I am Quentin **. My info for my card was stolen. Requested new card and now I can't activate my card. It says go to document. Upload and when I enter my card number it's does nothing. I'm highly upset and out of $600???

I call them. Machine says invalid card number even when I got one that has my name in the mail. Online keeps repeating the stupid verify identity then absolute nothing. I lost my money buying this card.

On 11/12/2018 I had to report my card stolen and due to this the Green Dot was suppose to send me replace card in which they took $5 dollars. The card was only suppose to take 7 to 10 days but here it is 11/25/2018 and still no card. I have money in my account that I can't touch and about to get paid again from my job. Customer Service has not been any help with this issue and very worried that my money is going to be lost in their system. I'm not a rich man and I need my money. Not understanding why it's so hard to send me my card so I can get my money.

I traveled to Canada for a family emergency. Prior to my departure, I contacted Green Dot to let them know about my travel itinerary and my final destination where my purchases will be done. The representative informed me that I could use my Green Dot Prepaid Card in Canada. I was concerned because the cardholder's agreement didn't specify which countries were or weren't included for foreign transactions... It just mentions fees and percentage.
Arriving in Canada, it was very stressful but I learned to "not put my eggs on the same basket" when it comes to money. I reserved a car at the airport: my transaction was declined. I was told because of insufficient funds by the Green Dot representative. Yet, my account showed that I had a lot of money: I didn't place any pending transactions and I don't do prepay transaction due to the unreliable experiences I had with banks system showing paycheck after 9 am on payday.
After multiple calls to different representatives, multiple causes of my card was being denied transactions in Canada, one representative finally admitted: "You can't use your card in Canada... It can only be used in USA and its territories!" Nowhere in the Cardholder's Agreement it is mentioned that Canada was excluded. I fill a complaint to every entities possible in USA. Please, forget about Green Dot if you travel outside USA - the VISA logo is a joke! You'll be in for a bad surprise! Unreliable representatives, false information, lies. I closed my account and won't use their prepaid cards!

Updated on 11/28/2018: Today I received credit for one of the cards in question. Hopefully I will receive credit for the one outstanding card. I spoke to them be a email and they say they have no record of the other cards transaction? Which is terrible because the Only time I was able to speak to one of their representatives he assured me that I would get my $100 refund when in 5 to 7 days? Later during our email conversation it was stated it they don't see any record of May speaking to anybody about that matter?
Original Review: 3 days ago and I purchased a Visa and happen to lose it the same day, I've been trying to speak to customer service because I lost the card. I don't have the cards number. There does not seem to be a way to do this! Their automatic teller requires you to have the 1st 6 numbers and the last 4 numbers. Hard to do if you don't have the card? No excuse for large company like that to not allow you to speak to real person!

I was transferred to Green Dot by Apple to help me with a Apple Pay Cash Dispute. Apple said that they would be able to help me with this dispute. But once I got over to Green Dot they told me they couldn’t help me with a dispute. They said I would have to contact the merchant directly at (000)000-0000. I asked the customer rep. if she thought that was a valid number. Her response was, “I’m not sure if it is or isn’t”, I would have to call that number. It’s all zeros. It was oblivious she was talking to me like I was stupid and could care less about the customers. So I asked to speak with a supervisor, she placed me on hold for 30 mins before a supervisor got on the line.

I have been using Green Dot for a while now with no problems until recently. I used my card one day and the next day it declined with my money in there. Called customer service number. Couldn’t reach a live person. Was automated saying my account was closed and hung up. Had to go through Facebook to Messenger and after three days got a response automated as well then two more days later got a voicemail from an three digit number?? But left a voicemail with a number.
Talk to three digit too which was very rude about a fraudulent transaction that wasn’t mine. Emailed my Id as well talk to them again and will not return my money that’s still showing in my closed account with them and basically they are stealing your hard earned money and don’t care. I’m now contacting the State police on them for cyber fraud. They can’t keep doing this to people. With the fake customer service as well. I suggest no one goes with this card. They are frauds and stealers.

Went to order a replacement card since my strip was trashed and they blocked my card, sent me a new card, and blocked that one too. Now there is no way to reach a customer service representative because they refuse to talk to you with a blocked card. Not sure how this company is still running when they keep customers' money locked away with no means of being able to communicate. Worst card service I've ever dealt with.

Paid over $20 for this card, kept saying it was invalid. Called the number, still said it was invalid. It didn't work at all. Not even worth the money paid at all. It also didn't even put all of the money on it, it put around $9 instead of $20. It's a huge scam. Sticking with prepaid cards from now on.

If I could give it NO STARS I would. This card was the worst idea I ever had. AS SOON as I got the card and activated it they charged me a “monthly maintenance fee”. I can NEVER talk to a real person, you have to send them a picture of the front AND back of your ID before you can even use the card at all. Once you start using it they will freeze your account and say “it’s because of fraud” when it’s not. Even if you tell them it’s not they will still freeze your account until they “finish their investigation”. Meanwhile you can’t make transactions on it so you will continue to rack up fees. It’s one giant scam that I wish I never took part in.

I placed an online using order using my Green Dot pre-paid card. Within 45 minutes of placing the order the merchant cancelled due to not being in stock. I received an email stating order was cancelled and I was not charged. However, the funds came off my pre-paid card. When I called Green Dot I was told the funds would be refunded in 10 days. I called the merchant and they said they cancelled the monies on their end immediately. When I asked the Green Dot rep who else I could speak with or a complaint dept she said there was nobody else for me to speak with. I am trying to find out if this is normal policy. I cannot understand why it would take that long to give the consumer back their funds.

I get a direct deposit EVERY Thursday in my card, and this has been going on for years and now that it's Thanksgiving morning and I need my money. There is no deposit! Talk to customer service and they give me all sorts of stories then tell me they don't see my employer paid me this week and I would have to call them. Yea like I believe my employer did not pay me, and just like last year the funds will be there Friday instead of Thursday! Second time this has happened on Thanksgiving and they could care less. They are very rude and horrible to talk to. I have this card so that half my check is at least a day earlier than my regular account but it's not worth it to deal with this.
I will be doing Thanksgiving on Friday this year when I get paid, horrible company to work with and I am done! I know my employer paid me. I have the proof and they just lie. Oh and another thing, I went to my heart DR in July and paid the 50 dollar fee over the app. Now I am being billed 50 dollars from my Dr saying they never got the 50 and I needed to pay it! Customer service tells me it's paid and there is nothing they can do about it, there has to be, it's out of my acct but they don't have it! Yea I am over it... Don't use this company. It's just one big runaround.

I have never had an issue with Green Dot, until now. I have always received my deposit Wednesday night Thursday morning no later than 4 am. Despite "FEDERAL" holidays. I needed my deposit to travel on Thanksgiving. It never came. Everyone in my office received theirs on Wednesday... Despite their different banks. Veterans Day is a Federal holiday. Had no issues. Labor day Federal holiday... No issues. But Thanksgiving... One of the most important holidays... And on top of it Customer Service could not explain why. Then block me from calling. I'm going to a bank next week. And tell everyone about this.

Ordered a card online Nov 1st and still haven't received it. Direct deposit is going through and now I have no access to my money. Customer support phone has no live person to talk to and would send a new card. Was forced to use/join social media sites, which I hate using and it still took 5 1/2 hours for a response. The response, send new card which I will receive in 7 business days. They said that 3 weeks ago. They have my money and I don't.

I called a few days ago to dispute and stop a monthly payment from coming out of my card. I tried to stop it thru the vendor directly but kept getting no response from them. We got it figured out. She recommended that I should get a new card. I said I didn't want one because it's only 1 transaction that I have an issue with. I went to the store to buy something and my card declined. I logged into my account and I do have money on it. Then I saw that they sent a new card. Now I don't know how to get my money out so I can buy the rest of the groceries I need for Thanksgiving. I never had any issues with them until now.

When there's an unauthorized transaction on your account it takes them 45 to 60 days to refund your money. The customer service sucks, everyone gives you different answers when there's a problem. Overall worst experience ever and will never do business with Green Dot again.

I have been trying to get them to stop payment on a bill pay item I set up on 11/1, and still hasn't been received by the payee 20 days later. I started calling on 11/15 and ZERO resolution. It takes less than 5 minutes for the least competent person in banking to put a stop payment on an item, and return the funds to the account. Really irate at this point!

Had this account for years. Someone fraudulently used my card. They blocked my account and said I could access my funds when the new card came. New card came and still can't get my money and when I call customer service it keeps disconnecting me. NEVER GO WITH GREEN DOT. THEY'RE FULL OF **.

Basically in a nutshell been trying to load a $500 MoneyPak card for a week now... MoneyPak which is owned by Green Dot or both a scam. They jam up your card purposely to get interest rate. I don't know what else to think... but all is well. I'm just waiting for a call from a technical team. They admit my MoneyPak card is good. The money is on it. It's not been used and my Green Dot card is good. Everything is good they say except I don't have my $500. So MP & GD are shady AF. If anybody from MoneyPak or Green Dot is reading this and could possibly straighten this out for me I'm all ears. How about just load my MoneyPak onto my card for me but y'all can't do that because it's an internet-based blah blah blah. WTF ever. I'm at ** for 1 more day at least. My service ends midnight tomorrow ...because I'm broke now thanks to GREEN DOT.

I purchase a MoneyPak. All the information was done correctly then their system said that there was fraud involved with the Moneypak and I needed to request a refund. Now my $500 is Sitting In Limbo. There's absolutely zero customer service for MoneyPak. The customer service at Green Dot was absolutely zero help since they hung up on me twice. Would not let me speak to a manager. I have had so much trouble in the recent past with Green Dot that I am seriously debating canceling my account after almost 5 years. Their customer service will be the end of Green Dot and if I don't receive my $500 in 2 weeks I will spend $5,000 to get it back just to prove I'm not a pushover and they can't get away with whatever they want. They have offered me no recourse to the problems I've had and have been rude every time I spoke with them. What a shame. Just ridiculous.

I'm very concerned and upset that Green Dot bank has blocked me from my account and funds after I just got paid and the holidays are coming up. I've been using the same card for years with no issues until this major issue now. I have bills to pay and children to take care of and work hard for my money. No one will talk to me over the phone and help me to understand what is going on! I need answers and access to my hard earned money!

I received a direct deposit for financial aid from the college I attend. The deposit was marked as suspicious and the account was frozen. I have sent my state ID, school ID, and a letter confirming the direct deposit to the fraud department. The customer services reps are rude and have no compassion at all. I am a tax preparer and in the past have advised many clients to use Green Dot cards, I will not do this in the future. My direct deposit was over 5000.00 and I really need my money. What they are doing has to be illegal on some level. Every time I call customer service I am put on hold and then told the same thing every time, they request the documents that I have already sent them 7 times. Do not use this card.

Trolled the internet for contact info. Finally get ahold of someone and not a recording and I got hung up on. Then I have to go through what seemed to be 3 or 4 reps. Become what I thought was going to be some help and I get directed to a web page that I could never access. And that was this morning and now it's 4:30 and still no change. All I want is to upload my ID so I can get my refund that was credited back to my account that is still locked. And if that's not bad enough the new card they issued me is locked too because they linked it to the old account. Frustrated. Omg. Help.

This company does not offer any consumer protections for disputes with merchants. Every card company I’ve used, whether credit or debit, has offered the ability to dispute a charge with the merchant if the product was billed but not received. Green Dot specifically only permits disputes for unauthorized purchases and does NOT permit disputes for authorized charges where the services/goods were not delivered.

Went to Walmart to load my card amount 60.00 to purchase a gift for a baby shower. The money was loaded at 8:21. Went to pay for the gift. It declined. I called Green Dot and the man told me he could not find where I loaded money and that I would have to wait few hours. Okay a few hours have come and gone, now he tells me that I can get a refund but I will have to wait 2 weeks. On the phone as we speak and no one will take my call. What kind of customer service is this!!! These foreigners is really disgusting and pernicious... I will be deactivating this card and they will not have to worry about stealing my money!! 11/14/2018.

I loaded $50 on a Green Dot card. I tried reloading the card that I just bought and I could not reload. Called the 1-866 number to speak to someone. You can't even get to a live person unless you press lost or stolen card or did not receive card in mail. Their customer service is horrible. I told customer service that I need to use the card today and add the amount that I need and I hear is "I am sorry. We can send you out a check." First off did I pay you with a check? I paid you cash so you should give back what was given. I WILL NEVER EVER, EVER USE GREEN DOT PREPAID OR ANYTHING THAT THIS COMPANY IS A PART OF... I give 0 star. Bad customer service. Bad manager manners... Just bad!!!

I bought my adult son a Green Dot prepaid card for a trip he is making so that he can budget his funds while away from home. The plan was for me to reload the card weekly. We registered the temporary card and send pictures of his license to verify his identity. After sending pictures of his license, we received an email that they couldn't verify him and the card would never be reloadable. I attempted to call to resolve the issue, but cannot reach a human and can only get information that is not useful. I then emailed and received the same response as well as the customer service person who responded can't view the reasons why. I feel as though the customer service is non existent and this was a waste of money. There is no way to actually resolve an issue such as this. The budgeting solution that we should have for some very high fees isn't existent and no one at the company will assist.

I have used Green Dot for years and haven't really had any problems with them until recently. I've had to buy some MoneyPaks while traveling and while I went to go try to load them it said that there was an issue or suspicious activity due to previous load attempt so I tried to have a friend load under their card so they could give me the cash. I tried everything and it will not work. All it says it I can do is request a refund. So I requested a refund and the 1st few refunds that I requested well I only got 2 out of 3 checks. And I have several more Green cards that I had loaded... it's kind of my savings account.
When I try to load those it does the same thing and now instead of getting checks I'm getting letters from Green not saying they don't think it was used for its intended purposes and disseminate a receipt along with my card. While I do not keep the receipts not all of them anyway. I travel a lot for a living and anytime I have extra money I go ahead and buy one of those load packs so I can save money for the future. And now it seems Green has stolen that money and will not give it back.

Green Dot Cards are used by a few employees at our company. Green Dot has been known to make up a random issue and call it 'suspected fraud'. They'll then block the user's access to their money. Additionally, they will 'freeze' any money deposited into that account and make the user's SSN unrecognized by the system. Doing this prevents the user from not only accessing their money but also prevents them from getting through to customer service. Customer service requests are only processed with a valid 16 digit card number and/or the member's SSN. Once they claim a suspected fraud, the card number and SSN become invalid entries on all Green Dot Systems. We've been fighting the release of over 1200.00 on one member's account for over two months now. There is no recourse available to record valid grievances against Green Dot. CAUTION:.. DO NOT USE GREEN DOT IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR MONEY.

They have failed to send my card to me and made it impossible for me to log into my account over the phone or online. The system no longer recognizes my information. Due to monthly service fees the longer they hold the funds the less money they have to give to me. It's been 10 months... this is theft not a service!!! So I finally got ahold of a representative after weeks of trying to find a number and they told me my account was temporarily blocked due to a MoneyPak fraud. I questioned him on when and how this happened because I was not aware of this. He could not give me a straight answer. MoneyPak is the only way to load cards so I don’t know what they expect you to do.

Pick a different prepaid card. I called 3 weeks ago to dispute a transaction on my account. The lady on the phone that I hardly couldn’t understand shut my account and told me my reminding balance will be sent to me. That’s been 3 weeks ago still haven’t received it. Not only did a stranger got into my account Green Dot going to keep the rest I guess. This company is so messed it unreal. Oh they send me a nasty letter turning it around on me and as if it was my fault it happen. I will never use this company again.

My account has been blocked for months. I basically received my personalized card and activated it. As soon as I did that my account was blocked. I sent my driver's license pic as asked to do and still nothing. I have read so many similar reviews. I think they do this in order to steal people's money hoping we will just forget about it. When I signed up for the Walmart Money Card it came with my personalized card and a pre-filled direct deposit form. On the form there was a Routing number and a Direct Deposit Account Number which was 17 digits (and the form also stated “last 4 digits of card is **). I submitted that form to my employer so I could get direct deposit. I got one direct deposit on 10/25 from my employer. On 11/1/18 my second direct deposit never showed up so I called Green Dot and they told me to get a trace number from my employer (my employer does not have trace numbers for direct deposits) and they also told me to interact with the automated service to get my routing and account number.
Once I put in my info for the automated service it gave me a 13 digit account number that was totally different than what the paper said. So now today on 11/8/2018 my 3rd check went to this same account that I was told was invalid by a Green Dot rep. I am out of $410 because Green Dot issues me the wrong account number and the money has yet to be returned to my employer. I have and will keep on complaining to every bureau and platform that I can until someone gets my money back! This was a part of my rent money and now I have to worry about an eviction on top of not having my funds! I will never use a Green Dot product again.

I loaded $40 on a Green Dot card. Set up all my I do online. I tried doing a purchase online. Declined. Had the card, never used it. Went to do an actual store purchase. Declined. It was $40 so I WAS REALLY IN A HURRY TO CALL GREEN DOT. I tried calling Green Dot and by my surprise no money on my card and couldn’t reload card. But wouldn’t connect me to customer service. All Automated. Do not load money on this card. Cannot get ahold of anyone when you need to. I would give it no stars but I cannot. I have it mark a star. :(

This all started with my dog eating my card, I called for a replacement in the beginning of the month and never received anything so I called again after waiting 2 weeks for the card to show up and paid a $4.95 fee to become one of their VIP members and expedited shipping... boy was that BS. It was never received again. Not to mention every time I call they say, "You will receive this in 7 days" then I have tell them this was expedited. I have gotten several different answers from multiple people. I was told it would come on 11/1. Never came. 11/2 never came. 11/3 never came. 11/5 still not here and I have been told I would be contacted by a supervisor. That has not happened either. It has been over a month I have no card and Green Dot cannot get me a tracking number for the card nor my money in their bank. They have made me late for rent and other bills. All I can say is I hope they have a great attorney because I am coming after them.

Purchased a Walmart Visa Gift Card around the holidays. Finally went to use it in May 2018 only to find out that there were two charges on the card that I did not make. I immediately cancelled the card and submitted a dispute. I received a partial reimbursement on the balance that was left on the card at the time I cancelled the card. Then in August I emailed them to find out the status of my dispute, which they never answered. In the interim I had been checking the balance on my card here and there, and finally in the beginning of October I saw that the funds for the two charges I disputed were returned to the card but the card has been cancelled so I cannot use the funds.
I called them on 10/9/18 to ask why wasn't a check sent instead of the funds being put back on the card they explained that the merchant returned the funds and did not know that the card had been cancelled. They submitted a request for the funds to be sent to me via check and that I should receive in two weeks. Two weeks go by and nothing, so I call again on 10/23/18 and they explained that the request was denied for some reason. They resubmitted and told me again to wait for two weeks. I keep checking the balance on the card and see that the funds are still available so I know that they haven't processed the return. I don't understand why my original request was denied. The funds are clearly showing as available and I cancelled the card so the funds should be returned to me. Although the customer service reps have always been courteous I am annoyed by the fact that this taking longer than it should to be resolved.

I don't like this card and I am getting rid of it after being a cardholder for so long. Between the monthly fees and the fee every time I have to put money on my card I am losing money and I am fed up with it. I will never recommend this card to anyone. As a long standing customer, I believe that Green Dot should provide one set of complimentary checks, other than having to pay for them... I believe too that Green dot should remove some ATM fees. Also, as a client Greendot could provide some loans, such as car, home and some additional services. That would be great...

I think the card is good. I use it just for online purchases but it's kind of expensive and I might look for a cheaper one. Last week I added some money and Meijer charged me $4.95 to add money. That never happened before! When I first got the card I was charged $3, but only the first time I loaded money to the card.

Well I got this card so I could pull my check out two days early. I loved the card until you decided what I can do with my money. I have pulled my whole check off the card for at least seven months and now all the sudden I can't. I don't think it's fair at all so I am probably going to switch to a different card that I can take it all out in one day. I am looking around now. I have direct deposit so it might take a bit to change all of that but I am not happy with Green Dot anymore. I have tried to change my phone number and no one ever gets back to me.

We already pay you 10 Dollars a month For your service. We Should NOT be Charged Another fee just because we take money out of an ATM along with their Fee. My family bought me a MoneyPak to load my debit card. The card failed to load so I called customer service and they informed me I reached the maximum limit in 30 days to load the card but if I have a friend's card I can load to load that. I tried to load my friend's card and it was denied for suspicious activity. Now I need my family to request a refund because I tried to load my friend's card like customer service advised me.

I’ve used Green Dot a couple times but never as a main source for my income. I like the ease of getting my Direct deposit a day early and also being able to write checks with this account. Paying my bills on time has been awesome with the Pay MyBill feature and now being able to stash money away in a separate account within my account has been great! Also loving the fact that I can earn cash back as it’s a nice bonus to have $100 to use at the end of the year. It would be great if we could increase this amount! Green Dot has been beneficial to me getting back on my feet with my finances and being able to take control once again!

I love the savings/stash option now! The only things I wish were improved is maybe the app itself. It’s a little dated looking and the transactions option it’s fabulous. You can’t look for certain dates, you have to sift through and it doesn’t even have a lengthy amount of transactions that you’re able to view. I’m also wondering about how everything is going to chip reader now and how that will affect things.

I have tried, numerous times (more than 5) to send in information about apparently fraudulent charges. I gave my card info for "FREE" verification service and I had the following charges: 10/30/18 TRANSUSER.COM Purchase (Pending ) - $1.00. 11/1/18 CNTMVE.COM Purchase - $39.99. 10/31/18 HGFSTV COM Purchase - $39.99. Each time I tried to send it, the site says it is unable to process at this time. I am disgusted with the problem, as I have tried at all hours of the day and night. Can someone contact me via email and solve this issue? If it is resolved, it would significantly improve the rating. I might also note that I received a very delayed response to a questionable charge attempt which I actually made, so it wasn't until I returned from an 11 day trip that I discovered the problem and got the card reinstated.

I love the card. It's helped me many times. However, if there's one thing I can request to improve would be to have more cash back with my purchases. $100 annually is great but, once I hit $100 it stops. And it doesn't take long for me to get to that point. I wish there was potential to earn more cash back at the end of the year because it would be more of an incentive to use my card more often, rather than use my American Express. Where I do earn cash back all year long. Especially since I don't have direct deposit through my card I have to pay $5 to reload it every time. That would be ok if I knew I was getting money back for my purchases via card payment. Thanks for reading.

I have been a Green Dot customer for 8 - 9 years, with no issues. However, I purchased a MoneyPak on 10/28/18 at 9:23 am. It is now 11/01/18 at 10:02 pm and I have been unable to load MY money to MY Green Dot Card. I have lost count of the attempts to load the card. I always get the same "Deposit Failed" message. I have lost count of the number of phone calls I have made, I have lost count of how many Customer Service people I have spoken with, I have lost count of how many times I have answered the same questions, I have lost count of how many times the customer service rep has read to me the exact same reply from their script. Yet, I have no answers as to why I can't load MY money to my card.
They have verified that both my MoneyPak and Green Dot are good and valid. I have been hung up on and blocked from calling Customer Service, yes I am angry and just curious as to how they can sleep at night, but I have never used any bad language or been disrespectful. I have actually been biting my tongue! I just want MY MONEY! I promise if they would just give me MY money they will never hear from me again as I will never use MoneyPak or Green Dot again!

Non Disclosure: I purchased this card with the express purpose of paying for a particular purchase online. After calling in to register providing personal information through their automated system. I was told they were unable to verify my information and that the card was activated but could only be used at POS purchases. The only reason I purchased the card was to use one time online and nowhere on the packaging does it say you can't. The packaging says this card is available to use immediately after registering. They use subterfuge, automated customer service and slick wrappers to trick you into purchasing. I was able to reach their corporate offices and requested immediate cancellation of this useless card and my refund. DON'T BUY THIS CARD, IT'S A SCAM and the customer service numbers are useless. THEY WILL GATHER SENSITIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION AND SELL IT.

This makes the third time within a week that I've tried to transfer money from my vault onto my card for spending and once I'm transferred it disappears and is never on my card and is never heard from again. I've tried calling Green Dot helpline to no avail and it is getting real tiresome.

I purchased two MoneyPaks to upload $700 because the max is $500.00. I tried to access my funds on the Green Dot website. It required me to upload my driver's license. I did it not only once but several times, as I got prompts saying the image was not clear. So I went through this over and over, then finally got "upload successful." But when I tried to access my funds to transfer to PayPal and pay bills - I got messages saying my ID was not verified.
So I went through this over and over. I gave up and tried to call. THAT was a nightmare. Only through a Google search was I finally able to get a phone number that finally got to someone live to speak with. That became another nightmare. Now they're saying that it will take 2 days to verify my id. That's funny - it didn't take them even 2 minutes to take my $700 at CVS. But I have to have MY money floating in cyberspace for two days???!!! WHAT A SCAM OPERATION! DO NOT USE OR TRUST GREEN DOT. EVER. GREEN DOT GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY!!!

Purchased a card to help son during a college financial issue. (It's college...it happens). Figured that he could get the funds immediately on his debit card. On Saturday at 1:30pm we purchased the card. He set up the account shortly after. First, it couldn't verify his phone number. It has been his phone number for 11 years. We kept trying and trying to get it to work. Finally at 12:30am (yes...almost 12 hours later) his phone number is verified and he's able to transfer the funds.
On Wednesday we send him more money. Once again, we buy a MoneyPak assuming that his phone number was verified, he should be fine...WRONG! Now it wants him to verify his ID. He sends a copy and it's denied. Said they can't read it. He sends another picture this time closer...and again it's denied. SERIOUSLY??? This is absolutely ridiculous. Just exactly who are they protecting??? Because honest hard working Americans are not being treated right. There is no reason this should be this difficult. And, when there is difficulty, there is no way to contact anyone. Terrible customer service. Terrible company. Terrible product.

My experience with Green Dot has been nothing short of awful! They've locked my account without me knowing and I had to wait almost 7 days for my account to be unlocked. The issue was a few charges totaling less than $1 that I called to report. The customer service rep who helped me thought the only solution would be to reissue me another card. Which was fine at first but the rep neglected to tell me that reissuing a new card would cause my account to be locked and I would not be able to have access to my funds. This would've been important to know as I didn't have cash on me, and who can go 7 days without spending money? I couldn't get gas, or necessary things for the 7 days.
When I called to express my frustration to Green Dot their customer service representatives were unable to tell me why I wasn't informed that my account would be locked or were they able to provide solutions. I was then forced to borrow money to live while my hard earned money was locked away with Green Dot. Secondly, I am currently going through an issue where apparently Green Dot LOST my direct deposit! And I have to now wait 3-5 days for this issue to be resolved! The problem lies that I get direct deposits weekly from my employer and if there's an issue that needs to be resolved I WON'T have the information to pass on to my employer in time for next week's check. When trying to explain this to the customer service rep she was UNABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH ANY SOLUTION OTHER THAN OH WELL YOU JUST GOT TO WAIT!!!
With each call you're asked if you want to take a survey. Who does this feedback go to? How can I contact someone personally that my voice will have an impact with?! Do you really value my feedback? Or do you only listen to the good surveys? If I have one suggestion for a future card holder, think twice!! If this is your only financial option then, try your luck. But 1. Always keep cash. 2. Understand that nothing happens quickly with Green Dot. 3. No one really helps you, they just field your call to some other department that they can't reach directly. I would love to speak with someone directly regarding my concerns and experience!

I have disputed transactions 5 times with this company and have been denied. Sent paperwork in showing I was in the hospital and they want receipts. Got a lawyer now trying to get my money back. AWFUL! This is absurd. We now have contacted the ATM company who a lot of transactions were performed through and got a letter from them stating the standings of the investigation which they found in my favor. Green Dot, on the other hand, wants receipts that I would not have because I did not do the transactions.
This is bad in so many ways because now I had to hire an attorney to go through mediation to get funds that I know are mine. Now, I will have to pay a lawyer to do what Green Dot could have done at first, and that gives me my money back. This is overall the worst experience ever with anyone that I have dealt with. I have sent letters from doctors, discharge papers showing how long I was in the hospital, insurance statements showing the same days of service, police reports, and this is still not good enough per Green Dot's Claims Department.

The card says "Simple fees. Nothing hidden." on the back. The underneath is a huge bunch of not simple, hidden fees. I thought whatever, it's a prepaid card, annoying but fine, I'll pay them what, some outrageous 2 bucks for this nonsense when they have no overhead. Then I look and it says 7.95 per month. Wait... what? It's a prepaid card? Whatever, fine, 10 bucks, totally outrageous, but I need it to buy things online.
Then I activate the thing, and the site crashes "error, technical problem, try again later"... then I go back and it says the card has already been registered. Then I try to use it online and it declines it. Then I find out, they have one customer service number, with no representatives and they just simply say "we can't verify your social security number so the card cannot be used online"... WHAT? That's the whole point. Then they have a physical mailing address for you to complain or a "feedback" email that they say they'll get back to you in a couple days. These people are just scammers stealing people's personal information and hoping that a few people are too lazy to get refunds for their ripoff cards. I can't believe they sell these at CVS.

Recently I decided to make a phone card payment by putting some cash on one of these gift cards. I purchased the gift card in CVS. Green Dot has ad saying their card can be used to pay bills online, etc. In short- it promises ease-of-use for anything, just any other card could be used. It also says something about upgrading your card so you can reuse it again, but that you would have to do that online.
When I attempted to make my payment for AT&T, it had all kinds of problems. I called the number on the back to see if the amount I loaded was there. It was. I still had problems. Eventually, I couldn’t use it with my phone company. I’ve then discovered, that you cannot in fact, make easy payments online with this card unless… You sign up for their program that allows you to refill the card.
So I decided to give it a try. Only to discover that it required that I had to give my Social Security number. Sorry, I just don’t feel comfortable putting my Social Security number out there with gift card companies. Long story short, the card cannot be used AS ADVERTISED unless you sign up for their program. It’s just not right that they do that. In my opinion… There needs to be an investigation regarding false advertising.

Updated on 11/13/2018: I did my taxes on TurboTax and my refund was supposed to be put on a Green Dot Prepaid Credit card. I never received the Credit Card and They told me my funds are depleted. So I wrote the Better Business Bureau and Green Dot responded with a phone number to contact. And if you dial it no one answers and it goes to a voicemail that says, "We are only open from 9-5" and to try later and it hangs up. My refund was over $3000. Must be nice to steal from people who had plans for that money. I would never recommend using TurboTax or Green Dot. Their customer service sucks.

I recently had some fraudulent activity on my card, and called the bank IMMEDIATELY when I woke up on the date this occurred 10/19/18. They told me I had to wait until the charges posted to my account. Fine. I waited, and when they did, I filed a dispute. I sent in a police report and any relevant information I could gather from the charges, which totaled over $827. I was told today, 10 days after the charges, that the dispute is denied. Now, I’m having to try to find a lawyer to recover my money that was never authorized to begin with. This is terrible and put me in a horrible situation, after I’ve been trying to repair my credit for months, this has set me back yet again. Don’t recommend this to anyone.

I received two 500.00 MoneyPaks from my Brother-in-law. The MoneyPaks were purchased to help make payments towards my Granddaughter's School clothes. Four times I provided my Personal information online to obtain a Secure Login for the Green Dot MoneyPak website. Four times the site failed due to technical problems. The fifth time my Info. went through and Hurray I was approved. I was sent a nice official email congratulating me on obtaining my secure login and explaining that I would now be able to load the MoneyPaks to my card or a friends.
I login. I apply the MoneyPak number and also my card number. Pop-up said deposit failed due suspicious activity from a prior load attempt and cannot be deposited to a card. Please request refund. So I did. Pop-up message again this time said, "Sorry we cannot process a refund with the information provided. Try again!" I Filled out all proper info. Nothing left blank. So what's to try again? They provide no further instructions, contact info, tips, tricks, advice, nothing. I guess in their world they win and keep your money. Severely Flawed. Yes you guessed it. Same thing for both Paks. I think I'm going to launch a campaign with a couple of friends and about 100 bots. To tell a summarized version of this theft at least a billion times across the internet. Because it isn't slander when it's true. I have all Screenshots to back my claims.

Well I lost my card then I canceled it. I paid $5 for a new one Then I paid $15 for a three day shipment via FedEx then I tried to activate my card and they told me to send a copy of my ID via email. My SSI is deposited into my account which helps me pay my rent and my rent is due NOW! They are withholding my government funds in which a law firm told me and social service department said They can't by law. They have done this to me before and I lost my place because of it. Updated on 10/29/2018: I finally got a hold of an representative and they informed me that they closed my account and I have to wait weeks for refund check in the mail. Which is not right whatsoever. I didn't even have the option to close the account and I am a single mom. I need my money now not in a few weeks. I already waited over a month. Worst experience ever.

Talked to the same female- told her the same info- she checked the refill pak it was still good- she said to go load it! I told her I couldn't load it! I had her take off all additional cards from my account. Went and tried to load it again- same thing! I called her back- she said I needed to make a secure login on the MoneyPak site! I did that about 20 times and it kept saying the information wasn't saved to do it again!
At about the twentieth time and after it continuously said it didn't do a secure login profile and to do it again- it said there was already a profile with that info and to login! So I tried repeatedly to login to no avail. I couldn't figure out the right password because I kept switching it up to make sure that wasnt why I couldn't get a secure login account. Then it froze my account because of too many attempts to login with the incorrect password! So I tried to call her back to get help and a recording asked if I was calling for the same reason because it noticed I had already called a few times. I said that it was the same reason! It said to listen and choose the option that come closest to my reason for calling! There was nothing close so I tried about every option to try to talk to customer service and was blocked! To me that is very BAD BUSINESS!!!
When someone has money invested in a product of a company- that company should go above and beyond to help solve any problem a customer may have! The last thing they should be doing is ignoring customers or making them feel their money is being ripped off! I personally was pretty upset at the way I was treated and as a result they have probably lost a customer that spent quite a bit of money with them! Word of mouth travels fast around here and we're all real serious about our money! We don't have enough to wait until someone is good and ready to give our money back! I live on a very limited income and I don't have time to play games! So I feel her actions tonight were very outta line!!!
If she doesn't feel like doing the job then perhaps you should get somebody in there that does- if not I would be willing to bet you that you're going to lose a lot of customers- and a lot of money! I'm sure PayPal wouldn't complain too much about getting all this business that y'all are evidently not caring anything about! I just want the stuff to work right- and if it doesn't- I didn't know that asking for help was too much trouble or you wouldn't have had my business to begin with!! Perhaps you should add the truth of your actions in the description of your services and let people decide if thats what they really want to take a chance on it?!? Good day!

I tried to call him back today and take a deep breath and try to see if I can get them to work with me on this once again. They did not want to help me at all. He refused to help me. They told me lies last night employees everything last night and then lady has it as to tell me she's going to just hang up the phone on me now. I've never been treated so ** by one company before. Under cardholder agreement it clearly states that they can transfer a balance to another card. You don't want to do that. They refuse to do it for some reason. I don't understand why they keep on telling me that now my refund will be processed and should take 2 weeks to be processed. Now it's in 2 weeks to be a check now so just holding on to my money. They don't want to help out it all. I've never been treated this bad.

I've been using Green Dot for months and have not had any problems, But today I deposited $320 onto my account, and 4 hours later I have not received my money. I went back to 7-Eleven to complain, and they showed me on the receipt that the transaction went through, then I called Green Dot and they told me that they have an error with their system and that I was not able to receive my money because of it. I was told to spend at least $1 to see if their system will reset on their end... I have names, employee numbers, and a case #. This is unprofessional and wrong.

I made a purchase with HSN on the 24th of October. The merchant HSN cancelled my purchase and sent notification to Green Dot. I contacted Green Dot on 10/25 and was advised the I have to wait til 11/7 to get my money back, the payment is pending. I contact HSN and they ask for me to give it until 10/27 and if they have not released my funds to call them back and they will send another communication that the pay My is canceled. I check this morning no refund so I call HSN. While I’m on the phone the 2nd communication is sent to Green Dot. Mind you this has bothered me so bad that I read their terms and conditions last night and nowhere does it say you have to wait 12 days to get your money back if a Merchant cancels your order!!!
So I call Green Dot today and they tell me they have no way to communicate the transaction with the merchant!!?? What!!! You knew to take the money. I’m filing a lawsuit on this company. This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. They just keep saying, "We can help you after 11/7..." Nowhere in the terms does it state this!!! Monday talking with an attorney period.

I loaded my card and started to use it. I noticed extra money was missing so I checked online and notice a strange $1.50 pos domestic fee per transaction. I made online purchases as well as in store. Not sure why I'm unable to get in contact with these people. Im no longer going to used their unsecured credit card. This was terrible to experience all those fees and no one can speak to you in regards to any your concerns. Don't use this company at all. Hidden fees no customer service to speak to whatsoever. No one to mail you back.

Why does it take an additional 2 business days to unlock it? If you lock someone from their money, you should have a way to immediately unlock it. How can I pay my bills. Will be filing a BBB report. You need to change this practice.

Never have I had any issues until today. So my employment check has been deposited, and to my surprise any transactions I try to place are declined. It's going on 2 hours and I still can't get anyone on the phone. This is horrible and unacceptable. Available funds and I'm unable to pay my bills. Rent is due. Come on Green Dot!!! Really!!!

I've been using Green Dot for a few months now and I haven't had too many problems. However today after loading my card with over $100.00, and I got to the register to pay for a $2.00 purchase, my card was declined!! I tried contacting customer service and I just keep getting hung up on!! This is sick!! I have bills to pay and this happens?! Do you know how embarrassing and aggravating that is?!! SMH. Never will I deal with this bank again!! Give me my money!!

I had never had a problem with Green Dot until I lost my Uber Debit Green Dot card. I called them to advise them that I lost my card and could they send me a new one. They then blocked my account for no reason and made me upload my driver's license and email it over 17 times and it has still yet to be reviewed. I will never recommend them. It has been a nightmare. I am still waiting. If I didn't need my money I would cut my losses.

I have been going through Green Dot for five years. Never had a problem. Have my paycheck direct deposited and my worker's compensation deposited. Recently I misplaced my card and then realized to get a new card I would have to change my address because I had moved a year prior. So they sent me new card and it is blocked and I cannot get it unblocked and 3000.00 is in limbo. I don't know what to do... Do I file a complaint with the attorney general? How long does that take to get my card unblocked? I have bills to pay and this is ridiculous! They wanted me to upload my ID and I did like 20 times and they are saying each one was not accepted. Seriously. WTF!!! What do I do now? I need my money like yesterday.

On October 18th I paid a bill with the wrong card. I quickly called the merchant and had them reverse that transaction for $344. I waited 24 hrs to see if the funds would reflect my balance. NOPE. So I called that Friday just to make sure whether it was going to post as a credit or a refund "Ann" said "sorry it's still pending BUT it will post 10/22/2018." October 23 I call back and told them that the transaction was now showing NOWHERE on my account, to which they replied "no but it is showing on my end still pending maam. Please call back on the 25th so we can file a dispute if the funds have not yet appeared on your account."
UPDATE TO TODAY AS WE SPEAK -- "oh it was credited the 21st/22nd because I added all your transactions ONE BY ONE." I said "NOPE. IT WAS NOT. I NEED A SUPERVISOR. I'M NOT DOING THIS"... NOTE: I added funds myself through PayPal, to get bills paid etc so about $700. I watched my numbers like a hawk. It's now been 30 minutes. This is beyond ridiculous!!!

I host retreats for my business. I use WeTravel as a booking agent. This was my first time transferring money from them to my Green Dot account. They use Stripe to issue payouts, and Stripe processes the payouts as "refunds," even though that is not what they really are. Green Dot froze my account because there was no original transaction to match the refund to. I get that, I am okay with that. BUT what I don't understand is that NO ONE will speak to me about how to fix this problem. All they keep saying to me is they need an original sales receipt for the purchase from We Travel where I have been refunded--even though I DO NOT HAVE ONE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SALE!
I have tried to call and have been transferred to automated lines that have nothing to do with what I am calling about or hung up on. They send me back the same generic emails over and over again, and will not tell me what I need to clear this problem up, even after I have tried to explain there is no original sale. I have emailed them over 10 times and now they are not even responding to my emails. I have to leave for my retreat next Friday and I have over $1000 tied up in this account. I have NO idea how to resolve this, even though I have sent them a list of questions from WeTravel asking what information they need.
I am so frustrated. They said they would have a manager call one day, but I homeschool my children and work and I cannot sit by the phone from 8-5 wondering when they will call. I want to know why I can't just call and speak to someone. Why they aren't helping me unfreeze my account. What happens if I can't unfreeze my account? Will they return the money to WeTravel? Why is my whole account frozen and not just this transaction? I have NO answers. I can't even close my account. This is my money and I kind of feel like them not giving it back to me or WeTravel is theft! I will NEVER use Green Dot again.

I had a fraudulent purchase on my card on Oct. 5th. I called Green Dot and was told I would have the funds Oct. 19th. I have called several times and now I was told it would be November 8th I would receive funds. I did some research myself to where this transaction was, Green Dot was refunded my money on November 18th. It is now Oct. 26th. I have used Green Dot for over 10 yrs. I will not be doing business with them any longer!!!

Their hypersensitive "security" will drive you nuts and then their customer service to resolve your problems will drive you over the edge. The most incredibly inconvenient set up I have ever been exposed to. I have used the card just once and on a second purchase and a second money transfer into my account by the same person who opened my account in the first place it triggered the "enhanced" security program freezing and blocking the account. I am in my second week of fixing this BS with absolutely no help, replies or emails from Green Dot. I can't even access the lousy thousand bucks that's in there now. It's outrageous. I can't wait to have this behind me and they as well.

Long story short it's been three months now my new Uber bank card Green Dot... I had limited money. I worked really hard. I made good money. As soon I transfer my Uber account into Green Dot card last 4 of card ** every penny I put to work to cash out so I could pay few bills and invest the rest on my Uber driving. But Green Dot blocked account for no reason. When called they say they need pay stubs and my driver licence so I provide to verifymydocs@greendot.com. They say it will take 3 to 5 business days. They didn't gave me reason why my account is blocked. I waited. I couldn't work. 10 days passed by. I called them. They say 3 more days - then 2 days after - then 24 hours and then nothing happen. I kept calling. It was going to recording message. I lost my place. My wife went to her mother's and I start in living in car.
I kept calling them. They keep changing the story but after 3 months now they say, "Email you send was wrong." so I still been patient and polite. The email they say is verifymydocs@greendotcorp.com then I called after three days. They say it's wrong email again. They say it's verifymydocs@greendot.org. I understand they are playing with me and I see my account they already have garnish 9 dollar every month to protect my account and I know they cheated me for over 900 dollar. I am still today living in my car. I seriously wish I never had this company. And never seen any company doing fraud like that in United States and never get caught but I hope my this letter get to someone.
Someone one out there reads this my name is Nabiyun. That was my chance to do something better for my family and now I'm back in struggle and today I cursed them from my heart - these people, this company. It will take me another 4 months to gather money and get back on my feets but never ever will trust such a company debit cards which are hanging on lock stores. I bet all the other review are made ups 'cause if they can do me there are many out there they have destroyed but that one person who can make difference have them pay for it and shut them down. My heart will be in peace.

I had stayed at a hotel over the weekend. The receptionist at the desk realized she had charged my card too much and immediately canceled the transaction. 5 days later my money have still not been put back in my card. The motel management have been on 3 way calls with me giving them confirmation numbers showing they canceled it because at first they was putting it all on hotel saying they had not canceled transaction. Now that the hotel has got involved they still holding my money saying it's pending and it should be released around Nov 1st which is a work away. I will not be dealing with them anymore once I get my cash back if I get it back. I am not sure I will by reading other reviews.

Am I the only one that has noticed every complaint has the same answer. I lost my card reported it. Now my paycheck was direct deposited and my card is locked. I now have an emergency and can't get my money. It tells you that it takes 2 working days. After my ID was verified it's been 4 days.

I purchased a $500 MoneyPak at Walgreens on 10/22/2018. I couldn't remember any login info so my son logged into his account. After they denied the deposit several times, I was told to request a refund. I filled out a form with pics of receipt and pics of MoneyPak card. They said they are going to research the receipt. I just want my money funded to my card. That simple. It was for a bill that needed paid yesterday.

I've had Green Dot for years. I've loved this card since I had it but I lost it. Someone used my card so I disputed the transactions. They then blocked my account, I had to verify my identity which I did. I uploaded my ID. It said it takes two business days, my card is still blocked and I need my funds from my card. It's ridiculous.

My experience with Green Dot was beyond awful. I picked up a card at our local store and uploaded money was able to swipe a couple of times before they put a hold on my card. I then sent them a copy of my ID and they still decided to close my account. I don't care that they don't want to bank with me. What I do care about is my account has been closed for a week and I have not received a check with the money on my account. I have called so many times to the customer service number and I always get a automated service to enter my account info to then tell me they closed my account but no option to speak to anyone. Does anyone know if I can sue for my money? It's ridiculous that they do something like hold my money, close my account and yet not give me a option to speak to anyone. I wish I read reviews before purchasing.

I have been with Green Dot for years. My direct deposits from my business goes there as well as other direct deposits. Yesterday I received a payment from my insurance company for a claim they paid out to me. About 5 am today I attempted to use my card and could not. I attempted to log in to my account and was given the message “card blocked pending further review“. When I called Green Dot I was told the payment came through as a credit and that they needed me to send them verification of the original transaction that warranted to the credit. I explained that it was a direct deposit from my insurance company. I was still advised my card would be blocked and I would have no access to my money until I sent them an email with proof of the original transaction.
I have a 15, 14, 1 and three month old children to which I advised the reps. It’s the weened and I have been advised that the process takes two business days. This is utterly ridiculous as this leaves me without funds the entire weekend and two business days after I turn in the documents. This should be against the law. There’s no reason for this. The funds were DEPOSITED into my account. They could at the LEAST make a certain amount available. What if I was traveling with my children? The second time I called I was told my account was not blocked then I was told the rep's system was down and to call back. When I called back I received a recording basically stating that until I sent in the documents my card would remain blocked. I was blocked from speaking to a live agent. I am DEFINITELY not going to continue to bank with them and Will file a complaint with the FTC or whatever agencies I can.

Updated on 12/06/2018: I am still waiting for them to send me my $400 or a new card... I sent them all the info they requested in Oct. and still no response. When I scratched off my card the numbers scratched off and I couldn’t use the card. I am very disappointed and angry that I am still waiting for them!
Original review: I purchased 3 cards the other day. 2 of them scratched off fine the last one the numbers scratched off. I put $400 on that card and now can’t use it. I have tried calling and filling out paperwork to resolve this issue but you cannot get a live person or complete paperwork unless you have the number!? It is so frustrating and ridiculous that this large of a company has made it impossible for consumers to talk to someone to resolve issues such as this. I hope they read this and help me.

I have been with Go bank for years. Sears sent me a refund for a purchase I made and they blocked my account. I have sent more than enough proof to show the refund is legit, even a response from Sears through the BBB, and they still refuse to release my money. Beware of this company. They do not care about their clients and they are out to steal money. Anyone has information on starting a class action suit? I know many people have this issue with this horrible company.

Updated on 10/20/2018: I've tried to call no way of reaching them, they sent me an email to upload my docs which I did, 6 times and I bought a new card just to be able to pass through now they are saying they never received them, my next option now is to talk to my lawyer I will sue the heck out of green that. Green Dot is just a way to steal money without it being traced back to them. People should never bank with them, they are the worst. Bad corporation. Stealing money from hard working people. We both loaded our card for 500 hundred dollars for lawyer fees. The first time everything was fine. Second time we loaded up a Moneypak. It said it fail and said to request refund in which we did. 500 dollar check was returned to us in mailbox. We figure it was just a mistake on Moneypak side so on different days we reloaded 500 again (me not knowing my son Darryl had been going thru same ordeal I was). This time again it said Moneypak fail and told us to request refund again in the column below, which we both did, but this time only to new receive the refund. Made several attempts to call several numbers they have just to be put on hold and phone to hang up and then to call back to just get music once they recognize the number.
This is all wrong and seems like employees are stealing pls money. That a thousand dollars me and my son is out of. Btw my second time I did reach someone they said they see where I Esther ** receive the first refund and the second one would be here by the 18th of September but here it is October, and now I can't find my Moneypak number. My son Darryl ** still has his though but getting the runaround as well. Thank for looking into this.

My friend sent me a Green Dot Prepaid credit card to help with a financial emergency, I received it on Oct. 14th and then proceeded to create a Green Dot account, register the card in my name and then uploaded my driver license details via their website. At 8:16 PM Sunday, Oct. 14th I received an e-mail from them that, yes, they had received my driver's license information and verified it and that a new card with my name on it was being sent to me. I read on their website that I could use the 'temporary card' for transactions. I attempted to do so and was told that the card was declined. I logged into my account on Green Dot and was informed that the card was blocked until my identity was confirmed... this has been 5 days now and I have no way to contact them.
When I tried to use their email contact form, all I would get is a mysterious message about not being able to send the message and to log in and try again. When I tried their contact number, all I get is a repeating message after going through the voice prompts that my card was blocked and I needed to verify my identity. I was finally able to get a message through their website mail interface today, got an automated reply back that it would be '1 or 2' days before somebody would contact me! This is totally unacceptable and has put me in dire financial straits! I have done everything they asked and I am getting ZERO responses! If the matter cannot be resolved soon to my satisfaction I'll have no choice but to begin a complaint with the FTC and the Banking Commission.

This is a bad company. They take money out of your account without your permission. On September 26 I was getting a refund of 152.00 and never seen the money. Also I was getting money back of 46.00 and I never seen that money, I have call many times and they just keep lying about my transaction. I never seen any credit to my account at all. I even call the places I did my transaction at and they both told me that they credit my account but when I look at my account I see no money put back into my account. Green Dot keep lying about my transaction when there is proof they never put the money back in my account. They try to say they put the money in my account and when I look at my account they cannot show me when my money was put on my account without lying to me so they need to find my money.

So I had my Green Dot card for a while before I decided to use it for direct deposit. Well I finally used it and noticed today, that the account number that was mailed to me is different from the account number that's online. So I called them today to try and get some info. I was hung up on 3x's by the 866 number and then when I called back it says my account was blocked? On the day that I'm expecting my direct deposit? I never talked to anyone. Now the 866 number and my online acct says that I've been blocked and to send documentation to an email... Do not do this to me because I need my money... This is the worst bank card I've EVER had! I mean not to be able to talk to anyone is ridiculous and then blocked on payday? Please somebody tell me what to do.

I bought a Green Dot card from Dollar Tree and activate it and put 65.00 dollars on Green Dot. They took 9.97 for monthly fee which I haven’t had for a day then I try making an online purchase and couldn’t and I try ATM. Couldn’t either. It kept saying, "Not authorize." I try to call customer service which there no live person you could talk to then found out I could only make in person transaction. No online no ATM or in store purchases so now I have money in a card and can’t use it.

They say the only way to activate this card is through their website. I received this as a gift and every time I try and activate it says, "Sorry we’re having technical difficulty." So basically they stole my friend's $50. Would never ever recommend anyone ever use these cards.

Original Review: I used my son's money to purchase him a prepaid card so he could order a cell phone. We put at a Walgreen's $160 on the card only to get messages stating an invalid card number. Can't contact a live person and Walgreen's can't help. This is crazy.

Loaded funds on a card yesterday at Walmart so I could make a payment. Merchant told me that they couldn't accept prepaid card so I went back to reverse the transaction. They told me that I have to have the PIN. I called customer service because I can't log in. When I push 5 they said that they can't verify me. I have bill money sitting on this card that I can't get to.

I have 2 cards with this company. One of which I haven't seen in months. The other was just lost recently. I have been trying to report these cards lost for over a week now. Every time I call the customer service number I can't get anywhere cause it keeps asking me for the last 4 digits of the card I'm calling about. Obviously if the cards have been missing I don't know the last 4 digits. This is the worst company with the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered in my life. I wouldn't recommend your card if it came with free cash on it. Not worth the hassle. Trying to speak to an actual human being has literally drove my heart rate up.

Definitely deserves 10 ZEROES. This has been a complete nightmare. I had a transaction deducted from my account on 9/20/18. I filed a disputed as instructed and the represented told me it would take 10 business day to resolve the dispute. I called on the 11th business day and received another date of 45 days to resolve the issue. At that point I closed the account. Today I found out the company sent the money back. I went to log into the prepaid account and there it was just sitting there since the 8th October. I call the customer service line and they stated the only way to receive my money is for them to send it by mail in a check form which will take another 10 days. In which I check the website this morning and was still lied to regarding my refund. Stay far away. I have now consulted a consumer fraud attorney and will proceed with damages if not resolved within the next 24 hours.

I have the Green Dot 5% cashback card. Have had direct deposit since last October 31st. Made my first load on the 10th of October. Over the past year I've maintained my account, kept direct deposit and have accrued 68.00 in cash back. According to the legal info in the deposit agreement after 1 year and 1 day which would have been this October 12th I should have been eligible to receive my cashback bonus yet that didn't happen. It still says month 11 of 12 keep going until you get to 12 months.
Every month Like clockwork it updates on the 12th yet now that my rewards are due it hasn't. I've called customer service numerous times and everytime it's a different reason or excuse if I get one at all as to why I don't have my rewards. The last was from a supervisor who was completely useless. I feel like this card is a complete scam. I should have had my rewards and I have nothing but wasted hours on the phone with an inexperienced and unknowledgeable customer service department. A bigger headache and feeling defrauded.
I will be cancelling my direct deposit and closing my account. This whole situation is unfortunate and just wrong especially for a company as large as Green Dot! Anyone even thinking about this card should be warned! Do NOT unless you like to be scammed, lied to or to feel cheated even waste your time with a company like this! Simple Chime MoneyLion are much better options! Unbelievable to me that 5 reps and a supervisor all had different thoughts yet no one for sure can tell me why AFTER ONE YEAR I still can't get my rewards. Another supervisor was supposed to call me back but never did! Again don't get scammed by this company! Take your business elsewhere!

I purchased a Green Dot card so I had direct deposit for my new job. I had called the number on the back of the card and asked a representative if it would be an issue for my husband's check to be direct deposited as well, and they had said "No. it won't be a problem, just give his employer the direct deposit information." At this point, this has been a great experience and easy transition. My husband and I paychecks go in a few days ago and suddenly my account is locked! I called the number on the back of the card again, now I can't get a live person... Sat on hold for almost 2 hours waiting! I hung up and decided to call later. I called again when I actually had more than an hour to sit on hold. Now the automated system tells me my account is locked until the documents have been sent in for verification, that the status of my account hasn't changed, AND HANGS UP!
At this point I'm broke, confused and seriously angry. It took me several calls just to get a live person, and they gave me an email address and a list of documents to email in... Ok great. This might finally be over... Nope! I call again the next day to see if my documents have been received. They can't confirm if they have or not. And made sure to remind me that my case number needed to be in the subject line of my email. Um what case number? Never was told that either! So here I sit. Almost a week later. 3 weeks without a paycheck. Can't pay my bills... Because Green Dot locked my account down for some reason they can't give me. And it's still going to be 5 BUSINESS DAYS BEFORE I CAN ACCESS MY MONEY. IF VERIFICATION WAS GOOD ENOUGH! I will be ripping all of my money out the second this is done, and will be shredding this thing! Worst experience ever!

This is by far the worst experience using a prepaid card. I got my check deposited and the next day they froze my account!!! They told me I needed to send my ID and check stubs which I have done SEVERAL times. Now I can't even get through to talk to someone about my money. I'm in the second week of dealing with this mess. The automated system tells me it would only take 1 to 2 business days for the hold to be lifted. I AM STILL WAITING!!! I can't understand the poor customer service reps. And all they do is read from a ** paper saying, "I understand your frustrations." No you don't! I'm now facing eviction and I can't even buy my kids formula or diapers!!! And all you can say is you can't transfer me to an AMERICAN and there is no one else I can talk to. And that "corporate" has to call me back. Please do not get one of these cards.

It's only been this past year that 2 of my rent checks had not been received by my landlord. I was able to contact customer service via their chat function for the first check back in March of this year. She was fantastic. I explained the situation (granted, a few times because of communication issues) and she was able to refund the money back to my account so I could re-send a new check. This month, it happened again. Got a call from the landlord stating that, as of today 10-12-18, the check I'd authorized to be sent on 09-28, was never received.
With no "stop payment" function available, I am stuck until I can get in contact with support. I've been trying and trying to access the chat function to get this resolved but it has been "closed". I can't afford to send another $1540 in the hopes I'll be refunded again later. I need a resolution as quickly as possible. Like I said previously, I've really had nothing but great experiences with this card. I am considering changing the bill pay though since there's really no accountability or, ability to track the "check" that is sent. You're basically sending a money order without the benefit of a receipt. :-/ Help?

Until recently I had no problems with Green Dot. I have been a customer for about 3 years. Unfortunately there was a fraudulent charge of 519.26 charged to my card on September 25 2018. I was able to contact the vendor and cancel the order before the merchandise was sent to the fraudulent address. However Green Dot has not charged back my account for the amount noted above. I have since disputed the charges and had the vendor place a conference call to Green Dot corporate dispute resolution customer service and myself.
The representative gave vague information and was unable to identify what specific information they needed from the vendor to resolve my issue. Further conversation revealed that Green Dot had not initiated any correspondence to the vendor which would have settled my dispute. More challenging the representative then informs me that my dispute which was suppose to conclude in 10 days will now continue for about 45 more days. Again how can a matter get investigated if the merchant has not be contacted through any means of communication? Sadly this is how this financial institution conducts business. Today is October 12 2018 and still no avail.

On Oct.7th I used my card at a gas pump at Kroger. The pump wouldn't accept my card so I decided to go somewhere else, and when I did my card said, "Insufficient funds." I didn't have much money on the card just 84$ but it was gone! So I go back to Kroger to explain and ask for a refund. Of course I was told by them that there was nothing they could do and call Green Dot for a refund, at this point I'm very ANGRY! I call Green Dot and explain. I was told my money would be loaded back onto my card so I said, "Fine."
The charge stayed in pending status until Oct.11th. I wake up on the 12th to see if the money has been refunded but the money was out of pending status but the transaction was completely gone! So I call Green Dot and they told me to go back to Kroger who wouldn't help me the first time for the refund but when I talked to that last Sunday it was no problem. Basically I'm saying Kroger let me down and so has Green Dot. My money was STOLEN from me!

Thank you so much for allowing a hacker steal the last $300 out of my bank account. I tried calling the number on my card for 45 minutes today but got zero results. I tried emailing support through your system but got zero results. I now have no money for the next 2 weeks to support my family. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR NO HELP AT ALL!!! After I filed a written dispute of the send money feature Green Dot called to verify that I didn't know the person to whom the money was sent. I told them I didn't know the person and that my account was HACKED!!! I provided PROOF that I was hacked!!! They denied the dispute and kept my $300!!! I have documented proof that I was hacked, and that I called Green Dot immediately!!! And yet they still denied my dispute and stole my money!!!

If you can't active the card try online. There are several kinds. "MAKE sure you Pick the one you have", or you will be creating an account you didn't ask for and they will say they are shipping you a card nobody asked for. There is an option for a refund that will take up to 10 days it says. I tried to activate it as well. Had to been about 10 times before I got home. I got this dumb ** card for my son and put his allowance of $60.00 on it only to find out by trying to activate it there will be an 7.95 fee whether I use it or not. He didn't want to wait 10 days so he's gonna take the $8 loss. Once the money's off oh it's cancelled. Your company should be ashamed of the way you do business. You made an otherwise good financial learning experience a NIGHTMARE!

I have been using the Intuit TurboTax prepaid debit card owned by Green Dot bank. I have been using this card for a year now and have had no issues. When I got married and moved, I could not get a person on the phone to help me change my name and address. Fast forward to last Thursday, October 4, 2018 my card was blocked due to suspicious activity. I was asked to upload an image of my drivers license on the banking website to verify my identity. No shock that the verification failed because my last name had changed. They permanently closed my account and I had quite a bit of money on the card. I have emailed and called and begged and pleaded to know what’s happening with my money.
I have been told for SEVEN DAYS to “please wait one to two business days for a callback. That will be tomorrow before 9:00 pm your time”. No one can give me the number for corporate that is supposed to be calling me back. I cannot buy my blood pressure medicine (hello stroke if it gets too high), I cannot buy my asthma inhaler. I can’t buy groceries or put gas in my car. All of my money is tied on that card and not one single person will tell me what happens to my money.
I have filed a complaint with the Federal Reserve Consumer Help website. I want everyone to share this. This company is crooked. They are essentially STEALING my money that I have busted my ** for and if you know anyone who uses any of their services, warn them now. Stop. Get your money away from them as soon as possible so you aren’t stuck like I am. Please share this. This card was pushed when I filed my taxes so I had my taxes put on it and then closed my bank accounts because the monthly fees were lower. Don’t make my mistake. Don’t trust these greedy, corrupt companies that own and promote this card.

All went well for more than 2 years, until I reported a small unauthorized transaction in early August 2018. The card was canceled and replaced, but I could not access the account nor customer service in any way until I provided I.D. verification. I did so, and 2 days later was informed the account was canceled, though I complied with all requirements. I was assured in writing I could use the substantial balance on the account. I was unable to do so and humiliated in a store as a result of the card being declined.
When I complained about this, I was told the card could not be used and a replacement check would be sent to my address in 2 weeks. In spite of my having no issues with the mail nor with Green Dot communications for 2 years, that check and another one never reached me. Green Dot refused to courier a payment, though I suffered significant damages from the unavailability of funds.
As I requested a couriered payment, after more than two months, I was told I would be called by a supervisor; since that didn't happen, I was informed a corporate manager would call me: still waiting. A supervisor finally called while I was teaching a class, without leaving a call back number. I was told that there was no way for me to return a call. More than two months after the small unauthorized transaction I reported, Green Dot has failed to refund much needed moneys it acknowledged owing to me, and has virtually created a communication wall. I strongly advise anyone not to do business with this entity.

Updated on 10/18/2018: Response to say they are helping is a lie. They respond to complaints on this page to say they are having customer service reach out, but it is a lie. No one reaches out. Nothing happens. This company lies and makes no effort to resolve any issues. Consumer cannot then respond back to say they are not being helped, so it looks like something is being done.
Original Review: I bought a MoneyPak reload card for my son. When he tried to use it, it said it was flagged for suspicious activity. There was nothing suspicious about it. I was able to reach someone (after a great deal of effort), I sent the receipt and a photo of the back of the card. They made me wait two weeks to get my money back, but then only reimbursed the amount on the card, not the fee. Why should I have to pay the $5.95 fee when MoneyPak decided on a whim to cancel the card? I should have gotten my full cost returned. We did not do anything wrong or make any errors in this process. I feel very cheated by Green Dot MoneyPak.

I was billed 500.00 on 8/27/2018 for my prepaid deposit to get a Green Dot credit card. My credit reports show it as a balance of 49.00 lowering my scores. Yet I have no card yet. I've called Green Dot over and over, as the phone operators passed the buck. I want my money with interest now. You would charge me with over 35 in charges if I did that to you. I want my money!!! You're a con of a company. No email addresses and only a post office box... I want my money.

My gift card says it must be registered before it can be used. I registered it and when I checked to make sure it showed the correct amount of $250. it showed -0 - and said I had made a purchase to Amazon the week before NOT. How did the transaction go through if the card wasn't even yet registered? I have heard from Green Dot (finally after 2 months) and am told I have to contact Amazon. Amazon tells me I have to contact Walmart...Walmart tells me there is nothing they can do. So my hands are tied.

Updated on 11/09/2018: I have been trying for months to get a refund on a MoneyPak card I purchased that is invalid. I have been told twice a refund check was arriving within 2 weeks. Still no check. I have contacted the CA Secretary of State, The Dept of Business Oversight and the victims of Corp fraud fund. Hopefully enough people will do the same triggering another investigation into the fraudulent practices of the Green Dot Corp.

Somebody is attempting to steal my identity through Green Dot. 3-5 times a day at least over the last couple of months I'm getting emails addressed to another person with instructions and a temporary code to reset my password through Green Dot. I have never had an account with Green Dot or have even used one before. These emails will not stop and Green Dot provides no way for me to get in touch with them. I tried calling their number and can't even talk to anybody without a card number. I tried submitting a fraud complaint form and that wouldn't go through either.
I am left without any ability to contact this company while somebody else attempts to steal my identity and use a fraudulent account with them. This is unbelievable and incredibly frustrating. It's almost as if they welcome this kind of criminal activity. If anybody from Green Dot reads this, contact me ASAP with resolution. If you're a potential customer, I'd sure steer well clear since they have no desire to offer help when people abuse their services.

I reached out to the bank as I was recently married in regards to name change. They acted as if nothing needed to be done and then when my check was direct deposited into my account it was placed on hold. We are going on 11 days and I’m unable to buy food Or pay my share of the rent. Due to husband’s timing in his paycheck we are completely lacking funds. I submitted them with the verifications to show name change and they never received them and would never let me speak to anyone. I sent In pictures, photocopies, everything from my work email and personal email. They finally found one of them and said it was unacceptable.
Forwarded the message again and they received it however would take 5 days. Contacted after 5 days and advised was missing a copy of the direct deposit from my employer! I have kept copies of everything and have proof it was submitted and on file. My landlord is getting extremely upset to say the least. I am getting harassing phone calls from other places because I can’t pay my bills. Keep being told it’s pending review. But it should not be that hard to verify.

On September 29th someone went into Winder, GA and purchased $1,032.00 In prepaid gift cards with a fake card that was made on my account. I’ve contacted Greendot 5 Times and even spoke with an account manager with my attorney present on speaker phone and was assured that my money would be refunded back onto my account on Oct 8th. Walgreens has the man on camera buying the cards and they even called me the next day when the same man came back and tried to do this again! Well today the money wasn’t refunded so I called Greendot back once again only to be told the investigation had been extended. This was all of the money and my family had to our names and can’t even buy food while Greendot sits back and does nothing.
Any other bank would’ve flagged the card immediately since this was done in a state I don’t reside in as well as this amount of transactions being done at a Walgreens. This has been the most horrible experience I’ve ever had. I’m canceling my direct deposit with these guys and am praying this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

My son passed away almost 3 weeks ago and I have been waiting to use the money deposited to the Green Dot card to pay for the funeral. I went through several people in customer service. I couldn’t understand they forced me to send driver's license pictures and other info involving me so I could get the card to unlock which has been at least 2 weeks since I started this with Green Dot. Now the funeral home is saying I have to do something this week before it is too late. I will never use this service again nor will I refer anyone to them. I have a meeting Monday with a lawyer to take them to small claims court so I’ll keep everyone informed on what happens to see what we can all do.

Literally the only reason that I can think of why anybody would purchase a Green Dot card is by mistake. This product has no value. It’s just another way to store money, but with much higher fees and other methods. It’s not even accepted at many retailers, and you can’t even start using until you pay them $11 to start, plus the cost of the card. It is not anonymous, like a Vanilla card, there is no customer support, like at a bank, and it’s not even free to use. Junk product.

I purchased a Green Dot prepaid card last night and have not been able to activate this damn card yet. I’ve called to get assistance and each time they forward me to an automated system that keeps telling me the card is invalid!! I purchased this card from Green Dot so not sure how that is possible? When I give the rep the number over the phone they are able to see that the card has not been used and has a 200.00 balance. This is insane that they cannot help me!!! I can’t even get a refund until my card is registered yet I have no assistance to do so!!!

So I had a direct deposit sent to my account on Monday and that prompted it to being blocked. Was told to send a copy of my ID front and back and any supporting documents to verifymydocs@greendot.com which I had to resend about 15 times. When I finally confirmed they received all the docs was told 2 business days. Even the automated recording says 2 days. Now it's going on Weds... tried the FB support page and got message that they have assigned a supervisor to my account and will be notified in 5 business days. It almost Friday night and still no resolution.
I need my funds to feed my family, pay bills which I explained over and over and I still get the same 5 business days BS. How can a company have the power to hold your funds hostage till they are ready to address the issue? With no oversight or options try and find a solution? I'm being told now that it won't even be reviewed until Wednesday due to the weekend and Columbus Day. How will I feed my family until then. They have changed the date from 2 to 3 to 5 business days and there is nothing I mean nothing you can do to fight it. Feel so useless and helpless. It is just not fair or right that they can abuse their power and hold on to our damn money.

My income money was loaded on to my Green Dot card. Two days later they locked my card. They asked for proof of identity. It was provided, then they closed my account. No one will give me an information nor were they helpful. I fully intend on reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. If I don't hear back soon I'll also take them to small claims court. This is beyond ridiculous. Stay far away from this company. You do better off keeping your own money in hand, than to bank them.

While I was in Jail there were 3 unauthorized transactions on my account, I notified them and they said did not go in my favor? I provided them with paperwork from jail that shows that I was in there August 30th till September 18th, and this was the only transactions that drained my account. I want to sue them unless they credit the money to my Account! They are trying to make me collect it from Worldremit? That is their Job, I turned in my documentation that proves I could not of made the transactions so please pay up Green Dot!

Green Dot backed cards are gambling your money, you will probably lose. After using the card for a year I got a message saying they found suspicious activity and froze the account after going back and forth providing them with numbers piece of information and documents they said that was not enough. Mind you the whole time still taking money out for monthly fees, I was told that if my family member could provide the paper receipt they would re open the account but have refused to return my funds basically stealing my money. Now they will not respond to me. So if you don't want your money go ahead and gamble but if you need it don't trust them to give it back to you. And Walmart MoneyCard is backed by Green Dot, will not help in these cases. They tell you it's a different department separate from Walmart.

I was hacked and they deactivated my card. I tried accessing my account today to move my funds and they blocked my account. They sent an email to upload my ID card, but to get started I need to provide my card number. I can't, because it's deactivated!! I had no problem reaching anyone when everything was good, but now I can't reach a single soul. I need my money off my account asap. Contacting my lawyer is the next and final step.

I have been with Green Dot for some time now. They claim that unusual activity was happening on my account. They went ahead and BLOCKED my whole account. They did not contact me to verify the "unusual activity" or anything. They just went ahead and blocked me from all access to my funds and my account. I called them to try and tell them that all activities on my account were me and there is no fraudulent activities on my account. I have to send in photo ID and then wait five days for them to verify my identity. Five BUSINESS days!!! (Also have to wait for a replacement card in the mail). Apparently they don't think that I need to pay rent and bills and that I can live off having no access to my money.
Needless to say I will be canceling my direct deposit and informing all friends that use Green Dot to do so also. By the way for anyone wondering... there are other banks that issue direct deposit 2 days early as well and also they lift the block the same day as you call and verify your identity over the phone. I cannot wait to switch banks. Best of luck to all Green Dot users!

I called Monday to make sure I wouldn't need to submit documents or anything for my husband's direct deposit to go through, and I was assured there was nothing for me to do and that it would deposit with no issues. Fast forward to today (Thurs Oct 4) and my account is blocked due to my husband's direct deposit. That's $1880 we can't get because someone failed to do their job correctly. To top it off, I've been told 12 different things in terms of documents needed and time frame of the block being lifted.
I have a disabled child with medical needs, I can't go 24 hours, much less 5 days without funds to support her and her sister. This is ridiculous. I submitted all required documents to the email I was provided (verifymydocs@greendot.com) with my case number in the subject line and I have yet to hear anything. Also, the automatic prompt states it takes 2 business days, 2 reps agreed with that, and 3 others said 5 business days. Which is it!? We want the money we worked for!

I have cancer and have to have a phone. I did what I usually do and went to Dollar Store to get a Green Dot Card to add money to my phone account to activate it as I forgot yesterday and figured it wouldn't be a problem. I went to store, got $40.00 card, came home, waited 30 minutes and went to activate it. No go, I live in the country and have no friends or family close and need my phone to contact my husband if anything happens with my illness. The card would not activate so I got a hold of Green Dot support via FB to get through. After several attempts I went to the store like an idiot and bought ANOTHER card because it's imperative I have a phone at all times and the same thing happened, would not activate! Now I'm out $86.00, have been trying to contact them since 11:00 am and it's now 5:30 pm.
They kept sending stupid messages like call them, wait 24 hours, etc. They apparently never read any of the messages I sent telling them I had to have this resolved immediately. Finally 3 hours ago they asked me to give them an hour to resolve, they will not answer me now? I have begged, groveled, threatened, even sent them proof I'm a cancer patient. They are the worst customer service I've ever had to deal with. I would not recommend them to anyone needing access to their money. It's the worst I've ever dealt with.

I loaded a MoneyPak onto my Green Dot account and my acct has been blocked, they said they need proof of purchasing the MoneyPak which I don't have the numbers was given to me. I purchased concert tickets however the event was postponed due to Hurricane Florence. The website that I purchased my tickets on emailed me stating that a refund was coming my way. Well, their system accidentally deposited the money into my account twice and Green Dot is refusing to approve ONE of the deposits plus they have cancelled my card altogether. No refund, no direct deposit and no transactions. At first my account was on hold but now they have completely closed it. We have sent a total of 7 emails to different departments confirming this purchase and I even called the ticket company on three-way with Green Dot!! This is nearly $700 that is MY MONEY. They are refusing to help and this whole ordeal is a bit unnecessary. These people have no sense of urgency.

My son's (Michael **) income tax was put on a prepaid debit card thru Green Dot. He was asked to provide a ID front and back, which he did. Within minutes his account was closed. They said the money would be returned to the IRS, this was in April and it still has not been returned. When we try to talk to someone he gets the same excuse every time, that it takes 45 days, well maybe they can't count days cause it has been well over that. All he wants is his money, he is a single father supporting his son and this money would come in handy.

On August 11, I called Green Dot to report unauthorized charges. They canceled my account, and issued a new card with a new debit number. Here, October 3rd, I have yet to receive my card in the mail. I call October 1st to have a new card issued. October 2nd, I get an email stating that my account is now blocked due to the fact I changed my address. I get paid through my employer normally on Wednesday, sometimes Thursday, and I was informed by Sam, the supervisor, that any direct deposits will be rejected and I would have to wait two business days for the funds to be returned to my employer. I was informed by my employer that it would actually take a few days for me to be able to receive a paper check due to the fact it has to go back through the payroll process.
I am beyond livid because I have rent, and other bills to pay, and every time I get ahold of someone through Green Dot, I am getting told the same generic message that I have to wait, and it will take 5 business days for the verification team to review everything. This is unacceptable. I have been a customer for two years now without a problem and now all of a sudden all of these things are happening and I can't get ahold of anyone that has direct answers for me. Everything is based off of a system and there's nothing they can do about it. I guarantee soon as the card is unblocked, I'm canceling the card because this cannot happen again and I refuse to let it happen again.

Yes I put a dispute for 512.75 and 408.25. I was told I would have my money back fast on my account. Never getting the money back. It's been 3 weeks now and I have been loyal customer for a long time now and they still dont care about their customer at all. Nobody should get this card at all. It's not worth it at all. You have so many problems with this card.

At Walgreens, I bought this Green Dot prepaid visa card for my daughter. Loaded it with $100 and sent it to my daughter. Once she received it, she registered but once she filled up all the questions including her SS and created a Pin and clicked to submit, the website could not verify THE INFORMATION. What the hell?!? She couldn't register, she can't use the card and where's my money??? I had her send everything back to me so that I can try and myself if I can register it myself but to no avail. I WANT MY $100 BACK!!! I will not use their refund because I don't trust that my money will ever come back to me. Seems like a HUGE SCAM! There are no customer service reps to help when I've tried everything to register the card.

No. It's been 8 days and no one can find the 50 emails I have sent over and over again. I can't talk to a supervisor and no one will call me back. I get hung up on and lied to daily. First off, their terribly flimsy card fell apart on me so I had to order another one. (I even had Green Dot VIP) As I did just so, my account got placed into lock for suspicious activity for no reason. I thought to myself, whatever, overprotective banks just looking out. So I go online in order to unblock my card, and it says "You must submit a picture of your driver's license, state ID or passport online at our secure site. Temporary IDs and photocopies of IDs are not accepted." Great, so I have my passport because my Driver's License is currently lost and I'm waiting to get another one. When I go on the thing, it suddenly says to send an ID or driver's license. Surely I can just send my passport cause it said I could.
Nope, absolutely cannot use any other form but your state id or driver's license. So I decide to call up their customer service. I tried explaining my situation that I don't have my ID and all I have is my passport which is definitely a valid form of ID. But no, the lady refused to hear me out then threatened to hang up on me. I have no access to my own funds and my company gave my direct deposit to this account to which I cannot even access. This company will gladly take your checks so you won't spend them. If you ever end up in this situation, god bless your soul, cause they do NOT care.

I loaded a new Green Dot card with $430 last Friday 9/28 so that I could pay some bills with it online. Card is declined every time I try to use it. Have to go through a verification process by sending in pictures of my drivers license, and it tells me the pictures are accepted and will be reviewed in 2 business days. Then I get a text Saturday telling me that my permanent card is on the way, which I assume to mean the verification process was successful.
Try again to pay my bills today, again declined and the automated line tells me they couldn't use the pictures I sent (which they never notified me of). So I resubmitted the photos today and just need to know that they will be accepted so I don't have to wait 2 more days for them to be declined. Absolutely impossible to speak with a person in customer service, just endlessly looped into an automated voice response that is completely unhelpful. I bought this card ONLY because I need to pay my bills with it, and I'm unable to do that or even at least talk to someone to find out what the issue is. My bills will be LATE thanks to the complete lack of customer service. Having a horrible experience with this company.

On and around 7/20 and for 2 weeks, My Green Dot account was charged $318.12 including overseas charges, all small recurrent transactions (4 or 5 as little as $5 per transactions and as high as $10 to $17) to places in Belgium and France with vendor names HiPay wallet, Proximus, Imagix and Mode Lin. Being alarmed by the lack of their system not catching and or stopping these daily activities like any other financial company calling customer to validate or verify these transactions occurring to protect their customers, I called Green Dot and asked to look into these activities disputing these charges. I was told that they will get back to me in 5 business days...
15 business days later, I was the one who called again to inquire on what happened to be told that they believe that these transactions were valid and will remain on my account and to go and file a police report. Seriously? With who? The cavalry in Belgium or the gendarmerie in France? Green Dot seems to use the "file a police report" to intimidate or deter the customer showing lack of their value to their consumer making it way tougher than simply send the proper documentations on when these transactions occurred, IP address, merchandise purchases etc... Like any other respected financial institute, knowing that these transactions were in small amount happening during the day for the consumer not to catch and clearly with zero security from their end to warn the consumer.
I was sent a letter by Green Dot with a reference number Claim # ** on 8/15/2018 stating the following: "Upon request, we will send you a copy of any supporting documentation in making our decision" which in return I sent them a certified letter on 8/23/2018 to do so. I am still waiting for their response 30 days 9/22/18 later and that the documentation to be provided. What is very alarming making my decision not to use their service any longer after 8 years being a loyal customer with ZERO dispute prior to this incident is the COMPLETE LACK of customer service and TOTAL DISREGARD of value to their customers and account protection.
Not only, I am chasing for answers for last almost 3 months, it is in my lap to figure out what happened. There is not a name or a supervisor to talk to like any other financial institute, there is NO EMAIL address you can communicate to confirm receipts and replies. All letters are sent to a mailbox whether certified or not, there is NO NAME on who picked it up. I have hired a lawyer last month then dismiss him because it is going to cost me more in fees and I decided to go in different routes to make the consumers aware of this behavior and lack of sense of urgency in caring for their customers.
Promises of getting back to you within 5 days, reply to letter to send documentations 30 days later: NOT KEPT. Fraudulent Charges: Falls back on consumer to file reports, letter etc... instead of sending valid proof maybe due to lack of technology or purely lack of customer service culture starting from top allowing this behavior while seeing all the complaints in social media and BBB. Cannot email, talk to a specific person. Communication with a mailbox is only way for communication.
No stops or Red flags from their end to reach consumers verifying transactions occurring daily clearly not benefiting customers but getting themselves the fees with every transactions. (None of these international transactions were pushed in notifications like US transactions) Lastly it hit me that the money you have on the card is your own money that we load. Showing the lack of having a system in place to protect it and any loss is not their loss showing the clear lack of caring or even responding.

I bought a card and loaded 130 dollars on it and tried to pay a bill online and by phone and card was not accepted so Bills didn't get paid. I called to cancel card and their automated services takes you in circles until it says it doesn't recognize your response. Over and over I tried different things until finally I got a person on the phone and they sent me a check for the 130 minus the monthly fee for the card I had less than 24 hrs. They said it be 2 weeks on Sept. 8. On Oct 1 I called again and they sent my money to a different state altogether. So still waiting... Never again will I use this brand or product. And I urge everyone to save their money and their time. GREENDOT is a joke and SCAM artists.

I went to send my friend $200 and she accepted through PayPal. Everything was fine. PayPal told her it was gonna take 30 days to process. This was a month ago. Today she got a message that says I cancelled the payment when I didn’t. So now I’m wondering where the $200 is at this point because it wasn’t put back into my account. And it’s no customer support contact information so here I am. Can someone tell me what could have went wrong? It’s not looking too good for business for you guys because up until now, I was content with my service from Green Dot.

They closed my husband’s card for no reason and we were waiting on a VERY large direct deposit that has now screwed us! Can’t get a hold of anyone on the phone!!! Now we have to pray that we can get our money from the sender ASAP!!! DO NOT USE GREEN DOT.

I had a direct deposit on September 19. To have the $7.95 a month fee waive you have to reach $1,000 within a certain time frame. Mine started on September 19. Yet, my direct deposit was put in as if it was on the 18th of September. I also moved $5 to the vault on the same day the 19th of September. When I called to question why it said the 18th and not the 19th. They said my deposit was posted on the 18th which was a lie. But they put it in as the 18th. Yet I didn't have money available until the 19th. When it was when my direct deposit actually was posted. They did this so they won't waive my fee. This is a scam. I will be closing this account. And if people pay attention to this monthly fee waiver they will realized what GREEN DOT is doing.
Updated on 10/05/2018: Ok. I closed my account with GREEN DOT. I had transfer money to my savings. And now it shows that you reverse a total of $17.28. But in the card it only shows $7.28. Where are my other $10. And why did you do this. I was clear that I was having issues with your company. And now THIS happens... Incredible. I will NEVER do business with you again. And I will NOT recommend you to other people. My original issue wasn't resolved. And the number you gave to contact DANIEL never answers. What is going on? I need answers. You will not be getting a good review from me until this and the previous matter gets resolved. You people are THIEVES AND SCAMMERS. Where is the money you took back?

11 days for a check to go through for mobile deposit? Are you kidding me!!? I could drive to Nebraska from Missouri and cash the check myself in less time. I am one unhappy customer. This is crazy, don't use Green Dot!!!

I've had a Green Dot card for less than two weeks & would not recommend this to anyone! There was an error with the card reader at the gas station earlier today which resulted in a canceled transaction. Please note the "canceled transaction" only consisted of me swiping my card & entering the pin; at no time was anything actually charged/purchased. This error led to Green Dot placing a hold on my card for the entire balance ($92.00). The person I spoke to when I called was the opposite of helpful & said "I may receive my funds by October the 10th". I then transferred my paycheck to the card only for the card to refuse the transfer! Finally, since I have had the unfortunate luck to call them twice in the same business day, when I call back to ask why they refused the transfer I am unable to connect with an operator. I would recommend any other card/company over this one.

Within first month of opening new secured credit account, attempted to make first payment on September 14, 2018 after which I received email stating they needed additional banking information to verify my payment account. I immediately replied to email on 9/14/18 with the requested information and did so again on 9/17/18, 9/20/18, 9/21/18 and 9/25/18, each time I received email from them. I also faxed information in duplicates. Green Dot/GoBank never processed the verification and subsequently notified credit bureaus that my account was closed by credit grantor even though the account was/always current. This caused my credit score to drop 75 points overnight!!! After speaking with customer service and credit department all I received was sorry. They admitted to having received my information but someone "forgot" to authenticate and unrestrict the account and therefore they subsequently closed the account on September 21, 2018.

We had my boyfriend's Pell Grant refund direct deposited onto my Green Dot card and there were no problems at all. $324 deposited on the day it said it would be. So when he got his student loan we did the same thing. Now there is $2500 on my card and I'm blocked from my account!!! They said to email front and back of both our drivers' licenses and proof of the student loan. Now I'm reading other people's reviews and they have obviously had no luck. This is the money we were God to LIVE ON while we go to school. I want our money Green Dot!!!

Requested replacement card and paid for express shipping. Locked my account and still waiting for a replacement card (1 week and counting). Sent replacement card to the wrong location and told I cannot receive another card until my identity is confirmed although I've provided my social security number, etc. Now told they don't know how long it will take to "verify my identity", yet they are willing to discuss all other details of my account with me over the phone but don't know my identity? My funds frozen and no access to them, I will be pursuing them in small claims court or class action like the countless other victims of this tactic if this is not resolved immediately.
Updated on 10/01/2018: I called FedEx after noticing someone else on this website was having a similar issue and they informed me they had no history of any package/mail sent out to me from GreenDot although they stated they mailed my card on 9/22. It's now 10/1 and I still have yet to receive a replacement card after paying for express delivery, which is ultimately keeping me from verifying my identity through their website and forcing me to email them documents which they state take an entire week to review. This company is pure fraud, I'll be finding another Prepaid Card provider after this issue is resolved and will recommend anyone I know searching to do the same. If at all possible, go with a Prepaid card from PNC or another reputable bank with an actual location you can walk into.

I purchased a cash back card and I can't activate or register. I wanted a refund and they won't give me one cause I lost my receipt. It's been 2 weeks and I attempted to register it once a day and says I exceeded the times or temporarily unavailable. I spoke to 3 different people and 2 of them hung up on me. I want to sue them.

Green Dot has proven to be one of the worst ways of banking. I've now had my card turned off for a week with nobody able to give me an explanation or reason. Customer service is impossible to contact, and when you finally get someone they instructed me to send an email and wait 5 more business days. My direct deposit is put on hold and my bills are late now waiting for Green Dot to allow me the money in my account. They’ve told me IRS has said suspicious activity and 2 days later I've called state and federal IRS telling me there is absolutely no activity under review and that theres been a mistake. So that means Green Dot has randomly decided to hold my funds from me. I'm awaiting a reply and as soon as I'm allowed my money I will be switching to a different bank after a year and a half of being a reliable customer. I will also advise my family and friends of this TERRIBLE service!

Do not buy a prepaid card from Green Dot as they charge you a $10 fee for activating the card. The dumbest thing I have ever seen. They also require a social security number just for a prepaid card. This is very sketchy and should not required from a prepaid card.

On the 11th of this month I was charged 3 times on accident at a Days Inn. They refunded me. I have the paperwork to prove it but the money was not put back on my card immediately so I called Green Dot where I spoke with a representative and they informed me that my money would not be back on my card until the 26th. Although it was inconvenient I understood.
it’s now the 27th and I have yet to see the $136 dollars so I called Green Dot again and talked to another representative who insisted that they had refunded me on the 25th! Which is impossible because I never received the money back on my card! I have pictures showing all of my transactions and deposits from my employer. I’m extremely disappointed and honestly feel robbed... $136 may not be a lot of money to some people but for someone who works hard to barely keep afloat it is! I would love if I could actually speak with someone that can help me rather than someone who can barely understand what I’m saying.

Card has a balance of $93.18 but not working at any retailer - We bought this card for my daughter to use on a trip. It worked once at the airport and hasn't been accepted by any retail or food establishment since then. I have called the number on the back and I can only get the balance. There is no option to speak to a customer service agent. I have called the number on the website but when asked to enter my 16 digit card number, I am directed to the number on the back of my card. I am determined to get my money back or get a working card. I am very frustrated and would never purchase a Green Dot anything given my experience.

So my husband and I woke up with 200$ missing from our account. Someone had pulled out money from a Chase bank 2 hours from where we live. We called and tried to talk to someone but No one speaks English. They stopped his card, charged us for a new one, then refunded it back. Then charged 5$ for not having enough money on the new card. Because obviously We stopped our direct deposits. We filled all the correct paperwork. Proved who he was for identity purposes. Waited 3 weeks. And now they say they won't pay us our money. Look at the cameras from chase people it's not us. We worked for that money and now someone just gets it for free... Thanks for nothing.

I signed up for the Green Dot and was charged monthly fees, despite not receiving the permanent card. I decided to sign up for direct deposit and the day the deposit hit my account Green Dot blocked the card and refused to allow me to cancel the card, refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor or escalate the call. I asked if they would reject or send back the funds and they said no. They said I had no choice but to send in my driver’s license and my spouses and wait up to 5 business days for the dept at verifymydocs to respond. I asked for contact information from the corporate office and they refused. They said they would be returning my bill payment because my account was blocked, which will result in more fees. I asked to dispute the fees and they would not allow me to. I’m filing a complaint with BBB.

I purchased a prepaid Green Dot card at Dollar General. I loaded $20 on the card. Waited 30 minutes and tried to activate, says card invalid. Can't get a person on the phone to help. Filing BBB complaint. Horrible customer service. I've called several phone numbers listed online only to be disconnected by the automated system because I don't have an active account. This is the most ridiculous, frustrating experience and I'm beyond angry at this point. If there had just been someone to talk to from the beginning I could have resolved this much quicker.
