    My best friend is recently blind and has been using Green Dot Bank. He called customer service to get a replacement card since his broke on half. Customer service rep said repeatedly she was going to send his new card to his old address and said he would receive the new card in 3 days. We have been trying daily to talk to a person but he keeps getting blocked. His medical and other bills are piling up and no matter what info we enter requested by the prompt we can’t verify it’s been sent at all or to the right address. Called the corporate office in California and we can’t reach a person. Terrible customer service.

    I have done a mobile deposit on 9/25/18. The funds usually are available within an hour to 1 business day. Now all of a sudden it's going to take until the 10/3/18 for me to get access to my own money. They're holding it hostage. They will not cancel the transaction nor will they call the bank who issued the check to verify it. Now every time I call they hang up on me. Worst customer service ever. Rude inconsiderate people who don't care. I literally have .87 in my account and because these people dont want to do some work now me and my kids are going hungry because they want to mess around with my money. I will be closing my account once I get my money and telling everyone on all social media to NOT try Green Dot and that they could care less about their customers.

    I have been with this company for a few years. They have the worst customer service. They never have resolutions and charge a 7.95 fee for nothing. I get my direct deposit on this card, I do not have any issues with that. However, just today Sept. 26, 2018 I had a purchase blocked for Robux. I used the card to purchase Robux for my granddaughter yesterday and today my grandson wanted Robux. These are purchase for the Roblox App. So when I went to purchase the Robux. The purchase was declined. I checked my balance and had more than enough to cover. So I called Green Dot, I explained I made a similar purchase the other day. I was told that because, I wasn't aware of this, Roblox is out of the US that my transactions are blocked for my protection.

    I told her I appreciated that but, "I am talking to you on the phone so no need to protect me." I was informed there was nothing they can do and suggested I use another card. I was irate, I have a prepaid card so I can purchase things from the play store or online. This is a prepaid card, that is the reason to get a prepaid card so there are no restrictions. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told there was no one else I could talk to. I am in the process of changing my direct deposit and canceling this card that does nothing but takes fees. It cost to keep the card, it cost to load the card, it even cost to use the ATM. Listen, if you are considering this card, don't. The customer service is terrible and their rules for using the card are even worse.

    There is a $627.07 transaction that no one knows where it went. It disappeared. All they say is that they don't know what happened and can't help me. They looked into it twice and have nothing to tell me.

    I had a fraudulent charge on my debit card to the tune of $91.00. This does not seem like a lot, except that it was my entire grocery budget. I am a widowed mother of two, and I don't have very much income. I contacted Green Dot immediately and was told that I could not even dispute the charges until it posted. Fine, whatever. I waited several days for the charges to post before I could file a dispute. In the meantime, I contacted the merchant that had charged my card, they flagged the account that had used it for fraud and told me to file a dispute with my credit card company. This was 100% fraud - I do not know these people, never heard of this company... Someone stole my information. Open/Shut.

    So I call to file a dispute with Green Dot and it is at this time that they tell me that a dispute can take 10 OR MORE business days to resolve. Fricking what? I have no (zero!) money. I have no way to get more money, and I have two small children who need to eat. The service representative's solution? Borrow money from a friend. If I had people in my life who could lend me money, I wouldn't be freaking out over $91... This is money I earned and entrusted to this company to hold for me. It would have been safer in a mattress.

    I filed the dispute - because what else can I do? But I keep getting messages to fill out a dispute form "Which is available on our website" - except, no it isn't. There is NO dispute form on the Green Dot Website (Zero - None - Nada - Zip - Zilch). Every time you click on the link, it takes you back to the FAQ page. NOT HELPFUL. So I called - Again - and was told over the phone that I do not need the dispute form, because I already filed the dispute. I asked again how long before a resolution - this time I am told 2-3 weeks. WHAT??? Not acceptable.

    In the meantime, I have been feeding my kids from the Dollar store - I haven't had a full meal in a week. Thank God my kids get free lunch at school... but for dinner I have been having to feed them ramen noodles every night to make my few pennies I do have stretch until I get paid again - probably before this is resolved. I have spent several hungry nights crying myself to sleep because I cannot get assistance from my own card company, and I have no idea what I am going to feed my kids tomorrow. At one point they offered me a $20 credit - wonderful - I bought $13 worth of food and $7 worth of gas... which I am now out of again.

    When I call I am Angry -- of course I am. I am desperate and no one seems to want to help me. Agents barely speak English - and being told "we are sorry for the inconvenience" seventeen times in one call is enough to drive anyone batty. I had to forcefully tell the rep that I did not want to hear that phrase again. This is so much more than a minor inconvenience. This is my life. My kids DO NOT HAVE FOOD. Not because I don't work - I do - they don't have food because someone stole my money from my card -- I have evidence that it was fraud -- but Green Dot seems content to let us twist in the wind. NOT AN INCONVENIENCE - VERY MUCH A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH FOR ME. No one seems to care.

    Today I got to work, logged in and found that on 9/21 -- without any kind of contact to me - a credit was issued for $91 and then IMMEDIATELY REVERSED. So - you credit me then reverse the credit -- WHY??? And again - there is a message stating that I need to send in a dispute form. THERE IS NO DISPUTE FORM!!! I have been reaching out on Facebook, through the customer service line and via email - no one wants to refund my $91.This is ridiculous. I am consulting with my state's attorney general. I am so over this ANY OTHER BANK/PREPAID CARD has a fraud resolution process. Green Dot apparently does not care at all. NOT AT ALL. Yes I am angry -- going more than 10 days without a solid meal will do that to you.

    I was told I still had money on my 2 MoneyPak cards by more than one staff member. I sent my information to the email they provided and told that it would take 5 days to review. Then they said I needed to send my information to another email and wait another 5 days. Of course I was told someone would contact me via phone, but since no one ever did I called almost everyday. Then I called yesterday (9-25-2018) and I was told I would be receiving my refund in the mail and that it would take 2-3 weeks. Now today I was sent an email saying Green Dot will not give me my money. What kind of customer services is this? That's $1000.00 that you're keeping that is not your money!

    I wrote a review about a month and a half ago stating that my account was closed due to Unusual deposit activity. Which is a bunch of BS. I have 738$ in there that I can’t touch. My employer is trying to pull the money back out so they can give it to me and they even had to fill out a indemnification form to get them to release it back and they are still dragging their feet. This is downright stealing. And all Green Dot ever does on this website is say that they will contact you via info on this website which is another lie. Why can’t the government shut these people down? They have no accountability and are stealing our hard earned money and you can’t even call anyone.

    I purchased a MoneyCard from Walmart and loaded it with 300. I went to register the card and was told that it was already registered. Walmart refuses to help or refund my money and Green Dot says it’s investigating. Here it is 3 days later. I’m out 300 dollars. I cannot afford to lose and the bill I was supposed to pay are now hounding me for payment. It’s impossible to get anyone to talk to, the whole process is automated. Stay clear. Beware.

    I reported fraud from a site. They shut my card off, made me wait 10 business day to tell them the replacement never came. I have to pay for an express card and they make you send all your information in the mail to them to open a claim to get my money back!

    So, last week I thought I lost my debit card (later found it under the seat of my car) and reported it lost. They processed a lost card (at a $4.95 fee to me) and mailed it to me. During my week-long wait for the new card, I called their customer service to ask when it was shipped and when I might expect to see it. They told me no later than a specific day, so I told the woman thank you and hung up. I received the replacement card a couple of days later. However, when I went to use said card, it was declined. So, I called Green Dot customer support, and found that the card was no longer active. I eventually got in touch with someone who explained to me, in VERY broken English, that whoever it was I had spoken to a couple of days prior, had ordered ANOTHER replacement card.

    After being put on hold for nearly 20 minutes, I FINALLY got to speak with a woman who claimed to be an accounts manager (again in VERY broken English). She told me that the new card had been expedited through FedEx. At this point, I had to get off of the phone and go into work. Yesterday, I called Green Dot again to get a tracking number for the shipment through FedEx and was told that they do not have the capability of looking up that information. So, I called FedEx, where I was told that no package was showing up in their system for my home address, which is the address on file at Green Dot. So now, here I sit on hold with Green Dot for a total of 32 minutes as of the writing of this review. Stay away from this company if at all possible. If you can, go to a physical bank or Credit Union. I have been with Green Dot for 10+ years now, and for about the first 7 it was great, but in the last 3 years it has been horrifically sub par service.

    I bought this card to pay a bill. I could not activate it. When I did it sent me another card number to use. They said that balance was 0. She said the money was on the original card and had to verify. I could not because the cap he verification process was black. And then I had to try again in 24 hours.

    My account was frozen one day out of the blue when I received a large student refund check. I called in immediately to find out exactly what was going on. I was told by a representative that the deposit was not in my name, that it was in my fiance and we would need to send in the necessary documents for them to review. We sent it in documents and they assured us that they had received it and processing time for the review was 2 business days. I called in the next day to find out, they restricted incoming calls from me for the next 48 hrs. After the 48 hrs, I finally spoke with someone and they told me they were still waiting on me to send in those necessary documents, I explained to the representative that I had already sent them in but I would resend them, she then told me it would be 5 business days for them to process it. It's been 2 weeks and my account still is frozen but that is not stopping Green Dot from charging the 9.95 monthly fee.

    Green Dot has had my card locked up for 6 months due to a refund transaction by Food City Corporation of America an outstanding company. They refunded the money to my card and I had to send them a receipt. The receipt was $600 dollars long and as we all know from a grocery store that is pretty long. You could not see it all in one picture. So I cut the receipt into picture size pieces and took pictures of them and sent to Green Dot. They still will not refund my money and they won't give the money back to Food City. They are just trying to keep my money.

    We need to all contact the Better Business Bureau because they cannot just keep our money and not give it back to Food City or me. Everyone please go online and fill out a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. We are stronger together. Let's come together against this crooked company and we may all succeed. One person alone against a big Corporation is almost impossible so let's stand together.

    I had a merchant to continue to add charges to my account after I requested a refund and for 2 consecutive days they charged my card 5 times. I had the clerk arrested for fraudulent use of my cc and GD Bank is refusing to refund my money. Every time I call they tell me to just wait and see while they decide. I have provided the dispute form and police report but the dispute process has been a nightmare. They are literally extending the dispute. Every time I call they say, "Oh 10 day. Oh 10 more days." I WANT MY MONEY!!!

    My husband re-loaded the pre-paid card with $600.00 in cash. He did pay the $3.00 extra loading fee. When he got home and went to use the card online and DECLINED. When he called the 1-866 number of course it goes to an OUTSOURCE company with people who do not speak good English. When ask to be transferred to USA was told lines were busy. LOL. Busy lines. You bet.

    Long story short the card is no longer activated ."How did MY HUSBAND put money on it" if it was an inactive card? The non English speaking person could only say "Sorry sir"... and then come to find out charged us 28.00 for service charges on the INACTIVE CARD for NOT USING IT. You can't make this stuff up. This is exactly what has happen. WELL we can't get our money because the card is Not active and we can't transfer it to another card because it's NOT ACTIVE. My husband has left to go to WALMART to see if they can help, if not he going to the SHERIFF'S department to report the SCAM.

    Please PLEASE do not use these people. Their ad talks about having your paycheck go to direct deposit with them. FOR GOD-SAKE don't do this. Stay as far from these crooks as you can get. There are plenty of good and honest Pre-paid cards. Don't do business with RIP OFF SCAM SCUM COMPANIES such as GREEN DOT CARD. I hope this will help someone who possible researches out a company before they use them... WE sure should have.

    Green Dot secured credit cards are a scam. They get you signed up, but you have no access to customer service. They make it so difficult to contact anyone to advise, help or guide you through their system and set up. They will screw your credit up not help it. Watch out. Get a card from a real reputable company, with real customer service. We have been dealing with them for over 3 months now, and still getting the runaround.

    I put $300 on a secured card, set it up to auto pay my cell phone bill monthly, at $120 a month, but after setting things up for auto payment, emailing the banking statements they still screwed my payment up, missed a payment due to their issues and lack of proper business ethics, and caused my score to lower by points due to a missed payment, in which I had set and properly applied the right banking. They have again restricted and blocked my card. They have no customer service rep and you are left hanging with no resolution to resolve the issue. Left to hang out and dry. Worst credit card company you could apply to for a secured card. FOUL BUSINESS. Crooked company. Watch out! Forewarned.

    Several weeks ago I purchased a $160 Green Dot MoneyPak to load a Green Dot prepaid debit card. I was told they were having a problem with their server and it could take up to an hour. I still haven't gotten my money. After numerous calls and total runaround, I spoke with an individual who called himself Michael. He informed me that I had been scammed. When I questioned him, he hung up. I called back and got the same guy. I asked why he hung up on me and he called me a foul name and hung up again.

    I called back the following Monday and spoke with someone who identified himself as John. When I explained what had happened with Michael, he said, "Yeah, that was me." I asked again about my money and he told me that someone who worked there stole my money. I said, "Well then you need to refund me." He replied, "We don't give refunds." I said, "You have a website that's for Green Dot refunds" and he replied, "Yeah, that's a lie." I said, "Well. I'll just contact the FDIC" and he, "Okay, tell 'em I said hi." What the hell kinda company is this and how the hell are they in business?!?

    My friend gave me a $50 MoneyPak. When I loaded it it said it had already been used so he reported it to MoneyPak... The next day I get an email saying $50 was loaded on my card so my friend emailed them and let them know what happened. Green Dot locked my card up and told me to send them a copy of the Green Dot card and receipt which I did... Now I haven't heard anything from them. I can't talk to them nor do they return an email. I still have $210 on my card. I need my money... And they told my friend that no fraud was committed so they could not replace the $50 but they took it off my card.

    My husband and I have been getting our paychecks in this Green Dot account and all of a sudden today they put a hold on my account. I have REPEATEDLY asked them to remove the block because my son is in the hospital and his bills are VERY EXPENSIVE and he's in his last treatment and my husband and I was banking on this paycheck to get more breathing treatments. They told me they can not until I sent paperwork in... I emailed paperwork in they still will not take the hold off of my account. If my son dies because of this we will own Green Dot. I had a really good experience up until now.

    You guys blocked my card when I loaded money to my card... it's been over a week and I want my money off that ** card!!! Just like the rest of these people on this damn review!     Green Dot froze my account. Their reason is that the IRS put a freeze for unusual activity. I've been on the phone for hours with both the IRS and Green Dot. Still with no resolution. The IRS says that's not normal procedure for them unless you owe money and they do not send any kind of notification to release the funds. When I asked Green Dot where to send the info from the IRS. They said they could not provide me with false information. Feel like we're going in circles.

    Waiting for a tax refund since April. Back and forth with the IRS, back and forth with TurboTax, trying to call Green Dot 4 months now cannot get a person. Keeps insisting that my information does not match their records yet the IRS insist that they deposited money into a Green Dot account and there's nothing they can do from their end. Worst customer service ever.

    Updated on 09/21/2018: Someone sent an email response saying to call during business hours... Called during business hours and was told by an answering machine to call back during business hours and then it hung up... this is what I've been going through for months. They collected my tax refund back in April and have not given it to me. They have been holding on to it for many months. I have no way of getting that money and no one will help me. The IRS transferred the money to Green Dot and I have no way to get it.

    I got a Green Dot Prepaid card so I could pay some online bills. After one day and paying 2 bills, I get an email saying my card is frozen for unusual activity. How? I just got it and paid PPL (electric company) and Comcast. In all fairness I did buy a book at Barnes and Noble. Apparently that's unusual. So now I have to send them a picture of my ID and wait two business day. Think my bills will wait, no.

    Green Dot allowed an unknown person to open a fraudulent account under my name despite having a Fraud Alert with all three credit bureaus. When I first became aware of fraudulent attempts to open credit in my name, I filed a police report and established the Fraud Alert. No account is supposed to be opened without me being contacted at the number listed. I was never contacted, as my credit alert specifically details, prior to this fraudulent account being opened. Despite numerous attempts to have the fraudulent account removed from my credit report, the "customer service" agents repeatedly tell me that there is no effect on my credit report because it is not a credit card. This is a blatant lie or a gross misunderstanding of how the credit system works.

    Regardless, my name has been used fraudulently due to the GROSS NEGLIGENCE of Green Dot and the company refuses to make any attempt at amending the situation. Further, after disputing the fraudulent account on my credit report, Green Dot claims the account is legitimate. My credit report now lists a fraudulent address due to this account being opened, which will likely now make it easier for more fraudulent activity to occur.

    This company is a complete rip off. The purpose of this card is to receive direct deposits or so I thought. I had my workman’s comp funds deposited into my Green Dot account since I am out of work due to an injury and as soon as the funds were deposited Green Dot went and placed a “block” on my account. I spoke to two representatives who stated they couldn’t help me and said I need to send a copy of my ID, a copy of the person who sent the check ID - as well as a copy of my paystub. I submitted my ID & a letter from my workman’s comp company stating what is being paid.

    Long story short is Green Dot is giving me the runaround stating it would be 2 days before my account is unlocked. Now I’m being advised that it’s going to be 5 days. I am already 10 days late in paying my car as I am not working and these funds were going to be for that purpose. Green Dot representatives do not care about their customers. You can’t even speak to anyone at the toll free number instead. I’ve been writing back & forth all day via twitter & they just keep giving me the same answer all day. ALL I WANT IS MY MONEY RELEASED SO I can pay my car. I am also doing DoorDash to help out a little and they have it all frozen.

    I purchased a Green Dot card for 1.95. I put 260 dollars on the card. When I called the card I was asked a series of personal questions to register this card for a personalized card to get sent to me. I called to send money to a family member to find out this card can only be used once. It's temporary like a gift card and I can't take my money off. Only use for online purchases. I'm like I was scammed. This isn't what I purchased this card for. I am highly upset and when I spoke to customer service they were rude and gave me the runaround. The worker name was Jean and her supposedly employee Id is **. That was the supervisor and the rep I spoke to was Meroy. I know this info was false but I have a lawyer I contacted because I was mislead and I don't know where my info was transferred or given to and the funds on this card can be used. I'm out of 260 dollars. I need help. My lawyer is helping me contact you guys to come up with a solution.

    Have close to $1000 of mine locked up in an account I have ZERO access to. I sent in my verification and have heard NOTHING. I have reported to the BBB this is unlawful. I can't even get a rep on the Phone. It's an automated message that says "It looks like you have called several times regarding this account. There has been no changes to the block on this account". It does not even give you the option to talk to someone. I need to update my contact phone number on there and no way to do so. I have a 6 year old who was unable to attend a field trip today, my water is shut off, and my rent is due today. NEVER GET A GREEN DOT CARD! Initially when I found out my card account was blocked they would not provide me with any reason why and when I asked to speak with a customer supervisor there were none available. My next step is to contact the news station.

    I have a monthly charge each month that I do. It was denied for lack of funds. Online I had funds, but was told it was not accurate in real time. Wtf. Why is your website not accurate at the time. I have to pay more money that I don't have, because of your mistake. The dates they tried your service agent kept changing to fit her narrative. The supervisor was rude and hateful. He blames me for not making enough money. I've been a client for 3 years. I'm seriously considering changing banks. I was belittle and shamed. I do not like it.

    This card was given to me as a gift for $25. I did not plan to use this as a prepaid card and have never had this much trouble using a visa gift card. I’ve tried calling to cancel the card but customer service hangs up on me before I can talk to a live person. I’m terrified I’m going to start being charged fees for a card I don’t plan on using other than this one time as a gift card transaction. I am completely livid that I had to give my personal sensitive information over the phone just to use $25. Someone needs to contact me as soon as possible to assure this card is canceled immediately.

    Walmart gave me refund of $125 two months ago. I never got money on card. I called and have made two disputes. The first dispute filed. They denied and said it was because supposedly they spoke with Walmart who was putting a return on my card. I never received. I refiled dispute. They again denied because they said they need more documents. I asked, "What documents?" They said it has already been denied. I have had Green Dot since 1999. I am a loyal customer and have never had not 1 of my disputes that I have filed approved. However this one takes the Cake. I am so frustrated from the amount of money that has been taken over the years. I am now seeking legal assistance and would not recommend this company nor GREEN DOT BANK to anyone ever again. Please if you see this as an option for your financial needs RUN as fast as you can. GREEN DOT BANK IS NOTHING BUT BAD NEWS.

    I bought a card for $5 at Walgreens. Opened up an account. I then decided that I wanted to put $40 on it. Come to find out it cost money to put money on the card. With that said it already started out as a bad business deal. The sad thing is it doesn't stop there. The same day I started the account I paid my Netflix bill with it and bought something at the store. I then decided to add another card to my account using with a different card number using their website.

    During the process of doing that, somehow my account got closed and they told me they were going to send a check in the mail of my remaining balance. Keep in mind that I have now had the account for 3 days. $3.95 card purchase, $4.00 to add money, $7.95 monthly maintenance. So it basically cost me $16 so that I could spend $20. That's the kind of service I got with Green Dot. After the account was closed I got a replacement card three days later. It took them 10 days to give me my money back in the mail.

    Go Bank has poor customer service and holds money for no reason. They put a hold on my bank account 9/10/2018 I spoke to someone on 9/11/2018 and was told they would contact me within 2 business days. Today is 9/15/2018. My money is still on hold and no one has contacted me. They also do not accept my phone calls. I have no way of getting to my money from my paycheck that was direct deposited on 9/10/2018 into this account. I originally liked this bank because of the cash back on purchases, however my view has changed. I now feel like the scam customers out of their money. This bank has caused my car payment and rent to be late. So now not only do I not have access to my money from work to pay my bills I also have late fees now attached to my bills. Do not bank with Green Dot. Stay with your traditional bank!!!

    Green Dot says my account was blocked on 7/9 because IRS told them to. I met IRS in person to verify identity on 7/10. Green Dot also says my refund was rejected and sent back to IRS on 8/31. But IRS says it was sent to Green Dot account on 9/6. This is absurd.

    Green Dot switched to a double authorization, where after you sign in, a code come for you to verify and you need to enter to get into your account. The code never come to phone or email. Don't have access to my account online. Talked to Customer Service, they don't know why with the email. The phone # is incorrect they state. I cannot get into the account to change phone number and customer service can't change it either. Which makes sense that they cannot change your information. The problem is nobody can fix the problem (me or them). They said get a new card, I say get a new bank!

    I contacted GreenDot immediately after I saw an unauthorized transaction and they told me that I they couldn’t help until the transaction posted. After being on the phone for an hr they told me it was an ATM withdrawal, how is that even possible if it was in CA and I'M IN PA WITH MY DEBIT CARD. I am now out of funds and my DD DEPOSIT DIDN'T POST TO MY ACCT AS IT SHOULD HAVE! I’ve been with Green Dot for yrs and I am completely upset that I have to discontinue business. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!     I had my brother purchase a MoneyPak for $350 and send me the code so I can put it on my NetSpend card. They said my card was eligible. They made me wait 45+ minutes before my cash was available, no problem I understand, then I went to load it and I kept getting transactions denied errors (what's going on). Then they blocked my attempts for the day so I will have to try back... This isn't user error. This is the NetSpend card I've been using for years. IDK what went wrong but there is no customer support to fix this issue... Now as it stands I'm out $350 with nobody to rectify this situation. Shame on you Green Dot.

    I had over 10 transactions that I did not authorize on my card. I disputed them w/ Green Dot and the dispute was denied. I was told I used my PIN for the transactions. The charges I disputed was for the PlayStation Network. How can I even use my PIN for PlayStation "Network". First of all I don't even own a PlayStation and 2nd where is there a PlayStation store that I could even use my card to enter a PIN? Also, the customer service was SOO awful. He could not answer my questions and all he keep saying was "sorry the dispute is denied." I would not recommend this company because if you do have an issues you are speaking to people from a different country who understand your situation and do not fight to help get your money back in a fraudulent situation. I am now out over $175.00 and they had no remorse.

    There was a block put on my Green Dot card for fraudulent charge. I've submitted my ID several times. I cannot get a hold of anyone and they will not unlock my card. When I call the number it's an automated system that will not let me speak to anyone. All it says is the card's blocked and I can't log in online because it says the information doesn't match the service. It's pathetic I have $40 on the card when the block was put on and now I cannot get to any of my money.

    I purchase a GreenDot card almost a year ago and until recently I had no problems. It was convenient and I was able to use it anywhere. Almost 2 weeks ago it suddenly stopped working and when I called Green, they said the IRS put a freeze on my account. The IRS department says they did not. I sent my ID to the email verifymydocs@greendot.com. Still a week later my account is blocked and now I can't even get a live person on the phone. My September 6th paycheck is floating out there somewhere. It didn't go on the account or was it returned my employer. They have such poor customer service.

    Updated on 09/14/2018: GreenDot responded they would contact me within 24 hours. As of today I have not heard from them. They're holding my money without proof of why. Yet I sent them the documentation they requested. And all I get are automated messages saying my account status has not changed. You cannot talk to a live person. Thankfully my employer is now I'm going to send my money elsewhere and once I get this released I will never deal with GreenDot again.

    My experience is as follows: I have used Green Dot for 4 years. I had spoken to customer service about getting a replacement card back in July, because my card was set to expire in August. I was assured that I would receive a new card two weeks before the expiration date. On Sunday, September 2, I called customer service to inquire about the card. The rep informed me that my card was not eligible to be replaced. She could not tell me why. If I had known that the card would not be eligible, I would have bought a new card beforehand so as to avoid disruption of my funds. I spent 30 minutes talking in circles with the rep's supervisor, who said they would send me my funds in 7 business days. I told him I could not go that long without money. After 30 minutes talking in circles on speaker, my girlfriend asked if we could just transfer the money out of the account itself to a PayPal account.

    This worked, but I asked the supervisor what would happen to my paycheck if the account was going to be closed. He said I needed a new account. I changed my routing information with my employer, but that takes one pay cycle. According to my employer, the funds were sent to Green Dot on September 6. On September 8th, we called to ask about my direct deposit. The rep explained to us that he was sending a replacement and there was no reason why I shouldn't be able to access my funds when they arrived! This was the complete opposite of what we had been told before and we were confused! We waited until Monday the 10th. Still no deposit and worse, the account could no longer be accessed online. I called and got nothing but an automated voice telling me my account was blocked and I have to upload my ID to unblock it.

    I contacted them on Facebook through Messenger and was told that since my account was blocked, my deposit would be returned in 2 business days. Which was another confusing untruth, because it has been 4 business days since my employer sent the funds. As it stands, I have dipped into my savings for daily expenses. I really just want my hard-earned paycheck. But I would also like other consumers to be aware of this company. A week ago, I would have written them a good review.

    Green Dot first blocked our account, which had over $1500 sitting in it, then closed our account and blocked us from being able to talk to anyone. This happened at the end of June. It is now September. We expected for them to cut us a check, but no luck. We have been behind on everything since then. I couldn't even buy my kid birthday presents. I am beyond furious and tell anyone who has a card to run and run fast before their money is stolen as well! 0 stars from me. I wish they had a negative star rating.

No one will email me back and there is no way to speak to a live agent by using the toll free number on back of card, 8668712414. I would like to request my $500 to be loaded on card or refunded another way. Who do I report this to besides Attorney General?

    Purchase of $500 hasn't been loaded since June 2018. I have called the toll free number on back of card to reach a representative to no avail. It keeps telling me no funds available and no way to connect to a live agent. I learned through website to email Green Dot Load and Go and send a copy of front and back of card with my reason for assistance to include the Walgreens receipt, but no one responds to me. Finally, today I emailed Green Dot and Consumer Affairs to attempt to get help to retrieve my hard earned money. I've listed my name and contact number in each page. I need my money back, please!

    I put $24 on a Green Dot card. 7.95 was taken for the monthly fee. Ok, fine. I went to use the rest of what was left at the gas station and my card was declined TWICE! I called my card and it said I had ZERO balance and my card was no longer eligible to be reloaded (so I better not be charged next month's monthly fee!!). How did I have a zero balance when I hadn't used the card yet? Well I pulled up my transaction history and there was a transaction COMPLETED to the gas station for the exact amount of my remaining balance (despite never running that particular amount when we tried the two different amounts at the G.s.). However, the gas station has absolutely NO record of this transaction at all. And guess what? It's absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to get a real live person to talk to at Green Dot. Everything is automated. The robot can't help me GREEN DOT. This is some real con artist stuff right here. I want my money back!

    Extremely disappointed and frustrated. I have $1000 on my card but can't access it due to my card being canceled for no reason and my ID being denied. Can't talk to an actual representative. Every time I call they hang up on me. Said my card is canceled and I can not open a new one. There is no way that keeping this money is legal. I have never been so angry with a company. I would not recommend this bank to anyone.

    I put 60$ on this card. Used it all. I’ve only had it for a week or 2 then it takes out the 7.95$ monthly fee. Not to mention that I already had problems with the card before while trying to add more money to the card so I got a different one. Had 2$ still in this on then go and check it and now I’m in the negative. I will not be using Green Dot’s cards again.

    My mother is in a nursing home and has her disability check deposited into this account. After being hung up on once I spoke with an “Anna” - who told me to reset her login information, which I already had tried but her information, the correct information which has worked every other time we called in, they now say is incorrect. They couldn’t do anything about it. Then I was transferred to “John” who claimed to be a supervisor but wouldn’t provide his employee number, got on the line and told me to do the same thing mindless Anna told me to do. Then after asking me to hold so he could gather information, a “Marvin” got on the line and started asking the same questions and providing the same instructions the other two clearly (hopefully) new employees did.

    After telling me he can’t give me any information, couldn’t update any information, all he could do was send a refund check that would take 2 weeks to get to her even though they were able to accept the money instantly. Now, my mother can’t pay her rent at the nursing home. There needs to be an update on your procedures, at the very least for people who are elderly/disabled and rely on family to assist in matters like this. If anything happens to my mother's ability to stay at this nursing home I will be contacting an attorney - like so many others already have it looks like - and will pursue further action to the fullest extent that the law will allow.

    Depositing your check via mobile is a joke. Website boasts about getting funds 2 days early and 4 days early for your Tax Return for Direct Deposit. I have been with Green Dot for 8 years. Web and emails from Green Dot telling me 8 days for my mobile deposit by taking a picture of the check. WHAT??? I could hitchhike there several times and personally deposit it. Why offer this service if it is not even competitive to traditional banking or any banking. Lame customer service saying “sorry it's just our system.” Well your system is out of date, but you still charge for it. I will be researching other banking options. Glad I can't pay my rent, electricity, or phone bill... Lame.

    I normally have no complaints with Green Dot. I've used them for over 5 years. I've had a few hiccups yet managed to allow customer service to do their jobs. This time I'm completely upset. While I understand that an agency has put a lien on my funds for $117.00. I completely understand the process of you blocking my card which I have no problem with. What I don't like is that the agency sent you my information 8/12 and requested the funds yet you still have not sent the funds to clear the debt. Every time I call, I'm told it's being send different days. You have held my account hostage almost 30 days. Per the agency, I could have just paid them and they could have sent you an email stating it was paid and you release my account. But nooo you choose to hold my account until you get confirmation that the agency has received the funds. I use this account for direct deposit and to pay my bills. I have over hundreds of dollars in that account.

    I'm sure you love collecting the interest while you hold my funds. I spoke with a rep 1 week ago and was told the funds would be disbursed to the agency on 9/7. The agency still has not received those funds. I am in the process of having my attorney involved. I read the agreement and there is nowhere in the agreement that states holding funds for this period of time or disbursing funds would take this long.

    It's unfortunate to have and write this because I love Green Dot however, this situation has gotten under my skin. I'm sick of speaking with someone overseas and does not speak correct English or understand my concern. I continue to get different information about such a serious matter. At this point I will no longer contact Green Dot and have my attorney file a class action lawsuit against you all. I've asked several times to speak with a supervisor and one is never available. I'm always told one will call me back and that never happens. I am so disappointed with Green Dot.

    Called to inquire on a charge on the card. The rep said she'd need to get me a new card. I specifically said no to wait. She canceled my card and a new one has not been received. No access to my funds after almost a month and after today 4 calls. The first call was 8/15th when they canceled my card, 2nd call 8/30th, no call and almost 1st of month when bills are due, 3rd call was 9/7th where I'm told to go and get a new card and they would do a one-time exception and transfer funds. Went and got card - had to put $20 on it which I did on Sunday 9/9 and today checked balance and $7.95 fee has been deducted. So, not only have I had to put $20 on the card to get the $800 I do not have access to. They've deducted 7.95 more. I gave one star because less than zero stars is not an option.

    Updated on 02/21/2019: I thought after going through this the first time they would get things corrected, but I was wrong. Again I have been left high and dry by multiple fraudulent transactions and Green Dot not having proper theft protection plans set up to protect their clients. Every time I call to explain my situation and dispute the transactions I wait for 30- and hour on hold and I have either been hung up on or told that they are unable to correct my situation at this particular time. I HAVE LITERALLY HAD IT.

    The company handled it the last time this happened, however, it took almost 3 weeks and a ridiculous amount of time on the phone and patience with these people. DO NOT EVER LET GREEN DOT HANDLE YOUR MONEY! They will take it from you in a heartbeat, but when it comes time for them to correct something you almost have to sell your soul. I have been left with absolutely no money in my account and cannot even eat because of this. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THIS GREEN DOT!

    Original Review: My funds were COMPLETELY wiped out all happening this morning. I live in Florida and the transactions happened in New York. I obviously was not in New York since I used the card for one purchase in Florida before the fraudulent purchases occurred in New York. I called the customer service line and they have informed me that they CANNOT TAKE ANY ACTION unless the transactions are posted, at which time all they can do is dispute the charges. They informed me that there is a LARGE chance I will NEVER see my money again and that they refuse to do anything about it because it’s not part of their policy?

    I know they have insurance to replace funds in situations like this and they are REFUSING TO HELP. All of my hard earned money is completely gone. This is the worst company I’ve ever been in involved with. I will be reporting you to the BBB and anyone else that will listen. I will scream and yell until someone actually helps me and replaces my funds. THIS IS A HORRID COMPANY, DO NOT USE THEM. EVER. DIRTY SCAMMERS.

    Green Dot Case Number **. Went to Walmart and bought a Green Dot reloadable prepaid Visa card and loaded $200.00 onto card. When I got home, I tried to register the card over the phone, the auto response system kept saying it could not understand my inputs and transferred me to someone live in India. They had problems trying to spell my name correctly, even after resorting to using NATO phonetic alphabet. After some time with this he finally said, "great, you're all set, I am now activating your card, please hold one moment" in which I was sent to a recorded message saying my personal information could not be verified and would not be receiving a permanent card and that the temporary card was restricted to in-person purchases only. I was born here in the USA, served in the military, US Army, and even have an active account with E-Verify, which is United States Department of Homeland Security.

    When trying to find a way to correct this issue, cannot get ahold of a live person, only to meet dead end after dead end, I even signed up to website and tried to contact support, only to be meet with the same response I received over the phone about not being able to verify my personal information, even going as far as quoting Federal law requirements. They say that they have my name, address, date of birth, phone number, and Social Security number and are keeping it on file, if so, how can my personal information not be verifiable? I am starting to get the feeling this is a scam on the International level. I will be searching the Internet to find the appropriate government agencies to report this situation to. No one is above the law.

    I lost my wallet so decided to get a new card altogether with Green Dot card. I went to check my acct on payday to see my account frozen. I called and was told to go online and go through verification. The first page of the verification website won’t even take the card number. I have 738 dollars on that card and cannot touch a dime. All because my payroll last name is my maiden name...I have no idea how to get my card unlocked so I can rid myself of this joke of a card.

    I am so frustrated with Green Dot. My work deposits my check usually, but I was sent a paper check due to a hiccup in our system. I did a Mobile Deposit and the bank is making me wait 10 days to receive my funds. They won’t allow me to cancel the deposit at all. THIS IS THE SAME COMPANY PAYROLL CHECK THAT IS DIRECT DEPOSITED!!! Customer service was very unhelpful. After this is complete, I am leaving this bank and never looking back. I have been a customer for years.

    I awoke to have my account blocked today. Absolutely no funds available. Was on the line this morning two hours and had to run into work, come back and looks like maybe they did pick up but I wasn't there at the time. I call back and the automated system states, "You have called several times. Your account is still blocked. Please mail in the necessary information that was told to be mailed in your previous phone calls." The only problem is no one told me anything. I have not spoken to one person about this from Green Dot because now the automated system has blocked me from "calling several times." So now I have no access to my funds and I don't know what to do. I tried emailing what I "think" they would need and have heard nothing. Meanwhile they have thousands of my dollars. My son has an out of town football game tomorrow, I need groceries. I'm switching to a "real" bank. This is a joke!

    I signed up for Green Dot card because I was told you can use them as a "bank". The only reason I signed up is the mobile deposit. Wow it is a rip off. It will not let me use the mobile deposit at all! I read the fine print and it said this feature is available once your permanent card arrives and you load 150 dollars or more Within 60 days. I have loaded way more than the amount less than 60 days! I have called 3 times today and was told different stories. My first was told you have to pay the entire 60 days to use mobile deposit then the next operator told me you have to sign the electronic agreement. I signed the electronic agreement and it still is not working. They lied!! What was the point in getting the card? That's the only reason I signed up for it because it's convenient!! False advertising!

    Loaded card with money, the same day Green Dot took out $255.61 without authorization. When asked who took the money they gave me the information. I contacted the company and they said they do not charge debit cards that they use an outside company. When they looked up my name to see if I owed anything, they said nothing had been owed under my name. I filed a dispute, asked for further information. Green Dot said I needed to provide them with further documentation, I said how, when I don't know who made the charge.

    They denied my claim and refuse to tell me if where the charged occurred, whether the card was swiped or if the debit card number was punched in. I have no way of knowing who took my money. Any other bank would provide the information requested or would deny the charge. This is stealing from the consumer. I have called 3 times requesting information and have asked for a supervisor to call back and no one is returning calls.

    Been with this company for over two years. Was very satisfied until I had to order a replacement card... Finally received the card. Went to activate immediately. Says my account is blocked. After finally getting a human to speak with I was told to send in my ID. Sent ID through website. Was verified and block lifted. Was told if block was not lifted before my deposit was sent it would be rejected. I beat the deadline for that. Employer has confirmed deposit. Still no deposit when I call. I get the same generic answer, "We have not received any deposits." I will never recommend this company to anyone else and will be moving my funds to a traditional banking system.

    Out of the blue I started receiving emails from Green Dot advising me that my new card would soon arrive in the mail, then I started getting emails to activate my card. I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR A CARD. So I tried to call them but unless you give them a card # (I don't have one) or SSN you can't talk to anyone. So I track them down on Facebook and send a message, obviously I'm concerned, did someone open a card in my name? After many messages back and forth a Green Dot representative finally calls me and says that no card was opened in my name someone must have put in an incorrect email address, that is why I'm getting contacted. They assume this is what happened. Really? In this day of identity theft Green Dot could care less about potential identity theft. The rep tells me they will remove my email address from their files as I told them I do NOT want any solicitations... Three times I've asked.

    I'm still getting emails telling me a card was opened in my name, I just received an email telling me my deposit account agreement has been updated. There is no opt out or unsubscribe on the email. This company is committing fraud, I'm not sure that someone hasn't opened an account in my name and the customer service reps fumble through excuses why I'm getting emails. Next stop is the FTC. I advise to not do business with these fraudsters.

    I'm beyond the point of angry and my fiance, Stephen, is speaking to his supervisor at work now and trying to find out what we need to do to get an attorney involved, Green Dot blocked my account as soon as Stephen's direct deposit went through and we as I have read many other have experienced as well cannot get any straight answers and no resolution. Since this seems to be the only way to get a response from this company, I hope you know this is going to be handled by an attorney if you cannot look at all the documents I have sent in for both Stephen and myself as well and remove the block before 5 pm today, it's going to become a legal matter. We are now a week behind on bills and we have 3 small children and almost NO groceries!

    This isn't a small amount of money you have screwed us over. It's over $1,000.00 and if we have to hire an attorney we will be getting every penny back and then some so I would like a response that isn't auto generated BS, and a resolution to this immediately!!!! I sent everything in over again this morning and there's a copy of both of our IDs, even my birth certificate because my card is in my maiden name, and his pay stub and his work ID was sent in days ago! I expect answers and to have access to our money TODAY!!!

    As soon as my check was deposited they blocked my account! Now they have blocked our calls! And also just took out a maintenance fee when I can't even get in to my account. My attorney has contacted several times by email and written letter! Still no response! And they have several lawsuits against them! Lawyer says run if you get a Green Dot card! Very bad business! Been over a week since I got paid and still can't get to my money!!! Also lawyer has turned them into the BBB and they are not in good standing with them! Can only hope I get my money and no one has to deal with what I have!

    Green Dot did not cancel 2 of 3 cards - Cards weren't cancelled when asked to be (7-13) and someone used them 2 days after supposed to be cancelled. Neither Green Dot nor Walmart will help and we've sent copies of the cards and receipts. Please check my records and reply ASAP.

    I purchased a prepaid Green Dot card 6 days ago for $60 plus $3.95 fee... Card cannot be registered, only messages from 866 number are no money on card then hangs up on me. Tried for several hours to register, contact Green Dot, contact customer support - nothing worked. I was very upset until I came to this website and saw that what happened to me is NOTHING compared to what has happened to most people - I am very lucky to only have 'lost' $60. I had used Green Dot several years ago and everything went smoothly - now I am deathly afraid of giving ANY personal information to this company. May God have mercy upon their soul.

    I could not find a way to add more info to my original review so I am writing another. The company has corresponded and they have changed the deposit procedures, the app will now tell you the expected date that the check will post before you deposit it, and now it will give you the option to cancel the deposit based on the information provided. I would give 5 stars but I still have to wait till the 4th of September. I want to thank Consumer Affairs for their correspondence and getting the policy changed for a bank. I guess I'll give Green Dot another chance now that they did something positive for their customers.

    Purchased Green Dot prepaid card from Dollar Tree for $20 and cannot register the card to use it online, on the app, or via phone. Cannot reach a live person at Green Dot at any of the three numbers I found for them including the one listed on my card. Dollar Tree refused to refund or credit the purchase as well. These cards are a complete scam with no way to reach a rep if you haven't registered your card which in our case we're unable to do so.

    I lost my card and called to get a new one. It took 3 weeks for them to tell me it was returned to sender. After having them expedite it to me they blocked the card and said I had to upload verification. I uploaded my state ID and called the next day to see what was going on. They told me they had closed my account and the ID I provided wasn’t proper verification. She said she had no further information for me. She also said I could use the card until the funds were withdrawn but that I couldn’t deposit funds. Two days later with a balance of $731 I cannot use the card neither withdraw funds. I can’t get ahold of a person and everywhere I try to use the card it’s declined. How am I supposed to get support or information when I can’t get ahold of anyone and I can’t get the money off the card when they told me I would be able to. I’m sincerely frustrated and I have to pay rent with my money but can’t access it. How is this legal?

    I loaded around 1000 dollars on a MoneyPak for a trip I was going on. MoneyPak's website refuses to let me create an account to load this money onto my prepaid card. This is insane that this company is sold at major retailers and engages in shady business practices. I have 2 friends who are executives at Kroger corporation in Cincinnati, OH and I will be asking them to reconsider any and all business with this company.

    First they refused to issue a permanent card saying I could use the temporary card for in person purchases. I told them I got the card to use online (and if I wanted to make "purchases in person" I WOULD USE CASH NOT THEIR STUPID CARD). I was told they would not open this card for online purchases, so I said, "Fine, I want a refund..." (Mind you I already have a Green Dot account & have used their cards in the past.) They at first sent me on a goose chase about how I go about it. They told me to sign in to the cards account, but since I was denied a permanent card THERE WASN'T AN ACCOUNT TO SIGN IN TO.

    I final rant on Twitter and am told how I can request a refund, so I do. A week later I get a letter stating they still didn't believe I was who I said I was so then says I had to send pics of the physical card, the receipt and my driver's license front & back. They only would accept a mailed in response and says it could take up to 4 weeks to "get a response".

    Mind you. When you called to set up the account, they Already had me in the system, they verified my SS, etc... When I asked for a refund, I didn't have to give them any info because they already had my address because they ALREADY HAD IT on File. I sent a registered letter to their "PO box" oh... And my mom is meeting with attorneys on Tuesday regarding a class action against Green Dot. They've kept her money too. These guys are stealing from people, violating consumer protection laws & preying on the economic disadvantaged. Is time to stop this corporation intent on profiting on those with thin pockets.

    I purchased a Green Dot Visa Debit Card with the amount of $70 add to the card, as a gift. The person I purchased the card for did not want to give their SSN and researched online and found out that you are supposed to be able to use the card after the card is loaded upon purchase, however, the person was unable to do so and gave the card back to me. Of COURSE, I AM NOW LIVID! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! I will be reporting this company to every agency and new station I can think of. And Of Course, I found out one of the new channels has already done a report on this company; I wish I saw it before purchasing this card!!! NEVER EVER WILL I buy this card again And WILL TELL OTHERS NOT TO PURCHASE IT, AS WELL. I agree with others who say this company is A SCAM!

    I put $500 on a MoneyPak card. I've used them before, never had an issue. It said to wait 20 minutes from time of purchase to try to load the card. It had been well past 20 minutes but whatever. I try it again and I get "DEPOSIT FAILED. You have exceeded the number of card deposit retrieval attempts allowed." As others have mentioned, there is NO functioning customer service number nor is there any online assistance. It seems like the only way to get a response is to complain on here so that's exactly what I'm doing.

    My card has been unblocked since 6/14 but my pin will not work and has not worked since then. I have tried numerous times to change my pin on the website and it keeps telling me that an internal service error has occurred. So for over a month I can only buy things that do not require a pin. No cash purchases and I am kind of sick of it.

    Green Dot locked my account the day after I called and requested a new card??? How could there be suspicious activity with a card that has not been received yet. I'm frustrated because when my card is received in the mail I won't be able to use it because of some investigation that is completely uncalled for. I have been a loyal customer to Green Dot for years and can't believe at the most trying time of my life this is how Green Dot would do myself and my family. I even talked to a supervisor and told them there had to be some type of mistake and I haven't received the new card so my account should not be locked. I emailed my identification front and back and pray that I'm not like others who Green Dot has ignored. I'm sorry to the families who are dealing with this nightmare like me???

    Please Read. Consumers Beware, Do NOT TRUST this Company! My wallet was stolen out of my purse with all of my identification one day after my entire paycheck was direct deposited on this card. I called asked for a new card to be rushed delivered to me since my entire paycheck on this card. A company I trusted with my funds. I verified with the customer service agent my last transaction and it was correct because I made the last transaction so I thought great I caught this before any of my funds were compromised by the thief. Green for charged $5 for the card and $15 to express deliver it. I borrowed money from family until the three days Green Dot said my new card would come to get by as a single mom.

    I called my card in for a replacement card on 8/19/18. On 8/23/18 I received my card and tried to activated it only to be told my card could not be activated because my account had been blocked!!! I tried to call Green Dot customer service of course to see what was happening because I was completely broke and gas tank on empty after the four days of waiting for my card. Green Dot would not even let me speak to a live person once I keyed in my information. My account information only got me to recording saying my account was blocked, to go online and upload my ID to reopen my account. I was so disturbed and beyond frustrated because I couldn’t even be told why my own account was blocked and I had no access to my own money.

    I had no way of sending a photo of my ID because my wallet was taken. After several hours I finally figured out to press the prompt if I did not receive my card which was the only way to speak to customer service. I explained my situation only to be told with the most rude and uncompassionate tone that they could do nothing to help me. I had to send a copy of my ID. I was also told my account was block because a day AFTER 8/20/18, I had already reported my card stolen someone tried to use the card use my card so the system blocked my entire account. Which was made absolutely no sense because the card should have been already deactivated because it was reported. I had no money for as to get to work, no money to buy new identification, no money to even buy food for myself and my 7 year old child.

    Again the tone and careless response I received from these people was unimaginable!!! I literally had to go to the pawn shop, pawn my Apple Watch to even have money to live, and to go get a new ID. After visiting the Secretary of State to purchase a new ID and I received a temporary ID and was told I would receive my real card in the mail in 7-15 business day. Guess what, Green Dot does not take temporary IDs to verify your identity even though they are valid forms if ID until you receive your new ID from Homeland Security via mail. I called Green Dot thinking for some strange reason someone would hear me out and understand the circumstance of a stolen wallet and use my temporary ID that I did upload to the website but again I was crushed with a robotic response of no concern or help.

    I was told they would forward my telephone number to the corporate office and I would get a call back in two business days. I called after the first two days. The young lady said someone called me. I asked the date and time of the call because of course they left no voicemail, I also had no record of that call in my phone. Two days later again no callback. It has been over a week now and I have received no response, help, resolution or customer service at all from these people.

    This has been literally the worst experience I have ever had with any business in my life and it’s terrifying to know I trusted these people with my money. I have filed a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and I have also contacted an attorney. This is unjust and unlawful to literally hold someone’s entire money without notice or just cause. Again please beware and share this story to others so this company can be stopped and put out of business. They don’t deserve the right or privilege to manage people money.

    Had a few automatic deposits, this "company" then locked my card. I will never ever, ever use this card again. I have contacted two different law firms. The excuses that were made on why my card was locked after several deposits is ridiculously stupid. I just want my money. It's not yours. It's mine. Do not use these people to have paychecks or any other payments deposited. This has been going on for two months now.

    I am a long time Green Dot user. I never saw the level of dissatisfaction that I am currently experiencing coming. I set up a new direct deposit no. come to my card. When it came through they block my card and did not notify me. I didn't find out until I went to use it. I called and was advised to email my state ID to verifymydocs@greendot.com. I waited 2 days and still haven't heard anything back. Now when I call I can't get a person on the phone and got an email stating that this email address is not valid. I don't know who has my very person information or my money. I am disgusted at this kind of treatment over my finances. I am hoping some one reads this and can fix this situation!!!

    So the lady with Green Dot blocked my card all because I lost my card which they could of just turn my card off and sent me another one. Now my direct deposit is not able to go in the account. I can't go school shopping. My son have nothing now and I have to wait a whole 30 days to be able to get my check. Green Dot is horrible! Do not use this. Just go open a bank.

    I have had the Green Dot card for over 3 years. It’s fine until an actual issue arises then you are basically screwed. Green Dot placed a block on my account after my paycheck direct deposited. They said that the IRS had done it and didn’t give me any reason why just a basic phone number to the IRS call automated call center that they could have gotten off the internet. Then they asked me to send in my State issued ID front and back and to include a case # which I did immediately after hanging up. It was late so I had to call the IRS the following day. When I did I spoke to not one not two but THREE agents. Every single one said the IRS did not place the block on my card. The 3rd IRS Agent was kind enough to call Green Dot with me on the phone (I had to dial the number since the IRS does not make telephone calls only mail with written communication).

    The first Green Dot Agent that was unlucky enough to pick up my call immediately disconnected the call when the IRS agent identified herself along with her ID number. The agent had me call back a second time. When we reached the “identity protection” department at Green Dot the IRS agent again identified herself and asked the direct question to the Green Dot agent Reesa Badge ID ** “what sort of communication have you received from us at the IRS and what are you saying you need from us to unblock the account?” The Green Dot Agent just read from her Green Dot corporate office robotic preapproved generic script over and over never answering any of the questions presented to her.

    When I asked if my ID had been received she wanted to know where I sent it what date and what my case ID# was all to which I replied. She never answered me if they received it she just kept saying “if you sent in your ID to us then we are just waiting for the IRS to unblock it.” Every time she said that the IRS agent who was still on the call would reply “No ma’am you are not waiting for us because we have nothing on this girl!” We chased our tails on that over and over with the Green Dot Agent being zero help.

    I have contacted the IRS identity theft department AND the IRS Taxpayer Advocate. The next step will be a lawyer. I’m not going to go away because Green Dot is now holding my paycheck that I worked HARD for and was meant to pay our rent this month. Now that I cannot pay my rent I cannot put a roof over my disabled child’s head nor feed them. And I’m sure you will see a response from Green Dot just like every complaint that says “We attempted to contact you regarding this complaint and have had no response from you” to which I say is a blatant lie just like them claiming the IRS has put a block on my account. Someone needs to give me my money back ASAP!

    Tried to change user ID & password. Just kept getting flipped back to home page. Called several times! First rep sent my call to automated representative who asked me for my number and expiration date. Typed it in, nope not there. Hung up on me. Called back asked two questions, he refused to answer. Hung up on me. Called back told this rep what just happened. Asked him same two questions. Would not talk to me unless I give him all my info. Said he didn't need it to answer those two questions. He got very nasty with me & hung up when I ask to please speak with someone else. What a nightmare this has been! Just want my money!

    I sell Avon and purchased a Green Dot card for reloadable usage. Once my fiance and I found out you could get paid up 2 days faster with DD I told him to use my card and info. He went to Wal-Mart his job 2 days later and did all the DD paperwork and no-one told us he needed to be added to my account. He got paid on 8/23 and then my card was blocked. When told I had to send documentation to unblock my account I sent them everything they asked for and was told it would take 2 business days. Make a long story short they are still claiming the documentation was never received and refusing to unblock my account or even after talking to my fiance releasing it back to Wal-Mart.

    My son was heading to Europe on a school trip and I was misled into believing that the Green Dot Visa was accepted anywhere. Visa is accepted according to the FRONT OF THE PACKAGE. This is completely false. Of course you don't discover this until you open the package and find the microscopic print on the inside stating for US transactions only. Registering this card was an absolute nightmare. I purchased from Walgreens who will only accept cash for the purchase of the card and my $400 was basically held hostage because I couldn't register it and Walgreens would not refund my money after it was determined useless for my son's trip. Walgreens tried helping me for several hours to get the card registered online and via phone to no avail. Because I had to pay with cash, there is of course, absolutely no recourse. The whole situation felt like a scam.

    I was finally able to register the card only via the App I was forced to download. Since then I have gotten slammed with an $8 monthly charge so now I am scrambling to buy things with it so they don't fee me to death. I can't wait to destroy this card and get it out of my wallet. I have been working in the financial institutions industry well over 20 years and they should be ashamed to call themselves a Bank. I've worked for several banks and I've never heard of such poor business practices. Feels like it's run by the mob. A lot of people ask me for financial advice and before I recommend anything I will be sure to highly discourage them from even looking at your cards. I'm also writing a letter to Walgreens about my experience and suggesting they discontinue the sale of these cards- they cause horrible customer experiences and should be avoided. I pity anyone that is forced to use these cards by their employers or anyone else.

    I've had Green Dot for 2 years. Never a problem til now. My card was stolen. Bills not paid to collectors that say paid to collectors. Called got new??? They said money would be back in account in 10 days by the 27th. Called they haven't done anything. Now I have to send them paperwork stating the same thing I've told them 4 times. And was told 10 more days. After I send the paperwork called Amazon about transaction. They said they stopped the transaction before I even called. They never accepted money.

    Rent One still haven't received their money from last month that says paid. Called back to cancel my direct deposit so I can go to Regions Bank. The system won't even connect me to a person. I've reviewed my transaction for the year they are taking my money since they started the vault. Money's missing. So far I'm looking at about 300. My original dispute was for 125. I have at least 4000. Deposited in the account a month. Please go to a real bank. At least you can walk in and talk to someone that can speak back or maybe speak English. I'm so pissed.

    I can't figure out where to record my complaint so I'm doing it here. I researched Green Dot at the register for hours yesterday to figure out how to do it at the store with my card (which was on the list of cards that could be used through it). I went to 3 stores that said on the Green Dot website store locator that they could add money to a card. None of them could do it. One of them (Rite Aid) didn't even know what a MoneyPak was. That was a huge waste of time that could've been avoided if the website hadn't lied about those services being provided at those stores.

    I called multiple times about an issue with my mobile app in a feature that I am unable to use and don't understand why because I have met the eligibility requirements. When asked to speak to a supervisor regarding this I was told that I would be transferred to speak with one only to find out I had been rerouted to the automated system and my call will no longer go any further than that. Green Dot is the worst prepaid company in the world today and people need to know that. When you say you have customer service you don't even know the meaning of it. I think everybody that works for Green Dot needs to go back to school and learn the definition of customer service.

    Updated on 09/06/2018: I was informed today about Green Dot's reasons on why they think I have yet to meet "their" eligibility requirements and only one of them I can agree with. I can honestly say that I have yet to do that. The reason I have yet to complete that part of the eligibility requirements is simply Green Dot failed to inform personalized card holders they are required to upload photos of their state or federal issued identification such as driver's license, identification card or passport. Along with failing to do this they have also failed to provide a link so that personalized card holders can comply whether on the mobile app or website.

    I used the mobile check cashing service to cash my check from my job into my account, as I have my direct deposit set up with Green Dot I figured it would clear with in a day or so and I get an email saying it will take 8 days. Well my rent is due on the first and my electric bill was due today. I called 3 times and they tell me nothing can be done. This is ridiculous as this is a payroll check from my job. Thanks a lot for making me almost get my power shut off today and thanks a lot for me possibly getting evicted from my apartment. I can't get any info on why the deposit won't hit and they tell me there is nothing they can do.

    This company has very poor business practices. My 16 year old son purchased a prepaid card with his grandmother. He had attempted to activate the card online, and they requested his social security number. There is absolutely no reason why they should need a social security number to activate a 20 dollar prepaid credit card! In addition, the company has just sent him a debit visa in the mail. How is this even ethical to send a teenager a card for a bank account? As for the card he did purchase, it cost 2 dollars to activate, and the company also deducted 6 dollars as a "monthly fee". When making an attempt to contact them, there is absolutely no way to speak with an actual person. Very poor practices.

    I’ve been using Green Dot for years. I bought a new card and all of a sudden my card was blocked. I uploaded my state ID my social security card and everything. I called customer service and they told me I can’t use cash back, I can’t use online pay, or over the phone pay. I can only go into a store and use the card. I don’t understand nor appreciate the fact you put your bill money on this card and then they lock it so now I lose out on my bill money!!! And Green Dot lost a customer. Unless it’s fraud activity, there’s no way they should be able to lock your account to ONLY in store use.

    They claim to be the easiest quickest way to move cash between prepaid cards and online accounts. Once you purchase the card then there is reason after reason why you can't apply the money you just paid a retailer whom issued you a receipt for the transaction to anything. You have absolutely no access to the money you just untrusted them with. There is no live customer service especially not 24 hrs a day as they claim. No you have to communicate via the messenger. And the only thing they tell you to do is request a refund that will take 2 weeks. All this over a verification issue of some sort. Verify what I have. The card, receipt, my id, my bank info, my debit card, etc etc etc. Still nothing from Green Dot or MoneyPak whatever they call themselves.

    I've had my Walmart Money Card for a few years. No issues. THEN I put $460 on my card to make a purchase. My purchase was rejected and my card was cancelled with NO explanation - not even a phone call! It took me two months to finally get a hold of a human. I was told to email my ID and that my case would be expedited. Nothing yet! They told me that they turn the money over to the state if my card "can't" be reopened. This is complete **! $460 is a lot of money! But they don't hesitate to keep charging their $5 monthly fee... I've already spoken to my family lawyer and am pursuing charges with law enforcement.

    Ordered a Walmart MoneyCard on 06/29/2018 and activated my card with no problem. I set up a direct deposit for my school refund to be sent to my Walmart MoneyCard. I received my direct deposit and my card was blocked immediately. I called the number on the back of the card and was told to send in documentation supporting the deposit and my drivers license. I sent those documents in the same day. Called back the next day to see if they received the documentation and was told they didn't have it, I sent it in again and called. They said they had it and my card would be unblocked within five business days. I called back again the next day to make sure they had everything and to see if anything else was needed.

    I was informed nothing else was needed and to keep checking my card. I called back the next day to check the status and was told they didn't see my documents, I told them that I sent it in and talked to someone and they said they had it. I was put on hold and she came back and said it was the wrong documents. They needed something else supporting the deposit. So, I asked what exactly did they need because I had given them everything I had supporting the deposit and the rep couldn't tell me why. So, I asked to be transferred to a supervisor and she told me due to high call volume no supervisor was available. She said she can put in a ticket for someone to call me back within 4 hours and I have yet to receive a callback. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I will be taking further action if this is not handled soon.

    Updated on 09/07/2018: I was contacted by someone from Green Dot Corporation a couple of days later, I was first told my documents needed to be taken as a picture and not scanned, that was the holdup, so I took a picture of my documents and sent them to the email provided. I was told that my documents were acceptable and to wait 2 to 5 business days for my card to become unblocked. By the third business day, my card was still blocked. I called back again and was told they were waiting on documents to be sent in. I informed that I received a call from someone from Green Dot Corporation, sent in the correct documents and he explained that they were acceptable. I was then told that it would take five business days from the day I sent the documents in.

    I called on the fifth business day and it was the same thing, except now it was down to the next business day and I didn't have to call. I could call a number provided to me to check the status of my card. I called the next business day. I called again and asked what was going on. I was told that it would be another 2 to 3 business days to keep checking the card. It has now been 10 days, and nothing has been resolved. Green Dot Corporation has been no assistance whatsoever. My card has been blocked since July 26, 2018. It’s to the point now where I'm going to take legal action because writing them and calling seems to be doing nothing and when you call and ask about your money, the representatives seems to be the one with the attitude. I will NEVER use Walmart MoneyCard again.

    This company has been a nightmare from the start. The only reason I HAD to used it is because my taxes were forcefully put on the card. I didn’t request for a card from them, wondering for some time where my return is and it’s on this card that was supposedly given to me in June (it’s the end of August) and never was sent. Thought the issue was resolved. After a million tries to get thru to an actual non helping person it was ‘sent’ again & told to wait up to two weeks. Surely never came, get in contact again. They finally expedite it. Wow. It came, only to be locked after the first time I used it. LOCKED!

    I was at the grocery store buying food for the kids & was embarrassed because it was declined all because of a suspicious payment, that wasn’t suspicious. It was used once. Then I called to unlock my card and all the horrible customer service people could say was their crappy script of ‘sorry’... Oh and they hang up on you multiple times. & finally the third lady was worthless too. If you are forced to use his card, take your cash out and run!!!

    Green Dot blocked my card, on the phone with one of the ladies and she verified all docs they needed and wouldn’t lift the block after I told her I was late on rent and it was due today or I was going to be EVICTED!! What company holds people’s paychecks?! If it was a bank all you would do is confirm what they needed and the block would be lifted! Needless to say I’ll be on the streets with my 8 year old because they wouldn’t give me my check!!!

    Green Dot Support I was a victim of a scam. The scammers called me pretending to be Southern California Edison and were threatening to turn off our power if I didn’t purchase a MoneyPak card and give them the number on the card. I reported to the police, the store where I purchased the cards and I filed a fraud claim report with MoneyPak. After several attempts to reach MoneyPak and Green Dot by phone, I reached Rizza in the Fraud dept who informed me that my case was closed due to that no funds were left on the cards.

    I had a dispute granted in the amount of $402. After receiving statements I noticed charges the same day as my disputed charge so I went ahead and filled another dispute using the same documentation I had sent in for my previous dispute... I want to know why my dispute got denied when my previous one was approved the charges were the same day.

    I sent documents that prove it wasn't me and still I get denied and is taken about 16 days. I was assured by Daniel from Corporate that on the 10th business day I would be credited a provisional credit for the amount that was being disputed... That never happened only received a courtesy credit for $25 dollars and 3 days before that 4 service fees were reversed... Now after through investigation I've been denied... Such a joke if my dispute before was approved using my arrest report was approved then why was this one denied it shows my arrest and the date and time I'm looking into legal action along with the many more that are doing the same thing in the same situation with this corrupt company we call Green Dot.

    I placed an order with Christianbooks.com on the 15th of August using my Green Dot Prepaid Card. As of the 16th; there was a secondary charge placed on my card for the order (which I knew there would be a "hold" placed until the payment was completed and items shipped); however the original hold was not released and is still showing as pending. 2 charges to my card, both showing the same amount to the same online retailer... However the one was completed and received items in the mail today. Why is there still a hold on my card...

    Spoke with a representative, and they informed me that the funds cannot be released until the 30th... (Even had a 3 way "conference" call between myself, a representative from Christianbooks.com's credit department and the Green Dot rep (during which the credit rep at the retailer authorized release of my funds due to payment being cleared, but the rep got very snotty with her as well and said unfortunately we cannot do that) so I asked to speak with a supervisor while still in 3-way calling, and was put on hold for almost 30 minutes just to have the representative come back on and inform me there were no supervisors available at the moment and agreed to wait a little longer.

    Finally after being on hold for another 20 minutes, same representative; same story... I will no longer be using Greendot after this unpleasurable experience. This company really sucks when it comes to customer service. My card is charged a $7.95 a month service fee; however can never get anything solved when an issue arises. In my opinion, Green Dot is the worst company out there... I definitely advise others to think twice before using any of their services.

    This company has a block on our card. Our payroll checks were uploaded to this card. $1,500 is unblocked. I have tried multiple times to call the company. I have emailed all verification they have requested. My employer has requested a refund of the direct deposits and have not yet heard that every time I try to call the number it tells me to call back later or have exceeded my limits. We want our money back. Unblock my card or I'm getting a lawyer.

    Signed up for Green Dot Mobile Deposit because it was supposed to be fast and easy. So far neither of which was true. Get your check deposited fast, up to 5 business days the terms and policies said, which was reasonable. But once I deposited the check on the mobile app I got an email receipt saying my funds would be available 11 days from being deposited, and that there’s NO option to cancel or expedite the process?! I immediately called customer service, two specialists told me there’s nothing they can do, much less give me an answer as to why my check is being held, and then hung up on me. I’ve never had any issues with Green Dot until now, very disappointed and completely appalled by their customer service.

    Green Dot stole $2900 - I have tried for over a month for someone to call me back. I had a direct deposit and a security refund deposited to my account and then they blocked my card. I have tried calling and the automated system says “We realize you have called several times, if the issue is not resolved in 24 to 48 hours call back”. I have called repeatedly for over 30 days and still nothing. Now I had to pay an attorney to fight this. This is a terrible company! Stay away!

    I feel like everyone should know what my family has been through!! They have the worst customer service! I used to praise these cards as we’ve had one for almost 7 years and just in the last month there's been one problem after another. We have our children’s social security deposits go on meaning my husband and I. Also my paychecks 'cause I work part time at Walmart! Now due to what their customer service rep told me to do my 7 year account was closed with no warning. So then they told me we could open another so my husband did. I contacted social security and had my children’s money rerouted to the new card but was told it could take a while so to cover my rent I took a loan out against my 401k and overnighted it.

    So when I got it I cashed it and loaded it to my card and afterwards I was told by my landlord's because I was late now for the first time since I moved in 2 years prior that I had to pay by money order so before I went in the next day to buy one my children’s money finally went on my card so I proceeded to submit my credit card payment before I went to get my money order not knowing what would happen next. I went in to purchase a money order for rent on August 8th from my own work it was declined!! I went on my app and it says blocked for suspicious activity!!!

    My husband and I called on 3 way. We were told to photocopy all documents they told us to and send in an email. Now my husband and I both have U.S. passports but they explained they needed the plastic I.D. and they no longer accepted passports a month prior and my husband's I.D. was expired so of course we had to go the next morning and get him a new one which could take 2 weeks to come in the mail.

    Remind you at this point we haven’t paid our rent and a couple bills and had no money for food, diapers or gas! But no one there wanted to help us even though we submitted every document including a marriage license, passport, pictures, my Merrill Lynch loan document and documents for our children. So we waited 8 days for my husband's I.D. to come and immediately uploaded and submitted the picture and called right away! Yet again nobody wanted to help us considering at the end of today we are being put in for a court date to be evicted and all they told us is it could take another 5 days to review the I.D.

    Now because my credit card payment was returned my credit card accounts were now closed when I have never missed a payment. What I found out was this had nothing to do with suspicious activity at Green Dot but as soon as your account goes over $2,999 they can hold your funds and request to verify your identity and people are picked at random! They also don’t contact you when they do this. You have to find out when you try to make a purchase. So now our legitimate money is now being held with nobody to contact or go the extra mile to help us like we’ve done to submit our documents!

    I have now contacted the local news outlet and a lawyer to assist us in recovery our money and fix what we are about to lose for no reason at all!! We have asked multiple times what was so suspicious and were told that they had no idea and were confused themselves!? I will never again use these cards nor will I ever promote or sell one ever again either!!! Also we were told corporate would call us back in 48 hours it took 96 hours for corporate to call us back! He also gave my husband a fake extension number!

    Do not get this card at all. In April somebody stole my identity through this card company. I've been calling for 3 months for the bank statement for my police report. Every time I call I get a excuse of why they can't send it. They let somebody steal 8,000$ from me and now I can't even obtain a copy of the bank statement after providing endless details and documents to verify that I am MYSELF!

    I purchased a card over 2 weeks ago. I got it so that I can start receiving direct deposits (this is my 1st job). I had to put $20 on the card in order to buy it and once I tried to activate it I had very limited use. Because I am 16 I was told that I could not reload or do any cash withdrawals with the card. This is not outlined in the information that came with the card. So they took close to $8 for the monthly fee. I am not able to use it ever again so why take anything from me? I called and had to act like I was calling about a stolen card in order to even talk to someone. She told me there is nothing they can do. Well I beg to differ. I know that it is only $8 but it's about the principal. I was never informed via their "terms and conditions" that I could not use the card because they have an age limit. So I believe it is only right that I get my measly $8 back.

    Y’alls company is seriously making me mad as hell and about to make me cuss all of you out. I don’t even like to be this mad at people. It took me a while to finally register my card that I bought today. Once it told me I had $20.00 in my account and it sent me an email saying I registered, it wouldn’t let me make a purchase online, not even with PayPal. I was getting furious. When I called the support number, it kept asking for the last 4 digits. I’ve tried giving it the last 4 digits of my social security, card number, and the activation code on the receipt too and NOTHING worked! I’m trying to figure out why I can’t purchase anything with my card when I was able to login in and check my balance. Like wtf is with this?

    I’m very tired and extremely pissed off. I’m trying to purchase things online!!! Stop giving me a hard time. If I can never use the $20.00 I have on the account before the card expires then I’ll NEVER get anything from this company AT ALL. I specifically came onto this website for y’all to freaking pay attention and get me support as soon as possible! Otherwise, I won’t use this company and I won’t recommend the company either. Y’all gave me an extreme headache. I already hate the way we have to register a card we bought with our own money. Y’all just lost a customer, goodbye.

    Last month I was in jail. I got out to find 500 missing from my account. I tell them they sent me a new card and I paid 15 bucks to get the card fast. So they lock account own and it took 2 weeks to prove my identity. This month the ex used Western Union to get another 500. So for 3 days now they say they gave me the money back and I can use my card after I listen to a rude message saying they don't want my business anymore, I can spend money after listening. I listened 3 times. The stores say wrong pin number and credit transactions are declined. I was late changing my direct deposit info, but I already agree with them.

    I would never do business with them again. I sent them a letter and police report info... If I could have actually talked to a person, this problem could have been fixed last month, I can't speak to anyone. Even reading through these complaints, it's all a legal response that says someone will look into it. Well quit with the legal meaningless response and give me my money so we can part ways. I went to library to change pin and it then said eternal error. Well I think the entire company is an eternal error. I need to register my truck and get dogs flea medicine and you say I won the dispute by giving me my money back... But I can't get my money. Won't do business with me again, you are 100% correct about that. I need to see doctor, I need my truck, I need my money.

    Two weeks ago today my paycheck was deposited to a GreenDot.com card through direct deposit. They CLAIM you get your paycheck two days earlier by using their card. The card was in Renee's name because of an issue with my bank where I had to close my account. I called to verify the funds were there (not two days early as promised) and customer service said the money was blocked. They told me we needed to verify identity of the cardholder and the person on the check. So I emailed a copy of our drivers' licenses as requested and both Renee and I spoke to them on the phone. They said it would take 2 days to review the documents. Fast forward 7 days...still the account was blocked.

    Mind you when I called back to find out what was going on the customer service number gave nothing but a recording stating "we see you have called several times about this account and there has been no change. It takes two days to review documents" and then it would hang up on me!!! I COULD NOT GET THROUGH TO A LIVE PERSON!! Finally I resorted to their Facebook support page. I got a message back stating they now needed a copy of my check and the direct deposit form and again was told it would take 2 days to review the documents.

    Fast forward 12 days and STILL NO MONEY AND NO WAY TO TALK TO SOMEONE!!! It has now been 2 weeks and they still have my money. I messaged them again and demanded they send the money back to the ranch. This time I was told in order for them to do so they would need a letter on company letterhead requesting the money be returned AND it would take another 10 days to process!! STILL AM UNABLE TO TALK TO A LIVE PERSON!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!

    Opened a prepaid account to help boost my credit. Made my 1st payment with a paper check. Made my next payment ACH through the same account. Now they have an issue and have restricted access to MY PREPAID MONEY, and want a voided check or bank statement to verify I paid ACH through MY account?? They are refusing to refund money until I send them this. As a previous victim of identity theft I find this highly unorthodox! Not to mention they did all of this via email, which any other card company will tell you they will NEVER do.

    Green Dot has told me that my brother can't be given a permanent card due to not being able to verify his personal information. How much more verifying do you need besides: ss number, dob, address and security questions? Signature in blood? So far we have spent 80 dollars on 2 different cards hoping 1 would work. I have tried repeatedly to call the customer helplines on both the regular Green Dot card and the Walmart card backed by Green Dot. I either get smarmy recordings that hang up on me or in the case of WM card a person who can't tell me why this is happening. I am about to log a complaint with the Better Business Bureau! I am beyond frustrated and I demand some kind of action or refund!!!

    I've enjoyed this card greatly. Hated to draw my money out but someone kept taking money out. Filed 2 disputes, my paper work for your fraud investigation is still sitting at post office as I sent it certified. Y'all denied my claim twice and never even looked at paper work. Still at po box. I did not make 445 dollars in video game purchase from Singapore. I have never felt more robbed than when y'all paid them twice and never even looked at my dispute forms that y'all required. I am a manager for Walmart and I will make sure people know this. And is ridiculous y'all told me charges came from Singapore but I must have zapped my self there in a hr from Pineville Louisiana if any. And I would like the info that you used sent to me as stated in your letter.

    I have a Green Dot Card which was stolen. The thief was able to compromise their security to withdraw 600 from my account. As soon as I discovered my card missing, I notified Green Dot to shut off my card. I was told to send a letter with police report so that my money can be returned. Three open claims now all denied by Green Dot with no explanation. Sent Certified mail to Pasadena to ensure they received the letter and police report. The call center denies receiving although I have proof they did. The call center is in Manila. There is no corporate info or ways to contact management in the U.S. They are a scam company that does not honor their valid disputes. I will continue to warn people via mail, internet or whatever necessary to expose Green Dot for the Sham Company they are.

    I completed info including email and phone number and paid $200 to start my account. They took the $200 and that was it. No card, no contact, nothing!!! When I try to call I am unable to get a live person unless I enter my 16 digit card number (obviously don’t have) or my social (which their system can’t find me under). If I do not hear from someone in the next couple hours, I will contact my attorney. I am tired of the systems that allow these cartels to steal our money! Go print more money like you’ve been doing, no need to steal from us. The cartel Central Banks and proprietors of own the printing machine.

    I got the Green Dot card to give my credit a 20 point boost that I needed. I ordered it on July 6, 2018 and it reported on July 10, 2018 to ALL three credit bureaus WRONG. Green Dot reported my annual 49 dollar fee as my credit limit. My score dropped 200+ points with all the bureaus!!! It looks as if I maxed out a 49 dollar credit card (which I hadn't even received at the time). I called Green Dot and I was told that to contact the credit bureaus and send them a letter explaining what happened. Green Dot said they would report it correctly for Aug 10, 2018 and there is nothing else they can do to get my initial credit back to where it was before they destroyed it. But, the damage is already done. I now have to rebuild my credit from the dumps because of their error.

    First of all, I realize everyone has to work; however, Green Dot should employ individuals who can speak clearly and effectively the English language. Every time that I have had to call in, I never ever have spoken with someone who is American. Secondly, I had a good experience for the first seven months of my use with my Green Dot debit card. However, during my eighth month, I experienced a problem receiving my direct deposit insurance payment. There has never been a problem before but all of a sudden, the representatives can't tell me when my money will hit or why it hasn't posted to my account yet. Bad business GREEN DOT!

    Lastly, I wouldn't be so upset about it if the reps weren't so nasty acting or if some type of compensation was given to me. You see Green Dot, I am a single mother and bank literally on every penny that I earn. I was assured my money would be posting today as I had no other money, no breakfast money, no lunch money. When I really needed you (Green Dot) you really let me down. I hope others read this post and think twice before joining with your service. Shame on you!

    Green Dot Bank closed my account with $900.00 in my account, this was in Dec. Just before Christmas. I was trying to install mobile app it asked to verify myself when I did it couldn't verify and closed the link to send more verification. I still haven't received any of my money. I now have to get a Lawyer involved.

    Updated on 08/16/2018: Green Dot Bank contacted Me... But IT'S Thursday morning. 1st I called too early. They were Closed. Now I'VE called 5 times and each time I get a recording of Hours of operations, and my call CAN'T be answered at this time call back later. Wow, what a kick in the Gut...

    When I load money on to my card I then try to use my card to pay bills! Every time I try to use the card I get a decline notice. It won’t allow me to use the card until the next day. I end up getting late fees by my merchant! I called Green Dot customer service and it was terrible. She wasn’t listening to me and proceeded to repeat herself! Which explains the card and the level of service. Never using the card again. Just sticking with my credit union. Their fees are cheaper anyways! Wouldn’t recommend this card.

    Have used this service for years. Never again!!! I guess they have a new policy where you have to upload your ID. Have tried several times!!! Still no money! If I knew this was the case, I would have never done this. The whole purpose of this service is the instant funds. Not to wait a few days. Now I have a past due bill because I can't get my funds!!! If my funds are not uploaded today, this company will be reported. Not only by the BBB, but my local news station outlets and my Neighborhood App. If you need your funds within a few days DO NOT USE THIS "NEW" ID METHOD!!!

    I have a Walmart MoneyCard and Green Dot sent me a card to use, and it works just like Walmart MoneyCard. But they don't tell you as soon as you put money on Green Dot card they take 10.00 from you. What the hell kind of card is that. Steal your money right away, now that should be a lawsuit and a half. Any attorneys out there. I'm in if you need to sue these guys. ** card and company, go Walmart MoneyCard.

    I would like to express the fact I'm sure everyone would like to know before investing in a card through your direct deposit accts. I opened mine. Had several hundred dollars direct deposit into the account. It's been over 12 weeks I'm still trying to get my money. I've been calling and, sending email documents with no resolution. I never thought I'd have issues with a couple of card you could buy in the United States and at a Walmart nearby.     Green Dot has had $800 of my money held for over a month. I made a transfer from Paypal and they flagged the transaction and wanted me to prove my identity. I sent my ID and never heard anything even after the 5 days they said it would take. Then when I called back, they said the ID was unreadable, and to send proof of my direct deposit. I sent both while on the phone with the representative and she said it was fine, the hold would be lifted in 5 business days.

    Then after 5 more days without my money, I called again and the representative said the proof of direct deposit wasn't adequate. I explained that I didn't have direct deposit and it was a one time transfer from Paypal. She said there was a misunderstanding and that she was escalating this to corporate and everything would be cleared up in 24 hours. 5 days later and now when I call, I get the automated message that I have called about this issue and it is still not cleared up and to resend the information requested.

    How can my employer, other credit companies and banks confirm identities in minutes and Green Dot not be able to do it instantly, What a scam. I am contacting the Attorney General of my state, of California. I am also filing complaints with every Federal agency that I can. There is no reason this company should be able to hold my money for a month. At the least they should at least reverse the deposit and just give me my money back. I would never recommend this company to anyone!!! Avoid at all costs!!

    Do Not Get This Card!!! My husband lost his card and now he’s being treated like a criminal to get a new one sent out. The card has been block for suspicious account after we reported it stolen. HOW? Once I report it stole the card should have been deactivated so who could have been trying to use it. Then the process will take a full month to get a new card. Thank goodness I have an actual bank to make sure our bills get paid or we would be on the street. I’ve been telling my husband that since he got the card to consider using a bank but he likes the option of getting his check sooner. And when I called to speak with a supervisor the person told me they were a supervisor. WOW. Never known supervisor to sit and take calls and just by my luck I got one and I needed one. Yeah right! She refused to get anyone else on the line for me. These types of experiences are uncalled for.

    I had unauthorized charges on Aug 1, someone had gotten my card, opened a PayPal account and withdrew est $800. I called Green Dot, only thing they would do was cancel card and send me a new at $4.95. I called again the next day because the charges were pending, I was informed I had to wait for them to post. I then called back 3 days later to check on status and nothing had been done. So I filed a dispute over the phone and was told it would take up to 7 days for the money to be returned. So on the 8th I called again and was told I need to fill out a paper dispute to complete the claim. I was then inform it takes up to 2 weeks to process and 10 days for money to be returned.

    Now if you add it up that's Sep 3. Here is how they stole my money, I called Paypal also on Aug 1 and explained what happened. Paypal had completed the dispute and claim by Aug 5 which is a Sunday and reversed the charges. On Aug 8 the money was back in my account only to have Green take the money and reverse the refund because I have a dispute. WTH. They said when I called that I had an open dispute and the money was not mine. WHAT. So in order to get my money that I worked on getting not Green Dot, money I got refunded not Green Dot, Green Dot wants to hold because I have not completed my dispute with them. Not only that they held my wife $2550 payroll that has nothing to do with the dispute. This is 100% illegal as from what I was told they only have 10 days to return the money.

    My card number information was stolen! 2 purchases were made online with ASOS.com. I called the company to dispute. One they reversed but one had "left the building" they were unable reverse. I called Green Dot on July 10th. On July 24th (2 wks after my dispute) Green Dot "said" they made ONE phone call to the company. In chatting with the company I was told no one picks up that phone and there is no machine. ASOS only does business via "chat", email and social media. My dispute has been extended to 45 days! And still only 1 phone call has been made. This could be resolved in 5 min! No one at Greendot will fix my issue!!! Horrible service.

    Green Dot are thieves, if they can't verify your information especially after you send in a copy of your drivers license to them 5 times, and they completely block your card, then they tell you, "You can never have a card with us again."     I’ve had a great experience with my Green Dot card. I love the direct deposit option and love that I can get alerts letting me know when a certain amount has been spent. I love the ease of keeping track of what and how I spend money. I also LOVE that I can stash money in the vault and unstash it when I need to. The only two complaints I have is where I live there isn’t an atm that doesn’t charge a big fee for withdrawals. If I want to make a withdrawal from an ATM I end up getting charged 6-8 bucks between the fee from the bank and the fee from green dot. The complaint is being charged to load my card. If I have a paycheck and take it to Walmart to cash I get charged a fee then I get charged another fee to load it on my card. I realize that may be on Walmart’s end and not green dot's but it is annoying to spend 7.00 just to load my card. Overall though I highly recommend the card!

    My time with the Green Dot Bank corporation has been pretty good. I don't have to much to complain on the service is good, there are multiple locations I can deposit or withdraw from, I really love the stash idea that's on there to simulate a savings, and the app is very useful for paying bills and etc. On the contrary I don't like the fees that come with it while withdrawing Money. I feel like it would please customers more if those were to be free at certain branches or just free in general. I understand you are a business first so I understand the plus side to it and you guys do compensate the user by allowing checks to hit accounts up to 2 days in advance but those fees are killer.     Green Dot has certainly been helpful for me. I like that I get my money sooner through direct deposit. I also like that there’s a cash back option. It’s been a mostly reliable system for doing what I need to do. I don’t like that I can’t use my card with Apple Pay or that they haven’t started sending cards with the EMV chips and the account also doesn’t work with apps like Venmo. It works well with Cashapp but not everyone I know uses Cashapp. I need more flexibility with this card. It does what it needs to do, but for a fuller experience I’ve had to look into alternative options.

    This one starts as my fault but cannot find a way to fix this. I started a new job and wanted to use my prepaid card to get direct deposit. Well I had cut out the bank account and routing # I gave to my company and on payday I never received my check. I talked to secretary and gave my info again. I accidentally have the info for an old card and had my check deposited onto it. Well I no longer get have the card don't have the card number all I have is account and routing number and I cannot for the life of me find where to get this straighten out or even speak to an actual person. Everything leads up to asking for last four digits of the card number and I don't know it. My company can't do anything since it has been deposited and I cannot speak to anyone at Green Dot. I can't afford to lose a whole paycheck especially my 1st one after waiting almost 2 weeks for it. I am really unsatisfied with their lack of customer service.

    Using direct deposit allows me to get my paycheck 2 days ahead of time. It's fantastic and so simple to sign up. All your information is online or you can call and get the information you need.     Ok so I was really happy that Green Dot has a take a picture of the check but now I am kind of in some trouble on some of the other bills I have because it's taking 8 days to verify the check that I got usually direct deposited but I got a bonus check that does not get direct deposited so I decided to use the new feature with the picture the check into my account. Got an email saying that the funds were going to be available shortly but 8 days is a very long time to make sure a check is valid. If it continues I might have to stop my usage of this product. Please do something about this.

    I have had this card for over 10 years. I have had direct deposit and suddenly I am not getting my deposits when I used to. I have called and they say I have to call my employer and have them ok me getting it early? I also get survivor benefits for my daughter but not getting that either.
