    Well, from what I have experience it's a very good debit card. I have my direct Deposit going to this card and I haven't had any problem with receiving it. One complaint that I must share is the Fees that the company charges. If you wanna load there's a fee. When you wanna withdraw there is a fee for that. If you withdraw more than $300 there is a a fee for each dollar after. But I must say their overdraft fee is worth the $15. I just wish they wouldn't deactivated because of too much use but I see it we are paying the fee why can't we use the overdraft as much as we want when our deposit is gonna cover it??

    I love the Netspend card. My daughter is a student at Texas State in San Marcos and we are always sending money to her for living expenses, books and other things. Before using Netspend we were charged by our previous bank if there were too many money transfers within a month and also there may be a delay in the transfer. Netspend never charges and it is automatically available to her. I recommended the Netspend to my mother who now uses it and she is able to transfer money to my sister who lives in another city or my daughter. It is just so convenient and I receive a text message for every purchase or deposit so I am always aware of account activity. Thank you Netspend.     I have been a netspend customer about 3 years. Anytime you have to dispute something, it takes months to resolve. Most banks give you a provisional credit, netspend will make you wait 2 months to get your money which isn't fair. I have over 2400.00 going to this account per month, you would think I would get more help. Customer service sucks!

    Well when I first started with netspend, things were at bit under pressure, but as the months passed I stayed as a client. And the benefits are the best ever faster than any other card. I don't like the limit of atm's withdrawals. I feel that for the lenght of time I've been a card holder as a premier member I feel that I should have more benefits, than what I do have. And I feel that the overdraft that I do have should be more than $100.00, it should be $200.00, when as a member my income stays increasing up and higher, my income now is direct deposit $961.40 & netspend gets my money before I do, so by me having more than enough money to protect me on overdraft, I feel that the overdraft should be granted to $200.00. And I have no money rewards. Other than that I'm a little more happy with netspend plus I got two accounts with them.

    First, I don't have enough space to say all the "Good things" about this NETSPEND company. Great Customer service, never had a problem with the card, have had problems with merchants. But Netspend was but a phone call away. Now if they reported to the Credit Bureau and did Company names on the card.. I think I'd be in heaven, I'd switch everything to them. To be able to transfer funds to friends, to be able to pay bills, to be able to see and read a simple online website statement, to be able to get Phone Messages of the card has just been used, all these things are Great.

    It's been fun with Clerks at the Counter after I use the Netspend card, I'd say "I think my phone is going to ring" the Clerk would say "you don't know when your phone is going to ring" and then it would, I laugh and say you can get one of these too to help protect your credit, and show them my Picture on the Netspend card. They say I think I'm going to look into that... :-) Thanks Netspend, you're the greatest....

    I have been a customer for over 4 years and netspend continues to improve. With my netspend card I receive my payroll deposit two business days earlier than I would with a normal checking bank account. It is awesome! I also love the mobile alerts and how fast I get them after charging my card. My overdraft fee is half of what I would pay with a normal checking account. It allows me to overdraft up to a $100 which is just enough to get by when needed and not too overwhelming in paying back. I have over $500 being deposited so I pay a monthly fee of $5 to enjoy all of these wonderful features. I wish there was no charge to have the cards personalized with photos if preferred, but way to go to offer that as well! Cool card and even cooler company!!!

    I've been with NetSpend for about 6 months now, and I've been very satisfied with the company. They provide you a bank account and routing number right on your account website so you can set up direct deposit. And for someone who doesn't have a checking account, that's extremely helpful. I've had to talk to customer service only twice, but both times they took care of my issue. For instance, a hotel was holding an "incidental charge" on my card two weeks after I had checked out! I called the hotel, but to no avail. All the hotel did was give me the run-around. So I decided to call NetSpend, and within 10 minutes of my conversation, my money was released back onto my card because of the guy from NetSpend. I've recommended them to my friends, and will continue to. NetSpend has been nothing but a positive experience. =)

    I LOVE my Netspend card!!! It has saved me on many occasions. My deposits ALWAYS come 1-2 days before they are scheduled to and because of this there were times when I needed food for me and my children and I was able to take care of it because of this Netspend benefit. They have a $10 cushion that comes in handy should you need a little extra cash to tide you over until your deposit comes through.

    I cannot say enough good things about their customer service. Most financial institutions are in business to make money and could care less about their clientele. Not Netspend! They have found a unique balance to make money and STILL care for the customer!!! It is really sad that I don't even want to return to a traditional bank ever since I have banked with Netspend. But because I will reach multimillionaire status one day soon, unfortunately this is what I am going to have to do. As long as they are doing what they are doing I'm not going anywhere!!!

    Usually when I call customer service, I will get a representative that will handle my needs which makes me very happy, but just the other day I spoke with one and she continued to speak using the script. She would not honor my request to refund the overdraft after I explain the situation as to why I felt it should be replaced. I told her that I was going to hang up the phone because I felt the call escalating and she was monotone and not listening, the money would have been on my acct on time if your system was working right, and because my check did not get on the acct within 2 days before payday and it was mid day before it was placed on my card. She said that I would not be receiving a refund. I also had a credit added back to my acct that made it where I did not owe over $10.00 on my acct., in the end I only owed $9.68. I was always told the customer is right and it was not like I was trying to rob you, but I felt like I was robbed, especially during these hard times.

    I would like to be able to do an atm withdrawal of 500.00 each transaction. I do agree and understand why having a limit of at least 500.00 a day withdrawal is to protect the cardholder in case of lost or stolen card. At this time I'm only able to withdraw 200.00 at a time which is costing me an ATM fee from netspend and the ATM carrier I'm using for each transaction. Other than that issue I'm very happy with my prepaid card and I've recommended the card to other people in the past.

    I have always been able to call and check my balance and if I had any questions about any kind of a pay out on my card, Net Spend has always went above and beyond to make sure that what was taken from my Net Spend card was correct and if not then they always made sure we found out who and why it had been done and they always make sure that it is correct with me before I would end the call to them on any question that concerns my money on my Net Spend card.     I got this card so that my parents can have a way to help me financially. I opened the account with $500, the same day I was able to use the card, since my parents wanted to help me more I added another $1000. I was able to take out the same day $320, after that NOTHING, it says that my card was disabled. After talking to them for over an hour on the phone they kept saying that they need my actual Social Security card. I told them that I don't have it with me and that I don't think that a Debit card company that "supposedly" doesn't access my credit records shouldn't ask me for my Social Security.

    I've been in the US for 12 years already, I have opened bank accounts, opened numerous credit cards, leased and financed cars and NEVER have I been asked for my ACTUAL social security card. I have a meeting with a lawyer next week to do something about this, I am willing to give them a copy of my ID, my passport and my utility bill to prove that is me, but they are saying that only with the Social Security card. Is that legal? Is it legal for them to disable my card and my account because of that? Isn't this supposed to be a card that I put MY money in so I can take it out later? Please I need help because I am really getting worried, specially after seeing SO MANY Horrible complaints about this company. I want my $ 678 back and I promise I will never use them again, if that is what they want.

    I have been with NetSpend for a couple of years now and love that I get my paycheck early and have had no problems. Until I started getting fraudulent charges on my account, over and over. It makes me believe that the reps are giving away your information! Anyways, this time, I has now been over 10 business days, no one can give me status of my dispute even though we have rightfully won a dispute against this merchant before (why do they allow these merchants to keep charging my account again after the fact?!).

    You cannot talk to anyone in the dispute department, they don't call you back, you only get generic emails and when this is someone's livelihood and I am trusting you with all of my income-that is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! I got an email at 2 a.m. this morning that it could take months! PEOPLE, DO NOT DEPOSIT YOUR TAX RETURNS ON THESE CARDS AND STOP YOUR DIRECT DEPOSIT! UNACCEPTABLE!

    I have been a member of NetSpend for 5 years. When I first opened my direct deposit account I would receive my direct deposit on Wednesday afternoon by 2 p.m. On occasions before a holiday I receive my direct deposit on Tuesday by 2 p.m. After a couple of years I started receiving my direct deposit on Wednesday at 10 p.m. This lasted for a little over a year and now recently this year I have started receiving my direct deposits on Thursday early AM. My dispute is why does my direct deposit times keep changing. My company processes payroll at the same time each week so I do not understand why my direct deposit schedule keeps changing. It is becoming very inconsistent and has begun to interfere with my ability to pay bills on a consistent schedule or on time.

    I've been a customer with netSpend for over 6 years. I have my payroll direct deposited onto the card. I recently called to have a stop payment made because a creditor that I no longer have service with keep requesting funds. Mind you I did this on two separate occasions. The last time which was January 3rd, the customer service rep released the funds back to my account and put a stop payment in effect. On January 15 I called to check my balance and was notified that I was in the negative. I was livid. Upon speaking with another customer service rep I was told that the company was still able to collect the funds even though there were no funds available. I asked to speak with a supervisor and upon talking to him, he hung up the phone. When I called back I wasn't able to talk to anyone. I'm going to go to a bank because this is just unfair treatment.

    I had paid my wife's insurance premium using my NetSpend card. My wife had an accident and totaled the vehicle. We canceled our insurance policy and they refunded our policy payments retroactively to the date of the accident. The insurance company sent 2 refunds to the card they had on record (NetSpend). One on Thursday and another on Friday. A day later my account was frozen without notice or explanation.

    When I called customer service (and I use that title very loosely because they're third world country customer service representatives are barely understandable) they told me that my account was frozen due to fraud activity. Insinuation that I committed some type of fraud. They also told me that I can have my insurance company take the money back and send me a check. This would release my other funds I have available on the card. So, I called my insurance company and they told me there is no way to cancel a refund once it has gone through and accepted. They also told me that the card company can reverse the transaction on their end. But NetSpend reps claimed they are not able to do that, which is a blatant lie. I have a merchant account and I know first hand that transaction can be reversed by the bank or the merchant.

    The rep asked that I send them proof of the transaction. I immediately complied and sent them documentation from the insurance company. This was on Saturday afternoon. They told me once they receive the documents it may take up to 8 hours to unfreeze my account and release my money. I printed out the documentation from my insurance company. I faxed the paperwork over to the number they provided me with. I received confirmation that the documents were received. In addition, I also emailed the same documents to the email address they provided me with. All emails were confirmed received.

    There was never any response from them that night. I called on Sunday and asked for a Supervisor. The phone rep avoided getting a supervisor by stalling and putting me on hold for 15 minutes. They did the same on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I have been placed on hold for upwards of 40 minutes. The company's customer service tactics are proof that this is a criminal organization who intentionally refuses to help their customers and attempts to defraud them of their money. Unfortunately, I have given up after spending so much time trying to rectify this matter and have gotten nowhere with these people.

    I now believe the money has been stolen and I am forced to take legal action against NetSpend and Meta Bank. In addition, I will be filing a criminal complaint with the New York State Attorney Generals office as well as the Office of the Comptroller of Currency. After reading about so many customers who have been robbed by this company I have come to the conclusion that the defrauded customers should file a class action law suit against these criminals.

    I have been a customer for approximately 7 years and in all it has been pretty good until recently. Apparently there was fraudulent activity on my account so Netspend put a block on it which is fine but the hoops they make you jump through to unblock it is ridiculous. It is funny that I can get transferred 5 different times and answer all the security questions and verify address, date of birth and social security number every transfer but that is just not good enough to get my account unblocked. They required me to send in a copy of my Social Security card which first off was a pain because I didn't have my card anymore so I waited 3 weeks to get my new card and faxed it to the number given. At this time I was told it may only take an hour to get it unblocked.

    The next day it was still blocked so I called in and was the told that I also need to send in my driver's license to unblock it and this could take up to 48hrs. I asked if there was a way I can expedite that and was told that if I send it to an email address instead it would only take 8hrs to get it resolved.... Now the following day.... I called to make sure that they received the documents and was told that there was no way to tell. I am supposed to wait for their call or email to proceed with the next step and I shouldn't call again.

    This has been going on for 2 months now. I have almost $600 in there and have already had one direct deposit returned to my employer. They are holding my money hostage and still charging me $9.99 a month even though I can't access my account. I need my money and they need to resolve this immediately. I have never been so frustrated with a bank before. Every time I call I get a different person with a different story. How can they operate like this? FIX THIS NETSPEND!

    I previously had the experience with Netspend where a gas station had mistakenly double charged my account twice and was IMMEDIATELY (before I even walked out of the store) contacted by someone from Netspend about the questionable activity. I was so pleased that someone at Netspend was watching out for me!! However, on 1-10-2014 I woke up to an empty bank account and while I had been asleep someone was globetrotting with my card number. I IMMEDIATELY called Netspend and tried to file a dispute. I was told to call Tokyo, Nigeria, France, and Canada to dispute the charges with the vendors!!! Netspend told me that I would have to wait until the charges posted and that they probably wouldn't even post.

    GUESS WHAT?! They did, one by one clearing my account. The cyber criminals have stolen the money I needed to pay my electric bill. The first 3 posted on 1-12-2014 and I emailed their dispute department to begin the process. I have also attempted to file a police report but Netspend is unable to even provide me with something saying that I called to dispute the charges let alone an affidavit!! Today 2 more charges posted. Although I had cancelled my card on 1-10-2014 when the activity hit my account I was told that the transactions would still go through should the vendor try to collect.

    The police officer standing in my living room while I was speaking to a supervisor with Netspend was in total shock to hear him say "we can't give you anything in writing to say that you are disputing these transactions b/c the amount in question is less than $300." As a mother with 2 young children and at 7.5 months pregnant $100 stolen from me is a HUGE DEAL!! Especially when that money was meant for my electric bill that's due on 1-20-2014!!

    I called today after sending in the additional written dispute letter to confirm that it's at least in process and once again was told that IF (yes you read right, IF) the transactions made simultaneously around the world are proven to be fraudulent, Netspend will return the money into my account. I won't know anything until at least 1-27-2014 and if the merchants who collected reply to the dispute and say "yes, she was here in Tokyo, France, Canada, and Nigeria at the same instant" then I have to wait an addition 30 days while Netspend conducts further investigation.

    Adding insult to injury is the fact that I continue to be treated as if I'm the one trying to defraud Netspend!! I've been a Netspend customer for over 7 years. I've highly recommended them to so many people. NEVER AGAIN!!! I've been stolen from and the dolts at their customer service department continue to act as though I'm lying and trying to take money from them personally!!!

    I've NEVER been so disgusted with a company and thank God that I have an alternative bank account. Unfortunately for me, I used my Netspend card to pay my bills and had been depositing money into my Netspend account over the years specifically to pay automatic bills which now leaves me in a bind b/c I don't have money in my alternate checking account to pay my electric bill. Thank you Netspend for training your people to lack compassion, empathy, and how to simply read a script that makes us the victim feel like the criminals. I have little faith that my money will be restored after the woman I spoke to today told me to "hope for the best" after repeatedly telling me she understood my frustration BUT the transactions were authorized with my pin # (how in the hell can I use my pin on 4 different continents AT THE SAME TIME!!!!???).

    I signed up for a Netspend account last week 1/9/2014 and loaded $700.00 onto the card which showed up immediately. I go today to the same location to load an additional $120 and the funds have yet to be posted. I was instructed by Netspend to contact Western Union and cancel the transition and resend it and once I contacted Western Union I was given a sequence number that is given by Netspend to Western Union every time the funds have been accepted. I sent the funds at 7:40 and they were accepted according to Western Union records immediately but Netspend says otherwise.

    I am so confused as to how I am supposed to request a refund from Western Union when they gave me reference number to prove Netspend has my money and Netspend claims they don't. How do you file a dispute for a refund from either company if neither one claims to have my funds? I have highly disappointed with this being I just got the card last week. This is ridiculous and something has to be done in the future for clients to better help them.

    I was with NetSpend for 4 years and had a portion of my funds sent via direct deposit biweekly. Recently I went to the ATM and did a withdrawal for $100.00, the account was debited but the funds weren't released. I contacted NetSpend and thought I would be given a provisional credit like any normal bank pending investigation (sent over all required documentation) but instead was given the run around. Mind you, last month alone, I deposited over $9700.00 into their account and at least $6000.00 monthly. After this happened, I immediately changed my direct deposit information and went with a "reputable"bank.

    I need my money back but I'm more fearful for what could have happened if it was more money or worse what if I were on vacation and the ATM had an issue. I see this as a hundred dollar lesson. Thank god I wasn't scammed for more. I'm now sending all funds through Harris Bank. After reading some of the.stories below I got off lucky.

    ANGRY- PART 1

    My partner wanted to add me to her account recently after speaking to the representative Soni [ I'm not sure how she spells it), she stated she would have to speak with me to verify my identification and relay some pertinent information. After speaking with her, she told me "I had a block or hold on my account and that she would have to email the risk management department who would then have 6 to 8 hours to remove it". She continued to say that "once the block is removed your deposit will go through and you have 7 days to pay the amount owed on the card, or any future deposits will stop". I agreed with her statement and I waited the 6 to 8 hours. I received no callback, or any information that my deposit was released, but, what we did receive, the next morning was another text message stating the same thing as the previous one did.

    I had a deposit and there was a block on the account. I immediately called then only to be met with a RUDE male customer service agent who was more concerned with the information he was relaying versus the reason for my call. I asked to speak with his supervisor.....he left me on hold and I waited again for 40 more minutes. At that point, I concluded he was not going to return to the call. I hung up.

    At this point I was angry, I called back only to speak with another customer service rep who told me the first thing Soni did. I asked to speak with her supervisor and she transferred me. I relayed the information to her and she instructed me to send in my D.L., S.S., and a utility bill with a reference number and to fax it to 512-532-8333. I did that and I waited the 6 to 8 hours.

    I didn't hear anything again, I called again and spoke with a male supervisor who told me that the information I was given was false and to fax my information to another number 1-866-358-0526 and I had to wait the 6 to 8 hours. I told him that I was absolutely not going to wait another day nor another hour and to get me to someone who could assist me properly. He then relayed "the only way I was going to receive any deposit was to pay the amount owed and then they could release my deposit". I told him,that, that is not what I was told, and that I could not or would not pay any money before I received my deposit because that would be the only money I had to pay the amount owed anyway. I was angry and pissed I hung up and made arrangements so that my deposit would go elsewhere.

    PISSED-PART 2

    So at this point I am done with Ace and netspend and everything else they have to offer. So this morning my partner receives a text from ace saying "YOU RECEIVED A DEPOSIT FOR THE AMOUNT OF WHATEVER AND THERE IS A HOLD ON YOUR ACCOUNT!!!!!!!"     I just received my social check on my Netspend card today 12/30/13 and not even an hour later my money was gone off my card. Someone used my card and took all of my money.     Unauthorized transactions about $900.00 taken from my account on Dec. 13, 2013. Found out they were international unauthorized transactions. I have sent a statement, police report and additional information that I tried to find out where the money was taken from (country). Have emailed, called and been refused to speak with a supervisor. It's been 10 days, no response. As we all know, any amount of money nowadays that you don't have is a hardship. This money suppose to go to my daughter's college books and housing payment. Guess they don't care or respect to at least follow up to let me know what is going on. Been a customer since 2008. Disappointed and very upset that they won't acknowledge.

    My son received a $100.00 netSpend card for Christmas from his grandmother. Imagine his surprise when he was asked to give his social security # in order to activate the card. I think this is complete bs. My 90 year old grandmother bought this for him. She spent the 4.99 activation fee plus the 100.00 so why should anyone have to give their social security number?!! I was recently informed that my own bank card was compromised due to the recent Target fiasco on Black Friday weekend. I'm so fearful of being scammed that I have applied for a new bank card and account. I have always taught my son to not give his information to anyone so now he has a $100.00 card/gift he cannot spend and my grandmother is out 100.00. Please don't begin to give me bs about the Patriot Act. I didn't sign for it nor do I agree to it. This is a simple Christmas gift and a kid should be able to activate his card without giving your organization information that is none of your business. We will make sure to tell everyone we know to avoid your company and its cards as you are obviously crooks.

    I have been a netSpend customer for 2 years now and have become a victim of identity theft. My paycheck was deposited and not even 24 hrs later my account has been sent into negative status by someone in Texas. Mind you I'm in Florida and have never stepped foot in Texas nor do I know anyone there. My card is still in my possession yet my pin was changed and I'm left without my money. I've filed a dispute claim and faxed a dispute form today although I was informed by netSpend customer service no such form existed. They say I must wait to hear something within 10 days. I really hope since the fax number was in Texas that I will hear from someone in the states because the off shore call center reps don't seem very knowledgeable in serious matters such as this. Merry Christmas to me, way to go Target with your credit card security breach.

    Emailed this company after I had trouble setting up the prepaid card I requested. I am not a US citizen so their site offers I.D. verification via passport #. Didn't work. I emailed customer service whom instructed me to fax them copies of my ID which I did and was assured that my card would be ready for use within 8 hrs. Never happened. Emailed them numerous times and called - no one answers. Disappointing company. I'm convinced they were scamming people.

    I called in to get my card number only. I gave the rep all the information she asked for, except the year I activated the card. She said to call back with the year. I called back. The next rep CANCELLED my card after I told him I didn't want the card cancelled. This set off a day of frustration and getting the run around and left a very important bill unpaid. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! They charge you for everything and the call center is located in the Philippines and their English is NOT VERY GOOD!

    My fiance got this card to get direct deposited from payroll. His friend also had it and said it arrived Fridayish and it never came. We didn't think much of it till Saturday and Sunday came and went. We were a bit worried but Monday was the day he could usually get his check from work. So he checked his account and nothing. He went to payroll at work to be informed that they had his pay stub but no check. He asked if they had sent it to netSpend. Yes they did. He called the bank that sent the check and they said to call netSpend, so he did nothing.

    When he got home, he called again and was on the phone for two hours to find out that they had no record of any check trying to be sent. So now we can't buy essential things for our 10 month old daughter like diapers and wipes and food. I just hope we can get it resolved before we have to ask our family for money.

    I have Netspend for well over 2 years and for the most part it's great. However I recently opened a second Netspend card through ACE because it supposedly had more benefits than one through HEB and that's when the trouble started. I signed up for direct deposit with my new account AND because I only have the temporary card I don't have access to $900 (my check)! I called and sent them my proof of residence to get it released but I won't know for another 6-8 hours if it even worked and if it doesn't they will send the money back to my employer! Originally, they were going to make me wait 24 hours to answer security questions. I know they said it's for my protection but that money is my electricity, my food and withholding it from me just to get a copy of my license (that I already showed them to open the account) is awful.

    I have been using Netspend off and on for a long time... and I absolutely love the card! I've never had any issues with it and if I did... they were minor and customer service resolved it right away. I get my paychecks direct deposited on it as well as my tax refunds. They have an overdraft protection program as well as a savings account and accidental death benefits! I have tried other cards in the past and keep going back to Netspend because I didn't like them. It costs $4.95 a month to keep it open as well as $2.50 for ATM withdrawals.

    The debit/credit purchases are unlimited and quite frankly I don't mind paying the small monthly fee and ATM fee especially where I swipe my card more than anything. It's easy to reload with money and the savings account definitely helps because I can't hold onto money for the life of me. It burns a hole in my pocket as my parents used to say lol and with this card I actually do save. The website is easy to navigate around and keep track of where your money goes... especially with the anytime alerts too. I love it and wouldn't trade it for the world.

    I closed my account with Netspend about 1.5 weeks ago due to their Shady business practices. I called Netspend today (12/10/2013) to ask how I could get access to my online statements because I need to verify payments that was made to a creditor. I was told, "Okay, that's fine" and my password was reset. Well, when I tried to log in, I received an error message stating "There is a problem with this account". So I called back and got another representative who told me because I closed my account, I could not have access to my statements. Now keep in mind that Netspend has never sent me out paper statements, everything has always been online. I was not advised before I closed the account that I needed to obtain my statements before closing the account.

    I asked to speak to a Supervisor and the representative flat out refused to transfer my call to a supervisor. So I asked, "There is no way that you will give me my statements" and the representative advised me that he could not. I have never heard of such. You can always call and get statements from other creditors. It has not even been a month since I closed the account. I am so sick of Netspend and their shady tactics which is why I closed the account. I will be filing complaints with the BBB and whoever else that I can file a complaint with. They will not get away with this. I am entitled to my statements.

    I'm have owned a NetSpend card for two years and have been happy with it. However, over two weeks ago on November 14, 2013 I attempted to withdraw money from an ATM machine. The machine shut down yet my card was debited. Easy enough to fix right? Wrong! After filing a dispute, I am being assured I will have my money by January 6, 2014. Really? In what universe is money not dispensed yet debited and conversely not returned? I need my money back, now! I am a teacher. $300 is a lot of money.

    I have called over a dozen times and can not get past the computer telling me in order for me to speak with someone, I have to accept their terms. News flash: apparently, I don't agree with your terms that is why I need to speak with someone about a refund. I purchased this card for my daughter. I had to pay the fee for the card and I had to put 20 dollars on it. When I went home, my daughter tried to activate it. She was told that she had to put in her social. Well, she was then told she was a minor and couldn't do it. OK. I spoke with a lady that told me I can use mines as I told her I already have a real credit card, I don't need a prepaid card. I just wanted my daughter to be able to go to the mall after a long drawn out convo. I was told that she would make the funds available, I would just be out of the money I paid for the card. I just said fine.

    I went to the store and guess what, the funds are not available. In fact, it says it hasn't been activated. I tried calling back, no answer but the computer that insist I agree to the terms. Now why would I do that? I don't agree. Here is the thing. It's the only thing you can do; otherwise, it hangs up on you. So you want me to bind myself in an agreement that I don't agree with just to speak with an operator. Sounds like fraud to me. The good news is I have a prepaid card for my daughter through Walmart. I pray that the fake responses on here saying how great they are, that people will see through it. Seems like people in the company posted those ratings, how they called and they was able to speak with an operator and so forth. Maybe my phone just rings funny or maybe the computer doesn't pick up on me pressing buttons. This company is garbage. I would still like my MONEY BACK!! And at least 1 response to my email complaints!

    I disputed a transaction on September 6th, 2013 for auto body repairs that were not performed after I paid the total PC. The dispute was 2094.00, not something that I care to hand out freely. After I provided Netspend with photos clearly showing my vehicle before going into the shop and after picking my car up, I was advised I had to wait for further investigation by VISA. The photos clearly showed the tire and rim damage on the left side prior to taking my vehicle to the merchant and then after picking up my car, the damaged tire and rim is on the left. I have submitted estimates for repairs needed that I was charged for already. The corporate office called requesting assistance as customer service didn't touch the dispute.

    Advised me I had to wait til the deadline was up on Nov 25 and on the 26th the funds would be available if the merchant did not repair the shocks properly or refund my money. Neither has happened and I have continued to pay $400 a month car payment that has sat in my drive due to the safety concerns. I have a disabled son along with 5 other children and no vehicle after a non fault accident that left it almost totaled. I am now told they are doing everything to assist and know it's frustrating. No frustrating is no longer the description of my emotions. I will now proceed with legal action with an attorney and any other agency that I legally can. Netspend is a thief who takes money and is a LIAR!!! I will not stop until my rightfully earned money is back in my pocket! NOT IN A THIEF'S HANDS NOT ACCOUNT. YOU CAN REST ASSURED YOU WON'T EVER SEE ANOTHER CENT OF WHAT I EARNED.

    I bought a NetSpend card at Cash Express in Bowling Green, KY so I can have my SSI checks automatically transferred to that. I’ve had it for about 5 years and I’ve been very happy with it.     I get government check once a week and for a while was doing it by cash and was fine doing it by cash until I decided to put it in through deposit. It happened in 2009. That time I just got my computer and I wanted to order and the only way I could order things was with a debit card. So I went to the cashier and decided to put money in the Netspend card. Any problems or issues I have, I call them and they’d be on the phone and they talk to me nicely and respectfully. But there was some problem that I was having before and the problem was that every year when I get my new disability check, sometimes, it would be taking $100 or $200. And I ask what's going on and when I look at my statement I don't know who it was from and I don't give them permission and sometimes they don’t fix the problem. So Netspend is a good debit card company but I doubt that they would help you with any problem you’ll have.

    On November 19, 2013, I received a text message from NetSpend asking me to call. I called and the rep told me my account was being closed, with a balance of approx. $1690.00 in it. To my surprise no one would tell me why and the next big surprise was they were mailing my money to an address I haven't lived in for over 3 years and after speaking to 4 reps, even more surprising, they refused to update my address and said the check would be at my old address within 20 days. I repeatedly ask for the phone number to Meta Bank which they refused to provide me but I went online and was able to get it. Today, I filed a police report and OMG was I shocked to find out that NetSpend has done this to thousands of people... GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK, I WILL NOT STOP UNTIL I GET IT BACK!!!

    A friend of mine told me about Netspend and I was told if you need to build up your credit all you have to do is buy a NetSpend card and it helps you build up your credit and that’s why I decided to buy one. I have been using their reload locations to transfer money to my account and the whole thing has been an awesome experience. Using my Netspendcard has helped me in terms of managing my finances and the CS reps were pretty courteous whenever I talked to them.

    I filed a dispute on 11/15/13. I made an atm withdrawal and the money didn't dispense. I did this twice. Nothing came out. I leave and I get an alert on my phone saying that the money was taken out of my account. I call NETSPEND and they tell me since it has already posted to my account that the bank can refund me. WRONG. I fax the proper evidence including the bank number, address and my receipts... I get the WRONG fax number. I email it... they gave me the WRONG email address!!!

    I call today to check on my dispute and they tell me it takes up to 10 business days and that they are waiting to hear back from MASTERCARD regarding my claim! WRONG!!! MASTERCARD has nothing to do with my claim! How do I know this? Because I called MasterCard!!! They are giving me the run around and it's despicable so many people from one company telling you different things every time you call! I will do everything in my power to assure that I don't wait 2-4 months for my money to be deposited like so many others! Get your business together! Train your customer service!!!

    On November 18, 2013, I contacted Netspend in regards to a payment that they had declined to my cable provider. I asked the representative why was the payment declined, even though I had the money still sitting in the account. The representative put me on hold for a few minutes, then came back on the phone and made this statement. "Ms. ** your payment was declined because you tried to pay a bill through your checking account that does not have your name on it." I asked the representative where on the website or terms and conditions was the verbiage contained. The representative kept stating that it is Netspend's policy and that they were sorry, and continued to keep saying that they were sorry.

    Although I appreciate the empathy, it doesn't sit well with me when you don't have a clear definition on where the policy is. I asked the representative 3 times. Did they understand the question that I asked and to be clear when they responded as the phone calls are supposed to be recorded. All of a sudden the representative stated that he could barely hear me. This agitated me severely because I asked the same question 3 times in 3 different ways. The representative who clearly told me that he could not hear me, kept going in circles when he answered the questions. NOTE: If you're going to tell the consumer that you can't hear them, then you SHOULD NOT answer the question that is asked of you.

    I asked for the call to be escalated to a Manager because the representative that I was speaking to was a Supervisor. The representative told me he was the supervisor and that "Managers" were in a meeting and that they had been in there for some time. I understood that, but I asked a question as to "Are all the Managers in your entire organization in the same meeting?" The representative stated that he could escalate my call to a manager and they would return my call after they got out of their meeting. All of this to go through when the representatives every time you call in. They either don't understand what the issue is and sound like they are reading a script (they get frazzled when you take them from reading the already scripted answer), or they leave information out when explaining the cause & effect of an issue.

    A Manager did finally call me back and stated that the verbiage for making vendor payments by check (ACH Debit) was under the direct deposit policy. I have enclosed a jpeg of Netspend's Direct Deposit information from their website. It CLEARLY!!!!!!!! Does not say that I cannot pay a bill for someone else using my checking account with them. Even though 3 representatives stated that it did. Because the vendor does not take credit/debit card payments (which I told all of the representatives), my account has been shut off and I am subject to paying re-connection fees of $30 per service!!!!! Even though the money was in the account and continued to be in the account after the payment was declined. All of got from Netspend was that they were sorry and that they were following the rules in regards to ACH payments. AGAIN......the information is NOT on the website for consumers to view. It took over 30 minutes of call time for no resolution. This is a Horrible way to gain consumers trust when it comes to customer service and them knowing the products they offer, what the guidelines are, and answering in a consistent way so that everyone that calls in with this issue will get the same answer.

    On Sept. 21, 2013, I was admitted into the hospital. I had a heart attack, and had to have surgery. I was in the hospital until Oct. 28, 2013. Someone started using my debit card on Sept. 22. When I returned home, I couldn't find my NetSpend card. So I called NetSpend to report it. I also realized I had over $1300 missing from my account. I filed a dispute of the unauthorized charges and was told I had to wait for 10 days for a reply. After the 10 business days, I received an email from NetSpend saying I was aware of the unauthorized charges made on the day after I had a heart attack. Which is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in my life. I sent NetSpend my papers from the hospital. Stating when and why I was in the hospital for over a month. However, they still denied my claim. I have continued to call but now they tell me they can't talk to me about my claim, now that I have made a complaint against them to the Better Business Bureau. I just want my money back.

    I needed a direct deposit, and Netspend is easier because the bank was charging so much. With my direct deposit it’s just $5 a month, unlimited. At first I was upset because I had found out my direct deposits were like over 500 every 2 weeks so I had about over 2,000 going in a month, and when I first started they charged me $47 for all the transactions that I was making. I fixed it but they couldn’t reimburse me for the money. But they’ve been very helpful at times when I’ve gone to withdraw. It was a good experience.

    It’s convenient. My direct deposit shows up when it’s supposed to and I never have a problem with it. I had a problem with my card having been run through a skimmer when I was up here the past summer visiting and I contacted them.     I bought an item on eBay for $139. I used my netSpend debit which I have linked to PayPal. The purchase went through ok. The eBay seller contacted me to say they were flooded and were refunding my purchase. They did and PayPal credited netSpend $139 immediately. I wanted to order a similar item, though $60 more for $200 (I already had $167 on my netSpend card). NetSpend would not let me buy what I wanted because netSpend needs up to 5 business days to refund back into my account. IF netSpend credited my $139 back immediately add to the $167 I already had on it, would have given me a $300 balance, more than enough to pay for the $200 item. No, netSpend is forcing me to wait 5 days to buy what I want even though my money is already in netSpend's hands. Wake up; this is 2013, not 1970. Refunds should be just like payments, immediately. Had I known this, I would have never chosen netSpend.

    On October 31st, the most unfortunate thing has happened with my ATM/Check Card with netSpend. Before I go on, my husband and I were and will possibly continue to be very happy with our netSpend account, which is shared among us with 2- separate cards. We have been using netSpend for several years primarily for his employment direct deposit, which allows me access to our funds when he is working out of town. If we have had any incidents, they have been promptly resolved with our satisfaction. However, more recently the claim filed on October 31st, 2013 for 12-approved ATM-withdrawals from Wallington, United Kingdom - GB / GBR are shocking, nevertheless are obviously fraud.

    We have been told our account will be noted for provisional credit eligibility in 10-days from October 31st. Today has been the 10-days, and now we are being told to submit a letter of dispute including all the transactions, additionally with their descriptions of which netSpend already have in their system. 1st in far most, the transactions are obviously fraud-as I stated to them, my card has never left my sight, neither has my pin# been disclosed to anyone. In fact, netSpend allowed for the criminals to change pin#, thus far I didn't have access upon this crime taking place. This is a huge disservice, to delay this fraud claim for another 10-days, in which could have been avoided by netSpend protecting our account from withdrawals done from Abroad in another country when we reside in Reno Nevada.

    I have been with netspend since 2009. Today I tried logging into my account to find that it was blocked so I called in and found out that my account had been blocked due to a direct deposit for me which is in my maiden name. But I have two accounts with them one with my married name and the other my maiden name. So around 12 noon today the Rep told me to email a copy of my marriage certificate to them and in 8 hours they would release my direct deposit. So I did so. I called back at 8:30 pm and another Rep told me that my direct deposit will be going back to the sender because it's in my maiden name regardless of the proof that it is me and it doesn't matter if I have two accounts or not. I'm so angry cause now my car note is due tomorrow and it will shut down until I get my funds which will take over a week so I'm not able to take my kids to school and will have to pay a late fee because of the hassles and dishonest of netspend. So I will be taking my business elsewhere including my family.

    I recently wrote a review a little while back I made a dispute about a unauthorized purchase. I was satisfied with how they resolved the problem but now I have my new card I tried to make a withdrawal at an atm machine but it declined my transaction. But then I receive a message to my phone saying the money was withdrew. Now I have to file another dispute and wait another 10 business for them to hopefully resolve this problem.     I first heard about NetSpend over a different employer. They had it and referred me to it. It makes it easier to get my finances earlier which was the initial reason for me to sign up. Initially, my interactions with NetSpend were a lot more difficult. But the more time that I’ve been a cardholder, it’s actually gotten a lot easier. I’ve been with them almost a year, and for about the last 8 to 10 months, I’ve had no issues whatsoever. They did great.

    I never did use the reload, but I do know someone who has and it wasn’t terribly difficult for them. So if it was the option, I don’t think it would be the most difficult. I do look into the direct deposit first. I have recommended it to friends and I’m going to continue because I would like to get that $20. Overall, I would describe it as a beneficial experience for anyone who knows how to utilize the system.

    I was cashing my check and they promoted NetSpend - that’s when I first heard it. I’ve been having them for 5 years now. My plan is alright. The only thing that I don’t like about NetSpend is the way the fees work… they take your money out… If you have to use an ATM machine, you have to pay $2 plus the ATM fee. That kind of gets me but it’s still okay because otherwise, you go into the store to do it... Then you get it all for free.

    My interactions with NetSpend were okay. I really don’t have no complaints. They’re good. Because one time, the lady had double charged me on my card and then I had tried to go back to get her to give it back to me. She gave me all this red tape and I was like, “I don’t have to even be with you. I can just call the card.” And I ended up calling my card and it spoke with Ms. **, and they ended up putting the money right back on.

    NetSpend is the company I’ve used for my direct deposits for my checks. I used to do ACE Check Cashing back in the days. I’ve been with NetSpend for about 4 or 5 years. The team has been courteous and answered my questions. The only thing is I can’t get an overdraft protection no more. I had to get another card. I got 3 or 4 cards but I have one card where my checks go to.

    I have been a furloughed government employee since July of this year 2013... So I have not been able to make a deposit until recently went back to work. My first check was to be deposited yesterday and it never happened. Now I would have been okay keeping the holiday in mind. However all of my co-workers from multiple financial institutions were paid. I called customer service. I got the usual "it will post when we receive it" spiel, and my account was okay for deposit. I just went to the FAQ page and by the terms of that my deposit may not even be made because of no activity for the last 90 days (I had no income). What makes this painful - I'm a single mother of four who may or may not get paid but I don't think the CSRs can tell me for sure.

    I used my NetSpend card which I have had for years and receive my direct dep. on it weekly. I used my card to book a room through Hotwire. When me and my daughter arrived at the hotel it was a dump. It had broken beds, mold on the ac unit. The entrance door did not lock to our room. They put a king size frame to hold our full size mattress so I fell getting up at night to use the restroom over the over sized frame. The two chairs in our room, the center of the seat was broke so you would fall to the floor. I complained to the hotel. They did not care.

    I called Hotwire and asked them how they rated this hotel a three and a half star. They told me leave. I explained I did not have another two hundred dollars on my card to book another room as they said credits take up to five business days. I asked if they could put me and my daughter up at a decent hotel because I was afraid for our safety. I took several pictures. Told them I would send them. They said “you purchased the room and if you stay too bad for you.” I called NetSpend. Filed a dispute ASAP. I am getting the run around. Now I sent them all the pictures to prove my case. They clearly show we stayed at a dump, unsafe, dirty, unhealthy crap hole.

    When I spoke with NetSpend they made me feel like this would be resolved quickly but five weeks later I have nothing, just more bs lies when I call. My pictures proved everything. I even had a video of the entire room. Just wanna say thanks for being so prompt NetSpend and caring about your long time customer NOT!!!! Also don't use Hotwire. It’s a mystery when you book a room you get the name after they take your cash. So between the hotel, Hotwire and NetSpend you are all ignorant and useless. Thanks.

I faxed them all the information requested and was suppose to receive provisional credit within 10 business days; however was denied. They stated my charges were authorized! Are you kidding?     On August 28th, I tried to make a withdrawal at 7-11 Vcom ATM machine for 300 at 6:37 and screen flashed then went back to main menu. I checked my balance and it was still the same. A minute later at 6:38, I tried 300 again and it gave me 100, 200 short. I immediately called Vcom. I spoke with a rep there and he showed 2 transactions. The first transaction showed a debit then an immediate credit back for 300. That was fine. The 2nd transaction shows the security tray in machine pulled back 200 and dispensed a 100, which is true. He stated to contact my card company and have them file a dispute. He sags should be no problem.

    Now I call Netspend and explain everything I stated above. The dispute department says in 10 days I'll have an update. I get the update and they say issue resolved, but it wasn't. It stated that the 300 dollars was credited back. I thoroughly explained that my dispute is with 2nd 300 transaction. I even faxed in ATM receipt that they asked for. I call back and explain again with one rep who keeps arguing with me. I now ask for a supervisor. I'm put on hold for 20 minutes then I'm transferred back to their customer service line. I don't know what else to do so with next representative, I put in ANOTHER dispute with same timeframe. I'm very upset. I call Vcom back to make sure everything is still correct. They verify yes and he was showing funds had been released beck to Netspend. He states that they just need to release to me.

    TODAY, I get an email from Netspend asking me to send a written letter describing everything and it needs to be hand signed. Really? I'm just now being asked this on October 29th? 2 months later... 2nd dispute on same issue? I need to send additional info? I faxed you receipt first time that you received. Also, email states if I can contact merchant about refund which I did. This has gone on over 2 months for something. If they call Vcom and talk to them, they get the answer in 2 minutes like I did. I don't know if this is laziness or bad management and customer service, but I'm beyond angry. All Netspend has to do is call Vcom with date (8/28) time (6:38) and sequence number and address of ATM which I supplied. Can someone please help? I can supply the emails between Netspend and I as well.

    I have been with Netspend since 2012. Up until now, I loved it.. Today, I was a victim of fraud which the agent helped that happen. I got paid today and an hour later, I've seen that my balance was 500 less. I went to my app and seen a account to account for Joseph **. When I called them, the agent was like the person verified my info which was my social and address. That is all. Anybody can get that info. So I am just trying to warn everyone, block the option to transfer from acct to acct. Because I am a very careful person, so if it happens to me, it can happen to anyone. I did file a dispute and it will take 10 days. So I pray my bills won't be disconnected and my child will be able to eat until then.

    I could not be more satisfied with the ease of having your Netspend card. My direct deposits from work arrive an entire day ahead of my co-workers' pay.     I lost my card on 10/28 and was told that my new card could take up to 10 business days to come in the mail. After the 10 business days, I called and asked the whereabouts of my new debit card. Turns out it was never ordered and I again had to wait almost 10 business days for that new card.     I think NetSpend is one of the worst prepaid cards out there. I had a problem with my direct deposit and had to call numerous times and still did not get the issue resolved. Another problem is that when you call, you are connected with someone from a third world country who can hardly speak English. I had to keep explaining my problem over and over. They kept telling me it would be resolved, to just check back in 5 hours. After being told this three times by three different people, the problem still was never resolved. I wouldn't even recommend this card to my worst enemy!

    I've accidentally lost my Netspend card during a dorm move. When I received a new card in the mail at my new address, Netspend had made it quite difficult to activate my card. I receive S.S.I. monthly benefits and had already given the account and routing information to SSA, so it is imperative that my Netspend card is activated in a timely manner. Instead, the customer service rep requested I send a copy of my utility bill and driver's license with matching address when I don't pay utility bills and I have a driver's license from another state. Why so difficult?

    I have been a customer of Netspend since 2004. I have always been happy with the way my account has been handled (except when I had to call customer service). Lately, it has turned into a nightmare. 10/9, my direct deposit was sent on Wednesday... funds in my account the following day. 10/17, my direct deposit was sent. I bought groceries on 10/19 which put my account into overdraft. "To avoid a $15.00 Overdraft Protection Service Fee for this transaction, please reload ($40.88) by 10/20 at 08:35 AM CD." I send several e-mails trying to find out where my money was. "Oh, we don't make deposits on the weekend." Guess when my funds finally showed up? SUNDAY, after the grace period has passed.

    I am trying to figure out why a deposit shows up the next day one week, and then all of the sudden it takes 3 days. (I think they're holding funds to collect extra fees.) Last week, they tried to charge me an overdraft fee because it was a few minutes last being posted to my account. I managed to get that charge reversed, but I feel scammed and don't have any way to prove what they are doing.

    Do not go to NetSpend. This is a bogus bank that charges fees on all transactions. This company is not loyal to customers and the customer service sucks. I filed a dispute that they have been giving me bad information about plus now they refuse to give me a provisional credit and are saying that it will take 2 to 4 months to return my money. They do not honor what they tell customers. It went from 10 days to 2-4 months. I have never known a bank to take that long in securing a dispute for their customers!! You have been warned... they will charge you for everything but when it comes to filing a dispute, they suck!! Do not trust them with your money!!

    I love that I get my paycheck 2 days early and it only costs $5 a month. They also over an extra $10 over your balance/overdraft protection, and unlimited free purchase transactions. I DON'T like that there's a charge to check your balance by phone, there's a charge to withdraw over $300 at once at an ACE location, and that there are NO free ATMs. Anywhere. And they charge $2.50 to use someone else's ATM, on top of whatever the ATM owner charges.

    I have seen my NetSpend card grow from an online prepaid card, many years ago, to that of being a major credit card. I can trust my biggest deposit of my social security check into NetSpend without having any worries. I can receive any information into my text messaging. There isn't anything that Netspend can't do as compared to any Major Credit card company. I am proud when I have to use my NetSpend card.

    I love that NetSpend prepaid card allows me to receive my paycheck once it's available in my account. I love the rewards incentive, and the fact that I could decorate my own card. Also the monthly charges are fair.

    I had gotten the Netspend card for one reason only, to pay my monthly Insurance premiums since the company required auto pay setup. I noticed a day after my deposit to cover my premiums, the day the insurance was supposed to be deducted, that I had an unauthorized Purchase listed. I immediately called Netspend and reported the issues, cancelled the card, ordered a new one. I expressly informed Netspend that I only use my card for one Transaction a month and they could look at multiple past months and see the only transaction listed was exactly the same each month. I expected them to reimburse my account so my auto pay for premiums would not be denied.

    What a Joke. Nothing happened. I am disabled so it's not like I can just get extra cash easily. I had to call Netspend 3 more times to figure out what was the hold up then got told that the transaction was authorized. I said, "No, I told you the day after the initial transaction was posted it was unauthorized." Still they argued with me telling me they could not do anything since it was an authorized transaction. ** are they (Netspend **)? They would not tell me what the supposed merchandise was that even though I multiple times said was unauthorized, they claim was authorized and they could not do anything about it.

    Finally, they got tired of me complaining and pointing out the many recordings I had of the phone calls showing I always stated from day 1 was unauthorized and they came up with this ** line that they received documentation from (Thin Air I guess) saying my transaction was authorized yet when I demanded they send me a copy of this so called documentation, they could not do so. It would be one thing if this transaction was say $10-20 or was from say extra money I had but no, this was over $100 and caused me all sorts of problems with my health insurance company. I would not recommend Netspend to anyone as your money is not any safer than leaving it on a convertible's car seat in downtown LA with the top down. Will never use them again and hope others do not find themselves in the same situation.

    This is a great card. My children both have cards and it has really helped. My daughter who lives out of town was out of gas one day and I only had $20 and because you can transfer free online. I was able to transfer the $20 without additional fees. She had the unlimited fee with her card so she was able to get $20 gas instantly without me having to leave work or pay transfer fees.

    Best yet she was able to transfer the repayment back when she got paid. We use it for online, direct deposit and bill pay. I have a bank account but use this as alternative with internet and transfer. Great customer service when a charge was wrong. Finally, you can use to budget your money so my husband using one card just for medications and gas. Love the card; best one over all!

    I found that if I was a member of a large bank they didn't know or care about me or my family. I needed to control the movement of my funds with some corporation’s big beefy hand in it. I can still direct deposit my pay checks and there is one flat fee. This way I can only blame myself if there is an error, and if I'm controlling the account there are no errors.
