Green Dot has been a great card since day one. Easy to use, accepted almost everywhere, easy to load money on to, the cash back rewards, and good app to use on my iPhone. Only disadvantages to the card are the fee to reload the card is a little high-it should be based off the amount of money being reloaded on to the card.

I love my Green Dot card. However there is one thing that I dont like and it's the cash back. I would like it if once you max out. Pull it. So you can start over. Let's face it. Everyone has tough times and need a little extra.

I am a very satisfied customer. I have recommended Green Dot to family, people I work with. I haven’t received any negative feedback. Some of my coworkers have children that have Green Dot also and they are also happy with the services also.

Love having a Green Dot card, minus the one day I couldn't access it. It's convenient and easy to use anywhere. I pay my bills online with it and all. When I get it replaced they are right on it. I only wish I could change the image on my card.

Despite many emails explaining that the mobile app would not work for me I keep getting the same reply and same set of instructions which I have followed over and over no results. When I called several times to one was able to help or seemed to speak English well enough to understand what I was saying.

I love Green Dot. I'm in control of how I bank. I like the way you can stash money and help you save. I can go anywhere use it at any time. I wish they had their own atm's that you can use to avoid too many fees. The best thing is the direct deposit. I get my money a day faster. It helps a lot. Thank you Green Dot.

Green Dot is a great company but I don't think you guys should charge 10 monthly fees that's more than a normal bank. I like that you can stash and unstash cash. Also I like the early direct deposit. Over all I like GreenDot company.

The app is easy to use however I was not happy that my VALID driver's license was rejected and I'm not able to use the transfer money from another bank feature. Also, I have the cash back rewards card and although I have reached the maximum limit ($100) and I'm not able to access it and have to wait for the 12 month period.

My previous bank decided it would be a good idea to charge me me a monthly fee after I requested the account to be closed. I had already withdrawn my cash because of a security issue so I was charged 2 NSF fees because 1 I didnt have any cash to cover the monthly fee of 15 dollars and the other because there was no cash to cover the NSF fee they charged me for after knowing I had withdrawn my cash. Long story short I was switching jobs at the time and went to apply to a local bank and they informed me that I had a delinquency flagged under my name for non payment of a NSF fee.
So I started looking into other banks that I could get a card through that would allow direct deposit, I stumbled upon Green Dot at Walmart bought the card for 3 bucks deposited a little money on it and I was good to go. Setup was a breeze and customer service had me on and off the line in no more than 10 minutes tops, The app is amazing you can pay bills with direct pay order checks and transfer cash to other accounts so long as they are Green Dot. Even better they dont charge you to transfer cash to your savings and back other banks always charged me if I did it more than 7 or 8 times a month knowing you cant plan for the unexpected you can only prepare for it, Green Dot really gets it.
Not to mention if you have a direct deposit thats of a certain amount they wave the monthly charge. Green Dot is awesome because they get me my money up to 3 sometimes 4 days early after my employer releases payment. Even tax returns are easy using them. I got my taxes about 2 weeks before any of my friends did. If you're tired of all the other banks out there please give GreenDot a chance you wont regret it.

Never had any issues with card. Have always been able use card at any ATM or store. The only thing I don’t like is the high monthly fees to use card daily. I believe if you get regular direct deposit each month then the monthly fee should be waived.

I like everything except for the $10 fee if I don’t have enough put in as a direct deposit each month. And I wish you didn’t have to wait a year to collect your rewards. Other than that I have no other issues or complaints and would recommend Green Dot.

Pretty awesome getting my paycheck earlier. It helps tremendously being a single mom... just wish the cashback didn't cap off at $100 otherwise great card capabilities. Love that it's cash reloadable. Will be a loyal user as long as possible.

There have been some times in the last year when having your debit card was extremely helpful. I am unable to be fully mobile and your card affords me the opportunities to fully utilized online payments for 95% of my bills. It's convenient and the credits and debits show up in a timely manner. I'm very pleased to have my account.

I just think the $9.95 fee is a little high. Maybe five dollars would be ok. Or even what about if you have your paycheck deposited into your account regularly that monthly fee gets waived since you're a loyal customer!

You have too many fees and if something doesn't change about it I'm gonna switch to Chime. Anybody else is better than Green Dot. Everything about the card is bad. I've had nothing but problems with Green Dot. The card is crap. That's all I have to say.

I thought I had lost my card but ended up finding it later. I Sent all of my funds to myself via Western Union only to find out that I couldn’t do that and had to have the transaction cancelled by Western Union. As soon as the transaction is done pending by Green Dot, my funds will be back. Green Dot says it could take up to 10 days which is ridiculous because no other transaction takes that long to finish pending. Now my family has been screwed for the last week. It’s already been a week and it’s still pending. Thanks Green Dot for all of your help. You sure didn’t mind taking the VIP charge out and putting it at -4.95 that’s for sure.

I love my card. Just wish I could get my direct deposit on Tuesday like I use to but other than that I love my card. Can pay bills, order things offline. I love how you can get cash back from the card and the other thing I don’t like is the cost you have to pay every month it a 10 dollars fee. Other than that the card is so awesome.

I think the Green Dot card is great. The Only Exception is that you can't use it for Western Union because it is not recognized as an official Bank with their site and other providers as well don't recognize it as an official Bank.

I would be much more likely to continue using if the monthly fees were not there. I have access to another card that doesn't charge me. My card is in the negative even now simply because of these charges. I will probably just cancel my card.

I have been with this company for over a year. I never had a issue til now. I called customer service for a replacement card, because mines was broke in half. They claimed they mail my card on May 23. It’s June 11. No card. No access to funds. Called. Got misinformation. Now I have to upload and email my ID and all these documents in order to receive my funds. It’s BS. I stay with somebody temp. I have to provide a lease and utility bill with my name on it. I’m only staying at the address for month. You're holding my hard earn money hostage charge me for a card which I never received.
Once I load the acceptable documents then I have to wait three weeks for my hard earn money. Only thing I have going to that address is a medical bill, I’ve been told it has to be a lease or utility bill. I currently have a open case with the BBB. This is unacceptable. I have bills and children that need to be taking care. It’s going on three weeks. No access to my funds.

Worst company EVER!!! I had a card for about 6 weeks. Not crazy about the $7.95 monthly fee and having to pay $4.95 to load but whatever. The problem is customer service. I was able to make a purchase using the card this morning. Then when I went to make a second purchase from the same merchant, the card declined. 2 calls to the merchant and 3 calls to Green Dot ended with me cancelling the card. Green Dot insisted that is was the fault of the merchant and wouldn't listen to any kind of reasoning on my part. I tried to tell them that THEIR system was telling me the card was closed but they wouldn't take any responsibility for the problem. All the merchant could see was the card being declined.... What else could they do??
Green Dot was rude, yelled at me and said I would have to take care of the problem myself. Had they treated me better I simply would have asked for a new card. I was so frustrated I had to close the account or lose my damn mind. I don't recommend this company at all. And in order to close the account I had to have a zero balance. Thank goodness I was able to get my remaining balance off the card by sending the money to my son via PayPal and then he sent the money to me. Horrible, horrible, horrible company.

I needed to pay a bill and didn't have a card to pay my bill off. I saw Green Dot in the store and decided to grab one. It was just an easy fix because they charge too much so I don't buy anymore. Sometimes, people use it to pay the bill and then Green Dot would charge a fee and they were not on there. Green Dot had sent the money off the card. I got my card still, but I'm gonna take my money off the card if I'm not using it.

An $8 monthly fee is rather ridiculous. The monthly fee on my bank account is a fraction of this, and they actually provide A+ service. Plus my bank doesn't turn me into a product for marketing purposes. I received this card a gift, and I wish I had gotten a normal prepaid Visa instead. I would never recommend Green Dot to anyone that can open a real account with a bank or credit union.

My live in girlfriend did my taxes with Intuit TurboTax. They've contracted services to Green Dot. She then took off and stole the card once we received it. After canceling the card, Green Dot refuses to issue me a check with the remaining funds. I've sent every identifying document I have to verify my identity. They refuse to change my contact information to the current address and phone number (even though the address on my state issued id is clearly legible, and I've sent countless pieces of supporting documentation they've asked for, including state government documents sent to said address, a lease agreement etc). They refuse to let me speak to a supervisor. They tell me I will receive a callback from the corporate office within two business days. They keep calling the wrong number, despite clear instruction stating the phone number on file is incorrect.
I have spent probably 10+ net hours on the phone with these people. I have sent in excess of 20 emails with identifying documents. I have been promised 4 supervisor callbacks and received none. I have been exceptionally well mannered and courteous with call center staff. I have sent every document that has been requested. I will now post my issue on every available review website. Next step is a complaint with the BBB and FDIC. I will then proceed with legal activity against Green Dot. My name is Jaron **, from Madison, WI. Thank you.

Bought a card then found out about a monthly bill. After requesting a refund they refused to give me what I paid for the card. I do not recommend using this card. Save your money and buy a gift card instead.

Didn't verify my identity, still charged me a fee. I purchased a Green Dot card for direct deposit. Loaded 20USD then tried to register the card and open an account. The website said the verification process would take 48 hours. Never happened so I called customer service. I was notified that I could not load the card ever again and had a balance of 12 dollars and some change and could only make in person purchases. Very displeased with the experience all the way around.

Froze my account then I provided all documents from my deposit which is crazy anyway. Then they said, "We have everything we need and your account will be back on at midnight." 4 days later and still don’t have my 1,000 dollars back and spoke to Kelly last time who hung up on me and said it would be 10 more days. Do yourself a favor and save yourself from the headache. Go with any other card. Customer service with these people is horrible!!!

I try to pay my bills and I keep getting funding reversals. I'm getting PENALIZED because of this. I'm TRYING to reactivate my health care, which has been a NIGHTMARE. Overall the card and company have provided a solid service, quick and easy to use and reload. The only complaint I have is I had a security deposit taken in April and released April 16th by the company yet the $500 is still pending in my account. Why if the company released it has it been almost two months to just get me the $500 back. I called and all they could say was it could be before June 12.. Okay but you can take my money and issue other refunds quicker so why is it so tough to release this one, I could see thirty days but not two months!

So I used this card ONE time. When I go.to check the balance I notice there has been more than ONE charge on my card. When I try to call the number provided on the back of the card the recording tells me the card number is invalid?? It also did this when I first got the card. After making a purchase online I was able to work the automated system.. Strange. So when I tried to call the number for customer support to dispute charges, the recording tells me I have the wrong number and hung up on me!?!? Can I PLEASE speak with a REAL LIVE PERSON!!

In this day and age, how can Green Dot's dispute department email be down over three weeks?! I filed a dispute due to a large unauthorized charge, have a broken ankle, no car and it's 100 degrees here! What a major inconvenience to customers!!!!

I seen that there was charge for over $700 from Western Union. I've disputed the charge and GreenDot hasn't been of any assistance. This issue has been going on for months now. My next step is to file a complaint with the attorney general's office. I'm very disappointed that such a large company has such piss poor customer service!

Updated on 06/21/2019: I finally spoke with someone at corporate named Cortez. I was told that my account was locked and needed to verify my identity the picture was incorrect. I was told my account would be unlocked would be unlocked within 15 minutes. I asked him if he can stay on the line to verify and he refused to do so and hung up in my face. I took the picture 6XS and received a message saying they accepted the photos and then when I checked again it was rejected. Finally I received a message saying it was accepted and my account was unlocked. I checked my balance and my direct deposit is gone. No information as to what happened.
I called Payroll and verified all the information and was told Green Dot accepted my direct deposit the 19th and I would need to call the bank ACH department and see what's going on. I called the corporate number and spoke with a lady named Filza **. She advised me that because my account was locked they rejected the direct deposit. I told her my payroll shows you guys accepted it and still have it. Filza then began to get really condescending and rude and talk over me and tell me over and over "Like I said it takes 2 Business days". I asked to confirm from when and she proceeds to tell me, “Oh today 6/21 would make it the 2 days since we rejected the direct deposit but if you call back Monday we would be able to get more details or do any type or search.” She refused to do her part in even checking. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she refused.
I called corporate and was treated like nothing. So you guys locked my account because of the amount of my direct deposit from my employer/refused to verify as to why/supposedly rejected the deposit that started the issue/are reflecting to the sender that I have funds that I don’t and on top of that refused to even check on an update. I will not give up. I want my paycheck. I worked for it and I want my money.
Updated on 06/21/2019: I wrote a review 6/6 and the agent I spoke with finally assisted in reviewing my information and gave me access to my account. Now my second direct deposit has posted to the card and you guys have blocked my card and said you have to verify my identity. I sent all the documents and now I have no access to my money. No way to buy food or get around. You guys have locked up my check and money I had on the card. You guys are making me pay for writing a bad review? How can business be conducted this way? My daughter birthday is this weekend and I don't know if you all will release my funds by that time. I am beyond livid. I can’t even call CS. As soon as I put my info in the system rejects my call and hangs up on me. What will you guys do to help??? Besides being rude and unhelpful.

I signed up for the direct deposit and the very first deposit made to the account is flagged and my account is blocked because of a direct deposit from my employer. I have been with Green Dot many years. The other day I loaded 2 MoneyPaks for my brother. 2 days later my account is closed and I have a transaction for $100 for a pin dispute or something and I have no idea what that evens mean nor did I make a transaction for $100. Can't talk to anyone because my account was closed. Hmm. How convenient. My online account has a balance of $11, now how can I have a balance if they closed my account. That should've been sent as a check. I just want my money back. I don't care about having an account with them. I just want my money that they are trying to steal.

Got a $40 loaded prepaid debit card. They took a $10 monthly fee the one day later. Unbelievable. Needed 40$ for a single one time use card, took $10. I still am in shock. This is the most greedy messed up company ever. Should put the fee in bold print on the FRONT OF THE PACKAGE. Although they did out the 1.95$ cost on there of course for the card itself. This is so beyond evil for a company to do. I'm going to go out of my way to spread this around and boycott everything. Myself and as many people I can inform will strictly go to any of the other normal cards. God forbid. We just want a prepaid debit card to get us through to payday, or give as a gift on a 12 YEAR OLD'S birthday. Shameful. This is what happens to businesses when they literally only think of how much more rich they can be.

My account was cancelled without notice and without much in the way any kind of explanation. I've been as polite and patient as possible, and yet, call center agents hang up the phone in the middle of a conversation without warning, claim they'll call you back and don't, interrupt you without warning by abruptly connecting you to various recorded messages, breathing heavily into the phone without talking to you so you'll hang up (seriously, this happened) and other stuff. I've been lied to about why I was once charged for the monthly fee when I had no balance and hadn't used the card for months. The call center person said I "had to pay the fee" when I asked why. Fortunately, I eventually got the charge reversed when I reminded the person that all the other months where I had a zero balance I didn't get charged. They suddenly "remembered" I didn't have to pay the fee with a zero balance on the statement day.
I've done nothing wrong, in fact, I've only had the card for a year and barely use it, just occasionally. Not much of any kind of explanation about why I can't use the account anymore. Again, I've done nothing wrong or violated their terms in any way. Yet people in their call center including supervisors treat you as if you're a criminal just for asking why they took your account away from you without notice. How this company stays is business, if this is the way they treat other people, is beyond me.

I am rather happy with my Green Dot debit card. I do not have very many complaints. I do not like the expensive atm fees. I have not ever had any problems using my Green Dot card. I need to order a replacement card because mine is cracked but I am not sure how long it will take to get here and if mine will work until the new gets here.

Updated on 06/12/2019: My dispute was denied. This is so wrong. My card was compromised. Used in Florida and mich9 I love in Tennessee. I called a restaurant it was used at and they said no one has even called them. I want my money back. This company has taken my money and I want it back. I work to hard for it. They won't even let me talk to live person!! -- Shady!!! Bad business. I guess I'll contact Better Business Bureau.
Updated on 06/06/2019: Was told my card would be here June 5th, a few days later they say June 12. Now my direct deposit went on old card and can't get my money. No options offered. Called Corp and found out it could have been sent by FedEx but I was told that wasn't an option many times. I just can't wait until I see how long it takes to get charges reversed where unauthorized charges were made. I can only imagine how it's going to be.
Original Review: My card was compromised. We got dispute case going and I was told by three different CSR I would get card expedited by 6/5. Now they say 6/12 with no explanation or option for me to get my paycheck this week my only income. If I hadn't been lied to I could've contacted my payroll dept and stopped it. They could care less I have no money to pay bills or get to work. Last week they double charged me an ATM fee they tried to blame ATM and I see on national news it happened to many people. I want what's my. Green Dot you have no right to hold my money with no way for me to get it.

I have two checking accts with Green Dot. I tried to send payments two payments to contacts via phone. Unfortunately I didn't know the recipient has to have a Green Dot card. I tired to cancel both transactions but because I told staff my card was split in half they stopped use of debit card ending in **. I asked to speak with Supervisor but was told none there. I am very upset about the holdup of receiving replacement card so I can transfer funds to check acct ending in **. Change my banking with Green Dot.

I love using this card over an actual bank. Only 2 things I don't like. You can only get up to $100 cash back rewards in rewards in a 12 month period and I accomplished that in less than 3 months. Second thing the monthly fee if you have direct deposit set up it should be free like a regular bank.

You can never speak with a live person regarding disputes and if you notice an incorrect or fraudulent charge on your card your account will be closed forever with no explanation and your funds will be held for at least 10 days. Plus, kiss the $ goodbye that someone stole from you. Everything was fine until my card was cut off for no reason and tied up over $1800 for ten days. I travel with work and had my pay deposited directly to my Greendot card. One night I noticed a charge on my card I didnt recognize and looked in to disputing it. I was tired and had just checked into hotel after an 8 hr drive so I didn’t submit dispute info. but when I woke up the next morning my card was off and of course no access to for funds.
Several days later they allowed me to access the funds but informed me my account was closed and I would not be able to add funds or use card after existing funds were gone. I never received a reason other than suspicious activity (duh, apparently someone made a charge I didn't know about) & when I inquired for a more detailed explanation I simply received to same response via email.

Overall, I think it is very good. The exception however, is that when I make a payment it does not always show up right after. I always have to wait and then I get a late fee charged. Putting money on card, and sending money to another person is very quick and useful.

Ever since I been dealing with Green Dot, it has been amazing. Easy to load. My direct deposit has been either on time or early. I would recommend this card to everyone. Monthly fee isn't too high either. I was able to even get my tax return directly deposited to my card. There's no hold on funds. My card can be loaded at Walmart.

They make you use snail mail to dispute charges rather than all the modern banks that allow email for this process. After having my card stolen and used to order Chipotle for $110. They told me I cant prove it was stolen. I've never had any bank accuse me of lying. And they offered no appeal process except to say "prove it". Abhorent. Absolute joke of a prepaid card service. Go with Paypal, they reimburse you early before even resolving the dispute and the process is much easier, no request for "proof".

This card was given to me by a student who thought it was a gift card. To activate they force you to open an account. The card appears to be a gift card until you read the very small print inside under the plastic which says not a gift card. I'm sure she found it with the gift cards which is very misleading to the consumer. They should be reported to the FDIC for their misleading packaging. They also charge $7.95 per month. Waived if you deposit $1000.00 or more in the previous month. Green Dot cards should not be allowed to be displayed with gift cards in stores. They should be displayed in bold writing open a new bank account with Green Dot because that is what they are advertising - not a prepaid Visa. False Advertising when it says Prepaid Visa and it's not.

It is near impossible to talk with a Green-Dot Bank person. I have an account that a business took money from my account unauthorized. The bank has not helped me resolve this matter. The one time I got hold of a Green Dot bank person, I couldn't understand what they were saying. The clerk refused to get me a person who spoke English. I have an open account and am unable to close the account because Green Dot refuses to help me. I have money with the bank and can't assess my account. I wouldn't recommend Green Dot to anyone.

Since last year someone have been getting a hold of my credit card information and using it for PlayStation Network almost 613.00 to be exact now. Someone used it again last night at 1229am for 25.00. I've filed the dispute. Cancelled man cards due to this mishaps and they denied my claim stating I made an agreement with PlayStation Network which I don't even own a PlayStation period. The last game I played was a Nintendo in the 80's and 90's.. I need all my money back or someone will be losing their job or the whole company will be shut down.. STOP PLAYING WITH MY MONEY.

This company allowed someone to activate my card without any info on me and they withdrew all my money off my card and now I'm fighting this company for a refund because they denied my dispute even with me having a police report saying it was not me using the card on camera at a atm... My family is living in a shelter and going through hard times and this money was all we had. I wish I would have never chose to use them. Horrible company.

I bought the card and every time I tried to use it, it said invalid entry. When I called customer service and typed in the card number, it said invalid entry. When I went to greendot.com to activate the card, it said the website was experiencing "technical difficulties". I still have the card and would love to use but until then I am VERY dissatisfied.

This place of business is the most horrible place to deal with. They get your transactions all mixed up. They keep your deposit from motels, never put it back and they freeze your account and don't let you get your money off it. I'm telling everyone if you read this don't fall for it. It's false advertising all the way.

Apparently, Green Dot has a limit to the amount of money a person can deposit in one day. I was trying to deposit $2000 but it only accepted $1000. I bought two Green Dot cards and deposited $500 on both of them. When I tried to load the money onto my debit card, it kept given me a “Deposit Failed” message on both cards. I emailed the fraud department and they emailed me back stating it was no money loaded onto the cards. I shot down to CVS and they are working on a resolution, but it’s been over a month. I have a feeling I’m going to have to sue Green Dot or CVS. I want my money back!!!

Again I've called trying to figure out why I have a charge on my card for a subscription I cancelled and was just wanting to get help blocking it and since I didn't know if I set the account on my phone, my old work phone, new work phone or my girlfriends number I was basically just told go online and figure it out then go back through the annoying long phone line system again (since it's to difficult to make it after someone enters the info they can't just select #0 for a customer service rep) and call back... I JUST GAVE YOU MY SOCIAL AND BIRTH DATE! Don't say it's a security issue 'cause clearly I could have given other info (such as the card info). I never set up an online account for Green Dot and it should not be needed when I'm speaking to a real person over the phone. I'm done with card company and am glad I just used them to pay bills and not as an actual form of banking.
The last issue I had was a few months ago which you can find that experience on the BBB in more detail but basically I was given the runaround speaking to multiple people trying to figure out why I had transactions that I didn't do on my account and it ran my account dry. They kept saying the math made sense but even when I took the info to my bank for an outside opinion, even they said Green Dot was wrong. Unfortunately I moved for my job before my bank got back to me and I it's my own fault for not cancelling my account then with Green Dot. I hope this review helps protect people in the future from signing up with such a horrible company. This post will copy and pasted to every site I can find to help as many people be safe as I can.

I live in Oregon and the law says they have to pump your gas. I cant ever pay at the pump. I have to go into the store, to put say 30-50-75 dollars in my tank. I understand I was always able to do this in the past with a bank debit card. Yes I understand the station will send a 75 dollar fill up fee, to make sure you have the funds.

My grandma bought one of your cards for my birthday and put 100$ on it. The only problem is when I called to activate it it said the card number was invalid and I haven’t been able to contact y’all cause I need a valid 16 digit card number.

Yes I am a Green Dot dissatisfied customer. I live in Chicago Illinois and someone was able to access my card all the way in Las Vegas. I have disputed this claim with Green Dot four different times. Also sent over supporting documents such as a police report and all transactions that I did not do. They have these foreigners answering the phone. I would not give me any information on the case or would they allow me to speak to a manager or supervisor thing and the representative hung up in my face. I was forced to put in another claim and send over those documents again. But meanwhile I am out of $1500 and still it’s been months. Someone needs to contact me as soon as possible **. What the next step will be a news broadcaster and talking to my lawyer.

I purchased a Green Dot bank card to use for direct deposit from my employer just like Green Dot advertises. Green Dot chose to put a block on my account instead of making my direct deposit, which has caused me a considerable amount of problems now. I am a truck driver a long way from home and Green Dot puts a block on my account causing me not to be able to access my own money. If you use Green Dot they could very easily do the same thing to you. I will find another way to do my banking business. I wouldn't have even given them one star but I had to to post this information.

I bought the prepaid card awhile back as a Christmas gift for my wife. I just unwrapped it from the packaging and noticed it has an expiration date of 9/18 that was covered up by a sticker. I tried to register it at 866-795-7597 and that keeps asking me to register the card, but fails every time over the phone and won't let me go any further to talk to a customer rep. I tried online and it says it is registered, but won't let me access it when I enter the rest of the credentials. I'm hoping a Green Dot representative will reply here with instructions on how I can proceed with resolving this. Thank you.

I drive for Uber and it is really convenient to have a Green Dot card. The most beneficial thing for me is that I can cash out for my job. I could charge for it at certain times a day. I have an automatic deposit with it. For example, my money comes from my DoorDash, which automatically transfers in to my Green Dot card. It said the process would take two to three business days, but it only took a day, and there was a holiday included. So that was good for me.
I’m very, very happy with the app that I use. The app is through GoBank and it is super convenient because I can get text messages and emails that let me know my balance and transactions. I can also get all notifications about any time there is a transaction. And any time my balance falls below a certain amount, I can get a notification, which is really helpful. There’s a lot of features that I can get if I wanted to. There’s a lot of information there, and a lot of help packed in.
I can also use free ATMs, like at any pharmacy. In the app that I have for the bank I use that's affiliated with the Green Dot card, I could see the map or their list of where the ATMs are all free. I also get cash backs for certain stores and gas stations, which is really helpful. So far, in almost any gas station I’ve used my card at I get a certain percent back. But a certain gas station is giving me more percentages back. And any time I use the card at Walmart, I get a certain percent back. I would definitely recommend Green Dot to other people. It’s very user-friendly.

On April 3, 2019 I attempted to withdraw $800 form a Regions Bank. The ATM, declined my transaction so I went to another one 'cause I had the monies in my Green Dot account. However, Green Dot debited my account for $800 and told me the Regions provided proof that the ATM dispensed money! Smh! A lie because I didn’t receive anything. Green Dot told me I would receive a detailed letter stating why my dispute was denied. I have yet to receive anything.

I contacted Green Dot by phone last week after finding out they had charged $23.85 off a $50.00 gift card. I asked to speak with a supervisor after the CS rep told me it wasn't a gift card but rather a CC that needed deposits in order to stay current. I was told no one Supervisor was available. I was assured I would receive a callback within 24 hours. That did not happen. In the meantime I had to go online to figure out what I had and what had happened to the $.
I do not need a card of this type. I have AMEX Platinum, BofA CC, First Republic, Morgan Stanley etc. This card to me is a scam on people who don't have $ and I am disgusted with how it works. I contacted the person who originally gave me the card at my birthday party and explained never to use this type of card again as it isn't what he or I, for that matter, thought. I am unsure of where it was purchased or if it was located in a "gift card" placement. But buyer beware it is not that.

I decided since I was traveling to purchase a Green Dot from Fred Meyer in Port Orchard. Big mistake first of all you have to pay cash for this card. Can’t use your debit card - something I didn’t know. After I bought the card I tried to activate it numerous times online and phone activation kept getting same error invalid card. I’m on west coast. I tried calling customer service line. Found out closes at 8pm pst. I called Day. Was transferred to a call center rep in Philippines. She said the problem was my pin. I said I never got to that point. I asked to speak to a supervisor. Was transferred to the Spanish speaking line, I called back again. I asked again for a supervisor. Was transferred to one who didn’t listen. Must be language barrier. I speak English btw. The supervisor opened a case on the pin not working when that wasn’t the case. I went and sent in all docs as requested.
I flew to San Francisco, came back and got an email saying my claim denied, I called customer service again. This time I requested to speak to a supervisor. Was told they couldn’t pull up my card so they couldn’t help. I started screaming at them requesting a supervisor. The rep wouldn’t transfer me to a supervisor. Said, "Sorry nothing can be done," I said, "What do you mean? Green Dot has an inferior product. I will never buy and you are an idiot." This went on for 20 mins. The rep finally came back online saying they will open up a claim for my $100 lost to send an email with that information to RR@greendot.com which I did.
I am still waiting for my $100 to be refunded. As someone who works in payment processing industry I’m disgusted how I was treated the awful product and the experience it was the worst. Customer service should not be this hard. If you have a product that doesn’t work an invalid card it should be promptly refunded. I will never again but Green Dot cards,

A few years back I purchased a MasterCard, Credit card from Wal-Mart, merged with Green Dot. Not necessarily to be my only means of credit, or banking, I did begin using it a few years later, adding a sizable amount to my Green Dot card. I used it over the Holidays, and not much after, so I was not checking the account regularly. Didn't think I needed to be worried about a registered card, oh yeah - they manage to convince you to register your card. Anyway, their customer service reps treated me like the fraud, tsk tsk! Refused to give me the items charged, where from, even a Border crossing fee, they refused to tell me which border. Their P.O. Box was of NO help. They turned down my claim of fraud charges?
After forcing my arthritic hand to write in detail my claims, because EVERY person I spoke to was useless, the person reviewing this case rendered it my problem. They expect me to not only eat these charges I didn't make, they also refuse to tell me what I charged? What was my money sent to without my knowledge or permission? Then to be treated like a crook, ignorant, etc is appalling - even for Wal-Mart! No one's money is to be legally stolen. Where do these companies get off believing their consumers have to take full responsibility for services rendered in the level of crime being committed to them? Luckily I caught it prior to loading a lot more money, under the belief I can use the card as a savings. I can only imagine how much worse this would have been had I made that deposit. SMH.
Wal-Mart has been ripping me off most my adult life, and yes I let it go. A second or third charge from their cashiers you let go - over the years it adds up! My phone services have also took a dive, poor service. My third party business with Wal-Mart is over indefinitely. Paying to be ripped off and treated poorly is not in my aptitude. I'm willing to go to small claims court at this point, maybe then I'll be heard. I refuse to be your Wal-Mart fool. Pay me back MY money. Use your MANY resources to fight whoever you allowed to charge on my account, don't ever expect victims to pay, it's widely unacceptable, on top of unprofessional!
At this point I don't even care about any savings, I want exec customer service, protection on any money you take from me for a pre-paid anything, or it should be illegal for you to offer potentially, fraudulent credit cards, etc. I'm hellah angry at the moment and have avoided the righteous words deserving to be said. If the cards have no protection - it's fraud to sell them!

I call Green Dot, they seen the transaction and seen it was in Memphis at the time and was in Columbus Mississippi at the time at work and they still didn't refund my money. Don't understand.

I attempted to load funds. Card declined. Called and told it's a temp card but it wasn’t. It had my name etc account set up on the app. The girl kept repeating "it’s not valid", hung up. Called, hacked, same thing and hung up. Called back, same thing and hung up. They get trained to hang up, deny you a supervisor and mute you. NEVER again using this.

Updated on 06/05/2019: We have been talking but since the last time. My original transaction showed paid out on the 21st and pending on the 19th. Somehow after I talked to them my transactions show paid out on the 20th now. They still say 21st. Seems extremely fishy that the paid out changed on mine and I still can’t see where the money was returned to my account.
Original Review: I checked into a hotel GD showed a pending for the hotel then 2 days later posted a duplicate charge. I contacted the hotel and GreenDot to find out why. I was told that GreenDot had a mess up on their end and that it would take 2 weeks for me to receive my money. They didn’t have a problem taking it out immediately so why can’t they refund on the same time frame. I had to get my employer to speed up my direct deposit to cover my truck payment or it would not have been paid. They admitted it was a error on their part but want to do an investigation before they give me my money back. I wouldn’t get a GreenDot card unless you can’t get any other card.

My experience was great. Usually I get my deposit same day every week no later than 7Am. It's almost 5:00 and still have not received it. Don't understand and it is a real inconvenience. Every time I call csr, they give an excuse saying it will be here sometimes today. They should at least be able to tell me if its pending, or if the money will be there on another Day. Have been with them 6 months after a year, not sure if I will renew my membership.

Having the Green Dot card is convenient. I’ve been using it for a year. And I don’t have to worry about extra banking fees, and it’s just right there. I use my Green Dot card to pay bills and make online purchases and it is very convenient, so I don’t have to worry about anything when it’s done online. I use the direct deposit frequently. And I like the two days before my actual payday. The only problem with the Green Dot card that I did have is ATM withdrawal. But other than that, the customer service is wonderful. Any problems that I may have, or questions, they always seem to answer quickly.

This whole experience with Green Dot bank has been nothing good!! I had fraud charges on my card and I’m not talking one or two. I called the Pasadena office many times. They told me that they needed the purchases that were fraud and that they would look into it. I have them all the info they needed just for them to tell me my case was declined!! They wouldn’t talk to me very rude and the supervisor didn’t even know the address to mail paperwork. I have investigated it myself and found out all the info. Now why couldn’t they??!! So my next step is to get all my documents together and take Green Dot bank to court. Will never use them again!!

My direct deposit came today at 11:00 pm and it came right on time because my car got a flat and I’m currently at the mechanic shop. I worked extra long hours at work just to make sure I could catch up on my bills. At 12:15pm on May 22nd, Green Dot froze my account! The representative says that my deposit was a huge amount from my job which is a college institution. She also stated I would have to wait for hours! Before hand I was paying all of my bills and now I’m waiting to speak to a supervisor! Horrible. This isn’t the first time this has happened! I did a dispute on a transaction and it took them almost 20 days to give me back my money.
Please stay away from Green Dot! Instead of asking me to verify myself and upload a drivers license or my check stub verifying that I actually work there! Then it’s coming from a major bank, Chase! The representative was over talking me and was very impatient. I just need them to unfreeze my account so I can withdrawal the rest of my money. I can not and will not deal with the incompetence of this bank any further. Consumers you have been warned of the future headache of this company. I could not write a review without giving them a one star, otherwise they wouldn’t get any from me because it’s a very horrible bank!

I did a Dispute for An unauthorized charge on 4/15/19 for 295.16 and it is now 5/21/19 and they have frozen my account with over 1800 dollars in it. They refuse to release the money that I have in the account and they didn’t even credit my account for the amount that I disputed and when I call customer service they give me the runaround about release my money. The dispute process has taken over 30 days and I still do not have my money. I am wondering if Green Dot is wanting to keep money and they have no answers and customer service representatives are rude and when they don’t know the answer they hang up on you. I even told them don’t worry about the dispute just release my money and they still haven’t and when I ask for corporate number they hang up on you. After I get my money from Green Dot I will never purchase another card from Green Dot.

I have been using Green Dot for about 5/6 months now and not once had any issues until this morning when I woke up and seen two different transactions get charged twice and about 6 random (international transaction fees). Although realizing I'm about 140$ set back because of this, what disappoints me the most is lack of customer service on getting this issue situated and me getting my money back. I called all the number, All the internet services and I can't get in touch with an actual human working for Green Dot who can help me. So far my overall experience with Green Dot has been pretty well. However you guys offer that you will get your paycheck deposited 2 days early with direct deposit. Well I have direct deposit and my check only hits 1 day early. And I find it very inconvenient that you are unable to get your earned cash back after having your card for 12 months since I've already reached the max limit and still have 4 more months to go.

I purchased 3 Green Dot cards totaling $150 on Dec. 24, 2018 at Walgreens for part of my kid’s Christmas gifts not realizing they were Green Dot at the time...I was already in line when something told me to grab the other Visa cards I was used to. Got home & couldn’t activate the cards & having trouble reaching customer service, I decided it was too much trouble & wanted a refund especially after I noticed the $7+ taken at 1st transaction. After finally reaching a customer service rep I was asked for my social security number & hung up on 3 times immediately when I wouldn’t provide it. I had my receipts & the cards. Customer service wasn’t good so I most certainly wasn’t giving away my social security number.
Walgreens has been telling me they’ve been waiting for Green Dot to issue the refund only to find out today that I’ll still have to go through Green Dot & try to reactivate the card. Everything was going well until I deposited a check online. I got an email saying that it got deposited to my account but it hasn't. I haven't been able to find a number where I can talk to an actual person. If everything is automated and I have no way of talking to a person I will be looking for another online bank.

This is a scam card company. I don’t see how they get by with it. We need to band together and get a class action suit. I filed a dispute on my card for two small transactions that was at a resort that was scammed off my card. They said not to worry - they would fix it within ten day. So on about the 7th day I called and I got a recording that they needed some paperwork and submit it. Nobody told me anything, Glad I called before I ran out of that time frame but once I got the paperwork sent over it’s now the same thing. "Oh we will let you know something in ten days again." Nobody speaks English and by reading all these views I know they are not going to do the right thing and replace my money. If they do I will gladly get back on here and share to let you guys know. There is hope.
Looks like they drag everybody out for ten days then say, "Sorry your dispute was denied," or go ahead and extend it to 45, give you the credit but then freeze your card, Wow what such crooks. Walmart should definitely be ashamed of their self for allowing Green Dot to scam their customers. A charge back is simple. I will give you guys a update. I’m sure I will get the lie you guys have got. "Oh we are sorry. We tried to contact you," or, "It was a pleasure to speak with you but we are not gonna give you a dime." I’m done ranting now. Green Dot I guess is just gonna say crap on my $300 dollars. I will never go back to Walmart or use Green Dot if they don’t fix this and post this on every site I can find - Facebook and everything. It’s not just one or two of us it’s thousands of people they are screwing over class action.

I have tried to use my card on several occasions and it has been rejected when I have over $500 in my account -- as soon as I use up the money in this account I no longer want this card -- it is embarrassing to have your card rejected when there is money in the account.

I bought a Green Dot card, put 25 dollars on it and I did register myself and received by mail a personal card. Then I transferred 190 dollars to it and then they blocked my account. Card is ok. $5 to load it and then I'm still charged a monthly service. Is insane. I'm getting double charged just to put money on the thing. I only got this card because I was in a rush and my Amex serve card (which is way better) isn't accepted everywhere so I needed a backup.

I’ve enjoyed my experience with Green Dot Bank. My direct deposit comes even earlier than it did with the credit union I was involved with, I like the fact that it’s a traditional swipe card without a chip, and I like that I can check my balance with just a swipe. The cash back feature tied to my card is also outstanding. My wife and I both use these cards and I feel like we will be customers for the foreseeable future.

I’m actually very displeased with your guises service! I knew to the card I made a payment from my Green Dot debit card to my credit card and there’s really no way improving my account other than sending a screenshot. Both are Green Dot so you guys should know that it my Account. I’ve sent twice to your stupid email approving my account and my account is still restricted. I have never had such poor service with anyone. All I wanted is a secured credit card to be able to purchase things that I need and I can’t even do that so I am looking for a new card.

I have used the card for in-store and online purchases without problems. Direct Deposit is always 2 days early. Lots of places to load funds and the best part is no overdrafts! I highly recommend trying it. I'm thinking about the cash-back card and secured credit card too. Thanks Green Dot.

I actually love my Green Dot and have never had any issues. Only downfall is the monthly fee. I feel like it is too high. Maybe for one time users charge high but for the people who have direct deposit I feel should only be charged half.

I love my card and the bank I think it is all wonderful. I like that it's just like any normal bank where I can get checks. I like no overdraft fees and just a monthly fee of 9.95. The ATM fee is low which is great.

I think you should be able to get that 100. Dollar every 6 months instead of having to wait for a year. Other than that I don't have any complaints. This card is convenient. Every payment I make is there. There has only been 1 time that I can remember that I had to dispute anything.

I love it except instead of having it add up your 100$ cash back after a twelve month period you should be able to use it whenever you want as soon as it reaches 100$, maybe after 6 months instead of 12.

Our daughter received this for her birthday. When trying to activate the card she was asked for her social security number. Why would a customer need to provide a social security number to use a gift card? Something is very wrong with this. After repeated unsuccessful attempts to speak with a representative and navigating a telephone maze we looked online and found no better solutions. I would not buy, use or recommend the Green Dot Visa prepaid card.

I have used and enjoyed Green Dot for years and was happy with it.... until recently. I used a grocery service and they cancelled my order. I thought it would be 3-5 days before I saw my refund but it's been over a week. I made many many calls to the service and Green Dot. Service cancelled the order but Green Dot says it has to maintain a 2 week hold. I asked for a direct line or fax so the service could contact them and they said they didn't have any. I asked for a supervisor and the various reps I talked to said no supervisor on the floor. I have spent hours on hold trying to get my grocery budget back. I want to believe in Green Dot but this was a seriously sour experience.

Every attempt to send emergency money to my child's debit card resulted in a failure of some kind through the MoneyPak website. Attempts to contact customer service resulted in nothing but recordings sending me to the website. I ended up having to get a refund for the card, rather than providing the emergency funds to the person who needed them. 0/10, would NOT recommend.

I have been with Green Dot for 2 years. 3 weeks ago I had unauthorized charges appear and filed a dispute. Although their policy says they will credit the money back if it's going to be longer than 10 business days I am still without answers. Today 5/18/2019 I called to explain I was going to be homeless and unable to get food unless something was done. The woman just kept repeating that my dispute had been extended. Wtf? I do plan on seeking legal action against the company.

One of the guys at the company I was working in told me that Green Dot Prepaid Cards is a better way to get paid. However, I don't like that Green Dot's reps said I have to wait 10 days for another card when something happened to my card. It's a headache, especially since I have bills to pay. Right now, I’m going through the problem of trying to get the money off my card. I lost my card again and have to wait 10 days, but I got to pay my rent tomorrow and my license is going off. I can’t wait for 10 days. Still, I have direct deposit to my card and my experience with them over the last two years has been all right. Plus, their reps have all been cooperative.

Received this card when I received my state tax return. Didn't know there was a $7.95 fee. I guess it was in the fine print. It seems they're banking on people not knowing this and collecting these fees. I found the card in the back of my wallet the other day and was about to throw it away. Then I decided to check the balance. Good thing that I did, since I found a -$13 balance. It's a pain to add money, and they're a fee for that, too. This is an example of the banking industry exploiting the poor, who are most often the users of these cards. Shame on them.

Company refuses to refund my money for unused card after... after having me jump through all kinds of hoops to get a mere fifty dollar legitimate refund. On first call to request refund, customer service asked for several official documents of driver license, utility bill, etc. which I sent. Three weeks later no refund. Called again, and again to followup the promised refund. Then after having me call 888 244 7589 about ten times for the refund, speaking to a new person each time who does not understand English, putting me into endless loops to re-enter the same info of card number and details over and over, and send documents again.... Then on recent calls after I started saying, "Will record the call", either hanging up on me or transferring me to yet another person who will ask me to start all over again the email and document process to get a refund, as if requesting the refund for the first time. I will not give up if that is their hope.

I’ve been having Green Dot for some time now and have never had an issue with them. They always deposited my paychecks days earlier than expected. Whenever I had an issue it was solved rather efficiently...until now. Recently I have been a victim of fraud, be it that I lost my wallet with my debit card, ID’s, ssn (stupid I know). Green Dot was only used as my tax refund card which was kept away safely until I needed it to make a large purchase or so I thought it was kept away. Come to find out, someone from Georgia was using my card without my knowledge for 5 days accruing up to $2,800 which was essentially all of my refund money.
In a bewilderment of shock I furiously got in contact with Green Dot and canceled the card and went ahead and disputed over 40 charges this scammer made off of me. I waited patiently for Green Dot to resolve because I had a similar issue with a retailer who was consistently charging my card without my knowledge. Not only did Green Dot deny me with no information why, they denied me twice even with concrete information and proof that I was nowhere near where the purchase were made at that time. I’m thoroughly disappointed with this company and am infuriated that I’m at a loss of such a large amount of money. To this day I am still disputing. DO NOT GIVE GREEN DOT YOUR MONEY.

I was going on vacation, so I want to use a card that no fraud or anything like that could happen. I ended up using a Green Dot prepaid card. I've had it for a while and it has been pretty good. I didn’t have any problem. I feel secure with my account. I would put money, so if it was a place I wasn’t familiar with or I don’t go there that often I would use the Green Dot card. I usually put money on the card in Walmart and it has been easy. Every transaction was very smooth.

I am very unhappy with Green Dot! They blocked our account. I called, did as I was told. 4 months later I called about the block still on my account. They needed IDs and documentation from Social Security. Did that! I was told review took 2 days. After 2 days I was told 5 business days to review. Now 7 days. I'm in very much need of MY money and have been trying to get it for months now. It's always a different reason why the block is not removed. This is an unfair way of running a business and after I do get my money I will never use them again!!!

My company I work for bought these cards for employees who want direct deposit but don’t have a checking acct. This is how our company is now paying all employees. Well I got my card and set it all up. My pay was deposited on 5/15 and I tried to use my card. It was declined. I called customer service to see why and they said my money is on hold and that I needed to wait 4 hours. Well I waited the four hours. Tried again to use my card and was told I needed to email in my ID and paystub so I did that. I called to verify it was all received and she said yes. She would put a note on my acct for them to look at it. I still haven’t been able to use my card. This is my income and how I pay bills and get back and forth to work. Once I receive my funds I will find another company where I don’t have these types of issues. This is crap. I’m very angry????

I’m not sure how long I’ve had this card but it’s never failed me. I’ve recommended it to friends and use it as my primary payment method. It’s never been refused or declined. I got the card as a debit pay card but I’ve used it and loaded money on to it as well.

My Card was Blocked because I made too many transactions I was told. I called to unlock it and was told when I called through the automated system that my card will be unblocked but I couldn't order anymore cards and that my VAULT balance would be moved to my card balance but my vault money is still not UNSTASHED.. I need The money in my VAULT unstashed immediately because I have bills to pay and 4 kids.. This is a bad experience with Green Dot.

First off, reporting an unapproved charge should not be "print this page" then mail it in. Every other bank has just a click on your account page and it is reported to be investigated. Secondly I have to wait a year for my cash back which is kinda a long time to wait for just $100. There have been numerous occasions when I couldn't log in to my account and I tried on three different devices. The customer service is not very good at all. And I cannot link Green Dot to hardly any other accounts. I definitely will not recommend this bank to anyone.

This is absolutely the best card/bank I have ever had. Ever since I have gotten this card I have refused to use any other bank. Keep up the good work. I do wish y'all had rewards for customers that have been as loyal as I have been.

I don't really trust banks so being able to have a prepaid debit card is great, especially being able to have my direct deposit 2 days before payday and everyone else. Not to mention makes online purchases easier than ever.

I have been very happy with the service although when calling customer service there are too many steps in order to reach a live person. There should be a easier process to reach a live person. But once reached my issue was addressed and resolved. Cheryl **

I have had Green Dot for close to a year and have no issues with directed deposits which usually is a day or two earlier than getting a check. I use the paper checks to pay my rent and haven't had no problems with those either but I wish I could use the app still to pre-authorize the checks when I write them so the money will be set aside right away and I didn't have to worry about overspending.

Great, easy to use and there no delay on money and fees that cause your card to be on hold and it notify you when your card has been used which comes in handy. Overall I am very happy with the card. Thanks.

I love it. Wouldn't change it for nothing. I been with Green Dot for a mine now and so far so good. I will recommend it to anyone. It's such a great site and you get rewards and money back when you spend money. So yes I love my green dot.

This card is the best I ever had. Don’t have to worry about no one cashing my checks or using my card numbers. So far the bank accounts I had got hacked into. Since I been with GreenDot I have my money on time in no hackers.

I like how I receive my SS checks four days earlier than I would with a bank account in the small town where I live. I like the idea of the updates thru my email letting me know if someone has used my card or if my balance is lower than I was expecting each day.

Just was wanting to say if there is a way you guys can implement some sort of live representative customer service line, that would help a lot with questions that can be answered oppose of having to go back an fourth with the menu options. Thank you. Other than that this card is very helpful.

Easy to use card, good information about balance. Fair rate when withdrawing funds. Card read easily. Love Green Dot. Always tell family members about it. Mostly during their tax time. My experience been okay with Green Dot. I don’t like that if anything happens to my card I won’t have access to my money for weeks until I get another card. It’s hard to get a live person over the phone.

I have been using Green Dot for 7 years and I love it. I will not use any other prepaid services. I have not once had any issues with Green dot since I switched to their services. I recommend their services to all my family, friends and co-workers. My experience as been nothing but positive.

I am very pleased with my card. No complaints. I would recommend this card. I do wish it would automatically send me my balance every time I use my card. Also low balance alerts. Wished we could get cash advances on the card.

It helps with people with bad checking accounts but the fees get a little expensive. I like getting my pay a day or two earlier but it's getting to hours before my regular payday so maybe changing to a bank but like I said earlier all the fees are too much. That's really the bad thing. I hope the can lower the fees as I know getting cash back at a store is free but there a limit. I cannot ask for 400 dollars. There is a limit too. I have to go to an atm and it's 3 for them and 3 for Green Dot so that is 6 dollars every withdrawal at an atm that 156 a year plus 119 a year in monthly maintenance. That almost a month's car payment.

This card is horrible and the company is known for having your account compromised and stolen from. Customer service is terrible, language barrier and representative usually gets the issues confused or misreports it. They lie to you constantly. I had 2981.63 stolen from my Green Dot card. Was told by the merchants these charges we're not done by me however Green Dot keeps saying these are authorized charges authorized by who was suppose to receive call from corporate office. Still no call my card.
Has been compromised five times at this bank. Now that it is close to 3 grand stolen now Green Dot has a problem refunding my money. They violated their own consumer cardholder agreement and federal law. This bank is horrible and treat their customers wrong. This theft of my card I was unable to pay other bills, lost my car and home and Green Dot continues to lie and not acknowledge that they have issues with security and fraudulent activity. Have been a customer for over a year. After choosing direct deposit option, check was deposited. I use the app for my information. When I checked to see if the money was deposited through the app the account was locked. After calling the number on the card and being hung up on 3 times I was told the money and account was locked by the fraud department because a deposit that big was never made. They do not have a number for the fraud department. They told me send them a copy of an ID. The reason that I chose Green Dot is because no ID is required. I do not have a document to meet the requirements. I would have never deposited 900 dollars so they could hold it. If you are considering this card look for other options. Customer service is horrible, combined with the barely coherent broken English makes for a very dissatisfying experience.

I'm new to the whole mobile banking thing and Green Dot makes it super easy and transactions clear right away so I always know what my balance is. Not needing a check register has been awesome because I've never been good at keeping track. :)

2,500 dollars that was lost from my taxes. 1 dispute denied, they used my card. It never arrived at my house and they denied me a dispute, bad Turbo Tax to do taxes. I do not recommend it. I give it 0 stars.

I want to talk to customer service without having to give my social security number on a line to God knows where. I bought the card and couldn't activate it and lost the money I loaded in it. I forgot about it and resigned to the fact that I lost money and the card will close when balance is zero. I wanted to close my account so I'm not charged further. I only have my login details.

I love the card and the cashback is cool. The transactions help me keep track of my money. I love the fact that I can stash money. Helps me do things like saving and going out. The text makes it easier to help track of my money.

I was charged twice from a merchant and when I supplied proof of this Green Dot would not release my money. They do not receive any communications from the merchant and the management is very rude. They held my money for a month for no just cause.

I enjoy have Green Dot. It helps me keep better track of my money. I don’t have to worry about my identity being stolen or lost money because I control what is put on it. I like their app because I can transfer money into the vault option which does not allow me to overspend.

This bank is amazing. It lets you have a bank account without opening one. There's a monthly fee of $9.95 but at the end of the year you get 100 dollars back which awesome. My favorite thing about the card is how I can stash money and unstash. Helps me not overspend.

A friend, who banks with Bank of America, tried to send me money. You don't take Zella, the app that her bank uses. She couldn't figure out how to wire money to my card. Remotely putting money on the card could be easier. That's the only bad experience I have had with Green Dot.

I was asked by the Veterans Admin. to have my disability payment go to a direct deposit account. I bought a Walmart Mastercard, made a $200 deposit and submitted the info to the VA. These people have deducted their fees for a couple of months while the info was processed by the VA. When the 1st direct deposit was made, some moron in their employ decided to freeze my account. It has been a week and a half since they received my money and after a multitude of calls to an off shore operator (that's hard to understand) they still are holding my funds.
I have had another card (Visa) with them for over 5 years where my Social Security is deposited. I wanted a separate account for my VA Disability check. I am now late with a house payment, and have never been late on it before. This is adversely affecting my credit rating, prohibiting me from traveling to see my family 800 miles away, and causing me undue stress. I'm a disabled, decorated Vietnam veteran, 70 years old and just don't need this crap in my life!! I recommend you look elsewhere for a card with good customer service.... I have made multiple calls, have been hung up on, and left on hold for over 20 minutes when I demanded a supervisor. None ever answered the call nor did they intend to. Service people just read a script and tell you they need 24 to 48 hours to correct the issue, then give you the same spiel when you call back. I need to get my money out of here and go somewhere reputable . . . . .
