I deposited funds into a MoneyPak and was contacted by the MoneyPak customer service desk (866-795-7597). These fraudsters guaranteed that they would protected my money and ended up swindling me out of my money... I was unable to load funds onto a Visa debit card even though the card was compatible with Green Dot.

I have had an acct for 10yrs with bank. I have direct deposit my payroll, my automatic payments, everything with this bank and today after 10 yrs my card doesn't work. I have no access to my money. Can't get anyone to answer the automated just says my refund was requested on the 8th but I didn't request a refund and damn sure didn't request to close my account. How can they just do that. My payroll will be directly deposited on Monday and it's already been processed and they have closed my account. Can this be legal?
I have a 2nd card with them I've had only 4yrs and tried to transfer the money from the first card to the 2nd so I could pull money out of atm but they did the same to that card too!! Finally after 2 hours I got someone on the phone and they told me they weren't able to tell me why they closed MY account... now I have no money. No way to get money and it's gonna take me 2 weeks to even get my payroll now that the bank they sent it to direct deposit closed my account and can't tell me why.
Updated on 03/19/2018: This so-called bank I call it runaround hotline closed my acct and cards with zero heads up leaving me with zero access to any of my money and after hours of attempts to speak to someone anyone with the bank I finally reached an unhelpful human that barely spoke English and all they could tell me they apologize for the inconvenience and a check with my remaining bal would be sent to me within 10 business days. Well the automated stated that on the 8th a refund was requested. Well STILL NO CHECKS, STILL NO ACCESS TO MY MONEY AND STILL CANT GET A HOLD OF ANYONE AT THE BANK!! Still no answer as to how or why a bank can just cut you off to your money without warning or any advance notice. Just one day without warning. You cant touch a dime of your cash and all they can say is, "Sorry for your frustration. It'll be sent in 10days..."
Who is gonna put gas in my car to get to work, who is gonna feed my kids, who is going to pay any late fees or return payment fees now that my account is closed WITHOUT WARNING and I have about 8 payments auto drafted each month? This is no bank. This is screw you over, take your money, do as they wish non-customer service piece of crap creditor that clearly weren't making enough money out of me so they cut my cards and accts off after 10yrs of banking with them... HORRIBLE HORRIBLE DISHONEST SO-CALLED BANK.

Green Dot Corp. has frozen my tax refund for over two weeks now. It’s keeping me from my money, and delaying access to a much-needed tax refund. I planned to use it for car repairs and to help get caught up on bills. It is very frustrating. I have a Wal-Mart GoBank card, which is run by Green Dot. After my refund was deposited, Green Dot froze the card and asked me to send a picture of my Florida state identification card to verify the account. I’ve been trying to get them to release the money for more than two weeks now. I’ve submitted photos of my ID a number of times. Green Dot kept said they weren’t readable and I’ve spent hours on the phone with customer service agents trying to resolve the problem.
They’ve been giving me the runaround since 2/22/18. They’ve purposely kept me in a loop of expectation without actually giving me what I want, which is removal of all restrictions on the account. Most recently, I provided documentation for my case on March 7, 2018. I was asked to allow 24-48 hours to process. It is now, March 11, 2018 and I still have not been updated. I’ve been lied to, delayed, and I’m concerned my issue has been put on the back-burner indefinitely. Green Dot does not deem my situation or demands to be of much importance. If you’re wanting to put stop to the runaround contact the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. They’ve started an investigation on my behalf.

I have no clue how to reach a live person. I have two cards with Green Dot. I love my card and it's very convenient especially with mobile banking. One day I was purchased food and my card decline knowing I had money in my account. I call the same number over and over again and could not get pass the automatic system. I've provide my picture id and able to log into my account. But my card is block and I still have funds in my account.

I loved my Green Dot card... until there was a problem! I have 10 fraudulent charges on my card from some grocery store I've never heard of in Mexico. These fraudulent charges resulted in about $160 being taken from my account. I noticed the charges while they were still pending. I called customer support and talked to a very nice rep. She told me that since the charges were still pending, she could block the transactions and the money would not be taken from my account. She also disabled my card and sent me a new one. She reassured me that my direct deposits would continue as normal. Well, all of this was a lie. She did not stop the pending transactions.
My direct deposits were rejected, a block was also put onto my account so I had to wait for my new card to arrive before finding any of this information out. I managed to get the block removed by submitting pictures of my ID. I then called customer service. The first person hung up on me as soon as I explained what was going on. The second rep sent me into an automated system that stated I have to now fill a dispute form out because the charges are no longer pending, but are completed transactions after that automated system ended, the phone call ended too. Both of these times I was trying to find out where my direct deposits went. I finally got a rep that made an attempt.
Although all the reps, except the first rep, were extremely rude and would constantly interrupt and did not listen to what I was saying, the last one I seemed to be able to get through to. She stated that my direct deposits got rejected by Green Dot and that I have to contact the senders and have them reissue. It is not possible for me to contact the senders to reissue. I have a roughly $110 deposit and a roughly $550 deposit floating in limbo... along with the $160 that was stolen from me. I will have another $110 deposited early next week because there was not enough time for me to change my information.
So, potentially speaking, I will have about $950 floating who knows where! This is beyond ridiculous! I am so fed up with the lack of customer service, the attitudes, the lies and the circle of completely incompetence from this company's customer service... I won't even go into the automated system. Good luck trying to get a real person! As soon as this entire situation gets resolved, I am done with Green Dot!

I have been waiting on a card to get my money off it and haven't received it yet. They sent me a card that was blocked and my tax return was loaded on the card. I also paid for a 3-day rush card and haven't received that either. This company is horrible. I have made complaints with BBB & FDIC. They continue to lie about my card that I haven't received.

Do not go to this bank! I have been hung up on, lied to and nothing but dissatisfied. I told a customer care rep NOT to cancel my card, and that I needed to transfer my money first, she went ahead and cancelled the card, and denied me expedited shipping and refused to help me. I was calling back for weeks trying to get them to do a simple transfer and they were being rude, nasty & just horrible. Steer clear! Go to Bank of America.

I'm warning every person. This bank is a big piece of **. Customer service sucks. If you lose your card you have to wait 7-10 days for a new one. You won't be able to get your money without the card. Prepare to struggle... if you expedite to “3” days 15 not even 3 days if you lost your card a Friday... Stay away from them. If you need help they are really bad with phones. Go to any other bank. You won't be happy. They don’t meet the expectations of client regardless of how long you have had them.

I was shorted 25 on my card. Kept calling and getting folk that could barely speak English. I kept telling them if they added up what I spent minus my deposit they could see my account was off by 24 and some change. It happened cause Walmart held $98 for an order I placed but 1 item was no longer available so Walmart release the $98 and billed for the items sent. It’s right there in black and white and can be resolved with a calculator but they just kept hanging up on me and telling me they didn’t see a $98 charge. I wouldn’t use a Green Dot card if it meant saving my life. The WORST customer service I have ever encountered. I guess wherever they are located they have no concept of checks and balances. Never trusting them with my money ever again. And wouldn’t recommend them to anything or anyone.

Purchased 2 Green Dot cards From Dollar General. When I went to set the cards up it told me the information was invalid. Took about an hour on hold before I could even talk to anybody. They told me the cards were already set up which impossible because I had just open the package to set them up. I filled out the fraud report online and sent copies of the cards and the receipts. They told me it would be a few days to investigate but I still have heard nothing through phone or email. When I tried to call today it keeps saying the information I entered is wrong and it hangs up. I just want my money. I put $500 on both those cards a total of $1000! I work too hard to just let my money go. I need my money back! This was the worst decision I could have ever made in my whole entire life! How can get my money back?

I have been using Green Dot cards for maybe a year. I have recently file two disputes in the last 2 months. One for 115. 00 and the other for 1,000.00. I had no trouble with my dispute and received my money back accordingly. I get my child support on this card also and it's always there on time.

When I filed my taxes through TurboTax like I do every year at the end of the filing it asked if I would like to apply for the TurboTax prepaid card and I chose yes but since I did not have a bank account to have my money direct deposited to. I kept track of my money and was told that my money and had been loaded onto my account on February 14th and my card would be sent out shortly. I never received the card. I waited 2 weeks order to card claiming that my card was not received. They charged me $5. I never received that card.
I called again for another card and I was blocked from calling. Every time I called it says that I had called too many times for the same issue and I have no way of getting ahold of anyone to find out when I would be getting a new card. Tonight (3-8-18) I checked my account balance and it said I had $0 in it. I called the 1-800 number again. As soon as I entered my information it says this account has a zero balance. I'm a single mother of three kids. My refund was around $7,000. I have bills and rent due and I don't know what to do or where to turn.

Daniel from Green Dot called after I had an experience where I only put $10 on a prepaid card, not realizing I was subject to a $7.95 monthly fee. I was very frustrated with the help provided on Facebook (Not helpful). They didn't seem willing to budge. I have yet to use my card to make sure the money is truly on it, but he said he not only restored my $7.95, but added $25 for my inconvenience. If everything happens according to the way I was told. I will be back to let you know, and if it doesn't happen according to what I was told, I will also let you know.

I bought a prepaid Green Dot card at the Dollar Tree, cause I don't do credit online. The card didn't even work for what I wanted to use it for. So I thought I could make it work by activating on their website. I immediately regretted it as they informed that they'd be charging me $7.95. I contacted them, and said I did not want that. I mean I only put $10 on the card, why would I get something that would charge me $7.95 for such a small amount. I went to their Facebook page and it seems they have a lot of unhappy people.
When I contacted them again this is what they had to say "We are here to help. Your card is not a credit product and does not impact your credit history. Your Green Dot Pre-paid card is subject to the $7.95 Monthly Charge, and is debited immediately after 1st use or day after registration. For a list of all possible fees, please review your Cardholder Agreement by logging into your account, going to the Support tab and selecting Legal.-TH". In other words they legally ripped me off by tricking me. Never Again! I contacted the Attorney General.

This is the absolute WORST company. I have spent all day searching to find a number I can talk to a real person. Y'all have locked my funds up and we never received our replacement card that was supposed to arrive no later than TWO DAYS AGO. And now we are stuck with our money locked in there. I want to be called IMMEDIATELY. People have bills to pay and you guys are literally holding money from people. How are you upholding this business?!

So I just got my card. Noticed optional unlimited use for a small fee. After my first use I got a 8$ charge though must be a mix up and find out that even though I opt out of the unlimited use I am still charged 8$ a month for using it. That is stupid and more pricey than the others I have used. Nowhere on the package does it say you will be charged 8 dollars for using. Strongly advise staying away.

I had my return sent to my Green Dot card. My return was released and they still don't have my refund. Now I can't get through to speak to anyone on the phone. I will never use Green Dot again or refer it to anyone. I need my money. I have never had this problem with any other company. Just this one. I hate it!!! Do not use this company.

I ordered 2 cards through TurboTax and only have received one. And my money has been deposited but yet still haven't received the card. I can't even get anywhere with customer service. Because they want the card number that I haven't even received yet. I'm getting a bit irritated with this and never will I go through TurboTax again.

To whom it may concern. My 14 yr old son went to CVS pharmacy and they let him purchase a Green Dot card and he put $22.00 on the card and didn't have it a day and they took $7.95 off the card and left $14.05 on the card and it will not let him use the card and sent him an email for someone name Margarita and he put his username ** and email. ** card number: ** CVC ** expiration 11/19. I would like to have my money back.
Updated on 03/23/2018: They going to send a email through Consumer Affairs talking about they been trying to talk to me. That's a lie. They have a number up there that is no good. I want my son's money back. I don't want to have to have my lawyer contact them about my 14yr old son's money that shouldn't have been able to buy this card anyway.

I set up my direct deposit with Green Dot so I could have access to my paycheck on Wednesday instead of Friday. I’ve had this about 6 months and only twice has my money gone on my card on Wednesday. It normally goes in Thursday morning to wee hours Friday morning. This makes no sense to me as I work for a huge company that has a payroll deadline because the employees have online access to payroll. I can actually view my check online before payday Friday yet Green Dot hasn’t loaded my card!! I can, with the click of a button change it to go back into my local bank account where my husband's check is deposited. If this continues... I will. I have no other use for Green Dot other than wanting my money early.

I used TurboTax to do my refunds this year. Well my debit card never came in the mail and to call Green Dot you need the last 4 of the card that I don't have. TurboTax said it's up to Green Dot to replace my card so no help from them.

We requested for my brothers tax return to be placed on Green Dot card. The return has been deposited but we did not get card. We have called every day and the machine does not recognize his account information. Then I went on FB and sent a message. I was told that they only call during certain hours and what time did I want to be called. I requested 8am as that is before he goes to therapy. They called today at 434pm. I could not get him on the phone and the representative did not give us options. I asked to speak to supervisor and mentioned that I have power of attorney and can supply. But she hangs up.
There is absolutely no way to speak with a live person and I feel as if we were scammed because Green Dot is listed on his tax return but he does not have a card and cannot get details regarding where the card was actually sent. He is not tech savvy and does not have facebook and no other way to communicate other than by phone. I will never advise anyone to have a Green Dot card in any form. I am filing complaints with every department available and will seek legal recourse if necessary. I am sure we are not the only people this has happened to, but Green Dot makes it damn near impossible to get in contact with live person.

I do not recommend Green Dot, I have been trying to get my card since the 31st of January. After the second time using the chat service it said the chat was down and it would be back up shortly, ten days later and it's still not active. I have tried to send emails about the problems and the reply is supposed to be one to two business days. It has been five days now and no reply. They are also trying to charge me for the card that I never received. So do not try Green Dot.

Purchased a card at Family Dollar, 2.85. Loaded 40.00, went to register the card and can't till one comes in the Mail. To add injury to insult, they charged us 7.95 for account maintenance. Now we are 32.00 of the 40 plus. And still can't use their "Service". Lesson learned. Run.
Updated on 03/08/2018: After getting a card and loading money on to it, I have found that you cannot access any of your money prior to receiving a permanent card. They will within two days charge you 7.95 for a continuous monthly fee. So let's say you purchase a card which will cost you 2 to 3 dollars at a vendor or store. Then you load this card with money, (ie 40.00). Now you have 43.00 invested in this card, which you can't use until you receive the new card. Now subtract 7.95 for maintenance on the account, in our case leaves you approx 32.00 Not including the cost of the card itself.
It takes 2 wks to get a working card then registering it. Added fees for using this card at even a ATM is over 5.00, (2.50 by Green Dot, 3.75 from the ATM owner) subtract that amount, and you're looking at 25.00 of your original 40.00. I ask, why even use this system. A Money Order or simply wiring money is safer and faster. Opening an account at a financial institution is even a better Idea. I closed my account. It will take up to 2 weeks or more for them to send a check for whatever is left of the initial 40 that is left. All in all, a total loss of 20 dollars. My advice, use a different method and guard your hard earned money!

I am still waiting for my card, I have been waiting 2 months and they have claimed to send 4 cards and I can't access my refund, they won't help with any questions. They just say to wait longer. I have contacted USPS and they say there was never a card mailed to me, I need help. I'm broke and have a daughter?

When I lost my card one of them told me that I would receive my card in the mail by March 1. So the next day or so I called back and this time they have me a different date. March 2. So when March 1 come I call back. Now they tell after the fact to send in my picture ID. Today is March 6 and I still haven't receive my card yet. I think something should be done with this company.

I uploaded some money to my Green Dot card a few days ago... As soon as I started ordering some things online... Green Dot put a block on my card claiming unusual activity. So when I called to have the block removed. They told me to upload a picture of my ID for verification. I uploaded my ID almost 20 or more times and each time I got a not legitable message. So when I call back to speak to someone again at customer service... They told me, "You can also email your picture ID to us as well." So I wrote the email down and then emailed a picture of my ID.
Afterwards I called again to customer service to make sure my picture was received. They had the nerve to tell me my picture ID did not pass their verification process and because I tried so many times my account has been closed and I will not be receiving any of my money back on my card. Now that cannot be legal. Not only did I send a legit ID picture... I sent it multiple times. Then they couldn't even tell me why my ID wasn't accepted. It's one thing to close my account... But to not give me my money back is robbery. That's my hard earn money... Money that I need.

My transactions have been denied from the first attempt. Now they have blocked my card for suspicious activity. Every transaction I have attempted to make is linked or for the phone number I registered my card with. I don't understand why my card was first declined now blocked. I called Green Dot. First I couldn't get a representative. When I finally figured out how to speak to a live person she was one of the supervisors who refused to let me speak to her supervisors. The following day I called back again. I tried to cancel my card which I was denied due to the block needing to be lifted. I asked for a number I could call where I can talk to someone who can likely solve my issue.
The person on the phone stated she not only had no number for me to contact but that they are not accepting any calls at this time. I'm getting no resolution with my problem nor is there any effort made with the company to try and resolve my issue. Terrible business practices. Yesterday I said I was going to make a report to the BBB. The lady told me to go ahead. They know how to deal with BBB and deal with them often. So obviously they do not fear any complaints or negative reports. Why are they allowed to practice business so fraudulently? How do I get my issue resolved? How do I just get a refund? They got paid for services not rendered and I got screwed out of my money. How are they still in business when they operate so shoddy? I'm stuck with unpaid bills and no way to pay them. Services are going to be turned off due to my inability to pay. GREEN DOT WON'T HELP SOLVE MY ISSUE. I AM SO IRATE.

If there was a way to give a below one star rating to the Green Dot Company for holding up my tax refund, I would do so. They have made receiving my 2017 Federal Tax Refund more complicated than it needed to be. First, because they do not allow for actual direct deposit onto a Green Dot Card, but require the person to go in and amend their banking information to match a new direct deposit number after your taxes are filed, only made the whole process confusing and complicated. The Green Dot Company is horrible, and the IRS went the cheapest way possible to get people their money. I also think that the IRS should have to deal with the Green Dot Company as a consumer to understand exactly the torture that we are going through by trying to receive a refund through them.

I had the card 5 years! Lost my card order new. Customer service told me 3-7 days. I have no money until then so customer service told me go buy me a new card temporarily then they can put 300 dollars of my money on there so me and my kids can have money. I did. Then they say, "No you got to go back to Walmart put 20 dollars on it then call us back." Ok this my last 20 I had to my name! I call back they tell me your name spell different. I ask how is that possible? Customer service say, "No we can’t give you any money. Just wait on your new card!" 6 days later my card comes. I call to activate. They say, "No the card has a hold on it!"
Customer service say go to Walmart MoneyCard document upload show my state ID, wait 2 business days to get approval, Nope not working so I put my birth certificate and ss# and State ID still no good! This morning I call now. They tell me email the information to Green Dot bank! Then wait 3 days to see if it accepted my State ID!!! I never load that much money in 5 years on my card. Lord why did I load 5,0000 onto my card? Now me and the kids sleeps in my car. Yes my rent late from last month now it’s time for rent again. Still don’t have my money. My landlord locked me out!
We have no food. My 8 year old take medicine every day. Can’t go one day without it but I can’t afford the 5 dollars copay so he been without medicine for 5 hours! It’s been cold outside. Very cold. I don’t have enough gas to keep turning on the car to run the heat! My son last high prom this weekend. I have no money to buy him anything to wear! His 12 grade prom! We haven’t had any food in two days. My 8 year old is dying. I stay up all night to keep them safe in my car! I need my high blood pressure medicine. It’s been 10 days we going to die out here! But I got more than a few thousand dollars but can’t touch a dime of it! Please help us!!!
Please tell me who in the USA can help me get my money! Tell Walmart to give us something to eat anytime water or anything. When you hear my story on the news and hear me how we died you will know the truth I been putting it everywhere so the truth can be seen! My phone with Cspire will be cut off tomorrow. Last time you will hear from me. I been with Cspire for 10 years before they became Cspire but my bill was always paid! Lost my job cause it’s against the law for me to leave my kids in the car and we don’t have clothes to wear no more what’s on our backs! I took it to FB and tweet. They act like they want to help me but then turn me in as spam where no one on FB would know but FB sent me the alert saying Walmart report you as spam. Updated on 03/11/2018: Yes after weeks Green Dot did contact me but 1st I had to tell the world and social media!! Once they unblock me I got my money off that card. No more for me! Burn me one time you will never get a 2nd chance.They did offer me 25.00 dollars I guess for me and my kids who went without food and sleeping in my car, So call help call it they sorry, Bad to worst now they charge me twice for everything I paid for February 20, Lord why me! I have text message to show they hit me 300 +300 then 400 +400 am talking back to back. I will share this with the world to see. Please people stay away from company like this!!! Start out 5,13.47, got block off, had 800 then next hour had 500. I took all the 500 off 'cause money was being sucked right before my eyes!!!
I did take time today to write Washington. Also A.G. And New Call me thinking I should do the interview to help others before they go through what I went through. Already laid off 3 mos. so you know my taxes all I had to my name unemployment stop in December! This money was to help us live until I gain work again, I ask you Green Dot to go in update your workers on use of card and how to handle customer issues. Update systems! I need work. Hire me. I can train all workers. Yes I am certified. Also a degree! You should see my phone bill. 32 texts back to back eat my money up. If I paid once they got paid two. Sad.

Green Dot been taking people money. I had a purchase at Walmart online. Well Walmart charged me twice. They held a payment and took money and gave it back but my 139$ that they refunded me I never got back because Green Dot would not give me my money. I talked to 2 agents. First one said I was getting my refund on the 2nd of March then the 2nd came I talk to someone else they say you will get your refund by the 5th now 2 different dates. Then spoke to this rude agent Ren agent #**. She was very rude. Told me I had no refund and all I got back was 9 dollars. They took the transaction off my transactions on Green Dot so now there is no record of it on my transactions. Now they shady don't use them.

On 2/17/18 I called Green Dot to inform them I lost my card. There we no unauthorized purchases. All seemed ok. I was told I would have a replacement card in 7 days. The card did not arrive. I called and asked was there any way I could get cash access. I was told no. I read here on ConsumerAffairs that someone was instructed to get another Green Dot card and they could transfer 300. I did that just to find out no cash access.
I called them back on 3/3/18 asking about the replacement card. It seems to be a language barrier with the customer service reps. It takes a lot to get them to understand what you need. I was told we will send you another card. I explained I can not wait another supposed 7 days. The REP said she would send it by FedEx. I said great she then said $15. I said absolutely not you charged me a 7.95 monthly charge for the additional card now you want me to charge me more money for access to my money. The fee was waived. I can't wait to see what happens next. According to what I'm reading here, my account may be blocked, the card that I receive may be blocked when I get it. They may tell me to upload documents for identification and then say they can't verify my identity. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever been through. I have been with this company for many years. What is going on!

I mistakenly thought that the Green Dot cards were gift cards, but the recipients informed me that the cards were refillable debit cards, with substantial monthly fees. After requesting refunds for two $100 cards, and fully complying with Green Dot's website’s directions for refund requests, I waited for the refunds but none came. The company representative said that I had been notified by mail of the refund denial, but I did not receive a letter.
After spending nearly an hour on the phone with the company representative arguing that I had complied, I was told that I had to provide copies of the cards, a copy of my drivers license and my credit card, and a printout of the Stater Bros. Market receipt proving my purchase. These two cards. (Two months after purchasing the cards, I had to return to the market to request a printout of my receipt, which I had not saved.) I requested a letter stating that I needed to provide the above documentation, and he told me that he would do so, but, again, no letter arrived. It appears to me that Green Dot goes to the extreme to prevent refunds. I recommend against purchasing their product.

My taxes were supposed to get deposited onto a Green Dot prepaid card, which should have been to me in 10 business days. That was on Feb 11th... still no card. I call all their numbers which take me to an automated system that "does not recognize my information" and hangs up on me. My refund is deposited into this account that I cannot get a hold of nor can I contact a real person to have them send me a new card. My refund has been deposited in this account that I have absolutely no access to since Feb 22nd. I will be reporting this company to the BBB as there is NO reason they shouldn't have a customer service phone number to deal with situations like this besides an automated system that hangs up on me. I am just disgusted with this company completely. Never again will I do any sort of business with them and I will see to it that nobody I know does either!

First of all, I could have received my income tax direct deposit without any of the fees or limits a prepaid card gives you. Second... Turbotax said the cash advance card would be received in 3-5 days. Then once you fill out the Green Dot application you read 5-10 days...very misleading. And third I receive email right away saying we are approved and our card is being mailed out. They get you excited that you might actually get your money earlier because... well let's face it...it almost never takes more than a week to receive something that's been mailed in the US unless it's a busy holiday.
I will never ever ever use Green Dot or any other advance or prepaid card ever again. My husband is on vacay and I did it because I thought we would get it early and...Yeah well that didn't happen. It was a total waste of my time to try to get my refund early through Green Dot. DONT DO IT. It takes the same time as direct deposit or MORE!! And probably the same or more for the paper check!! DONT DO IT... It is not worth it!!! :(

My husband tried to load a MoneyPak number onto his card and he must have tried too many times and it have a message saying he exceeded his limit for today. Now we have no way to call anyone and have no idea when the roll over time is. It's just been awful. Please I hope someone reaches out to us fast.

Have had my Walmart card for a year. No issue up until 2 weeks ago my card was blocked for no reason with 500 dollars on it. I called and they told me it was flagged for fraud and I had to send them a picture of my ID. I do this and it takes 24 hours for them to unblock my card. 2 weeks later I go to use my card and it is declined. It has a balance of 451 on it. I call customer service only to find out I cannot talk to an actual human anymore because they closed my card so now I am broke with no one to reach to resolve this issue.
Terrible customer service on their end. I have already contacted BBB on this matter. I would not recommend this card to anyone. Take your money out and run. How can a company hold people's money for weeks at a time with no reason and no one to even contact to resolve the problem? They are thieves and deserve to be held responsible for their actions. Sure hope I am able to get my money off the card somehow.

I own a Green Dot Platinum credit card, a GoBank Green Dot debit card and a Walmart MoneyCard also from Green Dot. I paid my monthly payment on my Green Dot platinum card using my GoBank checking account and even though the money was there... the payment was declined causing a $25 dollar payment reverse fee to be charged to my Green Dot Platinum. Keep in mind I'm using Green Dot accounts to pay my Green Dot accounts.
The last thing happening that caused me to write this review is that I went to Walmart and made a $200 dollar payment to my Green Dot credit card but, my account shows no such transaction meaning, the money is lost as I can't prove I made the payment, so said the Green Dot customer service representative but, luckily I keep my receipts. I faxed all my information to Green Dot so they can credit my money to my account. Case in point... Green Dot Bank is a thief. Up until now, I seriously doubt I'll be getting my money back but, if you don't believe me... try for yourself with Green Dot, then you'll know that what I'm saying is true.

Do not use this company. They will hold money that’s rightfully yours hostage. Some of the laziest representatives and supervisors known to man. If you ever get Yna (supervisor name), immediately ask for another supervisor. Very monotone and can care less about your money or concerns. As soon as I get my funding back I’m leaving and going to a REAL bank and I would recommend you all do the same. I’m not stopping here. I’m going to all social media platforms and letting everyone know to run from this craziness! At least a REAL bank listens and cares.

I had my tax refund sent to a Green Dot card. The return was deposited on Feb 22 2018. Green Dot failed to send me the card so I had to call and report it never received. Now I haven't received the second card yet and Green Dot is saying the money was never deposited to the account but the IRS states that it was credited to the account on the 22nd. Calling Green Dot has got me nowhere and they have been very rude.

I have my whole tax refund on my card. The spelling in my name was wrong by 1 letter. I used my card in a hotel. After I tried to order food Green Dot blocked my card. I was told to send my ID to an email. I did at least 6 times. After I reached live person I was told to wait 2 to 4 business days. It's now 6. I still haven't been able to use my card. I have bills and 3 kids. No money no food. Please help me.

I have two Green Dot accounts and still cannot transfer money back and forward. What am I doing wrong? I tried to add my Debit card to my Money Back account and I received a message that I could not add another Green Dot account.

To transfer funds from one Green Dot Card to the another, you must log into your account, go to the Pay Bills & People tab, and complete the Send Money form. The money is deducted from your account. The recipient is notified by text or email that money was sent to them. The recipient has 10 days to claim the funds. If they do not claim them, they are returned to the sender's account.

I can't believe I have been through this much stress dealing with a prepaid card company. I have finally received my personalized card and cannot use it. It has been locked. When I went to activate my card they tell me it has been locked for fraudulent activities. The only activities on my card was from Green Dot. They did a balance transfer from this card to one. I had to go out and buy to receive a small portion of my tax refund.

I closed my account with Green Dot BEFORE I was to receive my IRS tax refund, I was to receive the refund on the 22nd of February, and they haven't sent it back to the IRS yet so they can write and send a paper check. Why does Green Dot still have my money, I need it released so I can feed my family. Please do something soon or I'll have the IRS and my lawyer involved.

I have been using a Green Dot card for several years now. I recently got married. Which of course means my name has changed. I have already changed my name with Social Security over two months ago. But, I guess your verification company does not update or someone entered my social security number incorrectly in the system, I can not get a new card verified for use. I have tried with two different cards. I have contacted you by phone and Facebook. Both times, I am told there is nothing that can be done. I asked for the phone number or contact information for the company that does your verification and was ignored. I am currently trying to find a new card, that is not affiliated with you. I think it is sad and pathetic that I can not get someone to try to fix this issue. It is clearly a mistake as I double checked my social security card to verify that the number was correct. I will never use your service. I will never recommend your service to anyone ever.

I have a Green Dot Card. I have my direct deposit go it and my UBER every week with no Issue. Now a larger amount of money from IRS My tax refund they block my card and ask to identified myself. This whole time if you didn't know who I was how could you received and keep my ** money this whole time in the first place? Now I was ask for Identification. I did! Now they told me my account is closed! With all my money on it! No other explanation! Every Customer service line is automatic. They hang up on me every Freaking time. It's the end of the month. If I could give 0 stars I would! I have a bank account and only used this for temporary reasons. I loaded $500 on the card, registered it online only to be told after submitting all of my information, there was a technical issue with the site. I then called to register the card, was sent to a representative to "complete" the setup and was told by the representative I was almost good to go, they placed me on hold only to then receive an automated message. The message stated the card was not able to be registered at this time, I would not be able to use it online, get any cash from the card and could only use it for in-store purchases, I couldn't report it stolen or lost etc etc.
The main reason I purchased the card was to use it online to pay some bills as I have in the past. I wasn't satisfied with this answer so I attempted to call Customer Service several times with no help as you have to enter info and each time I enter the info it states "the information I provided is not recognized". I can't even call to get my balance to make sure the money is actually there! To say I am pissed is an UNDERSTATEMENT! There is a SERIOUS scam going on and you picked the right one to upset!!! I WILL NOT LET THIS GO and will make sure this game y'all think you are playing comes to a SWEEET END for the innocent people like me (Active Duty military) BEING SCAMMED! If anyone wants to jump on this lawsuit with me... say something now! I will also be posting this to Social Media and I have quite the platform so we shall see Green Dot!

I’ve been a Walmart MoneyCard user for 5 years now. Owned by Green Dot bank. I had my card number stolen & taken for over $120. They sent out my new cards & closed my account. Deleted all transaction history & I cannot get through to anyone because my card is invalid & my social security number was removed. It gives me an arrogant, ignorant automated message which hangs up on me. I have $5000 on the card & $120 tied up & cannot get any answers! I’ve been a loyal customer to them & this is how I get repaid!? Now I have to pay $18 to get my money off the “new” card which is not personalized since they closed my account, lose out on my $120 and all the bounced check fees that customer service told me would go through! I do NOT RECOMMEND THIS CARD TO ANYONE! Save yourself now!

I will never use Green Dot ever again. I received my refund 2/22 and they blocked my card. I need my money. I have a very sick newborn in the hospital and a 4 yr old son. I sent a clear picture of my photo id 8 times and they were saying they can’t verify. Every time I call it’s a different answer. They told me it would be 24 to 48 hours and my card is still blocked. If I don’t have my money soon I will be calling my lawyer. They have been no help but give me the runaround. My daughter’s insurance doesn’t cover her procedure. If something happens to her because I can’t get a hold of my money to pay. I’m blaming Green Dot for holding my money hostage...bad company. They’re fraud and liars and thieves. I’m a single parent. I need my money. I’ve been struggling for 4days now. I need the money to cover my daughter’s surgery. Her Medicaid won’t pay for it all???

Have been a Green Dot customer for 3 years or more. My problem began when I lost my card and had to order a new one. Received the new one but only for it to be blocked. Have submitted my DL countless numbers of times since October to still only be told it isn't clear. Decided to leave the card alone completely. Started using MoneyPak for my children. Bought a MoneyPak out of RiteAid, loaded it with 400 dollars to purchase my unborn (due in 7 weeks) much-needed things. Attempting to load my card with the MoneyPak, I get the message I need to verify my identity.
Been using MoneyPak for 4 months and now you need to verify my information? Was told of hearing something between 30 minutes to 2 days. Have read too many reviews on those having the same problem (loading 400 dollars only to be ripped off). I attempted to load card again only to be told funds have been used. Haven't been used by me, so who? Really afraid I'm out of 400 dollars and gonna be struggling to provide things needed for my unborn.

I have had to re-order my Intuit card three times now. Each time I am assessed a fee, not provided a tracking number and can hardly understand the individuals at the call center. I have requested the corporate team and been essentially denied and transferred to someone with an accent that is even worse. As a veteran of the Armed Forces two things upset me, difficulty in communication and the failure to be punctual. This is a major delay in receiving my funds. Fairly upsetting.

Green Dot stole my tax return. The IRS told me they deposited the money into my Green Dot account via Turbo Tax on the 22nd, and it still isn't showing in my account. There is NO customer service number, just an automated system. I will be taking legal matters as well as telling all my friends about this experience I am having. Green Dot steals its customer's money in large quantities, and doesn't give ANY form of customer service. I am a single mother of three and they stole my whole tax return.

I had bought the Green Dot visa card thinking it would be an easy way that I would be able to purchase something online, but there has not been one thing that has gone right. First, when I tried to register the card it kept saying they were having website difficulties then locked me out for 24 hours for trying to many times. When I finally able to register my card and went to purchase something, it declined my card even though I had enough funds. After that I called the number on the back of the card and it told me that I could only make in person transactions and could not reload it. Why would I buy a prepaid card with cash if I could not make online purchases with it? Wouldn't I just use actual cash? This whole thing is a ripoff and I'm just glad I didn't put more than $50 on the card.

I’ve been with Green Dot for like 4-5 years. Always reliable, never paid any fees. Even get paid a day early. I’ve had a few issues with them over the years but they’ve always been resolved. I don’t plan on changing services anytime soon...

On November 2017 my Walmart MoneyCard account was suspended for life. I did not receive any reason why. I filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs. I received a phone call from a Daniel from Green Dot Bank. I was unavailable to accept his phone call at the time. Daniel left a voice mail with a phone number to reach him. When I called the number provided I got a voice mail. I have left numerous messages up to February 15, 2018. Daniel failed to call me back after all of those voice mails I left for him. Walmart MoneyCard has horrible customer service. It is the worst insensitive customer service I have ever encountered. The customer service reps speak very poor English. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Phone app is quick and Easy to use. Love that can see account and routing number on the app And transactions are quicking being withdrawn no three to more days for pending transactions. Like that paycheck get uploaded a day before. Always in there the same time. Alerts timing is slow. It's hard getting through to a live person when calling helpline.

I am satisfied with my Green Dot card. What I feel would attract more customers is to offer more benefits. For example. I also have a NetSpend card and they offered me a chance to open a savings account on my prepaid card. This is great because I can save a few bucks here and there. This would be a good idea because majority of people who use Prepaid cards are sometimes unable to get a bank account. Thank you for taking the time to hear my idea.

Well the IRS deposit my refund into my Green Dot on February 22, 2018. I called and called Green Dot. I had to wait on the phone so long to talk to someone. I explained to them what the IRS. They can’t tell me where my refund is. I had my paycheck deposit on my Green Dot using the app information so I used the deposit information paper that came with the card and now my refund is not in my account. What I suppose to do about that. This is not right.

I called because there were transactions on my card I weren't aware of. I cancelled that card and received a new one in 7 business days. After I got my card it was "block" so I called and wasn't giving a reason why it was blocked but had to send in a picture of my I.D. I did that and they said after 48 hours it should be unblocked. I've called the 1-866-795-7597 number for almost a week now to get my account unblocked but it's been the same runaround... That they have to send me an email and I haven't received anything!!! I just had a baby a week ago and I can't even access my money because they continue to hang up in my face when I ask to speak to a manager!!! This is unacceptable and I need my money. On top of that I'm waiting on my income tax to come on my card. I will make sure this company gets sued if my card doesn't become unblocked today!!!

I received confirmation from the IRS that my tax refund was deposited to my account on the 22nd of February. When I checked my account there was nothing there. I called customer service and the man that I spoke to said there was an issue with the direct deposit. So here is the second day and still no money in my account. I called in the morning and the woman I spoke with also said there was a delay in the direct deposits but didn’t offer me any help as to when the problem would be fixed. She only said, "Keep checking your account."
So tonight February 23 2018 I called to check and see and still nothing. I called and talked to a agent who said there is no delay and there was no direct deposit to my account so I’m not sure what the truth was if there was a delay or not. I told her that maybe it was sent to another account because when I signed up for direct deposit I was given an account number in the form of a text message. When I received my card I got a whole different account number. I gave the IRS the first account number from the text but the woman assured me the two accounts are linked and when the deposit comes it will post to my account. But the part I’m having a hard time understanding is she can’t even tell me if the account I sent it to is correct or not. She can’t even see my account number.
I’ve never dealt with a financial institution where they can’t even tell you your account number or even check the other account for the funds. Customer service is no help at all. I asked for the corporate number. She told me there is no corporate office which is hard to believe. She then said her supervisor will contact me when she has time.
This is by far the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. How can they receive money on your behalf which by the way I pay them to do and can’t even tell you what’s going on with a deposit nor can they even check your account number to make sure it’s Correct. If and when I receive my money I’m taking it all out and dealing with a real bank. Word to the wise. If anyone is considering Green Dot Don’t. You will regret it as I am doing now. Save yourself a hassle and deal with a real bank. These people are scammers. You can’t even talk to someone in a corporate office. Shame on you Green Dot. You’re taking people’s money and providing the worst customer service ever.

So far I enjoy the card. The only negative thing is that I get charged a monthly service fee and I feel that should be waived esp since I have high deposits each month and my acct is always positive. I recently just switched over to Green Dot. Before I used a Walmart card and I loved the fact that the monthly service fee was waived each month. So really that's the only thing I dislike.

I love the card. I have major credit cards, but do not like to use them online. I keep a limit of 1000 dollars on my Green Dot to use for small purchases. No problems. Had one experience on the line, the purchase was from outside the US, which I did not know, the card was not honored that's a good thing.

I am so upset. I went to use my Green Dot debit card and it says I am locked out. When I called the number on the card, it said my card is blocked and I need to upload my ID. I did this like it asked and it said they would let me know once my ID was verified to unlock my card. I received confirmation that my ID didn't pass their verification and they will be cancelling my account. My paycheck is direct deposited on this card and I have bills to pay. I don't understand because I haven't done anything wrong for them to close my card. I am so upset. Now I won't get my paycheck this coming week.

I purchased a card yesterday, (2/22/18 at 8:35am at a Duane Reade location in Brooklyn) for my husband in the amount of $460. He informed me that he was instructed to complete a security verification, which he successfully, as of today 2/22/18 (an entire 24 hours later) the funds still have yet to be transferred to his card. We are no strangers to MoneyPak so I fail to understand the problem. The lack of communication and timely feedback from GREEN DOT MONEYPAK, is deplorable. I am prepared to file suit need be, hope it doesn't have to come to that.

I lost my debit card and requested a new one from Green Dot, I paid for rush delivery and waited a week for my card that was never sent. I contacted Green Dot on 01/04:2017 to track my debit card and the automated service automatically canceled the card that was being sent and requested that yet another one be sent to me. My direct deposit was due to hit the following day so due to be extremely frustrated, I reached out to a supervisor and the corporate office. I was instructed to go get a temporary card to have my funds transferred to while I wait for my card to arrive. A new card arrived the following day and I tried to activate it not realizing it was the one they already canceled. I was unable to use the card but was told the account information and routing number would be the same on both the canceled card and my new card.
I completed my taxes online and chose to have them directly deposited into my account on 01/29/2018. While reviewing my tax forms on 02/19/2018 I noticed that the account number I entered on my tax refund was now different from my current Green Dot account number. I contacted them immediately and was told by an agent that I should not worry as it should still go to my account. On 02/22/2018 my refund was sent to that incorrect Green Dot number but I did not see any funds. I contacted Green Dot again and was told that the account number does not exist and that again I should not worry. I requested to be transferred to corporate and was told NO ONE WAS AVAILABLE. I then asked for a supervisor and again was told NO ONE IS AVAILABLE!
I immediately contacted the tax company I used to e-file and the IRS who were both able to confirm that my refund was accepted and deposited into this account number that I was told does not exist. I’ve since reached out to Green Dot 15 times and each time I’ve called I have waited over 20 mins for an agent. The agents are not helpful, rude and often lie just to get you off the phone. One specific agent (Kate ID# **) initially told me she would get me a supervisor. I asked to be transferred to corporate instead and she told me that they did not have a corporate number. I then asked to be transferred and she placed me on hold for 2 minutes and then stated that corporate was unavailable. I said, “Ok, give me your supervisor instead.”
Kate then told me that her supervisor was not available, although she offered to get the supervisor for me 3 minutes previous. So I now have around $6,000 of my tax refund deposited into an account that Green Dot stated was closed. I have received no assistance in the matter, their customer service agents are ignorant and unprofessional. I've reported this company to the Better Business Bureau and filing a complaint with the IRS if possible.

I am extremely happy with my Green Dot card except for the ATM fees. When it costs me 5.50 to withdraw my money I get frustrated. There are times that I have to use the ATM where I work. Can't be helped. I just think that it's a little excessive.

I have had no bad experience with Green Dot, my paychecks are always two days ahead of time, and tax refund had no problem with being added to card. Every store I have tried using card at has excepted card also. And ATM rates are very good.

I had the card for a week, I put 400.00 on it at Walgreens. I paid one of my creditors and was looking to pay another this week with 268 still on my card. They told me the card was blocked and I needed to upload my ID. ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC! I uploaded my license and it said success so I called and these lying nasty thieves said that they weren't able to verify my clear as day license and my card is closed. WHERE IS MY FREAKING MONEY? I'm going to call the governor and whoever else until they get on the phone! I'm going to call the local news in their area as well! I am disgusted because of the other reviews I've read with the same experience. This is wrong and it needs to be handled. Stop posting fake responses to people on here as well, I'm not going away and I will show up at your office if I have to. Give me my freaking money.

My card got blocked and closed and the representative says fraudulent activities and told me I can't ever get a card with their company again. With my remaining balance on the card I'm asking how am I getting refunded and all they tell me is they can't disclose that information. It's my money and I need it.

On February 15th, I had noticed extra charges on my account that I was unsure of. I had called into Green Dot customer service to ask what they were and to possibly file a dispute. After waiting on hold for over 35 minutes, I was finally able to speak to a representative that spoke very poor English. The rep couldn't tell me what those charges were and asked if I wanted to file a dispute. I was asked if I wanted my card canceled and I very clearly said no, because that was the only funds I had access to and at the time, I wanted to go to an atm to remove my money first. I was prompted to go online and print out forms to send in to start the dispute. Well, later on that evening, I was able to figure out the situation with the extra charges and it was a problem with VISA that was corrected by VISA.
I called in to Green Dot the next day on February 16th to tell them not to proceed with dispute and not to cancel or suspend my card. I was assured they would not cancel. Well, 6 days later on February 22nd, I pulled into a gas station because I was extremely low on fuel. I swiped my card and it was declined. I tried a few more times using different methods, but it was declined every time. I checked my account via the app, and everything was accounted for. I immediately contacted Green Dot to find out why my card was declining. I waited for 47 minutes before someone picked up. Yet, it was another rep who spoke very poor English. I explained my situation and gave him the info he needed to verify my account. Once he was given the information, he said I would have to speak to a "specialist". He put me on hold, which I waited for 1 hour and 36 minutes before I lost it and had to hang up.
At this point, I'm at a gas station with no fuel, and no cash on hand. I called back just to wait another 32 minutes before another poor English speaking rep answered. They kept referring to the dispute I had told them to cancel and that they deactivated my card and wouldn't answer any other questions regarding my card. I asked to simply have it reactivated being that I'm in a very bad spot, but I kept getting the runaround. I asked to speak to a supervisor at this point. Well, once again I was put on hold for only 7 minutes this time. The supervisor came on the phone just to tell me that she can't reactivate my card and there was nothing I can do unless I buy another card from Wal-Mart.
I had already previously told them all that I don't use cash and I am 12 miles from a Wal-Mart and over 2 hours away from home. The supervisor showed no care or concern whatsoever and said there's nothing she can do and offered to transfer me to corporate where I was speaking to a woman named Patty who apparently runs corporate from what she told me was that there was no one above her. I asked what her last name was and what her number was, but would not provide me with either. All I was told was that she is the only Patty there. Ok, so she had said that there's nothing she can do and also showed no care or concern about my current situation. I had asked her to listen to the recordings of my previous conversations which i had dates and times of, but she wanted no part of that. She did offer for me to buy another Walmart card so they can make a 1 time transfer of $300 for convenience.
Apparently they don't listen to you when you speak because I had already explained that I have no money and no fuel in my car. She then offered to send a request to expedite the card... the next day, but I would have to decide right away because there is only a small window of time. I asked her why the next day if there was a small window? At first she had no good response, so I asked again and asked for her to do it tonight and to make it overnight. She said ok, and I said "So Patty from Corporate, you are giving me your word that you will have this card shipped overnight" and she said yes.
So here I am over 6 hours later at the same gas station writing this review of this company. I have no money, no means of transportation, no food, no water. I'm over 2 hours away from home where my girlfriend is 34 weeks and 5 days pregnant and my son is 19 months old. We only have 1 vehicle, and it is currently out of fuel. I would not recommend this company to anyone, ever.

All I did was order a TurboTax prepaid card on the 2nd of Feb. It's now the 22nd and I still haven't gotten it. Also what makes it worse is that my refund money is on a card I haven't seen yet, I'm starting to think this is a scam. When I tried to call the office I was told I could transfer the money onto another card, so I went out and got a card from Wal-Mart just to be told that it would be impossible for me to do that but that my card would be here on the 17th and it never came, I called again on the following Tuesday and when I final got someone on the line they said they could not hear me and was quickly hung up on. I can't believe this company. I wish someone could help before I'm rent is due.

After much searching, googling, and phone calling, I was able to locate a PDF form to request a refund of money on an unused MoneyPak card. The PDF form is available at https://www.greendot.com/about/docs/receiptresearch-allproducts.pdf.
After submitting the completed form to GreenDot, I received a prompt refund. I am very happy about that. My experience would have been SO much better if GreenDot had responded to my first refund request submitted using the official, secured MoneyPak web site. Submitting my refund request to the MoneyPak web site was a dead-end for me. I recommend the PDF approach instead.

Feb 9, 2018 I submitted an online request for refund of money paid for six MoneyPak cards. Unfortunately, I was nearly a victim of fraud by someone who wanted the MoneyPak numbers, which I did NOT provide. The Green Dot website states that refunds will be delivered within 7-14 days. I am still waiting for the refund. Green Dot is very hard to contact (no phone number on their website), and they don't follow up with customers who have requested a refund. I have no idea about the status of my refund request or whether they need more information. I am not impressed with Green Dot's customer service.

I have had my card for a couple years now. I have not had any problems really. I would like to change that we have to pay to deposit our money in store and atm fees at actual accepted atms. I would recommend this card to anyone who shops online or just in general want to store money in a safe place.

Overall Green Dot is okay. I just wish I was able to speak to a representative as oppose to the automated system. I've had issues in the past that required assistance and unfortunately I was only able to receive unhelpful guidance from the automated system. If only there was a number I could call to speak to someone DIRECTLY when I have a question or a problem. That's the MAJOR issue, otherwise Green Dot is pretty decent.

I did my taxes through TurboTax this year on February 2nd. I was supposed to be shipped a card that day to receive in 7-10 business days. The card was never sent on the 2nd so I called Green Dot bank on the 17th and ordered a new card which would take 7-10 business days to receive. I called back on the 19th asking if they could expedite a card to me which they said they would and the card was supposed to be sent on the 19th. Didn't get sent til the 21st. Now my refund has been deposited and I have no way to even touch it until the 26th.
They refused to overnight the card, they refused to transfer my funds to my bank account. They have given NO solution to this issue. I can only pray that the card they "supposedly" sent to me on the 21st actually comes and they weren't lying. I have had the worst experience that is possible to have with Green Dot company and as soon as I get that card I will pull every dime off and throw it straight into the garbage can!!! I WILL NEVER EVER deal with this company again as long as I live and I will tell everyone that I know about this horrific experience and encourage them never to use Green Dot also. Thanks but no thanks!

It is so bad you're given locations for loading your card, to cash it's unbelievable bad. When you call these various advertise loading a GreenDot card ability, over 20 of them and ask are they able to load the Green Dot card with cash, they state they cannot do that. It is extremely disheartening that one must chase (these many locations) to find a vendor that is advertised by Green Dot to load a Green Dot card. It truly makes you want to switch to another debit card. As a Green Dot holder for over 20 years, you would think that a company this size would do much better job, than what I have experienced.

The rate was 5.95 per month. I feel because I did not have money to put on the card the rate went up to 7.95 per month. Although the card has helped me to try and save money, the rate is high. I have not "YET" researched rates. But I am going to do it.

I have never had a problem and it's been better than a bank. Less fees and also get rewards. They always waive off my fees and offer credit cards for me to help fix my credit. I think having more rewards would be great.

Just wanted to give my feedback on my Green Card. I really do love the 2 day early deposit and everything else with the card. Only issue i have with it is it seems like the max for cash back is 100 which would be nice if that limit was a lot higher.

We received our tax refund card and activated it with no problems. But within 30 minutes of the refund being deposited it became blocked, requiring us to wait another 2 business days for ID verification for no evident or provided reason. We have been unable to get any answers or help from the customer service department and the line provided on the back of the card is dead air. Extremely disappointed in both Intuit and Green Dot as there is no reason for this to be happening and there is no support available to speed the process. This is money that people are depending on, being held for no valid reason.

Why is the monthly maintenance fee so high. Other cards only have a fee of 4.95 not 9.95. It really should be free since I have direct deposit. Even banks waive the maintenance fee if you have direct deposit. I feel it should be free since it's my money that I have to pay to put my money on the card.

I am very pleased with my card. The only thing I don't like is having to pay the monthly fee especially when you have direct deposit. Most cards limit is $500 a month in direct deposit, where you guys are $1000. Other than that I really love my card. Thank you.

My experience is good. I just wish I could withdraw more than $500 at the ATM at a time. I love how I cannot go over my balance on my card. I wish there were no surcharge fees at the Walmart ATM locations. I'm happy with the direct deposit. I'm able to get my paycheck two days early.

Already had purchased a Green Dot card. Already got the card sent to me with my name and had already put money on the card and used it numerous times before. Just got my refund. Used my card twice to pay bills and they blocked my card. I can't pay bills or buy food or wash clothes because they blocked me from using my card. Had to send an ID verification which I did and I couldn't even talk to a customer service representative. I never googled Green Dot but wish I would have because they have numerous complaints of the same thing happening to people that has been done to me. I am furious and wish I never even bought this card. I advise nobody to get this card. They're horrible and will take your money.

A young lady from Green Dot called me personally and was very concerned with my complaint. She was very easy to talk to and worked for me to the fullest. Took care of my problems sending me a card overnight. I now understand it's a big company and sometimes these things happen. I can't recall her name right now. I think it started with a J but she was a T. C. B type of woman and very pleasant. Took care of me. Green Dot does care and you're not just a number.

I can't take this. I will never use TurboTax or Green Dot again. I have been a customer of TurboTax since 2009. I never have had these problems until I decided to get a Green Dot card through TurboTax. I have not received my card. It's been since the 28 of January. On February 17 I ordered a new one still not received. Netspend has never treated me this way. I guess Green Dot was a lower bid so that's why TurboTax deals with them now. I called the IRS they told me my check was direct deposited. I called the Santa Barbara Bank they told me my check was directed deposit. When I call to Green Dot I have zero money and I still have not received my card in the mail. I called Green Dot they told me they can't do or tell me anything about deposits or pending transactions. Netspend can. They always have had great customer service. Green Dot is crooks. They're taking my money and I'm going to call Fox 23 News on TurboTax and Green Dot.
My friend and my Co worker are having the same problem. I'm a customer with four kids hard worker with no handouts expected they are sending me to specialist and one lady hung up and sent me to a automated system. I hope this company listens to their monitoring calls which they don't cause these are too many complaints on here. I feel sorry for everyone on here. It's heartbreaking to earn money in America and have to beg for it from a company we choose to put faith in and do business with. I feel sorry for the people who sit on the phones and have to answer our angry calls customers or their employees are happy it's disheartening.

I discovered a fraudulent charge on my Mastercard debit card on February 12th. Go Bank should have caught it but they didn’t so I called Go Bank to file a fraud claim. “Customer service” is outsourced and agents are extremely hard to understand. They can offer no assistance and calling did nothing to ease my concerns. I called back to Green Dot instead and was told that claim was filed and I would receive an email with details. Well that email never came so I called back and was told info given was incorrect; there would be no email sent. Are you kidding me? No one has any clue what is going on. Tonight I received a voicemail from someone at Green Dot whose accent was so strong I had to listen numerous times to get a basic understanding.
First mistake, they should have spoken to me directly and second mistake was when I called the number they left for questions and a recording told me that I had dialed an incorrect number and to call number on back of the Go Bankcard. The message also told me fraud charge would be credited but my card had been reported lost or stolen but no more info was given... I need to know what’s going on as I am expecting a direct deposit and need immediate access to funds. I called “customer service” and was forced to listen to long messages encouraging you to direct deposit your tax refund with no options to skip message. I sat on hold for about 15 minutes for the agent to tell me they had no more info and couldn’t give me an answer to my questions.
I asked for a supervisor and an even longer wait ensued. The supervisor I spoke to was empathetic but he too told me he couldn’t answer my questions. He told me he put in a request for a call from Green Dot and I should receive call first thing in the morning. I’m not hopeful that I will receive that call. I want answers and I want my money!!! I am amazed they can stay in business treating customers the way they do. This company is shady at best.

I had set up for my entire tax return to be directly deposited into the account that was issued to me along with the debit card I received in the mail. About a month or so later I received a text message from Green Dot giving me a totally different account # for direct deposit. Naturally, I was very concerned therefore I called Green Dot immediately about my concerns. I did not receive any help from customer service after quite a few calls concerning this issue. Thank goodness Ronnie from the corporate office for Green Dot called me regarding this issue.
I missed her call when she originally called but I called her back and she worked on the issue diligently and kept me informed throughout the process. She even went the extra step and notified me first thing in the morning advising that my refund was successfully credited to my account as scheduled. I am so happy to have had the pleasure of being assisted by Ronnie. Hopefully, I will never have to go through this again but if I have any problems moving forward I will always request to speak with Ronnie. She is absolutely wonderful and I will forever be grateful to her for helping me through this process. This establishment is very fortunate to have her. My problem was resolved with 100% satisfaction...

I filed my taxes and requested that my entire refund be put on account # that was sent to me along with the card I received. About a month after I received the card, and filed my taxes I received a text message in the middle of the night giving me a totally different account # than what I originally received of which I gave to my accountant and that information was filed and sent along with my taxes. I called Green Dot and was told that my refund will definitely go into the right account and that I will be able to access my funds on my card as of 2/20/18 because it was already processed by the IRS. The funds are still not in my card, and now no one from customer will not accept my calls about this problem. I am very upset and this problem needs to be taken care of ASAP!

Green Dot IRS tax refund - I have had a Green Dot Prepaid Card for several years and I have replaced lost cards before with no problem. I reported my card. Never received. I got an email that said suspicious activity and my card was blocked and I could upload my ID. When I tried to upload my ID it says card not found. I guess because the card is blocked. I tried calling and they said the card was returned. How is there suspicious activity on a card that was reported never received. I cannot even validate my ID.

Green Dot Walmart card refused to investigate fraud of approx. 3000$ in charges. We sent in all dispute forms TWICE, police report, proof of our whereabouts, canceled cards etc. We cannot be in two states charging things at the same time. Everything we should have sent was sent immediately. Contacted dispute resolution team multiple times. We are told they need more information. When asked what information do they, need they say they don't have this information. They rejected our disputes multiple times.
The "Investigative team" is located in the Philippines and to my knowledge have not contacted ANY of the merchants involved with the multiple out of state charges stating the theft should have required ID. Really? They also should have required the card's and pin number which we have. If they can fabricate a card they can fabricate an ID. What about the dollar charge at Taco Bell? They do not require ID but I didn't get compensated for that dispute either. Not all disputed charges required an Id but those disputed charges were also refused too based on the assumption that ID should have been required on the cash withdrawal charges.
All disputed charges were refused and our investigation was closed. When we sent more paperwork we were refused again. Dispute/Investigative team located in the Philippines refused to give any information as to whom we were speaking with or tell us which merchants they have contacted. They will not give us additional information as to the specific merchants that the fraud charges went to so our local police dept can follow up on them since they won't. All we can see is the state the charge occurred. My small town alone has 3 Mcdonald's. For all I know investigative team could have collected the money from the merchants and is keeping it themselves in the Philippines. They refuse any information so I do I know they haven't collected my money?
I would like to see documentation of their investigative actions or if it's confidential send it to my local police department if you truly are investigating. I believe the Green Dot dispute/investigation team is a farce. I don't believe anyone gets reimbursed for fraudulent charges. I hope to get the Attorney General for my state as well as in California where the main Green Dot corporation is, on board to investigate this company and their business practices. I feel they are actually interfering with this investigation by refusing to share merchant information with our local police dept. Charges occurred Jan 20-21, 2018.
Updated on [03/01/2018]: This is an update to my previously posted complaint regarding approx. 3000$ in fraudulent charges that Green Dot refused to refund. My account may read unverified now as they have today canceled my card with no notice and without an open card number, you cannot access the dispute department. I see that Green Dot has responded to reviews before and after mine posted here this month. The only response I received was to find my account closed this morning. When I called to inquire why (which we had to use a different active card number to get through on the line) the "supervisor of the loss dept" told me due the having filed more than 4 disputed charges (all of which occurred within 24 hours across the country) that this was deemed excessive.
For Green Dot's protection and my own the card was deemed not safe and per their "policy" they closed the card and I will not be able to open another one. If they state the card is not safe, then why are denying my disputed fraud charges and telling they were not fraud? If this is their policy why did they send me replacement cards TWICE, AFTER I filed the multiple disputes. Shouldn't they have just closed it immediately after I filed too many disputes if that really is their policy rather then send me new cards? Why was I told I could not open another one? This closure of my card happened right after I filed my trouble making review. I sent documentation/proof of my whereabouts at the time the out of state charges. I did everything timely. I sent all information requested and more. No investigation was done. They refused to tell what they had done, if anything to investigate or contact these merchants. They refused to tell me who I was speaking with, told me they were the top supervisor of the "loss depart" and there was no supervisor above them to contact with my complaint. Their "investigative team" that investigates via fax from the Philippines would not give us the names, phone numbers, addresses or cities of the specific merchants they gave our money too, for us, or our local police department to follow up with ourselves.
I asked who the top manager of the head corporate office is in California and was refused that info also. My daughter was able to see the board of directors online though so maybe we can try them. There is no place on their website to contact them. They don't want to be bothered. My husband spoke to our state attorney general's office yesterday and is faxing all of our documentation to them. I feel they may have this department in the Philippines to avoid consumer laws we have here in the USA. I feel that they take advantage of persons that don't have the means or education to know how to fight this. How do I know the merchants didn't repay the investigative team for the charges and they are not just keeping the refunds if I'm not allowed to contact the merchants myself? I like to see a class action lawsuit to get everyone's money back. The secretive nature of this company speaks for itself.

Do not use Green Dot. They are scammers and thieves. Green Dot has taken my money and I have no way to contact them. I bought a card at Walgreens that says no activation required and money is ready instantly but I cannot even activate or register the card because their website says the card is invalid and Walgreens will not help me with the issue either even though I have the card that I purchased, the receipt showing that I indeed purchased the card, the box that it came in and the clerk that sold it to me as a witness and they cannot help me, they say I have to contact Green Dot. But when I try and contact Green Dot I cannot because you must first login and I cannot login because the card isn't valid.
And after searching endlessly online for a way to contact Green Dot I realize that thousands of people have the same issue. It seems Green Dot is taking people's money and not letting them use the card so in my opinion they are scam artists and thieves and need to be shut down. They have stolen my money and I will be contacting a lawyer and will go to any means necessary to make sure that Green Dot takes responsibility for this and to let others know not to use this company.

Filed my taxes online with TurboTax as I've done previously with no problems. I received my personalized Green Dot Bank Prepaid Tax Card. After trying unsuccessfully to activate the card online, I called and was able to do so over the phone (pin # created). After checking with IRS to see when my refund would be sent to the bank I called to verify everything was set with the account only to be told that I'd CLOSED the account.
I spent an entire day on the phone with Green Dot Bank and while they could tell me when I supposedly closed the account that I have not yet been funded they were UNABLE to tell me when I had activated the account. After pointing this out to the various customer service rep I spoke to they could only say their records show that I'd closed the account. What??? They claim there is nothing they can do and so now instead of receiving the money we so desperately need right now, I'll have to wait an additional 5 weeks to receive a paper check! DO NOT USE GREEN DOT BANK. THEY MADE NO ATTEMPT WHATSOEVER TO RECTIFY THIS EGREGIOUS SITUATION!!!

Terrible experience. Someone fraudulently took the funds from our card, which we had not even registered. Someone paid their cable bill with it. We filed a claim on 1/4/18 with supporting documents. 30 days went by and we were told a new card would be mailed. Never received card or refund. Claim number **. I am now going to make it my mission to blog about our experience. I am contacting the local news channel to work with their consumer advocate to see if they will broadcast our bad experience and discourage people from purchasing Walmart Visa cards.

And so sorry but I can really barely understand the representative I spoke with last! Please help me. Not only did I really need this money the SAME DAY as which is how people normally count on when purchasing MoneyPak! But I have waited over a week now!

So I bought two more and used my husband's login! And lost ANOTHER 500$, and 200$! How and why this happened I have no idea. Please, please help me. This was my rent money. It said due to suspicious activity which there is NO suspicious activity here. I am using your service for what it’s supposed to be used for nothing else! It says cannot use MoneyPak anymore nor get the money and only request a refund! Please help.
Updated on 06/13/2018: I purchased two MoneyPaks over a week ago. I have used MoneyPak for over a year now and not sure what or what this happened but I got MPAK for 500$, and 150$. I tried to add to my card but online said I could not use moneypak and to request refund. So, I filled out refund form, and bought two more MPAKS another 500$, and 150$. Using A DIFFERENT LOGIN (my husband's) I was given the SAME error message. Therefore I lost over one thousand dollars that day!!! I have waited over a week and I DID receive a refund check for ONE 500$ and ONE 150$! I DID NOT RECEIVE THE OTHER TWO REFUNDS! That is a lot of money to just lose not to mention this was for my rent to pay online! Please please give me a call and help me please. I had my tax returns direct deposit into a Green Dot Visa card. I was checking my account tonight and $2500 has been taken from my account two days ago. There are 5 withdrawals from an ATM in Imperial Beach, CA, one right after the next. I have never even been to Imperial Beach. I called and they took my information and told me to fill out a form and send it in to them. The dispute can take anywhere from 10 days or longer. I need my money back! How can something like this happen when Green Dot advertises people to sign up with them to receive their tax returns sooner with their direct deposit. I will tell everyone to never use this service! I am so upset!

I cannot understand why they would lock your account?! I lost my card and told them to turn the card off and I would like to order a new one. I still got yet to get it delivered! And now I find out my account is locked! Why the heck do they do that?! What about the funds that are going to be deposited into the account? Where will the money go?! I got the card in the mail a week ago... My tax money was supposed to be deposited on to it... I tried activating the card but it said I needed to verify my identity by uploading my license on their site. I called to check to see if it was verified and they said it couldn’t be verified and my account was closed. It took me days and to be able to get a hold of a customer service rep who was rude and stated that my account had a block on it and that she couldn’t give me details... I asked her who I needed to contact. She said my tax preparer. I told her I was my own tax preparer and asked again whom I needed to speak to in order to get this issue resolved. She said that she couldn’t give me any details. I asked her about my money and she stated that she was sorry and said someone will call me the next business day and hung the phone up in my face. Green Dot stole my money and I want it back.

I reported my card lost or stolen over 3 weeks ago. The lady made me email my request in, and told me that was the only way I could also update my address. I get an email a few days ago saying an investigation is being done in my disputed charge. So I call to make sure my card is going to the correct place, lady apologizes and says she'll overnight it to me. The next day I try to log in to see if my payroll went through but my account has been blocked. I call customer care and am told to upload my id. But since I haven't received my replacement card I can't do that as it requires your card number. Can't get a real person on the phone either. I'm a single mom and this nonsense is going to cause our power to be shut off. I've never been a victim of theft by a company before but they've got a good game going. I will be contacting an attorney.

Bought a Green Dot Load & Go from Rite Aid for $240. I went online to register the card and said the card was not valid. Called the number on the back of the card and the auto voice told me there was no money on the card. There doesn’t seem to be a way to contact a live person to speak with. I desperately need the money to pay a bill or I’m in trouble now. It looks like I’m out of $240. I really wouldn’t recommend Green Dot to anyone. Customers shouldn’t have to go through this and feel like they’re getting scammed.

I recently wrote about my experience using the GreenDot card and at first I was very upset just because I got hit with a couple fees that when I look back at that moment, wasn’t a very minimal fee and was being completely sour about it. But after giving it another shot, due to certain situations I’ve been dealt with, it really is a excellent card. I am so sorry for being rude and disrespectful about the card in the past. And I take full responsibility for being negative towards the card and I regret ever talking bad about it. I absolutely love GreenDot.
It’s basically a bank with far less minimal fees and what not. Not to mention no overdraft fees to worry about. Way more convenient than a traditional bank and I think a lot more people can benefit from using a GreenDot card and their services if they actually knew what it stands for. Once again my apologies for the past review as I’ve been using the GreenDot card frequently. Lol. Also once you get your routing and account number, you can link you PayPal account as well which great! Thank you GreenDot, I am now a believer and will continue to support and use my card.

My experience using a Green Dot card was very horrible. The reason I bought a Green Dot card with $100 was because my bank account with Wells Fargo was over drafted due to some fraudulent activity so my account was at a negative balance. I filed a claim which takes about 10 days to process, so I bought a Green Dot card to put money on so I can pay for a few things without having to put my money in my Wells Fargo account because I wouldn't have had access to all of it due to the negative balance. But anyways, long story short, I didn't even purchase one item, other than withdraw 80 bucks from an atm. The atm charged me 3 bucks and on top of that, the Green Dot card has their own fee of 2.50 to use an atm. So that's $-5.50. And after that I got charged $7.95 for the monthly fee immediately after I withdrew money from a Wells Fargo atm. So lets do the math, -$3 -$2.50 -$7.95= $-13.45.
Oh but wait, I almost forgot about the initial cost of the card which was $1.95. So whats that? -$15.40. So if you like to lose money, let alone without even spending any money, then go right ahead and get yourself a Green Dot card. And just to throw it out there, I didn't even bother to call or contact them to get a refund, or get compensated for anything for that matter. Because I know they prolly won't give me back anything. So whoever reads this, I advise to you to stay away from a Green Dot card unless it's the only option you have. And whoever is supposed to contact me back from management on a follow up to help with my concerns, don't bother unless you're gonna tell me that I'm gonna get my money back. Oh and by the way, I still have $4.60 on my Green Dot card, but you know what, you guys can keep it. As a matter of fact, use it to figure out a way to make your company better without having to burn innocent people and rob them of their money.

Saying they can't verify my identity. That it'll be a few weeks before I get my refund check in yet they take my social security number down and whatever. No I don't understand. How you can take my money in a matter of a minute but it's going to be weeks before I get it back and why can you not I verify my identity when I'm an American citizen as in my whole life. Nice nice company. In all honesty very dissatisfied. I will not recommend this company to anybody ever but I will be calling ConsumerAffairs.

My husband and I bought a card Friday night with $200 on it. We haven’t been able to register the card. We were blocked immediately afterward with we have to wait another 24 hours. Same thing happened Saturday night. It’s Sunday and every time I get partially through the process it says they having technical issues to try again later. That’s $200 we haven’t been able to touch all weekend. Not a happy camper.

I have Green Dot Prepaid. I had to switch banks because my bank moved and right now I really don't have a car to get there. My money has to be direct deposit so I bought Green Dot. Well I'm not having really any problems with mine except my money is going in that card. I should be able to shop where ever I went right wrong. I use to love shopping with a company called AliExpress and wish I'm on a fixed income and can't afford high prices. Well I can't buy nothing from them because they're not in USA. The card will only let you buy from USA so I'm stuck buying used stuff on the sites.
I have no transportation, disabled and no local busying. The other thing is I got my husband's card offline. He does not have a PIN number. I call customer service several times. They tell me to go to Greendot.com. I have done that and nothing so my husband has to do credit all the time and can't get the money off his card without a PIN and I don't understand why customer service can't just give us a PIN number. Can you help please.

I selected to receive the TurboTax prepaid card this year for my tax refund. After creating an account for the prepaid card, which included providing my name, D.O.B, address and social, I was told I needed to submit my ID for verification. I attempted to do so several times with clear images that met their upload requirements and each time I checked the status it said my document was not accepted. I even scanned a copy instead of taking a photo with my phone. After the fifth time I attempted to contact the customer service number. Imagine how upset I was when it wouldn't allow to speak with anyone! The automated system simply advised my document was not accepted then hung up. I then decided to email. Within a day I received a very dry response that my ID was not accepted and the account was closed. What pissed me off most is they NEVER attempted to contact me about. No call, no email, nothing.

I ordered a card on 1/29/18. I was supposed to receive it by 2/5/18. I didn't receive it so I called Green Dot to let them know I haven't received my card. The representative put me in a new card in which I was moving so I also changed my address to my new address with him. I received an email stating my card had a block on it and that it was on its way. Ok for security reasons yes put a block on it... So I received my new card 3 days ago. It said I had to either email or upload my identification. I did that over 13 times.
Now I'm being told, "We haven't received any documents at this time. We don't have a direct number to contact that department... There's nothing we can do at this time... You can resubmit your document." I had to ask the lady was I being pranked. Never in my life I've been so frustrated with a company. I thought they were a good card to have so much for thinking and after all is said and done I just stumbled upon a Class Action Suit that's in the making against this company on another site. What did I sign up for? I need answers about my money.

Got the Green Dot debit card as a gift for our anniversary and went out to dinner that night. Our meal was almost $70.00 so I said use the Green Dot debit card for the $40.00 of the bill, that was the value of the card. The waiter came back and said the card would only worth $32.08 and we just got the card! What a ripoff! So the next day I went to the grocery store and bought some groceries about $76.00 worth and tried to use the card again to pay for $7.00 worth on the bill. The card was rejected! So as far as I can tell they charged me over $7.00 just to use this card and I don't know what my sister in law paid for the card but this is a total rip off! If I could give this card a negative star rating I would!

Literally was suppose to get a refund from the Golden Nugget due to checking out because of a down deposit and soft charges. Green Dot acts like they can’t see **. Even the hotel gave them a confirmation for the release of the money. When I say I know you guys are KNOWN for stealing This I wish I was Warned. I’m literally coming for my money court or not. After following all the instructions, GIVING MY social security number, PICS FRONT AND BACK OF MY DRIVERS LICENSE and confirming my card was acceptable to transfer funds from a money pack card to my card, I received message saying I would hear that my identification was confirmed within 30 minutes. After several attempts on multiple days to transfer the money, they have failed to contact me regarding the verification process. No telephone number. No customer service. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!

It took awhile but I was eventually able to speak to someone at your corporate office who was willing to help me get the issue resolved. I must admit that I'd be too nervous to use the MoneyCard method of reloading a card but have successfully used the Load at Register method since. When I was actually able to speak with a live representative, who then put me in contact with a supervisor, within minutes the $400 was made available on my card. Thank you for your help, I have changed my rating to 3-Stars because the issue has been satisfied.

I started using my Green Dot card which was issued by my university to receive our student refunds. I usually load at the register but decided to get a MoneyPak instead. I'd done it before years ago and things were fine. THIS time I attempt to load $400 the day before I have several automatic payments to be withdrawn and run into THE WORST verification process and customer service you can imagine.
After purchasing the MoneyPak, putting $400 on it at FoodLion (who doesn't have a load at register option), scratching off to reveal the number, creating an account, entering the MoneyPak#, entering the number of the card I needed funds transferred to, entering all of my most personal info including Social Security#, receiving a text message telling me to reply YES to verify it's really my mobile number, taking pics of the front and back of my ID, uploading my ID... I GET A SCREEN WITH A MESSAGE SAYING I'LL "BE CONTACTED WITHIN 2 BUSINESS DAYS."
EXCUSE ME? My bills are due now. I want access to my money now. And it is completely unethical and fraudulent not to make it CLEAR that there is a possibility a consumer's funds MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE TO US until after the completion of some BOGUS verification process. Why bogus? Because if GreenDot/MoneyPak can't verify that I am who I say I am after I provide my full name, phone number, address, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AND PICTURES OF MY DRIVERS LICENSE, then the verification process is indeed bogus. However my hard earned $400 is not.
So I attempt to call customer service. Hmmm, no number on the card. Google, ok here's a number. But I can only speak to someone after entering my card number. Ok here it is, but it was issued by my university so, will this work? NO. I guess not that GreenDot card number. Entered my Social and Birth date - doesn't recognize me. Fine because all I want is to speak to a Customer Service Rep to inquire how to either get my $400 on my card asap or refunded to me (and no not within 2 weeks) - I owe my creditors NOW. But I never get a live person. Just an endless automated recording loop until I'm disconnected after being told I can only be helped by providing information that apparently doesn't exist.
ONLY THEN did I start reading the reviews to see if others were being burned by this company so badly. And how I wish I had read the reviews FIRST. Apparently inviting people to purchase MoneyPaks with their slogan "The Fast and Easy Way to Reload a Prepaid Card," then making consumers jump through hoops providing all of our sensitive information and handing over our money only to realize it is a "Slow and Unnecessarily Complicated Way to Have Your Money Tied Up with Whereabouts Unknown with No Possible Way to Speak with a Live Person" is their common practice.
I highly recommend anyone use any other way to reload their card other than MoneyPak. Perhaps avoid GreenDot altogether. I will post an update if and when my $400 is made available to me. Until then I am interested in exploring options of how to hold a company accountable for false advertisement (i.e. Fast and Easy), how to ensure the requirements of their verification process are made clear BEFORE a consumer makes their purchase, and to combat violation of consumer rights to have as much detail possible about a product - especially a financial product - so that we can make informed decisions.
They should be ashamed. And held accountable. I can only imagine the harm this has done to people trying to feed their children and pay bills. This is a serious issue that must be resolved. Not just for me, but to keep others from being affected by the fraudulent practices (by way of omission of much needed information for consumers to make informed purchases) of GreenDot/MoneyPak. Oh yes. I want an attorney to contact me about my complaint. Especially if they can claim I didn't pass the verification process then think they can keep my $400 because "all sales are final." I think not.

I had a credit out back on my card without my knowledge. My card was stolen and by the time I realized the money was there, it was already gone. PA State Attorney General's office notified. They are waiting with me for an update as Green Dot falsified documents to them. They decided to wait two weeks to do anything and it takes another two weeks for an answer. They have until tomorrow at the latest to put my stolen money on my card now that they finally have the correct cell phone number for me. If I don't have it today or tomorrow, charges get filed on Friday. The FDIC has been notified, the Federal Trade Commission and the BBB. They are all waiting for an update from me and if nothing resolved, lawsuit will start immediately.
My husband just had an amputation a few days ago. I've been waiting on that money for months. What they will pay in a lawsuit will be a lot more than what they owe me of a little over $1000. I guess they'd rather pay thousands to me and court cost. I'm going to be a whistleblower and have them shut down. There are now 77 people in my state that I know of and possibly more that want a class action lawsuit. I'm waiting for final approval for that. Steer clear of this fraudulent company. I will keep Checking today and tomorrow for my money or see you in court. I have the law in my side now.

I was a long time customer of Green Dot until today. I've used this card for years to receive a direct deposit from my job. A couple of weeks ago, I misplaced the card and called to report it lost along with a charge dispute about a week ago. This past Friday, the new card came to me through FedEx. When I tried to activate it, I noticed that it was blocked. I called the customer service number and I could not get through, the automated service told me to go to greendot.com/documentupload to upload my driver's license. So I did. The next day, I got a message that my document was not clear. So I re-uploaded. Then I called them through the back number that you would use to report the card lost. I was told that my account would be closed once I spent down my balance and that I could never be a Green Dot customer again. I did nothing wrong. This company is trash. Take your money and run!

I have been a Wal-Mart MoneyCard holder for over five years. I am a disabled veteran and my disability checks are direct deposited in to my account every month. A few days ago, I noticed two PayPal charges on my account that I did not make. I immediately called PayPal (I don't have a PayPal account) and they put in immediate claims. I called Wal-Mart Money Card canceled my card and had another card expedited to me (which they charged me $15 to do). I then disputed the claims with Wal-Mart both on the phone and online. Wal-Mart locked the account and said it was their "policy" to be sure the account was secured. They told me that it would be five calendar days to wait for an outcome of their investigation.
I cannot access my funds for five calendar days! Why would I pay to have a card expedited to not be able to use it? And not having access to my funds? Every time I contact the company I get a different person telling me a different thing and none of what I'm being told makes any sense! Locking my account when there is no physical bank to access my funds is ludicrous! I have bills that need to be paid this week. I fully expected more from Wal-Mart.

I received a replacement Green Dot yesterday in the mail. Lo and behold my card was locked! I had to submit a form of identification online and I have to wait two days before I can find out if I can register my card. Customer service is the worse.

Very upset. Purchased a Green Dot card. Had $180 on it. Got home and activated it to be told it couldn't be used. They told me they would refund me a check and I would receive in 2 weeks. Never got it. Called back and they said sent to wrong address and they would cancel check that was already sent out and reissue new check. I would receive it in 2 more weeks. I have yet to receive it. This has been since December 2017. I have called many many times and only received automated service. I am to the point I am going to report them to The Better Business Bureau and whoever else that will listen to me. It's obvious by the reviews I am reading I am not the first. To me this is STEALING!

I purchased my card several days ago now almost a week. I needed it to put money on an account so my husband could speak to his child who had just had surgery. I waited for a while after loading $23.00 on the card at purchase.THE MONEY NEVER DEPOSITED UNTO THE CARD! I've been spent over an hour on the phone with a customer service representative that drove me nuts to create a case number tell me they look into it and I should have my money within 24 hours. Doesn't help my situation. After 24 hours the money still has not deposited onto my card. I called back they told me just monitor my account 72 hours after the money never went on to my card. I called back and they said they now have my card blocked for suspicious activity!!! How do you have suspicious activity on a card that never had the initial deposit to begin with? I still haven't received my money!!!

I’ve been unable to receive a card from Green Dot for 2 months now and now all I need to do is have them transfer monies from the account. I have not received a card for to the card that I went and got from Walmart. I reordered a card on 1/28/18 and was told it would be 7 business days to receive the card, card was mailed 1/29/18 and as of 2/11/18 still no card. But there is a block on the card now which I had sent them via email photos of my ID and have given them all of the info I have on the card I haven’t received which has my monies on it since 1/19/18 and they put a block in said card. Since they put the block on the card and cannot transfer the funds to my other account as of now. But when the block is lifted they can only transfer $300 of the almost $3000 in the account to the card I have and all I get told on the phone is it’s going to take another 24 to 48 hours before anything can be done.
They don’t even have a customer service representative working on weekends to handle such problems. If I were a corporation of this size I would have someone available 24/7, and then it’s going to take another 7 business days to get another card mailed to me after I have to call them back again, what gives it’s their mess up and now because of it my bills are not paid. My power is shut off. While they collect interest on my unusable funds while I suffer the consequences of their actions!!!

I've been using Green Dot for a very long time and I'm wanting to get my tax refund on my Green Dot Prepaid Card but after reading all the negative reviews I'm very scared my account will get locked and I won't have access to MY MONEY and my money will be lost or taken from me. Corporate please respond to clear this fear I have of this and get these locking people out of their OWN ACCOUNTS from their MONEY issue resolved. This is totally unacceptable and is wrong in so many ways!!! Get it together GREEN DOT!!! I have never had ANY issues so far. Only positive things to say. Just scared to do my tax refund in fear of getting locked out my account and losing my money I worked very hard for and earned.

Green Dot blocked my account Thursday night on the same day I got paid. I have not reported any unwanted activity or anything. I am totally frustrated with them. I asked them to remove the block and they keep saying 24-48 hours, absolutely no help at all.

I have had a Green Dot Prepaid Card for several years and I have replaced lost cards before with no problem. I reported my card lost February 7 but on February 9 I got an email that said suspicious activity and my card was blocked and I could upload my ID. When I tried to upload my ID it says card not found. I guess because the card is blocked. I tried calling but couldn't get past the recording without a valid card number but it says I have 2 cards on file. I let my dad call using his card number and I got through but they say my direct deposit will be sent back until I send my ID. How is there suspicious activity on a card that was reported lost. I really need this handled like ASAP, before my money is lost in limbo and I can't pay my bills.

I bought a Visa prepaid card and put $50 on it. When I tried to register it online or by phone it wouldn't register. I got no other options online or phone to resolve the problem. This seems to be quite a scam.

Green Dot put me in touch with Daniel from their corporate office and he did a fantastic job getting this issue resolved for me. I was extremely frustrated with Green Dot's initial response and their policy of blocking customers from speaking with one of their live representatives for certain issues but Dan did a great job of getting everything straightened out and explaining what happened and why. This a long one but Green Dot really put me through the ringer. On 2/1, I received a GD card loaded with $50 for my birthday from my sister. I attempted to register it online by scanning the front and back of my Florida license with my iPhone. Both sides passed and everything appeared to work seamlessly. However, when I logged in the next day I was given a message that my submissions were illegible and I would need to submit them again. I have an old iPhone 4 so I figured the resolution probably wasn't high enough.
So this time I used my brand new HP printer that had been used about five times. I ran into problems right away as sometimes the front would pass but then the back would fail. Then the back would pass but the front would fail. I kept trying because it wouldn't allow me to proceed until both sides passed. After roughly five attempts, it ultimately returned me to the log in screen where I was given the following message: "We were unable to verify your identity. Your card has been cancelled and you will be unable to open any future accounts with this bank."
Of course, my jaw about fell into my lap as I was merely following their instructions to the letter. Why in the world would I suddenly be locked out and cancelled? So I immediately called their customer service line but when I did so I received the same message (in automated form) and my call was disconnected. Green Dot would not allow me to speak with a customer service agent. Undeterred, I called back under my wife's information in order to get through to an agent and hopefully get some answers.
After explaining what happened, the agent put me on hold for roughly five minutes, came back, apologized, and informed me that an "account specialist" would have to handle my case. Again, I was put on hold while some wonderfully distorted music was piped in. Finally the music stopped, I heard about a minute of silence, and then I was dumped into their survey queue! I kid you not - their customer service is deplorable. So I called back, went through the same routine with my wife's information in order to get to an agent because, at this point, I guess I'm persona non grata with Green Dot and they won't even give me the courtesy of speaking with me when my only crime was following their instructions to the letter in submitting my documents for verification until the system ultimately crapped out and then permanently locked me out in the process.
Using my wife's information again, I finally got an agent that advised me that she had opened a case regarding my problem and that a corporate manager would be calling me shortly to explain the problem and if a resolution was possible. Of course, no one ever called and when I contacted them to inquire as to why I never heard from the "corporate manager" I was told that he or she was given an invalid number for contact yet, after verifying the number they had on file, it was determined that it was the exact same phone number I was speaking with the agent over. Nice try Green Dot. To add insult to injury, the next day I got a personalized card in the mail but was given the same message when I called to activate it.
My next step was to take pictures of the front and back of my valid Florida driver's license, my Government issued VA Identification card, and a valid credit card I have with Capital One. I then wrote a courteously written but detailed letter describing the experience I had trying to register my card and sent it certified mail to their Pasadena Headquarters on Monday. I checked my tracking number and they received it at 8:30 am Thursday morning 2/8/18.
I called Friday afternoon (2/09/18) and was told by one of their representatives that my ID still didn't pass their verification process and they would be unable to reactivate the cancelled card or send me a new one. When I asked about the $50.00 that was used to load the card and she said she was very sorry but that money stays with the card and I would not be able to access that either - at any time in the form of a new card or a check from their corporate office. In other words, Green Dot can apparently just tell you your identification didn't pass their verification process and then keep whatever money you sent them. I'm not an attorney but this sounds very close to fraud.
If you don't want to send me a card, that's fine, but under no circumstances should the company be allowed to profit simply because they didn't like my driver's license photo or their software was unable to discern the difference between a valid Florida driver's license and a paper bag. Either way, a new card is in order or a refund of the original $50 load. At this point, I really don't care either way as their customer service is so dreadful and their policies so unfair and discourteous to their customers I'm sure I'd not want one at this point.
Originally, I had planned on having my paycheck deposited to my card, The way I've been treated and the prospect of dealing with these apathetic, discourteous and clueless agents has changed my mind considerably. At this point, I think I just want my original $50 load back. I have a prepaid with Chase Bank, PNC, and a checking account with full privileges at HSBC. There were some feature that attracted me to the card but I don't need this headache. Life is stressful enough.
So my question is what can be done to resolve this situation? I think it's outrageous that Green Dot doesn't allow people they've decided not to do business with for whatever reason access to their agents so the person can be told why. It's downright criminal that they should be able to keep one dime of money that was loaded on to their financial instrument as a gift for another person.
In summation, I sent Green Dot three forms of valid identification and I would like the card they cancelled for no valid reason replaced with an active one (in other words their product) that will allow me to access the gift my sister sent me for my birthday or a check for the original load of $50 and the $4.95 this company had the nerve to charge for this ridiculous fraudulent product
If this is not something the company is willing to do, I would like a call from a corporate manager. And a real call this time - not just notes on my account indicating someone tried when they really didn't as my phone has been glued to my hip all week waiting for this call and I've been at my work phone at all other times so no attempt to call me was ever made. In any event, during this call, I would like Green Dot's manager to explain to me why issuing me a new card would not be a viable solution to this problem and the disposition of the remaining balance if it is not.
It's a simple request. Either replace the card that was purchased in good faith and you are now refusing to honor or return the money you accepted to load on to it for my use. You can't have it both ways. Either replace your product with the full amount loaded and ready for us or issue you a full refund. I would suggest you consider my request very carefully as I've been doing a lot of research on this issue and your company pulls this stunt in it would be customers quite frequently. The net is full of complaints of people in the exact situation I'm in. I have a relative and a good friend that are known as "pitbull" lawyers. Your company is setting itself up for a class action suit and I know just the pair that would love to take you on. I challenge you to call my bluff.

I purchased a Green Dot prepaid MasterCard on Tuesday Feb 6th. I loaded the card with $130.00 plus paid the fees and price for the card. I sent in the documents for the card and was told several times documents were not received. I was finally inform the documents were received. I called the number on the card unable to speak with a live person the recording states card unable to be used and unable to purchase another card. Located the Green Dot on Facebook. Spoke with a live person they are saying they can not issue me another card or refund me my money. I am out of $150 cash money and unable to use the Green Dot card. I need help with getting my money refunded back to me ASAP. Escalated to supervisor with Green Dot still not help very rude and not helpful. I never used the card.

I recently was targeted by a scam artist. Long story short - he claimed he was a sheriff's deputy and demanded I pay my fines with Green Dot MoneyPak cards. I caught onto the scam before he got my money. Now I am trying to transfer my money back to my account, and I am getting a complete runaround from Green Dot. I was on hold for 30 minutes waiting for a supervisor before they hung up.

I reported my card lost at least 8 weeks ago. As I had direct deposit to this card there is a substantial amount of money on there, thousands of dollars. I was told my account would be closed and a check with my balance would be mailed to me. I have yet to receive it. Without this money I am struggling to survive. I contacted customer service and got no help, just a "it's being processed". I would like to continue using Green Dot but need to know when I will receive my check. Worst customer service ever. Green Dot please help.

I purchased a Green Dot debit card at CVS and loaded $120 on to it on 2/8/18. I have my receipt. I called to activate my card and when I put in the card number and 3 digit security code in a recording told me that I can only activate it online. I went online one time and a message on the screen told me I have exceeded the amount of time I tried to activate card. I tried once. I have to wait 24 hours to try again. I only tried once. I tried calling to get help but I can't enter information in to get to a person. I AM OUT $120. I'M POOR. I NEED THIS MONEY TO PAY A BILL ONLINE. HELP. PLEASE CALL ME.

I did my taxes on TurboTax and this year they used Green Dot. Well my refund has been deposited somewhere because I've never received my card. When you try to call it's all automated and you CANNOT get a live person. So back to the automated nightmare they ask for a Ssn number then they ask for a zip code. I put all that in fine then I'm asked for my Birth date so I put my Birth date in and it's an invalid response. Now I'm pretty sure I know when my Birthday is and if you CANNOT EVER reach anyone to talk to live. I don't think it's the financial institution I want to use. So I will be pulling my entire refund out as soon as possible and going to a real bank and I will never use them again. Plus judging by the amount of complaints about them keeping people’s money. I can almost see a class action lawsuit in their future and I would rather miss that.

I purchased my first prepaid card to make an online purchase on a website that I wasn't sure was legit (I didn't want to put my debit or credit card number on it for my safety). When I registered online, Green Dot was "unable to verify my identity". They blocked the card so that it could only be used at POS until they verified my identity. The following day I sent in a copy of my drivers license. I have never had any issues with my identity so didn't think anything of it. When I called the next day, the automated system told me that my card was closed and I wouldn't be able to use the bank again. Then the automated system disconnected the call.
I have tried calling every number I could find online for Green Dot every day since this has happened but haven't been able to speak to a live person. They still have my money and I have no way of getting it back as of today. I will continue to complain on any website I can because of this. I am very lucky that I only put $160 on the card and not more. I have read reviews where they have done similar things to people for more money.
There should be absolutely no issues with verifying my identity and it definitely should not be this difficult to contact someone. That is not the point though - the point is that the company has kept money that does not belong to them with no intentions of returning it (they do not have my address nor have they contacted me to find out how to get the money back to me.) I understand that my complaint does nothing to the company's financial standings or reputation but I do hope that if you read this and are considering getting a prepaid card that you will select another card issuer. This seems to be an ongoing issue with Green Dot.

I tried to access my account on my mobile phone as usual. It would not take my username and password. Changed the password after submitting information. Would not accept new password. Unable to reach anyone after contacting by phone just to make sure my account was not compromised. Made transactions as usual, but later in day, account information by mobile and laptop still is inaccessible. I tried several more times to contact my card by phone and cannot get a person now, either. I have never had this issue before with my account and I find it disturbing that I cannot contact a person directly about my account.

I can only hope that what I’ve experienced within Green Dot debit card customer service dept is truly NOT a reflection of what their customers deserve, however, it’s certainly been disappointing. I also hope their widespread disingenuous attempt to appear to care while ripping their customers off at every opportunity will be reflected in their bottom line as well. At some point using poorly trained inept customer service rep clueless of their own products and services has got to impact them in a way that really counts. What a disappointment!
The supervising representative actually ended by saying, “there’s nothing for free, ma’am, when I was disputing their overcharges from their “FREE” and un-requested debit card that they told me would qualify me for a fee waiver with my monthly direct deposit amount, yet charged me $29.85 over 3 months then only offered a 1 month refund. As if it was only my fault they couldn’t help me access my account for 3 months. Bravo, you crooks, bravo! You must be striving to be the envy of every morally ambiguous company coming up on your heels.

I am very disappointed in this company. I called on Jan. 25th to order a replacement debit card. I was told I would receive new card on first. It is now Feb 6th and I've still not received my card. I've gotten no real reason why they cannot tell me where my card is. And every time I have called since the 1st I have been told I would receive it tomorrow. I have a family of 5 and my entire paycheck is on this card and I can't do anything. I get excuses and put on hold. No one has answers. I've asked for one to be overnighted to me but they keep avoiding that. I need a card now. But they don't seem to want to try to help me.

Filing a huge lawsuit on Green Dot. I will be sure to have this as topic at my job which is a local news station in downtown Chicago. Green Dot debit is a huge fraud!!! I want my money back!!!

Been customer since 2012, had to cancel a card due to fraudulent card activity. Ordered another card... while account was frozen even after new card arrived. I submitted the documents needed to verify identity multiple times to Green Dot, but no one will unfreeze my account that I had my paycheck direct deposited on. I can’t pay bills or feed my kids. When I try to call customer service, I cannot reach real person!!! I am very angered and disappointed. Poor customer service... if you can even call it customer service!!!

I sent the email and still haven’t heard anything from Green Dot. I’m pretty sure they should have atm transition it video. I really need my money. This is sad. I just started my direct deposit. Might have to cancel!!!

The reason for my review is because I have been a victim of fraud and theft by this company. On January 17th I went to load money on my Green Dot Prepaid Card at my neighborhood Walgreens. The cashier informed me that I had to load the money on a "MoneyPak" card and then I can move that money to the card online (not sure why this step exists in the first place) but I followed the directive. Once I get home I discover that the MoneyPak has a silver bar in the back that I have to scratch off to reveal the numbers to enter on the online app that will allow me to move the money from the MoneyPak to my Green Dot Prepaid Card.
Well, this is where it went wrong, unlike a lottery card where the silver scratch off comes off with ease, when I attempted to scratch off the silver bar on the MoneyPak, the first 5 numbers came with it! (After researching online, I see that this is a common issue with the MoneyPak which makes me feel like this is a big scam!). Anyway, So I viewed the help section on the MoneyPak website of what to do in this situation. After realizing that there was no live person that I could speak with, I complied with the online form for a refund submitting all requested information and I also sent an email to the rr@greendot.com address that was provided and to customer.advocacy@greendot.com both on the 16th and 17th of January and to this day February 5th I have received no response from either department.
After reviewing several websites about issues with this company I found out that not only was I not alone in this experience but also how to get a live voice. I finally was able to get a live person from Green Dot going through their lost card prompt. I have been told after creating another claim with a call center representative that there was no phone in the department that handled refunds for me to communicate with the department directly and that no one could manually move the money to my card and furthermore that it would take 2 weeks for me to receive a refund check (Jan 18th - Jan 31st).
Wow! So there are a lot of concerns and red flags here but my biggest question, because all I want is my money back, is where in this country does it take 2 weeks to receive something via mail? I am in the same country as the headquarters. Every question I had about the refund protocol, how to verify if a check was actually sent out (a check number or tracking number something) each representative that I spoke to (including the "Supervisor") gave me the same scripted responses over and over.
Fast forward, Jan 31st no check, Feb 2nd no check so I call. The representative told me the only thing they can do is cancel the check and resend another one but that would be another 2 weeks!!! At this point I am livid and I feel so taken advantage of. I explained to the representative that this was $500 of MY money that their company has taken from me and has not returned. This money was for my electric bill for my home in which I have 3 children. I was able to get an extension from my electric company based on the ridiculous timeline that they gave me in the beginning (I would receive by Jan 31st) but now I am in jeopardy of my power being cut off.
I asked again, could they simply move the money to my card through their system, they have received all receipts and required proof. Not to mention it's 2018 I am sure that they can track my transaction in their system. And I was told no they can only cancel the "ghost check" and resend another but it would take 2 weeks. So now I am a month out in having access to my money that I entrusted to this company to be able to access immediately. Something that was suppose to be a consumer convenience and simple has turned into a stressful and difficult process. Right is right, just do the right thing!
I am questioning the authenticity, integrity, and validity of this company and am filing a formal complaint. I feel scammed and robbed of my $500 and would like reciprocity immediately. I didn't want to go to any further financial inconvenience however, I feel like I have no choice but to seek legal counsel in which not only will I have to sue for my $500, but the late fee associated with my electric company and any further damages that this lack of client level service has created. I feel abused and all I wanted was fair and just return of my hard earned money. I highly encourage every consumer to steer clear of this company, they are thieves.

My check was deposit into a Green Dot account. The next day I received an email that I needed to upload some documents. I uploaded my driver license, tried to log into my account and was told my account was closed. Green Dot has no way to talk to anyone. I have no idea on how to get my money off my card of any reason why my account was closed. This is the worst experience ever. I have no access to any of my funds, facing eviction, unable to feed my child and myself. I need some help. I have done everything I can do.

I’ve gotten the run around from both RushCard representative and Green Dot representative so now I’m left with this. What am I supposed to do to get my money back? I need help with this.

I had a Green Dot account set up for years until one day my account was closed because of suspicious activities. They said I loaded too much money on to my account and my account was closed and it says that I can never use Green Dot again. I personally like the service but if I can't use it for loading my money on to my card whenever I want I will never recommend this service to anyone.

Tried to call to talk to someone. Nope. All I get is must register this card online. I'm very upset with Green Dot and I'll be letting everyone know don't use them.

01/19/2018 purchased MoneyPak to put on my Walmart card. In order to do that online only followed all rules and instruction submitted if card bet MoneyPak number. They said I purchased a product. Won't let me submit fraud. Scam. Email 15 different emails. The number disconnect 8 different numbers. Contact police 2 times. Police say it's over their head. FBI haven't heard anything. BBB I do emotional distressed. I lost my vehicle phone turn off. Green Dot say they don't owe me anything. Email their 2 business avoiding me I purchased a product. Where's the product. No one will answer the phone. Once they got my receipt and MoneyPak number. Immediately returned email. No money left. They gone 465.00 1-19-18 I can't believe. They just took my money. Gdnotification@greendot.com, **, verifymydocs.com, attheregister.com/MoneyPak/help.
MoneyPak.com 5 different ref numbers won't let me do a fraud claim. Their email is too busy, send receipt scan good picture. Soon as I sent all document they said contact in 5 days. No immediacy responded. No money left. Profile said send SMS messages never did. Within 30 talk to a man in my card in 45 minute. I stress out can't believe this is in house mx2.greendot.com. Delivery fail. Green Dot not accepting. No mail to full wrong address and do not modify the subject line.

Unable to speak with customer service at any point to inquire about options for card use. Husband purchased card for me to use one-time online. I could not register the card without inputting SSN#. However, I found instructions on how to cancel the card (to prevent personal card from being generated and sent). After I made the purchase I logged into Green Dot account and closed account. However, the transaction is still showing as pending although the funds were prepaid. I attempted to call customer service again thinking that I would get help as the card had been registered. Recording states a refund is being sent and still will not allow the option to speak with a representative. Worried about the processing of the transaction on the merchant side and refuse to be held liable for a process on the side of Green Dot.

I purchased a prepaid debit card and registered the card online. I submitted the requested documents. Within 24 hours, my account was charged a $5 monthly fee and closed. There is no "live" customer support and no option to get the money I loaded onto the prepaid card back. I filed a report with ConsumerAffairs. Within one business day, a representative from Green Dot Corporate (the bank administering the card) contacted me and offered his personal assistance to resolve the matter. I submitted the requested document to him directly and he worked with their Risk Management department to resolve the issue. The next business day, he contacted me to inform me they resolved the issue. He credited me back the monthly fee and gave me the option to get a full refund or keep the prepaid card. I kept the card. ConsumerAffairs and Green Dot Corporation took my issue seriously and provided an explanation and quick resolution. I am 100% satisfied.

On January 31st, I purchased a Walmart MoneyCard and loaded money onto the card. I registered the card and verified the money was in my account. I received an email asking me to submit my driver's license for verification and I did so immediately. Later when I logged into walmartmoneycard.com, it showed my document (license) was not accepted and my account closed. There was no information on how to get a refund on money in my account. Walmart MoneyCard has no live customer support and only a postal address on their website.
On February 1st, I went to the Walmart where I purchased the card and they stated they could not help because walmartmoneycard.com is a 3rd party site. Walmart told me I had to find my own way to contact someone with Walmart MoneyCard. No help. Walmart MoneyCard is associated with Green Dot Bank in CA and I found @greendotcards on Twitter. I messaged them and provided the information they requested to look into the account. They told me the same - my account was closed. They asked for my contact number so they could call me.
On February 2, a representative with @greendotcards called me. I asked and she stated she was the person who I tweeted to the day before. She mentioned the call was being recorded for training purposes. She stated again, the account was closed. I asked her the process to get a refund of the money I loaded onto the prepaid card. She stated there is no process and after 60 days I can contact my State. I asked her who in my State. She did NOT know who I contact in my State. She said she has NO other information and could not provide any additional help. I asked if I should write a letter to the postal address on the website support page, she stated "no" and they do not have additional information.
I believe Walmart, walmartmoneycard.com and Green Dot Bank committed fraud on me. They sold me a product, took money I loaded onto the card, provided no customer support, charged me a monthly fee and closed my account. I never used the card. Now, Green Dot bank, who has my money has NO process or information of how I can get my money they have refunded. All they told me was in 60 days, contact my State. No who, how, where, etc. I wonder how many other people purchased Walmart MoneyCards, loaded money, then had their account closed before spending their money with no support or process to get their money refunded.

After my card being declined when trying to pay my bills, I check my balance and transactions. I saw 3 separate withdrawals for magazine subscriptions that I did not authorize. I call customer service to stop payment or reverse the transaction. They tell me since it was still pending that I would have to wait until it's completed. Although the money is already gone from my account. They also say that I will have to call back, report card lost or stolen, and get a whole new card. I am now about to lose my electricity and gas because I'm short on money. I should have canceled it before when they couldn't give me any of the $1500 that was stolen off my card on Xbox. Why couldn't they reject the withdrawal? Block the company from taking money from my account instead of me having to go through the hassle of getting a new card? Don't seem like a legit bank to me. I'm not going to keep my money with them anymore.

I received a gift card from one of my best friends. I registered it to shop online but it doesn't work. I was planning on using in store but then I found out the balance went from $20 to $12. It said it's a fee. This was my first experience with Green Dot and it was not a good one. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I’ve recently lost and ordered a new Green Dot card. For some reason you guys blocked my account and now I can’t access my money. The automated voice service tells me submit my photo id on GreenDot.com/documentupload, but I CAN'T UPLOAD ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY WON'T LET ME PASS THE CARD NUMBER!!!! I noticed a transaction that I did not make. I called Green Dot and told them about this transaction on my account. They put a dispute in and cancelled my card and sent me another one. I also filled out the paperwork for dispute and emailed it to them. It has been over a month and a half and I still haven’t received my money back!! Called Green Dot and they are telling me they extended the investigation for another 45 days which is ridiculous!!! I was reading the terms online and they were suppose to already credit my card after 10 business days if they were going to do a 45 day investigation.
When I told the women on the phone that she said she was going to send an email to the investigation department that I will hear something in 24 hours. That’s not promising me my money back!! What makes me mad is they have no number to contact the investigation department!!! I just want my money back. Is that too hard to ask! I can’t help someone stole my card and used it!!

I decided to use my Green Dot Card Account for my workplace paycheck. THIS WAS A HUGE MISTAKE!!! I am now out $801.00 because no one knows what happened to the direct deposit of my paycheck!!! I have had the whole HR team at my place of employment trying to figure out why I have not yet received my direct deposit today. My work uses a third party company to process payroll and even their team of employees is trying to help. They told me to contact a Green Dot customer service rep and ask to speak to someone in the ACH Department. The rep I spoke with would not listen to what I was saying and after a few minutes on the phone and demanding that he transfer me to someone in the ACH Department, he told me he had no idea what a ACH Rep is... AUTOMATIC CLEARING HOUSE!!!
Shame on you Green Dot... If you are calling yourself a bank and have people working for you as customer service reps they should probably have an idea of what an ACH is... Seriously. I am just so irritated because my $800 paycheck is now missing and NO ONE knows how to help me get it back!! I am going to default on all of my bills and become behind on rent and other payments.
If you care about your customers I would GREATLY APPRECIATE a call from someone that can actually help me. Because all my HR Dept needs to know is if the status of my direct deposit shows up as "Pending" or if it does not show anything at all. This is all I was trying to call to figure out but now when I call it won't even give me an option to speak with a real person. I need your help Green Dot. I stayed at Osage casino located in Ponca city and their staff took a unauthorized amount of money from my card and has not refunded the money back to me. Over 300 and some odd dollars. I want my money back from them and I am not going to stop until I get my money back. The casino has barred me from their casino and has refused to get my money back on my card. Thanks for your help.

They locked me out of my account after I tried to change my password and it would not go through. Also, again, they do not put my direct deposit on my card or tell me when to expect it and when you ask, they just regurgitate useless info they read off the internet which I can do. And they want your whole SS number if you ask them anything on their Fb site and that is highly suspicious!

It seems that depending on transaction volume or the fleeting needs of executives at Green Dot your direct deposit is at the mercy of the posting systems at Green Dot which post the funds when they want. As a smart institution which relies on the poor that fund their pockets I'm sure they look upon its customers as hoi polloi who are glad to even have the service to begin with, so a certain level of inconvenience must be applied to appease the bigwigs, who are profit driven but are somewhat obligated to provide a service...
The inconsistent nature of direct deposit posting makes one wonder if they are operating on a shoestring budget, yet we all are aware there is immense profit being generated providing these services and charging a fee for such services. I don't demand anything but them to officially post times for transaction like Netspend, which will make them a little more accountable and possibly force them into releasing funds in a more forthcoming manner... I understand the hustle though, if I had a little less love in my heart for humanity, I'd be able to completely empathize with your company's needs.

I have been working with Green Dot Since 12/27/207 on a dispute for payments made to AT&T. I worked with AT&T first who referred me to the financial institution to file a dispute. AT&T states they never challenge any transaction dispute payments. I followed the transaction dispute process and have been denied twice. The first reason was they could not get in contact with AT&T. The dispute was opened the second time after I was told to provide a statement showing the payments posted twice. I did and was denied because that was not adequate. I have received so many conflicting information from this company, it changes daily.
I was told they had been trying to connect with me, which I never receive any phone calls from them. I provided my contact information waiting on a call only to call and get the update the dispute was denied again. When I spoke to them on 01/27/18, I was informed my dispute case was extended for 45 days, which requires them to credit the amount in dispute, they did not. This company is awful and dishonest to deal with.

Green Dot Prepaid Visa I bought at the store, loaded 45 dollars on it, spent 2 dollars for the card. So I paid 47 dollars. The next day which is today, tried to register it to activate the Visa card and it won't register, technical difficulties it keeps saying.The entire point of getting the card and loading money on it was so I could pay a friend back the money I owe him. Now I'm even further in the hole, still owe money and been ripped off it feels like. I do a little research and find out this happens everyday to different people VERY OFTEN with no resolution.

I have an issue that is quite simple to fix with Green Dot Prepaid Card but unable to reach any live person by phone. My identity was stolen in 2013, the tax year is 2014. The refund is $908. The tax was fraudulently file under false name but with my social security numbers. I provided appropriate forms with the police, IRS, TAS, and taxpayer products group to Green Dot and the refund is still in the account and they would not release the refund to me and instead my prepaid card is still with Green Dot and of course the fees are being charged monthly.
The refund has been sitting in an unclaimed Green Dot credit card for almost 4 years now and no one can access it, not even me. All the proof my accountant and I had provided to Green Dot beyond a doubt but no avail. There's no customer service in this business. I am hoping I can get a Green Dot rep to call and discuss with me why 4 years later my refund is still with Green Dot card and the real owner of it can't use his own money.

I thought my dispute was finished. There were three unauthorized transactions in my account. I caught it immediately and went through all the proper steps. After all this I got my new card and my account was credited and it was such a relief. Then out of nowhere I notice a banner on my account that after all this my dispute was denied and they would send me something in the mail. First of all has anybody at Green Dot heard of e-mail and how could they deny my claim? I am very confused and a little leery about staying on with Green Dot.

I bought a prepaid card as a gift for my son’s coach. He tried to register online and couldn’t. When he called customers service line, the CSR barely spoke English and instead of fixing problem the CSR just cancelled the card and said he needed to ask for reimbursement and submit a bunch of information including original receipt. Obviously he didn’t have the info since it was a gift. I proceeded to contact them and ask that they activate the card since it’s a gift and all I got was a standard reply as obviously their CSR's don’t speak English. After that they just ignored my messages. This company’s behavior needs to be stopped and they should be put out of business. They run a scam on the back of folks who need the money.

My disability goes on my card. Every 4th Wednesday should post early, sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't. It's Friday at 11:10 and still nothing. My friends received theirs from their banks. I'm so frustrated with this bank.

I have been using Green Dot for a couple years now. I have the prepaid debit card, the secured credit card, along with the GoBank account. Ok so I receive my child support every month on a Green Dot MoneyPak card. Well this one time while in the process of trying to upload the MoneyPak to my card I have a pop up notice that tells me to verify my account. Ok cool no problem. Just making sure everything is how it is suppose to be 'haha'. NOT this time. When I got done it never responded an email back about my identity so I take it upon myself to try and upload the funds again but only this time it tells me that the funds have already been used. I contact the fraud department and I call a 1800# for the Green Dot customer service only to be to that it is an online product that I can only go through online.
Well here I am two weeks into this situation and I have been told that you are not liable for the return of my funds as being locked out of my online account so now I'm pissed. I call customer service back. This time I go through 3 people to be told that they are sorry but they can't help me and in turn I respond back with, "I already contacted a lawyer so and I'm ready to sue the mess out of Green Dot." But wait. All the sudden they are sending me over to someone in the corporate office because they are the only one who can help on to have to sit and wait and wait. Well then now operating hours are now closed and I will have to wait for a callback.
This is my last attempt to try and allow you to fix it before I allow my lawyer to go ahead with the proceedings and which I will get my money back along with the late payment of my rent and God forbid I lose my home in the process because then you will be buying me a new home, lawyer fees and court cost so now I'm sure I have someone's attention so please feel free to contact me back through the number that I have provided to Consumer Affairs.

When I first got my card I was a little skeptical, however after using it for a bit I have come to love that my Government Check arrives a few days earlier than normal. Going to stay with them as long as I can.

A few weeks ago I filed a dispute against a old service provider. I was told by the dispute supervisor that a dispute could be done without cancelling my card and getting a new Green Dot card so I okay and continue to dispute. 4-5 days after I had the funds in question returned to my account. I used my card since with no problems until today. I log into the Green Dot App and get a notice that due to my card being reported as lost they closed my card. I have no cash on hand to pay my bills or to cover gas to get to and from work. I called and was told it will take almost 2 weeks to get a new card.
After multiple complaints and demanding to speak to the corporate office I was told at first it is closed and then it is busy and then the Corp office is open 24/7 and I will get a call back within 1 hour. I called back 1 1/2 hr after and was told the Corp office is closed. This unacceptable and needs to be fixed. This is the 2nd problem I had in a month and had to pay out a extra $600 in late fees and not counting what late fees I will have after this and loss of money from missing work.

So 6 days ago now my car was towed and I needed $300 initially to get it out so I called my folks and they said that they would transfer money from our family checking account into my Green Dot prepaid credit card using the routing and account information as they have done this many times owning their own business and never had any problems until now. The funds were immediately withdrawn from the Bank of America checking account which I do have a Trace number and my parents also paid the $50 Express transfer fee so I would get it in one business day so my car wouldn't be late fees sitting at the tow lot as I live in Minnesota and snow can cause this to 2 people.
Anyways after one full 24-hour business day a Thursday afternoon and do a Friday afternoon I still have not received my funds yet and my car had accumulated 30 extra dollars to get out because it sat overnight so I called Green and spoke to a gentleman who told me that it would still take another business day for funds to be completed so I sat yet again another full day and still no funds. It is now Tuesday January 23rd 6 days later and my car is still in the tow lot accumulating tons of fees and no money has been credited back on my card. I have called Green yesterday Monday January 22nd and spoke to a lady who just kept repeating herself and stated that it would take 3 full business days. I told her it had been three days Thursday, Friday, then Monday and she said that wasn't 3 full business days and that I needed to wait another 24 hours.
I've done that and still no money on my card. I am more than unhappy as my car has now accumulated more than 120 extra dollars in fees on top of the initial $50 me and my folks lost out of our checking account doing an Express transfer and I have given that lady at Green that I last spoke to the tracing number to try to locate my money and she said she couldn't find it even though it's stated on my Bank of America checking account statement that Green had received my money. I am more than upset with this situation as my $300 it's just floating in the air somewhere and nobody can seem to tell me what happened to it even though I gave them the tracing number and Bank of America. When I talk to them said that you Green had already received it.
The only resolution to really satisfy the situation and rectified the Injustice here is that I received my initial $300 that have been transferred my checking account on top of the $170 extra fees I've had to endure and now pay for from Green Dot's lack of customer service and error as it states in your policy. I believe you are 100% liable for this because I've read many times on your mobile app terms and your website terms that I should have already received this money within 1 business day at the most 3 and I still have not received it for full business days later not to mention having to wait over the weekend even though we paid for an Express transfer.

I purchase a greendot.com card on Saturday and went online to activate the card, go through all the steps to activate it and it tells me it can’t actively. So I tried the process again, to no avail. I call the 888 number it asks for my card number, I enter the card number, I entered it, as it starts to ask me another question it says "This card is active to use as your temporary card until your replacement arrives", I can not use it for online purchases (the main reason I got) but can use it in person. I have tried repeatedly to use the online system and the phone number, but since I did not get asked to create a username or password over the phone, I have no way of logging in to their self help. And when I call the number it asks for the last 4 of my social.
I did not give them my social when I set it up over the phone, but anyway I type in the last 4 and it does not recognize my social. They have no live person to talk to or anyone to help you. So if you're thinking about buying or using this card, do yourself a favor. Save your time and money. It’s a ripoff, and a scam. They also reply to everyone with the same standard answer that no one has ever been helped even though they will send that same stupid answer. It’s autogenerated so I am post to help people save their money. Don’t buy or use this card!!!

Tried to activate it. My account has been closed. No explanation. Nothing. I did everything they asked me to do even scan my driver's license to them. Now I'm told that my account is closed, I can never use them again and they will send me a check for my balance in two weeks. I need food, gasoline and propane for heat. I need cash to get another card. This is ridiculous. I don't make much and depend on my paycheck. How can they do this?

This is by far the worst prepaid company out here and they will probably be out of business soon. How can you handle people's money and little to no customer help. I called for a refund. It's been almost 4 weeks now. The card doesn't work and I can't speak to anyone about my refund check. Supposedly takes 2 week process. I seen other views saying they keep people money and some people have to get lawyers. Be nice to get my few bucks back. I can't afford to lose money.

I have yet to receive my payroll check in which was sent last week. I even called Green Dot with my payroll manager to verify that it was sent to the correct place using the correct routing info, and correct account number. This card is a Fraud. I talked to a person who said they don't have a manager on the floor and could not transfer me to a manager. I was told a manager would have to call me back and it should be within 24 hours and still no one has called me back. I should have been paid last week and still no payment is showing. This is really ridiculous. It's also ridiculous that when I call them I have to go through so many prompts and sometimes they send me to a recording anyway. It like they don't want to provide any good customer service. AVOID THIS CARD AT ALL COST!

First off, if I could give this business a zero, I would in a heartbeat. I have never been so frustrated and dissatisfied with a company and its components. I bought 2 of these Green Dot card from a local Wal-mart. One of these cards was given to my daughter and the other was given to my mother for Christmas. I spent 15 minutes trying to get around having to put my social security number in, to have the card activated. I was finally able to get it activated and still cannot use it.
My mother got hers in the mail and she attempted to activate it using the super shady website and it gave an error, telling her that they were having "technical difficulties" and she was not able to activate her card. In both instances, I tried to make contact with an actual human, but all of my efforts came up empty. I searched online for hours trying to find a corporate number, or anything even associated with this God forsaken company and still no luck. Now I am out the money that was put in, until they decide to do the right thing and refund what consumers paid!!! Shame on you people for doing this to hard working folks! Like most people, I did not save the receipt. I guess it was because you don't expect to get the shaft from a company the way that I got shafted. Buyer beware and DO NOT get one of these cards... You will be sorry.

I received a DD from my employer on 01/16/2018, I was able to use my card just fine until the next day when I went to Walmart. It kept declining even though I have over $1700 on the account. I have dialed customer service number at least 20 times and for the life of me I cannot get a live person to speak with. I tried the online chat and all they keep saying is contact service, I tried Instagram and all they said was contact service.
I CANNOT REACH ANYONE AND NO ONE WILL HELP ME OR TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT MY ACCOUNT except that there was suspicious activity. The screenshot below is all that receive whenever I try to login into my account. When I call it just tells me I will never be able to open another an account again and no one comes on the line. The online chat said a "supervisor" would call me within 24 hours. This is extremely unacceptable and very bad customer service. I need somebody, ANYBODY to contact me with a resolution. I like my card but this is beyond ridiculous. PLEASE SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!

Purchased a MoneyPak at Rite Aid for $500, took the card right home to upload to Mastercard debit card. Uploaded all information including ss# and photo id. No response from company, no email address, no phone number to call. If you go to moneypak.com like it says to, there is no way to contact anyone. If you go to greendot.Com (the parent company) the only phone to call is if you have one of their debit cards and the number puts you in a loop with no way to talk to anyone or email them. I believe that this company or its employees are committing fraud and stealing money from consumers. Green Dot cards should be banned from sale, just read all the reviews. I am out $500.

I have been using Green Dot for quite some time now and have never had issues until the other day. I woke up to an email stating my account was on hold due to unusual activity and when I called and tried to speak to someone regarding the issue I was not able to speak to a live person and they closed my account. There was nothing unusual in my transactions so I’m not sure why my account was closed. It’s frustrating not being able to speak to someone regarding this issue as to exactly why my account was closed.

I called and talked to some lady from another country who I could barely understand. All I wanted was to get into my account and they had additional verification step where I had to enter my phone number. I clicked send text to get verification code. Never received it. The customer service women told me to wait 30 minutes. Waited 3 hours no text called back. Nothing. This is the worst company on the planet. Stay away.

So I called Green Dot last week to find out about Direct Deposit, and I had been told due a security issue (which I didn't file) I would be receiving a new card (which I didn't order). So they shut off my old card, and now have my 170$ dollar paycheck I need for bills that I can't get to. On top of that I can't access any of my information and am told I have to send Personal Identification to verify. And from what I'm seeing this issue is handled well. I need my money to pay my rent this week, if my issue is not corrected in a timely manner once the ID is sent it. And I do not receive MY own HARD EARNED money. I will definitely be contacting BBB, and that's the least of it. Please Green Dot make this right, or you'll be losing a very loyal customer. I will update if it is handled correctly.

Constantly awful to deal with. Constantly repeating simple English words to obvious Indian or Pakistanis who can't grasp a concept. Waiting 30+ days for a credit, told, "I'm still checking your transactions!!" I finally lost it and said, "It's right at bottom of page... 12/15/17... Can you read English??!!" Always the same and looking at other cards to close this Green Dot account.

I purchased a MoneyPak January 6, 2017 and used your scanner option to scan my freaking card. I did not know it had my last two digits incorrect on my damn card. I called my bank and thank god the card information is invalid. But I need my money. I contacted the help option and left several emails and still no response. I decided to contact a lawyer regarding this issue since I can't get anywhere. It's a shame you purchase an online product but this company has no support number for help at all. Never suggest this to anyone to buy especially if you trying to pay your bills with it!!!

I received a $25 Green Dot prepaid visa card as a birthday gift. Obviously, the purchaser thought it was a gift card. I read the terms and realized there is a monthly fee of $9.95 after you register it. You are also charged $4.95 to deposit any money in it and $2.95 for ATM charges. You have to give your social security number in order to register it as well and there was a charge of $1.95 extra to buy it. The cards should be more clearly labelled as not being a gift card and the cashier at Dollar General should be notifying people that it is not a gift card. This is absolutely ridiculous and this company should be getting fined for scamming people. I can't believe this is legal. I tried to return it to the store, but they said I had to call the company. Unfortunately, there is no way to talk to a customer service rep.
I finally had to go ahead and register the card and even then I couldn't talk to a customer service rep to cancel the card. I looked online and there is a link to close the account. There was no further information after clicking that I wanted to close the account except that I would receive a check in the mail in 10 business days. There was no mention of how much that amount would be so I am concerned that I will not receive a full refund. I would like the $1.95 fee back and I also want to make sure that I receive the full money without having the $9.95 fee taken off. I can't believe people pay so much money to use this card. Just get a bank account and fix your credit so you can get a real credit card.

Advertising store packaging is misleading. This is a debit/credit card and not a gift card, but is marketed as one. I was given a $25 card by my parents who are on a fixed income to find out that I now have a debit cards and was also responsible to pay a $7.50 monthly credit card fee. I called customer service and they wouldn't let me speak to anyone without giving the last 4 digits of my SSN. This company is predatory and taking advantage of low income and the elderly. They hid the fee on the packaging and now will do nothing to assist me with getting back my parents' money. They should be shut down. I will report them to the FDIC.

On January 13, 2018 I discovered four fraudulent charges on my Green Dot card. The transactions were pending so I called customer service and all they kept saying was, “I'm sorry Mrs. ** monitor your account. We declined the charges but the merchant might force it thru so monitor your account.” If you decline the charges how can a merchant force it thru. When I asked the question the customer service person was rude and said the conversation was over. Why would anyone use Green Dot.

I bought a card which was locked due to a security error however the only error was on their end. Even though I have my receipt I have to wait for them to release my money.

I received a Green Dot card as a gift for $300 that was purchased at Rite Aid. I tried to use the card and found out the card has $0. I went to the store that the card was purchased with the receipt and the store manager couldn’t do anything to help as the money has been taken by Green Dot? I have been trying to call Green Dot customer service for more than an hour but couldn’t get to talk to a live representative. What kind of company is this? I have been buying and receiving many gift cards over the years and this is the first time this is happening. It is very frustrating!

I called because I never received a personalized card and they telling me it was sent. I wanted it rush to me because I have to pay my bills. This jerk just didn't understand what I was saying. I'm not going to be using their service. Back to the bank I can wait for my deposit. I was just getting it early. The hassle that come with this company so NOT WORTH IT! They will have no good reviews. I'm going to make sure to pass it on. They never sent me a card and want to charge me $15. Nope. Just lost me as a customer over $15.

I've used GD cards for well over 10 years, don't like the bureaucracy that goes with bank accounts… Having a substantial amount of money direct deposited on at least a bi-weekly basis. Today I got texts that 2 direct deposits were on my card, one before I woke up, and another while I was at work. Imagine my shock when I got off work & my card was denied. Better yet even as I write this I'm still on hold… As soon as possible... And now disconnected!!!

I went to CVS and bought a Green Dot prepaid Visa card. Put $30 on the card and called the 1800 number to activate it. Unfortunately I went thru the activation process to activate card but when I got to customer service he put me on hold after asking a couple questions. Then the automated voice comes on and tells me "Your card was not activated correctly and you can't make online purchases only in person transactions.” I thought maybe I bought a messed up card. Went to Walmart and put $25 in another Green Dot. If I can't have a refund can you please help me fix it? I tried calling the number on the back of the card multiple times but no representatives come on to talk to you only an automated selection. Please fix that problem.

I've been a Green Dot customer for 10 years now, and after so long my account gets hacked and they have to send another card. This has happened at least 5 or 6 times. I have bills due and can't get to my money. They have a blocked on my account and they keep giving me the run around after doing everything to get the block removed. I'm not sure if I'm the only one or have Green Dot got this irresponsible with our money.

My husband and I have cards with these criminals. They have put a block on his account for "unusual usage/activity". He is working out of town. All his wages and per diem are sent to this card and he has no way of accessing it. When we asked them to explain said unusual activities they said they have no access to that! He was asked verify his identity by sending a picture of DL. This has been done multiple times. WE have been told it takes 24-48 hours for them to view the documents and release the account. It's now been 3 days. We have called multiple times with resolution. Meanwhile he is stranded in the middle of North Texas with no gas, food, or way to book a hotel. They refuse to escalate the issue to someone who can resolve it. This not a good way to do business. We will be canceling our cards as soon as they release his money to him. NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE. GO TO NETSPEND OR BLUEBIRD, BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I have a problem with my money not being refunded back to my account and I’m more upset that you partner with Walmart and Walmart customer service reps can’t do anything on your behalf. When trying to reach all numbers to you guys, I’m sent through an automatic system which I can’t get through because Walmart registration doesn’t allow you to input your birthday. Why is there not an option to speak with a REAL PERSON!? Most importantly, why does it take over 5 days to refund me money for a product I’ve never received!? I’m absolutely livid and the next time someone gives me a Walmart gift card having anything to do with you, I’ll try my best to sell it or give it back!?

For the holidays, I purchased two Green Dot prepaid cards for my daughters. Each card was loaded with $150. The cashier had a bit of a struggle ringing the cards up. My daughters were unable to register the cards. The cards come up invalid. Walgreen's will not assist and I cannot contact anyone at Green Dot. I don't have $300 to just throw away.

Customer service is the worst I've ever seen. I finally gave up after being on hold for over an hour on a weekday. Charge you for the card. They charge a monthly service of 7.95, you can't use it for online purchases, beware I should have checked before I got one, complete scam.

I opened this card over 3 years ago without any issues. I have used it frequently uploading cash and paying bills. Just recently claimed a dispute regarding a transaction made on my account that I did not make. I was told by a rep that I would have to cancel my current card and Green Dot sent me a replacement card via mail. I activated the card and submitted the requested form for the dispute via email and was told I told I had to wait 7 days for a response. At this time I had no access to customer service.
When the 7 days was here they blocked the new card from usage and blocked my access to speak to a representative. In addition told me to submit a copy of my driver license on their website. I submitted my ID and was then told I needed to resubmit as it was not legible. I resubmitted, and was told by the automated service that now my account was closed and I had no usage for the remaining funds on the new card and I no longer could open an account with Green Dot. I have tried to communicate with a live person but have been blocked from doing so every try. No refund of dispute or balance on card!

I reported that there was a charge on my card. They canceled my card and now they're trying to keep my money. I’m getting a lawyer because they are doing this to a lot of people. I’ve talked to them and they said the government is keeping my money. What the heck. I provided all the information they asked. And still want to keep my money.

On 12/24/2017 I called Green Dot after I noticed 7 different transactions at a Walmart that I did not shop at and each transaction was for $49. I called to dispute these transactions and now after waiting over 10 business days my dispute has been denied. This is very frustrating. Not only am I a single parent but I also had to lose this money around the Holidays which limited me and my kids to what we were able to do. I have bills that needed to be paid with that money and now I won’t even be getting MY hard earned money in return after someone obviously did fraud on my account. I’ve had GreenDot for over a year now and it sucks to see that my money is not secure with them. I will no longer be using them from this moment forward.
