I like the early pay with my Green Dot card. I use the direct deposit as well. I also have the mobile app and I can check my balance whenever.

I’m pretty happy with Green Dot. I’ve had it for about 2 years and it's a way for me to have my money as far as sending money separate from my checking account. What interests me the most about Green Dot is that they would give me my payroll a day or two early. I love getting my deposits earlier. This past week, our pay was on Monday the 10th, but I got it on Friday the 7th. That’s like a whole weekend. It’s huge.
I do everything with my Green Dot card. I spend and go online with it. I love the thing they installed in the last months. I love how I can stash or unstash my money so I won’t spend it not knowing. It’s always fast and easy to look my balance up real quick too. I also love that if I return something or have a refund, I get it immediately. Within a few minutes, it’s there. There isn’t any hold or waiting period. Some people would say, “Why do you spend the 9.95 a month?” I’m paying that fee, but the card is worth keeping forever. I feel like as long as I do good with it, I’m getting almost all back when I get my 5% back.

I needed something for purchasing online and so I've had my Green Dot card for 6 months now. I do direct deposit in it and it’s convenient. However, something bad just happened and I got a $55 charge to my card when I didn’t make the transaction. Also, I can’t use my card on cash out. Other than that, I can go and get cash back and I like that. I like the cash back checker as well. So, I tell other people to get a Green Dot card.

My paycheck deposit is on it and I pay my bills with it. I also do online shopping with it. A couple of days ago, I needed to order a new card because I no longer used Orkin, but Orkin was able to take two transactions of money out of my account in two days. It was about $140 worth. The rep said the money would be back in my account by the time I received my new card in the mail. So I’m supposed to get it on the new card. It was pretty good. She was pretty helpful.

I received my card followed all instructions set up app. I am finding it hard to actually talk to someone about why my refund was sent to the green dot account and 48 hours later I am still showing a zero balance. They have the money so why am I having to wait to use my money and there is not one person to talk to because they set up an automated system without an option to talk to a representative and they said as soon as the IRS sent the refund it was available to you not pending it was sent to them. So where’s my money????

I had one incident where I didn't verify Planet Fitness, and it charged me over $100. I called them and I was on hold for not even more than 10 minutes, and then they came on. They asked me a couple questions to verify that I was the cardholder, and then asked me which transaction and they looked through it. They asked me did I still have the card, and then they told me I was gonna have to cancel it. The rep told me he was gonna send another card out to the addresses on file, and then told me that they would send me an email and a letter to the address on whether or not they'll give me the money back or not. So they're still going through it to review it whether I'll get it back or not, but they handled it pretty good.
Their live chat has been down for a couple of days. But other than that, I have had it for over a year now and it's been pretty good. I chose them because I get early direct deposit. At first, I didn't believe the $100 that you get from cashback. But when I first got done with the year, they gave me $100. It's a pretty good card.

My son's tax refund was issued by the IRS to the GreenDot Visa on the 31st. It is now February 5th and the funds are still not available. We were on hold for an hour today with NO ONE to answer the call. When we get online to do the LIVE CHAT, there is NO ONE available to help there either. So unprofessional and after years of using GreenDot I am stopping all business with them. This seems like fraud to me...

We had a NetSpend, but then when they tried to put me on the account, they said I wasn’t a U.S. citizen. But I was born here. I don’t know what that even means, so we said no with them and then we went with Green Dot. We had a bank account for a little while but then we kept overdrafting. So having Green Dot, saves us a lot of money. Also, sometimes our checks go in earlier. When we had to dispute a transaction, they were right on it right away. But we get in trouble at the end of the month because then it doesn’t let us take all of our money off and then we can’t pay rent on time. We only get a $3,000 maximum, and that kind of screws us up a little bit. If we keep using the card, then we kind of seem to overspend. So we’d like to just take the cash off and save rent in there, but then when we try to go take that out, it says we’ve already reached our maximum and that kind of sucks.

Updated on 04/18/2020: *** WARNING *** WARNING *** WARNING *** DO NOT PURCHASE FROM GREEN DOT - FRAUDULENT COMPANY. UPDATE: I went to Home Depot to use the balance on the card which was 484.10 on 1 card, 4.10 on another card (as Green Dot stole the remaining balance) and the 3rd card stated there was a negative (13.00) balance. How is there a negative balance on a card that was NEVER used???? These SCAMMERS STEAL YOUR MONEY - DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM!!!
When in Home Depot the card kept declining when we ran it through for the full amount of 484.10. We tried several times. We then tried 300.00- DECLINED, 200.00- DECLINED, 150.00- DECLINED. We then tried 100.00 and it went through. We ran the card through at 100.00 4 times then 84.10 to get the money MINE MONEY to be applied to the purchase. I'm attaching a copy of the receipt as proof of how ridiculous this card and company are. I was finally able to use the balance on the cards, I DID lose money Green Dot company STEALS people's money. Do not use these cards. GET YOURSELF A LAWYER AND GO AFTER THEM!!!
Original Review: My husband purchased 2 Green Dot Reloadable prepaid visa cards and put 150.00 on one and 500.00 on the other for a total of $650.00 and they do not work. These were purchased at a CVS and CVS is doing nothing to help either. When I call the number on the back of the card 1-866-795-7597 there is no option to speak with a person. The automated system once you put in the card number tells you the card needs to be registered. I follow the instructions for registering and get to a point of Green Dot verifying my cell phone number by sending a text message. This text message NEVER comes. I even tried chatting for assistance and was informed a manager would call me within 24 hours, no call was ever received and when I go in now I can't even see the chat box/icon anymore.
I feel this company is a FRAUDULENT COMPANY. This is a last resort to get someone to contact me to rectify this issue. I have filed a police report against CVS & Green Dot for taking 650.00 cash and providing a NON-WORKING card backed by a company that does NOT RESPOND to help people. The next step is legal action against both CVS and GREEN DOT. ****WARNING**** Do not purchase Green Dot cards- they take your money and the cards do not work. You cannot get in touch with anyone for assistance, therefore this is a fraudulent company, a scam!!!!

Green Dot is a joke. I have been waiting to receive my replacement card for over a month. I did not lose my card. I cracked it and have had no access to my account for over 30 days. All of my income is direct deposit. No one has been helpful. They even turned my live chat off so they do not have to communicate with me. They have charged me 25 dollars in card replacement charges and have not seen one card. I have filed a complaint with the federal reserve consumer.

I bought a Green Dot card from a retailer in the amount of $45.00 plus fees. I tried to use it and was unable to. I tried calling the number on the card. It wouldnt recognize me and I was unable to reach a representative. I sent an email and received a phone call. I explained the problem. I sent a copy of the card front and back and the receipt. I then received an email from their fraud unit and was told to contact law enforcement. It would not let me reply. I contacted once again through email, and was told that they could not return the money and their investigation was over. I replied ok if this the case I would like for them to send me an itemized statement of fees and any other charges.
I have not heard back from them, so I thought well how easy is that? Keep my money without a reasonable explanation and no proof of any kind. Well I wrote back and told them I am not going away. I will retain an attorney to subpoena their records and take this to social media and so on. Still waiting for corporate to call. I have the proof and they said sorry no refund and yet nothing to back up anything.

A friend recommended Green Dot to me. I like my direct deposit. That's what I do with the card. It comes early. Instead of getting paid Friday, I get paid Wednesday. I pay for bills and online purchases with my card. The only thing is something damaged the chip. It never gave a problem until two days, I got it kinda rubbed against my sweater. It didn't work. Maybe I need a new one. But otherwise, it's good.

Updated on 02/07/2020: So now Green Dot responded to make it appear that my issues were addressed or handled. Still not resolved and still do not have my money back. Their solution was for me to contact the merchant for a SOR form. With that being said the merchant has no clue what this is. After speaking with Kris, Billy, and Antonio they all had a different story line of what should be done in each scenario. I jumped through every hoop. Got a document directly from the merchant showing these charges were released and guess what? Still not good enough for them. They have been BS'ing me and refuse to give me my money back.
I am so disappointed as I have been nothing but a valued member of their bank. Like I said before and will continue to say if you need a prepaid card or anything please dont choose them. Please use Chime, Current, Empower. Their customer service teams are on point, understanding and truly go the extra mile to assist you. It's now been 6 days and I dont have a dime back in my account after being lied to by the whole green dot customer care team and now their corporate team. Great work Antonio, Billy and Kris.
Original Review: When I tell you that this is the worst bank to ever do business with it is TRULY the worst. I had two pending transactions both of which the order was cancelled once placed. When I contacted the merchant first (common sense) I was informed the funds would be released back to my account within 72 hours. Well now it's been 96 hours and funds have not shown up. I contact GREENDOT support (CHAT) of which I explained my frustration and the young lady stated that she would have a supervisor call me back by that evening or first thing in the morning. Time goes by and no call, I called Greendot myself while I was at work and spoke to a lady who again understood my frustration and said she will put me in touch with her supervisor to have the funds released immediately for me.
After speaking with her supervisor whom did not help and told me there is nothing he can do and that I'd have my money back on February 15th, I spoke to his supervisor who was rude, disrespectful and did everything opposite of assisting a customer. Mind you this is around $150 missing from my account. Enough to make a fuss about. On top of that why is every employee from overseas not able to comprehend in an understanding matter, but want to service all of of America. PLEASE ONLY USE CHIME BANK, CURRENT BANK OR EMPOWER BANK. THEY ARE THE BEST FOR A PREPAID SITUATION.

We barely make ends meet, which is why we chose this card as the fees are relatively low and you get cash back at Walmart. However having been with this card for several years now we've run into a consistent issue. They change the deposit times without warning. We stopped calling the customer service last year after we get the same tired old line. We have direct deposit come through on this card from our work. We both work for large companies that do not change their deposit times willy nilly. Despite this fact we're always told, "when the employer issues pay, we issue it to the card immediately." No, they don't. We've spoken with HR. That is not the case, in any of the instances. It's great and all to get paid two days early, not so great when they decide to withhold that hard earned money for an extra day without notice. Then deny to it and put it on the employer.
I can't buy a gallon of milk much less food for my empty cupboards to feed my kids right now because Green Dot doesn't warn people when they might have issues or be updating their security. I budget right down to the day. There's is no savings account because we're poor. We don't rely on hand outs, food support or any assistance because we work hard not to. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does is when we have a great need to be paid on time. An extra day is make it or break it for a LARGE portion of this country. That means no gas to get to work tonight, no food on our table, and an extra $35 on top of rent for late fee. We're withdrawing our account and closing it the moment payment is received. Even if we have to wait two extra days to get readjusted, it'll be better than losing a full day's pay at the last minute because of greendot thinks anyone using a prepaid card has the financial status to deal with their laziness.

I wanted to start another account because I had a problem with my previous account. Several people that had Green Dot mentioned it to me. I like the availability and the variety of places that I can use Green Dot. It’s convenient, excellent, and it works at any ATM machine, most major department stores and super markets, pharmacies, and different things of that nature. So, it serves a lot of good purposes to me. I feel pretty good about it. I use Green Dot for my checks - the direct deposit coming from my job. I would like to have it at a bank where I don’t have to use the ATM machine or pay for using it. But that’s the only inconvenience. I gotta pay the ATM fee using it because they don’t have an actual building for me to go to like Citibank, Chase, TD or Bank of America. Otherwise, everything is fine.

Applied for card online, received card. Activated it online. Tried to create a Pin number, website will not let me activate. Say information does not match records. Have deposited 755.00 into account at Walmart. I can not use card, cannot withdraw my money. Customer Service Said they couldn't help. Went to Walmart where money was deposited, they were on phone with Green Dot for more than an hour, they have no solution to offer. They have $ 755.00 of my cash & I cannot get any of it out.

I like thank you. Just think the monthly fee is a little high in price. If you could find a cheaper monthly fee would be nice. Other than that I think you have good system and would love to keep using you all but the fee is drawling me to going and opening another bank account.

I suppose there are people that would benefit from this service but my experience has been horrible. The card was given to me as a Christmas gift. By the time I opened it (a week later) and found that I needed to register the card with all my personal info before first use, I had already lost $9.95 to their monthly fee. I finally figured out how to use the online account to send a payment. I was waiting for the check to clear so I could close the account and boom, another monthly $9.95 fee. I tried to deposit a check to cover the negative balance so I could close the account and received an error message... Nonsufficient funds to process a deposit, try again next month. Tried to reach their 24/7 customer service and got disconnected 4 times. This sucks! Who has time for this?! Most banks do not charge for checking accounts. That is all this is, a glorified, exorbitantly process checking account. Why would anyone put up with this?

Someone I knew was using Green Dot Card and told me about it. I heard you get paid two days earlier. And the person that I heard it from, they never had a problem with it. So I tried it out and I haven't had any issues with it. With it, I’ve been able to save in transferring money back-and-forth between people - me and people. It's very easy and fast. Overall, I like the statements, the quick transfers, and being able to transfer money between people, and between checkings and savings.

I like how Green Dot processes the check two days before it actually comes out. I usually schedule my payments around that now instead of waiting for Friday. It was also easy to get the card.

Having Green Dot is pretty much the same as any other debit card. I like the banking app which is nice. I've had the card for probably a year now and it's okay. But I don’t like that they charge $5 to put any money on it. I can only load $500 at a time so when I need to load more than that to pay bills, which is every two weeks, I'm paying $10 to put my money on a card and I think that’s a bit much. I just started doing direct deposit and that’s the reason why because I got charged so much. When I put on money on the card and it doesn’t come from my paycheck, I still get charged and I don’t think I should be.

I picked Green Dot out from looking at the display. It was the most reasonable one. That is my bank account and I use it, whenever I have a job, to get my direct deposit. Getting paid a couple days sooner helps out quite a bit. I use it for online transactions, paying each other with Facebook messenger and PayPal. The only bad thing I have about the card was I got locked up and my ex-girlfriend got access to my card somehow and was using it while I was in jail, without authorization. I couldn't figure anything on that on how that happened. I think she was able to get into my email, like the online deal because all the transactions that she did was online. I just let it go.
I got my new girlfriend a Green Dot card. We ended up getting two cards in the mail back for her. And it's the Unlimited Green Dot now. I was very satisfied with Green Dot and I suggest it. I like how I can transfer money from me to somebody else, good distance away, without having to do anything major online. It comes in handy.

Due to the loss of my Green Dot card I now have no way to access my money! WHATEVER YOU DO DON’T LOSE YOUR CARD. THEY WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO GET YOUR MONEY OUT. I literally cannot buy gas, groceries, nothing! My paychecks went into the account but since I reordered a replacement card as of Monday (today is Thursday) I still haven’t received the card and after speaking to customer service I was informed that they have until the 5th of February for it to arrive!! Today is the 30th! I am FURIOUS. I work 2 jobs and am a single mom who needs access to her money so I can feed my kids and put gas in my car to get to work!! When I asked if there was some other way to access my money I was told no I would have to wait! Green Dot you need to set up an alternate method to access funds, this is absolutely unacceptable!

I have been on hold for almost two hours to speak to a customer service representative. I have had an account with Green Dot for a few years now and never had any issues. Today however I have some very important questions in regards to my account that I must speak to someone. Online chat states it is unavailable, I have sent two emails in the last two days and they have not responded to either of those. I need to speak to someone and can't seem to get anyone to answer on all the avenues that have provided for contact.

I was approved for a TurboTax Refund Advance when I did my taxes. I was meant to get a loan/advance via a Green Dot card one hour after my taxes were accepted. Then, I started getting emails for another person about activating my card. Just a general email reminding me to look for my card in the mail. Ok, great. I waited for e-file to open. I got my card in the mail and set it up, anticipated the advance. After my return was accepted I should have seen my $500 loan "within an hour" on my green dot card per the info on the website. I waited 72 hours then called TurboTax. They told me I was declined. This was incorrect. Her supervisor said they saw that I was approved, then declined later. I was not informed of this. I was told to contact Green Dot at 8882854169. I explained that I was not able to access my advance loan.
The rep told me they have an issue and are working on it. He couldn't provide any other information, just the scripted response. No time for a fix. No other information provided. I asked for a manager and can expect the call in 24 hours. This is unacceptable. I received no emails about the issue and was told I should just keep checking the app for an update. I am not going to be able to access the advance I was approved for and "will know that it has been resolved when I get my tax refund deposit". This answer is not relevant, I'm asking about a loan not my irs refund.
I plan on closing this account as soon as I can transfer my funds from it, assuming I get them in a timely manner and have no more issues... I never would have used this turbo card green dot visa if I had not been approved for the advance on my refund. Please look into the matter and do the the right thing by the customers impacted by this and at the least notify them of the issue. Never again.

I have some unauthorized charges On my card. When I first tried disputing them I was told have to wait until it clears. And once it was cleared then I was told I had to go online, print a form out and then mail it in. Big huge inconvenience.

I transferred money from another banking account to my Green Dot account. Thinking it would take 3 days for the funds to be available. It’s be 4 days and my funds are still not avail. There’s no live REP to speak with regarding this matter. So unprofessional & I’ll like my money back immediately!!! Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

So I went through TurboTax this year for my tax return and I thought a cash advance would be nice so I went for it. TurboTax used Green Dot as their card holder and I received my card in a pretty timely fashion. However when I tried to use my card it failed unless it was for small purchases. I called the customer service line thinking that maybe had a fraud alert or something and then it could be handled quickly. I was on hold for over an hour and the person I finally got to speak to barely spoke English. Their resolution? To get me a card within a week and say that it is an issue with the card itself and it is a known issue.
They offered me no check or ability to transfer my funds so my fans are basically in limbo until whenever they decide to get a card to me if that even works. It's a huge scam and when I try to use the routing number and account information to make an online purchase it is also declined even though I was assured that I could do that even though my new card is still on the way. I'm upset and disappointed and I will never use TurboTax or Green Dot Ever again.

I was trying to cash my check and have a checking account. So, I ended up putting it on my bank, the direct deposit from my work. I get it every single month and the day before, usually. That helps. I like the direct deposit. Also, I get a balance alert a lot faster than I did with my other card. So, if it’s ever lost or stolen, I know if it’s being used. I love the app. That’s the only reason why I use Green Dot. I’m on my phone 24/7 with work and the app helps me keep track of everything. It’s just that I pay a lot of fees. I pay $1.50 for every time I use the card.

I was a victim of fraud. Somehow they allowed someone to take money out of a ATM in a city 20 miles away. They refuse to be professional and or allow any type of update on disputes. They are not customer friendly and look for any reason to deny you your right to fraud protection. I've been in contact with the BBB and now a lawyer, they will be paying more than what they could have. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY.

I'm happy with my Green Dot card. I love the stash/unstash part of it. I like that I can use it anywhere visa is taken. Thank you for allowing me to use green dot services. I am grateful. The only problem I would say about it are the atm fees for when I take money out. I can do without the fees. Thank you very much. Sincerely a happy customer.

I figured the Green Dot card would be a great option to receive part of my tax return sooner. Big mistake. The systems have been down since I signed up. Customer service is horrific, they just repeat the same thing when you ask questions like they are reading a script they can’t divert from. Hopefully, I can figure out how to transfer the funds to my bank account. You’ve lost my business for good.

One of my friends told us about Green Dot so we went to it, and I've been using them for four years. But I'm not very happy with them. A couple of weeks ago, my husband's account got hacked. It happened on a Friday or a Thursday night. When I got online to check how much money we had in his account, I noticed that there was money missing. He called Green Dot and told them about it. They gave us a new card then we asked if they were gonna replace the money. It was $70 they took out in Florida. They said we should have called. My husband told them he did call. But they were not gonna replace the money. We're closing his account within this week. Also, when we call the number at the back of the card, customer service half the time can be really rude and they don't know anything. You can't understand what they're saying too.

Would not recommend a Green Dot card to anyone. I've had money to disappear off of this card numerous times. Then, when you need a large amount off the card at a ATM, you can only get 500 which sometimes is not enough. Having to pay to get your own money off of a green dot card that you work hard for is ridiculous.

The Green Dot Corporation is the worst. Has ZERO customer support so if you have an issue like you have no way to change your address because they sent it to the wrong one and their automated system can’t fix it you’re out of luck and out of money! So now I have 1000 dollars on a card I can’t receive because I never received my card to to know its numbers?

I've been a happy Green Dot customer for years - most notably when someone my identity and this company was the only one who didn't allow theif access into my accounts (3 major banks did). I've never had problems adding money or using the card or disputing transactions, but lately my experience has been that customer service is either untrained or just uncaring. I disputed transactions that were incorrect hut was given no opportunity to send in proof so I was not surprised when they were denied. Until now it has always been my experience that the dispute resolution department did diligent research even without the customer providing information and this has just not been the case. Very disappointed.

There's a serious problem with when you call and you have a problem with your card. You can never get a live person. It's always an automated service and when you call and chat and they tell you to log on to your account. You log on to your account and they disconnected drop your call.

I will never get a Greendot card again as long as I live. I made a purchase that was canceled the very next day. The merchant sent a notification to greendot to release my funds. Greendot will not release my money and us holding it for 14 days. The merchant has even contacted them and they will not remove the hold. I have spoke to a supervisor who still says there is nothing they can do. $440 that I have to wait 14 days to get back even though they have been told to release the funds!

Updated on 02/01/2020: On Jan 28 after 1 month of resubmitting and them saying they can't find what I submitted they finally sent a refund response granting my refund except it's been since the 28 of Jan and I still don't have my refund.
Original review: I have used MoneyPak quite often to send money to friends and family. Recently, I went into the local 7-11 and purchased two MoneyPaks, one in the amount of $500 and one in the amount of $300. My son moved two states away and was in need of some financial assistance. After I purchased the MoneyPaks, I had spoken with my son who told me that he didn't have a current Green Dot card. His had expired and he would have to wait to load the monies onto a new card. Instead of letting the money just sit in cyberspace on the MoneyPaks, I decided to transfer the money back to myself. I have a current Green Dot card and haven't ever had a problem using it.
When I initiated the transfer, I first got a message telling me that I needed to wait at least 20 minutes from time of purchase to load the money to a card. I waited 30 minutes and tried again. I got a message that said "Error. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we are unable to process this transaction. Please try again later." I tried with both MoneyPak cards and this is the message that comes up.
I have filed a request for a refund, with no results. I received an email that told me that someone from Green Dot would be responding within one business day. It has been SEVERAL days, and there have been no phone calls, no emails. I can't contact a live person within Green Dot's customer service or Corporate office. I need that $800. I cannot afford a loss that large. I am at wit's end and don't know what to do to get a result. I do know that I am no longer impressed with Green Dot or its products and after this issue is resolved, I highly doubt that I will use their card anymore.

I will NEVER use Green Dot or refer greendot to ANYONE! It is absurd that as a "customer" I would be treated so unfairly and wrong. This is NO WAY to do business. My account is not only LOCKED but CLOSED unbeknownst because of a $100 MoneyPak fraud claim so they took the $100 back, closed my account and will NOT give me the rest of MY money back or access to my account. Just like that! They are keeping my money and I can not do anything about it. It is NOT okay to treat your customers this way! Even trying to get information about what moneypak load numbers filed the fraud claim to correct this false fraud claim with my client is ridiculous!
I call customer service and a whole hour later get someone remote in the Philippines who can't even help me! Then I had to wait for a call back from a supervisor who also was remote and could not help me. At this point I am LIVID and had to go higher in the chain of command and wait for a corporate call back. And still when I get a call from corporate who is now finally in the US (CA) I'm told the ONLY way to get my money is for the recipient who filed the fraud claim to write them a letter stating it was a false claim with copies of the receipt and picture copies of the front and back to "their" greendot card. They gave me corporate email c3@greendotcorp.com and phone number 866-652-4611 Ext **.
I know that I am not the only one and seeing all the other bad reviews just really saddens me! We work hard for our money and especially me as a single mother with 3 kids greendot should be ashamed. This is unacceptable! There are so many competitors to transfer money. If you are doing business DO NOT USE GREENDOT. There is Venmo, Zelle or Quelle. Greendot I want my money back and you are so quick to not want to do business with me. Well I definitely do not want to EVER do business with you!

I loaded $20 on to a MoneyPak card so I could put the initial funds in my prepaid card. They stole my $20. First the site told me my login I just created and wrote down was invalid. That was when I found out there is no way to contact a live person to resolve the issue. Then the site finally let me logon and told me my card was invalid. DON'T EVER PURCHASE A GREEN DOT PRODUCT. I will absolutely never use any Green Dot product nor that of any company directly affiliated with them. I'm glad I only lost $20 finding out how fraudulent this company is. Fool me once... I was REQUIRED to give this fraudulent company 1 star in order to leave this warning. They absolutely don't deserve it.

I’ve had this card for a while now. It's working out pretty good. My paydays are earlier than before. The app is awesome because I can put stuff in my Stash. Even if I have a car payment coming out of it, they can’t take the money off of there, even if it’s in my Stash and there’s enough. I’ve enjoyed that because then they have to call me, and I could tell them that they can take it. As soon as I switch it over, I don’t have to wait a tremendous long time to use it. I’m really impressed with the card.
The one thing that I ran into with this card was when they have promotions going around. For example, I'm only up to 100 with my cashback tracker, and then there was a time when they were having a promotion where it was up to 2, if not plus. But it didn't work for me like that. I can’t sign up for them because I’m already a cardholder. They should email cardholders or shoot us a text to tell us if they have this promotion going around, and then provide the promo code. I’m a faithful cardholder that uses this card for my work, my direct deposits, and it’s my everyday card.
Last year, I used the card for my income tax. They had some promotion going around last year where you could get so much money if you use this card for Green Dot. But I couldn’t do it because I’m already a cardholder. So that kinda sucks. And then I tried doing it one time, and they sent me another card. Also, whenever I go to certain places, I can’t use my card there because they’ll charge me twice. I don’t get why that does that. We have a Trex in Trimble that does it often. I’ll go in there to get gas and spend 50 bucks, but when I looked again, it charged me 50 bucks before I even pumped my gas.

I was looking for a prepaid card and I saw Green Dot in Walmart. I’ve had it ever since and I like that paydays come a few days early. My checks are direct deposited every two weeks, so I have never had a need to reload the card. I pay my bills and buy groceries with it, which are everyday stuff that I would do with a regular checking account at any bank. The only thing negative and the biggest thing, that at any time I withdraw cash out of an ATM, I’m getting charged with an ATM fee not only from the company that I’m withdrawing from, but also an ATM fee from them. So, I’m getting charged twice just to withdraw money.

I think that it is so unfair that the cash back reward changed from $200 to $100 without notice. Honestly if you were enrolled at the time that the promotion was going, credit should be applied. I'm disappointed that Green Dot makes it difficult to send money to another account. In order to receive money they make you sign up your personal bank info, then it takes days before the recipient is able to access money. It is the same if a Green Dot customer wants to send money to another Green Dot customer. You never get the money.

So I've had a pretty positive experience with using the Green Dot prepaid card. I like the fact that my paychecks are deposited up to 2 days early and I think the cash back feature is good. I do wish it would be more than 3% earned on purchases, but it adds up if you use the card a lot. The first thing that I do have an issue with is that I'm not able to use the the mobile check cashing feature yet. I've had my card for over a year and have had a lot of money transferred to it, plus direct deposits coming in every week, but when I've tried to cash a check on the app, I get a message saying that my account needs more history to be able to cash checks.... how much more history is needed??
Over a year's worth of direct deposits and transfers and I'm still not able to cash a check??....that's kind of unfair and a downfall to using the card. Another is the $9.95 monthly fee. Especially for how much I use it. That fee should be waived, and I even read that it would be, but I haven't gotten a break from that fee since I started using the card. Kind of a bummer that its falsely advertised. Been shopping around for a cheaper or no monthly fee card, and one that will allow me to cash checks made out to me....

There are too many fees meaning atm and personal fees. Why do I have to pay two fees to get my own money out the atm. I shouldn't have to pay the atm fee plus the fee from Green Dot. It's not fair and cost too much.

I love my Green Dot card. It's simple. No overdraft fees. The transactions are immediate and I always know how much money I have available. Get my paychecks early. The only drawback is not being considered a "real" bank since it's a prepaid card. I cannot set up this card for certain things even I use the routing and checking account numbers. I wish GreenDot had a contract with Experian for the boost because I pay bills with this card and I also wish I was able to connect it to my CashApp account as a bank to be able to send money to others who do not have GreenDot. I got my card about a year again and I love it. The refill process is easy and quick. Within a few minutes of refilling I am able to use my card. I use my card when I don’t want to carry cash and when I don’t want to associate my bank account with a purchase. Love my Green Dot card.

I think that the policy you have in place for cashback should be changed from a year to collect to whenever you reach a $100.00. I use my card for everything. It’s only been 6 months and I have already reached the $100.00 cashback goal. I am making so many purchases that I won’t get credit for.

I love this card and love the cash back feature that is on it. However I feel the monthly fee is a bit much and definitely don't like that it makes my account negative. It would also be awesome to be able to upgrade to the unlimited cash back card without having to apply for a new one.

I do not like the fact that every time I need to pull out money I always have to pay $3 from other banks. I wish that some time soon you will be able to have your own ATM around town to make it easier to pull out money and to put money in our accounts. I think it's also unfair that there is a $10 monthly payment. If we have automatic bill pay and direct deposit we should not have to pay the monthly payment.

You have no problem taking my money and charging me fees but if I have an issue or want to transfer funds, it's a series of roadblocks and dead ends. I made an online purchase recently with a foreign company. Never received what I ordered and when I asked for help from you, got nothing. Tried sending money to a friend and it took hours to accomplish. You act like a bank but give none of the protection or resources, even though you have all the resources. You have driven me to go back to actual banks since you will do nothing for me. I used to recommend Green Dot but not anymore. You should put your resources to helping those that you're taking money from. We're literally keeping your business a float. But this is all a waste. Like a fart in the wind. Just another money hungry conglomerate that's forgotten the people.

Service works good. Monthly fee too high. I had use it with variety of internet purchases. Use it two to five times a month pay at close by had last visa used overseas about seven hundred dollars. I love my Green Dot visa. It’s very easy to reload and if I do have any problems it’s usually resolved quickly. There is a few issues I have that I can’t get resolved. I am married and not only can I not add my husband to my account if I have a check with both our names I cannot put it in my account. Tax time is near and I am gonna have to take my business elsewhere.

I had a question about transferring money to another account and I used the chat option to message someone to answer my question and the response was so fast and they answered any other question I had. They also was very thankful and super fast then a couple days later for being a customer for so long. They have me a 100 BUCKS like I needed that little extra cash so bad. Account was supposed to waive fees after I made it direct deposit (as advertised). It did not, and it took SEVERAL customer "service" reps telling me SEVERAL different stories to finally tell me that the account could NOT waive fees regardless of my direct deposit from my employer. It's easy enough to put money on my Green Dot card. The only issue right now is getting my direct deposit to go through but that's something at my work's end and not Green Dot's. Other than that, I'm pleased with the Green Dot card. It's very convenient and I'm easily able to pay my bills and make online purchases with it. Everything is going pretty good.

When I signed up my cash back was $250. Once I hit $100 it was dropped to $100. Bait and switch.???? I feel that you will take away the $100 before I reach the 12 month period. I like the app and the ease of use but I’m still mad about the cash back feature.

I am happy with my account. The only problem I have is they changed my cash back amount and I lost over half I had saved. They did this on their own and now it is not the amount I signed up for. It was nice to be able to chat with someone on another matter and that issue was fixed quickly.

Hello, Overall I have been happy with the card. I like that it works like a normal card but is a bit safer and cheaper than a bank account debit card. The only issue I have, is that it is technically viewed as a prepaid card. AfterPay and Grove Collaborate are just a few of the companies I have been wanting to purchase from but I can't because my card is not accepted there. I wish there was a way to keep Green Dot the same but have it be accepted more places and for online purchases.

Normal day to day transactions work fine. Trying to use Green Dot for money transfers on apps like Venmo does not work. Trying to use Green Dot for apps for cash advance does not work. It's a great deal for normal things, not for everything a normal card can do.

I earned over $250 dollars cash back in a matter of 6 or 7 months by using my card to pay for items in store and paying Bill's. I was aware I could only earn up to a certain amount. I believe it was capped at 200 or 250. I opened my app one day to check my account and saw that I now only have 100 dollars earned that I can redeem after my year is up. I would like to know why, I never went a full month with a 0 dollar balance. I always deposited cash or a direct deposit to stay in the clear of the terms for redeeming said cash back.

Hey everything has been going great with Green Dot. I love it. My only complaint and concern is, there is a company called Shoe Dazzle that charged my card 39.00 that I did not authorize. When this happened I had no way of contacting anyone to let them know or how to put in a claim concerning this matter via online banking. Please stop that company from charging my card. With new Banks like chime and other online cards like this that don't charge fees per month that's the only downfall. I haven't switched because I've always been a Green. Fan however if I keep getting charged $8 every time every month for not putting $1,000 on my card because I'm not rich I may have to switch. I think that's the only downfall is there's plenty of other cards out there that have direct deposit 2 days early that don't get charged $8 every time.

The card is great but the companies that offer reloading service, Family Dollar specifically, make it very difficult. If they have had multiple loads in one day, your card will decline a load. Supposedly this is fraud prevention but it makes it extremely difficult for those of us who need to load the card to be able to. Or it will only allow one load, when you need to load more than 500. It causes major inconveniences. Having to drive all over town to load the card costs way too much time and money.

I have enjoyed using my Green Dot card, I use it for my direct deposit every payday as well as every day purchases, bill pay as well as online purchases. I have not had any problems when I use it. I have only had dispute a couple charges since having my card and they made it quick and easy for me to do so. I have recommended Green Dot to multiple friends and family members who have had no complaints after getting a card for them self.
So with that said I only have 1 complaint with my Green Dot experience, my 12 month cash back amount was $250 when I first activated my card and I used my card enough that within a few short months I had nearly hit the $250 mark. I was currently around $240 and I logged into my account one day and noticed my 12 month C.B. amount had been changed to a $100 limit, I contacted customer service about this and they reassured me that it would be changed back to my original amount of $250.
Well it has been months now since I was told it would be corrected and it still has not been fixed. I have not been able to get any answers on why it still has not been corrected. Only thing I have been told is that something happened that made it drop to the $100 limit but it would be fixed. No one can tell me when it will be.But like I said this would be my only complaint I have at this time with your service. Other than that I have enjoyed using my card. But if you can help me with my 1 and only issue I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time and reading my review.

Great card but dont like the fees and I have not ever got the mobile deposit to work for me and never can get a live person on the phone.... other than that it's great, great offers and love the vault thing.

I highly recommend Green Dot to my family and friends. Green Dot has always been available to respond to questions and concerns. The representatives genuinely cares about the Green Dot customer experience. Setting up direct deposit and opening up an account was very simple and easy. I am very pleased with my Green Dot card. It's now my primary checking account. I can use it at the ATM. It has the CHIP feature. However, the credit limit per day is $500 to withdraw. Maybe one day we can order checks. I've been a customer for at least 10 years. The card now has my Social Security feature as I'm now a Retiree. Thank you, Laura **. Pho# **.

I love Green Dot. It’s easy and convenient, super fast, and simple. I only wish there was more ATMs in my area because no one likes paying those fees. And not having to pay a monthly fee (because my direct deposit is above the amount required) is great as well.

Love the convenience of being able to load money and pay bills. It's super easy to use and fast to load money. Setting up direct deposit is easy and the money is available as soon as they see it coming in which may even be a few days early!

I have had Green Dot for a while now and I have never had any problems. I really like it. I cant get a bank account. Why I cant get one, I'm not sure why. But since everything in online now. I can get all my bills paid online.

To be perfectly honest I'm in love with this card, but one thing I dont like about the card is waiting a whole year to receive your cashback. I use my card so much. I'm at 100 dollars now and can't get the cashback. But that's my only downfall about the card, other than that I love it. Thanks.

My only complaint is really the cost of the account. It used to be that if you had direct deposit, the account was free. At some point, that was removed and now it's ten bucks a month. So, that's ten bucks a month, plus $5 anytime you need to load money onto your card or into your account, and that adds up. There's a cashback feature which kind of balances out the cost of the account, so that's some comfort, but the point of a cashback thing is to have more money at the end of it. Most everything else is great! There has been once or twice that I haven't been able to use this account for payment of some kind, but nine times out of 10 it's fabulous.

I earned $250 in my cashback tracker on my account. I have screenshots proving I earned every penny. As of a few months ago my tracker went to $100 randomly. Green Dot stole $150 from what I earned. Æ

I have been a customer of Green Dot for a while now. I enjoy their services well and think it is an easy to use and setup style of banking. I haven't had any issues with my account, so no complaints there. I do have one concern. When I first joined, I used to be able to earn cashback rewards up to $250 annually. After a few changes by Green Dot, my account can only earn $100 annually. At the time of change, I wasn't maxed at $250 but did have at least $210 towards my cashback rewards. Now my mind wonders what happened to the other $100 or so that I had earned from my spendings.

Very easy to load money on cards of family members. Like the fact you can immediately check your account online. The only negative I have is the 7.95 per month service fee. Also like you can pay accounts with the routing and account number.

I like my GreenDot card. It helps me do a lot of things I cant do with cash. Also they have a great program. To waive your monthly fee with deposits and 3% on savings how could you go wrong. LOVE GREENDOT.

I have been happy with my GreenDot account, I have no complaints. I have recommended it to friends that have a hard time with budgeting their money since it's fast and easy to use. If I had to find something that was an issue it's that I can't transfer money from my CashApp to my GreenDot account.

I am very satisfied with my GreenDot card. It comes in real handy to pay my bills and make online purchases. It is also very virtual in teaching me how to save money and keep on eye on how much on my finances I spend on and the majority of my expenses are through my card.

The hardest most irritating things I've felt with this far is Green Dot being recognized as a prepaid debit card. Lot of places wont accept it. Not enough location for cash withdraw. If Green Dot is a part of Walmart. What am I being. Charged twice. One to cash and 2 deposit.

I love this card. I like that you can stash money, like a savings account, it sends you alerts for purchases and deposits, and I love the ability to deposit checks via the app. The fees are fair. The only thing I would change, is the ability to withdraw more than $500 per day. I like to pay my rent in cash and it’s a two day process and I end up having to pay the ATM fee twice. I did order checks, but I hate waiting on the landlord to cash it.

All the features of these cards work well. All transactions can be done quickly. The only thing I would like to see change is money transfers to other cards. I do all my banking with Green Dot. Sometimes a $500 transfer is not enough.

I have been using this card for almost a year. I had $250 cash back and now only showing $100. I have tried multiple times to get an explanation to no avail. Maybe you could explain why it's so hard to contact customer service, to get questions answered.

The monthly charge that is taken every month is a lot. There are cards that do not charge a fee monthly. I wish you would change it so the money that is put on there actually stays on there until we, the consumers take it off.

For the most part my experience has been good. But the monthly fee seems excessive, since I am having at least two monthly deposits. As well as I don't like that I can use it with Venmo or PayPal. I am curious as to when I travel internationally how it will work or if I will have issues?

Is there any reason why a monthly maintenance fee should be charged for use or non-use of the card? This takes away from being able to accurately keep up with the balance and it also makes it hard to use the card at any ATM in the area where I live. The Allpoint ATM's are the best with the other card I have and there are no monthly maintenance fees to use my card and Allpoint ATM's are free to use.

Let's see. When I first joined Green Dot I recommend you do you guys to everyone and I was thrilled. I worked up to a $250 bonus which stated that was the max I could earn and I was fine with that. It stayed that way for months. Then one day I go into my account and it drop down to like $100 or $150 on the bonus cashback rewards. I contacted Green Dot four times and no one could help me. I was told that the max reward was what's in my account now. Which is total BS because we all know I had a $250 reward sitting there for me for months and you took it away and for that I stopped recommending Your company and I'm considering switching to another online bank. You shouldn't make people promises and then take them away just because you feel like having a change of policy. That's how I feel about your company. I gave up and trying to get the bonus fixed because everybody seems to think it was always $100 or whatever and I know that's BS.
