They lock you out of your online acct and the only other way to contact them is by phone and they won't answer the phone. I have 80$ TracFone bill sitting. On hold for 1 and a half hours at a time till run out of min. Four times in a row then they are free to rape you blind. They scammed me out of 2300 to 2500 $ of my Harley money. This is just what america needs. A bunch of computer scamming diaper heads running our financial and banking institutes.

My son purchased one for me for 150.00 for Christmas. Went to use it, nothing on the card. Checked on line and someone had used it the day after Christmas. I called, filled out paperwork and on 5/1, 4 months later, received a new card. I called to activate on May 1, and waited 45 minutes, I hung up. Called again on May 2 and after 35 minutes on hold was able to speak to someone, he activated the card. For 146.00. He told me they charged a 4.00 fee to activate it.

I went to use it a few hours later, nada, nothing, rejected. Called again and waited another 35 minutes, the woman said 143.00 was used on May 1. I said impossible it wasn't activated yet. I told her that it needed to be corrected. Told me she was getting her supervisor, was on hold another 20 minutes and then she disconnected me. So safe to say I'm out of 150.00 by all the reviews. However, I'm going to the Attorney General to see if they can wipe Vanilla off of the Earth. This I believe is a foreign company. Not one person did I speak to from December to May spoke English well. Consumer Affairs, do your job before more people get ripped off.

Please! Do not purchase this card!! Your money will more than likely be stolen. I mean look at the previous comments before mine, they say their money was stolen off of their card. I had a gift from a close relative who put on supplement amount of money on the Vanilla Gift Card, and on the next day of the purchase, the money was so long gone. We checked on the Vanilla Giftcard website and saw that someone took the money and spent it on 'NOVUS TOUR INC'. A sketchy travel tour company. I have no more to say. I just want to warn those to never to buy this brand unless you want to see your money gone under the next 48hrs. Please warn others!! I am never going to buy this brand again!

When I did, I couldn't activate it because they thought I didn't know my birth year. I'm sitting on hold with customer service while writing this. These people suck!

Purchased a Vanilla Prepaid VISA to buy a subscription on my Xbox live account. Two hours later after finding an American phone number to talk to a non English speaking agent, I got to talk to a real person in regards to why I was unable to use my card. I just spend $100 on for a Xbox live subscription. All the Spanish undereducated representative “I understand“, “I understand”, “I understand“, literally cutting me off while I’m trying to explain to him my problem with the card and then he hangs up on me. WOW! Great customer service. Also the card you can’t use on PayPal or really ANYTHING unless you want to blow it on some online shopping, I wouldn’t recommend buying these cards. I spent 3 hours of my night trying to get this card to work on any site and I haven’t found one yet that isn’t a retailer selling clothing.

If I could give a zero I would. On the front of card it says "FUNDS DO NOT EXPIRE/CALL FOR NEW CARD" but yet I found out they have been deducting $2.50/month. So theoretically there could be $0.00 left on the card. Completely contradictory! I called to complain but they didn't do anything. We spend thousands upon thousands on gift cards for our family and friends a year. Will move to another form of gifting as they are a totally scam!

I got a Vanilla gift card and I used at decent secure places. On my most recent purchase, I returned the item that I had purchased and I got my refund in my vanilla gift card. But few days after getting my refund, the money that I have on the card (almost the same amount of the refund) was used in a unauthorized purchase. I wonder who has access to my card numbers and know them? I have try to call this business and they do not answer the phone, I have been on hold for 30 minutes. I opened an account online to try to found a dispute form to fill out and they do not provided it. There is not way to request a dispute. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY, IT IS NOT A TRUSTWORTHY ONE.

A friend had purchased Vanilla Gift Cards for me as a gift. The one that were marked with the amount on the card I was able to activate by adding a zip code at their website. For the card with funds added, the balance shows when I check the balance, and I was able to add a zip code, but when I attempt to use the card in the US where I'm located, I receive an error message that the zip code is not recognized. I'm guessing that this may be due to the fact that Vanilla only permits adding a zip code and not an entire address with zip code to the card. I'm able to use other Visa gift cards at the same websites where Vanilla Debit Gift Card is rejected due to the zip code not reognized error.

With other Visa gift cards I've received, I was able to add complete address and zip code so that they could be used like any other debit card. I called Vanilla CS since I was unable to locate an email address to their Customer Service Dept. There was an inordinately long wait and once I finally did reach a rep. all I received were excuses. The rep essentially said that if I receive the error it means the card can be used at brick and mortar stores where there are cashiers but can't be used online. My friend specifically had gifted the card for me to use for a purchase online. If the card can't be used online, I'd like a refund in cash for the card.

I've read some comment boards of complaints on this subject. Some consumers have claimed that it's the exp date here that's relevant. The exp date on the card is '27, so it being expired is not the issue. If there's something specific about this card that's limiting its use then Vanilla should swap it out by sending me a replacement that may be used online and at brick and mortar stores or update its process to attach a complete address and zip code to the card since the Visa gift cards which include this option haven't produced any errors. I wasted at least 30-60 min on the phone with a Vanilla rep and no solutions were provided.

The card now has a reputation of scamming people but they don't seem to care. I can assure you that when someone is giving someone a gift card attached to a Visa, they want the recipient to be able to spend it however they like. Using a gift card for online purchases is a standard use. It not being available with all Vanilla cards does make it seem like a scam. The card has 100 on it that I have been unable to use online.

I bought 3 gift cards on 12/21/19 for a xmas gift, gave them out on 12/25/19...In January 2020 my son-in-law tried to use his card and it was declined. I called Vanilla and they told me I had used this card. I explained I did not, they send the claim packet, which took a while to receive. After sending back the claim packet you need to wait 90 days, well I kept calling and come to find out they are accusing me of making online purchases at Target so my claim was denied, I asked to see my investigation and they told me they could not send me this.

So on the back of the card I called Mecca Bank which I talked with a Representative and she forwards to someone higher at Vanilla, so he calls me and tells me he would look into this, well that was March 11th. Now he does not answer or return calls. Not sure with all these complaints how this company is getting away with stealing people's monies. SHUT THEM DOWN. I will continue to call and get my money back, this is not right.

I purchased a One Vanilla Visa gift card at a nearby 7/11 store. I put $500 on it. I only used it like 3 times maybe more. So I called Customer Service about why I could not purchase anything on my card because I went to purchase something online with it and it kept saying my card was invalid. As I spoke to someone they told me that someone canceled my card and that the card is under their name and that it is being sent to their address. So asked who it may be. They said they could not tell me any of that information. So I asked to speak to their manager. They said I can go back to the merchant that sold me the card.

They said they cannot refund me any money and 7/11 said the same but 7/11 said if I speak to their manager they said I can get another receipt. So the Visa company said the only way I can get another card with my money back on it is if I prove that it's my card with a receipt sent to the Company. Also no one in my home ever tried taking things from me. I live with my family. So I know they would never do that. All I know is these cards are scammers.

I called and they said we can use it in a store or to get gas, but don't use it at the pump, you have to have the cashier swipe it. My husband tried to use it at the gas station. Again declined. I called and they said, "You have a balance of $10." (It was for $50.) I told him that's impossible, we haven't used it. It keeps getting declined. He said that's because the gas station is holding the funds, even though it was declined. Uggghh. He said the funds would be back on the card in three days.

We waited five days. We tried to use it today at Market Basket again. It said there was only $10 so we used the $10 and I called when I got home. I was told again the gas station is still holding the funds. Why I couldn't tell you since it was declined and paid for with a bank card. She said it will be back on the card by The 29th. The packaging says this card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted which is a total misrepresentation. I even went as far as contacting customer service at the sites where I had been declined in an attempt to solve the problem. I was told by each one they did not accept this card. Eventually I contacted customer service at One Vanilla. Once connected I spoke to a representative that answered my questions very pleasantly and professionally until I asked were there restrictions on the card.

He politely told me that the card could not be used on adult sites, legal gambling sites, etc which was mot of any interest to me anyway. When I asked could the card be used anywhere Visa is accepted which is what they state on the packaging, I was told yes if the merchant accepted the card. This was stated to me only after the representative danced around the question, until I asked the question, if there's a Visa sign on the window or door does that mean I can use this card there and his answer was NO, there may be restrictions. In my opinion there are many better prepaid cards which are more reliable and easier to use than this card. I gave this card one star because I could not go lower. If the card is advertised as being accepted anywhere Visa is accepted then it should be and if not then state that the cards have restrictions.

Their mother held them until Christmas Day. The boys were ecstatic. But when they tried to verify the balance on the card, one was told there was $8.75 remaining on the card and the other was told there was $13.02 remaining on his. On one card charges were made on November 25th and on the other they were made on Nov 25 and 26th. These were before I even gave them the cards!!!! So obviously someone got hold of these gift card numbers and the data and once I activated them on November 3rd they were able to use them. All the charges were here in California. I'm very disappointed that they continue to let people get robbed from this company and they do nothing.

I have used prepaid visa gift cards before, all of those were easy to use. But I use my money on this one for about an hour and now I am unable to buy anything. I have tried many things and have figured out that it is in fact the cards fault. I still have active money on their and there is no way for me to contact them in my situation. It is standard now to have other ways to get customer support besides calling. But not for Visa. I am unable to get to support any other way. So now I have 50$ on a card I cannot even use. I was very exited to be able to use it but now they decided that I am being scammed. All my purchases are normal to what I have been doing before. So now I will tear up what has turned into a useless piece of plastic and unlink it from all my accounts on Paypal, Venmo, and others. I used to love the visa gift cards but now not a cent of mine will ever touch a visa gift card.

Received a $100 prepaid Vanilla Mastercard from my employer for Christmas. Went to activate it so that I could take my daughters out for sushi as a Christmas treat. The card would not activate online or via phone. It told me the number was invalid. I called customer service to sort this out but was told someone else had already submitted a complaint about the same number, and they could provide no further information. This despite me having the card in hand and having just taken it out of its sealed package.

I asked to speak to a manager but was put on hold for over half an hour and finally gave up. I see these cards all the time being sold in credible major retail stores. I intend to find out where my employer purchased these so that I can file a complaint with the retailer. These were handed out to all our employees. I am in middle management so I can absorb this loss as a lesson learned. However, I am concerned for our employees who are lower on the wage scale and could really use this Christmas bonus my employer thought they were providing.

I dont even have an account with PayPal. She proceeded to read something off the computer which basically was telling me how to register and use the card. I told her nothing she is reading applies to what I called about. I was told PayPal has 45 days to respond and it takes up to 90 days for the funds to be returned to the card. This is beyond RIDICULOUS and legal action against the card maker needs to be taking. I refuse to let them get away doing this to people.

Updated on 02/15/2020: I received a $200 check in the mail yesterday. I put the check in my account straight away but it’s the weekend so we’ll see if the check clears on Monday. Let me tell you the process I took. I, like most others on here had a gift card. When I tried to use it it was declined. Checked balance and it had been used the minute it had been activated by someone in Texas to pay their cable bill and PayPal payment and Amazon purchase. I called Vanilla Gift Cards. I was given the run around. I kept calling and pestering them until they eventually emailed me a dispute form. I sent it back. They told me the usual story, 90 days to investigate blah blah blah.

Then I took the dispute number and logged a complaint with Better Business Bureau. I then called vanilla back and told them I’d reported them to BBB. Lo and behold I got a check in the mail 6 weeks later. I’d try that if you want to try see your money again. I’ll update on here next week whether the check clears or bounces.

Original review: I received a $200 gift card from my employer for Christmas. I went to use the card the day after it was given to me and it wouldn't work. I checked the balance on Vanilla website and it said I had a balance of $2. There were three transactions that had taken place. One to AT&T, and a further 2 to Amazon. The transactions had taken place in Texas. We live in North East Ohio! I called up the number on the back of the card and was told what everyone else is saying in these reviews - I would have to submit a dispute form and it will take 45 to 90 days to investigate. I asked why so long and the representative said it depends on how long it takes the merchant to respond to them! I told them this is not an issue with the merchant - this is an issue within their (vanilla’s) company! They said they can’t help! To submit the dispute form. As soon as this card was activated it was used by whoever in Texas within 24hrs!

It’s utter nonsense that this company can just take no responsibility for this. They are obviously aware this is happening! Or is the actual company a scam? When I asked for the address of where their “customer center” (I put that in inverted commas because there is no customer service with this company - just drones that read off a piece of paper or their reps are in on the scam too), the supervisor, Raven, would not say - she would only say South Asia! There you go folks - a total scam of a company! They know about this issue and are pretending not to know about it or they are the actual fraudsters themselves!

When I tried tapping it, nothing happened and the machine kept telling me to insert it. So I inserted it, but nothing happened still. The cashier took it and tried getting it to work, but had no luck. I gave up and paid with debit. When I came home I checked the packaging, and noticed that it had a fake barcode in the little slot at the back of the package.

It looks like someone made a photocopy of the card that was supposed to be in the package and glued it over the slot so it looks like it's the back of a card when it's really just a strip of paper, then took the card and replaced it with one that was used already. I tried logging in to vanilla prepaid's site, but of course the number of my card is invalid, so I can't. I have been on the phone with this company for over 10 days now trying to get this card verified. Bought at Dollar General. Wonder if their company knows they are selling a fraudulent card. It is designed to steal your information and probably sell it to someone else. Now I have sent in personal information such as social security number and date of birth and probably compromised my own daughters security. This is an awful feeling that no one should experience.

The first time I called I asked to talk to a supervisor. They said they do not have a supervisor. How funny that on my fifth phone call now they call in a Supervisor when I tell them I am going to file a complaint. Then when they assure me the process is about to be completed, they disconnect me. I then proceeded to call the company back. They once again verified my information and then told me that their systems were currently down. When I asked them again for their company information including company name and address to file a complaint there was a long pause.

I wish I would have recorded these phone calls. I asked the woman again for her company name and address and she replied she did not have that information because there was a system malfunction. I asked her how could she not know her company name and address when she works there. I was once again disconnected. What is wrong with our system when reputable stores are allowed to continue to sell products designed to steal personal information and money. Still no funds to card. Proceeding to the store and then local law enforcement. Perhaps we can at least get them off the shelves in our hometown.

Well it took me about 12 weeks to receive my $50 replacement Vanilla Visa card. This entailed calling customer service repeatedly to check status of my assigned case. After speaking with customer service a few times within the first weeks, they FINALLY said that a electronic journal entry of visa card purchase was necessary to complete the lost card case investigation.

However, my case investigation went nowhere in the next two months due to the INCOMPETENCY of customer service. It took several calls to finally get what information and documents were required by back office to perform their investigation. I also had to re-send all documents associated with my case three times since the email that I was given by customer service was incorrect. During this time frame they even closed my case and had to re-open it when I questioned the processing delay by the back office. This whole experience with Vanilla Visa was both frustrating and time consuming. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER VANILLA GIFT CARD AGAIN. If you already have their card, make sure to take a picture of both sides just in case you need a replacement.

I was asked to email them pictures of the card and the receipt, so I did and I was also told that their team will contact me the next day (Sunday).

It's already Tuesday and I haven't gotten any response on my email nor any calls from them. This is a frustrating experience because I bought that $100 (worth my 1 day of hard work) for a purpose and I can't even use it. Vanilla isn't even showing no interest of helping me. I called again and spoke to a foreign representative who was very difficult to understand, who told me the $25 had been used that day at PayPal. I told her I did not use the card at PayPal. She said that she could "open a dispute", but I'd have to give her my name, phone number, and email address. I asked if I could speak to a representative in the USA, she said that wasn't an option. Short version - don't expect to get your money back. Vanilla DOES NOT CARE. I was given a $100 Visa gift card issued by Vanilla in March 2019. I put the card in a drawer and forgot about it. On 9th October 2019, I found the card in the drawer, still unopened and with all the packaging sealed. I opened the card and went online to the Vanilla website at VanillaGift.com to enter all the required information only to find that the card had been used in its entirety on Amazon.com on April 1st 2019. I immediately called Vanilla to file a dispute with them, pointing out that the packaging was 100% unopened until October 9th when it was unsealed by me. Vanilla sent me a dispute package which I completed and returned to them on October 20th.

I received a letter back from Vanilla dated November 7th telling me that 'the payments network allows recovery efforts to be submitted within 60 days of the date the transaction cleared the account. Your claim is outside this timeframe. Unfortunately we have no right of recovery. At this time, this dispute has been closed.' Red flag to a bull. How on EARTH could I report a fraudulent transaction if the card hadn't been opened until 6 months after the fraud took place. I have a reasonable expectation of care and security which is clearly not being met by Vanilla.

I called into Vanilla and finally got through their phone tree by repeatedly pressing #. The first representative was very difficult to understand but he eventually agreed to reopen the case. I asked to talk with someone in the 'back office' he kept referring to. Following a LONG hold, 'Haney' came on the line and we were instantly back to square one. I went through the entire story with her (again) only to be told that I should have raised the claim within 60 days of the fraudulent charge. Then she told me that the charge was valid - they could see no fraud with it. Bang head on wall. I was put on hold again without warning and was left there for over 30 minutes until I hung up.

I called in again. This time the person who answered, 'Rhinz', said that the case had been reopened and sent to their fraud department. They have 45 days to respond. I have no doubt that they too will find that the charge was 'valid.' Interestingly, looking through their terms and conditions insert, under 'Your liability for Unauthorized Transfers' it reads '....your liability for unauthorized Visa debit transactions on the gift card account is $0.00 if you are not grossly negligent or fraudulent in the handling of the gift card.' Let's see if that has any standing. I think I know the answer.

Looking through the internet, there are postings going back years on multiple websites complaining of EXACTLY the same experience (unopened and unused cards depleted before they have even been unsealed by the legitimate customer) followed by the EXACT same useless response by Vanilla. It is my estimation that they have a security hole in their system that they can't find or don't care enough to fix. After all, Vanilla has the money already so why spend anything fixing their compromised system?

Finally, it appears that Vanilla is just a brand name of Incomm (Interactive Communications) who are based in Georgia. Incomm's name was on the dispute closure letter I received. Since I can't get any sense out of Vanilla, my next step may be to call Incomm direct on (770) 240-6100 and talk directly with Scott Meyerhoff who is listed as their COO. It's only $100 but I'm mad about this and I don't give up easily. It's probably for nothing but I'll chase it down.

Tried to use it for online shopping, but the site refused it because it wasn't registered yet. Okay fine, went to register it, but when I enter my details, it only comes up with US states for addresses. I realize there is a tiny little "English" in the top corner, and when I click I see it has an option for Canada English under it. Went through the process again and got system error, cannot process at the end.

Called help desk and that's where the real fun starts. First I was told that I can't use Chrome, the most-used browser. I have to use Firefox or IE. Seriously? I've not heard that for years. She informed me that she couldn't run the registration for me, and also told me that there was a balance of $35 on the card... I had loaded it with $100. Apparently, the declined sale was being charged against me, and I would have to wait close to two weeks for them to reverse it... It just went downhill from there. I am now out that cash until they get around to reversing it, which means I can't use the card as intended until then, while they sit on my money. I've bought lots of stuff on eBay & have not had any problems. Some negative aspects are, when paying at the pump for gas most retailers put a $100 hold on the card which takes several days to be lifted (aaarrrgggghhh!!), refunds take several days & I end up with a collection of cards with a balance of pennies.

The cards with a small balance can be used most places (Home Depot & Ingles is where I use them most often) but you can't break up a purchase over multiple cards on ebay. I'm very surprised by the 100% 1 Star rating of all the reviews here. It could be that when things work as they should no one takes the time to tell everyone that things worked as they should. Unfortunately, I failed to record the card numbers before I mailed the cards. On 10 July, I contacted Vanilla Visa Card Customer Service and filed a lost card report by faxing a copy of the receipt for the card and a utility bill (to prove who I am). On 5 August, I received a replacement card, but was dismayed that it had a balance of $50, not $100.

On 6 August, I contacted Customer Service again and was told to refile a lost card report with a new case number. Between then and today (10/14/19), I contacted Customer Service 6 times, with various vague responses that they hadn't received the second submittal, to the back office was working it and hadn't updated my information. Today, I was told that they had determined that the lost card had zero balance. Therefore, they couldn't refund anything to me.

I asked for more clarification, which I didn't received. I asked if they had provided me with a refund of $50 on my first request because the lost card still had value, but the balance on that card was used up after they sent me the refund. The Customer Service Agent agreed. I find this unlikely because if someone had stolen the card, they would use it immediately. My conclusion is that Vanilla Visa Gift Card has just gouged me for $50. I absolutely would not recommend anyone purchasing one of their cards. They don't stand behind their product.

The rep tells me that they charged fees going back to April when the card was first purchased. It didn't matter that I had just activated the card the day before. So out of $40 I got $18 of my gift and when I say they have trained these people not to tell you no different I mean that. This company is getting rich off of consumers by just taking money. I got an email confirmation saying they had received my document and it would take 3 to 5 business days. So I call back 5 days later and now they’re telling me I have to wait until Monday. They claim I put a wrong digit on my registration but I know I did not. I know my social by memory and was very careful.

Every time I call I have to repeat my story and all these questions and they just give me the run around. Sometimes they put me on hold and just hang up. Don’t waste your time and money with this company. They’re just robbing people. Can’t even understand their English. So I know this card is not from the USA. They got my address, my full name, my phone number, and my email address and said they will close the account and will send me the refund for the full amount of $34. After a couple of weeks waiting, when I did not receive the check, I called them and another employee said the refund check has been issued ant it should be on the way and I will receive it by the latest on Sep 5th. Then she hung up on me. After few minutes I called back and another rep named Nora, said the check has been issued on Aug 21st and after confirmed my mailing address she said they will reissue another check once they confirm that has not been cashed, when I asked what is the reason for not receiving the check after this long, she put me on hold for another 3o minutes to talk to her Supervisor...then she came back with a totally different story saying, since I have not used my card (even though it has NEVER been activated), I have lost all my money as dormant FEE of $3.95 per month!!!

I recently (4 days ago) purchased a One Vanilla Prepaid Card from Walmart and used it for the first time yesterday. My first use of the card was a little Shell gas station where I swipe the card at the pump and selected debit and the card was declined. I figure it must only work under the credit option and continued to use it as a credit card. The pump authorized the purchase and allowed me to pump $6 before stopping. I was confused because why would it stop at $6 when I knew I had roughly $260 on the card?

After a few attempts at trying the card over I decided to call and check the remaining balance. I was almost stunned when I heard the remaining balance was $0.00, and in desperation started to call One Vanilla using the number of off the back of the prepaid card. I was informed of two transactions- the one I made for $6 and another for the amount of $251 which I didn't make or authorize.

To cut the story short, as of now I've been told they will email me the dispute paperwork and that the process is 90 days... I've read this over and over again that this was the case for others with similar stories with the same card. It seems to me that this issue is larger than expected and should be considered a threat to the American consumers who utilize or purchase gift cards and dealt with immediately and those who suffer from it should be compensated immediately for their loss and hardships they may have faced.

I've had a Vanilla prepaid card/account for 2+ yrs, w/ payroll direct deposit and auto billing for several accounts. Twice my security has been compromised and had 1200$ and $1100 stolen from me. No sympathy from customer service, told 45-90 days for the dispute process and $16 for a new card. Then had the audacity to ask me if I wanted the dispute form sent in the mail or email? I want it done now, over the phone but that's not possible because they are too greedy to hire tech support to make this capable.

First time this happened I suspected a card skimmer at an atm. Because minutes after my account was drained and I received insufficient fund alerts before I even finished pumping gas. I understand this was my risk using the card. But this time I didn't use an atm, I hadn't made any transactions for a few days and had just gotten paid. I was in the middle of a 13 hour kitchen shift and had my debit card on my person, I never lost it, I had just had a biweekly check deposited, when text alerts repeatedly went off due to insufficient funds. I quickly looked online at transactions and seen 7 charges from dif companies in Mexico, and they were still trying to complete more transactions. I called customer service and was told until they were no longer pending I couldn't even dispute them. They couldn't stop them before, which shows little accounting knowledge.

I was then unable to access my account after I told them to deactivate my card. I had to call back every day to figure out if charges were finalized. And even more brutal, I had to pay 16 dollars to get a new card expedited to me which I couldn't afford because it all had been stolen, on top of having to wait 45-90 days for disputes to be settled. It had been about 5 months since I've had this new debit card from the last time my info and money was stolen. I believe the algorithm and data for vanilla prepaid has been compromised and I will withdraw all my cash assuming they are able to verify the dispute and close my account forever.

I do not recommend anyone to open an account, I suffered .95 transaction fees for every purchase, credit, debit, online, I never checked my balance because that was more. I would never purchase a gift card either, all these new cards are compromised, and have a computer constantly running the numbers waiting for them to be activated and depleted. I don't understand how a company can have such unpleasant and un-empathetic employees unless they deal with these thefts a majority of their shift and know how bad it is, that they obviously are just reading from a script and offering no actual help.

I am a single mother and need groceries and have bills on auto pay and haven't been late to pay ever. Now I am going to have services shut off possibly and end up incurring late charges and fees for the bills I cannot pay. I broke down in tears and this person didn't break script once, inhuman and greedy is what this company is. I've reached out to a church for groceries for now, but I don't have family support or anyone to help. I trusted this company twice and will be spreading the word as much as I cannot to trust this company, who can't even tell me what these charges are for.

Nobody speaks understandable English, which is saying a lot for me, because I am very good at understanding non-native speakers, being a linguist. When I called to get information about a purchase that was not made by me, so the money stolen could be refunded, the CSR ("Gerald") was very rude, first refusing to give me any information, and then not allowing me to speak. At this point, I asked to speak to a manager. He was very rude about my request, and abruptly put me on hold, without a word.

When I was connected to an account representative supervisor, I was informed that they were unable to give me ANY details about the fraudulent transaction, when I had just gotten very detailed information about another fraudulent transaction only 20 minutes prior, from another CSR. I said this to the supervisor, explaining that I got very detailed information about another fraudulent transaction only 20 minutes prior to speaking with her. She THEN put me on hold and gave me a transaction ID & address.

These people don't give a damn about their customers, or helping them. They tried to tell me they couldn't give me information, simply because they're lazy & don't want to take the 3 minutes out of their day to provide the customer with actual service. I suggest that if you have same experience I did you should contact the Georgia Dept of Law- Consumer protection, if after going through the dispute process you do not receive satisfaction.

Updated on 09/04/2019: I previously wrote a review about issues I had with the Vanilla Gift being used by someone else after I activated the card. The Vanilla Company did send me a replacement card but due to miscommunication I could not use it. When I contacted the company rep about the issues with the replacement card they agreed because of all the issues I had to send me a check. I am waiting for that check and will send an update when I receive it.

Original Review: I recently retired and was given a Vanilla, Visa Gift Card. I was not able to use it because apparently it was breached after I registered it. Below is a summary of what occurred. At 9:43 on 7/20/19 I registered the card with Vanilla. At approximately 3 p.m. we went to purchase an item and was told the card WAS USED and we had a balance of 2 cents. At 3:16 p.m. I called Vanilla the company that was responsible for the funds. The Vanilla rep told me that an item was ordered online from Shoe Palace and it is being sent to China by a freight company. I was also told the same purchaser used several different gift cards and those purchases are being sent to China. I asked the rep to contact Shoe Palace and stop the order. The Vanilla Rep told me all they could not do this I had to file a dispute.

Don't buy - lost $500. Bought this loadable Vanilla Gift card at Sobeys on Wed. Now, Thursday, the card number is invalid and unable to register it online and can't buy anything with it. Called Vanilla Gift and Visa center, both stating the # on the front of the card is invalid. Isn't that funny since I paid for it on Wed, no problem, but no one will acknowledge that it is their card. Frustrating. I have been moved to Visa Centre and then, Citizens Bank of Canada, with no luck. Do not ever buy!!!!

I purchased a $450 gift card from this company on 8/19/19. Before I had a chance to use it the card had been hacked and purchases made online for $250 to Home Depot e-cards and $200 to Broken Arrow. When I called to dispute the charges I was told that I had to wait for them to clear. I called back today because one had and was told a form would be emailed to me. I was also told that the dispute process would take 90 days. I have still not received the dispute form. I was also hung up on twice before someone took my dispute information. I decided to look online to see if others had had issues and found this page full of similar stories. I am filing a chargeback through my bank now.

We've had two cards, given as gifts, hacked. One was hacked even before I logged in to activate it. I would never buy one of these cards for anyone. It's grossly ridiculous they can't better safeguard their product...obviously they just don't care.

Was given a gift card. Called customer service to report a fraudulent charge made less than 48 hours ago. They offered zero help. I can file a report if I have the receipt of purchase obtained by asking the person who gave me the gift if they saved it. Yeah, right. Skip the gift cards, give cash. It's safer.

For the past 2 or so years, I did use Vanilla prepaid gift cards frequently for online purchases; but... May 28, merchant emailed in reference to a problem with the card. I viewed Vanilla's 'check balance' online & is was processed. June 6, no longer able to access 'check balance' online. I used automaton to determine the merchant was not able to process the order & upon emailing the merchant, they cancelled on June 1. This is not reflected on automation.

June 12, I purchased online with another merchant. The following day, no access to 'check balance' online; but, automation specifies my account has .25 cents. What!!!! Hay yeah I called. You would not believe I encountered a great InComm CSR (double 5 stars), who informed me what occurred. June 12 at about 11:32 P.M. a transaction occurred with a particular merchant I never heard of before. I contacted the merchant to inform them of the fraudulent transaction, etc. Afterward, I had to call UPS. What was left for InComm to review & investigate. In 30 days, I should have received $107.51 replacement gift card. Instead, they are giving another Vanilla gift card consumer the shaft.

Incomm, is aware there is a problem with their 'check balance' online & have done nothing to address this issue. No doubt, it probably has been hacked or they hired a thief. Even though BBB, is not a government agency. I will concur with Bobby of Atlanta, GA. Also, writing to Bancorp Bank would not hurt either. InComm Vanilla Gift rate: 0

My daughter had one of these gift cards purchased for her as a high school graduation gift that was worth 50 dollars. The card was not activated when it was purchased and I was unable to use it. When I called customer service and asked them to activate it, I was informed they would not be able to and they would not even be able to research what happened without a receipt. I explained that it was a gift and I did not have the receipt nor did I even know who gave her the card. They did not care. I spoke with a Camille, then her boss, Maria, then her boss Ben. I am very upset that someone has spent their money on this gift card and now my daughter is unable to use it. I recommend to never buy one of these gift cards. They are absolutely worthless. Their customer service is even worse and a joke.

Fraudulent charges totalling $218 placed on my Vanilla Gift card in one day all while the card is in my possession so either Vanilla was hacked or this is an inside job. Either case, the best I get from them is an answer in 90 days (3 months) from today. Never purchase a Vanilla gift card if you want to protect your money.

Will never purchase a Vanilla prepaid card again. So many stores and websites that you cannot order from. Employees are just like "Oh, well! We can file a claim but that could take 10+ days and then you don't even get the activation amount. I wasn't even going to rate this experience but I just now tried to use it again on Amazon and it won't accept it, it didn't work on Chewy.com, PetSmart online and in store. So sad that my funds are locked up. This should actually be a Zero rating. 0000000.

This is the WORST company ever!! I purchase the prepaid card at CVS and loaded the money on it so I could make my car payment only to try and register it and be told I need to call customer service. They then told me I needed to send in proof of identity, purchase and address. I did all this on July 31st now August 6th and they finally said it is active after several calls. Once I got off the phone I tried using it and it was in fact not active so I had to call back again to have it activated again cause the first rep did not complete the steps. Once I was done with that I tried again only to be told I can not use this card for what I needed. The reps where very rude and all they could say was I am sorry ma'am. So now I have the money to make the payment but still can not do it. This is the worst card company ever!!!!

I received a MyVanilla card as a gift. The packaging indicates that the card does not expire until 09/22 and it tells you that there is no monthly fees. It does not tell you on the outside that they will charge you $3.95 per month for no activity. Furthermore, the customer service representatives are rude, and their management simply hangs up to avoid dealing with you. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
