I strictly use NetSpend for my paychecks. I like the updates that I get on my account balance. I also like that it has an overdraft protection which controls where I couldn't overspend. However, there were a couple of times my funds didn't process correctly but NetSpend fixed it.
Thanks for the feedback! We strive to create features and tools that will benefit our valued customers.

What a ripoff of a company!!! I load cash money onto a Visa card and cannot even use it because they have my funds HIJACKED!!!! I took pictures of and emailed them ALL of the verification they required, and they still won't activate my card for use. Next review will be on the Better Business Bureau's website. I opened an account with Netspend in 2010. At first I didn't like the customer service because I thought I was always getting all foreign people but they improved a lot. I like the card too because I get my check a lot faster once I set up the direct deposit, so we chose them over a regular bank. Since using the card, I was able to manage my finances better because I don't have to worry about check bouncing and they give me a grace period. I also get perks for purchasing, like 10% off. Making online purchases or paying bills online with the card was also very convenient and I also transfer money to my kid using the card. Overall, it was an enlightening experience with Netspend.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. Thank you for the review.

My son received a card as a gift and choose to hold on to it until it saved up the amount he wanted and we could not activate the card. We call and were told since he held on to it it was expired even though the expiration date states 02/ 2019. Nowhere does it states fee would charged if it's not used. They taken money that was not theirs and refused to make it right. I will post a negative review anywhere I can and contact their corporate office.

I tried to get NetSpend to handle my phone bill because they were taking money out of my direct deposit for my phone bill and they took three of my phone bills out in one month. I called Verizon and they didn't know anything about it, except for one month phone bill, so it was NetSpend that did it. I sent the paperwork in and showed them all of the proof, including the screenshots off my phone, because it went directly to my phone how they did it all in one day that month. And then it went to a 90-day investigation. So, they said they would send me back my money, which was almost $200 worth. However, after the 90 day investigation, they sent me a $35 check. First, they said they'd give me $45, then it turned out to be $35. I thought before they were pretty good. I was with them for over four years. So now I stopped doing business with them.

Received a NetSpend card as a Christmas gift. It's not a gift card so beware when you go online to "activate" your card. You are agreeing to opening a bank account with numerous fees. I instantly closed the account and requested a check. Of course, it cost $5.95. It's a financial option for a lot of people, but not me. Without a doubt, buyer beware. Understand what you are buying and in turn giving to your friends or family.
Hello Annette,
We understand your concerns with the fee's associated with your account, this is why we do offer additional fee plans that may suit your spending needs. Also we advise consumers on our card packaging that our card is not an gift card, but that information is often over looked. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and appreciate your feedback.

For my child to activate his card we were forced to send copies of both our social security cards, my driver license, his birth certificate, a utility bill with my name and address, his military ID card, and the straw that broke the camel's back. Just who do you people think you are to demand a person's court sealed custody records without obtaining a court order first from a judge??!! Are you crazy?? He has $160 on that card he was given as a birthday gift and you can forget about that now. We demand a full refund immediately or we will be lodging a legal complaint against NetSpend for attempted identity theft!!
Updated on 01/05/2017: Okay, after I made my 1st complaint about NetSpend they graciously sent us a new card. And once again it was unusable. No Authorization & no way to recoup the $160 the card was opened with. All extreme documentation they requested was emailed to them as they requested it. I drew the line at their demand for my 16 yr old's sealed court custody orders. That request must be made to & allowed by a COURT JUDGE. So we requested & wait for the $160 refund that was put on the card and they ignore our request and keep the money. How does NetSpend keep getting away with that? Isn't this called FRAUD? I put alerts on both our SS cards in case of potential identity theft! Birth Certificates, Drivers License, utility bill with my name & address, Military IDS, SS cards and now Custody Orders?! FORGET IT NETSPEND. JUST REFUND OUR MONEY. WE DON'T WANT YOUR LOUSY CARD ANYMORE!
Hello Dillon,
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience with our Customer Service Department. I have been with NetSpend for so long now but I was thinking about changing from NetSpend for a couple of reasons. First, I went through hell and high water to get my cashback for my rewards. I have a list of emails back and forth with them. I did an online survey and someone from Texas got back with me. He was able to look in my account and validated my purchases and they gave me back my cashback for that period.
Second, if I get online and try to look in my transaction history, the website gives me an option for money in versus money out and fees so I can see the money in and I have the option to get the money out. But I can't even see the money out. And usually before, I can just go to my account and see all my transactions in list form, money in and money out all in one window pane. But if I go online right now I cannot see the transactions for months before. I called them about it and they said they can email my history...but I still haven't received the email and it's already been a month.

That got put on her card fine. When I tried to transfer the money it said my card couldn't be used. I was irritated but it happens. So how surprised am I when I look at my bank account and see not one hold for $101.95 but two? I called customer service and they say they have no record of any pending transactions. I call my bank and they say it is not on their end but they can cancel them. It's been a week and still no money. Regulations on NetSpend say the money will be available in 30 minutes. Well this is not true and I'm still missing over $200. Not impressed at all!

I hate to call these people. They barely can understand your question. When you ask for a supervisor they take 1 hour to get someone on the phone. Never file a dispute about your own money, they will half investigate which leads to you opening another dispute because they close it and can't understand what the problem is. I had an ATM take money out of my account twice and I never received any funds from the ATM because it errored out. I have been disputing this issue for 5 days now and still don't have my $300. I have bills coming through and NetSpend is charging me fees like its normal. When I keep calling asking for temporary credit that takes 10 days and a written letter that I did to but attached to the dispute they closed. So guess I have to send it again. This is crazy.
Hello De Andrea,
Thank you for your feedback. We see you had some concerns regarding your dispute claim we would be happy to address this with you. We adhere to Regulation E processing time frames while investigating cardholder claims. We also recommend using the over the counter withdrawal if you are having trouble with ATM's in your area. I’ve been with NetSpend for about 8 years now. I was looking to get a temporary card then and I wanted to do some transactions on the card where I didn’t want it to go directly to my bank cards. I got NetSpend for the debit card use and saw that they were the actual savings account that I can tie in, which has been pretty helpful for me. Then, they're really good with using the savings and being able to transfer funds from the savings to the card, or from the card to the savings. I use the direct deposit more frequently and the reload locations only for specific times especially when I want to load a certain amount for whatever reason.
Their customer service reps are usually good. I call in maybe once every 3-4 months, and they’ve been nice at those times. In general, I’ve been happy with NetSpend especially when I call. When I had a reason to call for different things that have come up or questions that I may have, they’ve been very helpful as far as informing me of things. I like the fact that they actually send me things in my mailbox. Having NetSpend has been a good situation for me for the most part.

This prepaid card service is the worst experience I have had. I received a $100 prepaid card from a family member. NetSpend required I give them my SSN, DOB, Home Address to active the card. Then they wanted me to send copies of my photo ID too. I refused. They agreed to activate the card for "restricted" use. When I tried to use the card it was declined. I spent about an hour on the phone with them on 3 separate calls. Always being transferred to a call center abroad where the operators barely spoke English.
I finally got the card activated and used 80% of the balance before they started declining the card again. I called and closed the card the next day writing the additional $20 off as a loss. I regret giving them my personal information and now have no idea if it's secure. AVOID PURCHASING PREPAID CARDS FROM THIS COMPANY! Buy an American Express, Visa or MasterCard at least you know what you're getting with those companies.

I went to one of the ACE that’s near my place and got a NetSpend because my boyfriend saves up some money and he’s supposed to load up the card. We've had it for a while. It's been convenient for us and I direct deposit my paycheck on there. We used to use a lot of the reload locations but not anymore because it only limits how much money we can load on the card now. We drew out the limitation sometime this year because my boyfriend was able to put out more for rent and it's limited to $200. The limit has dropped.
Our interactions with the customer service reps were fine and everything was taken cared of when I had a problem. However, I really don’t like the fees because we get charged every time we use the card and they even charge a lot. We’re having a direct deposit going straight and it really shouldn’t have much fees being taken out, but they do. Other than that, NetSpend is great.

I called NetSpend and I was told that I could cancel my card and still be able to use my virtual card that I setup. That wasn't the case at all. After an employee received a fraudulent charge, his card was immediately canceled and we were told to purchase another NetSpend card to temporarily transfer the funds. After 6 hours on the phone with numerous customer service representatives and managers no one could help us because they failed to listen to the problem and think through the issues. If someone would have done additional research from the beginning we would have not 2 other money cards that we tried to transfer the remaining funds from the canceled card.
The CSRs speak terrible English and follow a computer prompt of what to say. When transferred to management the calls disconnect or you are placed back in the original queue to get yet again a new CSR. This is my 3rd run in with their terrible customer service. I purchased a prepaid card for $500 in October, provided the requested information. They put the wrong address in, I told them I didn't receive mail at that address. The post office doesn't deliver to it. They then asked me twice to provide information which I did. Because they had the wrong physical address and because I couldn't provide proof of physical address because it was wrong and I can't get mail to it they suspended my card. Which I was not told would happen. And nowhere does it say it has to be a physical address to be able to use it. It says mailing address.
I have spoken to multiple customer service representatives which tell me it's taken care of and I will get a check for my $500. It is now 12/13 and I no check. Every time I call it spend at least 15 min telling another customer service rep what happened. They cut me off several times telling me what the problem is and how to fix it. When I explain it has already been done they give me a different excuse why it hasn't worked. I have spent over a hour on the phone today.
Finally spoke with a supervisor who assures me they will call me back, that is a first. And that they will try to send me the check. I have explained multiple times that UPS and FedEx deliver to the physical address. They don't send checks that way. They asked for a different address which makes no sense to me. How can I have it sent to a different physical address? I stay at home taking care of physically disabled grandmother and put money on the card for my kids' Christmas. Now I don't know if they will even get one.
I am extremely unhappy with their service but also their customer service. Either their representatives are not trained properly or they really don't care and just say whatever to get off the phone with you. Their mistakes and lack of explaining to me what was going on has continued to draw this out. I have expressed my concern that this is a scam and anyone I have spoken to on the phone has completely disregarded what I have said. I would highly recommend to never, ever give this company your business. If there are any problems they are not concerned with resolving them, just keeping your money.

I was ask to do direct deposit. I did just what they ask. They sent me a account # also route #. I went to social security office, gave the information to Social Security case management. I received a new NetSpend package that had new card that says "direct deposit card activate" which I did. So on the 28th I call and ask what time direct deposit come on card. The agent informed me that it won't be until the 30. Ok I was fine with that. Then I find out on the 30th my direct deposit had been there all the time but on a different card then I had to pay NetSpend to place direct deposit on the card that they sent out to me. They put me in the negative so I could not use overdraft protection and I was told I would be able to use in 24 hrs - did not happen. I did get a ticket, break light was not working. All I ask them was be honest because all I got was lies. Driven to ATMs, driven to pull cash that I was told would be there wasn't.

I bought a NetSpend commercial I saw on the television and called the 800 number. This was two years ago. They sent me some information and their rep was really good. I've used the card to make purchases and pay bills online. I also use direct deposit more frequently. The only complaint I have with NetSpend was that somebody got my card numbers and spent $65. Also, I wasn't the only one this happened to, which was creepy. I reported it and had a police report but it was never put back on my card. This was about a month ago and nothing has happened. Other than that, it's good and convenient.

Still no money transferred to my new card! I called Netspend Corporate offices in Austin Texas to report this at 4:30 on Friday. Message on phone said officers are closed and the hours where till 5pm? Once I get my money I am so done with this company. They could care less personally if you have food or anything. Very unsatisfied with NetSpend. They said you get paid 2 day faster. So I got a card set up my direct deposit, thinking I would get paid Wednesday instead of my regular payday Friday. Call the card and nothing is there! Called Customer Service. The representative says, "Only a paper check that is manually deposited is available 2 days early." So basically since my direct deposit isn't manually done by my job, I don't qualify for the "Get paid 2 days earlier." All I have to say is "FALSE ADVERTISING!" Thanks to them I had to pay late fees on all my bill. I will NOT RECOMMEND this card to anyone! Someone needs to correct the advertisement, so others don't fall in this trap!

NetSpend deposits my money the day they get it and I get my money five days earlier than most people and it’s only a $5 fee a month. I also have overdraft protection and I finally set me up a savings account. I just went through all of it because that was my grandchildren’s Christmas fund, and right this minute I am ordering all their Christmas gifts online from Amazon Prime and it’ll be here in two days. I also have direct deposit and my daughter has a card, and if we need money we just transfer money from me to each other’s cards. It’s done in under a minute. Four of us have cards and all we have to do is ask each other.
I have recommended NetSpend to everybody that I talk to. I’ve called there a few times and everybody has been just as sweet and helpful. They are amazing. I had tried a couple of other cards and it seemed like I got cheated a lot. Money was going and I wasn’t spending it. NetSpend is the most awesome card I’ve ever had and will continue to be.

I received a card in the mail from NetSpend which I did not order. I was the recent victim of identity theft and have been calling creditors regarding fraudulent accounts for the past few weeks. When I called NetSpend (two times within about 10 minutes of each other, same result both times) I was notified that while I had two cards under my name, they could not discuss either with me as I didn't have all of the information... the information I was missing was regarding a purchase on the account. And, on top of that, if I didn't wish to activate the card that was sent to me, I could have a nice day. I can only conclude that they are a phishing scam that should be avoided. Every other creditor I have called have immediately put me on the line with their fraud department to shut down accounts. I have a freeze on my credit now, so they won't get a dime from me anyway.

Going with NetSpend was the easier way to have money put directly onto my card and I loved it. They release my military check four days early, and it helped out when I was deployed because everyone came to me since they knew I had money before payday. However, they had been good until they went and gave their call center and everything else overseas, and I’d much rather see the jobs here in America. I also used to get daily balances and now I don’t. I only get balances when I make a purchase or if there’s a deposit being made. That’s one of the functions that have ceased even though I’m signed up for daily notifications. A lot of their services have been downgraded because of their move overseas.

With NetSpend, I didn't have to worry about overdraft fees and the company also offered the convenience of the direct deposit, which is a very easy process. I just turned in the paperwork to my payroll and that was it. There was an ACE Cash Advance just a block away from my employer, so the location was convenient. I manage my finances significantly better with the card. It's easier to access and having the text notifications is the most helpful. The global deposit is nice and being able to pay bills online is convenient as well. My interactions with their team about some charges that were made under my card were simple and straightforward and the issue was resolved within 24 hours.

Last week, I called NetSpend to dispute a transaction. The gentleman on the other end stated he needed to cancel the card. I hesitated since it was the day before Thanksgiving and I still needed to get a few things. He assured me THREE TIMES that I would still have access to funds. In the meantime, he'd send another card, which would be received in 1-2 business days. I didn't understand how, but he also said I could go to CVS and get a new card, and transfer the balance. Number 1: I did not have access to my funds after that, and I could not transfer funds to another card because THEY BLOCKED MY CARD!!!! I called back to see if I could get help, and lo and behold they were closed... Which leads me to believe the man was just trying to get me off the phone so he could go home. If it wasn't for other family members, Thanksgiving would've been ruined.
Furthermore, I find out Friday, that the man didn't even order a new card as he said he did, and left a message in my inbox on the NetSpend website. I call, and have one ordered, and the lady was very apologetic, but didn't even offer to expedite shipping the card, since the first rep out and out LIED!!! Checked my account, it said that the card was shipped on 11/25. However, I get a text message on 11/28 stating that the card was shipped and should arrive shortly. So I have been WITHOUT ACCESS TO MY FUNDS FOR A FULL WEEK!!! No way to pay my rent, or buy food!!! Potentially, I may have to pay a late fee to my landlord if the card doesn't arrive by Saturday. Since this all started with a lie, then the company should be responsible for what the rep stated in my first call!
I'm currently looking into getting another card, as the disputed transaction was only $10, and this is WAAAAY too much trouble for a measly $10. All the customer service reps say is "sorry for the inconvenience". Not being able to buy food is MORE THAN AN INCONVENIENCE. Not being able to pay your rent on time is MORE THAN AN INCONVENIENCE!!! How can you treat people like this?

It keeps me on track ‘cause I know who I paid, how much I paid and what’s left. And that helps me budget things out. However, there was an offer that NetSpend had and I applied for it and didn’t get it. But my son applied for it and he got it. It didn't make sense to me because I've been with them for more than six years. But when I had to change my number, or when I tried to get my alert set up to make sure it was the right phone, everybody worked real good. When I did my tax before, I got my taxes sent to NetSpend card. They took the money on the card and I just kept it and never cut it off. NetSpend don’t charge overdraft fees. Their fees are straightforward, which I like, which we really don’t get with a bank. I have a bank account but I prefer my NetSpend card over it specifically for that reason. They seem to be honest and they don’t withhold any of my money. If I make a purchase, they don't hold the purchase, take the purchase away and put it back on at a later time. Also, I’m able to see my funds in real-time since I get text message updates every time I make a purchase and it shows me exactly what my account balance is which actually helps me manage my money better, which they don't do through a traditional bank.
With NetSpend, I get my money five days faster. I have had one issue though with one ATM where I can’t get money from it, but there’s another one across the street. Other than that, I’ve been able to use my card virtually anywhere. Sometimes I use the reload locations. But for the most part, I get direct deposit. It’s not something that I use frequently, but I know I can go to Walmart to do it. It’s not too much of a hassle. However, I can't transfer money from my NetSpend card to another person’s bank account that's why I do have a traditional bank account. I have to go inside the bank, have them swipe it as a debit card purchase, and then put it inside my traditional bank account to do a wire transfer. Overall, I like NetSpend. It’s a good card. I’m going to continue to bank with them for as long as they are open.

I started collecting Social Security and disability but there wasn’t too many options back then so I got NetSpend and that was the way to do my direct deposit. It was convenient to pay bills and make online purchases. However, one time when I used the card at an ATM, the ATM didn’t give me the money but subtracted it from my account. Most banks give the money while they do the claim, but they didn’t give me the money while they were waiting for the claim. Also when online, I had two to three times where one of the businesses took my money and I didn’t even know it. They just let them take it out of my account which is not right. They should make the person be aware that it’s a legit, agreed transaction by the owner of the card before they approve it.
I've used NetSpend’s direct deposit for the last seven years. They offered the overdraft protection which helped as a little cushion for me, however it got to a point where they said that I can no longer use it again which didn't make too much sense to me. I was a little disappointed and I am getting ready to not to use them anymore. I also don’t like that their rep is always foreign and I can’t always understand what they’re saying.

I will never do business with Netspend again. I lost my debit card last week and needed to purchase a prepaid card to pay a bill online. I purchased the card at my local CVS and loaded it. I called to activate and was told that there was an activation issue and I needed to speak to a rep. The representative proceeded to tell me that I had a negative balance on a card from 2012 and there was a restriction on the card. This conversation was held on Nov 16th. She said that it would take 24 hours after requesting a lift of the restriction to activate the card.
I waited until 5pm on Nov 17th to call back. This new rep, told me it actually took up to 48 hours and the request had been made but not yet processed. I waited until Friday evening at 7:30 to call back. A third rep, told me that could see where the request had been made yesterday (although it should have been made 2 days prior) and that it had not yet been processed so there was nothing he could do.
I asked that the call be escalated to a manager. The manager told me that he would send another email to the "back office" and ask that it be expedited BUT no one would be available to look at it until Monday because they don't work weekends. And that he would make sure there was a text alert sent when the card was active. Here we are, November 22nd, and I have not heard a thing.
I called to inquire and was told that an email needed to be sent to the back off to request the removal of the restriction. Something that was done last week, almost an entire week ago. At this moment I have no access to my funds, and no faith in it being resolved. I asked if the money could be returned to me via transfer to another bank or card and was told no. They can only close the account (that was never truly opened) and send me a check that will take anywhere from 10-14 days! I will NEVER spend another dime with anything that has anything to remotely do with this company and I will discourage everyone I know from supporting it as well.

I also have my payroll check being deposited to my NetSpend account. I've used the reload stations many times and it's very convenient. I called them when somebody felt they could take money from my account that I didn't authorize, and the resolution department handled it very well. Once they resolved it, they sent a mail letting me know what happened. And then one time, the company put my money in the wrong account. They missed a zero because I have a lot of zeros after the first number of my account number. It cost me to miss a funeral. It took them about four days to straighten it out, but they did. Most of the time the reps are knowledgeable and friendly. Sometimes I'll get somebody that I can't understand and I have to ask them to give me somebody who can understand and speak English clearly. But other than that, I have no problem.

My card was hacked all my money was gone in twenty minutes. Called customer service, they lied to me about everything. Then I talked to supervisor, she didn't know what to say about how the customer service rep flat-out lied to me. She was speechless. Spoke with individual at corporate, he didn't care. Pretty much told me to take my money to the bank. I've been a customer for five years. After reading the real reviews over a hundred reviews talking about how NetSpend just takes your money and never calls you back. I guess they don't care about their customer. I am with a real bank now. It's just sad how this company treats their customers.

I needed a prepaid debit card to help manage my money and my checks and I liked NetSpend card and the program. I often use it for direct deposits and there's a reload location around the corner from my house. Managing my finances is a lot easier because instead of constantly going to the ATM to get cash for bills, I can just use my card. I have the online account and it keeps up with everything perfectly for me. If I ever have a dispute with a purchase, I call in, they handle it right away, no problems and it’s all good. To be able to pay my bills online is a very convenient process. It’s really easy and quick. I had referred my husband to get a NetSpend card. I didn't get my referral fee though.
The people at NetSpend are good. They were very nice and really helpful when I had to interact with them. They helped solve my problem really quick, so I didn't spend a long time on the phone explaining over and over, trying to get things figured out. I never had to speak to a supervisor or anything. The person just helped me right away and everything was okay.

I received the NetSpend card when me and my wife got our taxes back a few years ago and since she was working and getting paper checks it would cost us three dollars every time to cash it. So we started putting her checks on direct deposit through NetSpend and have loved it ever since. We have had a couple issues and when calling customer service they would take care of us in a fast response.
Only one time did we have a problem and that is when we did the 'refer a friend' promo and we both should have gotten ten dollars from NetSpend but that never did happen. We called them for three days straight on the phone for hours each time and they just would not do it. We even had the friend that we had referred standing with us when we called so he could give them his card number and info. but still nothing... That kinda upset me and almost made me change cardholders but I didn't just because I don't think they still understood what we was saying.
Anyway I love that I can only spend what I have but along with that I have the $10 over in case I'm a little low and they just take that back out when my direct deposit goes in without any extra fees! Thank you and we have enjoyed having you as our cardholder. The only thing I would change is if you could report to credit agencies so our credit would build up. Lol. Thanks again.

I've been with NetSpend for about four years now. I like the idea of having access to my account. I also like the budget aspect of it. I can set my own budget limitation. It's very convenient to use the card to do direct deposit, pay bills, and make online purchases. Their customer service is very easy to talk to and they meet my needs. The only thing is that I would like to get a chip card because it's too easy to use without the chip. But the security is pretty good and I have recommended it to other people as well. I'm enjoying their services and I like how I can get my money in advance.

The monthly maintenance fee is cheaper to maintain my account through NetSpend. And so far, it's been terrific. It provides total convenience and I just discovered that I got the take back rewards. I had no idea that I can get money back for using my card until three weeks ago. The only con that I have recently ran into is not being able to transfer or add money to my account through another bank account. It should be opened up so that if I need to borrow money from a family member, they can just get money on my prepaid card through their Bank of America account. That will be nice.
I also encountered an issue when I ended up having five NetSpend accounts open. It took a couple of days to get that taken care of. The last guy I spoke to was able to help me and closed all the accounts except the one I was currently using at the time. But that seemed like a big hassle and I did 150 bucks on one of the cards. It was my mistake. I was renting a room and picked it on the wrong card. I called to get that money off of that and transferred to the card I had in my pocket. We ran into all kinds of issues. So I wasn't able to rent the hotel room that night, which sucks.
But other than that, I really like NetSpend. They came a long way and I'm satisfied. I feel pretty safe to their emails. They send me frequent emails and I'm expecting nothing to change. But it's nice to know that they keep me in the loop. I use NetSpend on a daily basis and I would recommend it to anybody over other prepaid cards.

I've had a NetSpend card for several year and all was fine with the exception of a few minor hiccups here and there. But then recently I started getting charged an extra $1-$2 for each transaction and didn't know why. I even accused a cashier of overcharging me. I eventually found out, by calling NetSpend that they had changed and decided to start charging per transaction. They signed me up to a default plan and not told me about any of this! Needless to say I stopped my direct deposit to NetSpend immediately and have not looked back. The lack of communication felt underhanded and that's something I cannot deal with. Bye NetSpend.

A few days later after I found out that my benefits were going to start, I called NetSpend and realize they had my ss# in error. By one digit! I corrected the error but then they put my account on freeze until I sent them documents to prove that I am who I am. I've sent over 5 emails all declining one or 2 documents.... this is ridiculous and they have my money and won't release it because of an error that their company made.
Now I know at least 5 people who uses NetSpend (that's why I thought I try it) and all of them told me all they had to do was give them their name, social, date of birth and address. So why are they putting me through this ordeal because of a mistake their employees made and I corrected them. I gave them a current energy bill, my ID, my benefits letter both from state and social security... I'm going absolutely crazy because our family needs the funds and now I don't know what's going to happen!!!!

With my Netspend card, I hold on to my money better because I don't have all this cash on me. I'm able to pay bills and take care of most of my business a lot quicker and easier. I use direct deposit through a reload spot and put the money right on the card. It's really convenient. There have been no problems or complaints and I haven't gotten ripped off. At the time I was more attracted to the policy than all the advantages it had which were more advanced than other prepaid cards. So I got a NetSpend card and I'm glad I made that choice and as long as they're in business I'll be purchasing things. With my NetSpend card, I'm more aware of the amount I spend and how I spend it. It's effortless to reload the card through direct deposit. When I needed a replacement card or needed to transfer money and I couldn’t figure out exactly how to do it, I would always call them. There wasn’t any long wait, and everybody was courteous and excellent.

I had a big refund coming and the IRS adjusted it, so I got the NetSpend card. I didn't know about any other type of debit card but the IRS recommended it, and I thought it was a good card. It's been pretty awesome with NetSpend. My card is pretty handy when I don't have cash in my pocket. I know my card will go through. I'm able to make purchases and pay things a lot easier with it. There's only one or two websites that don't take the NetSpend card and I'm not really sure why, considering it's a prepaid card and the money is already there. Other than that, I use it quite a bit. Since using the card, I'm able to manage my finances better, except for the ATM charges because I not only get charged $2.50 by NetSpend, but also get bank charges.
I use the location reloading because my place of business does not do direct depositing. Other than having to go and load the card all the time, it's pretty easy to use. Most drugstores, like CVS and Walgreens, now reload the card. There are direct deposits only when I have unemployment, when I'm shut down for the summer, or my short-term disability gets direct deposited to the card. I've only called the team at NetSpend once and that was because somebody charged my card when they had no business charging it, and were not authorized to do so, but NetSpend took care of it. I would definitely recommend NetSpend to a friend. In fact, I have recommended them and a couple of my friends did wind up getting them.

I am so mad I could scream. My wife is sick. She has been for a long time. Last Friday she was put in intensive care. Right now she is in a coma. Before she got this bad we noticed that this law firm hit us twice for $119 on the same day. They haven't done anything for us. My wife repeatedly told them to cancel, but they didn't. My wife said she would take care of it. She was feeble, and accidentally reported our card stolen to NetSpend when she just wanted to block this law firm. We asked what to do. They said to get another NetSpend card at Walmart and put it in my name when I activated it. This I did. Then they said I could transfer the money $597 to the new card. The transfer did not work.
I called today and the phone person could not help me and said she would transfer me to the supervisor. I waited 1 HOUR on the phone. This is very poor for a supervisor. What kind of business are they running? If you look at my transaction history you will see that I have made sizable deposits and withdrawals for quite some time and there has never been any issue until recently. Now they want me to provide power of attorney papers, this, that, and the size of my underwear, and I can see it is going to be a lengthy, drawn out process. All this while my wife is dying in the hospital.
What kind of people are we becoming? What kind of businesses are operating today? This would have taken 15 minutes when I was young. But the banks and these firms are not local because of the stupid globalists, and everybody is ripping off everybody so bad they have to make things so secure even their customers can't get in. I know most people don't have an issue, and neither did I - until I had an issue. Wait till YOU have an issue!

I never had a problem with NetSpend until I lost my wallet with all my sensitive information in it. While I searched for my wallet, I was literally on the phone with NetSpend reporting my card lost. I was told that my card was blocked and that I needed a new card to transfer the balance. Another representative helped me to do that and when my new cards came in the mail, he helped me to pick the one linked to my account. That all happened at the end of August 2016.
October 20, 2016 I received an email stating that my PIN was changed on the card that I had reported lost. I called NetSpend and was told that someone called in and tried to change my email and PIN then sent $68.35 to someone. I closed my account with them immediately and asked how was that done with a card that was canceled/blocked? I got no reply and was hung up on. After 2 attempts of calling I was sent to the Fraud Department. I was told to send an affidavit and wait 10 days for the investigation. The claim was denied because NetSpend said I never reported my card lost. I have yet to receive a call due to the correspondence only being sent to NetSpend's secure online message box which I don't have access to because my account is closed. I am so dissatisfied with their negligence and lack of customer service.

Netspend's prepaid card is very reliable. I could manage my money and pay for certain things with it, which is convenient. I could reload money on it when my money is running low and pay bills with it. I could automatically see my balance as soon as the money is placed. I also hook it up on my phone so every time I use it, it will pop up on my phone and tell me my balance. I can look over my money and know exactly what I'm working with. I can also see a balance every time I use it so I know exactly what my money looks like so I won't overspend.
I have three jobs that use the NetSpend direct deposit and so I don't have to worry about going to the bank to change my check when I get paid. They automatically load on my card and sometimes even a day early before the pay date. There are also two reload locations close to my house so when I have money I could just walk to go there and deposit it. And when I see something that doesn't look right, I will call them and ask questions to find out what's going on and they would look into it for me. So it's been a pretty positive experience overall with NetSpend.

It's a lot easier for me having a prepaid NetSpend card. I don't have to carry cash. Because if I have cash on me, I know I'm going to spend it. But with the card, it uses a debit or a credit card and I like that. Also, I don't have to get American Express or a regular credit card which would ding my credit. But the reload locations around here in my small town charges too much so I use their direct deposit only.
As for customer service at NetSpend, it sucks a little bit because if I go on vacation and I spend it in New York state, they put a hold automatically on the card. The first time it happened was June last year, when I went up north in New York state to visit family. They automatically put a hold and it was declined at the register. But before that, I went up in November to spend Thanksgiving with my family and no problem. I could go to Wal-Mart buy things.
When I got declined, I got a text alert from NetSpend because I had over $400 the day before. So I got on in Wal-Mart. The customer service rep told me, "Oh no, you don't have any money?" I said "Yes ma'am, I do. I can show you. I know exactly where it comes from”. Then she said they've put a hold in my account because I was out of the state. I asked "Am I supposed to alert you people to every time I'm going out of the state? So I can't use my money? It didn't happen in November but it happened this June".
She said she can't do anything and that they'll have to send me another card for my account because they can't take the hold off. That it will take another seven to 14 days. I said "Well, I'm on vacation. I'm not in Georgia, I'm in New York" and that really ticked me off. So I spoke to a supervisor and they ended up getting the hold off of my account so at least my last couple of days, I was actually able to buy presents and flowers for my family members. So it was stupid because here it said MasterCard or Visa and it's supposed to be good anywhere in the United States but it wasn’t. But anyway, I've still recommended NetSpend to several of my friends.

About three to four years ago I had an issue with my identity being stolen. I called the IRS and they froze my information concerning cards and all of that. I called and spoke to NetSpend about a year-and-a-half ago and I spoke to a supervisor and he was very rude, very nasty and told me to never to use NetSpend again in my life. When I asked in detail of why I'm not able to use NetSpend I was told that they could not give me that information. Recently I made a trip to Atlanta Georgia and before I went to Atlanta Georgia I made a stop at a QT. My card was actually stuck into the machine and I found out through a supervisor at QT that once the card is stuck in the machine it shreds it. Desperate, homeless in Atlanta, hungry, I call to Brink's. Express to them my concerns.
I told them that I had a card that I found and I asked if they could put the card that I misplaced if they could put the monies and transfer it back to that card. I was told "no. You will have to buy a NetSpend card." I asked a complete stranger for $20. The purchase of the NetSpend card was $22. Card number ** was completely denied by Brink's. I immediately after getting off of the phone and then hung up on bio NetSpend customer service AKA Brink's customer service. After I called in to give that card number to the customer service I was put on hold then the phone hung up on me. I then called back to NetSpend aka brink's to allow them to know the situation and the question that I asked to the customer service was "why was the phone hung up in my face."
I gave the information of my NetSpend card and I asked "was it because I did not qualify to use NetSpend" and the customer service said "yes that's the reason why you did not qualify so she hung up." I told him I found that very disrespectful and that he was very unconcerned about me as a customer. I've then asked to speak to a supervisor NetSpend and was told that I was never to use NetSpend again in my life. I asked why and they said "because of suspicious activity". Well I was thinking that NetSpend was a prepaid card and was wondering how could there be any suspicious activity however I called back to NetSpend customer service AKA Brink's customer service, paid $25 for Netspend card. Was told I cant use it.
I then called back to netspend aka brink's and asked for my card to be expedited. My card was to be mailed to me November 2nd. I was also told on November 1st to call back within 24 hours to get a tracking number correction. When I called back my tracking number was not available. I called back later on that day around 4 o'clock - my tracking number was not available. I spoke to a supervisor. He assured me that my concerns would be escalated to a higher management. He gave me the wrong information. Was told to call back at 6pm. I would receive my tracking today Nov 2, 2016. Concerning the time to call back it was 5 o'clock my time and he told me that it was around 4 o'clock his time.
I called back at 7 o'clock my time just to inquire. I asked what time zone that they were in NetSpend AKA brink's and I was told it was 7 o'clock which was the same time zone as North Carolina. 7 o'clock. I did make it a point to say that I'm not understanding what's going on. I'm not sure if this is a different department in a different state. My question was not answered. That was not answered. I was told again that my card will be delivered tonight nov 2, 2016 by UPS. I have not received my card yet. If I don't pay my rent I will be evicted. I have bills to pay. I'm a person with a disability and NetSpend you guys have been very disrespectful and legally if I have to do something about it I will have to do it but for now I am making this complaints because you guys are very disrespectful and unprofessional. I have phone recording of every call. I called Netspend aka brink's and made a formal complaint over the phone. The pic of the receipt is where my card was stuck in the ATM.

I saw the bogus stuff the company sent & I promise you nowhere did it say anything about me having 10 days to cancel. And the kicker is this is the "added" product I had no interest in.
I am the direct deposit specialist for my district at Ace and take pride in the product I represent, your product. I had 9 direct deposits alone in the month of October I set up, yet had to let mine go & get an acct with someone else because I am questioning the integrity of some of your employees. I feel I got two answers from 2 people. Since this my dog has bladder stones & is scheduled for surgery on 10-11, Friday. I was thinking if all this had of been handled correctly I would have gotten paid Wednesday with you, thus moving her surgery up 2 days. I'm angry and hurt. I feel this is unjust and a letter & email should never have been sent out saying all was final if it wasn't. Now my account with you is overdrawn because of this & I honestly have no idea when I'll be able to pay it.

After having a NetSpend card for two years and not having many issue (minor issues I should have taken into account) they stole $1,000 from me and whenever I call they hang up or don't help. They say the same exact thing each time as if they are reading from the palm of their hands. Even speaking with a supervisor was completely pointless. I don't think they knew how to even work their system. I was told a trace would be put on a direct deposit that I didn't receive (2nd time not reviewing my direct deposit in two months the first amount was $860). Then to call back in two hours. I called back and was told the request was never put in, you can imagine how livid I am now, no money, no sign of it, no answers.
After calling for days and getting attitudes and dial tones I came across a rep named Carmella. I thought Carmella was helpful until the next rep told me she lied and the direct deposit department did not send over email correspondence like she said stating my direct deposit would process in my account that day (3 days ago). The next rep Leila who claimed to have been a supervisor after being on hold for 1 hour and 35 minutes, showed no regard or concern. I was told to call the dept of treasury because they didn't get anything.
So I did with Leila on the line so she could hear what I was trying to explain (maybe I wasn't doing a great job explaining it since I had explained it 78 times already) the rep from dept treasury confirmed the money was sent and they would have returned the deposit the day after since she's dealt with things like this before that have been rectified by the bank upon discussion of the issue (because the customer is the main priority) so I took to Facebook to inform everyone I could not to waste their time or energy with this "for lack of a better word" company... needless to say they have blocked me on Facebook which is odd to me, any reputable company would have seen these concerns and warnings and took heed making steps to resolve the issue! That's what customer support is about RESOLUTIONS.
Anyway, I informed the last "supervisor" I spoke to that I will have my lawyer contact them instead of me (maybe they will understand better) so that I can get this lawsuit going. I trusted NetSpend and I even referred a few people to them over the years, needless to say everyone I referred is in the process of cancelling their account with them, one person told me that the rep said "she will not cancel their account because it looks bad for the company." I've never laughed so hard, this company is the biggest joke possibly in corporate America (if you consider their side of business corporate America related). I hate to have to go through the process of a lawsuit but there is no other way with these people. I have already lawyered up and he will be touching base with them (or their lawyer) tomorrow.

The NetSpend card is a great alternative to a credit card. Fees are reasonable, and it is accepted everywhere credit cards are accepted. My only complaint is that whenever canceled purchases are credited back to my account, NetSpend still sees fit to keep the one dollar transaction fee. While they have always refunded this upon request, it should be automatic. Keeping this fee on canceled purchases is unfair and is the only flaw in their otherwise good customer service.

At NetSpend, with Direct Deposit, you only pay a $5.00 a month maintenance fee. And that's it. There are only per swipe fees if you choose that particular plan. With Direct Deposit and NetSpend Premier, you get a FREE $10.00 overdraft so if you miscalculate and overdraw your card by $10.00 or less you won't be charged any fees! Compare that with a brick and mortar bank, where if you overdraw your account by JUST ONE PENNY, they'll charge you over $30.00 for an "overdraft fee", and, on top of that, start charging you $8.00 PER DAY until you cover the ENTIRE overdraft plus accumulated fees! If you are on a fixed income, by the time your direct deposit shows up, you could be broke and still owe the brick and mortar bank.
Because of all the bad press that prepaid cards receive, some credit card companies won't accept my NetSpend account to pay those bills. Many do, but more and more and starting to refuse to accept my NetSpend account, and I think that "Big Banks" are behind it, and they claim that it is because of all the fees that prepaid cards charge their customers. I guess they don't bother to look in the mirror and see all the fees that they themselves charge. In closing, in my humble opinion, NetSpend is far better than "mainstream banking".

However, my recent experience with my account being breached, resulting in unpaid bills and limited funds has not been pleasant. To add insult to injury, I have sustained an overdraft fee, because there are not funds to pay it. I am told that the investigation will take 45 to 90 days, however a loan of the stolen amount will be allotted in 10 business days (2 weeks). In this day and age of electronics, it can easily be investigated whether or not the claim is true. NetSpend claims our funds are FDIC insured, so what is the problem???

It sucks! I've had this card for 3 months now. When I go to the store, I have to pay $3.74 to load money onto my card. And after I load my card every time I check my card an extra dollar is taken. So I'm really paying $4.74 to load my card. Sometimes $2 is taken off my card. So I'm paying $4.74-$5.74 which I think is absolutely ridiculous. Last time I loaded my card, I was charged two dollars. And it doesn't even show who or what is taking these transactions. I was two dollars short for paying one of my bills. So I had to run to the store and pay 3.74 just to load $2 on my card and then be automatically charged an extra dollar for no reason. NetSpend is a rip off. After I pay my bill, I'm closing my account and I will never be a customer of theirs again. And I'm not recommending them to anyone.

The only answer that over the phone was quote, "We charged back the fees out of the goodness of our heart.” What kind of answer is that? I made a complaint to Federal Reserve Bank which I never received an answer.
I send numerous email to Skylight Paycard and never received an straight answer to my questions. They did respond to my email but it was obvious that did all they could to avoid a straight answer to my questions such as what happened to the actual transaction and why only the transaction fees were chargeback to my account and not the corresponding transaction.

Do not waste your time or money on NetSpend... After purchasing one of their pre-paid cards... I was on the go and called to have the account set up. They explained almost nothing about the card on the phone or the card's "plan". This card is price gouging at its best. I was wondering why my money was disappearing faster than I could spend it myself... when most of my purchases were small minor things... a pop before work, something to snack on during break. I didn't have access to a smart phone (mine was sent off for repairs) and my isp has been doing a lot of work in the area so our net has been down more than it has been up, so I haven't been using the pc for last few weeks. And come to find out... they charge $2 per debit transaction.
When I called to ask about it today the first rep I talked to got angry and hung up on me... LOL... Shouldn't I be the upset one? I mean they have siphoned over 100$ out of my account, before I realized they was charging me per debit transaction. The second rep I talked to... naturally "couldn't do anything about it" because these were "valid" transactions... yet I was never told/made aware that I would be charged per transaction. So I asked to speak to someone with some sort of "actual" authority to discuss the situation... because I thought the rep hanging up on me the first go around was rude and I wanted make a complaint about it. And whoa and behold... the second rep couldn't disclose that info.
So... I "Do Not" recommend this card to anyone because their customer support will hang up on you, refuse to give you info regarding the company/anyone with "authority" to make above grunt pay scale decisions and $2 per debit transaction fee without even the rep that helped set up the account the day I got the card making me aware of the fee... to me border's business practices you would expect in a third world country... Goodbye NetSpend. I had used your card's in the past... never with an issue... but this will be my last.

I have been a customer for over 5 years. Recently a transaction was approved on my account causing my account to be overdrawn a significant amount. I have repeatedly asked "If I didn't have enough money in my account, why wasn't the transaction declined?" In 5 years I have not been allowed to process anything past 7.00 overdrawn. I do not have overdraft protection. I was told that I am allowed up to 10.00 overdrawn, which I have never seen. The transaction was an additional 20.00. Which by that logic it should have been declined.
I was informed that because I have been such a loyal customer, the transaction was processed. Yea that's what I want, "You are a loyal customer so let's take money from you that you don't have!" Up until now I have LOVED Netspend. Had zero complaints. While speaking with customer service I am treated as if I am stupid. I was not disputing the company requesting the funds, I was disputing NetSpend/Metabank for allowing it period. So because this company proved they know me, they were allowed to take money. I also asked "if this is true then when I am paying bills and am low on funds, why is EVERY transaction declined if they go over -7.00?"
To some people these small amounts may seem trivial, but to me every dollar counts. I am a single mother of 2 and am a stay at home mother due to my child's disability. So every penny counts. I wasn't asking for money. I wasn't denying the location. I felt it should have been declined if I have no money. And because of all of this, I now owe more than the initial transaction, more than a month later. I closed the card used for this, just to have the transaction follow my actual account. How that happened is beyond me. This location was not given my account information. I love how my dispute was declined the day before I get paid too!

I needed a prepaid card because I was accepting collect calls from an offender and Netspend was the provider in that area. I receive my money faster and my information is secure. It’s very convenient. I use the direct deposit and then go to a reload spot when I need to add money on my card. It’s an easy process. I've had good interactions with their team although I've gotten upset with a couple of reps. I understand that a representative may repeat some of the questions that I may have and me having to explain it a couple of times to them to understand and I might get a foreign rep and a foreigner may not understand what I’m trying to say. Overall, my NetSpend experience is the best.

I’ve been with NetSpend for 10 years now or longer. I was tired of having problems with bankers in La Crosse being open when they want to be and never getting anything done on time, so I thought I’d check out NetSpend. They were the only one who didn’t hound me every five minutes with a letter in the mail. They never harassed me and I never got bothered by them.
I also suggest them to everybody I know. In fact, I’ve got a lot of my friends signed up with them. I told them they could get their check faster and I’ve never had a problem with them. Recently I paid my bill and then the next morning, the phone company took the money out again not knowing they were on auto-pay. They never said anything when I went to pay it. As far as I know, the money’s being returned. So I’ve never had a problem with Netspend not getting it returned.
I get a constant text message. Every time I spend a dime, it pops up on my phone. Even when my computer was down, I still had it in my cellphone. I can even go to anybody else’s computer and cellphone to use it. Any time I mess up and don’t remember my password, they help me fix it. I also take out cash when my check clears. I pay my US Cellular and Charter Communications bills and it’s really convenient. When I played World of Warcraft, I didn’t have to go down to stand in line at Walmart to get a game card for two weeks because they were backlogged and didn’t have any. I set it up and it automatically came off. It’s easier to remember what I’ve spent when I’m not trying to find receipts all over my house. I can tell where every single penny is spent every time except for when I take cash out. But even still, I got receipts in every area of my purse. Their reps were all courteous and I’ve been really happy with NetSpend.

I wanted to start saving and budgeting my money and with NetSpend, I was able to do that. There isn't a lot of trouble with them and they are very good to customers. I was all for trying their card ‘cause they help people feel secure about where their money is being spent on. I also like that the online aspect is secure. I sometimes don't carry any cash ‘cause I'll spend it all, but NetSpend helps me with my spending habits. I have direct deposit with them and it saves me having to wait for my check. It's been awesome paying bills and making online purchases with my card too. NetSpend is very good with releasing the money. If I have an issue, they’re always good with helping me take care of it. It's very convenient.
I've called them with questions about ‘up and coming’ emails, about things changing with NetSpend and about things that they're adding. It’s a good service. I wish we can have different-colored cards, though, and that they would report when I make payments with the card. That helps my credit line. Otherwise, I'm very satisfied and I'd recommend NetSpend to a friend.

Many of NetSpend's options worked well for me. NetSpend has Anytime Alerts as well as everything that I can need to do. If I lose a card, I can go to the site itself and do everything there. That's beneficial because in the past when I dealt with other banks, I always had issues with mysterious transactions happening. I had to wait for a statement to come in to see what was going on.
One of NetSpend's features is the virtual card and I like the option that it offers. I like the fact that I can use that and if there’s an issue with a shopping place online, I can go ahead and cancel the virtual card without having to go through the whole process of getting a new card. However, I can’t say that I like going to their customer reps because the main issue I have is there's a language barrier and sometimes they don’t understand what I’m trying to tell them. That leads to a very big problem. Otherwise, NetSpend has an excellent online website.

I lost my Netspend Debit Card back around August 2016. I then discovered that three unauthorized transactions were made. I immediately contacted Netspend Customer Service. The lost card was deactivated and an "investigation" by Netspend began. I was informed by Netspend on October 20 2016 that I will not be refunded the unauthorized transactions! They gave a lot of double talk as to why they made this decision, but at the end of the day, that money was stolen from my account, and the money is not Netspend's but mine.
So, I called the Customer Service number, and asked to speak to a Supervisor about this claim. I made a total of 5 calls to NetSpend. Each time I spoke to the Representative, I had to explain this claim, then they attempted to connect me to a Supervisor which never happened. October 20th @ 4:41PM - was on hold for 52 minutes. October 20th @ 5:34PM, on hold for 10 minutes. October 20th @ 5:43PM, on hold for 3 minutes. October 20th @ 5:47PM, on hold for 21 minutes. October 20th @ 6:09PM, on hold for 34 minutes.
Note, again, that I never got through to speak to a Supervisor about this claim. I have been in the Customer Service Industry for over 18 years (Hospitality), and this ranks in the top 5, the worst way to handle a Customer Complaint. The sad thing is the amount is only $251 that needs to be refunded, and the transactions were not authorized by me. Last, I placed a call to Netspend's Corporate Office on October 21, 2016, but had to leave a voicemail message! Netspend thinks their decision to final this claim is over, but lets see what the Federal Trade Commission and the Texas Attorney Generals Office says about it.

I like the quality of the service NetSpend gives. I save money and know how to budget better since using their card. It's always there and I can count on it. I buy things online with it all the time. It's very convenient and I like the way that is set up. I use direct deposit and the reload feature at supercenters as well. Every time I call them, they listen to what the problems are. I appreciate the emails they give me. When I lost my card, I had to call the NetSpend team and get a replacement card. I had to use a temporary card for a while but their guys were telling me what to do about the replacement process which was very helpful. I just need to make sure that my direct deposit is coming to the right account. I had set up another account while I was using the temporary card and I had to change it over to the one with my name on it. But the company is reliable. I'd definitely recommend NetSpend.

So... I was excited to get my new personal card. I am linked to my friends account and have a personal one. So we made a 3000+ deposit... All good! Then we transferred my 6000+ tax refund to the card... That did it. This was in April. The company gave us a run around about the funds will deposited in 3-5 days for over a month and in the process of us checking the balance every few days. At that point they had us build up over a hundred dollar negative.
So then we were sent a new card to transfer the negative to because that card couldn't hold that amount of money and they are putting the funds on this card! And we finally got the new card in August! We get the card thinking we have our money back, not! They kept saying 3-5 days, again! Then fax this, didn't get it. Fax that, sign this, write this with your signature, and when they finally began to receive these faxes and get all the paperwork in, they went back to 3-5 days hooky. Then we get an attorney.
Now it is October and since the beginning of October it has been pending! They said the account would go from negative to 0 and then again 3-5 days the funds would be deposited! Nope! It did what they said and now it says balance unavailable deposit pending every day! And has been doing this since like the 7th of this month!! Now it is the 20th and still the same dilemma!! Still no money, and this was April to still! They said a day ago it would be deposited by the end of the day, and nothing! Now they're giving my lawyer a run around and he is getting fed up!
We have lost our car, which made us lose our house, which stranded us in another city where our job is now on hold, I'm 7 MONTHS pregnant and have 2 kids. I will never use this company ever again ever!! I was so excited, but for what? Nothing! Because taking this money and still playing with it has destroyed our stability and crashed our life! And still no answers and still pending!! I just want to relax... This is too stressful to date. :/

NetSpend is horrible to deal with, if you never have to deal with them don't bother. Yes, you get money sooner but a lot of banks do, Navy Federal pays out at the same time if not sooner. I have had problems with my direct deposit. In which money was deposited and I went to my employer's bank to see when they sent it out, just to find out they sent it with receipt at 10 am. I did not receive it from NetSpend until 10 pm. Now I have an dispute in which my account was debited and I didn't authorize it. And they are telling me it takes 10 days to MAYBE get a "provisional" credit because an initial investigation has to be done, but the way they explained it was they do a full investigation then give you a credit once they know they will receive money back from the company they let rob me. So the provisional credit is really just my money back.
This is ridiculous, I know small banks that give a credit on the same day. Why 10 days and their dispute team does not call you or have a number for you to call them, you can only email them. Overall my experience has been terrible, I'm looking to just go with a credit union. I will continue to tell other about my experience, in hopes that they don't get treated like this. A few of my co-workers and I are all ditching our NetSpend cards. It's just not worth the hassle.

I have had my NetSpend card for a few years. I don't hassle with banks due to bad experiences. However, I love the fact that I have my NetSpend card. I get direct deposit and can use my money whenever I please. Whenever an error does occur customer service representatives ALWAYS resolve the matter right away. I am very pleased with their service most recently due to the fact that I was informed I would have to wait 10 business days for a refund. However, my refund was in my account only after 2 days. Talk about quick service. My money is always there when I need it most. Thank you NetSpend for having great customer service!

I've been a long-time user of NetSpend. I didn’t know much about debit cards back then and I thought of giving it a try. I'm on disability and it was easier and quicker to get my disability payments that way, and that’s primarily why I got NetSpend. It’s easy to use and I get a lot of perks. I make good interest on my savings with it. Transfers are easy, too. NetSpend works really good for me and I like the fact that I can access my account 24/7. I also get notifications whenever money is deposited or when I get a transaction over X amount of dollars. It's pretty cool and makes me sure I’m the one doing the spending. At this day and age, that’s really important and the security with NetSpend is really good. I had one instance about three years ago where something funny showed up on my account and they were all over it. Within 48 hours, it was taken care of and saved me for being hacked.
It's always been good with their reps, too. They seem to be pleasant, knowledgeable, and able to help me with stuff. It bothers me if the call centers were outsourced but other than that, the service is fine. I recommend NetSpend to people all the time.

On October 7th, 2016, I went to a SECU ATM to withdraw $300 on my payday and the ATM didn't give me the money but the transaction went through. I tried it twice. That's why it's $600. I went through getting the bank to find their error and they did so. I gave all the information to NetSpend and they will not refund or credit my money back. This was my money that I did not get proved by the bank and they still say they're investigating. I gave them the bank's phone #, address, and everything for them to call for themselves but they are not listening to me. I want my money back that I worked for. I used to trust NetSpend which is why I had my check go direct deposit but this is the worst experience EVER!
Updated on 10/31/2016: NetSpend still owes me $300 that the merchant credited to my account but NetSpend took the credit off my account so they need to give it back. The merchant has done their part and given NetSpend the $600 which was my original dispute amount but NetSpend refunded only $300 of it and won't give me and refuses to give the other $300 which is My money!! Below is my response to them after they refused. I will also attach documents of my account showing their reversal. NetSpend is a scam and I had to fight really hard to get the first $300 of My money!
The credit applied on October 7th has not been a part of my balance since October 7th due to the fact that the same day it was credited, the credit was taken back by NetSpend. I spoke with a NetSpend representative that same day and she stated that NetSpend took it back due to they had to complete the investigation first. So please look at my account and you will see that it was reversed. I am still owed another $300 credit. I did receive one $300 credit on the 24th of October but there is still another one so please correct your findings on the claim below.
