Bought a prepaid card to use until I got back home to my real actual debit card. You pay $2 for the card and have to load no less than $10 on the card in order to use it. If you load any additional cash on the card there's an additional fee of "up to 4.95" ($5) each time. So let's just say $20 dollars for the start up. Now if you do it electronically there's a background check (no kidding) birthday, social security number, verification on where you've lived in the last 10 years and in some cases additional forms of identification (yes, this may include a faxed of emailed state issued photo id).
Here's the thing. You only spend what you load on the card. Why do they need all this information? I don't physically have my card but I can use Android pay wherever it's available and that's my problem, it's not available everywhere. Oh forgot to mention it's not a secure card if you drop or lose it. I swiped the card for a purchase and that's it. Food was paid for. Customer service and the Vista bank associated with the card isn't going to get the money back. They've already got their money from you and will happily bounce you back and forth until you give up.

First off I purchased the Green Dot cash back white card. Went to register online said I would have to wait 24 hrs to activate. Called customer service of course they can't help because this card can only be registered online. 27 hrs later I go to register and activate and not even 20 min later some company has charged me for over half the amount of money I loaded on. NO HELP from no one...

I got my card when I was laid off and didn't have a bank account. It was easy to setup the direct deposit with my new job and I was able to use it just like any credit or bank card. It was a very good experience; the convenience of it was great. I would have liked to keep it a little longer but I was laid off again so until next time. :]

Don't use this card. It's a checking account look alike. It has limited features with absolutely no benefits to anyone other than Green Dot. You are charged to add money to your account. They claim you will get your funds faster by using direct deposit. Not true, I am setup for direct deposit and the funds are deposited on the same day as my previous checking account with direct deposit.
I used the card on July 7th when checking in at a hotel. As usual with most hotels you will need to secure the room with a deposit. I noticed it had been over five days and the deposit was still pending. I used online chat to ask the question about when the funds we be added back to my available balance. I was informed it would be two more weeks. If I had stayed at my previous bank it would have only been three days or less. If you want to a pay a bill by ACH from your account, sorry better think again. This is not a checking account. They will pay the bill by check but not ACH. One last thing. This card carries a stigma that only people who do not qualify for a checking account must use this type of service.

While I understand that a 24 hour lock out may work for protecting cards when activated. I find that locking out WHILE registering is an issue. I attempted multiple times to register my new card (I assume it hadn't been updated fully into the database from the store I bought it to you) because it kept saying the card was invalid. After an hour or so I tried it again and the site said I was locked out for a whole day due to multiple attempts. This seems pointless at this point because I can't attempt to crack a number while trying to register it especially when it hasn't yet BEEN registered. The time in which you're locked out is also extremely outrageous, a 24 hour lock out is too much. I'd suggest a 2 hour or so lock out and monitoring of IP addresses were invalid entries come from if they are coming often.

There have been many times that I am not able to use my card or the app. I keep my money in the vault unless I need to use it & there have been many times the app is not available to transfer money & several times where the whole system has been down to where I couldn't use my card at all. You know how embarrassing it is to be told your card is declined when you know there is plenty of money available, all because the system is down?

I purchased a Green Dot card at my local Walmart. When I try to activate it... it says invalid. Walmart can't do anything and unless I have a valid card I can't reach anyone so at this point I'm out my money with this worthless card that I needed to pay a bill with.

We purchased the card for my daughter to use for ATMs to get cash while traveling & not have to carry a large amount of cash. According to the packaging it would be good for ATMs and internationally. She registered the card after purchasing and then received a notice stating she didn't pass security verification and did not have cash access & it couldn't be used internationally.
We tried to call the customer service line, but only received options for direct deposit, transaction review & balance inquiry. We were never able to speak to someone. Then we called the line to register the card & attempted a refund, but you can't request a refund once you have registered. We couldn't reach anyone in customer service no matter what. There was no reason why she didn't meet security verification. She's going to be out the few for the card & the monthly fee for a card that she cannot use as the packaging lead her to believe she would be able to. I would never recommend doing business with this type of company.

I am happy with my overall experience. There is one drawback to this card that should be at least considered. If I take a check into Walmart to deposit it on my card, it doesn't make sense that I am charged a check cashing fee. I'm depositing it. Why is this allowed? I can continue my regular bank account if I want to be nickel and dimed to death. Otherwise, a good experience with my MoneyCard. I love the app and notifications. Makes keeping up with my purchases hassle-free.

My 15 yr old son bought this card thinking it was a prepaid Visa card. In order to use it they need a social security number. I don't want to give out this information. Tried calling the number on the card and I can't get a live person. All it does is bump me back to you need to register this card online. I think he just lost $200 and there's nothing I can do about it. He works hard for his money and that's unfair.

My son won this gift card at work. He tried to purchase shoes at Lord & Taylor, however, it never went through. They took the $179 from his gift card, however, when I called Lord & Taylor about a confirmation for the order, they said it would not go through because they do not accept Walmart Visa Debit cards for online purchases. The order was placed on 6/18/17, I was told on 6/19/17 that the money would be refunded onto the gift card within 7 business days. As of July 6, 2017, the money has not been refunded to the card. I called them again and they gave me a case # and was told it would be reviewed. That was on 6/30. I called today and it hasn't even been looked at yet & they suggested I notify the bank.
If this is not resolved, I will go to the Better Business Bureau and every TV station that helps resolves these issues. Also, I cannot get a live customer service when I call the number on the Gift Card or Green Dot bank. I am beyond frustrated. I also faxed information over to this bank over a week ago and no response. Please help get this money refunded to our card.

Don't ever use Green Dot! I made a purchase at Macy's online using one of my accounts from another bank, I have since closed that account but needed to return this item. Macy's gave me the option to refund it on another card so I used my Green Dot card to refund it to. When the money went into my account they instantly blocked it because they didn't see the original purchase for the refund, not only do I not have access that money but they blocked my whole account so I can't access any of my money. I have to take pictures of my receipt from the original purchase and return receipt and email it to them. It apparently takes two business days to process and I am on vacation and this is the only money I had access to so this has left me in a very difficult position considering I have absolutely no money on me for my hotel, food, and everything else I need while I'm away from home.
ALSO, when I called the guy who I spoke to said that he was the highest up in his department and that I couldn't speak to anyone higher, but when I called back a second time the lady said she would see if there was someone higher up that was available and put me on hold for literally 1 second and came back saying no one was available but they will call me back sometime today. The whole experience is ridiculous. I can't wait to get all of my money out, close all of my Green Dot accounts, and get a REAL bank account with an ACTUAL bank.

I put my last bit of money on a prepaid card on the 1st. It's the fourth. I haven't been able to do ANYTHING with this card. It says I HAVE to register/activate this card online. For four days now it has said that the system is down or I have reached the maximum tries to activate the card within 24 hours when it's my first time trying to register that day. I've used the picture to load the card number and typed it. None of this has worked.
I've called the number on the back of the card, the number on the receipt, the Green Dot bank, the green dot headquarters I cannot reach a person. I try to get a refund it tells me to do so online. Which I can't because the card isn't even activated. I've tried the app nothing is working so I'm 4 days in, I need things and can't get them due to the horrible lack of humanity in your business. Thanks for a great fourth of July and thanks for my kids missing out on talking to their dad because we can't touch the money on our card. Never will I ever refer a soul to use this card again in my lifetime. I'm past fed up with feeling like I can't even talk to someone about a product you are selling.

My normal bank made a mistake and had to void the teller withdrawal from the Green Dot card. It has been 5 days and Green Dot will not put my money back on my card!!! They continue to say it will be on or after July 8th!!! They have all the return codes from my banks credit card vendor however refuse to give me MY money!! Do yourself a favor and don't trust Green Dot!!!

I love my Green Dot Prepaid Card. I tell all my friends and family it is the way to handle their money, I will never use a bank again. I get all my direct deposits as soon as they are posted, no waiting like with a bank. And I never have any hidden fees. I love the vault feature, definitely helps my paycheck to paycheck family stretch our funds.

I don't have any complaints. Thus far I have not had any negative issues. I love that I get paid a day (sometimes two days) earlier than I would with normal direct deposit. I'm glad I switched the bulk of my pay to my Walmart card. It has been convenient and I love the cash back feature.

I had to shut my Green Dot card down. Someone took all my money. I reported it and never got my money back as they were pending the transfer. I call and ask you to stop it. I did not order nothing especially something out of the United States. The person on the phone said they would have to check on it to see if I purchased something but I did not. But they did not believe me and so I am thankful it was only about a little under 200. But I would not recommend green dot to people. Maybe if I got my money back.

I've been nothing but satisfied with my card experience. The only irksome thing I've had is that the bank account registered to the card does not show as an actual account, so I had to keep my regular bank account open to pay things such as my car payment.

I appreciate the early texts about my paycheck deposits and the fact that I get my pay a day earlier now. I wish it was quicker to get your balance when calling the 800 #. I don't like listening to a bunch of information, that doesn't pertain to me, when all I want is my balance.

I recently found a Green Dot reloadable prepaid Visa that was given to me as a gift a couple of years ago. I never used it. I actually just opened the theft-proof packaging when I found it. I noticed there was an expiration date, so I went on to the website to see what I could do to have it replaced. The first thing the website said was to register the card, so I entered the card number and code on the back of the card. The website said it was ALREADY registered. So, I tried activating the card. It said it had to be registered before I can activate it- wait, what? I searched the website for answers.
There's a FAQ for expired cards.. All it said was if my card was expired I would be receiving a new one. How is that possible if I never gave them my information? The frustration begins. I decided to call the toll free number thinking I could SPEAK to someone. The first thing it asks me is for the card number. I enter the information and first says that it NEEDS TO BE REGISTERED. Then it transfers me to another option to register, so I enter the numbers... NO- NOT A RECOGNIZED ACCOUNT.
Back and forth, going from one option to another. Hanging up calling back, perhaps pressing zero will give me live person. No option ever to speak to a live person. That is the worst customer service for any business, to not have the option to speak to someone. Not even a message to say I'm calling outside of business hours and to call back at another time to speak with a customer service representative. So I go back to the website to see if there's a mailing address. If there is, it's not easy to find. I just noticed a mailing address when I came to this Consumer Affairs website. Now I have to write a letter. Explain all this. All over again. Anyway, I just wanted to say something about this extremely frustrating and aggravating experience.

My husband has a Green Dot card. We live in Tx. Never leave Texas. Yesterday 4 purchases were made at 4 separate locations in Pennsylvania!! For over $420!! When we contacted Green Dot they said because the purchases were still pending, they couldn't do anything for 7 days! So now we are broke for 7 days with 3 kids! All due to someone committing fraud! We contacted corporate offices of the stores where the purchases were made. A new card is being mailed to us. But we are still without money!! Thanks Green Dot for having our backs after we have been with you for years!! This should not be allowed! They should be able to cancel the transactions since they can tell we aren't in Pennsylvania!!! This is the worst I've ever seen business being handled!!!!

I got my Green Dot card as a birthday gift and when I went to check the balance it says there was a monthly charge that I was definitely not aware of and instead of $20 I instead had $12.05. It had taken $7.95 out of my account and this was upsetting for me because I am trying to save money not lose it.

Great card to have. You can use it just about anywhere. Just wish the loading fee was just a tad cheaper. Other than that, I highly recommend it! The customer service line is great to use, very easy and twenty four hour access. Thank you Green Dot!

I am very happy with the account. Makes it very easy to manage my money, and pay bills. Never have to worry about overdrafts or extra fees. The only thing I would change is the fees associated with cashing a check, seems a little excessive when you get charged to make the deposit to your account.

I so love having this account. My funds are there two days early which is a plus. I have easy access online to check my transactions, balances and deposits. When I use my debit card when making purchases, I have no problems with using the card or even when I use the my card at the ATM machine. Thank you Green Dot.

It's easy and cheaper than banking account, I would recommend to a friend. And I like the rewards you get, even tho I haven't won any money. The only thing I don't like is I'm charged at every ATM and some ATMs I can't even use.

I've had no troubles with the card. It has helped me to pay bills and have a place to have my check deposited. I've had some financial troubles in the past and am unable to get a checking account with most conventional banks and this has been a life saver for me.

I like the fact of extra early deposit for checks. I don't like being charged $2.50 fees each time I take cash out of my account. That adds up fast when you need to get money out for cash or buying money orders.

Overall, very happy with the Walmart Debit Card. My paycheck gets deposited early, with no fees. This is a great way to get access to direct deposits, without the hassle and costs of a checking account. Best of all, you can't spend what you don't have, so no overdrafts.

For the most part, I love my Walmart Moneycard. I like doing everything at Walmart, but not all the cashiers are aware they can load money from any register, not just The Money Center. Not all companies accept it (i.e. Uber). I like that checks have to be preapproved.

I love that you can receive cash back every year from shopping at Walmart. I only wish they had a kiosk available in my town for when customer service or the money center is not open. I have never had any problems with the card and even switched my direct deposit over to the money card even though I have a bank account.

I have had no issues with the card. My direct deposit is usually in two days early but more often one day early. I do have an issue with being able to accept money thru Facebook which was a feature I had with an old Green Dot account.

I really enjoy the Walmart Money Card. I just wish there were a variety of places to get cash off my card without having to go to Walmart. Whenever I try to get money off of my card before heading to work, I go to Walmart, but their customer service doesn't open up until 8 AM. That is very frustrating, especially when I need the money ASAP. Thanks!

I cannot use the card at the pump at service island. I must always go in station and pre purchase gas. I can never fill my fuel tank. Other than that I am very satisfied with the card. I am also satisfied with the paper checks.

The only real complaint I have is that I cannot use the card or "bank account" information (checking and routing numbers) for a number of things, such as Square and monthly subscriptions to a few companies. This is quite inconvenient seeing as I need either a card or bank account number to use certain things, otherwise I have to rely on someone else to enroll for me and I reimburse them OR I simply cannot use things at all, such as Square.

I have been with Green Dot for years. I use the card primarily so that I can have access to my direct deposit a day early. Recently, I purchased some weight loss pills from a company called Garcinia. The fraudulent company then came days later and debited my card totaling $167. I called Green Dot to express that I did not authorize the additional transactions and to file a dispute. After a week and my calling twice to check the dispute, today Green Dot closed my account.
When I called, their response to me was that I make inconsistent transactions! Biweekly my entire check goes to this card. Which means that all my bills are paid with this card. Is my direct deposit inconsistent? Is my paying bills inconsistent? You were my bank! If there is an error per your policy I'm supposed to inform you, and when I do you close my account so you don't have to reimburse me for the money that was stolen from me? I'm posting this on every site I can find, and first thing in the morning I'm contacting my lawyer! I'm so upset I can cry. Not only was I a victim from a fraudulent company, but my Bank, the people I entrusted with my money, just shut me out! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

I think it is a great pay card. I use it for direct deposit and everyday transactions. The only added benefit would be more ATM availability without fees. The extra $25 incentive for signing up is a big plus. Another added benefit is that you can order checks to pay merchants or accounts with.

I like the Green Dot Card, my check is available early, haven't had any problems with the card. What I do not like is that I have to pay $3 to put money on my card and also pay another $3 to take money off my card. I can kind of understand the $3 to take money off but $3 to put money on my card I do not.

Disappointed that it's only a debit and am unable to transfer money to my landlord. Also that there is only one ATM that I can go to, otherwise I just get cash at the store. At the gas pump am not able to use it without going inside to some places. And finally, it's not a chip card.

I love the Green Dot Card. The only thing I don't like is how much the card fee is for withdrawing from an atm. Besides that I love it. I really love getting my check two days sooner. Sometimes it's only one. I use it to pay most my bills. I love that I can just stash and unstash money whenever I want.

I love my Green Dot Card, I am supposed to get paid on Fridays, but my money shows up on Tuesday. Sweet! :) It is like everyday is payday. It really came in handy this past week when I had a bill due. Because I got my pay check early I was able to pay my bill on time.

I use this card everywhere. I use in person and online purchases. I use it to pay bills and to purchase fun stuff. I set up my direct deposit to this card to make my life so much easier. Walmart makes it way to cash a check and add to my card and they even offer discounts on gas.

The website indicated ATMs that were closest to me that were fee free. I used the one closest and was charged a fee, not from the bank but from Green Dot. Otherwise I have appreciated receiving my direct deposit early and the ease of use.

I love my Green Dot money card. It helps me save and it actually makes me happy to save. I love the option to get 1000 into your account and it'll waive the 5 dollar maintenance fee. It feels like a fun challenge and it saves me 5 dollars. When I put money in the stash it tells me an estimated amount of what I save daily. It's just a very reliable card to have.

I was given Green Dot card as a birthday gift. It had $200. I spent I think around $30. Now, the card is declined whenever I tried to use it. I cannot get anyone to explain to me why. I cannot log into the greendot.com account to find out why. I spent more than 2 hours trying to get someone to talk to me.

I set up my Visa prepaid card through Green Dot and activated it. Then put 225.00 on reload. Tried to put it on my card. It won't let me. I called them 4 times. They did not help me. Now I am out 230.00.

I have never needed to use a prepaid card until this evening and the one time I do buy one this happened... I purchase the card after much hassle in finding a prepaid card and go to register it. The site is faulty and keeps making the numbers on the card go in the wrong place while you are typing. After a couple attempts it then tells me that I am locked out for 24 hours and when I ask for a refund from the CVS I bought it from they tell me there is nothing that they can do and to call the number. I call the number and I was not able to access a live person. In fact the phone kept hanging up on me. I am so livid right now as I only bought this card as an emergency backup to my bank card which I don't have at the moment. So now I am stuck with a piece of plastic not worth anything for the next 24 hours. I am so disappointed in this company and their lack of customer service.

I received my Green Dot card through the mail after applying online. It clearly states the monthly fee for using the card is 5.95. When I went to reload my card I had a transaction for 9.95 monthly fee. I called right away, talked with someone from a call center. He could not give me any clear answers as to why I'm being charged 9.95. I also asked if there's another type of card that's the 5.95 monthly charge. NO there isn't one!!! I then asked to speak with a superior who tried to confuse me of the situation... Bad business practice to me!! As well as FALSE advertising!!! Why pay a 9.95 monthly fee, on top of that you're charged up to 4.95 at participating retailers to reload the card??? And if you have a loved one incarcerated you have to pay a fee to send the money there!!!

I had started to purchase a week of internet when something messed up and the site went down. It wasn't until a couple days later I realized I still got charged even though I never received what I paid for. Upon contacting the internet company I was told they had no record of that transaction but one of the month before. They said there was nothing they could do and suggested I call my bank. I call Green Dot and they do a dispute claim and say they are sending out a new card and it should be there in 3 days since I had the VIP service. A week later I call about my card that never showed up and was told it was still within the time frame. I had to tell them 4 different times that no it is double past the time frame since of my VIP they also didn't have my address correct after going over it more than enough times with the person, So they send me another card.
This one shows up and when I try to activate it I find there is a block on it. This is now 2 weeks without being able to access my account, can't buy groceries so I am literally starving. I call about the block and I was told I had to submit a picture of my ID. I couldn't. My next day off was in a week and I work while the library is open, my phone isn't very good so my pictures kept getting rejected. FINALLY I get a copy to go through after another 5 days, only to find out NOPE it wasn't good enough. I call and guess what. They can look at what you sent so there was no need to string me along. I am told they will have a decision today.
I call to find out what is going on and guess what, my claim was denied. For what. I don't know. I have to wait for the mail to find out. 20 days after first putting in my claim and nothing, the "customer service" agent tells me I need to take it up with the internet provider, to which I reply they have no record of it. Not a single bit of help are they and by the end I told them to cancel my service. Never have I been more frustrated dealing with "customer support" than I have with Green Dot. I will never use this service again, Walmart money card has hands down better service. Good riddance Green Dot.

Two years ago, I purchased a card for my minor child to use on a trip. Tried to do the same and now they will no longer issue a card with my child's name. Customer service is a joke. "There is no one else you can speak to" I was told. When they finally agreed that I could speak with a supervisor, I was placed on hold multiple times. Yes, they try to get you to give up so that you do not tell the survey afterwards how disappointing their lack of customer service is.
Do not waste your time with these people. I wanted a prepaid card that was not attached to his bank account so that if it was lost, he would only be out a little money not his whole bank account. Can not recommend Green Dot since they won't even work with you to resolve the issues. I was willing to be the primary cardholder if they would issue a reloadable card in his name also. Got told it would take two weeks for me to receive a refund of my money. It didn't take them that long to take my cash (can't use a check or credit card to purchase these cards). Never doing business with Green Dot again!

After a many year productive relationship, this company turned on me. They are now ruining my life. I reported unauthorized ATM withdrawals. They continued to keep my direct payroll deposit and have essentially stolen it. No replacement cards have ever arrived. They have closed my account. They "say" they are returning my $1200 by check, BUT it will take two weeks. They have denied helping me with my nearly $500 stolen from me by the unauthorized ATM transactions. They have kept NO promises so far.
They are criminals and I have already filed a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's consumer fraud division. I am dependent on 8 prescription medicines and this evil company is preventing me from accessing them or buying fuel to get to work. If you have a Green Dot card, empty it now and walk away, before you become the next victim. If you're considering one, RUN AWAY, FAST! Don't do it. All positive reviews here fall into two categories - shills or people who have not yet been victimized. They turned on me after about 7-8 years and several $100,000s of deposits. The worst customer service EVER! They are CRIMINALS!

Every month I go through the same thing. I read your early deposit guidelines. I understand you post the deposit when you receive instructions from provider. Well the Dept. Of Treasury sends out instructions every month on the same day. Any there's always a 48hr wait until you guys release which is all fine. But every month when I ask about why my deposit is not showing I'm told you haven't received it yet. Why say you'll release funds when you receive instructions if you're not going to honor that? I'm sorry but the Dept of Treasury is not making up the date they send out instructions. It's been the same date for years. So why is it a fight to get my deposit? Here it is 4 days after they sent out instructions and nothing still.

I set up my income tax refund to be direct deposited to what I thought was a legitimate bank account with Green Dot. It was sent by IRS on 6/21. When it had not shown up by noon 6/22 I got concerned and contacted Green Dot. They said, "Check with IRS," so I double checked everything with 3 different sections and they verified that a direct deposit had been sent on 6/21 and even gave me a trace #. I called back to Green Dot "customer service" (Ha HA HA) and ended up having to request a supervisor because all I was being told was "We never got it".
So the supervisor gets on the line, opened a case (which btw I was informed would take 2 days) and they reassured me that everything I had recently (after I set up DD for refund) read online about Green Dot screwing up people's direct deposits (which may I add, DD is one of their most prominent points of advertisement), he assured me those problems had been fixed, and if my refund had been rejected he would see it, so calm down keep checking. Woke up to still nothing on 6/23. Waited until noon, called Green Dot, DIRECT DEPOSIT WAS REJECTED ON 6/21... Are you kidding me? Why was it rejected? A DISCREPANCY. What discrepancy? I DONT KNOW. I double checked all numbers, the name wasn't misspelled, EVERYTHING WAS RIGHT. This "company" Green Dot that calls itself a bank is a joke. Terrible customer service, READ REVIEWS... STAY AWAY.

I purchased a card to pay a bill, put money on the card. By the time I paid the bill it got denied because of balance. I think that ** was really shady to charge a card that hadn't even been purchased but 1 day. I will spend the word not to purchase a Green Dot card. That's why it won't let me see the account online after registering the card. Keep saying invalid username/password. Tried to reset everything and keep saying, "You are not registered." Kept trying to do it and it locked me out. Called CS and the damn lady said she don’t know why it's doing it, try again later. What kind of bull is this.

I moved and lost my wallet, I called the Green Dot number and changed my address and canceled my card and ordered a new one. Then I got an email stating unusual activity has been detected and Mastercard was blocked. I called customer service and it was a nightmare. The automated program said I had to send them a copy of my driver's license and a passport. And they would review them and after 2 to 3 business maybe I'd get my money. Hey Green Dot I lost my wallet. I have no ID!!!
It was nearly impossible to talk to a real human, and when I did, they were so damn rude. They kept talking over me while reading a script. And I know it was because they kept saying the same thing over and over. The first one lied and said she was the supervisor. Then after I insisted she finally connected me to a supervisor, and he read the same script. And yet still no resolution. I have bills and mouths to feed. I'm a veteran with a fixed income. With no other income. And they do not want to release my money. It's my money. Green Dot is screwing over this veteran. I'm broke and I need my money.

When I called to check the balance I was asked for my last 4 SS #. I entered it and was told it was invalid. All of the systems ask for this info. Can't get a hold of an actual person. Now I have a card that I can't use and no answers. And I just want my $160.00 back...

I am writing to you so our problem will be fixed. A Green Dot debit card was purchased from a Dollar General near our home. This card was used since February and added to each month for $300.00. The debit card was then used to order monthly supplies from Nutrisystem. I wasn't receiving my latest shipment so I called Nutrisystem to track the order. I was informed the order wouldn't be coming because 0 ZERO dollars showed on the card number I gave them. The card was purchased 6/12/2017 from Dollar General, Neligh, NE. Meanwhile, I am without Nutrisystem food, which is the only type of food allowed and wondering, NOW WHAT. Tried calling your number several times and could NOT get thru to a living, breathing human. Very, very upset because your company was recommended to me! What is going on, and reminder, I am hungry and very dissatisfied!

Lost the prepaid card with a direct deposit of $300 on the card. The automated system says my date of birth is incorrect. Of course I don't have the card number to enter, can't reach a live person and no one emails back from online customer services. So basically they have my paycheck and I can't talk to anyone about it. Seems like a scam if you ask me but I'm contacting the BBB.

I have used Green Dot for almost a year now and I recently just had my first mishap where I sent my direct deposit to the wrong account. True it was my fault but I have went through all the proper channels to correct it. It has been like pulling teeth to get this resolved. Every time I call I get the run around and get told a bunch of lies just to get off the phone. They see the mistake, they see the money but yet is having difficult putting the funds back on my account. They claim it's under investigation. I don't understand.
I have four children to feed and worked very hard for that money. I'm supposed to be on vacation at the beach but they have made that impossible. They continue to tell me to wait by my phone for a call and continue to check my account just to continue seeing a negative balance. I am beyond pissed. I wouldn't recommend this card to anyone. Total scam. You can't understand none of the reps. They won't let you speak to a higher authority. I am devastated behind this almost 1400 that me and my children didn't get to enjoy. This has really set me back big time. I hope they are happy.

I have had my Green Dot card for years now. BUT...over the past couple of months, my account has been compromised. Somebody in GA and D.C. have gotten ahold of my debit card number and made charges, which has caused me to have no money on two separate occasions. They sent me a replacement card and it happened again. They did an investigation the first time and it took 3 weeks for me to get my money back AFTER they concluded the investigation. Every time I called, they said they had to send a "follow up" email to the investigation department. Made no sense to me. Now this time, I have to wait until the charges post before I can start a claim. SMH. I know this is long, but I want you guys to know the stress I'm going through with them. I will be canceling my account as soon as I get my money back from these past fraudulent charges. Poor customer service!!! And how is this happening?!?!

I purchased a prepaid Green Dot card last night. When trying to register the card I got a message that it was invalid. Tried to do it through the automated system with same message. Returned to store today and was told it's out of their hands and up to Green Dot now. Called the automated line and there is no way to get through to a person. Luckily had an old card and pressed buttons that card was stolen with new address. Lady on the other end of the phone barely spoke English. Put me on hold after giving her the card number. Was told she would transfer me to automated system to register the card after explaining several times I had tried that and it didn't work. Still didn't work after transfer. Now I guess I'm out the money. Will never use this service again! I buy these cards every time I make an online purchase but never again!

I found it to be frustrating when trying to solve an issue because I cannot fully understand all the foreign accents and also feel as if they read off of a paper when answering questions instead of actually listening to the issue and responding to each specific issue. I had called in about a posted payment and a pending payment from the same vendor. So it looked as if the same vendor was trying to charge me twice. So I called in to disputed the charge. I had originally called the vendor to ask what it was about and they said that they only showed they had charged me once but my account was reflecting a posted amount and a pending so she told me to call my bank and tell them to cancel it.
So I called Green Dot and the young lady could not understand my issue at first and then she told me that my money would be refunded in two days. So I looked on my account later that day and the pending amount had disappeared but on Thursday the amount never showed up. So I waited til Monday thinking, "Oh it might take longer. I will wait." On Monday I checked my balance. Still no reflection of the charge. I called back and talked to a girl and told her what happened and very quickly she responded, "Oh it will be reflected today. If it is not posted to your account by the end of today then you can call us tomorrow and we will fix it."
It did not post so called back the next day on Tuesday. I told the representative what happened and she put me on hold two time for a few minutes each. Then she started telling me she does not know what happened and she has to put me on hold again. I asked her why do people keep telling me it will post and then it doesn't post... She said she didn't know so I said, "I want to talk to your manager." So the manager gets on the phone and I tell her on June 5 I called in because my account reflected I had a payment posted and one pending and there should only be one payment this month. So she said no there is only one payment and I tried to tell her when I checked my account there had showed a payment and a pending payment from the same person and when I called last Monday after that call the pending payment was taken off.
Then she insists that I never had the pending payment and the posted payment. It only showed the posted one. I told her why would I call about one payment? I'm calling because I saw two; one posted, one pending, and last week two different agents told me I would be receiving a refund and to call back if I did not see it reflected on my account. So now on my third time calling back a week later the supervisor tells me that it only post once and that I will not be getting a refund.
I don't understand why no one could not have told me that a week ago. I do not feel like they were incapable of fully understanding and communicating due to language barrier. The supervisor made me feel like I was trying to scam this company for my $45.00... Ha. And I feel like if I had not requested to talk to the supervisor they would have continued to have me calling back about the issue for months without trying to resolve it. It seems anything above simple would be too difficult for customer service to comprehend and fix.

My wife and I have been customers of Green Dot for nearly 8 years. My payroll check have been getting deposited every two weeks via direct deposit for years with absolutely NO problem. Once a month I receive a commission check that is not direct deposited and every month when I attempt to take a photo to deposit it (following the directions perfectly), it ALWAYS gets declined. Now I've attempted to call Green Dot customer support numerous times for help and I've either gotten hung up on or told that there's nothing they can do to help me because their system is working properly. I will say that we were planning on cancelling our account and opening an account with a different bank so the photo deposit issue would be resolve, but somehow they talked my wife into not leaving.
The funny part is, they recommended that we change our account to their V.I.P. plan which is $5.95 per month and that should help resolve the issues we were having with the photo deposit. Now this is funny because we've been on their V.I.P. program for almost 8 years which now I'm actually wondering where that $5.95 has been going to every month if that representative didn't see we were V.I.P. customers already. But that's a different complaint for another time, I'm more upset that the photo deposit issue is still not allowing me to deposit my checks and there's no one at Green Dot that can give me an answer. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Complying with every request from "transaction-dispute form" through "Verify My docs @greendot.com" My docs being my driver's ID and the back of the visa card.

First of all, everything about Green Dot is awful. The customer service is non-existent (they don't know what they're doing anyways), the app is **, and the website is also **. Apparently nothing works. I tried to use the app to deposit a check from my phone. Instead of depositing the money, it denied the check and also put a hold on them so that I can't cash them anywhere else! And the only thing "Customer Service" can suggest is to wait another day and the hold will be released and I'll be able to cash the check the following day. I might believe that, if it weren't the second time they were telling me this. I just want them to delete any information regarding the checks so that I can cash MY money somewhere else. Go ahead and delete my account as well. There is nothing you can do to improve this business.

I have been using Green Dot for years, without too many issues. However, recently it's been a different story. Recently I lost my wallet. It was returned but the several hundred dollars I had was not. So I put all my saved money on a card. Card number was stolen and used several times. I cancelled the card, and reordered. In the meantime I was staying with my daughter in law and her parents, as I just moved back in state. Her mother being a bit bitter and senile, went to the post office and put a stop on all my mail. So I had to reorder the card to a new address. Green Dot blocked my account for suspicious activity.
Now I have tried and tried to reach a human being, with no such luck. We're talking about 50 calls or more. I've even visited several Walmarts out of desperation. They reply, "You need to call the number on the back of the card". That number is completely automated and you CAN NOT reach a live person. Now it's 3 weeks later, I'm living in my car with my dog, no food, gas, my phone is shut off, insurance is about to lapse.
I finally got a hold of someone at Green Dot using Facebook. This only led to more frustration as they told me I would have to send a pic of my ID to activate my account, after I receive a new card. I could do that... except they will not accept the temporary ID I just received from the DMV. It has to be the final hard copy. Our DMV has very strict address proof rules and my hard copy was sent back when my card was sent back. So it's gonna be a while before I can get a hard copy. Do you think I could get these people to work with me? No way! In fact, the card they sent out about 2 weeks ago like the time before has not shown up!
This is card 3 or 4. Only the 1st one my fault! I'm without EVERYTHING and I can't get any help from them whatsoever. Every other company would allow me access to my money, by allowing me to purchase another card and putting the funds on that card. Not Green Dot. They won't even allow me to use my temporary state issued ID along with my voided ID. That should be enough to positively verify. Both have picture and matching info other than address. The fact that this company attracts customers by providing a service to people that may not have the perfect situation when traditional banking would be ideal, then keeping one's money and leaving them completely without what belongs to them because that person doesn't have the ideal situation is absolutely disgusting in my opinion.
I have and will boycott Green Dot services and I'm currently consulting an attorney. Never have I been treated so poorly by a company. They do not have any concern for circumstances other than the typical mold. They lack professionalism, basic care along with human compassion. Diversity and flexibility are not skills they portray in their customer service. Worst experience I've had in my 47 years from any business or corporation. I'm completely fed up and disgusted!

I'm tired of Green Dot. They literally do not help you in anyway. I had ATM fraud May 22, someone pulled 405 dollars out the ATM. They said they will look into to come to find out today my dispute was denied. I'm really aggravated. I'm pretty sure they did nothing about it, probably didn't bother checking cameras where the ATM is located. This is bull and I will have my lawyer contact this fraud company.

I bought a My Rewards prepaid card about 10 min ago and as soon as I got in my car I got online to register my card. I always do this with prepaid cards before I leave to make sure money was correctly loaded on card. Well I got on Greendot.com and put my information of the card as it asked and then after I was done it said "Too many attempts, try back in 24 hours" so I called the customer service number and of course I cannot get through to anyone. This company is trash. I feel like they just robbed me of my last. I will make sure and post about this everywhere I get a chance.

Card information was stolen and was used to make fraudulent transactions in excess of $600! My husband has his disability check deposited onto the Green Dot card and that is almost half of his monthly income GONE with 0 support from Green Dot. The dispute process was immediately and properly followed and here we are in Day #40 with no resolution! Terrible customer service - takes seconds for someone to steal money and FOREVER to get any assistance or resolution. Taking my complaint to the BBB.

My daughter turned 18 in March and is going to Puerto Rico for a graduation gift. I sent off for a Green Dot Prepaid Visa for her to use while on her trip. When we received it I tried several times to register and activate the new card. The recording kept saying "The information couldn't be verified." I tried calling to speak to a physical person... IMPOSSIBLE! I tried emailing and online customer service just so I can see what we can do to verify whatever information was needed... NO HELP AT ALL! She is leaving June 12th and I still have no card to send her with. I could purchase another company's prepaid card but I specifically sent for this one in the mail because I felt secure in the fact that this one came with her name on it. I'm at my wits end!!! What kind of card service doesn't provide a real person you could talk to for assistance???

I had some charges pop up on my account that were not made by me or my husband, so I reported them immediately. I filled out every piece of Green Dot's paperwork, waited and they told me there was nothing else for me to do but wait 10days... I waited the 10 days and they denied it so I called back and they told me they needed the police report and a signed statement from the merchant about the videotape we watched... They still haven't refunded me my money. Nobody has contacted me nothing... Now I've had this card for years and never had any issues until now! I have children. This has affected financially and I know they're job is to investigate way fuller than they have. I shouldn't be investigating my own claim for them.
This card is by far the worst company when it comes to customer service and making sure your customers are being treated the right way... So I do not wish anyone to have this card if they're going to make you investigate your own transactions instead of doing it themselves and have the honor of making things worse for families... This will be my 2nd time submitting my dispute. If I have to keep submitting the claim I will or I will sue the company itself for negligence and fraud, I do not play games. I have children and the laziness of this company affects my children... DO NOT GET THIS CARD IF YOU WANT YOUR MONEY SAFE AT ALL TIMES!!

First off it was near impossible to reach a customer service agent in the fraud department. They had me fill out the fax form and write up exactly what happened to make me believe that fraud was committed. I followed all instructions to a tee. I faxed and emailed my report in to the fraud team after carefully adding in all the facts and submitting all the facts. Literally within 1 hour they claimed that my case was closed and that zero fraud of $340.00's was committed. I asked for proof of what they had done to come to their determination. I was told to go ** myself. I resubmitted my case 3 times in hopes to get a decent human being to actually do their job. They treated me with complete disrespect and still to this day an investigation was not completed.
I have now hired a lawyer and will be taking Greendot to court. I can see that Greendot owners are toxic and are plain out bullies. They breed their management team to train the lower employees to be dishonest and rude. Here is my complaint. I hope that Green Dot see's this. Yes, I realize this was nearly 2 years ago, but I am now in a place where I can now stand up to companies like this. I came across this site in hopes that word gets out that if fraud ever does occur to you via Greendot that they do not stand by their promise of backing you up and that you are not liable for any fraudulent charges to your Green Dot card. I understand this is an old case, but it's the principle of the matter.

I purchased a $500 Green Dot reload card to load funds on to a prepaid card I have. I attempted to load the funds yesterday but it keeps saying my identity needs to be verified. I have no problem with that if I was a first time customer but my name and card information are already in their systems. My license was scanned at the time of purchase. I needed this money to pay rent and now I have to wait an unspecified amount of time and hope I'm getting my money back.
The 1-800 number they have is a joke and can't get in touch with an actual representative, so I'm left with no money now and rent hasn't been paid and a company that is holding my $500 with no way to get in touch with them. I am amazed how many negative reviews are out on the internet about this company yet no one in the higher power is doing anything about it. As far as I'm concerned it's a form of wire fraud. Which to me is a criminal offense. I need help getting the funds that are rightfully mine so I can pay bills the way I intended to do when I purchased this reload card. Please help me!!

I was scammed by someone who had a really good story. Yes I fell for it. I take responsibility for this. But when I tried to contact Moneypak to make a report, I realized their one and only published number (800) 473-3636 is not active. Research shows that it may have been shut down back in 2015 (this review is being written in June of 2017)... perhaps because they were being overwhelmed with scam reports, so they disabled the number... but still continue to sell this card. So after no luck contacting Moneypak, I tried to call Green Dot. The automated system will NOT allow you to proceed to a human unless you give them a valid 16 digit Green dot credit card number (which I do not have). I'm only trying to get assistance with the prepaid debit card.
The scammer must have an account to retrieve the funds, right? If they are obviously stealing from people, probably for a living, the victim should be able to report it and have the funds reversed by Moneypak, and the scammer at the very least shut down, and even better, caught. In my case, I didn't even fully expect a refund, but would at least think that being able to voice the issue should be an easy, doable process. But, Moneypak does not give any means of contact. No phone, email, nothing. Scammers know this and Moneypak is contributing to the problem; if not in on it. If Moneypak group or any representative is reading this review, I would appreciate being given the chance to report this problem.

They have a block on both of my cards. I cannot access 2500 of my own money. I've called them, provided my ID which is nonsense. You can verify my identity by asking me simple questions. I have never been as angry and utterly disgusted as I am with these thieves. Give me my money back. It's not yours.

I bought the Green Dot Reloadable Card around an hour again. I waited 30 mins. before attempting to activate it. The money was loaded at the store where I purchased the card. The Green Dot activation website and phone keep telling me that the card is invalid. I am now locked out of activation for 24 hours and cannot for the life of me get in touch with a customer service rep. The phone number I call keeps asking for the card number then says it's invalid and hangs up. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE A GREEN DOT CARD!

I live in the state of Florida and someone used my card at CVS in the State of California and took my last $153. I called Green Dot which they could clearly see that I had just used my card in Florida but the agent tells me that they can't doing anything about it because it's a pending charge. I ask shouldn't that have been a red flag cause I darn sure can't be in two states at one time, thousand of miles away. The Agent told me, "Yes it should have been but it wasn't so you have to wait until the 15th." I am a single mother working from paycheck to paycheck and that was all the money I had to feed my kids until I get paid again so I am stuck trying to find a way to get food for next week for my kids. I WILL NEVER USED THIS ** CARD AGAIN. RIP OFF.

I booked an airline ticket using my Green Dot prepaid card. I had to cancel my trip the same day and was told by United that they didn't accept the charge so it's suppose to just fall off. I was suppose to see it. Credited by into my account in 2 days. Now Green Dot is saying I have to wait two weeks because Green Dot likes to hold my money and use it for whatever. Imagine how much money Green Dot has in holding with this delayed refund policy.

A credit card company had withdrawn a large sum of money from my account but it was not an authorized debit. I called the credit card company and they apologized and then sent a letter of indemnity to Green Dot. The letter of indemnity was approved and I was supposed to receive those funds that were taken out a few days later according to a few members of corporate Green Dot. Surprise, surprise, three weeks later I have nothing. All they keep saying is that they are investigating and will contact me but never once did they call me back. PLEASE RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.

I was expecting you direct deposit for my school. It was released on the 30th of May. I had called about five times as the deposit was not posting and always seem to speak to the same person that number is 866-795-7597. I was basically told I could not speak to no one else. She was the only one in the office and all around very inconsiderate and rude. But I got off the phone with her. I had my wife confirmed, verify the account information through our financial institution that the loan was coming from. Come to find out we have one digit missing. I mainly called back and try to contact that number again to advise them what the next step I need to take if my kids are hungry and we have nothing at all to eat. Well I can't get a hold of no one. No individual whatsoever. It basically says you have contacted our number numerous times and just gives me recordings.
I called every number. I could call the corporate number. No one is there. My kids are walking up to me saying, "Daddy" and "Hungry Daddy. I'm hungry" and all I can do is cry. I called a number and spoke to a different division and all they can tell me what. That's the only number I can call as I poured my heart out trying to explain my situation. "Could you just please have someone give me a call" and they refused. How could a company that deals with so many cars have their cars and so many of our corporations here in America only have one person sitting in the office answering our calls. I'm just missing in simple digit and I know my money is there. Would someone please give me a call. I don't know if you ever had it your kids with tears in your eyes standing in front of you saying they're hungry. That is the most awful feeling I've ever experienced.

My business was the target of a scam using MoneyPak. While MoneyPak itself wasn't involved their complete and total lack of anything resembling customer service is absolutely ridiculous. I can't even contact the company because I do not have a card through them. It is utterly ridiculous, now I am having to go through filing a police report with literally no information from the MoneyPak.

This is ridiculous. I'm not using this service anymore. They took $166 dollars out of my account and are trying to tell me it was overdraft. Anyone who has used a prepaid card service knows there is no way to overdraft on this card. You can only use what's available. I had $188 in the night and woke up to $16 in the morning and after calling customer service they had no explanation. Only wanted me to dispute a transaction. So all in all my money is gone without a trace with no explanation as to why. NEVER USE THIS PREPAID CARD. I used this for over 3 years and this is what they just did. How do you get away with stealing a person's money. The transactions don't even add up to explain where my money went!!

DO NOT GET THIS CARD!!! I REPEAT, DO NOT. Just get a real bank, no customer service, and cannot understand half of what they are saying when you do finally talk to someone. I had 160 stolen off my card, in two cities very far away from me. This happened on the 15th. I called and filed a dispute that day. I called to check a week later and was told that I had to send a police report, so I did that and then was sent a denial for the dispute.
Wondering how the ** something so obvious could be denied. I had to call them once again to find out what was going on. Was told it was mistake made by them and the original dispute was still under investigation, THE ONE FROM THE 15TH!!! And it will be even more time until the dispute is out of investigation. While my co-worker had the same problem it was resolved in a matter of HOURS, NOT DAYS. HOURS!!! He didn't have to send ** in or call a million times and got his money back fast as hell.

I have purchased Green Dot cards in the past without that bad of an experience. Despite the large fees they did what I needed them to. Six months ago I purchased another one for whatever reason I can't remember, it was the cash back card. I really only needed it as a one time use so when the permanent personalized card came in the mail I didn't pay any attention to it. It got shoved in a drawer. 6 months later after losing my main credit card I needed a card for a hotel stay. Found the Green Dot card and went to Wal-Mart to add funds. I loaded over $100 successfully but when I tried using it at the hotel it was declined. I tried using it a couple other places as well just to see if it would work and it wouldn't.
I spent hours online and on the phone trying to access my account which I can't and trying to speak to someone on the phone which I couldn't do either. 2 days later I still haven't been able to speak to anyone, get anything resolved and because of this whole ordeal not only was I unable to stay at the hotel and we had to sleep in our car, but the hotel is charging me an $89 cancellation fee. I have tried everything to get hold of a real person without any success and so I can only hope that someone from Green Dot reads this and contacts me asap. I need my money.

Card was not properly activated in store. The store, Walmart, wouldn't give refund. Had to contact Bank customer service. Very difficult to contact. Twice I could hardly understand the person on the line. Card purchased in April for grandson's field trip in May. Finally did receive a refund today, 7-3-17. Will not purchase another of these. Too much of a hassle if something goes wrong.

This card is issued by Green Dot Bank. Could not get through on customer service line to speak to a human. Automation told me I had an invalid card and would not register or give a balance. Took the card and receipt for the card back to Walmart. They were able to connect me to a human at the customer service. But I left the store today without a refund and I am still waiting on a response from Green Dot as to what can be done as far as a refund. Do not purchase one of these. If something goes wormhole, you may just be out your money.

It has been a nightmare trying to contact Green Dot customer service. I was unable to register a brand new prepaid Visa debit card because the website says it is invalid. But I cannot speak with anyone at Green Dot customer service unless I have a valid card. Isn't that ironic! I would rather die of a thousand cuts than to be dealing with this again.

After noticing that my account had been compromised I contacted Green Dot to have my card cancelled and to see what needed to be done to have my funds returned. They informed me to fill out a dispute form and wait until the review was complete. I called their number only to find out that my dispute had been denied. There has been an increase in my home area of accounts being used without customer's consent so I thought this would be an easy resolution. Boy was I wrong. I am pretty sure that I am not the only one that has encountered this issue but if you do what is requested of you and they still do not assist you why should the customer be willing to continue with using their services.

I had obtained this Walmart MoneyCard for internet purchases despite Green Dot's history of being hacked and their customers' accounts drained. I never kept significant amounts of money on the card so I figured my risk was limited. Things worked well for a while, and then I contacted them yesterday for some information on direct deposit. Oops. Apparently, their customer service is almost entirely in the Philippines. It seems my Chicago accent doesn't carry well over an international phone call nor was the operator's accent clear to me. After many frustrating minutes, I resolved to cancel the card and open a new one with a United States company.
At the time of the call I had been recently charged a monthly fee and had a negative balance of $4.07. I asked how I might pay that balance without incurring an additional charge of $5.00 to deposit the money. The rep indicated that I needn't worry about the minor negative balance, and that he would take care of it then close the card. Sounds great, right? Nope. The representative on the other side of the world, who had no last name, no phone number/extension, and who worked for what was probably a third (or fourth?) party vendor he would not name, didn't do that. He simply closed the account with the negative balance, and Green Dot is now claiming it is "impossible" to rectify their own error.
I say "now claiming," but that really diminishes the maze Green Dot and their foreign third party vendors put me through to finally get to that undoubtedly false claim (the only reason they would be unable to fix their own errors is if they deliberately designed their system that way - which is highly doubtful yet even more indicting if true). Multiple phone calls with repeated transfers through multiple supervisors were required to finally reach Green Dot in the United States. I finally spoke with a man who claimed to have high level supervisory authority, yet somehow was also prohibited from giving his full name.
He not only claimed it was impossible for Green Dot to correct its own error, but that I had nothing to worry about regarding the negative balance. I had requested this be put it in writing in a short email, but, just as had their third party vendors in the Philippines, Green Dot claimed that the bank did not have the means to send an email - in 2017. They asked I simply accept their assurances despite the fact that they refused a simple request for email confirmation or to even give a last name - including for a supposed high level supervisor.
I did ask for a phone number and extension for confirmation, and, to my great surprise by that point, the Green Dot supervisor agreed and provided me with his number and extension. I thanked him and hung up. Then I thought about it, and called the number. No surprise here. The number and extension was not his. It was picked up by someone else, who again claimed high level supervisory authority yet, of course, still had no last name. The person I had spoken to previously, and who had given me assurances, was simply not reachable at that number. The new person then offered to begin the entire process all over again.
Well, there's only so much effort that anyone is willing to put into a problem (a fact Green Dot takes advantage of quite well), and I was certainly at the end of my patience - especially since this was all about my paying them - so I'm done dealing with them. This how they treat someone who wanted to pay them money. I can only imagine how they treat someone who has lost money due to their mishandling.

I feel their failure to explicitly indicate that you won't be able to access your money immediately is done on purpose. Plus, their "Customer Service" number does not link to an actual person. I purchased this Prepaid Visa in order to sign up to a club membership instead of paying cash. The package said nothing about taking 2 WEEKS to register! My plan was to use it the same day. But THEY don't want that, why? Because the next day they want to be able to charge you $10 for no reason, so they say registration is "delayed" and can't use your card, and when I tried getting a refund, no human answers. I tried calling their "corporate" lines, and it just cycles me back to the beginning of the phone menu. This company is trash, operates as trash, and then pretends to care. Chances are I'll get a reply saying, "We tried to contact you", but they didn't. If I don't update this post, they really didn't "try to contact" me.

I purchased a Prepaid Visa Debit card last month and put $20 on it because I knew it would last a while. That day I spent $5 and about a week ago another $5 which would leave me with a $10 balance. Last night I go to spend another $5 And the card gets declined. I called to find out what my balance was and somehow it was negative. I then listen to the transactions and find out that I was charged a $7.95 monthly fee within 24 hours of buying the card and another $7.95 a month later. I have used Green Dot cards before and I was NEVER charged this fee in the past. When I did research on it, there is a few ways to get the fees waived based on purchases or deposits. Well how can it be waived when I'm getting charged BEFORE I even have the chance to use it. Complete rip off.

I had a Green Dot card I cancelled in November/December 2016. Prior to that I was paying on my resort biweekly taken off my Green Dot card. They were aware I was going to be using a new card and had cancelled my Green Dot. I decided to cancel the resort we were going to be staying at and I'm owed money from the resort. They said they have to refund to Green Dot even though all my being very direct and yes, stern as I think the lady had wax in her ears, they also said they can't issue a check refund. This is a very well known resort and I'm working with a specialist... I sent several emails telling her not to try to refund my old cancelled card and I will be bs if she tries, seeing that card number does not exist any longer.
I told her I have tried for days now to speak to someone but nada cause I don't have my old card. It doesn't work with my SSN and DOB. I'm not happy with Green Dot. They give no options for people like me, if a problem arises to speak with a human into! Days now I've tried all day long, I've emailed and I don't have time to write a letter and wait a decade for a response when I should have a number to speak directly with someone... so I'm hoping they look on this site and see this review and call me to solve it and give me a direct line to speak to someone if we are disconnected. So let's see what Green Dot's gonna do cause I do know my rights, unlike others that write on here... to think I was gonna open a new Green Dot, lmao. We will see. Here's my number. Call it ** asap.

On April 20th 2017 I went to an ATM inside of a gas station to withdraw $160. In the process of the ATM dispensing my money it began to update and shut off. I got the help of the attendant to assist me. He restarted the ATM and it had an error message and no receipt printed out. He called his boss who said someone would be out there the next day to fix it. So, I left my name and number and went home to call Green Dot. I waited on hold for 47 minutes! The next morning I called at 9 am and I was on hold for 35 mins.
By the time I got to speak to an actual person, it was the next week and the $160 went from pending to posted. Upon explaining my situation to the representative, she informed me that I would have to do a dispute and it could take 6 weeks. But in the meantime, I don't get a reimbursement of my $160 understandable. I filled out all the forms, sent in pictures of the receipt and everything and was told that my case would be finish by May 9th. On may 9th I called to see what was happening and they said that they were still waiting on my dispute forms... That were sent in on April 27th. I gave them my email so they could check and see if I sent it and guess what? The papers were there!
The customer service agent then tells me that I have to wait till June 1st because disputes take up to 45 days. The kicker is that I spoke with the owner of the gas station and he said that once he gets an email from Green Dot inquiring about the incident he will inform them that, in fact, did not receive my money and he does not dispute my claim. Oh and I did ask to speak to a supervisor because of the poor attitude of the rep I spoke with. I was allegedly supposed to receive a call back on May 9th... Still waiting. I would NEVER EVER recommend any person, place, or thing, to do business with GREEN DOT.

Green Dot money card is a joke. I loaded a MoneyPak with $500. I go online to try to load my debit card and it is not letting me. I call the customer service number and they tell me because I have done one load of 40 and another of 500 and trying to load another 500 today will exceed my 1000 dollar reload in 30 days. I think that is the stupidest ish I have ever heard. Now they are telling me I have to wait until the 31st to load MY own ** money and I have bills due RIGHT now that wait until the 31st. I didn't even know that was a rule and if I would have known that I would have never added the funds to the MoneyPak. And the customer service is a joke too because they act like there is nothing they can do but I know they can. This is VERY inconvenient to me and unacceptable smh. After this I will NEVER use this card again.

On May 3, 2017 I filed a dispute with Walmart MoneyCard regarding several unauthorized cash withdraws on my account. I sent in my dispute letter along with my police report. Their dispute representative informed me the process would take 10 days. On the 10th day I called the dispute department and they informed me my dispute had been denied. They informed me my dispute was denied because I had possession of my card which I believe would help prove that I did not authorize these transactions.
Cash withdraws were made in California while I was in Colorado using my card daily to make purchases which shows I can't be in two places at once. The representative told me my dispute was closed and the only thing I could do is resubmit a dispute. I am currently undergoing a second dispute but if they really investigated my dispute they would have realized I did not make these transactions. I feel as if they stole $2553.00 from my account and are getting away with armed robbery. I need help!!! I also included a copy of my government stamped work time sheet to prove I was not in California making these withdraws!

Purchased the prepaid card about month or two ago. First time with Green Dot, apparently I must have put a digit wrong on the birth date part. Well... I can't sign up for the Green Dot app so I can access my transactions. When I call the number on back of the card and have to enter my social security number and birth date, it says it don't match info on file. Called customer service about it so I can fix it. I'm told unfortunately I can't be helped, but that they can provide me paper statements. Seriously?!?! Is this how business is being handled?! Disappointed that something so small & I can't resolve it. I don't want this card if I can't access my transactions & stuff, but have to pay monthly fees and all. No business from me anymore.

I am highly disgusted with this company and would never recommend them to anyone. My card was stolen and I had to travel to work borrowing money from others because you refuse to credit my account. I had a dispute May 4th and it has still not been resolved. The company policy states that if a dispute is not resolved within 10 business days then a temporary provisional credit would be issued. It's been 15 business days and they stated they needed more time and that they don't have the power to issue a credit. I am so upset because you are not sticking to your policy and federal regulations. I have spoken to a numerous amount of supervisors, have sat on the phone for hours and hours and haven't gotten any results. They even charged my account for a replacement card and never sent the card. This company is a bunch of thieves and I just want my money. Someone please help.

I have contacted Green Dot customer service in April 2017, requesting a refund. Customer rep by the name of Andre got my name and address and told me I would receive my refund and it's not mid-May 2017; still no refund check has been issued!! I tried calling again and it's just a machine asking for card number or SS number, which I think is wrong because there are other ways instead of giving private information. Green Dot has bad customer service and they have not given me the refund as promised. I have included my receipts to show proof that I bought a Green Dot gift card!

Have been waiting for my "personalized" card, and didn't receive it. Mobile app asked if I had received my "Personalized" card yet, so I indicated that I hadn't. A few days later, I was unable to use my card and when I called customer service they told me I had asked for a replacement card and my card had been deactivated. I was told I would have to wait a week to be able to access my money, and when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told there wasn't one to talk to. So now I have no access to my money AT ALL, and am being told they cannot do anything about it. Essentially, they are holding my money hostage and their response is "We can't do anything about it." VERY BAD BUSINESS. I want my money now.

I purchased several cards from local Walmart store for a trip for my daughter. Activated cards while on trip. Only card could be used...This started in September 2016, I still have not gotten my refund check cards. I have called every 20 days and been given the run away from people in the Philippines (no customer service in the United States, although the company is based out of California). I have been out several thousands of dollars. Look at back of card or inquiry if it's a Green Dot card. Run. You will have nothing but headaches and lies if you require a refund.
UPDATED ON 05/30/2017: I FINALLY spoke with someone in customer service dept. I THINK. I was told the exact same line that I have been given since September 16, 2016, that, "Here's a reference # and someone will review your case." I can't believe I have to provide this company their own information. I have called 13 times since 09/16/16. I feel that the record keeping is VERY POOR. Visa Debit card # should be attached to the checks issued. They will close your case without resolving their issues. My advice is DO NOT PURCHASE A VISA DEBIT IF GREEN DOT IS INVOLVE IN ANY WAY... BEWARE.

I received a $60 Green Dot prepaid visa gift card as a thank you for referrals I had made to a local business. I went online to 'register' the card but they want way too much personal information. There is no need to get my full name, address, DOB & SSN for a prepaid gift card. I tried to call but I couldn't get to a service agent without giving them all my information. Where is the convenience of using a prepaid visa gift card if I have to give information as if I am opening an account. I am not looking for their services, just the reward for referring friends to use a local business for their needs. My opinion, they are fishing for information so they can inundate me with mailings for their services which I clearly am in no need of. Hope they paid Steve Harvey a pretty penny for associating his name with this ridiculous company.

On April 17, 2017 I noticed that $1500 was wiped out of my account (that was basically all of my money!). I immediately called Green Dot to report this. They froze my account and issued me a new debit card. I also filed a claim that these were fraudulent charges. I was in Indiana at the time, and the two charges were made in Tennessee, at a US Post Office. Apparently my card was skimmed and a fake card was made with my bank info, and the thief went to the post office to make 2 money orders... one for $500, and the other for $1000. But because the thief was able to get my PIN # and used the PIN to make the purchase, Green Dot denied my claim. They said because a PIN was used that it was a valid transaction.
I told them there is no way I made those charges because I was in Indiana at the time. She let me file the claim again, on May 2 and this time I sent screenshots of my Google Map history showing that I was indeed in Indiana, and also gave the phone number of the hotel I stayed at. I told them to call the hotel to verify that I was staying there in Indianapolis at the time the charges were made.
Today is May 22, and I just received a letter stating that my claim was denied because it is a duplicate claim. I just got off the phone with the customer service rep. I was on the phone with her for almost an hour, and she could not help me at all. I asked if she could tell me how is the investigation done, if they called the USPS in Tennessee and the hotel in Indianapolis, but she had no info. I feel like the research team at Green Dot is not doing any investigating into my issue. She said it will take another 10 days to resolve this and for the research team to investigate. I told her it would only take minutes if they would just call the hotel!
I've attached pictures so everyone can see what I sent them. These are screenshots of my Google Maps history on the date the fraudulent charges happened. I was driving from Indianapolis to Saint Louis. The charges happened in some town called Milan in Tennessee. I have never even been to Milan. I left the hotel at 11:39 am in the morning, and hang out in the city for awhile before driving to Saint Louis. At 8:16 pm I stopped to eat at a McDonald's in Vandalia, Illinois. Like I said earlier, if only Green Dot would call the hotel to verify that I did stay there and checked out on April 17, they will see that there is no way I could have been in Tennessee at the time to make those fraudulent charges.
Also, I noticed a 50 cent charge on April 16, for an ATM Balance Inquiry Fee. That is how the thief knew I had a little over $1500 in it. I asked the customer service rep if she could see where the ATM was that the thief used, because ATMs have cameras on them, but she said she could not tell me. That is just horrible service. If any employee of Green Dot reads this, I would appreciate if someone could please help get my money back! There is no need for this dispute to take this long to resolve.
When I asked the customer service to send me the investigation report, so I could see what research they did, she said that will take 2 weeks. That is beyond ridiculous for this process to take weeks, when it could all be resolved in one day if they just called the hotel. The customer service rep made it seem like they will not call the hotel, and I told her "So they basically don't want to help their customer?" She just said I will have to wait, but I feel like they are still going to deny my claim.

My grandfather recently lost his wallet in Tennessee while attending my cousin's graduation. Whomever found the Green Dot card, ID, and social security card has drained his account when he had over $3000 on his card. They have been fighting with the people at Green Dot for information on transactions made yet Green Dot says they have to get an attorney in order to get their money back and figure out where these transactions were made.

Purchase a Walmart Green Dot card so I could have my paycheck direct deposited. Put 20 dollars on the temp card, when I went to register it the foreign CSR could not speak English, messed up the registration, and could not verify my identity. As a result I cannot use any Green Dot card because my identity cannot be verified, I can no longer get through to a live person to find out which credit reporting agency they use to verify a person's identity, I cannot recover my 20 dollars and it appears that identity theft is now happening. This is a total scam.

I bought a prepaid Walmart visa provided by Green Dot Corp. as I thought it was safer than using my bank account to make online purchases and pay bills. I activated the card a few days later and tried to pay a couple of bills. It was declined over and over again so I checked the balance and it was 80$. I found out that there was a transaction for $420 made in CA when I live in CO and it was made before I even activated the card. I filed a dispute over 3 weeks ago and still do not have my money and now have incurred over $125 in late fees. To top it off I can't get a hold of anyone to find out what is going on. It is all just automated systems that hang up on me. This is a complete disaster. I had to jump through numerous hoops to file the dispute and am still sitting with unpaid bills and no idea what to do.

Never received replacement card. When I call customer service on hold for hours. No access to my money and they lied just to get me to purchase another card. This is the worse experience I have ever had. I can't buy my medication because it's been 11 days and I still have no card with all my money on it, I can't pay bills or nothing. Horrible company. I would never refer this card to anyone.

On 1/17/2017 I called to dispute an unauthorized charge from eBay and they canceled my card even though that's not what I wanted. Waited for my new card that should of had $69.58 on it. Since then my son was in the hospital. Today I went online because if you don't have the last four numbers of the card you are not able to speak with someone and noticed that I had a balance of $9.00. They charged me for four months at $7.95 monthly fees and $14.95 for an Amazon charge? So I called and spoke with Owen the manager and explained that I haven't had a card because they never sent one so how can I get charged for monthly fees and without a card on a closed account? Why was Amazon able to put a charge on a closed account? He told me that he can only credit my account for one monthly charge and he would mail me a check for $21.00. This is illegal and I know I am not the only one that they are robbing.

I am so disappointed in this company! My elderly father who suffers from dementia was so excited to give my young son a prepaid Visa card - he envisioned my son getting to pick out something great and think of him. But now I have to tell him that he's thrown away his money! There's no WAY I'm registering a card that requires the use of a social security number to access our money. This is such a scam, and I will be contacting my Better Business Bureau. Nowhere on the packaging did it let my father know that a social security number would be required to register it. This is downright theft!

I had 4 unauthorized purchases on my card from California and they told me that I could not get them back even if I try to dispute it. This happened before when I had money stolen from me and then they sent me a new card but FORGOT to give me my damn money back.

I filed my tax with Turbo. My money was sent to GREEN DOT BANK but my account and routing did not match. My check was over 6000. The bank never rejected my check. I can't talk to anyone that cares. All bills due. I'm going through it bad because I was expecting my money. Now playing catch up eviction notice. It hurts because I don't know what to do to get it. My three kids are the ones that really makes it hurt. GREEN DOT closed my case. No one tried or even cared to call me back instead seems mad because I'm calling. 8000 is a huge amount to just lose but I am in process of trying to sue company. I feel there should be answer to this. I know I made a mistake but it should've been rejected and sent by mail... Not recommended for large amount at all.

I went to my bank (Citizen's Bank), with my Walmart MoneyCard by Green Dot for a cash advance. The teller ran the card but cancelled the transaction. The $1350.00 was removed from my card but I never received it. The dispute was denied supposedly after thorough investigation, however they never even spoke to anyone at Citizen's Bank. I am now on a second dispute for the same issue. I believe that they are trying to keep my money.

I bought one of these cards to make online purchases with. I did not suspect, however, that after depositing my money onto the card, Green Dot would do everything in their power to deny me the ability to use that money or get it back in any form. Basically, my login information has not been altered but is suddenly incorrect. Due to this, I cannot access my account.
I tried to reset my password through email but the temporary password that was emailed to me didn't actually work... They have since locked my account and my funds are inaccessible. I attempted to call customer service to sort this out but I was answered by a machine who asked very intrusive questions (If you deal with GreenDot, be prepared to give your Social Security # away multiple times on multiple web pages to multiple people for the same issue) and never got connected to a representative. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GREEN DOT! You will have to fight for your own money when you otherwise would not have to. Just pick a different prepaid card for the love of god.

My paycheck was direct deposited on a Green Dot card. I tried to activate the card and it says card number invalid. I cannot get a live operator without a valid card number. I've never had so much trouble getting a live operator with any other company.

My child went and purchased a Green Dot visa card in the amount of $35, which is money he earned himself today. He paid a fee at the time of purchase for the card. He purchased the card today with the intent of purchasing 2 video games. One for $5 and the other for $30. He thought he was buying a gift card, not a debit card. When he went to make his purchases with the visa card he discovered he did not have enough money to make his purchase due the 7.95 monthly service fee that Green Dot was charging him. I called Green Dot and explained to them that he had not had this card for more than a few hours and that he was not aware of this fee. The rep then told me that he is not allowed to have this type of card since he is a minor. She told me she was going to give him a refund and deactivate the card.
It wasn't until I asked at the very end of the conversation how much the refund is that I found out she was only going to give him a partial refund. He still needed to pay the 7.95 fee plus the fee he was charged when he purchased the card. This makes no sense since he is unable to use this card and she canceled it due to him being a minor. So if he cannot use it and should not have had it in the first place, why are they still charging him a monthly service fee. He only had the card for a few hours.
The rep (SAM) refused to help me. She also refused to let me speak to a supervisor. I then told her I would be recording the call from this point on and asked her to confirm that she heard me. She said "Yes". I asked her to confirm that what she told me was the truth about speaking to a supervisor, she then said, "If you do not stop recording me I will have to terminate the call." I said "Fine. I am no longer recording", and then she hung up on me. I spent over 40 minutes speaking with this person to have it end like this. I am disgusted.
My son was so proud of himself that he earned his own money, bought a gift card and was able to purchase his own video game without asking mom or dad for help. When he discovered what happened he brought it to my attention. He was so defeated! He felt stupid and disappointed in himself for not realizing that this is how this works. This is really not about the 7.95 fee, it's more about how this company handled this. They had the chance to make this right and decided that we were not important.
I can understand if an adult is stupid enough to purchase this card and pay these ridiculous fees for such a small transaction (I'm sure this has happened a lot. Pretty sure I could have easily made this same mistake). But, we are talking about a teenager who thought he was buying a gift card. He registered online putting in whatever information he needed to in order to buy his video game. IF you are going to tell him he cannot have this card, then you should refund him all of his money or at least the monthly service fee. Horrible company, horrible customer service! I am completely shocked that Visa would even associate with such companies. If action is not taken by Visa after my complaint, I will be canceling all of my Visa cards! I know that this does not hurt Visa, but I need to have some sort of self-respect!

I got an email last night saying that there was an unrecognized charge on my Walmart Money Card. I called the Walmart Money Card "Customer Service" line and was told my card would be deactivated after I spent all remaining money on the card, and that I would never be able to get a card from Green Dot again. Ever. As you can imagine, this stressed me out to a point that I almost had a panic attack. I then called The Walmart Money Card "Customer Service" line again 5 more times until I FINALLY got a human being. She transferred me to the department who could best service my needs, even though I told her that I had been on hold for 15 minutes. Unacceptable!!
When I finally got transferred to the individual who could ACTUALLY help me, this is where things got really interesting. I told about my situation: that I received an email from Walmart Money Card c/o Green Dot about a suspicious charge that needed to be validated, and that when I called in I was told that my card would be cancelled and that I would never be able to get another card with Green Dot again. I thought it was some kind of hack.
The representative informed me that it was not in fact a hack, but that Green Dot had decided to BLACKLIST ME FOR LIFE, because I "made purchases with unauthorized vendors". All purchases on my card were for Groceries, credit card payments, gas, and other benign items. I then inquired what she meant by "unauthorized vendors" and she proceeded to accuse me of spending money on porn websites! If you think I am making this up, I assure you I am not. The call was recorded, and it will be pulled up by court subpoena if necessary. I then told her that I don't purchase porn. Period. I am a simple person and not interested in online erotica.
But that wasn't enough for her. She then mentioned a "declined purchase" from the night before (my account had $1800 at the time). The declined purchase: A donation to Donald Trump. Green Dot censored my donation to Donald Trump, and cut off my card because of that very donation. It was at that point that I realized that Green Dot had literally prevented me from exercising my constitutional right to donate to the political candidate of my choice. I still gave her the benefit of the doubt and thought that maybe there could have been some other unauthorized charge that caused GREEN DOT TO BLACKLIST ME FOR LIFE!
I then proceeded to press her to tell me exactly what unauthorized vendor I purchased from, that elicited such an action from Green Dot and she merely told me to "read the terms and conditions" of my agreement with Green Dot Bank. So I did. I read it twice, and then I read three more times. I did not once see any "list" of "UNAUTHORIZED VENDORS", NOR, WAS I EVER NOTIFIED OF A PURCHASE I MADE THROUGH AN "UNAUTHORIZED VENDOR". I then looked through my entire purchase history to see if there was any purchases that could be construed as being from an "unauthorized vendor" and I came up short. I then told the representative - who was working in call center in India, and who could care LESS about my issue - to go to hell, and hung up shortly thereafter.
So, in summary, I get an email saying that I needed to verify a charge made on my card, I call Walmart Money Card C/O Green Dot "Customer Service", I find out that my card would be cancelled once my funds ran out, and then, when I talk to a representative who I think can help me, after trying to get a representative 5 plus times!!!, I get a representative who has the audacity to accuse me of buying porn. What the hell is in the water at this company. This is GETTING LEGAL, AND IT'S GETTING LEGAL A...S...A...P!!!

This company is the worst fraud I have ever come across. They told me three times they were sending my $ but every time excuse like taking 15 minutes to get my address and still passively aggressively got it "wrong". Lied. Agents contradicted themselves. Wonder about a CIVIL action suit for all the people who never got their money back. Fraudulent behavior, illegal and thinking of bring them to court to follow the law like everyone else is supposed to do. After three months still do not have my money. Don't think I ever will unless the law is involved.

The rep gave me a unreachable extension so I can't follow up. Walmart money card was never delivered to me, and my money deposited to the account got deduction of $3 automatically for more than a year. The customer wait time on Walmart service is 30-50 minutes, but it's professional. Green Dot corporation resolution was not.

I received a email around three in the morning stating that my Green Dot account has been blocked. So I called customer support to see what the problem was. I finally reached sweet dear Anna who was vague on why my account was locked and proceeds to tell me that there was fraudulent affairs recently regarding my account and Green Dot no longer wanted to do business with me.
I have put well over a thousand dollars on my card over the past few months. If anything I should receive a gold card! Not be kicked completely off the Green Dot team completely without even a proper explanation. I use this card to call my brother who is in prison. I'm all he's got. I use my card through City Tele Coin and sometimes Red Box. That's all. I've done nothing. And I explained this to her and she still wouldn't give me a reason why the problem couldn't be fixed. Very dissatisfied with how she was so willing to dismiss me. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else out of the blue.

They have stolen my money. Theft by deception would be the legal definition. Their customer service is horrific. It's nearly impossible to speak with an actual person, and when you do the person you speak with can barely speak English. If you can't communicate effectively, why are you in customer service? The whole system appears to be designed to frustrate you into giving up on your money and just letting them have it. They never stole enough to make it worth my while to pursue legal action, so their scam worked and Walmart doesn't seem to care that their name is on these cards.
The experience started badly with this card, A Walmart Money Card, by Green DOT. I bought the one that allows you to put a photo on the card, three times the price of the initial card. They refused to use my photo because there was a firearm in the photo. I don't typically do business with anti-gun companies, I view them as un-American. It took most of a year to get the photo fees refunded.
For nearly two years they never sent me the permanent card, I was still using the temporary that came in the pack from Walmart, then it suddenly stopped working. Again, it literally takes days to reach an actual person. The only reason I got the card was for online transactions, so I controlled how much cash was on the card at any given time. I was trying to make a purchase, so I put money on the card the day it stopped working, that was $60 and as of writing, there is now about $49 on it. They're still taking their fees, but I can't get my money. They are taking money for services not rendered.
After days of trying to reach an actual person, I finally reached them through email and asked for a number to call a living person, they refused. Instead they will only call me on my cell phone while I'm at work. They nearly got me fired on top of it all. They lady I spoke with claimed to be a supervisor, but could hardly communicate. She didn't understand me, and I couldn't understand her. Eventually a new card arrived, I activated it and tried to use it. Nope! It didn't work either, so now several more days of trying to reach a person to resolve the issue. Yes, you guessed it, a different non-native English speaking person calls me AT WORK, unable to communicate, and still no resolution. They sent another card out, care to guess what happened with that card? They still get my money, but I don't.
All in all, just being the biggest, doesn't mean the best. This is just a way to scam people out of money and they seem to have the system fine tuned enough so that they don't get into legal trouble. Never taking enough money from a single individual, to be worth the trouble of prosecution. Any attorneys out there want to sue them as a group? I'll sign on and I don't even want the money. I just don't want them to continue to be rewarded for their criminal actions.

My boyfriend purchased a moneypak reload card so I could reload funds on my debit card. I attempted to log in, however forgot the password, so I requested a password reset. I didn't receive the initial reset so, I requested another password reset. Long story short, I was unable to load my debit card because Green Dot requested to verify my identity. They stated it would take 2 days to verify. There is no contact information available. So I am currently out of 300 dollars. Consumers should be able to contact a company especially when it involves money.

I tried setting up direct deposit to a Walmart Money Card with Green Dot Bank. Green Dot Bank lost my first 2 direct deposit Net to Bank. I advise customers to avoid using this product. The customer service tells callers to wait 2 pay periods for their first deposit to be credited. However, I discovered the Walmart Money card can not receive Net to Bank direct deposit because their accounts are an invalid type (source Eagan USPS) and Green Dot Bank has failed to return either direct deposit. It has now been almost a month and they have thus far failed to determine what they did with either of my direct deposits. For a bank this failure in accountability is unacceptable. How can Green Dot call itself a bank when it can not process direct deposits?

I opened this account to be able to transfer and receive money to and from my parents, which are out of state. There is an "outside" company you have to use to make the transactions to transfer money (MoneyPak) that has no contact information. Customer service for this company is a joke and the wait time to speak to a supervisor is 24 hours. I have money tied up on this card and am not able to use or receive it and no one can tell me why. When I called for help, I was told the processing department doesn't accept calls and any help or review of my account will take 24 hours. So you can put money on it but if there is an issue, you can't use YOUR OWN MONEY OR CARD. Do not use!

I have all my bills linked to my card. After I had investigated a charge on my card the charge was refunded to my card. A card that Green Dot had cancelled. I asked to have this card reactivated, I did not ask for a new card (for which I'm debited for). I now have funds I can not access, bills that are overdue, and it is impossible to get a live customer representative. I will not use Green Dot again. I will go back to Netspend where it is possible to speak to a human.

Bought a visa prepaid gift card for someone as a gift, younger than 10... to use to download apps and fun stuff. Turns out, when you register the card is REQUIRES you to supply social, address, phone number, and generally almost as much info as when I applied for a home loan. I attempted to contact customer service numerous times at 6 different phone numbers for the bank, it is always the same recording. I tried contacting them because we didn't want to give out our social which was not indicated on the packaging that you had to... YOU CAN NOT SPEAK TO A LIVE PERSON EVER, THERE IS NO OPTION FOR THAT... PERIOD!
Yes you can request a refund which let's face it, it may take months to get back and even then you can't talk to a live person... In other words, customer service is automated. Now, I'm only out 30.00 because I'm not ever ever ever giving those Yahoos my credit info. Don't even bother getting this card, buy someone something different, so it cost me 30.00 to learn this lesson...
Green Dot Prepaid Gift Cards are a joke, they make it exceeding hard to get your money back, supply you with ZERO access to a representative of any living kind, and give you ONE option to be able to use the card you just paid for and loaded with your money at the local CVS. It is not a scam but it "IS" HIGHLY SUSPECT.... Any good review you will ever read is either from someone who doesn't have a traditional bank account for whatever reason or from an employee which in itself is hard to believe because you are NOT ABLE to talk to representative of any kind EVER for any reason!
Horrifying and despicable business practice! MY OPINION WHICH I'M ENTITLED TO... DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT BUY THIS CARD UNLESS YOU HAVE A LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY! If you have trouble believing me and have 20.00 to toss out, do a test and buy one and see if you ever can reach a live person. In fact, save your money and try to contact someone at Green Dot. They call themselves a bank but I am looking into whether or not they abide by the exact same U.S. Banking Laws and guidelines, something tells me they do not!!! Save your money!!!

What a horrible company! First of all it costs $1.95 to purchase a card. On top of that, they charge $7.95 to use the card. And, they want your social security number to register a card. Horrible business practice! Stay away from this card company!

I ordered a new card 1 week ago and paid for Rush delivery (on 5/2/17); today is 5/8/17 and I still don't have the card. I was on hold via the Green Dot customer service number for over an hour and nobody ever picked up the line to help me. How am I supposed to get an answer to my question? Does anybody actually work there? I can't access my money and this is becoming scary.

I have money missing in my account that was reimbursed from a purchase. Refund was processed 2 weeks ago and Green Dot has not put the money in the account. Called customer service twice and was on hold for over an hour! There is no option to live chat either.

I was on my way to Toronto for a weekend when I had my card declined at a gas station. I looked up my account balance and my account was empty. Upon reviewing the transactions I found a half dozen card transactions in California. I only have one card and I live in Illinois. I called the stolen card/fraud hotline to report it. They immediately canceled the card and issued a new one. I asked when my money would be refunded and was told it had to be reviewed. I understand that but due to the fact they know I had a single card and every day there was a California transaction I had several in my home state, obviously I wasn't on the west coast. The following Monday I get a request to fill out a form and send in a list of fraudulent transactions. I logged-in to my account only to find that all transactions from March 29th to April 30 had disappeared, gone, nowhere to be found.
It's now been 10 days, I have 3 tickets open with GD for the transactions and the missing account history. I'm currently on the phone for the 4th time trying to get my $1000 back and have been on hold for over 20 minutes. The phone call was almost 40.minutes in length and then the woman hung up on me in the middle of our conversation. Sure glad I recorded it. Until this point I'd really enjoyed the card but their lack of fraud prevention, i.e. block unusual transaction and contact the customer to verify before approving. I'm really not expecting my money back but I'm in going to have to talk with the authorities to see what if any recourse is available to me. Again, buyer beware.

I would never recommend this company to anyone. Do NOT buy their "MoneyPak" to add funds to a prepaid card. I did so today for my husband who is out of state with no access to our bank account. When I went online to try to add the funds to his card, I continuously get an error message stating we have had too many MoneyPak transactions in the last however many days. Funny enough this is the FIRST time we are doing this. In turn there is no number to call to speak with anyone. When you try to contact Green Dot you have NO OPTION of speaking to anyone without a 16 digit card number or them having your social.
The reloadable card we are trying to add money to is a 123 rewards visa and in checking to see if it is eligible for this it most assuredly is. I now have a MoneyPak with 300$ on it and no way to load it to my husbands card. He is stuck out of state with no money, no food, no way to pay for his hotel. THANKS SO MUCH GREEN DOT (sarcastically).

I purchased over $1,100 in merchandise on May 26, 2017 at a T.J. Maxx retailer with cash and my reloadable Walmart VISA Debit Card. I then returned items on May 5, 2017 to the same retailer and the funds were returned in full on my reloadable Walmart VISA Debit Card. When I later tried making a purchase, my transaction was declined and that my account and refund was on block for further review through Green Dot. I called customer service and was instructed to email the original proof of purchase and the return receipts to validate my transactions. I did what was requested.
As of 3 days later and over 30 emails to www.verifymydocs@greendot.com with my attached receipts; I am still being given the runaround and my money is still not available!!! For Walmart to be over a billion dollar corporation, this is an insult and disgrace to a consumer on a fixed income for a return for as little as $855. I will never recommend this card to anyone ever again!!! Next I will be contacting the Department of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau to file an official consumer complaint. In addition too, I will also contact the local news broadcasters to question Walmart's wrongful ethics that are being practiced on consumers.

I am reviewing prepaid Walmart Debit Visa Green Dot card. I bought a card in September 2016 and put $500 on the card. On September 12, 2016, I paid $400 with that card to buy an item online. I never received the item. I received many emails from the business telling me that my item was on its way. I even was provided with numerous tracking numbers that turned out to be fake. I called Walmart Card Customer Service and explained my situation, and asked them what I can do. I got absolutely no help. I was told that I was out of luck by the Walmart customer service representative. I then called Visa- and I was told that Visa does not cover these kind of cards. The Visa representative told me that it was a Green Dot Issue. She was very helpful- gave me Green Dot's information and told me that I would have to fill out a dispute form. She told me to include the paper trail of emails to Green Dot.
On December 1, 2016, I filed a dispute with Green Dot- and spent much time organizing all of the emails in chronological order. Green Dot responded, "We do not handle Walmart Visa Debit cards, you will have to contact Visa." I was so frustrated and upset. I called Visa again- and they told me that Green Dot was an independent financial institution, and they had no right not to take my dispute seriously. I tried contacting Green Dot again with no success. I am on a very limited budget, so to me $400 is a lot of money to lose. I was so frustrated and in tears over losing the money and nobody helping me. I figured that the only thing that I can do is to continue to contact the company who never sent my item. I was told five times that they had mailed me a refund check.
I have a huge paper trail of emails proving that this online business scammed me and stole my money. I used a charge card, so I thought someone would be able to help me. But, Green Dot refused to take any responsibility for the transaction. I filled out a fraud case with Green Dot online, explaining what had happened and asking them to please help me. Again, I heard nothing from Green Dot. I disputed transaction with Green Dot- I filed a fraud report with Green Dot- and they still refuse to help me. Will somebody please tell me where I can get help?

I have had my Green Dot Prepaid Visa for about 4 years. I've had occasional charges that I didn't make show up and they've been disputed and resolved. The last issue I had was about 2 weeks ago. I loaded the Card and immediately had over $500 worth of charges to Amazon.com made, which I didn't make or authorize. I contacted Amazon and they confirmed the charges were fraudulent. I then filed my dispute with Green Dot after speaking with a customer service rep. Later I was sent an email stating that the disputes were denied after their "thorough" investigation.
I contacted Amazon and found out that no one from Green Dot had contacted them and that the charges were clearly not made from my account. So I had to re-send another dispute to Green Dot. They quickly responded that the case was closed. So I had to go through the dispute process from the start again. It's not resolved yet, but I can see litigation in the future if they don't refund my funds.

I bought a Green Dot Visa debit card recently, the cashier told me that he had registered but when I tried to use it, it appeared it's invalid! When I tried to register it on the website, it was shown that my street address is invalid! Can I ask what's the format for the street address to register? I was contacted immediately by Green Dot after posting my initial message in May. They immediately verified my story and sent me a refund check for the unused $200 that was on the card. They were very helpful and very courteous and very fast on the turnaround. For that reason, I would now recommend them based on their solid customer service.

I purchased a card on 7/14/16 for my daughter for a gift to use on a trip to Disney. I paid $200 for the credit plus a fee. It wasn't supposed to incur charges until after the first 90 days. Her trip was postponed, however the card apparently expired on 01/17!! You don't know that unless you open the packaging which wasn't done until my daughter needed the card a few months ago. I've spent the last several months writing the company with no response. You cannot email them or call them as they only take you on a barrage of endless calls that lead you nowhere if the card has not been registered which cannot be done if the expiration date is passed. So I lose $200 for a card that was never registered or used? Biggest scam going. Cards aren't even good for an entire year! I'm sure many elderly people and people without bank debit or credit cards are taken on this one. Maybe time for a class action suit.

I lost my card and had a replacement sent to my address. Card never arrived! So I called and got a replacement sent to a new address. In the meantime they put a block on my account and NO REPRESENTATIVE WILL HELP ME! I have waited up to two hours each call for someone to come to the phone and no one ever does!!! I do not have my 16 digit card number because my card was lost. So I can not enter to send in ID. I am getting lawyer involved soon and writing every news there is. This is a common problem and a scam.

My card was lost or stolen. I called to report it and the 3 transactions that I did not make. I submitted all required paperwork that was requested. They denied my claim and now I'm out the money. And told me there's nothing that can be done. I've jumped through hoops as they have requested and no one wants to help me. No sense of security and not helpful at all.
UPDATED ON 05/24/2017: I have purchased a Green Dot Walmart MoneyCard. Have fraudulent unauthorized charges on my account and I'm now working on my 3rd dispute with them. They continuously say they have not received my information. When I have voicemails from a representative claiming they have received my information. They denied my claim the 1st time due to insufficient evidence (After claiming they did not receive my dispute forms via email although I have an automated email receipt cleaning differently!). So I was advised to resend my information a 2nd time and did so to only be told yet again they still hadn't received it. I spoke with "Mike" who claims to be in corporate and gave me a different email address to send my documents too. As I did along with new information that was requested to research my dispute (Police report & case number.).
A few days later someone calls me and says they have reopened my case and have received my documents along with the "New documents" that was requested. Advised me it would take up to another 10 days for a resolution. I waited and on my 10th day I called to check the status of my claim. I was advised my claim was once again denied claiming they did not receive no new information to reevaluate my dispute. When I sent in a copy & case number of the police report filed and a representative even called me to inform me that information was received! So I requested to speak to a supervisor at this point and he advises me that we need to reopen this again and I need to resubmit all my information for a third time!!! I did so once again as requested.
I've now been dealing with the issue for almost 2 months and still not resolved. Everyone passes the buck and no one takes ownership. I have countless automated email responses proving I have submitted my information and then Green Dot, claiming that they have not received my documentation. I have countless hours of time invested into calling customer service (To only get the runaround). They claim they need 10 business days to resolve your issue such as a dispute. Yet don't make any decision until the final 10th business day. There's actually no dispute department you could speak with per se. I'm to the point now that I'm seeking legal advice for my rights. I would HIGHLY not recommend this card or Green Dot Corporation!!!

I will never in my life use GreenDot again. I have been waiting on my tax refund to post to my card. The IRS sent it out 5/3. And it is now the night of 5/4 and still nothing. I use NetSpend as well and never had this issue. When I contacted GreenDot via Facebook messenger, they simply gave me a generic response that they will post the funds when they receive them, but they received my refund yesterday so where is my money!? Never again, Greendot, and I will be sure to tell everyone I know. It's imperative I receive my money as I have bills due like everyone else, and this card is basically ruining my life. I was gifted a prepaid Green Dot card with a $45.00 balance. When I called to register card it required information I did not wish to provide. So I requested a refund of the card, the man on the phone was helpful and stated I would get a check in the mail within 2 weeks. That was in January, it is now May and have not received my refunded check!!!! I've tried and tried to call the customer service number and I have been unsuccessful getting through to a real person!!! I am so disappointed on how hard it is to get REAL customer service with this company. Never again will I get a Green Dot card in the future, and do not recommend to anyone else.

I have used prepaid cards for years. I used to use RushCard which also advertised depositing payroll up to 2 days early and they always did. My payroll is transmitted at 2:30pm EST every Wednesday but I don't receive my pay til Thursday (same as if I had a paper check). I worked in ACH in banking for many years and am sickened by the lies CSRs try to tell me about it. This will be me and my son's last Direct Deposit and I have asked everyone I know to close their cards. This practice is deceptive to say the very least.

Cannot use the gift card without first registering it. I do not like the fact that I am required to give my SSN and other identifying information over the internet to use the gift card from my son. I tried to use their website and went ahead and registered the card. But the site says that my session has timed out. I tried 3 separate times and got an error each time. Tried calling the number on the back of the card and it tells me that I have entered an invalid number. There is apparently no way to contact the company for assistance. This is a major scam.

I been with Green Dot for more than 3 yrs now. I had some hiccups throughout those yrs but this is the big one. I still haven't receive my promo I was promised, from using the direct deposit Walmart MoneyCard and Jackson Hewitt $50.00. I did my part. I still waiting for both parties to fulfill their promises. I can tell this much I will change my prepaid card to Amex prepaid card if this doesn't get resolved soon. After a customer rep supervisor told me that I did qualify for the promo. She didn't have a timeline when I would receive my money. It has been over 3 months for a 10 day promo to be loaded in my card. Till this day I haven't received nothing. I will keep on fighting what is mine. That what they want for most people to forget about it. Please give me my promo. Thanks.

I know these things happen but filing a dispute with Green Dot has been a horrible experience thus far. I feel like I will never get that money back. The reason why I got this card was to have money able to be used online for credit checks and flower orders and whatnot and I don't want something tied to my SSN for risk of someone on the sites I don't know personally stealing my identity. I go to activate it and apparently it needs my SSN? This is honestly false advertising. What's the point of a "PRELOADED" debit card, if it's tied to my CREDIT score.

I purchased a $50.00 Green Dot card on April 29 and when I tried to register the card, it showed invalid. When I called number listed on back of card, I was unable to reach a live person so I waited until Monday, May 1. After speaking with several agents on Monday and experiencing multiple transfers not a one agent had resolved this and the last agent I spoke with on Monday who identified herself as Army asked for the receipt information which I no longer had so she said I needed to call back with the information from the receipt in order to look into it. She gave me a number and extension to call back as follows: 866-443-6669 ext. **. I called the store who gave me the corporate number and when I spoke with corporate they emailed me a copy of the receipt.
I called back today, May 2 to the number given to me by Army just to be told I called wrong number and unable to reach rep or extension given. I was transferred several times before being told there is a pin block on card and would be transferred to someone who could unblock. Spoke with Chelsea who stated she needed to open a case for investigation as to why the card is invalid. I advised her that I was recording call and asked her location. She said she is in Philippines and went on to ask for information from the receipt and my info and provided a case number and stated an investigator will contact me within 1 business day.
My question was, "So you can't unblock the card and you can't tell me why I spent $50.00 for an invalid card that you are selling" and she said no. Chelsea was courteous but when I tell you not a one of those agents showed concern or empathy and I even mentioned that to Chelsea which she didn't even acknowledge. She went on to tell me to email copy of receipt and front/back of card to verifymydocs@greendotcorp.com. Green Dot has employees with no customer service skills and just speak the script, certainly no human feel. So now I have to wait on their investigation as to why they are selling invalid cards.

I put 88 dollars on a card purchased from Walgreens. After trying to activate it, I realized how much personal information it required, and I decided to request a refund on the phone. After talking to some support rep, who sounded like was from another country (meaning the call center was based somewhere else), I was assured I would get a check for the money in the mail in two weeks. It is over two weeks now and I have received no check. I have tried to call 5 different numbers, even the corporate office, and I am unable to get a human because the card is "invalid". The email I sent to them, explaining my situation, was replied to with directions of how to activate my card. I am so angry with this company and its lack of support.

Well, I peeled back the paper on my card, entered the info and it said it wasn't valid. I entered it correctly X amount of more times and then it told me I reached my daily limit and must wait 24 hours to try and re register! Just messed up my credit so bad. This is **.

Love everything about the card except when I am sitting in the cold with no ** gas to get home, because the photo deposit feature they provide is a joke. As soon as the local banks open I am going to open an account there and cut up my Walmart/Green Dot card. Or better yet burn it, that way I may be able to get a little bit warm.

Purchased a Green Dot pre-paid card on April 28th 2017 from Walgreens. I loaded $188 onto the card and when I got home to make my purchase, I was provided with a response saying, "Your card registration requires further review" and to allow 2 business days before any transactions could be made. Searched everywhere for a contact number for them and one doesn't exist. So basically, they took my money.

I received a Green Dot prepaid Visa card as a gift - the worst gift I've ever received. First, I think it's absolutely insane that I had to enter my social security number to register a gift card. If I don't want the debit services and all the rest of the junk they offer, I should have the option to decline all of that and use the gift card as just that - a gift card. Second, the card was supposed to be worth $75, but I made $71 in charges and the second charge was declined because apparently they charge a $7.95 fee as soon as the card is activated. Then, after a difficult process of waiting on hold for over 25 minutes and finally finding the information faster online, I closed the account. I was supposed to get a $4.** refund which I have yet to receive.
I have tried calling customer service and can never get to an actual person. You have to enter your card number or social security number to continue, and when I do that, it just tells me the check was mailed on the 13th (well over two weeks ago) and hangs up without allowing me to ask for customer service or a representative. I think this may be the biggest joke and scam of a company I've ever encountered. My aunt paid a $1.95 fee to put money on the card plus the $75, and I only got to use about $63 of that. Green Dot pocketed the rest. Do yourselves, friends, and family a favor - if you want to get a gift card, get one directly to a store, restaurant, etc. Stop putting money in Green Dot's pocket instead of the person you are trying to gift!

This card company is a JOKE! They could care less about the fact that people have bills and families to support. They closed my account without any notification. At least I would have had time to change my direct deposit information! Now my paycheck is going to a closed account and I don't have access to my money to buy food for my kids!!!
I disputed two transactions just stating that I had previously cancelled. They wanted to shut the whole card down. Said 7 business days. After 2 weeks, the card had not arrived. I had to order a new card and they made me pay $15 for expedited delivery. They never offered that as an option the first time!!! The hold times are ALWAYS 30 minutes to speak to someone who has no REAL information for you. Just keeps apologizing. Smh. I currently have $750 that I cannot get to and rent is due in 4 days. I will definitely be seeking legal counsel. They need to be shutdown.

My 11 year old son received a Green Dot visa debit card for his birthday. When we went to activate the card, it asked for his birthday, social security number, phone number, address, name, etc. What!? To activate a gift card?! Why would I provide all of this information to a company just to use a $20 gift card? Feels like a scam. Either they are requesting this information to use inappropriately, or to make it so difficult that we just forfeit the gift card. In our case, we will be doing the latter.

I am joining the chorus of mystified consumers of the Green Dot debit card who have made it their life's work to simply reach a human customer service representative at the Green Dot corporation. I purchased the card 2 days ago (and loaded it with $500) for a Special Olympics athlete who is traveling to the east coast for an athletic competition. Unfortunately, the unopened card packet was accidentally thrown in the trash yesterday and lost. In attempting every possible method to contact the company and report it lost, I am literally at wits end in trying to find a crack in Green Dot's brilliant & fascinating customer avoidance policy. It is impossible to report a lost card if the card was lost before the package was opened, or card registered.
I am a VP at a large and well respected international non-profit - consequently I have built a career focusing, in large part, on customer service. This lack of regard for the most basic consumer satisfaction is shocking. We have no recourse but to direct our charity's legal council to utilize more aggressive measures to protect these funds that were donated by caring individuals. I have given up - I have now wasted nearly 9 hours of my work day to report this card lost - even going so far as trying to reach executives at Green Dot that are members of LinkedIn AND Facebook - but to no avail. I'm sick to death for the young man (with an intellectual disability) that accidentally lost this card - for he cannot now attend the Special Olympics athletic competition that he has trained for since May of 2016. I'm begging some representative from Green Dot to break thru this bizarre policy and help us get this dilemma solved.

I recently purchased a Green Dot card to make a purchase. I put $225 on the card and proceeded with my purchase. I called the vendor and made the purchase. A week later now the purchase has still not gone though, and my balance on my card is now .25 cents. I have called Green Dot at least 6 times to try and find out what's going on. I am put on hold by a machine every single time. Yesterday someone actually answered. I told him what has happened and he said he had to get a supervisor. I was on hold for a total of 32 min and finally gave up again. This is beyond frustrating. I'm out $225 not knowing where it went and am getting no help. How can a business stay in business when I can't even get help from a problem? Someone please help!!!

I asked a clerk at a Walmart store for the best card I could use to make small purchases in the internet because I am afraid to use either my bank card or credit card in the internet. The clerk gave me a Visa card saying that it cost only a dollar to load and from then on only a dollar to reload. When I went to register the card I read the instructions, I discovered that Visa has a MONTHLY SERVICE CHARGE of $5.00 plus $3.00 to reload. In addition, in order to register you are required to enter your name, address, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER and DATE OF BIRTH!
I returned to Walmart to return the card and get my 60 dollars back to no avail. I explained to the manager that the only reason I needed a card to use in the internet was to avoid getting my identity stolen and I was not willing to give out my social security number and date of birth, I also am not willing to give my money away by paying monthly charges because I was not planning to use the card all the time.
I depend on social security and have a very limited income. The manager at the Walmart store recommended that I use the card only once and then don't use the card anymore. But, he refuses to understand that in order to use the card I will have to register it and I do not want to be force to give out my date of birth and social security number. He tells me to call the number on the card, and again to get customer services you either have to enter your social security number which I am not willing to give, or you have to enter the account number which I don't have it unless I register first.
I was also told that the reason visa ask for this information is to prove your identity. I don't have to prove who I am. I paid cash and I have my receipt, that is proof enough that I bought it. I do not agree with their terms and I would like to have my money back. Pleas help. I have called Walmart customer services and visa gift card 1 866 511 GIFT and they all refer me back to the same number in the back of the card, which is automated.

Currently, I am deployed overseas and closed my account before I left. I was recently notified that I would be receiving an refund on the now closed GD card and have been attempting to call customer service but I need my card number!! I forgot the number so because I don't have the card number I cannot talk to CS? Crazy!! I even tried contacting corporate to no avail. So future service members, please avoid this company!!

When I tried to get a refund on the card I had just bought, all the animated helper could tell me was it had to be registered online and goodbye. I did not want to register the card online because I did not want to put my social security onto the account. All I want is to talk to a human being and get my money back.

Green Dot has the worst customer service. They say the generic version to everything. My account was used for a purchase and I immediately contacted them and after 10 business days they told me name of the person that purchase was made under and it wasn't me. You would think that would be enough for my refund but they said it could take up to 45 days. That's ridiculous time frame!!! So I got a replacement card and has a hotel incidental charge of $25 and the merchant released the $25 but Green Dot hold it for 2 weeks until they'll release it. This company is a rip off completely. I will never use them again and tell everyone I know don't waste their money.

I bought a Green Dot card to use online and they never gave me a name, won't give me a name for it. I have tried to log into my account and it won't work. I have tried to reset the password and it keeps saying that the password has already been used. And now this card is useless. I put money on a card for online purchases and I can't use it for that. I want a refund of my money or a name for the card so I can use it.

They put a block on my account pending further review but I have yet to get a live person on the phone to sort this out. It's all the money I have. I have no way to get my kids to school because I need gas and can't afford to pay for it because all of it is on my card. This company scams people and steals their money! Don't get one of their cards!

My 16 yr old son want a prepaid gift card, he went into the pharmacy and picked up a Green Dot card. When he got home little did he know he had to put in his Social Security #. He asked me for his SS# I asked him for what. When he told me to activate the Green Dot card I asked him if he was crazy! I made the purchase for him but now he is down $25. The pharmacy will not refund him his money. This sucks!!! I cannot get on to anyone from Green Dot so I can get refunded and the pharmacy keeps telling us to call Green Dot. I have to activate the stupid card which I will NOT do. Customer service suck there!!! GREEN DOT SUCKS!!! My son saved 3 weeks from his allowance to get to $25 to make his purchase!!!

A family member purchased several cards as gifts to the family. Unfortunately, you cannot spend them without registering and providing personal information - social security, date of birth and address. I attempted calling the number on the card and was only given two options, no option to speak with an operator. Attempted to get more information at their website but of course you need to provide personal information there too. I am hoping my sister did not waste her money on what she thought was a one time use card. Me and my family do not want to provide our personal information in exchange for a one time use and no intention of setting up an account or reloading the card.

I was scammed using 3 $500 Green Dot cards. I am trying to report them stolen. They stole my card information, and I have been trying to get through to their customer service for a whole day. Their policy states that you must report your stolen cards within two business days. Well, one down, one more to go, but no luck in getting in touch with them!!! Already filed with FBI.

After returning home from vacation and finding out that my cards were stolen I immediately called support. After waiting a very long time and being disconnected TWICE I printed out the dispute forms and emailed them hoping they would stop my card. This was on 03/28/2017. They charged me a $5 fee to replace my card. On 04/05/2017 I contacted them for an update and they stated my claim was being worked on. On 04/06/2017 they sent me an email stating I needed to add money to my account.
On 04/15/2017 I again requested an update and was informed my request was being worked on. They stated I should contact each merchant to get a refund and if unsuccessful I should again contact them (after 10 days). I asked why they would not tell me to do that on day one and whether or not they would continue to take action to refund my money. I received no response. On April 19 I received the following email:
"Thank you for contacting Green Dot regarding your dispute. We have an important update on your dispute. After thorough research, your dispute has been denied. A letter with more details has been sent to your mailing address. We have now closed this dispute and the specialist has no additional information available. Upon request, we will send you a copy of any supporting documentation we used in making our decision."
I called but when I enter the information it tells me that I can't access that account due to it being frozen and disconnects me and I have yet to receive anything from them in the mail. Now I understand all the bad reviews... and it simply cost me my entire paycheck, and shut off my gas and electric service. All this because I thought it would be cool to be paid one day earlier. Learned my lesson... PLEASE DO NOT USE GREEN DOT! Take your money elsewhere! They are thieves... and are not held accountable as a regular bank would be. BTW, they also voided out my $100 cash back they owed me.

On April 15th, 2017 someone was able to access my account via an ATM machine at a Speedway Gas Station at 5800 S. Harlem, Summit IL. and steal $405.00. Since April 15th, Green Dot has given me the run around in regards to filing a dispute and assisting with replacing my funds. I've been transferred numerous times, been placed on hold for 15 mins. or longer numerous times, hung up on, and lied to all while trying to get my money back. I've been a customer with Green Dot for several yrs. never had any issues, so I am extremely disheartened, that I would be treated this way, in this situation.

A company charged my card in error. I called the company and they said that the charge would be reversed in 24-48 hours because they sent an electronic reversal. The charged still remains. I called Green Dot, they said the company needs to send a statement of release. A statement of release was sent. Green Dot claims the statement of release was not valid because it was not send via attachment as a letterhead. I called the company and they emailed the statement of release with an attachment. Green Dot said they received it and it would be 24-48 hours to have the funds released.
48 hours later still not release. I called Green Dot, they said they never received a statement of release to have them email it. I called the company again and had them email it again. I call Green Dot the next day, they closed the case because I have not provided them with a statement of claim. Green Dot opened a case again and is asking for another statement of claim. I am calling the company again to send another statement of claim.

On March 31, I received my social security pay early, and at the same time, 3 pending transactions deducted from deposit. I disputed these frauduelent charges and even filed a police report. They stated since I have shopped at Walmart before that these charges were valid. I still had my credit card in my wallet. They refuse to give me my money back. Even filed police report.

I tried and there is no way to get my money back. I went to "about us" in the same webpage to find some information or phone number, and appears "under construction". There's no one to talk. I feel like they stole my money

I bought a Visa cash back prepaid card and loaded 160.00 on it, which after 3 days of ENDLESS phone calls which did absolutely NOTHING as far as resolving my INVALID CARE issue. I was routed and rerouted from the U.S. to the Philippines... to who knows where else. I tried to contact the store where I purchased it. ALL SALES NON REFUNDABLE AND ONCE AGAIN...THEY CAN'T HELP ME. I am currently living from hotel room to hotel room... I needed that money to pay for my room again so my puppies and I aren't on the streets but no one cares about that.

I was so concerned about my card being locked and us losing our money. However I submitted my state ID and despite my id listing my maiden name Green Dot called me and had it fixed the NEXT DAY! It was so easy and the gentleman was so helpful!!! Thank you Green Dot for caring so much about getting everything with our card fixed!!! We're very grateful. Wonderful customer service!!

Wow, lost my card today and so I deactivated it which is responsible on my part. The Nightmare... Reach out to bank for overnight delivery. They do not overnight but I request 3 day delivery for 15.00. No funds in the request. They waive the but their system is not working. Advised to call next day. Huh this is the next day... I run out of my BP meds on Friday. Wow Green Dot.

Purchased a supposed valid Green Dot Visa card only to get a message at registration that it's an invalid card. Loaded it, brought it home, attempted to register the card online and by phone. Required to enter the 16 digit card number, expiration date and 3 digit security number from the reverse of the card - done, only to get an Invalid Card message. Unable to return it to the store where it was purchased although the store manager made a number of calls without any better success; unable to speak to a human. Green Dot website is of no help, all of the phone numbers are auto answered; we want our preloaded money back!!!

I bought my 3rd Green Dot card so that I could pay some bills and leave the other two for gas and food. I went to activate the card and it say invalid card. I called Green Dot and had to wait for 52 minutes to talk to someone and he had to transfer me! I have now waited for 2 and half hours without anyone answering. This is crazy. My bill is now late and shut off and I am still waiting. This is the most screwed up system I have ever dealt with.
