    Green Dot is a great debit card. It just needs to be able to connect to Cash App and the monthly fee ain’t too bad. But I do think it needs to be lowered just a little. Other than that it’s a great card for people who don’t wanna deal with banks.

    I have had a very good experience with Green Dot. I can do everything with this card that I could do with a traditional bank account. If you do not qualify for a traditional bank account, Green Dot is a good alternative.

    The only thing I don’t like is that since your update, it no longer gives you the option of express deposit. It also doesn’t tell you until after the transaction when the funds will be available. One time it was 8 days for a 48 dollar check. It’s too late to change your mind once you process the check. That’s the only thing I would change. Thank you.

    The card works fine but you guys say that with direct deposit you get paid up to two days faster however that isn't the case. I still get paid on Friday or Thursday night which is still Friday in a sense... I wish you guys would fix that. That's about it cause like Brinks get paid on Wednesdays and you guys are kinda better than them.

    I have been a part of the Green Dot family for a long time now. The service I experience is pretty good. I love the app and online benefits. I even ordered a credit card from you to help my credit. Upon losing the card, I called in to get a new one so I could set up online payments. I never received a new one yet my balance continues to go up. That is the only problem I have incurred with the company. I would definitely tell others to use Green Dot. The only thing I would change is the year time length on receiving my cashback money. 6 months would do just fine.

    I wish it were easier to deposit money and checks. I had a 1700.00 check I tried depositing a few times and it wouldn’t allow me to so I had to go to another bank to cash it and then deposit it in increments of 500 which was also frustrating.

    You say that your card does direct deposits up to two days before getting paid. I get paid on Thursday and the last three times I was paid two of the three the pay went in on Thursday morning, The other time it went in at 4:30 on a Wednesday.     I have used my Green Dot Card with Cash App for a while now. I haven’t had any issues and have utilized all the “instant transfer” features, etc. with ease. That was until I had a $80.00 Cash App payment refunded back to my Green Dot Card. I initiated the refund myself and simply thought the funds would go right back to the card. I was wrong and it has been 5 days now since my funds were sent back to the card.

    Cash App has been very helpful during this entire process. They have provided tracking information that was to be for Green Dot and have even followed up with me to see if I’m still having issues. And for Green Dot? Not only have they not been absolutely absent in the “customer support” category, but they are very limited in the knowledge of what they are doing. They had zero clue what to do with Electronic Funds Transfer tracking information, only advice was to wait, and after the 1-3 days of waiting, they opened a dispute for the original debited transaction and told me I had to now wait another 10 days! This has been absolutely insane with how Green Dot handles something so simple as tracking down a EFT refund transaction. And because of Green Dot, I am thoroughly convinced, I now have to wait two week for my money that should have been available in a day or two at the latest! What a shame, Green Dot.

    I had did 12 month thing for Cash Back. I called to ask for reason I can't get my Cash Back. They told me to wait till end of month so I go about my business, make a purchase, come back, check my card. It sets me back to 0 out of 12 so I try to call again. It wouldn't let me talk to customer service about that card so I used my other card. Talk to someone. She give me reference number for tech support. I just want them to honor Cash Back reward for my account. After a year of being with them now I have to start over? Not cool... BBB here I come if this isn't fixed in a couple days.

    I've been had an issue with Green Dot Visa debit card for about 2 months. I bought this card from Rite Aid. I put $75.00 deposit on it. Every time I tried to activate this card after enter all information needed they always said: "to verify your information please enter your mobile number" then they will send you a code. As a matter of fact, you could be waiting for days and months you will never get it. In fact, even though I called Customer Services, I did not find nobody could help me or keep in touch with my situation. It seems like this company rob you in silence. In conclusion, I tried and retried several times to activate it, even more downloaded the app still not working. And said right now "You've exceeded the maximum number of attempts. Please enter the last code that was sent to me." I will never receive this code.

    DO NOT GET THIS CARD! I got the card at Walmart and I haven't had it for two months and for no reason, they blocked my card. I called them and they said they needed a copy of my ID front and back and once they receive the information, they might give me access to my money, 300.00 but to wait a week for them to check my information. I kind of feel they straight out stole my money and shame on Walmart for promoting this card. I noticed they've done this to other people too. I really hope something is done about this.

    Horrible company. Never buy any visa gift or debit card from them. Their customer service is horrendous. My 10 yr old son purchased what he thought was a gift card from a CVS store but turned out to be a debit card. In order to be used it required beside activation at the store, to be registered with Green Dot. For registration Green Dot requires personal identifying information be provided such as Social security number, age, name, address, Cell phone tel #. Information that I refuse to provide for a prepaid card. I attempted to returned the card to where it was purchased (CVS Store in Suffern, NY) but they would not refund. I called Green Dot support/customer service and after a very long hold time spoke a rep in India which I barely understood.

    I requested a refund. A refund option which they offered when calling customer service via their service automated number (866) 795-7597. The rep understood my request yet told me to hold then transferred me back to the initial queue to begin the wait process again. I waited again. 40 minutes on hold only to speak with another rep who answered the call with their usual greeting and then remained silent, I spoke but he never responded. I could hear background noise so I knew he was on the other end yet he remained silent and eventually hung up on me.

    Walmart MoneyCard Green Dot has blocked my account due to verification of my identity and they claim the IRS put the hold on my account. I have done everything that Green Dot has asked me to do and have talked to the IRS multiple times. The IRS did not put a hold on my account and has nothing to do with my funds being held by Green Dot. But Green Dot will not release my funds until the IRS sends them an email. The IRS does not send emails especially when they have no part in the problem. DON'T USE GREEN DOT!! I am out over $700.00 and have no idea if I will ever get my money back.

    My tax refund was Green Dot and they deposited in the wrong account, they have not given me dedication of the tracing it. When I called them they gave me an unclear answer and have representatives that don't speak English and don't explain their self. It's a perfect rip off because it's impossible to talk to the IRS, to get a tracking number required to find the deposit, I've been working on since 2.22.2018, it's 7.30.2018 for $895.00 imagine.

    If you want to speak to a foreigner with an American name that is rude and uncaring of your situation then contact them. I spoke with DJ about an unauthorized charge and I was needing to know what I needed to do on my end besides contacting the company and he immediately wanted to cancel my card and send me a new one, which is fine but when I told him before he does that let me go get the remaining funds off my card so that I don't have to go without funds for 7 days, he refused to let me get off the phone and call back once I finished, he just kept saying that he is responsible for the bank and could not let me off the phone without cancelling and would use the address on file if I refused to give it to him.

    I asked to speak with another rep and he said there was no one else. That is some BS... told him I would go get cash and call back to speak to another rep. In the 5 mins it took me to get to the ATM he had cancelled my card! So at this point of course I am pissed!!! I called back, spoke with someone else, was able to get my funds but it should not take all of this but good to know that the only people they are looking out for is them!!!

    I purchased a card for the first time at a Dollar General store. Loaded with 500 and paid the activation fee. A few days later I go to activate the card for a trip I was going on and it said I had an invalid card number. Finally got a human on the phone and they said they would issue a refund. Called again today and still no refund and somehow a different name is on my case number?!! How does that happen when I sent the email with proof of receipt, front and back of card, my name and address and the case number??? I need my money. This is a shame that things like this happen and it’s no hurry to get someone their money back!

    When I started reading all of the posts regarding Green Dot and their service, I felt a sigh of relief knowing I wasn't alone or making a big deal out of nothing. I wish I had read these before I purchased the card but hindsight is 20/20. I just started a new job and within a week of starting I had to fly out to Australia. I had canceled my bank debit card days before due to fraudulent activity. In an effort to plan ahead I stopped and purchased the Green Dot prepaid debit from Walgreens and put $500 on the account. Nowhere On the packaging did I see the likelihood that my card would remain temporary if Green Dot, at its discretion, doesn't approve me or verifies my ID which would limit its use. On the packaging it doesn't clearly state you can't use the card for foreign transactions and instead they state "Accepted anywhere Visa and MasterCard are accepted".

    After 24 hours of flying/traveling I stopped to make a purchase in the AU airport as I was starving. The card was declined with the error code stating "the card can only be used for in person transactions and not online". It was confusing since I was standing right there paying for my bill so I think that qualifies as "in person". I tried 4 different places and the same thing happened. Not once did it show an error stating the decline was Due to it being a foreign transaction.

    I had to call Green Dot several times as it feels like they intentionally confuse you on menu selections, sending you on a wild goose chase, and takes forever to get to a live representative. I was able to finally talk to Joyce, customer service rep. I can't tell you how upsetting it was talking to her and the first time we talked she started her script "the temporary card can only be used for in person transactions within the US". She then hung up on me. Not kidding. She did it twice since I got routed to her when I called back. She kept stating it was the policy and there was nothing anyone could do and that I should have thought about that before purchasing the card. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she stated "I am the supervisor". Keep in mind at this point we had talked several different times.

    I then asked to speak to her supervisor in the org chart. She told me there wasn't any and that even her boss regardless if he agreed, couldn't approve going against the agreement to allow me to use the funds. I asked her again to speak to someone, anyone, above her to state my case. She said she would schedule a callback. I did receive a voicemail this morning from Shane. He said his title was also supervisor and in the voicemail repeated word for word what Joyce said. I called back to speak to Shane but Joyce answered and when I asked to speak to Shane she wanted to know why and when I told her she said there isn't a point as he will tell me the same thing she had stated.

    I tried to tell her that I knew it wasn't her fault and I did go back through the credit agreement and see the verbiage about foreign transactions now. I was not arguing about the why it was that way but rather I explained the problem is you don't know if Green Dot is going to approve and verify identity to convert the temp card into a permanent card until you have already purchased the card and loaded money on it. Only when you open the package do you see the card agreement and the "fine print" but at that point I had already loaded it with $500 with no options to get an immediate refund or transfer to a card I could use internationally. There was no going back.

    If the packaging was concise and correct I would have seen the foreign transaction disclaimer and I guarantee you I would have bought a different kind of card. So now I'm stranded in Australia with no good form of payment other than some cash I kept in my pocket. Keep in mind due to me canceling my debit card it isn't like I have a backup payment type which is why I bought the prepaid card to begin with. I know this will seem overly dramatic, but I don't know how I'm going to even be able to buy food since I will be here 8 days and it just started. I can stretch the cash only so far. I'm truly terrified about what I will do if I run out of money. My parents can't afford to wire money to me so I'm literally being held hostage.

    I know Green Dot can make the argument that I should have researched the product in more detail online rather than just reviewing the verbiage on the package. At the end of the day, right or wrong, I'm the ignorant person who agreed to the terms but what was the alternative? Which comes first, the chicken or the egg? Meaning the process that is set up is to first pick out the card from the rack at the retailer. Take the card (in its unopened packaging) to the cashier and give them money to load. In the eyes of Green Dot and Walgreens, the transaction is done and be on your way. Keep in mind at this point you still haven't been able to open the packaging to review the fine print. By the time you're allowed to open the package and read the agreement, you have already loaded money.

    Secondly, there was no reason to believe I wouldn't be able to register the card fully due to not being able to verify identity. I had no reason to believe I wouldn't be able to use it just like a bank card. So not only can I not use the card for its main intended use it also limited me to be able to make purchases only in person. Again, had this been clearly communicated prior to buying the card, it would be a moot point as I would have purchased a different type of card. On top of the stress and anxiety this has caused, to then be talked to in the manner Joyce did such as her rude statements, hanging up on me, and not allowing me to speak to someone else was like pouring salt in the wound.

    Now I'm isolated in another country, about as far as you can get from home, with limited funds and options. I have no idea how I will ensure I have food the entire week, how I can pay Uber to get me back and forth from the hotel to the office (reminder - this is my first week and need to make a good impression), etc. Joyce was right about one thing, it's not her fault I didn't read what I was agreeing to. That's a true statement. I would argue logistically it's next to impossible for me to agree to a contract I can't see until after I made the purchase but it's still on me as I'm the one that signed it trusting Green Dot was a trustworthy company.

    At this point I did the only option given to me and that was to request a refund but even then it will be done through a paper check and could take up to 2 weeks to process so it doesn't help my current situation. I can honestly say I've never felt this hopeless, this stressed, and this lonely in my professional life over the last 20 years. I'm in the beautiful country of Australia, a country I've never visited before, sitting in my hotel room as I don't have the $ to explore this city and take in the sights and attractions.

    I have never posted or sent reviews, good or bad, over the course of my career as I believe more in a face to face or even via phone call to explain the issue and give that person the opportunity to correct. I state this so that you realize I'm not the type of person that recklessly posts reviews or goes off on an emotional roller coaster but I felt like I had to post this so that no one else has to go through this and deal with Green Dot. All I can do is hope they will see this post before buying a Green Dot card and instead find another more reputable card company that is transparent, takes their fiduciary responsibilities seriously, and trains their employees on the definition of integrity, ethics, business empathy, and improved communication skills.

    This post won't help me in any way in the short term but if by me taking the time to do this, it saves someone else from the same nightmare, then it was time well spent. If you happen to see a short red head on the sidewalk with a cup in one hand and a squeegee in the other, any cash you can donate to my cup is appreciated. Not that this is a joking matter, but if I don't laugh I will cry. Thank you for allowing me this forum to vent and I appreciate everyone who takes the time to read it. God bless.

    I have had my Green Dot card for 3 days. I have not been able to use my card. I only got this card to rent a car. I traveled 4 hrs to pick up my rental only for the card to be declined. Was told by a rep and supervisor that Visa declined it and there was nothing they could do. I have since tried to use my card several times and it keeps declining. I have called customer service and they are telling me there is nothing they can do. So basically Green Dot is stealing my money. This is against the law. I am trying to find an attorney because I am going to sue the ** out of this fraudulent company.

    Received an email saying my account username had been changed. I have never signed up for Green Dot nor heard of it until today. When I called the number given in the email for this issue all I got was a recording with two options to either give my full SSN or a card #. I don't feel comfortable with giving my full SSN and I don't have a card. There are NO options to speak to a real person. This is a terrible position to be in to think someone has my sensitive information and/or using my info to get money and I can't even talk to someone to get help.

    So I have had this prepaid card for over 3 years. First time I got direct deposit I received it on the actual pay day which is Monday for me but about 2 weeks ago I got it again on Monday which was weird since I always received it Friday since the advertising says get paid 2 days earlier using direct deposit. I called my company maybe thinking it was on their end and I was told no the direct deposit was sent Thursday so I could receive it Friday. Now 2 weeks later same thing didn’t get it on Friday. Called a representative and was told new changes on policy were that my company had to call to verify they sent my direct deposit early? I was like WTH. That has never happened so I call my company.

    Of course they have no idea why they would have to if that is why they send it Thursday so I can receive earlier than Monday. Well I call back to a rep and this time tells me it is technical errors and I will receive it Monday again. I’m pissed now because all of these excuse. I’m done. I’m waiting Monday to get my money and I will be closing this card. I have 5 other coworkers also with this card and also having the same issues. We will all be closing this card. The sole purpose to get this card is to get paid earlier so I can have money to take my kids out on the weekend since I work weekdays. But with this I might as well open a regular checking account and get it Monday with them and have more perks with a regular bank.

    I have been trying to resolve fraud/ID verification with Green Dot since 07/21/2018. I have done EVERY thing I was told to do - now, here I am with an ID block on my account still. NEVER MIND the fact that the retailer where my card information was fraudulently used has been trying to refund the money taken from my account at the advice of the person who spoke to me at Green Dot the day I reported the fraud, my payroll is in jeopardy of being rejected. All I can get out of anyone who is on the phone is "I'm sorry ma'am, I cannot do anything". They are saying "processing" has to first clear me - well - then I was told they have NO WAY to contact processing. UNHEARD of that a company cannot communicate within departments to assist a customer!!! I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this company!!!

    I have used Green Dot for almost a year, never had any issues. When I went grocery shopping today, my card was declined and when I tried to log in on the mobile app it said “account is blocked pending review." I called Green Dot and they told me they couldn’t verify 2 transactions both of which were purchases and then returns. They told me I would have to email copies of the receipts for the transactions and it would take up to 10 business days to allow me to use my account. This is my money and I can’t access it and have no funds at all until they decide to resolve it. The customer service rep told me it was a different department that handled review and there was no way to call them or contact them so I would have to just “wait”. Wait for what??? Access to my own money?

    No warning, email, text, phone call just the humiliation of being denied at the store when I tried to purchase something. This is source of income, I pay bills from this account (which were all rejected today) and my direct deposit goes in there. I do not understand how this is legal in any way. I cannot access my own money for god knows how long. I DID NOTHING WRONG EXCEPT RETURN SOMETHING I PURCHASED. After reading some of the reviews here I am worried more than ever since rent is coming due. And I have no money. I can’t believe this company is allowed to do this

    7/25/2018 at 11:28am I purchased A Green Dot MoneyPak from Walgreens for $150 plus $5.95 fee. So tonight 7/26/2018 I decided to set it up it doesn't work and there is no help anywhere. I won't even make an account for me to sign into. I've tried on two different phone and my home computer. The customer service number that I did find after hours of looking online is either busy or the call drops. So I started researching and I'm not the first to have lost their money to this company, I cant afford this loss. I have four children and bills to pay. Someone need to do something. Get this Scam of a company out of our stores. That was money to help buy my children school supplies and now I have no answers.

    The reason for the review is because we have been given vague and elusive behind account block. On 7/24/2018 we reverified our identities and we were reassured that once the transmittal from SSA was received funds would be available immediately. We received no notification or account alert of any "unusual activity" unless they count the numerous logins the past 72 hours. Who does not check their account constantly when bills are due. We received creditor extensions due to a security breach at our previous bank. This account ending card ending in ** had always been a mere back up account.

    The entire time the account was in the negative we had all access. The disability deposit from SSA post will I was in my account at 4:33am 7/25/2018. Our account was blocked at 4:35pm for "unusual activity". I reported no unusual activity. On 7/24/2018 we reverified our identifying information and assured access to funds pending direct deposit. No explanations, between two customer service representatives and three supervisors. I was ignored when I asked to speak to someone who could make decisions or verify before the weekend.

    I cannot believe they would not provide me as much as an email to forward to my creditors to provide proof of why we could not honor payment arrangements due for today. This is very odd and disrespectful. We are being treated as if we have been dishonest. We have provided everything except DNA and dental records proving who we are and we have a right to our funds. Something very dishonest and criminally fraudulent is going on at Green Dot. I intend to bust it wide open!!!!

    I purchase the card that I can reload with Green Dot service. After having the card for a month I was unable to reload the card at several locations. So I purchased a MoneyPak and upon my purchase I was unable to reload my card with the Moneypak. I've tried calling several times. I've even sent emails to their fraud department. It would be nice that Green Had a number that you can talk to a live person and actually get an answer. Green Dot is not customer friendly at all!

    Couldn't activate by phone, website constantly experiencing technical difficulties. Someone bought me this card in error, thinking it was a gift card. I literally could not get the card activated after trying for 2 days. I worked through VISA customer service to get them to connect me to Green Dot and demanded a credit. Now I'll wait to see if I receive the check in 2 weeks. Fortunately it was only $20. If you read the requirements for depositing money on the card and fees that they charge... it is a borderline SCAM. This is a tool to RIP OFF young and low income individuals who don't have or qualify for a checking account. PLEASE TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO NEVER BUY A GREEN DOT DEBIT CARD.

    My girlfriend put a direct deposit in my prepaid account. I have another account with same company and she has been getting her direct deposit in that account for over two years. I go to use my card on 7/16/18 and found out my card was blocked. I called and they told me I needed to verify my identity. I did and when I called back to make sure they got the email I found out they blocked me from calling the customer service line. I was able to get through on my other account where I was informed that I also need send a copy of her ID to verify her identity. I did as asked and called the same way I did previously and was now told that I need to email the deposit slip In her name to them. I did as asked and found out I was then blocked from calling with my other account.

    I started to Facebook message them and was told that they got none of the documents and to email them to another email. After two days of Facebook messaging them I got corporate's resolutions phone number. He then informed me that they hadn’t received anything and Haverhill a third email. He explained why I was under investigation and told me it would be two days for a decision. The next day I call back and the Sam man informs me that he has got my ID but not my girlfriend's and now could take up to five days. I then Email the item. Multiple times.

    Then on 7/20 I speak with a different gentleman through the corporate line who tells me they have all the documents and to wait until Tuesday to call. I do and call on 7/24. Told my case is closed, but no one put a decision in the computer and that if they close it then my 1,100 will be sent to the “government”. Also my direct deposit from my employer was rejected and that they will also be sending it to the “government.”

    I purchased a $500 MoneyPak on July 3, 2018 at 14:54:31 at Dollar General Store #06695, 2601 West 5th St, Lumberton North Carolina. I am 73 years old and no longer drive. Two friends drove me to the store to purchase a MoneyPak. After the purchase, we went next door to Wal-Mart to purchase a few items. I tried to remove the silver strip on back of the MoneyPak, but was adhered and could not be removed. We went back to Dollar General, and the clerk would neither provide a replacement MoneyPak or refund my $500. The clerk did call Green Dot, and I was given a email to contact Green Dot RR@greendot.com. I was told I would receive a response within one business day. I filed a complaint with Green Dot on July 6th, but no response. Followed up on July 11th. Requesting status. Still no response.

    Called again. Spoke with customer service. I was told to resubmit with Reference #17010563 which I did with all requested documentation. Still no response. Called again and spoke to account specialist, and was assured a manager would call to confirm when I would receive a refund check. The call would be on July 23rd. Waited all day. Still no response. In the meantime I had to sale furniture to buy food and pay utilities. I am a disabled veteran, and I very disappointed with the treatment I have received. I have all documentation including the damaged card. I am hopeful this matter can be resolved soon so I will not have to sale more personal belongings for food and utilities.

    I recently purchased a reloadable Visa debit card. I loaded 100 dollars and couldn't use my card. I took 30 minutes to register my card and it didn't allow me to use it. When I called the customer service number to advise them that I couldn't use my card they locked my account and told me it was under investigation. It's been over a week and I have yet heard from anyone that they mentioned would give me a call. I was scammed out of my money and I really trying to get it back!!!

    I added my last funds to a new card that I purchased from Walgreens. When I attempt to register the card online it told me to wait 15 minutes due to purchase it inside of store. I refreshed it a couple of times and now it's telling me that I have to wait 24 hours due to too many attempts. I cannot get ahold of a live person whatsoever on the customer service line. This is so ridiculous. I put my last funds on this card. I need answers now to get this car registered to use. I sent them a message on the Facebook messenger app.

    I purchased a MoneyPak card of 106 dollars from Walgreens on 7/17/18. Load my card immediately after purchased and my husband used the card to pump 40 gas on the same day. On 7/18/18, my husband and I tried to use the card again and was able to use it. We called the number on the card and was told my card was block because someone stated they own the MoneyPak I used when I had all of the items available to prove I purchased it. I even asked for a fax number to fax my information to them and we ignored. I was told to call back in 7 to 10 days for the information on the dispute but I called back on 7/22/18, 4 days later to see if I could talk to someone else but got a message stating my account was closed and I could no longer use that bank again.     This is so crazy! They set the website up where it won’t accept nothing at all. I did everything they ask me to do. Plus, it’s not like you can call and talk to someone. A couple of lawyers are building a very strong case! Green Dot has a hold on hundreds of people money! IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT OR A PROBLEM GO TO CONSUMERFINANCE.GOV. I'm in the process of suing them and I filed a complaint with consumerfinance.gov.

    I'm not understanding how I haven’t used this card in months and I finally upload 41 to my card only withdrew 20 and now all the rest of my money is gone. I don't care about a damn monthly charge. It supposed To be 7 and some change not the rest of my ** money on my card. Y'all can send me my ** back and cancel this card. I only sent it to the damn card to get the money off my PayPal to get my son some diapers. NOW I CAN'T CAUSE Y'ALL TOOK ALL THE REST OF MY ** money for it.     I purchased 2 MoneyPak cards Tuesday with $500 each, so I can pay my car and my car insurance. It is now Thursday night and I am still unable to load the MoneyPak to my card because I am unable to verify the account on moneypak.com. I keep calling the company and all they can tell me is to keep trying and to try from different browsers... I've done this several times. Even asked my family members to try, nothing. I am so so disappointed. I'm reading other customers having the same problem, and Green Dot can only say MoneyPak is a separate website. IT SAYS "POWERED BY GREEN DOT" on the MoneyPak card I bought in CVS. Come on guys... Someone help out!

    I have been using Green Dot for years and never had any issues. On June 20 2018 I got an email of suspicious activity and my card was blocked. I was told I needed to send a copy of my ID to have it lifted. I sent my ID several times and was told it was not clear. I logged on later that day and was told the card was closed and could not be reopened. I waited several days to see if a check would be mailed out. It never was. After 2 weeks sent an email and was told someone would call me back in 2 business days. They never did so I sent another email and finally I got a call.

    The supervisor that called me said there was nothing he could do and he was going to have someone from corporate call me. I got a call on July 9. I was on the phone for 45 mins. I sent multiple copies of my ID and each time I was told it was eligible. Finally he sent in a good picture and I was told it would be reopened. Fast forward to July 16th I sent another email and was told a supervisor would call me and that I needed to resend the ID. I finally got a call today from a supervisor telling me my money that was on the card would be sent to the government. I would think a check would be mailed to the address where the card was sent. This is the worst company in the world. I had my whole check put on this card via direct deposit and they are keeping it from me and giving me the runaround.

    Every time I call I get horrible customer service from reps and "supervisors" who are clearly just scripted on what to say instead of actually addressing the issues or considering solutions. I just got off the phone with a supervisor because my card was placed on hold without any form of notice by email, text or phone call (they have all of this info). To me this is bad business practice because it is MY money and if they think there is an issue it's fine to place an account or transaction on hold but CALL THE CUSTOMER! It took almost 45 mins just to get a hold of someone because the automated machine doesnt let you skip ahead and makes you listen to everything before finally stating the button to push but then I was on hold for an extremely long time.

    What if I was in a situation where I needed to make that transaction then and there for an emergency but couldnt because I'm dealing with all of this. Then finally I get a hold of someone. They clear everything but then I would have to wait an hour to run the transaction again? Thats basically looking at the people keeping this company open and shrugging your shoulders to issues they are having. ALSO how in the heck does a company with 96% negative reviews still have an A rating on here? Every site like BBB and social media Green Dot is on I will be posting this complaint and reviews, maybe it will people be treated right that decide to use them or are thinking of using them.

    I've been getting my check direct deposited to my Green Dot card for a month and a half and my normal check day is on a Friday so Green Dot would normally deposit it a day early. I loved that that's why I switched to them but these last two times I have gotten it a day early it comes on my day. I called and all they can say is "When we see it we will deposit it." They're not trying to look your account up or anything so Ima end up switching back to my regular account since I gotta wait anyways. Plus they charging fees and don't do what they're advertising. My cousin have NetSpend and work for the same place I do and she got her money early. Smh. It's just Green Dot.

    My federal tax return was put on a Green Dot card. I never received the card. I have tried going to IRS and also to TurboTax, whom I filed it through. They all tell me I have to contact Green Dot. There lies the problem. There seem to be no way of actually speaking to a human to get any assistance. The automated response which answers the customer service ask for my ss#, zip code, and birthday, then proceeds to tell me they have no account for that information. I am a single mom who filed my taxes, it was put in green dot account and now I cannot access because Green Dot has no real customer service. Beware of Green Dot card company. They appear to be stealing tax refunds.

    So I recently signed up and received a Green Dot Prepaid Card. I followed all the steps and met all the eligibility requirements. For some reason I'm not allowed to access mobile check deposit. I have spoken to a numerous amount of customer service reps. I have not been assisted at all and they basically are telling me to figure it out myself.     My boyfriend had his first paycheck deposited on my Green Dot card. When his next payday came he called starting 2 days prior and no deposit. On the actual Friday payday still no deposit! Upon speaking with a representative we were informed that Green Dot had lock the card due to suspicious activity. But was never told what the suspicious activity was. After providing further information we were told that my boyfriend needed to be added as an authorized user since the card was in my name. A copy of front and back of both of our ID's and a copy of his Payroll direct deposit statement were emailed to the document verification dept at 7 am the actual morning of payday and w/in 15 minutes of speaking with a representative. We were also told it would take up to 5 business days for the documents to be reviewed and decision to be made.

    Meanwhile my boyfriend had no access to his paycheck for a 2 week period, bills are due, our children need to eat, and our rent needed to be paid. The representative just repeated it would take up to 5 business days and had no other solutions or information for us. We asked that a supervisor call us as my boyfriend really needed his paycheck and waiting the weekend and then the 5 days would start on that Monday is unacceptable. We were told a supervisor would call us back w/in 3 days. A supervisor contacted us early in the evening that Friday and asked us to email him the same documents to another email address (apparently it was the supervisors email and he said upon receiving documents he would review documents and would be able to take care of the situation).

    Documents were emailed immediately to the email address, supervisor called back stating he didn't receive them however they were sitting in my sent email box. Never heard back from that supervisor, were just left hanging with no money, no idea what was going on etc... We called several times over the weekend and still no help was given, and they even made it so when we called to check the card we got a special message that the account was still under review and are unable to speak to a live person. We have contacted the direct deposit hotline and get no answers or help from them and it is now Wednesday 6 days since my boyfriend got paid and still no direct deposit on our card and still have not heard anything from Green Dot. Today we were told that corporate is now looking into it. Still no money. Having to borrow money for gas just to get to work, and then nobody to let us know what is going on.

    I have sent several emails asking for some type of response. Today when we call and enter our card number we get an automated response basically saying, "Account is still under review. Please call back." Not happy with this company. They have spoken with me and my boyfriend, they have our documents they requested. If you think about several different situations of someone having their paycheck deposited onto a card and how is it suspicious especially after you have seen both ID's and paycheck stub statement and have spoke to both of us. All you need to do is push a button to unlock my card.

    Why would someone have their paycheck direct deposited onto a card they didn't have authorization to use because then they wouldn't be able to get their money. (I gave my boyfriend my card and the direct deposit info). Why would someone have their paycheck direct deposited onto a card they just found laying around and they didn't know who it belonged to because again they wouldn't have the information of the owner to be able to get their money or maybe... I am going to have my boyfriend's employer direct deposit his check w/out his knowledge onto my Green Dot card. Ya right!!! Anyway you try to look at it, it doesn't make any sense as to how this could be some suspicious activity or fraud. If you ask me Green Dot is being suspicious by not giving my boyfriend his earnings from his job and not providing any response as to why it is taking so long. I will be contacting the BBB.

    I purchase a Green Dot cash back card. I finally was able to register the card. They end registering the card. They screw up the last name. I call to get last name switch by then I receive a new car correct last name but 0 balance. I call to get the money from card. They screw up transfers to the new card and the nightmares started. Finally I was supposed to get back my money in a refund. Now it's been a month they have not send the refund. I call they told me that I can't be help. I'm not the correct card holder but they have the same information on both card. Now what to do.

    I used my Green Dot card for months without issue as long as it was loaded with cash at a store. However, when a MoneyPak was purchased, it claimed my activity was suspicious and blocked the card. I called Green Dot customer service, and they were absolutely awful and not helpful at all. I looked everywhere for help on MoneyPak and NOTHING. I had to request a refund, but have heard nothing since after requesting. This company’s customer service is the worst I’ve ever dealt with.

    Bought the card, loaded and activated it. I was told it would be work for online purchases, which is why I got it. But, to my surprise IT HAS NOT. I've tried multiple times, on different sites, as well as called customer service three times, only to get someone I can barely understand and who doesn't know how to help me. They say it's the merchants fault, but there's no way it's EVERY SINGLE merchants fault. I was advised to make sure my addresses matched, they did, still didn't work. Was advised to use my bank and routing number instead, I did, STILL DID NOT WORK. Meanwhile I'm charged a fee for using a card, that I'm UNABLE TO USE. Once I get my money off of this card, I will never use it again. Very dissatisfied with this purchase.

    A Wells Fargo cashier's check for $1,500 was stolen out of my mailbox in Rome, GA. A Rome resident negotiated the check over my forged signature and was able to successfully deposit it into his Green Dot Account. I have a copy of the front and reverse sides of the check given to me by Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo fraud investigators informed me that the check was deposited into a Green Dot account. Green Dot says they will not allow deposits of third party checks, but they apparently did in this case. I cannot get any live person on the phone. This check was earmarked for college tuition.

    I received birthday money last month and since Green Dot is the most convenient (or was) way to receive money I had my friends and family send it through the MoneyPak service. When trying to load the MoneyPak on to the card I was given an error message telling me due to suppress activity they could not use the MoneyPak I was trying to use. I clicked on the refund tab and entered my information. So I expected to receive them in the mail in the usual 5-10 business days. I get the first one in for $25 no problem. Waited for my others to arrive, and yesterday I received a letter in the mail stating: due to suspicious activity I would have to send a picture of my driver's license as well as photocopies of the merchandise purchased front and back. That because my activity is unlike anyone else's activity they question my actions and don't want to release my money.

    You cannot get through the automated system to speak to someone without a Green Dot account (I use Walmart card or a RushCard or pretty well anything besides Green Dot cards because I've and have seen so many people run into their scams). I've never had issues with my money though. I would never recommend this company to anyone and suggest people to swap over to PayPal or Vanilla Reloads. RushCard has an option that you can RushCard to RushCard your money and if I am not mistaken so does Walmart. Now I have to convince my family and friends to try to find these cards take a picture of them and send them to me... and pray they haven't thrown some of them away... This is hundreds of dollars these people may be able to keep of my money because they feel they can. They are held to no accountability for anything they do. Just a bunch of crooks.

    I have had my Green Dot card for about four years now, although I hardly use it. I went to Walgreens and put $45.00 on the card which totaled $49.95 yesterday. I tried to use the card online today and was told there was not enough money on the card for my purchase. I called to check my balance and there is only $29.95 on the card. I will never ever use this company again. Nobody answers the "customer service" phone number. I will also do a negative review with Walgreens because they are partners with this fraudulent company.

    Green Dot Corporation along with Turbo Tax has stolen my money. It’s been almost a month and I still haven’t received my money. They keep on lying saying that it is the IRS did it, but the 5x I have contacted the IRS they say they don’t have anything to do with it. Then they asked me to verify my identity, I did it still haven’t released the block on my card. Today I give up, I am so tired of trying to prove who I am to receive my money. My daughter came to me for help in activation when I was astonished that after the first time they would keep half and after 30 days keep 5 dollars a month. Why is this company still in business?     I purchased the card because I knew the banks would be closed for the fourth of July holiday and I needed a card to pay off some bills. I purchased the card from Dollar General and went home to active. When I returned home and began to activate it I received an error message, "We are experiencing technical difficulties. Try again later." I waited a couple of hours and tried again. This time I received another error message, "You have exceeded the number of attempts. Wait 24 hours." I went ahead and downloaded the app and tried again the next day. Same message. "We're experiencing technical difficulties. Try again later," and another message telling me to wait 24 hours. Tried again the next day on a desktop. Same error messages. I tried to call. It is impossible to get a human on the phone. The only option I didn't try was the Spanish option.

    I finally chose the option for a refund. It said I would have to wait 2 weeks and asked if I wanted to proceed. I hung up then googled how to talk to a live person. There was another phone number but it took me back to the same prompts. I ended up searching Google and the Green Dot website to find another way to contact them. I would've been fine with an email option. There was nothing except a snail mail option or the phone number. I noticed they were on social media. I went on Facebook and found their customer service page. I sent them a message telling them what the problem was. Heard back a few hours later they told me to try and clear history, cookies etc and use a different browser if I could. I downloaded a whole new browser and it let me go so far as to verify my phone number then I received the same message, "We're experiencing technical difficulties."

    I told them same problem. They messaged me later and asked for my contact info (mailing address, number, email). Next day they asked for pictures of my receipt and front and back of my card and to make sure my name and number were on each picture and that they would research and get back to me in one business day. I sent the info they sent another message that night asking for the same info saying the same thing they would research. I resent and told them I sent the email again. They responded the next day and said, "We are sending you a refund check. It will arrive in 2 weeks." I was losing my patience and let them know I was almost out of money as I had put most of it on this card and ended up using the rest to pay bills after the holiday. And if I knew this was all they were going to do I would've requested a refund days ago when I had been given the option.

    Furthermore if I had any idea this would happen I would've stuck to the visa gift card I nearly purchased. They responded back saying - "Hi **. We understand the urgency of this matter. Once the Refund check is processed, you can no longer register the card. Please wait for your Refund check to arrive. You'll receive it in 2 weeks." - JMG. How does that help? Seems like they were more concerned with me trying to use the card again which never worked in the first place! I am beyond dissatisfied. I can't use my own money and have to wait 2 weeks for a check.

    I hope I can help people with this review. Stay far away from this business. Go with a visa gift card or American express prepaid (I've had success with both). Also, they are cheaper than Visa GCs (American express is free but not everyone takes them due to them only having 15 numbers) but beware they will charge you 7.95 the first time you use it, which they conveniently leave off the packaging, unless you deposit $1000.00. If you have $1000.00 chances are you have an actual bank account. If you do use them good luck!

    This has been a complete nightmare. Green Dot is the worst prepaid card there is. My card was blocked and I’m going through hell to get it unblocked. I never told them the card was lost or stolen so why block a card that I’ve always been in possession of??? Stupid. I have verified my identity, received the replacement card and still can’t access my funds. Complete **. My bills are due. I have children to feed and about to be evicted. I will never use this card for anything again.

    Customer service is a joke. When you're blocked you can’t speak to anyone so you have to think of ways. They should be shut down for playing with the lives of people who have done nothing wrong but trust them with their hard earned money.     I signed up for Green Dot and had my direct deposit sent to them for the first time today. They blocked my account saying they couldn’t verify me and have a block on my money. This is not fair and they shouldn’t play with people hard earned money. If they couldn’t verify me then they should of never let me activate the card. On top of that they should have rejected my direct deposit but they didn’t. They kept it and holding on to my money. I will seek legal action because this is ridiculous!!!

    I am the latest victim of $504.16 Green Dot Prepaid Card scam. I have tried to call Green Dot many times, cannot talk to any live person until you already have an account with them. I went online to file a complain, after I submitted my complain the message came up saying "Not Accepted" please try later. What a joke. This company should have a hotline available to report these scams. By not doing so they are helping these scammers. Every scammer is helping Green Dot sell more of their cards.

    Didn't receive my direct deposit today. Was told they are having errors on their end. They blocked me from calling now. My sister is Vice President of SchoolsFirst Credit Union and said it's absolutely illegal and fraudulent and that they have 24 hrs to correct from time it was suppose to be deposited. Then she will walk me through the legal actions to bust them for fraud. She also read all the poor reviews and similar recent complaints on here (Consumer Reports) and is going to take action against this bank with the Federal Bureau.

    She also advises all of you to close your accounts immediately and I will be posting a number. She is getting me to take legal action against this fraudulent company. She also advised not to send them a copy of your driver's license as requested that it's just a detour for them to get you off their backs and that you will not receive a check from them that it is a lie. Please look for my post tomorrow for contact number to federal fraud division.

    TERRIBLE! It was super nice of a friend to give me a gift card for Christmas 2017, however, unless you use the whole "gift card" (it was sold as one but isn't - it's a pre-paid debit card and they REALLY try to push you into doing the direct deposit!) WHY??? There are monthly fees, anyone with a bank account would not need or want this terrible product! Go to the bank and get a bank account, it would be cheaper - so they prey on people who don't know that they can. Anyway, to avoid the monthly fee because I DID NOT want to direct deposit to their card, I had to use it right away. I used all of it but a little bit, and let it go, it was a gift, and I avoided all but one fee, so that was it, I closed it.

    Surprisingly, they sent me what was left -- 20 CENTS, I was surprised, and thought maybe they were better than I suspected. I forgot to go to bank to deposit until last week, about 6 months later, I didn't think anything of it, because I've never had a reputable company or person refuse money they actually owed me even if it was deposited late, even like a year! Green Dot refused it! I guess businesses can refuse to pay what they owe, but I doubt a regular person could get away with saying, oh, too late, you didn't cash my check so I don't have to pay you anymore!

    Anyway, had I known, I would have thrown it away, not worth it, but because I thought it would be just fine, I was charged $12 by my bank, so Green Dot got find a way to over-fee me too! BEWARE of both getting a Green Dot "gift card" and any check they send you for the unused balance... if in doubt, the time and headache you'll get from it, will make you wish you never heard of these people... Some gift! I certainly won't tell my friends, but I hope I never ever see one of these EVER again!!!

    I've had Green Dot bank for two months because I'm required direct deposit at my new job. I was receiving my checks until I had a deposit over $900. My job said they deposited the money, I cannot reach anyone at Green Dot customer service to resolve this issue. I was told by the company I work for that there are MANY PEOPLE saying THEY DID NOT GET THEIR CHECK AND THEY BANK WITH GREEN DOT. Obviously this is illegal, I intend to sue for financial damages if my funds do not appear within the next few days. How is it possible for a company to be so irresponsible? It's not a glitch for just my check, ITS EVERYONE THAT HAS GREEN DOT THAT WORKS WHERE I DO.

    I bought a 100.00 Green Dot debit card to give as a gift. When it was tried to be registered it was invalid 3 Times. Now not only do I feel like a fool I’m out 100.00 dollars and there is no way to talk to a live person to straighten this out.     So I have been using the Turbo Tax prepaid card since February with no real issues. I have been receiving my direct deposit every since, until yesterday. Me and my coworker both use this card and we did not get paid. My job has released the funds. Everyone who uses Netspend has already been paid. For some reason Green Dot cannot tell me why they are not releasing my damn money. I'm reading all of the reviews saying it's taking days, leading into months for resolution. GREEN DOT... listen to me careful. I am not one of the fly by ** customers. I will sue the entire ** out of you for my 1200 dollars. I have a family to feed. I am the mother bear you do not want to ** with. When it comes to feeding my kids. Please believe that you have the one today. People rely on their money to live.     On June 27th, 2018 I Visited A Atm At A Sheetz Which is Pnc, My Transaction was for 400.00 and the money never came out. I called Green Dot to file a disputed and they advised me that the money would be in my bank by July 5th, Than thru said July 12th! I called today. They tell me they had to extend my dispute out for another 45 Days!!! This bank is horrible and they don’t reply by email or phone calls like they say they will when you originally file your dispute! I’ve called Green Dot every day since June 27th and they aren’t trying to get my money back into my account. They even argue with you over the phone.

    Updated on 09/07/2018: I stopped using GoBank in July but my account is still open. I was supposed to receive a new card in the middle of July. I wasn’t really worried because my direct deposit started going to my other account. But last month Allstate deposited a check into this rip off account. Last week I was told that they were sending me out a debit card and I called yesterday. One rep said, “Oh it had to be done manually" so they sent it out on the 29th, her supervisor then told me that it was never sent out so he would send me one WTF. Please don’t do business with GoBank and not to forget they screwed my account up and caused my July electric bill payment to be returned and my account was overdrawn for nothing, I guess that’s their way to get back at me for giving a bad review. Please don’t take my last money that’s in the account now because of this review. I am unemployed at the moment.

    Updated on 08/29/2018: I had an issue with GoBank last month they blocked my account and I couldn’t get my money out because I didn’t have a debit card. But they managed to allow my ex to transfer my money out of the account to my PayPal account and from there to a car of his choosing. I guess you can say he got easy money and I cannot Dispute it PayPal said it’s not protected and I refuse to deal with green dot because it’s excuse after excuse. I am reporting them to the federal reserve, someone has to stop them.

    Original review: They canceled my debit card and sent out a new one, I won’t receive it until next week. I called them and they told me I can transfer my money out of the account. When I attempted to do so they blocked my account and told me to send in a copy of my license and it will take them another 5 days to review it. I am discussed with GoBank. I feel like they are scamming me to take my money. I cannot get gas, food or pay my bills. I will sue them and I filed a complaint with consumerfinance.gov. They handle complaints about financial institutions.

    I first gave you a rating of 1 based on my inability to use my card after putting in $500. However, today, I was able to use it in a local grocery. When my personal name was needed, I was not able to use it. Since it worked in the grocery and I did not lose my money, I re-rated it. I think it is not a scam, but this program needs to be fixed so that it works across the board. Customer service also needs to be improved.

    I bought this card from Rite Aid. The card said you get immediate access to the money you put into the card. After putting in $500 and registering my information, I was told that they could not accept my permit, which is the only ID I have, and so my card is now unusable. I tried to call this company many many times but have not been able to get through to a person and either get my card to be activated or get a refund. Very dishonest company. Stay far away!!

    I bought my Green Dot card, came home, went to the app, put in all my information then it told me I had to wait 24 hours before they would activate it! My son was sitting at a bus station waiting for me to give the lady my card number. I couldn't get a refund so I could exchange for just a regular visa so I had to drive 3 hours to go get my child. I own a company and I give my 20 employees Green Dots to purchase items for the company. I spend around 4 grand a month but after this I'm done with Green Dot. There are plenty other prepaid cards out there that will activate your card on the spot and I called customer service for help hoping they could activate it but they were no help! Never again Green Dot. You would have to do something very special to get my business back. It's sad I have been using you guys for years. Just remember 4,000.00 a month gone from 1 customer and I will tell my other friends, family, and business associates not to use you people.

    I've been having my card since May. Now it's July. I can't load MoneyPak. It's always a different reason. MoneyPak card numbers invalid unable to load get a refund. Can't identify your personal information. There has been suspicious activity on your account. I mean what is this and it's not just my card. Others who money deposited they couldn't get it off. I guess I spoke too soon because now I don't do anything. This card sucks!

Ok now I can send that, but how will that help me? By sending my info of the MoneyPak that's going to fix the problem. Based on customer service they claim nothing was wrong with my account. They don't see why the transaction didn't go through. I feel like the system of MoneyPak is just messed up. I read other comments. Some of them are the same. Why is it so hard to be able to put money on my card. What's suspicious about it?

    I've been using Green Dot for years. Yesterday a friend sent me a MoneyPak in the amount of 118.00 for a bill that is due today. However this time instead of being able to load my account as I normally do I had reached a limit and went to use my partners card and was then told it was blocked due to suspicious activity. I've done nothing wrong and desperately need this money today. Green Dot customer service was no help at all and treated me with such disrespect. I can't wait 3 weeks for a refund! I cannot believe this! I don't know what to do but I'm pretty sure I will not be using Green Dot anymore and I'll also be informing my mother in law she should cancel her direct deposit to her Green Dot card and take her financial matters elsewhere.

    Updated on 07/23/2018: I was in contact with someone from the corporate office and they initially made contact with me it was wonderful. They would answer me immediately and the longest it would take would be 24 hours at the most. They finally said that I would be receiving a check in the mail no more than two weeks after the above mentioned date and today is the last day of the two weeks. I was also given a phone number to call as well as the email if I were to have any other questions or concerns. I have called the number multiple times and it rings twice and dead, I have also emailed the address at least twenty times and have yet to receive a response.

    I'm really frustrated at this point because over a week ago I replied to the email they sent me asking to verify my home address which was wrong and I replied with the correct address and still no response. I'm hoping that if I open a new case on here they will reply quickly once again. I'm very upset with the unprofessional environment that is expressed through the email. I can only hope that the issue is resolved quickly.

    A tip off on this site is that Green Dot is a "bank" to avoid is they have no answers to complaints. They jump in over seldom compliments (probably wrote themselves). They know they terrible and have no defense. ConsumerAFFAIRS - How do they get a 3 star rating when most all ratings I see are 1 Star. I know you cannot do anything about it so I guess I am just venting into cyberspace. The rest of you: Don't say we did not warn you. They allowed charges they originally declined. Then charged 9.95 monthly maintenance fee after just two days on a 100 buck card = 10%! The only recourse is to fill out and fax a long dispute form. They say it can a couple months to resolve. Any major credit card resolves in 1/2 hour or less. I can kiss my money goodbye from this scam bank. Look, there is no such thing as customer service at Green Dot. They decide what you call or do. No other options.

    I put my last $20 on this card for the card to malfunction as soon as I registered it & on top of that they charge you a $7.95 monthly fee as soon as you activate it. Then I call customer service and couldn't even get a word in to speak about my problems. This company is a complete waste. I wouldn't recommend.

    My husband just literally purchased a Walmart Visa Debit card (says debit but is actually a gift card) issued by Green Dot. We live directly across the street from Walmart. Just tried to register the card and it says the card number is invalid. We tried this 3 times before being told to try again in 24 hours. I tried calling the EXTREMELY useless "customer service" number on the back of the card and all it is is an automated system for lost or stolen cards or checking your balance. I thought I'd check the balance to see if there was at least the $50 on there we just paid to use the card. The automated attendant said the card number is invalid. I tried another telephone number for Green Dot that is SUPPOSED to get you to a live person. Once again, this proved to be useless as after entering the card number, I was told to enter the zip code used when registering the card. I tried my own zip code.

    I was told by automated Stan (that's what I'll call him because his voice sounds like his name should be Stan) that the zip code was incorrect and try again. I tried a random zip code. Again, no luck. I then was promptly hung up on by Stan. How RUDE but not any more rude than being sold a card that has apparently already been used and the number either reissued or simply just flat out stolen. Now we are battling with Walmart for getting our money back and uselessly trying to find other Green Dot/Stan/Scam phone numbers since this is clearly a scam. All of this so we didn't have to use our debit/credit cards on iTunes!!! I guess we should have just gone the easier route because we've been taken...but not for long. Green Dot will be SICK of hearing from me and spreading my story everywhere! I can't imagine actually sending my hard earned money to this company in order to use their debit card!!! Debit without any credit will be all you'll receive!

    I bought this card to do shopping online because my bank has this weird security thing where it declines transactions and I have to waste my Time calling the bank up for them to ask me about my last purchases and then they release my funds and I then have to go back through the purchasing process all over again. This has caused me problems with companies such as Groupon who will recharge your card some hours later which means I had then made the purchase twice when I only meant to do it once. So I bought the card in hopes that it would make my life easier... I was totally wrong! They refuse to allow me to have full use of the card and instead have restricted me to in person transactions only... Meaning the one thing I bought it for (shopping online) they refuse to let me use it for...

    When I asked why they said I failed some security questions which I was never asked. I explained this to them and also explained that after three attempts at registering the card with no success I decided to call and register by phone. This is when I was told my card would be restricted. It is because of their crappy website that won’t even allow you to register the dumb card that this all happened. They told me a supervisor would call me and of course no one has! This company is pure crap! Do not give them your money!

    I paid to have a new card sent by Friday. The card arrived with a block on it, before I could even use it! Green Dot just blocks your account, whenever they want, and there is nothing you can do! The customer service number gets you to the Philippines. The staff are of no help whatsoever. Green Dot needs to do better by its customers!

    On Monday of last week the 25th of June I ordered a new card because my old one was damaged. Then on Thursday I called Green Dot and was told that my card that was put in the mail was received and activated so Green Dot reissued me a card. On Friday I called once again and was told that The card that was issued on Thursday was also received and activated. On Monday the 30th imagine my surprise when the original card was in my mailbox unopened. Now because of all of the activity they have blocked my card. I cannot even fix it because I only have the card that was sent by mail. I have been with Green Dot for 8 years and now because of their mistake they want me to prove my identity and I can't because I do not have a valid card. Before all of this I trusted them but not anymore. By the way I cannot get anyone on phone because I am blocked. That means I will lose my power and water tomorrow, this is BS.

    My experience with Green Dot Prepaid Card has been horrible. I used this card one time and they blocked. I have been trying to get my card unlocked for 6 days so my family and I won't be on the streets cause we are homeless. They could care less. Each time you call they tell a different story and I'm so frustrated now cause we will be sleeping in the car just because they won't release my funds again. I save my funds. There is no upper power you can talk to at least that's what they say and you can't find the number online. I don't recommend anyone to buy this card.

    This card has ruined my whole week. My boyfriend went to our local CVS to get me a prepaid card so we could pay our car payment. Normally I do the card buying and I have never even seen these Green Dot ones. Well it just so happened to be the one he picked up. He 260 dollars on the card to make the payment and went back to the car to register it. They told him there was an error registering it. He proceeded to call them to see what was wrong and when he FINALLY got a person they hung up on him as he was making his complaint. He called me at work to let me know what was going on so I called.

    When I finally got through to someone, which took me just about my whole hour's break, she told me they could not verify his info so they could not activate the card. I don't know how on earth they could not verify him. He's had the same birthday and SS number his whole life. We've never been denied for anything. She then told me she would issue a refund check and it would take TWO WEEKS to get to us. Well try explaining that to my ** loan company for my freaking car. I've tried calling back multiple times to talk to someone else and have gotten nowhere and have not reached another person since. I have a feeling I won't be seeing that money again. I am literally sick over this. 260 dollars might not seem like a lot to some people. It's definitely a lot to us! I've never been scammed in my life. I'm in shock. How can places still be selling these cards?!?!

    Please know what you're getting into by ordering prepaid cards from Green Dot. I bought my card from Food Lion. I loaded my funds and register my card and forgot to put in my mobile number. They told me I failed verification without mobile number, but are willing to send me a check and it will take 3 weeks. But can use card for in store purchase and not online. The customer service are extremely rude. When ask to talk to an supervisor, she tried to disguise her voice. Don't buy this card. It's a ripoff and it's hard to get in touch with customer service. They need stickers saying don't use this card if you don't have a mobile number.

    I purchased a Green Dot prepaid card, and loaded $20 onto it. It was the last bit of money I had, and wanted to have a means to save money, and be able to order items off the net. I quickly found out my account was frozen and I was unable to use it. This was all due to the fact that a few years prior I had allowed my fiance to use my card to direct deposit her tax refund onto. I did not find out that my account had been flagged until I purchased another card through Green Dot. I was told that I needed to submit a copy of my Driver's license and the flag would be lifted. When I was finally able to send them my license the flag was lifted a few days later but now it said my balance was zero 0.00.

    I called and called and spoke to customer rep... was hung up on the first time, and was given the runaround by people I could barely understand. What I was told is that they took my $20 for fees for monthly charges even though I was unable to use my card. And after all that they closed my account, told me they couldn't give me back my money because I no longer had an account and told me there wasn't anything I could do. So I spent $25.00 all together and had nothing to show from choosing to trust Green Dot but a useless piece of plastic with my name on it. I have sent them a letter to the address they list on their website explaining my situation but after my dreadful experience of being "taken" I am not holding my breath. Buyer beware!

    I am hardworking parent and I am educator that knows how things should be done. I made a couple purchases and my Card was blocked. I submitted the documents that was needed and now they are stating that my account is closed, I have direct deposit through my employer and I am upset and will be looking to take this matter to court.

    I've had my acct. for about 6 months. I've done a few mobile deposits and understood when they said the first one may take longer since I just started using it, but normally I will have my money in 1 business day. Did a mobile deposit this morning for a state issued tax refund check. They send my email approving it and tell me I'll get my funds on July 10th... in TEN DAYS. Are you kidding me? I could have paid a small fee and cashed it today. Then I'm told I can't retract the deposit that hasn't cleared yet, I have to wait the 10 days. After I get my deposit I WILL CANCEL MY ACCT. AND WARN OTHERS!!

    If I had a score lower than one I would just put that as well! I have had nothing but a horrible experience with this company. I will not stop writing BAD reviews on Green Dot until someone gets back to me about my money which was taken due to unusual activity. I submitted all documents request and STILL NEVER RECEIVED A ** ANSWER!!! Green Dot is a PONZI scheme that holds people's money and sits on it forever!!! I will smile the ** day your bank is doomed!!

    I wish I had seen these comments before having my direct deposit out on this card. I had over 2200 stolen first time. I filed dispute. It was denied. Then when it was resubmitted I was told to get a police report which I did. I also had a letter from the place my card was used and compromised and still denied. It's crazy how much money they have stolen from others.

    Updated on 08/20/2018: My dispute was denied on here. Green Dot said they would be in touch but I have not received a call. I want to know how to take it to arbitration since it's part of the cardholder agreement. That's how we would handle things.

    Earlier this week, I called Green Dot to cancel my card because it was lost at my place of employment. I paid to have the card expedited so that I could receive it by Friday. Thankfully, the card arrived on time. However, when I tried to activate it, I was told that the card was blocked! There was no way to speak with anyone to help me. The automated service requested verification of my identity, which I provided immediately. Then I was told that this process would take two business days. So I wait in total frustration!

    Do not give this company any money. They are a complete scam and are committing fraud on a massive scale. They make it extremely easy to contact them to open an account, but have made it absolutely impossible to contact them to get your money back. They screw up your personal info so you cannot use the call in customer service and simply ignore you if you try to communicate with them via their Facebook Customer Service page.

    I received my direct deposit on 6/28/2018. On 6/29/2018 they closed my account for a reason no one could provide me. I was then put on hold for an hour to speak with a "supervisor." The lady was far from a supervisor. They said I would receive a check in 10 business days. I asked if they could do a wire transfer Western Union anything at all FedEx one day shipping but the lady said, "That's the only option we have." "Like what do you mean you can't walk to FedEx and drop something off?" For something to take 10 days they would have to ship it out 5 days from now.

    I have kids I need to feed, gas for my car to go to work, my rent is now going to be late. I will have to pay a 100 late fee. Why you may ask? Because they closed my account for no reason and they can't re "open" it. They are clueless dumb. Have no common sense to anything and have no true desire to help you. They will only read off their manual script, "So sorry sir for the long wait but we can't help you," nor do I actually care to. She then said I could wait up to one business day to speak with a manager. "Ummm I waited an hour to speak with one which was suppose to be you."

    If you want stress, terrible customer service then join Green Dot. Any bank I mean any bank is better than this at. NetSpend isnt awful but they at least sometimes go outside the box for customers. Not these guys. Miles while pay Walmart 99 cents to cash your check then 99 cents to pay bills via Western Union. You're already paying them 10 dollars a month just to have the account then 4.95 for every reload.

    I am new to the Green Dot card, but haven’t had any complaints until now. I received my direct deposit, but was unable to withdraw money out of my account. It said it was block and needed further review. I had not used my card in about a week or so. When I called customer service, they said there was suspicious activity on my account, but they would not tell me what it was, they said that I had to email them a photo of my driver's license and after they received it I couldn’t use my card for 2 more days. Well this is the 2nd day and my account is still blocked.

    I have had to call numerous places and tell them that I can’t pay my bills right now. No one informed me about any suspicious activity or I could have gotten it taken care of long before my direct deposit hit. So now I have the money in my account but can’t use it. I have no gas and my kids are out of school for summer and we are in need of groceries. I’m sure there is a way easier way of confirming someone’s identity than this, this is beyond ridiculous.

    I have load my card with a deposit of $295 in hopes of renting a car. The first place I went to Budget Car Rental tried to place a hold for $200 and was declined twice so I called the service number on back of card and was told that there was no activity placed on the card. So I left the place thinking they did not want to rent me car and were jerking me around. So I went to another rental place. Deposit same amount $200. Enterprise rental car same thing. Even the manager got involved. Said there should be no reason why the card should not go through due it was a major credit. Tried 3 times. Decline all three times. Call services again and was told there was no activity on the card for it to be declined and if so they will be able to give me a reason why, so at this point I'm stump and thinking, "There is something wrong with the card, like the strip on the back of card. Damage."

    So I went to a local store. Made a small purchase and it was approved so I was like, "What is going on." So I went to one last rental car Thrifty Car Rental. Deposit only $90 this time. Had a $290 credit limit and the card was decline twice. Called customer service once again. Same thing. They see no activity far as being declined but it was at three locations. Even ask to speak with a supervisor and was unable to help. They were clueless. Ask if the issues can be escalated to a higher department and was told there is nothing else can be done in the event. Had to catch Lyft in Los Angeles to all three locations and wasted $47.40 to be exact to rent a car with a card I should had been able to. I am very dissatisfied that I was unable to get the issue resolve and lost money in the long run. I highly do not recommend use of this card if trying to rent a car and I had a very important meeting the following day.

    This is the worst company ever. I got my Green Dot. Got paid from my job and it's been ten days and they have not released my money. If you all want to keep your money I repeat don't use this card. Customer service is **. No one wants to help. It's a wild goose chase to get money that belongs to you. I want to sue but don't know how to go about. This company is the worse. Now here it is finally July 1. Still no money. All I want is my money. I have no lights and two children. These people do not care.

    I order a Green Dot Card and got one going on 2 weeks ago and I tried to activate it but I couldn't, they said that the couldn't verify me. Well just yesterday I got an email saying my Green Dot card will be here and I got it that same day but I didn't order a new one but I tried to active it and I couldn't because it say my card numbers and or 3 security numbers are wrong. And I really need my card and I done double checked everything and nothing seems to work. I tried on the laptop and cell phone online and I called the number.

    My card was declined several times today, and when trying to call and ask why, I got a response to please hold for a rep and then it said there were technical difficulties and hung up on me. Now when I call it says that they saw I called several times and that my status hasn't changed and my card is blocked and I should know why based on my previous calls... But I never talked to anyone!!! I have a trip planned this weekend and have no money as my direct deposit is now blocked!

    Updated on 7/4/2018: I’ve called every day. Even though I sent my documents June 28 I was told they didn’t receive them until June 30 and my 2 business days start from there. It is now July 4 and now I’m getting told it takes 5 business days!! I asked where I can find that in writing as the automated system and everywhere else says 2 business days. She told me it changed on July 2 which is a lie and a joke, and either way my case started prior to this “change”. I asked for a supervisor and was told I was speaking to one, another lie. They are illegally holding my money and lying and I will be filing sanctions against them for their illegal practices.

    I've been getting my direct deposit just fine for the last 2 or 3 weeks. Then today all of the sudden I can't get access to my direct deposit. I've been calling the number on the card for customer service all morning with no luck. The automated system keeps saying they are experiencing technical difficulties. I have bills to pay and want my money. How can you keep people from accessing their own money. Soon as I get my money I will not use Green Dot prepaid card again. BEWARE.

    I have been a customer of Green Dot for many years. I've had no complaints up until now. There's absolutely NO WAY to speak with a live person! Talk about frustrated. My check for some reason has NOT been deposited today and it's not an issue with my job and of course I can't speak with someone to figure it out.     I bought a prepaid card from 711. The card was not reloadable and Green Dot charge me a 9.95 monthly fee and wouldn't refund my money. I can't use the card for online purchases. Explain to me how I'm charge a monthly fee on a card I can't reload and I'm never using again? And I try using the card in the store and it won't work. I will tell my friends about it not to use this company and I top of that they charge me 1.95 fee in the store. I will never us Green Dot again.

    My husband's paycheck was deposited onto our prepaid card 2 days early to save us from having our utilities shut off. Green Dot picked it up as suspicious and instead of contacting me - placed a hold on our account. They have been persistent that there is no way to remove the block for 2-7 business days even though there is an e-mail where I sent my ID for verification.

    There is also a suspicious "investigation team" which doesn't accept calls and works out of the "back office." I have 3 small children and am now going to have to either get a loan or go without gas/electric until this issue is resolved AS WELL AS pay a reinstatement fee which Green Dot made clear they would not assist me in paying even though it's their fault! The customer service was horrible and the representatives I spoke to were awful and nasty and non remorseful at all...they didn't even attempt to TRY to fix the situation. I am so frustrated and will be contacting my lawyer to assess my rights.

    I'm irate. I have been trying to activate my card & it keeps telling me my birthday does not match records. There is no way to bypass this or even prove my identity & that they are wrong with no customer service talk to an actual human option. When you look up how it straight up lies about the options available or how to actually speak to someone therefore I am being punished for what? Their failure to have correct info or a way for customers to talk to someone & verify their identity. Furthermore they also state you must verify your identity before they'll send you personalized card in mail but I have 2. Neither one that works & no way to get the money I need without it. I am done with this company unless this is fixed tonight & I'm doubting that since I've now spent 2 hrs exhausting all options! Customer service is one of the most important things Green Dot. Get it together.

    My son purchased one of these cards as a Mother's Day gift for me. He loaded $50 on it. I didn't register it right away because I was waiting until I found something to purchase with it. I registered it on June 17th and was shocked to find out that there was only $8 left on the card because someone had used it to purchase movie tickets online from Fandango for $42 on May 26th! How could someone use it to make an online purchase when the card had not even been registered yet? I have tried to call customer service various times of the day and there is no way to talk to a live person. It is all automated. Very frustrating! I have printed out the transaction dispute form and emailed to them, but have had no response. I have also faxed it to them, still no response. Please don't waste your money on this card!!!

    My experience with Green Dot was no different than several other relationships I've had in my life. They had me on an emotional rollercoaster from the gate. Excited about all the potential interactions we would be having online too soon turned into disappointment and me questioning my judgment once again as to why did I pick Green Dot in the first place. As soon as I got over myself and used the resources available to me my problem was resolved; the wrong was righted, the fraudulent charge was credited and I can move on.     My story. I'm currently homeless. I don't have an address. I don't have regular access to wifi or the internet. It is what it is right now. June 5 about 11pm I went into a 7-11 in Torrance, CA and put 100 dollars on a Green Dot Visa. I had two things to take care of: joining a gym for a daily shower, and a new mobile phone. June 6 I went to Walmart to purchase a phone and my card was declined. I signed onto the Green Dot site and reviewed my activity as it hadn't even been ten hours since money had been put on the card. There was a 39.99 dollar charge to a SPECTRUM utility account which had been made and I DIDN'T DO IT. I called the SPECTRUM number and I called Green Dot each just passed me off to the other. SOOOO FRUSTRATING! Literally, this was all the money I had.

    Eventually I reached a Green Dot person who told me I had to cancel that card and the fraudulent charge would take up to 3 weeks for investigation before I would have that money back. CRAZY! I HAD NO OPTIONS. So, this Green Dot person asked me what my address was. I told her I was homeless but I did have a mailing address for urgent matters. While looking thru my wallet for my id I had misspoken and instead of saying 945 I guess I said 745 and without hesitation that person changed my mailing address with a click of her button. I had no choice whether to press 1 for yes or 2 for no...correct or incorrect...like the initial prompt when calling Green Dot.

    That woman just caused me MORE GRIEF! She then proceeded to tell me I had to wait 24 hours then call back to change my mailing address back its original and correct state. I will not lie and say I did not refrain from calling that Green Dot IDIOT a few choice expletives she rightfully deserved. I mean talking to the Philippines with matters regarding a simple credit card is nuts to begin with but to listen to her corporate jib jab and fake apologetic words over my cell almost made me pull my own eyes out of their socket. I waited a couple of days and called Green Dot back. Now my account has been blocked. Now I have to send Green Dot a copy of my ID before I can activate my card.

    Here's the kicker... I DON’T HAVE A FRICKEN BLOODY GREEN DOT CARD BECAUSE THEIR REPRESENTATIVE GOT CLICKER HAPPY and entered an incorrect address to my account sending me OVER THE FRICKEN EDGE! I can’t reach anyone over the phone because the moment I enter my social security number I'm immediately told my account is blocked, upload id for a 2 day review. Oh MY GOD! I don't have a card. The only thing I can do is listen to the Green Dot message and get more and more frustrated. To sweeten my ordeal, they even had the courtesy of charging me a ten dollar monthly fee.

    Let's review. The charge that hit my card was a utility fee. Not tangible. Not something in the mail. It should have been as simple as a cancel button or a reverse button so whatever account was credited by the charge on my card was simply and easily reversed and canceled and the funds returning to their proper place on my account. I should have had my money back instantly. Instead I have had to deal with ** from Green Dot. It's been over 20 days and I'm at a loss for how to proceed. I will never use this company for anything ever again and will never have positive words regarding them.

    I am an Uber Driver who uses my Green Dot to cash out my earnings instantly. It's hit or miss with Green Dot. I have had several delays more than 6 times where Green Dot won't release my pay instantly, and they hold my money for days. When you call customer service they lie constantly to get you off the phone. A supervisor never returns your call and you can barely understand the representative because they are outsourced.

    This matter needs to be handled immediately. I cannot pay my rent or any other necessary bills, yet along feed myself. I was locked out of my account June 21, 2018 and was asked that I send in verification documents. That being front/back image of my ID on a dark surface. It was confirmed through an agent that it was received and my account would be unlocked in two business days. Here it is two business days later I am still locked out of my account. My only other option is to take legal actions because I am now suffering as a customer of Green Dot.

    I received my survival benefits like I normally do every month and all of a sudden after my money was deposited my account was blocked. I have tried to call several times and now it keeps me at an automated message saying how my card is still blocked and to send the proper documentation and I don't even know what documentation that they want. I just would like to have my card unblocked so I can have my money and pay my bills and my college tuition. Thank you.

    Anyone can buy a Green Dot card at a retailer but to use it they make you jump through hoop after hoop with disclosing sensitive and confidential information. BEWARE because minors fall prey to this - After being led to believe you have to "register" to use the card, they immediately take $7.95 out of your pre-paid balance for their "monthly" fee (this is on top of the fee you paid to buy the card). It is also unclear to purchasers that the "Debit" card can't be used to make an online purchase - SURPRISE. Customer "service" is a total fraudulent JOKE: They insist on talking to the child who buys it and refuse to let the parents resolve -and a minor cannot enter into a contract - but they won't rescind the "contract" and return the purchaser to being made whole.

    In other words, GREEN DOT, RETURN THE MONEY YOU STOLE FOR YOUR IMMEDIATE SELF-PROCLAIMED "MONTHLY FEE." If they are going to make their system have the illusion of being like Fort Knox, then their terms should be clearly disclosed from the beginning and a valid state-issued ID required to ensure those purchasing are over 18 years of age and able to enter into a legally binding and confusing agreement before any purchase is made.

    Furthermore, their "management" refuses to resolve, even when contacted and specifically asked for a resolution. They have a confusing system - their phone will not allow you to access a representative and "Supervisors" won't talk to people. They have all these catch phrases too and their call center sounds like it's in a foreign country - it screams "scam" and preying upon and taking money from unsuspecting people. It's really shameful such entities exist and are allowed to conduct "business" in the US.

    I have a Green Dot debit card and decided to use this card to receive my direct deposits one day earlier than my bank account. This was the worst decision that I made! I called in regards to a couple issues regarding my money that was held by another company. I spoke to the company and they stated that they would release the $400 hold within 3 days; I called Green Dot and they told me it would take 14 days for the hold to be released. After I filed a dispute regarding the matter. I specifically told Green Dot that I did not want my card to be inactivated it due to not being able to access my funds.

    Green Dot representative verbally agreed and stated that I should call back if I decide to have another card issued. I went out to eat with my children; attempted to use my card and was told that the card is no longer working. I called the company after another transaction was denied. I was then told that they deactivated my card and sent another card and it will take 9 business days to receive. Green Dot sent the card to the wrong address and I was told that they would reissue out another card within 3 days, expedited. I received an email the next day that they placed a block on my account.

    The email stated that I needed to send a copy of my ID to the email that was provide it in my email for them to verify identity. I attempted to send my driver's license through the website that they instructed me to send my information to; but due to Green Dot. placing a block on my account, I was unable to do so. I called Green Dot. and was told to send a copy of my driver's license to the email address provided, but when I tried to verify the receipt of my driver's license; I was sent to an automatic message and they refused to answer any calls, by stating they had no further information to provide. I attempted to log into my account to see my balance and I was also denied access to my account and I am unable to talk to a representative regarding this matter.

    I was upset due to the fact that I could not access my account. Previously on the call prior to being blocked, I asked the company why did they not contact me prior to deactivating my card. They stated that they will note my account and will contact me if this event occurs again. I have tried to call and speak to a representative several times and they will not answer the phones. I have no access to my money and I have no way of contacting this company who has over $2000 of my funds that I cannot access.

    I had to contact my job to discontinue direct deposits. I am also searching for a legal representative to help me investigate my rights regarding banking institutions denying access to my account. I have to apply for a loan until payday due to the fact that I am unable to access my money. I will also have to go purchase another Green Dot card with another account number just to be able to reach customer service because I am blocked from calling the company due to them blocking my account. I am very upset regarding this activity that appears fraudulent.

    I have been a Green Dot customer for just 6 weeks. Everything was fine with my first 2 direct deposits. Today my direct deposit was loaded and as I always do, I go online and pay all my bills. On my lunch break, my card was declined. Luckily, I had a $20 in my purse, but this situation is already beyond embarrassing. I immediately call and was told my account was on hold “pending verification”. I asked why and they could not tell me why even though I answered all of their verification questions. They said to email them a picture of my license and that it would be 2 business days before I have access to my account. I let them know this is unacceptable as I have a trip tomorrow and at least need to be able to withdraw money from an atm.

    Lots of "I understand, but". This is ridiculous. I then ask to speak with a manager, but apparently there is no manager present and I won’t receive a call back for 24hrs. Seriously?! I leave in the morning. Well I was supposed. How am I supposed to do that when every dime I own is on this card?? I have sent the email in with the info requested several times at this point. No verification that they have received only automated messages and complete bs. I have lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and it definitely will not end there if I lose money from deposits made on this trip because I can’t go. Do not use this company. Any other banking institution will at least call and warn you of something suspicious and verify over the phone that you are who you say you are. Not these hoops that they have going on. Not ok Green Dot.

    I loaded $40.00 on my Green Dot card on 6/19/2018. Usually it’s accessible pretty fast. It is now 6/20/18 and I still can not access those funds. This isn’t my first bad experience with this company. A few months ago I loaded a $700.00 check on my Green Dot card and it took almost two weeks, a lot of calls and a lot of tears for them to finally release my funds. I will be looking for a prepaid card that is not associated with Green Dot. This company needs to be held accountable for their actions and stopped. They are a scam and will never see another penny from me. Today I talked to a rep and she told me my funds were posted to my card to try it. Well it wasn’t and they charged me $.50 to check my balance at a atm. They made sure to take their monthly fee out of my $40.00 plus an extra $1.00 for checking my balance at an atm like they told me to. I am very very unhappy.

    I purchased a Green Dot card on Friday. Place $40 on it try to activate it. It would not activate. Then later on that night I finally got it activated. It told me I needed to verify my identity. I took a picture at their web page and send it in of my ID. They send me an email telling me, "Great news. Your identity's been verified. Your new signature card will be out in the mail." So I wait for 48 hours because the card that I purchased at the store they had blocked.

    So finally on Monday I contact them back check the card and it tells me, "Your identity has not been verified." And they closed my card that still has $29.10 on it. The only thing was taken off of it was their 9.95 monthly service fee. This is a horrible company horrible customer service and I will never do business with Green Dot again I. So we'll stick to NetSpend and I'm hoping to recover all of my money. Not just the 29.10 the whole $40 but from the sounds of the reviews and reading stuff it don't look like it's going to happen.

    Green Dot changed the process for reloading money from other bank accounts. They used to let you directly transfer money for a $2.95 fee and it would be on your Green Dot card within a couple days. Then they changed it to where you have to do an ACH transfer from your bank account. I entered the account number and routing number for my Green Dot card and transferred $200 but it was never added to my card. Talking to customer service is impossible. It never got resolved after 3 weeks of dealing with it and my money was lost.

    Green Dot prepaid credit card has an extremely bad accounting control. They allow other people to use your card and rob you. This has happen more than once and the most recent time a charge was made on my card to WSS39 for $142.42 and they refuse to refund my money. Each time the people using my card manage to use the total amount of money on the card. They use an overseas call center and it is a waste of time to try to deal with them. This is the last time I use their card and would not advise anyone to use their service.

    Updated on 11/05/2018: This place does not contact you when they say they will. Every number I’ve been given by GreenDot Corporations has been phony and I can never EVER get through to these people. Green Dot Corporations has ruined my life and has made it very much a very tough past couple years for me and my family. Why would Green Dot Corporations reopen a claim for me THREE times, and act like I was going to recover my stolen funds THREE times, and then tell me they would have results by the 10th day but have me find out they already closed it without actually doing any real investigations and then still not contact me to let me know that they’ve decided to close my dispute and not grant my disputes in my favor.

    They know very well that they can’t get into contact with most of these unauthorized transactions on my account and yet they still lie to me over the phone, and on this site as well and state that they are willing to replace my card and have refunded me my money. This place has no respect for their customers and they charge hidden fees and block people from accessing THEIR money and then have the nerve to have someone call me from a 000-000-0000 number and pretty much call me a liar and then “lose signal”. They then reopen another case and then go and do the exact same thing after having me file a police report, and send in a written letter and hand sign my statement and resend in my dispute update forms. Then close it again.

    I am feeling very very disrespected by GreenDot Corporations, Walmart MoneyCard, go bank and all of GreenDot Corporations affiliates. This must be addressed somehow and now I’m being harassed by different phone callers and my accounts are being suspended and closed, all because I chose to fight for my money that was taken from me and my family. That’s truly a shame and I’ll never be the same again after what GreenDot Corporations has put me and my family through this past couple years. Please consider my side of things. Thank you and I hope this helps someone out there.

    Original Review: Please take the time to read this as I feel it’s very important and should be put out there for individuals to see and to really twice about getting involved with the Green Dot Corporation cards and its affiliates. I have had quite a few Green Dot Cards from Green Dot Corporation, I’ve had a few Walmart Moneycards, Account Now accounts, Go Bank cards & Green Dot Corporation accounts, and I’ve never been treated and disrespected by anyone as bad as I have with Green Dot Corporation and all the other 3 affiliates I just mentioned.

    I have been trying to work out certain issues and multiple fraudulent unauthorized transactions on my accounts with them all for months now. I’ve also given their “investigation” teams way more time than they actually really deserve to close out all these disputes and cases. Truth is, no matter how many times I’ve called been brushed off, turned down and been blocked, or no matter how many times I’ve been put on hold or told I would be transferred to a Supervisor or a Manager and after being placed on extremely long holds of about 20-30 mins each time only to be hung up on before being able to speak to anyone I have come to the conclusion that Green Dot Corporation is not a place you really want to bank at.

    My days have been long and my nights sleepless at times and this was due to me having to at times become and investigate myself and track down my missing money from these Malicious Greedy ** and they will always know and remember the days that screwed over Daniel ** as I took over these investigations and pretty solved a couple cases and was able to aid in the recovery of some funds. In fact I have actually caught Walmart Money Card lying to me about some deposits were really actually some funds that apparently had been refunded and withdrawn by me. Lies!

    Now, Green Dot Corporation has been claiming that all my cards and accounts have in fact been refunded to me. I beg to differ because I’ve been spending the past few months to a year trying to get through to Green for and to communicate with these companies and I do believe that Green Dot has finally had enough time to truly see how hard I’ve been trying to fight and communicate with them regarding this matter. They were wrong here and although I have the evidence to back these claims up, I really don’t think Green Dot cares anymore at this point.

    People, SAVE ALL your cards from Green Dot as you may need them too one day and although I hope that this doesn’t happen to anyone else ever again. I’m sure I’m not the first, nor will I be the last to suffer a blow of this magnitude from Green Dot and its affiliates. Green Dot is a total scam and they will try and say that they will work with you and work for you but at the end of the day it’s all just for show and they're actually trying to work against you and take your money like they did with me.

    Green Dot has been withholding money from me for months now, denying all of my claims and disputes and claiming they never receive the documents asked to investigate these claims. It’s no wonder they don’t receive them at this point, it’s really because you can’t seem to get through to them once you're blocked and put on their “avoid at all cost list.” I have though and after finally getting through a few months later and after going through 4 different devices because I’ve been blocked and recognized each time I log in or call, and after changing my cell number at least 4 times because each one kept getting blocked, I’ve finally got in touch and got through to them to discuss my most recent issues with them.

    Recently I pulled out a card that I know was for sure suppose to have money on it and I managed to log into one of my accounts attached to that card and saw that my refunds were in fact sent back to that account, but as quickly as it was sent back to my account it was taken out just as quickly. The thing with that though that actually triggered me to finally going to the police besides being neglected for nearly a 1 1/2 years and besides being treated like a criminal, hung up on and blocked by Green Dot after all these attempts to collect my money, and after basically being told I was a fraud and that I was not going to be able to recover any stolen funds was when I pullled out one of the 20+ cards from my old accounts that had supposedly been closed and not accessible when I last spoke to Green Dot.

    I actually had called over the phone just to see if it would actually work and give me any information about my account and I got as far as having to input the last four of my social security and when I did put those four digits into the keypad of my phone it had stating that those digits was not matching the information that was stored on their files. Hmmmmm??? Weird because I’ve never once changed my social security. Same thing happened on another card but this it was with my 6 digit birthday and five digit zip code. Really weird if you ask me!

    People, I’ve never changed my social security number and honestly why would I if I’m expecting money to be returned to me? It just doesn’t make any sense. Same with my birth date and my zip code and now after a treacherous on going battle between Green Dot Corporation and after a very very stressful, a very struggling and poor year and after having to get personal loans and having to borrow money from friends and family just to support my family and to live our daily lives until I received back some of those disputes and unauthorized transactions I was promised and thought for sure would be recovered by Green Dot but wasn’t, I’ve finally gathered up enough evidence to hopefully put these horrible business practices by Green Dot to rest.

    Pretty much someone has changed my personal account information to reflect their own personal information in order to receive these funds that were coming back to me. There were potential thousands if not ten’s of thousands of dollars that were either pending disputes or going to be sent back to me and to my accounts and because I’ve been having to solve Green Dot’s investigations for them at times, I’ve been consumed by either work, school these cases and just trying to take care of my family and raise a little girl people and I simply just can’t keep up with all of that anymore. I’ve decided to do what I should’ve done since day one and go to the police. I have filed a police report and now between that and with the evidence I have provided to Green Dot and to the police Green Dot has now requested me to sit tight and wait for a phone from them. They will finally look over these accounts.

    Green Dot just lost about 6.3 million dollar to a Class Action Lawsuit filed against them recently and now they're most likely going into another case against a case that can possibly be chopped up as identity theft and changing personal account information to transfer or aid in the transfer of thousands of dollars. I’ve sat back this entire time and I’ve gathered up all some data, and I account history statements of some of those cards. The cards that have been tampered with and altered with.

    I truly hope my story will really make whoever reads this maybe think twice before getting involved with Green Dot Corporation and I truly hope that no one will ever have to go through the nightmare I’ve been put through this past year and half trying to recover these funds because it’s not a good feeling and to be honest it’s really messed up my head, given me trust issues with just about every relationship I’ve had and now it’s time to take action and get what it is that was taken from me.     I loaded money on Green Dot Card yesterday because we are leaving for vacation Sunday at 5 am. I have a six-month-old daughter who needs diapers and they blocked my card and did not even notify me. When talking to someone all you get is "Sorry." How do a company block your card without your permission or even call to say they believe it is suspicious activity going on with the card.

    Then I was told to borrow money. Why should I have to borrow money when I have money on the card for the things I have to do. I said I could not feed my kids. That was all the money I had. All I heard was, "Sorry there is nothing we can do. You have to wait two business days for someone from Corporate to contact you" and I asked for the corporate number. They claim there is no corporate number. They have to transfer you. My kids are so disappointed I had to cancel our trip. I will lose money for the hotel we paid for three weeks ago. All I keep hearing is, "I am sorry. There is nothing I can do." How can this happen to people and you do not even notify them. Wife went to the store to pick up some things and she felt like an idiot.

    I have had 0 problems with this company and card since I have had it. Have made many purchases with it, rented cars, booked hotel rooms etc. And since I have had it I have maintained my credit limit and made payments on time. The first problem started in May 2018. I made 2 deposits to my card to bring my balance owed to 0. Then tried to use it to make my car payment as I always do. It was declined. Couldn't be right so I tried it again, declined again. Called Green Dot and had gotten one of their "wonderful" customer service reps who stated that no deposits were made to my account and they were not showing any pending deposits. I was then forced to fax over my receipts from the location I used to load my card. After 2 days, and a late car payment, I finally had the funds applied to my account. Should have been a warning there. But I didn't pay it any attention.

    Fast forward to today. I made 3 deposits to my card to bring my balance to 0. Being Father's Day weekend I had a heck of a time trying to find a vehicle to rent to attend a funeral in a different state. After calling all over my area for a rental, I finally found one 2 1/2 hours away. I made the reservation and was on my way. After arriving at the location I went through the normal check out issues. Not my first time renting a car with this card. BAM declined. Surely this must be some mistake right? I called the card to verify funds. They were there. Asked the not so patient lady at the desk to please run it again. Declined again. Needless to say after a 2 1/2 hour drive to get this vehicle I was a bit beside myself.

    So again I go to the phone and had gotten yet another "wonderful" customer service rep. Who "ever so nicely" explained to me that car rentals were no longer allowed on the platinum card. Um excuse me? What? Were my 1st 2 replies. So after being told there was nothing and I mean NOTHING she could do even after explaining my situation to her, I then had to turn around and thank the pleasant lady at the car rental place and head back home. So I had finally arrived back home. 5 hours driving wasted. And the worse part of all of it? I miss my grandfather's funeral. Thank you so much Green Dot for being there when I need to make a payment, but not being there when I need you to authorize a transaction I have done many times.

    I bought a Green Dot card May 15, 2018 and it asked for an ID. I submitted it and it denied it! Why?! I don't know!! But I got an email to submit a refund request and send in proof of purchase, the card and ID. I did all that and STILL a month later have not received my money!!! It was $300 that I need for bills like NOW!!! Where the hell is my money?! I can't call and talk to someone live and when I did the man so unprofessional it's ridiculous!! He told me I sounded SEXY. Who the hell does that?! WHERE IS MY MONEY!!??

    I got a card with Green Dot loaded money on there and they blocked my card. They said I need to upload my license so I did this. 150 times the system keep saying can't read it. I've called Green Dot several times. You cannot speak with a live person. I wouldn't recommend this card to anyone. You will lose your money!

    Very high cost associate with card. Just to activated it will cost you nearly $10. Received this card is a gift by mistake. Trying to rectify the situation. Took me nearly 2 weeks. Finally I was able to find a number to call 1-866-291-0818. The phone number on the back of the card is useless waste of time. After going through the automated system for several minutes. I finally able to talk to a live person. Very sad to see this company is allowed to charge such high fees. This company is a fine example of why people hate BANKS. It’s legalized theft by the Banking industry. Targeting the most needed among us. Sad to see.

    Bought this card for my teenager to use while traveling with a school group. They blocked the card before we ever tried to use it. Can't get hold of a live person through any method and document upload isn't working. It says my documents were illegible, but I wasn't even given the option to upload.     Dear Walmart, I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You for being such an upstanding company! (Insert mountains of sarcasm here) Let me explain: so my mom buys my 16 year old daughter a gift card for her birthday. Daughter receives Walmart Visa gift in the mail on April 1st. Activates the card on Walmart’s gift card website sometime during the weekend of May 12 & 13th. Goes to use said Walmart Visa gift card and it declines. Mind you she literally had just activated about 10 minutes before she tried using it. The gift card was purchased for $50. I look on the website and there is now $1.00 left on the card. I look at the transaction history to find out that $49.00 was spent on 9 April to pay an electricity bill in Southern Ca. We do not live in Southern Ca. We don’t even live on the west coast. We don’t know anyone on Southern CA.

    I filed a dispute with Green Dot the company that handles the Walmart gift cards. My dispute was denied because the card was used prior to being activated. How does a card get used prior to it being activated? Literally $49 of her $50 gift card was stolen! Makes you wonder what other breach they may have, but then it could be their employees stealing since Green Dot is in Southern California. And Walmart and Green Dot being such customer friendly companies denied my claim. They clearly don’t care about their customers or about retaining them. My mom is now out $50 and my child basically got $1 for her birthday. Green Dot was nice enough to send the below check for the balance that was left on the card! DO NOT BUY WALMART GIFT CARDS! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY FILLING THEIR CORPORATE POCKETS!

    Updated on 6/30/2020: After almost two years, I have never received my money. I was promised by Daniel that I would get my money, but he soon disappeared and never responded.. He was just trying to clean up the Consumer Affairs negative reviews.. I'm filing a lawsuit this week for either fraud or contract violation.. Seems fraud is better as I can recoup damages as well as monies owed.. These guys prey on those who are financially disabled.. They are horrible.

    Original review: Said "suspicious activity", asked for my ID, sent my state driver's license, then turn around and say they couldn't verify my (better tell the State of California their driver's license aren't good enough for Green Dot!). When I tried to reach a real person, their phone system kept saying my card was canceled, account closed and then it hung up. I started blasting them on Twitter, finally got a call only to be told that I wasn't getting my money back!! I called BS, asked WHY they didn't accept my driver's license as ID (I even sent my power bill!). All the woman said, was nothing wise could be done. I says, "Fine, just send me my money." SHE SAID NO! Again I called BS. She says they would be sending the money to my states "unclaimed asset". Said there was nothing I could do. These people are horrible THIEVES.

    This company is a total scam. My mom bought us 2 Green Dot Cards for birthdays, etc. thinking they were just gift cards because they act like they are. Then trying to get a refund for them was ridiculous! You call the # on the back of the card and it sends you in circles. They try to get your SSN#- why? And then you either get sent back to the number that sends you in automated circles or they take all your information and say you're going to get a call or email (which you don't). They won't let you speak to a manager or tell you the name of the CEO of the company - the guy told me he didn't even know who the CEO was. The whole business is shady - please help shut them down!

    Worse card when it comes to customer and identity protection. Your money is not safe. The alerts and notifications are pointless. I have noticed a transaction I did not authorize on my card for 700.00 immediately I called them and they said there is nothing they can do once the transaction has been initiated. That transaction wiped me out of everything I had money wise and I cannot get to work. After being up all night waiting to speak to a supervisor who said that they would call me back and didn't, once I finally spoke to one she told me that I would have to wait until the transaction is posted because it says pending (yet the money is already taken out) to be able to then initiate a claim.

    The incident happened on 6.9.18 and I may have to wait until July 14th to maybe, possibly get my money back. YOUR MONEY IS NOT SAFE!!! The only thing they can do is tell you to wait 1 month while you are in dire need of your hard earned money that was stolen from you. Use them at your own risk. I am beyond irritated and I will make sure if I suffer from this that the world knows what they are doing and what kind of scam is ran by Green Dot.

    My check was $540. I paid my car payment which left me $307. I transferred my money to my husband card due to me misplacing my card. Green Dot customer service is now holding my 307 as hostage saying I did not make my car payment but I called auto finance. They did receive their payment. I have been with Green Dot for 4 years. I am so done. If they take your money as hostage I don't want no parts of them anymore. NetSpend here I come.

    I know factually that ADP deposited funds into my account yesterday. I have used this card several times for my direct deposit and until now it works fine. But now I cannot get any kind of answer from anyone at Green Dot after several calls with 15+ minute waits. They just tell me to keep monitoring my balance so I will know when it hits. My question is simply, "Have you received notification of an incoming direct deposit or not?" They don’t know and can only tell me anything after it posts to my account. Well I won’t have any questions after I get my paycheck. Incidentally I opted to use this card because I was supposed to get paid 2 days early. Now I’m at least a day late with no end in sight.

    In or around May 28 2018 I lost my wallet with debit cards and other personal documents. I receive a notification in my phone that my card is been in use for somebody unauthorized more than $900.00. I immediate call customer support and report the card lost and I initiated an investigation dispute. Today’s date June 8 2018 I call customer service to check the status of the dispute and they told me that the dispute has been denied and they can’t give me any reasons that I suppose to get a notice on the mail stating that the dispute is been denied is the only letter I will receive...

    I feel that this bank is not been investigating that dispute and that this bank just denied the dispute on his own without any investigations, when I first call the bank they told that the person who found or have the card in the position attempted numerous times to access the card with wrong PIN numbers. Why this bank do not block the card immediately to prevent it and contact me to confirm. This bank are not complying with the federal regulations neither with the regulations.

    I would like to get immediately any videos of the locations where the money was used and all support documents that proof that they make this investigation the right way. I do not have that card in my possession and I do not authorized this transactions so is impossible that this bank did the right investigation. Please advise any other consumers of this issue...I already advise the Federal Reserve, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, my lawyer and in the process to have an interview with the radio and “Telemundo Responde” Telemundo 52 televisión news.

    I used Green Dot's mobile deposit a couple weeks ago. It took 8 days to process and be available in my account. When asking the representative why it takes so long he told me because it was my first mobile deposit so it takes longer. I then deposited another check and it's once again taking a week to process! Don't use the mobile deposit if you need your money fast 'cause you won't get it for a week!

    So I have been using this Green Dot VIP card for about 6 months now and it is TERRIBLE. It will load my money and I can swipe it at a register, but other than that it DOESN'T WORK ANYWHERE ONLINE!!! I have to use Uber sometimes to get to or from work. It doesn't work with Uber. I try to buy something online. It says my card is and invalid payment option online. I try to transfer money to my friend's account. It doesn't even have an option for that. Other than the direct deposit from my work (which the company says will deposit a day earlier than the paper checks, that's a lie), this is basically a fake debit card that only works at the most low-tech of stores. ** this card, and ** this ** shady ** company.

    I had got the TurboTax prepaid card issued by Green Dot this year for my tax return. After weeks of dealing with the IRS finally I received my much needed income tax return on April 3rd 2018. Within 48 hours of receiving my income tax return my card was hacked and I had roughly $3000 stolen from me. So I contacted my local police department filed a complaint and followed proper procedure to file a dispute for the transactions I did not do with Green Dot. I did this immediately. Here it is June 7 2018 and I sent out my first dispute form back in April and just sent another dispute form about 3 weeks ago since I haven't heard anything from Green Dot.

    I will never use this company again, apparently it's okay to not respond to their customers in a timely manner or just completely ignore them and apparently they do not care when their customers have money that is supposed to be safe on the cards stolen. Why have a card when in the case of something terrible happening you can't even get your money back? I have had a few people tell me that they too had money stolen from them that was on their Green Dot cards to fraudulent activity or their card being stolen or also being hacked and Green Dot denied them their money back. It was confirmed by the police that the transactions I am disputing is not me. But unfortunately they can't identify the person who did it at this time.

    So if you want your money that you work hard for stolen then not replaced go ahead and use Green Dot. If you want your money in safe keeping then I suggest to use another company like MyVanilla, I also have a MyVanilla Card and at the same time that card got hacked too and they investigated and reissued my money back within 10 days of me filing the dispute. But not Green Dot. It's been 2 months now and I am still out of roughly $3000. Green Dot should be shut down with how they treat their customers and how they too steal money from their customers.

    I was hospitalized and when I was released I noticed my home had been broken into and all my personal info and things were stolen. My whole tax refund was spent from my card. Called and filed a claim and got denied. Then I filed again. No. Still no respond. I have a newborn baby and cancer. I’m not able to provide for my kids nor pay my rent or buy my medication because I don’t have the proper funds. I have my lawyer looking into this matter to see what legal actions to take against this scam business. I need my money refunded as soon as possible. It’s never been this hard. Green Dot is the worst and I will not recommend this card to anyone.

    I live in Canada and my family lives in the States. My mother sent me one of the prepaid cards from Green Dot as a way to send me some money as a gift. I activated the card and tried to purchase some items online and was declined. I called the company and could not get an actual human on the other end of the line, but did find out through the robot (who I assume does all their customer service) that it was declined because I had to use this card in person.

    Upon further research, I found out that these cards hardly work outside the US and are locked and declined when people try to use them abroad. This is confusing because on the back of the card, it says there's a 3% foreign transaction fee, yet in super small fine print it says valid for use in the US. For clarification, I went to their website and it said these cards could be used wherever Visa or Mastercard are accepted "worldwide".

    I emailed their customer service (again, because for some reason they won't let you talk to anyone) and they first told me these cards are not gift cards and that they were intended for long-term use. Well that's fine and dandy for what Green Dot was hoping for from their customers, but I (a real-life customer) intended to use this card once. End of story. That shouldn't have even been raised in the email. Unprofessional. They rounded off the email telling me that these cards could be used wherever Visa or Mastercard are accepted in the "US". Which is it, Green Dot? Worldwide? US? Timbuktu? Neverland?

    Between snide remarks in their unprofessional email, they even tried selling their reloadable prepaid cards to me. NO. THANKS. I'm also EXTREMELY frustrated that you cannot contact an actual person by phone. There is no way to contact a customer service rep through their phone service. What kind of company doesn't provide this as a customer service? It all seems too much like a scam.

    It seems hard for me to believe after reading the reviews of this card written by so many others and my own experience that they haven't been accused of any wrongdoing. They are blatantly misleading consumers like my mother into purchasing something that they believe will be a quick and easy way to transfer money, but instead they receive quite the opposite. I usually don't write reviews, but I was so shocked by this company's behavior that I felt compelled to do so.

    I woke up on May 19, 2018 to get money from an ATM I use frequently right near my home. I had just been paid by my employer on the 17th, and I got an insufficient funds error message which immediately told me something was very wrong. When I got home from the ATM and pulled my statement up on RushCardLive.com I find eighteen (18) fraudulent transactions done on May 18, 2018. Somehow, someway, someone was able to make an exact replica of my card as I still have my card in my wallet as I type this. The card does not have a chip, it has a VISA logo and a pin # and somehow these thieves made 9 back to back to back transactions at a TDECU ATM in Katy, TX about 20 miles away from Missouri City, TX where I live, they got the following out of this TDECU ATM in a matter of minutes: $280, $405, $405, $405, $405,$405, $205, $205, $205, and another $205.

    Then they went a short time after that to a Dollar General Store in Houston and bought three (3) Vanilla Visa Gift Cards in the amounts of $504.95, $304.95, and $104.95. The other six (6) transactions totaling the eighteen (18) were $.50 ATM Balance Inquiry Fees at three other random TDECU ATMs (which btw stands for Texas Dow Employees Credit Union). I called RushCard Live immediately the second I found this out on May 19, 2018, and I spoke with 4 people two of which were supposed to be supervisors only to be transferred to an automated message that tells me where I can download a dispute form from their website. This is an utter joke. I had this happen one time at a real bank about 15 years ago and I had a provisional credit on my account immediately the same day I reported the fraud.

    This RushCard Live tried to tell me I had to wait from May 19, to June 1st to file a dispute as I had to wait for the charges to go from a "Pending" status, to a "Posted" status, and then at that point I can file which will be another ten (10) days by federal law they have to investigate once I file. All of this is of course without giving me any provisional credit. I then went the same day May 19th to the Police Department and filed a Police Report and then I went to the Dollar General and asked them to see the footage of these transactions done with my card and there he was, the thief in all his glory, SWIPING a Payment Card which is obviously telling us he duplicated my card and got the pin somehow because again the card he is supposedly using to pay for these gift cards is in my wallet. The same card cannot be in two places at once.

    I was allowed to record the footage by the store manager who has been the nicest person to me in this whole ordeal. I sent this footage to the police department and to the Green Dot Bank. I filed the claim with RushCard Live over the phone on May 19th. I spoke to 6 different people since then, all Filipino, all spoke very poor English and all pretended they did not know what I was talking about. I filed the Police Report on the 19th of May. The Green Dot Bank finally calls me on May 24th only to tell me they will not provide me with any kind of provisional credit as these were pin based transactions less than 15 miles from my home. I explained that clearly this was fraudulent use, I advised I had footage of the suspect swiping a fake card with my details on it at the Dollar General and would send him the info which I did.

    Then after I explain how I am sitting at home with no gas money to put gas in my tank to get to work because this wiped out my entire checking account, money I had saved for my dental work, for my car payment, and my paycheck all of it taken in a manner of apparently minutes, and after all of this and explaining how I literally am not able to feed my children, I literally do NOT have family or friends or people around me that can help. I am completely 100% on my own with my wife and two kids, and four animals waiting for a bank to call me. Finally after what was supposed to be a ten day federal investigation period it took me calling on day 15 only to get an automated message that states "We have an update on your dispute" "It was denied. You will receive a letter explaining why we came to this decision within 7-10 business days." I am SHOCKED!!!! How can this be allowed to happen.

    I have to negotiate something with my landlord to make sure I am not thrown out of my home and on to the streets. I have all of my utility, car, car insurance bills due now, etc. etc. etc. How can footage showing someone literally stealing with my card in their hands and yet somehow they consider this to be not enough proof??? I need help please. Thank you kindly for your time and for listening to my complaint and I apologize upfront for it being so verbose. I tried to keep it short. I have the entire report that I can submit if you need it, I also have the police report and the dispute forms and E-mails sent back and forth to the Bank and Police Dept.

    Green Dot Bank blocked my card on May 2018. I've called this company several times. They keep giving me the runaround regarding the block on my card. I'm not able to pay my daily expense's because my money is this card. Now they had the nerve to tell me that they're going to turn my money over to the state. How in the hell! I'm going to report this company to CFPB and FDIC since they claim they're a bank and my funds are cover under FDIC. Do not get this prepaid card!!!

    Worst customer service. Writing this while I've been on hold for 30 mins, with no update regarding how long it will take. The reoccurring issue I have is that they keep declining purchases without letting me know why. And then I have to call in, and then they have you on hold for longer than 30 minutes. It's insane and infuriating. The only reason I have the ** card is to send money to family members and they make this process extremely painful.

    This card is the worst thing I have ever used. I just got scammed out of 1000$. I bought 2 of these card and wanted to use them to buy something online. I tried to register the cards but it would not let me. It said this card cannot be verified. Please try again later. I called the company. It was a computer taking. I entered my card number and it said I have the money inside but I can’t use this card to buy anything. I would not recommend this card to anyone.

    Avoid this card at all cost. Fees for everything. Horrible customer service. 35 to 60 minutes hold time if you call. They charge you monthly, charge you to add money, the place you add money charges you. They charge you if you do anything. Their app is useless if you are trying to get a refund on a payment sent in error. They do not care about you.

    I have already have Visa Green Dot card and I bought a $300 MoneyPak card for My husband. 6/1/18 he tried to use it and he couldn't so I tried to put it back on my Visa Green Dot. Well it said failed due to Suspicious Activities. Well I called green dot. They said I can go for refund so I tried. They said it will take 3 weeks for my check come in mail. Yesterday 6/3/18 I got a $50 card to load to my visa to use and it failed due to Suspicious Activity. I called and got hung up on 3 times 4 time. One person that was suppose to be in charge gave me a fake reading on my card saying I had 275 dollars on my visa and I knew that wasn't right. I had 7.98 neg so from 300$ that's not right. Phone hung up on me. I called again. It said neg 7.98 on it. They lied. And I hung on the phone. For 1 hour no one helped me. I reported them as a scam. I can't even request refund for my $50 so I am screwed out of $350 plus fees!

I have my receipt and card I bought. I got letters saying not to buy Green Dot No More. I been waiting on my refund. It wants me to send my license proof who I am and my purchase. I don't mind doing that. I have bought 1000$ of dollars in your Green Dot because my husband can't have money. I am not a SCAM or want to be scammed. But I can prove everything cause I keep all my receipt cause of this issue with Green Dot. Thank you.

    I am writing this complaint because I feel very dissatisfied and not supported by the corporation that handles my funds. I attempted to take out $400 from an ATM machine about a month ago. The money never came out of the ATM machine, but was subtracted from my Green Dot account. I contacted Green Dot immediately that evening, and then again after it posted because I was told it needed to post first. I filed a dispute and now a month later, I still have not received my money back. The cardholder agreement states that after 10 days, if they need more time, they will provide a credit to your card so that you will "have the value during the time it takes to complete the investigation". It has been over 10 days, about a month since the incident, and I have not received anything. I have bills and a life to pay for and take care of, and having an amount like $400 taken from my account when I never got the money is just unacceptable.

    To make matters worse, if Green Dot does not give back the money after 10 days then their card holder agreement should not state this. If there are footnotes or incidents which make that statement different than my lawyer says the cardholder agreement should be changed. I have never written a complaint in my life, but this is my money, my life, my bills and it's $400, which is a lot of money. I do understand that everyone has lines they need to follow, but if I am wrong then take the money back. This is absurd to have $400 of my own money held from me due to an ATM machine error. I mean they could ask for the camera from the store or fight harder for their customers. I mean even the tone when I talk to them is truly upsetting, for again, this is a lot of money. I plan to continue to write reviews, make phone calls and have my lawyer address what he can on his end until this situation is rectified.

    I called customer service and spoke to someone about a hold that was placed on my card for hotel stay. The rep told me I had to call the hotel so they could release the funds. So after calling the hotel and being informed they released the funds the morning I left I called Green Dot back and after a 45 minute wait the customer service agent hung up on me, when I called back and finally got through after 30 minutes the rep was rude and uninformed.

    I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on a 15 min hold once again only to be told he is still searching for one... After another 20 minutes he came back on to say that he is unable to find one and that once one was available I would be contacted with a phone call. The rep was rude and condescending. His name was Mark. ID #**. No one ever contacted me and my money still is not available. I've called back and at this point have been on hold another 40 minutes so far. This is the worst customer service I have even dealt with and can only give bad reviews.

    Green Dot is a joke, I have had this card for a while now and it states if you deposit over $1000 there is no monthly fee. Well that's not the case. They charge me every month, and will not reimburse me. Says they can't, charge for atm, I get charged their fee and the atm fee. It's B.S. Will close this account and will not open another one.

    Well I was booking a flight to Vegas and a alert popped up in my email. They ask me to send in a photo of my license in which I did. The site stated it received it and now Green Dot saying they couldn't read it clearly. Which I know it was clear as possible.     About 2 weeks ago I upgraded to a VIP card... The card split in half a little more than halfway already to the point where you can see how the 2 cards were “sealed” into one card. The first day I used it the clear film on the front started peeling off. It's very flimsy compared to the basic card I have been using since 2013. That's some top of the line V.I.P status. Then the support specialist told me in order to get a new card means I have to take all the money off of this one and wait 10 days at max to receive my new card. TF. I don't have time to go ATM to ATM to withdraw money when I already said I have my old card which doesn’t expire until 2019 so I can use that instead. But to make all that bs more appealing... They said the new VIP card would be free of charge. Lol smfh. How about make the VIP card more sturdy instead of sticking them together with a melted crayon.

    Green Dot, like many credit card issuers, monitors its customers’ accounts for fraud. If it suspects fraudulent activity, it will block your account, notify you, and give you a chance to determine whether the transactions at issue are valid. What a false and misleading statement, based on all of the reviews I have read about blocked accounts. You are never notified before they block it, based on reviews, and my personal experience. And then you go through hoops trying to get it unblocked while Green Dot gets interest off it and you can't pay your bills. I like all the rest, contacted the number on the credit card, only to not have an option for blocked cards.

    So after going through most all options available, I finally spoke with a representative who very quickly gave me the email address to send my driver's license to, which later I found out, through another representative after waiting another hour on the phone on-hold waiting for a representative to take my call. So here we go again, I emailed my driver's license with my case number. So I waited two days, because that was the time span before lifting your block and called back. Waited another hour to speak with a person, because I told her that I was getting a direct deposit coming in and would it be blocked. She assured me yes. So before able to make arrangements to get a check instead of direct deposit, my direct deposit mysteriously was accepted and my card is still unusable.

    As many others, I am not in a financial position for my card to be blocked for one day, but certainly not for a week, maybe longer, who knows, because now I get to call again and wait an hour on hold while not being able to pay my rents and other late fees adding up, because I can't pay the smaller bills either. So I expect to be compensated for my damages when the block is lifted because no one can afford or has the time to play these games while Green Dot absorbs the interest off the accounts.

    I moved across town in December 2017. If I use my new address to buy a Green Dot card, I find I can only use the cash balance and in person. I bought this recent one to pay a little on the electric bill. Buffalo has no National Grid offices. You take the money, you take the $7.95 fee, and for my balance I can only go to a store. It's nuts. You verify my SS number, ask me the same security questions I have always had... But move 2 miles away... Green Dot is like, "Screw You! We don't know you!" I want to use the balance on the internet.

    Wednesday 5/23/2018 a block was placed on my account without notice shortly after receiving my federal tax return of $5540.44. There was no unusual transactions, I did not exceed my daily spending limit and the only other activity was transferring $3000.00 into my online vault account which left my available balance at $1286.35 So my total account balance including vault is $4286.35. I called after being declined at the store for a purchase for some much needed clothes for my son and was headed to the grocery store when I found out a block was placed stating I needed my Identity to be verified by uploading my driver's license.

    I uploaded it twice only to call and have the automated system tell me my account with all my money $4286.35 was closed and I could no longer have any account with Green Dot and no option to even talk to a live person. I was able to log in on the web to view my transaction history that showed everything including my vault balance of $3,000.00 I transferred. In my search of a way to talk to a live person I logged back into my account to view my transaction history and it then showed my vault balance was $0 and my avail balance as $1286.35!! It still shows my transfer into the vault but the $3,000 is missing so I began to look up stuff on fraud regarding Green Dot and finally found a number to your fraud department.

    I spoke with a woman who stated she could still see the total balance of $4286.35 but I just couldn’t see it and she would update it to show for me. She stated that the block was placed for security reasons but couldn’t explain what they were or why it was placed when I didn’t exceed my limit or have unusual activity. I explained how I can’t even feed my child until I have access to MY MONEY. She then transferred me to Green Dot corporate resolution center where after an hour of holding I spoke with Cortez who told me I had to do a manual upload through email and it would take up to two business days before the block was lifted. That was on 5/24/2018 at 1:00pm.

    I called back on the 25th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st (today) and was now told that a review ticket was just created yesterday and it would be another 1-2 business days. WTH it’s been 8 days since Green Dot stole $4,286.35. All of this is completely unacceptable to me, I have talked to Cortez, Fred, Patty and a few more and explained my situation to all and keep getting the response that they will put in an request for an update, yet my identity still hasn’t been verified after 4 business days and numerous calls all of which I sat on hold for an hour waiting to speak to someone each and every time.

    - They let someone steal my state return
    - said to me that they don't have any guarantee about my money... If someone stole it I should just go report to cops...

    - didn't verify my own... But someone else got verified for my new card and my state tax...

    On top of that of that blocked me forever when my federal return deposited $9,571... Oh they won’t let you take the money out or transfer it to another account either no... They will in 3 to 5 business days release it back to government... Then our government will cut a check and send it to my old address where I no longer live which will take a week or two which means I gotta wait for the mailman there every day... Otherwise that will get stolen too thanks to Green Dot... I work with customers and banks all day and their customer service is a joke...

    This corporation has the absolute worst customer care, service I have ever seen in my life. Bank supposed to be safe right? They aren't safe because let's say someone steals your mail? They can easily put a pin on a card and steal your money... Because their verification system is as dumb as the company they are... I was in jail for 3 months and when I got out I called and reported the card so they blocked the card and told me to dispute and wait 10 days. Then they sent a new card. Till here everything is normal. Then they said dismissed dispute NO FRAUD FOUND... so card coming in my mail after I get incarcerated someone playing a pin on it and spending it while I was in jail is not a fraud to them.

    Then they told me to verify myself so I sent ID from their online website so then they block me saying my ID couldn't verify me and told me I can never open a card with them again and now my federal tax loaded into my account $9,500 and now they're saying that they can't open my account so now they're going to send it back and I'm going to wait for a check. I just going to my old address where I don't live anymore so that will probably get stolen because of them too. So it's not bad enough that they got my money stolen not enough that they cancel the dispute. They blocked me from my money.

    If all the business executives the owners of the staff sit down together and ask each other how is the worst way to handle their ** up this is probably the worst way to handle something so simple... but no because they're a bank have a branch but they also don't have to ask that you can call so you can't do personal and Kings. You can't do phone banking and all mine if they read you got to go through Facebook to get to anyone and then maybe they will give you a call back for a voice that you can tell doesn’t give a ** about what you're going thru... Here is their new commercial "Green Dot Prepaid Card. At Green Dot we’ll let people take your money then ask you for verification and then block you from your own card... Do you have $10,000 deposited?

    “Who cares **... Oh btw we don’t have a branch. We also don't bank over phone... We just don’t bank. We are a bunch of tools where our mission is to make your life a Green Dot harder because ** is our motto...” All they have to do is literally just unblock me and I have 10,000$ and maybe say sorry for letting my money get used by someone else... But no they just can not unblock me for their own mistake... Now I’m gonna post this to every place and day I can...

    I decided to file my income tax return with the online service named TurboTax, as I have in the past several years. Only this year the biggest scam going is they will provide you with a debit card (Green Dot services) and your refund will be put on the card. This is how I became a victim of fraud, less than one week almost half of my federal return was stolen off my card electronically somehow... on two separate dates, with the same merchant for every fraudulent transaction involved. Approximately $1000.00 has been stolen. I have made numerous phone calls, emails, and have even provided the agency with dates and the various PROOF that I had access to. Green Dot customer service? It doesn't exist, and asking to speak to a manager? For some reason I was refused repeatedly. This has been going on since the beginning of March and I am still trying to get back what was stolen from me.

    Green Dot was nice enough after the third call in to replace the compromised card however, a fee of $5.00 was applied to the new card! For the activation fee? I wouldn't NEED a new card if the first one was secured!! In addition a $2.50 fee was charged for each fraudulent transactions as well as GREEN DOT'S fee of $2.50! ($5.00 charged for every fraudulent transaction!!!) Not only was almost $1000.00 stolen from me, I had to pay the total of $55.00 for those transactions!! I have decided enough is enough, legally Green Dot needs to reimburse the victims or charges should be pressed. This is the newest scam going, and GREEN DOT AND TURBOTAX should be prosecuted and out of business! One would think the agency would be covered for fraud, however each associate I have pleaded with acts like it's their personal money! Well it's not! It was MY FEDERAL Income Tax Return, and I deserve what was stolen from me.

    I have had a Green Dot card for years and have had my tax return placed on my Green Dot card for all those years and never had a problem. I have also never filed a claim before. I attempted to file a claim for fraud because someone had had unauthorized use of my card. After it had been lost I filed a police report. I tried to contact Green Dot and was unsuccessful due to a poorly regulated automated system. If you obtain more than one Green Dot card then you are required to enter the last 4 digits of that card. When you call you have three opportunities to do so and the automated system hangs up on you. I was unable to stop usage on my card yet my text update showed my account balance dwindling. Once filed through the corporate office finally it took 45 days for them to deny the claim that they allowed the usage to pile up on taking a huge chunk of my tax return. I will never use Green Dot again and I advise no one else too.

    I'm new to Green Dot and I'm totally disgusted. I use the card to pay bills & online purchases ONLY... to AVOID FRAUD & keep my REAL bank info confidential. Well I allowed a one time direct deposit to come in from the Government (survivors benefit) and these crooks decides I need to send them my identification via email to get the hold released on my account. To make a long story short, I sent info requested and I still don't have my money. They are going to pay for giving ME this runaround and you can too. I filed a grievance with the US Treasury Dept. And they are going to stop all business with Green Dot due to so many complaints.

    I am also filed a lawsuit and was told by my attorney that there is already a class action suit in the works because Green Dot was reported to be involved in the 2017 data breach. Please help me SHUT GREEN DOT'S DOOR & BANKRUPT THEM. There is a petition in place. They just need so many signatures for GREEN DOT to be GREEN GONE... Green Dot gets absolutely no stars. They are so negative they already dug their hole 6 ft in the dirt. I promise in a couple months or so GREEN DOT WILL BE DEAD.

    In 2011 I opened a Green Dot account and I had it up until 2014. I never had any issues with it while I had the card. It always works for me and it was great. This year of April 2018 I had received a refund for some purchases that I made via merchant in 2012 because of a class action suit. Unfortunately the merchant returned the money to the method of payment that I use in 2012 which was my Green Dot prepaid card. Green Dot had accepted the refund on their end. The merchant actually had showed me proof of that but she's claiming that they never received it.

    The merchant was actually able to show me and give me viable documents that they actually did return it to them and that they accepted it upon further review. I actually seen that there were a lot of reports of Green Dot taking people's money. If I could review this and give it to zero stars I would. I highly recommend that no one uses the service because they are stealing people's money. I actually had to report them to the Better Business Bureau and am waiting to hear back from them as well as possibly get involved in a class action suit against them.

    I have been with Green Dot for about 4 yrs. Had a gas station put a hold on my card for $125.50 (I only pumped 30.68). I was already upset that there was a such a large hold, which was told that Green Dot chose the amount of the hold. The gas station took the hold off on May 21st. Was told by Green Dot that my money would not be credited back until May 28th. That is ridiculous!!! I am a single mom of three kids and that is all the money I have until I get paid again and I have to wait over a week for MY MONEY all because I used my card at the gas pump. Customer service did not help me, said they didn't have a manager available and did not have a phone number for corporate. I do not recommend this service anymore!!!

    I would not recommend Green Dot service to anyone. Every time I deal with them I take a loss. And everybody I know that’s dealt with them says the same. I recently loaded money to my card, now I had no access to my own money. I can’t swipe the card, use ATM or even online usage.     I've been a Green Dot acct member for 3 yrs now. First 2 years no complaints. However since January my acct has been hacked 3 times since January. 1st hack I recovered my funds in 2 weeks. But on May 1st the 2nd hack some young guy used a card with my bank information to go shopping at a mall in Downey CA. I live in Rochester MN. $168.11 was spent leaving 94 cents in my account. May 2nd am I notified the bank of what happened.

    They (call center in Philippines) canceled my card and started reclaim process. Shipped me new card. Arrived on May 7th. I still haven't been refunded the 168.11 yet. On May 14th someone in Morena CA tried using a Card with my new card info and took the .94 that was left in my acct. That's 2 hacks in 2 weeks. My card doesn't have a chip in it. The 2 phony cards did. I spoke with each store manager and got details on hacker's purchases. As of today I've still not been refunded any funds to my acct. I'm mystified how fast these cards are made. If there's a law enforcement investigation going on, I can provide precise details on purchases.

    I recently had around $2200 stolen from me. Someone copied or cloned my card and used it in South Florida while I am in North Florida. Any normal human being can see someone is using my card while I am as well. I have dozens of witnesses to prove I never left Jacksonville. Also in your statement it says I may not withdrawal more than $400 in a single day. Someone did this without my consent. I was never asked for my consent from Green Dot. I would love to know what kind of investigation Green Dot actually does. But I do have lawyers looking into it as well.

    I recently saw unusual charges on my card from Alabama, Pennsylvania, and many from California. They were still pending at this time when I saw them when I reported them to the service center at their call center. They said they could not do anything until the charges posted. This was over $235 at the time. I could not deal with the call center because you can barely speak English and they have no compassion for the consumer. They are rigid and follow the script given to them and will put incorrect information in the system. I ask them to hold on the phone while I was at the teller machine to make sure I could still get the remaining cash out. The gentleman hung up and said I refused to report the account compromised and cancel the card. I asked him not to cancel the card until after I made the transactions. This is why I wanted him on the phone.

    I called by again and got a female. She explained to me I would have to pay for a card. I told her I would not pay. She told me it would take up to 7 days to receive the card. She told me if I wanted the card faster it would cost extra. I told her I would not pay extra and it should be to me in a couple of days or even overnight. She said they did not do that. I told her I wanted the card by the end of the week. This was on a Tuesday. She said the card would not come until Monday. I told her to send the card and it should be to me by Friday. Monday came and no card. I called in and talked to another representative who was less than helpful and she told me I had refused the card twice by two representatives. I tried to explain to her I told the representatives I wanted the card sent to me right away and my account reported compromised which neither one had done and more charges were made.

    I finally ask for a supervisor. She filed the dispute and sent me a card and I received it on Thursday. I had to send in a dispute form. I know have to wait another until May 28th to get my money back. When I ask the representatives if my money if I will get it back they do not give me a answer at all. This leads me to believe I have lost my money to their neglect. I reported these charges before they posted and they could have been stopped. The ones from Alabama and Pennsylvania did not go through. It was just the ones for California. This makes me feel like it might be a inside job by employees of the call center who handles posting the numbers of the accounts. All were made near the city the card company.

    I only want my money. This has prevented me from paying two bills and now I will have late charges on accounts because of Green Dot Corporation. Do you think they will take care of the stress of the calls from these companies wanting their payments and the extra money. I also have to pay an extra $25 on top of the late charge because the card was declined because it was closed. I just need answers right away.

    Green Dot gets to hold money for 1 to 60 day? That 1 to 60 is a lie. It took them the whole 60 days to release my money to my card. Please stop lying to the customers. And why do Green Dot get to hold money for 60 days? I really needed that money and Green Dot showed no compassion for my situation. And what makes me so mad is I was to 1 to 60 days and it took the whole 60 days. I asked a day before the 60 day if I can get my money and was told, "No. It take 1 to 60 days." Well it's been 59 day and you mean to tell me I still can't get my money? I feel like Green Dot was using my money for the 60 day. That's why they had no reason why they were holding my money and can't override the system to release my money. 1 to 60 day is BS.

    I recently opened a new Green Dot card and a few weeks later I returned a laptop I had purchased at Wal-Mart. I no longer have an account open with the debit card it was originally purchased with so the lady at Walmart said she could refund it to any debit card I use. Immediately after the $334 was credited to my card Green Dot put a block on my account requesting copies of the original transaction receipt and the refund slip. I submitted these 7 times before they confirmed receipt of them a week and a half later. 4 days later I've heard nothing so I call and now the automated system tells me my card has been closed and hangs up on me... I had a friend dial in their Green Dot info so I could finally get through to a live person... They tell me I need to speak to a supervisor or corporate manager... I've waited on hold twice this morning for over 45 minutes and I just keep getting the runaround. WHERE IS MY MONEY??? I NEED TO FEED MY FAMILY.

    My experience is similar to Doris of Rockford, IL. I am EXTREMELY PISSED!!! On May 4, I called to check the balance on my card only to discover the card had been compromised. Customer Service was called immediately. I was given a claim number and told to complete a transaction dispute. I followed the instructions as requested and submitted the claim via email. The first transaction dispute totaled $589.00 all of which the culprit stole. As if this was not enough, Green Dot sent me a new card and within 10 days the same thing happened AGAIN. This time the culprit took $304.00. Bringing the grand total to $893.00. This is a LOT OF MONEY!!! Of which, puts a strain on my budget.

    Today, I was notified that Green Dot denied the first transaction dispute. And, I suspect they will deny the second. I know they have not did an investigation because I provided them with a detailed email itemizing the authorized charges. In addition, I told them I was in San Diego when these charges were made. I even have the flight departure to prove it. Nonetheless, claim denied. I am going to contact the CEO of Walmart and Green Dot. In fact, I have contacted the Walmart Customer Spark and they gave me a phone number to call so this could be escalated. This service will be exercised.

    Note: Walmart needs to be contacted because they endorse the card. In addition, I will be contacting my local news Consumer Advocate. I will continue to SCREAM about my money until I get it all back. Sorry, Green Dot. I am not a thief and for you to deny my claim, a loyal customer for years, is an insult. Granted, your debit card was great for travels and online shopping. But NEVER AGAIN! I feel totally robbed by Green Dot more so than the criminal. Once my money is restored, I WILL NOT use this card again. This is SAD because I really liked the convenience. I will be reviewing new card once the "Submit review" button is clicked.     These people are so rude. For 1 they Do not care how secure your account is and when they took off 2000 bucks off my card and right after the dispute before they solved the investigation my card was taken. And I called right away for a new card and to inform them to not refund money to the old card and they still didn't listened and put it on the list card. I showed proof when doing the dispute and they found everything was accurate and like I said they still put it on the card I reported lost and informed them about... now that they mess up and the thief who stole my card has my money they still deny my dispute when it was all Green Dot's fault.

    I have all the proof I need and I will be taking this to a small court... I have kids to take care of and Green Dot keep giving me problems... do not get Green Dot.     I have been a customer for years. In the last year my card has been hacked countless times. On May 12th, 2018 it happened again. I reported it and was told a new card would be mailed. I sent in a dispute form as well to recover stolen money. I called days later to find out when card was mailed. They claimed the very day I reported it stolen (Saturday) and I would receive it in May 22. I told them in the past I always received it in 3 days. Customer Service said... "Oh, you should have requested expedited service." They told me the numerous other reps must have chosen expedited service for me without asking me. So... I have had two paychecks direct deposited to my acct since waiting and I cannot access.

    Bills due, unable to buy groceries, gas for work, medicine, etc. This has created such a hardship on me. Why? Why can't customers who are victims of theft at least go to the Money Center and purchase a card there, call and have money transferred... or at least be able to write a check to withdraw funds? I don't think Walmart MoneyCard is safe anymore and insensitive to the victims of theft. All I've heard from customer service is the rights of the thief. Also... merchants should be ID'ing people. In my case the merchant admitted they didn't ID. Meanwhile my life is falling apart waiting on this card. Unbelievable.

    Order a Green Dot card as my brothers and sisters have one and they used it for their tax returns. I ordered the card, got it in the mail and activated it and set it to the side until my federal return came. 2 hours after I received my federal deposit they blocked the account for fraud and had me to send in my ID. For whatever reason my ID was not to their standards and in less than 30 minutes closed my account. This is completely understandable as companies have the right to chose who they will work with. But this is where my issues comes in at. After you close the account why would it take you 45 calendar days to return the funds.

    My situation may be a little different but I am pretty sure many can relate. I filed with TurboTax and paid fees through Santa Barbara Tax Products Group (from what I hear is actually a Green Dot company). So I then called them and explained that they closed my account and sent my funds back to the IRS. They instantly told me that they would send them back to Santa Barbara.

    I am not waiting 45 days especially after reading these post some people have been waiting over 2 months. I have already called the Alderman, made an complaint to the Better Business Bureau. My next steps are to get my lawyer involved and to file a police report as this amount is over $5000.00. I am doing further research to determine if the police report is possible but from what I hear it may be more civil. Either way I am about to take every step possible to secure myself and my funds. Green Dot is highly used across the county and you could think that your company would have better processes than this. In addition your customer service is horrible. When people are having issues you make it hard for them to get to a rep and then once they do neither the representative nor a supervisor or account specialist can help or provide accurate information. Once she told me she did not where my funds were going, "I could not talk any longer."

    Been a card holder for 5 years. Loved it. Then my card got hacked last week, I canceled the card and got another. Cost me $18 for new card plus the money that was hacked. Then I have new card, three days and it's also hacked. And they told me I have to wait till the money is paid (posted) and I'll have to contact the merchants and ask for a refund myself and also I have to mail a letter for transaction dispute, I just got off the phone telling them my dispute! Customer service is not helpful at all.

    I elected to receive my tax return on the purposed Turbo Prepaid Card thru Green Dot back in February 2018. As soon as I receive my return I noticed that some fraud activity was taking place. $600 in $200 increments was being taking by American Express/Bluebird. I immediately call customer care service and informed them. Even though it just had happened I was told I had to wait 2 weeks until it's posted on the account to be able to open a dispute on the case. In 2 weeks I open the dispute, I was told it'll take no longer than 2 weeks to complete the investigation (today is 5/16/18) and I haven't received any money. Around late March of 2018 after no emails or call from Turbo Prepaid Card thru Green Dot services, I contacted customer service for the hundredth time and was told my dispute was denied.

    The reason it was denied because of their dispute team couldn't get in contact with the merchant (American Express, a major company) and basically my money was gone. I was told they call twice and couldn't talk to someone so they denied me. So much for having a dispute center. I then open another dispute for the same case and after 70 days of calling and checking up on the case I receive a letter from Green Dot saying the merchant granted me my funds back on 4/12/18. I went online and check as I usually do and seen that it was refunded and taken off the same day by Turbo Prepaid Card reversal service. Now no one has any answers. I've been instructed numerous times to wait one more day or someone will be calling you with an answer. Nothing. Worst experience ever.

    MoneyPak website was down when I tried to load my funds on the card my dad sent me. So when the system came back up I tried to load my cash again and it gives me the error message of I have tried retrieving my funds the maximal amount of times. First of all how can you tell me I have tried to get my money too many times? That’s my cash and as long as you have it I’ll try receiving my funds. I know you guys. Better release my funds before I get a lawyer. This is absolutely the worst business I’ve ever dealt with. If I could give you 0 stars I would.

    I had my wallet stolen out of my car with the tax card Green Dot sent me. Called to have the card cut off and have them send me a new one. Well 10 days went by and never received card. Called them and found out they never put a hold on the card and it had 5500$ on it. It's been a horrible mess and they do nothing to make it right. I just called again just to find out they dropped the ball for the 3rd time. I won't get into detail but if the right person reads this please call me **. I am just before going and spending my last few hundreds on a lawyer. I had convos recorded and these people are a joke. Would not recommend dealing with these people. Get a real bank account instead!
