I've had other Green Dot cards and it used to be 30 minutes and you could pay bills online. Now with no notice on the package it's been changed to 8 hours... 8 freaking hours are you kidding?! I never would've used this brand if they were being honest about the inconvenience this causes.

I put money on my Green Dot Debit card in order to pay fees for something really important. Turns out someone stole it from my mail box. Green Dot customer service is basically non-existent. I can't do anything at this point. I called c-s. The person changed my info. Green Dot is okay for small purchases. But I practically got robbed and I cannot do anything. Worst feeling.

I got the card as a birthday present but I have no social so I could not register the card. I tried calling but one cannot get in touch with their customer service if the card is not registered. I tried contacting them through social media outlets no response. They have no email address on their website but I found feedback e-mail address so I wrote there-no response. I made an account here with an option for info about company. Somebody responded after a few days. Mind you, I have been trying for 3 weeks to get in touch with them at that point. So after explaining the situation to them, they asked me to send them the picture of the card which I did.
After that they informed me that the funds on the card were used last year and that if I wanted further investigation I needed the receipt. I explained them that I got the card as a gift and had no receipt. Got no response after that. I gave my friend the card and she registered it and the card had $50 on it. So they straight up lied to me! I feel like this company should be reported somewhere.

I bought a Green Dot Load & Go Prepaid Card from Walgreens and put $100 on it last week. I went home to activate it and it's telling me that the front credit card numbers don't match the three digit code on the back. I've been trying to activate it for over a week. I went back to Walgreens and they told me that they don't do refunds and won't give me my money back. I then asked to speak with a manager. I explained my situation and told her that I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone.
She takes the card and the receipt and goes in the back to try and contact someone at Green Dot. She comes back out and tells me that she has a representative on the phone for me to talk to. The man I spoke to from your company told me to email a picture of the front and back of the card, and a copy of the receipt with the case # written at the top... which he gave me... and send it all to rr@greendot.com. He said that it would be 24-48 hours until someone would respond.
I still haven't received a response. I sent the email again a few days ago... still no response. This just doesn't seem right. That was my last $100 I had to spend. I'm on a really tight monthly income and I don't think that this in any way acceptable! I need help ASAP. I am so upset and sick over this. Green Dot, if you are reading this can you please help me to solve this matter. I have also sent emails with the screenshots you requested and got no reply. This has to be illegal. HELP!!!

I enrolled 10/7/17 for direct deposit with my Walmart Money Card through Green Dot. On the morning of payday (today) my account has no deposit. I checked with my employer, the account and routing number they DEPOSITED my paycheck to is 100% correct. Green Dot customer service is telling me no deposit was made. My employer showed me the deposit was in fact made and is complete.
Still no solution to my calls to customer service. I don't believe what the customer service reps are telling me, since I saw it with my own eyes. Now I have no $$ to survive. Even the transfer # didn't help since it will take 1-2 business days for them to "look into it". I am now left with nothing to survive until they can figure it out. Please do yourself a favor and NEVER use Green Dot for anything, it seems to me that they dont care about their loyal customers. I have been using this card for over 6 months and finally got around to direct deposit, that was the worst mistake I could have made. They have poor customer service and I will NEVER use them again.

When I returned items to Kmart, they refunded to my Green Dot card. No refund posted! Have receipt of transaction physically in hand. Green Dot says the transaction never took place. No answers on the phone. No real contact info on website... Can't afford these things happening!!!

After speaking to someone the process is now resolved although still the company should make a backup to contact a person as being blocked makes it very difficult to reach a person and many people prefer human interaction over machines

When I made a complaint about possible unauthorized use of my bank account info you locked my account. Now I can't even get through to a person on the phone to ask how the investigation is going. I got my new card and my direct deposit went in yesterday but I still cannot access my own money. I'm incredibly unpleased about this as I am a single parent and I need to go shopping for my child.

I purchased a Green Dot Debit Visa from Walgreens on Oct 10. I loaded 50$ on the card. My grocery money to buy groceries through an app and the purchase did not go through. None of my purchases would go through. It says it's no money on the card and the card is invalid. It would not even let me register the card online because it says the card is invalid. I'm going to try to mail it back to get a refund. I really need my money back asap.
Updated on 10/30/2017: Purchased Green Dot Card loaded 50$ on the card. Try to register over phone and online. Could not 'cause it says the card is invalid. Found this lovely websites, placed my complaint, got a response. Would you believe that I have called the corporate number 4 times. I'm calling every day. I called early this morning but am I shocked no because I know they not gonna give me my money back. P.S. I still need my groceries but I will get on this website every day and let everyone know how wonderful their customer service is. I been calling Mr. ** ever since he responded to my complaint but I call that number every day and leave a message. Never get a person. People be wise and have a great day. Meanwhile I'm waiting waiting waiting.

I lost my card a few weeks back, and I called in to get it replaced. They said it would get here in a weeks time. It’s been 3 weeks now, and I still haven’t received my replacement card. When I call for help, I can’t even speak to anyone because I don’t know my card number. It’s really annoying.

Put all the money I had on my card to pay two bills. I then paid $408 for my car payment. It went through so I call my electric provider to pay my electric bill and it wouldn't go through. I put $1000 On the card in which $560 was going to electric! I then received a email saying my card was blocked due to suspicious activity. I sent in my driver license several times and it says they can't read it! My pictures of my dl are clear there's no reason they can't see it! Tried every number I could find for Green Dot and still can't talk to a live person! I need my money back NOW!!!

Don't believe a word that Green Dot tell you. Green Dot is a liar and they scam this person that we know and they lie about everything. They transfer you to this department, that department. We bought this card two years ago and they still haven't done anything. A police report has been filed and we will be pressing charges against them. Green Dot is a scam. Don't believe them. We send documents. They can't read them. It not clear. We need to create over 100 case numbers and still haven't solved it.

Last week I put $260.00 on a prepaid Green Dot card and now they are saying the card is “blocked.” I’ve sent countless pictures of my driver’s license just for them to keep saying the picture “is not legible.” When I call, the automated system will not let me get through to speak with someone! I don’t have access to my funds & I have bills to be paid. PLEASE JUST GIVE ME MY MONEY!!!

I live in Tennessee. My paycheck was deposited and two days later by someone in California. They took all my money in two days without question from the institute. I have not received reimbursement 30 days later because they have to "investigate". I contacted the stores in California where the fraudulent charges were done and obtained video of the transactions and records of them. Gave the info to Green Dot. STILL haven't received my money. They refuse to inform me what had been done to"investigate" the charges. Just keep telling me it's being investigated. Quick to let someone take money from another state but have to jump through hoops to get my own money back. I live in Tennessee the charges were done in California with proof. How much investigating does one have to do to return stolen money.

Had a Green Dot card for 8 months. My husband's paycheck was direct deposit this past Friday. He got paid and I tried to pay our bills like normal to find out the card was frozen. Now they closed the account. Took 4 days to talk to a person for her to be rude and tell us we will not get our money that was in the account. How can it be legal for them to do this? We are left with no money & out his paycheck... Someone PLEASE help.

Purchased a Green card debit card and when I received it in the mail they had spelled my name wrong and also the street. After an extended wait for customer service was connected with someone who had a poor grasp of the English language. Was told they could send another card but it would be the same that they could not correct the spelling which defeats the purpose. This is ridiculous because need correct for when my ID is checked. Will activate, pull my money off and destroy the card. There is no excuse for this.

I have the Green Dot card and I have been sent the email from Green Dot for the Spin and Win game every Wednesday. Well I play on Sept 20th. I won 50 dollars. It's been more than 10days nothings been deposited on my card. I called Green Dot. They told me they don't have a promotion like this but yet it's advertising on their page and the email comes from them. Emailed the prize department just for them to tell me I have to wait 10 days which I have and told them that sent them the confirmation number and everything and haven't heard a word back from them!

I purchased a MoneyPak card, loaded with $500. The MoneyPak card was purchased with the cash that had just been sent to me via MoneyGram by my friend. This was all the cash I had. I was instructed by customer service of the prepaid card I owned to purchase a MoneyPak and that their card was compatible. I verified on the Green Dot website before purchasing to ensure it was in fact compatible. So I went to the MoneyPak website, scratched the number off on the back of the MoneyPak card, proceeded to load the funds onto my personalized prepaid card... Then I get a ** message that says, "Due to prior negative activity with Green Dot, you will not be able to use MoneyPak." The ONLY way to get my ** money back was thru a check sent to my address.
Oh but wait. It gets better. Not only can I get an immediate refund... It's a check that will be at my house in 7-10 business days. I WON'T BE ** HOME in 7-10 days GREEN DOT!!! WHAT THE ** AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW??? This was the only money I had access to. Now I am stranded with $2 cash in my wallet. Which would be there in 7-10 business days... WHAT THE ** Negative activity!?!? How the ** can I have negative activity when I have never utilized the service of this worthless, fraudulent company called Green Dot? Furthermore, it is impossible to reach customer service. A human, that is in customer service. Perhaps because by the time being all the people that have been done the same disservice get thru with their agents... They would all quit.
I am seeking legal counsel in this matter immediately. I am going to sue you... Green Dot... or should I say Greed Dot for punitive and compensatory damages caused by this negative and traumatic experience. You have threatened my sobriety and I am holding Green Dot accountable for this cold, calculated and malicious act. I feel as though I am the target of discrimination and you will pay. There is nothing you can do or say that will take back the anger and my intent of seeking damages caused by such a heartless prepaid company.

I was given a Walmart Visa prepaid debit card for $100. When I opened it and I check my balance it only had five dollars on the card. So, at the end of July 2017 I called the number on the card which connected me to Green Dot Corporation and I disputed the charges which were obviously not mine but from another state. Finally October 8, 2017 I've had $95 restore to my card. Over the last two months I cannot tell you how many times I've been put on hold and given wrong information. The only reason that I believe that I had the $95 for restored to my card was because I used a phone app to record the conversation, informed them of it and refused to get off the line until they got me to a person in the corporate office.
Fred who in corporate told someone missed something and got my $95 very quickly. I see it quite differently. I believe that Green Dot has a system which is designed to have people give up on their disputes. It was to hardest $95 that I have ever worked for. I am person who got this card as a gift but many people use these cards because they cannot afford a credit card. I am convinced many would not have had the time to fight Green Dot Corporation for 2 months for $95 that was taken from them. I am a reasonable and level-headed person and I am writing this because I am convinced the Green Dot system on disputes is designed to wear out the customer so that they will give up on disputed charges.

Hello, so I am a college student and I recently put my scholarship money on a Green Dot card. Due to circumstances of having the same wallet as someone else at a social my card was lost and I reported it lost the night of. I've recently received my new personalized card and when I tried to activate it that card was also blocked. I gave the Green Dot website my Californias ID to give them proof and verification. The address on my ID is my home address and not my college address that is listed on my Green Dot card.
I tried to reach a representative on the phone but was unable to after multiple tries. The automated voice on the phone told me (after I put in my card information) that my card was blocked and my account was closed and that I would no longer be able to upload money onto the card. I really liked Green Dot before this but if my card does not become unblocked or it does and I am not able to upload money onto it I will be very hurt and disappointed. I would genuinely love it if a representative was able to contact me. An actual person and not an automated voice and answer my questions. I need to be able to upload money onto my account for school. Thank you very much for reading and I hope I can speak to someone soon.

I bought this card to send money to my daughter away at school... I could not transfer the money with the temporary card and was told I have to wait up to 2 weeks to get permanent card. The deal breaker was when I looked at the back of the card it says no ATM or cash access. That info was not available until after you purchase and load card... Refund takes 2 weeks. I will never recommend anyone use this card or company...

I bought a card about a week and a half ago, it's been working just fine but this morning I was told that my card has been deactivated and closed due to "suspension activity". The email I received said I am temporarily blocked, I was provided a number to call so I did, the automated system told me that the account has been closed and that I can't open another card with Green Dot and that I can't restart the one I have now.

On October 7th 2017 I purchase a GreenDot card and put a total. I purchased cards to pay bills. I can no longer pay the bills because they said it's a claim. It's a hold on my money. I'm going to find a lawyer and find out what actions can be taken against them.

I have a few cards blocked. Straight Green Dot cards and Walmart. I have sent pictures of my driver's license and of my passport card over 9 times and they keep saying that it is invalid or they cannot see it or whatever. I need my money. On the 23rd there were 3 withdrawals made from an ATM of $501.50, $481.50, and $61.50. The thief also made two balance inquiries to make sure they took it ALL. And they did. I moved from Arkansas to Colorado 7 months ago. I've been saving up for an apartment to move into because right now I'm homeless and living in my 2013 Hyundai Genesis. All the money in the bank was for bills that are due (yet haven't been paid) and for a place to live. Now I'm broke with no money for food or gas to stay warm or cool. I went to Walmart on the 24 when my card declined. I checked my account and noticed the theft and called Green Dot Bank immediately. After I called them then I filed a police report at the Greenwood Village PD. Green Dot Bank advised me to start a transaction dispute and send them the paperwork via email (which I did). After all that they gave me a date Oct 6 which I will have an answer about the investigation.
I call everyday regardless in hopes that something good happens because every day I have to beg strangers for money just to eat. No answers until the 6th. Ok, I call on the 6th 4 times and no one can tell me anything. So I call on the 7th (today) and they tell me they need more time. I am desperate for the losses as I am unable to take care of myself due to $1100 being stolen from me. I thought if it is an atm withdrawal banks have 10 days to investigate and they must tell you the results. I thought if they can't prove it against you they must release the funds while they continue their investigation. I thought if you were found to be at fault after their investigation is finalized then you must pay back in full within 90 days.
Can they have me out here in the elements, starving without my money returned and for how much longer do I have to suffer? I'm in Colorado, it starts snowing this weekend into the next week. I'll be forced to stay in my car during this storm. I hope I don't freeze to death. I am terribly frightened and all I want is my money back or an answer as to what is going on...how much longer will this take? I'm calling FDIC and lawyers on Monday...I don't know what else to do.

I had recently had a problem with a refund for canceling car insurance and I am just receiving payment after a long 45 days of frustration and now that the payment was sent to Green Dot because it was the card I had use during my car insurance. Now Green Dot refuses to grant the receiving payment on my existing card and decided to put a block on the card to allow me to use, it's my money that I work so hard for and now it presents another problem that I should not have to go through all these headaches for the amount of $567.00!!! It's just not fair to accept.

Green Dot may be under investigation by The Federal Reserve Bank. (FRB), FDIC, and BBB as well as the SEC. It is believed they are using customer accounts as their personal piggy bank and misrepresenting company value. Reporting claims to FDIC for money they themselves have stolen. I believe this is the reason behind the 90-day transaction dispute process when a card is reported stolen and fraudulent charges occur. Most financial institutions will reimburse immediately but it is believed that due to investigations FDIC is not paying their claims. I believe Green Dot is not only stealing from its cardholders but from all American taxpayers.

I love using my card. I like that I can go to load it at my favorite store. I dislike that I can't transfer from my other card anymore though. I was using it for my kids as an emergency card for food when I'm not around. Other than that, it's a great card to have and I have recommended it to my friends and colleagues for their direct deposits. I get mine a day before and it really helps me out that way. I also like the fact that I have cash back rewards. That's awesome.

App is very user friendly. I love that I get paid 2 days early. The only thing I don't like is the monthly fee which I feel should be waived if signed up with direct deposit. The fees for adding money are reasonable.

I have mad confidence in Green Dot and they don't have any central bank nonsense. I suggest it to everyone. They are easy to use and never have a limit overdraft fee. Also they have a human person answering all your questions and someone handling all the issues.

Hello. Green Dot is a good card for the most part. I just don't understand why you charge a monthly fee and a reloadable fee. It should be one or the other. This is worth it except having to pay a monthly fee. With that being said at least I'd like to pay 5$ not 8 a month but doing good. Also the 3.50$ it takes to withdraw is kinda crap but I like the spin and win if I ever actually could win at it. Thanks for being the only bank I can use due to crap accounts at banks.

I'm glad that we cardholders get a chance to earn free money but what I don't understand is why those who don't win don't get some type of gift card or something. It's a great way to make someone come back week after week to try the game and a great way to get other cardholders from different companies to want to join. I'm very happy with my card. Not the best. The 12 month wait period on getting cash back is not a good idea. I was with you all for years and left to go to Regions. Came back and left again. There’s not benefit to having your card, more of a hassle.

With Direct Deposit I don't have to go to the bank and wait in line, it's already in my account, awesome! Shopping online to shopping Wal-Mart, anywhere that accepts Visa, you're good to go. I love Green Dot card. Very convenience and easy to load and use. I have recommended this card to friends and family. My direct deposit typically goes in 1 day early so it's nice to have that feature. The only thing that would make this card better is offer a surcharge free ATM feature. Even select atms would be nice.

Was wondering why when I swipe card at restaurant my balance in my account is visible on receipt or on screen at a fast food place? My balance in my account should be for my eyes only. I don't think the public should be able to view my balance I have.

I have enjoyed Green Dot services thus far! It is simple to use, direct deposit is great and comes with a lot of benefits for just using the card! And with that said, I believe there should be a more reactive support team (it gets annoying dealing with the automated voice and does not solve more urgent issues). As well as ALWAYS informing their customers any options they may take regarding their account, even if it's for ensuring the safety of your funding (Since such an issue costed me my previous card to be confiscated which is the reason it gets a 4 and not a 5). But that aside, it has been a dependable bank thus far. At least for my needs at this point in time. If the necessary changes are made, that will convince me and a whole lot of other people to stay with the bank longer.

I feel the membership fee is too high and or you shouldn't charge a fee to have the card if you have direct deposit. I can understand if you don't have direct deposit but I do and don't think it's fair if you load the card you're charged so either way the company makes money. When you call customer service it takes them forever to answer and they can never tell you anything.

It was awesome although the monthly fee was just not working with me. You should waive the fee if it has direct deposit but other than that I loved the card. I loved the free spins but hardly ever won anything over 5 bucks. Overall this card is wonderful and I enjoy the no charge transactions and the deposits instantly. Thanks.

The customer service is horrible. The call wait time so long. And when you finally speak to someone you don't understand them. I have to repeat myself over and over again. And the chat online is never available when I log in. I also wanted to be added to VIP again but I was told because I opt out I cannot opt back in. That does not make sense to me. I was told I would have to get another card... SERIOUSLY!!!

I really like Green Dot but I would love to be able to talk to a person and not a automated service. On the 29th of Sept I received my direct deposit on my card and the same day I lost the card. I was able to talk to a person that day to cancel my card. The person said I would received my new card in 5 to 7 business days and that is fine. But when I called to check my balance on Oct 1st the automated service ask for my card number which is no longer activated because I canceled it, it does not allow me to talk to anyone, it just said, "This card is no longer active" and hangs up. All I really need to know is how much is in my account that is going on my new card that I will receive in 5 to 7 business days.

We live in a small towns and my mom sends money all the time and because her bank is not a franchise, Green Dot would not accept it. I bought a couple cards and I always do to pay my bills. However this time my card kept getting denied saying there was no money when I just put money on a few hours ago. I tried today again. The money is off my cards. I have no way to pay my PG&E. Green Dot says my money is pending and is somewhere in limbo?? So now my three kids and grandbaby is going to have our lights shut off with a reconnect fee whenever they decide to give my money back. Complete bull. So just wondering if you’re going to be buying us candles and a portable stove?? Since our electric stove will also not be working. Yay! Thanks so much Green Dot card!! Still would like to know how this happened and why it’s going to take ten days before I get any money back?! Sharing this experience with everyone so nobody else has to have this kind of stress. P.S. I have been using Green Dot for the past 7 years. I am a Florida resident and just recently lost everything due to Hurricane Irma. I was thankful that I would be getting much needed assistance FEMA to help my 4 children and I get our lives back together after a major disaster. On the day that FEMA deposited the fund to my account I woke up to my card being blocked and someone telling me it will take 3 business days to unblock my card. This is terrible. We are currently living in a hotel that is a 16, 14, 3, and 1 year old with myself in a double bed hotel room. Once this is over I will never use them again. I'm so disappointed in this company because in my time of need is when you failed me. You lost a customer!

I went to Walgreens at the corner and I paid $25 for a card plus the additional two dollars that was marked on the front of the card. When I went to use the card there was only $17.05 on the card. How in the world can this company get away with ripping me off $10. I don't get it. Please explain seeing as to how I can't get a hold of a live person at customer service. Green Dot you are a scam and a joke. Plus I hate how in order to use the card I have to give up all of my personal information, my address, my Social Security number, my telephone number, my email address etcetera etcetera.

Customer rep. was rude, and sounded like a random at home person. Facebook posts were deleted from their page when they were confronted and they are non-responsive. Do not deal with this company!

Bought my Green Dot card at the Walgreens by my house. I loaded $40 onto it and when I got home and tried to register it online it is telling me that my card is invalid. I cannot get ahold of any live customer service representative because of the invalid card. Every time it asks for the info I give it and it gives me no other options and then hangs up on me. Walgreens said there is nothing they can do.

I logged in to the Green Dot website yesterday morning to make sure that my weekly paycheck had been deposited. It wasn't there. After checking with my boss and payroll processing company, I called GD customer service and learned in an automated message that my account had been closed and any funds received would be returned. I had refunds post to the same account less than 12 hours before hearing this message so this was a complete shock. I attempted to reach a live person and was passed around and hung up on.
My paycheck direct deposit which was returned will not be available to me for at least 5 business days per our payroll processor. I am moving out of state in less than a week, have a child that needs to eat and am left with less than twenty bucks until my bounced paycheck is officially accepted by the payroll company and then sent to another account. This is a HORRIBLE business practice. No calls, no emails, no letters, nothing.

My mom gave me a 120.00 MoneyPak yesterday. I tried 10,000 times to load it into my Green Dot card. Every time it says they are not receiving my text to confirm who I am even though I reply "yes" EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have called Green Dot 4 times and got 4 DIFFERENT responses. Nothing worked. I called my phone carrier to make sure the texts are going thru. THEY ARE. So Green Dot has my 120.00, I can't get it from them, I'm completely broke, STARVING, and need help ASAP. I am so upset and sick over this. Green Dot, if you are reading this, please call me at ** IMMEDIATELY. I have also sent emails with the screenshots you requested and got no reply. This has to be illegal. HELP!!!

This card is an absolute joke! I purchased it for $2 and added $20 to start. Once I activated it they automatically took $9.95 leaving me with $10.05. The only reason I purchased this card was to do direct deposits for my new job selling LipSense. When I give them my account number and routing number it tells me the routing number is not supported. After 5 calls, the 1st one with a lady so rude and not listening to what I was saying. The 2nd guy hung up on me. The 3rd and 4th kept me hung up in the computer options because it said it noticed I had called a few times already... No kidding, my problem was not resolved.
My 5th and final call was another rude person that kept telling me to keep trying and that I should do it on a computer not my phone and perhaps it would work. I'm so frustrated that I even spent any money on this card. Money I really didn't have also. I have no other need for this card than what I purchased it for. I think they should refund my money. What a way to take advantage of a single mom struggling to get by. Now I can't start selling Lipsense till I find a way to come up with money I don't have to purchase a card that will work. I will tell everyone I know about the poor customer service.

I have been a Green Dot customer for about 10 years and have been very satisfied until now. I contacted them on Sept. 14th because there was a pending charge on my acct for 998.90 to a place in New York, I live in Idaho. They said that there was nothing that they could do until the transaction was posted. I watched my acct and on Sept 16th it posted so I called them and filled out the paperwork they required. It is now September 28th and they still can't give me any information other than it is being reviewed.

I was given this card as a birthday gift card by my young (and naive, only cause of lacked experience) sons. I think they thought they were buying me a standard gift card you use once and toss out. I called and went online to get some info about the card & fees prior to registering it & I’m not comfortable giving them all my personal info. (ex: SS#, D.O.B., address, etc...) but it’s not possible to speak with a actual human being. It seems this is a card for people who may not be able to get a bank account or credit? I'm not really sure. I don't need this type of assistance since I have all of the above.
I'm noticing the next section of this web page asks for the last 4#s of the card to help locate the account. It won't be located because I NEVER REGISTERED THE CARD. I want to use it once, so not to waste the $100 pooled together by my three young sons who wanted to do something nice for their dad because he wants to make a larger purchase but they can't afford it obviously, so they thought they'd contribute what they could. If anyone or even Greendot themselves, can contact me & assist me with one or two simple questions it would be greatly appreciated or else I'm going to have to toss the card just due to a safety concern with giving one’s personal info in this day and age. Especially to a bank called "Green Dot"!

I purchased a Green Dot prepaid card with a $500 value. I activated the card with no problem. When I went to use it, it said that I had to wait untill I received my original card by mail. A couple days passed and I received a email that said that Green Dot had suspected unusual activity (no clue why). I had to send a picture ID, passport etc... I went ahead and did so. I even called to find out what was the problem and why MY MONEY was being held by them. I just turned over the original card and it is still blocked!!! I can't reach them at all!! This is my money Green Dot!!! You have no right to hold my money! It's illegal to do what Green Dot is doing. I am currently in South America so the only way to be reached is by email.

Well Green Dot has been great, convenient, up until I had to cancel my card and order a new one. Somehow the first time it didn't get here. Then when I reported it not received and ordered a second, it still hasn't arrived. I've waited 15 days for my card and I've checked. Made sure they had the right address. They had no way of tracking it or anything. They just said, "It has been delivered, you should have it and we're no help." I think they messed up the address and their customer service sucks. I've got bills to pay and my money's stuck in an account I can't access!!! Because of them my internet got shut off and my rent is late. Thanks so much Green Dot...

I opened up a Green Dot card recently as I like the fact that you can load money onto it at a convenience store at any time. It just so happened that a day or so after I set up the account I had a refund issued to me for a purchase I originally made almost a year ago with my uncle Walter. I decided to have the money credited to my Green Dot card as I had no immediate plans for the money at the time. I was told that the money has been loaded a couple days later but when I went to access my account it gave me a message that it was blocked pending further review.
After spending 1 HR & 45 MINS on hold waiting for someone, finally a lady picked up and told me that since the original purchase wasn't made with the same card, I looked suspicious and was told to send them a copy of the original receipt to "prove myself". THE PURCHASE WAS ALMOST A YEAR AGO! It took a lot of legwork to get a copy of it from the merchant (I didn't even need it with them to process the return). I sent it in and.... STILL WAITING FOR MY ACCOUNT TO BE UNBLOCKED! I am ready to call the local news to have them look into this if it's not resolved by this afternoon. I feel degraded and robbed of my own money. It's just not right.

The hotel we arrived at had bed bugs so we asked for refund, leaving at 3 am. Now I am stranded with kids because The hotel had to refund me on my debit card because they had already drop their cash in the drop box which cause Green Dot to block my account where I get direct deposit from work and I am out of town for my mother's lung surgery with my kids. We have no access to money for food or gas or anything so instead of worrying and taking care of my mom I have to worry about us as well and Green Dot doesn't care at all.
I send a receipt they two business days to review. You can't call anyone and even though you leave a number, they do not call you. If you call you get a recording telling you to wait two days. Then two days later still blocked, you finally get through to hold for 40 minutes to find out they couldn't see everything and need you to resend a bigger copy and it's going to take another two business days but since today is Friday Morning it won't be until next week so no gas to make the seven hour trip home, no way to leave your mom straight from surgery, no food money for your kids and no Empathy shown that 1500 of your money is in the fate of Green Dot's hands!

I lost my Green Dot card and ordered a new one that was supposed to arrive on the 12th of this month. It never did arrive and I had to leave town for work. I ordered a new card and as it's been about a month since I could use the card, really need it but now they want me to wait for the card and when I get it send my ID and wait two more business days. They have overseas call centers and very poorly trained people that tell you "sorry for the inconvenience" but really do nothing to help you. If you can I would avoid Green Dot at all cost.

We purchased a Green Dot prepaid Visa card for our daughter... We are being charged the monthly fee. Also, has effected out credit! There is no phone number to speak to a live person and we never received our permanent card. It's been months! This company willfully evades its customers but is willing to take their money. This not the only similar complaint! DO NOT EVER AND I MEAN EVER PURCHASE ONE OF THESE CARDS FROM GREEN DOT!
Our daughter is 10 years old. We only wanted this so she can buy apps and such and learn some financial responsibility early. MISTAKE!!! Of course only gave my social. This company in my opinion is a fraud and only cares about their bottom line. I have turned this over to our family attorney to file suit! And yes he is a heavy-hitter in Newport Beach, let them figure out who it is!!! We have been taken advantage of and our personal info used incorrectly. This company will not give you a direct line to contact a live person, try finding it yourself if you do not believe me. I'm also having the district attorney look into this as well.
Again, DO NOT BUY THIS CARD OR DO BUSINESS WITH GREEN DOT PREPAID CARD COMPANY, they only want your money with zero effort to help you or listen to you, they go above and beyond to physically stand clear of their customer base. My belief is that most of their good reviews are centralized within their own company! Again I highlight, stay far far away from Green Dot Prepaid visa cards or any other financial service they provide!!! Astonishing stores still sell them to the public! Again I'm not the only one who feels this way!

When I called to set up my card I spoke with a man who was rude and seemed impatient. I told him I was having trouble doing it through their automated system because it couldn't hear me, he "helped me" and put my all of my information in including my social. He told me the setup wasn't working because my information didn't match, I told him that was impossible. He went through and asked me all the questions and repeated my answers to me but had my social number WRONG. I told him this and he got frustrated with me didn't say anything got quiet then said he would send my information off so we can proceed with the setup of my card.
They sent me to yet another automated voice message saying my card could only be ran as nondebit and that I could only use it to swipe in store. I don't have a pin or anything for it and that's very inconvenient for me, I tried to contact customer service MULTIPLE times only to be told my SOCIAL doesn't match my card and to be hung up on. I can't even reach customer service anymore and I can't contact a person. So moral to the story is DON'T BUY A GREEN CARD they're terrible.

Recently they have decided not to allow customers to deposit funds to GTL accounts (the inmate phone service provider). It is bs that a company that charges $7.95 a month can tell me where I can and can't spend MY money! Will switch to Transact for my future needs.

I called and initiated a transaction dispute over the phone. They advised to email the dispute form and to allow 48 hours for a decision. Welp, it's now been three weeks and I've called several times. It's annoying that everyone here barely speaks English!!! Like where is this call center located??! Obviously not in the United States. After three weeks, and several calls. I've now been advised to allow 45 days!!! Two reps said my email was received and one other said it was not. I've only gotten the run around on my dispute. I WANT MY MONEY BACK! I'm so over this company and I'm canceling my card ASAP! Everybody tells you something different on every call.

1 star only because I have to pick one... Actually they don't even deserve 1 star! So normally I use my personal debit card but due to having replacement card mailed out - I needed a debit card to pay a bill online. So I purchased a Green Dot card. Loaded the money and paid a 4.95 fee at the time of load. Use the card temp card. Wouldn't go thru. So I called customer service... Lord no help at all! So I ended up going to buy American Express Serve... Which BTW is the absolute best prepaid card I've yet to encounter.
Well due to not being able to pay my online bill I ended up using the card elsewhere. Made a small purchase. Checked my account online and was immediately hit with Monthly service charge. Are you serious? I just paid fee not even 24 hrs before when I purchased the card. And y'all turn around and hit me for another 8.00 fee. Called customer service... Again NOOOO help. Nope not again - will stick to Amex Serve. Free loads. Cards ready to use asap. Purchased no extra BS! I can't believe Green Dot has been in business since 1999. Ha what a joke this place is!

I have tried several times to connect to the Green Dot document upload. And it's like they blocked me b/c I can't even get to a login in site. I just want my money that was and is being returned to me b/c I called the companies that changed my account unlawfully... But Green Dot treats me like I'm a thief trying to steal my own money.

So I have been with Green Dot for the past 5 years (Steve Harvey just told me) and in the past year I had my card lost and someone used it for over $4,000.00 on Apple iTunes. Talked to Apple. They had me request a chargeback from Green Dot so I contacted Green Dot and started an investigation. They told me they wouldn't do it because 6 months prior I had made a purchase at that merchant. They did cancel that card and issued a new one so that the people Couldnt continue to use it anymore.
Most recently I used their photo check deposit to deposit a check. They told me that Certegy the place they use to grant permission had declined it and gave me their info to find out they wouldn't approve it. I contacted Certegy and they said that it was approved. I contacted Green Dot customer service and was rudely told that it was denied and that I should go ask for another check from my employer. Worst customer service I have ever had and they will not support you if unfortunate circumstances happen.

Cellular check deposit service is a joke. Was notified that my check was unable to be deposited and then went to local bank to cash the check suddenly the check was being processed and would take a few more business days to be deposited. Had my account hacked and was told I had to cancel my card, was charged for a new card. Unable to withdraw money from my account via ATM on numerous occasions. Had holds placed on my account for activity they deemed uncharacteristic when I tried using my card at a gas station a few blocks from my house but when someone ordered car parts from Ireland and purchased Itunes accessories in California on the same day they didn't bat an eye. The fees that are supposed to be waived sometimes are not. And customer service is horrible. You wait on hold only to be told that they are sorry but that they can not help you. Avoid at all costs!

I unfortunately was stupid enough to buy this card. Purchase fee, activation fee, only to be told it cannot be used over the phone or online. Only in person, you know like that thing called cash. Support is unhelpful and unprofessional. They refuse to let you speak with a manager or supervisor and claim that there is only 1 then the person you're talking to. Total crap. It's a scam. MyVanilla, or a Serve card is the way to go. Skip Green Dot, and skip the headache and money. JUST USE CASH!

I bought it last night in Walmart. I put $120 on the card so I could pay my phone, turn out the card doesn't work at all. When I call customer service the machine gives me the runaround, called their corporate store as well only to be brought back to the same machine. When the machine ask for my 16-digit card number and expiry date I enter it, the machine tells me the card doesn't exist. I'm already contacting lawyers. I plan to SUE them to the full extent of the law. I do have the receipt and will show it to the lawyers.

My husband and I have had a Green Dot card for years with no complaints. The fees, while pricey, are understandable. It's the cost of doing business, and we accept that. However, we've had an issue that we cannot get help with at all, and this is going to cause us to close this account. On September 2, we discovered three fraudulent charges on our Green Dot account totaling $155. Those charges were made at two different Walmart stores in the Portland Oregon area; we live in Iowa. Neither one of us has ever been to Oregon and we don't shop at Walmart. As soon as we found out, we called Green Dot. Instead of helping us with the steps to take to dispute the charges, the first question was "Are you sure you've never been to Oregon?" We knew then that this would be trouble.
The representative eventually told us where to find the dispute forms on their website. We printed them off and sent them in via email on the same day - September 2. We canceled the cards and were issued new cards, which came promptly. The representative told us that it would be 7 business days before we would get an update on the dispute and the funds would be back in our account. We received an email from Green Dot stating that they got our email with the dispute forms and we got a case number. We figured this would be easy. It's only $155 and it's clear we've never been to Oregon, right? WRONG. We waited the allotted seven business days. No response from Green Dot. On September 14, my husband called to get a status update. The representative said we would be getting a call from the "dispute department" the next day with an update and when we could expect the funds. There was no call.
On September 15, my husband called back. The person we spoke with was obviously reading from a screen, and badly. He (I think it was a he) slurred his words, had trouble explaining what he was reading, and didn't do or say anything to help us with this issue. When my husband asked to be transferred to the department handling the dispute, he slurred his words some more and said that he couldn't do that. So, we ended the call.
Now we don't know what to do next. I know it's only $150. It's not a lot of money. But it is a lot of money to us, and we are on a very tight budget. We NEED our money back. We didn't make these charges. We have proven that we haven't. Why is Green Dot dragging their feet about getting us our money back? As soon as we can, we are closing this card and looking for an alternative to use for banking. What was once an easy way to pay bills and use funds has become a hindrance. I hope someone from Green Dot reads this and actually helps us with this issue.

This matter has been resolved to my satisfaction. This case is now closed. I would advise the company in the future to better train their staff. No one should EVER be told if they want their money to take it up with the vendor essentially. I mean I had NEVER even heard of those people, needless to say I didn't even know why my card was charged to begin with. Yet, I'm supposed to take the matter up with that person? What a truly stupid comment/suggestion. They need better training in both communication AND in understanding the product is it relates to debits, credits, and chargebacks apparently. Silly girl.

Someone made a charge against my card and my card was debited. As soon as I discovered this event, I alerted Green Dot. They, in turn, terminated that card and sent me out another one. In order to get my money back though, she said I had to file a claim and she proceeded to explain the process to me. Well, I didn't make the charge so I filed a dispute claim. It was investigated and my account was credited the amount of money it was debited for($107.** and some change).
Well, lo and behold the vendor insisted the charge was valid and thus my account was again debited the same amount. I called Green Dot and the ignorant girl told me in order for me to get my money back, I had to contact the vendor and discuss the matter with them/him/her! Excuse me?! When is it the customer's responsibility to prove a charge is valid? And, what happened to make them side in my favor and then go against me?
I've already contacted the BBB and I plan on alerting every single authority I can think of. This is some ** and I am NOT happy. They even had the nerve to send me a letter explaining that the matter was sided in my favor, yet they again debited my account. It's akin to theft and Green Dot is right in the middle of it helping people to rip off customers. As soon as I locate another way to pay my insignificant bills every month, I'm dumping their a//es anyway.

Have had Green Dot for almost a year. I never had any issues. I woke up this morning to go pick up my daughter's birthday cake to find out my card was declined. I checked my card balance through the Green Dot app to find my card has been blocked due to suspicious activity. It says to go to greendot.com/docupload. When I go to the site it prompts me to enter my 16 digit card number. When I enter my card number it says card number not found. I have been trying to go ahold of a REAL PERSON to help me with this. I HAVE ZERO MONEY. It is all on the card. I am done with Green Dot and their bad customer service.

In response to my problem, Green-Dot Visa refunded me my $500.00 dollars after getting help from a Walmart Money Clerk. The Clerk was able to get a human to respond to my problem and I received my 500.00 check in the mail 2 weeks later.

So I have been with Green for a while and everything was fine until I lost my card and wanted a replacement... Received the replacement only to find out it was blocked. I followed all the procedures and gave them what they asked for which was a picture ID. Somehow they got it in their heads that my card had fraudulent activity on it and they have decided to close my account. Meanwhile my direct deposit from my job is set on the account... What I don't understand how do you know if someone made a purchase without consulting with them first. Smh. I'm out of money. My children need things and my paycheck is in wonderland. I have bills to pay and I feel totally screwed. Shame on you Green Dot. You lost this customer.

I noticed money missing from my account on 9/1/2017. I notified them on 9/2/2017 the following morning, the woman was very rude and standoffish and informed me the charges hadn't posted. She didn't even dispute the charges, contact the stores or even alert anybody that they needed to be disputed, instead charged me $5 for a lost card fee. The charges posted on the 3rd and 4th, I am still waiting for resolution. This is terrible. Although I will say the man I dealt with the following week was much more pleasant.

I have a Green Dot card through Walmart and my mother was sending me some money when I came up short on my paycheck. Anyways, the MoneyPak card was no good and I had to submit the receipt information to get help. A 4 day response time via email? Ridiculous. Tried calling the support number. Not surprised it hangs up immediately. I tried calling Green Dot support as well and got nowhere past the automated system. I don't recommend this product to anyone! I am still waiting on my money or ANY sort of response from the company. I had no money 5 days ago to feed my child due to their card being useless.

Started with a $100 account from CVS. Did one transaction and gets disabled because of suspicious activity. E-mailed them my ID with no success. Mobile verification was a bust as well (Verizon). Contacted customer service for help. All automated during their working hours with no option to speak with a representative. I gave up and they closed my account. I wanted to get what money is left on the card ($50+). It ask me to call the same automated number. This unacceptable for a bank to work like this. I heard very positive things about this bank. But, I was duped. I hope sharing my experience will help people think twice about this Bank. Do not put your hard earn money with people that, you cannot even speak to. Thank God, I did not do direct deposit. No wonder PayPal is not using you guys now.

My card got blocked Saturday 9/3/17. It is still blocked as of 9/8/17. I called and can never get a live person. I sent an email to verifydocs@greendot and have heard nothing back. I was told to send docs to that email, but was never told what documents I needed to send. I was also told that Green Dot will call me back once receiving the documents (again what documents?). Also the phone number that is listed in my account is an old one. I never updated it, and again-cannot reach a live representative to give Green Dot my current phone number. So if Green Dot is trying to call my old number, they are not going to be able to reach me. My paycheck went in there, there is over $1,000 that Green Dot is holding and not allowing me access to. I have a family I need to feed, I have bills I need to pay. GREEN DOT IS TERRIBLE!

I have lost too much money with this company. They will not investigate and return my money from a previous transaction dispute emailed on 4-2017. Now I have more from 9/4/2017. They have left me with no other option. I will have to close my account. This company along with their Customer Service needs improvement! They need to start caring about peoples hard earned money. They are not returning it when people steal it or it may be their mistakes in the computer system. Every time I have Transaction disputes, they start out with some charge at a motel. Then that charge disappears and they start making all kinds of purchases from retail stores in other states.
I have legal advisers in my family and it is sad that I may have to take action. It is very disappointing when you go to purchase necessities and you are declined because someone has used all of your money. In the past prior to 4-2017 it took them weeks to return money back to my account. Also to send me a new card was a long wait. Please consider that a lot of people only have their checking accounts to survive this cruel world. Thanks for your time and concerns. Hopefully you will consider more training for your customer service and upper management will look into complaints and follow up. I would also like to apologize and tell the innocent customer service representatives, "I am sorry" because they take a lot of abuse.

Last Sunday I logged in to my account and found out a hold had been placed on the card. I call Green Dot and was told there was possible fraudulent activity on the card and I needed to send a copy of my id to verifymydocs@greendot.com. I was told at that time I would hear something back within 24 hours from Green Dot. So I did that on Sunday and received an email to verify it was received. I waited until Tuesday COB since I figured Monday was a holiday and tried to call. I just kept getting the recording that I have called multiple times on the same card and that the hold was still on and that nothing had changed. I tried several time Tuesday and Wednesday calling just to get the same recording.
I finally tried Wednesday around 6 and was put through to a live person. This person did not see that my id was even received. He forwarded me on to some at corporate who asked me to send him the same email I sent on Sunday and he would forward it on the correct department and would do his best to expedite it. I would hear something back by COB Thursday. Here it is, COB Thursday, and I have not heard from anyone, I can't call in and ask anyone because I am getting the same recording as before. My direct deposit of my paycheck is to be sent tomorrow morning and I have been told that if the hold is still on the card, the deposit will be returned. If that is the case, my company has told me that I would have to wait until my next paycheck to get the check reissued. I have bills that are set to be paid by this card and need someone at Green Dot to be able to tell me what is going on?
I have been a card holder and have had my paycheck deposited on the card for the last 3 to 4 years. The fact that I have to play this game to get someone to remove the hold or at least tell me what the fraudulent activity was and reissue a new card to me is beyond crazy. Need someone from Green Dot to help me and tell me why this is taking so long.

Don't ever get a Green Dot card. Poor Verification Process. New to irregular activity it can be the same activity as you had before and they'll still call it irregular and put a block on it and then rather than verifying identity like everything else has done for a hundred years by using your social security number you take a picture of your ID, email it across the country for a computer to look at and depict if that's you or not, which it declines of course, so then the block is left on your account locking your funds from you and says you will not be able to have any access to your money and can't not create another account with this company... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!???

Hi, I'm sad to say that Green Dot Corp is not a business that values its customers or their business. I’m a 38 single mother of 5 who works fulltime at a nursing home caring for the elderly and disabled. Regretfully I set up my direct deposit with Green Dot. Unfortunately I became ill around the 21 of August 2017 and had to be hospitalized. My condition at the time was 50/50 so my doctors called my family to come be with me. I knew I had a paycheck coming on the 25th and I'd be able to send for my mother. On the 23 I'd had another seizure and the stress of it all clouded my mind and I'd forgot I had a check. On the 26 my dad arrived from MS and as he and my sibling were trying to figure out how mom would get to TN, I remembered I got paid on the 25.
My dad left that evening, went to my home to get my debit card only find out my house had been burglarized. Along with my electronics and food, my check book was missing as well. Sad to say that was where I’d keep my Green Dot card. As soon as I found out I called Green Dot. Days later as my condition began to get better, I called to see why hadn't anyone contacted me. The representative doubtly instructed me on what they needed. As I placed my phone on record and speaker so my family could hear, I go on to explain that I was in the hospital, didn't know where my card had been stolen or even when it had been stolen. 3 to 4 times I had to repeat this because the rep kept asking for information I did not have or had access to because I was in the hospital.
My sister and coworker decided they would go to the job, use the computer, get the information and email it to them as well as a statement from my doctor. I haven't heard a word. Now I’m just lost… Stolen money, hungry children, past due bills and rent, and sickly... MY GOD... As I type this I’m in tears wondering why and how. Not to mention this is the second time I’ve lost money with Green Dot and they refuse to give it back because "The same number activated my card was used to call the card in stolen" CROOKS. If you’re able please refrain from giving your money to these crooks. Go to a bank where if ever you are a victim of identity theft as I am at lease your money will be insured.

I have had a couple of instances of fraud that I've reported and the method in which it's been handled has been poor at best. They take the maximum allowable time to return your money to your account and will provide no information as to the status of a claim.

Received a Green Dot card as a gift card, I believe the person that bought it for me did not understand what it was (I also was confused as to what it was). I was very confused when I had to set it up with all my personal info. I spend around 85 of the 100 that was on it. I log into my account to check the balance months later to find that a fee has been charged every month. This is a joke. It now says my account is in the negative. This was a gift to me and now I owe Green Dot.
This company is very misleading, better read all the fine print. I have requested to cancel this card immediately. It's very sad that a company is able to rob you so easily. I am not very familiar with reloadable cards so I didn't realize that this is what I was given. While I don't consider myself in poverty, this company is another example of how the poor get poorer. How do you charge a fee of 7.95 a month?
They should be more honest with the fees you are charged monthly. Please explain that if you load 100 onto a card it will cost you 2.95 to set the card up and then 7.95 to use it each month. Poof 100 turns into 89.10 oh and, "You better use it immediately upon set up or we will charge you 7.95 each month." You thought this was a gift card, "Sorry please pay the negative amount on the account and have a good day." I will tell anyone and everyone to stay away from this company. They are a complete farce. I feel for those who don't have another option. If I could give no stars that would be appropriate but one gets the point across.

Purchased a $500.00 Pre-Paid Visa at Walgreens. Attempted to activate when returned home and was told "Invalid Card Number". Essentially my $500 cash went into a black hole. Green Dot support was horrible. After completing my case they tell me I will receive check for $500 in 2 weeks. Unbelievable. You have been warned. Do not buy.

I am not going to give Green Dot any stars. I absolutely hate Green Dot. I just had surgery and I'm currently on bed rest. I purchased a cash back my rewards debit card 3 days ago to pay a quick bill. I went online to activate the card and I got a prompt saying that I have exceeded the daily attempts to activate the card. Mind you that was my first and only attempt so it said to try again in 24 hours so I waited 24 hours and tried again. I got the same message again so I waited another 24 hours and got the same message again so I called the number on the back of the card and they tell me there's nothing they can do. I have to continue trying to activate it online or go to Gethuman which charges you $25 to activate your card.
I am low on funds and my workers comp hasn't kicked in yet so I'm SOL For My money to pay my bill. I hate Green Dot and will never purchase this card again. I was forced to pay it because the local store near me ran out of the Western Union cards I usually buy and this was all they had in the entire store and I couldn't travel any farther to get another card due to my surgery.

I feel that moving the fee amount was kind of wrong to do. And the fact that you charge it even when the card is not being used is not ok. It puts people in the negative. And when the amount is deducted. Unless account is checked every day we don't notice and adding money is a set back if in the negative.

I received my Green Dot Cash Back Visa and I only get a portion of my paycheck direct deposited on this card. I went to withdraw $20 from the ATM and was charged an ATM fee of $2.50 although on Green Dot website it states I can use Money Pass ATM's with no surcharge. I called customer service, spoke with Kim and she told me because I signed up for this card online, I will be charged ATM fees. But I needed an explanation as to how Green Dot website says they use Money Pass ATMs but the difference between which Green Dot card can be used at a Money Pass. So I will be canceling my card with Green Dot because don't advertise I can use an ATM for free then turn around and say because of the type of card I will get charged a fee no matter what ATM I use. So if there is ever a class action suit against Green Dot for false advertising sign me up please.

I have Green Dot thru Walmart where my check is deposited and last week they allowed a charge for a little over 1200.00 to post to my account. I have called them several times and have been given the runaround and not a direct answer when I asked them about the fact that if this is a prepaid card, how are they allowing charges to come thru anyway. Then I have been yelled at and told that it is a debit card and charges can go thru if the merchant chooses to push it thru. Well as a consumer, I chose this card carefully and it has put me so far behind whereas my entire check was gone and it still left an overdraft balance that I was then told by 1 of the reps that I needed to take care of.
Walmart does not want to help where as they say Green Dot is the card holder and Green Dot is telling me that I have to wait 10 business days so I have bills behind and no food for my children. I just don't understand how a prepaid card is treated as such and then I even asked to speak to a manager and was passed from person every time I called.

I've been using my Green Dot prepaid card for over 2 years now in purchasing whatever I need, paying my bills, and buying groceries. It wasn't until Saturday 26, 2017 I checked my account which said I had $39.49. What I ordered only cost me $10.80. Trying to make a order online, everything seemed to be going fine, gave my name, my address, e-mail address, phone number, the state I live in, and of course the card information. Next thing I know I'm seeing a call from the destination I made an order from saying that the card kept declining, and that they attempted to try the info. I provided more than once. So I gets on the phone with Customer Service for Green Dot, I got a weak apology and they informed me that there is nothing wrong with my card.
I even told them to check and make sure my card was not cancelled for any reason, they said it wasn't. They told me that they would do an investigation to figure out why this happened. Next day I'm checking on my balance on the Green Dot app I have on my Android phone and it says that my balance is now $0.00, but yet when I called the Customer Service line and got my total, it verified that I still had $39.49, so which is it; I mean I have to live off this card, and yet stuff like this is happening, When I called that second time to ask them to check and make sure my card was not cancelled they also informed me that it would take 24 hours for them to investigate the problem, and they would e-mail me.
It has been 24 hours since Saturday I brought this to their attention and I have yet to hear back from them. I'm not the type of person that would sue this company, because they do get a lot of great reviews, but if they do not fix this error I may have to take my business and money some place else, because this is not the way you do business. I think the way they go about the script in how they say they are sorry for the inconvenience that the glitch may have caused, it just seems uncaring. If you really mean the words "Sorry" do something about it and be "Real about it".

I love my Green Dot card! It helps me to save money. My paycheck is direct deposit and I get it two days early! There is no overdraft fee because it won't allow to go over your amount. You can use it anywhere and I have mine on my cellphone so I can check my balance at any time!

I bought a Green Dot card to pay my credit card bill that was coming up after losing my wallet over the weekend and didn't want my payment to be late. So I added money to it and paid my credit card bill. Two days later I get an email stating that my payment has been returned because the account I used (Green Dot) had been closed!!! So I called green dot and a very rude lady begins to tell me that I need to submit my I.D which I did, 6 times, each clear as day and visible but their system kept rejecting it. So I called back and the lady basically told me there was nothing else they could do and I was out the money I applied to Green Dot!!! Let me remind you, I used my card ONE time and they "froze" my account (not closed like they told Capital One) after for "fraud protection and abnormal activity"... After one use!!! It seems more like a scam if anything.

My GreenDot card has been blocked for several months. I uploaded my driver's license and then they said that, "Oh well you cannot open up another card with greendot." However every month they charge my card for the monthly maintenance fee of $7.95 since my card was blocked on 3/11/2017. Now that's $47.70 that's been stolen from me because they would not allow me to use my balance but they are constantly charging me maintenance fees. I've demanded a refund of the $47.70 and I can't even get an agent on the phone. This is horrible and should be illegal in this country. I don't care about the amount I want to take legal action. This has to stop.

I opened a claim and I just got done calling and I was about to head over to an item to get cash with the card it says that I got a DISPUTE CREDIT REVERSAL right after I got my credit like 5 mins later. Very upset they took away my money. Now I have to wait even more time for them to review why I even got the DISPUTE CREDIT REVERSAL. The person said it says the dispute has been granted and he was even confused to why my card got the money taken out. I got the money 5 mins later it's gone! I am so upset!

I'm submitting this on behalf of a family member, but we have used the Green Dot money card to easily transfer money to one another and recently the option to send money to a friend has been removed from the app and the website. That was one of the perks of using the card, aside from receiving any direct deposits a few days early (but our credit union does the same thing). WHERE is the option? Tie that into the fact that he can't find his card and money was just loaded onto it yesterday, makes this a much bigger issue because now he has no access to his funds and he can't transfer the funds on his card to mine so that he can get his funds.

They said suspicious activity. I'm sure I'm not the first for this to happen to. They said I needed to show my DL to prove who I am. I lost my wallet. It's been 3 weeks and their still holding my money hostage. I was supposed to get a call from customer service. Never happened.

God forbid you are in a similar situation as I am where you can't receive mail/correspondence at your physical address. I live on the island of Kauai and confirmed with 2 postmasters at 2 different post offices in my area, USPS policy in my area since there is not enough staff they do not deliver to any street address. Mail can only be received through a P.O. Box and if mail is addressed for a street address it is returned to sender. Green Dot's policy however cannot send mail or your personalized card to a P.O. Box. It has to be physical address, the complete opposite of what mail availability is provided for me by USPS. I've spoken and explained to two different customer service reps, Mia and Rose, about this conflicting mail problem, and none of them would budge to accommodate.
I would also like to point out that both of them so happenly did not have a supervisor available when I demanded to speak to one. They supposedly record their phone calls and I called them on Aug 21 at 9:20 am and 7:45 pm if someone can verify those conversations. Again, I am dissatisfied with Green Dot and their crappy customer service on how they handled my case. I have two conflicting policies by USPS and by Green Dot that prevents me from receiving any correspondence/mail from Green Dot. Apparently FedEx or UPS is not even available to question either. I just do not understand how Green Dot expects to do business with me or anyone in my neighborhood if we can't get their product in the mail. I understand my situation doesn't affect everyone USA wide. But if you are in a small town or island in the similar restricted mail availability as I am, you might have to rethink using this debit card service.

This is my second Green Dot card, my first one was compromise, hackers got in and wipe out my account using the Send Money feature, which I never used in the 5 years that I've had my card. I think this all could have been avoided if there was a built-in system that if you use the send money feature a text message/phone call would be sent to you so you could authorize the transaction or deny it. Hope this helps.

After spending hours, I found an address for them and wrote them our problem, sending pictures. About a week and half later we received a check in full for the Money Pak. Granted we missed the deal we were going to use it for but at least they were great and sent us a check. Thank you Green Dot. For that I'd give you 5 stars but the fact you do not have a phone number that we could get a hold of you and that I spent so much time finding your address still makes me mad.

Bought a Moneypak card at Walgreens for $100. To activate you have to scratch the number off. It was impossible to get the number (card got rubbed down to white). Without the number you can't get through to Green Dot. Actually, there is NO way to talk to a person at Green Dot, nor is there an email or any other way to get a hold of them. Everything is automated. Buying the card at Walgreens, they did NOT ask for any identification (name, address, SSN, etc) so there is no way for Green Dot to look this up. Calling Walgreen's has not helped. This Just sucks! And I Have no order number except for the 2 receipts I got from Walgreen's.

I bought a 20.00 prepaid credit card at CVS then had to pay 2.95 to activate and then took 20 minutes to register the card including all types of personal information including social security number. Then at end of call it says you have to pay 7.95 fee for first transaction. What a joke!!!

My spouse and I have been using Green Dot for several years. We have enjoyed the convenience and intuitiveness. But just recently Green Dot have removed the "Send a Friend" money option on the app and mobile website. This a feature we used quite often, it has been a real benefit to us. I believe you can still use the feature on the desktop, but we do not use a desktop. Who really needs one nowadays? Because of this poor decision by Green Dot we are seriously considering moving our finances to another company. Perhaps it was removed by mistake, it's hard to know. Because trying to get a solid answer out of any company these days, is near impossible.

In May 2017 I purchased 75.00 diesel in Savannah Ga, at Circle K and again in June. They immediately deducted the money. August 16 2017, you let circle k deduct same 75.00 again twice that day, not picking up on it, or contacting me. You give my money away. Now I gotta go through all these steps to get my money back cause you didn't stop the transaction.
I've been a loyal customer for years, not anymore and I'm telling all my friends and coworkers of your misjudgment, then your associate whom I couldn't understand hangs up phone on me, very professional. Right. Worst prepaid company, Green Dot in my book, worst customer service, cannot speak English. Does not protect users money, freely gives it away, once in May once in June, same transactions two months later twice same day, no-one picked up on it, sorry group of people, associate worst I've seen or talked to, very disrespectful. Gave 1 star. Wouldn't let me submit with half star, Worst prepaid company.

I have used a Green Dot reloadable MasterCard for my direct deposit and purchases for the last two years. When I searched for reviews, there were far more positive reviews than negative when entering the basic key words "Green Dot reviews" so I decided to go with their card. The claims of getting your paycheck up to 2 days faster were in fact, accurate. Mine came a day before. I did not have issues with making purchases brick and mortar or online. All was good. UNTIL... I filed a dispute regarding a charge on my card. I contacted the company the charge originated from and they could only help me to a certain point. They told me to contact my cardholder, file a claim and they would credit them back; resulting in my money being returned. That is what I did. I filed the "dispute" online with Green Dot via their provided form. I checked the appropriate box and completed the section asking for specific information.
Key point; at NO time did I report my card lost or stolen. I received a notification of receipt of the dispute form with a claim # and letting me know that it would be 7 to 10 business days for a decision. In the meantime, I received the various "offers and deals" emails they send regularly. On EXACTLY day 7 of their noted review time, I stopped to get gas on my way home from work. I commute so I was about 30 miles from home. I had checked the balance in the morning and all was good so to my surprise, my card was declined. I knew this was not right but the gas station attendant couldn't do anything about it so I paid in cash (luckily I only put $10 in and had exactly that amount with me). I went back to my car and called the Customer Service number on my card. WHAT A JOKE! The first automated message was that they had "good news about my claim" and I would be contacted regarding that "good news".
From there, I go through the standard entering of information. Last 4 of card and SS #. I get the foreign representative who asks what my issue is and I explain what I dealt with at the gas station. He informs me that my account is "BLOCKED" because it was reported "lost or stolen." Remember my key point above? I go through the entire story of the dispute and ask him to unblock my card.
Long story short, he "can't" and I am transferred to a "supervisor." Again foreign. So when she asked me for my entire card # and entire SS # I would not give it to her as she should be able to find me based on the info I give when using the automated system AND the entry level CSR. She was rude and would not let go of trying to get that info. So I hung up on her and called back. Same initial scenario as above; transferred to "supervisor" and guess what? This one didn't need ANY numbers! Gave me the same runaround but said a new card was being mailed to me and I'd have it in "7 to 10 business days." I had to run into work the following morning and have my boss retract the Direct Deposit file from the bank and put a hold on mine; paying me by check. Thankfully we are small and she is nice!
So fast forward and YAY! I got the card in the mail last night. Follow the instructions to activate it and guess what? THAT ONE IS BLOCKED TOO! I could not get through to a CSR because per the recording "they have no further information." My option was to upload a picture I.D. Tried that. Link will not even let you get past entering your card number as it will jumble the numbers and misplace them. So I call again today.
This time using the Corporate number I found researching "how to get a live CSR" and pressing a number that seemed like I would get "live" interaction. Indeed I did. Explained from start to current, the issues. Her answer? There was "suspicious activity" on the account so it has been blocked for "security purposes." HOW CAN A CARD THAT HAS NOT BEEN ACTIVATED LET ALONE OPENED FROM THE ENVELOPE, HAVE SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY?!! I demand a supervisor again, get an English speaking one who is of the same help as the rest. "Upload the photo and we can help you. Can't upload it? Send it by mail." But they don't take photo copies so that would have led me back to square one 2 weeks later. She claims there is "NOTHING" she or anyone else in that "company" can do without the upload. Seriously? No "legitimate" company runs like that. Especially a "bank."
They will not give me my money back even after I tried various options that seemed very logical in this situation. So many questions and suspicions; If my card was lost or stolen initially, why wouldn't they have placed the hold on the card right then and there? Why 7 days later, allowing the "thief" to drain my entire account while it was under review? And why the hold after the dispute went in my favor? They had to have matched the story to the company's to receive the credit back. WHY WASN'T I NOTIFIED OF THE HOLD??? THEY FILL MY EMAIL WITH OTHER JUNK! They were able to send me confirmation of my dispute! If my wallet was stolen and the "thief" had access to all of my information I was forced to provide (B-day, SS #, etc). what good is asking for an upload of my I.D.??? That would be in there too!!!
Unfortunately, after researching this and typing in specific review information, I find the hundreds of thousands of stories exactly like mine! WHY ISN'T SOMETHING BEING DONE ABOUT THIS!?? This is theft and consumer fraud! Luckily mine was a minimal amount in comparison to some of the other reviews I have read. But I am a single mother with expenses that strap me and every little bit counts towards something. They are not acting under the policies and regulations a regular bank does, so DO NOT LET THE KEY WORDS "FDIC INSURED" and "MASTERCARD/VISA" draw you in. Remember, it took 2 years of using my card for this to happen and for me to fall victim to their thievery.
I plan to file this complaint with every agency I can and look into a media avenue to report on this. I will report this daily to them and log the interaction. They are taking advantage of elderly and disabled people as well and stealing their SS checks. They are intercepting tax returns and placing holds on cards without notifying ANYONE! Making it impossible to retrieve YOUR money. Disgusting!

It is nice to have to pay for my Hulu. It's good way to build up credit. It's good to know how much you can put on your card. You can use it for anything. I really enjoy your commercials, they are really fun. Sometimes I use this card to buy groceries or even something for my children.

My experience with this prepaid was wild from start to finish. First, the card has a fee of about $1 upon purchasing the card -- not bad, right? But what it doesn't tell you is that, after your first purchase or first month of having the card in whatever comes first, they charge $7.95 from the card. All in all, one month's usage costs you almost $9 -- many, many prepaid cards without monthly fees, or fees at all beyond purchasing the card, are cheaper. (My personal recommendation would be the MyVanilla Prepaid Card, it has an initial purchase fee of $4, and that's all the fee you get. I would have bought from them again had the store carried those particular cards.)
Now, okay, you might want to buy a prepaid card that costs nearly 8 dollars per month to use. Logically, and from my experience with other prepaid cards, they'll take what you have. So if you were to do what I did, and buy something that was $14 on a prepaid with 20 dollars, it wouldn't subtract the full $7.95 because you don't have it; they'd take what you had left without over drafting you. But, of course, given I'm leaving a 1-star review, this was not the case.
The card actually set me up to overdraft, funnily enough. You'll see in my picture that the fee takes priority, even though that 1. goes against what the card says (first fee or first month) and 2. it happens a day after my actual first transaction. I had the money to pay for my item and then some, but the fee decided to loop around and become my first transaction on the card, leaving me with not quite enough money to buy my actual item.
As extra salt in the wound, I cannot reload to the maximum of $4 to pay off this overdraft, because I'm underage... you would hope that maybe they wouldn't let the order go through at all, since a minor over drafting quite literally cannot pay the difference, but this is why I'm leaving a 1-star review, remember? Thankfully I am able to cancel the order that put me under and use the $12 I'm left with after the fee decided to cut in line, but I would have waited on buying a prepaid had I known the above. You can close the card so it doesn't overdraft you with the monthly fee; it's located on their site. I will give them kudos that their site is easy to navigate and that they are at least honest about what actually happened first. Seriously, there are better prepaids out there. Do yourself a favor in not buying this card.

Green Dot is very convenient. My paycheck is deposited weekly onto my card. I can pay bills automatically. Some ATMs I can use w/out a fee. Most of my experiences have been positive. However I don't believe I received the $25 as promised for having my fed income taxes deposited onto my card??

I have been a Green Dot customer for at least 8 years and I must admit that any issues I may have, for the most part, have been addressed in a timely and efficient manner without much fuss. However, if I had one complaint, it would be that I would really like a more 'fluid' means of transferring funds and doing automatic bill pays. It's not always so simple to do.

I am legitimately worried about my security because Green Dot Bank cares so little about me. They "accidentally" locked me out of my bank account four days ago when their site kept mistakenly sending me to the wrong page repeatedly. Their customer service agent instructed me to log-in again and when I tried, I was locked out for too many attempts. I was advised I'd have to upload documents verifying my identity and wait THREE DAYS to access my own money due to their error. I did what I was asked to do and now FOUR DAYS LATER I'm still locked out of my account and can't get anyone on the phone after sitting on hold for thirty minutes (and counting). Just filed a Federal Reserve Consumer Complaint Form. As a single mom, they've left me destitute with no money for food, rent, or gas and they were completely uncaring about their error and never even apologized.

Green Dot pre-paid cards are a big rip off. You pay $1.95 for the card, $4.95 fee to load, $20 to put on the card, and either the same day or the next morning they charge you $7.95 monthly fee and it has not even been 24 hours. Instead of charging it monthly which is at least 28 days, they do it less than 24 hours. Big rip off. If I knew this I would have avoided this worthless card. This card service is a POS.

Purchased card on 8-6-17 for my auto ins payment $250 bucks!!!! And these ** blocked my ish! For no reason at all!!! First time I go to use it bam! ** blocked and I ain’t even ever use the sob! Green Dot is scamming people out of their funds on these cards because they're ''assuming'' not everyone links these cards to their real names. And that is where the malfeasance comes in, erodes public trust in their product. I’m going back to Vanilla Gift Cards, fortunately all my cards are in my real identity. And they know that because I use them once a month or more like clockwork. So this was intentional! Dont ** with Greendot.com!!! Use Vanilla Visa!

Initially, I loaded money onto a Greendot visa card to pay a bill (which is every month). I ended up misplacing or getting the card mixed up with the other greendot cards. I tried calling & checking the balance for each card, which resulted in the cards being locked up. I tried reporting the card stolen & contacting greendot support for help as well. I was instructed on several occasions to send in a copy of my drivers license & the last 4 digits of my social security number, along with the card 16 digit number. I did that a few times for approximately 4 months. Tried contacting support over the phone. I was unsuccessful in contacting someone for months and/or holding the telephone line for hours.
Finally, after about 4 months of persistency I did get a customer service agent on the phone, she was very rude and seemed as if she did not want to assist me. None whatsoever. I requested to speak with a Manager/Supervisor, and tried explaining that I should have not been charged a monthly fee if I was not able to use the card & that it left me with a balance like $12.00. When initially, I loaded $50.00 on the card to pay a bill. After, continuously debating, the supervisor awarded me what I loaded on the card. Therefore, my situation was resolved after 4 months of trying to contact greendot support. This was a horrible experience. I have never been through anything like this with any other card holder before ever, where the staff would be so rude, negative, unhelpful, & almost impossible to get on the phone. Even though my issue was resolved months later. I would not recommend greendot to anyone else in the near future.

I don't know what the issue is with Green Dot, but I have been trying to get my card verified and it always comes back telling me I have the wrong SS card number. I have use the same number that was issued to me at birth. I even pulled my card out to make sure it's correct. I have no way to contact Green Dot to talk to them about this issue. I HAVE BEEN using Green Dot Visa for 6 months. Payments made from the card since First Premier said we couldn't verify payment. I could dispute this and get my money back with my bank. So I did dispute the June payment and they give me a provisional credit but I left off my May and April payment to be refunded and it could not be added to the dispute so I had to send in another dispute and then was told they would go ahead and give me the other 2 payments back. However my letter today says it's denied and that is not acceptable because they did refund my June payment but not my April and May payment.
So they did see where First Premier closed my acct with a 0.00 balance and Green Dot knows it's not fraud and if you give me back my first payment disputed then why would they not give me my other two payments made to First Premier since it was all for the same company. This is really upsetting me due to I did nothing wrong. I was promised my provisional credit once I sent it in since it went with my first one and they don't care. They lied to me.

I received my card over a month ago with no additional instructions to use my account. Rec'd notice on 8/2/17 my tax refund was deposited. Tried to use my card to pay a bill and declined. Called customer service, was told needed to verify identity by uploading documents proving myself to be me. I didn't within 30 mins. Spoke with management, asked to be expedited as my electric bill due for disconnection. I called in later that night, told sent to up management and would be processed within 24 hours. That time frame came and went as well as multiple calls from me to them. Each time speaking with new manager. Only to be told I was lied to, will not expedite and they will not be processing anything until 8/7/17 so my kids and I will have it go without electric in over 100 degrees for the entire weekend.
So first told would help speed up review to they are going to take full allotted time frame of 72 hours plus the weekend. When asked to speak to a manager, left on for 47 mins. I called back and was put on hold again for almost 30 mins where I hung up. So Green Dot bank has $5200 of my money that I can't use, can't speak to manager in customer service dept as well as refused to be allowed to speak to risk dept as they don't take calls I was told. His company is intentionally giving me the run around while my bills are going unpaid. No one should be allowed to be treated this way. Could really use some direction as to how I am able to get this company to take my need for a ride seriously and treat me some respect. Biggest mistake I ever made having my money deposited on one of their cards.

My debit card was fraudulently used in California for charges over $1000. I have contacted Green Dot and have not had success in recouping my money. I understand and investigation has to take place. I trusted my money to be safe.

There was an unauthorized charge to my card for $500.00 7/2/2017. I left my wallet at my local Walmart and once I realized that it was missing, I checked the app. Sure enough there was a charge!!! I went back to the Walmart to report the wallet stolen and a few moments later it was recovered! I immediately filed a claim to dispute the charge, even changed my pin just in case. The claim was denied for no transaction being posted. The statement online clearly shows a transaction made and posted on the exact same day.
I am now re submitting the claim with the letter received and the online statement because I believe that someone decided not to even take a look into the claim at all. I have been a loyal customer for 5+ years and even after I was denied the claim I decided to enroll in direct deposit, but now that I am receiving this letter of denial, I would like to have my case investigated again. I absolutely love this card and I have not had any problems until now and will love to continue business but I will be looking elsewhere if I cannot get a decent and logical answer.

It's a good card for me minus the fees at the ATM. It don't seem right to pay to get your money you already earned, but other than that stuff, it's a good card. Easy to get, easy to use accepted everywhere. It’s sweet to get paid two days before everyone else.

My elderly father was the victim of a phone scam. The caller claimed to be the father's grandson and needed bail money. The scammer instructed my father to purchase these prepaid cards and provide them with the card numbers. After learning this scam I alerted Green Dot to cancel the cards and refund the money before the scammer could draw the money. Green Dot has treated us like the criminal stating that our cancellation request suggest potentially inappropriate use of its product and the refund could take 6 weeks. To date they have returned $2000.00 of the $3000.00 purchased but has not sent us any correspondence. Trying to get a customer service agent on the phone is next to impossible. My father had also purchase 3 cards from NetSpend and they understood the situation and were eager to help.

When I lost my Green Dot and another "big bank" card, GreenDot had a replacement card to me before the "big bank" even finished processing my request for a new card number. Every time I've had an issue, customer service has resolved it in moments, and done so with courtesy to spare. Best bank, best card, best service, period!

It has been almost a month and I have not received my card (Personalized Card) yet, but Green Dot did not have any problem getting their fee off. I would not recommend this card to anyone. Plus the monthly fee is higher than most cards too.

I was using a Green Dot card instead of a local bank as I felt it was easier and less fees. I had my VA benefits going on it and I used the card for everything. Then I received a sizeable retroactive payment from the VA. I paid my bills and bought a few things and then decided I'd like to put the rest, ($10,000.00) into a local bank. So I opened up an account at a bank and asked Green Dot if they could wire transfer to my new bank or issue a check to me. They said no, and that the only way for me to get that amount of money is to close my Green Dot card account and they would sent a check for the balance. So I did. I waited for a check and what I got was a letter telling me I was basically using the card "inappropriately" and they were going to investigate.??? WHAT? Nothing has EVER BEEN INAPPROPRIATE!
I get my direct deposits, I pay bills and use it for groceries and fun and gas and all other every day things. Then I got my retro pay and requested my money and they are holding it ransom and won't give me ANY reason why. They are treating me like a criminal!! They can see the money came from the same GOVERNMENT AGENCY that deposits my benefits every month. I have called and spoke to a dozen representatives, emailed letters, copies of my military and drivers ID, and any other information I could and still 2 weeks later they haven't sent it and haven't explained anything to me! I feel like I'm in the twilight zone and this can't be legal!! I could see if someone went in and put cash on the card... but it clearly came from the US Dept of the treasury, and the same account I get my benefits from every month.
It's Green Dot BANK right? A place where you make deposits and withdrawals?? The customer service is ridiculous. The people barely speak English and they won't ever veer from the script no matter what you are trying to discuss. It's like they don't hear a word! I will NEVER use them again for any reason. I will shout from the roof tops to anyone that will listen about how they hijacked my money and offer no valid reason or information.

My Walmart money card was completely shut down due to what they said was unknown activity. They never notified me by phone nor email until after they blocked the use of my card. I was directed to send in documentation through their website. I submitted this info at least 20 times with a reply of the documents not being legible. When trying to get customer service on the phone. Which took several attempts. There was nothing they could tell me about my account. There wasn't even a number to give me about my account.
The rep proceeded to tell me to send in a paper copy of my identification. He was rude and very nasty. I have used this service for well over 5 years and I can't believe this poor service. Its been 2 weeks no paycheck and none of my funds available before my paycheck was deposited. I will definitely no longer use their service and as a cosmetologist in the customer service industry I will be advising everyone I come in contact with to not use their service at all.

Well any way my point is I had $2500.00 on my card, and I tried to put $500.00 more on my card two weeks later and it was denied and the cashier had to give me a credit. I had purchased a Greendot prepaid card in the past, because my low interest store card allowed me to charge it, as a way to use low interest short term funds. The first card I purchased, I was allowed to take the temporary card to the ATM immediately and use the money the way "I SAW FIT", It worked very well and I a couple weeks later I purchased another one. WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY! I looked at the two different packs and the only difference I saw was in the activation cost and the second card boasted of "free ATM fees". So I proceeded to load the card with $500.00... OF MY MONEY! I later drove over an hour away from home and went to pull some cash and was declined. After calling the customer service they said I had to wait 8 hours from the time of purchase to use the temporary card at the ATM. I was livid. This was not the case the first time I purchased the card.
Then I called to see if I could move the funds off the card and was told you could not transfer money off of a temp card, only on to the card! The solution was for me to wait almost two weeks for a "Personalized Card" where I would be able to move "MY MONEY THE WAY I SAW FIT!" But you can sure as heck bet...they got their activation fees right away. I also called tech support because in my frustration I typed my username and password in wrong and I needed help. I was told... "You will just have to wait the 24 hours until your account resets!!!" Really! So I am an hour away from home, I can't log into my account and I can't even get cash back at the register. It isn't anyone's business how I spend my money as long as my bills are paid! These are "PREPAID CARDS." The consumer should not have to cater to the company. This isn't a line of credit!

I am absolutely happy with my Green Dot account. I enjoy all about my account, getting paid sooner and access to it. I would say the only blemish would be charges for the account and withdrawal fees. Maybe in the future Green Dot can work on the one.

I never had any problems with Green Dot. Ever since I made an account with Green Dot, managing my money is easy now. I get no unexpected fees. I can always check my accounts from my devices. Customers service is great! I remember I lost my card and customer service was able to quickly shut that card down and send me a new one. I had to wait a week but at least I didn't lose any money.

I like Green Dot. It make things a lot easier to shop online and just pull out the GreenDot card and Ayers rite online. I only have one complaint about GreenDot and that is the seven dollar and some cents for the monthly fee to use the card.I think it's just a little bit much than the other debit card companies. They charge around five dollars if the card isn't used within a certain amount of time. Other than that I love using GreenDot. I never have a problem finding a place to reload the GreenDot. I've never had any problems using GreenDot anywhere. Thank you.

I have been locked out of my account for a total of 48 hours and I still can't access my account online. I don't know why but the answer to my security question is not what it should be. I need to change my PIN but I cannot get access to my online account. I've called several times for assistance but agents are unable to help me. I have never had such poor customer service from a financial institution. I will no longer be using this card for my business.

My first dispute was denied on 7-21-2017 on $7,214.39 for international charges to places that you can't find anything out on, no phone numbers, no store sites but yet another they said retail/shop on my statement history. My Apple ID was compromised. It was still active on an old iPad that was broken and sold to a place that buys messed up electronics. My first dispute only the last 4 pages were received out of the 23 I sent in. My written statement was the first page. The pages were numbered at the bottom 1 of 23 to the last that said page 23. But the investigation team decided to deny my claim based on the deposit coincided with the transactions. The SMS feature was also active on that iPad.
When I made a deposit on the card I would send myself a text. That was my way of record keeping. Like 99% of people I used my phone for everything. Just like the people working and running Green Dot. I trusted this company with my money. Even though on June 17 as I was told by one of their reps MY ACCOUNT flag a particular place in CHINA that was known for being suspicious. Yet I was not notified nor like my account agreement states would be froze. Today I was told it would be Aug 4th before I could find out anything. Why? I sent proof from Apple my ID was compromised, I sent proof I still have the card, I sent my ID Theft letter. They denied the first one for deposits coincided with transactions I sent proof that it was not me. Nor can they say I was sloppy with the handling of my information.
Because the other cards they made transactions on have already refunded the money. Green Dot processing allowed 102 transactions to be approved in a 30 day period even after June 17 flag. This is not right. I trusted my money would be safe with this company as a way saving. It should not take 10 more days to resolve this. They said the denial was transactions coincided with deposits. If that's the case my email from Apple take 10 seconds to read and my Letter of ID theft takes 20 seconds so it should take 30 seconds to fix it. Once they told me my dispute was denied it took 2 hours for them to close my account. Green Dot is no better than the person who used my card information to make these transactions. They should be held accountable for their part in it too.

I will never use this company or their cards again. It was a scam. I feel your company takes advantage of people and their money and intentionally make it where people don't know what they are getting into when they load money on their cards to think you're very misleading in the fees and the charges. You have to pay to keep this card up and running. Not helpful, customer service sucked and so did the company.

Why don't you accept them... I.e. personal checks from my clients... I'm a painter and some of my clients pay me with checks. But every time I try to process one you always decline them. This is a problem for me. I would like to just use this card.

I am very happy with my card. The only problem I've had is that the no fee ATM actually charged $3 per transaction. Need to separate list of fee and no fee ATMs. Dots on map overlap and it's hard to distinguish between them. Also, Vons on 30th & Howard doesn't do cash loads at registers.

I used to love my Green Dot until my account was closed and I wasn't given any warning. Was closed due to a $30 check that I deposited. Check bounced, money was taken out of my payroll deposit and now my account is closed. And I am unable to get a new card. This is the first time that I ever deposited a check. So now I have to wait a week until my paycheck is rejected to be issued a paper check. Green Dot is by far the worst for this one!!!

I got my card after a bad online experience using my bank debit card which led to someone using my card to do a lot of shopping. I use Green Dot card for all shopping and have never had any problems.

Most of the experience has been good but I have had issues of Green Dot taking service fee a couple of days before it supposed to. I have had an issue with transactions taken out too many times. But all together it been a good experience.

I like Green Dot. I only wish it was a more secure card. I haven't had many problems with this card. Only the text app isn't working. I’m a single mom and the extra fees hurt. Also it's a lot to take 10$ from any one on Disability or SSI.

My grandmother she didn't know any better. Bought me a Green Dot card and loaded $25 on it. The day I registered it I lost $4 to the registration fee. A day later I lost $7 to a monthly charge. I spent a total of $8 of that card before they took the rest in monthly fees because I was SAVING it to use just in case. I'm shutting down my card with $1 left. I will NEVER buy a Green Dot card, and I will make sure no one in my family falls into this trap.

I love Green Dot card. I've never had any problems. I get my money asap when it deposited and that helps me and my 4 children. I have recommended to many friends and it's accepted everywhere. Purchased Green Dot card to help a couple of incarcerated friends and to use solely for JPay and Securepak orders.. Have not had any problems loading or using card. I have no complaints, it really helps with these important issues. Access Securepak and JPay accept the Green Dot card.

I have had problems with the Green Dot app for Android and cannot access info about my cash back status on the website. If there is any way to access cash back status without using the app it should be listed on the website.

Do not like the Green Dot card taking fees out and needs to let it be known before they do it. Why the charge? I prefer to keep my money instead of them doing the monthly charge. The only time to charge should be loading money only.

This card is awesome and getting paid on Wednesday has been very cool. Wish I was in an area that had more free ATM access. Are you going to be issuing a debit card with a chip?? Just wondering since most POS is swipe or chip. I do feel safer with the chip though.

I Love using my Green Dot card but will be canceling because of the rising monthly fee. It's ridiculous. By the time I put money on the card and then the fee gets took off. I have to put money right back on it to make a purchase and also pay to put money on the card. It's crazy. I don't put a lot on to get the fee waived and I don't use the direct deposit so its a lose lose situation for me using my green dot card. I'm giving the company more than I am spending. Not right.

I'm disappointed that as soon as I put money on my card you took off the monthly service fee. I even had to pay $4 to put that money on my card. So by the time I spent $14 I could not pay my bill. I'm very disappointed. Thanks for taking all my money.

So far I'm very pleased with my card. I've had no problems with the direct deposit or using it. Wished there was not a monthly fee. Would be nice not to have a fee when loading additional funds. I like the 100 reward opportunity. Overall very satisfied and would recommend this card to family and friends.

When I originally purchased the card at Walmart, I thought why not take it the extra step and register the card so I can also use it for purchases online and to make a payment. My original intent was to merely use for iphone/itunes purchases. Since I have been a member, this year (2017) I also decided to have my federal and state refund deposited into my Green Dot card. I have been without work and in March of 2017 we (have two kids, 9 and 6) (I am a single father of two) lost our home. So every cent counts. It is so unfair to have to pay for atm withdrawal, the bank fee, as well as the Green dot fee!
Since March you may notice I have used the card for stays at the Marriot, they will charge the initial cost as well what they call an incidental deposit. I have had such a difficult time with those who answer the phone over this. Tying up my funds for absolutely no reason at all is unacceptable except for the fact that I feel the Green dot Bank does it to gain and benefit from customers' money for their gain in and use it for Interest. First it was, "You could win $5000 on Fridays by using your green dot card", now it's $500 on Wednesdays, hundreds of winners every week. Please, loyal customers are the ones who know, because nothing positive comes out of the card's bank except the availability to be able to have the card and use it with our own money.

I first reported this incident on July 11, 2017. It is now July 26, 2017, and I still have not received any response plus now you have charged me $7.95 monthly service charge which posted on July 25, 2017, which you will probably take out of my refund so I will not get what is rightfully owed to me.

I am grateful for my Green Dot card. I am learning the do's and don'ts as with any service. This card has helped me keep a accurate account of my financial responsibilities without overdraft payments for money I don't have. I have been able to use this card for all my personal business and am happy with the service.
