It’s worth having the NetSpend card. I know exactly what I have because it's prepaid versus a credit card that charges me exorbitant fees if I went over and I work within that budget. Then when I use my card, it gives me an alert. The communication is very good between the client and the bank. I also love that I get my government check three days earlier than everybody else. However, the fees vary from 7-Eleven to 7-Eleven. Some of them will only be $2.99 and some will be $4.99. The fees could be cheaper but they’re not exorbitant. Other than that, everything is smooth and I'm very happy. I like my NetSpend card and I don't think I'd have any other card.

I've used NetSpend since 2004. They're good for sending my taxes and my payroll. I have been with them for so long that at one point, they didn't charge me $1 every time I use my card. Then, when I got a new card, they started charging me again. They also wiped out the premiums then they charged them back again. I like the service, however, it changes a lot and never stays consistent.
I had a complaint the first part of the month where they paid two things that came through my account for $101.12 and $101.51. Even though it said from two different companies, it was the same company. The first guy I talked to told me that they could stop the payment but I had to call the company first. He gave me the phone number and told me what to ask for. When I called the company, the lady said she had no record of me so I kept digging. I gave her my card number and she said she still didn't find it. So she went in another way then came up with the order and asked me if I lived in Long Beach. I said I didn't so she said she found an order number that paid for $101.12 and $101.51 but it said Sharon ** on it. She gave me the address and all this other stuff then told me that she'll email me all that information. She then told me I could file a complaint a couple of days later but the payment was still pending.
So I called NetSpend back and told them that it's unauthorized. I asked them to stop the pending payment and not to pay it but they didn't do that. They kept asking me about the products but I told them I didn't get any because I didn't order them and my card was used without my permission. But they said they had to pay it because they got a pre-authorization code. I told them it was a fake code but they still paid it. So I had to fax all my stuff to them, the operator number and information that I got from the company. But if that was my bank, they would have put a claim on it, stopped it and reimbursed me within the hour.
Now I'm waiting to get my money back. But in the meantime, this situation derailed my bills that came through the card to be paid and two of them got sent back. NetSpend also told me that they're going to send me a new card. So I have the same account number that allows my Social Security and my payroll to continue to come to the new card. But they paid out something that they could've stopped and I didn't like that at all. And that's not the first time but the second one. The first time I didn't get my money back and if they don't give my money back this time that's it with NetSpend for me. They told me by the 10th I should hear something.
Other than that, I've never had problems paying my bills with my NetSpend card. And I started doing automatic payments because they do better than the bank. If there is no money, they charge me no fee. But when I have an unauthorized payment to something and they won't correct it, that's my problem. It shouldn't be a problem because there's so much technology now. Also, they're not saying and in no way guarantying me that they'll give me my money back because they said they have to get it back from the company first. We caught the thief before they gave the money to them and they're going to give it to them anyway then ask for it back. I don't think that's going to work. So I'm not happy with NetSpend right now.

Very dissatisfied with the customer service. I had money pulled out of my account on a card that I had reported lost and you guys left active. Well I reported the withdrawal done without authorization in a minutes of it happening. I explain that I had just done a transaction in my hometown and 7 minutes later the transaction in question was done in a town 3 hours away driving distance. Well they gave me the story that they had to investigate. I said what is there to investigate if the transaction according to the rep was done on a card I had reported lost and that NetSpend kept it active. Well they were real rude and when ask to speak to a supervisor on 2 occasions they left me on hold for almost 2 hours and never came to line. This is very disappointing because you guys treat the customer as a suspect instead of a victim. The transaction was done on December 9, 2016 and I'm yet to have any response.

I initially got this card because at one point banks would not give me a checking account. I always loved the getting paid early feature. At my last job it was 1-2 days before. With my new job I get paid a couple of hours after payroll is processed. Even though I currently have a checking account, I still have the bulk of my pay deposited to my NetSpend account. Getting paid early is a beautiful thing.

I don't like carrying money on me in particular now that I'm a senior citizen. NetSpend debit card is better than a credit card in my opinion. There's no interest rates or late fees or hidden interests. I love the ANYTIME ALERTS especially if the card is STOLEN I would know where the card was used and when. If I want I can obtain more than one card having the choice to use one for loading and use when shopping and the other as my primary account debit card which I can leave at home.
The fee to reload is much less than interest paid for the use of a credit card and credit history isn't rated. I like the ease of use since the debit card is accepted everywhere I go and is also a method of keeping me within my budget. Customer service is great in every request I have made and have never failed to have a solution to any problem I've had. If NetSpend wasn't available many people wouldn't have convenient use of an affordable debit card and would have to purchase money orders which can become more costly than loading fees. I'm grateful to whoever thought of NetSpend Debit Card.

I have had my card since Sept. 2016. I can't say enough great things about this card. In today the Banks have so much control over their NSF fees that it is disgusting. They will charge you 30.00 for .10 or .15 cents short. NetSpend doesn't at all. Plus they give you 24 hrs to put money in your acct before they charge you. If you do, then No Charge. You get your direct deposits way before time that the banks did. I will NEVER go back to a town bank again. I will ALWAYS use NetSpend as long as they keep treating customer like they do. Thank You NetSpend. You are truly a God's send.

I'm a disabled veteran and I only get a certain amount a month. I didn't see any sense in opening up an actual bank account because every time I get paid, it goes to my kids and my rent. Getting NetSpend is way more convenient and they have a limit but I never go over that limit. They also have good security features on my account so I don't have to worry about it getting hacked. And if I have problems with money getting fraudulently charged, they take care of it. Every once in a great while when I absolutely need to I do direct deposit. I know they're there and if I ever come up across cash and need to put it on my card, I know I can do it.
I've filed a dispute with them involving Xbox where I messed up and thought it was a fraudulent charge. I forgot that I charged it months before and they took care of it. Xbox and NetSpend worked together to fix it so it was awesome. Initially, Xbox wasn't working with me. I had to keep pushing and pushing and finally, I got it taken care of. NetSpend took care of their stuff right away and gave me all the information I needed. It took a little bit to find out what department I needed to call but things went smoothly once they got me squared away. It's an easy service.

I have sent every item, and more, they have requested to verify my identity and they still say it isn't enough. I am going to try and get my money refunded but I find it strange that on the back of the card it says to contact GREEN DOT for refunds. I didn't purchase a Green Dot debit card, I purchased a NetSpend debit card. Has anyone gotten their money refunded? If I don't, who can I contact about getting my $450 back? The police? Don't ever waste your money on these thieves.

I had my NetSpend card for over 4 years and had never had an issue. Had direct deposit so I was never charged and in the past year I had fraudulent things going on with my account. They never once notified me. I would receive the text alerts and get new cards when I would see something wrong and all of sudden they decide to cut my card off for good and not tell me then told me I couldn't have another account like it was my fault and I've never had an issue with them. I called to ask why and they said due to the issues as if it was my fault and finally sent my check after almost a whole month had went by. I am angry with this company and wouldn't recommend anyone to go with them again in life even with all the referrals I've given them. I told everyone to cut their cards off with them.

On December 5, 2016, I went online, logged in and reported my ** debit card was stolen and needed replacement. That part was very good since the computer did all the work. Well, no card was mailed to me until December 29th, 2016 where I was made to pay a late fee for rent, late fee for phone, had to borrow money for my monthly bus pass. So from Dec 5-Dec 29 it took NetSpend and multi calling and searching for a NetSpend TEMP card, that I am giving you this POOR rating. If you had (-) ratings then I would go pick that instead. NetSpend costed me $125 late fee on rent, $35 late fee on phone, and borrowed $70 for bus pass since it took 24+ days to get a replacement card. Now with the new card, I have about $8 left on it for the month.

The Netspend PrePaid Mastercard is very easy to apply. It is also easy to get deposits like pays or earnings and tax refunds. I have also paid my bills using the account and routing number. The major drawback to this type of account is that you pay for everything. You can be charged a fee to deposit and also fees to withdraw funds. Everything is a cost. Also, if you have ongoing payments such as rental cars and storage payments you will be charged more and have to wait for a refund of extra fees. Please weigh your options with these types of accounts. Also, if there is a problem you must create and forward your dispute in writing. The fees are the main drawback here.

I like the card I got, and since it’s a debit, whatever I got I'm able to spend and I can't spend more than I have. I could use it anywhere, too. In fact, sometimes we go out of the country and I can use it there unlike other bank accounts where I have to call them first to let them know where I'm going to be. Paying bills was also convenient and using direct deposit is easy.
My only issue was that last month I sent an email to ask about a 10 cent charge on my phone. I didn't recognize what it was, but it turned out to be a foreign transaction. Whenever I told them about it, they didn't call me back to discuss. They said it was a fraudulent transaction and went ahead and blocked my card. But since I was thousand miles away from home that time, I had no money to get and I could have no way to use ATM. I was driving a truck and I had to wait 10 days for them to send me a new card. It would have been nice if they called me first, discussed it and asked me if I wanted to block the card, so I would have time to get money off of it. So that was a bad experience. In fact, it kinda got me looking around see if I could find another bank account somewhere but right now I can't. But I like NetSpend and it's been pretty convenient. Other than the issue I had last month, never really had any problems.

I have been a NetSpend customer for years, since 2011. I love the purchase cushion option. It's great for emergencies when you really need the money or low on fuel. The refer a friend program is nice too and with that no one loses. You are given a 20.00 reward for referral and your friend once they activate their card with 40.00. There are other features of the card like the payback rewards I haven't used but all in all I appreciate netspend, and the CSR are friendly. Hope to see more incentives in the future.

My sister introduced me to the NetSpend card and I decided to get it. I read the terms and conditions, and the program they offer, and I liked the card. I use it to pay my bills and make online purchases. It's easy to use their reload locations and direct deposit option. Using my NetSpend card saved me a little bit of money on transaction fees. It's a pretty good card overall however I had a few bumps in the road with Netspend.
I used to have it to where I could overdraft a lot until a girl lied on me and took money out of her account and transferred it to mine and I got it off my card and gave it to her. And then she called the company and said somebody stole her card. So she put me in a compromising situation where NetSpend banned me from their services except for the card that I do have, and once that card's gone I'm banned.
Another issue is they allowed other consumers to delete money from my account without permission because someone did some kind of online purchases that I didn't make and they didn't refund my money. I think it was also her who did this because she has my information, such as my name, Social Security Number, date of birth, and everything that she needed to gain access to multiple different accounts I had, not just with NetSpend. So I had to fight this out, go to the government, and put an ID alert on my information. Every time somebody uses my card or any of my information, I get an email about it now.
Netspend doesn't do its investigation properly and doesn't side with the customer even if the customer is right. If they do their investigations correctly they will see that I don't create fraud. They could take my personal and criminal history, and see that that's not in my lifestyle. I want Netspend to unblock me and let me get other cards. I need to open another card from time to time since I might need to utilize and share money that I don't have on the card at the time until I get my direct deposit. They know that my direct deposit has been coming to that card for the last 10 years, so there wouldn't be an issue of me paying them back. I wouldn't try to run for $20 or $50, and I've never done that.

Paying $10 a month is a lot cheaper than paying $2 for each swipe, and that's what I like about NetSpend. Additionally, I get my check a few days earlier through them. I also like that I get the notification on the phone of how much I have left in my account. It calculates everything for me so it’s a lot easier for me to manage my money. I use my NetSpend card to pay bills as well, and it's very convenient. I also use their reload location at H-E-B and the process is very easy. I just give them the money and they swipe my card and then the money’s in there within seven minutes.
I used the NetSpend site and e-mailed them for a transaction. I was getting my money back and to have them put it in my account as soon as possible, and they did. NetSpend is a great debit card company and I love it. It’s user-friendly when it comes to online accounts. I've been using it for almost three years, and I won't stop using it because I like it a lot. It’s a lot better than having a bank account.

I was traveling a lot for work and my Credit Union card either kept getting compromised or I would have these issues where even though I let them know that I was traveling, they would put a stop to my account while I was out of the country because I couldn't always answer the phone on their fraud calls. And so, one of my friends recommended a prepaid card just as a safety measure because NetSpend's network seems to be a little bit more secure. And when you call and let them know beforehand that you're gonna go out of town, that's fine. And so, that's how I ended up using them.
I designate a specific amount that goes into my NetSpend account every pay period and it just stays there. Then I use that card if I'm gonna be at a gas station and I wanna protect my other ones. I also use it to pay a few bills. Then their system also allows sending a cashier's check to someone or money order with a lot less hassle. Because I travel about three days out of every week for work, I can't always physically get something. I have my grandmother in an adult daycare program and I pay for it. I don't like writing them checks from my regular account because it takes them a long time to cash them. So, I send them a cashier's check and I can do it straight from my NetSpend account. But I don't use it as a financial management tool. My mother is a president at a Credit Union and so she manages my finances for me.
Whatever their system is on the back end allows for transfer to happen. If I transfer money from my Credit Union account or my E*Trade account to NetSpend or if I get a reimbursement for my travel from work if my job processes it in the morning, it happens in record time like pretty much overnight, which doesn't happen with traditional banks. So I use it for convenience.
However, their customer service is where I have my problem because they obviously have an outsource model for their call center and support center, and they're not good at dealing with gray areas. It's difficult dealing with them at any capacity. And even if you ask to speak with a supervisor, they're just not empowered to do anything. I purchased something online around mid-September and the commitment date from the vendor was that I would receive it within 10 days. After 10 days, I didn't get it. I sent a communication to the vendor and there was nothing. And then, I requested a refund--still no response. Of course, you have protection when you buy something online. So I went to NetSpend and told them about it and that I'd like my money. They made me wait 90 days because they said that they can't get a hold of the vendor, and the very reason why I wanted a refund. That should have been an automatic credit to my account.
But there was a situation where--I'm in the process of planning a wedding--and my mother wanted to pay for my dress. I got my dress in France and I was over there. So, she went to a place and loaded the money onto my account 'cause there was no way for her to transfer it from her account to mine. That was $14,000 that came in and that was a tax issue. So, the fraud department or compliance department from NetSpend called me from Austin headquarters. And they were like, "Hey, we need you to confirm what these funds are, blah, blah, blah." So, I provided them all the documentation and the lady that I dealt with there was amazing. She was on it and she was in this country. It was easy to rectify that.
On their end, when they need something, they'll make sure that it's handled here stateside. But on our end as a customer, it gets outsourced and it's obvious that it's India. I work for Apple and I manage our call centers and so I know what that looks like. You're gonna get the runaround and it's not gonna be easy which is the reason why I only relegate it to very specific types of transactions. And so, there's the disparity.

I was looking for a debit card that I didn't necessarily have to go through banks and I was working at a check cashing place that promoted NetSpend at the time. It wasn't until after I got the NetSpend card that I noticed some of the benefits of having the card and I've pretty much kept it ever since. I get text messages every morning as far as what my balance is so it can keep me on track. I'm able to login either through the app on my phone or just through sending a BAL text to get my balance. It's been able to keep me aware of what my spending habits are, if any charges came through, if I was waiting for charges, and especially if there have been any charges that I didn't authorize to go through.
I like being able to not carry cash but also the fact that I get paid a little early before my paycheck hits. There have been a few times that I had to use the overdraft feature because I didn't calculate what was coming through correctly, which has been nice.
Once I've had some charges that I didn't approve go through. I talked with a representative and I wasn't planning on doing a whole lot of anything but just inquiring where they were from or did it say what it was for. The rep at that point of time cancelled out the card and I just had a deposit on the card so I won't have access to my money. It probably would have been easier for me to get in contact with the people who actually charged me and have the charges reversed, especially because I actually do business with them so it will be in their best interest to investigate to make sure that it wasn't an invalid charge.
I was upset at first so I asked for the supervisor and I was on hold for an actual hour before a supervisor got on the line. They advised me and if I knew someone who had a NetSpend. I told them I did and so I had to buy another NetSpend card to transfer the balance. Once I got the balance transferred, I was able to actually pull the money out of that account. I then advised them that from what the situation is, they should close the new account because I won't be using it and they should mail me a new card for the first account. They assured me that it was gonna rush delivery but I found out later on that it was not. When I got the new card in the mail, I went to go activate it and found out that the second account that I got opened just to transfer the money was the one that the card was attached to, which was supposed to be canceled and it wasn’t, so I was upset about that.
I finally got the card for the current account I wanted to keep and that I have right now. Then there were charges on there for transferring fees and so I was upset about that again. There were two representatives I talked to who calmed me down and helped me out. They reversed the charges due to the fact of everything that was going on. It was a big headache and a big mess and it even tempted me to not go or use NetSpend again if it wasn't for those individuals who I talked to lastly. I also found interesting that when I had an issue and complained, it took an hour for them to get the supervisor. But when I wanted to speak to the supervisors to give them praise because I was able to understand and someone finally helped me out after being frustrated, it was within five minutes.
There are still those people who ended up helping me out but I just wished that they would listen to the situation and try to help instead of telling me "You said this so that means this" type of thing because it's like they weren't listening to what I was actually saying. At any rate, I love NetSpend since I originally got it and I understand that everyone's not perfect. They did make up any mistakes or errors that were caused either by them or not by them.

I received a card in the mail from years ago and decided to use it for direct deposit. When I first signed up, I was told that the ATM would be free. Come to find out, that was not true. I am charged $5 to take money off of my card. So that one left me a little POed because it charges whatever the ATM charges. And then, NetSpend charges $2.50 for using the ATM.
I usually use it for my rent purposes by money order. When I went to Kroger recently, it was telling me that the form of payment couldn't be used. It was saying it was a credit but I told them that I'm using a prepaid card and I've always got money orders with it. I tried to explain it to the representative but he didn't understand. He said to buy money order online. If that's the case, then I might as well just pay my rent online. I don't want to go through an ATM because it's gonna charge me $5 per transaction and let me take out so much in one time. It's not gonna give me the $900 in one setting. I'm gonna have to take out $200 at a time and that's $5 charge every time.
I understood their security work for that. I used to work for Kroger and they used to have those things where people were using false information to take money from prepaid cards. They should just say it and not to beat around the bush. I'm fine with it. They said that it's not working and to contact the banker's side. I told them that it's NetSpend. So I called NetSpend's customer service and asked for a supervisor. It's ridiculous that you have to wait for a supervisor. I left the phone on for literally an hour and 30 minutes and then I hung up because no one came.
I'm trying to figure out if it's the system or if this is something that we can't do with the NetSpend cards anymore. That's all I wanted to know to make sure so I know which way I need to go as far as getting my money for my rent taken off a different type of way. But there's only one way I could and that's with ATM and $5 versus free of bank fees. NetSpend could use some work.

I can use it to make online purchases and pay bills. I don’t have to carry cash. I also like the text notifications and e-mail alerts when I use the card because that way if my card is ever lost or stolen and somebody uses it, I know exactly where they used it.
I have a lot of automatic things set up like Netflix and my cell phone bill, and sometimes I forget that that bill is coming out and it overdraws my card but I like the fact that NetSpend will do one transaction. They can’t overdraw and there’s no extra charge for my account being overdrawn. Also, I like the fact that we can get paid up to two days earlier. I have talked to their team last year about disputing an online transaction and it was taken care of and I was refunded.
I just wish that there was a way that my parents would be able to put money on my card without having to have the card present. When I started this job, I started putting my payroll on NetSpend and I’ve been with them almost six years now. I liked the convenience and the fact that my payroll was there two days earlier. Also, I get alerts that tell me when funds are being taken out and it gives me a constant balance. I use this card online all the time. I’ve called their reps a couple of times when I wanted to dispute a charge or I couldn’t get into my internet account and they've been helpful.

I’ve been with NetSpend for a few years and it’s been up and down with them. They have their quirks but I have my own issues with my finances because I’m a disabled veteran. They get me my money three days early before it actually hits, which is good. They have overdraft protection for up to $100, which I use every month. But in some cases, they cut the card off from me for three, four, or five months and then reactivate it. It's weird.
When I’ve had a death in the family, they did not help me. It was three or four days before it was time to get paid and I could not attend the funeral. I was highly upset with them as much as I was upset with missing the funeral. They wouldn’t even let me speak to a supervisor because this is the set rule. I said there should be someone with overriding capabilities who can listen to my issue and say that I've been a loyal customer for six years, that I've always got my money on time, that I've always paid whatever fees I had back up front so I should be helped. But NetSpend flat out refused.
Two months before that, I had a similar problem. My son was in the hospital and I was trying to get there to see him. I had no money, was not at home and had no transportation. I was stuck where I was. I called and asked NetSpend if someone can lend me $20 so I can either call a cab to get me to somewhere where I can get a ride or have access to one. They flat out refused and gave me the same spiel about the set rule.
They charged me a whole lot of extra fees on things, too. When I went to the casino and pull money out, I get charged $4 at the casino but then NetSpend also charged me $2.50 so it’s $7 every time I make a withdrawal. That’s $10 a shot. So if I withdraw two times and go twice a month, that’s $40 right there which is my own money. I’m gonna be avoiding them soon. They need to speak to their customers once in a while and ask how we're doing so we can send comments in. And they do send emails, but they probably stick these up to somebody else's rump and say that's lunch.
Thank you,
NetSpend

I just received my card and went online to activate it. I was given a message to call Customer Service. I called the activation number and still could not activate the card. I was connected to Customer Service, who told me that I could not activate my card because my address did not exist. Notice that I have had this address for 21 years, the bldg has been in existence for 30 years, the address was correct, and I received the card. I could barely understand the customer service representative because she had such a thick accent. She said all she could do for me was to send me another card, which will take another 7-10 days. I am so irritated, I don't know if this is even worth the trouble.

I am absolutely blown away by the horrible service NetSpend offers. NetSpend just recently started charging me $1-$2 PER TRANSACTION, and to make matters worse their customer service is unlike any I've had to deal with before. I've spent hours on the phone for a simple issue, which is always a hassle when I have no other choice but to call. NetSpend is a great choice for people who enjoy spending more of their hard earned money on fees that are "conveniently not mentioned". I do warn those who attempt to dispute a charge, they will ask you to provide all the information, only to tell you they won't do it. I'd suggest American Express Blue Bird if you're looking for STELLAR service and no hidden fees.

I get a disability check and I didn't want my check mailed because there are people ripping off the mailboxes. I went to some check cashing place and got the NetSpend card. They were charging me $9.95 for six months when it should only have been $5. They switched the plan or the rates somehow but they don’t tell the customer. I told them about it and they apologized and gave me credit for overcharging me. They could only do three months but that was still good.
I've used the card to purchase at Target and grocery stores, and I get updates on my phone on my account balance. It's also alright to reload money on the card but they charge you for that. Also, every time I get some money out, it costs $5.50. I always take all my money out ‘cause every time I go to the bank machine, I pay for the bank and I pay for them. Then the max is only $300 so that means if I want to get $900, I got to go $300, $300, $300 and it ends up costing me $15. That part sucks about them but other than that, they’re all right.

I opened an account with Netspend in 2010. At first I didn't like the customer service because I thought I was always getting all foreign people but they improved a lot. I like the card too because I get my check a lot faster once I set up the direct deposit, so we chose them over a regular bank. Since using the card, I was able to manage my finances better because I don't have to worry about check bouncing and they give me a grace period. I also get perks for purchasing, like 10% off. Making online purchases or paying bills online with the card was also very convenient and I also transfer money to my kid using the card. Overall, it was an enlightening experience with Netspend.

I sent the paperwork in and showed them all of the proof, including the screenshots off my phone, because it went directly to my phone how they did it all in one day that month. And then it went to a 90-day investigation. So, they said they would send me back my money, which was almost $200 worth. However, after the 90 day investigation, they sent me a $35 check. First, they said they'd give me $45, then it turned out to be $35. I thought before they were pretty good. I was with them for over four years. So now I stopped doing business with them.

Just who do you people think you are to demand a person's court sealed custody records without obtaining a court order first from a judge??!! Are you crazy?? He has $160 on that card he was given as a birthday gift and you can forget about that now. We demand a full refund immediately or we will be lodging a legal complaint against NetSpend for attempted identity theft!!
Updated on 01/05/2017: Okay, after I made my 1st complaint about NetSpend they graciously sent us a new card. And once again it was unusable. No Authorization & no way to recoup the $160 the card was opened with. All extreme documentation they requested was emailed to them as they requested it. I drew the line at their demand for my 16 yr old's sealed court custody orders. That request must be made to & allowed by a COURT JUDGE. So we requested & wait for the $160 refund that was put on the card and they ignore our request and keep the money. How does NetSpend keep getting away with that? Isn't this called FRAUD? I put alerts on both our SS cards in case of potential identity theft! Birth Certificates, Drivers License, utility bill with my name & address, Military IDS, SS cards and now Custody Orders?! FORGET IT NETSPEND. JUST REFUND OUR MONEY. WE DON'T WANT YOUR LOUSY CARD ANYMORE!

I have a list of emails back and forth with them. I did an online survey and someone from Texas got back with me. He was able to look in my account and validated my purchases and they gave me back my cashback for that period.
Second, if I get online and try to look in my transaction history, the website gives me an option for money in versus money out and fees so I can see the money in and I have the option to get the money out. But I can't even see the money out. And usually before, I can just go to my account and see all my transactions in list form, money in and money out all in one window pane. But if I go online right now I cannot see the transactions for months before. I called them about it and they said they can email my history...but I still haven't received the email and it's already been a month.

I’ve been with NetSpend for about 8 years now. I was looking to get a temporary card then and I wanted to do some transactions on the card where I didn’t want it to go directly to my bank cards. I got NetSpend for the debit card use and saw that they were the actual savings account that I can tie in, which has been pretty helpful for me. Then, they're really good with using the savings and being able to transfer funds from the savings to the card, or from the card to the savings. I use the direct deposit more frequently and the reload locations only for specific times especially when I want to load a certain amount for whatever reason.
Their customer service reps are usually good. I call in maybe once every 3-4 months, and they’ve been nice at those times. In general, I’ve been happy with NetSpend especially when I call. When I had a reason to call for different things that have come up or questions that I may have, they’ve been very helpful as far as informing me of things. I like the fact that they actually send me things in my mailbox. Having NetSpend has been a good situation for me for the most part.

We drew out the limitation sometime this year because my boyfriend was able to put out more for rent and it's limited to $200. The limit has dropped.
Our interactions with the customer service reps were fine and everything was taken cared of when I had a problem. However, I really don’t like the fees because we get charged every time we use the card and they even charge a lot. I do NOT recommend using NetSpend. We used NetSpend for our employees to receive their checks on a pay card. After an employee received a fraudulent charge, his card was immediately canceled and we were told to purchase another NetSpend card to temporarily transfer the funds. After 6 hours on the phone with numerous customer service representatives and managers no one could help us because they failed to listen to the problem and think through the issues. If someone would have done additional research from the beginning we would have not 2 other money cards that we tried to transfer the remaining funds from the canceled card.
The CSRs speak terrible English and follow a computer prompt of what to say. When transferred to management the calls disconnect or you are placed back in the original queue to get yet again a new CSR. This is my 3rd run in with their terrible customer service. We will no longer be using this company to provide pay cards for our employees.

I purchased a prepaid card for $500 in October, provided the requested information. They put the wrong address in, I told them I didn't receive mail at that address. The post office doesn't deliver to it. They then asked me twice to provide information which I did. Because they had the wrong physical address and because I couldn't provide proof of physical address because it was wrong and I can't get mail to it they suspended my card. Which I was not told would happen. And nowhere does it say it has to be a physical address to be able to use it. It says mailing address.
I have spoken to multiple customer service representatives which tell me it's taken care of and I will get a check for my $500. It is now 12/13 and I no check. Every time I call it spend at least 15 min telling another customer service rep what happened. They cut me off several times telling me what the problem is and how to fix it. When I explain it has already been done they give me a different excuse why it hasn't worked. I have spent over a hour on the phone today.
Finally spoke with a supervisor who assures me they will call me back, that is a first. And that they will try to send me the check. I have explained multiple times that UPS and FedEx deliver to the physical address. They don't send checks that way. They asked for a different address which makes no sense to me. How can I have it sent to a different physical address? I stay at home taking care of physically disabled grandmother and put money on the card for my kids' Christmas. Now I don't know if they will even get one.
I am extremely unhappy with their service but also their customer service. Either their representatives are not trained properly or they really don't care and just say whatever to get off the phone with you. Their mistakes and lack of explaining to me what was going on has continued to draw this out. I have expressed my concern that this is a scam and anyone I have spoken to on the phone has completely disregarded what I have said. I would highly recommend to never, ever give this company your business. If there are any problems they are not concerned with resolving them, just keeping your money.

I got informed about NetSpend when I first got my job and it had to be my direct deposit. With them, I get paid two days early, and that is a benefit. It's a nice card. However, I had to keep filing disputes because when I go to ATM machines, sometimes the ATM wasn't pushing out my money. I didn't know whether it was the card or the ATM machine, so I just switched over. But overall, NetSpend is a good place to be at.
Hello Damien,
Thank you for your feedback. We understand your concerns with being able to successfully complete ATM transactions. Unfortunately the ATM's are independently owned, if there is a malfunction we have dispute guidelines in place to aid our customers in retrieving their funds. We also offer over the counter withdrawals as a secondary option. You can visit a local bank in your area with your debit card and photo id and withdraw up to $5000.00, you also avoid the withdrawal fee's. If you have any additional questions or concerns you can contact us at social@netspend.com.

I received a new NetSpend package that had new card that says "direct deposit card activate" which I did. So on the 28th I call and ask what time direct deposit come on card. The agent informed me that it won't be until the 30. Ok I was fine with that. Then I find out on the 30th my direct deposit had been there all the time but on a different card then I had to pay NetSpend to place direct deposit on the card that they sent out to me. They put me in the negative so I could not use overdraft protection and I was told I would be able to use in 24 hrs - did not happen. I did get a ticket, break light was not working. All I ask them was be honest because all I got was lies. Driven to ATMs, driven to pull cash that I was told would be there wasn't.

I also have overdraft protection and I finally set me up a savings account. I just went through all of it because that was my grandchildren’s Christmas fund, and right this minute I am ordering all their Christmas gifts online from Amazon Prime and it’ll be here in two days. I also have direct deposit and my daughter has a card, and if we need money we just transfer money from me to each other’s cards. It’s done in under a minute. Four of us have cards and all we have to do is ask each other.

When I called NetSpend (two times within about 10 minutes of each other, same result both times) I was notified that while I had two cards under my name, they could not discuss either with me as I didn't have all of the information... the information I was missing was regarding a purchase on the account. And, on top of that, if I didn't wish to activate the card that was sent to me, I could have a nice day. I can only conclude that they are a phishing scam that should be avoided. Every other creditor I have called have immediately put me on the line with their fraud department to shut down accounts. I have a freeze on my credit now, so they won't get a dime from me anyway.

However, they had been good until they went and gave their call center and everything else overseas, and I’d much rather see the jobs here in America. Last week, I called NetSpend to dispute a transaction. The gentleman on the other end stated he needed to cancel the card. I hesitated since it was the day before Thanksgiving and I still needed to get a few things. He assured me THREE TIMES that I would still have access to funds. In the meantime, he'd send another card, which would be received in 1-2 business days. I didn't understand how, but he also said I could go to CVS and get a new card, and transfer the balance. Number 1: I did not have access to my funds after that, and I could not transfer funds to another card because THEY BLOCKED MY CARD!!!! I called back to see if I could get help, and lo and behold they were closed... Which leads me to believe the man was just trying to get me off the phone so he could go home. If it wasn't for other family members, Thanksgiving would've been ruined.
Furthermore, I find out Friday, that the man didn't even order a new card as he said he did, and left a message in my inbox on the NetSpend website. I call, and have one ordered, and the lady was very apologetic, but didn't even offer to expedite shipping the card, since the first rep out and out LIED!!! Checked my account, it said that the card was shipped on 11/25. However, I get a text message on 11/28 stating that the card was shipped and should arrive shortly. So I have been WITHOUT ACCESS TO MY FUNDS FOR A FULL WEEK!!! No way to pay my rent, or buy food!!! Potentially, I may have to pay a late fee to my landlord if the card doesn't arrive by Saturday. Since this all started with a lie, then the company should be responsible for what the rep stated in my first call!
I'm currently looking into getting another card, as the disputed transaction was only $10, and this is WAAAAY too much trouble for a measly $10. All the customer service reps say is "sorry for the inconvenience". Not being able to buy food is MORE THAN AN INCONVENIENCE. Not being able to pay your rent on time is MORE THAN AN INCONVENIENCE!!! How can you treat people like this?

When I did my tax before, I got my taxes sent to NetSpend card. They took the money on the card and I just kept it and never cut it off. NetSpend don’t charge overdraft fees. Their fees are straightforward, which I like, which we really don’t get with a bank. I have a bank account but I prefer my NetSpend card over it specifically for that reason. They seem to be honest and they don’t withhold any of my money. If I make a purchase, they don't hold the purchase, take the purchase away and put it back on at a later time. Also, I’m able to see my funds in real-time since I get text message updates every time I make a purchase and it shows me exactly what my account balance is which actually helps me manage my money better, which they don't do through a traditional bank.
With NetSpend, I get my money five days faster. I have had one issue though with one ATM where I can’t get money from it, but there’s another one across the street. Other than that, I’ve been able to use my card virtually anywhere. Sometimes I use the reload locations. But for the most part, I get direct deposit. It’s not something that I use frequently, but I know I can go to Walmart to do it. It’s not too much of a hassle. However, I can't transfer money from my NetSpend card to another person’s bank account that's why I do have a traditional bank account. I have to go inside the bank, have them swipe it as a debit card purchase, and then put it inside my traditional bank account to do a wire transfer. Overall, I like NetSpend. It’s a good card. I’m going to continue to bank with them for as long as they are open.

I started collecting Social Security and disability but there wasn’t too many options back then so I got NetSpend and that was the way to do my direct deposit. It was convenient to pay bills and make online purchases. However, one time when I used the card at an ATM, the ATM didn’t give me the money but subtracted it from my account. Most banks give the money while they do the claim, but they didn’t give me the money while they were waiting for the claim. Also when online, I had two to three times where one of the businesses took my money and I didn’t even know it. They just let them take it out of my account which is not right. They should make the person be aware that it’s a legit, agreed transaction by the owner of the card before they approve it.
I've used NetSpend’s direct deposit for the last seven years. They offered the overdraft protection which helped as a little cushion for me, however it got to a point where they said that I can no longer use it again which didn't make too much sense to me. I was a little disappointed and I am getting ready to not to use them anymore. I also don’t like that their rep is always foreign and I can’t always understand what they’re saying.

I will never do business with Netspend again. I lost my debit card last week and needed to purchase a prepaid card to pay a bill online. I purchased the card at my local CVS and loaded it. I called to activate and was told that there was an activation issue and I needed to speak to a rep. The representative proceeded to tell me that I had a negative balance on a card from 2012 and there was a restriction on the card. This conversation was held on Nov 16th. She said that it would take 24 hours after requesting a lift of the restriction to activate the card.
I waited until 5pm on Nov 17th to call back. This new rep, told me it actually took up to 48 hours and the request had been made but not yet processed. I waited until Friday evening at 7:30 to call back. A third rep, told me that could see where the request had been made yesterday (although it should have been made 2 days prior) and that it had not yet been processed so there was nothing he could do.
I asked that the call be escalated to a manager. The manager told me that he would send another email to the "back office" and ask that it be expedited BUT no one would be available to look at it until Monday because they don't work weekends. And that he would make sure there was a text alert sent when the card was active. Here we are, November 22nd, and I have not heard a thing.
I called to inquire and was told that an email needed to be sent to the back off to request the removal of the restriction. Something that was done last week, almost an entire week ago. At this moment I have no access to my funds, and no faith in it being resolved. I asked if the money could be returned to me via transfer to another bank or card and was told no. They can only close the account (that was never truly opened) and send me a check that will take anywhere from 10-14 days! I will NEVER spend another dime with anything that has anything to remotely do with this company and I will discourage everyone I know from supporting it as well.

I joined NetSpend thru Advance America. When discharged from war 9/11, the banks were stealing benefits. Then some of NetSpend workers were stealing from the NetSpend company. They were helping me but some NetSpend company workers kept stealing, then some Va Hospital workers got jealous and tried to steal all my benefits but the military service caution everyone.
So now you have veterans with benefits stolen. When NetSpend company was still working on fixing a problem, the same with the Military service they try, you have good and evil. We have to pray for God to show us which ones are GOOD AND WHICH ONES ARE EVIL, THE END. God bless you all for helping me and I'm praying for your company, you see both this company and military support has been my family for God's purpose, I'm the servant. He will use and many others, may God help US all, in Jehovah's blessing and In Jesus Christ name The Holy GHOST I pray Amen Amen Amen, Truth.

NetSpend is easier than a bank account. The direct deposit makes managing my finances better. The deposit by phone now makes it a lot easier and the biggest thing about it is more convenience paying everything, a lot of it over online or over the phone. You don't have to mess with anybody. You pay and you move on. I use Direct Deposit and it's a lot easy and you get it much quicker. The reload locations are easy to find, it's just easier all the way around. Their customer services are good. The phone gets answered quick and I don't have to sit at home forever. NetSpend has worked good for us for a long time. I'm very satisfied.

I just have one issue with the NetSpend card. Anytime I go to SuperAmerica gas station, I go into the store to pay for gas, it still comes off of my card. It's like I paid at the pump. That's not the first person I heard it happened to them. It's just at SA though. Overall, it's easy to use and easy to access.

With NetSpend, my personal information is secure. I have an incident where a magazine company sent me out its magazines and telling me that they were taking the money out of my card. So I put an alert on them because I never ordered any magazines, and that was good for me to do that. And when they had the loan program, I took advantage of it. But they cut it out.
I also have my payroll check being deposited to my NetSpend account. I've used the reload stations many times and it's very convenient. I called them when somebody felt they could take money from my account that I didn't authorize, and the resolution department handled it very well. Once they resolved it, they sent a mail letting me know what happened. And then one time, the company put my money in the wrong account. They missed a zero because I have a lot of zeros after the first number of my account number. It cost me to miss a funeral. It took them about four days to straighten it out, but they did. Most of the time the reps are knowledgeable and friendly. Sometimes I'll get somebody that I can't understand and I have to ask them to give me somebody who can understand and speak English clearly. But other than that, I have no problem.

Then I talked to supervisor, she didn't know what to say about how the customer service rep flat-out lied to me. She was speechless. Spoke with individual at corporate, he didn't care. Pretty much told me to take my money to the bank. I've been a customer for five years. After reading the real reviews over a hundred reviews talking about how NetSpend just takes your money and never calls you back. I guess they don't care about their customer. I am with a real bank now. It's just sad how this company treats their customers.

I needed a prepaid debit card to help manage my money and my checks and I liked NetSpend card and the program. I often use it for direct deposits and there's a reload location around the corner from my house. Managing my finances is a lot easier because instead of constantly going to the ATM to get cash for bills, I can just use my card. I have the online account and it keeps up with everything perfectly for me. If I ever have a dispute with a purchase, I call in, they handle it right away, no problems and it’s all good. To be able to pay my bills online is a very convenient process. It’s really easy and quick. I had referred my husband to get a NetSpend card. I didn't get my referral fee though.
The people at NetSpend are good. They were very nice and really helpful when I had to interact with them. They helped solve my problem really quick, so I didn't spend a long time on the phone explaining over and over, trying to get things figured out. I never had to speak to a supervisor or anything. The person just helped me right away and everything was okay.

I received the NetSpend card when me and my wife got our taxes back a few years ago and since she was working and getting paper checks it would cost us three dollars every time to cash it. So we started putting her checks on direct deposit through NetSpend and have loved it ever since. We have had a couple issues and when calling customer service they would take care of us in a fast response.
Only one time did we have a problem and that is when we did the 'refer a friend' promo and we both should have gotten ten dollars from NetSpend but that never did happen. We called them for three days straight on the phone for hours each time and they just would not do it. We even had the friend that we had referred standing with us when we called so he could give them his card number and info. but still nothing... That kinda upset me and almost made me change cardholders but I didn't just because I don't think they still understood what we was saying.
Anyway I love that I can only spend what I have but along with that I have the $10 over in case I'm a little low and they just take that back out when my direct deposit goes in without any extra fees! Thank you and we have enjoyed having you as our cardholder. The only thing I would change is if you could report to credit agencies so our credit would build up. Lol. Thanks again.

The monthly maintenance fee is cheaper to maintain my account through NetSpend. And so far, it's been terrific. It provides total convenience and I just discovered that I got the take back rewards. I had no idea that I can get money back for using my card until three weeks ago. The only con that I have recently ran into is not being able to transfer or add money to my account through another bank account. It should be opened up so that if I need to borrow money from a family member, they can just get money on my prepaid card through their Bank of America account. That will be nice.
I also encountered an issue when I ended up having five NetSpend accounts open. It took a couple of days to get that taken care of. The last guy I spoke to was able to help me and closed all the accounts except the one I was currently using at the time. But that seemed like a big hassle and I did 150 bucks on one of the cards. It was my mistake. I was renting a room and picked it on the wrong card. I called to get that money off of that and transferred to the card I had in my pocket. We ran into all kinds of issues. So I wasn't able to rent the hotel room that night, which sucks.
But other than that, I really like NetSpend. They came a long way and I'm satisfied. I feel pretty safe to their emails. They send me frequent emails and I'm expecting nothing to change. But it's nice to know that they keep me in the loop. I use NetSpend on a daily basis and I would recommend it to anybody over other prepaid cards.

I've had a NetSpend card for several year and all was fine with the exception of a few minor hiccups here and there. But then recently I started getting charged an extra $1-$2 for each transaction and didn't know why. I even accused a cashier of overcharging me. I eventually found out, by calling NetSpend that they had changed and decided to start charging per transaction. They signed me up to a default plan and not told me about any of this! Needless to say I stopped my direct deposit to NetSpend immediately and have not looked back. The lack of communication felt underhanded and that's something I cannot deal with. Bye NetSpend.

A few days later after I found out that my benefits were going to start, I called NetSpend and realize they had my ss# in error. By one digit! I corrected the error but then they put my account on freeze until I sent them documents to prove that I am who I am. I've sent over 5 emails all declining one or 2 documents.... this is ridiculous and they have my money and won't release it because of an error that their company made.
Now I know at least 5 people who uses NetSpend (that's why I thought I try it) and all of them told me all they had to do was give them their name, social, date of birth and address. So why are they putting me through this ordeal because of a mistake their employees made and I corrected them. I gave them a current energy bill, my ID, my benefits letter both from state and social security... I'm going absolutely crazy because our family needs the funds and now I don't know what's going to happen!!!!

I had a big refund coming and the IRS adjusted it, so I got the NetSpend card. I didn't know about any other type of debit card but the IRS recommended it, and I thought it was a good card. It's been pretty awesome with NetSpend. My card is pretty handy when I don't have cash in my pocket. I know my card will go through. I'm able to make purchases and pay things a lot easier with it. There's only one or two websites that don't take the NetSpend card and I'm not really sure why, considering it's a prepaid card and the money is already there. Other than that, I use it quite a bit. Since using the card, I'm able to manage my finances better, except for the ATM charges because I not only get charged $2.50 by NetSpend, but also get bank charges.
I use the location reloading because my place of business does not do direct depositing. Other than having to go and load the card all the time, it's pretty easy to use. Most drugstores, like CVS and Walgreens, now reload the card. There are direct deposits only when I have unemployment, when I'm shut down for the summer, or my short-term disability gets direct deposited to the card. I've only called the team at NetSpend once and that was because somebody charged my card when they had no business charging it, and were not authorized to do so, but NetSpend took care of it. I would definitely recommend NetSpend to a friend. In fact, I have recommended them and a couple of my friends did wind up getting them.

I am so mad I could scream. My wife is sick. She has been for a long time. Last Friday she was put in intensive care. Right now she is in a coma. Before she got this bad we noticed that this law firm hit us twice for $119 on the same day. They haven't done anything for us. My wife repeatedly told them to cancel, but they didn't. My wife said she would take care of it. She was feeble, and accidentally reported our card stolen to NetSpend when she just wanted to block this law firm. We asked what to do. They said to get another NetSpend card at Walmart and put it in my name when I activated it. This I did. Then they said I could transfer the money $597 to the new card. The transfer did not work.
I called today and the phone person could not help me and said she would transfer me to the supervisor. I waited 1 HOUR on the phone. This is very poor for a supervisor. What kind of business are they running? If you look at my transaction history you will see that I have made sizable deposits and withdrawals for quite some time and there has never been any issue until recently. Now they want me to provide power of attorney papers, this, that, and the size of my underwear, and I can see it is going to be a lengthy, drawn out process. All this while my wife is dying in the hospital.
What kind of people are we becoming? What kind of businesses are operating today? This would have taken 15 minutes when I was young. But the banks and these firms are not local because of the stupid globalists, and everybody is ripping off everybody so bad they have to make things so secure even their customers can't get in. I know most people don't have an issue, and neither did I - until I had an issue. Wait till YOU have an issue!

I never had a problem with NetSpend until I lost my wallet with all my sensitive information in it. While I searched for my wallet, I was literally on the phone with NetSpend reporting my card lost. I was told that my card was blocked and that I needed a new card to transfer the balance. Another representative helped me to do that and when my new cards came in the mail, he helped me to pick the one linked to my account. That all happened at the end of August 2016.
October 20, 2016 I received an email stating that my PIN was changed on the card that I had reported lost. I called NetSpend and was told that someone called in and tried to change my email and PIN then sent $68.35 to someone. I closed my account with them immediately and asked how was that done with a card that was canceled/blocked? I got no reply and was hung up on. After 2 attempts of calling I was sent to the Fraud Department. I was told to send an affidavit and wait 10 days for the investigation. The claim was denied because NetSpend said I never reported my card lost. I have yet to receive a call due to the correspondence only being sent to NetSpend's secure online message box which I don't have access to because my account is closed. I am so dissatisfied with their negligence and lack of customer service.

Netspend's prepaid card is very reliable. I could manage my money and pay for certain things with it, which is convenient. I could reload money on it when my money is running low and pay bills with it. I could automatically see my balance as soon as the money is placed. I also hook it up on my phone so every time I use it, it will pop up on my phone and tell me my balance. I can look over my money and know exactly what I'm working with. I can also see a balance every time I use it so I know exactly what my money looks like so I won't overspend.
I have three jobs that use the NetSpend direct deposit and so I don't have to worry about going to the bank to change my check when I get paid. They automatically load on my card and sometimes even a day early before the pay date. There are also two reload locations close to my house so when I have money I could just walk to go there and deposit it. And when I see something that doesn't look right, I will call them and ask questions to find out what's going on and they would look into it for me. So it's been a pretty positive experience overall with NetSpend.

It's a lot easier for me having a prepaid NetSpend card. I don't have to carry cash. Because if I have cash on me, I know I'm going to spend it. But with the card, it uses a debit or a credit card and I like that. Also, I don't have to get American Express or a regular credit card which would ding my credit. But the reload locations around here in my small town charges too much so I use their direct deposit only.
As for customer service at NetSpend, it sucks a little bit because if I go on vacation and I spend it in New York state, they put a hold automatically on the card. The first time it happened was June last year, when I went up north in New York state to visit family. They automatically put a hold and it was declined at the register. But before that, I went up in November to spend Thanksgiving with my family and no problem. I could go to Wal-Mart buy things.
When I got declined, I got a text alert from NetSpend because I had over $400 the day before. So I got on in Wal-Mart. The customer service rep told me, "Oh no, you don't have any money?" I said "Yes ma'am, I do. I can show you. I know exactly where it comes from”. Then she said they've put a hold in my account because I was out of the state. I asked "Am I supposed to alert you people to every time I'm going out of the state? So I can't use my money? It didn't happen in November but it happened this June".
She said she can't do anything and that they'll have to send me another card for my account because they can't take the hold off. That it will take another seven to 14 days. I said "Well, I'm on vacation. I'm not in Georgia, I'm in New York" and that really ticked me off. So I spoke to a supervisor and they ended up getting the hold off of my account so at least my last couple of days, I was actually able to buy presents and flowers for my family members. So it was stupid because here it said MasterCard or Visa and it's supposed to be good anywhere in the United States but it wasn’t. But anyway, I've still recommended NetSpend to several of my friends.

I called and spoke to NetSpend about a year-and-a-half ago and I spoke to a supervisor and he was very rude, very nasty and told me to never to use NetSpend again in my life. When I asked in detail of why I'm not able to use NetSpend I was told that they could not give me that information. Recently I made a trip to Atlanta Georgia and before I went to Atlanta Georgia I made a stop at a QT. My card was actually stuck into the machine and I found out through a supervisor at QT that once the card is stuck in the machine it shreds it. Desperate, homeless in Atlanta, hungry, I call to Brink's. Express to them my concerns.
I told them that I had a card that I found and I asked if they could put the card that I misplaced if they could put the monies and transfer it back to that card. I was told "no. You will have to buy a NetSpend card." I asked a complete stranger for $20. The purchase of the NetSpend card was $22. Card number ** was completely denied by Brink's. I immediately after getting off of the phone and then hung up on bio NetSpend customer service AKA Brink's customer service. After I called in to give that card number to the customer service I was put on hold then the phone hung up on me. I then called back to NetSpend aka brink's to allow them to know the situation and the question that I asked to the customer service was "why was the phone hung up in my face."
I gave the information of my NetSpend card and I asked "was it because I did not qualify to use NetSpend" and the customer service said "yes that's the reason why you did not qualify so she hung up." I told him I found that very disrespectful and that he was very unconcerned about me as a customer. I've then asked to speak to a supervisor NetSpend and was told that I was never to use NetSpend again in my life. I asked why and they said "because of suspicious activity". Well I was thinking that NetSpend was a prepaid card and was wondering how could there be any suspicious activity however I called back to NetSpend customer service AKA Brink's customer service, paid $25 for Netspend card. Was told I cant use it.
I then called back to netspend aka brink's and asked for my card to be expedited. My card was to be mailed to me November 2nd. I was also told on November 1st to call back within 24 hours to get a tracking number correction. When I called back my tracking number was not available. I called back later on that day around 4 o'clock - my tracking number was not available. I spoke to a supervisor. He assured me that my concerns would be escalated to a higher management. He gave me the wrong information. Was told to call back at 6pm. I would receive my tracking today Nov 2, 2016. Concerning the time to call back it was 5 o'clock my time and he told me that it was around 4 o'clock his time.
I called back at 7 o'clock my time just to inquire. I asked what time zone that they were in NetSpend AKA brink's and I was told it was 7 o'clock which was the same time zone as North Carolina. 7 o'clock. I did make it a point to say that I'm not understanding what's going on. I'm not sure if this is a different department in a different state. My question was not answered. That was not answered. I was told again that my card will be delivered tonight nov 2, 2016 by UPS. I have not received my card yet. If I don't pay my rent I will be evicted. I have bills to pay. I'm a person with a disability and NetSpend you guys have been very disrespectful and legally if I have to do something about it I will have to do it but for now I am making this complaints because you guys are very disrespectful and unprofessional. I have phone recording of every call. I called Netspend aka brink's and made a formal complaint over the phone. The pic of the receipt is where my card was stuck in the ATM.

I saw an ad online for **, free trial only $3.95. While checking out they included a bottle of Green tea extract for an additional shipping fee, no explanation or fine print on either product. I am very careful shopping online. A few days later 2 charges appeared - one for $89.95 & another for almost $93. I filed a dispute, was given a provisional credit after time, then received an email & letter stating a mistake was found & the provisional credit was permanent. This company was fraudulent. Then a day or two later my account was deducted $89.95 again for this same charge previously discussed. I called & was told I lost the claim. I saw the bogus stuff the company sent & I promise you nowhere did it say anything about me having 10 days to cancel. And the kicker is this is the "added" product I had no interest in.
I am the direct deposit specialist for my district at Ace and take pride in the product I represent, your product. I had 9 direct deposits alone in the month of October I set up, yet had to let mine go & get an acct with someone else because I am questioning the integrity of some of your employees. I feel I got two answers from 2 people. Since this my dog has bladder stones & is scheduled for surgery on 10-11, Friday. I was thinking if all this had of been handled correctly I would have gotten paid Wednesday with you, thus moving her surgery up 2 days. I'm angry and hurt. I feel this is unjust and a letter & email should never have been sent out saying all was final if it wasn't. Now my account with you is overdrawn because of this & I honestly have no idea when I'll be able to pay it.

I'm not as happy as l used to be. Ever since they closed all of the ACE Cash Express stores, we have no place to access our money without having to pay a fee. And then still have to pay a $5.00 monthly fee for having the account. I wished there was a way to have a place where we can get our money free.

After having a NetSpend card for two years and not having many issue (minor issues I should have taken into account) they stole $1,000 from me and whenever I call they hang up or don't help. They say the same exact thing each time as if they are reading from the palm of their hands. Even speaking with a supervisor was completely pointless. I don't think they knew how to even work their system. I was told a trace would be put on a direct deposit that I didn't receive (2nd time not reviewing my direct deposit in two months the first amount was $860). Then to call back in two hours. I called back and was told the request was never put in, you can imagine how livid I am now, no money, no sign of it, no answers.
After calling for days and getting attitudes and dial tones I came across a rep named Carmella. I thought Carmella was helpful until the next rep told me she lied and the direct deposit department did not send over email correspondence like she said stating my direct deposit would process in my account that day (3 days ago). The next rep Leila who claimed to have been a supervisor after being on hold for 1 hour and 35 minutes, showed no regard or concern. I was told to call the dept of treasury because they didn't get anything.
So I did with Leila on the line so she could hear what I was trying to explain (maybe I wasn't doing a great job explaining it since I had explained it 78 times already) the rep from dept treasury confirmed the money was sent and they would have returned the deposit the day after since she's dealt with things like this before that have been rectified by the bank upon discussion of the issue (because the customer is the main priority) so I took to Facebook to inform everyone I could not to waste their time or energy with this "for lack of a better word" company... needless to say they have blocked me on Facebook which is odd to me, any reputable company would have seen these concerns and warnings and took heed making steps to resolve the issue! That's what customer support is about RESOLUTIONS.
Anyway, I informed the last "supervisor" I spoke to that I will have my lawyer contact them instead of me (maybe they will understand better) so that I can get this lawsuit going. I trusted NetSpend and I even referred a few people to them over the years, needless to say everyone I referred is in the process of cancelling their account with them, one person told me that the rep said "she will not cancel their account because it looks bad for the company." I've never laughed so hard, this company is the biggest joke possibly in corporate America (if you consider their side of business corporate America related). I hate to have to go through the process of a lawsuit but there is no other way with these people. I have already lawyered up and he will be touching base with them (or their lawyer) tomorrow.

The NetSpend card is a great alternative to a credit card. Fees are reasonable, and it is accepted everywhere credit cards are accepted. My only complaint is that whenever canceled purchases are credited back to my account, NetSpend still sees fit to keep the one dollar transaction fee. While they have always refunded this upon request, it should be automatic. Keeping this fee on canceled purchases is unfair and is the only flaw in their otherwise good customer service.

At NetSpend, with Direct Deposit, you only pay a $5.00 a month maintenance fee. And that's it. There are only per swipe fees if you choose that particular plan. With Direct Deposit and NetSpend Premier, you get a FREE $10.00 overdraft so if you miscalculate and overdraw your card by $10.00 or less you won't be charged any fees! Compare that with a brick and mortar bank, where if you overdraw your account by JUST ONE PENNY, they'll charge you over $30.00 for an "overdraft fee", and, on top of that, start charging you $8.00 PER DAY until you cover the ENTIRE overdraft plus accumulated fees! If you are on a fixed income, by the time your direct deposit shows up, you could be broke and still owe the brick and mortar bank.
Because of all the bad press that prepaid cards receive, some credit card companies won't accept my NetSpend account to pay those bills. Many do, but more and more and starting to refuse to accept my NetSpend account, and I think that "Big Banks" are behind it, and they claim that it is because of all the fees that prepaid cards charge their customers. I guess they don't bother to look in the mirror and see all the fees that they themselves charge. In closing, in my humble opinion, NetSpend is far better than "mainstream banking".

On the whole, I have been fairly satisfied with NetSpend. It has allowed me to enjoy the benefits of having a checking account without the pre-qualifications. However, my recent experience with my account being breached, resulting in unpaid bills and limited funds has not been pleasant. To add insult to injury, I have sustained an overdraft fee, because there are not funds to pay it. I am told that the investigation will take 45 to 90 days, however a loan of the stolen amount will be allotted in 10 business days (2 weeks). In this day and age of electronics, it can easily be investigated whether or not the claim is true. NetSpend claims our funds are FDIC insured, so what is the problem???
