I have received a humiliating and cease and desist letter. It seems that a gentleman does not want me to communicate with my own friends on this public service. The damages are the denial of free speech within the rules of the Facebook content. Censorship is not acceptable. There is no evidence or messages as of this date that anyone else complained about my communication.

On Monday, March 30, 2009, at 2:45pm (Singapore Time), I received a warning email. Before 2:58pm, I was booted out and my account was disabled. I've sent emails to disabled@facebook.com, abuse@facebook.com, and appeals@facebook.com with no response. After reading **, I was appalled to find out that my account disablement might be due to sending too many messages to friends (who have already accepted my friend invites) at a timing deemed by Facebook to be too short a time.
I've send out numerous emails to the above stated without any result. My account was disabled without ample warnings. If you notice, the time on the warning email was less than 15 minutes. I didn't read it until I was booted out because it was sent to my email account instead of the Facebook notifications or messaging service. My account was very important to me because my husband works really long hours, and Facebook was our only way of communication. I've pleaded my case to their administrators. I've made my inquires on which regulations did I breach. The warning email, as you can read from below, did not state the supposed breach of regulations I've committed. How do I remain within their regulations if I don't even know what did I do wrong? By the way, I did read their terms and conditions, and I highly doubt I breached their regulations.
Till today, I've yet to receive a response from Facebook. All I got was an automated reply saying that they will get back to me... please read our terms and conditions. I really need help. In fact, what brings about the search for a venue to complain was this numerous amount of people being abused this way. Not a single thing was done. Some of the accounts were never reinstated. We did not do anything wrong here. If we are to be punished this way, just for sending messages, then it's not fair. This is not spam; we are not harassing anyone. Why do this to so many people?
This is just way too depressing, and to think I resisted Facebook for so long. It seems that our account has been held hostage by Facebook. Our life hangs in the balance waiting for that one email to say that our accounts have been re-activated. How long do we have to wait for this to happen? When it does, Facebook doesn't provide answers or apologies to why we were disabled in the first place. How to prevent us from being disabled in the future, nobody knows and nobody can give a definite answer. To whom shall we cry out to when this cyber bullying continues? I was happy for a while when I could talk to my husband while he's still at work. Now, all I can do every day is to wait for him to come home. By the time he does, I would only have a couple hours of sleep before I have to get up and go to work.

I have a personal account with Facebook. I have started a foundation to help abused and troubled kids. I have hundreds of great comments and encouragement from Facebook members and they, for no reason, have disabled my account. Other people solicit their causes, charities etc. My attorney even wrote to them and got no response. They are damaging me. However, when I was contacted by a 419 scammer, they did nothing. They will allow negative material on the site but attacked me for positive material. They need to lose their right to do business.
I am losing support and contacts that can and will further my cause. I am concerned people will think I have done something wrong and I have not. I am going to call Sacramento and complain to the assembly woman who applauded my effort and offered help. I also will use the media to expose what they are doing.

My last name is **. It's the name I was given by my parents, but I was wondering what it would be like to use my mother's maiden name as my last name instead. Just for a day or two... After 2 months, Facebook still has not let me change my name back to **. The message I get from Facebook is the following: "Your name change request has been rejected by our automated approval system." I have written 2 emails to no avail. So, I tried changing my name to a more acceptable name, and the system lets me do it. What a surprise that was. Is this not clearly discrimination? What legitimate reason does Facebook have to deny me my name? I don't know exactly how to express what I'm thinking.

This acquaintance has photos on her Facebook that include me. I asked her to remove them but she refuses. She never had prior permission, and I told her in writing to remove them once I discovered her posting of photos that included me. She refuses to remove the photos, and is now, in fact, naming me and making comments on her Facebook about my pettiness for asking her to do so.
I explained to this woman that I am a government employee and in Human Resources. I understand as an employer the extent of internet resources available than can be used, which can impact a person's credibility and reputation with their employer and potential employers. Not only does this person have photos of me available, she is now specifically naming me and badmouthing me on her page. This is unacceptable. I have been interviewing and cannot risk this type of activity. Please remind her of the agreement. This person is discrediting me and is negatively impacting my reputation, my potential for employment opportunities, and my good name. She has deliberately chosen to discredit me and refuses to remove any and all photos and content.

Within five minutes of opening my account at Facebook, I received a text message on my mobile from a Facebook user wanting to "add me", and three emails were received in my Yahoo email account (which I used to create the Facebook account). The three emails were from Dice and COMCAST, and thanked me for my recent inquiries! THIS SEEMS LIKE FRAUD TO ME, as I never provided my mobile number to Facebook. I really hope I am wrong, but it appears that someone at FACEBOOK then plugged my FACEBOOK email and password into COMCAST and DICE websites and were successful. I immediately called COMCAST to have them put a security notation on my account, and changed all my account passwords everywhere. I left voicemail with FACEBOOK (650-543- 4800) and sent them email, but they have not responded.
CAUTION to those using FACEBOOK: I do not know how else someone got access to my COMCAST and DICE info and mobile number (from my DICE resume) only minutes after opening up my FACEBOOK account. IF YOU USE FACEBOOK, USE a separate email that you are not using elsewhere, and use a different password than what you may use elsewhere. CONSEQUENCES otherwise could be IDENTITY theft (which nearly happened to me). Thanks all, and be careful!

Count yourselves lucky. I can't even access Facebook at all! All I get is this "page cannot be displayed"! All the effort I've put into creating my account and linking up with friends, new and old alike, and now it's all gone. I have a disability and depression, and the only real way of contacting anyone outside of my own little world is via social networking, and as most of my friends only use Facebook, that rules out having regular contact, as a lot of them don't use their Windows Live Messenger either. Just leaves me very sad that I've lost the important form of contact because I can't get Facebook on my computer at all anymore. I'm even more annoyed, as every other webpage works. It's just the Facebook that doesn't.

All these scams on your advertising section regarding earning $5000 a month working from home or about people who are glad they lost their jobs, all take you to eMillionaire website and I now know this is all a scam and it HAS TO BE STOPPED. They claim it only costs $1, and stupidly, I got sucked in like so many others according to blogs I have now read. They say there is a full 30-day money back guarantee but the phone numbers and email address are all incorrect (convenient!). So how are you supposed to get hold of them to cancel subscription once you discover it is a scam? Are you just supposed to let them withdraw money from your account every month???? Please ban these ads. They are just morally wrong and aren't even associated with Google as they say they are. I beg you; please have these ads stopped so no one else gets stung!

The "What your friends really think about you" feature has recently been introduced to Facebook in the UK - it invites you to answer a number of questions about your various contacts - I thought it was a bit of harmless fun. Now I'm no prude, but when it asks questions such as "Does ** like it ** fashion" or "Has ** ever used sex to further her career" - questions aimed at my daughter, about my mother, about my son's fiancee, etc., I get more than a little annoyed. My daughter's friend recently had a baby and posted a beautiful picture of her nursing (i.e. discretely breast-feeding) her new born baby - the picture was removed by Facebook describing it as **.
I cannot, in my mind, reconcile this apparent moral hypocrisy and have unsubscribed from Facebook - I joined to keep in touch with my friends and family, not to be bombarded with this mindless **. What I was brought up to believe is acceptable and unacceptable seems to have been turned on its head - maybe I'm just getting old.

I used Facebook for approx. 2 years without a hitch and many of my school friends and family found me no issue. Two weeks ago, I went to log in and got a notice that my account has an invalid name and if I want in, I have to change it. For very personal reasons having to do with relatives and the like, I had chosen to go by a nickname for the last 24 years of my life. My friends and family all know me as Druid and had no trouble finding me on Facebook.
But now that I have been forced to change to a name that I despise, I am stuck with 2 choices - drop my social contacts that I have remade and just delete my account or explain the embarrassment that is my name to a large number of both close and casual acquaintances. Any attempt to explain this has been met with long (up to a week in one case) delayed responses of a very ignorant nature. In the end, I will probably move accounts but since putting my legal name up (not written anywhere in their usage policy I might add), I have had 3 phone calls and 6 e-mails from friends who think my account has been hacked and it has by the administrators of Facebook.

I've been using Facebook for a while and I've never had problems until now. I was checking my private messages on Facebook. I decided to leave my computer and come back about half an hour later and go back on to reply to another message but I was logged off. At first, I thought this was normal until I typed in my password and Facebook said my email or password was invalid. After trying to retype my password a few more times, I decided to reset my password. Then Facebook said my email did not exist. I did some research and I found that several people had the same issue as far as September and none seem to have resolved the problem yet. I called 1-650-853-130-0111 hoping I can get help but it was an automated message that replied with terrible service. It just seems a bit frustrating to me that this happened so unexpectedly and Facebook's poor customer service. It's also making it harder to contact old friends for not only me, but also everyone else who has this problem.

This company will not give info to the reasons, will not allow me to rectify anything that may be unknowingly wrong, and will not reply to numerous emails or phone calls. I joined Facebook because I needed an outlet. I was recently diagnosed with MS, and I do not get around like I used to anymore. It is depressing and lonely. This quest for results and account restoration has left me overly stressed...not something that my doctor wants for me. I have spent all weekend trying to get answers to no avail! I am even trembling writing this. I know it is just a website, but it is more than that when you stand accused of something and you feel that you are innocent. I am embarrassed that I have to explain this to my friends who call looking for me online. I don't have my other friends' emails, so I cannot contact them. Without access to my account, I could no longer contact my friend, and I therefore spent over $2,000 in travel expenses and wasted time that I cannot get back. Facebook should at least provide a warning before shutting off service so that people can transfer their data to another resource. I get a warning from ConEd before they turn off my power -- why should Facebook be any different??

I have just written back to Facebook to ask them why they continue to antagonise and discriminate against me because my name is unusual. No doubt they will ignore me all together or send me the usual standard robotic response... I don't mean to sound like a drama queen, but as much fun as Facebook is, sometimes i really do question if it is worth it. I can appreciate that they will never keep all their users happy but i feel as if i am purposely antagonised by the Facebook User Operations team, in particular BELLA and it has affected me physically in a number of ways
The main effect is probably stress. Suddenly being cut off by all my friends, family and colleagues for days on end. Having my connections fried! My photos, groups, events, messages, notes and gifts all vanish forever. It's quite distressing. I'd even go as far as to say that they've made me feel depressed at times. There are numerous groups on Facebook petitioning for not only MY return but the return of other people who have been unfairly disabled without a proper explanation. Not to mention those petitioning once and for all for Facebook to stop disabling EVERYONE for stupid reasons.
Just to be clear... for me, this is not about money. This is about me being treated differently to other users of Facebook. This is about me being affected by the persistently antagonistic working practice of the Facebook User Operations Team. If i could write to Mark Zuckerberg (CEO) i would've done it already, but he's a tough guy to get hold of....

I am siick of going into an application and the message reads one of your friends have ..... and when you click on it, its an advertisment for something. This is false advertising and an absolute nuisance to me and fellow users. This is not acceptable. I click on these things hoping I have a message from a friend but all I get is a company trying to sell me things. If this does not stop I will cancel my account with facebook.
The physical damage is the mental damage to myself as this site is my only way of comunicating with friends and if i get a false message saying one of your friends sent this or invited you to a specific page you will click on it. its not fair

I sent a message to a former friend of mine, basically asking him why he's been ignoring my messages.
He reported me to Facebook as having harassed him, which I certainly did not. Facebook is unwilling to discuss the issue besides pasting the obvious nonsense,
In regards to the warning that you have received, we do not allow users to send threatening, sexually explicit, or harassing messages to others. Unsolicited messages will also not be tolerated. Unfortunately, for technical and security reasons, we are unable to provide further details regarding your warning. In order to prevent this from happening in the future, please refrain from sending messages of this kind. For more information on conduct prohibited by Facebook, please read our Terms of Use, which can be accessed by clicking on the terms link at the bottom of any Facebook page.
I have asked over and over for a human to review the issue, and have been ignored. I have even sent a BBB complaint and have been ignored. What must I do to get an actual human who is willing to review the issue?

Facebook has provided a simple online and near instant means of communication for students to be connected to their school. However, by adding multiple applications to the Facebook network the company is moving in a direction that puts people in danger.
One example of this is their latest means to create funds for the company--an application called 'docs'. They have outsourced a company called Scribd so students can view works of other students. The danger lies in the outcomes of such a convenience: Plagiarism.
Plagiarism is something that school administrations have been working hard and tirelessly to make students aware of what it is, how to avoid it, and its consequences. Facebook is now providing a direct link to a site that offers a "Great Library of Schoolwork" where anyone can contribute.
Over 50,000 documents have been uploaded, including problems sets, ebooks, lecture notes, and random funny stuff. This is an instant and free link to view works of other individuals. The simple act of providing this link undermines the protection efforts of the academia community.
Applications such as these skew the serious nature of plagiarism. Plagiarism is an easily misunderstood concept with severe consequences. Providing links such as these to unaware or misguided consumers is a danger to school systems, and individual people (i.e. students).
The company Facebook seems to understand this danger. In the protection of their company they have this to say about the application: Facebook is providing links to these applications as a courtesy, and makes no representations regarding the applications or any information related to them. Any questions regarding an application should be directed to the developer.
This statement is a disguise (via a back door) to hide and remove the responsibility of their company to ethically protect their users.
