About a year ago my facebook account was disabled without warning and after a number of emails to try to find out why i was finaly told only that i broke facebook terms and conditions.I really cant for the life of me workout how i done this as i have always been polite and friendly towards people on facebook.
The only problem i ever had was i got a warning once for sending to many messages, this was due to using one of the applications called SOCIAL ME...which is all about sending messages to people. It is nearly a year later and i have just been told by a friend that pictures of me are still viewable on a application called OWNED and people are still able to buy and sell these pictures of me. I have contact facebook again over this and after 2 weeks of waiting just recieved an email stating that my account is disabled and will not be reinstated or not allowed access to it for a few hours to delete these pictures.also that they will not discuss that matter any more with me.

Just over a week ago my facebook account (Pierre Le Roux - paleroux_jnr@telkomsa.net) was disabled. Numerous e-mails by me and various other concerned parties have been sent to them without any response. Associated to my profile was also a Facebook Page that promoted my personal blog which as a result was also disabled. Facebook seems unresponsive to my request for an explanation, and I believe as a consumer I have a right to some answers and a right to state my case, if I transgressed any of their terms of service.

Like the first Faye that wrote about her password being changed, mine too has been changed. No one will get back to me with help and I have some info and pictures that I do not want the cyber world to have. I would at least like to delete that account if they are not going to help me use it. What a spoof Facebook is. Is this not illegal? To me it's a privacy issue. A hacker has hacked my account perhaps yet Facebook will do nothing. So much for privacy.

Three weeks ago, i discovered my account was disabled without warning and i am concerned that someone had gained access to my account and personal information for the second time in a month. I have yet to receive a response for 21 days.
A month ago, my account was hacked and an individual began requesting money from my friends. Facebook froze the account and sent me a new password. I never had the opportunity to log onto the main site to change this temporary password and had only used the mobile app to send a couple of quick comments to friends of mine. I am positive none of the comments i sent violated the terms of service as they were all sent to close acquaintences and i received no prior notice to warn me of any malicious activity. I am concerned that if my account was hacked again that someone may have access to my personal information and due to the lack of a response detailing why the account was disabled, i can not be sure this has not happened again.

I had a facebook account for awhile, I didn’t use it much for over a year, maybe more. I added a friend at the friend's request and within a few days I ended up adding dozens of friends through a network of friends (close to 100). I was a prominent member of an organization of which former members now seek support through networking tools like facebook.
In addition to adding many friends I did have some nude pictures on there, I admit that I did not read the fine print and I thought that only a few friends could see the pictures. I’m a little surprised that freedoms are surpressed and censorship is so punitive when facebook friendships are restricted to only those you allow to see your account. What happens between friends is the business of facebook? I was sharing pictures with close friends only. I wouldn’t want my mom to see them, therefore I wouldn’t accept her as a friend. Without warning my account was disabled. I have mixed feelings about it. I question how “private” facebook is and I question their “punishment.” There was never an opportunity to correct the situation, which I would have gladly done. I question the “right” facebook has to allow you to establish a network that they arbitrarily take away, without any kind of due process there will be friends with which I will never be able to reconnect. There are limits to how much any business can regulate or censor its customers, even violate their constitutional rights, when they invite the public to their business. If I am in a store and the store doesn’t like a picture I show a friend, can the store kick me out? Can they ban me from the store permanently? How far does public policy allow us to go with the censorship? Facebook is a private company, but so is the telephone company and they can't disconnect a call because they don’t like the subject of my conversation. The post office is not public and they can't refuse to deliver mail for which they find the contents offensive. If I violate the policies of the phone company, post office or any store they do not have the right to dismiss me permanently without a warning, notice or hearing. Personally, I think it is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Generally harm or loss must attach. In addition to the emotional distress people suffer, what about the connections people make to stay with others around the world? When those connections are lost, it isn’t difficult to calculate a monetary loss. In addition to many other scenarios, there may even be medical or healthcare advice being exchanged that could cause serious injury or death. I realize that facebook is putting the public on “notice” when it has the policy online. However, those wrap-around or adhesion contracts do not stand up in every state. Facebook should have an expectation that they could be hauled into court in any jurisdicton through long arm statutes and international treaty. I’m sure they address that in their “contract” as well, but, again, those don’t always stand up. What’s also interesting is that apparently some receive a warning and some do not. This is but one of the warnings found on facebook’s “help center warnings.” “You received this warning because a photo or video that you uploaded has been removed for violating Facebook’s Terms of Use. Photos and videos containing nudity, drug use, or other graphic content are not allowed, nor are photos or videos that depict violence or that attack an individual or group. Unfortunately, for technical reasons, we are unable to provide further information about the removed content. In order to prevent this from happening in the future, please refrain from posting photos or videos of this kind and remove any that still exist on the site.” http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page=421 Apparently there are different standards for different individuals. It would be interesting to see the different standards used for different groups. In other words, is facebook discriminating? Does facebook have less tolerance for gays, lesbians, blacks, hispanics, women, etc.? They invited the public, they have to play by the rules of our society. The rules include some constitutional rights. While it is true that I don't have to join facebook anymore than I have to go to a store, it is also true that no one ever said facebook had to open a business and invite the public.

I have written over 24 inquires and also sent back over 24 verification and have not yet recieved my 'reset password'.
I am able to receive the notifications about the ongoing activity on my facebook page, but am unable to login. I have tried calling Facebook, but the operator was very rude and curt. She told me that facebook did not offer 'over-the-phone' help and hung up on me. I have also written to 'info@facebook.com' many times, but I have heard nothing from them at all. I am annoyed, fustrated and very, very angry. If I am not able to access to my account, I would like to be able to DELETE it. But because of my lack of access, I am not able to do so. On Monday, March 30, 2009, at 2:45pm (Singapore Time), I received a warning email. Before 2:58pm, I was booted out and my account was disabled. I've sent emails to disabled@facebook.com, abuse@facebook.com, and appeals@facebook.com with no response. After reading **, I was appalled to find out that my account disablement might be due to sending too many messages to friends (who have already accepted my friend invites) at a timing deemed by Facebook to be too short a time.

I've send out numerous emails to the above stated without any result. My account was disabled without ample warnings. If you notice, the time on the warning email was less than 15 minutes. I didn't read it until I was booted out because it was sent to my email account instead of the Facebook notifications or messaging service. My account was very important to me because my husband works really long hours, and Facebook was our only way of communication. I've pleaded my case to their administrators. I've made my inquires on which regulations did I breach. The warning email, as you can read from below, did not state the supposed breach of regulations I've committed. How do I remain within their regulations if I don't even know what did I do wrong? By the way, I did read their terms and conditions, and I highly doubt I breached their regulations.

Till today, I've yet to receive a response from Facebook. All I got was an automated reply saying that they will get back to me... please read our terms and conditions. I really need help. In fact, what brings about the search for a venue to complain was this numerous amount of people being abused this way. Not a single thing was done. Some of the accounts were never reinstated. We did not do anything wrong here. If we are to be punished this way, just for sending messages, then it's not fair. This is not spam; we are not harassing anyone. Why do this to so many people?

This is just way too depressing, and to think I resisted Facebook for so long. It seems that our account has been held hostage by Facebook. Our life hangs in the balance waiting for that one email to say that our accounts have been re-activated. How long do we have to wait for this to happen? When it does, Facebook doesn't provide answers or apologies to why we were disabled in the first place. How to prevent us from being disabled in the future, nobody knows and nobody can give a definite answer. To whom shall we cry out to when this cyber bullying continues? I was happy for a while when I could talk to my husband while he's still at work. Now, all I can do every day is to wait for him to come home. By the time he does, I would only have a couple hours of sleep before I have to get up and go to work.

I have hundreds of great comments and encouragement from Facebook members and they, for no reason, have disabled my account. They will allow negative material on the site but attacked me for positive material. They need to lose their right to do business.

I am losing support and contacts that can and will further my cause. I am concerned people will think I have done something wrong and I have not. I am going to call Sacramento and complain to the assembly woman who applauded my effort and offered help. I also will use the media to expose what they are doing.

I got the message that my account had been disable because I violated some code. I read their code and there is nothing described there that I would ever do. I suspect it is a problem with my e-mail as I set it up under an address that I don't use now that the campaign is over. I can only suspect that is the case as they will not respond to my questions. I set up my first Facebook account about a month ago with no incident. I saw that several of my friends had both personal accounts and accounts in their business name, and since my husband and I just opened a new restaurant, I figured it would be a good idea to set up one for the business. I used another email address to do it, and once it was set up, I went in and changed the contact email to my usual address, the same one my personal page was using. I had no idea it would ELIMINATE the link to my personal account, and when I contacted Help to get it fixed, they never responded, but disabled BOTH my accounts. I am not some kid that uses this service to play and talk to my buds. I use it for business contacts, etc. I have written to Help almost every day for over a week now, asking them to restore my personal account, as it is still obviously active because I'm receiving friend requests and messages, but I can't get to any to respond. I have not received a single response, even though I have used all means of requesting help -- through their my account has been wrongly disabled link, the regular help link and others. I am also considering launching a law suit here in SC because of their horrible service, and not even given anyone the chance to argue their point. My personal account is legal and has no problems. It is still active on their servers, yet I, as the owner of it, is locked out of it while others can access it. All I did was innocently set up another account, and did not realize this was wrong, since I can name at least 20 people I know personnally that have at least 2 FB accounts, for their business or otherwise. It seems all my FB interaction has gotten me is to put me on some list for Facebook Adult that sends me messages about erotic dancers. Obviously this is an unwelcome intrusion, but must be somehow linked to Facebook, because I never got these emails until I signed up. How can we force FB to at least respond to our emails. They don't list a phone number, but I'm going to put my best detective efforts to that pursuit. They are falsely advertising a help service that doesn't respond in any way, and are wrongly disabling accounts for no good reason, and without even considering our side of the story. I think they should be dismantled, and all of us reimbursed for the wasted time we've spent trying to work with them.

This company will not give info to the reasons, will not allow me to rectify anything that may be unknowingly wrong, and will not reply to numerous emails or phone calls. In my eyes, I have done nothing wrong. They have cut me off from friends and family. I am frustrated and humiliated.

I joined Facebook because I needed an outlet. I was recently diagnosed with MS, and I do not get around like I used to anymore. It is depressing and lonely. This quest for results and account restoration has left me overly stressed...not something that my doctor wants for me. I have spent all weekend trying to get answers to no avail! I am even trembling writing this. I know it is just a website, but it is more than that when you stand accused of something and you feel that you are innocent. I am embarrassed that I have to explain this to my friends who call looking for me online. I don't have my other friends' emails, so I cannot contact them. Even my husband has an account with his business, and he is very angry with this company for making a fool of me!

Without access to my account, I could no longer contact my friend, and I therefore spent over $2,000 in travel expenses and wasted time that I cannot get back. Facebook should at least provide a warning before shutting off service so that people can transfer their data to another resource. I get a warning from ConEd before they turn off my power -- why should Facebook be any different??

I have been a user of Facebook for over a year. In this time, i have my profile disabled numerous times for the following reasons. -Spamming (replying to too many of my friends messages and sending messages to my groups. I mean, if these people don't want to get my group messages, then why join my group?) -Harrassment (they won't go into detail but i'm pretty certain that they disabled me on the say so of a woman who used her account (who has since been disabled for being a fake!) to have me disabled. I can assure you, i have harrassed NO ONE) When i started a new profile on Facebook, the first message i got was from [her] goading me. I blocked her that very instant and avoided all contact with her. After was disabled she continued to harrass me with her real account by following me around and commenting on various groups, videos, postings or photos that i was connected with, just so that i would receive a notification from Facebook. I reported her harrassing me to Facebook but she is still lording it up on there... -Fake Name (Apparently my name is a fake and even though i've provided them with a scan of my passport this is not good enough...

Today, i lost my profile again. The message i recieved was as follows: Hi, Fake names are a violation of our Terms of Use. Facebook requires users to provide their full first and last names (i.e. no initials). The question is why ME? Why are they doing this to me simply because i have an unusual name? I have just written back to Facebook to ask them why they continue to antagonise and discriminate against me because my name is unusual. No doubt they will ignore me all together or send me the usual standard robotic response... I don't mean to sound like a drama queen, but as much fun as Facebook is, sometimes i really do question if it is worth it. I can appreciate that they will never keep all their users happy but i feel as if i am purposely antagonised by the Facebook User Operations team, in particular BELLA and it has affected me physically in a number of ways

The main effect is probably stress. Suddenly being cut off by all my friends, family and colleagues for days on end. Having my connections fried! My photos, groups, events, messages, notes and gifts all vanish forever. It's quite distressing. I'd even go as far as to say that they've made me feel depressed at times. There are numerous groups on Facebook petitioning for not only MY return but the return of other people who have been unfairly disabled without a proper explanation. Not to mention those petitioning once and for all for Facebook to stop disabling EVERYONE for stupid reasons.

Just to be clear... for me, this is not about money. This is about me being treated differently to other users of Facebook. This is about me being affected by the persistently antagonistic working practice of the Facebook User Operations Team. If i could write to Mark Zuckerberg (CEO) i would've done it already, but he's a tough guy to get hold of....

Facebook has provided a simple online and near instant means of communication for students to be connected to their school. However, by adding multiple applications to the Facebook network the company is moving in a direction that puts people in danger.

One example of this is their latest means to create funds for the company--an application called 'docs'. They have outsourced a company called Scribd so students can view works of other students. The danger lies in the outcomes of such a convenience: Plagiarism.

Plagiarism is something that school administrations have been working hard and tirelessly to make students aware of what it is, how to avoid it, and its consequences. Facebook is now providing a direct link to a site that offers a "Great Library of Schoolwork" where anyone can contribute.

Over 50,000 documents have been uploaded, including problems sets, ebooks, lecture notes, and random funny stuff. This is an instant and free link to view works of other individuals. The simple act of providing this link undermines the protection efforts of the academia community.

Applications such as these skew the serious nature of plagiarism. Plagiarism is an easily misunderstood concept with severe consequences. Providing links such as these to unaware or misguided consumers is a danger to school systems, and individual people (i.e. students).

The company Facebook seems to understand this danger. In the protection of their company they have this to say about the application: Facebook is providing links to these applications as a courtesy, and makes no representations regarding the applications or any information related to them. Any questions regarding an application should be directed to the developer.

This statement is a disguise (via a back door) to hide and remove the responsibility of their company to ethically protect their users.
