I’ve had my site up for a number of years now. I have hidden my profile either if I’m in a relationship or I’m not in to dating at the time. Right my account has been hacked. I cannot get into it. I cannot change the password. I cannot delete it my account. My phone just keeps popping up with mutual matches and messages left for me. I have no idea what these hackers have done and what information they have of mine. My real first name is on my profile. My email is somewhere in there because I used it to set up my account. I’m getting hundreds of notifications. Did. They rewrite my profile? If so I cannot imagine what they have written. Are my pictures still up? I have no idea. What if they replaced them with something that isn’t appropriate.
POF will not get back to me to help me. It has been days. The hackers obviously went and put that I liked hundreds of men or else I wouldn’t be getting all of these “You are a mutual match” notifications. I don’t know what to do. But POF should be so much easier to reach. I keep emailing asking for help. My POF account is compromised and I have. No idea what else if anything is compromised. IF POF CANNOT HELP WITH THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF YOUR ACCOUNT I WOULD GET OFF OF THEIR SITE. Quite frankly 98% of the men they match me up with or contact me I never contact back. I wouldn’t dream of dating any of them. Once in a while some decent man comes along. As soon as this is taken care of I am off I am off of their site for good! Good luck to those who stay.

My POF account was hacked under two separate email addresses with extremely strong passwords. I was also using secured networks. Because I was an "upgraded user", I had financial information on the account. I had no access to the account as the individual who hacked it continually changed the email addresses, the user names and the passwords. They sent out messages and emails to dozens upon dozens of people and gained access to my cell-phone number. Customer service was of no help in resolving the issue; I continued to get an automated reply to all of my emails pleading with them to close the account. I was finally able to access the account and delete it on my own but it took over twenty four hours to do so. To add insult to injury, the site refused to refund the money that I had spent to "upgrade". This site is poorly run and I will never use it again.

POF stands for Plenty of Fish. There are plenty of fish in the sea on this site but it boggles my mind how many have no degrees or barely finished high school. Just to set the record straight on a number of reviews I've read about POF regarding scams, POF is not alone. Every one of the other sites I've been a member of (Match.com, OurTime, OkCupid, eHarmony, Zoosk) have similar problems. I don't see any way to stop this other than having your guard up and being smart. Even if you meet someone in person, don't start giving them money as another reviewer did. Also, every site has had people stealing profiles, same as what happens on Facebook.
Plenty of Fish has some good parts. The text box they use on the website (I am NOT referring to the mobile app) can be expanded so you can actually see what you're typing to help avoid typing mistakes. It costs a fee to have "read" abilities so you know if your email has been read. Also, this is the only site which shows you if an email has been deleted and UNREAD, or Read and Deleted. I also like the paid feature that lets you see whether you have ever messaged each other, the last time the person was online (even if it was a year ago!), and if the person has viewed your profile.
The bad: As I mentioned at the beginning, there are tons of matches that have only high school education. Matches have no relevance to your own preferences. If you click on the "My Matches" tab you're presented with a number of so called matches which don't necessarily reflect any of your preferences. Then there's another tab called "Ultra Match" which is supposed to give you 70 matches by compatibility. Only very rarely have I found a match that I wanted to write to.
There's a "Search" tab under which you can list your preferences. It kind of boggles my mind why POF execs won't design this so your preferences will be carried over to the "My Matches" section since that's where you're expecting to find someone who matches what you're looking for. Even worse, the advanced search looks great, but it doesn't SAVE your preferences! I don't get it. How ridiculous of a design.
Another thing that Match.com has that other sites should have is the ability to "hide" profiles you don't want to see. Since so few of the matches given to me on POF actually are people I want to meet, it would be nice to be at least able to hide them so they don't keep showing up day after day! Since you get what you pay for, and POF is free, I wouldn't expect much from this site.

I’m sure this happens all the time, I was contacted by a convicted felon, recently out of prison, convicted con artist so I’m sure he must have been violating parole if he was on a dating site trying to con women. My issue is with POF. I contacted customer service and was told that there was nothing they could or WOULD do even when I gave them all the info. Ladies beware, you are not safe on POF.

Conducting a Study of POF, these are the findings:
(2) You don't see all Profiles.
(3) All people who view your profile are not included in the list of people who viewed your profile.
(4) When viewing profiles, there is no indication in the person's profile that you viewed them.
(5) All emails sent are not received by the person. They appear as sent on the Sender's email, but no email appears in the Receiver's email section. The Sender assumes that the Receiver just was not interested, but POF is controlling the communication.
(6) The Receiver does not see all of the emails that are sent to him/her.
(7) The Scammer emails and profiles that appear on POF are generated by POF itself.
(8) People do connect on POF because the very few who connect are used in promotions to plant the seed that it can happen to you and by you paying for the subscription, you are more likely to connect because you are receiving additional features.
Bottom-line, POF is scam working on your emotions! Manipulating your Time and/or Money.

l met this individual on POF dating site and we were talking for 2 Months. He claims to be an intelligence Analyst working for the SIA department as an undercover Agent. After talking to this person for 3 weeks he said he needed to travel to Kabul Afghanistan for an "assignment". But finally when he earned my trust and I was starting to fall in love he asked me if He could deliver a package to me and l refused but finally he convinced me, he said his stuff wasn't safe out there 'cause he was in great danger. Then I received an email from a fake courier service: USNIIS? https://usniis.com and a waybill number to track the "package" then at some point it got in hold in Cambodia? because it didn't pass the inspection service. l had to email them and this individual literally begged me to pay 1,900 USD to the "Cambodia customs" to release this "package" and that box never arrived to its destination!
l wired the money to another individual and it was for the "non inspection charges". This scammer is: Lars ** and he claims to be an intelligence Analyst working for the SIA. His profile says he's from Robstown, Texas too! This individual asked me for another 2,000 USD to deliver the package to my doorstep without any trouble since it was a non inspection package and he is a big scammer 'cause at that point l did believe in him. l realized everything was a fraud and a scam when He asked for another 2,000 to deliver the package! l am so angry 'cause my money is gone!

I signed up with POF and by the 5th day I deleted my account. Within minutes of activating my account, I was greeted by about a dozen attractive women. I played along and after a few exchanges they wanted to chat offsite either on another platform or by texting. All were nothing but Catfish, which I suspected. Don't waste your time with this site, it's worthless. Better off going back to church.

I was actually threatened by a member of POF because he didn't like the place that I live because it is known for diversity. When I complained to the company and asked that he be removed, he was not and they took no action. Many of the members are fresh out of jail and the rest of them are looking for hook-ups. I tried this site three different times and only encountered losers or predators. This is a dangerous dating website.

I signed up with POF a short time ago and received a great amount of attention. Ladies, please be aware of persons that live in other countries or say they are in the military. They are scammers and are trying to talk to you offline. I was duped twice and the second time I was blackmailed and they wanted 3000 dollars for some pictures I shared (nothing X Rated). I never paid and so far so good. It was a horrible experience. I complained to POF but so far nothing. Make sure the person writing you can spell correctly and also knows how to use the English language in correct sentences.

Moments after I completed a profile for "Plenty of Fish"/POF.com I was contacted (via the app) by an escort service. I figured this was normal, and pushed on to find some real singles to talk to. What I found was profile after profile of women who simply do not exist. You write them a message, and they reply back with a message (rife with typos) asking you to sign up for another service so you can "hook up".
Then the telemarketers started calling. Before downloading this app, I hardly ever got calls from telemarketers; maybe once or twice a month. Now I get calls every day. They're always the same. They promise debt relief, or tell you you've won something, or that you're approved for a credit card from "The VISA-Mastercard Company". I've had the same phone number for over fifteen years, and I really don't want to change it, but today with telemarketers using special algorithms so they call from a different phone number every time, there's absolutely no way to block them.
The most frustrating part about all of this is that when asked for my phone number "to confirm my account", POF.com specifically stated that they do not sell your information to third-party companies; that is fraud! Of course, there's no way to prove it, and that's why whoever owns this app is obviously making tons of cash. If you're single, regardless of your sex or sexual orientation, avoid this app at all costs. It is full of scams, blatantly fake 'bot' profiles, and rife with ways to get you to spend money on a supposedly free app. By far the worst experience I've ever had downloading anything in the Google Play store. If I could give it a zero out of five, I would!

I had guys to inbox me cursing me out and insulting me because I wouldn't go out with them, when I reported the problem to POF the issues were never addressed and these people were still on the site to harass other women and curse them out too. And also POF have a bad habit about monitoring every inch of all your inbox conversations as well as your pictures and they would always send reminders not to say or do this or that or you risk being removed permanently from their site. The site is terrible. One of the worst that I have ever encountered. I recommend anyone to go to a more decent and classy dating site because POF is a trashy Low classed site with drug addicts and drunks and lowlifes.

POF used to be great about a decade ago (I met my wife of 9 years there and went in countless dates with women). Now, 2019, the place has turned into web GARBAGE. I am a 6-7 looking male in my early 40s and I can summarize my experience as: 30% are superficial immature women looking for a Tall Brad Pitt that makes 250k+ (they stay on the site for AGES waiting, and waiting). 55% are FAKE profiles of beautiful women ran by overseas scammers (I heard real women also face this issue with fake male profiles). 10% are transexuals posed as females (Be careful guys, some of them advertise themselves as real women). 5% are average looking women that may be able to establish a conversation and would like to meet you. So the odds are against you. And by the way, any women 7 and above on the scale will get hundred of emails from men, and since POF only show 10 messages per page, your odds to get read are zero to none. STAY AWAY!!!

I tried to call a number online that was listed as a support number. The number immediately disconnected and a different number (800) 505-8921 called me back. The person spent almost two hours getting me to share my computer screen and also my phone on the pretense of refunding me money. I'm pretty sure I was just scammed. The only way to see their profiles or message them, requires paying for their service upfront, just so the person that just hit your profile with a wants to meet, ignoring you and treating you like a terrorist. It's fake, sadly they can't possibly think this can go on forever! And when I went to their customer support about a refund day one, they refused and actually referred me to use Match.com. Once you request a reset of your password, they send you no emails. Instead they send an email that their department is so busy with emails that you got to figure things out of how to try logging back on again. I keep coming across women that for some reason unknown to me feel like they have to lie about where they are. I don't want anyone to give me the exact place they live right at the start. But lying about the state you're in is unnecessary. In other words, A woman's profile will say that she is in Atlanta. When she really isn't. She isn't even in the state of GA. In reality, she is in Tennessee.
When I look at a woman's profile, I see the picture first. Then I look to see where she is in relation to me. If I think she is close enough to actually date normally, then I read her profile. If the profile sounds OK, then I write. One thing that I know pisses off men is taking a few mins of their time and writing some strange woman on the internet. Only to find out she isn't where she says she is. Her profile says she is maybe 25 miles away. When in reality she is in middle Tennessee. 150 or more miles away. That's a pisser when you've taken your time to write this person because you think you might eventually make a connection. Only to find that they have lied and are totally in another state.
I see many fake profiles that do such as this. But, I also see a legit profile that also does it. It seems sorta stupid and counterproductive to me. I can understand telling a stranger on a dating site that you live in the next town over. Then later on telling the person where you actually are after you've gotten to know each other and have met a few times. But to lie to the point of being in another state and just pretending to be closer, Well, to me that's a lie right off the top. A big lie. A turnoff. Most men want a woman that is close enough that he can see her every weekend. And in some cases maybe every day. Your profile says you're 20 miles away when you're actually 150 or more. It's just stupid. Watch out for the fake profiles. Most of the time it's easy to tell the fakes from the real. It's the real profiles that lie that are hard to tell. Sometimes you won't know until you've wasted your time.

Every time I log on I get at least 2 propositions from call girls within about 10 minutes. The site is very gender biased. Men have very limited use. Nobody returns messages. The email system is designed to sucker you into upgrading and that's it. The activity notification emails you receive from POF usually have nothing to do with your account. Also this company is not based in the US so you have very little legal protection against it. In short, this site is a scam and needs to be shut down.

These men reel you in by all their sweet talk and sweetness which is so false. Watch out and beware. Don’t fall for their lies and false statements and promises. Run the other way or better yet get off the site. I was approached too many times from men wanting money and then trying to play the guilt trip on me. Women please heed my advice and do not give anyone money or buy them cards with money on it. It’s sickening how these men prey on woman and play on their emotions. Please don’t fall for it. I had used this dating site Plenty of Fish (POF) for several years both as a free customer and as a paying one for enhanced services. After recently paying for enhanced services, my account became inaccessible. My username and password were declared incorrect. I attempted multiple times to correct the problem by using the email address I have attached to my account. I tried to revise my password or choose a new password. I was unable to do so since my message led to no replies or advice. However, I continued to receive emails from potential dating partners at this "ineffective" email address. Attempts to request assistance through customer assistance at POF led to no advice; only a message stating all messages to this address will be deleted.
I created a new profile that gave expected service using the same email address which would not work with the former account. The enhanced services I paid for were not transferred to this new account. In conclusion: the username and password you use at this site can be made inaccessible. Plenty of Fish is not helpful to advise or revise the situation. Kevin

This was pathetic. I thought I was going on POF to find a suitable man which I thought I did. Guess what? The man I thought I found turned out to be a Ghanaian scammer who stole photos of an actual US Marine. It was bad enough that I got no luck on the website with real men, but for POF to allow this fake profile to go through the cracks was unacceptable. Their failure to monitor the fake profile cost me about $100000. It's almost killed me and all report and efforts seem useless until I was referred to agent Wayne **, an Independent cyber security contractor who was very helpful and instrumental in helping me get almost all my money back. I was skeptical at first but decided to give him a try and I was able to get a substantial part of my money back. Well they kept deleting my profile, due to defending myself against disrespectful women, which we all know that POF is one-sided and defend women against men. There is no equality on this site at all. You complain or make a wrong remark you're deleted without a fairness. But I haven't tried to get on POF in a long time, until now.
So I made a new email..completely new from my mobile device and tried to get on POF. Well a few min later my profile was deleted. I sent a few messages to a few women saying "hi how are you?" That's it. They have to be keeping pics in their database and using them or your names to know who I was..which is a invasion of my privacy. And I did not give any consent to them keeping info and pics or my email to use against me...I'm a nice guy, I don't send perverted pics and say nasty things like others do. But yet I'm a victim to illegal practices against my privacy rights. There needs to be some law or legal action taking against this.

Then the vendor went ahead and charged me for a second year without getting my consent or approval. I went ahead and deleted my account and now the vendor is telling me that they can not cancel the transaction. So after purchasing a 3 month upgraded plan I realized I had to quickly cancel the recurring subscription charges. First of all, POF does not make it easy to cancel. Also, as soon as I successfully cancelled, POF deleted my account. No warning I had a little less than 2 months left on my paid upgraded membership. I also noticed that POF seems to have automatically signed me up to other dating sites associated with POF because I had two subscriptions that I had a hell of a time trying to cancel and reverse. 2 unauthorized charges for 2 subscriptions to 2 websites that I did not even visit. All in all, POF was a nightmare to deal with. I still can't get in to my POF account as it seems to have been deleted completely and not by me. As far as I'm concerned POF is a scam.

I tried to log in to my original profile, but to no avail. Unfortunately, there isn't a POF customer service telephone number that you can call to inquire and resolve issues about your account. Therefore, in order to contact the POF Customer Service Department, you have to email their department to receive resolution and that is a complete waste of time, and energy.
Once I found the POF email address, I sent an email inquiring about why my account wasn't working. POF customer service claimed that they sent out an inquiry email to me stating that there was suspicious activity on my POF account. However, I never received this email from their department, and stated as such. FYI- once I stated that I did not receive this email, they immediately sent the email to my email address.
After going back and forth with their department to resolve the issue of closing my original account in order for my credit card information not to continue to be compromised by the hacker, it became painfully apparent that they did not know how to fix and resolve the problem. I ended up having to resolve my own dilemma on my own. If I could give POF a big fat 0 rating, I would definitely to do so here. NOW, HERE IS YOUR FAIR WARNING!!!! DO NOT USE THIS SITE!!!!

Once you finally reach someone (only by email, there is no chat support) the answers they send back seem to ignore the problems you are having, and suggest things you have already reportedly tried. They don't bother to look at their logs and see what particular problem is going on with your specific account. In other words, the reply seems to be written by a robot with no authority to investigate or fix the problem.
Original review: On many occasions there is just no way to log in. Their change password process doesn't work. I program websites for a living, so I speak from experience when I say that the site is really screwed up. You won't get a better login experience even if you pay for the membership. I have no proof that these user names even exist. I have every reason to believe they are ploys or mini plots to extract that last dollar from my bank account. Needless to say, the geographic location surrounding each request is never divulged.
If they think I will set off on a wild goose chase to Aberdeen or Penzance they should seriously question their own integrity. The only contact that made it past the first fence claimed to be based in the West Midlands whereas the truth was that the real location was Mexico. First, I would like to say, the purpose of this review is to communicate a resolution in the case of a negative review that I personally gave on April 24, 2019. My review was 1 star and had stated the case that I was removed from POF as a paid subscriber to elite services without any notice or reasoning other than policy was broken by me. My review also reflected that I am transgender and that I was disgusted with the fact that I could not participate for that reasoning alone. I questioned whether or not POF was imposing upon my Civil Rights and/or performing a hate crime against me.
Original Review: April 24, 2019
I clearly indicated on my profile and I uploaded my Florida identification as proof that I am in fact female. Without notice, warning, or an explanation I was removed from the site. Am I not entitled to find love and companionship like everyone else? Extreme hate crime and violation of my civil rights. I did not give those up when I became a transgender female as far as I know. I wouldn't give them 1 star if I didn't have to. What excuse do you have POF? I'm a paralegal and I read your contract thoroughly without breaking any policy. So are you just haters and against equality for all? SMH.

They block anything that has the word “sex” in it or “nudes”. My female friend and I tried it. She can send any vulgar word in the book to me. But it will not allow the male to even use the word sex! They don’t tell you they blocked it. You have to look back at the convo to see that your message doesn’t exist. They just decided for themselves that they don’t like it and scrap your message.
So how many times has a connection become disconnected because POF straight up does not send your message? So the person you are talking with thinks you just stopped responding... ** you POF. You are a bunch of softies and you are a perfect example of the problem with our sad country. Everyone is soft and are very sensitive to “feelings”? It's a scam! Your password stops working for no reason within a few days and the recovery system does not work - email reset never ever sends. However your profile remains active and POF uses your information and photos as so they please, including posting them on other websites! There is no way to contact customer service on the site, no phone number or contact form or chat. That explain why 200 out of 250 profiles returns on a search are repeated! Folks get kicked out and create another profile using another email. So probably their actual users are about 15%-20% of what POF tells/advertise to users and com advertisers to raise their ad prices.

I didn’t expect much from POF. But I gave it a shot. The first problem was the fake messages from supposed users asking me to put more pictures up. The second problem is multiple likes supposedly from POF users and not one says hello, but I get bombarded with upgrade offers. Third, for a dating site there’s no way to filter straight, bs, gay, women. Fourth problem is many of the female profiles are from other sites and there’s no way to communicate with that user, POF does not tell us the profile is fake. You just have to happen to be on another site and see the exact same profiles. Fifth, many of the “female” users are men with makeup and female clothes on. It’s sad.
Sixth the matches are BS, they are all users I sent messages to that didn’t respond but none of the supposed likes. Don’t be a sucker. Don’t pay POF. Seventh, majority of the ** women profiles are prostitutes or undesirable women. POF staff is petty people. If you specify in your profile a particular type of person you want, POF will make sure you only see the users you do not want, and they do it on purpose. And lastly, for the actual women that are on the site, many of them are simply full of it. They make these profiles telling how good they are but watch for the keywords. Not interested in hookup or anything like that means you can hit it on the first night. If her profile says read my profile, she’s not a real person or profile.
Wait. Then there's the hustlers trying to get me to commit bank fraud. And POF knows it, the. There’s the fake fast hump profiles and other sites, they have an algorithm to flag user accounts so each time I log in I am bombarded with hoes and prostitutes. Then there’s the "Hey there" messages, a waste of time. Even after changing account settings so no two word messages could come through, they kept coming likely from POF staff. Then there’s the way POF limits users, if you are 30 they will only let you see other 30 year olds. It’s just bad. If you forget anything, remember don’t pay, it’s a scam! They don’t even really hide your profile wha. You hide it. It still shows on POF and they also use it on their other sites. Even though you signed up for POF, your profile and images are on other sites.

But I do have to say that seems to be a problem with all dating sites. Seems to be the other #1 complaint is fake or active profiles. This seems to be a problem on quite a few dating sites MATCH, OURTIME, POF. I have come to the conclusion it is not about you finding the love of your life. It is about how much money they can make.
Out of the dating sites I have tried only one was good enough to refund part of the money I put into it Zoosk. Most of the messaging is obviously generated by POF itself. "Meet me" messages that include inappropriate links. Only maybe at best 5% of messages are real and that's generous. Obviously the women far, far outweigh men here. Went on four dates that actually didn't turn out to be only about one night stands but even they were nothing like their profiles stated at all. I basically sat down and said I had to go to the john and ducked out the back. Obviously women don't read any of your profile info and just check out your photo and want to meet immediately. It doesn't really matter 99.999% of the women here are disgusting women that I would cross the street to avoid saying hi to. I paid a full year but I keep it logged off. Good luck fellas. I'm going back downtown.

Plenty of fish is a nightmare! Nothing like it used to be!! You get spammed every day, by online prostitutes and and outside entities who are trying to lure you into their website/pornographic. This is getting really old! I tried a number of times to get ahold of management to make suggestions on what to do but never get any kind of feedback. I've been using POF since it first started! It was a great site! Loads of features you could use to narrow down searches as to what type of woman/relationship you were seeking! Today it's all about sparing someone's feeling of inadequacy, this is very poor judgement on POF's part to cater to this sort of behaviour! It feeds one type of poor behaviour and allows tonnes more to come into the spotlight while guys like myself have to suffer with the garbage that is left behind... Phoney profiles people scamming, unknown third party entities spamming people's inboxes.
POF needs to be taken offline or given a serious makeover! POF was great the way it was back in 2007. You could select what race you were interested in! What religion and type of relationship, dating, casual, long-term, FWB, multiple encounters, one night stand, friends only, chat, it had the best of both worlds. But now it has become filled with people whom I'd never want to meet! I'd rather jump into a barrel of toxic waste than date these animals who hit me up!!. POF is the epitome of slime - certainly don't recommend this site to anyone!!

Support is non-existent. The site routinely "forgets" login information requiring the recreation of the profile totally from scratch. The site claims to be completely free but in fact keeps certain key features (username search, seeing who likes a profile, for example) unless an "upgrade" is paid for. There is no profile screening function to remove obvious fakes and scammers. Overall a totally useless site.

In the past few years, I was a member of POF 3 separate times. I live in the State of CA. So 3 strikes I'm done. I was in disbelief at the high number of scammers, liars, opportunists, users. I got so many liars and scammers, I would ask them straight out. They would lie when I asked them questions in a message or phone. Are you a scammer? Do you want a relationship or are you just looking for hookups? They lied and scammed so much, they had no remorse. Just about getting what they want. There may be 1% to 3% on this site that are genuine. But that is being generous. I will never go on this site again. A huge waste of time and energy. Instead, I just deleted my account. I would say that about 80% of the profiles are fake (scammers). I am constantly blocking many each day. I can spot a fake scammer a mile away. Also, I report main profile photo as not being a face photo and nothing is done. Each day these profiles appear with main photo of guitar, boat, fish, etc. NOT a human face. They should proof all photos before being allowed on the site, like Match.com does. Not that Match doesn't also have lots of fakes.

Being freshly retired from the military, I wanted to broaden my possibilities to meet a good woman and enjoy the next chapter in life with. In just over one year, I met a staggering two women. One who showed up looking 10-12 years older than her photos with a huge chunk of gray hair that reminded me of a skunk. The second woman could rival Harry Houdini with her "disappearing" acts. Realizing that 98% of the women did NOT read my profile, I just added more photos and condensed my profile write-up. While this change seemed to have better results, the quality of women responding were less than favorable. And I am a man who prefers quality over quantity.
Fast Forward that whole year and I began to realize a pattern. Many women who seemed to have fake profiles all had the following in common; their profile name ended with random numbers and letters like Sabrina2j8z6w or Chelsea9q82vb4. In addition all of these women added me as "favorites" and sent the same exact message "Hey There :)" Nothing more. I realized all of these women only had one photo and usually a suggestive/provocative photo. They were all FAKE PROFILES. And I further realized that if I went ONLINE after a certain time period, I would get message after message and added as a favorite after favorite over and over day after day.
While the site can be an excellent way of meeting people, it has become a dumping ground for garbage and fake profiles. Most good looking women I viewed a year earlier were still on the website. So I started to question the sincerity of these women as well. It's all too often to use such a website as an Internet Welfare System without ever having to be honest in one's intent. Lastly, I was so fed up with the fake profiles that I screen captured 10 fake profiles as proof and loaded them as my profile photos titled "FAKE POF PROFILE" and within two or three minutes of uploading my fifth photo, my account was locked. Imagine that. POF is a garbage website that deserves NEGATIVE Stars. What could be an excellent way of meeting people has become a nightmare. Plenty of Fish, is really Plenty of Fake Profiles and Plenty of Garbage.

I understand POF wants and succeeds in having good taste and is a classier than experience than all the idiots who were in the Craigslist personals. But, honestly, the word “sensual” warrants a lifetime ban? Once in a while I try, again, to login, create a new user name and-or new password. But the site recognizes my email address and will not allow me to re-establish a new account. POF has plenty of members and they do not care if you cannot login or open an account. They do not need me or you. Move on. Possibly try a print ad in the National Examiner tabloid in the “ Sheela Wood Find A Friend” personal ads. I have visited the POF website on and off for about 6 years. When I first tried it, about 6 years ago, the website was top shelf. I have seen it deteriorate greatly since then. Yes, the women don't like the guys who only want sex, and the guys are tired of women showing up weighing "tons" more than what their photos show. But those are actual users and not the website itself.
It's January 2019 and the first 20 new profiles I see...are all fake profiles. Being in my 40s, I'm seeing provocative photos of girls in their early 20s who have their age listed as 40-something. They only have 1 photo, and a 1-sentence bio. Once you send them an email, they respond with a link to go to some pornographic website. I'm sure the actual women users/subscribers see similar things also.
I have written to POF about this, but they have an automated reply that is meant to brush you off...and really informs you that they intend on doing nothing about this. So much for providing a quality website! Having previously working in the IT/IS field, there is an easy way to prevent these scammers from using the POF website, and that is by blocking the IP address of the offenders. However, POF will not do this. Alternatively, POF employs people who have to clean these messes up daily, only to do it all over again the next day.
The employees of POF do not want to block the IP addresses of the scammers because then they would be out of a job. They fail to realize that if they provide a quality website, the website will grow, and more customer service people will be needed...and then they could do their job with integrity instead. And a quality website with growing users is going to bring more advertisers with more money. But POF fails to recognize this.
Originally, a man named Marcus created this website. Back then, the website (as I previously mentioned) was top notch. Since then, POF was sold and now the quality, the subscribers, and the advertisers are leaving. Now they have to create fake profiles in hopes of bringing back the things that they are losing. Food for thought POF!

Most profiles are fake sending spam links. Not only that, After you spend a stupid amount of money on upgrading your account the site still constantly pesters you on spending more money on "Tokens" to "get more popular and be noticed faster." What the hell is this!? A casino where you pay every time to spin for a random girl who almost definitely won't respond either because she doesn't exist or because the people that ARE real on this site are precious little princesses that have no personality that think. I should be crawling on my hands and knees just for them to say hello? It's not got a good crowd.
It's very hard and disheartening for people who are shy and not got much confidence in themselves on this site as you're making a big leap by putting yourself out there and then getting nothing in return and you're paying for it! Most of these men on this site are just looking for sex and lie and say they want a relationship or something long term to get it. Once they realize that they might not get it they get nasty and mean and kick the girl to the curb to move on to the next victim. Some men’s profiles even say insulting things about women in their profiles and they aren’t deleted. I think this is run by sexist men who don’t care about how these men are treating women on this site. Women have to go through so much with trying to find a man on here that is not just looking to get in her pants if she actually want a real relationship and not just a hook up.
Most of the men on this site that I have encountered are rude, mean, shallow, conceited and think because they are a man they can act whatever way they want. They are all wrapped up in how the girl looks even when they aren’t even all that themselves and if they can get sex. I’m fed up with the behavior of men on this site and how horrible they act. It also seems odd that most of the reviews here are from men. Makes you wonder who is running this site. Then you have men putting stupid stuff on their profile like the reason all you women are single is because you put him in the friend zone. WELL, HELLO you're single too buddy!!!
I mean really low quality men on here! A lot of drug users, men who are cheating. They just don’t care since it’s free. I don’t care if they are men and have a better job than men me or whatever else it doesn’t mean you have the right to disrespect me and think that you are better than me. When you message some accounts, you could tell they were bots replying with canned responses, totally unrelated to the message you. Most of the replies try to get you to message them off the POF site.
Several of my friends & I have seen a massive rise in accounts stating they will only accept messages from PAID POF members. This looks as though POF has created fake accounts to get unpaid members to pay in order to contact specific users. This seems to be unique to males messaging women, in that none of my women friends on POF have ever even seen this type of paid members only notification. (Red Flag) When we started to talk amongst ourselves, we realized, NONE of us even knew how to set our profiles to block unpaid members. We eventually did find the setting.

I've been a member of POF for a number of years and decided to upgrade and pay for membership this year. This past weekend after chatting with another member for a couple weeks, I uploaded pics to my profile and shared them privately with this member. I then deleted them from my profile. Shortly after this I went to upload a couple more and was faced with a message telling me my uploading privileges had been revoked. After multiple emails to POF demanding an explanation they replied with this:
"Thank you for taking the time to email POF.com. Please be advised that your uploading privileges have been revoked. Your account was found to be in violation of our Terms and Conditions as you have uploaded offensive material, indecent images, or re-posted images after having received an image warning. This ban cannot be reset." I understand the site's terms, but these pictures were of QUILTS AND NEEDLEPOINTS I had created. No nudity or anything inappropriate whatsoever. Sorry POF but you just lost a paying subscriber and ongoing member.

I made a few decent connections on POF, but recently it's being overrun with these gorgeous young women profiles that are clearly fake. They use the same "tagline" and if you upload their profile pic to Tineye.com you'll most likely get 4-40 results showing all the ** photo sites their picture is posted. Reporting them is useless as I half believe it's POF itself doing this. The bottom line is NO gorgeous woman whose picture is a perfect body and face is going to be on POF, which in reality is for the older, plain-faced, overweight woman (majority - sorry, but true).

POF.com is a gross place. Don’t pay for the upgrade - everyone who wants to “meet you” is a **. There are no real people who will ever show up on that tab. Also people there tend to be incredibly shallow, vapid and downright mean. It’s an awful site that is infested with fake accounts. Don’t do it. All it will do is kill your self-confidence. Updated on 12/22/2018: I want to add some more to my previous review. I have a POF setting that prevents people from messaging me unless their message is 50 characters in length. I thought that would stop the sexbots from emailing me. But I just got a message from a sexbot and the message was "Hey there!" Obviously, Markus is behind these sexbots. The site is mostly unusable now as anyone I click on "Who Viewed You" or "New Users", I end up seeing mostly sexbots and no one real. Even when I click on "Who's Online", I see at least 3-5 sexbots. I think that POF is officially dead. Markus must have gotten greedy and decided that he could make more off of sexbots and die hard loyalists than before when it was just upgraded members. Someone needs to make a new dating site because POF just isn't what it was before with the nonstop sexbot spam that Markus allows.
Updated on 12/07/2018: I want to add more to my previous review that I posted a couple of days ago. Just today, I have already received six POF emails from sexbots. I will probably get some more before the day is through. Also, I mentioned in my previous review that I created a user script to remove crap from his website. Some of the crap that I removed involved red alert notifications indicating someone was interested in me or something. 100% of every one of those were from bots, not real people. It's just a scam to trick you into spending money so you will see who was interested in you.
Markus likes to pretend that he is a champion of justice, and caters to feminist types. He lets women have empty and two-word profiles, but requires that males have three sentence profiles. It should be the same for both genders. Even though there is already a profile setting that can limit who can contact you based on gender, age, location, etc. he made it so no one can ever see or contact each other outside a certain age range, and did it for the women of the site and no one else.
Well if he is so high up on his horse and thinks he is such a warrior of justice, don't you think he should show some integrity? Trying to con people out of money by setting up a fake "someone is interested in you" notifications is a lack of integrity. This guy doesn't have integrity. Which is why we have a dating site that is being overrun by sexbots now, despite the fact that he has been working on this site for decades and has plenty of web development experience and expertise.
Original Review: I'm not sure when exactly, but I will say around 2008, there were a lot of CSS and HTML and page navigation errors on the website. I never put the website or the owner down. I wanted to take advantage of the bug report and suggestion threads in the Forums. As soon as I explained the problem on the forums, I was attacked by a group of people, mostly women. I just wanted to help Marcus by pointing the errors out, but I guess he was perfectly fine with having people ** and give me a hard time.
Then later, some woman was complaining about how this stranger treated her like complete crap and she can't get over it and him because she was otherwise attracted to him. It was so long ago, I don't remember exactly. I probably said something to the effect that she needed to embrace her hate and anger a bit, otherwise she will find herself in this situation again and again for the rest of her life and always be a victim. This wannabe moderator immediately attacked me and said that there couldn't possibly be worse advice than I was giving and then he basically sweet talked her and blah, blah, blah. I found out later that he posted a lot on the forums and signed every single one of his posts with his nickname, trying to bring attention to himself. Needless to say, he became a moderator. Markus must like self-serving douches like that.
Those two aren't really complaints. But this one is. I think that if someone only wants to receive emails from people within a certain age, then they can set limitations on their profile "only interested in men from 18-24" or something like that. It's already a profile option. But Markus one day decided to go far beyond that and you immediately can never ever message or receive messages from someone outside of your age range. I just disagree with that totally.
People 15 years apart should be able to talk to each other if they want, and if they don't want to talk to people older/younger than them, then they can use that profile option I already told you about. It made me feel like Markus was a ** wonder who wanted to cater feminist types. Not only that, but for many years any POF profile I create has to have a certain number of characters usually around 3-4 sentences, but women's profiles have no character limit I know of because I often see completely empty or two-word profiles like "Ask me".
And I live in a small farm town of 4,500 in the Midwest. I moved here from Columbus, Ohio around 8 years ago. And I live near a small city. For many years, I would say the vast majority of women's profiles were real. But now it has been taken over by sexbots. First it was one full search page full of sexbots that got deleted within 12-24 hours. Then it became two full search pages. Now it is more like 3-5 full search pages of nothing but sexbots.
Given what I know about Marku's ** personality and the fact that he is a pretty good web designer who has been designing websites for decades now, I think this is intentional. I don't think people are spending massive amounts of time to create fake sexbot accounts to annoy him or POF users. As some said, they send you to alternate websites that they believe are also owned by Markus. So Markus could potentially be using POF to create sexbots to farm income for other sites he created. And if not, well he should be doing a better job of keeping sexbots out.
I like POF because it is a free site and it is well designed. It is aesthetically pleasing. I mean there are some small things I don't like. Like, why would you put eye color and hair color so far apart? Why is someone's ethnicity and astrology sign in the same line? I also ended up creating a user script to get rid of some of the crap he has on the site. But overall it's a good site. My main two complaints are that he puts age restrictions where you can't see or talk to people outside a certain age range, no matter what, despite the fact that you can already restrict who can contact you like by age, location, whether they have a picture or not, etc. And the second complaint is that he let the site be taken over by sexbots. And finally, I just think Markus is a giant **. Someone like Trudeau or Macron. Or worse. A ** coward who would probably scream that white skittles are racist or something. POF is the best dating website out there that I know of.
I like it better than MeetMe, because MeetMe is badly designed and it is just a place for people to sell or get weed, prostitute themselves, badmouth guys and shame them, or ask for free ** like (someone give me some pizza or soda or cigarettes, or, "Take me out please," or, "Pick me up and drive me somewhere," or, "I don't care who comes over and cuddles but I want cuddles tonight handsome guys please," or, "I need rent money or gas money or phone card minutes please"). I'm sure the same ignorant ** are on POF too, but POF has more class where you don't know what someone is actually thinking because it isn't real-time communication as in tweets or live posts. It is just profiles and you can tell who takes the time to actually fill out their profile or not.

It's all just a bunch of fake profiles looking to scam you in some way or another. Computer generated garbage. Freakin' ridiculous. This website should be shut down!

I have had to create multiple accounts, only to find that the website utilizes shadow banning of users. Certain keywords trigger their system and then you have to change your password which leads to you being full shadow banned. Once you are shadow banned, you still have an account, but you will stop receiving mutual matches from real accounts.
The website also uses deep fake accounts which is basically bots of profiles of users who quit the website. Me and several friends came across our own profiles being used, reported them, and POF took no action to remove the profile. Nobody is off limits. One of my friends paid for a subscription and got banned outright and found out a user she spoke to reported her for being rude. She was unbanned but then realized a week went by without any messages or likes which is impossible for females. That is when she realized she had been shadow banned.
POF also dumps cookies on your computer as a fail safe in case you delete your account to circumvent the shadow ban. They save your pictures and e-mail to add to the shadow ban list to ensure you are automatically banned or shadow banned if you delete your account and sign up for a new one. One of the issues I have with the website is the large amount of prostitution and sex trafficking that is going on. The same accounts keep popping up no matter how many times they get reported and deleted. This is pretty ridiculous that sexbots can get through and use the website more than real people with respectful, kind, and engaging messages.

I am writing this review now that I reside in Los Angeles. In 2013 while living in Phoenix, I first started using POF. In 2013 I met a woman and everything was pretty much legit. Here in LA it's a JOKE & a SCAM! I have received emails from Egypt, Nairobi, Kenya and Chad! All of the Threads started out innocent enough...a blonde woman tells me she lives in Van Nuys, or Hermosa, or perhaps Chatsworth...PSYCHE!
After all of the "African" women attempt to schmooze me with "near-naked" (probably stolen) pics and promises of "the best female companionship I will ever need for the remainder of my adult life"..."So why don't you PLEASE just send me that $2K to get me on the next flight home to LAX because my roommate spent all of my money here!" Yah right! Does POF block these scammers? HELL NO!
Fortunately I was NOT born yesterday so I simply delete the Thread and am out $ZERO $USD! Perhaps not so lucky for other gullible men and women. My Ex-Wife got taken to the cleaners ($200 is what she'll admit to) by a Nigerian or Somalian Scammer Christmas 2016. So this SCAMMING BS IS VERY REAL! SHAME ON POF FOR NOT OBTAINING DRIVER'S LICENSES OF PAID SUBSCRIBERS!
I have been told that I am a very attractive man (I am very humble so it's very hard for me to state this). I DO STATE THIS FOR A VERY IMPORTANT REASON: Five Years ago I got many replies from women. Now I get almost ZERO replies because I am told that my Pics in my Profile look too "Modelish" so women think I am a SCAM! Even more reason why I am CHEERING the Woman's Review from Huntington Beach (November 8, 2018) in which she states that women need to... "get OFF Social Online Dating sites and go back to meeting Men in Person. In the grocery store..." I LOVE HER REVIEW!!! Bye-Bye POF and all the other Computer Dating BS!!!

Aggravations users get having to deal with all this nonsense and POF supports it rather than taking a moral step to temporarily shut down and restructure their dating app. Now, about that card info I received, I screenshot the message with her profile, and I reported it and 12 hours later, message and profile disappeared, but I also messaged that scammer they were reported so more likely the scammer blocked me.

On 9/16/18 4.17pm EST, they responded informing me memberships are non-refundable but, they would they would reduce my membership to two or four weeks depending on my preference then provide me with a refund of the difference and remove my card from renewing my account. In order to get some money back I told them reduce my membership to two weeks and provide the refund and remove my card from auto-renewal status. On 9/17/18 9am EST I contacted my bank to file a dispute, they informed me that Plenty of Fish tried to double bill me and they stopped the first one but, the second got through. I told the representative I signed for one month 30 day trial and got billed the entire 8 month membership. My bank reimbursed me all but the one month membership fee. In the interim, I'm waiting to see the refund from Plenty of Fish and as of this date 9/26/18 11:02am EST it has yet to be processed.
If they rendered the refund my bank would rescind theirs. I would have a two month Plenty of Fish membership at that point. However, Plenty of Fish did not follow thru. Surely they didn't think I had recourse to get my money back. Played themselves. As of last night, 9/25/18 I became locked out of my account, so I pulled up my bank statement and called the 888-345-4454 number that was on my statement. The woman answered the phone billing, I explained that I'm locked out of my account and sent an email and have yet to get a response. I also told her that I'm on the Consumer Affairs website reading complaints and a host of people have stated this has happened to them. I need to speak to someone, she went on to say customer support is only available via email and she would reach out to them and have someone contact me. I told her I preferred a call, she was adamant only email correspondence would happen.
As for my time on the site, bots send you request and when you email the person to try and speak with them you don't get a reply. You get a host of women outside of the criteria you've outline in setting up your profile that would interest you. Plenty of Fish is a scam, possibly a husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend or group of friends are getting rich off of just as the old Girls Gone Wild scam.

I would receive a lot of "meet me" notifications, which I would come into contact with actual profile at times, and they would not say anything but wants to meet. The few conversations I would have the women would be rude from the beginning conversation for no reason or they would block you as soon as you say hello for no reason. My profile got deleted multiple times. I contacted customer service and on last deletion I was told profile was deleted for suspicious activity when it was a conversation but POF could not deleted the suspicious activity of constant nude or fake profile requests that would flood my notifications.
I would receive more attention from dude profiles than actual women that from profile standpoint we shared many common interest. No matter the woman, she would not seem interested and could easily go weeks without responding and when she would it would be short answer. Yes or no. I would get approached by very old women nowhere near the age range I had placed in criteria. I would get male profiles in my carousel even though I was looking for females. I would comment to customer service but it only seemed to get worse with no response from customer service.

Online dating is typically a failed endeavor for most people, and POF is a spectacular example of why. The majority of 'women' who contact you are actually bots, fake/spam profiles and cross-dressing transexuals. As far as the real women: the attractive/seemingly desirable few are usually belligerently insecure and jaded against men in general, completely negating the purpose of even having a dating profile. Read their pages and you will often see a ridiculous, unrealistic laundry list of criteria and things they will not put up with, simmering with anti-male sentiment and statements like 'Real men only, no time for losers' or something similarly abrasive and condescending. Good luck getting a response at all, other than them blocking you for no reason.
There are occasionally real women on the site that will talk to you. Unfortunately, they are usually the most pathetically downtrodden, unattractive and desperate women you could imagine: loaded with all sorts of personal baggage, often with multiple illegitimate children, still involved with their jailbird exes, living in a Motel 6 somewhere 'until they get a few things straightened out,' etc. Even this last category of beggars is determined to be choosers, and they'll still criticize men for not being Brad Pitt, or for being 'boys' and not ready to handle all 300 lbs of them plus their kids. They'll put up with nothing from you, but you have to enthusiastically put up with everything from them.
Basically, dating anywhere in the first world is a losing proposition for most involved. Only the tip top of the social pyramid should expect any success. When it's online dating, or POF specifically, you can double or triple those bad odds. Western women are spoiled and price themselves totally out of the market, and men add to the problem by rewarding it with lust and attention. Good luck folks, l'm moving to Thailand.

It’s free, so I didn’t expect much from the women’s profiles (a lot of desperate and shallow) or the site. It is true that you get what you pay for. I couldn’t get in touch with “customer service”. Also, I have had my profile deleted and was not given any notification or a reason. I didn’t even know right away. One woman who I exchanged emails outside of the site told me that my profile and messages were gone. I have read some profiles that said POF will delete profiles. All someone has to do is “report” you for whatever reason which includes standing up for yourself when you don’t agree with the other person.
One other thing is POF sends out emails for people who they say want to “meet you”, but you can’t get to that member’s profile unless you are a paying member. I was able to message one of those women and was told that they did not click "meet me". Seems like POF might be playing games. I can’t see why anybody would want to pay for any added features. I avoided profiles of women who paid taking it that they were desperate.

POF is allowing ** advertisers to create fake profiles. My experience has been frustrating because it’s hard to find a real person. They make hundreds of fake profiles every day, usually of some stunning beauty in a bikini, or maybe even topless. It’s obvious it’s a fake profile. I sent an email to a few of them just to see where things would go, and they respond by telling you to go to their ** site. It’s disgusting.
As a former IT manager of an international company, I know how to resolve this, and I suggested it to POF. POF has the ability to block the IP addresses of the offenders, but they choose not to. It would instantly stop this perverted misuse of their website. But when I email POF (maybe 20 times… yes, I’m consistent), they won’t respond to my complaint because they don’t want to stop this type of behavior. POF doesn’t’ seem to want to change, for the better, the integrity of their website. So, if you want to join because you don’t want to talk to real people, and you like **, then maybe POF is for you!

I recreated a different account with no pictures to search if I was still on there and again my account without notice less than an hour disappeared. I've been with POF now for 4+ years as both an upgraded member and non-upgraded member. In the older days it wasn't too bad of a site once I learned to weed thru all the BS scam artists on here and customer service used to be someone responsive. Those days are completely gone... Now this site has been flooded with young women scammers posing as older women in their 50s and 60s. They post pics of young hotties that are barely dressed. When I contacted a couple of the women they referred me to a website called trustmilf.com so I checked out their web... It was a disgusting ** video site.
I reported literally 100s of these women to POF customer service department for a month now and absolutely no action has been taken nor any response from POF customer service. Additionally I set my profile and contact information for women 50-60+ year old not more than 50 miles from my zip code. I'm being flooded with meet me's and messages from these young tramps/scammers that are all from Southern California areas and a few from Las Vegas many 100s of miles from my zip code area. POF must have new ownership and administrators now who are part of this scam... My advice is DON'T upgrade and pay any $$$ to this now scam ** site. I will delete my subscription to this ** site.

When I first signed up for Plenty of Fish (POF) I was very excited. I received over 100 messages and views and requests to meet within a couple of hours! They kept coming for 2 days. Awesome I thought. As I kept reviewing the profiles and messages, everything looked the same and as if it was written by the same person or just a few things were changed, they all looked the same. Oh and about 3/4 of what ended up being at least 200 messages in the end were all decently good looking men which is great but in my age group 50 yrs old, I may not be bad looking but those odds are very unlikely in any scenario.
I also noticed all the profiles I received were as if they were handwritten or hand picked for me from where they were from to wording to my preferences in men (most all looked very similar also). I’ve been on other sites nothing like this ever. I got plenty of messages. Again they all sounded very similar. There was one or two that differed but there were other profiles that matched them also I noticed. Nobody actually scammed me. I didn’t pay anything. I was only on there 3 days. But I noticed in between there were a few other profiles literally saying this same thing and that’s what made me take a closer look. They were mad and said there were problems with fake profiles. And sure enough. I pulled my profile and changed all my info and saved it, I only hope they do not keep a back up of anything. I’m concerned about Identification Theft.

Went to log back on the next day and nothing worked. Decided to open a second account after multiple password reset attempts to see if it would say my email was registered to someone else. Second account opened no issues which told me they deleted my account. Second account was opened about two hours and off it went again. Deleted. I officially hate this “free” service. I had absolutely nothing vulgar or against company policy on my profile. They’ll keep the catfish and bots but delete a real person's account for no reason. Grade F for fail in everything. They don’t even send an email to let you know they terminated your account. Never again POF. Keep your sleazy men who all mark very ambitious and have a dead end job.

I was so excited when I joined POF! I was overwhelmed with the number of responses I received! But, that excitement didn't last too long. The quality of the men are poor on this site. I received inboxes from guys who didn't want to post their picture on the dating site, but wanted my personal email address or phone number to send me messages. Thank God I'm smart as I realize most of them are frauds and want to send you personal emails, so they can try and sell you a story to con you out of money. I get the impression that this is a "hookup" site. The men whose profile stated they were decent, turned out to be nothing but con-artists, immature little boys playing games and seeking attention, or bootie calls! Their profile states one thing, but when you began to have an intelligent conversation, they seem to become afraid and will run by not contacting you!
Yes, I know that all websites have good and bad, but my goodness the bad definitely outweighs the good and will cause you to become discouraged about using dating websites. Some of us are really serious about finding that special someone and it's unfortunate that we have to weed through so many fake, immature men who claim they want a relationship, but are only interested in attention and game playing.

POF offers 24-hour tokens to "boast" your profile for $1.99/each (or about $60/month on top of paying for membership). In other words, POF promotes your profile if you buy these tokens; otherwise, it is hidden. When I asked POF about this marketing scheme, it did not respond. Numerous users sought to "pimp" me; requesting I contact someone not on POF, providing their email/phone number.
I was also approached by a slew of much younger men seeking a sugar mommy. Plus outright scammers. Lots of fake profiles with cartoons instead of photos. When I repeatedly provided proof of these offenses, POF failed to respond. I requested POF refund my money and filed a claim with my credit card company. POF is under new ownership, Markus Frind. Read this entire review so you know the WARNING SIGNS to look for. My experience with POF was everyone that I communicated with was nothing but a scammer. I worry that human trafficking might be part of this. One guy's profile is looking for females who want to fly out on weekend to get away. Do not fall for it. If you do then don't think you will be coming back. Better say goodbye to your family. Just Google what human traffickers get per head. In my opinion I can say that I believe POF is up for reasons other than a dating site. Every single person on this site has the same MO. Every one of them did the same thing to me.
When I first put up my profile, I did not have a picture right away and before I could get on the site I had over 10 messages. This happened prior to me finishing my profile. Prior to me hitting submit. Shocking when one guy liked my smile...No picture. What does that tell YOU? WARNING SIGNS: • Career Most Used: Engineer, Architect, Geologist, Construction and Service men. 9 out 10 were Engineers. How is that? • Born in other countries – This is done for several reasons. Read below. • Their looks or voice do not match up with their native country Nor does their name. • They work all over the country. • Wife passed from tragic death. • Tells you they have accent. • Child with nanny. • Provide you with their birth date. In hopes you will follow and do the same. Yes, I got that from a guy but who knows it could be a women behind it. You never know. • Sad story telling. • Try to involve you with their job, they will say they need your help.
• Leaving out of the country for work with a week of communicating with you. • They're from another county to explain away their accent however, one guy tells me he is from France and his mother is Peruvian but his accent was Nigerian. (You get the picture). • Use language such as I love to kiss and hold hand, do you like public intimacy? Do you like passionate kissing? You are so beautiful that you are the one to get me off POF. Words that are never used by men in general. It’s to entice the weak. Please don't let that be you, real men/women do not talk like that which means they are a smooth talker. Learn to pick up on the signs.
• Uses texting only or email. They do not want you to hear their voice. They are operating out of the county or they are married. It's best to call the number and hear the person you are communicating with or see if the number comes from a text messaging service. It will tell you. • Emails a lengthy profile. Men and women just do not do that. These are scammers trying to get as much information out of you as they can. The theory is If they provide information you feel obligated to provide the same. What happens when they work out of town, they have an emergency, they get mugged or something bad happens to pull on your heart strings and then ask for money.
I was able to learn all of this in just a couple of weeks on POF. It was the same thing over and over. The best thing I can offer is "listen to your gut", that is your mother know best gut talking. I really do hope this helps many and maybe get law enforcement to act on these sites. The other thing that I noticed and the reason I am suspicious of POF. All of the men that contacted me were not in the search engine. Nowhere to be found except in my email. I guess POF allows people to hide their profile but respond to other profiles. Why does POF give this much power away if it does not benefit them in some way? POF requires you to post a picture or the profiles is removed but there are many profiles without pictures. WHY? My sister is having the same issues on Facebook.

* * * Warning!!! Warning!!! Warning!!! Warning!!! * * * Do not use this website or any others operated by Match Group, Inc.!!! This company has, and continues to be, the subject of countless class action lawsuits in the U.S., Canada, and all over Europe. They have settled a shocking amount of lawsuits for committing fraud (I.E., Fake profiles, fake messages, spam bots, fraudulent billing practices, lying about cancelling memberships, lying to consumers, etc.).
They insulate themselves from external contact so you are unable to complain. If you reach out to them online, you will immediately find that they will send you generic e-mails (I.E., "Thank you for contacting us", "your feedback is important", etc. ), But they will not assist you in any way with actual problems. They make it impossible to contact them in any other way - if you have any doubts about these statements, just try for yourself and see what happens.
Aside from class action lawsuits, consumers have gotten no responses regarding claims, requests for refunds, reports of fraud, etc. The only reason that any laws exist for this service are due to extensive class action lawsuits which they lost over and over; and the only laws that protect consumers from this company's fraudulent business model are in Canada, Europe, and states in the U.S. where suits were already won. They have a legal policy of only protecting consumers in states and countries where they have been forced to by the courts and extensive legal settlements.
Pay attention to the negative reviews and see how many positive reviews you can find out of thousands... you may be surprised at the stories, comments, and complaints that you find, and wonder how they still operate in the U.S. They even got caught using the profile of a deceased U.S. Soldier. This company is a disgrace, do not trust them or you will regret it. Don't just believe me, see what all of the other people who have reviewed them have to say and decide for yourself.

During this phase it tells you that your profile is on fire. After the couple of hours are over, no more communication and the profile pics change. I've had much better luck on MATCH.COM and that's where I'm going back. POF HELP CENTER is A SCAM!!!

POF seems to have very strange priorities. They're very obsessed with blocking out any form of sexuality, o much so that they edited a guy's profile because he mentioned bartending and cocktails, which they turned into **. Yet, they don't seem to have good control over their own coding and settings. Despite a setting saying I only want to be contacted by local people, I keep getting messages from people in other parts of the country. Unless I slept through a bunch of earthquakes, Florida and California definitely aren't within the 75 mile limit on my contact filters. Even though they obsess over **, there are still plenty of ** pictures. Clearly, they don't have their act together. E for effort, though... and P for prude, too.

When you sign up for the free version, you will be barraged with emails informing you that this one and that one wants to meet you, viewed your profile, faved you, etc. They will tell you a user's specific name as well... but then you cannot look up the user by the name. But then, to see who the people are that faved, want to meet, viewed ya, etc, POF will tell you that it is required to buy a membership. I ain't losing my mind, I bought a membership and then suddenly, there were no one viewed me, no who wants to meet me people, no one faved me, etc.
So the bottom line: POF sends fake emails to make you think people are already interested, etc, just so that you will buy a membership. After buying a membership and realizing that all the emails from POF had links which when clicked on lead to nothing, I emailed and asked for a refund. They did not ask me why or if anything was wrong. They promptly refunded me. My messages to them for technical support or an understanding of the site were not answered at all.

POF.com was a stable website and has fast good results. I like the layout of the website. It looked smooth and I was able to navigate it easily. I like the variety of people and the overall ease of it. I like the name and it has plenty of fish. It’s charmed. The people was honest. I also liked the members and everyone was very friendly except a few bad eggs lol. Profile customization wasn’t that very good at all but it was good in some areas. Criteria was also lacking. However, there wasn’t a mobile app for my device so I never really used it. Some of the women are rude. The main thing I dislike is the no app for Amazon as that’s a real let down.

POF is very particular in question and very easy to customize. Finds very specific matches. The questions are in depth and meaningful when it comes to find someone you are compatible with. I usually have common matches on this site more than other platforms. Every user seems to be legit. Most dating sites have mostly fake users. I enjoy the way POF is currently set up. But for some the name including fish is offputting.

I wish I knew how they matched. It was hard to find women who are my type. I dont think the chemistry test was true to who I was. The profile customization is good, could be better. While POF is ok, I like being able to block unwanted people. I also like that I could put what my personality is. I like being able to list my interest. Though these could be dealt with better. Other things I like are based on people using the app and less about the app itself. All in all, the site looks easy to use.

All I saw was pic's of weed instead of photos. And all there is, is criminals like ex-cons on that site. I know personally that there are a lot of ex-cons cause when I would talk on the phone each guy would say he just got out of jail. I meet a guy that only had old pictures of himself on his profile. When I went to meet him he looked like he was way older than those pictures. I told him I wouldn't date him and I left. I am just going to try other dating sites. NEVER USE PLENTY OF FISH. It's GARBAGE!

My experience with POF.com was ok. Seems to me like it is more for people to hook up or for sexual experiences. I would like dating sites that filter out sexual content because thats just not what Im looking for when Im looking for a date with someone. I did not want to give it another go. It wasnt that great of an experience for me as a person. It was just a bad site all around. Definitely will not give it another go in this lifetime.

There was nothing wrong with POF.com but, most of the men on there were middle aged ** men. Now, I don't have a problem with middle aged ** men, they are not my type at all. If I wanted a sugar daddy, then I would go to a sugar daddy website. All in all, none of the men peaked my interest, so it was a total waste of time for me. I don't think I'll be doing that again. Not now. Not ever.

My overall experience with POF has been completely terrible, most guys just want to hook up, and even when I find someone who can possibly be my good match, he completely ghosts me. I've been on this site for over a year and have found NO ONE. Just time wasters. Also, I dislike that the guys just want to meet and get some from you, the fact you have to pay REAL LIFE MONEY just to be noticed more by potential suitors, when all those suitors is just wanting one thing in general. I also dislike how when you send a message, it completely exits you out, and most of the time you wont even get a notification. Lastly, I dislike the errors they have or when the site messes up, they really need to fix their things.
Even so, I like that there are good looking guys I get to stare at, the swipe feature is pretty unique in its own way as well. Being able to choose who you would like to meet and who you'd like to steer 50,000 yards away from is something to pull the drive in this kind of site. I also like being able to put up as many photos as I want, as I can share my overall growth on this site.

POF was an interesting dating site that I used since it really narrows down the choices of people and I like that some of them find people that you have things in common with. It makes it easier to have conversations or at the very least conversation starters. Also I like that you can see so much information about somebody and review them before you send them a message. But I don't like that some people can be absolutely profane and horrible but not be punished or have their accounts removed. I also hate the feature that lets random members send pictures of themselves to you since they send really perverse, disgusting pictures and then I end up banning 30-40 people in less than 48 hours.

Plenty of Fakes: This site was not worth my money, so many women were scam artists, met one who begged for pictures, then complained! I was completely clothed! (Found out she was from Philippines)! She was desperate to get married but I didn't want her, too scary, Guys, not worth the time, all they want is pictures and play games! All the women want is to pull up your pants!

I love the diversity in people on the site, how friendly everyone is, how easy to use, etc. I do enjoy how the site itself is set up. I love the customization the site allows on profiles. However, I dislike the overly long application process and how many fake accounts there are. Despite not having as many fake accounts as other dating sites it still has quite a few and I do believe that issue can be fixed. The site and app itself times out on my phone way faster than it really should which made registering a pain. Overall pretty positive experience with Plenty Of Fish. I have found it easy to find and see many potential matches. Matches were all within my area.
