Been having for a while, I would like to know why it only takes a blink of an eye to debit and 2 weeks to a month to credit this card??? Are you hanging on to consumers funds to earn interest for your benefit??? Did not make any common sense to take such a long time to credit account. Reps insist it's their system that randomly puts a date in. CHANGE THE SYSTEM... Who controls the system? People do. Sincerely unsatisfied customer!!!

I have enjoyed most of my experiences with Green Dot. However, I have a pending purchase/hold transaction on my account since Apr. 28, 2018 which should be cleared; the completed purchase is done. I need to speak to a supervisor for help with this. I have tried a few times to connect with someone who can release this transaction. I am put "on hold" for long periods of time and usually have to leave the call before speaking to a supervisor. Thank you.

My mother in law has been using the MoneyPaks to send me money and I load my Green Dot that way. I loaded my card with no troubles and even used it last night. Went today to and says I am blocked and don’t have an account. After being with Green Dot for a while now I can no longer use my card and have no idea where almost 700 dollars is because they blocked my account and closed it and then I’ve gotten mixed logins saying I don’t have an account and then it lets me log in and says I am awaiting approval of my identification to verify it’s me and not fraud. So if anyone can let me know how to get my money back or get it back to my mother in law? It’d be greatly appreciated.

I love my card. I use it for everything. I pay bills, I shop online, I take my grandchildren shopping. I'm just now going to sign up for direct deposit. So now I won't have monthly fees. That's great!!! I'm stoked! So after my job start my direct deposit I will get my check early. And again no more fees... Thanks Green Dot!??

I find it pretty easy to access cash from the card. I can use an atm. I can get cash back when I make other our bases. I can even go into a bank, pay a nominal fee and get cash. This card is super convenient and comes in handy.

I am so happy with this service. My payments post in minutes. It is fast and easy to load and my money is available in minutes. I never have any issues with my funds. I get email alerts as soon as transaction is made.

Email said I won tax time prize and to check balance. There's no balance and also the money in the vault is no longer there. Not sure why. Could you please explain the vault money and why it's gone and also why I was told I won something but when I click on email and go to it there's no prize.

I am retired army. Always had USAA military bank but I must say my pay has come to Green Dot and it’s a blessing. I feel safe with you guys and will also open accounts for my three teens. My daughter went to Disney. I was able to load money for her to utilize and she loved it. all I can say is it’s convenient, effective and right on time. Thank you.

Yesterday evening out of nowhere my card started declining transactions. I called Green Dot and a supervisor told me that there had been a temporary block on my card, because I was using it in Puerto Rico. (I have been in Puerto Rico for 2 months and had been using my card just fine.) He assured me that my card would be usable in about an hour. Well, it’s 36 hours later and I’m still unable to use my card. My transactions are still being declined. I called customer service again, and now they say that there are some technical issues with not only my card, others as well and they assure they have techs “working on the problem”. I am completely stuck with no cash to use, and a card that won’t work anywhere! Not even at Walmart! This is ridiculous, all Green Dot has to offer is an “I apologize for any inconvenience.” I’m so frustrated right now.

I bought a friendly prepaid card and I can't register it for online use because it says I have exceeded my maximum number of attempts for the day even though I only made one attempt. I can't get ahold of customer service to resolve the issue because every number I try but the one on the back of the card tells me I need to call the one on the back of the card. The one on the back of the card only lets you check your balance! I am livid! I will not recommend or use Green Dot again and will report this to the BBB!

I have spent hours attempting to register, activate my prepaid Green Dot visa card purchased ($100.00) at a retailer. I have spent even more hours trying to find on the internet or Green Dot website any means, except snail mail to get help. Despite there being hundreds of recent complaints all over the internet about the "invalid card" issue or "the card information is not found" that renders the card useless, there is conspicuous addressing of this issue by Green Dot or a phone number to deal with custom support for assisting people who were defrauded, yes fraud, as Green Dot's notice of this prevalent issue and their intent to stonewall resolution can only be characterized as an intent to breach the service that which was paid for, in this case, taking payment and not tendering usable credit for such payment.
How can the largest prepaid credit card company in America not have email, chat or phone assistance, when they have thousands of desperate consumers begging for help, simply seeking to get what they paid for? Because, it is default gatekeeper of conversion of the consumer's money via deceptive /stonewall tactics. I get my card activated or money back. It is not the mere $100. It is the fact that Green Dot has done this for years to people...everyone should report them to their State and to Federal Agencies.

I had a Credit security company make unauthorized charges on my Walmart MoneyCard. I never signed up and somehow they [credit security co.] got my Walmart MoneyCard number and charge 2 monthly payments against my account. I filed a dispute with MoneyCard [Green Dot] Pasadena Ca. office and was denied reimbursement.
Updated on 06/26/2018: They said that they wanted to get in touch with me after all to resolve the issue... but of course they have not. That was 2 weeks ago.

I had like $50 left on my card and for no reason at all it was closed and reading all the reviews sounds like Green Dot is a huge scam and should not be sold in stores because you guys make it so impossible to get ahold of you guys!!! I purchased a prepaid card at my local CVS and when I went to activate it on the website it told me I had reached my daily limit in trying to activate it, even though it was my first attempt. I went into the store and she basically told me my money was lost and there was nothing I nor she could do. I tried calling customer service and it ran me in circles saying my card was invalid and I could only activate it online before hanging up on me.
I tried pressing zero and letting it run through the options and it just hung up on me. I tried asking for a refund and was told it would take over 2 weeks to process it. It also charges 9.95 as soon as it's activated which is fine but after all the hassle a little unfair. I am now stuck with a card I can't activate, the receipt showing it's paid for and no recourse or options with customer service. This is terrible service and I am disappointed since I've used them before with no problems. At this point I just want my money back since it's over $100. I'll never use or recommend them to anyone that's for sure!

Don’t fall for the hype. Not reliable company. My experience with them has been less than satisfactory. I’ve had a card for about 3 years and have had something go wrong at least once a year. This time is the worst. Recently, suspicious charges have appeared on the account from Dubai. I have not been able to get any response from Green Dot either by phone or email. They have drained the account and Green Dot has even charged me foreign transaction fees. Save yourself the heartache and stay away from this company.

I had a deposit on my card from a 401k loan and Green Dot locked my card, now I can't verify who I am to unlock it because every time I try to take a picture of my card it says it's not clear enough!! Absolutely sickening, I would never in a thousand years recommend this company to anyone!

I purchased a Green Dot MoneyPak card from Food Lion. I set up an account to load card and it wouldn't take. I called the customer service line and got through 2 time in 4 hours (I honestly called over and over). Both times I spoke with someone they went through the process to load MoneyPak but when I checked it never went through. I want my money back and will never use MoneyPak or Green Dot again. This money was to be put on a card for my daughter who is a college student in about her state. How do I go about getting my money back?

I am so broken! I got Green Dot so I could clean up my affairs and get finances right. On May 4 I went into a secured location to use a register atm. After doing my part: enter card, pin select amount $295 needless to say no money was dispensed. I let Green Dot know their response “nothing can be done until the transaction is posted." I waited and called back and now it will take 10 or more days? This is causing so much stress, my father recently passed and I have had to take time off work, that’s all the money I had. Today I have a bill due which whole ruin my credit if I don’t pay. I have no money, no one can help and Green Dot is a prepaid card, I thought they helped with this stuff. My faith in Green Dot is very low. I am not sure how any financial institution can get away with that. What happen to customer service?

I check my account every day. So yesterday I went to the gym and checked my account just to see an estimated $20 missing from my account. I log in and someone hacked my account. So I called Green Dot to inform them that charge was not made by me and the rep said "the amount is still processing so they can't reverse it and call back another day once it's processed." I work in Customer Service so I don't see why I have to call back, the representative could of just kept an eye on my account for me instead of having me call back. But some customer service is not great as others. I said "that's fine." The representative then said "We will send you another card, verified my address and said I'll get the card on the 18th."
I check my account today and Green Dot has taken $5 out for a "replacement card"!!! Why do I have pay $5 for something I can't control. I could see if I just lost the card or misplaced it. But for me to pay for a situation I couldn't control is ridiculous. I know this is prepaid, but still. I only want the card to get paid earlier and I'm only getting paid one day earlier than everyone but not still. A regular bank wouldn't charge a replacement in that situation.

I was a Green Dot customer for over a year. I had my tax refund direct deposited to my account along with my payroll checks for the past year. After receiving my tax refund my card was blocked and now closed for no reason, saying they weren't able to verify my identity. This is completely ridiculous. Now they said it will take 45 days for my refund to be mailed back to the IRS, where I have to contact them in order to claim it? The Department of Better Business Bureau has already been contacted along with my lawyer. I wouldn't recommend the scam business to anyone. If you are thinking of using this company. DO NOT!!

So the plus I thought would be getting paid 2 days early, but this only lasts for about 3 months or so, and the hidden fees for the card are pretty ridiculous if you ask me. You pay an ATM fee and a fee to Green Dot for using the ATM. I HIGHLY SUGGEST not getting this service.

Purchased a MoneyPak card on May 8 2018 at my local Walgreens and when I scratched the back of the card there are only 13 digits. Of course Walgreens cannot help me. I do not have a Green Dot account. I purchased this card for my son to help him pay for his rent. I have made several attempts to reach a live agent with no success because I do not have a Green Dot account. Please provide me with a number to speak with a live agent! Even this forum is asking for last 4 of my card. I do not have an account with Green Dot.

I just purchased a prepaid card today, and loaded it with $55. I went online and activated it on Green Dot. Everything went well but when it tried to purchase something online it kept declining my card and my balance to my card still remains $55. I have a couple hundred dollars on my Green Dot card and have not been able to access it. This has happened with the last 4 deposits. I am in Mexico currently, using Green Dot to receive money from family in the US - it is the only way I can buy groceries until I find a job. It has been three days now without access to funds. So that is 3 days without food. I am, literally, starving. I have been on the phone with Green Dot for so many hours I am going cross-eyed. They have not been able to fix the problem. They claim over and over again that I am doing something unusual with it so it is being blocked for my protection. The only thing I've done is try to pull money out of the ATM. If and when my funds are available (if I don't die of starvation) - I will be using a different company. --- One of the worst choices I have ever made as a consumer was to trust Green Dot.

After placing $28 on a Green Dot Prepaid Card, the monthly fee of $7.95 was immediately deducted from my account leaving me $21.05. Then, this company blocked my card. The block was due to being unable to read a digital email image of a standard driver license that they couldn't read. After submitting the license for document upload twice, they still would not unblock my card, and while activating the actual MasterCard sent to my mailing address, all promos to activate the card worked except the final and most important one: the PIN number to use the card or withdraw cash.
This is the WORST pre-paid card company on the market - period. Poor customer service, blaming the consumer for their dysfunctional visual technology, refusing to close the account given that one’s time here is being taken significantly to keep sending the same ID licensure. Whatever you do, try another company besides this one. If you notice on here, only their better reviews are presented first, yet look at the large number of unsatisfied customers complaining about this company. They’re horrible, and attempt to get into your business, past, and personal history for a measly pre-paid card that you pay a Fee to use, and don’t have access to your own money. What a scam???

This is the worst card ever!! It took me about a year to finally get a human on the phone only for them to tell me that since they had the incorrect information on file for me I needed to cancel card and get a new one!! They just can't edit the information?? So now if I want to do this I have to pay the $5.95 fee and change all my direct deposit info onto another card?? I don't think so!! I can't believe they can stay in business with all the BAD REVIEWS!!!

I bought a Green Dot card with an intention to make transactions the same day of the purchase. I tried using the card in person and online and the card did not go through. I tried getting through to the Green Dot customer service for two days! And I finally reached them with the assistance of my cousin's access. The representative told me that I can only use the card to swipe in person. So, I tried using the card after receiving that information and the card still didn't go through. I have $360 on the card and would like to get it off this Green Dot because this was the worst experience.

I have a brand new card. My husband loaded funds onto the card. I registered the card, but it says that it's "under review" and will take two business days to review. Additionally, the prompts (both online and voice prompts) are requiring my social security number and birthdate. 1. Why do I need to provide personal information for a card that's pre-paid? This makes me extremely suspicious. 2. Why do I need to wait for two days for the card to be reviewed before I can access funds? My husband loaded the funds onto the card, so there should be immediate access, as the funds are there. What is VISA doing with the funds in the meantime? There is not need for a review. 3. They state that there's 24/7 customer service. But I can only get voice prompts that ask for my card number or SSN. There is no live person to answer questions. And they require personal information.

I deposited my payroll check onto this card. Went to use it for a $10 purchase it was declined. They automatically took out $5.00 monthly service fee. I was told I need to submit a copy of my driver's license. I tried multiple times but each time was rejected need clearer pic. The pics are clear on my end. Tried calling the number on back of card automated b.s. but doesn't give you any options besides telling your forms you submitted were not clear enough. There is no other number to call. I need to buy groceries for my family but now can't do that. I want my money back. I want 18% interest for every day I can't use my own money. Never again will I use this card. Ok so I called for a replacement card and it arrived and on the card it gave a number to unlock it. Well I go to unlock my card and it tells me that my account has been blocked and officially shut down and I have over three paychecks on the card that I can't even access I need this figured out or I am suing Green Dot because this is outright ridiculous. Once I get my money from Green Dot I will be cancelling my account and never using y'all again. Green Dot is nothing but a thief!!!!

I am very disappointed with the customer service I’ve gotten over the last 2 weeks. The dispute process put in place for Green Dot customers does not match the reputation that the company portrays. Agents have been rude, not helpful, as well as nonchalant to the concerns of the customer. I recently attempted to dispute a transaction per request of the merchant. The merchant is willing to reimburse the funds so long as it goes thru the Green Dot bank being that it was the method of payment. Yet, I have been told that Green Dot does not contact the merchant during the review process of the dispute. The dispute is automatically “Not Granted”.
What is the purpose to dispute or even have a dispute department to begin with? If the merchant is willing to give back the funds as long as it comes the issuing bank, what is really the problem? I have been a customer for years and have NEVER experienced anything like this. I am not happy and I will research until I find the right person to speak with. I am very sure I am not the only customer that feels the same way. I would truly strategize a more effective solution to real customer issues.

Money has been taken off my card. The only thing I got was Amazon Prime and am supposed to get a refund so 18 dollars was taken off my card without my consent. Where did it go? I will never get a Green Dot card ever again!

The score would be 0 stars if I could. This is the absolute worst customer service company, and God forbid something needs to be fixed, you get told 1 business day, here it is a week later and still nothing, constantly get hung up on. Once this is settled I will no longer use Green Dot.

I filed on 02-01-18 and got the money direct deposited using a Green Dot card... I was incarcerated on 02-02-18 and had to do 45 days in jail... I got out of jail 03-16-18 thinking I was going to have my money waiting on me but my card was being sent to a address I haven't lived at for 7 years and whoever at that address was able to get and use the card and funds on the account... I didn't know that the funds had been deposited into the account until 04-05-18 after I had to do a address change and finally got a card. I'm getting the runaround about the $6429.10 minus the $6 that was left on the card. I have sent papers stating the date I was incarcerated and released to show I couldn't have done this on 02-22-18 thru 02-27-18 because I was incarcerated. I still have yet to be refunded or contacted and it's been a month.

I had a MonekPak purchased for me. That was $200. It says that the MoneyPak has been used and I never used it. All I want is the money that is mine. I need it for bills. I have done a claim through Green Dot and a fraud claim through MoneyPak and gotten no assistance. There is a language barrier through Green Dot and I just want a little help. My wife and myself both have Green Dot cards that I'm going to cancel if there is no solution to this problem.

Unreal, I had photos of everything including my receipt for my daughter’s Visa Gift card that was fraud but because I never registered a card that was already reading as "invalid" it was refused because I might have been the one to do the charges on the gift card??? Yeah ok, I am going to use my daughter’s card then call 2 times waiting on hold for 45 minutes before speaking with someone to report fraud. I guess the company is hurting for money and cannot issue a refund for $25. Wow, I will never use Green Dot and will tell everyone not to use that card as well. What an awful thing. I am going to have to tell my daughter that her Christmas gift was a joke!

I just activated my card yesterday. Had 35 dollars on there. I go to use my card. It's saying it a block on my card and this is the first time I'm using it. Why do I have to wait 1 to 2 days for a block to get off my card.

I have had my Green Dot Walmart prepaid money card for about 2 years. I have no had no issues with my card since I've gotten it. I use this card every month to pay my online bills and on occasion if I have left home without cash. This is the first year that I've used the IRS tax return feature that they advertise to be deposited into my Green Dot Walmart money card. I didn't think twice about having any issues with my account due to the fact that the automatic deposit is from the government. They verified who I am through my tax man and all of my identity information including my social security number. I received my tax return and used my account one time and was told that my account has been blocked. I received a notification that I need to send a picture of my driver's license in order to verify my identity. At that point my account would be unblocked.
I sent a picture that day of my driver's license specifically how they requested it very clear with my full name on the driver's license as well as my birthday and where I live. I was told I would receive a phone call or be contacted saying the results of my documents being verified. I never received any information. I had to call the number on the back of the card which stated that I can no longer use my account. My documents were not verified. My bank account had been shut off with my funds of over $2,500 and that I was banned from ever opening or using a Green Dot money card ever again. As anyone else would be I was extremely Furious and Confused. I drove up to Walmart and talk to someone in the money center who said that the card shows that I have over $2,000 on the card but I cannot withdraw anything off of the card due to the fact that it says the funds were not available.
They told me to call the number on the back of the card which I informed them I had done several times but it's just an automated voice message system and will hang up on you if you give your card information or Social Security number. I was escorted over to the customer service center for they had called a number they had on file that would talk to it actual person. After a manager got a hold of a person on the phone she transferred the phone call to the front of the customer service counter where I had to come around the counter to talk to a so-called supervisor who's name is Christian employee number **. Call informed me that there was nothing I could do that my account had been closed and had no further information for me.
At that point I repeatedly asked how do I get my money that you guys have taken from me you legally withholding. She stated that there was nothing she could do. My account was closed and my money was "gone or freed" though she was a supervisor and I requested to have her give me the phone number to actually call a human person. And she said they don't have that out but that's only for the store and continue to tell me to call the automated system switch. They do not work which I informed her and told me that there was nothing she could do is to speak to the other supervisor. She said there was no one else there. She finally informed me that corporate would be calling me between 5 and 6 the Next business day. Before her I was told by another employee as this is my second trip to Walmart that day that in 4 hours someone would give me a phone call. That lady state of she was a supervisor as well.
I never received a phone call so I ended up going back up to Walmart and having to talk to this lady. So I wasted all day Monday having to spend 2 hours in traffic two trips to Walmart and hour and a half yelling at people at Walmart and on the phone to Green Dot. Both parties with you tell me that it's the others fault. There's nothing they can do for me along with having to keep my child, who's only three years old in all of this madness while shouting out my all of my personal information they were requested and front of a bunch of Walmart customers and employees.
I spent all day Monday waiting for a phone call that I never received. It's Tuesday now. I waited all day next to the phone to never receive a phone call. I called the number back that the lady supervisor was at and asked why I was not given a phone call. One employee told me that the corporate office who was supposed to give me a call closed at 5 though I had an appointment slot time of 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. which would be impossible since they close at 5. Every employee that I had talked to seem to not know what was going on or how to fix anything. Only a corporate person including a supervisor had no idea how to fix anything.
With reading all these reviews it seems as though this is not their first runaround or first rodeo. That this happens quite often where they close people's accounts with thousands of dollars in them and pretend like you're going to go away and not try to collect your money when this is nothing to do with me. I have not done anything wrong. What they are doing is illegal. I have fully verified my entire existence from my name social security number phone number email address where I live a photo ID and still am being treated as though I have done something wrong and holding my money that the government has verified that it is me and is deposited to my account.
I was told by Christian that due to high call volumes I have been bumped to the next day. She could not tell me when they would call me between the time that they open to the time that they closed. She would not tell me why she made an appointment for me to be called after hours after the corporate office at already been closed. I am a server. I cannot have my phone on me all day so now I have been without money from Friday until Wednesday which I'm sure I won't have the funds then as well. If the corporate office does not call me back tomorrow and have this resolved and open my account and put my money back into my account and have me be able to access it and pull it out and I will never use Green Dot or Walmart Money Card anything related to prepaying with either company as long as I live and I will ensure that everyone that I know or who I can inform about this company will never use them as well.
If this is not resolved tomorrow Wednesday May 2nd I'll be calling the news, IRS as well as the Better Business Bureau and my attorney who is the top lawyer in Washington state and will be filing a class action lawsuit against Green. Who seems to be having a lot of trouble with class action lawsuits lately because of Fraud and scams and illegal actions that they are doing to their customers. THIS SCAM COMPANY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!

So I bought a Green Dot card and a reload pack. Cannot add reload pack to card you buy at store. So I order a card with name on it and try to activate the card and phone says use website, website says call customer service, customer service hangs up, 5 times. On the SIXTH call I was informed they cancelled my new card before I activate it. So now I have a hundred dollar reload pack I still cannot use and cannot get a refund! GREEN DOT IS A SCAM.

I am beyond frustrated with this Green Dot Prepaid Moneypak card and their customer service. I purchased this card from my local supermarket for $5.95 and loaded $100.00 cash onto the card to send money to someone. Per instructions on the card you are to go online on their website to secure an account log in. This is where the nightmare begins, it leaves you to dead end after dead end. It DOES NOT allow you to go any further AFTER requesting vital information to secure a login to get your own money. They require you to enter your legal name, address and social security number, it's at that moment you are denied access to a secured log in account. There is no way to even create a secured log in at all, which is absolutely needed to go any further if you choose to file a claim for a refund or even report your card lost or damaged.
I called their customer service line repeatedly only to be redirected back to the same website. Now when I call the customer service number I get absolutely NO answer AT ALL no matter what time of day or night or day of the week I call. I personally find this odd being that this is a well known prepaid card with such unprofessional practices still being sold in major retailers across the country. No way of getting my money returned to me and wondering just how many other people have been and are getting duped out of their hard earned money as well? I feel the only way to get my money refunded to me plus the money I paid for the card, would be to contact the local news station and newspaper, maybe that will get a response back. I don't know about you but I don't have $100.00 lying around to just give away to some already money making corporation.
Updated on 05/23/2018: This is my follow up to my first review on my Green Dot MoneyPak disaster in which I was stiffed by Green Dot Corporation for the cost of the card $5.95 plus the $100.00 cash I loaded onto the card since I purchased the card at a major supermarket in my hometown. I have since made several attempts to inform the supermarket of the numerous reports on Consumer Affairs made against Green Dot and their all but fraudulent practices towards their consumers and the supermarket all but called me a liar because they "wouldn't be selling the cards all across the United States, if they were" is what I was told.
So my follow up review is to let you all know, the consumer like myself who viewed the Green Dot response on my first review is all just a load of bull excrement because it leads you to no positive outcome. Again only dead ends after dead ends. Nightmare of my life. I work too hard for my money to give a $100.00 PLUS $5.95 away just for ** and giggles. Biggest headache of my life right now...

My account has been hacked with Greed Dot now twice. Both times I have called to have the transactions disputed. Both times I have moved up to speak with supervisors. Both times I have simply been lied to. The first time it happened I made purchases in California where I live then within an hour of my last purchase there were several transactions made at Walmart’s in Florida each for $100 till my account was drained. No red flags were thrown in Green Dot's system. I had to find out myself and call them and they would not do anything about it till the transaction was completed... Even then I had to call them back tell them they were completed and no longer pending transactions in their system.
Then and only then was I able to start an investigation... Never did I see that money again. This last time has caused my car insurance to be canceled not only did the customer service agent tell me that getting a new card would not affect any of my direct deposits in or out of my account but told me that she would waive the fees to have my card sent to me. Both were a lie. Now my car insurance has been canceled and my tax return has been sent back to the IRS. I asked where the customer service agent was located, her answer was, with attitude, "South Pacific but that’s not your issue." Then I will be closing my account as soon as I get the money that was stolen out of it back and I will be the first one to tell you... go to your local bank. Go somewhere you can walk into. Green Dot could not care less about customer service or the security of your money.

I have tried to speak to a person with Green Dot for almost a month regarding missing money. $388.14 that was supposedly sent to Capital One Auto Finance and then rejected and supposedly returned to the Green Dot Card. There is no human at the phone number printed on the back of the card. We have waited for hours numerous times, still no human answers. So I started sending messages thru this site and they said they would call us, so I gave them all the information they required (twice) and they still haven't called me. I am now going to the US Attorney General and any an all local media outlets that might be interested in hearing about this. The money that went missing almost a month ago was my son's car payment and as of today it will reflect on my credit report. I am not sure why I cannot get them to call me and tell me where the $388.14 has gone, as it was not returned to the card.

On March 24, 2018 my card was used by someone to make purchases on Overstock.com totaling $89.43. I contacted customer service and was on the phone for over two hours. All they could tell me was that they would investigate and it would take ten days. I've heard nothing since. The two customer services reps were beyond bad. I asked to talk to a supervisor, they said none were available. Then one of them said they were a supervisor. They allowed the fraud to take place, I simply want my money back. Lastly I called Provo Utah and they were so helpful they said call the number on the back of the card. Worst, worst, worst of the worst.
Updated on 05/21/2018: This is my second review (Fraudulent Use Of My Card). They promised I would hear something by the end of the business day on May 16th. Today is May 21st. They gave me a number to call if I needed immediate assistance. I've called it three times with ZERO responses in return... not surprising at all. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GREEN DOT... PLEASE.

My experience I guess was my fault for believing customer service when they told me my card should arrive in 10 days which was well before my departure time for vacation. My second mistake was believing the next associate and told me that they would be able to transfer money from that account to another Green Dot card that was in my possession. Neither was the case. I spent Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday talking to customer service trying to find a way to get the money that I was supposed to have almost $3,000. They extended what they called "courtesy" and transferred $300 to my other card and assured me that I would have a new card in 3 days expedited. As much as I didn't want to I made it happen. I squeaked by and borrowed on vacation remember thinking, "Wow. It would be really nice to have all this money that's mine and can prove it's mine." Obviously they just transfer some.
The card did not arrive on Friday or Saturday and the automated service said it wouldn't be there until the next Tuesday which was a week from my initial call. Because it was not expedited until Thursday even though it was charged to my account on Wednesday. You can imagine how mad I am but I played it cool and called again. This time I'm eventually told that I can only have someone from the corporate office do anything. Which would have been nice to know all week when I was talking to them when the office is open. Now I have to wait till Monday again period. It's 6 days. 6 days I had to scratch by with no money on vacation. Telling my kids we were going to Disney tomorrow making you out to be a liar like I don't have the money even though this is the money I saved in an account open with my money. Mine they weren't at all worry about receiving money...
I got five different reasons why they couldn't do it. None of them true. Once they said my account was closed. The next said it wasn't closed, one person told me there's no way they can transfer money to my other card. The next person did. The next person said they can only do it once. I convinced him to do it twice. They sent $300 because apparently that's the most money you can send. I was told my account was too new. I was told about some limit on how much you can transfer in a day. In the end nothing I needed to be done was done. Even though last person I spoke with heard me say, "I waited patiently all week and it's a gay past when you promised me I would have it and I can't wait anymore because I don't have the money to pay for this room for me and my children to sleep today. I've taken too many people who work for you to work this week so I need there to be something that we can do."
Her answer was, "You'll have to talk to the corporate office on Monday," which is 2 days from when I was speaking to her Pacific almost noon where I am. So I think it should be noted that I'm writing this now at church that was kind enough to let me and my kids spend the night. Wow. My money 6 in an account somewhere that I can't have access to for three more days. But I guess I'll just do what they told me all week and I'll be patient and wait. I can only hope that the interest they made on my money for this week was worth what they put my family and I through this week. I can't wait to take every cent out of that account but they'll probably still charge me somehow because of something that I obviously was supposed to do or I owe them.
Basically as far as customer service they did nothing to help me except extend me the courtesy of giving me some of my own money. And tell me they couldn't do it again because it was against the rules which they broke twice mind you. It really just seemed like they were messing with me. Almost the laughing in the background like, "Hahaha. This is funny because he really needs it and we won't give it to him." I run a business and I know there's guidelines and rules and reasons to do things. But they're always exceptions to the rule and reasons to go above and beyond to help your customers especially when they need. You're not a good business if you just make money. You also need to help the people whose money you're getting. And keeping their money from them is not helping them.

I purchased this prepaid card only to find out they want a lot of personal information. Social security number, full name, street address, etc. It's a prepaid card no personal information is necessary. Now I can't even get a refund without giving up my personal information to someone in another country which I will not do. They do not state on the front of the card package that personal information is required. This is nothing less then stealing from the customer.

April 27, 2018 I made a transaction through to my college niece email of 50.00 with myself being the sender, yesterday I lost this particular card and it was cancelled this morning and a new one was activated, 2 hrs later my niece informed me that she never received the email trans. of 50.00. I checked my account and noticed I had one letter wrong in her email name. I contact Green Dot four times in less than 3hrs and given the runaround all four times. I ended up having to go to and Western Union my niece the money.
I explained to Green Dot I'm disable and would need my money back which I didn't see a problem because even though I deactivated the card that was originally used I activated a new Green Dot prepaid card the same day. So of course I ask a Green Dot employee, "Can it be credited to my new card." The end result I was finally told after 3 hrs it will have to go back to an deactivated account after 10 and 14 after that I will receive a mailed check so approximately the end of May early June, when it could have been sent to my new card. This company is horrible and after this let's just say never again.

I have two different Green Dot cards. One I bought from CVS. The other I ordered online. Both have different direct deposits. My purse was stolen with all of my information and they are making it really hard for me to receive all of my money that was stolen. It's frustrating because it's been almost 13 days and they still haven't done anything. The customer service representative acts as if I'm lying and I'm just annoyed with the company and how they respond to their customer care.

Turbo Tax did both my Federal and State taxes. I elected to have both of my refunds placed on a TurboTax Green Dot Visa Card. My Federal refund was deposited with no problem but my State Tax refund was sent back when the deposit was initiated. I called Green Dot and spoke to a supervisor and all I was told was the information did not match, which is ludicrous. TurboTax gave Green Dot this information, not me. They refused to provide me with any details. I called the state and was told that after they receive the message the deposit was returned. They will try to do it a second time. After that second message is sent that it was returned again, I then wait 30 days for a paper check.
Who knows when my refund will arrive now. Maybe, June? I paid for e-filing and got nothing for this service and with no explanation on why this happened. I see Green Dot likes to reply here with, 'Oh, let us help you'. Let me tell everybody that I already spoke to customer service and then to a supervisor and nobody would help me at all. This is not stopping here with Consumer Affairs. I am taking this to every level of consumer advocacy I can, including my Attorney General. Green Dot had no right to refuse my tax refund deposit when all the correct information was given to them by TurboTax and was verified to be correct by TurboTax before I signed up for this card. I paid for a service I did not get. Buyer Beware of Green Dot. This could happen to you.

On 4/10 I received my tax refund in my Turbo Prepaid Card issued by Green Dot, however on 4/17 my card was blocked. I’ve called several times and of course I get the runaround. Corporate was suppose to call me back and they never did. Green Dot claims the IRS told them to block my card. However I’ve called the IRS because I had a tax advocate who works for the IRS go through my taxes with a fine tooth comb. The IRS is saying that Green Dot is pulling a scam because they don’t give information like that to Green Dot. At this point I’ve opened investigations with IRS, attorney generals office and US State Treasury, TPG has gotten involved since they are the buffer between the IRS & Green Dot and they’ve opened a investigation so if I got anything to do with Green Dot will be shut down and I’m suing for my 2700 dollars.

Finally the IRS released my refund money. It was deposited on that Green Dot Visa Turbo Tax card. What a nightmare. I went to the my bank to get my 7616.00 and Green Dot locked my card. I called. By the way you can actually speak to a real person if you call the Resolution Center. The number is ** , wait then select “1” then wait select Extension #**. I spoke to ** and was told I could only withdraw 3000.00 every 30 days!!! What? This is my money. Finally I said I want to close the account and I want a check sent to me for the full amount. Done!! It will take 7-10 days to get it. Better than 3 months. What a scam of a bank!! Good luck.

I have been with Green Dot for 5 years and enjoyed it. My account was blocked. When I reordered the card the card never came. I cannot upload the doc needed to unblock my card without a debit card number so I’m stuck. I would love it if Green Dot could help me resolve the issue.

So on March 15, 2018 I went to a small car dealership and was what I thought purchasing a car with 1500.00 down payment. By Monday March 19 I find out that the financing fell through and I had to return the car. I asked the dealership about my down payment being returned and he starts giving me the runaround. I contact Turbo Prepaid and file a dispute and they tell me to wait for the results by April 2nd. I call on that date and they said it was denied with no reason. I speak with a supervisor and he sends it back again. I told him basically I did not get the goods that I paid for which is TRUE! They deny it again! If they properly investigated they would know I do not have the vehicle. This company passes out cards like candy, become the overseer of your funds but don't care when you get scammed! I will never this card AGAIN!

I am very displeased with Green Dot right now. I feel like they are giving me the run out. Yes It was my fault for being a number off on the direct deposit but they told me it would be fixed to 2 days. Tomorrow will be 5 days. I can e them the trace number and the next day I called to find out what was going on, the lady told me that the trace number was wrong so we hung up. I called back to verify the trace number and talk to someone else which told me the trace number was right and she just need more info that I had already given the first time I talk to them.
They also told me that it wasn't in the Green Dot bank which is a lie because you can look the routing number up online it pulls up Green dot main headquarters in Utah. I am getting very frustrated and if something don't get done soon I will get lawyers involved. I have every conversation recorded and notes I took about what was said on every phone call. If I wasn't being lied to or felt like I was being lied to I would be more patient with this situation. If any Green Dot person would like to talk please email me @ **. I need this resolved quick. I need answered. I have kids to support. Thank you.

Turbo prepaid card closed my account due to it being compromised after sending me a card I did not order. The lady I spoke with said they would be sending me a check for the remaining balance. They informed me it would take up to 10 business days to receive it. That was on March 30th and I have yet to receive it. I can't contact anyone through customer service because it's an automated line and my account is closed. This is ridiculous, I need my money!!!

I purchased the card over a year ago, I had put $400 dollars on it at Wal-Mart, the next day I was checked my balance & it said my account was pending! Why? I did nothing wrong at all, so far I've did everything to get my money back & now my card is blocked! This company should be wearing mask, they are nothing but thieves, plain & simple!

I got my tax return deposit on the TurboTax Green Dot card, a day later they close my account because the IRS reported a different amount before TurboTax took their fees out! They are doing this ** to everyone. This bank will steal your money, ** scams!!! That's why they always getting sued. I'm currently bring a class action against these foreign **.

I was suppose to receive my direct deposit on 4/17. I contacted my employer and received a confirmation # that showed they did sent the money to Green Dot Corp. I contacted Green Dot on 4/18. They told me the issue should be resolved in 2 business days. Here it is 4/21 and after numerous phone calls, no direct deposit and no answer to what the problem is. Half the calls I made, the phone call cut off after being put on hold. Also the customer service people are hard to understand. Tracking number for this is **. Asked to speak to someone higher up that could give me some answers and was told it was the weekend. Need my money.
Updated on 04/27/2018: Green Dot sent me another card that was supposed to have my direct deposit on it. The day before I was to receive my card, I got an email stating that my card was blocked because of suspicious activity. This is the card I haven’t received or activated yet. Had to spend more time on phone trying to find out why this was done. Finally a person from Green Dot got on the phone and on his computer unblocked everything and now I have my money. Still don’t understand why this happened and I have another direct deposit coming. Holding my breath!

I received my IRS deposit as scheduled. And I had received my Turbo Green Dot Prepaid Visa as scheduled. But upon activating the card, it says the card is blocked. So I'm to upload my ID. But the upload is never successful. When I call Green Dot they say wait 24-48hrs. For what? And every time I call they ask for my phone number but last time we spoke they were to notify me. All BS. It's been almost 2 weeks. I've lost my car. Can't pay my hospital bill. Where I've been for the last 41 days. Green Dot is in the Philippines. That's the problem.

Put $130 on a MoneyPak card on Weds. Have not been able to create an online profile because their webpage says I did not send a reply text to them in the allotted 5 minutes. I have tried setting up an account at least 9 times now. I have also tried from another phone - same result. Nothing works. I cannot get a straight answer from them. MoneyPak does not have a customer service line, so I have contacted GreenDot on the phone, only to be told that I need to use the MoneyPak webpage to get help. Or, I'm told "we understand, but you need to create a profile online before we can help you."... Um, that's the problem - your technology is at fault and is not receiving reply texts. This should be a simple fix for them - everything they do is web-based!
I did speak with them through Facebook (which I find ironic) and was told they have 'escalated my situation' and that they would contact me once they had a solution. Then, someone called me yesterday and wouldn't you know it I was on the phone at work and couldn't pick up. You would THINK they would leave a voicemail - nope. So I spent another 30 minutes calling GreenDot back, going through the prompts, and finally getting someone who is not fluent in English who AGAIN told me to create an online account.
I have had a GreenDot card for over a year and NEVER had any problems until now. I honestly don't see why it is such a hassle to add money to my card - you would think that after you bought a MoneyPak card, you could log in to your GreenDot account and add the funds from there. But no. You have to go through all these additional steps. This is an absolute nightmare. Granted, it's only $130, but what SHOULD HAVE been a very easy, smooth transaction has turned into nothing but a disaster. I needed that money to pay bills online, now everything is past due and I'm stuck with $130 in limbo.

Do not use their prepaid load money cards. They are scammers. The more I research this place the more angry I am getting that they are allowed to continue to operate as a legitimate business. They have stolen $400 of my hard earned money without a thought. I just started using these prepaid cards as I am tired of all the bank fees but when I went to load this card that I had purchased at a Safeway and was instructed to submit my ID and wait 24 hours to load my money it was stolen! I have no idea how except it was cyber hacked somehow as the card never left my sight. 1st 2 times I tried to load it said invalid. 3rd time it said the money was already deposited! Deposited to who? It wasn’t me!
I thought maybe I gave them the wrong prepaid card # to load so I bought another one for $20. Lo and behold that one loaded just fine. Wow is all I can say. And forget their so-called customer service promising to get back to you within 5 business days. I’ve submitted all the necessary docs and refund claims 3 case now with absolutely no response. Incredible that they can remain open as a company that is on good standing.

Finally, the website started working after six hours or so. I was able to register and use my cards. I wrote an email to PR personnel of Greendot and requested help from Facebook site. I got a call from customer service couple of days after (nice of them) to inquire about the issue. Luckily it has been resolved without any help. Now I am changing their rating as a satisfied customer.

I purchased the Green Dot card on March 14th, 2018. Since then I have used the phone version as well as the online route to activate the card to no avail. Trying various numbers to reach a live person I have not been able to achieve someone to speak with on this matter. The store of purchase confirms that it went through on their side and it is up to Green Dot to handle this matter. I have also sent an email assistance form out along with pictures of this receipt and card and have not received a response. We are now over a month out, and the frustration is growing. I might as well have just crumpled my money and tossed it in the wastebasket.

We received a Green Dot Prepaid Visa card as a gift. Buyer beware! If you give one of these things as a gift, the recipient must surrender name, address, phone number, AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER to activate it. I read the user agreement, which states all information becomes property of Green Dot, and is shared with their affiliates. As an option, you can visit their website (awful) and opt to limit use of your personal information. I did try, only to find the only limitation option is not sharing your SSN with affiliates. NO WAY! Sad to say, $50 gift going to the shredder. Green Dot, I have no idea how you stay in business. DO NOT BUY GREEN DOT GIFT CARDS!

This company is the absolute worst. My card number was stolen so I called to have a new one sent. I was told to call and dispute the charges. I did that and the rep canceled my new card. All that they can now do is send another card that will take 5 more business days. They will not try to help your situation even if it’s their fault. I have money but can’t access it. I have no gas, no food and an 8 yr old at home. If you call the customer service number too many times they won’t let you speak with a live rep. The reps are incompetent and rude. Once I get this card I am removing all my money and going to a real bank. Green Dot is horrible and needs to be shut down. I will tell everyone I know to never use this company!

I have $50 in it and I can't access it and I can't get a real customer service agent to help. My Walmart Green Dot card has been compromised. I called customer service and the rep on the phone cancelled my card and issued a new one. She stated once the pending charges dropped I need to called to have a claim put in so that they could investigate it. That all went very smooth. My problem now is that I received an email stating I needed to upload a picture of a valid government issued i.d. like my driver's license. My problem is now that my old card is cancelled the system is telling me that the 16 digit card number I'm putting in is not valid. I tried to call to speak to someone and now that I don't have an acct number the system tells me what I already know then tells me goodbye. How the heck can I upload a picture of my driver's license if the system is not recognizing my old acct number. I need and want my funds that are on my acct. I'm at a loss at the moment and not sure how to resolve this issue. Please help!!

This is my first and last experience using this company! I used to company for the advertisement I’ve seen on the TV and Online about the tax prep services. So I processed all was well. I received my card to my house in a timely fashion, after receiving my card I followed the instructions on how to activate via (Phone). The card was activated no problem. Now I was just waiting on the IRS to release my funds. I would check every so often at “TrackMyRefund.com." The official IRS website. So when finally the money came I went to the store to make a purchase to make sure card was active and working correctly. It was fine. No worries. No problems.
After having the card a few days I’ve made a few purchases by swiping over the days. Mind you I never stated setting up an online account to track balance or any of that nature. I didn’t see the point in it when at the time I didn’t have a smartphone to even download the app. So that step to having and tracking the money via (online/phone) I never completed. Now days passed I have the card, keep it in my wallet which is always on my persons (because they will ask you if you have ever gave any of your info out) which I never did.
Well one day I was in the store and I used to card earlier in that day with no problem. Then later that evening at the store my card was declined. I thought that was funny because I had over $6,000 in my account. Didn’t think much of it but to maybe there was a limit on how much I could swipe per day; So I left there, went immediately home and called the number on the back of the card. Put in my info and was directed to an recorded voice. Stating my balance which was down to (40$) and them telling me my transaction history. On dates starting March 22, 23, 26 there were 5 online money transfers and 2 online payments made I never had the knowledge of.
After hearing that info I stayed on the phone to report the fraud and transactions I never made. I explained to them I never used online banking, they named the people the money was transferred to and the amounts. Once I stated it was all fraud they stopped explaining anything to me and stated it would be under investigation... And take up to 10 days. I didn’t feel comfortable hanging up the phone with just little info on what was happening or where my money was going. I felt like I was pushed away and rushed off the phone. So this was the 27th of March I made the complaint. I waited till the 13th day because I never heard from them (phone call, email) after they stated I would have something sent both to my house and To my email account giving me updates or the final outcome to the investigation.
That never happen. I actually had to call down there and now the number I was originally calling on the card has a set up that you put your info in and if your account is being investigated they send you to pre recorded messages that proceed to give you no info and hang up on you. (Stating that a refund check has been sent) refund as in the remaining balance that was in your account after I complained about the unauthorized transactions. So finally I did some searching and found another number where I sat on hold for an hour. Just got the lady to tell me my claim was denied. She gave no explanation! She said only thing she can redo is the file another claim and to send more supportive documents. I explained to her I can’t even access my online account to see any info. Nothing! She said I’ll file a new claim and gave me number and hung up.
So after that last call I will no longer be stressing myself out! I got my lawyer involved which is costing me, but we plan to take action and are filing suit papers! It’s been 21 days with no one sending info, replying no nothing. Bills are behind. Rent is coming. My unemployment has ran out. I work street construction so I do have a job just weather permitting when our season can start. Other than that this company has put me in a hole! And in debt!

I wouldn’t trust Green Dot with my money! They have had my tax refund for over 2 months!!! They were suppose to send it back to the IRS within 45 days but never did! So when I call to complain they ask me to resubmit my ID and it would take 2 business days to review. I called to see if my review was finished and they told me that they couldn’t identify my identity and that I would have to wait over 45 day AGAIN for them to send my refund back to the IRS! I NEED MY MONEY that I worked hard for! How would y’all feel if I hold y’all money for over 45 day?? I bet y’all would understand then! Whenever I get my money I will not be using Green Dot again... NEVER!

My card was compromised and over $1000 in charges were made. I caught it immediately, while the charges were PENDING (they were made in a city over 6 hours away). I told Green Dot not to honor the charges. They told me they had an obligation to the vendor and I could just file a dispute once they posted! And then they charged me $5 for a replacement card (which I don't want and will NEVER use). I have been getting the runaround and can't get through to their customer service now (I use the term loosely). Unfortunately, this is the only option for some people, but there is ZERO protection. Don't get your paycheck direct deposited - if someone steals your card number, you're SOL. They will do NOTHING.

I have had this card for years and never disputed a thing till this happened and so far a very unpleasant experience. It's been hell trying to get my stolen money back. So let me preface this by saying that before this experience I absolutely loved my GreenDot card. About thirteen days ago I was tending you load a MoneyPak refill to my account now card. I was having issues so I spoke to my phone and said, "Okay. Connect me with MoneyPak customer service." Long story short it was not the correct MoneyPak company and the man on the other end stole all my phones. Without notifying me or doing anything to let me know they shut off my card that I have been using for a long time. I only found out because I had a transaction declined.
I called and was told I needed to email a copy of my ID to this address, which I did immediately. Nothing happened. I have continued to call, can't get a straight answer number one as to why that card was ever even shut off when it was not involved with any transaction with MoneyPak and number two how much longer I'm going to have to wait when I have done everything that they have asked me to do. It has come to the point now that when I call they will not even let me speak with a customer service representative. Boo on Green Dot. I have honestly coming to expect more from this company as I said I was more than satisfied until recently.
This is cause major headaches and hassle in my life as I use this card to pay a lot of bills and take care of a lot of things and I have been completely unable to access my card for almost 2 weeks. So not only did I lose $600 from a MoneyPak, I lost the ability to use my GreenDot card. I don't quite understand how I get punished for someone stealing from me.
In closing when I called MoneyPak they told me that they were not responsible, and they would attempt to recover any money that might be left on that MoneyPak card. LOL money left? Give me a break! I'm in the wrong business, you can take someone's money but then you're not responsible for it when something happens to it. LMAO. What a joke. Switch to NetSpend, which I really like but let me warn everyone to not use a Reloadit pack as it will take 4 hours every time you load a pack to your safe before you can put it on a card. Once again, boo on Green Dot and boo on their service dept.

This company 100 percent ruined our spring break vacation. We purchased the Green Dot prepaid card from Safeway in Colorado. When we got to Phoenix Arizona and try to use our card it had been blocked for no reason. I called the number on the back of the card and was unable to resolve this problem. It has now been 3 weeks and I am still working on getting my money back. I have done everything their website has told me to do to unblock the card. But at this time it is still not resolved. I have done research to try and get a hold of a person at the company. And no number that I have found puts me in contact with the person. This company holds approximately $800 of my vacation money. I will never recommend this company and I will never use it again myself.

I called to obtain a permanent card as I only had the temporary without my name on it. The CSR that I spoke with was almost unintelligible, failed to update my address even though I repeated it numerous times. This resulted in my card being sent to an old address, where someone activated it. I was charged a $20 fee after loading the card, which is outrageous. Then when I requested that a new card be sent to my current address, the ridiculous woman tried to charge me another $5. I will absolutely never use this service again, and the outsourcing by the company is reprehensible. I should be able to understand the person with whom I am conducting business. Worst company ever.

I was recently the victim of a failed scam. Unfortunately, I purchased the MoneyPak vouchers but did not give the vouchers to the scammers (claiming to be Bexar County Sheriff). I have attempted over the last 4 days to load the vouchers onto my bank debit card. I have three vouchers totaling 1495.00. I have received various messages, but no money from the MoneyPak voucher purchased at CVS has been loaded on my debit card, even when told they are successfully loaded. This is unbelievably frustrating after going through what we have been through already this week!

I swear I will NEVER use this company again. It is impossible to get through to a customer service representative! I have never received my card for my tax refund (which I was planning on using to buy a car). I try to call and you need your card information, which I don’t have! I try to do it the other way where you use you SSN and birthday, it tells me my birthday is wrong! How do I even go about filing that I never received my card if I can’t even get through these stupid ** questions that state I’m wrong. I’ve been around 26 years. I’m pretty sure I would know my birthday! If someone finds a way to get through to an actual person, PLEASE help me. I’ve seen a lot of unanswered questions on here so my hopes aren’t too high at the moment.

I’ve been a user of Green Dot for years. I’ve had all my payroll checks direct deposited as well as tax refunds. I hold on to my card like it’s my lifeline. One day I got several charges from Mexico almost draining my account. I call customer service and can barely understand the CSR and we couldn’t seem to understand what the other was saying. Finally got some help to dispute the transaction and emailed the forms with the claim number and have yet to hear if I can get my money returned as my payroll checks are still being deposited and I can’t access it until my new card comes. But I never lost my card. Someone somehow was able to make a transaction with it in a foreign country and I’ve never left the United States.

I got this card to get paid earlier. The first 2 pay weeks I received it on the same day as usual, not early. The next week I got it a day early (Thursday), this excited me. Here we are on Thursday again, I thought I'd get paid but nope... Now I have to wait an extra day?? My purpose in this card was to get my pay early. This card defeats my purpose. Now instead of getting paid a day or 2 early, I'm getting charged a monthly maintenance fee. I should of kept the card my checks were originally deposited on... At least I wouldn't have a maintenance or atm fee. Needless to say I will be switching cards. Worse decision ever was getting this card.

For the most part, I love the Green Dot card as it makes it simple for me to give money to my daughters who are out of state, and sometimes my wife because I work over 100 miles from home. The reason for this bad review is quite simple, GREEN DOT has not updated their user agreement, their web page that a client uses to access their account info and the mobile phone app.
The user agreement says that if you use an in house ATM, you will not be charge an ATM fee. This the farthest thing from the truth. On your account page that you access from a computer AND the mobile phone app, you would be directed to use a 7-11 ATM which is part of the Money Pass network. However, recently if you do use a "Money Pass" ATM at 7-11, you will be charged a domestic atm charge of $2.50.
So you have a website, a mobile phone app that says if you go to this in house ATM (Money Pass), you won't be charged a fee, yet you are, the info GREEN DOT says is up to date, that boils down to plain simple theft. You can't legally charge somebody a fee without full disclosure. Even when you call up customer service and you point this out, it takes over 15 minutes for somebody to find out... "Oh, you will now be charged for using a Money Pass ATM at 7-11." WHY ISN'T THIS NEW INFO NOT DISCLOSED ON THEIR WEBSITE, THEIR APP and the Money Pass app also. Not a good way to conduct business.

I have had a Green Dot credit card for almost 6 years. I have been paid on this card, received tax money on this card, traveled with it and so much else. I have used this card in Canada for the last year - mostly online, but this is where I have been living and for a while it allowed me to maintain my US Etsy Business and that was great. Fast forward to February 22nd, 2018. I received my tax return, I went online to do some of the shopping I'd been waiting to do. At 9 am on February 22nd, 2018 I chatted with Customer Service to let them know that I was in Canada that I had my card and I was the one using it. I wanted to make sure my card didn't get flagged because I was going to be doing a lot of shopping.
An hour later my card was flagged. I was asked to send ID to prove who I was. I sent it FIVE times because I kept getting notified that the picture wasn't clear (which is weird because it was 100% clear on my end). So I get on the chat again, they're not helpful, I get robotic responses. I end the chat. 2 minutes later suddenly my card is closed forever because they couldn't verify my identity. My money is frozen and sitting. I try to call. I can't talk to anyone because my card is cancelled and there's no way around it. I go to the support FB page and ask for help. They'll call in 24-48 hours. Then they say my number doesn't work (it does). I have spent the last 45 DAYS being told I would receive a call in "24-48 hours".
This is fraudulent. This is theft of my money. I am being charged FEES for this card, being taken out of MY MONEY, that's just sitting there unable to be used by me and not being sent back TO me. No one will call me and I can't call anyone. I'm fairly certain this can't be legal. I've been promised another call tonight between 4 and 5 pm est. When I don't receive that call I'll be contacting a lawyer - but I wanted to put my story out there for others.

My husband and I both had our accounts hacked by random people from other states. I called into Green Dot. I had to give them a statement. With three weeks, we both had our money back in our accounts. So grateful they were so nice and working with us. Got calls after we received the money to make sure we were okay with what happened and what we got back. Green Dot cares about the people using the reloadable cards. I'd recommend them to anyone.

I have 2 different payroll deposits. One on the 9th and one on the 24th. Hits like clockwork. All of a sudden it is no longer hitting. The other one is every other Monday. Not hitting regularly anymore. Green Dot claims neither company after a year is not sending it. They have been getting later and later on posting funds. Spoke with a supervisor and he tells me, "Check your account tomorrow. It will hit". Very shady. My bills are set up to pay on my paydays. Very disappointed. I will be looking for a different place to have my payrolls deposited to. They also have poor customer service. If you call more than twice you're blocked from reaching customer service. Had to go in through my husband's account to be able to talk to anyone. This received a one star only due to it not allowing me to give it a zero star.

FINALLY received my Green Dot card in the mail, however it said the card number is invalid, and says I’ve tried too many times and now I have to wait 24 hours. I’m pregnant and I need to feed myself and my baby. I just want to be able to access my money. Customer service is of no help because I can’t talk to an actual human being. I’m so beyond frustrated.

My original card from TurboTax through Green Dot was stolen and most of my refund was used and stolen. When I called about acted like it was my fault and didn't wanna help. All they pretty much did was sent me a new card and closed down my other card. Still as of today I haven't heard anything about it and can't get through to nobody. So I'm getting a lawyer and suing for theft and I will be reporting this company. This is my first time being with them and this is how they do me and I see other people have had the same issues with their money stolen or their accounts closed for no reason.

This card is worthless. Do I get my money back from store, spend an hour, get activated, then told can't use it online. Only in person, what the hell you think I bought it for was to use online. Now all this jacking around lost out and lost 51 bucks on action from your junk service, can't even get a real person. Recording hangs up on you **. If I'm paying in person I got a bank card. Don't need your crap card. Only thing I bought it for was online. Pisses me off even more when say my info I give not worthy when it's all accurate to the tee. You can bet I'm gonna write my experience on Facebook, and in the teamster newsletter, bought at Casey's General store, in Cheney Kansas on 4/8/18. I can text you picture of receipt, not a clue how to get it in my computer.

I filed my taxes with TurboTax on February 9 2018 and opted to receive my refund on a Green Dot Turbo card. If I knew what I would be going through these next few months I would have never chosen that option. I have repeatedly asked for cards to be sent out. 4 to be exact and now I'm trying to just get my money on a check. This is the 2nd check that's supposedly been sent out which they told me was expedited when we spoke on phone and I now find out through Twitter it wasn't expedited. It will be two weeks. I will probably not receive this check either since I have been hearing the same thing the past 2 months. It's ridiculous and don't understand why I cant just get my money. Why it has to be this much of a hassle. If I could put zero stars I would.

There was fraud detected on my card and this company cajthed over 600$ on my card. Filing a dispute with Green Dot is excessively long. They told me it would take 10 days and they didn’t issue me any credit. This company took 600$ of my rent money and I need to wait ten days for an investigation. On top of that the rep I spoke to said they had to send me a new card which is fine. I called on the 5th day to ask about where my card was. Guess what. They never and sent it. I’m just beyond frustrated with this company. I want my money that was stolen from me. Green Dot is not very good with fraud protection. I’m hoping this gets settled soon. I’m also going to the BBB to write a review.

When my card got stolen in December of 2017 I reported it immediately. It had just been loaded with over $500 and was stolen by an acquaintance and 10 to 12 transactions immediately after the card was taken emptied my card of all the cash I had. The Green Dot Corporation sent two cards straight away that I was unable to use. I got the third card when they finally got it right. Subsequently I filed a dispute (They tell you there is a dispute form. I spent nearly an hour looking for it throughout their website... good luck with that one) so I just created my own. Send a copy of the police report along with all the transactions that were incurred by the thief.
Hoping and praying that Green Dot would stand by their policy to return to their customer stolen $$ by the unauthorized user, instead they rejected my disputes over &over again... there are other online problems that are maddening because most of the time difficult to speak with a live customer service employee; periods my experience is that nobody really cares enough to resolve your situation... Recently I received a new card I didn't order and it arrived with no instructions. Difficult company to deal with.

On the 23rd of March 2018 at 6:13 pm. I bought a MoneyPak card from the Dollar General Store. I came home and tried to add it to my card, but Green Dot site needed proof of identity, I uploaded my driver's license. I went back to add the money to my card and an error came up saying my card had already been used. There was no phone number on the back of the card. I went to the website and eventually found a support site on Facebook. They told me they would have this resolved in 5 business days. They still cannot tell me where my money is. I have rent to pay and all they can tell me is they are still looking into it.

My tax prepare had my tax refunds to go to my Walmart MoneyCard. They locked my account at midnight one night because I requested a new card at my new address. Told me my account would be closed Feb 12. No contact back. They accepted my tax refunds and then when I sent my military ID and social security card it wasn't valid proof but they accepted my tax refunds when the account was supposed to be closed.

I got paid yesterday at 4 pm, usually it has been at 12 am but my job change the time. The banks are closed by 4 where I'm from. So I decided that I was going to do the mobile deposit with Green Dot. I read about their mobile deposit and it says all you have to do is write the amount and take a picture of front and back of check and the website will walk you through. Now me being the common sense person I am I took that as once I hit submit it would then go to a page asking me if I wanted to do same day deposit next day or 5 day or whatever. Nope that not what happen. Next thing I know I'm looking at a screen that say my deposit will not be available until April 10, 2018. So now I broke, no gas in my car and light might get turned off and all cc can say is that there is nothing they can do. I feel like I need to talk to a lawyer.

My name is Ishmail **. I Recently filed an ATM Non Dispense Dispute with Green Dot on March 22nd 2018 because when I attempted to use the ATM at three different occasions to withdraw money from my account the ATM didn't dispense the money and yet I was still charged by the ATM Companies. I contacted Paytel and another ATM company and was informed that there had been issues with their ATMs Balancing out due to Green Dot Bank and their cards having a handshake issue. I was advised to receive my money back I would have to file a Reg-9 with Green Dot Corp which is a Dispute and follow the process.
I contacted Green Dot by phone to report what had happened and was informed by a Green Dot disputes supervisor to file a dispute that was signed by me and to wait 10 business days for a review even though their website stated 7 business days. I waited the 10 business days and per the IVR I was told that the Dispute was denied. After extensive research. I was shocked. I had the Receipts showing there was an error. I was able to find the receipts weeks prior showing that there was in fact Errors in the ATM. This was by the grace of God! Because if it was up to Green Dot I would've been denied for clearly no reason because when I contacted the ATM companies they explained they weren't contacted at all yet.
As of now after speaking to a Supervisor and submitting numerous emails my claim has been reopened. Each receipt has been supplied to Green Dot. Both have the receipts from the ATM transactions show the time date of the (transactions for $120 and also $100) the requested amount as well as the dispensed amount per the dispute filed. I don't understand where their Investigation Erred in this matter or where they get THOROUGH INVESTIGATION from when the ATM companies weren't even contacted. I DONT believe that Green Dot has the best interests for me OR ANYONE as a customer. To make it even worse instead of an apology I got a reopened claim and even though it's my 7 year old's birthday tomorrow and Green Dot erred erroneously I still now have to wait ANOTHER 10 business days all over again. I would Never recommend Green Dot to anyone.

So after filing with TurboTax and selecting the "Turbo Card" for payment (God don't even know why I did that), I still have no access to my funds. I spoke with people/automated services in this EXACT order. TurboTax - Turbo support - Green Dot Card services (automated) - TurboTax - Santa Barbara tax group - Green Dot Card services (automated) - SBTG - Green Dot Services (automated)... First odd thing is the fact that I know my birthdate fairly well as far as I'm aware yet Green Dot's robo man says I don't :(, card was mailed, do you want a new card - no I don't - ok goodbye. Cannot speak to a human at Green Dot.
Everyone points to Green Dot as the people with my money and they can't be reached. All I want is my refund sent to MY bank like I should have in the first place but asking someone seems impossible. Here we are 2 weeks later, no card, money sitting, no answers after at least 45 phone calls. I see others with the SAME issue and no responses from Green Dot for those customers either. I cannot wait 6 weeks for my money, I WON'T wait 6 weeks for my money. Green Dot has my funds and I'd like them returned to me in a timely manner that does not continue to cause me undue hardships.

I had my income taxes deposited into a Green Dot card because it was offered when I filed my taxes. On the 2nd of April my income taxes were deposited on to the card. I still have not received the card. I called and customer service informed me my card would be in my mailbox the next morning. No! Then I call Green Dot again and they say the card will be in my mailbox again the next morning. I informed them I had to have my money to pay my rent. They assured me the card would be in the mailbox. Now again mail had ran and no card. Now I have all my income taxes in a account that I have no way of getting. My rent is now late with a $150.00 fee for being late. I was informed again today the card will be in my mailbox in the morning.
How many times will I be assured that the card will be in my mailbox before something is done about me receiving my money? No I don't want to have another sent out and take another 2 weeks to get to me. By then I'll have another late fee on my rent. I don't understand why you cannot purchase a Green Dot card from the store and the funds then transferred to the card I'll have in my possession. Instead I'm told 3 times now the card will be in my mailbox the next morning. I'm quite upset that I trusted Green Dot with my money and have no way of getting my money and it cost me $150.00 because customer service does not seem to care that I cannot get my money!

The stripe on old card was no longer working and requested a new one. After a $20.00 charge to expedite it, it was received. Tried to activate it and found out they closed the account. Called to ask and they can't tell me. Meanwhile my children are sitting at school because there is no way to pick them up without getting gas and won't be eating for another 5-7 days until they send a check. Green Dot needs to be investigated and an attorney has been contacted.

I bought this card for my direct deposit and now, the night my direct deposit is supposed to hit, my card gets blocked and tells me money will be rejected and sent back to my employer sometime next week. I am happy to report that a refund check was issued. Apparently, they sent a green dot card (no clue why) in addition to the refund check, which arrived days later. I am glad that this does not have to go any further. I updated my rating. The main reason it is still not high is because there is no way to talk to anyone when you need resolution about things, which is super frustrating.

Green Dot wants invasive personal information that I was not willing to give, so I requested a refund. They said they would refund the money, but then sent a card that requires me to give the same information. I needed the refund in the form of a gift card, not a debit card that requires THE SAME sensitive information. Then, the old card I used to call customer service to get the refund of course conveniently says it's invalid so there's no way to do anything or contact anyone if you use the old card (or the new one without inputting all the sensitive information, for that matter). I have tried to call, and nothing makes me angrier than a bogus scam of a company that has no intention of assisting people or correcting errors. We are strongly considering legal action. This has the feel of some type of scheme, and their treatment of people's livelihood is deplorable as I look at all the comments. Shame on this company.

I got a Visa card from this company in 2016 (I purchased from store) to receive child support payments on. I was not receiving payments so never thought about it again. Here we are 2018 and was notified a payment was deposited in Feb for 60.00. I had no idea to where. Well long story short I found out and had to order a card because I never got the personalized card. When I got the card all the money I had received was taken of monthly fees. I called a spoke to them and even went over the account with them and they stated the charges were valid. How can you charge someone for a card they never received and all the way back to the mid of 2017 when the funds started coming in? Will be taking my little services elsewhere and reporting to BBB. Piece of ** company!!!

I bought a $100 Green Dot debit card at Rite Aid for my son. I went to register the card online and it says my card number is invalid. I've tried it numerous times, on the computer and phone. I cannot reach anybody at customer service because getting through the menu requires an account number, and when I enter it, it says the card number is invalid and hangs up on me. There seems to be literally no way to reach customer service to resolve this issue, which is really disappointing.

I did my taxes through Turbo Tax as I have done since 2011. Every year I get my refund loaded on the card they send. I've never had a issue until this year when they switched to Green Dot. I filed on 2/3/2018. I received an email that my money was loaded on 2/22/2018. I never received my card. IRS says the money was loaded and to contact Turbo Tax. Turbo Tax is no help because they keep giving me the same number to contact Green Dot which tells me my birthday is invalid and hangs up. It's been 2 months and no one can tell me where my $5000 is. I can't speak to a person. I'm very frustrated and need that money to move and get a car. I call almost every day. I never receive a response. I will never use Turbo Tax or Green Dot again and I'll make sure everyone knows about it.

I purchased a 500$ MoneyPak and went online to MoneyPak to load it to a card and MoneyPak asked for my ID front & back before it loaded and never did. :( So I then I printed out MoneyPak dispute form with the MoneyPak and receipt and emailed it to RR@greendot.com to get a resolution. The next business day I was told I would receive a check in the amount of 500$ in the mail to the address I provided within 10 business days and I still have not received it and it's past 12 days. It's very urgent I get my funds. I got bills, rent and a family to support.

I've had a horrible experience with this company. I have yet to receive my card or my tax funds! And I've called numerous only for them to tell me they've mailed the card to me and just continue to check the mailbox. It's been about 3 weeks now still no card! This company is hell! And I'll be contacting a lawyer soon because I truly believe they are scam artist and stealing everyone's money!

Never received any of them and am currently waiting for another that I'm positive won't arrive either because the shipper they are using has no record I have anything en route my address even though Green Dot claims the card is on the way these day expedite... My entire family is suffering and facing huge financial crisis due to failure to obtain my card from the issuer... I have major bills on the verge of debt collection automobiles on the verge of repossession... I want my money transferred to another account I currently have. This is an emergency!!!

Bought a $25 Visa card at Walgreens. Paid an extra .95 to load it with $25 for my brother (who is overseas) to purchase something for $20. After registering the card, the website informed me that there would be a $7.95 charge by tomorrow AM or after first purchase. So, for a $25 pre-paid card, I will be paying almost $9 in surcharges? That is a whopping 36% and is ridiculous. Called their number but couldn't get past the automated system to talk to anyone. By the way: Walgreens wouldn't issue me a refund and had nothing to say other than "sorry."

After being a customer and loyal depositor for almost 5 years, my android device was hacked w/ malware, stealing my debit card info (card # and CVV code) that was stored on my device, within hours of stealing over $730.00 and draining my account, Customer Support was contacted, card was frozen, new one was ordered/issued, and dispute was submitted within 48 hours of the fraudulent/illegal transactions posting. Here it is 14 days after the incident occurred, and still nothing from Green Dot Customer Support regarding my funds being returned.
These fraudulent transactions were done at a PNC Bank location and the thief was caught on camera, and they're still not returning my funds that were stolen. It makes me want to contact an attorney, contact my State appointed Attorney General for unfair business practices and allowing fraudulent and illegal activity to go unresolved and leave dedicated and loyal customers like myself, hanging high & dry and basically out over $700.00. I have tried calling Customer support, but, cannot reach a living, breathing human being. Not one Customer support representative nor a Supervisor have attempted to call me to update me on when my finds will be placed back onto/into my card/acct. Frustrated... yes, angry... yes, upset... yes, unhappy customer... yes.
Apparently Green Dot Corp, and its shareholders are who reap in the profits from each and every customer that has one of their cards... is??? OK with leaving customers in the dark when they have been blindly robbed and turn their heads and look in the opposite direction. I would request a Supervisor from Green Dot Corp HQ in California, not an outsourced lackey from overseas, contact me via phone and tell me when my money will be returned to my account. Period, point blank. Is that too much to ask for???

I bought this card through a local Family Dollar. My Bank wasn’t closed and my debit card was stolen. I go to activate it and it saying I’ve exceeded the number of times in a 24 Hour Period. I to try and activate it and I Could NEVER get a Live person. The Website isn’t a help. You can’t contact them and then it won’t even let me process a Refund. This company basically is robing people blind. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY EVER AGAIN. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE AND NO ONE HAS RESPONDED TO MY EMAILS. I even called corporate and they just left me on hold eventually hanging up. It’s really sad! I just want my money back since I’ve exceeded my number of activations. It shouldn’t be this BIG of a hassle to have to activate a card.

I’ve been calling for two weeks because my card was frozen. Now the message say that my account is closed and not letting me get my balance of 191.00. Every time I do a chat with customer service, they tell me a supervisor will call me in one business day. No call at all and it’s been 5 more days!

Activated card that was closed not even 12 hrs later - I had ordered a personalized Green Dot card online. I received it yesterday and activated it. My husband did the Green Dot to Green Dot transfer and I paid one bill and then got the notice my account was closed for suspicious activity. I uploaded my ID. Granted it was a Temporary state ID. Same address. Legible. And the whole card was closed. No answers from customer service why this happened or even to let me know how I will be getting my money back off that card. It's getting frustrating and I'm hoping someone soon will be willing to help.

I have been using the Green Dot prepaid gold card for about 6 months now, no problems but nothing particular special about it either. Until today of course. I work 3rd shift so the ability to deposit checks by photo deposit is particularly nice since I'm not always awake during normal bank business hours. I uploaded a couple of $100 payroll checks from my side job before, easy peasy no problem. The funds were immediately available. Imagine my devastation when I assume I can just do the same thing with the bigger check from my full time job. I uploaded my $1200.00 check today, verified my identity by submitting a picture of my photo I.D., and just figure the funds would be available like they had been all the other times I uploaded checks. Spoiler alert: Nope.
I certainly won't ever make that mistake again. Immediately received an e-mail notifying me that my money would be available on April 9th. Over a week from now. My Money is just labeled pending and inaccessible. Now I'm trying to figure out what in the world I'm going to do for daily living essentials like food and gas to get to work until then. I sat down and read all the fine print since I was in a panic and trying to figure out how to reverse my mistake. You can't. You can't cancel the deposit, and I didn't even get a courtesy FYI before I hit the submit button either.
I know the Green Dot people are going to respond like they have been to all complaints with some generic message about this issue currently being resolved and, "Please contact us so we can help with this issue." The fact is I have no leg to stand on and I'm BY FAR not the only person who has been screwed out of their hard earned money in the name "fraud protection". I know they're not going to release my money or let me cancel the deposit. Not even gonna bother calling them crying about it. I just wanted to warn anyone else before they made the same mistake. Green Dot just does whatever they want when they see fit from transaction to transaction. Never know what you're gonna get.

Robbing their own customers... deactivated my card because of a dispute then charged me 5 bucks for a replacement without telling me... THEN CHARGED ME 15 TO EXPEDITE THE card. All on top of locking me out of my own account and own money because of a simple dispute. This company is utterly pathetic and do nothing to help you as a customer. It's quite pathetic.

To start I am extremely disappointed with the security of Green Dot money card. On March 25th 2018 I called to check my card balance to find out my card info had been compromised and almost 1600 dollars drained from my card. Upon further investigation I find it was used 25 times on the same day for the same amount at a store in Mexico. I mean come on how can that not see that's something is no right. So I call the number on the card and dispute the charges.
Customer service was a joke. Broken English and very rude etc. I put a stop on the card with is down to a little over a 100 dollars. At this point I'm told that it will be investigated and that will let me know in ten days the outcome. What a joke. I've never been to Mexico and live in the United States and 25 charges same day same amounts it don't take a fraud specialist to figure out it's not me. I'm not very confident I will retrieve my money back. If I don't I will seek a attorney. I can prove it was not me. I have also filed a police report and reported it to all related government agencies. So again I would never use Green Dot. Security is nonexistent. And one way or another I will retrieve my money.

This has to be the absolute worst company! I called to report a card never received. Was told one would be expressed via FedEx which never was done! I received a card by regular mail but could not activate it. Not like would matter since the $500 Plus dollars I had sitting for over a week in the account while I was waiting on my card just disappeared. When you call all you get are excuses about technical difficulties or how there is nothing they can do. You just have to wait half your life for a case to be resolved by the technical Dept and forget calling for updates because no one not even supervisors have any information to provide.
Not can you speak with this mythical technical support person that is working your account. You just must wait 3 business days for it to be completed. Oh! But that's where they get you cause the 3rd day falls on Friday and they have till midnight so when you find out it's all smoke and mirrors you have to wait till Monday for it to be worked on again. Nothing but uninformed liars, who blame the company having technical difficulties that seem to be unfixable and it's at the customer's inconvenience and expense. DO NOT TRUST OR DO ANY FORM OF BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

It's now been 4 weeks and if I didn't place a call to have a "NEW" card sent then who knows! TurboTax you are far from it!!! PS. Used TurboTax to file. They gave me the option to get my refund direct deposited to my bank or get a prepaid Visa. I never received the card. The IRS states that it was deposited, with the account number, etc. in FEBRUARY. I cannot get a person on the phone and every time I put in my birthdate on the automated line, it tells me that it's invalid. UMMMM I've known my birthday since I was 3. I want this stupid card so I can take my money out and be done with this terrible experience. If I could give it negative stars, I would. Oh and TurboTax will be hearing from me too.

Called customer service to ask for a replacement card as mine is damaged. They informed me that even though it was just damaged they would have to close my account and issue a new card. This would put a hold on the money I have on the card until I could get the new one. This is total B.S. I still have the card so why can't they just issue a replacement? The cards are made of such cheap plastic. They split very easily. Also, their MoneyPak is a joke. You can load it up and then find out that the card has really low limits on uploading MoneyPaks to the card and then it takes forever to get a refund check. Also, all their customer service people are in the Philippines. If you need actual help don't expect it from this company. Absolutely disgusted with their service.

My prepaid debit card was compromised 2 weeks ago. I contacted customer service over 20 times and only goes through an automated system. I filled out the dispute form and sent it in and still have not received any feedback after a week ago. In addition to this my card now reflects a negative balance which should be impossible with a prepaid card. Customer service has been horrible and the transaction dispute process is even worse.

I have two complaints. I loaded $500 onto a card at CVS, and when I try to take money off the card, it says it's invalid, although the receipt from CVS says the card is activated. I tried to call customer service but can't get through to a representative because I don't have a valid card number. I emailed but haven't heard back from them. I also had $500 stolen from another card, and I can't get through to customer service to see if there is still money left on the card. If customer service was faster they may have been able to cancel the card before the scammer got the money. I simply want a refund, and hope they will resolve this issue in a timely manner.

400 dollars was taken off of my Green Dot card. I disputed the transaction and a new card was sent out. The card is blocked. I have sent in my DL picture 10 times and it still states it is not legible. This is ridiculous. I cannot get anyone on the line. This is frustrating. I will never use this company again.

It's been two months ago when I had called to dispute some unauthorized transactions, which they disputed but have not gotten a response in whether they have been reversed and funds added back to my account. Due to those transactions I was suppose to receive a new card in the mail and the old one cancelled, which after two months of waiting I have finally received. During those two months though they charged me monthly fee for a service that I wasn't able to even use.
Upon receiving the card I try to activate it and I find out I am blocked from my account. I registered this account with a different phone number which I no longer have and do not know my password to the account and am not able to transfer or create a new account due to that, and cannot get a hold of a live specialist over the phone to contact them to get any of this resolved. This account has my direct deposit from my federal disability loaded upon it, which now I cannot access it or resolve any of this with a live agent. At this time I cannot afford to not have access to my disability money.

I used the bill pay option on the app as I do every month for my car payment. One charge of $250 and the next morning there was a double charge equal to $500 and it's going to take 2 weeks for a dispute on their error. This is unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend this card on this type of risk. It's like talking to mindless robots to talk to through customer service. I've lost my faith in this company. I hope to get my money back and cancel.

I received an email and when calling in the 800 number it says I received my direct deposit yesterday and it is still not showing up in my account?? I loaded $80.00 on my Green Dot Walmart card, so I could pay my electric bill. The transaction was denied, and I now have no electricity in my home, as I had no other way to pay the bill, so power company shut me off. I called to no avail to find out why I couldn't get my money, and found that customer service is NON EXISTENT. Great, so now I'm out $80.00 bucks, and no way to talk to someone about getting my money back. I am beyond angry. How can ANY BUSINESS get away with operating with no customer service? Does this company even exist, or is someone just sitting back laughing somewhere on their yacht while raking in billions from unsuspecting people like me?

I recently got a card at the store that is coming back as invalid. I sent an email filling out a form with a picture of my receipt, but I’m anxious they never got it since there was no confirmation email of any sort. The business recognized the mistake and quickly issued a refund but Green Dot has YET to return my funds. This last couple of days have been pure hell, as there is NO NUMBER to speak with a LIVE agent!!!! Green Dot is HANDS DOWN the absolute WORST customer service experience of my life! Severing ties with this scam IMMEDIATELY! So pissed right now!!!! The "chat" is also a joke with generic answers to EVERYTHING and nothing of substance.
Visit their FB and read the testimonies of people BEGGING for their money back!!! It is a trifling SHAME the way customers are treated! DO NOT UTILIZE GREEN DOT EVER!!!! I even had to cancel important doctor's visits due to NO money for copays and prescriptions, because GREEN DOT HAS MY FUNDS HOSTAGE AND WON'T EVEN SPEAK TO ME!!!! Furious!!!!

So everything was so great with my cash back rewards card. Then they blocked it. I paid bills through Facebook and auto insurance with MY NAME ON THE TRANSACTION. I've been loading money to my card but I think the lady just kept over swiping when loading it that blocked. I've sent my ID a thousand times but it's still blocked. I can log in online but when I call or use the app I'm blocked. I can't believe this. I've never had trouble and now I have my direct deposit supposed to be in my account tomorrow but doubt I will be able to get it. My money from MoneyPak and my direct deposit is what I have to live off of. I can't do anything and I can't even talk to a real person. I'm so frustrated. It's insane. I've been such a great customer and now this. Please help so I can eat and have my card back. I can't pay bills or live without my card.

I had my company wire money to my mother since my prepaid card would not take wire transfers. After making two Green Dot Moneypak purchases of 400 dollars. Green Dot website loaded the funds and then instantly reversed it. I spent a whole day trying to speak to someone at Green Dot. The only way you can speak to them is if you buy their card. I have tried loading the card several times after and it says it's not a valid card. I have no idea where my money is. I'm pissed.

Never received any of the e cards with my tax refund on it. Paid for expedited shipping. Never received that. Finally just asked for my money on a check instead. They said it’d be here 3.26.2018 and still haven’t received. Feels like they basically just took my money and I can’t even speak with anyone.

I did my taxes through TurboTax and I’ve received a card from Green Dot but I can’t activate it because it says that my card is blocked and now it’s saying I can’t use this card anymore but I never got to use it because I couldn’t activate it. I put the last of my tax return on my Green Dot card. I was to be using the funds to pay the rest of my bills. As I went to pay off a large bill my payment was denied. I thought perhaps the business just wouldn't accept Green Dot cards so I contacted them directly (something that seems virtually impossible to do with Green Dot.) They informed me they do in fact accept Green Dot and offered to process my payment while I was on the phone to no avail. I then begin the lengthy process of trying to contact Green Dot. I was informed by an automated system that my account had been closed and to send in identity verification of which I immediately complied.
I waited the 2 business days, tried to pay said bills again and it still did not work! I tried to contact Green Dot yet again to no avail only to find out not only is my account closed but it's closed permanently! They have around $1,000 of mine of which I desperately need to pay my bills! Do not waste your time, no amount of convenience is worth the hassle & stress of dealing with feeling like your money has been stolen from you.

Green Dot blocked my account and rent is due. There was no prior notice. I called and was asked to verify attempted transactions. I did that and was placed on hold. I was then asked to send front and back copy of my driver’s license and to put a bar case number provided by them in the subject line. I didn't this only to be told they will verify my information in 2 business days. I don't get this 2 business days mess considering I provided the requested documents. I take care of my 73 year old father and we have rent to pay.

I filed my taxes with TurboTax online and my refund was issued via the Turbo prepaid card. I never received my card in the mail and I called and reported that I never had received my card and that my refund showed as having been issued on the IRS website. I was told I would be receiving new card in the mail and then I was told that my card had already been activated and used by someone else so they would have to file a dispute of all the charges and that I would be receiving a refund check in the mail within the next 10 days. Day 11 I received a refund check in the mail for $.29 when my refund owed is a little over $9000!!! So where is the rest of my refund??? I tried to call and speak with somebody but now that they closed the account when I enter my social security number I get a recording that says my entry is invalid and they cannot find my card number or account info from that social so please enter my card number.
I cannot get past this on the automated phone line because I have never received a card so I have no idea what the card number was. This is bull. They have basically jacked my refund from me and blocked me from being able to call through or get a live person on the phone. I want my money!!! It has now been Two weeks since I reported not receiving my card and yet I still have not received a single email or letter in the mail in regards to this dispute. I still cannot reach anyone via phone and the only thing I have received from them is a check for $.29 that came with absolutely no letter or explanation as to where the rest of my money was or when I would receive it. I feel I have been scammed and robbed by them and I want the rest of my money. Why havent I even been notified of what is going on?

Cardholder subscribe for a full monthly membership of $39.95 and the $5.95 ch download a pdf report through their website.
The account is successfully cancelled and a refund was process. It will take 3-5 business. The disputed charges were made within the ch state in CA city of CITRUS HEIGHT. Unable to reach the merchant due to (ATM) Transactions. Pin Swipe no cb rights funds were not drained immediately. Funds used FEDERAL REFUND. No balance inquiry. There are multiple declined transactions due to exceeds ATM daily limit...”
3/31/18 I respond: “So basically what you are saying is that I will not be getting my refund now? How can you deny my dispute when I never even received the card? I’m not disputing transactions, I’m disputing not receiving nor activating my card. How is the fact that the funds were not immediately drained even being used as evidence when it shows there were multiple declined withdrawal attempts so just because funds weren’t immediately drained doesn’t mean they weren’t trying to drain them but the card kept getting declined. Also, had I been the one using the card I would have called the minute my transaction was denied and when I had called and reported my card not being received, customer service told me that some of the charges were still pending and that I was going to be getting those funds immediately!!!
I never received those funds or a new card! How can you say that no error occurred and then refuse to give me my refund? This is **, I want my money!!! Also how was there no balance inquiry done when the person I spoke to on the phone told me that someone (they believed it was probably someone I knew since they knew all my info) used the card and set up online account access to the account. This is absolutely ridiculous. I have 5 children relying on me and my refund to get by. I did not receive my card and I did not get any of my owed refund. You received my refund on my behalf for me from the IRS and yet all I received from you was a check for $.29 out of over $9000!!! That’s $9000 of my money you received but are now refusing to hand over. I’m going to sue!!! You’re a scam and a thief. I want my money!!!”
UPDATE: 4/3/2018 - I still have not received another response back from Green Dot nor have I received any of my money back. I have been robbed of over $9000 and they are claiming no error occurred... How is someone stealing my card not an error!!! And what happened to the $5.95 and $39.95 that KRPCB.com refunded? Where is that money at and the rest of the refunded money from the other merchants? All of that is my money that is owed to me!!! How can you just keep it when it’s not yours to keep? And what about the $740 in charges that were still pending when I reported my card not received?
I was told those transactions were all being cancelled and that I would receive that money back to my new card immediately yet I have never received any card and I never received any check either, so where is that money? How can you possibly keep saying that there was no error and I’m owed nothing now? I am going to report this to the news, to the IRS, and to my attorney because if you won’t give me my money which is rightfully mine then I will sue you for it!

I have purchased many Visa gift cards from Walmart over the years for a business. Once that business stopped accepting these Visa gift cards I looked into options to cancel and be refunded. On the website Walmartgift.com I was able to register all my cards and then there was an option to cancel the gift card "Support - cancel gift card." When I did this it said the following: "Thank you. We have received your request to close your Gift Card. Please expect your check for the remaining balance in the mail in 7-10 business days." The balance of the card was brought to zero so I felt confident I would receive my check in the mail. It has now been almost four weeks and I have not received a check greater than $2. I canceled about 35 cards worth about $8,500. I've tried to call multiple times but no one is intelligent enough to help me with this issue.
I've receive a few letters stating I would need to send in the receipts and copy of the cards and other information. They asked me to list a case number. But on the letter they did not provide which case number goes to which card number. Some of these cards were purchased many years ago and I may not have the receipts! I asked if the funds could be put back on the cards if I cannot find the receipts and they told me no! This is completely wrong and Green Dot is stealing from me and not honoring what they promised by saying I would receipt a check in the mail. Nowhere when I hit cancel gift card did it say I needed to mail in a bunch of documentation to get the refund. If you can't issue the check please just put the funds back on the cards? Can you please put me in touch with someone at Green Dot Corp who can assist me with this issue?
I have all of the gift cards and all of the numbers on a spreadsheet. I have hundreds of receipts. How am I supposed to know which receipt goes to which card? Again, I was aware that I would be required to mail in all of the documentation to get my refund checks (receipt, copy of the cards, ID, social security number, etc). I would like to talk to someone who can help me resolve this issue (either issue a refund check or put the funds back on the cards).
Again, I have purchase over 2,000 of these gift cards and have hundreds and hundreds of receipts. The refund policy needs to be more clear on your website as it did not state I would need to mail all of this documentation in to get refunded. And even if I mail it all in a "decision" will be made to determine if I will be refunded?? This is ridiculous. The only phone numbers for Green Dot are to a customer service agent in India who cannot help at all. I am accumulating interest and late fees on my credit cards until I receive the $8,500 in refunds.

Green Dot took $500 from my mom, and then, won't allow me to add the funds to my card, which is an eligible card. I have been using a personalized Green Dot card for several years now. I am traveling out of state to do some work for my parents, and they wanted a way to easily reload me with money while I was gone. I suggested MoneyPak, since they will only have to text me a number and I could transfer the funds onto my card. MoneyPak used to be the ONLY way I could load funds onto my card before they started doing it at the register.
So my mom buys a MoneyPak and puts $500 onto it. She gives me the number, and it appears that I can no longer reload from my Green Dot login, so I had to create a MoneyPak login. To reload, I was asked for my MoneyPak card number and my Green Dot Visa card number, which I entered. It then asked me for a picture of my photo ID. This is new to me, but I did as requested. 30 minutes later I received an email stating that my ID picture was illegible. This doesn't make sense since I was able to read everything on the picture I submitted. The email also stated that I need to go back to the MoneyPak website and try again. Here's where it get's suspicious!
Upon reentering the numbers, I am getting an error message stating that the MoneyPak number is invalid. MoneyPak does not have a customer service number, and only provides a PDF form, which is difficult to save without losing what you have typed, and you need to do it in order to send the form to some random email they give you. I emailed the form, as instructed by their website, along with pictures of the receipt and MoneyPak card. It has been 3 days, and I have not even received a reply letting me know that they received my email to begin with. That's a long time to wait when they have your money, and you have none!
I called Green Dot customer service, which is typically very frustrating and unhelpful. It sounds like every agent is in India, and are following basic scripts, and really aren't ever able to help. The rep that I spoke to said there's nothing wrong with the MoneyPak card, according to his records. After I insisted that it is not working several times, he put me on hold. After a few minutes he came back and said a fraud claim had been put on the card, and I would need to file a fraud claim with MoneyPak. Completely different story than what he had just told me moments before. I hang up and log onto the website so I can file a claim, however the claim form asks for the MoneyPak number, and it won't submit the claim because it is stating that the MoneyPak number is invalid. Absolutely Ridiculous!! First of all, there was no reason to freeze this as "fraud." Second, I never would have known if I didn't insist the CS operator look into it.
I tried calling back, but now the customer service line has an automated intercept tool that states, "We've noticed you have already called from this number..." and then it asks me to choose an option. Of course my problem is not listed as an option, so I have to choose the closest match, since you CAN'T bypass it. Then I sat on hold for a full hour and no one ever answered. Super suspicious if you ask me! So now I have $500 in limbo, no customer service to call upon, and no customer support regarding my email. It looks like my only option at this point is to speak to my attorney and file a lawsuit against this suspicious company.

I called March 13, just to reverse charge. It was all the money I had. I'm a disabled senior without a computer having to take paratransit. A week later I was told the retailer had the money and a dispute had to be executed and they would send a new card. I informed them I need it before my SD was deposited. Was to get it on the 22nd no mention of a block. At this point I have no food need medicine and bills are sent back late fees more bills not paid. I have very limited funds. This will set me back. No card till the, 26th only to find out I can't activate because of the block that I did not request. No computer must mail proof and then they dropped the bomb my check will be sent back to treasure SD. OMG! 0!!!! Disabled. No food. No medicine. No bills paid. Possibly rent problem. How can this happen??!
I read I'm not alone. I have had my account for over 6yrs. I just wanted a fraudulent charge reversed. Now what a horrible time. Customer service was so hard to get I cried and cried so afraid for what I could do no one to talk to. Finally found a Corp. Number and licked out. To no avail. Steve **... Has a horrible customer service and might have to try new scripts. To not have compassion for in need of the money the customer should not have a life and death experience for what is theirs. I talked to disability and they can't believe. A disability advocate will be in touch with me... In the meantime I hope my mailed proof is able to unblock before I become homeless or in the hospital.

I used MoneyPak on Saturday for $200 upload to my debit card on file. Everything worked smoothly so I was excited to deposit my rent money onto my MoneyPak account again today. I went to Ralph's as I did on Saturday and added $495 to a GREEN DOT MONEY PAK reload card. I arrived home, entered my MoneyPak card # and cell phone # ending in ** to DEPOSIT FUNDS from MoneyPak card to my debit card in my account profile. However, this time I was asked to VERIFY MY IDENTITY by uploading copy of my driver's license. I was happy to oblige. I successfully submitted the upload and received an email saying that my verification was approved and successful. The email advised me to go back and LOGIN and proceed forward with FUNDS DEPOSIT.
PROBLEM: As soon as I entered my cell # and the MONEY PAK # I got an ERROR MESSAGE that said: "deposit failed. MoneyPak number has already been used" (I guess the system duplicated the entry when asking me to verify identity to begin with and then asking me to go back and enter the info *AGAIN*). A COSTLY GLITCH but definitely not my fault. I became so afraid my money is lost in this SYSTEM ERROR and began searching for customer service numbers and emails. I sent in emails and tried calling several numbers. I can't believe this is happening and that there is NO ONE TO TALK TO.
I am considering contacting local news media and social media for help reaching someone who can get GREEN DOT to put my $495 on my card. I did everything right. I have copies of everything. I need money now. I have bills to pay. I appreciate GREEN DOT for being accessible but you guys also need TECH SUPPORT. Thanks for making this right. I am willing to spread the word of a successful outcome. Please respond.

UPDATE ON 04/24/2018: I still haven't heard back from Green Dot after submitting my complaint to Consumer Affairs and after Green Dot responded that they would resolve my issue within 2-3 business days. The incident where my money was LOST in their MONEYPAK RELOAD system and I reached out to Consumer Affairs for advocacy, was almost 30 days ago. So now, I have gone forward and notified the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and the ATTORNEY GENERAL because Green Dot is not cooperating and keeping their word thru Consumer Affairs complaint system.
Next, I will be contacting media, social media and LEGAL REPRESENTATION. How I went from loading my money based on trust in their advertising, to being BROKE and almost HOMELESS in the matter of seconds is mentally disturbing. But the further PAIN AND SUFFERING is occurring as the days pass and there's no end in sight to where/when/how to get this wrong made right. I trusted Green Dot to upload my money safely and then I trusted them when they said the would RESOLVE MY ISSUE speedily. A company that falsely advertises and harms their customers in this way should not be allowed to exist. I am losing my patience.

I been using Green Dot almost two years and never a had a problem up until today March 26, 2018, I made one purchase and two transactions, and when I tried to do another transactions it said my card declined, so I log in to my account and it said your account has been blocked and is pending further review. So I called Green Dot to see what was going on which took them over twenty-five minutes to answer the phone, I ask what is going on with my account and why I can't access it, the agent said, “Because suspicious activity your card has been blocked.”
I ask what suspicious because I never had that problem up until now and how come all of a sudden on payday and a hour after money direct deposit in my account my account become suspicious and my card block. So he said to, “Send in a photo state ID. No duplicate copy front and back to the email that I'm going to give you, and after you have sent a photocopy or document call Green Dot back in 24 to 48 hours business days”, but I call back a hour later after I sent document of verification to see have Green Dot got my ID, but all I get is a recording saying, “We see you have called several of time's. Give us 24 to 48 hours to view the document we ask you verify”, ok now I have did everything Green Dot ask. Now I'm waiting for my 48 hours and I want answers.

After using the online ID upload. I was told it would take 1 to 2 days. I still have not received confirmation of the ID verification of my $300. It's been almost a week. I'm hungry and broke. I had a problem with a merchant not providing fuel for the $200 that was removed from my account. After 15 mins on hold I talked with a "supervisor" who assured me that my account had been credited with the money. Upon checking my account I found the money had not been returned, and when I tried to talk with the "supervisor", again was hung up on several times. The counsel of record is John ** of **. Don't bother trying to call. He turned off his phone. Bar complaint coming! If Walley World hadn't removed any other options in this marketplace I would drop these folks like a hot rock.
Was a time government would help the little guy, but our representatives have been bought by these thieves. Elections are coming, start demanding your representatives work for you, not them. Peace!

I purchased a Green Dot prepaid Visa at Walgreens a couple weeks ago and loaded $200 on it at that time in order to pay a bill. When I tried to activate it online I received the message that it is an invalid card. (Yet it was valid enough that Walgreens took my $200 to load onto it). Ever since then I receive the message that I have exceeded my daily attempts and try again in 24 hours, EVEN WHEN I WAITED THREE DAYS TO TRY AGAIN. When I call, I cannot get a live person at Green Dot at all and the automated system tells me I can only register this card online, not by phone.
So I am stuck in this cycle of no person to help, phone says do it online, online says, "Nope. Wait 24 hours and try again" FOR A COUPLE WEEKS NOW. Meanwhile Green Dot has my money and my water has been shut off ever since the day after I put the money onto this card. Thank you Green Dot, my kids and I appreciate that so much. It’s ridiculous and it is theft plain and simple. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SCAM COMPANY.

Very poor. They closed my account. And I still have funds. Over 800??? I’m about to call BBB. And take them to small claim courts or supreme court if not resolved. I’m already in the process of doing so.
Updated on 03/31/2018: Already sent documents several times and they closed my account. Been months. I sent it again. I mean what else do they want. They have my identify like come on I'm about to lose my car and my house 'cause they wanna close my damn account.

I bought and loaded card with $48 specifically to use for online purchase. Card would not work. Had to exchange emails with customer service because live person was not available. I was given runaround and supervisor never called me back as promised. I spent $1.95 plus $7.95 monthly fee for card I could only use in store. I could have used cash for that! That's ridiculous. I'll never use again or recommend this card to anyone.

My Turbo prepaid Green Dot card was stolen. I made a police report and then called customer service. All they told me was to fill out a dispute form which I can't find online and that they will get back to me in 10 days. Well what about my $. I can't and shouldn't have to wait 10 days to find out if they are gonna give me my money back. I have kids that need to eat and live. They could have offered to put even just partial of the money back on till the investigation is over. I do have a police report and I shouldn't be treated like I'm the criminal. Nor should my children have to worry about where the next meal is gonna come from because we have no money now. Horrible way to treat your customers. I don't think I will use TurboTax or Green Dot Bank again.
Updated on 04/04/2018: So the investigation is taking longer than what they had originally thought which I'm ok with, I do understand there were a numerous amount of charges that I am disputing but what I am not ok with is Green Dot telling me that I could request to have funds credit to my account until investigation is over and then when I call the rep said no they don't do that, well that's not what it states in your bank's policies and procedures. So I reach out to Daniel the same guy who answered my Consumers Affairs report and it's now day 2, 2 messages left and no return call... I need some funds for my family to survive until all this is settled. How are you gonna say call you if I have any concerns or need anything but then you don't respond. Green Dot is so unprofessional, and they have a lack of willingness to wanna help their customers... I'm done with this shady company.

I have used Green Dot MoneyPak before and haven't had issues with it, but today I was trying to send money to a friend out of state in need. I tried 3 eligible cards as per the Green Dot website. I need help in getting to the bottom of this as quick as I can and I do not want a refund 3-4 weeks later especially when it took all of 1 minute to take my money!

I liked it at first until I was overcharged a transaction from my daughter's school and when I was refunded and got a new card you guys locked my card and I have been going back and forth with you guys since February to unlock my card with my money on it. Filed my taxes. Requested your card to be mailed with refund on it. 20 days later still no card. I have over 5000 floating around God knows where. I call and whoever answers is hard to understand and says to wait. This is unacceptable. I need this money and no one can tell me where this card is with my money. Will be calling Monday and someone better have some kind of answers for me and get me my card. Will not use this service again.

I have been with Green Dot for a very long time. I experience identity theft and I explained to the customer rep. She stated that since the person used my account and routing number there was nothing they can do about. I disputed and was denied. Three weeks later they took more money put... Green Dot allowed these transactions occurred when I already called and let them know that this happen. Asked to speak to supervisor. She stated they going tell me the same thing. Basically I came to my conclusion there is no security measures with Green Dot.

Spent the most part of Friday speaking to ignorant customer service. After explaining that we got a MoneyPak card for 200 to add to Chime card they didn't know what I was talking about. Said that I can't use MoneyPak, yet I did the first time using this. Then told me to call Green Dot because Chime isn't responsible. After calling AGAIN throughout the day I'm told they will escalate the problem and said monies will be on my card in 10 minutes, they LIED. I called again and the CSR chick didn't see that I had called all day but that they did get a copy of receipt at the time I told her since I did it while on the phone with CSR. She put me on hold and it continued to ring for 77 minutes until I took phone off speaker and hung up.
This is what I get for assuming I would get good service. I am out $200 and 6 hours of ignorant phone service. I have complained but we know what happens to that. So my plan is to use all 3 cell phones and call them continuously over the weekend and through Monday. Way to go days off!! If nothing come from my abusive phone calls I'm going to call a lawyer and have him get me $200 plus my time and his and any other damages I can sue for. Both CHIME and GREEN DOT. Both need to do something about their lousy services.
Customer Service said they were out of San Francisco but none could name any place in S.F. people see. Didn't know across street from where they are or nearby city. So much for customer service. When asked for a supervisor besides the idiot I got I was told he was the ONLY supervisor there. Please, when lying, be convincing. I'm from the Bay area, lol. I believe somebody needs to stand up and let these crappy companies know that they can't treat people like this, PLUS take their money! Whew, I'm done.
Updated on 04/05/2018: I have been calling every day and keep getting NOTHING. I get copies of in house emails and promises of escalation yet they don't even know that dep't number. Can't trust these idiots and can't bite them. What to do??? Nobody and I mean NOBODY calls or acknowledges that they even get calls. Got an email saying funds are ready and NOTHING call again and now the money hasn't been found.

First it takes over an hour to get ahold of a person to talk to in most cases. I have given up on following up with transactions that I have not made to get my money back. Also at one point I received my money back from a dispute then it was taken back from my account without notice and 'til this day I have yet to see my funds. I’m currently waiting on a dispute to be resolved from Jan 10 2018 and today is March 23 2018 and every time I call it takes almost an hour to speak with a rep so I hang up. I cannot blame the reps. The issues is the process I have to go through to resolve a dispute. I never get any followup calls or text or emails. So the service really sucks.
I would never recommend this card to anyone because of the service. They don’t resolve anything on the spot and you must jump through many hurdles to get any type of resolution. I feel like they take advantage of the fact you can’t get through to speak with anyone so many people just don’t bother. I would like to get my money back from a dispute so I can close this ** account that has given me nothing but headaches!!! Don’t use this card. It’s a piece of ** and at the end of the day they stole from me and was never given a reason why!!! Horrible service and not worth the headaches that this company will give you!!! We purchased a Visa Credit Card and put some money on it at our local Walmart. Had some issues when we went to activate the card as asked for SS#. Not sure why when you are just getting a pin #. We tried using the card and found out they have blocked are card. We went through the block procedure and now when we call the automated system it says we were unable to verify documents this card is now CLOSED.
You can not open any additional cards with this bank. So they have closed are card with our money on it. The Customer Service Department said it would be 1 or 2 business days till we would get a callback. That was via chat can never personally talk to anyone. We are now on the 4th business day with still no contact. There has been no effort to resolve the issues that we are experiencing. I would not recommend using their company; phone in system is all automated and we are unable to talk to an actual person to resolve our problem. Very hard to resolve issues if you can not talk to an actual person.

I’ve been trying to reach a LIVE PERSON since 3/18/2018 and have yet to speak with one. I tried you using the card after I activated it and it was an epic fail. I was told my pin was incorrect and I’ve had the same pin for all my cards since I was 20, so I know that’s incorrect. I tried to rectify this problem and contacted CS and was told through a automated message that I needed to fix it on the website. Ok, cool. Then I was told my birthday was wrong??? It’s ** which is this **??? I just need someone to help me rectify this foolishness so I can get my money off this card. I only did it to pay a bill. And please don’t say call the number on my card because THERE IS NO OPTION #5. So with that being said I would appreciate a solution.

I signed up for Green Dot card through tax company for direct deposit of my refund. The card was to be mailed, and I never got it! So I call, they tell me no problem, they will expedite card for $25 and it would arrive in 2 days. GREAT! 2 days pass I check the mail, of course no card. So I call and they say my account is BLOCKED! Wow! Need to send in ID... nobody emailed me or tried to get in contact with about the card was not going to arrive. Now I sent in ID. They said they didn’t receive it! My utilities are going to be cut off and I need my money. Please help me, this is ridiculous. The money is there and it’s mine! Never will I sign up for a prepaid anything again... I’m in tears!!!

I have been a Green Dot user for several years now. I have used my card for traveling as well as the day to day articles without a problem until now. I was sent funds 2 days ago and those funds haven't shown up in my account. What makes me really annoyed was the double talk that I received when I inquired to the customer service agent on where are the funds and why hasn't it registered. The amount was small, the load of BS was huge. Most unhappy about this situation because it leaves me in a bind and robs me at the same time.

I bought this card and put 100 dollars on it and when I went to activate it online it said it was invalid and to call the number on the back of my card. When I called the number I said I needed to activate it online. So now I have a card that is invalid with no money on it and my money is missing. I have called every Green Dot number and they all say the same thing and hang up. No one will connect me to a real person to resolve this issue so I can have my money. By far the worst card I have gotten.

I purchased my Green Dot card earlier today, using the last bit of money I had to pay a bill that is due today. I tried to register my card online, in which the website stated that the card was invalid. So, I tried to register my card over the phone but was instructed by an automated system to register online. I contacted another number in which the automated system stated I did not have any funds. I have attempted numerous times to contact a real person to discuss this issue and have been unsuccessful. This is the last bit of money I have until April and I am unable to contact anyone to resolve this issue. I had a very important bill due today and trusted that Green Dot would aid me on completing my transaction.

For several months now I have been using the card with no problems. Suddenly I get a block on my card and you ask for verification to be sent to on who I am. I immediately do that to be told it would be 2 business days. We are now on the 4th business day and I still have a block on my card. It’s funny how it’s on the day that a direct deposit was made. I have money sitting there and cannot use it. Still no answer as to why it was blocked and I cannot get a hold of a live person except thru chat. Even then I have no answers other than be patient. Well honestly that is hard when you live pay check to pay check as it is and you take the money! I want answers and my money back!!!

I've been up customer of a this prepaid card for a couple years now. I thought this was a good card. I've never really had any issues with it up until now. When I tried to pay a bill and it was declined and I knew it had money on it come to find out they put a block on my card with no alerts. No warnings. No text messages. No emails. No phone call and say that they have suspicions about whatever they have suspicions about. Now I'm going through every levels to just prove myself who I am. They block your card. They hold your money that's on the card. You can't get to it and they won't refund your own money and also you can't get another one. No one can't fix this problem.
I don't know why they don't tell you what was the fraudulent activity on your card. Then you have bill collectors waiting for you and it's been about almost 3 weeks. Still no one fix my card even though I sent them proof of who I am plus my Social Security card. Still no results. I'm so frustrated because this is the card I used to pay everything. I still can't understand how to use suspect fraud on someone's own money they're putting on the card to make purchases or pay their bills. Now I'm prepared to go to court or do whatever I have to do because I work too hard for my money for anyone to try to keep it. I don't care if it was $0.28. That $0.28 still belongs to me. I work for it. I put it on my card so I can use it. You have no right to block people cards and keep their money and don't offer any kind of resolution.
Updated on 03/31/2018: I'm still not getting any cooperation from this company whatsoever. The only thing they keep telling me that they will get back to me in 24 hours and 24 hours have not gotten back here yet as of over 3 weeks now because this week is already over. I don't understand why they keep tell me the revealing. I don't understand what they have all my documents. I just think they're giving me the run-around so they can keep my remaining balance that they block my card. Even that they don't give you back. They keep your money.

I started with Green Dot about 5 years ago, and never had an issue. Well this has change fast. I have been getting Social Security death benefits for my children since my first husband passed away in 2011 due to a rare cancer. This is my income and how I support my kids. I have been getting the same deposits for years. I got remarried in 2014. I changed my card name to match my license last year because I was having difficulty using the card because my name didn't match (understandable), I explained that to Green Dot. They informed me to get a new card in that name. That should fix the issue. I had no problem since I got the new card, my deposits went in every month like they were suppose to, well that was until last Friday. As soon as my deposit went in at 1 pm. They blocked my account, while I was in Virginia visiting my son while he graduated Army AIT who will be leaving for Korea in a week.
I hadn't used the card in VA because I was waiting on my deposit so I could. I call Green Dot as soon as it was blocked, put on hold forever and they said because the deposit was in my old last name it triggered an alert, sent me to corporate, the lady wanted for me to send a picture of my license, front and back and email it to her and she will alert risk management and try to get it taken care of. Very sweet lady, I know she was trying, she said hopefully they will fix it soon but it may be 24-48 business hrs. I told her this is the money I live off of from month to month. I also asked her if she needed to see both copies where I changed my SS card with both last names, she said, “No this will be fine.” Well Saturday still blocked. Sunday still blocked. Take into consideration they have my SS number and can look and see I have 2 accounts with both last names, with notes that I ordered a new card because I got married.
So this could be easily fixed, they now have a copy of my license, to prove I'm who I am. I had to leave VA and come back to GA early because I had no money. I get back home, still no money, can't pay rent, bills, or even pay for school lunch for the kids. I call Monday still get a few nice Managers trying to help, but can't send me to anyone further, they just alert risk management. I am very stressed by this time. I call all day. I am stressed as anyone would be. Rent was due Sat and I still haven't paid it because my money is blocked. Well the 48 hours ended today. I have called all day, still everyone I spoke to said, “Give them time”, “It will be fixed within the 48 hrs”, “You submitted everything right”. I even stressed that 48 hrs was at 2 pm today, they said, “Ma'am just give us until closing.” I then call 2 hrs before closing and Joseph answers, the rudest most unprofessional manager I have ever dealt with.
He tells me it could take up to 10 days. I told him I can't wait 10 days. I have kids that need food and shelter, he could care less, was rude then informed me he would send it back to the IRS, IRS? This isn't tax money. It's social security death benefits I get monthly to raise my kids. I don't get paid weekly, I get paid once a month for my kids. Well they have closed, they have my money still blocked. I am losing everything, when I have done nothing wrong. I proved who I was, all the notes are in the system, they have the matching social security numbers, both names, same address, same phone number, same ss number, I have been put on hold for over 5 hours put together. They have taken my money, and I do not understand why, this is a simple fix.
The company is unethical, doesn't care what they do to people. I understand protecting identity, but when I prove who I am numerous times there is no reason to put me and my family through this. I have 4 kids here at home, I don't have parents. They have both passed away my dad in 2001, my mom in 2010. I have nowhere to turn, we depend on this money for rent, bills and food.

I filed my taxes on January 23, 2018, after a month of not receiving my card I paid for a new one on February 23, 2018 thinking my card was lost in the mail. After 3 weeks of not receiving my new card I called and they gave me a date. It is now 3 weeks after that date and still no card. I called and they want me to pay for a new card. NO way! I've already paid for 2 cards, I think this bank is not sending out cards and lying to scam people out of their money to buy new cards. I have tax money sitting for over a month now that I can't touch because of this incompetent bank! I miss Netspend, why did TurboTax switch to this horrible bank!?

My card was hacked on February 13, 2018, for $300+. I had the card in my possession in the city where I live when someone withdrew the cash in a city fifty miles from my location. It took them 2 weeks to verify that the card was compromised and to return my money. Then the problem got worse. As soon as they returned the money to my card I went to withdraw the balance and that's when they locked down my card for suspicious activity. I was on the phone with a customer service representative while making the withdrawal so they knew it was me. At no time did he advise me that they were sending me a new card and not to withdraw the cash until my new card arrived.
It is now March 18th and I am still jumping through hoops to prove my identity. I have submitted the required Identification Verification documents 4 times, each time I was told it would only take 24-48 hours to resolve. Each submission was met with yet another excuse. Finally submitting 'readable' documents, I waited the required 24-48 hours for them to review the documents and finally release my funds, but when I called today, I was once again told it would be yet another 24 hours... Get this... Because they didn't get my emailed documents until 18 hours after I sent them. Don't buy this card. Credit card theft happens to everyone and this is the Worst Company to deal with in hopes of ever getting your funds back.

Green Dot has my card blocked and I’ve completed all steps. There was NEVER any fraudulent activities on my card. They put a block on my card and I’ve sent in my driver’s license front and back along with my phone number to verify my identity. It’s been past 48 hrs and the hold is still there. I want my card unlocked. Green Dot is not doing things right! If my card isn’t unblocked I will sue. I mean that.

Been using Green Dot for almost a year, having my first problem with them, Green Dot has blocked my account saying there was suspicious activity, when I told them I had every transaction in front of me pulled up on their website, and that there was nothing suspicious, it then went to they deserve the right. I explained to them that this is an emergency, as I am moving into a new house Monday and the money on my Green Dot account was for that, I was told to email my driver's license. After being given the wrong email by the rep, I called and got a recording that nothing had changed and no way to talk to a live person. Please help!!!
Updated on 03/18/2018: And still at it, been on the phone with Green Dot 3 times now today, just in the last 25 minutes... And once again, no possibility of speaking to a manager, no possibility of speaking to anybody with half a brain, absolutely no possibility of getting any answer at all!!! This is just plain ridiculous, all I am asking for here is my money, money I rightfully earned, money that Green Dot has no entitlement to... But apparently there are some severe issues with exactly who this money belongs to. So let me say this again, this is money that MY TIME, MY SWEAT AND MY BLOOD EARNED!!! And yet all I am getting is "I'm sorry ma'am, I can't help you" and "No ma'am, I can't transfer you to the manager for security reasons", and "I'm sorry", and "I understand" and the list goes on and on and on. I was pretty sure Green Dot prided themselves on the ability to be trusted, which is obviously false advertisement!!!
The lack of professionalism, work ethics and just plain common sense has evaded each and every customer service rep I have spoken with!!! Green Dot as a whole should be ashamed of themselves with the way business is conducted!! I have never in my life encountered such an unorganized and unknowledgeable customer service department. I have made every attempt to be more than patient, but to be repeatedly lied to, requests to speak with management completely and blatantly refused, still have no clue what is going on with my account, and have been transferred to a recording 3 times today alone... Transferred after the initial 15 minutes of automated BS!!! All 3 transfers came after being told I couldn't speak to a manager!!
Now I'm no rocket scientist, but from this post alone, I don't think I'm the only person having problems with Green Dot's obvious misunderstanding of what they are and are not entitled to!! It honestly amazes me that this company has been in business for as long as they have, when business is conducted in such a disgusting and unethical manner!!!

This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Eight days ago I lost everything I owned in a fire including my wallet with my Walmart money card by Green Dot. Since then I have spent hours each day trying to speak to a live person only to get the runaround on the automated system. On one call I was finally able to get a live person who after hearing my problem immediately transferred me to the automated system. Now I’m told that they’ve frozen that account and won’t release my funds until I provide them with a State picture ID. If this BS with them continues Pasadena is only one state away and I’ll drive to their headquarters to get this resolved. I have no clothes except what I had on when the fire started and no way to buy food or clothes or anything else even tho I have close to a thousand dollars on the card. Green Dot fix this or I will get to your headquarters and I promise you it won’t be pretty.

New Green Dot user here. It was a gem at first but returning items purchased and waiting for them to put the money back on my card was way too long. All I see is "pending" for over a week! I think they are waiting to charge that 7 dollars and change before I can get the rest out and close this card. Never again Green Dot, horrible service.

So after months and months of using my Green Dot card it gets locked??? My card was locked and no one can tell me why. The wait time for customer care was over 26 minutes. I spoke with Donna **, to which she told me there was no manager I could speak with as well. If this happens there should be something that they can tell customers as too why this happened to not have it happen again in the future.
You already know mostly marginalized people use your products or else they would have a regular bank account, I have my direct deposit and have no way to purchase food. This is so ridiculous. This is truly outrageous... Why would you wait so long to verify an identity. And right on the day when someone has a direct deposit? I emailed on all my verifications but there's no confirmation or anything. I'm going to have to contact my local Fox and ABC news stations. There always seems to be something they are doing wrong with people's money when you come to their consumer's affair page, I wish I would have read this before I switched from a real bank to here.

Received a refund of a deposit on my card. Sent in a original receipt. Green Dot blocks my card and takes my money. Called can’t get in touch with anyone. Poorly run company! Buyer Beware! Do yourself a favor stay away from these crooks!

I got this card to receive direct deposit from my job and when setting up the account I put in the wrong account number and my money went on someone else card. So they blocked the other person’s card but said I cannot get my money unless my job request it even though I offered to send my paycheck stub with all the information they need on it. So I was told that my money will stay in the other person’s account until my job request the money back, they are full of it and I will be getting legal assistance to handle this matter for me. I only wish that I had read the reviews first.

Green Dot sold a card to my minor son who had saved up his money for an online purchase. He went online to activate and use it and now cannot use the card for his online purchase. We tried to call but you cannot get a real person on the line and the chat line says 24 hours for someone to call you back. As a parent this is disturbing that a kid thinks they're buying a card that they can use online only to be told they now can't. He has no use for the card and he's lost his money or he has to wait 2 weeks to get it back. And they won't add me (his parent) as a second holder (over 18) to allow him to use it. This is a scam and rip off and I am appalled that this is allowed.

My Green Dot has been working perfectly fine for a few months, never having a problem until now. I sent my buddy a lot of money through the Green Dot app to his phone number. Although watching him accept it and plug in the verification code, the money was never sent to him... It’s been a week. On my transactions page it says it has sent and been delivered but the money still hasn’t been uploaded to his account. He has sent me full bank statements and I’ve looked on his phone for myself... There’s absolutely no money that transferred over.
Annoying enough I had to call about 4 times until someone could actually help me. They MADE me file a dispute for the cash and now, going to Miami in a few days, I’m going to have to wait 10+ business days until they let me know “if they need more time” or if it’s settled. I’m very annoyed by this because if I sent a lot of money to someone I expect to not have problems that limit me to my money. There are a million apps you can send money through and this will be the last time I ever use my Green Dot card again. Terribly disappointed in the customer service that I was received and I do not suggest sending money with this card... Ever!

I will say that once I was finally able to speak to someone from Green Dot Corporate, things were pretty easy to resolve. My client has received confirmation that she will be refunded her money that she deposited. I am very pleased with Green Dot Corporate, Ronnie was great and thorough but I do feel they need to change the fact that you cannot reach them if your account has been closed without any warning.

I have a client who recently went to Walmart and loaded $1000 onto her Green Dot card. She checked the card before leaving the store and it was in fact in her account. The following day she attempted to use the card and discovered the account had been closed. She has tried numerous times to call and each time when she is finally able to speak to someone, she is told that the account does not exist. This is a single mother of young children, not that it matters because wrong is wrong and this is very wrong. I am researching the company and intend on going as far as I have to in order to get her money back. This appears to be some kind of fraud.

Green Dot- As a loyal customer, I am disappointed. I spoke with 4 DIFFERENT REPS today and was treated disgustingly by them. WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE IF THEY WON'T SERVICE YOUR NEEDS?!?! I recorded all conversations and am ready to escalate this to the proper authorities because I know way too many cardholders that had the same fate as I have had and it is not fair to us. I called them to refund 2 transactions that I confirmed (have written and audio proof) were released by the merchant's bank but had not posted to my account. In the past I have called and been able to resolve these instances with so much ease, but to my surprise, I was met with so much resistance to give me MY MONEY this time. I was told that I had to wait nearly 3 weeks to get it back, and possibly longer because of some “hold” that they put on it that apparently is something new that they have put in effect.
I never received any documents stating a change in their policy and brought up the fact that I wanted to speak to a manager regarding this matter and was put on 2 separate 45 MINUTE HOLDS each time or transferred back to the prompt when you first call. Absolutely unacceptable. As someone who is fairly mild mannered but passionate about bringing justice or attention to the blatant wrongdoings of others every day at work, I will not sleep until this matter is solved and someone hears my story. I believe that is is highly illegal and will uncover the shady business practices of Green Dot if it’s the last thing I do in my life. I trusted you to keep my money safe and unfortunately, that is no longer the case. I will be escalating this and will update my story as this goes on to keep others informed about this as well so they do not fall into the same trap I have.

I went to a Chase Bank ATM to take out money however my cash was never dispensed. My receipt even shows it from Chase Bank. On my Green Dot acct. it shows like I took the money out, when cash was never dispensed. Days later I’m still without my money and it’s like they don’t care. I filed a dispute. Sent proof. Still no solution. This company is full of thieves.

I filed my taxes online with Turbo Intuit. I elected to have my refund deposited onto a Turbo card. I went to an ATM, and it ate my card, so I logged on to the Turbo card website and elected to transfer $1,800 to my PayPal account. Immediately it was removed from my balance but it has never been sent to my PayPal account. I have filed a dispute, but the Turbo card denied it saying the money was claimed. It absolutely was not. I read hundreds of complaints on the web where they have did this to numerous others. I'm going to the news station, I'm not going to lose $1,800.

Excessive monthly fee regardless of the card usage. Lost it and then found it. No usage for over six months but charged over $50 for a card with less than $200 on it. No email or contact from the company. Disappointing... Read the fine print. Not a good card to buy for your child, as advertised.

I've found out after waiting more than a month that Green Dot employees have lied to me, I'm still unable to access my tax refund because they haven't sent me a card even though they claimed to 5 times now. After writing a review on here I was contacted and compensated 30 dollars and told it would be shipped FedEx and promised it would be here Monday, of course I don't get a tracking number so I have no way to prove it was our wasn't sent and here it is at the end of the day and still no card. I can't believe this company is still doing business as I've seen so many complaints on this exact thing from this company. I'm going to post on Facebook, Twitter, and every other site I use warning people to not use green dot for income tax return option, all my friends have received a return weeks ago from paper checks but green dot claims to be so much faster. Lol I'm just so tired of being misled by this company.

I am a vip member with Green Dot for over a year now. I called them last week because I lost my card. I explained to them I had over $200 on my card which I removed and sent to my email until I can get another card. I received the card today at 10am. It’s now 730 pm. They said they locked my card for suspicious activity so I needed to send my id into their secure portal. I did that over 15 times. 2 different id card and I keep getting told that my card is not readable. I swear I’m frustrated. I have a direct deposit sitting in limbo because of this. I have 236.00 sitting in my email that I can’t put back on the card because of it and all I get is "Send in the info" or "We can’t help you." I don’t know what I did wrong but every picture of my id I send gets denied. I sat on hold for an hour today till my minutes ran out. I’m so disturbed by this.

I'm out of town working And lost my ID... THIS IS WHY I bought the Green Dot card to load my pay onto. Now that I have already deposited my checks onto the card, they lock it! I cannot get a live person to help me to save my life! I used my social to activate and my company, which takes out taxes for the IRS, loaded my money onto the card and now I can't touch it! I can't pay for my room as I'm working out of town, so, GUESS WHAT THIS MEANS? THEY JUST COST ME MY JOB! And now I have nowhere to stay because I'm 1000 miles from home and can't touch my money that I worked so hard for! Never ever again will I ever use Green Dot! You're supposed to make check cashing easier, not destroy my life!

I have been a customer with Green Dot for 5 years and someone stole thousands of dollars from my account. I have been calling every day because I need to pay my bills, my children have no food and all I keep hearing is it is under review. I never had a problem before until now and I didn't authorize any payment to come off my card. I can never speak with a supervisor or anyone in charge of fraud activity on my account... my money was taken so easily but I can't seem to recover my funds. I am going to be kicked out of my home. I have a 3 month old son who has medication. I have cancer. I can't pay for my medications as well and this is really ruining my life.
Green Dot needs better security measures I've seen a lot of this happen but I never thought it would happen to me. I'm starting to have second thought about this bank. I received a new card but that's it where are the supervisors in charge of such problems and why can't I get help I need? Other banks would have returned my money by now at least until they finish their investigation. I'm ready to sue Green Dot because I'm out of my money, my children's medicine, food, lights and I rely solely on my Green Dot card.
Updated on 03/16/2018: I wish I could give -5 stars to this company I filed a dispute 2 weeks ago on 03/02 and didn’t get an answer until 03/16 that said my dispute was denied for 2843.00 someone stole my wallet, took money from my account, bought hotel rooms and everything else and I can’t pay my bills or anything. I wrote a review last week and was told someone would look into it and contact me. I haven’t received any verbal communication from any yet. I contacted the merchant myself and was told nobody. We contacted them in regards to my disputes. I am sick. I have a newborn child. I haven’t been able to pay my rent or anything. I will be kicked out of my house on 03/23 because of this.
I don’t suggest anyone use any of them Green Dot products. These people will let anyone steal your money and you won’t get it back. This is the worst situation I have ever been in and I am going to notify the police as well as the public eye about this scamming company. They aren’t even secure. Anyone can just take your money. I am very dissatisfied with this place. I will keep filing disputes and sending the police to them until I get my money.
