    My NetSpend account was closed a week ago, but NetSpend sent me an email alert today that my tax refund was direct deposited into the OLD account that was closed LAST WEEK! What am I supposed to do with the new NetSpend card that needs activated if the IRS deposited my refund in an account that was closed? The email by NetSpend says it was deposited into the OLD account, the account THEY closed last week! HOW do I log into my old account to be able to receive my tax refund if they closed it?

    I've emailed, highly upset, with ZERO response from NetSpend. What do I do? I depend on this money to SURVIVE every year! I'm so upset I can't see straight. If NetSpend sees this, PLEASE let me know what to do to get my tax refund. I just want to be able to log into my old account or new account and have my refund there and available to me. I've never had this problem before with NetSpend. Please HELP me. I'm tired of hanging on to the phone for a half hour just to be auto hung up on trying to fix this. I just want my tax refund! Thank you.

    With NetSpend, I get my direct deposit sooner. I'm able to use the card pretty much anywhere, but there are things that I wish I could do with it but I can't. Also, when I call in, a lot of times, it's hard to understand the people with their accent.

    Do not get this card. You buy the card and when you go to activate it, they will not allow you. They tell you they have restrictions and put you on hold forever. There is no reason and no resolution. They proceed to tell you 20 business days to send you a refund check and never do. Complete Crocks. Buyers beware.

    I wanted to put my money in a direct deposit basis so I got in touch with NetSpend. Since having their card, my money comes a little bit earlier which is convenient for certain bills that I need to pay. But I was trying to do Uber and they won't take the card. They said they do not take a prepaid issued card. But overall, I really enjoy the experience with NetSpend because they help me with all my financial needs.

    NetSpend seems to work better than RushCard because my daughter had the RushCard and it was giving her problems. I like how NetSpend gets the pays two days early. However, I don't like how I get charged for having withdrawals. Also, when I call, I'm on hold for too long. But other than that, I'm going to stay with NetSpend. I use it for my direct deposit and my other account for other things. It's easier for me to pay the bills and get them out of the way. I had a dispute before about someone withdrawing money from my account online, and they took care of it without a problem. I appreciated that.

    This was the worst experience that I have ever had with any banking institution. I was blocked out of my account because of a deposit and a login failure. NetSpend then closed the account after I correctly answered the security questions. They then told me that I would have to wait up to twenty days for my funds to be sent to me. Great fraud response to a non fraud situation. I should have stayed with my old bank!

    Did not enjoy the NetSpend experience at all. The card had been lost in the mail (provided they actually sent one out) and was never recovered, so I had to contact the company to get a replacement. That was the one positive experience I had. The woman who I talked to over the phone was very polite and got things sorted out quickly. Once I got the card, I was promptly charged $5. This was a complete shock to me and I later found out that there was a monthly fee for using this card and you couldn't combine it with anything else that would cause it to go over the limit (such as a gift card or second debit card). I ended up spending a lot more money than I wanted to in a month because I wanted to avoid getting charged again. It's my money, so I really don't think extra charges like that are necessary (ATM fees are also charged, but that's standard for any card really).

    These things need to be better explained to people wanting to use the card so they know what they are getting into. I completely recommend not using NetSpend debit cards and caution anyone who decides they want that, especially if they want their tax refund to be put on a card and sent to them. If I use a tax company that gives me NetSpend as the "faster option", I'll just patiently wait for the government to send me my check, since I'm betting that will still be faster than me getting another card. Definitely not making that mistake again.

    NetSpend is the only account I have, so I use it for everything. I use the direct deposit option, and I like that I'm being paid earlier. They've been good to me for the most part since 2008. However, the ATM fees are ridiculous and I can't find a single ATM that I'm not charged.

    I have had zero issues with my NetSpend card. I get my paycheck direct deposited to my card and usually get my pay 1 to 2 days before payday.     I recently changed my prepaid debit card from another provider to a NetSpend Prepaid Visa Card and I couldn't be happier! I love the fact that I have the option to put some of my money into a savings account that pays interest too. I have my payroll check Direct Deposited and I set it up so that a fixed amount gets transferred from my debit card to the savings account each payday. How great is that? My Direct Deposit even goes in two days earlier than my actual payday. The monthly maintenance fee is very reasonable and in fact is much cheaper than a conventional checking account. Also, any questions or concerns I had were answered quickly and professionally. I can't say enough about how satisfied I am with my NetSpend Prepaid Visa Card. I highly recommend it to anyone that's thinking about getting a prepaid debit card. It's definitely the best card out there!

    I have found that by changing to the NetSpend Debit card I have consistently experienced excellent customer service, and since my total retirement income received from Social Security benefits is so meager, I truly appreciate the immediate release of those funds when NetSpend receives them from the government. Having to wait until the 1st or 3rd day of the month that the government SAYS to release them on is a very large problem when they have all been used to pay living expenses by the middle of the month, and the earlier posting NetSpend does really makes a difference.

    I like NetSpend because there is no limit on your balance in the account and there are low fees if the account is overlimit. I can use my card wherever I shop or when I buy gas.     I had a NetSpend card years ago for tax refunds and I liked it. It was convenient, and I hadn't had any problems with it in the past. Recently I've been having problems with my bank (it's been 3 months and they still haven't sent my PIN for my atm/debit card so I can't withdraw money for rent and such), so I got a netspend card as an interim solution. I'm disabled and don't have any transportation so I have a hard time getting around. Because I'm disabled and raising children, my income is extremely limited - below poverty line.

    If you direct deposit at least 500 dollars it turns your netspend account into a fee advantage plan for that month but it doesn't really seem to make any difference - you still pay an awful lot of money in fees just to be able to spend your own money. If you have to make withdrawals it really starts adding up. Using the netspend card sparingly for purchases, and making roughly 3 withdrawals a month was costing me around 30 dollars in fees. I'm now looking into other, more cost-effective solutions. I'm sure the fees on this card are fine for someone with a budget that isn't as tight - but for me, 30 dollars is too much to lose. 30 dollars is at least 3 to 6 days of meals and that makes a big difference during the month. I'm not very happy with this card at all.

    Had a dispute with a company I wasn't a customer of. Netspend refunded me the money that was taken from my account. A month later Netspend took the money back from my account and refunded the company back the money. Netspend claims an investigation was done and said I lied about everything (which I didn't). Netspend didn't bother to see if I was an actual customer of the company and I still have no proof till this day from Netspend that an investigation was done.     The Netspend card charges for everything. You can only upload a certain amount on to the card. It isn't beneficial for me in any way. It was a Christmas gift. After using it a few times and getting the annoying notifications about how much I spent and how much was left, I realized it wasn't worth the hype. So not waste your time or money on this card. You might as well have a regular bank account because they take out the same fees and cost about the same.

    Your company sucks!!! In fact no stars should be your rating. I have been a long time customer of NetSpend and the one time I have a problem it took forever to resolve it and in fact you all didn't resolve it. The company that the issue was caused by ended up giving me my money back. I asked for a provisional credit, none was provided and I was in financial dire straits. Your company didn't give a damn and I had to deal with your outsourcing which meant every person I spoke to barely spoke English.

    You need to hire people in America to deal with customers in America instead of being cheap and having your customers deal with people who don't understand English and can't help and are rude on top of it. I am getting rid of this card and I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I'm going to take the social media and will tell everybody that would listen how bad of a company you are! To reiterate, your company NetSpend SUCKS **!! And should be driven out of business because get people's money but it don't stand behind your zero liability claim and when your customers need you, you just don't care!

    I have been a NetSpend customer going on eight years now. Even though I am often offered bank accounts through banks I prefer my NetSpend account. The reasons are simple: there are no hidden fees ever. I am aware of how much it costs per month, how much I will be charged when I use an ATM, etc. I get reliable service (my account has never had a problem) and great customer service.     I like NetSpend very much, and I haven't gotten into any problems with it at all. Sometimes, I'll have a very big one, like a tax return, put on that because I get it faster and they're good. I work at Waffle House, so I have my little check and it comes on there, too. It's easier for me to keep my money on my card because when I have cash, I'm going to spend it, and I also have bills that I pay online. Their team is always very nice. I would just normally ask for a text when I get my check so I could pay my rent, and when I call them, they're very courteous. I'd recommend them to anyone who's going to use a prepaid card like what I do.

    I recently purchased a prepaid debit card from NetSpend sponsored by Visa. When I got home and tried to activate the card that I put $300 cash onto, I was told by a supervisor in very broken English that I had to email a copy of my driver's license and social security card to some unknown address. I purchased this card to pay the electric bill because my bank account had already been hacked. This company is attempting even further fraudulent activities.

    NetSpend was convenient before. I could get my money a little earlier but the hard thing is I can't take money from it and put it in my other bank account. Another inconvenience is trying to get to talk to someone from them. I'm Hispanic and when I call there's language barrier. I feel like when someone speaks to the public, they've got to have their P's and Q's on and speak good English. And it was frustration on the other side of the other person. I use the direct deposit more frequently. If I would like to do a reload, I cannot reload because they're no longer here - it closed down. No letter. No change of address. I've referred a lot of friends. My son, his friends and everyone else are on NetSpend but it's bogus that if you refer a friend, you get something. Very dissatisfied with NetSpend.

    Buying your debit card was by far the worst decision in my whole life. Trying to activate this card gave me such a big headache that I'm thinking about going to the police about this. First off let me state that I'm only 17 years old and had a guardian beside me over the age of 18 trying to assist me with this. Even the store employees where I bought this card from was trying to assist me to the best of their abilities and noticed how awful this company is. I called exactly 8 times and took me a total of 3 1/2 hours to try to just activate my debit over the phone and it was still not a success. Every time I called it was the same woman who picked up constantly who kept asking for very valuable information to a minor that would never be needed for a debit card.

    For example these idiotic ridiculous questions I was asked to just activate a debit card was social security, birth certificate, bank account numbers, was I a U.S. citizen, all of my life documents for a DAMN DEBIT CARD!! I am not making a bank account. I am just trying to activate my 100$ debit card. But on top of that when I ask to speak to the manager the woman asked why I wanted the manager, which I in response said "you're giving me a headache, I don't want to talk to you. Give me your manager." Then she said NO. It is against the law to deny someone the right to speak to the manager on top of that repeatedly ask a minor for his life documents and ssn. So I got frustrated and hung up then called again. Got the same woman again, so I immediately asked for the manager. She said NO.

    So I got pissed and demanded for the manager and she told me she'll transfer me to him. I was on hold for well over an hour. I hung up called again and boom same woman once again. Does one person run this whole company? I hung up and called a few more times. It was the same woman every time! This is ridiculous. I am completely fed up with this. I have just been scammed. You guys can take my money but will not activate the card. You guys literally made it impossible for me to use this card. I even asked for a refund and was told I will have to wait 10 business days for the check to come in. First off I don't have a bank account to cash this check to. All I wanted to do with this card was to just buy a 6 ft stuffed bear online for my gf birthday. That's it. I don't have time to wait 2 weeks. This is an awful company. I'm going to the police with this.

    I have a NetSpend Control card and now have the regular NetSpend card. I had to get a regular card because my NetSpend card was lost and I needed to be able to transfer my paycheck to a different card which is a whole other situation all in itself. NetSpend deposits two days early in the middle of the day versus RushCard which deposits two days early at night. The extra $10 in case I go over is a benefit.

    The customer service for Control cards suck. I've had two instances where I've had the card reported stolen and they still allowed charges to go through. It turns into an argument every time and it's horrible. It’s like they don’t want to do their job. Then when I call them about it, they want me to write a letter trying to get a provisional credit. I shouldn’t have to write any letter for anything. It's reported stolen. I’ve been hung up on by customer service reps who are totally disrespectful. I had filled out a survey in the corporate office. I have a contact there when the customer service department can’t seem to get it together. I’ll give them the opportunity to do their job.

    Yesterday, suddenly, I got two emails and said two NetSpend cards of mine reported as lost and asked me to order replacement online. At the beginning, I thought they were phishing emails. However, at today, I found my online banking was totally disabled and then called NetSpend. Over the phone, I was told my accounts were closed by NetSpend due to abnormal activities (All what I can think is I made few small amount transfers (less than $10) from my Chase account to NetSpend account recently).

    When I asked for what I can do for resolving the problem, CS rep said I need provide indemnity letters from each single bank which I used for transferring the fund into NetSpend checking account. Before receiving the indemnity letters, the fund in the NetSpend checking account can not be accessed or released. Since it looks like the CS rep did not have more details which can help me out, I request to talk to supervisor on this matter. However, after I hold the line for over 1 hrs, I was disconnected with nothing.

    I have been with Netspend for over 6 months. I cannot remember which exactly accounts I used for funding the NetSpend checking account or how much were funded from each account. Even worse, I believe some of accounts I used for funding were closed already. I have no idea on how I can get the indemnity letters from banks I currently do or do not have any account with. At this point, I am really no idea on how I should deal with this matter.

    I have been with them for years. I recently got married. Maiden name still on my account, at my job my married name. Received message's pending deposit contact Netspend. Call them, get an accurate fax number because the one online no good. Finally get the right fax, send in all documents while I'm on the clock at work. Still giving me the runaround - everything good, id not clear enough. Resend that have to wait another 6-8 hours to process. Ridiculous. What job would post random money to an account. And furthermore the time gets for a name change is unreasonable. They already charge 50 just to check your balance. After they do release my funds getting a real bank account. Never again will they get my business... :( :(

    I have been a customer with Netspend since I was in the Army in 2001. I use this for my direct deposit and most of the time has had excellent customer service and have referred several family members to this service. Unfortunately, someone made 2 fraudulent transactions one for $700.99 and the other for $476.99 on January 13, 2016. This day, they cancelled my card and actually put the money back into my account. The next day, I saw these 2 transactions process again. I filed a dispute and the rep disputed the wrong transactions. I finally got them to dispute the correct ones a couple of days later and no one has been in contact with me and I was bounced around for hours, and now days, hung up on and put on hold where no one would pick up. I now only have $1 in my account unable to feed my family.

    Updated by 06/28/2016: After getting a refund from a hotel vendor today, sending the email to the documents email provided by Netspend customer service it still takes 8 hours for docs to be viewed let alone get my refund. $744!!! Heeelp!

    I've had the NetSpend card a little over a year and do very well with it. I've had a few customer service issues while dealing with an unauthorized charge on my card, but they eventually came through and made things right. Be prepared to deal with a Customer Service Department that mainly answers questions with a script and can't really help, but are very nice and will try their best to keep you as a happy customer.

    The only recommendation I would have is make the early direct deposit at a definite time. When you live paycheck-to-paycheck, and don't know if your paycheck is going to hit at 10 am or 10 pm can be somewhat frustrating. It was always an a.m. deposit until a few months ago, so maybe it's a staffing issue. My Payroll Department has it into NetSpend every Wed. night, electronically, and I've never gotten a clear answer as to why there's no rhyme or reason to when it hits my account. I would highly recommend NetSpend if you need to keep a very tight leash on your spending!

    I frequently shop online and I use the NetSpend account. It's convenient and I don't have to worry about getting into other money I need for other uses, like bills. To manage my finances, I have a portion of my payroll that's direct deposit to NetSpend so I know what's left every week. Using the reload service is easy -- going to my contacts, putting in a dollar amount that I want to transfer to them and it's a done deal. I'm trying to get my family on board as well and help them understand how it works.

    I did have one incident where there was a fraudulent activity on my card. I'm in West Texas and somebody had got a hold to the card number somehow. Either way, it got up there in Farmington, New York so I called immediately and had the card transaction stopped. They also told me how to submit the claim. I got another card and I haven't had any activities then. Apart from that, all the other experiences I've had with NetSpend have been good.

    I have a disability and I went to cash my check, and a young lady told me about NetSpend. It's like a bank - I can keep up online how much I got and what I'm spending. One of the benefits is the easy access to my money, and I've been able to use my card to make online purchases or pay bills. I don't like to be around people, so it's very convenient. I also use the direct deposit feature, which is very easy. I just signed up with the social security department and it goes on there every month. Their team is very knowledgeable and helpful.     NetSpend makes managing my finances more convenient for me. I don't have to run in and out of banks. My income does direct deposit and everybody accepts the card. The only problem I ran into was with rental car places. They say they'll take NetSpend but once they see it they won't even though the money is automatically used once I swipe it. Moreover, NetSpend gives me the overdraft and they say I've got 30 days to do it but when I do they still cancel me for using my overdraft. I'm supposed to get cancelled out if I haven't deposited after 30 days but if I'm depositing before 30 days is up, I shouldn't be penalized. Outside of that, It's perfect. Overall, their team is friendly and I've dealt with some good people. I've had a couple of little run-ins where instead of transferring me to a supervisor, they'll hang up, but it's not too much of a problem. I like the card and a lot of people I know have them.

    These people are absolutely ridiculous. I would NEVER recommend this card to anyone. They charge a fee of $1.00 every time you use the card as credit and $2.00 every time you use it as debit (on top of a monthly fee and a fee to call and check the balance). I don't know how the hell they are getting away with this!!

    With Netspend, I can never bounce a check. I can always check to make sure what my account balance is, and I find it a lot easier. They protect me from overspending. The only thing that I don't like is the monthly charge but I understand. I wished that they had more availability for ATM. Also, since they charge a monthly bill they should, at least, give you free ATM use. But their direct deposit option is a piece of cake. Every time I get paid, it goes right on there. You can't beat that. Moreover, whenever I've called, reps were very friendly and courteous. They tried very hard to make sure that they took care of whatever my needs are. Netspend is everywhere and it's great.

    I've had NetSpend for three years and I thought it was good to have separate money that I can use for bills without being charged if I went over like a normal bank account. Therefore, it's easier to handle bills. Also, if I had a dispute, it's easy to put the dispute in and they'll take it over from there, credit it in my account until they find out the root cause of what happened. I've called them a few times and each experience has been good. Their customer service is good and everybody's nice. I've referred other people to NetSpend as well.

    Purchased card to make an online transaction. Gave personal information except email address and they finalized my card with a limitation which means I could not make online purchases nor take money out of an atm. THAT'S WHY I FREAKIN PURCHASED THE CARD. They could not reverse the limitation and only offered a refund to mailed to me 20 days later. Also tried to make an in-store purchase and was still declined. I am too frustrated and want to call them everything but a child of God. This is a terrible company and I am going to post a bad review on all social media sites and with the BBB.

    I'm having the process of paying back my regular bank account in order to get rid of NetSpend. I find them to be very fraudulent and manipulative. I did employee and social security benefits using them. It’s very easy to spend money with NetSpend. However, it's just that when they process the transaction, they’d probably be able to change debits and credits onto their system. I honestly believe that I’ve lost a lot of money with them.

    NetSpend is a con. Every time I call customer service, I hear the same voice over and over. They've taken me on hold for a series of times and hung up on me. They have swindled me for about a hundred dollars by upgrading the same cards or not informing me correctly about the features of the cards. The supervisor dilemma is one heck of a mess. I’ve even researched where the company comes from. That’s how frustrated that I’ve been with NetSpend. I had to catch my soft side. It is not worth it. Moreover, NetSpend is a manipulation because it is only available for people of low income and who have bad experiences with regular banks or are afraid of banks. If you do understand other features like what Chase is offering with their Chase liquid account, with the prepaid Chase alternative, NetSpend would not exist any longer.

    I decided to sign up with NetSpend because of its link with PayPal. I know that I would be backed with fraudulent transactions so I'd rather go with the brand versus random prepaid cards. I like knowing what my balance is, the transactions that go out and gets completed, and waiting for a bank to post stuff to my account. Using the card allows me to balance my life better because I'm not overspending and I'm spending exactly what I have in the account. It's also very convenient to pay bills or purchase online.

    I use the direct deposit with my job and I like that I get my check earlier than I normally would. I also do deposits for my kids. If they're somewhere, I can load the card, give it to them and be able to manage what my kids are spending. NetSpend's reload locations are super easy to find - any CVS, Walgreens, most grocery stores and Wal-Marts which are right around the corner. When I had an issue where I was scammed with a cruise line, NetSpend paid me back and the dispute I filed was closed.

    I've lived with NetSpend for years, been using it for direct deposit, and it's very easy and convenient for me. I recommend them to everybody all the time. It's a card I use instead of banking. I get my money before time and I love that. I also love the fact that they send me text messages so I could keep track of how much money I got and don't go over. They're terrific and if something goes wrong, they always fix it right away. I also pay my bills online with it although I'm not big on online purchases. I don't plan on switching to any other company.

    I signed up for direct deposit and after the second time of my money being posted. Someone stole my information and made 2 purchases totally $545.00... The company will not replace the money. They tell me I have to wait up to 90 days. The customer service dept is no help. They only hang up on me and when I ask for the dispute dept they gave me a fake number 18553069960. Alex, Alexandria and Armada at Austin TX office were very unprofessional.

    I got NetSpend because a girl friend of mine had talked about them quite a bit, how she enjoyed getting her money early and how she had used them for a tax return at one time, and then put her paycheck on the NetSpend card. Now that I'm with them, I enjoy getting my money early too. I also enjoy that I have a direct deposit and get my $5 monthly bill charged to it instead of having the no transaction fees, so for individual transactions I would get benefit. I've used my NetSpend card to pay bills. I call them and pay online with my card that way, so it's great for me.

    I did have a problem though when somebody went on to my account and changed my email address there, and so with access to it. It was disappointing to know how easily somebody could do that. I had to have my account info changed, but later on somebody else got it changed again. So I canceled that account that was having a problem and reopened another one, and I have not had any problems since then.

    My experience with NetSpend is great. I get my paycheck two days earlier. I use it for everything: bills, online purchases, hotels, car rentals. It's very convenient. I use direct deposit and every once in a while reload. The reload is easy and there is one right down the road. In addition, I've had good experience with their team. They have good service since the beginning. However, they don't have an option to get a hold of an operator.

    I purchased a NetSpend card from Walmart on 01/08/2016. I tried to activate the card online but was told that the card could not be activated. I called the phone number that was given to find out why and was told that had to send in a copy of my social security card and birth certificate before I can access my funds that I just uploaded to the card to pay a bill that was due the next day. After going back and forth with the customer service rep I asked for my money back and was hit with I have to pay $4.95 for them to send me a check for money I just uploaded to the card. Never again!!

    NetSpend offered low fees that's why I set an account with them because I had just moved and needed to get direct deposit right away. Some of the benefits of having it is paying bills online or over the phone, managing my money so I don't have to pay late fees, or budgeting my money so I know what bills need to be paid. I also shop on Amazon all day long with my NetSpend card. I love how they tell me how much money I got every time I spend money so I could keep up with their account. It's easier to manage my finances because if I don't have it, I don't use it so there's no way for me to go over my money. That's better because at least I know what I can and can't spend. I love that I don't have to walk into a bank when I needed help. Moreover, I have direct deposit that works for NetSpend. I've had it for at least five years already. Since the first, they have always had it set up and I've never had to change anything.

    In addition, I've had a couple of times where my card had been stolen or when someone had used my card without my permission. NetSpend helped me right away and it was solved the same day.     With NetSpend, I get my check early. I don't have the hassle with the bank fees, and no overdraft. It's more convenient. I'm accepted all over the United States with it. Paying bills or making online purchases is not a hard process. I just give them a card number and they accept it right then and there. I may go into a place and add money onto it but other than that, I just use the direct deposit nine times out of ten.

    I've been using my NetSpend card for the last 5 years and I've only had one problem: Someone got my card number and I was disputing charges and they wouldn't let me get my credit line card back. Their team answered each and every one of my questions, and the only problem I have with them was about the dispute. But other than that they have good customer service. I have recommended them and I got a couple of people at my job using it now.

    I got tired waiting on the paper check to see if I got it deposited so I decided to get in contact with NetSpend. I've chosen them over a different prepaid card provider because they don't have all the extra expenses.     I've had NetSpend around 2014 and had no problems with them. I'm in a shelter now because our house literally burnt down and it's hard to do my finances, so it helps a lot that I got direct deposit which is easy to do. I'd go down, put the thing in and they'd give me the paperwork in whatever I had to do. In 30 days, my money was going straight to the bank. That's the only problem I have with them and I know they do it for protection in case somebody gets your card.

    Also, they put a $200 limit on how much money you could take out from the ATM machine for your protection. Every time I check money out, it costs me five dollars - $2 or $3 plus another $1.50 in the store. I have another card that I give a different check on and I could take $500 out at one time which helps a lot. If I got to pay bills or if I need money, I'll need to go to an ATM machine maybe 3 times which costs me $15 that I could get out on the other card. That's the only difference.

    But other than that, I like NetSpend. Their team has been courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. I had a problem with them once when somebody in Connecticut got a hold of my number on my card, charged $40 for the gas and ate dinner on me. I think it was close to $100. But the NetSpend team took care of it and got my money back. I wish that they would put my picture on the card which they did with my other card because then, you can't get these guys that walk passed you pick up your name and number, and print out a new card.

    I was given a reloadable debit card as a gift with $50.00 as the beginning balance. After an absurd amount of difficulty and excessive information required to activate the card, I made one purchase for $25.81 at which point the remaining balance dropped to $0.00. The customer service representative and his supervisor were both unwilling to do anything. The person that purchased the card as a gift spent $50.00 for me to enjoy a $25.81 benefit, and the miserable pieces of human debris running Netspend extracted $24.19 as what can best be described as a fraudulent business practice. Since the amount of money involved is not worth hiring an attorney to sue this organization, they win this round. I hope someone out there eventually has the time and resources to file a class action lawsuit to bring to light the practices of this disgusting organization. I find it revolting that HEB would have anything to do with this organization.

    I decided to get in contact with NetSpend for the direct deposit from the treasury. It works well, it is secure and it is a very easy process. Also, I have been using my NetSpend card to pay bills and make online purchases. I’ve been able to manage my finances better since using my NetSpend card because I can easily see what I already spent and what the balance is.

    I had a bad experience a long time ago. I had two NetSpend accounts and I threw away one of the cards. My social security was supposed to be deposited and it wasn’t. I called social security and they said they sent the money to them. NetSpend first argued with me, and I told them not to argue with me because social security says they got the money. We’ve come to find out NetSpend deposited the money in the old account. I don’t know how they did that because social security did not have an account number for the old account. They didn’t have it. I got it straightened out and I said they need to transfer that money to the right account. They gave me a little bit of trouble about that. They said they couldn’t enter anything over a thousand dollars. I hung up, I called them back, and I said, “Transfer it now.” They did. That’s the only bad thing that I had and it’s never happened since then, so I’m happy with it.

    I use to have a direct deposit account with NetSpend but after an unauthorized transfer of my hard-earned money and numerous failed attempts to resolve the problem all corporate had to say was it was my fault the transfer was made. I kept explaining I in no way made such an authorization. All in all I lost 4 thousand 9 hundred and fifty dollars. Since then I've learned never to trust any financial institution with my hard-earned money. Instead I've kept it in cold hard cash tucked away and out of the states. No not at a bank somewhere safer and away from the states. So for those who are considering in using NetSpend don't. Your money is not secure there. Go to your local bank and either put in a savings account or in a safe deposit box at the bank. It's not legal to have cash in a deposit box at the bank but by the same token it is not legal for the bank employees to go in the private room while you're going through your box. Just an idea.

    I've been using two NetSpend card. I get direct deposit on one and then move my money to the other. I get earlier pay and it's very convenient. However, I used to be able to move my money from one card to the other on the internet, but the last time I tried to do it, it keeps saying that I can't do it anymore because my limit is up. It doesn't cost money because it's free when it's done on the Internet but that stopped about three months ago. Now I have to do it at an ACE check-cashing place and it costs me $12 to do it.

    I called to activate what was packaged as a debit card and was shocked to be asked for my address, phone number and - wait for it... Social Security Number. Needless to say, I am not an idiot, so I didn't give them the info. When I reminded the rep that I was activating a GIFT CARD (deception), she said the info was mandatory. I naturally asked for her SSN and place of residence - fair's fair, after all. The agent, Rain, claimed everyone gives the info as requested. I asked what is NetSpend an affiliate of? That's privileged info, she claimed. I asked for a business address. Top Secret!

    Needless to say, I am launching an investigation as this is deceptive marketing and puts people at risk for identity theft. I will be investigating this to the fullest extent of the law. Although it does say 'not a gift card', it is positioned with the gift cards, and as far as I know, most people do not transact banking by choosing institutions at Rite Aid. On New Year's Eve.

    I have never been lied to and misguided more in my life. I had a paycheck of $1000 deposited into a NetSpend card on 12/7/15 and it is now 12/31/15 and I have yet to receive my money. I have spoke to over 10 reps and now a corporate rep and every one of them has told me something different. The corp rep just told me google my question and refused to answer me. I really don't know if they will ever release my money and am now thinking I have to get an attorney involved. This has caused me lots of problems financially and they have made it more than obvious that they don't care. Whatever you do, don't use a NetSpend card! They are crooks!

    I've been with NetSpend for almost 10 years now. I've appreciated the quick/early deposits and this is the primary reason I've stayed with them so long. However, I just recently had an issue arise and their customer service was absolutely horrendous. I spent 1hr and 6 minutes on the phone with them and still ended the phone call with no resolution. They have my account locked because of issues on their end and I have to wait until their email to another department to unlock my account is processed within 24hrs to have access to all of my money.

    It just doesn't make sense to me that someone in customer service cannot unlock my account immediately. It feels like they are outsourced in the call center and are really just there to answer basic questions, but real issues have to be forwarded or emailed in this case to the actual people who can help. Any attempts to speak directly to the people who can help are rejected. There is no one at corporate that you can speak with, but only a generic email address. I'm being patient only because I have no choice and my attempts to get higher up in their phone system is rejected but I promise if my account isn't unlocked by this evening, I will file formal complaints everywhere possible.

    At the time that that I signed up with NetSpend, I didn't know any other prepaid debit card providers. Additionally, I'm not a fan of Walmart and NetSpend was the one that I was looking at. I strictly do direct deposit with them. Also, since the company has the app available now, I could manipulate things a lot better and it's fairly easy to do that. The one thing that doesn't work real well is the text notification. It shows it's activated, but I don't get the text messages. It would be helpful if those came in, but it's not earth-shattering.

    Since using my NetSpend card, I’ve been getting my SSD check early. And if I’m short a few dollars, I’m able to overdraw it into my next check. That’s a benefit. I use the direct deposit more often because the reloading option is too expensive. However, my recent experience with them wasn’t good because they put a stop to some money that was refunded to me through my insurance. And because it wasn’t the same amount that was swiped originally, they didn’t release it. So I went through all this extra paperwork to prove that my insurance put it there even when I explained that it came directly from my insurance. Despite this, though, I’m satisfied with NetSpend.

    I tried several times to get an account set up, as required, for free online access. They charge for personal help in checking your card balance and expenditures, etc. After 2 days of trying to get the card activated and online access available, am still getting the runaround. Every person I spoke with spoke with broken English but said they were from Austin, TX. Not sure of the truth of that statement. No one seemed to understand letters and numbers in English with repeated attempts to clarify. Finally after two days card is activated but they want to charge me a $9.95 a month fee for use of the card. Still no internet access. Get the round robin effect when trying to do that and am so frustrated at this point, considering giving my husband the card back for the hassle it caused.

    I asked for a callback from customer service but no one has called and I am sick of trying to mess with this card. I have had these cards before from different companies but this one is ridiculous. Go elsewhere for your gift cards, this company makes it difficult to even use it. If I could give the company a zero rating I would!

    Where does a person start? Oh yeah the video that they have on ConsumerAffairs. You guys are kidding with that video, right? Every person that was in that video represents none of the people I talked to at NetSpend, not one! The people that I talked had that Middle Eastern accent going on, like most customer service operations do in this day and age. A person cannot comprehend what they are saying without saying, "huh" at least once after each sentence, sometimes twice! Everybody in that video that is shown on Consumer Affairs speaks perfect English.

    Now let's really have some fun! I received a refund to my account from a merchant online that has been in business 3 years longer than NetSpend has. Within I would say 2 hours after receiving the refund my account was put on hold! I managed to pay my power bill out of the refund money and fell asleep like a dummy. When I woke up my account was on hold. This all happened on the 18th of December. I have spent several hours on the phone with NetSpend customer service and NetSpend "supervisors" since then to the point where I told them, "I am not using foul language and I am not yelling. I am not hanging up until I get my problem resolved"! They will "please", "sorry", and "I understand" you until you just cannot handle the broken English they use anymore and want to hang up or they will flat out lie to you to get you to hang up. Funny how I did not read about being lied to in the terms and agreement anywhere!

    I think perjuring yourself is illegal, at least where I live it is! I have made several hundred purchases from a foreign merchant. Every single one of them was approved by NetSpend and I was charged for every single transaction that I made from NetSpend also! Before I even started making international purchases I phoned NetSpend and asked them if I was okay using my card for international purchases. This is what they told me, "Your card is approved for international purchases Mr. ** but understand each time you make an international purchase it is going to cost you $4.95". I said that would be fine. I had read the terms and knew they were going to charge the $4.95. What I did not know though and what they do not tell you is they still charge another dollar for every international transaction as well! Funny how that works isn't it? Other people doing whatever they want with your hard earned money!

    After making between 50 and 100 purchases I needed to return some items for a refund and all of the sudden my account is on hold! Mind you this is all the money I have for Christmas for my family! After making several phone calls to no avail to NetSpend, not sleeping for two days from being sick with worry they still will not release my funds! They can easily do it but will not! They paid my power bill out of the money so the money is good. Nowhere is the real clincher. In the mean time I get my work paycheck direct deposited into my NetSpend account so I think I am just going to have to last minute shop for the kids is all, nope! They are also holding the money from my direct deposit! There has got to be something illegal with that. I have been getting my check direct deposited for months with no problem. They even guaranteed that I would have my check funds released by 5pm on the 23rd! Totally lied again!

    I tried to use my card for groceries at Walmart online and it got declined yet again! Back on the phone again for two more hours and a bunch more lies. I wonder if and when I get this resolved if I am going to be charged for all the declines I have been getting from this! Yaaaay double money for us charges and the interest they are earning off my money! The only thing holding my money up is they say they need a letter of indemnity from the merchant in question. Problem with that is it has to come snail mail to be official. Meanwhile my Christmas fades to black. Does anybody know what indemnity means? Security or protection from a financial loss or burden! From a merchant that has been in business 3 years longer than NetSpend!

    I guess I should have gotten a letter of indemnity from NetSpend before I started letting them handle my money! I am going to do everything in my power to let people know what a scam NetSpend is. Please do not do business with these people! THEY ARE WORSE THAN THE PEOPLE WHO USE TO RUN A COUNTRY IN EUROPE BACK IN THE 1930S AND 40S! Chuck Harris should step up and save my Christmas and quit hiding behind his customer service people and making them do all the cheating and lying for him!

They keep saying that I owe them, but they don't know who the merchant is. I paid the money up in their store when they called me for being late. I haven't heard from them since. They moved and lost the information probably because they were sloppy. The girl that worked there told me that they lost a lot of documents there. People that she knows paid, NetSpend is telling them that they didn't pay. But, I can show them the bank statement that they owe the $1300 that they took from me.     If I could give them a negative star rating, I would. This card was purchased for me as a gift card. I was told I needed to SEND IN proof of citizenship and SSN. Outrageous! You don't even need to do that for a mortgage or car loan! None of this information is advertised on the packaging so you know before you buy it. I told them cancel the card and send a refund for the preloaded balance. They tell me they can't since I already tried to activate the card. Shady, thieving business. Don't give them your money!

    When I found out that NetSpend would pay me earlier, I signed up. It's a lot easier than getting money orders. I was the old guy that got money orders and took it to the water, the gas and the electric companies and my whole afternoon is shot because I'm running around doing errands like that when I can do it in 5 to 10 minutes on the computer. I used to be afraid to do things online because of all the hacking, but once I got over that, it's much more convenient. It is also secure and I haven't had anything happen. One of the only times I had to call in was when I was trying to reset my password online and I cannot because I entered my birthdate incorrectly. I asked their reps to see why it wouldn't let me, and once they verified my birthdate was off by a digit, they corrected it. They were really nice.

    I've been with NetSpend for years now and have recommended them to friends. It's like any other debit card except that I get the direct deposit two days early. One time, I used the card and somebody copied the numbers or did something to it. I had a whole bunch of stuff on my account that I didn't pay for. So I called NetSpend and they said that all of these accounts are pending and they can’t do anything until they take the money. I thought that they would freeze it or not let them in. They let whoever it was into the account take everything, and then went after them. They took care of everything. It was upsetting but that was years ago. And after that, I've become more careful as to when and where I spend my card.

    I chose NetSpend because of the recommendation by my friend in Texas since he can get paid up to two days earlier than what would be with any other prepaid debit card when it comes to direct deposit. And that looked real well to me because I’m always looking for a way with my money to be spread out and make sure I spread it out enough to where I still have money left over when the next money comes in. And I’ve had no problems with NetSpend except for a couple of times where they’ve made mistakes like this last month when I ended up making an ‘add money’ to my card, they put at a purchase, and then I had to be on hold for about an hour while they were trying to fix it up.     My experience with NetSpend has been satisfactory until Dec.12. My debit card was used in Jamaica Queens and I live in Suffolk County. Your security system needs a lot work. My girlfriend got charges and withdrawn from various places three weeks prior also. In all, my debit was hacked for $400+. WORK ON YOUR SECURITY. I understand things need to be investigated but I have to wait 10 days for some form of resolution. I am cancelling and recommending people don't use this prepaid card.

    I purchased the card on 10/31/15. I tried to activate the card on "Cyber Monday". It was supposedly real simple. After some input and a brief hold, I was prompted to enter the last 4 of my social. The card was frozen, and I was asked to call another number. Then called and they were closed. Day 2 I called, and after a lengthy hold, I was asked to verbally confirm some BS, then asked to email photos of my driver's license and social security #. Absolutely not gonna do it!

    I went back to the place that sold it to me to get a refund. The rep said it was frozen. And asked me to call NetSpend. I told her to call her retail assistance contact at NetSpend and dial-in as a retailer. She confirmed there was no discrepancy with my information, and again asked me to call NetSpend direct. If my info is correct, then why am I being forced to provide ID? Enough of this. I asked for a refund. I was asked to come tomorrow so that DM could email request to NetSpend to cancel card. Day3 I was told there wasn't yet a reply, and come back. Day 4 NetSpend claimed they didn't receive email. Retailer showed me email, along W CC chain of copy. Retailer then had to contact another DM, after hours, to once again start process. Day 4 and finally got my money back from those villainous thieves!

    I filed a dispute back on 11/03/15 for I went to withdraw money from an atm us bank in the amount $203.00 including the $3.00 fee. The atm never dispersed any funds since I am not a member of us bank. I needed to file the claim with netspend. The manager of the atm verified I never received any funds and provided me his card info to help with my dispute. After 10 days netspend released the $203 in my acct and on 12/09/15 they reversed the amount saying after the investigation contacting the people of the atm showing the money dispersed when it never dispersed to me. Netspend did not contact the manager to verify anything which I have been on contact with since this issue. He verified he was surprised he has not been contacted. Only the atm contractor which is poor investigation on netspend part. I clearly stated in the dispute the atm showed the money dispersed when nothing dispersed at all the door closed.

    They are trying to keep money I never received which is fraudulent on this credit card co. When calling netspend you get the run around from people that hardly speaks english and repeats themselves over and over. I spoke with a supervisor yesterday 12/09/15. She advised if I had the number to the manager she would call him on a conference call. I did not have at that time for I was driving. All that info was in my claim. Not sure why she couldn't see it if she was a true supervisor. She did advised if I call back to request a supervisor she will have all this documented in the notes. When I request this there is nothing in the notes. The csrs comes up with excuses and avoids to transfer to a supervisor and when they do transfer you are on hold for 30-45 minutes. I think they hope you hang up. All I want is my money. Who do I need to contact to get this resolved?

    I chose NetSpend because they had a flat monthly fee and I only pay $5 a month. It helps me keep track where I'm spending my money so it's easy for bookkeeping. I don't get out a lot so I can pay or order online. I send it through my PayPal account. My NetSpend is through my PayPal account, so it works easily for me. I use Direct deposit and I recently did the check load which is pretty cool too. Since I get checks a couple of times, it's charging the same amount of money as going to the bank to cash it or withdraw. I have recommended it to a friend.

    I am very displeased with the fact that my account has been put on hold 3 times! Not 1, not 2 but 3! I'm not sure if it is an automatic process or what but it's getting annoying. They claim they put my account on hold due to "refunds." Any online business is going to have refunds...That should not be a factor in putting someone's account on hold. And it wasn't even a refund from a customer it was a refund from a merchant I was dealing with. We had to cancel 39 orders due to an error. I also just verified my account with Paypal and the money PayPal deposits in your account for verification apparently also counts as a "refund." What kind of madness is this?

    I cannot run a business with Netspend. I was making them tons of money per day, and the least they could do would be to give me some type of account manager I could talk to. I'm not an average consumer. This is not how you treat high volume customers that make you thousands per month. "Netspend Premier" sure! At this point I'm taking offense, and it feels like they are trying to steal my money. There's nothing premier about having my account locked 3 times. It's never ever happened to me when I used other banks. I'm this close to just switching over to Bank Of America Business because I can't deal with this. Now I have to put my business on pause because of them. Not cool. Money down the drain.

    Tried to put money back on my card they were holding for three days. They asked and received verification from merchant to release my funds. Some of the agents lied about receiving and finally one agent said documents were in my file. The next excuse was they had to review my document. My point is what is there to review when the merchant is asking them to refund my money because of a company error. Please think twice before dealing with these people unless you like giving away money. Can't wait to see what other excuse they will have on Monday. Please don't do business with these people, scammers!!!

    Received email and texts concerning pending deposit. Responded to email and phone calls, emailed documents requested, waited the specified time to resolve delayed deposit and still no satisfaction! Each time I called, I was told something different. I have been a loyal faithful customer for 14 years and have never experienced and lied to like this before. When this mess is straightened out, I'm closing out everything with Netspend associated. No one should ever have to go through all of this bs for their own money!!! If you ask for a supervisor, there's never one available to speak with, what kind of mess is that?

    I haven't had any problems with NetSpend. I have had the card for about 6 months and it's really easy to use. I use it in addition to my bank account to help save and manage more money. I don't have all the extra fees everyone talks about because I use direct deposit. They take a $5 monthly fee and that way I don't get charged $1 here & $2 there for all my purchases. I get text alerts so I'm always aware of my balance. There's also a mobile app that lets you load a check to your card. And you really do get paid 2 days faster!

    When my card stopped working, I contacted Netspend and they sent me a new card. Their reps were friendly and that's important. Setting up the direct deposit was easy. Now I’m not having to run halfway across town to cash my pay check. It makes a huge difference because I don’t drive. I'm thrilled with Netspend.

    It's been seven years since I contacted NetSpend. I use the debit card a lot and put all my direct deposit there. Also I reload it, too. With NetSpend, I know where my money's going or if I'm going to overspend or if I have enough in there to buy something. And I use the alerts a lot. They also have overdraft protection, which is great. My daughter has a card when she was working, and she told all the nurses about it. They all went and got NetSpend cards, so they like them, too. I like the convenience of it. And anytime that I've had a problem, it's always been taken care of in a decent amount of time. They're very courteous and I like using that card.

    So I have been with NetSpend for about 2 years now. I use them for all my purchases, and bill pay. I've never had any issues what so ever or complaints, till now. I called customer service today to ask some questions regarding my direct deposit. Not being rude but I could not understand the representative what so ever, so I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was on hold for 55 mins to finally reach a "supervisor", that I couldn't understand either. I asked her if there was a corporate number that I could have to place a complaint, and she said no that I have to email NetSpend.

    So I sat on hold for over an hour between both representatives, to not get my original question answered. But to be told to email NetSpend if I have a problem. Well yes, I have a huge problem. Your customer service reps, "supervisors", and wait times suck. I've never had a worse experience on the phone. I definitely will be looking into closing my NetSpend card. If it's that difficult to handle a simple issue, I would hate to see how things go with something serious. I work too hard for my money. I wish I didn't even have to give it one star. It was that bad. I never place complaints either but this had to be done.

    With NetSpend, I can pay my bills online, don't get charged by signing my name because I had a plan and can take so much out. I utilize the direct deposit for my daughter's government checks. The only time I had an interaction with the NetSpend reps was when I reported a card stolen and they were very friendly. I recommend NetSpend to anybody that are having problems with their banks and overdraft fees and tell them to get one because you could always spend what's on there and you don't have to worry. I love it and tell everybody about it.

    I have had too many bad experiences with this company and it's always the run around or a foreigner. I have a charges made to my account on numerous occasions from other states, delayed direct deposits and no resolutions. I'm currently waiting on a call back. This company needs to be shut down. It's just too many mishaps. I wouldn't recommend this prepaid card to anyone.
