I received a Vanilla Visa Gift Card as a wedding gift. I logged on to their web page Monday 8-15-2017 to see what the gift amount was. On 8-15 I had $100.00 on the card. By Tuesday the balance was gone. A company named Meezeee & G Inc had charged $100.00 to my card. I called the company to file a dispute and the woman on the phone tells me she can't help me and I am out the money. Her suggestion is that I Google the company and have them refund the money.

So I Google and guess what? The company doesn't exist. No company registration. No phone number. No address. Nothing. The only place that my card info was ever entered into was the website listed on the card to check balances. Now the person that gifted me the card is out her money, I am out my gift and someone with a bogus company has my $100.00, Not happy and will never use this company again. I have filed a written dispute but I am not very hopeful. My next step will be the State Attorney General.

Somehow this company is still around and ripping customers off left and right. Card is literally the most frustrating thing I've encountered in years and I'm a well educated woman. I called customer service where I was told they need me to send them utility bill copies, DL and receipts. No. It's going in the trash. $20 isn't worth it, I will replace my children's money myself. Shame on you, Visa. Get your system straightened out!

I'm in a cash crunch for a few weeks so I put some money on a Vanilla Card in case a charge hit my account. Several hundred dollars. Immediately there was a problem registering the card. It didn't believe I was me. So I had to call. I called several times and waited on hold. The lady asked stupid questions. Then after a while she said it was ready. I think by ready she meant I should go ** myself. Didn't work. Tried ATM nope. I deemed the Card a colossal waste and will wait for the balance to escheat. Everyone is good at something and Vanilla does have a particular use so it's not a total waste. Which it is.

I purchased 2 Vanilla Visa gift cards as a gift on May 3, 2017; one for $500, one for $100. They were mailed to Ohio (from Las Vegas) in one envelope but stolen before being delivered to addressee. $100 gift card was never used and that amount was refunded. However, the $500 gift card was activated by Vanilla Visa when 'the thief' called in. Despite having a phone number associated with the call to activate the $500.00 gift card and despite having information on all vendors where the $500.00 card was used (5/6-5/14), Vanilla Visa refused to investigate the matter or help me track 'the thief' down.

Most importantly, I had been told ON A RECORDED LINE by Vanilla Visa that if I did not use the cards the money would be REFUNDED to me. I still have not received the $500.00 refund that Vanilla Visa promised my on their recorded line, approximately May 15th. Several phone calls later, agent Carey **, said he'd TRY to find the taped conversation but didn't think he could do anything about my loss. Vanilla Visa should be held accountable for their customers' investments if they activate cards that have been stolen. This business should be shut down immediately for theft.

On 8-3-17 I received a $100 prepaid Vanilla gift card from my co-workers as I was moving, it was a gift. On 8-4-17 I spent $27.27 without issue, on 8-5-17 I tried to use it once again and the card was denied due to insufficient funds, I tried once more and still it was declined. I looked up my account online and it did state I had indeed made a purchase of $27.27 but then there was a charge for the full $100 from LX processing who works with the Vanilla One Card company. I have read many reviews from people who have not been refunded their money at all or people who were not refunded all of their money. Since they took the whole $100 from me I am now a negative $27.27 on a prepaid card which is ludicrous!!

I have contacted the Consumers Affairs and BBB, I want a check for the full $100 refunded to me via a check ASAP. If it's a fight they want, it's one they will get. When I am done with them they will be everything BUT a good idea. Beware and tell all of your friends and family NOT to purchase this card! Prepaid is Prepaid. You should be able to take it out of the package and use it.

After calling 3 times they are still processing it and to call back 24-48 hours. It may be a hundred and something dollars but it's my money and I need it all back. How do have these cards at stores and they're not legit? To me you're a big scam.

After purchasing card I went online to check the balance, but after I entered required info and hit enter the entered info would disappear. I then went online to and made a purchase from Pep Boys in the amount of $23.81. When I went to pick up the item the next morning 7/28/17 I was told the card was declined. I then went to Rite Aid where I purchased the card, and the clerk who helped me called OneVanilla and was told that the card was activated but there was no available balance. I then called OneVanilla customer assistance and was told about the above transaction per LX Processing. I had no idea who or what LX Processing was, and I did not authorize this transaction. However when I went on the internet to research LX Processing it inferred that LX Processing is connected with OneVanilla.

I was told that the card was saying that it wasn't activated and in order for them to fix the issue they needed some paperwork from me. I emailed a copy of my receipt and the card and they told me the problem would be fixed within 3 days. The fund's on the card the very next day. Following these people making contact with her via email they stated that they would send her a link from Amazon to make the payment which she said seemed legitimate. Then they would ship the car to her. She then made the payment and contacted me following that payment for reasons she suspected fraud because the merchant contacted her a second time to ask her to pay another fee having to do with some sort of insurance for the car to be shipped. This amount was equal or greater than the amount of the car. I immediately called this card company to try to make a stop payment. The same hour in fact.

The operator kept saying "I offered the card as a gift" as if the key word here was (Gift). Prior to making my claim of stop payment to a fraudulent company that claiming to be a reputable company of Amazon. The operator stated that the funds would take a week for the company to obtain it. She also said to me that she did not have the power to stop the payment even if I were the card holder. What??? It's sitting there for a whole week like a sitting duck??? (But would have to make a complaints after the so called merchant receive their payment.) Well! I went through their process, of submitting my documents of proof to the claim dept. I waited the 60 days like they said I would have to; In fact it has been 5 months and I haven't heard a thing from them but that they have received my complaint... I AM PISSED.

So I just reloaded a One Vanilla card (Never had any issues in the past) but then suddenly when I get home from reloading the One Vanilla card with $100, (already have $39 on it), I gave it to my son that isn't yet 18. Well what happened from there is he realized it wasn't working so he took it upon himself to call customer service, which is usually alright. Well not really for this scam of a company. They instantly locked the account after the first call because he said that he was my son. So he went and told me what happened so I decided to contact One Vanilla myself. What do they do? They ask me to send a copy of me SSN, Proof of Address, and my Driver's License. The banks don't even ask for a copy of a Signed SSN. So after it all came through One Vanilla got left with $139 and I walk away empty handed. This company really should be put under investigation.

I was informed by Visa/Vanilla, after pressing 0, 0 repeatedly on the phone that I can't use the remaining $76.00 for 8 days. After numerous attempts, I finally got through to someone at the company who said the card "had never been activated at the store at the time it was purchased." I see this is a similar story by others. I was also told to produce a receipt from the store so they could "figure out what went wrong." As I was reading through the reviews I came across something interesting. InComm (incom) took someone else's money. That is who took the money off of my card as soon as I checked the balance. The company seems to be ripping off their own customers. I was told by Vanilla customer service that the money may go back on my account in 7 days. If not I will have to go through a long dispute process. Which they won't satisfy especially if they themselves are ripping off their own customers. Being told basically, "Too bad there is nothing you can do because you have no protection because it is a prepaid card and not a real debit or credit card".

At least my rip off was only 30.00 not large amounts like the other people who wrote reviews. I will also message President Trump with my concerns of this company. He is on Facebook messenger. If anyone else should feel the need to address this with him. Sometimes in life you have to go all the way to the top to get issues resolved.

First of all I am so infuriated with what happened to me today that it motivated me to jump on this website and sign up just to leave a review and hope that NOBODY ever makes this mistake. Let me first also say that part of this is my fault by not reading all the details in this scam to begin with but who would of think this would be such a pain. Here is my situation, father of 4 living in a home in southern California with my wife. Sole income of this home is me, I make about 26,000 a year. Not a lot and since my wife stopped working last year because of our recent baby I have been picking up the slack. Needless to say we have been behind on our bills. About 2 thousand dollars worth. Banks already wanting to repossess our vehicles. A God sent miracle comes from heaven and we come across some cash just enough to pay off our debts and keep our home.

Because of unforeseen circumstances my bank accounts are -$600 but I need to pay off these car loans before we have 0 transportation with 4 kids. That's a nightmare just thinking about it. I have the nifty Idea of putting the cash in to 5 different One Vanilla cards and using the cards to pay off my debt, well here is where I made the huge mistake. One Vanilla cards can't be used to make payments through money order or directly to the bank, not only that I cannot take the money out through an ATM. This is what I call a scam because the card CLEARLY says it's a DEBIT card and has the MASTERCARD logo on it! Everyone assumes that if the card says VISA or MASTERCARD on it and it's a DEBIT it's accepted everywhere!

Man what a HASSLE! Now I'm STUCK and I can't pay any of my bills with 2 thousand dollars on my cards that just turned into basically store credit. And seriously what is the deal with not being able to get a refund on these?? What kind of crap is that? Calling One Vanilla they say there nothing they can do and they could send me a check with the full amount in 2-4 weeks. What good does that do me if I have the banks hounding me and my family for me to pay them. I have a separate complaint on the banks not taking my prepaid cards, what the point of this whole prepaid card system if you cant use it!? That's a bunch of trash. Don't buy these cards. Don't fall into the trap of these card issuers and their fees to make a quick buck out of people who don't know all the details. SAVE YOURSELF FROM THE HEADACHE AND ASK YOUR LENDERS HOW THEY WOULD LIKE TO GET PAID AND AVOID THIS CARD AT ALL COST!

I have received few of these cards for a gift and have also purchased 4 of them (each one worth 200$, therefore 800$ wasted!!) When people I gave these cards as gifts tried to use them, they were all declined. When they went through the activation process, it seemed as everything went well but unfortunately they were unable to use them. The cards I received were also not used for the same reasons mentioned above. When I called the company and provided them with all the information they requested in order to "resolve" the issue: receipts, place where the cards were purchased, activation codes as well card numbers and expiration dates, they said it would take up to ten business days to fix the "errors that occurred during activation".

Anyhow, it has been over four months now and numerous phone calls and wasted time with the company's reps, and they have not done anything about it. The one thing they have done is kept all the money, which totals over 1200$. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE USE OF VANILLA PREPAID CREDIT CARDS AS THEY ARE AN OFFICIAL FRAUD COMPANY!!! As for those who already went through bad experience and wasted their money, I would suggest they take action and start a lawsuit against them. I am sure we can gather the info from many that were scammed and proceed with the lawsuit. I Would also recommend to all merchandisers to refuse the use of these cards as well as not to accept the sale of these cards so that way they can prevent these issues from happening in the future.

Found out after many tries that you cannot use a Vanilla Prepaid MasterCard toward a purchase. Have to pay the difference first and then have merchant enter the exact amount remaining on your card. I'm sure other gift cards are the same, but this is the first I've had one in many years. Did not think I should need an owner's manual to use it. :)

But getting this out of the phone support person was extremely difficult. Especially as she would not let me talk. She appeared to like hearing her own voice. She said a transaction last month actually went thru at Burger King and I knew for sure it did not. She said I actually had no balance left and that the balance of $8.10 was actually the purchase amount at Burger King. After talking to a supervisor she said the $8.10 would be available after the weekend. Not sure what changed. Still being confused I asked her if the card being a card from Canada and used in the US (I'm in the US) could be part of the problem. She said, "oh yeah, I did not think of that". So, now we started to get to the root of the problem, with no help from phone support.

But then I got to thinking, the next time I try to use the card I will have to convert the amount of $8.10 to US$, and the conversion rate changes often. Next subtract that resulting converted amount from my purchase. Then pay the merchant the difference. Lastly have the merchant charge the remaining amount to the gift card. When I explained this to phone support she said it was not true. Then later she said I did not tell her I was trying to use in the US. Which doesn't make sense because this was part of the discussion two paragraphs back. Needless to say I tossed the card as the frustration was getting to be too much. Don't like the fact that Vanilla has $8.10 that they so don't deserve, but oh well. I need to move on before I have a heart attack over $8.10, or $5.93 US dollars as of 4/30/2017. :)

A Clear Warning should be presented when using a gift card if you do plan to pay the online bill for the turbo tax. Avoid using the OneVanilla Prepaid MasterCard and the OneVanilla Prepaid Visa Card When making a purchase because neither of them allow you to register your name and address directly on to the prepaid card so you can't use it to purchase turbo tax online directly. You need to purchase instead a MyVanilla prepaid card in order to be able to register an address to that card and in order to be able to pay the bill for your taxes online. You also can't load your previous prepaid cards into another brand new card to empty the card that way. I tried that it and it didn't work. It looked like was going to but didn't. The cashier wanted me to prepay directly with cash for that exact same amount instead.

One of the biggest problems is getting your money back successfully. The solution to that problem is to open up a donation site (for example: gofundme) or create a fake online shop with amazon or ebay that you can "purchase" an item for that exact same price and recycle the money back into you or your friends bank account. That's the fastest way possible.

I can definitely relate to other's bad experience with prepaid VISA card. I had the same problem. I was told the $200 fund was never loaded and to go back to the store to complaint. Guess what, the store said it was loaded, even the company overseeing this type of transaction for the store confirmed the same. I was told my next step would be to call VISA. I spent hours explaining the situation to a dozen of people at the call center. The phone reps were professional, helpful, nice & appeared to go out of their way to help but no one was able to help resolve the issue, including the manager. I'm still in the process of getting this issue resolve & crossing my fingers that I'll get to use whatever left of the balance since there's also a $2 monthly fee of inactivity. My advice to the consumer: never ever buy a prepaid VISA card. It's a scam!

I purchased two Visa Vanilla gift cards for Christmas. One was for $100 and the other for $25. When the recipients of the cards tried to use them, they were declined and were expired. The expiration date on each card was 06/25. I do not understand how they could be expired. I contacted the number on the card and began an endless process of being transferred from one person who spoke bad English to another, and round and round I went. No one could help me. I finally spoke with a lady who was a "rep" of the bank and she wanted a duplicate receipt. It is now March, everyone has their gift cards and I do not have the receipts.

The people apologized so many times while they did nothing to assist me that I finally told all of them to drop the worthless apologies. I was at the end of my rope and I was not nice to them. I guess not I am out $125. I am retired and on social security, but it's the principle of this. How about helping a customer? I will never buy another Visa Vanilla gift card. When I looked up the balance and found the fees, I called. I spoke to nice lady who said that the back of my card says that a fee of $2.50 would be charged as of the 7th month of receipt. This is written so small on the back of the card that no one notices it. I couldn't even read the telephone number to call them to find the balance. Luckily, I could read vanillavisa.com. I then asked to speak to a supervisor when I noticed that I was charged in the 6th month or so I thought.

The supervisor, Devin, who tried to be courteous, told me that there was nothing he could do about reversing the fee, but agreed that it looked like a mistake. "Oh well", is basically what he said. I then asked for his supervisor and was told that a manager could call me. After we went around the issue for a few minutes, he suggested that he could get a supervisor to speak to me. I spoke to James, who is also a supervisor, but was extremely helpful and explained that reason I was charged $2.50 in month 6. The reason being that 2 days into month 7 is when I was charged. He also helped the situation and found a reasonable solution that I found satisfactory. However, I would not recommend buying and/or accepting these reward cards unless you spend the money on them asap. Otherwise, they charge you monthly.

I did not want to provide my personal account information with all the scammers out there getting a hold of information too easily. I thought the Vanilla gift card would be a safer option. The merchant happily took my money from the gift card and never sent the merchandise I ordered. No reply to the several attempts I made to inquire about the item not received that I paid for so I disputed the transaction through InComm or Vanilla gift cards for Non-Receipt of merchandise.

InComm couldn't care less - they offer no consumer protection and use the VISA Logo as a way to gain your trust and purchase their card. Deceitful business practices! They simply said "go to your local police - we can't help you". Obviously, the merchant who stole my money is aware that Vanilla gift cards do not stand behind their customers and ask for them as a preferred payment method. Two con-artists working together.

Need the receipt. The receipt had a different card number on it than the card in the package had on it. So there's pretty much no way to recover the lost monies. MasterCard just gets to default and keep the $.

I recommend you gift cash over credit cards as they're unreliable and nearly impossible to reconcile. It's a giant waste of time and money. I mean an activation fee is added on when it never was activated so after $110 you get nothing in return except a headache and empty wallet plus the embarrassment of going to purchase something and being declined and then having to spend my own money on the supposed to be gift.

Absolutely unacceptable business practice. It is crooked and basically thievery and fraud on their part and they're allowed to continue, it's disgusting truly. I hope one day they are held accountable for the money they have received with no product given in return, or at least not a working product, just a useless piece of plastic. This visa gift card was activated. It is a $25 card. I went online to use the card. No matter what company that I used, the card declined. I went on Amazon and tried to use for a lesser amount/split transaction. They did a pre-authorization in June 2016. The transaction declined which now leaves a balance of 2.52. I never got to use the money on the card. I called Vanilla Visa, spoke to a rep in July. She told me they would replace the funds. I went to check the balance - Nothing has been refunded. I spoke with Crystal, she said "I'll email a dispute form" and gave me a ticket #. Haven't received it yet. Spoke to a supervisor named Jay, he said Amazon took the money. It was a pre-hold on the card. This is a SCAM company. Do not purchase these cards. They should be put out of business.

I purchased this card wasn't approved. When I proceeded to receive my money they ask for a receipt of purchase and a photo I.d. to prove I purchased this terrible product. Keep in mind that in order to register online you have to scratch off the designated number which is activated until a purchase. So the low life's try to explain to me that during the hour long process of me trying to get registered that basically I couldn't be Antonio even though I gave information that only I would know. Eventually I talk to two supervisors - first a woman who arguably the worst customer service representative I have ever experienced with. They proceed to argue with me and not try to help the situation because I was calling their product shoddy and a scam. And through this terrible two hour experience they gave me a reference number to contact them back for my refund which they both indicated to me would take four to five weeks. I waited...

Eventually I had to do what I didn't want to do and that was call those terrible customer reps back. I contact them, give them the reference number I was given and they tell me that no money has been refunded and that I need to send a photo I.d. and receipt after talking to two separate supervisors who coaxed me to believe that I was getting my refund by giving me a reference number and so forth. Really they willfully deceived me. What class! And this is all of 65 funky dollars and they have gone to unprecedented amounts to piss me off. They asked me to go back to the exact store where I purchased this and ask for the receipt and I.d. The nerve! They do this to ensure that you use their terrible scam. Worst experience ever. Wouldn't wish this on anyone. The absolute lack of accountability from Visa, Bancorp, and the worst of them all MyVanilla.

Wow! I cannot believe how terrible my experience with MyVanilla. I went to purchase $25 card at a local 7-Eleven store. I cannot activate it on-line. After a long struggle, I found out that MyVanilla has a database from over two years ago. Still... not activated. After several calls to them, I was told I would get a refund in 45 days. Four months has passed. No refund.

Called again. I managed to get a pin, but the card is still not activated. Their process to activate it is TERRIBLE. It took me 30 minutes because their fancy web page froze up a few times. Security question answers can make it freeze up. Then you have to redo it all over again. I redid it four times. Frustration level is solid 10/10. The reload pin I have from 7-Eleven is NOT 10 digits. I am totally lost. The 7-Eleven can't help. They just sell it. The MyVanilla card telephone line doesn't even have a selection to get to an human to solve this. Frustration 10/10.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CARD. You will have problem after problem. You will regret it. You will lose approx $3.95 per month just by having it. What a waste of time. MyVanilla - you get a solid ZERO stars from me. 7-ELEVEN - you get a solid ZERO stars for doing it wrong from the very beginning. It started when they sold me a $25 card when the minimum is $30. Then, everything gets mixed up. Nobody can fix it. It is stuck in world of complete stupidity. RUN AWAY FAST from using MyVanilla.

I have two $25 Vanilla Visa gift cards. When I tried to use them they were declined. When I tried to check online-I got no information. When I used the company's automated phone system I got no information. Finally I was able to talk to an agent who told me that these cards are EXPIRED. When I asked how can a card that said expires on 06/2024 be expired on 10/2016 they said that a research team would need to investigate, and in order for them to start an investigation, I had to send them a copy of drivers lic. (or other Gov. type of ID with photo), my social security number and the original receipt with the place of purchase and method of payment.

I asked to speak to a supervisor (named Laurie) who basically said the same thing "too bad, but if you do not meet the criteria to start an investigation we cannot help you." I stated that I did not have the receipt but would be ok with giving them my personal information, but she said she could not assist me, so basically what they did was brush me off. The cards themselves not only say that they expire on 06/2024 but on the back it clearly states that "CARD FUNDS NEVER EXPIRE." Nowhere on that card is there a disclaimer that states that "if you have any issue you need to furnish the company with your ID-SS number and receipt of purchase."

Most of the time when you give or receive a gift card you do not give or get photocopy of the person's ID-their SS number and the receipt. So basically this company is a scam. My question other than to vent is, to ask what if anything any of you have done. Do you just accept that this company is a fraud and toss the cards or have you pursued the issue? I think I will go to my local small claims court and file a case, even if it costs me more than the $50.00 dollars of the cards, because it may be only a small amount but if they do this to say 1000 people that cannot furnish them with all they demand is 50 thousand dollars and so on, not including people who simply give up. Suggestions are appreciated (Note: Giving them 1 star because the system will not let you not rate them).

My sister bought this card for my birthday, but I forgot about it and when I went to use it, the monthly fee of $2.50 (which starts the seventh month after purchase activation) had used up all $100 of the balance. I contacted Vanilla Visa customer service, explaining that I never even opened the envelope, and they basically said TOO BAD.

Conversely, my BF gave me an American Express gift card, and although it showed as expired on the envelope (not on the card as Vanilla Visa), when I checked the balance, it was STILL GOOD 3 years later! I will only buy American Express gift cards from now on and will be advising my many friend/family/colleagues to do the same via social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter). TOO BAD you couldn't honor the purchase value, Vanilla Visa, as you're going to lose a lot of business on the sale of these cards from now on, as I am connected to over 1000 contacts and they WILL BE SHARING your scam!

Problem #1: When trying to set it up online in her name, we were shocked to discover. She doesn't exist! Never mind that she has a driver's license, a bank account and a passport. Called customer service, and they also say they can't verify her existence. Oh, and they required her SS number. They asked me to email them a copy of her driver's license. I DON'T THINK SO!!

Problem #2: The good aunt decides to just directly deposit money into my niece's checking account here so she can use her bank debit card. So, I decided, I'll just register the card under my name to get my money off it that I put on initially when I purchased the card. I got all the way through the setup process, made a PIN number, etc. then somehow the new PIN that I JUST made wouldn't work. I had to call customer service again and start over. Trust me, the Vanilla Visa Card (I'm shocked that Visa would even allow their name to be associated with this horrible card... go figure). The funny thing about this card is that it is the preferred card for Escorts and Strippers. Again individuals, mostly female, who are having a rough go of it. The card is also heavily tied and recommended by a website called "Backpage", which caters to the Adult entertainment world... how fitting. Even though I know that the government regulates the credit card industry, it needs to clamp down on this card and others like it.

My father passed away July 2nd 2016 and I spent 10 hours yesterday going through piles, piles of receipts of cash transactions through wire transfers, moneygrams, etc. Somehow OneVanilla prepaid Visa card was used in the scam to take all his money. I see a loss of upwards of 75,000.00. It appears to be tied to a Nigerian fraudulent UBA bank. They appeared to transfer funds from stolen cards using OneVanilla card and my dad thought he was getting a percentage profit to transfer funds from this card or he was getting "paid" for transfers using this card.

After looking up reviews on UBA African Bank I was not surprised to see this was one also was fraudulent. He was involved for several years and was an intelligent man but always looking for a quick get rich scheme. To be involved for so many years he had to feel he was seeing a profit. They are very organized and very quick to move money. He was sending wire transfers all over the world from Walmart. I haven't figured it out quite yet but I know this card is involved. DO NOT buy this card and I will be at Walmart today to investigate further and will be sitting at Attorney General's Office 9 am tomorrow.

I purchased this card from Walmart for $250 on 3/29. I only made 4 transactions and on 4/4 there was an unauthorized charge for $201. When I discovered the issue I opened a claim and submitted all of the requested documentation. I was advised that they would conduct an investigation and if the charges were found to be fraudulent I would receive a refund in 90 days. In June when I contacted them to see why the funds had not been refreshed I was advised that they had to allow the vendor in question 45 days to respond and that I should see a refund on 7/1. If I do not see a refund on 7/1 we are definitely going to have a HUGE PROBLEM. After seeing the multiple reviews from others I'm not hopeful... Wish me luck!

Do not use this card. They will not help with any scam activity. Some scams are very intricate and require help. You better stick with your bank and major cards for purchases. The protection they provide is not there with OneVanilla. It is basically cash. There is no advantage to the consumer in using this card. The "seller" has all the advantages. Please avoid.

About 6 weeks ago, I purchased a $500 Vanilla Visa card from Rite Aid Pharmacy in Los Angeles and can NOT get it activated. All the other cards I purchased from Rite Aid were instantly usable to make online purchases, right away. This is the first Vanilla Visa I have bought. I have spent more than 20 hours complying with the various remedies their reps tell me to follow, to get my money back. Each customer service rep or supervisor I speak with has a different procedure that have included far too many emails and phone calls. Vanilla Visa's phone reps will not give me the name of the city where their corporate office is located. They will not give me the name or phone number of any of their executives.

I have found that, Vanilla Visa is a division of Interactive Communications in Atlanta, Georgia. Interactive's phone number is 1 800 352 3084. I was told that the president of the company is a Mr. Brooks Smith but I could not get connected to him, or to his assistant. There seems to be a corporate policy in place to mislead, delay, surcharge, or just not activate their cards. I am going to call the district attorney in Los Angeles and in Sacramento. Vanilla Visa should not be able to do business in the State of California.

I bought my Vanilla gift card back in May. Had fraudulent activity happen on the card. I contacted OneVanilla and they told me I would need to contact PayPal. Well PayPal disputed the 50.00 and on the 27th of May my funds became available, and when I called I wanted to make sure I could use the card. I gave OneVanilla a different name, because I don't typically like to use my real name. They deactivated my card on the 28th of May and on the 29th my card was declining for a 3.00 charge. I then attempted to use it again on the 30th of may and it had declined again.

The 1st of June I called again, in which I spoke with 7 people. 6 of the 7 were not able to give me any information because I called in using a different name on the 27th of May. The customer service supervisor told me I would have to go back to 7/11 to get a receipt verifying I purchased the card and I would need to mail it in. I finally spoke with someone in the fraud department, who seems like she hates her job anyways. She had to go back and listen to the calls and stated she felt comfortable with sending me a new card without having me go get another receipt, because I have been calling in on the same number every time.

I called yesterday June 14th, which made 9 business days since my card had been mailed out. The customer service supervisor stated the card had been mailed out and activated, and has a ZERO balance on it. I NEVER received the card in the mail nor did I ever activate the card. I asked if he could tell me what address the card was sent to and he told me he was unable to provide that type of information. He also stated I would need to call the fraud department and speak with the same person I spoke with 2 weeks ago.

I called her today and she stated the card was never mailed out, and that the card was used without having it in possession, but that I would need to speak with customer service to file a dispute, because the charges were made over the internet and not in the state in which I'm located. I call customer service and they are telling me they can't even tell me where the charges were made, until the ownership dispute is completed. This is the WORST experience I've ever experienced. I truly believe someone within the company used my money, and now I have to wait another 3 months for them to come up with a decision. If anyone is interested in coming together to file a lawsuit on this company please let me know. That's the direction I am headed.

I often shop online for purchases, however when I stumble across a better deal or another item I like better, I will cancel and make another purchase. In this particular case, I made an online purchase with a merchant who immediately initiated a cancellation for an item I no longer wished to purchase. 2 days later, I attempted to make that purchase - the item I found for a lesser amount - however, my funds were still being held. I called Vanilla and was told that it is their practice to hold for funds for 7 days. So here's the rub, I need the item for an upcoming event, but will not be able to purchase it because the funds won't be released in time. I suppose it's their way of floating or earning interest off your funds. My advice - don't use your card for charges - online or in person - unless you are absolutely certain you want the item, or have enough money on your card to use while your money is being invested by Vanilla.

I did not learn of the charges until I went online to check the actual value of the card and that's when I realize (2) charges $52.98 & $247.00 was made to this company by the name of "FM Inc. FocusMicro, Co. in WA. Of course I Google the company and found they were located in WA. I tried calling the bogus company and their lines were not in service. The company even had a list of their top executives listed from the CEO, CFO, VP, and so forth.

I had no choice but to contact Card Services and file a dispute, which I'm dealing with since March 11, 2016. I was told I needed to allow 60 days for them to conduct their investigation/research before they can render an answer. Well, I should know come Monday, June 13th what the outcome is. I just hate that I have to go through all this for my own money. Too bad you can't transfer the funds to your major credit card and use it. At least this way if you have a dispute you don't have to wait a lifetime for a response. The moral of the story here is you may want to consider investing in another type of gift card. But you will go through hell trying to settle your loss with this one. Good luck!

DO NOT purchase a Vanilla Visa Card!! They apparently have a serious fraud problem that more than likely comes from somewhere internally. It is amazing to read all the reviews and see the EXACT same thing happened with my 12 year old son's birthday gift. He received the gift card back in March. He wanted to use it the following weekend and it declined. I initially thought that maybe I had to register it or something. When I went online I was shocked to see that the card had been used on the other side of the country before he even opened the gift.

Fast forward to when I contact Vanilla Visa about it. They stated I had to fill out some forms and send them in. From there, it would take up to 60 days for a resolution. I recently contacted them for an update. The first person kept putting me on hold and had no clue what they were doing. I asked for someone else. The second person had to have been in a call center located in a foreign country. I could not understand 50% of what he was saying. The one thing I did hear clearly was that it was Visa's fault and they only work with them.

I then got a third person who was supposed to be a supervisor. They must have transferred the call back to America because I could understand her. The bad thing was she could only say things like, "I'm sorry, I understand, I don't know" blah, blah, blah... In the end I still have to wait an additional 5 weeks for a conclusion and even then I still might not be refunded. This has been a terrible experience and I will NEVER work with not only with Vanilla Visa, but Visa itself.

Caution when buying gas!!! I purchased a gift card for my daughter to use for summer travel when she was done with school. She purchased gas and when purchasing a second refill of the gas, her card was refused. I was advised later after calling Visa, that gas stations place a 75-100$ hold on the card for each transaction when you swipe at the pump. If she would have paid inside there would have been no hold and only processed the card for the total amount of the sale. The hold remains in place for 7-10 days then the card is then refunded the difference from the actual purchase.

Nowhere is the card holder advised of this and Visa refused to restore the overcharge hold back on to the card. She will now have a useless card with no availability to the balance for 7-10 days. I will never purchase another gift card from Visa because of their reluctance to restore the overcharge hold back to her card. Poor customer service and assistance!!!

I've just completed reading all of THE BAD REVIEWS ABOUT VANILLA GIFT CARDS! Thank God I did before I purchased anything. I received a linkedin message from a county commissioner that said the company "Consumer Reports" was hiring people for customer reviews and studies and I could make up to $9,000 a month. I assumed that if the email came from a Commissioner that it was LEGIT, but maybe he didn't investigate it or someone else sent the message using his profile...

I'm just glad that I never deposited the check which is $3,300. The email says I get to keep $300 and to buy 6 OneVanilla cards and add $500 to each card (but these cards can only be purchased with CASH!!!). Now who feels like carrying around even $500 to buy 1 card. That has happened to me too. I took money out of an ATM years ago and I didn't know someone was watching me and fell victim to an exchange of fake money wrapped up in paper. The guy said he wanted me to hold his money because he didn't have an account but I didn't know during the exchange that he switched my money for his "fake roll of bills."

I would have no problem purchasing the cards with bank cards, at least then I won't have a robber standing behind me in line ready to snatch my purse when I leave the store!!! I've been scammed before and fortunately not with through my bank account but by sending someone money orders that I didn't know and he sent me a check back that I was supposed to deposit into my account but I didn't. I took it to a check cashing center and they told me it was a fraud. Years later I received a check from another company that I took to the bank and they said this was also a scam too and this company used this check to steal your acct. information!

The lesson that I've learned is to always take the check to the bank and let them look at it first. Don't just deposit checks no matter how tempting or how bad you need the money!!! It's better to wait and go to the bank window to let a teller look at the check first. It's better to be safe than sorry later down the road and then you won't have to change your acct number or lose any money. UNFORTUNATELY YOU JUST WON'T GAIN ANY EITHER!! :-( :-(

So needless to say, when we got to the car, I called the toll-free number, and you guessed it, couldn't get a live person, just automated. It seems they put an additional 20% hold on the card, so in total they held $42... The recording said that the 20% "should" release within a week. What a joke. This was one of the worst experiences using a gift card... This should be against the law... the full amount should have been applied to the bill. Only ones who knew the sum on the card was Me and Vanilla. 2 days later the money was gone and the card never left my wallet (previous review has more detail). 75 days of calling them - every day another excuse, another plea for one more week. More "We don't know." Finally pushed harder and got them to say, "We will have a resolution in 3 days" so in 3 days I call back. "Please give us another week." 5 more days of calling - finally they say they have a resolution. They found in my favor that the charges were fraudulent and a new card for that sum would be sent to me. Takes 1 week to get to me. Made sure I activated it (which again they gave me heck to do) and used it as fast as possible on groceries and gas and other important stuff so they couldn't lose this money. FINALLY done with this company. Don't walk away from Vanilla. RUN FAST!!! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE company.

They sent me to so many people but I called the bank corp. who issued the card. They gave me a number 855-686-9512 I got recordings. If you push the activation number, that will get you a real person. Then I told them my wallet was stolen (which wasn't true). They cancelled the card for me and asked to send a new one out of course I said no. But this card is a big joke and it's hard not only to get your money but to actually talk to a real person. I hope this helps someone.

I went on vacation knowing I had $360.96 left on card and went to check into my room only for the card to be declined. We paid cash for room and Immediately called the number on the back of card and explained what was going to happen only to be told it may take 60 days to get my money back.

Of course by now upset, I hit the ceiling when they said that all they could do is send my a dispute package (so nice of them right). Took them FIVE days to email me the dispute form. The transaction was for $360.00 almost exactly what I had left on card, so these animals from a company called: CVCS ALRM FOCUSMICRO.CO, WA 800-693-6535 are the ones that fraudulently stole my money off my card without authorization. But what I can't see when I view my account with them is how many times this Focusmicro tried in increments actually took place against my card. I'm sure it started from $500.00 and went down from there.

Been in banking too many years to know what scammers do. So I don't need for Vanilla Visa to tell me "60 we can get your money back", when they can look at transactions I can't see, and they can look on ConsumerAffairs, Ripoff Report and various other online services to say this company is a FRAUD! You can't tell me they know nothing of a security breach of some sort associated with their card??? It's all over the internet! I'll never use them ever again, any products by Visa.

I filed a complaint with Vanilla Visa but they are at best going to resolve my situation in 60 days. Really? Worst Idea Ever!!! Pay off the start and additional 6% for activation. Then go and try and use the card... borderline useless. You can't buy anything more than the amount of the value of the card or you have to ask the cashier to do separate transactions to match the value of your card exactly (pain for everyone waiting behind you). This is done intentionally by Visa as many customers will leave a certain amount on their card and never use it. It's not enough that they take 6% off the top and then doing the stores another commission. Also put a deadline (which has been outlawed in many places as it's already been paid for). I stayed at the Radisson Hotel Phoenix on 10/20/15 and used my Vanilla Visa Prepaid Debit for a deposit on the room. The hotel placed a $50 hold on my card, and Vanilla Visa added a $10 fee/hold. After checking out, the hotel released the hold, but Vanilla didn't credit my account. I called customer service & they stated that I needed a Merchant Release Letter from the Radisson in order to get my funds returned to me. They said it needed to be on company letterhead, including check-in/check-out dates, Trans #, Trans Amount, last 4 digits of my card, Merchant ID #, and so on... I contacted the hotel, and the manager kindly sent over the standard Form via fax. Vanilla's customer support requires that you wait minimum 4 hrs after a document is sent before calling them about it. I waited the 4 hours and called, they said they never got it.

The rep told me to have the hotel email it to me, then I could forward it to their email and wait the 4 hrs again before contacting them. I did so, but they said the letter wasn't in the correct verbiage, and I would have to do this all over again. I notified the hotel manager, and he kindly retyped the letter and sent it. I waited 4 hours and called... Again, it wasn't to their liking. It was missing a checkout date. Throughout the next 4-5 days, about 7-8 revised letters were sent, each one they required something changed. At this point, I'm furious because every single letter states that the hotel WILL NOT CHARGE ANY FURTHER CHARGES ON MY CARD AND THEY MAY RELEASE THE HOLD. The hotel manager is getting irritated as well, but for some reason he just can't seem to get everything they require in one email just right.

The last one he sends is absolutely perfect to the "T" except for one small detail - he left out the $50 amount that he has put in every previous correspondence. I call Vanilla, and sure enough, they say they need another one. I email the hotel manager, and now he doesn't respond to my emails. I call Vanilla and speak to a supervisor in hopes that they can use some common sense and understand that every email has stated that I will not be charged any further, that my funds need to be released, and although this last letter doesn't have the $50 amount, the previous 7-8 letters all have that information present. Couldn't they just combine information from the last letter, and information from all the prior letters to come to conclusion that the hotel no longer wants to charge me any further and that I need to be given my money back?!? Nope - it's too much for their little brains to comprehend!

They want me to continue asking this man from the Radisson to take time out of his day to type and retype letter after letter until it's right. Unfortunately, they can't make outgoing calls and speak with him personally to sort this all out, they assume that I should have to continue to do it until it's done right! They absolutely refuse to even consider trying to send the information gathered already up to upper management for a review. I can't get ahold of the manager, he's not returning my emails, and they say I'm just out of luck until he sends in a verbatim letter. I've gotten different information from every rep and every supervisor on each and every call, and none of them has helped me solve this problem. Where does common sense come into play?! The hotel has advised them again and again that I owe them no more money, and that they will not charge me one more dime!

Why is that not sufficient in itself to release the hold?! Why do I have to take hours on end, every single day, to try and track down this manager and get him to revise email after email until it's to their liking (even though he has told me personally that the standard Merchant Release Letter he sent the first time has never failed him with any other bank, credit card company, etc.)?! It's not his responsibility to continue submitting document after document on my behalf, nor do I feel that it's my job to spend many hours a day making endless phone calls and sending countless emails to both the hotel management and Vanilla Visa in order to get my measly $50 credited back to my account. Dealing with the mentally challenged staff at Vanilla Visa has driven me to the point of insanity, and I feel like their severe retardation has even infected me to some degree.

So I now wrap my head in aluminum foil before making my daily "sorry we can't help you" calls to Vanilla. The force is strong with these idiots, I just may have to buy Magneto's helmet to prevent further brain damage when trying to comprehend their blatant stupidity and complete lack of any common sense... whatsoever. Every time I call them I feel like I can see the subhuman I'm talking to, clear as day, sitting there at their cubicle, headset on backwards, earpiece next to that giant, wide open gaping mouth... mouth breathing away, slobber spilling out everywhere, with that blank, wide-eyed gaze at their computer monitor, still trying to understand how to get passed the dreaded "login" screen. Ooommph... I just vomited a little in my mouth.

Now, you see, this is what my life has become. Trying to find some bit of laughter and happiness amongst the never-ending sea of ** that I must deal with on a daily basis. To hell with it! They can keep the damn $50!

I had purchased a My Vanilla reloadable card back in 2011. I had the option of registering with my name, address and social security, and personal information in order to upgrade to a reloadable visa logo card. Since the time I got the card, I had never had an issue with it, until 2013, when I could no longer reload it with my bank card, instead they would require cash at the retailer. I continued using the card until July of 2015 when the card then expired. I then tried reloading the card at a 7-11 store, after it was expired and couldn't, which made sense. So I called the number in back of the card in order to resolve the issue and reorder a new card. I called 855-687-9513 and spoke to a representative, that was very abrupt and sounded like she was having a bad day.

I was required to confirm my home and mailing address in order to re-order the new card. At the moment I could not remember the home address that I had registered the card under, because I had since moved about 4 times. When failing the verification asked by the representative, she then proceeded to verify my social security number. The SS was verified, but still could not send me the renewal? She then put me on hold, for 20 minutes, came back on the phone and asked that I email them my driver's license with photo for verification. I felt like this was an invasion of privacy as I had never been asked by any CC company for this type of verification. Because I hadn't had an issue with the card, for the exception of not remembering the old address the card had been registered under; I emailed my DL. By then I remembered the address the card was under and also verified it with a representative.

Then, to my surprise I waited another 2 months, called them back and asked where my renewal was, they said they couldn't send it to me because they needed a "colored" copy of my DL??? They had my phone number and could've called me? Again, I was cooperative in sending them the colored copy. Another month later, I called back to find out what the status of the renewal was. They said that they had received the colored DL and that my credentials were verified and they would expedite the card within 7-10 business days. Waited 3 weeks and no card... Called back, it never left "Georgia" where their headquarters is located. They apologized for the 5th time, each call being over an hour.

As of today 01-07-16 I am still waiting for the issuance of the new card. All this experience has transpired within a 6 month period of time. I contacted the district attorney in the state of Georgia and they advised me of not being involved with this organization as they have raised sufficient "red flags" of being a fraudulent organization. My identity is also protected by a government organization and have an attorney ready for a class action lawsuit, just in case they try any funny stuff! NEVER GET INVOLVED WITH THIS SO CALLED PREPAID "CARD" COMPANY.

My brother purchased a Vanilla Gift card on the 22nd December (could see in transactions on website) and gifted to me on Christmas. I was able to log in on the website and spoke with a rep to see if I could register more than just my zip code (can't). I worked for a company that serviced gift cards for a competitor (not AmEx) and the longer you sit on the card, it seems the more susceptible you are to fraud on the card. People would literally guess #s since the majority of the #s are the same with the exception of the ending - how they get use funds from there idk. I would say check your bal regularly, ask the purchaser of GC to attempt to get a copy of the receipt if they purch'd it recently, don't swipe the card at a gas pump (go inside), and be prepared for a 15-20 percent extra hold on your card at retailers that take tips (even fast food places will do this). If you can't cover the balance owed plus the 15-20 percent hold, you'll be declined.

I had an angry customer at a nail shop unable to pay for her services because she couldn't cover the cost of service plus hold (once again, not an AmEx card). So with that being said, don't go out equipped with a GC as your only form of payment. Happy spending (hopefully). I'll update once I use my card. Wanted to share exp as far as getting a live person on ph and the website usability.

    (5) gift cards were purchased at #Walgreens in Irvine off of Jeffery Ave and were given as gifts to family and friends. 3 out of the 5 cards purchased were mispackaged, therefore hold no value! For those of you who received the cards recently, I can only recommend that you DO NOT OPEN THE PACKAGE! Take a video camera and record the entire and uninterrupted opening of the card packaging. If the Expiration Date on the card does not match the Expiration Date on the package then that card is not activated!!!

We contacted their customer service and have been given the runaround. They are not willing to properly rectify the situation even with proof of purchase. Here's the catch 22. There's no way to tell if the card you have does not match until you open the package. Once you open the package they can now say and claim that you swapped it with a different card and deny your claim! I'm willing to bet that thousands of people just got screwed this year. I'm about ready to start thinking that there needs to be a class action lawsuit against these criminals. There's absolutely no way that we are the only ones affected by this production malfunction.

We immediately called when cards were not received and emailed in the receipt and photo copies of the rear of the card with numbers. We were told at the time the cards had not been used and they would be cancelled and we could get new cards reissued. When my husband did a follow up the next day the gentleman told him he should not have been told that, the cards had been used.

My husband had to be very assertive to find out when and where the cards were spent. Vanilla does not keep track of the time or the store's transaction numbers (we had a card previously stolen from another bank and they were able to give all this information to us to pass along to police to catch the culprit). So at the end of the day Vanilla did nothing to help us & police track the thief. Save the activation fee and send cash if it disappears there is no difference!!! Then they said the only other thing I could do is use the card as a gift card at places like Walmart but no online use at all. So I basically paid $4 to get the $50 card and now I will incur a 50 cent charge per use to use the card at Walmart. Basically I just gave away about $5 so I could go back and spend $45 at Walmart. So then I was forced to use cash to pay for the transaction. After leaving the post office, I call Vanilla to see what happened and they say they actually did send $111 to the authorized retailer. But there is no receipt or confirmation on my end that I ever used the card. Now because they approved the sale to send the money, but did not complete the transaction, I'm out that money until they send me a dispute form to fill out and mail back in. Once they receive it, it could take up to 60 days. that's right -- 60 days -- to get the money back.

So within 30 mins of paying Vanilla $200, I'm now out $111 with no guarantee of when I can have my money back. They tell you they have your back and are doing everything they can to get the money back. Seems a little odd that it's going to take 60 days to get money back that should have never been sent or fully sent in the first place. As a customer I feel disrespected and robbed of $111. Until who knows when. My normal credit card company would refund you the money immediately and go fight for their mistaken money. My boyfriend recently got a MyVanilla card. We mainly use it to pay bills. On 8/30/15 we stopped at a gas station and got gas and drinks. Total came to $33.69. They charged us an extra $150. It came out to be two transactions of $75 and the transaction of $33.69. We called them on 8/31/15, they said it would be refunded on 9/2/15. And it never got refunded. Called again on 9/2/15 and then they said it would be refunded on 9/4/15. STILL NOTHING. I have kids, I have to buy diapers and formula for and I can't because they can't decide when my money will be refunded. If need be I WILL take legal action. I shouldn't have to ask my parents for money. This should of never happened in the first place.
