    I have been a NetSpend customer for as long as I can remember somewhere around 10 years probably more and I highly recommend it to all of my friends and family. I get my payroll direct deposit a day earlier than everyone else I work with, the interest on the savings account beats any bank or credit union, the customer service is fast and top notch. I love that I get a text message anytime I have a deposit or spend money, I honestly believe it would be very difficult for anyone to steal any of my money without me knowing instantly.     Ever since I joined the NetSpend community I have felt a sense of security with my money. I have given up on banks and tell everyone I meet about NetSpend. Every transaction I make is followed up with a message to my phone. I know immediately if my card had been used and not by me.     I am please with how credits are placed into the account along with my direct deposits. I am not pleased with the security of the card account.     This card by far is the best. I have had card before that have been difficult to use and don't offer enough options. As a single mother it gives me the added security I need to manage and save money. I also love the fact that I can use it to pay bills online and not worry about overdrafts and things of that matter because it comes straight off the card.     I've had NetSpend for years. It’s been a long time. I had a good experience because I let my daughter had it when she was very young, and she loved it because she could see everything on her cell phone, she could go back on the computer and look at everything. Everything is saved on the computer for a long period of time. Over years, it doesn't wipe out, because if we find something that we didn't pay for, we go back on the computer and find it. I like the direct deposit; it’s wonderful. My daughter loves the direct deposit. They’re very efficient, right on point on time when it comes to alerts. It’s a big help and you can transfer money from one card to another and in minutes. It won’t take long, my daughter can be in Florida, I can be in Glen Burnie, and it’s like she’s next door. I love the service. It’s really good for young people to start out that don’t know about credit cards. My daughter heard this when she was 11 and she knows how to spend money a whole lot better.

    I've had NetSpend for years. When they first came out, we were going to Arkansas and we were at an Ace Cashing place and I was scared going out of state putting money in the card. I was afraid it wouldn't work or anything but I never had a problem with it. Then my husband and I both retired and we had our cards, direct deposit. I love it. I have no problems with it except getting the right people on the phone. It takes a while and you have to press this and that. My daughter uses it too.

    So I did some reading around before activating my card, and I decided to move forward with the activation. I loaded $40 initially, and to my surprise the $20 was credited instantly. I expected it to take the typical 5 or so business days - but it popped right up! As of 3/1/2014, I can verify I have been able to use my card. I saw another user complain about gas authorization, but this is normal especially with PREPAID cards! Normally they pre-auth for $100, so IMO the $55 pre-auth is a good deal especially with a prepaid card. If you'd like to earn your free $20, you can use my REFERRAL (not promo!) code of **. So far I haven't had any issues with this card, plus it's always good to have one to use for your XBOX Live, GameFly, Hulu, Netflix, etc. trials so they don't go grabbing after your actual bank!

    I and my mother received these cards so that I could get money to her in TX when I live in VA. Had no problems until this security thing this month. You are asked to go online and change your password for security. So we did on both cards. Then without any notice I went to transfer money to her from my card and I am told to contact customer service. So I contacted them and I was told there is a block on both of our cards for security. I ask for them to lift it. I was told would take 2 hours to be lifted. OK!!! I waited 2 hours, mine was lifted, hers was not. So I called back, was given the run around (was told that is 2 business hours today is Saturday meaning Monday).

    My mother is in Walmart at pharmacy trying to get her insulin and card had been declined. So I told her to walk around for a few hours (the 2 hrs we were told). Then I am told it will be another hour after I went off on the phone. I asked to be transferred to management, never happened. I am so pissed off at these people. There is no reason a security update should be like this and take so long. I hate this card and this company!!!! No one ever contacted us by phone, email, text or letter letting us know about this block until we went to use it then all of this ** happens.

    In January 2014, I filed my taxes with Turbo Tax as I do every year. Unlike past years, I did not have my debit card with me at the time of filing so I opted to have a Netspend card sent to me. After my taxes were submitted and accepted, I patiently sat and waited for this card to arrive. About two weeks later, I received an email that said the card was cancelled to call the Netspend Corp. I called and an error on my behalf, the card was not shipped. After correcting the problem, the customer service representative assured me a new card would be issued. The representative on the other line of the phone told me my card would be expedited to me, I also had them ship it to my job to ensure I would get the card. I was told by a "supervisor" the card would reach me in 2-4 business days, by Wednesday.

    After checking the mail at my job on Wednesday and NOT receiving my card, I again called Netspend. The representative told me this card was not sent because I gave an incorrect address. How is this incorrect if it is my job, and I ok'd the card to be sent here? The representative told me they would have to issue another card, a THIRD card... I was told this card would be expedited to my home due to the error on their behalf. Friday came, and the card appeared at my job. I called to activate the card and was getting an error so I opted to speak to a representative! After being told this card was never ordered, I received the card in the mail but the card was already deactivated because "I gave an incorrect address." So they assured me by the next week (another 2-4 business days) I would have the correct card.

    I waited once again for a card which will never come. After this card was not received, I called AGAIN and asked for a supervisor. This person told me they can transfer $1000.00 onto the Netspend card I had from the previous year. I was told to call back the next day after the same time I called, and they can issue another $2500.00. I was told after that, I should have my permanent card. Here it is March 1st, 2014 and I am STILL WAITING FOR MY CARD. This company is the biggest joke and rip off I have ever encountered in my life... FOR YOUR SAKE, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY FROM NETSPEND! ALL YOU WILL RECEIVE FROM THIS COMPANY IS A HEADACHE AND A GREAT DEAL OF FRUSTRATION!!!

    I ordered some clothing from Torridon February 14th. A payment posted to them February 19th. The hold is still on my account from February 14th and it is now 14 day later! I have had a car from Torrid fax 3 request to release the funds and I have called customer service at 3 times a day for a week, they actually told me I didn't need to call anymore. I have an emergency and the funds are desperately needed. I used to work for a bank I understand about holds but I have never heard of letting a pre-authorization from a department store that's already been paid sit on an account for over 2 weeks! I feel like an idiot every time I have called Torrid who has been extremely nice to me! Never again will I use NetSpend ever!

    I've had NetSpend for over 10 years and I just called to renew my card, get a new card. Because my old card had cracked a little bit and before it break all the way... They've changed so much of their stuff and the things that they were offering I didn’t have it on my old card, so can’t decide with that complication when I asked for a new card. But when I talked to them about it they say "well you need to get an updated card." Anyway, my experience with them is fine except that I was getting charged for everything I do and every time I used the card, but they have another program going on now that automatically takes $5 off your card and you get a chance to just use it and not worry about taking money off every time you use it. They have an overdraft protection thing going on too. I heard about that through my daughter.

    I recommended my son get a Netspend card for his refund when I did his 2013 tax return for him using TurboTax. We used my e-mail address for communication regarding his refund and also for his Netspend account because his computer is broken. He received his card in the mail and went out to make several purchases, one of them being for gas at a Chevron station. After making this purchase I received this e-mail from Netspend: "When paying for gas at the pump there is a minimum advance hold of $55 placed by the pump. The difference is released within 7 days." My son was charged $120 for a $20 gas purchase and now has to wait 7 days to get the excess refunded to his card. How can this even remotely be legal? We are outraged!

    I decided to receive my Tax Return on a Net Spend pre-paid card. My taxes were filed, approved, and I received email confirmation from Net Spend that my card was being mailed to me and that if I did not receive it within ten business days to contact Net Spend. I did not receive the card and I contacted Net Spend to report that I had not received the card and to order a new one. The Customer Service representative verified my mailing address and informed me that a new card would be mailed to me within 4 business days.

    Sixteen days later, after not receiving the new card I called back Net Spend, it took 24 hours to be able to speak with a customer service representative. The representative again verified my information and address, acknowledged that she accessed the "notes" of my previous call on February 11th, but that no follow-up action had ever been taken. At this point I requested that my tax return be directly deposited into my bank account and that I wanted no further services from Net Spend. The representative informed me that Net Spend does not have the ability to transfer my tax return that is in a Net Spend account into my personal bank account. I find that quite hard to believe.

    I was informed that a new card would be sent to me within 2-4 business days. The first Net Spend card was "mailed" to me on January 18, 2014, but never arrived. As of today, February 27th, I have not received my Tax Return or a Net Spend card to access my Tax Return. I very strongly discourage anyone from using Net Spend.

I pay for this little service where they inform me whenever anyone deducts or takes out money and no matter where I am, it lets me know through my cell phone which I always have with me. I've been using it a long time and I learned of them from the company where I receive my retirement check. One time, my cable bill was deducted twice and I was able to find out they had done that and I was able to get my money back. So it’s a good thing.

    The NetSpend website has been down for over two weeks. I'm ready to move my direct deposit somewhere else. I've been with NetSpend since 2005 and I don't want to leave, but I MUST have online access to my account. Messing with the automated phone line takes too long. Talking to a customer service rep is even worse, because you can barely understand what any of them are saying. (Phones probably not answered in the U.S) I called customer service and they said that NetSpend is going through a "system upgrade". Whatever. It's been OVER TWO WEEKS. Shutting down your website during tax season is an excellent way to tick people off and send them to your competitors. GET THE WEBSITE BACK UP TODAY INCLUDING THE MOBILE SITE. I need to see what's going on with my money. I'll give it another week, then I'm canceling my direct deposit until NetSpend can get their act together.

    I have been a Netspend user for over 2 years. I actually recommended a few others to sign up for this card, but now I am completely dissatisfied and embarrassed. My 1st year I haven't had any issues but in the last 8 months, I have had unauthorized charges appear on my card. I have had to dispute the charges and have the funds returned but this is the 3rd time and at this point I am sick of.

    The charges that are showing up are not even in the state I live in, 3 transactions this morning for a " American Second Harvest", out of CHicago IL, I have no idea where that would have come from. Now my card is overdrafted $99.61!!! I am pissed off to no return no more chances Netspend. Then I try and call and the call volume is high.

    And they ask you to leave a call back number and they call you back but it just beeps and hangs up and after 3 attempts to reach you it says try us again, I am fed up at this point.     We have sent in every document they request to prove address, identity, w2s, ssa receipt of ordering our stolen ssa card... Turbotax said, "yes receipt is acceptable b/c we know it takes 14 days for ss card." Their documents DEPARTMENT HAS DECLINED EVERYTHING! Send in 12 documents at least with addy and w2s with entire ss # and papers w/ last four digits. I'm payee for wife and kids disability...that's not good enough for them. The IRS has already issued my refund to my card.They refuse to activate it. Who to contact? Help help it's a ** rip off. Never ever ever use them....Lost home now, wife prego with cachexia critical…prego w/ kid # 6. Who gives them the right to hold the money I loan the IRS all dang year?! Respond asap... If I sue do I do it in my state or where? Can IRS stop payment because it's fraud and let me refile?

    What I like about netspend is that I can see my expenses in text form. I’m actually able to see what the balance is. And they've been extremely helpful. They have this fraud protection program where they will argue on your behalf. If there’s any arbitration to be involved such as in cases of fraud, netspend seem to go to bat for you (some cards won't do this for you). Even if it’s in the United States or a foreign country, they’ll dispute it. As long as you have documentation to back it up, usually it gets corrected and falls to your side. I had a couple incidents where someone used my card to buy a plane ticket and it came up in text form. The airline company was refusing to reimburse the money. Netspend got involved with arbitration and several months later the money came back to me.

    It's been an okay experience with NetSpend except for the fees. You pay the cost of the ATM and then another $2.50 on top of that. The only other thing I didn't like was I had a hard time transferring a card. I've been with them for a lot of years and I had to call so I could make a change of address to my new address and had to send all kinds of proof of my residency... and it didn't even work. I had to get really upset and it was a hassle. I could understand their being strict because of all the fraud that goes on but I never got my new card and I don't know if they even changed my address because I never get anything in the mail.

    I was originally very pleased with the speed and ease with which I received my netSpend card. Like most of the others on this site, I used TurboTax and chose this quick method for getting my refund. All was well until I was standing in Target with $230 worth of merchandise, the evening before a giant snowstorm was about to hit. Long story short my card was declined. Upon calling customer service, I was told there was a block placed on my card. For my protection. Super. But why? No one could tell me. After the RIDICULOUS request to email my SOCIAL SECURITY CARD, along with other documents to prove that I am indeed who I say I am and that the money is indeed mine.... My card was said to be unblocked and able to be used immediately.

    Well here I am. Still unable to use my card. I've spoken to at least 10 different people. None of which speak the best English (not trying to be a ** about it). I've been on hold with the fraud department for 47 minutes and counting because everyone I've talked to says my card should be working fine... Except it's not. I will NEVER use this company or any of its affiliates again, nor will I suggest it to friends. I am disgusted with the customer service and communication.

    I received this card with my Ohio State refund on it from turbo tax, because for some reason I couldn't do direct deposit. It said netspend was the fastest way to get my money. I received the card in a timely manner and it had my funds on it. I took the card to my local bank to ask for a cash advance of the $520 that was on the card to deposit into my account. The transaction was declined and I received a receipt from the bank saying it was void. The transaction has been pending in my account now for over two weeks.

    Every time I call netspend I get someone who does not understand or speak English. When I tell them what is going on they ask for the documents from the bank. I tell them each time I had sent over the receipt from my transaction over a week ago. Where is the organization? How can a business run this way? I contacted netspend customer service via email and addressed my concerns. I got a response saying that there never was any authorizations from my bank in that amount. Huh? That's not true I can see it as soon as I log in to my account. It's going on a month now and I have had no resolve and my money is still hung up. I don't know what the big hold up is.

    I wish they would better educate their employees on customer service and how to do their job rather than place me on hold for 20-30 minutes telling me to wait more days. How much longer do I have to wait? I also was reading over the schedule of fees and all costs are outrageous. They even nickel and dime you when you make a call in to customer service. I will be making a complaint to turbo tax and warning everyone I know not to ever take this route. I should have waited 4-6 weeks longer for a paper check. You can't go wrong that way.

    I got this card through TurboTax and consequently, my tax refund was deposited on this credit card. I used my Netspend visa card for the first time on 2/12/14 at WellsFargo. I went into Wells Fargo to do a cash advance for the entire amount. However, because I wasn't an account holder with Wells Fargo, they would only approve a $1,000. I withdrew the $1,000 and went on about my business, only to discover that Wells Fargo debited my account for the full amount (entire refund) but reversed the transaction the same day.

    However, I learned via a Netspend CS reps (new story every day) that I had to ask Wells Fargo to send documents saying why the reverse took place! I was assured that once receiving the documents, it would only take 6-8 hours to refund the money. The documents were sent on 2/14/14 and on 2/20/14 I still don't have the money. I have had Wells Fargo fax the documents over two or three times and every time I call to see if they received the documents, they say "another" department is working on it and they have not made any notes on the account yet. They say it could take up to 10 days to review the doc. and keep telling me to resend the doc.

    Please tell me why Netspend needs to: 1. have documentation for a reversed transaction that only a bank can issue?? Does Netsped believe the bank messed up? If so, why am I paying for it with a horrible inconvenience? I am currently unemployed and do not have any income. This unacceptable wait time, unacceptable request for documentation on a reverse transaction and no assurance on when/if I will receive my money, has me on edge. I really need my money to pay my bills and eat.

    I filed my taxes 2-4-2014. I was told i'll get a card within 7-10 business days. Needless to say, it never showed up. I called 3 days in a row, was told all sorts of things. First was it will be here tomorrow, but never showed up. Called back again. They told me again it will be here tomorrow, still it never showed up. Called back 2-20-2014. They told me that the address wasn't correct on file (which is not true because I received a letter in the mail) and that they would ups a new card and it would be here today 2-23-2013.

    I called them back because I received an email saying it was reported stolen. I never reported my card stolen. Well when I talked to them they had just processed my order but it has not been shipped. This is becoming bogus. I would like my money. They are now telling me I will not receive it till Tuesday which is 2-25-14. I will never use netspend again.

    NetSpend had a computer glitch that took place on Feb. 7th, 2014. I was not informed of this problem until AFTER I used my card at a rental car company on the 7th. My card was declined at the rental car counter, yet NetSpend stated that the transaction went through. Good thing I had another debit card to rent the car with money on it. However, NetSpend put a hold on my account for $227.00. The rental car agent explained the situation to NetSpend customer service, and the representative for NetSpend requested that information be faxed on their company (rental car) letter head to have the hold removed. The rental car agent agreed and begin faxing the required documents.

    This was the weekend, and I was told by the NetSpend agent, the hold would be removed in 8 hours. To make my complaint short, it's now Feb. 21, 2014 and the "pending hold" has been on my account for $227.00 since Feb. 7th, 2014. After multiple calls, emails, long hold times, complaints, the hold is still on my account. I have been lied to so many times it's pitiful by the customer service representatives, supervisors and managers. This company is horrible. I have read so many horrific complaints, I wish we could all join together and close our accounts!!!!

    I was expecting my federal tax return to be deposited into my NetSpend prepaid account. Soon after it was deposited, NetSpend blocked access to my funds and required me to fax in identification, ss card, and proof of my address. I faxed it as requested. I was told it would take up to 48 hours to review. After 48 hours passed, there was still no access to my account and money. I called and was told that a message would be sent to the ID dept to for the status on the review and I would get a call back.

    It's been 7 days now and I still can't use my card or log into my account. No one has called be back and every time I call, I'm just told the same thing each time. According to the U.S. Patriot Act, aren't they supposed to verify my identity upon opening the account? Not wait until there's money deposited into it. NetBank Prepaid is issued through MetaBank. Based on my research, MetaBank has had a series of legal and ethical problems since 2004. You can find complaints about NetSpend and MetaBank deceptive practices all over the web. Just Google it!

    Here are other prepaid cards issued by MetaBank: PayPower Visa Prepaid, Control Prepaid, and Only 1 Visa Prepaid which also holds funds and is currently operating without a Money Transmitter License. It's great to complain online and make other's aware of NetSpend and MetaBank's negative practices, but if we want some action taken we need to file a complaint with its regulators.

I sent them my social security card, id and the document they sent me to prove I was at that address.     On Feb 17, 2014 I contacted netSpend to find out when my debit card would be coming because I was expecting my IRS refund very soon and I needed the card to access funds. I was informed by a customer service rep that a card was activated 2/14/17 and funds in the amount of 2699.84 was spent. I could not believe it. I received an email from netSpend on 2/13/14 stating that my card would be on its way. I know it takes 7-10 days to reach but I called to see if they rushed it being that I was getting my refund on. I was told that I can start a dispute, and to fax over a handwritten letter stating that I DID not occur said charges. I not only faxed a handwritten letter, I also faxed over proof that the IRS said my refund has not been sent and also the police report. I was told a new card would be mailed to me and that I should see a response from netSpend within 10 business days.

    This is very frustrating because I have to wait 10 business days to even find out if they will give me my money because someone stole it. I don't know much about this company but it seems that everyone on ripoffreport.com is right. This company does not protect against theft like they say and they take fees out from what I was told by the customer service agent once they do decide to give you back your money, $50 for every transaction over a certain amount. Once I receive my card I will not being doing business with netSpend again.

    Got this as vs a usual gift card. Gift-giver didn't want to restrict me to a single vendor, so opted for this instead, paying $5.95. Gift card cost? $0. The fees (profits for somebody out there) just compound from there. $2.50 to use as debit card (and lord knows there isn't a netSpend atm, so additional $3.00 from whichever bank... but that's not netSpend, so I won't count that). Then another $1.50 for using as a credit card. $0.50 for each transaction I ask about over the phone --- search online and it's free, but try to talk to the people and $0.50 for each request. Don't use it for a while? Get deducted another $5.95 after first 90 days, then every month after that.

    So for us... after initially being told upon trying to activate that our balance was $0 (they told us that it was NOT funded... we asked a couple times), we didn't think much about the card afterward. Then a family member who ALSO got a card told us about the inactivity fee, and the requirement you'd have to deactivate or to close. To make sure, we called to close... only to be told that our account WAS funded, and in the months after, we were docked $5.95 inactivity 3 times. So for example a $50 netSpend card... net cost $55.95 (including initial fee to purchase) and we net $32.15 after the 3 inactivity fees. Use the ATM once to cash it out, we net $29.65 (and that, assuming the bank atm charges NO FEE of their own). For one $50 'gift card', netSpend in this too real example, profits $26.30 (4x $5.95 + $2.50)... 53% return for them.

    Total and complete ripoff/scam, whatever you want to call. Clearly, the folks on the phone haven't much of a clue either. I have NO clue who this benefits, or who these things are designed for. A simple checking acct debit card, a simple little credit card or a gift card should take care of 99.999999% whatever this thing attempts to be. And then the whole 'refer a friend and get $20 buck referral bonus?' What is this... also a pyramid scheme too?

In it was a fancy looking NetSpend card (I think that it was a Master Card). So, I called and activated it, and began using it immediately. I get an SSI/disability check each month and my mother is my beneficiary so I would have my funds transferred to me each month by Western Union. One day I borrowed a bicycle and while I was riding it I got a flat tire.

    When I brought the bicycle back to the people that I had borrowed it from they said to me that I owed them $1,000.00 dollars for the bicycle, so I gave them my NetSpend card and told them that the pin# code was **, and that money would be being transferred to it soon. Then I decided to evade them. I evaded them for three (3) months. During this time I received another NetSpend card. This one I think that I remember was a Visa. Before I even got to activate it someone stole it and either activated it or tried to activate it and by the time that I was able to get in touch with customer service about it someone had managed to debit it $34.00 into the negative. My replacement card arrived with a negative $34.00 balance and I wasn't able to activate it.

    While I was evading the people that loaned me the bicycle and said that I owed them $1,000.00 I called NetSpend to reset the security on my card. The customer service operator that I was speaking to from NetSpend informed me that the card will debit indefinitely. If this is so I have never been able to take advantage of that and I was wondering if maybe there is some way that I can be able to take advantage of that, if it is a privilege and if so can I have that privilege re-instated. I was also wondering what is a MAX-LOAD lifestyle and can I take advantage of it, and if so, how does it work? I am continuously hearing from other people about something called the MAX-LOAD features, or lifestyles and was wondering what that might be.

    After three (3) months of running the people that I had borrowed the bicycle from and that were telling me that I owed them $1,000.00 caught up with me and physically, violently beat me up because they said that the card did not work with the pin# code ** and they then stole from me my new NetSpend Premier Master Card and all of my things including other NetSpend cards. They then threatened me not to cancel my cards or change the pin# codes. And then they threatened me to have money from my SSI/disability check to be sent to the cards. So I had hundreds of dollars sent to each of the cards that they had as well as gave them hundreds of dollars worth of my own personal cash money, and after I had given them about $1,800.00 they told me that I owed them $1,800.00 more dollars. So I called NetSpend and cancelled the cards and decided to evade them again.

    This time while evading them I met a woman that I fell deeply in love with and so I decided to continue to evade them and her and her son and I moved to the other (east) side of the island (O'ahu). The woman that I met and was in love with was pregnant and so after three months on the streets we moved to my hometown of Franklin, Louisiana so that she could have her baby and so that we could live comfortably in a home and not homeless on the streets. One day my girlfriend found a NetSpend All Access Master Card with my name on it still stuck to the delivery page but not in the envelope that it was shipped in. Someone else must have opened it. My girlfriend gave me the card and the literature that was with it and so I called and activated it.

    Over time I called Netspend and received a few more cards and so I called and opened my girlfriend an account on one of my NetSpend Visa cards. But her and I broke up so I called and blocked her usage to the account that I used to get her a card on. Now I have a NetSpend All Access Master Card, A NetSpend Premier Master Card, two NetSpend Visas, (one of which is the account that I had used to get a card for my girlfriend that I am going to cancel and re-order a NetSpend Master Card instead), and a NetSpend PayPal Visa card. I am very proud of my NetSpend cards and want to know what is the little Re-Load symbol on my cards and what does it mean? I wish that I had more money so that I could load and use my NetSpend cards more often.

    My 1st mistake was going to turbo tax to begin with because had I not, I wouldn't be in this never ending nightmare. 2nd mistake deciding to give netspend a try because since I don't have/or want a bank account my options were wait 6-8 weeks for a paper check or netspend. My truck plates & insurance is up for renewal Feb. 14, 2014 & because I was laid off from my work for a little over a month I'M now playing catch up on all my bills. Feb. 3 my card was mailed (that's what they said), wait time approx. 7-10 business days. I call to inquire about my card now they're not able to bring up my email address linked with my account. They just freaking sent me an email 5 min prior that the irs has sent my tax refund to them & they have it. They said "your card is on its way. Your money is safe." Really?? Well don't I feel so much better....not!!!

    Today I received a text & email saying that my card had been reported stolen, it was sent back to them, & access to my money was blocked. Hell no!! I was & still am freaking irate & highly pissed off. Now I have to yet again call these incompetent fools back for a 3rd day in a row. You're really gonna love what bs excuse they gave me for my card that I never received that was returned being reported stolen. They said that no one was there for it to be delivered. Wtf??? Are they freaking high?? Here's why I know this is a blatant lie & I am not buying the load of crap that they are selling. It's simple really.

    My fiance received a netspend card in our mailbox when no one was home last week when she didn't request 1. (She does surveys online & somehow those surveys linked her info to their company), guess what else??? She got another freaking one 2 days in the mail at our house that she never freaking requested. I'M usually a fairly reasonable person unless I know I'M being jacked around & lied to. Then I'M pissed as I am now. I'M not a damn fool. The incompetent fools I talked with today told me (1st one) "we will send you another card & instead of waiting 7-10 business days for you to get another 1, we'll have it to you in 4 days." I told him I wanted to speak with his supervisor & while waiting for his supervisor I receive another text & email stating that my state refund was now at netspend. (I have no problem admitting that I used profane language & was not nice to them. Hell if they had almost $9,000 of your money & knew you were being lied to & jacked around wouldn't you be pissed too).

    The next person gets on the phone & tells me how it was undeliverable & wouldn't listen to what I had to say. Said I would be getting another card in 2 days. Well crap which is it? 2 days? 4 days? I asked to speak to his supervisor. Then because they thought they were going to be funny they put me on hold for over a ** hour. Not cool. Cause all that DID was ** piss me off even more. You know the mail has options that allow for overnight, same day, or next day delivery. Were it my business I would've choose 1 of those options for the consumer of my services to try to rectify the situation. DID they? Nope. Will they? Nope. You know why?? Cuz they don't care about all of you consumers. You would think that a company that has had thousands of customer complaints & negative feedback that they would do what they COULD to fix this. I've seen complaints going as far back as 2010. You know what I'M going to do??? If I don't receive a call back or email from these people by tomorrow I'M filing a class action lawsuit against netspend because of the nightmare that their company has me going through & just because turbo tax is the reason why I & thousands of others have had these problems & added stress in their lives.

    I refuse to continue to allow these corporations to get away with screwing over the LIL people who were it not for the LIL people's $ they wouldn't be the big corporation that they are today. It's time they are held accountable for their actions. I'M emailing the bbb today & contacting every social media outlet & news corporations that's out there because this company who is scamming & screwing over consumers has to be stopped. Netspend you ** with the wrong consumer. Give me my ** card, my ** almost $9,000, & I will go away. Until then you will continue to hear from me & I will continue to be a thorn in your side as you have been in mine since Feb. 3, 2014!!!     This card has been great for me! From easily loading my tax refund, making money transfers, and my everyday purchases. I have had absolutely no issues w/ paying for gas, paying bills, purchases nothing. For someone who refused to carry cards I just love it! Only change I would ask for is ATM fees. At $2.50 each time plus the ATM's fee it can cost upwards of 5+ dollars each time. I don't take cash out often, and when I do I try to do cash back. Or if they can't lower the ATM fee maybe up the $325 transaction max. I needed to make a large purchase and before I was aware that they would take the card, had I taken money out I would have been charged close to $20 in ATM fees alone. Other than that, no complaints about the card and the customer service is GREAT!

    I have not had any problems with Netspend until recently. My first experience, my card was blocked due to the Target hack. I was sent a new card, but because I did not activate it within their timeframe the block was placed on my account. I contacted customer service, and was able to activate the new card and have the block removed. Today I received a text message at 7:34pm telling me there is an issue with my account and to contact customer service. I called and was on hold for over an hour. Once I spoke to the rep she told me she is unable to assist me and that the department I need to speak with closed 10:00pm. I told her, "Well it's 8:30pm so please get me to someone that can help me."

    She go on to tell me she is sorry that she meant 8:00pm. I ask to speak to a supervisor. The rep tell me, "Well he can't help you no more than me". WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCE. I was placed on hold for over 30 minutes to speak to the rudest supervisor I have ever encountered. Vic (supervisor) advised me that he cannot help me and he can have someone call me tomorrow. Vic was not able to tell me why the block was on my account. When I asked to speak to his superior or the Director of the call center he advised there was not one. I work at a call center and am very well aware of the processes of a call center. I ask to be transferred to the director's voicemail and he advised me they do not have voicemails! I guess he thought I was born yesterday.

    Why place a block on an account, provide a number to call for assistance and when you call you are not able to speak with anyone!!? I have the automated text alerts so in the case there was fraud on my account, I would be the first to notice an issue. Placing blocks on accounts for "security reasons" but not being able to assist the customer is like a slap in the face. Like many others on here I did have my tax refund deposited to my Netspend card, but I have had my card over a year so I don't understand the issue. I am VERY FRUSTRATED and plan to cancel my account with them as soon as my money is released.

    Received a text message that indicated: "There may be a problem with your card. Please call before using your card." Which in and of itself, is an absolute joke. What they meant to say was: "your card is suspended, you cannot log into our website, and we have your money."

    So I called, on my lunch break at work. That call ate up my ENTIRE lunch hour on hold, without speaking with a human being at all. Decided to bite the bullet, considering I might want a tank of gas to get home from work tonight, and took another full hour off the clock to call them. He flailed around, told me their computers were down, then asked to place me on hold for two minutes. 26 minutes later, he comes back on the line. He can't tell me why my card doesn't work. Can't connect me with anyone who can answer the question, and essentially is leaving me hanging until some random point in time tomorrow morning.

    In a word, WORTHLESS. The moment my funds are available I'll be closing the account. Yeah, go ahead. I guess hearing from an attorney on this might be useful, let's check that box. Disgustipated beyond belief.

    I've had Netspend forever, loved it.. until tonight!! Do you know how embarrassing it is to be out on a nice dinner and your card be declined for no apparent reason?!? The first time I called, was on hold for 45 minutes to be told no problems seen and my funds were accessible. After the restaurant declined again, I called and was on hold for over an hour to be told that my account had been blocked but didn't know why. I asked for a supervisor. After another 20 min. hold I was told by the "supervisor" my money wouldn't be available until I contacted the "required department" tomorrow and gave me a number, as if this was MY PROBLEM!! Very careless, unprofessional customer service, also a completely ruined evening. Think I'll be going elsewhere for my banking needs!! Thanks for nothing Netspend.

    My husband received his tax refund on his Netspend card yesterday. He is trying to transfer a portion to me to pay some bills and we both had to go through answering security questions and having information emailed with a request for the transfer. I called them yesterday and was told everything would be complete within two hours... yet today nothing. We've called three times today and were told the same thing. The transfer has not been completed and at this point I am disappointed with Netspend. We have our payroll deposited every two weeks and never had an issue, now all of a sudden you want to VERIFY... get real.

    I've been a happy customer since around 1997. Until today, this is the first time I write a review for Netspend and part of me wishes it was a good one. Today I received a text saying there's a problem with my account and to call customer services so I do but service rep says there is a temporary block on the account, that I need to talk the fraud department. So the call gets put on hold the first time for about 30 mins. No one picks up second time for about 20 and at this point I can't stay on the line as my crept up and kept me from sitting there waiting. As soon as I could I called back only to get the same result for 42 mins, at which point the call ended and I don't know if my phone dropped the call or I got hung up on.

    And now I have an going call as I write this and I find myself at the 57 min mark waiting yet again with no access to my money or account. I will wait as long as possible because I want this issue solved but if this does not get solved today I will need to reevaluate if this service is worth the aggravation. And yes, I'm still on hold. Unfortunately, I've already recommended this service to a few people but I don't think I'll be doing that going forward. It's nice that you are offered to be contacted by an attorney about complaints filed here, very convenient. Good luck to everyone having issues with Netspend.

    I currently have an account with Ace and I am unable to log into my account. This is the message I am receiving: "For the security of your money, we are requiring you to set a new online account center password. Please enter the required information below and click Continue". Then it is asking me for my card number and CVC2. Well, I don't have my card number yet because I have not received the card in the mail. I had this account for over two years but had to order a new card again since Ace never sent me out a new one after I reported it lost. I have been using my virtual account which has now been also closed and for what reason, who knows? This is my account and I cannot get in. Can someone please help me with this.

    I also have not received my new card that I requested via mail so there is no way for me to know the card number or the CVC number in order for me to get in. I am wondering if I was locked out because I sent a message stating how disappointed I was at not being able to access my own income tax money. When I call no one is able to answer my questions. I am wanting to send another Western Union or MoneyGram to my family since I cannot access my money any other way. I was told that I cannot transfer money to my son or husband that also have separate accounts with ACE. I have sent two emails with all of my information so that they can confirm my identity. Let's see if they respond to that. If I have to get the police involved I will. This is my income tax money that was deposited into my ACE account last week.

    I like a number of my Net Spend features. One is that updates me via text msg. within minutes that it has been used, how much was spent and the updated balance. This can also serve as a security feature if the card is used without my knowledge. Ease of reloading cash on the card I find of great benefit.     I will NEVER use Netspend again. My refund was deposited on Thursday and stayed in pending status because I did not received personalized card yet and was told it would post when I receive and activate the card. Well after waiting another 5 day I finally received the card. I called to activate and was told that my return was sent back to the IRS. Mind you I have called on 3 separate days and was assured by 3 different people that my money would be there when I activated the card. Even went as far as sending them my card and license to verify my identity so there would be no problems with the tax refund.

    Now I have to wait God knows how long for a check to be mailed to me. Netspend and their customer service department are all liars. So upset at Turbo Tax for using such a crappy company for their refunds. I learned my lesson and in the future will never use or recommend Netspend.

    I ordered my Netspend card on 1/29 and had my tax refund sent to it. I have a regular bank account, but with Netspend you get your refund 2 days faster. So, when I found out my refund was going to be deposited soon, I went ahead and activated the card. Now, I have to send in all my info: ssn, id, and paycheck stub for address verification. Ok, so I went ahead and turned everything in and have yet to get a response. Now, they send me an email saying, I have a pending deposit and if I don't call them by Wednesday Feb. 12, they are going to send it back to the IRS. WTF!!! Never again, my Mom and Husband have had great a experience with Netspend, which prompted me to get a card in the first place. I have lived at my home address for over 20 yrs. They should have been able to verify my address with my name and social, which they asked for when activating the card. I was born in this house, address has always been the same! This is just a big hassle. I hope I get my money soon.

    I got a text the other day stating I need to get in contact with customer service. So I called, they said my tax check has my married name and not the name that is on the account. So I told them that I gave them the required paperwork back in Dec when I got married so they lost my paperwork. So now I was told I need to send them more paperwork to this doucments@netspends.com. I do this but then when I check my account they are saying if they have not heard anything from by the 02/12 they were going to send back my return. Why would I stay on the phone for close 2 hours if it was not my account? So I try calling today but guess what, the system is down. This is not good.

    My tax return was deposited but my Netspend card was never delivered. After googling this issue I have found there are many others going through this same issue. Last year they allowed people to transfer their funds to a netspend card they bought at a local store. Conveniently this year they have a 30 day policy in place to prevent people from doing this. My card still has not arrived and after the horror stories I have read I am afraid that when it does arrive they will have blocked my account like they have done to many others. There are people wanting to file a class action lawsuit against netspend and if I do not receive my card or be allowed to transfer my funds I will be personally organizing a class action lawsuit myself.

    Purchased prepaid card from Walgreens ($25). Tried to activate it was told I need to call customer service (problems with account). I then was bounced from dept to dept before I was told that I couldn’t get a Netspend card because of a previous balance I had?????? (It gets tricky here.) My son's card is the card in question. He obviously received his tax refund on it, and left a negative balance. My son & I have the same (name & address) but of course different SSN's. I explained this over and over again to each person I spoke with who were obviously reading the same script, "I'm sorry Mr. **, we are going to put you on hold... blah blah blah."

    I was then referred to the fraud department (no problem to me I'm legit). I was asked to verify my identity by emailing a copy of my SS card, driver’s license, and utility bill to cardholders@netspend.com. I was hesitant at first but I really needed the card so I obliged. I was told I would hear from someone in 24 hours. I didn’t so I called back, received the same song & dance, but this time I was told to email my info to fraud@netspend.com. The next day same act, different address, documents@netspend.com (you really can’t make this stuff up). So after emailing dangerous personal info across the web with no acknowledgement of receipt, I finally received a call from someone who told me the issue is now sorted out & I will receive my card in 7 to 10 days.

    Fast forward (1month) - I receive my card and activate it successfully. Now a proud user of Netspend... I’m using it consistently, even signed up for the $9.95 no fee plan & got the iPhone app - cool. The next day try to get gas, & the card is declined. I go home and receive the message: "We're sorry, there is a problem with your account." After going back and forth for multiple calls the support person read to me the same thing that was read to me before I received my permanent card, "We sorry you can’t apply for a Netspend card". After being on hold for 40+ minutes the guy from risk management let me explain to him what happen from day 1, only to tell me he was reading on his screen that Netspend as a company decided to not keep my account open for their best interest. I asked him how long was this "ban", he said lifetime.

    I was getting extremely comfortable with this card because of the ease at which to transfer monies to other cards. I am sooooooooooo glad I didn't finish the direct deposit form from my paycheck. What makes me the most angry is the hoops I was made to jump through to get the card activated only to be shut down again, and having me send my personal information to 2 different email accounts. As plain as day my information adds up but oh well, I will never pick up a Netspend card ever again, and I will advise others to do the same!!!! In case you reading this Netspend, this is my Reference # **.

    I purchased a Netspend card at a CVS and added $200 to it. The first time I tried to use it, it was declined. I called customer service and was told my account was blocked and I needed to contact risk management which were closed. I asked why my account was blocked and was not given an answer. I was told my account balance was $200 so why can't I access funds I placed on a prepaid card? This has become a nightmare because I need to use my money for food and bills and I can't access it.

    I bought this card with the expectation that I'd be able to use it immediately any way that I pleased. Not only am I not getting what I paid for, apparently I am paying 50cents every time I call to get what I initially paid for. There is nothing easy about using this card. I have never been able to use it since I bought it and they have my money and there is no one who can help me. This has been a horrible experience and I plan to make it my mission in life to make it difficult for them to defraud other poor people with this deception.

    When contacting customer service, the live agents are very helpful, friendly, and professional as well as not in India or a similar foreign country. I am a little displeased with the fees for cash back and checking my balance via phone. Reloading my card with a Vanilla Reload Pack was a tad bit confusing at first. I had to go to the Vanillareload.com website instead of using the reload card tool on the Netspend website, though there was no indicator of this on Netpspend's website but I figured it out before I reached a customer service agent on the phone from Netspend (though I only waited maybe a minute or so). Direct deposit is a breeze as well as using the card for transactions live and online. Overall a decent card. I like the benefits that come with the card, like cashback and life insurance. I also like the option to upgrade the card to a premium account for a minor fee. Upgrading to a premium account allows the option to open a savings account as well, which I thought was nifty. I will be opening a bank account soon, so I will no longer have a need for the card but if I weren't I would most likely stick with this card over many other options.

    I have been a NetSpend customer since 2007 and have been so pleased that I wouldn't dream of going to another bank (unless it were absolutely necessary). Every experience that I have had with their customer service department was handled with a great deal of respect and professionalism. NetSpend isn't like most banking systems who usually are out to gouge the customer. (I am sure we can all think of at least one experience.) NetSpend’s fees and schedules are so fair it's unreal. I have been the victim of online predators and have filed the necessary dispute forms with NetSpend and they went to battle for me. They got back every bit of money owed to me in a very timely fashion. If it weren't for them, I would have never found closure.

    The immediate texting and email for every transaction is a life saver. You can't beat the security of that. I tell other people about this feature and they are amazed. It not only keeps me aware of purchases I make, but it keeps me aware of anybody else who might fraudulently make a purchase. It also lets me know if I am about to overdraft, and by the way, NetSpend’s overdraft protection beats all others hand down. They even give you a 10 dollar, no penalty buffer zone. I just can't say enough about my experience with NetSpend, but I would highly recommend them to anybody who wants a bank that genuinely cares for their customers.

Save on transaction costs by enrolling in a program that is 5 dollars a month for unlimited pin/signature transactions (I use this service when I know I will be using the card numerous times a month.
