My experience with Netspend was wonderful. I heard Netspend was better than Green Dot, so that was why I used them. I use it to pay all my bills. One time, somebody took some money off my card the night before last. But they put it back on and I was pleased with that. They were professional. I use both account transfer and anytime alert and that saved me a lot. It's also very easy to do. I also like the direct deposit the most.

I've got a really great experience with Netspend. I have the Anytime Alert and it's been really good. There’s like twice, that money was taken out of my card through that Prime Amazon so, it alerted me and I was able to take care of that. They’re great any time I talk to them. I also like that I can use the card anywhere and it's accepted in several places.

I have had this card for a few years. Received it to put a tax refund on. I get charged $5 a month which I think is fair. I am currently weaning off the card and moving my money to a bank account for a few reasons. The first reason being, I am constantly paranoid that my account will be hacked/stolen. Twice I have had my account locked for fraud. Both times happened within a year and I was not able to recoup most of what was taken from me the first time. Thank goodness the amount was less than $35. But, both times I had no access to my money until I received a new card which ranged from 5-7 days to receive. It isn't a very secure card. They should definitely consider adding a chip. I don't want to keep worrying about losing money because NetSpend's system is not secure.
The second reason I will be closing the account in the next week or so is because I am having issues paying for stuff other than the places I mostly frequent like Walmart and Amazon and a few other places. When I went to purchase something on a specific site it did not process. When I went to make a mobile food order, it did not work. Today I went to Publix for a small grocery order and the system could not connect to NetSpend. After swiping 3 times, I had to leave a few items behind as I had to pay in cash. If you're in a bind and need something for direct deposit and ease of withdrawing cash, I'd definitely recommend NetSpend. However, if you use it to pay for gas or use on different sites/places, I'd definitely suggest having a back up card (either credit card, Chime, or different bank card with chip) or just skipping this one altogether.

Everything's very good with Netspend. A friend of mine recommended Netspend because I had an overdraft and I needed a card quick. He told me to go ahead and get one of the Netspend. He said. "You can put money in there and you don't have to worry about it, and then take care of your bank afterwards." So I did. I'm still using the card more than I'm using my bank card. I'm transferring more of my money from the bank to the card and it's very helpful because I joined a direct selling company also, called Juice Plus. That's one of the reasons why I got it because my friend is with Juice Plus and I was like, I can't. I don't have a card.
He said to get Netspend and they accept the Netspend. It's very easy to maneuver the app. They give me updates all the time when I use it. They text me. I pressed that option to let me know how much my balance is. That way, I don't have to go straight to the app anymore. It just tells me the balance for this card. I have two Netspend cards, a Visa and a Mastercard.

Netspend has the best services. The only thing is I get paid on a Friday and it comes on my card Thursday but it comes on after 10 o'clock at night. That's just like I'm getting paid Friday morning. And sometimes it doesn't come until 6 o'clock on Friday morning. Other than that, they treat their customers right and it's easy to contact someone. Also, the app is beautiful. It's a wonderful thing when one is my age and doesn't know too much about computers.

Four years ago, I did my taxes through TurboTax. I didn't have a bank account so I did my refund then through a Netspend card. It was easier to put money on the card instead of carrying a lot of cash so I stayed with them. Navigating their app on my is easy to do. I get all the emails and notifications from them there. I used Netspend's direct deposit option until I got a regular checking account. That's when I switched to a regular bank as it was easier to get things done that way than go through Netspend. Back in June, I had an issue with a place I bought something from. I never received the product I purchased. I got a hold of Netspend to see if they could do anything about it. They looked into it and put the money I spent back on my card.

I use Netspend as a debit card and I haven't had any problems with overdrafts or anything else. I have Anytime Alerts. My checks go through a direct deposit to the account. I do account transfers quite often, between me and my son or my daughter, and between my checking and savings. I can go to Walmart and reload or a couple of other places. I have to pay for it there. I normally don't worry about it. But it's nice to know that it's there. I've had to call up the customer service about different things, like my card will quit working, or the magnetic strip gets damaged, and I have to order a new card. I kept getting Netspend cards in the mail, which was how I started using them. It’s not bad but if I use it for a credit, I get $1 charged and if I use it as a debit, it costs me $2 every time I use it on top of the regular. But if you know somebody else who has a Netspend card, you can send them money or they can send you money. We bought it to use to rent movies and stuff on Redbox. A lot of times, we only wanted to load $5 or $10 because they're only a dollar and some change. But the lowest amount you can load on it is $20 and it costs you $4 every time you load it. Netspend is not what I thought I was getting into.

There are features that come along with Netspend which are okay. An excellent one is for the direct deposit. The alerts are fine too because we need that to let us know if there is a transaction being taken, when our money has been coming off our card, or when I have to put money on my card. That's an excellent idea. The reload locations are fine too because they have plenty of reload locations. If I go to their website, it gives me all the locations. It's a great deal.

Not long ago, I had to talk to the reps because my other debit card was stolen. I had to report it stolen. Luckily, it was just that one card. It came when I needed it. But when they get to me on the line, to keep somebody from going off the handle like they did once with me, is to be more courteous and understanding instead of interrupting every time I tried to say something.
I have a hard time getting into it app. Every time I try to set it up, it says not available at this time so I would just have NetSpend give me a text what my balance is when I take money off the card. Netspend just has to keep their website up and going right. Because of the Coronavirus, a lot of people are out. I understand that. It's really hard. But for people like me who are on disability and limited with mobility, it's much easier for us than trying to get out there and drive and do everything else when we're laid up.

Netspend is an ACE Flare account and they have that local branch in our town so, if need it, I just go to the store. The ease of that is one of the reasons I went with it. It has been really good with their customer service although most of the time, I feel like some of them have a real thick accent. I can’t understand anything they’re saying. Also, I've referred three different people and the referral program is lame. Other than that, I like the app. It's pretty easy. And the deposit comes three days earlier.

I was told that the merchant hadn't received the money yet, and that I had called in time. Also that they would note the account, but if at a later date the merchant charged me, to let them know... Which I did, when the charge came off of my card. Netspend will not refund my money, saying that the merchant showed them proof that it was valid... BS! I not only canceled the transaction with the merchant, but had notified my bank long before the merchant sought payment. Very unsatisfied!

I dealt with Social Security but I got to the point where I told them to remove the Netspend account from my Social Security.
Other than that, Netspend's customer service has taken care of everything I've needed to address. Also, I use the card constantly and I pay all my bills with it. I received a Netspend card as a gift from my co-workers. I have tried to activate it, register it, everything... And I keep getting looped into this circle of creating an account and giving my social security number. I have not created any sort of account, nor did I buy this, so my SS# would not do anything at this point. I tried to call customer service, and was not able to speak to a human being until I tricked the automated system by just clicking pound (4-5 separate times) when asked for my SS#. Finally, an extremely unhelpful Netspend employee answered and was NOT able to answer a single thing - she was on repeat asking for my SS# "too look me up" when I repeatedly told her I never gave it so it would not be in the system. She was as bad as the robot.
I finally asked to speak to her supervisor, and then I was put on hold for OVER an hour (got four new tires changed during my time on hold). Eventually I hung up - never speaking to the supervisor, or getting any information that I was requesting. THIS IS A SCAM - they want your Social and that is it. I feel bad that I cannot retrieve the funds that were given to me by my coworkers. This should be illegal - they stole money from me, and are trying to steal the identities of anyone who uses this. USE WITH CAUTION!

When I spoke to them they said that it says that on the inside packet (which you don't generally open and read in the store!). This needs to be more visible. If he wanted to activate it being a minor, he would have to send in a copy of his birth certificate and SSN card (I don't think so). Because I'm not his legal guardian I can't put the card in my name and we're not bothering his mother at work for this. Now we have to wait 10 business days to get a refund check. I would not bother with them at all!!

I called them first thing yesterday morning to be told my account was permanently closed due to being high risk. My husband recently got his unemployment approved and they deposited almost $7500 to our account for backpay and have had deposits every week since, so of course our activity has changed since before COVID-19 happened.
I asked how we were supposed to get our money so that we could pay rent, bills and care for our child, and was told a check would be mailed within 5 days, and would take 7-10 business days to receive it. They also refuse to expedite the check and say they have no way to do so. DO NOT USE NETSPEND. They have already been in trouble with FTC for doing this exact thing to many people a few years ago, and I have seen others that have been having this same thing happen to them just recently.

The purpose of this review is not to bash Netspend, but to let them know how they can improve. Netspend's Direct Deposit option is gold, FDIC insured, 2 day early pay, purchase cushion of $10 etc.... Those are great attributes of Netspend, and are why I became a customer of Netspend in the first place. Moving on to bad side of Netspend. I had my debit card stolen at the end of 2019. I reported it to Netspend, they sent me out another card. All is well, but why do I as the customer have to pay $9.95 for a card that was stolen from me? Now that made me ponder that for a minute or two, and then I went on about my day.
It gets worse! On May 20th of this year I reached out to Netspend for the first time. I used the contact email provided to me by Netspend on their login page. That is very important to remember, as I go along. I got the first initial @donotreply message from Netspend stating "your message has been received, we will be sure to respond as soon as possible." Typical email automation message, so I felt good at the time.
Seven days go by.... Seven more.... Then another seven. Then three more, and at this point I have emailed Netspend almost seven to eight times, and I am beyond frustrated. (Btw, I did call them, and they either kept bouncing me around/their line was busy). It's now June 18th, and I (the customer) take it upon myself to search "contact us Netspend". One of the first links I click on takes me to yet another landing page of Netspend's and Lo and Behold there's a different email address on this landing page.
I take a deep breath. I hit send, and go on about my day. I did not have any standards for Netspend at this point, so I was genuinely surprised when I received an email from the last email address I contacted. To summarize what happens next, On June 21st I called the # provided in the most recent email from Netspend, and I am once again bounced around until I get a rep on the line.
Once me and her begin speaking I ask her why my account is locked. I am told that after a certain amount of months, with little to no activity Netspend will close the account. I say okay, because that is a very logical reason to close someone's account. That didn't bother me. What did bother me, was the fact that at no point in time did Netspend give me a heads up on the status of my account. A rep. of Netspend could have very easily sent me an automated message stating you have a certain amount of days to start actively using your account before it is terminated. What's even better is that it is now June 24th, and my account is "supposedly" activated, and Netspend will not allow me access to my account. Even with the correct info.
Bye Netspend!,Your Former Customer

I have had an account with Netspend for over 10 years. I started with a PayPal card and after a few years I got the Brinks M/C and used it for a few years. Because my direct deposits were pretty large they sent me a letter offering me the Brinks Money All Access Card which has more features and better benefits. I had never had a problem until May of 2020. When someone stole my card information including my pin number and took over $2700 off my card. One of the charges had a phone number to the merchant where my card was used and I called the number and spoke with the manager of the store, they were able to pull up the video of the person who used my card and had his license plate number. He had made a card with my number and information on it.
The manager of the store told me to call the police which I did and made a police report and the police went to the merchant and retrieved the video. I immediately called customer service # on the back of my card and wouldn't you know it they were closed and had limited hours because of Covid-19. I was finally able to get in touch with someone on Monday 2 days later and the lady told me that they would have to mail me a new card and that would take 10 business days. (Really?)
I received the new card 10 days later and called back to activate it, (keep in mind they have killed my other card and you have no access to your funds while you're waiting 10 business days for you're new card) The lady then told me I needed to file a dispute for the charges that took place where someone stole my card information, and so I did. I asked the lady how long it would take for the dispute to be resolved? And wouldn't you know it 10 business days of course! They advertise that they have fraud protection (this is fraud in its self, they do not) Nor did they temporarily credit my account the funds which were in question (which they also advertise).
While waiting for the 10 business days to pass I called 5 different times to see if they needed anything else from me to further the investigation and was told no everything was fine. This morning at 5 am I received a text message saying that a message was sent to my inbox in my Brinks account to login to view message, upon logging in the message was from the dispute team and reads like this...
We have completed our investigation concerning your dispute and we have determined that NO ERRORS HAVE OCCURRED AND NO CREDIT TO YOUR ACCOUNT! Wait! What did you just say? How can any Moron look at my account and see charges from another state from where I live 16 hours away, and have charges in the state where I live within minutes of each other??? Oh wait I forgot that I could teleport 16 hours away within 5 minutes, (ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?? WHAT KIND OF DRUGS ARE YOU PEOPLE TAKING???)
Now keep in mind there is a police report with an official case number and actual video footage of this person using a card he made with my number, However no errors have occurred (PLEASE STOP YOUR IGNORANCE IS SICKENING). So once again I call the number to customer service to find out how in the Hell the dispute team came to this conclusion, to which I was told that the dispute team does not have a phone number and I could not speak to them (SERIOUSLY???).
These people control my money and I can't speak to them? What kind of company is this? She told me that she could send me a copy of the results of the dispute team, so I asked her if she could email it to me and she said no she would have to mail it, to which I replied how long does that take? Wait for it, you guessed it 10 business days! Wow! The lady was a supervisor and would not give me the number to her boss but said she would send an email to someone at corporate and have them contact me.
The next day I received a call from Mr Mike ** and he said he was from corporate at Netspend. I explained to him the entire situation from start to finish and he said that based on the information I shared with him that he would resubmit this to the dispute team that he could clearly see where there were simultaneous charges to my account from different states at the same time and maybe they just missed it, so I'm thinking ok it's possible everyone makes mistakes, he said it could take up to 2 days for them to review it, and I was just Grateful it wasn't 10 business days again, so he said he would call me back on Monday and I said thank you finally someone that has intelligence.
He then calls me back not 5 minutes later and says that he just spoke with the review team and he would not be able to submit my case for review because the dispute team said and I quote "The state where my charges took place I could have got on a plane and flew over there in one hour and flown back and used my card in my home state". So therefore there would be no review of my case!! So let me just say this, Mr Mike ** and Netspend, I have called my attorney and he has spoken with the police that conducted the investigation, and I promise you this... This will cost you a hell of a lot more than just the $2700 that was stolen from me, all you had to do was the right thing that any other credible card company would have done but you didn't and I look forward to seeing you in court. With all the evidence I have there's no way in hell that you won't pay me my money!!!
People I beg you do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this company as you can, they care nothing about you or your money and will do nothing to help you if you are ever compromised as I was. I even explained that that was the money to pay my mortgage and they didn't care, save yourself a lot of grief down the road and get a real bank account, I can't begin to imagine how much money I have give them one a 14 year period as they charge you $2.50 every time you swipe your card and for all that money that I have given them they didn't give a ** about me when I needed help! RUN PEOPLE! RUN!

When they mailed me my money they kept 20.00 of my money because they mailed me a check. I will never use you guys and will tell everyone I know to cancel there's as well.

I recently was the victim of theft with my Netspend account. When I noticed my account had a negative balance, I immediately called Netspend to report the issue. I was told that I could file a claim to dispute the charges. I also was told that I would have to wait to file a claim for some of the transactions because they were still in pending status. (I did not understand why netspend did not cancel the transactions if some of the transactions were in pending status and I reported fraud on my account.) I filed a police report and also did my best to investigate on my own behalf, due to the fact that the netspend representative asked me if I contacted the merchants to see if they could credit my account. (I thought this was netspend’s job to do this.)
I found little information on the hacker and I’m still waiting for a provisional credit. When I speak to netspend through phone or email, it seems as though they are treating me like I’m the thief, when I’m the victim of fraud. The funds that were stolen were from my unemployment compensation of over $500. I thought this card was reliable and that if anything like this happened, I would be confident in knowing that my funds would be returned back to my account. So far , nothing. After the investigation is over, I plan to transfer all my accounts to my PNC bank account.
I used the netspend card because of the added feature of being paid two days early and never had any issues in the past with my card or account. although it’s great to get paid early, it’s not worth the hassle to have to go through the agony and stress of having your money returned or to get a provisional credit. The card was in my possession at the time my money was drained from my account. Therefore, I wasn’t being careless with my card or number. I don’t recommend using any prepaid cards because, unlike traditional bank accounts, it’s a challenge to get your money back if situations like this occur.

I submitted a claim for false purchases made on my account that I was unaware of and man when I tell you that they made my day yesterday oh my goodness. I needed to pay so many things and my money was just disappearing piece by piece. I cried for joy yesterday. They handle my claim in a great timely manner. As I waited patiently to hear back from them it was a struggle for me to handle what I needed to. Netspend workers are great. As of yesterday I changed my pin again, I erased all important info on my phone and locked every important app. This was a lesson learned for me and also a good outcome because these guys submitted back every penny that was taken away from me. Thank you guys dearly.

I bought a NetSpend card awhile back and activated just fine and everything went fine. I made a purchase once I believe then didn't for a while after that so the card just sat in my purse till I needed, Because I don't use it for everything just internet purchases. Okay finally few months later I picked up the card again to get Info for direct deposit. I gotten approved for my unemployment so instead of waiting just figured I'd have my unemployment payments sent to the card instead of waiting on a card from them. So after I submit the direct deposit a few days later I received a text message from NetSpend from text updates that says I have a pending direct deposit and I need to call NetSpend immediately. So I comply and call them right away.
When I finally get ahold of someone after I wait forever they inform me that my account has been locked due to suspicious activity and security reasons. I said what kind of reasons. They couldn't tell me for nothing. Just said that it's locked and that they need me to verify that I am the real account holder by sending in documents of my government issued ID, my social security card and proof of address like a utility bill etc. I said I don't have any bills in my name so how they suppose I do that. I said some people don't choose to get bills in their name.
Then they go on about other necessary documents I can use to verify. I didn't really know what to use but they said I could send a copy of my unemployment thing. So I take a picture of everything and send a copy of the part showing my address etc. They say it can take up to 6 hours to get it resolved through email address they gave me which was support@netspend.com or documents@netspend something or the other. Ok finally they answer back and say that my documents weren't accepted. I need to show the whole letter of my unemployment. I wrote back saying, "This is ridiculous" and I was going to report them. I said, "I gave you what you wanted now I want my money."
I told them they can't legally hold my cash and they have to have a damn good reason considering they can't tell me why. They said, "Mam you received a direct deposit form unemployment and we need you to verify." I said since when does receiving a deposit come to suspicious activity and an account locked? They said, "Mam we need you to verify maybe a ID with address etc." I said my ID's perfectly fine and I'm not paying extra money just to get an address change on it to receive my money that belongs to me. They say, "Well we cannot release if you don't verify with the documents we provided." I said, "You people make no sense. You want proof of address that's what I sent." I said, "My whole damn letter from unemployment isn't your business. You don't need to read my mail to see I live here." They still argued with me. So I go back in there.
I re send my ID, my social security, then a copy of my bank statement showing address a copy of a check stub showing address, a copy from disability showing address and another copy from unemployment all my letters. They reply back again and say not good enough. I said, "This is starting to piss me off. I sent several things showing you that I live here," but they said it wasn't the specific things they told me to send that would work. I said, "I'm about done with you people. I'm seriously bout to call the law cause you're making this more ridiculous than it is."
I said, "I just showed you like 6 things with my name and address but nothing ever good enough." And told them I'm calling the law and reporting them for fraud because they have no right and why wouldn't those documents be good enough their from the state and why would unemployment send me someone else's money and if I didn't live here then why would I have all that mail with a recent date in my name. I said this is the last time I'm attempting this nonsense. So I went back in and sent ID again with social security card and then other documents from the state and a photo of my w2 form. They write back again saying not good enough because I only sent half my W2. Heaven forbid excuse me I folded it in half and took a picture of it showing info and my address but no they need to see the whole thing the when 4 corners of the w2 for it to be valid.
Bout that time I was so aggravated I said, "I'm seriously reporting you to something class action suit the law an attorney to sue your **. I unfolded the w2 and re took and re sent again for the fourth time. Finally they send back saying, "Thank you for submitting your documents" but now they need to send them to the final risk team to review and make sure they made no mistakes etc and that could take up to 24 hours. Then I was really heated. I waited till next day and nothing came so I emailed them again. I said, "It's past 24 hours where is my money at now." I said, "I gave you all the documents you wanted. I want my money." They tell me that my account is ready to be unlocked so I need to call customer service and finalize it. OMG!!!! So then I call back and get ahold of them.
They ask all my info then all the sudden come up with a random phone number asking if I called from that. I said, "No that's not my number." They inform me the account was locked Because supposedly someone not too long ago called up NetSpend on that phone number requiring about my card asking for a replacement. I said, "Well it wasn't me." I said doesn't make sense anyway nobody would of had my card info. The card had been locked away in my lock box for months till I decided to use it again. Then she says, "Well someone did. This is why your account was locked."
So they said, "Let me assist you with unlocking your account" and asked all my Information to update it. Then I asked about my money. I said, "I originally called about my money but then you said my account was locked." I said, "Where's my deposit." She Informs me that it will automatically be deposited since my account is unlocked now but she is not exactly when it will be on the card. All day goes by into the next day and still no deposit. This was a Saturday now. I emailed them again saying, "This has gone on long enough. Where is my money." They replied saying, "I'm sorry. You are concerned about your money but I cannot help with this matter over the phone. You need to call customer service and speak with them but I can assure you your account is unlocked now." Really?
So now it's Sunday and still received no deposit. I wrote back again saying, "This is ridiculous. I just spoke with you people on the phone and makes no sense why I have to call again and wait forever to reach someone. I want my money." They reply with the same thing about my account being unlocked and I need to call customer service about this matter. Now it's Monday. I thought bout it and figured they didn't send yet cause it's Sunday so I said I'll wait till Monday. Now it Monday morning 2:05 am to be exact. I still have no deposit or anything. So I am waiting to see if I will receive it and as soon as I do I am withdrawing the money and putting it up.
I told them no other cards do this crap and it should be illegal as much as they do it. So I am hoping to get my deposit today but so far still waiting. I better get it. That's all I have to say cause this is really ridiculous. This is the worst card and company I have ever come across in my life. And never again will I use this company as a card service as much crap as I've had to go through. No way! So I definitely do not recommend this card or company and never will buy one again. Also another company I had same issue with is Vanilla one prepaid visa. So be aware of them both. They're bad news and I believe they are fraud doing people so wrong I think.

I been using Netspend for years now, my stimulus check was sent to an old account that I misplaced the card and I did not know was there, I have another account with netspend that I use regularly. So when I contacted netspend they told me that my stimulus was deposited into the old account. So when I told the representative to deposit the 1200 from the stimulus check into my account that I've been using now they said they were unable to do that because somebody had already spent the 1200 from the old account and that that old account had a balance of $0.57.
I haven't used the old account in maybe 2 years so I reported it and made a claim for the $1,200 that the person stole from me. They said that the person was making withdrawals from ATMs in Brooklyn New York when I'm from Queens New York and the account I'm using now all the activity that I do is in Queens so I pray that during their investigation that they are able to credit me back that money because right now is a very tough time and I'm in need of that stimulus money more than ever. I didnt know I had that old account. If I did I would of been able to have ordered a new card and none of this would of never happened. Please netspend can you help me. My name is Jesse Joseph.

I am the victim of Identity Theft. I contacted PayPal Prepaid Mastercard Customer Service/NetSpend to immediately make them aware. I provided a police report, detective information, everything. I've been a customer for 5 years - 5 YEARS. I've NEVER had this happen to me before, ever. The fraudulent charges exceed a bit more than $800 (my car payment and part of my rent) and left my account balance 0.66. I cried on the phone with the rep because I cannot survive off of 0.66 cents. Even the detective assigned to my case said that he doesn't understand why it is taking Netspend so long to credit my account back. I borrowed 20 dollars from my mom to buy a few grocery items and food for my dogs. I am being told by Netspend they will contact me within 10 days! In 10 days my car will be repossessed. I need someone to help me who can prioritize this matter.

When I initially signed up for the card, the card arrived two weeks later than they told me. When I called to enquire about it, they cancelled the first card without as much as a mention. When I got the card and tried to activate it, it was no good because the cancelled it. Had money on the card that I couldn't touch and the call center reps in India (can't understand a word they're saying) simply don't care. Finally got the "good" card and had to call to activate it. Again, the call center in India was a nightmare to deal with. They asked me so many verification questions and kept telling me that my answers were incorrect.
I know the name of the cross street by my house. I know my DOB. They kept telling me they were incorrect answers until I said "Wasn't this company sued for denying customers access to their money while playing the activation game? I am looking at an article right now about what you're doing to me as we speak." What a miracle! Suddenly, my questions worked and I had access to my money. Then, I was charged for a replacement card that I never asked for and a monthly fee that I did not sign up for. I had to file a complaint with the BBB. The assistant to the President emailed me and made it right, but that is telling of how shady and slimy this company is. The Corporate headquarters will only deal with you if you file a claim on the BBB. You're SOL and have to deal with India if you have any issues.
I kept getting new cards mailed to me for some reason and they could not explain why. There were a few minor issues that took HOURS to resolve. Customer service in India is rude. Had on guy tell me to ** off. The FTC sued them in 2016 for not allowing customers access to their accounts and it cost them $54 million, but they are still doing the same thing in 2020 that got them sued for in 2016. I strongly urge people to use a bank or a credit union. I have yet to see a review that said Netspend works with you if you get hacked. They tell you "too bad, so sad." If you cannot get a bank account, try BBVA. They accept almost everyone. They don't use Chexis. I have had my card hacked and BBVA erroneously charged me an overdraft fee and fixed it in minutes. Getting paid two days early was the only benefit. Never again.

My new Cleveland Indians NetSpend card is great. I like everything that the debit card offers and the different degrees of transferring money. But I was trying to figure out how I could transfer money from my PayPal because that's where my unemployment is going right now. I wanted to transfer it to my NetSpend card. I downloaded the app which I was surprisingly familiar with because PayPal is set up almost identically. So it's very easy to navigate. But also, I was sitting there looking and those two damn things are the same apps. It got overwhelming for me. Their websites are so much alike too. It's crazy. Netspend should change their colors or do something. It's bad enough that when you are texting someone and someone else texts in, when you go back and text, you send it to the person that just sent you a text. You don’t wanna be messing up and sending your money to the wrong person.
I also had to do some recovery work for someone who had put money on their Green Dot card and couldn't get their money back. I did a lot of looking on all those and that’s why I chose Netspend. I've also noticed that the security that NetSpend had is fantastic. One of my kids is an engineer who works in the oil field and another one is a soldier. They send money back and forth, and I wonder how they’re not constantly being ripped off. I don’t have any money per se but if and when I do, I don't want someone to just be able to access it.

I bought a Netspend card through Walgreens and I’ve had it for a couple years at least. I’ve kept it and used it just because I needed a credit card. They are charging me to use my money and to even have the card. I get charged when I put money on it so, I’m not happy with the situation but in my position, that’s all I can do in order to have a credit card. I recently had a couple of issues on some charges on my account. I bought some pans online and I didn’t investigate the company first to see if they had a phone number, a website, customer service or the reviews. So, I literally waited for over a month for these pans to come in and they hadn’t. So, I called Netspend and let them know what the problem was. They said something about me having to fill out some complaint form even though I'd given them the exact transaction and everything else of both of the incidents.
There was one that I don't know how it got in there because I don't deal with PayPal and the other one being through the order for the pans, which was $98. Netspend wasn’t able to reverse the charges because I didn't go online and fill out the form right away for the grievance. So, they said that I have to still go online and fill that out, and they're still doing the investigation on it. I still haven’t received the product in the mail. After looking up the company, the only way to contact them is through email and when you send an email, you get a robotic email back and that’s all that you get back. So, it’s not something that I’m probably ever gonna see.

I liked that with Netspend, I didn't have to wait until the exact day my social security is deposited into my account. It's usually five days early. I went with them but then now, the only way I can reload my card is by going to H-E-B. There should be more options if I wanted to take an amount of dollars and deposit it from one account to my Netspend.
I have six different accounts and if I wanted to take money from my stock account and transfer it to my Netspend, I want to be able to do that through an automatic transfer. Still, I would recommend Netspend to my friends. I have also recommended it to my brother who didn't believe that he would get social security deposits five days early until he tried it and it happened. Because I never use it they sent me another card and they won’t assist me on hooking it up because it still goes into my old account and I just get emails that are the same random emails. No assistance at all. Not to mention, the fees are absolutely ridiculously high for using your own money! Seriously I’d use Chime (had that card 3 years... never a problem!! Cash app etc... They are associated with PayPal too which has ridiculous fees too. I’d use only If it’s vital that you have to have a card.. They do send cards quick.

Hello my name is David and I'm from Portland, Oregon. My problem started about 3 weeks ago now, and it all began when my cell phone bill was due and due to the coronavirus my mobile carrier has no locations open so they tell you if you don't have a debit card to go purchase a prepaid card from the store to pay your bill online. I proceeded to the nearest convenient store which happened to be a 7/11 where they have a few different prepaid cards to pick from and boy I wish I knew then the horrible experience I was about to get myself into in the following weeks after.
I grabbed a NetSpend Prepaid card off the shelf and took it to the counter and told the clerk, "I would like to put $80.00 on this card sir" and he rang me up, and if I'm not mistaken the total came up to approximately $82.95. So $2.95 to put $80.00 in this card so I can get mine and my girlfriend's phone bill paid since she is on my account also. I go out to my car and go online to the website where the card directs you to to activate your card so you can begin to use it, and I do absolutely everything that was asked of me only for it to tell me "Something went wrong" and I will have to talk to someone in their customer care department.
Ok so a little irritated I call 1-866-387-7363 where I'm greeted by an automated message telling me that due to the coronavirus they're experiencing I high volume of calls and to please make use of their website or call back later and hangs up on me.... Oh and I forgot to say the message also said something about they know how valuable my time is to...? Ok so I'm a pretty level headed guy, patient and understanding, they probably are getting bombarded with call after call about people's stimulus checks right.
Well going on 3 weeks now I still haven't got anyone to answer my probably 50 to 60 phone calls I have made to them, staying on hold up to 2 and a half hours on more than one occasion. I am really just at a loss for words at this point. How can this even happen, your message says you're open regular business hours 8 am to 6pm or whatever it says, is there anyone really answering phones there or from there homes?? I understand the crisis and all but come on this is ridiculous. So anyone ever need to get a prepaid card DO NOT PICK NETSPEND!! Go with Green Dot or anyone else for that matter.. Thank you and be safe everyone....

This was one of the worst companies I've ever had to work with. I bought 3 of these Netspend Debit Visa cards so that I could load them with money for my kids. The package said activation was simple and I figured they would be a good way to give them money to spend. However, after I got home with them and reading the fine print, these cards are absolutely RIDICULOUS! The charges to do anything are completely absurd and to use this as anything other than a convenient way to pay a couple large bills would be an incredibly moronic way to waste money. Each purchase they will steal $1-2 and if you don't use your card for a while, they will charge you $6!
I figured I would go ahead and activate the cards and use the money on them in as few purchases as possible in order to reduce my losses, but the activation process was infinitely more difficult than the packaging promised. I went to the website to activate, but little do they tell you that you CANNOT activate without talking to an actual person, who happens to be people from India who have terribly thick accents and a very limited ability to understand English. After a wait time of about an hour, I found myself spelling almost every simple word or name repeatedly, and being put on hold several more times during the call.
After I had finally given the agent far more information than I'd feel comfortable giving someone I actually trust, he returns from a hold to tell me that I had to now send him copies of my photo ID, social security card and a recent utility bill with my current address. So then I had to call back and waste another hour on hold and another 30 minutes completing activation. When he finishes, he tells me that the activation was only for one of the cards, and I'd have to activate the other two separately, IF I would even be able. He sounded unsure if I could even activate more than one card in my name, and he said my minor children couldn't use their credentials either. But I can't "potentially" get my refund until I activate them....
At this point I couldn't be more done with this process and have repeatedly thought about throwing the stupid things away, but can't convince myself to waste all that money that I had to pre-load onto the cards. I completely despise this company and will certainly never again consider one of their products, or their parent corporations products; TSYS.

Last month, somebody, somehow, got the last four numbers of my card. They told NetSpend, “I’m Steve ** and I lost my card. Send me another one.” Then a card ending in ** was used. $658 was taken out at three different locations. No one knows my PIN number, not even my fiancé. I’ve never given out my wallet or my card. I have complete proof that it wasn’t me, but it took NetSpend 30 days to reimburse me.
Unfortunately, a couple of days ago, I found even more that I missed. Someone went to the Chase Bank and took out $300 at 11:02 AM. Then at 11:04 AM, they took out another 300. I didn’t even know that I had a credit limit that big. Then they took out another 100. Then they went to Target and got 200. They bought something and it was $216. They used ATM machines at Safeway. I visited CVS Pharmacy and it was only $32, so I know that was an in-house purchase. We got them on camera and followed their pattern and every single place they went to. Every time they took out money, they did a balance inquiry, which cost me 50 cents.
NetSpend is gonna cover all that. However, I’m still a renter right now and it killed me right before rent. My other bank, Wells Fargo, would call me up and go, “This isn’t like your spending pattern. Are you okay?” Not NetSpend. They just go, “Let him keep spending money. Look at all the money he’s spending. He’s taking cash out and not buying too many things.” Talk about a red flag and the biggest red flag happened last month. I even did the mobile alert, but it didn’t signal me. NetSpend allowing this to happen is just mind-boggling.
When I emailed them, they said that they have my information and gave me my claim number. Last time, I called, it was a cluster. They said that they'd get me over to the fraud department, but they never called back. The fraud department guy said they'd reimburse me and put $20 into my bank. And that $20 didn’t even go when he said it would. It still took them two weeks to put 20 dollars in. They should be calling me, going all over the issue, and working as a team. They should also have police reports.

I ordered takeout because we are on lockdown. My stimulus check Is supposed to go to this account too. I have no way to pay my bills or access my money. It’s not fraud when you make the transaction. I verified all of my information correctly and the transaction amount. They still said it’s fraud and couldn’t discuss the rest of the details with me. I’m left without any money to live. This is unreal! I can’t believe this is happening right now. I have no way to take care of my family.

You have an another account opened for me that I never requested. My only account that I set up with y’all is locked for no reason. Many others have had the same thing happen to them. I’ve reached out by email, Facebook, Twitter, and attempted to call y’all. No one can get through with the automated system no matter what options we choose. My paycheck hasn’t gone into my account because of this and neither has my stimulus payment. Why can’t we reach anyone? Why did this happen? Y’all are posting on Twitter and Facebook but won’t answer us? If I had known that y’all were gonna lock my account, I would’ve used a different account for my stimulus money. I will be closing my account with y’all after I get my paycheck and stimulus money. It’s a shame because we’ve had y’all for over 4 years. You could at least address what’s going on instead of keeping ya in the dark. Very unprofessional.

They said "They found no error in the investigation" which is a lie cause if they had called and verified any documentation sent in they would know well. Yesterday I get a text my stimulus hit literally a few hours later that morning to be exact all that was taken not only that a security company keeps trying to charge me and I’ve asked netspend to remove them they didn’t do. They charged my account as well.
This is ridiculous. If this dispute is not properly investigated as the other was not I just want the whole account canceled because netspend is not right. I was out shopping after finally receiving my stimulus check, which was very much needed since I was one of the ones close to a month ago to be laid off due to the pandemic. I made one purchase and used an ATM, next at Walmart where I was getting my kids Easter Stuff, I was in the check out line and they locked my account??? I stood there in line for an hour on hold just to get hung up on. So, I go home and call and after 3 more hours of hold time, they tell me I need to e-mail them certain documents to prove my identity which I did.
A DAY later I get an e-mail saying they couldn't see the corners, so I do it again. 6 hours later I get an e-mail saying a PA DOT change of address card is not good enough for proof of address. So I e-mail them my Medicaid letter, which they told me on the phone would work. 13 hours later I get a call and they say, we have approved your documents and we will text you to let you know your account is active. Two minutes later I receive an e-mail stating they are not accepting my Medicaid letter as proof of address.
So I email them two more proofs of address and 2 hours later they tell me the items they just told me to send are not gonna work either. Now I've been on hold for 4 more hours and hung up on 5 times waiting for them to approve my paystub and if they don't do that, they are obviously trying to steal my money or cause my family to go hungry so I will be contacting my Attorney. This is not how you run a business and definitely not the type of customer service that cares about their customers.

I only had 56.00 in my account. After 40.00 in overdraft fees my account was 152.00 overdrawn. In the middle of a pandemic. I called customer service and explained the issue. I was told that they would dispute the charges as soon as it actually posted to my account, at this point it was authorization like when you use your card at the pump.
I explained that I had my card and it had not been used in another town and certainly not for 178.00 in gas. My car holds 15.00 tops. Then the CSR tells me that it will take 45 - 90 to get the dispute settled and if it was in my favor the 56.00 would be credited. What does that mean? 3 months? I need my money now. And if I hadn't been able to stop my direct deposit I would be out 178.00 plus the 40.00 in fees that they would perhaps permanently. It has been such a hassle getting a paper check and having to go out to cash it. I buy groceries online for delivery so I don't get sick.
I explained all this in numerous phone calls. I have the all access card that states 0 liability. The charge should have never been authorized without the card being present in the first place. I am thankful they were only able to steal 56.00 from me. Netspend has a fee for everything. They fee you to death but it's such a hassle to change over all my ACH payments I was willing to pay them. Until they suddenly became shady. Beware of losing your money to this company.
