I had been with Walmart MoneyCard, I'm on disability, and I had some fraud. Someone tried to break in my bank account and I was getting these text messages. I had to go in there and get my disability and load my Netspend for eight months because someone tried taking out loans when I was in the middle of a bankruptcy. I am able to do all my things online with Netspend, other than certain things like my Scentbird Club and FragranceNet.com. It's insured and way better than Walmart MoneyCard.

Netspend was the only card that was able to help me with what I wanted to do and the service was good. When you call customer service to ask questions and find out things, they were helpful. And I could have done anything online. It was easy access to everything. The only thing with the customer service is that the waiting time to get through to them was long, which I tried to explain to them. So, I don't know if they fixed the problem. But I have no problems with the reload. I’m gonna give the direct deposit a year or two to feel a little more comfortable. I don’t wanna do it and then, when I wanna find out something about my money, I have to wait too long on the phone. So, when they take care of that problem, maybe I'll look into the direct deposit. But I'm satisfied with Netspend so far.

I work more than one job and I like that I'm able to get my money in advance, which is before Friday. I could take advantage of that to better manage my finances. It helped me as I could pay my bills on time and I don't have to wait. I used account transfer one time because my son uses Netspend too. We’re able to transfer from each other which has happened before but I don't use that feature all the time.
I do direct deposit because I don't want to think about money all day. I have other things that I like to do and I feel safe knowing that I have a routing number. I have an account number with that but I've had it where they’ve blocked it. I have to call them and then they'll unblock it, which is good, to make sure that it's me using the account. I don't understand though that sometimes, I go to pay for certain things and Netspend is not being acknowledged because it’s prepaid. I had that happen to me but that's the only feature I don't like. Netspend has the $10 overdraft and that has helped me before too. I like Netspend.

I found Netspend a while back and I started using them because it was an easy way to pay my bills. It was one of the cards that I saw first and I kept them. Some of the people, the foreign people, I can't understand, but they get somebody that can understand what I'm trying to say. Also, they're prompt about doing everything. Getting my money two days earlier is a good thing for direct deposit. I suggest the card to anybody. They've been a good company for me and I haven't had an issue with them, except for one time. I had an issue with somebody using my card and there was money taken off my card. They corrected the issue within one week.

A friend bought a Netspend card as a gift for me to help me out and they occasionally put money on there or give me money to put on there. I think I have more money under my account than I do and I was spending more money than I thought I was. I still got what I need but not as much and it's a bummer on my end. I was thinking, “How come I run out of money in a snap?” After I started looking into my account, I figured out why. I’ve been using the card a lot, but I didn't know that they charged an extra dollar or two every time I used it. That's not satisfactory to me and I’m going to be more cautious of where I use it at.
Every time I want to use the card, I have to go through my automated thing 'cause I don't write it down. I also don't go online to check it. I want to see who's charging me the most because I don't appreciate it. I used the alerts, and now, I get those. I have called customer service plenty of times as well because I've had to have a couple of refunds refunded back to me. Unless there's a language barrier, everything is usually cool. There was only one time I interacted with somebody who didn't speak my language as clearly as I presumed that they should to have that job. Other than that, I've always had good customer service with Netspend.

I signed up with Netspend's prepaid Mastercard through my PayPal account and it's been good. If I have direct deposit again when I start back working, I’d definitely set that one up for work. I get direct deposits on my other Netspend card, but I have family members who give gifts and money for the kids sometimes, so I use that. Whatever they send me through PayPal, I add it to that card.
My daughter was using the prepaid Mastercard and she told me that when she got on Amazon to order, some of the money got out of the account. I have 194 on my account and she spent 130, but when she got to Amazon, it did not give her the rest of the money. I wanted to see what's not accounted for and when I checked, I saw that it has been held. I'm just waiting on it to go through.

I like Netspend 'cause I can guarantee on them. I don't like Flare 'cause they messed up my money. I went through a whole lot of stuff, so I had to switch back to Netspend. A friend of mine told me about Netspend. My card has helped a lot. I've got money before everybody has. I've got money earlier when I needed it the most and it's helped me a whole lot. With a normal card, I can’t just slip out the cash and spend it. I have to go and use it. I enjoy the Netspend card. I use Anytime Alerts and I use the direct deposit feature. I love it. I've told a friend about Netspend just the day before yesterday. I said, "Your card is messed up. You have money on your card and it's messed up as it was, you've got the wrong card then.” He said, “What do you mean?" I said, "You to need to get a Netspend card. I got the Netspend card and I ain’t had any problem ever since.” Netspend’s a good card. I've had other cards, but I like Netspend the best.

The Netspend card is working for me well. At the end of last month, I had a person that put money on my card from their Netspend. I had to give a tracking something, and they gave me a 5-digit number, and then I just gave it to her and she used it to send me money. That was the first time I did that out of all the years I’ve been using Netspend. It was automatic. The money came in about three minutes. I recommend other people to get Netspend as well. A lady here wanted to get a card, and I told her, “You need to go grab one off the rack and get Netspend.”

I had a horrible experience trying to get a hold off my card. I was cold transferred more than 7 times. Each transfer was back to the previous department I had spoken with. I asked multiple times to speak with a supervisor because nothing was getting accomplished, I was denied and told my problem did not warrant speaking with a manager. I then asked to file a formal complaint, and that too was decline. I myself work in a call center and it is frowned upon to cold transfer, especially if customer requests a warm transfer. I have been using Nnetspend since 2017 and I have never had to contact customer service. Now that I see how the customer service is, it worrisome if I problem in the future how it would be handled. This call should have taken 10min tops. I had to deal with being transferred for over 45 min. I am extremely disappointed with how this was handled.

I received in the mail a pre-paid Debit card from NetSpend. I have never heard of them. I don't know how they got my information. I was able to get a live "agent" on the phone only after several disconnects. This card has an account # with MetaBank, also unfamiliar to me. There are fees attached to these cards. I do not want it, have not activated it, was told I could shred it. I do hope they have not accessed my credit report without my authorization.

My experience with Netspend is great. But when they do the calendar, it would be nice if they would be more specific on the days. It's December now and I don't know if I'm gonna get it on the 28th or right before Christmas. They don't do a calendar for people that get paid every two weeks and everybody who get paid every week. So they should do like a work calendar for people who work and a benefits calendar for almost the exact day. But they've been on point on everything else. The only thing about the card is that I can't attach it to any cash-out card. It should be more like the rest of the bank cards. If I put in the Netspend, it won't even process service. When it comes to swiping the card, I always get a negative. I thought I had overdraft protection. But I'm fine with that. Netspend is good. They get you paid a week early.

Netspend is right next to where I work at. We had to have direct deposit so I went online, went over there and got me a card. I got the routing number and got direct deposit. Then, I got all my employees to get it also. When Netspend issued me a temporary card, I overdrafted. They were sending me some money through cash apps, so automatically, it would go straight to the card. They told me that I could send but I couldn’t receive money. I told them that they were charging me $45 for overdraft when I'm trying to get the money and they wouldn't release it to let the money come through. So I had to wait till payday to direct deposit to cover that. Also, it took three weeks to get my card. It was the mail carrier’s fault but it was an issue with me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was hung up on by Sergio, a representative. After calling again, I was fed the same line about them not receiving my deposit. Upon further research, I was given information that stated that their servers are down. I was also blocked on their Facebook page, along with anyone else who had information about servers being down. Several other customers along with myself, have not gotten our money since earlier this week. I want to know why Netspend is not being honest with the public and blocking information concerning this matter. So 3 months ago I was a happy camper. I bought a prepaid card at Dollar General and loaded it. When I got home I activated it and apparently orders the new card in the mail. Couple weeks goes by and the card shows. By this time they had got me to transfer unemployment to my account with them. And lo and behold I receive my Texas UI benefits no problem. A month goes by and I had played a sweeps game online and won roughly 759 bucks. And I got that deposited with them too. But mind you I had UI deposits multiple times and sweeps deposits multiple times no problems. Then out of nowhere fake freeze.
Account is frozen cause the address they had was not in Texas where my unemployment came from. And I'm perfectly allowed my unemployment in AZ. I call and they tell me to send in ID, SSC, W2, utility bill, unemployment letter, and proof of income. Which I thought was extremely excessive. Seeing how unemployment had not questioned my address who are they to. Call unemployment next day. And everything is clear on my end. And they proceed to tell me to not provide the documents requested as many fraudulent schemes are be conducted, and unemployment is being targeted. So I simply told them, "Close account. Send money back." They said no to that too.

I love my card and I try to get my husband to cancel his bank account and go with Netspend too. Anytime I've had a problem and I'm able to get through the customer service, they're always prompt and on time. They handle the problems as quickly as possible.
Reloading the card is not hard to do. There are a couple of places in Mobile that I can go to. The only thing is they don't stay open late. If you're not there by 8 o'clock and you have a bill that would come in at 9:30, you won't get that bill paid until the next day and you get aggravated. I have the money on hand and wanna run up there and get the money on it but I can't.
I also love the features of my Netspend as those keep me on my toes and on point because when I get confused, my card always lets me know when something is being done. It's just I can't manage my money better. I always seem to go on the negative even after I pay the $9 and something a month to keep the account from getting messed up. I have a brain injury. I might have ordered something but I didn't want it. 50 something dollars was taken off then another 50 then 40 something. I don't know how to get it off there without canceling one card and getting another.

I've had a Netspend card since I was 55 and I'm almost 65, and I love it. I went to Ace to cash a check and I got my Netspend card then and I haven't gotten rid of it. I've had to reorder one when they expired but other than that, I've always had a Netspend account. I can use my app that way. There is an Ace I could go to in Walmart and add money to my card. I can go to an ATM and draw money off if I paid cash. I have a Sling and I can pull $500 a day if I want to. So, I still spend money on my debit card in the grocery store and have no problem with it whatsoever.
About three years ago, I got charged for something that I did not buy. I did a discrepancy on it. It was a scam and there was a lawsuit with it. One of my things that I spent money on bounced and I had to put more money in my account. Because the lawsuit went through as quick as it did on this company, they gave me double what it was and it was a $200 charge. So, I have no problem with Netspend at all and that was the only time I've ever had to call them.

I connect the card to my Venmo account instead of the account transfer and I use the Anytime Alerts where it tells me if someone’s using my card.

I like the ease of being able to watch my account balance. I use alerts and I've used transfer. They are very convenient to use. I've talked to Netspend reps several times and they were absolutely wonderful. My card was compromised two days before I was set to leave the state and travel for a week. Because I have the app and I check my balance constantly, I realized that within about a 30-minute time period that all of my money was wiped out of my account with the exception of a couple of hundred dollars. When I called, the girl immediately to go to an ATM and take out the rest of my money. The process took less than a week and they refunded my money to me. So I was very, very, very impressed. I was using my card at Bella Vista, Arkansas at the time and all of the charges were in New York. So it was pretty obvious that it wasn’t me using my card. But Netspend took care of it very, very quickly and the process was very easy.

I was working and they said I could get paid two days faster with Netspend, which was why I decided to get the card. I get to pay things ahead of time and at the end of the month, when you're broke and waiting, the money comes early. It sure comes in handy. I have used the alerts feature, where anytime a transaction takes place, it lets you know right away. That way, if you lose your card and somebody's using it then the text message will let you know right where they're at. The reload is fine. You have to pay for it but I don't have any problem with it. You have to wait 30 minutes before it shows up but it’s okay. The reps are always very friendly and they give you the answers that you need. They're very professional. The service is great and I have no complaints with Netspend. I recommended it to everybody.

I can pay my bills and send money if I have to. If I got money on my card, I can send it to another card or my friend’s card. Also, it's easy to reload. You just walk in to your store and tell them you wanna reload a card. They just ask how much and you pay it and in a few seconds, it comes to your card. I just go to a Dollar General, give them the card, give them the money, I get back and about 20 seconds, and usually it's even sooner than half an hour, I can start using my card again. Somebody had purchased something with my card and I had no idea how they got my numbers. I went to the team, I went through the process, and both times had reimbursed me for those. I was looking online on my account and I saw two of $1 charges and $18.95 or something like that charges. I called Netspend and it turned out that it totaled up to $60 or $70 that came out of my account. They started the investigation, cancelled my card, sent me a new card out, and I had to pay to get a new card. The rep added that there was no other choice. She had to cancel it. That kind of upset me for the fact that I needed my card. My direct deposit was about to hit my account within the hour so it stressed me out because of the pay period. I just needed her to wait 10 minutes so I could go and pull out my money ‘cause I got a cash payday advance on my check at work. It was stressful.
Then they were telling me they’re sending me a letter saying that they're closing the investigation ‘cause I didn't send my written report stating that I wanted them to continue on with that. I thought all I had to do was on the phone since I didn't have no other choice. I'm kind of upset about that because they only refunded 20 bucks of my money and because I didn't do it within that certain allotted time, I lost out on $40. Granted, I did not know it was there, but since it was discovered and they put me all through all the hoopla, I should have had to send in a written statement on top of it, so I'm a little bit irritated with that.
But Netspend is the easiest among others. It's like one straight shot. Messing with Green Dot, messing with a Vanilla card, there are fees for this and that. People don't even have an option of doing a monthly fee or per transaction on some of them. I like the fact that if I have the money in my account and Netspend charges me for the monthly fee. If I don't have it, they don't charge me until the next time that I have money on my account. I like that feature. I also like the fact that I could do direct deposit. The customer service helps as much as they can other than my last experience that I was complaining about. But she still did what she was supposed to do and she was still awesome. She was willing to stay on the phone with me to go to the ATM to let me get my money out right then and there. And I got it. She's working and she couldn’t stay on the phone for the hour or 43 minutes.

I have had this card for a few years. Received it to put a tax refund on. I get charged $5 a month which I think is fair. I am currently weaning off the card and moving my money to a bank account for a few reasons. The first reason being, I am constantly paranoid that my account will be hacked/stolen. Twice I have had my account locked for fraud. Both times happened within a year and I was not able to recoup most of what was taken from me the first time. Thank goodness the amount was less than $35. But, both times I had no access to my money until I received a new card which ranged from 5-7 days to receive. It isn't a very secure card. They should definitely consider adding a chip. I don't want to keep worrying about losing money because NetSpend's system is not secure.
The second reason I will be closing the account in the next week or so is because I am having issues paying for stuff other than the places I mostly frequent like Walmart and Amazon and a few other places. When I went to purchase something on a specific site it did not process. When I went to make a mobile food order, it did not work. Today I went to Publix for a small grocery order and the system could not connect to NetSpend. After swiping 3 times, I had to leave a few items behind as I had to pay in cash. If you're in a bind and need something for direct deposit and ease of withdrawing cash, I'd definitely recommend NetSpend. However, if you use it to pay for gas or use on different sites/places, I'd definitely suggest having a back up card (either credit card, Chime, or different bank card with chip) or just skipping this one altogether.

Everything's very good with Netspend. A friend of mine recommended Netspend because I had an overdraft and I needed a card quick. He told me to go ahead and get one of the Netspend. He said. "You can put money in there and you don't have to worry about it, and then take care of your bank afterwards." So I did. I'm still using the card more than I'm using my bank card. I'm transferring more of my money from the bank to the card and it's very helpful because I joined a direct selling company also, called Juice Plus. That's one of the reasons why I got it because my friend is with Juice Plus and I was like, I can't. I don't have a card.
He said to get Netspend and they accept the Netspend. It's very easy to maneuver the app. They give me updates all the time when I use it. They text me. I pressed that option to let me know how much my balance is. That way, I don't have to go straight to the app anymore. It just tells me the balance for this card. I normally don't worry about it. But it's nice to know that it's there. I've had to call up the customer service about different things, like my card will quit working, or the magnetic strip gets damaged, and I have to order a new card. Whenever I have to call and talk to them, I get quick service right away, and I get good service. I have about five different family members that have individual accounts with Netspend.

At first, when I got the Netspend card, I didn't like the $5 fee a month. I didn't use that. But I found that it was more convenient to use that where photos are allowed, and then I can make 8 or 10 transactions without any charges. It used to be a charge for every time it was used. It became convenient for me to pay certain bills and I've been pretty much satisfied with it. I’m using it in places where I need to have a card to pay. Netspend just made it easier for me. I kept getting Netspend cards in the mail, which was how I started using them. It’s not bad but if I use it for a credit, I get $1 charged and if I use it as a debit, it costs me $2 every time I use it on top of the regular. But if you know somebody else who has a Netspend card, you can send them money or they can send you money. We bought it to use to rent movies and stuff on Redbox. A lot of times, we only wanted to load $5 or $10 because they're only a dollar and some change. But the lowest amount you can load on it is $20 and it costs you $4 every time you load it. Netspend is not what I thought I was getting into.

I confirmed my address several times and they also told me that the check went to the wrong address and they need to request which takes up to 48 hours and I should wait 7 to 10 business days to get the check. I'm able to manage a lot of my bills better because I use the card to pay a lot of my bills. It makes it easy instead of using cash. I don't use a lot of cash now and just mostly use my card.
There are features that come along with Netspend which are okay. An excellent one is for the direct deposit. The alerts are fine too because we need that to let us know if there is a transaction being taken, when our money has been coming off our card, or when I have to put money on my card. That's an excellent idea. The reload locations are fine too because they have plenty of reload locations. If I go to their website, it gives me all the locations. It's a great deal.

Before cell phones, I can go into a Safeway store, deposit money into my account, walk outside to the phone booth, call somebody, and make a payment. The money would be in my account instantly. I only have problems sometimes when I have a check to cash. I've had a card for at least 18 years. Sometimes I use the other card too often and wear out the magnetic strip instead of having cash. And I love the direct deposits and the payroll direct deposit. Also, at 6:06 AM my phone beeps and it's got my bank balance for that day. I've got it doing it too on my business account.

I like Netspend better than the other cards I've had so far. With my Netspend, I have an overdraft which helps me when I need it in the month when I’m short. Also, it's faster than with the other cards where I get notified up two or three days earlier than what I normally would. Not long ago, I had to talk to the reps because my other debit card was stolen. I had to report it stolen. Luckily, it was just that one card. It came when I needed it. But when they get to me on the line, to keep somebody from going off the handle like they did once with me, is to be more courteous and understanding instead of interrupting every time I tried to say something.
I have a hard time getting into it app. Every time I try to set it up, it says not available at this time so I would just have NetSpend give me a text what my balance is when I take money off the card. Netspend just has to keep their website up and going right. Because of the Coronavirus, a lot of people are out. I understand that. It's really hard. But for people like me who are on disability and limited with mobility, it's much easier for us than trying to get out there and drive and do everything else when we're laid up.

I received a Netspend card as a gift from my co-workers. I have tried to activate it, register it, everything... And I keep getting looped into this circle of creating an account and giving my social security number. I have not created any sort of account, nor did I buy this, so my SS# would not do anything at this point. I tried to call customer service, and was not able to speak to a human being until I tricked the automated system by just clicking pound (4-5 separate times) when asked for my SS#. Finally, an extremely unhelpful Netspend employee answered and was NOT able to answer a single thing - she was on repeat asking for my SS# "too look me up" when I repeatedly told her I never gave it so it would not be in the system. She was as bad as the robot.
I finally asked to speak to her supervisor, and then I was put on hold for OVER an hour (got four new tires changed during my time on hold). Eventually I hung up - never speaking to the supervisor, or getting any information that I was requesting. THIS IS A SCAM - they want your Social and that is it. I feel bad that I cannot retrieve the funds that were given to me by my coworkers. This should be illegal - they stole money from me, and are trying to steal the identities of anyone who uses this. USE WITH CAUTION!

My grandson purchased a Net Spend card today to make an online purchase. No one at the store advised him that because he is under 18, by one year, that he would be unable to activate the card. When I spoke to them they said that it says that on the inside packet (which you don't generally open and read in the store!). This needs to be more visible. If he wanted to activate it being a minor, he would have to send in a copy of his birth certificate and SSN card (I don't think so). Because I'm not his legal guardian I can't put the card in my name and we're not bothering his mother at work for this. Now we have to wait 10 business days to get a refund check. I would not bother with them at all!!

I've been using Netspend for over 4 years, and all of a sudden on 6/24 at about 10 PM I got a text saying there may be an issue with my card. I called them first thing yesterday morning to be told my account was permanently closed due to being high risk. My husband recently got his unemployment approved and they deposited almost $7500 to our account for backpay and have had deposits every week since, so of course our activity has changed since before COVID-19 happened.
I asked how we were supposed to get our money so that we could pay rent, bills and care for our child, and was told a check would be mailed within 5 days, and would take 7-10 business days to receive it. They also refuse to expedite the check and say they have no way to do so. DO NOT USE NETSPEND. They have already been in trouble with FTC for doing this exact thing to many people a few years ago, and I have seen others that have been having this same thing happen to them just recently.

Original Review: June 24, 2020
The purpose of this review is not to bash Netspend, but to let them know how they can improve. Netspend's Direct Deposit option is gold, FDIC insured, 2 day early pay, purchase cushion of $10 etc.... Those are great attributes of Netspend, and are why I became a customer of Netspend in the first place. Moving on to bad side of Netspend. I had my debit card stolen at the end of 2019. I reported it to Netspend, they sent me out another card. All is well, but why do I as the customer have to pay $9.95 for a card that was stolen from me? Now that made me ponder that for a minute or two, and then I went on about my day.
It gets worse! On May 20th of this year I reached out to Netspend for the first time. I used the contact email provided to me by Netspend on their login page. That is very important to remember, as I go along. I got the first initial @donotreply message from Netspend stating "your message has been received, we will be sure to respond as soon as possible." Typical email automation message, so I felt good at the time.
Seven days go by.... Seven more.... Then another seven. Then three more, and at this point I have emailed Netspend almost seven to eight times, and I am beyond frustrated. (Btw, I did call them, and they either kept bouncing me around/their line was busy). It's now June 18th, and I (the customer) take it upon myself to search "contact us Netspend". One of the first links I click on takes me to yet another landing page of Netspend's and Lo and Behold there's a different email address on this landing page.
I take a deep breath. I hit send, and go on about my day. I did not have any standards for Netspend at this point, so I was genuinely surprised when I received an email from the last email address I contacted. To summarize what happens next, On June 21st I called the # provided in the most recent email from Netspend, and I am once again bounced around until I get a rep on the line.
Once me and her begin speaking I ask her why my account is locked. I am told that after a certain amount of months, with little to no activity Netspend will close the account. I say okay, because that is a very logical reason to close someone's account. That didn't bother me. What did bother me, was the fact that at no point in time did Netspend give me a heads up on the status of my account. A rep. of Netspend could have very easily sent me an automated message stating you have a certain amount of days to start actively using your account before it is terminated. What's even better is that it is now June 24th, and my account is "supposedly" activated, and Netspend will not allow me access to my account. Even with the correct info.
Bye Netspend!,Your Former Customer

I've always received notification about all of my transactions which is why I've never had to contact them...ever. Throughout all of my years being associated with them. The representative that I've spoken to on 2 occasions, keeps lying to me. She told me that she could send me proof of these refunds but did not. Also, told me that I should calculate this total from that total... Unacceptable. I've never had to do this. That response is also unacceptable. If you can't explain to me what's going on, then get me someone who can. I shouldn't have to call twice and then afterwards escalate my issue to potentially someone else. This is ridiculous.

I have had an account with Netspend for over 10 years. I started with a PayPal card and after a few years I got the Brinks M/C and used it for a few years. Because my direct deposits were pretty large they sent me a letter offering me the Brinks Money All Access Card which has more features and better benefits. I had never had a problem until May of 2020. When someone stole my card information including my pin number and took over $2700 off my card. One of the charges had a phone number to the merchant where my card was used and I called the number and spoke with the manager of the store, they were able to pull up the video of the person who used my card and had his license plate number. He had made a card with my number and information on it.
The manager of the store told me to call the police which I did and made a police report and the police went to the merchant and retrieved the video. I immediately called customer service # on the back of my card and wouldn't you know it they were closed and had limited hours because of Covid-19. I was finally able to get in touch with someone on Monday 2 days later and the lady told me that they would have to mail me a new card and that would take 10 business days. (Really?)
I received the new card 10 days later and called back to activate it, (keep in mind they have killed my other card and you have no access to your funds while you're waiting 10 business days for you're new card) The lady then told me I needed to file a dispute for the charges that took place where someone stole my card information, and so I did. I asked the lady how long it would take for the dispute to be resolved? And wouldn't you know it 10 business days of course! They advertise that they have fraud protection (this is fraud in its self, they do not) Nor did they temporarily credit my account the funds which were in question (which they also advertise).
While waiting for the 10 business days to pass I called 5 different times to see if they needed anything else from me to further the investigation and was told no everything was fine. This morning at 5 am I received a text message saying that a message was sent to my inbox in my Brinks account to login to view message, upon logging in the message was from the dispute team and reads like this...
We have completed our investigation concerning your dispute and we have determined that NO ERRORS HAVE OCCURRED AND NO CREDIT TO YOUR ACCOUNT! Wait! What did you just say? How can any Moron look at my account and see charges from another state from where I live 16 hours away, and have charges in the state where I live within minutes of each other??? Oh wait I forgot that I could teleport 16 hours away within 5 minutes, (ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?? WHAT KIND OF DRUGS ARE YOU PEOPLE TAKING???)
Now keep in mind there is a police report with an official case number and actual video footage of this person using a card he made with my number, However no errors have occurred (PLEASE STOP YOUR IGNORANCE IS SICKENING). So once again I call the number to customer service to find out how in the Hell the dispute team came to this conclusion, to which I was told that the dispute team does not have a phone number and I could not speak to them (SERIOUSLY???).
These people control my money and I can't speak to them? What kind of company is this? She told me that she could send me a copy of the results of the dispute team, so I asked her if she could email it to me and she said no she would have to mail it, to which I replied how long does that take? Wait for it, you guessed it 10 business days! Wow! The lady was a supervisor and would not give me the number to her boss but said she would send an email to someone at corporate and have them contact me.
The next day I received a call from Mr Mike ** and he said he was from corporate at Netspend. I explained to him the entire situation from start to finish and he said that based on the information I shared with him that he would resubmit this to the dispute team that he could clearly see where there were simultaneous charges to my account from different states at the same time and maybe they just missed it, so I'm thinking ok it's possible everyone makes mistakes, he said it could take up to 2 days for them to review it, and I was just Grateful it wasn't 10 business days again, so he said he would call me back on Monday and I said thank you finally someone that has intelligence.
He then calls me back not 5 minutes later and says that he just spoke with the review team and he would not be able to submit my case for review because the dispute team said and I quote "The state where my charges took place I could have got on a plane and flew over there in one hour and flown back and used my card in my home state". So therefore there would be no review of my case!! So let me just say this, Mr Mike ** and Netspend, I have called my attorney and he has spoken with the police that conducted the investigation, and I promise you this... This will cost you a hell of a lot more than just the $2700 that was stolen from me, all you had to do was the right thing that any other credible card company would have done but you didn't and I look forward to seeing you in court. With all the evidence I have there's no way in hell that you won't pay me my money!!!
People I beg you do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this company as you can, they care nothing about you or your money and will do nothing to help you if you are ever compromised as I was. I even explained that that was the money to pay my mortgage and they didn't care, save yourself a lot of grief down the road and get a real bank account, I can't begin to imagine how much money I have give them one a 14 year period as they charge you $2.50 every time you swipe your card and for all that money that I have given them they didn't give a ** about me when I needed help! RUN PEOPLE! RUN!

I recently was the victim of theft with my Netspend account. When I noticed my account had a negative balance, I immediately called Netspend to report the issue. I was told that I could file a claim to dispute the charges. I also was told that I would have to wait to file a claim for some of the transactions because they were still in pending status. (I did not understand why netspend did not cancel the transactions if some of the transactions were in pending status and I reported fraud on my account.) I filed a police report and also did my best to investigate on my own behalf, due to the fact that the netspend representative asked me if I contacted the merchants to see if they could credit my account. (I thought this was netspend’s job to do this.)
I found little information on the hacker and I’m still waiting for a provisional credit. When I speak to netspend through phone or email, it seems as though they are treating me like I’m the thief, when I’m the victim of fraud. The funds that were stolen were from my unemployment compensation of over $500. I thought this card was reliable and that if anything like this happened, I would be confident in knowing that my funds would be returned back to my account. So far , nothing. After the investigation is over, I plan to transfer all my accounts to my PNC bank account.
I used the netspend card because of the added feature of being paid two days early and never had any issues in the past with my card or account. although it’s great to get paid early, it’s not worth the hassle to have to go through the agony and stress of having your money returned or to get a provisional credit. The card was in my possession at the time my money was drained from my account. Therefore, I wasn’t being careless with my card or number. I don’t recommend using any prepaid cards because, unlike traditional bank accounts, it’s a challenge to get your money back if situations like this occur.

I bought a NetSpend card awhile back and activated just fine and everything went fine. I made a purchase once I believe then didn't for a while after that so the card just sat in my purse till I needed, Because I don't use it for everything just internet purchases. Okay finally few months later I picked up the card again to get Info for direct deposit. I gotten approved for my unemployment so instead of waiting just figured I'd have my unemployment payments sent to the card instead of waiting on a card from them. So after I submit the direct deposit a few days later I received a text message from NetSpend from text updates that says I have a pending direct deposit and I need to call NetSpend immediately. So I comply and call them right away.
When I finally get ahold of someone after I wait forever they inform me that my account has been locked due to suspicious activity and security reasons. I said what kind of reasons. They couldn't tell me for nothing. Just said that it's locked and that they need me to verify that I am the real account holder by sending in documents of my government issued ID, my social security card and proof of address like a utility bill etc. I said I don't have any bills in my name so how they suppose I do that. I said some people don't choose to get bills in their name.
Then they go on about other necessary documents I can use to verify. I didn't really know what to use but they said I could send a copy of my unemployment thing. So I take a picture of everything and send a copy of the part showing my address etc. They say it can take up to 6 hours to get it resolved through email address they gave me which was support@netspend.com or documents@netspend something or the other. Ok finally they answer back and say that my documents weren't accepted. I need to show the whole letter of my unemployment. I wrote back saying, "This is ridiculous" and I was going to report them. I said, "I gave you what you wanted now I want my money."
I told them they can't legally hold my cash and they have to have a damn good reason considering they can't tell me why. They said, "Mam you received a direct deposit form unemployment and we need you to verify." I said since when does receiving a deposit come to suspicious activity and an account locked? They said, "Mam we need you to verify maybe a ID with address etc." I said my ID's perfectly fine and I'm not paying extra money just to get an address change on it to receive my money that belongs to me. They say, "Well we cannot release if you don't verify with the documents we provided." I said, "You people make no sense. You want proof of address that's what I sent." I said, "My whole damn letter from unemployment isn't your business. You don't need to read my mail to see I live here." They still argued with me. So I go back in there.
I re send my ID, my social security, then a copy of my bank statement showing address a copy of a check stub showing address, a copy from disability showing address and another copy from unemployment all my letters. They reply back again and say not good enough. I said, "This is starting to piss me off. I sent several things showing you that I live here," but they said it wasn't the specific things they told me to send that would work. I said, "I'm about done with you people. I'm seriously bout to call the law cause you're making this more ridiculous than it is."
I said, "I just showed you like 6 things with my name and address but nothing ever good enough." And told them I'm calling the law and reporting them for fraud because they have no right and why wouldn't those documents be good enough their from the state and why would unemployment send me someone else's money and if I didn't live here then why would I have all that mail with a recent date in my name. I said this is the last time I'm attempting this nonsense. So I went back in and sent ID again with social security card and then other documents from the state and a photo of my w2 form. They write back again saying not good enough because I only sent half my W2. Heaven forbid excuse me I folded it in half and took a picture of it showing info and my address but no they need to see the whole thing the when 4 corners of the w2 for it to be valid.
Bout that time I was so aggravated I said, "I'm seriously reporting you to something class action suit the law an attorney to sue your **. I unfolded the w2 and re took and re sent again for the fourth time. Finally they send back saying, "Thank you for submitting your documents" but now they need to send them to the final risk team to review and make sure they made no mistakes etc and that could take up to 24 hours. Then I was really heated. I waited till next day and nothing came so I emailed them again. I said, "It's past 24 hours where is my money at now." I said, "I gave you all the documents you wanted. I want my money." They tell me that my account is ready to be unlocked so I need to call customer service and finalize it. OMG!!!! So then I call back and get ahold of them.
They ask all my info then all the sudden come up with a random phone number asking if I called from that. I said, "No that's not my number." They inform me the account was locked Because supposedly someone not too long ago called up NetSpend on that phone number requiring about my card asking for a replacement. I said, "Well it wasn't me." I said doesn't make sense anyway nobody would of had my card info. The card had been locked away in my lock box for months till I decided to use it again. Then she says, "Well someone did. This is why your account was locked."
So they said, "Let me assist you with unlocking your account" and asked all my Information to update it. Then I asked about my money. I said, "I originally called about my money but then you said my account was locked." I said, "Where's my deposit." She Informs me that it will automatically be deposited since my account is unlocked now but she is not exactly when it will be on the card. All day goes by into the next day and still no deposit. This was a Saturday now. I emailed them again saying, "This has gone on long enough. Where is my money." They replied saying, "I'm sorry. You are concerned about your money but I cannot help with this matter over the phone. You need to call customer service and speak with them but I can assure you your account is unlocked now." Really?
So now it's Sunday and still received no deposit. I wrote back again saying, "This is ridiculous. I just spoke with you people on the phone and makes no sense why I have to call again and wait forever to reach someone. I want my money." They reply with the same thing about my account being unlocked and I need to call customer service about this matter. Now it's Monday. I thought bout it and figured they didn't send yet cause it's Sunday so I said I'll wait till Monday. Now it Monday morning 2:05 am to be exact. I still have no deposit or anything. So I am waiting to see if I will receive it and as soon as I do I am withdrawing the money and putting it up.
I told them no other cards do this crap and it should be illegal as much as they do it. So I am hoping to get my deposit today but so far still waiting. I better get it. That's all I have to say cause this is really ridiculous. This is the worst card and company I have ever come across in my life. And never again will I use this company as a card service as much crap as I've had to go through. No way! So I definitely do not recommend this card or company and never will buy one again. I been using Netspend for years now, my stimulus check was sent to an old account that I misplaced the card and I did not know was there, I have another account with netspend that I use regularly. So when I contacted netspend they told me that my stimulus was deposited into the old account. So when I told the representative to deposit the 1200 from the stimulus check into my account that I've been using now they said they were unable to do that because somebody had already spent the 1200 from the old account and that that old account had a balance of $0.57.
I haven't used the old account in maybe 2 years so I reported it and made a claim for the $1,200 that the person stole from me. They said that the person was making withdrawals from ATMs in Brooklyn New York when I'm from Queens New York and the account I'm using now all the activity that I do is in Queens so I pray that during their investigation that they are able to credit me back that money because right now is a very tough time and I'm in need of that stimulus money more than ever. I didnt know I had that old account. If I did I would of been able to have ordered a new card and none of this would of never happened. Please netspend can you help me. My name is Jesse Joseph.

I can't honestly say that it's the best. All the experiences that I've had with them has been not that greatest. Their accents of many DIFFERENT nationalities so there is NO specific nationality pointed out here. I'm a biracial person and so are my children. I'm only saying it's very hard to understand what they are saying. I wouldn't recommend this card if YOU HONESTLY don't have use it.

Why did we get debit cards that we do not ask for? Where is our personal information coming from. Just like spam but now it via any business that buys list from sellers who do not ask for our permission to make money on our names. More phishing, more bottom feeders. If we want something we will ask. Star system needs changing. Should go minus.

Everything has been great with Netspend/ I like the customer service and advanced days’ pay. When I had to call them for a dispute of a charge, it went great. I couldn’t log in on the mobile app because it kept saying my password wasn’t correct but I didn't even worry about it.

I am the victim of Identity Theft. I contacted PayPal Prepaid Mastercard Customer Service/NetSpend to immediately make them aware. I provided a police report, detective information, everything. I've been a customer for 5 years - 5 YEARS. I've NEVER had this happen to me before, ever. The fraudulent charges exceed a bit more than $800 (my car payment and part of my rent) and left my account balance 0.66. I cried on the phone with the rep because I cannot survive off of 0.66 cents. Even the detective assigned to my case said that he doesn't understand why it is taking Netspend so long to credit my account back. I borrowed 20 dollars from my mom to buy a few grocery items and food for my dogs. I am being told by Netspend they will contact me within 10 days! In 10 days my car will be repossessed. I need someone to help me who can prioritize this matter.

I've had Netspend for a while now and I love them. The app is amazing and I can get my paycheck up to two days earlier. Anytime I have any kind of questions, I can always reach them and they always help. I also loaded money onto my debit card yesterday at Walmart and it was very easy.

When I initially signed up for the card, the card arrived two weeks later than they told me. When I called to enquire about it, they cancelled the first card without as much as a mention. When I got the card and tried to activate it, it was no good because the cancelled it. Had money on the card that I couldn't touch and the call center reps in India (can't understand a word they're saying) simply don't care. Finally got the "good" card and had to call to activate it. Again, the call center in India was a nightmare to deal with. They asked me so many verification questions and kept telling me that my answers were incorrect.
I know the name of the cross street by my house. I know my DOB. They kept telling me they were incorrect answers until I said "Wasn't this company sued for denying customers access to their money while playing the activation game? I am looking at an article right now about what you're doing to me as we speak." What a miracle! Suddenly, my questions worked and I had access to my money. Then, I was charged for a replacement card that I never asked for and a monthly fee that I did not sign up for. I had to file a complaint with the BBB. The assistant to the President emailed me and made it right, but that is telling of how shady and slimy this company is. The Corporate headquarters will only deal with you if you file a claim on the BBB. You're SOL and have to deal with India if you have any issues.
I kept getting new cards mailed to me for some reason and they could not explain why. There were a few minor issues that took HOURS to resolve. Customer service in India is rude. Had on guy tell me to ** off. The FTC sued them in 2016 for not allowing customers access to their accounts and it cost them $54 million, but they are still doing the same thing in 2020 that got them sued for in 2016. I strongly urge people to use a bank or a credit union. I have yet to see a review that said Netspend works with you if you get hacked. They tell you "too bad, so sad." If you cannot get a bank account, try BBVA. They accept almost everyone. They don't use Chexis. I have had my card hacked and BBVA erroneously charged me an overdraft fee and fixed it in minutes. Getting paid two days early was the only benefit. Never again.

The reps at Netspend are very helpful. I've had them years ago and I use the card like I use any other cards. I have used it for my Access ride and I didn't have any issues. However, sometimes, they’ll lock me out where I can't use it. Then I call in, and I have to tell them something, and they say, "Oh, we didn’t know if it was really you."

My wife has a Netspend account and I got the Flare one. Reloading is real simple and easy. The app works good, too. It’s easy for me to transfer money from and into my Cash App. Customer service helped me out a lot and it was on a Sunday. Netspend costs too much, though. It costs me $4 to take 50 bucks off. Anything under 100, I feel I should get for free.

It's easy to use the reload locations and when I call for customer service, asking a question, they really help me even though I have an accent. They listen to what I'm saying and they fix my problem. Before, I was having a hard time because I'm not really into computers. But I called the lady and told her. She told me what to do and now, I'm on the app and I like it.

I use Netspend for direct payment. There are benefits in having the card. However, unfortunately, I gave the IRS my stimulus information for my routing information. It was all correct and it was supposed to be there on the 30th of April, but it still hasn’t shown up on my card. Netspend said without a tracking number, they couldn’t do anything. On the IRS website, it says if it isn’t in your bank account, contact your bank because they scheduled it to be sent on the 30th of April, which was going on almost a month ago.

My new Cleveland Indians NetSpend card is great. I like everything that the debit card offers and the different degrees of transferring money. But I was trying to figure out how I could transfer money from my PayPal because that's where my unemployment is going right now. I wanted to transfer it to my NetSpend card. I downloaded the app which I was surprisingly familiar with because PayPal is set up almost identically. So it's very easy to navigate. But also, I was sitting there looking and those two damn things are the same apps. It got overwhelming for me. Their websites are so much alike too. It's crazy. Netspend should change their colors or do something. It's bad enough that when you are texting someone and someone else texts in, when you go back and text, you send it to the person that just sent you a text. You don’t wanna be messing up and sending your money to the wrong person.
I also had to do some recovery work for someone who had put money on their Green Dot card and couldn't get their money back. I did a lot of looking on all those and that’s why I chose Netspend. I've also noticed that the security that NetSpend had is fantastic. One of my kids is an engineer who works in the oil field and another one is a soldier. They send money back and forth, and I wonder how they’re not constantly being ripped off. I don’t have any money per se but if and when I do, I don't want someone to just be able to access it.

I bought a Netspend card through Walgreens and I’ve had it for a couple years at least. I’ve kept it and used it just because I needed a credit card. They are charging me to use my money and to even have the card. I get charged when I put money on it so, I’m not happy with the situation but in my position, that’s all I can do in order to have a credit card. I recently had a couple of issues on some charges on my account. I bought some pans online and I didn’t investigate the company first to see if they had a phone number, a website, customer service or the reviews. So, I literally waited for over a month for these pans to come in and they hadn’t. So, I called Netspend and let them know what the problem was. They said something about me having to fill out some complaint form even though I'd given them the exact transaction and everything else of both of the incidents.
There was one that I don't know how it got in there because I don't deal with PayPal and the other one being through the order for the pans, which was $98. Netspend wasn’t able to reverse the charges because I didn't go online and fill out the form right away for the grievance. So, they said that I have to still go online and fill that out, and they're still doing the investigation on it. I still haven’t received the product in the mail. After looking up the company, the only way to contact them is through email and when you send an email, you get a robotic email back and that’s all that you get back. So, it’s not something that I’m probably ever gonna see.

I liked that with Netspend, I didn't have to wait until the exact day my social security is deposited into my account. It's usually five days early. I went with them but then now, the only way I can reload my card is by going to H-E-B. There should be more options if I wanted to take an amount of dollars and deposit it from one account to my Netspend.
I have six different accounts and if I wanted to take money from my stock account and transfer it to my Netspend, I want to be able to do that through an automatic transfer. Still, I would recommend Netspend to my friends. I have also recommended it to my brother who didn't believe that he would get social security deposits five days early until he tried it and it happened. Netspend has also paid me for referrals through their referral program which is a nice thing that they have.

I used Netspend once but I shied away from them when I got a letter in the mail from the company itself at one point about something that had occurred, and it wasn’t my fault type of situation. I had also told the government about it. Then I came to the West Coast and I started to see that everybody was getting paid around the same time. I wanted to know the resources that I could utilize to stand out, be different and get paid early. That was when I came back to Netspend 'cause I had some knowledge of how they'd work already.
A week ago, I had to report my card stolen ‘cause somebody had taken 83 bucks off my card. I'm still waiting for it to come back onto my new card. It would be cool if I didn’t have to wait so long to get my money put on to my card that was stolen. Also, we should be able to use NetSpend on CASHet, the Uber app, and the Lyft app.

My stimulus check was deposited into an account that was inactive and I no longer have a card attached to. I had opened a business account since my last tax refund and had allowed my personal account to just fade away. I was able to have a new card sent to me that had the balance from my stimulus check on it, and close the business account I no longer needed in less than five minutes. Awesome.

Being fair I’d rate them 2 stars only because they will send cards, but never answer the phone. For an example I had a card that I had to replace because it was lost. Because I never use it they sent me another card and they won’t assist me on hooking it up because it still goes into my old account and I just get emails that are the same random emails. No assistance at all. Not to mention, the fees are absolutely ridiculously high for using your own money! Seriously I’d use Chime (had that card 3 years... never a problem!! Cash app etc... They are associated with PayPal too which has ridiculous fees too. I’d use only If it’s vital that you have to have a card.. They do send cards quick.
