I bought a Green Dot load and go card to pay a bill. My bill needs to be paid today. Loaded $160 on card. Paid $163.95. Try to use the card to pay the bill and nothing. Called the card to check and it says card number is invalid. Cannot talk to a person. I can't pay what needs to be paid and now I'm going to get charged a shut off fee and I have no access to the money I paid. I don't have money to go out and buy a card from a different company. I've been scammed. There is no actual person to talk to. Contact me asap I need to pay my bill TODAY.

Late last month I contacted Green Dot and made it clear that I was speaking on behalf of my cousin. I informed them that he had purchased three gift cards for his three children for Christmas in the amount of $250 each, and I also stated that we still had two of those cards in our possession, but that one of them was missing. The representative that I spoke with did not request my cousin's name and made me open a case in my name. She also did not ask for the card numbers of the two cards that we still had in our possession. I submitted a photo of the receipt from the point of sale at Wal-Mart where the cards were purchased to go along with the email with the case number in the subject line.
Instead of tracking down the number for the third card and issuing a refund for that one specifically, Green Dot chose to shut off all three cards and opened an investigation, even though on 12/31/2017 I received an email claiming that a refund was on the way for the missing card. The only card that was used up to that point was the one belonging to my cousin's son which he used to purchase a hoodie from Etsy, a case for his Nintendo Switch at GameStop, and some gifts for his aunt at Wal-Mart. There should have been approximately $150 left on his card. The other card in our possession was not used at all prior to cancellation.
Two days ago I received a letter saying that "refund activity is inconsistent with average customer behavior" and requesting that I submit (once again) the receipt from purchase along with documentation including the front and back of the cards that we have, government issued photo ID. The NEXT day I received three checks (one for each card) as a refund. Now I don't know if I can cash these checks or not. I reached out to Green Dot to see if I can deposit the checks or not but I haven't heard back.

My 3 boys were all given cards for Christmas. They went to activate and says need ss#. It doesn't say that a Ss# is required on outside package. They will NOT be reloading, just want to use the $ they were given. Cannot speak or get a hold of a REAL person online or with the # provided. How does my mother in law get refunded or use the cards without ssn?? I will not put my ss# on it after reading of all the scams etc.

Two weeks ago, I purchased some items at WalMart. When I paid, I used a split payment (part of the payment on a FSA Debit Visa, the other part on my Green Dot/GoBank Debit Visa.) A week later I returned a few items to WalMart, and the company credited the entire refund amount to the Green Dot card. A few hours later I went to withdraw some cash from an ATM, and I was informed that my account was suspended. When I tried to log into the mobile app I was greeted with the following: "Your account has been blocked and is pending further review."
After several calls and emails, I was asked to provide copies of both the original and refund receipts, which I have. Green Dot has gone silent on the issue. No response from customer service, and when I dial the toll-free number as instructed by the website, I am told that I've already called several times (3 times) and that my status has not changed. The bank is currently holding over $350 hostage that they appear to intend to keep, and I seem to have no recourse. It's not enough $ to get an attorney or complain to state banking regulators. I'm very disappointed with this company and I can see why their reputation online is so terrible. I cannot imagine recommending any of their products to anyone.

I need to get my money back from Green Dot. I was in Mexico visiting. I was down there over a month and Green Dot decided to just cancel my card and keep my money. And I can't seem to speak to anyone. I put my card number in when asked for and my social security number. They just tell me my card is blocked and I can never get service with them again.
I had my kids buy me money packs while I was there and the day before they blocked my card my daughter had bought a money pack for 320.00. But they said it would be over the amount I was allowed to get in a month and it would be like 4 or 5 days before I could add that amount to my card, so I had my daughter buy me a lesser amount and when I was able to put the 320.00 on my card, right after they blocked my card. I live in Bakersfield on Grace St and I'm not understanding if they blocked my card why are they still charging a monthly fee and why have they not sent me a check for my money. I don't know who to contact so I'm going to try the Better Business BBB. That's the only way I believe I can get my money back.

This is the second time that I cancelled an order and the money "has come back and been spent already". This time I am not going to let it slip. I've contacted customer service and they keep telling me my money has been put on the card and spent on the 7th. I have screenshots to rebuke that of my account balance. So my money is just lost now? Not going to accept this.

I was very happy with the service until I needed a replacement card. I paid an extra $15 for an expedited card to be delivered on 1/5. It's now 1/8 and no card. I called Green Dot and they have no way of tracking the card and want to re-issue a new one. I can't take the risk of ordering a new one and then my card arrives and I don't know if I should wait. I need the card ASAP as I am going out of town on Friday. This is very frustrating. I can't even talk to a person because to log-in I have to put in the last 4 digits of my card but I don't know what they are as my card hasn't arrived!!!

My daughter got a card for Christmas. We did not know a SSN was required to register. We want a refund, but cannot speak to anyone regarding this as the phone number just loops. We would like someone to contact us to refund our gift since we will not be giving our personal information to your company.

I am trying to get in touch with someone about my MoneyPak card saying that it was already used. I was having issues with loading my $500 to my account and being asked for verification that was never reviewed. I tried reaching out to someone to verify that my refund request was received but no one is responding. I really wish Green Dot had a customer email at least. Can someone please contact me to confirm that the refund request was received. I really needed this money to heat my house and unfortunately the system blocked me from loading it saying I reached my limit.

Made a purchase using my Green Dot Card, with a giant fuel merchant, cashier made a mistake processing transaction and said he has to cancel sale and redo transaction. I have had several issues using my Green Dot particularly online our purchases, so after transaction declined a second time I paid cash and was told a reversal would be put back onto card. Retailer Giant food said it would be done on about an hour and funds should be available. Well here it is a week later, and every time I call Green Dot I speak to rep who speaks very little English and they tell me they do not see credit.
My last conversation with Green Dot they finally see pending credit but said it will take 12-15 days to process. I thought that was ridiculous and asked to speak to a manager. Answer none available, they will have a Manager call me in 1-2 business days I asked for corporate address. Answer, "We don't provide that information." Here it is nearly 2 weeks still have not heard from a Manager and still have not received my credit to my card. I post this because Green Dot is a horrible company and can only use card in person. Have not been able to purchase anything online.
When I spoke to a rep about that issue they did not accept responsibility. Blamed the company I was trying to purchase from. This is my last resort to get my refund and hopefully Green Dot see this and contacts me. Beware consumers. Green Dot is not customer friendly and their customer service is the worst. Not a good choice for reloadable cards. Do not use Green Dot.

I purchased a Green Dot prepaid card at CVS. They will not refund the purchase even though there is no way to use the funds in the card or activate it. If you Google Green Dot you will see the company is in shambles and a scam. They are aware the cards are not working and have no online provisions to fix the issue. They have internal employee issues that are now being publicized and they are aware that people using their cards already have limited resources. I would gladly get involved in a class action suit and encourage lawyers to completely explore this option.

I am very angry. I picked up a Green Dot prepaid visa. The card won't let me activate online or by phone. I can't find a human using the customer service number. I can't even find an email online. So what?! Is my money just gone? Do not get this card!

Primor credit card - I initially applied for this secured credit card through another bank. I haven't had any concerns or problems until Green Dot took over my account. The customer service department isn't very helpful and it is virtually impossible to get in touch with an escalation department when there is a concern. I'm a very dissatisfied customer and I'm thinking of closing my account.

I purchased a Green Dot MoneyPak on January 3 2018 to fund my Rushcard and they instructed me to go to the site and register. I did all of the steps they asked for identification. I did that as well then it said I had to wait 2 business days. That is done as well. Still no funds when I go to check my MoneyPak. It says that the card is used already but I didn't receive what I put on the card. I have searched and searched for a number to call for assistance and cannot find a number to get to a person. I am out of almost 500 dollars that was for bills. If anyone has a legit number to call that would be awesome. I have proof of purchase as well as the MoneyPak. This is a nightmare and I need a resolution. The website only has canned answers. I am at a loss on what to do next.

I received a $40 gift card from a family member, a Visa Green Dot card, and all I wanted to do was use it. The fact that I needed to register it before use is frustrating by itself, and unlike any other gift card I’ve used before. I should not have to provide my contact information and SSN to use a single use temporary gift card. An $8/month charge until it's used is outrageous as well. Green Dot’s online registration option was glitchy, and claimed technical difficulties right after I put in sensitive information. This was very concerning. The over the phone option was entirely automated, which is also concerning while being asked for sensitive information. The whole process seems shady as hell. In short, I am never buying one of these gift cards for anyone, and I will be returning any I might receive. Go to MasterCard or another competitor for anything like a universal gift card!!

Bought a card and tried to activate it but didn’t know I had to wait 30 mins, then when I tried again said I had to wait 24 hours in order to try again. Tried to get help from the store but they can’t help either, told me to call Green Dot, who doesn’t even have a number you can call to speak with a live agent. Never buy Green Dot!

I myself don't own a credit card. So in order to get car insurance I went and bought Green Dot prepaid debit Visa at CVS. I loaded $120 on the card. The receipt and the clerk both told me the card was already activated. I go out in the parking lot and in my car I call my insurance agent. Give her the number of the card purchased and it is declined due to invalid card number. So I assumed I had to activate the card. So I went to the website on the card. They're also told me it was invalid card number after entering it in three different times and getting the same results. I tried calling to talk to an agent of Green.
Impossible. Can't get ahold of nobody. Then I try to activate the card again and notice that when you're typing in the 14 digit number of the card after the first set of numbers it starts typing backwards so you enter the wrong number each time until you notice this but this time it's too late and they say, "Oh you can't activate your card now. You have to call back in 24 hours." I'll Never Again buy another one of these cards. I don't. I strongly recommend nobody else too either. There's better ones out there. Very unsatisfied with the with Green.

On 12/30/17 I reported two fraudulent charges to my account that were made by the same company totaling $401.97. I reported this within minutes of it happening. I had no relationship with the company since August, and had never given my permission to retain my card information, nor did I authorize these charges. First Green Dot told me that I had to wait until the charges posted to file a complaint. I did so. They closed my card and issued a new one, during this time I had no access to the funds left in my account. I filed the dispute, gathered all of the information INCLUDING an email from the owner of the company admitting to fraudulently charging my account.
Green Dot Bank put a lock on my new card and demanded a photo ID, which I sent twice. This is apparently not good enough, the block is still on my account and the funds that were stolen have not been added to my balance. It is a week later and Green Dot Bank is treating me like I am a criminal, and I have been a customer for YEARS! I am livid, to say the least. I have bills due, no money for transportation or food, while they continue to "investigate" the charges even after I provided them with proof of everything.

Let me preface this review by stating that I have a been repeat, in fact dedicated and loyal Green Dot user for a number of years accessing I’m sure of their services with ease at one point or another, until this week when I purchased a MoneyPak to fund my debit card to pay my rent. What a disaster, I am literally shocked and sickened by the way this has unfolded: Three days ago I purchased a MoneyPak for exactly $420 at King Soopers. I waited the requisite 20 minutes the same as I always do, loaded the MoneyPak with no issues until the very end when ordinarily it would say: “Success!” This time it asked for me to upload my State ID to verify my identity, no problem my ID is right here next to me and I was pretty sure Colorado changed its laws pertaining to prepaid services because the week prior I had to show my ID and input all my details upon purchase of a prepaid gift card for a Christmas gift.
Two days to complete the validation process, but either way I would be kept in the loop and sent electronic communications as were relevant to my purchase. Not only did Green Dot NOT send me an email or text within 30 minutes, they have not communicated AT ALL the three days since uploading that ID. Beyond that, they still have not released my almost $500 which I needed as I stated for rent, promoting my landlord to threaten eviction and slam me with $250 in late fees ALREADY!
Here’s the kicker, MoneyPak Is a no refundable deal, so once that number is entered and accepted into the MoneyPak system it’s gone. Gone. Also they have no contact information and are “an online only service” or at least I was told by their green dot representatives when I called seeking more information: Meaning, Green Dot just... What? Hijacked my rent money? Pushed me into an unresolvable problem with homelessness being a possible if not probable option! They have zero accountability. I have given them Thousands and thousands over the years, but after this fiasco I promise Green Dot will never see another red cent from my purse. Or anyone else who I can Share it with. Disgusting. Give me back my money.

On December 19, 2017, I purchased a Greendot Load and Go card from Rite Aid. Around 5:00 am, I tried to activate my card but I kept getting an error message via the automated system and on their website. Attempted to contact customer service but I was unable to speak with a live representative. A few days later, I completed the form for missing loads but I haven’t heard anything regarding my complaint. After checking my receipt, I noticed that the card number was totally different on the receipt from the actual card itself. I also went back to Rite Aid but they said they were unable to do anything because the money was loaded on the card successfully.

Purchased this card at a Walgreens for 150.00. I was in a bind and it was over the New Year holiday and had to pay a bill, but was unable to get to a bank. Receipt shows the purchase was valid. Attempted to register the card and continued to get error that my card was invalid. I also got a message over the phone that my card had no funds. When I got this phone message the call was disconnected and I never got any option to speak with anyone directly. I generally do not use these cards but this by far has had to be the worst experience ever. How is there no customer service? How am I unable to contact anyone directly for a refund! Definitely the worst ever.
Updated on [02/13/2018]: If I could put negative stars I would. I submitted a complaint here and was told by Green Dot that I would be contacted. However this was over a month ago and I still have not heard from anyone and still have no gotten my money back. This has been the worst experience of my life. I would never recommend them to anyone.

I lost my card with my monthly social security deposit on it so I called and ordered a new card. I paid an extra 18$ to have the card delivered Express. When I got the card it was blocked. I was instructed to send in a copy of my ID. I sent in the ID and was told it wasn't legible. I have continued to send in copy after copy and multiple emails. I haven't received any responses. I lost my card on Dec. 22, 2017 and they still keep saying they will remove the block in 2 days. I am disabled and facing eviction because of this and there is no way to speak to someone about my situation. I am FURIOUS! I will be reporting this to every outlet possible. It is terrible that almost everyone on this site is complaining about this bank wrongly keeping money that doesn't belong to them. GREEN DOT IS A SCAM! DO NOT USE THIS CARD!

Somehow my Green Dot prepaid VISA card info was obtained by an unauthorized party and a series of purchases were made in TN and GA wiping out my account. I live in VA. Green Dot never called to alert me to fraud and now they are making it difficult to remedy this situation. I was able to make 2 phone calls before Greendot closed me out of their system. Naturally, I closed the account and now that I'm not a "customer," their automated system won't allow me to speak with anyone, nor am I able to do a live chat (system says it's closed and to try later).
There are a total of 4 transactions I am disputing--Green Dot has processed 3 of the 4. The largest transaction somehow is not being processed, and now my case says it has been fully resolved. But again, the 4th and largest transaction has not been addressed. I sent an email alerting to this oversight and received the response that my case was closed. No one has addressed the 4th transaction. I sent another email and now I'm receiving no response. In my opinion Green Dot is a bunch of crooks and no one should do business with them.

My acct info saved for utility bill online. No problem for months until Dec. Then declined payment. Checked acct had a good positive balance, no transaction noted charged or returned. I called Entergy they said Green Dot states acct closed. Clearly it’s not because I checked it then pd bill online through BillMatrix which cost me! Called Green Dot, they have no Entergy transaction nor anything saying acct closed but did show payment just made it Entergy through BillMatrix. Now Entergy saying not their system and Green Dot saying it’s not their system, and will not call Entergy to clear up. I am afraid to use acct # to pay in case it’s returned again. Will be major problem for me with Entergy. Entergy rep says to switch Green Dot has had problems with them in the past. I would really appreciate Green Dot stepping up and resolving this computer problem between them and Entergy concerning my acct.

Bought my card from Green Dot, paid 226 dollars plus the 2.95 fee. Rounded up to around $230. Figured I was able to go home, sit back order exactly what I wanted for Christmas. Guess I was wrong. Turns out my card didn't even work at all. So I said "Screw it, let's register . What'll it hurt to have a new debit card around?" After receiving my personalized card in the mail, I went straight to activating it over the phone. After activation it told me to wait 10 minutes. I didn't want to mess anything up so I waited until the next day.
So around 12 or 13 hours later I decided to make anything purchase. Huh that's weird it was declined. I called customer service and they told me my card wasn't activated. So I activated it again, but this time over the computer. I then waited the specified time and a little over then went off to try and purchase what I wanted for Christmas even though it was days after. Wait a minute, declined again. Hmmm. Called up customer service again and they pulled a loophole on me 19 times. I've tried to activate the card 19 times. And every time it says I've activated it but when I call customer service they tell me I haven't. After the 17th time around I asked the people working on customer service for help. I wondered if they could do it for me because for some reason it wasn't working for me 17 times. They told me no. They couldn't. Now I'm sitting here looking dumb after being scammed of $226 dollars. Just moved and Green Dot card "lost". Notified company of situation 12/13/17. Requested new card and gave change of address. Received new card but found out it was blocked 12/21. Provided photo of state ID same day. Have checked back multiple times still blocked even though I sent "proof" a second time. No number reaches a human nor is there a way to even leave a message. Sent email to corporate 12/28/17. No response still today 1/3/18. Just how long does this "2 days to verify" take? I have social security only and each penny counts. I am at my wit's end Help please.

I enjoy using this Green Dot Visa debit card for my direct deposit and or paying bills. The only issues I had was when the company had an issue with card usage but from my understanding will accommodate users for their loss (dont know when)... Otherwise good debit card, polite customer service, and short wait times. This is probably one if the most reliable debit cards to have. Give it a try.

I deposit MoneyPak into my debit and it's been 6 days and no response and nothing into my debit card. It says at least 2 days to review but still nothing, I tried calling, typing in the card number and it says invalid. I did it with 2 MoneyPak. I have the receipt for the transaction and I'm trying to get my refund for all 4.

Was given a Green Dot Prepaid Card as a gift with 25 dollars loaded so after their 7.95 a month service fee I have 17 dollars left. Not a good gift card or a good reloadable card. H-E-B has a reloadable card with cheaper fees. Would never recommend Green Dot.

I bought this card today to load $100 onto it so I could pay a bill quickly. I paid the $4.95 for the card and added $100. I activated the card and it's not able to identify me so I couldn't make online purchases of bills and use the $100. I couldn't get in touch with any customer service people to help resolve this. My bill is now late and can't figure out what to do.

Purchased a VISA Green Dot prepaid debit card today. It was my understanding that upon purchasing and making a deposit onto the card you can use it to make online purchases or pay bills. Nowhere on the card does it say activation of card may be subject to verification. Well today that's what's happened to me and the deposit I made was to pay for a very very important bill that was due today and the only way of paying this bill was via debit or credit card. I must say Green Dot really screwed me over on this one. Thanks for doing me dirty and I think that this is against the law to hold someone's money from them. What's the reason for further verification. It's my card and my money. This is ridiculous I don't know what to do now and need access to this money tonight before 12 am.

Very shady company. Markets their product to be confused with a gift card when in reality it is a "reloadable debit card" that deducts $7.95 a month as a "maintenance fee". Cards cannot be used for online purchases and only become active after supplying your social security number.

Purchased card 12/30/17 at 5pm from local Walgreens. Loaded $100. Waited an hour before attempting to register card. Registering went smoothly until completion. Was rejected for online use of card because of Green Dot's inability to verify my information (?!). Can use card only for in person purchases. Nothing online. Defeats purpose for buying card. So I'm into this for $100 + the $10 for card purchase ($1.95, $7.95). Atrocious misleading criminal business practice demonstrated by Green Dot. My mission: scour the globe scorching Green Dot's reputation wherever I travel. ALL I WANTED TO DO IS MAKE SIMPLE PURCHASES ONLINE WITH A VISA DEBIT CARD! How is it possible to so completely screw that up, Green Dot?

My card was flagged and then cancelled for what they called "suspicious activity". It's the holidays so obviously I have made a few online purchases but also a few returns. When I called and spoke to a supervisor they could not tell me exactly why my card was flagged or blocked. I have had the card for 5 months with 0 problems until now. What I'm worried is I have a few pending refunds. The supervisor told me I would no longer be able to load money onto my card and once the balance hit 0 it would cancel. My question is what of my pending refunds? Will they no longer be credited to my account? Where will they go? Customer service could not give me a definitive answer. It's a fair amount of money and I'm rather concerned. Please help.

Here's the thing. I woke on December 21st and saw 4 fraudulent charges being pending from a company never heard of. I GoBank owned by Green Dot. They told me I need to wait for the charges to go through then I can dispute it. I told them why give the money away, then dispute it. Why can't they voided, they told me it's impossible. I google the name of the merchant and find out they're based in France. I messaged them on Facebook. I was told by that merchant that the transactions were rejected and will clear out within 48 hours.
Today is December 29th and those transactions are still pending and were told this morning to wait January 4th. This is the worst company ever. None of their call centers are full with people that have no idea how to help. Will tell you only "I’m sorry," or "I can't do that". Green Dot needs either give these employees the tools they need or get people that know how to provide customer service rather than nightmares. My kids’ holiday were ruin by these people!!!

Green Dot took my money and put it in pending status after they denied it the merchant. They won't give me access to my funds for 2 weeks. Every though the charge was denied. The money never left Green Dot banks. When they hold money fraudulently like this they make a lot of money from interest they collect by keeping the money in their account. I don't want any parts of this. It is against the law.

After being with Green Dot for over 5 years I ordered a new card because the one I had wouldn't swipe anymore. After doing so I received an email asking for a photo of my id. Once submitting it I was told my account was being closed because it doesn't meet requirements. If a real state ID doesn't meet requirements what does? I don't know if it's because they are asking people to take a photo with a cell phone or what but this is completely outrageous and something really should be done about it. When I attempted to call for support that lead me to nowhere. When I say I'm outraged it's an understatement.

This has been a nightmare to deal with. The company allowed a $240.00 deduction ON 12/12/17 from a unknown source at a WAWA prior to my paycheck being deposited. They first said it would take 2 weeks to resolve. I bought a MoneyPak to put on my prepaid debit card in order to purchase something online for my parents for Christmas. I had used this service once before and everything was fine (except the 5.95 fee) but whatever. I go to Dollar General, buy the card and attempt to load it on there and it says I must wait 20 minutes after purchase. I did this a few times before I realized it hadn’t been quite 20 minutes because I was looking at another receipt from Dollar General for a coffee drink that I “had to purchase separately” according to the cashier.
Long story short, it said I had reached the maximum attempts to load onto card and then said the card had already been redeemed. I guess actual humans don’t work at their customer service center. I kept getting hung up on because I didn’t have a 16 digit card number. This company sucks so hard. Oh and btw this happened after I had to fight for 8 days with my HR Dept to get my FIRST check at a new job that all went on that MoneyPak card. Merry Christmas to me!

Overall I've had good experiences with this card, however I do have a minor complaint. I usually get paid on Friday through direct deposit. All of a sudden my paycheck started getting deposited 2 days earlier, on Wednesday. Good news! So I started counting on that. Then all of a sudden it wouldn't enter into my account until Friday morning. No explanation given, but having counted on it I was strapped for those few days. Not a huge deal, I now count on it being in my account on Friday. Other than that I haven't had any problems. I prefer this over a bank account due to the fact that it can't be overdrawn. I've gotten myself in trouble by overdrawing in the past so I prefer this.

Green Dot/MoneyPak is trying to scam me out of $500. I'm unable to upload the money off of the MoneyPak card onto any of my prepaid cards. They asked for my ID verification and said I would be contacted in 30 min. After I uploaded my license, now they're telling me it's going to take 2 days. I DON'T HAVE TWO DAYS. MY RENT IS DUE TODAY. I had my brother send me $500 and this was the cheapest way to receive the money. I've used MoneyPak before and this is the FIRST time I've been asked to upload ID verification. Now I'm calling Green Dot to get assistance and they're telling me there's NOTHING they can do. I have to wait the two days. So now I am going to incur late fees, attorney and court fees all because I was unable to access money that is on a MoneyPak card. I feel robbed, scammed and cheated out of $500 that's being held hostage by Green Dot/MoneyPak.
I read online complaints with this company and I don't seem to be the first and I'm sure I won't be the last person that this has happened to. All I can say is that I am going to pursue this issue to a higher power and bring about a civil lawsuit against this company. You can not prey on people the way you are. Not only are you affecting peoples daily living, you have NO CONTACT information for MoneyPak and you're supposed to be associated with Green Dot, however, per Green Dot they have no access to do anything concerning MoneyPak. So what kind of scam are you all running. I know within 48 hrs I BETTER HEAR something from MoneyPak or else I'm reporting this as a scam through your company!!! LIVID.

We have called numerous times today to request a refund because my son does not wish to set up an account in order to use the Debit card he received. This was a gift for him, but he cannot use it. Upon calling, we both got nowhere, just looped around. We were told numerous times that we would be transferred to an account specialist, but that never happened. This is very poor. They cannot force my son to open an account and they cannot keep the $100.00 put on the card. There is also a lack of ways to contact Green Dot about this matter - no additional phone number - no email address - very suspicious. We would like the money intended for him to be given to him with no strings attached by Green Dot.

This is ridiculous. First it took forever for money to even show up then they charged me 8 dollars for something I did not consent for. Some VIP thing and will not give money back. I put exactly what I needed on the card to purchase what I needed online only to be used once so after having an available balance of 140 - 8... So 132 I try to make my online purchases and didn't work. Called. Said to wait 8hr. I did. Tried again. Same thing. Called and told wait 8 hours. 3rd time I tried two smaller purchases online totaling 12$ and the $80 purchase would not work still having over $114. Called. TOLD TO WAIT 8 HR, asked for supervisor. No one there. This needs to be fixed now. Not in 2 days. The thing I'm trying to buy I only can today and tomorrow.

I was given a Green Dot Prepaid Cards, and it said I had to activate. Surely enough, I activate it. Unlike other prepaid cards, I cannot use this online or at the atm, because I'm only 17 years old. I cannot reload the card either. Also, it charges a $8 monthly fee. The person who gifted me this meant to give me $25. Seems like a waste of money and scam. Even if I use the $17 and have no money left, according to the FAQ, it'll still be charged, which I don't know how. It defeats the purpose as a gift card. I've never encountered such foul thing. Do not use Green Dot prepaid cards. If anything, you're better off just using a real debit card, PayPal, or other prepaid cards.

I just bought a Green Dot Reward Card as a Christmas present for my son. I loaded it with fifty dollars. He registered it online, but, he and I did not know about the nine dollar registration fee till after he used it for a gas purchase, and then checked it the next day for the remaining amount. That is when he found that they had deducted nine dollars just for registering it. Now why is that not disclosed to the consumer before using it? If I had known about being charged that amount just to register it, I would never had purchased it. They more or less stole nine dollars of a Christmas present to put in their own pockets, which in my opinion is total BS. Seems to me, just collecting the interest off of the money while it's in their accounts is not enough, they want more. I was never charged a registration fee for a normal GD card ever, so why now? Is it because it is a cash back card/rewards card? If so, they can keep them, I'm never buying one again.

It says the card is already activated or registered but it still doesn't work or let me use it. I tried to call customer service but they were no help. I try to get my money out through an ATM and it was declined. I couldn't put a PIN number. I can't do anything! I need help please.

Eight Hours before being able to use my Green Dot Visa Prepaid Card to make an online transaction or phone payment. That is what I was told by "Bob." in some outsourced office phone center when I called to find out why my Geico Car Insurance payment was declined three times. Once on the phone, and twice online. Nowhere does it state in the cardholder agreement that the card user has to wait eight hours before the card "updates." According to "Bob" it is a very complicated process to update the card in their administration department. Really? Green Dot must be the slowest financial service in modern day. My warning: DO NOT PURCHASE A GREEN DOT CARD. This company is very deceptive and misleading.

I have tried unsuccessfully multiple times to load my eligible prepaid Green Dot and Account Now Visa cards. It is 3 days before Christmas and after jumping through hoop after hoop I'm basically out my 400 dollars until just after Christmas. After endless attempts to contact a living being that is directly connected to MoneyPak I am left empty handed with a ton of "I'm sorry ma'am. There nothing we can do." So perhaps I can just cut the moneypak card into 3 even pieces and give that to my kids for Christmas. And congratulations to moneypak.com for being the only successful Phantom of a website. Apparently the whole website runs itself because there's no one that works for them or even a number to call.

I have had GreenDot for over 6 months and have my check deposited into my account weekly. On Dec 8th I received a text stating that I had made some purchases. These were done in a different country. I contacted GreenDot immediately. I have had the runaround ever since trying to get my money back. During the initial call they told me it should be resolved within 10 days. I have been in contact constitutionally. Still no resolve. The last time I talked to them on the phone they said it WILL be resolved by Dec. 22. Well needless to say still no resolve. Still no money.
A good bank would notice this is not "normal activity" and they would contact me. Now I am concerned that I will never see my money. Furthermore this was money I was going to use on Christmas and I do not see GreenDot taking care of the situation. I am beyond frustrated. I would not recommend GreenDot to anyone. Stay Away from getting or using GreenDot. They do not care about you.

I have a Green Dot money card the agent told me I had two in my name and I told her I only had one. So if she wanted to she could cancel the one I wasn't using. Well she ended up canceling the wrong one that had 134$ in it and now can't get ahold of an agent because my info is no longer valid. I've called so many times and so have my daughter and I don't know why it's so hard to talk to a live person. Someone please help!!!

I had my SSDI direct deposit into the Green Dot card. They had a different phone number that I told them wasn't mine. I kept trying to change it and I couldn't on the app or website. They finally after 10 plus phone calls they changed my number to the correct one. But in the meantime, my entire pay was stolen. That was grocery and Christmas money. Christmas is in 5 days and my children have no gifts nor do I have food in my house thanks to their poor practices and giving my info to someone else. I filed with the P.A. state attorney general's office but that could take a while. They need to be shut down. How do I tell an 8 year old that Santa won't be coming? They are crooks and need to be shut down.
I have nothing to do in my house either because of this. I'm sick to my stomach over it. Every time they say someone will call, they don't call. I don't know what to do but cry. My husband is very sick and needs an amputation due to out of control diabetes. I have nowhere to turn. My dad just passed away which cost us a lot of money. I have no clue what I'm going to do. The investigation is up tomorrow. I asked about provisional credit and of course they don't know what it is and said they don't offer provisional credit. According to my state attorney general's office they just give it to me. I'm ruined. I seriously just want to end it all. I can’t have my kids with no Christmas.

Received email from Walmart MoneyCard (Green Dot) that there had been suspicious activity with my card, and that it had been turned off as a result. The email provided a link to log into Green Dot and provide proof that I was who I said I was, I.E. a photo ID such as a drivers license. I completed the requirements and began waiting the two business day waiting period for them to process and verify my identity. Two days later I still see no correspondence as to the results of the verification or my card being turned back on. I go back to the verification website only to find out my original submission was deemed illegible and required resubmission.
I followed the instructions a second time, perfectly. Now I'm being told that my account is closed and I can no longer have an account with Green Dot. I have tried every customer support number only to be hung up on by an automated system. The worst part is that I have money on the card that is now unobtainable. Worst customer support I have ever seen. Thank you Green Dot for closing my account for no reason, then blatantly stealing my money without so much as a courtesy call offering an explanation as to why you were robbing me. Kudos. Next stop, BBB.

My fiancé and I bought a Green Dot Visa Gift card from Walmart Friday night and when we went to wrap it up Sunday evening for a Christmas gift it was nowhere to be found. I went back to Walmart to get a copy of my receipt as I don't have the card to get the 16 digit number and every time I call a customer support line it's automated and keeps asking for the 16 digit code which I don't have, because the card is gone. I just want to cancel the card and get my money back and I can't even talk to a real person! I'm very disappointed with how Green Dot and Walmart run their customer support lines, I just want answers on how to get my $100 back! Please help!

I used to love the service I received when my checks would arrive 2 days early. It doesn't happen anymore. Like I only received it 2 days in advance for 6 pay cycles and then it didn't happen anymore. Don't know why. Same employer, same payroll company, same account. When I called to speak about it to a customer rep after being on hold for 1 hour and 37 mins was told that there is no problem on Green Dots account and the error must be from my payroll company. I called my payroll company and see that my check was sent to my Green Dot always on Tuesday of the pay week. Green Dot keeps my money until they feel like releasing it. ADP is my payroll provider.
Overall, not only does Green Dot advertise the "2 days early" thing as if it works they literally keep hold of your money for days before releasing it for no reason. This also occurred to me on a pending transaction which I knew was sent to my card on a specific day from a merchant. I had to wait over 2 weeks and 3 phone calls to Green Dot before they released my money. Did I mention that I am a "VIP" member which means I have priority when dialing in. They advertise that also when being offered the program. So why is it that I waited over 1 hour on hold for questions concerning my funds? Overall I am not happy with the services I pay for and I think you should be honest with your customers.

I sent letter for dispute that address was provided and gave updated address info for new card with 7 to 10 business days. I called person said they was supervisor. Couldn't give me any answer about status of new card. He rushed me thru the call which should be recorded for quality service. And hung up on me for asking questions about why he couldn't tell me anything. I could see him hanging up if I were being rude or swearing at him. And there is still a professional way to end that call if I had been which I wasn't. My original issue was my card got charged and I didn't authorize it and the call back number to the company they gave me didn't work. I was told some company on Facebook charged me and contact them. I been with your company over year. No problems until this. I'm out of finances that I didn't authorized. This is an issue of fraud.

I bought a temp card. Registered it online fast accidentally typing my Maiden name rather than Married. It apparently caused a fraud alert. My card got locked. I sent copies of my id. Explained the problem but I had no luck. I need my card unlocked. I have bills to pay. If you can't send a personalized card fine but let me use my temp card. I have the receipt to prove it bought it.

Very dissatisfied with the service when trying to resolve a pending transaction. With numerous telephone calls and trying to explain they don’t understand. Then when I do speak with somebody that understand, they give me an email address to pass on and it’s incorrect. Then you tell me I have to wait until 2018 for you figure it out. That’s unacceptable business and extremely frustrated over the whole situation!!!

OK so I purchased this card for my daughter, who loves to online shop... A week before Christmas so she could get what she wanted without us having to run from store to store. She ordered things online and the payment was declined, so I'm confused as to why, because I loaded over $130. Called Green Dot customer service and was told because I didn't register the card all the way. I could only use it for in store purchases and was not allowed to withdraw money that I put on the card. I was also informed I couldn't register the card, because I should have done it the first time... CRAZY!!! The only reason for purchasing the card was for convenience and this is a inconvenience. I will NEVER use Green Dot again, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CARD TO ANYONE.

I bought the card and put $120 dollars on the card from Walgreens. I attempted to activate it. I put in all of the pertinent information and the automatic service said the card was invalid. I attempted a couple more times with the same result. I then called the number on the back of the card (1-866-871-2414). Went through all of the prompts and it said that the card didn't exist. THEN it told me that I had called the wrong number and to call the number on the back of the card... WHICH IS WHAT I JUST DID! I attempted to register it online, like the prompt suggested. It said that the card was invalid.
I called Walgreens and they said that they didn't have anything to do with it after it left the store. Then I called another number on the receipt (1-888-244-7589). Went through the same thing that the other number stated. I kept calling these numbers hoping to get an opportunity to speak with a LIVE person as to explain all of this to. It kept hanging up on me or telling me to call the number on the back of the card. At that point I was livid as I put this money on this card to get a last minute Christmas gift so that I would not get ripped off...only to get ripped off with this card.

My Green Dot card was recently blocked. I received an email asking me to send in pictures of my I.D. to verify my identification. Which I did. I called corporate to find out why my card was blocked. I was told my ID was flagged for fraud. I would like to find out why. The only reason I can think of is the address on my I.D is different from my billing address as we recently moved into our house and I haven't changed the address on my I.D yet. I believe my card was blocked because I had purchased a couple things and then cancelled the orders. I need this matter resolved as I have money on that card that I cannot lose. I can email any verification I need to prove my identity. Address change from the post office. Copy of my passport. Whatever I need to do. Thank you.

My debit card information was stolen and someone made a copy of card and spent every last dime of my money. I filed police reports and every form Green Dot stated they needed only to not have my money returned. I just want my money back. I’ve been a loyal customer for almost 8 years. This is the first time I’ve had anything like this happen. I would think so many years of being a loyal customer would account for something but apparently not. It’s just sad that you treat your customers like garbage. Once my dispute is over and my money is received I will be canceling my account and going elsewhere.

Loaded money on the card, made transactions with the card only to find that everything was denied. Try to call Green Dot to see what the problem is and can only speak to automated system that keeps hanging up on me. After two days of no help I had to report the card stolen, because that's all the auto system will allow me to do. Couldn't even update info. Now have to wait a week for new card. Which means I can't use my money for at least a week. It's Christmas and items I thought were on their way, are not. Cards are all over, in all types of stores, I'm tied up for at least a week.

I have been with the company for three years plus and this is by far the worse transaction I have had with them over the past couple of days. I have spoken to 2 cooperate reps and multiple reps in a foreign country that do not know what customer service is. No one has answers and there is never a supervisor on duty. I have called over 6 time this morning and have no resolution but to cancel my card. I would not recommend anyone using this banking system. I purchased a ticket through CheapTickets. Cancelled it within 10 mins because I purchased the wrong returning flight. I called them all week and no one as a response but I have to wait until 12/26 for a refund.
CheapTickets refunded me the service charge, Delta refunded me their portion and American Airlines is still pending. Why? The transaction all took place with 1 click 1 transaction. They are not giving me a refund because it in pending status. I called CheapTickets and American Airlines on three way both saying it is my banking institution. My money is lost in the computer system they have until 12/26. And even then now I canceled my card due to frustration I have to wait an additional two weeks for the check to arrive which means I will not have my 511 until the second to third week in January for a purchase that was made on 12/11. SMH. The worse banking.

I recently did a dispute. I was robbed in my neighborhood leaving for work. Where my wallet, social, and ID was stolen along with my purse. Whoever took it withdrew all my money off my card. Green Dot recently denied my dispute. I have sent in police report and sign dispute and Wells Fargo. Stating that I didn't make those transactions. Still haven't gotten my money back on my card. Can someone help me? I don't have anything for my kids for Christmas. I'm on the verge on being homeless. And the representative are rude...

I purchase several prepaid Visa card as gifts and I only loaded $20. But they are accessing almost an $8 fee, it defeats the purpose of paying for the card and then having a fee accessed. I could not return them and I am unable to contact customer service for help. This is obviously a scam. I will NEVER use Green Dot again and I would recommend anyone even considering using them to run in the opposite direction. Absolutely zero help to get any satisfaction!!!! If I could give them zero stars I would!

I purchased a $500 Green Dot MoneyPak reload at Walgreens where I provided my identification. I then went online to redeem my purchase. I followed direction, provided my ss#???, ID (again), my NetSpend prepaid visa info. My money has been held up and the phone numbers are all worthless canned automation. I was unable to contact a live operator to explain where my money went and why I have no access to it. I am beginning to believe the Green Dot corporation is a scam company with the non-working numbers, online only vibe. No live operators.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB and Walgreens corporate office.I feel so used. To walk into a supposed upstanding company such as Walgreens and be duped out of my money in the blink of an eye by Green Dot corporation. I may need legal assistance because this is absolutely unbelievable. Can they take my money that easily? With no recourse? I spent my hard earned money in good faith and I will not stop until my money is returned to me. I promise to never ever in life make a Green Dot purchase again!

So Dec 11th, or 12th 2017 I received notice that I had money sitting in my account that I totally thought would never go on there because of how long it was taking to receive it but long story short I have 2000 dollars in my account and I spoke to someone to get a new card because I lost the card the money was on from moving from my shelter so they updated my mailing address. Well I hope they did to receive a new card because my mom is just there and was never notified by the Green Dot that anything was in my account.
I’ve been trying to get in touch with customer service because the lady who helped told me for my card to come within 2 days I have to pay the 15 so I said, "No problem. Take it off the card." But I have yet to receive the card and now every time I’ve called they hang up on me when I tell them the issue or I cannot get in touch with anyone and call multiple times throughout the day. The social and the birthdate they ask for in automated call says they don’t have anything of my account numbers that I’m inserting but when I spoke to the lady the other day they wasn’t able to see my account with no problem. They are very rude and hang up or just keep trying to transfer you to people who don’t even know what to do to your account which baffles my mind. It makes no sense. I’m like in a hole and this money could help. I’m pregnant and have a 3 year old already and this money is my money and they are playing with my money.
I received an email yesterday morning stating that they now temporarily closed my account for reasons I have no idea and when I call for help it’s such a hassle they just want your money and act stupid as if they don’t know what’s going on. I’m very upset and I have brought the police into it because this isn’t right that they take people money. I have 2400 that the IRS sent to that account and they verified the account and all and they said, "Do not let them play you" or "Take your money because it’s happened." Very unprofessional and it sucks because I’m homeless and need my money ASAP. ** is sad. I’m very disappointed and was very excited to be able to have a card I can use for daily things but they just are so unprofessional and just so bad to you it makes no sense. Forget this bank and do not use them they steal your money. Still waiting to receive my card that I paid 15 dollars extra for just to have it go to my new residence. I’m so upset.

I bought this card at a 7-11 in Hollywood. I was planning to load money on the card through Moneypak. After taking the card out of the plastic and entering the number for the FIRST time ever onto the activation site, it says "card invalid". How is the card invalid if I JUST took it out of the plastic and it's never been used?? I cannot speak with a customer service rep because your card has to be activated to do that. It's a backwards argument they have – “Call to activate your card but we can’t get your account info if your card isn’t activated...” That makes no sense whatsoever. A class action lawsuit needs to be taken out against Green Dot ASAP so they don't do this to others.

I check out of a hotel on the 5th of December and $100 deposit money that was credited back to my account on the 5th has yet to be released by this Bank. My Merchant is more than willing to provide a release code as well as a letter stating that the funds have been released. However Green Dot is refusing to give me my money and keep telling me I need to wait until the 19th... Christmas is right around the corner... There should be no reason why they are holding my money from me considering the merchant is more than willing to verify that they have released the funds on their end.

No amount of money is too small and no amount is too large when do you take care of the very people that helped put you in the position you're in now. Just because someone you owe money to don't answer the phone or an email you just say, "Forget it." As I was on the third day and I made an attempt I called Green Dot 67 times. As I was doing so the day was not over and right before my eyes the resolution window said closed few hours before you close. As far as I'm concerned you're always closed. I call your office to no avail over and over.
Green Dot you guys should have never ever have gotten up to there. 4000 disputes you guys just say, "Screw the problem/dispute solving." That's why you have so many. Is Green Dot ran like a one man band? This is really so unprofessional. One man don't have to play all the instrument. You all should be ashamed of yourself stealing money from your customers. Please stop passing the buck. I wish I could for one year separate the complaint and dispute and make it a separate department away from the company or a few doors away ran not by your CEO. Your ears would not hear the complaints.
That way you could focus on doing what's right for the company and I could take the two ladies from Consumer Affairs that's trying to help me get this complaint resolved and your. I bet we could have your complaints and disputes would be squeaky clean if you would allow me. I guarantee your company finances would grow three times in that year. On November 25th I purchased a Green Dot prepaid debit card. I thought it would be a good idea, seeing as I was looking to buy items online. After buying the card, I realized I had to register it and proceeded to try to register. It kept coming with errors and when it finally worked, I saw that I was going to be fined. Not only did I already use 2 dollars but also was fined 8 the day after. This was money that my husband gave me and I felt so guilt ridden that I had broken down. I tried multiple times to cancel the card but was ultimately met with the same robotic voice. I was beyond frustrated and guilty.
I had also found out that I could not make any online transactions. So not only did I lose my husband's hard earned money, but I also was not able to use it for its intended purpose in the first place. I was able to max out the card on groceries and I just hope I can cancel this thing before December 25th. I don't want to be fined again. If anyone can get me into contact with a legitimate customer care person and not a robot or a scammer, then please do. This has been eating me away since the day I bought this. You cannot possible imagine how much stress and anxiety I get from even thinking about this card. It was the worse decision and mistake I have ever made. I do not have my receipt at hand but promise that I have honestly purchased this card. Someone please help me cancel this before I get fined again.

Called 3 times to activate my new card and I kept getting some girl who could not speak English! The call center is in the Philippines! She messed up my card so now I don't have any idea what address or my pin is connected with the card! I tried to go online and fix it, but it will not let me, says card number is not valid! Absolutely horrible! I have 4 Green Dot cards and I WAS happy with the service, but not anymore. I am canceling my cards and going with a company in the USA! I absolutely do NOT recommend Green Dot Prepaid Cards to anyone! Save yourself the headache!

I filed a dispute on November 27 2017 and got denied even though I had police report and proof of incarceration. My tax refund was deposited on the card and all the money was stolen. I have been getting the run around and have completely lost trust in this company. I just want what was stolen from me. I was in incarcerated. How could I have used the money. Updated on 01/13/2018: I was supposed to be getting help with a dispute that I filed way back in November of 2017. I was contacted by someone on December 14, 2017 after posting a review on this website (Consumer Affairs). The person I spoke to asked me to email him some additional information in which I did and he told me he received the information he needed to get my claim processed. I have not heard from anyone since from corporate. I would like to know what the heck is going on and why do I have to go through all this mess just to get money back that was stolen from me. I really need that money for my kids. This has been going on for two months now. This is ridiculous and unfair. Will anyone from Green Dot Corp help me get my money back. Please help!!!

I purchased a Green Dot card from the Dollar Tree and added $40 to it. However, I have not been able to spend it because the card keeps saying invalid. I have tried everything and still cannot get a hold of a live rep or anyone that can help me with this issue. Never again! This is a waste of time and a huge inconvenience.

This experience with Green Dot prepaid (Visa) card by far was the worst I've had with a purchase. Not only did it fail in delivering what it says to (hassle free) in its product, but as well in Customer service. This company should be banned from being in business for their hidden charges and false advertisement. The inconvenience and stress they cause by the discretion in their automated system and account misinformation should be accounted for by the company. Their no return policy that prompts locking in a customer having no control over their money should be scrutinized and reassessed by the Better Business Bureau. These types of companies should have their licenses revoked. I have never dealt with such an incompetent service paying a bill. It was responsible for causing more of a headache to something that should have been a simple transaction. I would never recommend Green Dot to anyone.

I purchased & loaded what I thought was a prepaid Visa card (actually purchased 3). When I tried to use one I had to open a bank account. What??? I am in the process of trying to get the other 2 cards refunded. No way are my 80 year old in-laws going to be able to open a bank account. There is also a 7.95 charge to use the card on top of the 2.00 you pay to purchase.

I bought 9 Green Dot cash back visa debit cards. I paid 1.95 for each card and put 25.00 on each card at cashier. When I paid for them I went to register them online like it says to and they locked my cards and won't give me my money back. There is no person to contact. It is all automated. When I emailed them they told me I have to send picture of my drivers license before they can unlock it. So I sent it and they still won't unlock my cards.
I read their reviews and I was shocked they have 4,000 bad reviews where they have scammed all those people and myself out of our money. It is also on Youtube from a news cast here in Eugene, OR. I also contacted the news station just now to tell them about the green dot card. Also holding they put this on the news again. Can't get any refunds from Walgreens where I bought all of them for Christmas gifts. I am just sick they are scamming everyone. Please do something and have all those cards pulled from all stores before many more gets scammed. Thank you so much for listening. Please help.

Cant activate card and the first time I tried the page said I had exceed my limit of tries for today and wait 24 hrs. I couldn't wait. Needed something paid then. I called. After 30 times I got someone for them to tell. They cant help cause the card wasnt register and wait 24 hrs. I told what if it doesn't work because I had just tried one time and it said wait 24 hrs. She replies, "I cant help you..." I GOT SCAM!!! Hopefully store will refund me.

I bought a Green Dot card today. Load $50. After the phone activation a customer service rep began asking me a ton of questions. With that being said there was a message left stating that I can only do in person transactions, no online orders but that's what I purchased the card for. I need help asap. Every number I call I get no luck with actually speaking with someone. This is disturbing.

I have had to call their customer service department everyday for a week now to get an issue resolved which still isn’t. Everyone I speak with tells me I’ll have a resolution by the end of the day but I have to call the very next day and go through same thing yet again. All I want is my money placed back on my card when I cancelled an order. The company has released the funds but Green Dot will not put it back on my card. This is so UNFAIR!!!

I purchased a Green Dot card a few yrs. ago, and I have never experienced any issues until now. I set up direct deposit for unemployment benefits in 2016. I put the card away and never used it for a while to save. I know it was a long time but I never used the card. I checked my balance and it's -16.00... I called Green Dot 4 days in a row and not one person can tell me where my money is. I am missing almost $1800.00? One representative told me to forget about it because it is so old. He blocked the account shortly after I spoke to him on the phone. I am beyond livid and speechless as to how this company can do this to people... It appears I may have to seek legal counsel on this matter because they are not even trying to help trace where the money is.

I purchased the cards from Greensboro, NC Walmart. I went to make a purchase online. I thought it was safe because of the conditions explained in the card packaging. However, for two weeks after I made a complaint to the card services resolution center, I was told they could not recover my money. I made the complaint within two days of the initial incident, then I followed all steps requested of me in regards to the prepaid cards.
I forwarded emails, receipts, original cards packaging, yet Green Dot allowed another individual spend my money like it was theirs?! What was the point of me sending any information about the cards, emails, receipts. I'm not understanding what company leads you to believe for two weeks they are going to recover your money, to eventually wait you out and just tell you, "Your money is spent, we can't help you now"? I feel they should have just said that after my first call the same day I called not two weeks later. They never planned on recovering or reimbursing my money. Long as their business goes on, they could care less.

It took 45 days to have them return the money but now they have cancelled the card and have stated it will take 2 weeks to receive a refund check?! What kind of scam is this!

I have had my Green Dot card for 5 months, and recently I added some money into my account, and have balance of $933.77, which I was planning to use to pay for plane ticket. When I went to make the purchase, it was declined. I found out that my Green Dot card is now blocked, and it is holding my money $933.77. It's been 5 days now, I've called many times, and just sent in online message to their customer service. I hope this gets resolved, this is very fraudulent of this company. I will attach pic of my balance on my account, and also past transactions in September. I've been using this card smoothly, and all of a sudden they block my card.

I was told that with a Visa backing if I ever had a problem with my card it would be handled. Well, I had a problem. Someone took almost $2,000 out of my account without my knowledge. I called. Told them even at what ATM it was!! (It was in my statement!) Still they denied my dispute, and said customer service has no more information. ATM machines have cameras! There's cameras everywhere now! I've never had a dispute or problem. This is unfair, and unjust.

I received the new card with my name on it. Called the phone number indicated for access. Followed all directions then used the card for Instacart. After, I went to Walmart. Attempted to use card as debit. Said PIN was incorrect. The PIN was never any different. My son and I were verifying all the steps together. There was never a different PIN. Of course we attempted to run it as a credit. Declined. After several attempts called the Greendot.com. It indicated that I needed to sign on. Online. I drove home without groceries. Signed on. Same PIN. Drove back. Card declined. Both operators wanted to explain this outcome as my fault in entering PIN. That was at all what happened.
There was two of us... Watching the PIN being entered. I am sure Walmart can produce the video of this. So then I am told. I cannot access any of my money for 24 hours. This is my money/their mistake. This is illegal isn't it? As soon as I regain access. If that ever happens. I will complain to ConsumerAffairs. Post my experience on every social media account possible. I told the employee and the supervisor this. They absolutely did not care. Just said that this was all they could do. They said they were sorry. In a monotone voice that really said... We simply don't care.

I got a MasterCard debit card just today and loaded it with 140$. I tried ordering something online and it kept denying my purchase even though I had enough money for it. I called the customer service # for the debit cards and it says I can only make in store purchases. Is it possible for me to withdraw the money out of the card? I am starting to regret putting it in the card in the first place, even though it is highly possible I put in some wrong information while registering the card.

I've registered my card and it's not working when I add it to anything. But it's still taking the monthly fee? That seems like the only thing that works! I would like the number to talk to an assistance because this is unacceptable! Is it because I am under 18? But that still gives it no right to take my money. I am not waiting 4 years. They can transfer my information into one of my parents' account if that's the problem. But I would love if they not steal my money.

On 11/29/17 I purchased a room at Extended Stay America in Knoxville Tennessee. The room was not clean as they were experiencing a high volume of customers. I asked for another room and none was available at the time, I then asked for a refund and they gave me a charge back to my card they need business day. After repeatedly calling Extended Stay it had been discovered Green Dot Bank had my money and was holding it 12 Business days. 2 weeks!! Why?? How?? Hours and hours on the phone with script reading robots outsourced from a foreign country, no resolution could be made to answer why my money was on hold, except I was an idiot trusting a subpar banking system.
I frantically called both parties where Extended Stay provided proof of returned funds and Green Dot had zip, but to just tell me it will be available in 2 weeks. Completely asinine, ludicrous policy procedures. I attempted one last time having a number for Green Dot to call to get my money immediately from Extended Stay America as they were trying to help me. Green Dot refused to call the number to expedite my funds back to me, and gave me a lame resolution of a supervisor calling me within 4 hours to help resolve the issue.
Guess what, I didn't get a call in the time they issued (shocked no one. I am sure). To the phone lines again, this time I was told it would be within the day. I await my phone call while discussing misappropriation of funds, fraudulent policies, and other discourse with attorney friends. I have never experienced such awful customer service in my life. Especially from a supposed financial Institution with so many discovered class action suits against them. I will be banking elsewhere. And joining yet another class action suit and discouraging anyone from ever venturing into this severely flawed system.

I purchased a Green Dot card on a Friday. I put 150.00 on to the card to pay myself phone bill. I come home to pay my bill. It declined to my card. When I called to see why it declined my card had been locked for suspicious activity. I had to submit a photocopy ID online. Being that I was using that card to pay myself phone bill with I had no way to submit an online ID. So now it's been 5 days since I loaded this card. I still cannot receive my money or use the card. When you try to call and talk to a customer service person they will not let you speak to nobody. It's an automated system that says they know no more information. You just have to wait. The worst customer service I've ever seen And for them to be able to hold on to your money for this long is absolutely unacceptable.

Now I see I will owe $7.95 EVERY Month. It is an endless loop, trying to figure out how to settle this $7.95 and get rid of something I never asked for to begin with. Very dishonest company. Have been on hold for more than 30 minutes after the first person stated I can’t close the account.

I purchased a Green Dot at the register card for $500.00. After trying to load the money onto my prepaid rush card it failed to load and asked me to submit my ID for verification and I would receive an email within 72 hrs advising how to proceed. I uploaded my info but never received an email. I then submitted a dispute form and was advised that I would receive an refund by regular mail within 10 business days. It has been over 20 business days, I have not received a refund, and have contacted them via email every day for 20 days because you cannot speak to anyone when you call their support number. I have not received any responses to my emails nor have I received my refund yet. This is a ridiculous company that I will never do business with anymore.

I have uploaded my documents (front & back of driver's license) over six times and Green Dot keeps telling me the documents are not legible. I have had $500.00 on this card for over a month and cannot get access to it. I have called Green Dot and when I enter my card number, they tell me the documents I uploaded are not legible and to resend them. Then I get a good-bye. The documents are definitely legible. My phone takes excellent pictures and they are not skewed, PERFECTLY CLEAR. This is absolutely ridiculous and I want my money. I am a General Manager in the customer service industry and this is the worst service ever. Cannot get a live person or my money. Please help!

I got a Green Dot card in mid-October. I tried to use it for purchases and no one would accept the payments. I was then informed I had to fill up all information online to be able to use it. After filling all the required information I still could not use the card. I gave up on using it. Every time I called to get someone on the phone to assist me took me at least 40 minutes to an hour to finally have someone to tell me there was information never filled. I got online again and again to complete or modify any errors. Got on the phone over and over with the reps to have no solution.
Finally over 2 weeks ago I called to ask my money to be refunded. To my surprise they had already charge maintenance fees and wanted to refund only what was in the card. I disputed that the card never worked and I shouldn't pay for that. The representative finally agreed to refund the full amount and said they would expedite a check and would be on my mailbox in 2 weeks. Never got it. Called back today and the rep said my information was never confirmed, and that the check was never sent. I told her I had printouts with my information, just then is when she decided to "send me a check in two weeks". I may have to make other choices to get my refund back. BTW customer service reps who answer the calls ARE NOT in the US. They are in the Philippines. Bottom line I won't use this service ever again.

I bought this card solely to make online purchases. It cost $1.95 for the card itself and they will charge $7.95 per month to do absolutely nothing. I have them more personal information than is required to register to vote or interview for a job (name, address, a bunch of previous addresses, date of birth, social security number, phone number, etc. etc. etc.) but couldn't remember how long I'd lived at my current resident (and only had three minutes.)
I chose this card due to it being advertised as "reloadable" and "use for online purchases" and neither of these things are being given to me AFTER I've already loaded $500. They are literally charging money for nothing in return. If I wanted to make real life store purchases, I could have paid cash for cheaper. "Customer service" number is a robot that does not have an option for humans or anything to help this issue. I will NEVER buy a Green Dot card again. I will be going back tomorrow to the retailer requesting a refund and if I do not receive a refund I will be seeking alternate options. Very freaking unhappy with this scam of a product.

I have had Green Dot Card for a year and my husband is an authorized user. Oct 28-29-2017 we noticed 3 transactions that weren't made by us and were made 209 miles away. I have completed a dispute form along with making a police report and sending pictures of where my husband and I were at the time of these transactions. I have disputed these items 3 times and 3 times they have denied to return my money in which adds up to $1029. I have explained that I am an ordained minister and from Oct. 27-29-2017 we were out of town and have proof. Like pictures transactions that we made at the locations we were at but they keep denying my dispute. 1 customer rep had the nerve to tell me that I should just accept the denial.
I asked her if someone stole money from her would she accept not getting her money back. So now I'm disputing again. My husband's check gets direct deposit there and we have had a good experience until then. I will never use their services again and I will dispute this injustice until I get my money back or I will have no choice but to obtain an attorney. We work very hard for our money and for us to be stolen from was a kick in the gut. Especially when Green Dot doesn't return our money. I suggest everyone to be careful 'cause this has become a headache.

Was advised that I couldn't get a duplicate of the same card and would have to get a new card number. I need the cards sooner than later so I asked for expedited delivery. I was told for $15 they would be delivered in 3 business days; this didn't happen so I called. I spent an hour on the phone trying to get through a bunch of useless prompts to be told only a supervisor could assist. I was transferred twice back into the general queue which infuriated me even more. By the time I finally got a person that said they were a supervisor I was told, "Sorry it was sent regular mail." I totally lost my cool at that point. She had no idea why it wasn't done and just kept saying she was sorry. I didn't want her to be sorry. I needed a resolution to this issue because I have a direct deposit coming soon and without the new cards I will not have access to any money until they arrive, this the reason why I requested and paid for faster delivery.
After a long and unproductive conversation she said that she can reprocess the expedited shipping and I would have them by Wednesday. I can't wait for regular mail, it's too unpredictable especially this time of year. I advised that since the first ones didn't come as promised I need them to be sent to an alternate address which she said could be done. I agreed to it because I am at the mercy of Green Dot at this point. We have been using them for years with some minor glitches but this may Soon be the end of the road. After the first of the year I may consider taking my business elsewhere. The customer service is greatly lacking, most of the time non-existent. Overall when dealing with people's money mistakes need to be minimal and corrected promptly when they do occur. Customer service needs to be handled in the US period.

So now I have to wait 2 weeks for a refund. I gave them all my information including my Social Security number and yet they couldn't verify me. I am so pissed that I have to wait at least 2 weeks to get my money back! I just think it so wrong. What if I needed that money I put on the card for gas or something? They should not be able to get away with it. I am trying to make myself more responsible with money and now this?

I was setting up the square reader, swiped my card thru Android, and did the refund like the tutorial asked. ALL my funds were taken off and put on hold for 9 days and when I called and asked to speak with a supervisor, because after 45 minutes of being on hold an agent answers says, "Let me get you to activation services" (funny I thought that's the number I called from back of card) and hung up on me. They couldn't verify my identity and because of this I could not speak with a supervisor, and my fund were being held for no reason.
As I am the merchant and the consumer in this, remember it was a tutorial, saw it actually charged amount so I issued refund immediately yet my entire card was wiped and not able to be used again with no holds or pending transactions... WHERE IS MY MONEY THEN? Refused to let me speak to supervisor, refused any information, nothing was resolved and due to this I lost the hotel I was in and now am on the streets in Colorado winter, 20 or colder at night. Rude agent, disrespectful, monotone and NOT EVEN IN AMERICA, laughed when I explained my situation.

After purchasing a refill card for my son and he attempted to use it the refill had already been used within 10 minutes of my purchase. So therefore I went back to the store where I purchased the refill and they contacted Green Dot for me and I spoke to them over the phone and went home and did all the necessary steps I was told to do by Green Dot to get an answer on what happened and was supposed to be contacted in 5 business days. And here it is a month later and no one from Green Dot have tried to contact me about my problem.
So now I’m out of my hard earn money and no one to try to help resolve my problem, my son really needed this money and because of this issue I was forced to spend more money with Western Union to ensure he got the money in which he did with no issues, so if your love ones really need money right away I would use the old and very reliable western union. It might cause a little more but their customer service is second to none and they will resolve any issues you may have within minutes and your love ones can receive the money they really needed without having to jump through hoops for weeks waiting on someone from Green Dot to contact you, I wrote this off as a loss and lesson learned and will tell all my friends and family member how green dot customer service is a fraud and rip off.

I purchased a Green Dot prepaid card and it would not activate. I went back to the store and they said it wasn't their problem and to contact Green Dot. Unfortunately, it appears to be very difficult to get any contact with a living person. Their automated system needs a lot of improvement. The phone nor the message to the company helped. I would really like to get my money back. I have the documentation to prove it. Thus, here I am writing a review in attempt to resolve this issue. It appeared to have worked for another customer.

I bought this card from a local pharmacy chain in the hopes that I could send money to my niece. I registered the card, set up to get a debit card and tried to the create a login account... Nothing worked. She needed that money right away. Now she's in the hole because of this. I had always be leery about utilizing cards like this. It turns out my fears have been proven to be correct. Too many roadblocks, too many hidden fees and too much hassle for something extremely simple. I will never, ever invest another dime with this company again.

I have been a Green Dot customer for many years and never had an issue until recently. I decided to try out the Green Dot paper checks and had a terrible experience. I called Green Dot Customer Support before even trying to attempt to use one since I was unsure if my method of using the Green Dot checks would work. I asked the Customer Service rep if a Green Dot paper check could be used and processed as an eCheck ACH transaction. The representative said yes but it would have to be preauthorized first. He even commended me by saying that most people wouldn’t even ask a question like this beforehand and would just put a transaction through without even asking.
Well long story short I was given the incorrect information by Customer Service and the check bounced as NSF even though the money was still being held for it to clear. Green Dot’s bad Customer Service has now cost me $50 dollars in NSF fees payable to my landlord. I opened a Support ticket to Green Dot Customer Support and the only answer I get from them is “We are sorry for your inconvenience but we have already credited the money that was on hold back to your account”.
In every email that Customer Support has sent me so far they ignore the fact that they cost me $50. I even asked them to waive 5 months of the monthly fee for the Green Dot cash back Visa debit card and I would stay as a customer but the response is that we cannot waive any fees and refer me back to the customer agreement on fees. That is not the answer I would expect from such a large company who made a mistake. My advice to anyone wanting to get a Green Dot card is to be careful! If you need Customer Support for an issue they made a mistake on you may be out of luck.

DO NOT EVER BUY A GREEN DOT CARD OR MONEYPAK YOU WILL GET SCAMMED! I tried to upload money from Green Dot MoneyPak to my account now debit card it did not work. I was asked to upload my driver lic. to verify my id. (Mind you I had used them before and had a Green Dot MoneyPak account already.) They said it would take 30 mins to a day to get back to me. Moneypak.com was taking too long to get back to me. After trying to call their 800 number they give you on the website you can not even get to talk to anyone unless you have a Green Dot debit card so if you just buy a MoneyPak they will not talk to you, you get a message and the call is dropped.
I also tried to call the number on the back of the MoneyPak card and the calls just drop. So I decided to Google Green Dot MoneyPak customer service number (From my phone) and a website allcustomercarenumber.net came up with this number 888-7681209. A guy name Matt answered the phone saying he was customer service and said he could help me and ask for my money pak number and in other personal info, I give them my 2 money pak numbers one for $500 and one for $450. I never got the money in my bank as it was a scam. Because Green Dot Customer Service is so BAD you have all these scammers online set up fake websites acting like they are GREEN DOT CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS.
Once they trick you into giving your money pak number on the back they quickly grab the money off the card. I did report this to Green Dot Fraud and of course I did not hear back and I know I will never see that $950 back and my kids will not get their Xmas gifts!!! NEVER give anyone your Green Dot Money Pak Number! The fake website guys are still answering the phone to this day. (I did call Green Dot Corp Office and report this but I see these scammers are still online.) I didn't try to call the fake customer service number back. The guy hung up on me and block my number. If you Google “green dot money pak customer service number” you will see all these fake green dot customer service websites pop up.
The one who scammed me was allcustomercarenumber.net 877 923 1397 (also note each time you google it their number changes). Some guy name Matt still answers the phone saying “customer service” if you give them your money pak number you will never see your money. I 100% Blame Green Dot for this because their customer service is so bad and you can't even get a person on the phone unless you buy a green dot prepaid card. Can you believe that! So DONT EVER BUY A GREEN DOT ANYTHING. Go with ACCOUNT NOW CARD or CAPITAL ONE CARD. They have great customer service and you can always get someone on the phone to help you and you never have any problems verifying your info.
Note I'm a savvy online marketer and I got scammed so this can happen to anyone. I'm so pissed off I will be putting up some 'Don't buy or use GreenDot Cards or Money Paks' websites, campaigns and blogs. After what happened to me and reading all the horrible reviews on here I see GREEN DOT is truly a horrible ripoff company! I will be contacting my contacts at the FTC and FBI to do something about this predator company! Have a Happy Christmas because I will not be having one thanks to GREEN DOT!!!

I bought a Green Dot card today. Load $300. After the phone activation a customer service rep began asking me a ton of random questions about past vehicle information that I no longer have possession of. With that being said there was a message left stating that I can only do in person transactions, no online orders but that's what I purchased the card for. I need help asap. Every number I call I get no luck with actually speaking with someone.

This is possibly the most frustrating experience of my life. My son was given $50 Green Dot gift card as birthday gift. When we try to activate the card there is error message "invalid number." Without registering your card, there is absolutely NO WAY to get any help. You cannot call the bank or Walmart. All numbers are automated and begin by entering card number... which is invalid. Walmart store cannot help without a receipt. It is an endless cycle of trying to get help and having no possible avenue for that help... for 8 months! Basically Green Dot Bank stole $50 from a grandmother at Walmart. It is shameless. Please beware when you purchase these cards. If you cannot get past step one then your money is lost.

I loved my Green Dot card, until I started realizing that Green Dot Bank for some reason haven’t refunded my account. I placed an order. They GrubHub “Pollo Tropical” over $20. GrubHub got hold of me and send me the authorization transaction ID. There is no customer service or FAQ. Or even a place to send an email. This was Oct 31st. It’s almost December. Green Dot have never made a cancellation or refund back money GrubHub refunded to them.
I’m very upset because seems like it’s a great debit card as long as you keep your transactions at all times under surveillance... Sadly a great card from a bank, cant be trusted to get your transactions straight. Super headache! I encourage people to look other options. So far that’s only downside of the Green Dot Bank experience. That’s a deal breaker to have to literally watch your money constantly because bank can’t work and make things easy for me as a customer. I Hope one day they can fix that huge problem and I get my money back.
Reminds me Las Vegas casinos. I don’t even drink or gamble. Went out there and had no cash on me, stuck in debit card from other bank. The end of story is... I got stolen $200 the bank. I twice two different casinos try to withdraw money $200 but never took money. I canceled transactions b use was $10 withdrawal fee. I didn’t got a taxi. I kept walking on heels to the Luxor Hotel. To find out later even I requested to open an investigation and they said I did withdraw money. ATM are supposed to have cameras. I never leave atm machine without making sure screen it’s out of my account entirely. Money was never dispensed from automated machine. I honestly don’t trust banks or atm because there is no real honesty from them to the customer when it’s about money. Good luck???

We have the Green Dot reloadable card that charges 9.99 A month but at the end of the 12 month term you get up to $100 dollars back. It worked great and our 2 main direct deposits always came at the same time. My social security payments came 4 days before scheduled and my husband's paycheck always came 2 days early. Immediately after being with them for a year our deposits no longer come early. Don't think that's how you should treat long term customers.

When I got my card I went home and registered it and there were so many questions that I thought were unnecessary so I might've screwed up my information but for some reason I can't use my card online. I having been dealing with this card for over a year. Everything is good until you have a problem and need to talk to someone about a charge or a disputing. You might as well let it stay. They are no help with the worst service. One reason I have to get a real bank card???

I was charged multiple times in different amounts on the same day. It left my negative over $700 which I immediately address to the dispute office at Green Dot. I got copies of the merchant who the card states that made that transaction showing that they only charged me once and it was put back on my card the next day. I did not received service from the merchant because when they swipe my card it said insufficient funds. I gave them the copy from the merchant showing what they charged and what they returned on my card. This case was open twice for the same issue. The first time I was denied because they said the merchant stated it was true charges. The second time I was denied because they said it is a copy of the original complaint. Each time before I submitted the dispute I talked to someone on the phone in the dispute office.

As the subject line indicates, we've been very happy customers of Green Dot with very few issues that were addressed to our satisfaction... UNTIL about a month ago. My husband’s card was cloned and used in California (we live in Pennsylvania) for $150.00 in phone card purchases at a Rite Aid store there. This issue was resolved to our satisfaction and the money returned. We should have left well enough alone. Then we decided to get my husband a card (a second card) using my account. In other words we were closing his Green Dot account. The request for a second card in his name went thru, the fee deducted from my account. We transferred his direct deposits over to my existing account. We never received his card.
Issue 1. Was they deactivated (on their end not mine) my existing card I had been using while sending new cards, one in my name and one in my husband’s name. I said ok but how did these new cards get activated because we didn't even have them yet. Apparently someone on Green Dot’s end activated my new card for me (can anyone say thief?). When the card (only 1 and in my name only) came it was already deactivated because I had to report it stolen. Then they were sending NEW (different card numbers ONLY the last 4 digits were changed as well as expiration date and CCV on the back) cards. AND only 1 card was issued in my name only. My husband never received his card.
The reasons we went with Green Dot to begin with was no B.S. fees that most banks/credit unions impose. No NSF fees because you can't spend what isn't there. Come to find out banks/credit unions now offers an option that protects you from NSF fees. It's called "opting out". You can't spend what isn't there. I believe the biggest issue for most people, based on the reviews I've read here is a communication issue. When I would call (and that wasn't often until very recently) the person I spoke with 90% of the time didn't have a good grasp of the English language and had a very heavy accent. Understanding each other was extremely difficult. If you want to give good customer service you need people who understand what the customer is saying. It's that simple.

I just bought this card again after 2 years. Before I had no issues at all with ordering offline but on 11/24 Black Friday I purchased a card at a local pharmacy. 180$ to shop online for Black Friday and I've had nothing but issues along the way trying to register the card. It told me due to internal errors my request couldn't be completed then made me wait 24 hours to retry, I finally register the card but now every time try to make an online transaction it tells me my transaction has been declined by the card provider. When I call support and enter my 16 digit card number and the expiration date it tells me that no card with this number exists but I am able to log onto my online account and they tell me that card balance via phone, this is ridiculous. I've never been so frustrated. I'm soo close to canceling this card and just never buying from Green Dot again. All I want to do is use the card for what it was intended for not spend a week trying to get it to work.

Ugh terrible, I hate that they have a monthly fee and they take $7 out of your amount, I put $70 on the card and wanted to purchase some items online that’s costed around $60. I ended up not having enough because of the “monthly fee” which sucks.

This was my first time purchasing card. I had used it at an hotel. The hotel had made an error on charging the card and did the refund within ten minutes of the first transaction. I called customers service who just talks over you and you can tell they are reading a script. Was just terrible. I explained that the hotel has already put the refund through and my money should be credited back immediately. I have a banking background so I know how fast a refund can be done. The rep says I have to basically wait 12 days to get my money back which is unacceptable especially when you are out of town.
I asked for a call back from manager. It never happened. So I called back in and manager talks over you also and could not resolve issue. You can clearly tell that this company uses outsourcing for customer service. When I receive this refund I will be closing this card out and recommend that no one ever purchased this product. Good customer service is important and that they do not have. So now I have to wait 12 days to get my refund when the refund was done within ten minutes of the charge. SMH.

I placed an online order with a merchant on 11/16/17. The full amount was pre-authorized on the card, as expected. Part of my order was for in-store pickup and the other part was for shop to home because that particular item was not available in store. When I picked up my in-store portion of the order that same day, my card was charged for that portion of the order and went through on 11/17/17.
The next day, my other item shipped and was again charged for the amount of that portion and went through on 11/19/17. I called the merchant AND Green Dot because the pre-authorization amount was STILL being held despite the transactions for that being settled. I was told by the merchant that they couldn’t do anything on their end, that the pre-authorization would eventually fall off, usually within 3-5 days. Green Dot also told me it would fall off the card and I was originally given a date of 11/22/17 from a supervisor when the funds would be released.
11/22 came, it was still being held. I called again, spoke to a rude agent who refused to put me through to a supervisor, and I had to call back to get another agent who did put me through to a supervisor. Now the supervisor told me now it would be 11/23/17, and he reiterated that date several times. 11/23/17 came, it’s Thanksgiving, and it is STILL being held. I called again, and my husband and I both spoke with a supervisor again to be told that since it’s a federal holiday, it would be released 11/24/17. Our holiday was ruined because of this and we tried to call back to see if there was absolutely anything that could be done because we really need that money to be released, it isn’t fair to hold someone’s money like that after the transaction settled, we have bills to pay and need food for our family.
When we tried to call back, the menu options were different than all the other times I called, and every time I followed the prompts correctly, it would disconnect me from the call. I almost think they’ve blocked us from calling them. It is now 11/24/17, the hold is STILL on there and I can’t get through now. I am so upset, angry, and scared because it’s a significant amount of money that we are missing. All we were trying to do was buy some Christmas gifts for our kids and it turned into all this. I’m tired of being given a runaround and all I wanted was the hold to be dropped. I didn’t think it would be that big of a problem to release it since the transactions settled. If it isn’t taken care of, I will be seeking legal assistance with this and I will be going after a lot more than they’ve held from me for the suffering we have endured from this.

Bought a prepaid debit card with $500.00 balance. When I tried to register it THEIR machine screwed up. It shut down registration and there is no way to contact Green Dot by phone. Spent hours trying. Their "customer complaint form" online is worthless as my problem isn't addressed. No phone number to get to a live person, no help from a machine. I cannot contact these people, any way. They are holding five hundred dollars of my money. I can't get it or talk to anyone about it. The feds are useless. My state attorney general is useless. I'm out 500 bucks and they just successfully STOLE it from me. I rate them the worst possible business to have any dealings with. Considering I have seen identical problems in online forums regarding this company, it seems stealing is their reason for being.

Both my debit card and credit card were damaged this weekend, and have to wait 7-10 days for replacements. With bills to pay online, I got cash from my credit union to purchased a Walmart Debit Visa card. The nightmare began when I tried to activate online. I entered all the information on the card CORRECTLY, but kept getting message that information was not correct. I then called to activate over the phone. After entered everything for an automated system, I got to speak to a customer service rep. He asked my first name, then said, "I see your last name is **. Is that correct?" He then went on ask my address, cell phone number, date of birth, and Social Security number.
After all that, he said they could not verify the information, and do not qualify for permanent card, but that I could use the temporary card for in-person purchases; that I could not use for internet purchases, or for international purchases. 1. If Green Dot could not verify my information, then how did the service rep know my last name? 2. Why did Green Dot rep tell me I couldn't use for online purchases, when my Cardholder Agreement clearly states, "You may now use your Temporary Card: (iii) at merchants outside of the United States (including internet websites outside the United States)." Therefore, is acceptable to use my card for websites INSIDE the United States.
Years ago, I would use a Green Dot for online purchases. This was before secure sites, and I was afraid to use my credit card. This is NOT the same reputable organization. There's more fine print legalize in the Cardholder Agreement, than with a legitimate debit/credit card issuer. Green Dot sounds more like Fast Eddie's Used Cars.

I ordered a card and loaded $500 in it on Nov 8. When I tried to use it, it was declined. Attempted to log in on the app and it said the account was closed. When I logged on to the Green Dot website it showed a zero balance and it showed some PIN dispute transactions; which, I have no idea what that means (image attached). I cannot get through to anyone on customer service and the automated system says "Account is Closed and cannot be re-opened".

My son father brought a 500$ MoneyPak and when I tried to load my card I had to send pic of my ID and I still never received my money. Now they saying the MoneyPak number is invalid. Purchase a Green Dot card at a store registered it online and then it told me that it couldn't verify my name and social security card. The page crashed and I'm now stuck between registering my card and creating a user ID and login. I can't access my account because my card has been registered and I can't login because it never told me to create a password or login. I don't know if my new card’s on the way which means I can't use it for the purchase and actually bought it for. Customer support number is pointless. There are no live humans working at Green Dot.

I use this card to pay my car ins and car payment using the ACH method. My car insurance never shows that they received my transactions when I look at my transactions made. At the current moment they are saying my insurance is canceled. I reviewed everywhere on my account on website for Walmart Money Card and there is nothing on there that refers to these payments. I have not had a problem in the past until now. I viewed funding reversals and all the rest of the option under transactions. How can I check for ACH payments made to this company. I have left my account with plenty of money on it for a 3-5 day clearance. I need to resolve this ASAP.

I had this card for 2 months. I paid to purchase the card and there is a monthly fee of $7.95. Their telephone customer service is the worst! I moved to a small town with only 1 bank and needed something that could be used across the US. This company advertises about the many places their card can be used. I mainly needed it to pay my cell phone bill. Come to find out my cell phone company won't accept a debit card from an online bank. I couldn't get this information from Green Dot as their customer service people can't seem to understand or don't care. I got this information from my cell phone company. I tried to use the card for a car riding service, they didn't accept this card either. I spent more time on the phone trying to find out where I could use the card and ended up canceling the card so they didn't take the next monthly fee.
I found myself in a situation where I had to have a debit card to receive money. I called Green Dot to reactivate my less than 3 month old card, that was cancelled less than 30 days ago. I was informed that that wasn't possible. I had to go buy another blank card and wait for weeks to get a new card. Take my advice, there has got to be many other better options out there. They will take your money and treat you like you are nothing more than the $7.95 they charge you, if you are lucky. Only go with them if you want to spend a lot of time on the phone getting nothing resolved by some of the rudest people I have ever had to deal with.

I bought a card for $500 dollars. I set up my account to redeem it. The website locked me out of my account. The only 2 options I had were to reset my password or log in. I successfully reset my password, logged on to the site, made a new password. Then it took me to the log in screen, I entered the new password after it confirmed that the reset and new password were successful. It said that the password was wrong.
This was a loop that lasted 12 attempts. There is no customer service line to call to resolve over the phone. The only phone line is for a prepaid credit card, I don't have one of those, I have a MoneyPak card. The phone line is also a never ending loop that will not let you talk with a person unless you have a prepaid credit card account. I filled out a complaint form, no response in over a month, I filed a lost card complaint, it said I couldn't file it and deleted my submission. I've tried literally everything I can think of, with no success. So, now my balance just sits out there to rot and they legally will steal $5.95 from me until my entire $500 dollars is gone.

I recently had my card information stolen. The transactions were made while I was sleeping. I woke up to see the fraud $1286.50 total from ATM withdrawals & fees. I called immediately and my claim was denied!!! Their terms state the most I could be liable for is $50 if reported within 2 days of a card or pin stolen. I did just that and am getting no help to recoup my loss. I'm without funds and this "FDIC Insured" Wal-Mart debit card powered by Green Dot Bank has ** me.

On October 5th, I purchase a Green Dot card at Walgreens store in Goodlettsville, Tn. on Long Hollow Pike. Uploaded a large amount of money onto the MoneyPak card at the register. The clerk need to see my I.D. which was my driver’s license. Immediately after arriving back to my house, I scratch off the back of the card with the unclosed numbers and text them to the person of who I always sent the money to. When a transaction is done you wait at least 10 to 20 minutes to see if it’s there because he has an account with Green Dot.
He called me to let me know the amount wasn't showing up on his account. So, I called back to Walgreens to ask if the clerk made a mistake (I have all receipts and MoneyPak card too on hand). I spoke to Walgreens Manager, too. He checked and said to check with Green Dot they had done something wrong. So, I called the person who suppose to had received it and he start calling and checking back and forth with them for about two week.
First, they ask about his account, he sent them his copy of his D.L. WHICH IS ALREADY ON FILE WITH THE COMPANY. Then they told him to check back in (3) days, he did then they ask him more questions about the card numbers again. They told him to check back in about (7) days. "Cause it looks like someone else got your money." Okay after (7) days he checked back with Green Dot. This time around they claimed, "Someone in New York received those numbers and got your money".
They informed him that I the purchaser sent those numbers to someone in New York (but I didn't sent those numbers to anybody but the receiver who suppose to had gotten the information. I feel, been scammed from my money transferred by the company of Green Dot. It’s been over a month and nothing was sent to my son account regarding what took place. My question is what do I need to do sued for small claim against Green Dot (we use their services of transferring money all the time but not since that took place. The amount $ 440.00 wasn't a gift to Green Dot). Can you please help me on what steps to do. At this moment I don't have his information regarding an order number which is his account with Green Dot right.

I can't talk to a human and on the non-human recording I am told they have no remaining balance. How can a $ 50 card never used have no balance? I will never buy another one and I am surprised that Steve Harvey endorses such a worthless company. I am fed up!

Green Dot Prepaid Visa is destroying my life. If I could give negative stars I would. My nightmare with this card started on 11.8.17. My account has been low on funds and I was waiting for my direct deposit to come through. After finally having gotten my direct deposit, deposited into my account... I has no idea of them inept, horrible customer service that would follow, finding out my car has been blocked, for no other reason than a credit gas been sold to my account from Green Dot and I was issued a new card while deactivating the one that I had been using for almost a year.
I was initially transferred 300 to the new card I had to go buy so a rep could transfer the money. I had no money. I had to borrow money to even get the card which I explained. I still had the remaining balance plus the credit from Green Dot on the account. I was told I had to wait for a replacement card and nothing else. So I'm ok... At least I thought. The FedEx fee was waived and the 5$ lost or stolen fee. Yes I was charged a card fee for something that I never asked for. It gets better.
I receive the card only to find out that I had to upload a picture ID and have to wait and additional 48 hrs to maybe have access to my account. Mind you this entire time I've had to use my other card account to even call in because trying to get a rep about an issue will send you to an automated response that will... You guessed it... Hung up. I talked to a ride guy in corporate account that was basically laughing at me like I'm nobody.
When I told him I was waiting on my check because of it came thru the account it would be sent back. I explained to him I have just feed and no gas to get back and forth to work. God blessed me today as I was preparing to go to sleep in the parking lot after having checked the account all day after the 48 hour period. Just so happens Will's ** dad of former Clemson Great Cole ** the former QB for Clemson... Needed a jump and have me a tip for helping him that I never would've ever thought of asking someone that needed help. But guess what again. The documents weren't legible even after I was told by a rep that they were!!! I'm waiting another 48 hrs for this company to review my license that were taken with an iPhone.
I have no money. My direct deposit didn't go through. I have an SUV and work almost an hour away and they have a point schedule and I just started!!! I'm tapped out knowing Green Dot is purposely not opening my account. I told the rep they could have the money back (credit from Green Dot) just give me what's mine and open my account for my direct deposit! Nothing I'm still broke with money on their cards. I wasnt given a email nothing, no text warning me my card would just be deactivated of the blue.
I took the pictures with an iPhone. Perfect pictures... They just ain't want to open my asking because of that lousy credit that I told them to take back so I could get my direct deposit. Mind you this is the best... The case we opened for the credit back in September. I got the credit last week after the rep said it would take 10 days. This company is a complete rip off. I was happy until there was an issue. I've had the card since last year. I told them that I was going to contact the BBB. I want people to know about this place. And they also have Steve Harvey as a spokesperson. I know it's not his fault... Not at all.... But this company is horrible.
I took 3 hrs uploading pictures that said success to turn around and call customer service to find out that they weren't. These people will scam you and never do what they say. I haven't had a callback or anything. The kicker is... I was transferred 300 of my own money initially. So if I was verified then... How can I not be now? You know why? Because of the 129 (minus the 5 $ lost stolen fee) <----can you believe that---- 113.02 is a credit from them. That's the only reason my card is still closed.
They are the frauds. I have done everything they have asked. If a class action suit ever comes up you can guarantee I'm going to have my day. Let them go to work and be stranded and have kids you can't do anything for. Let them see how that feels. I still haven't got my direct deposit either... They have nothing that warrants be a reputable company. They prey on the small guy.

The other day I had purchased a card loading $60 onto it. On the upside, the card did allow me to purchase several things at Wawa in store leaving me with a balance of $33. However, when I had went to purchase something today online it had declined it. Even though the item (a McFlurry through UberEATS) was under 10 dollars. I also had tried to buy an item through Amazon yesterday having it get declined as well.

I bought this card because it is one of the only pre-paid cards you can use internationally online. But, your information had to be verified for this to prevent scamming. That's fine and dandy, but the company insists they can confirm my information after giving them all my info and checking it several times. Without this, the card is completely useless because the only places I can use it is IN PERSON. I could use cash for this. I could have used my bank for this. The only reason I did not use my bank only because my bank had been closed for days and I needed a card for an online payment that had a short window.
Unless you wanted somewhere to store cash, this card is useless. Even then, just get a free bank account like Huntington. This has been the biggest waste of time I have ever experienced. ALSO I JUST NOTICED THE PACKAGING PURPOSELY HIDES THE TEXT ON THE CARD READING "only valid in United States" when it listed on the packaging it could be used internationally. ABSOLUTE SCAM.

Card was supposed to be a temporary fix whilst I waited for a replacement with my usual bank, but also looked for a long term pre-paid provider if things worked out. Buying process was simple - Rite Aid recommended the card, 300+ loaded on, walked out. No feeling that this would be anything but pleasant. First and final hurdle - I could not be verified even though details are perfect. Fought with a well-designed "anything-but-an-operator" phone system until I got hold of someone. Admittedly they were well spoken and pleasant to speak to, but bluntly told me I couldn't re-verify and I could use the card in stores only - which is absolutely pointless.
Requested a complete refund and was assured I would get one within 2 weeks but had no confirmation other than a verbal one and nothing visible in the online portal. Given what I have now read in reviews, this is rather common and part of me is very concerned. It's worrying how easy it is to pick up one of these, hand over money in good faith and then refuse to print warnings on the box about how an unvalidated card is rendered pretty much useless. Rating as is appropriate, pending successful outcome of a complete waste of my time.

Right off the bat, I couldn't use my card. I tried to register it, and had to do a CAPTCHA. I passed it, and the screen said "ok" which I clicked on three times which then changed the screen to "You have been locked out for 24 hours." What the hell? Then, after waiting a full day, I registered my card successfully today. Only, now it says I can't use my card online. It LITERALLY says on the terms I can use it anywhere, online, where VISA cards are accepted. Green Dot is utter **, and I don't know how they haven't been shut down for fraud. Their verification questions made no sense either, asking which towns I've lived in. I haven't lived in any of the ones given, but to that, they said I was wrong! Unbelievable, I should never have trusted this company.

I received two Green Dot gift cards with $200 on each card. When I try to activate the cards online and over the phone all I get is "invalid card". This is highly upsetting as I have $400 trapped on these cards that I cannot access. Additionally, the phone system will not allow me to speak with anyone to address this situation. It repeatedly insists that I activate the card which is the entire problem. I am extremely dissatisfied with this service and feel like this is a huge scam as I have read that many other people are having the same problem and getting the same run around!!!!

I recently purchased a Visa Green Dot prepaid card to buy some things online but after trying to register the card I did not feel safe putting all my information including my social security number on their website for a prepaid card. After realizing I needed to put in my social I decided to call the company to request a refund and was quickly able to talk to a customer service personnel who took my information and said it would take about two weeks for the refund to reach me.
It's now been a full month I have not received my refund, I continue to try to contact the company to see if they entered in my mailing address right and there's no way I can contact anybody. Every time I call they ask for me to put in the 16 digit code on the card and then the 3-digit security code so I enter that information and it constantly tells me this is an incorrect card number and it won't let me speak to anybody. This has become extremely aggravating and I will not use their services again after this.

I have had this card for years. I recently lost my card and called 10/23/17 to request a replacement. Requested expedited service. Never received the replacement card. On 11/1/17, I called customer service. 36 minutes and their solution was to send me ANOTHER replacement card. Was told they would return the funds charged for expedited service and I would have my new replacement card on an expedited basis at no charge. I would have my new card in 3 business days. Fast forward to 11/6/17 I spent another 38 minutes on the phone finally got a supervisor who told me I would have my card by 11/10/17, maybe sooner.
Spent ANOTHER 39:36 minutes on the phone to learn that the second replacement card was sent standard delivery and if I didn't get it today I may should consider requesting a THIRD replacement card. Told that supervisor that solution was unacceptable as I have yet to receive ANY replacement card. Told him I want to close the account I have had for years. Then he said it would take 2 weeks to send me a check. At this point I don't know what to do. I need to access my money. I need to pay rent and pay my bills but I can't because Walmart/Green Dot has my money! They also suggested I get a NEW Walmart card and transfer funds to it. Yeah let's do that since I have been able to obtain my cards so easily from them! I have confirmed my address three times! I cannot get a customer service rep in the US, it's outsourced to India.

I have to admit I was surprised to hear back from Green Dot again seeing when I 1st spoke to them they said there was nothing they could do. Upon further investigation they were able to see that the money was indeed stolen and who stole it, but unable to actually do anything about it. They did however refund about $100 for various fees and as a courtesy. Although I was not able to get the full amount back I do appreciate them looking into the matter and at least trying to give some of the money back. However they do know this is an ongoing problem with the MoneyPak company, Green Dot continues to do business with them ultimately allowing them to continue this scam. Lesson learned though. Never give anyone including a representative the information off the card. Thank you for getting back with me.

I have had my Green Dot card for several years with not many issues. 3 days ago I put $400 on a Green Dot MoneyPak card to transfer it to my Green Dot card. My wife had the card and this was the only way to do it at the time. I had issues from the beginning trying to take pictures of my ID. Somehow it blocked my money. When I called customer service Green Dot said they couldn't do anything. When I called Green Dot MoneyPak customer service the guy took all my info and said it would be on there the next morning. It was not. I contacted them again, and they said it would be another day.
Finally today I called and they don't know where my $400 is! They claim it was stolen! $400 poof gone just like that. They claim they can't do anything, but it says right on the card: "MoneyPak is not anonymous. All parties involved with this transaction must be willing to provide personal information required to verify identity." So explain to me how it gets stolen? Or how the only person that knew about the card and money was a representative? No one is claiming responsibility. This is fraud!

I bought a card on Tuesday Nov 7. I put exactly $93.00. I went home & activated it but when I tried to buy something online it kept saying check card info. Everything was correct. I try to buy another thing for 2 bucks and still can't buy. So I try to call Green Dot and they say my social security is invalid, when it isn't! I need to buy this thing online asap. I used my only money on that card! Yet I can't use it? Can't even get past the first step when I call??? Green dot better contact me and fix this! It's an emergency. I bought a Green Dot prepaid card. When I tried to activate and register the card online the website told me I cannot verify your information. WTF. I have a debit card already so I don't understand why in the hell they can't verify me. I also bought cards several times with Green Dot in the past so again WTF! The message told me that I can use the card for personal shopping but not online shopping which is what I bought the card for in the first place. While reading several reviews I see that this same issue is happening with countless other people.
Green Dot's 800 number is a joke and if you are lucky enough to get through to an actual person they can't do a damn thing for you. How hard should it be to verify my information and fix this problem. Typical. While this problem has ruined my day I really feel sorry for others who have not been able to pay for basic necessities like food & utilities because of this useless company's shenanigans! You would think that in a day of instant transactions that a refund could be given on the spot but these 2 bit cowards must want you to wait weeks for your money back while they collect interest on your money! I read several reviews where people have never been given their money back at all. Green Dot is causing much pain and suffering and they need to be shut down! Green Dot's policies need to change or this Rinky Dink, Mickey Mouse company needs to be shut down forever!

The automated system kept saying that I didnt have the right information, and hung up on me. I am very upset, and will stop my direct deposit into this account!!! I cant access my money!!! This card is not safe. Someone was able to make online purchases with my card. They spend 87.96 on flowers from FTD.com. I've been getting the run around from this company instead of receiving my money back. I wasn't even alerted that my card was being used. I think there is a security breach on the companies side. I don't trust this card and will be getting a Capital One account instead. At least I will know that my money and account is being protected.

I purchased a GreenDot prepaid Visa. Registered and activated the card. I made on purchase on Amazon. I received an email from GreenDot stressing my card had been locked due to suspicious activity. They required a copy of my driver's license. I sent that in, and received no reply. 2 weeks the card is locked. Upon going on to their Facebook page, I am reading hundreds of complaints filed for the very same problem I am having. People have lost hundreds of dollars to this scam. They send the required info, and are told they are not legible. Same thing I was.
This has become the latest scam by GreenDot. They lock the cards, make it impossible to unlock them and then absorbed the funds due to "abandonment". Somebody needs to stop this! This is illegal! People are having hundred of dollars confiscated this way, and they are unable to regain their money. I have my CC and copies of emails and messages between GreenDot and I.

I purchased a card in order to help my brother financially. I was told the money on this card could be transferred to his card. Turns out I was sold the wrong kind of card and I could not transfer the money. I never used the card, but they charge fees every month even if you never use it. I tried to cancel a couple of weeks ago but told most of it had been lost in fees. They could reverse one of the fees but I would have to call back to get the full amount. When I called back, I was told they had reversed one fee but another fee had been charged yesterday and there was nothing they could do about it. I've been dealing with a sick child at home and now I've just been swindled out of $40!!! Buyer beware!!!

I purchased this card to buy a birthday present and get it ordered in time, the clerk said I could go online and use it right away, unable to buy present online. Called Green Dot and they said have to wait 8 hours to spend my money. Complete waste. Should have bought a gift card so I could order the gift on time. Thanks Green Dot. Will not be able to get it shipped today because of your 8 hour wait. You guys failed to disclose on packaging or anyway whatsoever.

I was given two Green Dot cards as gifts. I have been charged too many fees so I decided to use the balance and close the cards. I had trouble setting up both cards to begin with so I should have known it would be a headache to use them and another to close them. I have been charged a fee on one card AFTER I used up the balance and am worried that the store I used the card will decline my purchase a day after the transaction.
The fees charged on these cards are way too high and I will never purchase one of these cards and I will never accept one as a gift again. I have tried to contact customer service for various questions and have never been able to get through to anyone. It is beyond frustrating. I have "opened" two cases through customer service already and I was let know one was "closed" within a couple hours via email without a single response from anyone. As far as I can tell this entire company is ripping people off and remaining completely out of reach to anyone who has a question or concern.

I'm updating my rating from 1 to 5 stars because once the ball got rolling my issue was resolved with a friendly voice and extra effort was put forth to make sure I was satisfied with what steps were made to resolve it. I'm pleasantly surprised and have changed my thoughts about this company. It let me know that my voice was heard when I got a response back to my review. I hate that it had to come to this but like I said, I'm more than satisfied with the result and in my case I do feel like they went the extra mile to solve it. Thanks corporate! :)

I hesitated to even get the card due to having to pay 9.97 a month just to use it plus a charge every single time I added money. Went costume shopping Thursday before Halloween with my family and apparently my card was scanned and my money was used to pay someone's phone bill. I noticed it about 15 mins later when the charge was still pending. By the time I got a live person it had actually posted to my acct. I was then told that to get my money back faster I should call Metro PCS and get them to credit my $ back. Well, hard to do without any info other than amount pd and to Metro... No other info given on my "transaction" page... Didn't happen so I call Green Dot back and finally get someone live after a stupid amount of time and was very rudely told that a dispute had been started and that I would be notified by email so I shouldn't call back because I wouldn't be able to find out anything otherwise!
"Oh, by the way, you'll be charged an extra 5 dollars for us to replace your card with new acct info..." Are you ** kidding me? I then said I'd just keep the one I had because I wasn't paying them anymore money but since dispute was already "underway" I didn't have that option so they'd waive the fee "this time". Now, I know Green Dot didn't steal my money but since they're pretty well known in this prepaid card business they should have procedures and actions already in place to take care of this type of thing...
Friendlier customer service and if the call coming in is from the United States have someone working in their call center that speaks English as their first language. That'd be real comforting and reassuring if you could actually understand everything they say and not every 3rd or 4th word. There is no email address to be found for Green Dot so who and when am I going to hear from anyone? That money that was stolen took clothes and food away from my son... Just so some piece of crap could talk on his phone. And as an afterthought, by the time anything is done about it this person will have ditched the phone and will have gotten away with it only to scan other people’s cards and do it all over again! I totally regret using Green Dot... Lesson learned, believe me!

Let me start by saying Green Dot is the worst company I have ever worked with. I ordered a replacement card on October 20th 2017. Waited 7 business days and never received my card. I moved into a new address so I called to cancel the card I never received on October 31st 2017 and also updated my address. I received the replacement card that never came on November 3rd. Obviously that card was cancelled so it didn't work however I received another card in the mail that same day. That card was also the wrong card! Due to all this activity there was a block out onto my account. I have to upload my ID... Well go figure. The website doesn't want to accept my pictures!
Supposedly I still have another card coming in the mail which I was supposed to be receiving today November 6th BUT NEVER CAME! I am so fed up! I have been waiting almost 3 WEEKS to access my money! I have an 1 month old baby to take care of, rent to pay, gas a car that needs gas so I can make it to work and continue to make it to work!!! I can't talk to a higher power no matter what number I try to call. Each person I speak with all tells me the same thing!!! That there is nothing more they can do but wait for me to receive my card and upload my ID!! I think GREEN DOT should be shut down!!! Probably taking our money!!!! If I don't get my issue resolved soon I will get my lawyer involved and file a lawsuit because you are not allowed to be holding my money from me this long with no explanation!!!!

I have had my prepaid for several years, I have my military retirement direct deposit to this account and a percentage of my job check deposited to my account. I have only one problem with this card in the years I've had it. It was bookkeeping error of only 30 dollars that just disappeared and I chalked it to a experience that would never happen to me again and lo and behold it happened again. This time the amount was substantial which I can't forgive. Friday 3 November 2017 I checked my balance and I noticed a very bad error. On 10/28/2017 I paid a utility bill of $6.83. Before the payment I had a balance of $1378.30. After the payment the balance was $983.38. The difference of $394.92.
I called to talk to a representative. After being disconnected several time I finally spoke to a representative that I could clearly understand by the name of Nina and she clearly stated there was a error and to call my wireless phone carrier and cable company to see if there was a double payment made since it was closest amount of the amount. I called both companies and they verified no double payment was made. Nina told me to call back to let her know if there was and also if there wasn't double payments.
I called back to talk to her and I got someone else and told me I couldn't talk to her because she said we just do that, so I explained everything to this woman and told me there was not anything she could do but submit an email because she just wasn't going to transfer me over there to that department handle it over the phone. I had to go to work and I would check on it after work, but before I went to work I screenshot the error. After I got off work about 9:45 pm 3 November 2017 I went back to the website and it had changed Which I screenshot it also. Still I had $1378.30 but after paying the utility bill of $6.83 and the balance this time was $1277.30 which I screenshot that balance also. I called again and talked to Jane. She was so combative, rude and wouldn't let me complete a sentence without interruption. I could not handle being treated this way and hung up. So here I am doing this.

After noticing Green Dot charges a 1 or 2 for each ATM transaction I started swiping my card more. I deposited a employee check by phone and a week later Green Dot notified me check was returned and my account was negative so they closed my account. 3 days later my employer direct deposited my check and I can't get in contact with a c.c rep to check if fund will be deposited and my negative balance will be taken care of or will they return my check back to my employer. This so called company is a joke. You can't get anyone on the phone. The automated machine hangs up on you instead of transferring to a rep if you do not enter your info correctly. I'm sick and tired of these people ** getting my money deposited sooner. I rather open up a checking account.

I bought this card for the simple purpose of receiving a reward from Booking.com. I paid 1.95 for the card. The minute I swiped it I was charged 7.95 fee. Then booking.com deposited my reward on this card and Green Dot blocked access to the money. I was asked to send documentation of my refund to verifymydocs@greendot.com and was told it would take two business days to look into the matter. I called today. Now they are telling me it will take two weeks to look into it. I informed the representative I will be suing this company and asked for a street address and exact location of this company and he refused to provide the info. DO NOT BUY THIS card. Absolute scam. They are holding my money hostage.

I have used Green Dot for debit cards for several years with no problem. No problem until a merchant took unauthorized funds from my card. I immediately contacted Green Dot concerning the situation. The representative suggested that I close that card to keep the merchant from further withdrawals. I was further told that a replacement would be mailed within (I believe) 10 days that would have my remaining funds on the new card. I received the new card only to be told that it was blocked until I send in pictured ID (personal information) and would have to go through a review. I desperately needed my funds being that I a retired. If I had known that my funds would be blocked I would have not have gotten a replacement, instead would have just gone to the bank and withdrawn my funds at that time. I am very disappointed.

On September 5 2017 around 2 pm I email this woman named Nancy **. I have a balance on my card of 4,144.55 on my account. I use some of the money. All the sudden they close my account. I contact this lady again. She stated send my driver’s license and fill a form regards claim my property and they issue my money sending me a check through my mail address, November pass and I ask her regards my refunds were belong to me. Disrespectfully she stated she felt I committed and seems like I do a pattern with this when it's my money. I called the IRS since were my refunds on my card. They told to take legal actions.
Tomorrow I will call the Attorney General to see what can be the next step since it’s no one answer the phone. IRS STATED they don't receive any check and it's a lie if they refund back the money towards them. Depends on what the Attorney General for the state of California and Minnesota the estate I reside informed me. I will take legal actions.

I purchased a card yesterday from Family Dollar putting $40 on it; and when I tried to register today the card says "card invalid". I cannot register card and cannot talk with a customer service without card being registered. This card and company seems to be a scam. Family Dollar says contact the company. It can't do anything, but there is no number to speak with anyone about the issue. Every number listed ask for card to be registered in order to speak with someone, but if you can't register your card, your money is just gone. If there was a 0 star rating this would be it. A legitimate company would have a number to speak with someone directly to resolve issues.

For the past 2 WHOLE DAYS I've called multiple times and spoken to different people and I have yet to hear or receive any information at all about my refund. At this point I'm going to consider reporting this as theft to the police because it's no way you guys have yet to give me my money back. It is not my fault Walgreens sold a faulty card to me and I am beyond angry. That is exactly 360 dollars out of my bank account that has vanished into thin air because y'all wanna play dumb and not tell me what happen to my money.

On August 9th I purchased two Green Dot Visa cards and put $500 each on them. The cards were then activated fraudulently by another party. I immediately called Green Dot customer service. The employee I spoke to closed both cards and told me the funds had been recovered. The employee verified my mailing address and said refund checks would be sent to me within two weeks. After two weeks no checks arrived. I called Green Dot customer service again and was told that the checks had been sent in error to the person who fraudulently activated the cards who then cashed them. The GreenDot employee said new checks would be sent to me within two weeks. No checks arrived and I called them again. They said new checks would be sent again. This happened a total of 5 times.
I was finally connected to Green Dot's corporate resolution office. They said they would research the issue and call me back within a day. No callback was made so I called the corporate resolution office again. Again they said they would research it and call me back. No callback was made so I called again. On October 9th I called back and talked to Fred in their corporate resolution office. Fred told me he identified the problem and that checks would be sent to me. He even told me that he would ask for them to be expedited but that he could not guarantee it and it could be up to two weeks. No checks came so I called back on October 27 and talked to Cortez. He said he would research it and call me back on October 30th. No callback was made so I called again on November 1st. In this call I was told that no refund would be made and there is nothing they can do.

I purchased a GreenDot.com card from CVS to use for certain transactions and the rep at the store sold me the reloaded card which I placed my funds on. When I get back to my office I discover that I can't use that card without the actual GreenDot card and they can't refund my money. I go back to CVS and they apologize but they can't refund my money. They sold me a GreenDot card and told me to I put the minimum amount of money ($10.00) on that card and they told me that I can use the reloadable card that I purchased to load money on this card.
I register the card and it says that they can't verify me so I can only use the $10.00 that I have on the card. I have no way of getting the funds off the card and I called customer service, I left emails and nothing. I'm told it might take a week for someone to get back to me. This is the worst piece of ** that I have ever come in contact with. The people who sell the product don't know what they're selling and the customer service number does not lead to a human so you have no way of getting your problem resolved. This is just some type of money laundering scheme it seems. The money goes in but you don't have anyone who can or will help you when things go awry. I'm going to post this all over social media because I need someone to care and I need a resolution on this fast.

2 day hold on Moneypak. I loaded $400 onto a MoneyPak this morning only to have them decline my card. Reload 20 minutes later. There no customer service number, not even an email address. I’ve been using MoneyPak for years without any problems until today. $400 is no small amount of money and I have bills to pay and a family to feed. I am extremely pissed off... Looking into legal solutions or charges that can be filed against this company. One thing for sure, the Florida attorney general does not play when it comes to taking advantage of consumers. I think I’ll reach out to that office as soon as I’m done typing this.

Been using this Green Dot card for a while now over a year. Never had any problems. My car gets broken into and my card gets stolen. Now there is a lock on the account and I can't speak to anyone regarding this issue. What sense does it make to not allow your customers to speak to a representative when they are having issues with your product. I am so extremely frustrated with Green Dot that I am cancelling this card as soon as I am able to get my money from Direct deposit back from them. I am going to the BBB as well. There has to be some type of law regarding this and the predatory practices.

I lost my Green Dot card on the 10th of October and I was told in the meantime to purchase a new Green Dot card temporarily so that way they could transfer my funds so that way I can pay bills and buy good. They told me they could only transfer half of my funds to the temporary Green Dot card. It is October 31st and I have yet to receive my new card and now they refuse to transfer the rest of my funds into the temporary card that they told me to purchase.
And now to make the situation worst I can't seem to get through a live representative anymore cause I've called in about this issue more than once and the only reason why is because the issue is not resolved. They don't give me a good reason as to why they can't transfer my funds into a Green Dot card I have or tell me why I haven't received my new card in close to 3 weeks now. Because of the inconvenience I'm having to borrow and pawn my personal things in order to get money for food and gas. I'm sitting in the dark here. Rent is coming up and I have direct deposit with Green Dot and I'm worried about this issue never getting resolved. I need help in getting access to my money. It's my money.

I lost my Visa gift card from Walmart back in May and immediately I called the Green Dot services. Within 2 weeks they told they found the card and told me the amount, they said they are mailing it to my house address but never received the card, I call them 2 times again every time. They said they are sending my card, they have the right address too. Really upset with the service. Now I am unable to call them as they don't take calls.

Green Dot bank is not right. When someone steals your card and they take 10 days for research and they will not issue provisional credit and they let someone in Guadalajara steal your info. I am very unhappy with GREEN DOT. They take 10 days to investigate and then do not issue a provisional credit. Now my rent is going to be late.

I filed a dispute for products I purchased using my Primor/Berkshire/Green Dot Visa card. The amount of the dispute was approximately $2000 and I carefully followed the instructions on back of my credit card statement. I received a letter stating my dispute was received and would be processed. It had been 90+ days and I had not heard anything from the bank so I called them on the phone.
The agent told me there was no claim being processed. After some time and research they did acknowledge my claim was received along with my 40+ pages to validate my claim. I was advised that my claim would be processed again but Visa has a rule about filing disputes within 60 days. Moving ahead I reopened my claim at least three times and each time denied because of the 60 day rule.
The bank took no responsibility and finally I received a letter telling me not to call back about the claim. I closed my account the next day but I am done looking for a solution to force the bank into taking responsibility for their mistake. The claim that was not processed correctly was submitted during the Berkshire Green Dot merge or sale. From my point of view Green Dot owns the account and is responsible for the lack of processing my claim. Very disappointed how this was handled and would not recommend anyone banking with this company.

My Accounting Department and I bought several Green Dot Prepaids from multiple retail stores. We bought these cards for the purpose of giving a bonus to our employees. Each card was purchased and loaded with cash. Once we disbursed these cards out to each employee, they were all excited about their new bonuses. However, as they tried to activate and register the cards each card gave them a prompt saying "Card Is Already Activated." Note they haven't registered anything in the system for it to give this type of prompt.
My Accounting Department immediately had them to return the cards to us. We then tried one by one with each employee. Same thing happen... even over the phone it couldn't find the card nor their social's. Now we are trying to get a hold of the Customer Service Rep but there's nobody to help. Neither 1-800#, there's no email to contact them, nothing at all!!! Receipt from store has a refund number for Green Dot, we called that number and the recording said refund takes 2 weeks then it came back and said "You have the wrong number. Call the back of the card" and hung up.
Our Company is in the financial industry. So question is how did Green Dot qualify for any type of US Financial License when you can't even get a hold of a human??? Let alone a valid email with support staff on hand to assist customers? This is the worst service I have encountered by far... simply because there's no type of customer service. Spent a nice penny on loading these cards. Now each card is in limbo with no one to help. They should close for good. Example: Square is a online Merchant (no phone assistance), however their customer service by email is great! I just think that if you're dealing with someone's money you should have a support staff on hand of some kind. If KYC is in place (Know Your Customer) then it should also be KYB (Know Your Bank)! Best Advice is to stay away and boycott!! SMH.

Went to return an item I had recently bought from a Dick's Sporting Goods store. They could not give me cash but said they could put the refund on my credit card. I swiped my Green Dot card so the refund would go onto my card. I called Customer Service and was told they can't see any transactions about it, not even a pending transaction. I know Dick's transferred the money to the card because they have given me a receipt for it.

I bought a Green Dot prepaid card at Rite Aid and put $288.36 exactly in the card to be used for an online purchase. Once I finished my order a day later I received a call from the online store I tried to purchase an item from saying that my card was declined. The balance on my card was now $280.41 since they charged me 7.95 just to use my card. Now I can’t use the card at all. I know there is money in the card but Now for some reason I can’t use the card at all since it says declined if I try to purchase something. So I can’t use the card. I tried calling customer service but no one ever answers. I just want my money back.

I purchased one of their prepay debit cards and at first was satisfied with the card UNTIL I paid a bill of over 400.00. Soon as I paid the bill my card was blocked stating suspicious activity (even though it was clearly utility bill) and they needed me to send proof of my identity, so many times I sent them my driver's license only to be told wasn't proof of my identity. For weeks I tried to contact a actual person with no luck and finally they closed my account with no explanation and no way to get my funds. Getting a lawyer has been my only option to receive my funds and find out WHY my card was closed. I would highly suggest getting a card from someone you can actually speak to a human being. Would never recommend this card to anyone.

Purchased a Walmart MoneyCard last month, put 500.00 on it, got home to activate it and the automated system kept telling me invalid card number. After several attempts took the card and receipt back to Walmart, they refused to give me my money back and said I have to deal with Green Dot. Have been dealing with Green Dot for over a month, all their employees are based in South Korea btw, can hardly understand them. Sent my receipt and card to them, I had 4 employees there tell me I would receive a refund check in 2 weeks. 2 weeks came and went so I called again to have them tell me they closed my case and I would not be getting check. DO NOT PUT YOUR MONEY ON THIS CARD. Green Dot will steal it and Walmart is as big as crooks as Green Dot is because they continue to sell their cards!!!

I bought a Green Dot Card to pay my phone bill, I went and loaded $45 onto the card. I tried to activate it online and it said I exceeded the number of daily attempts. Information was correct but just not accepted. I tried again today, and now there's technical difficulties. What is going on? Why can't I activate my card?

I loaded $75 onto my Green Dot card at 7-11 on Willis road. The total came to $79.95 with the $4.95 fee. I was handed a receipt and left thinking nothing of it. When I called to check my balance it showed a balance of zero. I called Green dot who told me to call 7-11. 7-11 said they had no record of the transaction. Green dot can’t help me either. So my $75 has been stolen and no one can tell me where this transaction went. They both bounce the blame on the other and I’m out of my last $75. No one has given me a resolution.

I purchased a Green Dot prepaid card for convenience of not carrying cash but I cannot access the $500 I loaded onto the card, was charged the $7.95 service charge, and no matter what number I call I cannot reach an actual person to speak with about my issue. One of the numbers I found I the internet just hangs up immediately after dialing. At this point, I am very displeased and feel that I have actually lost my $500 and will steer away anyone from investing in a Green Dot service. Good luck to you if you already have!

I created an account and they told me couldn't verify. I bought this to pay a bill. I can't use the card to pay it money is on it. I can't take the cash off of it, can't get in touch with anyone to find out what the problem is. It's not a good way to keep a customer. All of the information I gave was correct now I wasted the money. Thanks for being a bad company.

I purchased this card as a way to make two bill payments, to only have them both declined. To only be told that it will take up to 8 hours for me to use my funds. There is nothing on the card or the info where it says that it takes up to 8 hours for my funds to be available, now I may suffer a disconnect. I will never refer anyone to Green Dot.

They cut my card off without my permission and kept my money (1050.00). After a month they turned it on after many hours on the phone...then turned it off two days later again without my permission. I am a traveling nurse and because I called and had them replace my damaged card and sent to my address that I was at so they called it suspicious activity...even though it was me that called. The customer service people did not tell me it would create this problem so they sent me a new card that I could not use. It had been turned off before it even got to me. They then said to sent a copy of my ID to them which I did not do yet they said they could not read the copy of the ID I sent. Crooks!!!

When I first started using Green Dot, I got the whole thing with my name on the card and all the features. I loved it. It was a pain to pay cash at local stores to reload it, but that was more due to the store cashiers themselves not knowing what to do. So I started buying MoneyPak to reload my card. That worked twice. Then I got a MoneyPak that was declined by Green Dot of the amount of $150. I called customer service, where she gave me the wrong information to remedy the situation. Finally, after three calls and talking to a supervisor, I got a refund check from Green Dot. After that I didn't want to use the MoneyPak anymore. So I started using mobile check deposit. That worked twice.
The third time I tried to photo deposit a check, my husband had wrote me a check for $100 (which is what he had done before and it worked fine). The check got declined and I got an email from Green Dot saying that the check was declined due to information gathered from Certegy, and to contact them. I did contact Certegy, who told me they had actually approved the check, and so had the bank, it was Green Dot who declined it. So back to Green Dot customer service, who first told me the check was declined because my husband I have the THE SAME LAST NAME, and then I was told that they don't have information why the check was declined, even though it was their system that declined it.
This same situation arose two weeks later when I tried the deposit my paycheck. Again Certegy was cited as the reason for the decline, again Certegy said they and the bank have approved the check and that Green Dot declined it, and again both a customer service person and her supervisor told me that although it was Green Dot that declined the check, they did not know the reason why. Which makes no sense to me.
If everybody approves the check except Green Dot, and even they admit it is Green Dot that declined it, surely they must have information on why it was declined? But no, mysteriously nobody at Green Dot could tell me the reason behind the decline, nobody could tell me why the photo deposit suddenly stopped working, and again they failed to solve my problem. So the whole Green Dot adventure was an epic fail. I wouldn't recommend Green Dot to anyone. Go to a real bank where you can talk to someone face to face who knows what the heck is going on in their own establishment. Green Dot customer service people have no idea what's going on or how to solve an issue.

This is the second time Green Dot has blocked my card keeping me from receiving my direct deposit. I have been late on bills and had to keep wasting time submitting proof that the card was mine. For a few years everything was good.

I have tried contacting Green Dot prepaid several times today with direct deposit issues. Been getting the run around all day. After feuding with a rep with poor English about speaking with a Supervisor about my account she acts as though there is nothing that they can do. I only signed up with Green Dot to get paid a day or two earlier with direct deposit. My employer told me to contact Green Dot to see if the funds will be sent back because of the wrong bank number. But was told it is not connected to anyone account and will be rejected and returned to the employer. But the catch is waiting 2-3 business days. Really!!! That means I won’t get this mess ironed out till Tues or Wed of next week. I will never ever recommend this company or use them ever again. I have over $1000 in direct deposit that Green Dot refuses to care. I regret I even used this company. Will be contacting the BBB.

So today I bought a Green card visa. Put money on it the tried to activate it. The customer service team told me that my information was not verified. Now I’m out the 50 dollars for god knows how long. They say 2 weeks before I get a refund. Well I should not have to wait to get my money back! These guys are a straight bunch of **! This is nothing more than a scam to borrow money from you so they can collect interest off from it. Never again will I buy a prepaid debit card. Do yourself a favor and get a bank acct. Also customer support is a bunch of ** who you can’t understand. Also they refused me to talk to a supervisor. They are rude and they are a ripoff. ** bunch of maggots! Don’t do anything with this company. Total rip off!

I uploaded my ID and they kept saying something was wrong, kept transferring me to different departments and now I have to wait and be broke because I can't access my money that I NEED now! Spent my whole break on hold just to get bad news.

I have a Walmart cash card. I filed a dispute. Someone stole my purse and went to the bank and got 3 cash advance with my card. I contact Green Dot the next day but reported my card the same day. They denied my claim for no reason. Under FDIC I'm not responsible and I made a complaint with Better Business Bureau and Green Dot corporate office. I’m not taking any losses. They well be give me my money back. I'm going to contact my lawyer and sue them. I contact list of people.

Card got blocked because of a refund. I called days ago and recorded the conversation, she told me my card would be unblocked that day and still nothing. I need access to my funds on the account. I have been trying for over a week with emailing and calling and no luck getting my card unblocked like I was told would happen. Either get my card unblocked or I'm going to higher authority with my recording and everything else I have that says I should have had my card working again and unblocked.

I have a Green Dot card and I purchased a MoneyPak card for $95.00 so that I could put money on my card. When I tried to use my card it says the card was already used. I called Green Dot and they said a refund was issued for the card however I never asked for a refund. They asked me to submit a fraud claim on the MoneyPak website but every time I did it said they were unable to process my claim and try again later. I tried so many times that it said I exceeded my number of tries and Green Dot won't help me.

Green Dot has taken a monthly fee without me physically expiring the month. Of $7.95. I placed $50.00 to pay my bill and only had about $42.00 to pay a 50.00 bill. My Phone is still off. Which is an inconvenience. I had children to keep in contact with. You are placing them in danger.

I wrote a scathing review about Green Dot Cards a couple of days ago. Although the problems I referred to have not been completely corrected I was very impressed and satisfied that a very knowledgeable individual from Green Dot's corporate office contacted me personally in a timely manner and assured me they are working to correct the problem. I was happy first to know that a big corporation such as Green Dot took the time to read my review and respond to it. He was in agreement with my situation and appeared to be legitimately concerned with the problems I had. He listened to what I had to say which put me at ease.
Due to the conversation I am keeping my account with them active. I'm not doing this because the problem was solved but because they are working to solve the problem which I appreciate. I'm just a small fish in a big pond but I'm changing my recommendation that consumers give Green Dot Card a shot. Thank you Green Dot for hearing me. That is a big step for a long term business relationship.

On 2 occasions within the past couple of months my card has had a block put on it. I deposit my entire paycheck onto the card. I use it for gas, shopping, restaurants etc. I found out both times it was blocked because I was checking my balance and the automated system advised it was blocked. When your card is blocked you can't get through to a live customer service rep. I had to take pictures of the front and back of my driver's license on both occasions. It can take up to 2 days to remove the block. I was blessed on both occasions that it was released immediately.
I called to find out why the block was put on and all you get for an answer is it was due to unusual activity. If unusual activity are the previous things I mentioned I used the card for that is of grave concern. I'm afraid I'm going to be at the gas station and they block it, or at a restaurant paying for my meal and they block it. What the heck is unusual activity? If there is a problem I should be able to know what it is so I can identify the proper authorities. The other problem is how longI had to wait and what I had to go through to talk to a rep. I've waited as long as 50 minutes to talk to someone. I wouldn't recommend this card to anyone and I'm canceling mine. Get your act together Green Dot.
