I see by reading the disclosure the firm must have the best lawyers. You get UP TO 1500 but most people probably get 300 dollars for a $75 annual fee that goes up to $99. They write in their form letter that you are a perfect match for their credit. Well they think a friend of mine is the perfect sucker for their card as my friends poor credit is what they want. This is a scam that baits one. You can be pre approved which is meaningless. No one answers their phones. And fine print says they can change your eligibility... Just recordings if you have a problem. Stay away!

A couple of weeks ago I went to use the card in order to pay my electric bill and didn't go through. I knew I was nowhere close to my limit so I tried again with the same result. Yesterday I went to the laundromat since their machines accept credit cards. I swiped the card and got an "invalid card" message, so I called them to discuss the problem. They told me they had no record of a declined card or any other sort of message and asked how I was using the card. I told them I've typed in the number and swiped. The person I was speaking to said maybe I typed it in wrong, to which I said "that's why I tried it twice." She said she could send me another card to which I said "why would you send me another card with the same number if the current one didn't work even typing it in." I swear I had to say it more than 3 times to her.
I finally got frustrated and asked to speak to a supervisor. She really didn't want to do that and tried to still deal with me. I kept asking until she finally put me through to one...."Patrick" who kept saying the same thing and that they couldn't do anything. I said I could take a picture to show them since he still was not getting what was being said. He said to do that but in the meantime still couldn't do anything until they saw it. I did notice that both people I spoke to were foreign sounding which I can only assume means that Credit One outsources their business. Please PLEASE do not do this card. Should have really thought it through when I went to apply. I mean what CC company charges you for a credit increase.

I have been trying to cancel the card and they don't make it easy. I went to their site where I clicked on remember password because I have short term memory loss. Well when I clicked on forgot password, they said that they would send an email so I could go to my password hint. Well I did this twice and never got an email. I intended to use this card to help rebuild my credit. Now it seems that I have given my social security number to untrustworthy people who are no more than parasites and scam artists. Instead helping me they are further destroying my credit by creating a bill that I have gotten nothing for. I want to cancel the card but I don't even have a phone number where I can speak with an actual person. Please help. I am a senior on a fixed income and planned to use this card sparingly. I just want to get rid of this card and the trumped up bill they have given me with nothing to show for it. Thank you.

I just applied for a credit card at "Capital One" services. I received an email stating that I was approved. Today, about 3 weeks after being approved I received a letter from a "Credit One" not Capital One, stating they need a COPY of my driver’s license, W-2's, AND SS card??? I have never had to do this before... I smell SCAM!!! This is NOT Capital One correct? Just with this company wanting all of this personal info really has me scared!! Someone could steal my ID immediately with all of that info in their hands. I am not responding to this correct?

My now husband received an offer from CreditOne shortly after filing bankruptcy, and figured he would apply "just to see" and was approved for I believe a $300 limit, with a 29.9% interest rate, and I don't recall the annual fee, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't $75.00. I'm reading the reviews on this board and wondering if it's even the same company that we dealt with! We never had any of the issues mentioned with customer service or being declined, and when he called to cancel (Capital One had sent him an offer with a much interest rate, right at the same time we'd paid CreditOne off), he explained this as his reason, and they offered to decrease the rate. He simply explained that he didn't want to risk getting in over his head with credit cards, but would keep them in mind for down the road.
Fast forward about six months, and I'm now ready to get in the credit game, and figure I'd give them a shot since our last experience hadn't been bad. I got pre-approved, then applied and received the same balance that my husband did initially, with only a $35.00 annual fee, and 17.9% interest rate. While this is "high" this isn't unreasonable in comparison to some other cards I've seen. The only issue I'm seeing so far is the amount of time it takes for funds to become available after making a payment. As of now, it's been four days and my "Available balance" doesn't reflect the payment having been made - I did the free option. This is definitely a "fee" based card, but if handled properly it can help build you in the right direction. If I ever have any issues like others are describing, I will definitely come back and update.

Let me start off by saying I did not look up reviews on this credit card before activating it. I see that that was a HUGE mistake. I also should say that how this happened could possibly be part my own fault since I did not read everything in the disclosure as well as I should have. With that being said though, I just got this card about a month and a half ago. My bill was due 2 days ago, on the 10th. I only used the card twice, aside from being charged the ridiculous annual fee of $75, which I was not aware of, from lack of reading thoroughly I suppose. My credit limit is low, only $300, which I thought was a good start since this was my first credit card, aside from store cards.
Now that I have said all of that information, I will get into my problem. I always like to make payments early, at least by one week if not two or three weeks, ahead of time. Since this was my first bill, and I do everything paperless, I had to go through the process of adding my checking account information into the website's Pay Bill. Maybe I typed it in wrong by accident but I did get an email saying the payment posted. I did all of this on the 3rd of this month, and got the email saying my payment posted on the 5th. Still 5 days before it is due, mind you. It wasn't coming out of my actual bank's checking account but I figured it would be fine since I got the email saying it posted. WRONG! I guess maybe I should have checked my Credit One Bank account, because my payment did not go through and that was on the 8th.
I was not made aware of that through email though, so I had NO IDEA that that had happened. Of course they sent an email today, the 12th, telling me my payment was past due and I now have a late fee. How is it that a company can send an email telling you the payment posted, but can not send an email telling you that it messed up somehow and did not go through? But then can send an email telling you your payment is past due. I am beyond pissed! I have already decided to not charge anything more on this card and pay it off as soon as I can and cancel it! I tried to call the number on my card today, even though it is Sunday, you never know. And of course, there is no option to talk to an actual person.
By the sounds of it, it won't get me far anyhow. Like I said, this is my first credit card aside from store cards and I can already tell you that this is a bad card to go through. I feel like they are a scamming company with horrible customer service. Now that I have decided to let it go, not even try to resolve the late fee issue, and go ahead and pay it off and cancel, I am already nervous for when I cancel this card. What a joke of a credit card company!

Where do I start... I had a kitchen fire 18 months ago. Completely forgot to pay my bill. They called my place of employment and tried to start wage garnishment for a balance of $300 when it was 2 days late. I called and had to pay a late fee of $30, plus the payment. Yesterday.. I paid a $1000 on my balance so I can rent a truck tomorrow to move out of state. I went to pay for the truck and there is a five day hold on my payment?!? The money is out of my checking account... where is my credit?!? I called to inquire about this and the lovely Indian woman told me that if I had made an express payment for $9 more it would have been available immediately. I told her she took my money immediately and it would only be fair if her company could give me the credit I just paid off. Nothing she could do.
I should have paid the extra fee. I explained that I needed to rent a truck to be in the new state to start work.. said it wasn't her issue. Told her capital one posted the same day the payment cleared.. she told me to use capital one then. I asked to speak to her supervisor, she said she was the only supervisor I needed. Really... so.. I called her a female copulating canine and this card had better work on Tuesday because I have to start my new job on Wednesday... after I pack my house into a truck, towing my car 670 miles. Thank you for to ruining my week and the possibility of jacking up my ability to make future payments to her ** company. She said.. and I quote. ** you very much for calling... and that was the end of the conversation.
I called back.. entered in all pertinent information I was on hold for three minutes and then disconnected. Four times. I called back as a new customer and was connected only to be hung up on when they realized who I was. I have NEVER had an issue like this with anybody in my life. I am pretty sure this company is a spawn of Satan, just my opinion. I was planning on paying them off and cancelling when my 401k comes in, but reading above, I'm afraid to send them anything ever again. I have a feeling that this company will be a cancer that I will never be able to get rid of. Maybe if I shred the card and mail it to them, that will translate to their native tongue what they can do with it. No offense to anyone.. just this one company and the lovely "lady" I talked to on the phone.

After reading the reviews I can't really add much more than my story as most sound similar. My Husband and I both have/had an account with COB. I recently closed mine because they refused to change my last name (we have been married for almost 2 yrs now), too high of an interest rate for my credit (I got it over 3 years ago to rebuild my credit - I have never missed a payment and my credit has gone up over 700 so I have better cards now), and because even though I paid the card off they still charge you the "monthly" "annual fee" of $8 and change. They gave me hell trying to close it but finally did it.
On to my husband’s card... He drives truck for a living and is not able to call during the day due to what he hauls and he is not home during the week. He has added me multiple times to the account. I pay the bills out of MY account each month online. I recently switched accounts and updated in info on the website and made a payment. I received a letter telling me they didn't get the payment because the account was closed (the old account). I called to explain what had happened and rectify the situation... First I call and get lost and stolen cards. I tell them that I need to be transferred to a different department because that is not why I was calling, and he insisted that he could help me so I went through the whole story, and in return he tells me that he is lost and stolen cards and cannot help me.
I ask to be transferred again and he says that the department wasn't open. It was 8:30am EST and the website says collections is open 5am PST which would be 8am EST. But ok... I call back at 9AM EST. Get someone in C/S. I explain the situation again where I am told that I am not authorized on the account and he cannot help me which is crazy... so I ask to speak to a supervisor and he puts me on hold for at least 10 mins then disconnects the call. I call back and immediately ask to speak to a supervisor because I don't want to go through the whole story again when the guy won’t transfer me until he gets the account info and such and proceeds to tell me the same thing... I again ask for a super like I asked in the beginning and he transfers me. I go through the whole thing with that person... He tells me the same thing again and again.
I ask him what I CAN do then because this all sounds crazy because I KNOW that he has authorized me numerous times. He tells me that my husband has to give me permission each time I call (he has to be right next to me to do this he says), or he has to sent in a Power of Attorney!! He tells me that is bank policy. It’s crazy because no other bank makes you go through all of that just to add an authorized person when that person is your husband who has added you before... Needless to say I will be paying off the balance and then having my husband close the acct.

They offer a product to people who normally can't get it. Follow the rules. They will also up your credit line once they feel you are reliable.

I have been with credit one bank for a number of years and the customer service is horrible. One, everyone speaks very little English, you must ask to repeat and on and on. You can stay on the phone for over 1/2 an hour to say the least. As a senior citizen living on a fixed income, my bill has come to $1100... every time I sent a payment before due date, I am charged a late fee but how can that be? for example: payment not due until 10/1 but payment made and logged in 9/21? I am constantly charged late fees... I will never be able to pay this off but I am going to send only the regular payment due... then I will default the late fees and they will have to eat it as this is an illegal rip off. DO NOT USE CREDIT ONE BANK CREDIT CARD.

I only got my card a few days ago. I went online right away and registered for the online account. I was aware of the $75 yearly charge. It did state that on the application. I also took the standard card because it also did say the charge was $6.95 for a custom card. It did ask me if I wanted a second card? I declined. So setting up my online account there was as I thought, $225.00 available on my card. HUH! I tried to use it at Walmart. Sale was $55.05. It was declined twice.
I used my Capital One card I got the same day instead. It had a full $300 limit on it and gave me no declines when I used it. So I went across the street to the tobacco store. Sale was only $16 something - again it was declined. My minimum due is only $25 and it is not due until 10/25 so I can't figure why it is declining my card. But when I go into the site the first thing that pops up is (make a payment now). I can only assume they want a payment before they will permit me to use it, even though it has already been activated. So am I correct in thinking they want a payment before I can use it?

Signed up for the card, which I did read completely over the entire terms that were sent. I knew about the $75 fee being upfront and all that; however, I originally thought they were Capital One. I mean, look at their logo. Credit One/Capital One... Same exact logo design. How could I not be confused? Anyway, I went ahead and signed up anyways, figured, why not? Also noticed the terms on the mailing (and within the cardholder agreement) stated one would be waived the annual fees if they did not use the card AND did not make a payment. Not 'OR' but 'AND'. Very very very misleading.
Anyways, I sent them a letter, and the cards, through UPS, to cancel the account and reimburse all fees as per the terms. Eleven days later, still not closed. I call them up and they argue with me and all of a sudden, the address THEY gave me is incorrect and they never got it (even though I have a signature through UPS). Charged me a $25 late fee even though I had sent it with plenty of time and requested a settlement amount. On top of all of this, I included some more information in the letter, for example, all of the Truth in Lending laws they are breaking. I will include them below;
All of the following pertain to the Truth In Lending Act (1968). Credit and Charge Card Application and Solicitation Disclosures Section §1026.60:1. §1026.60(f)(5): Grace Period: After reading over this section of the law, and re-reading the terms of service included with the pre-approval offer, I find no mention of any, nor a lack of, grace period. As per the TLA, all solicitations MUST include information pertaining to a grace period, regardless if there is one or not.
2. §1026.60(f)(14): Available Credit: As per the TLA, the initial credit limit MUST include ALL initial fees. The initial credit limit does not include the Authorized User Annual Fee.
• Periodic Statement Disclosures – Section §1026.7;1. §1026.7(b)(10): Closing date of billing cycle; new balance: After viewing the current statement online, I have noticed that the statement closing date is not listed anywhere, which, according to TLA §1026.7(b)(13)(a), is another requirement. Also, my current statement balance is reflected as $154.43. This amount is severely incorrect. If one was to look at the payment due date, 9/26, and take the days of the billing cycle, 30, one would reach 8/27. Based on this date, the only transactions to post on, or before, that date is the $19 authorized user annual fee and the $6.95 card design fee. This comes to a total of $25.95, not $154.43. You cannot include transactions BEFORE they post.
2. §1026.7(b)(6)(b): Charges Imposed: According to this part of the TLA, certain charges are supposed to be included under the ‘Fees’ heading. One of these charges includes the credit limit increase fess that you charge, which, by the way, was also never listed on the pre-approved mailing (solicitation).
As you can see, not only do they employ highly deceptive practices (i.e. the 'miswording'), but they also blatantly disregard federal law. On top of all of this, after speaking with a supervisor and getting them to close the account, they have the nerve to say, "By the way, even though your account is now closed, as long as you owe a balance, we will continue to charge you the annual fee." Seriously? The annual fee is to cover the card and the features they give you... How can they still charge me when all of that is gone?

Unfortunately, due to circumstances, I have been a customer of Credit One Bank for just about a year now. Whenever I've had an issue I would, of course, call to attempt to get it resolved. What a crock! The only call centers available are either in India or the Philippines. Aside from being so very difficult to understand, they are not at all helpful. Whatever the issue may be, all they do is repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat again whatever it is they use to disparage your complaint.
When requested to transfer me to someone in the United States, they can never perform such a complicated task. They transfer you to a low-level manager who repeats the same drivel the first agent spewed, and then when one asks to speak with their supervisor it's another ten minutes or so before they get someone above them on the phone, who in turn spits out the exact same scripted garbage they've been tossing at you for about an hour. And, again, nobody available in the United States. But they will request a phone call to you within 24-48 business hours, which, on a Saturday, can be up to 4 days before - if you're lucky - you hear from anyone.
Now, I understand that there is an annual fee required for a credit card such as this, but they charged me at the beginning of October for a November fee. My contention is that the reason for this is so they can accrue additional interest on the account, which to me is tantamount to stealing from the consumer, as is the way they start charging interest the day of a transaction. This is an unacceptable practice that must be stopped.
My account with this company has never been late, and I attempt to pay off the balance every month possible, which has been most months. You would think that a good customer would not be treated like this. Even a bad customer should never be treated like an ignorant fool, just so they can get more money into their greedy pockets.
Everything they do, including outsourcing their call centers to other nations where they don't need to pay a living wage is antithetic to what any reasonable person would consider acceptable customer service. As soon as I am able, I will be canceling this account and moving towards a more friendly and responsible bank for my credit card needs. My recommendation is to stay far far away from Credit One if at all possible.

When you want to pay back your bill COB makes it difficult for the disabled and anyone else. They do not offer a way to pay with your account by phone or automation. They tell you to pay online not everyone has a computer or can they wait 7 day for it to be mailed and be charged late fee. Many people don't have a computer to pay without being charged. They don't want you to pay the money back because they get more money on late fees and express payment fee. If you can't find or lose your card even stole 25.00 replacement card. They need to be sued and I would stand 1st in line if any lawyer would like to take the case and others like it. They have no help for the blind or seeing impaired. So besides the high interests to straighten out your credit you get charged in my case 7.00 for interests 3.00 credit card fee for insurance, 10.00 to make express payment and another 25.00 to send me out a card because mine is lost. They make it difficult to pay your bill back and charge late fee to boot if not paid on time without lenience they really have high tariffs. They stated if I did not make the payment right then and there they would still add on the late fee. I told them I will cut my credit card up and will not use them again. They told me they are going to still charge me the $25 late fee. They did not want to keep my business. So to others that read this: Do not trust Credit One. They are not truthful or honest.

Received my first statement with a late charge. Billing period on statement shows 8/15 to 9/14 so I called the customer service number listed on the statement. They told me that the bill was due 9/10. After questioning how that can be when the billing period ends on the 14th. All the rep would do was ask how I would like to make payment. After repeating myself several times I could not get an answer. I then hear a child in the background and ask where I'm calling. India. Probably to someone's home. Told him to cancel the card. He stated he couldn't and I would have to call customer service on Monday because they are closed. Funny thing...I had just called the customer service number and someone answered. Told him since he wouldn't cancel it that I want to report it lost. Still he told me he couldn't help me. I hung up...called the same number back...and guess what? The customer service department is closed. This is a complete scam!!!

I began to use the card for a month and when the bill was due it slipped my mind and the next day, I get 3 missed calls from them. And when I finally answer I get harassed by a agent from another country telling me I need to pay my bill with debit card now. I ask to speak to manager immediately and tell him I want to cancel the card and pay off the balance. I was given a runaround and placed on hold for about 40 minutes. I am very disappointed with credit one bank. I have had this account for a few years and have paid on time. Having this card has helped me to rebuild my credit, but at a cost. They charge you for a credit line increase, their interest rate is very high as well as even if you want to change the design on your card, they will charge you. My banking institution made a mistake with my payment this month and paid twice, even though I had authorized only one payment. When I informed them of this they rectified the problem and refunded the duplicate payment, but a few days later I found out the refund was from the payment I had made to credit one bank. Therefore, it looks like I had not made my monthly payment, when in fact I had.
I called credit one only to be told that my account had been closed and that a letter had been sent out informing me of this. They did not give me a chance to explain that it was an error on my banking institution's part (I have a letter from the bank stating it was their mistake). Most companies that I am aware of, they will give you a certain amount of time to rectify the problem - not Credit one Bank!! Their customer service is disgusting (to say the least). I guess their call center is based overseas because you never get anyone locally on the phone. They do not seem to have a corporate office either because all the mailing addresses they use are p.o. boxes. It also seems that they must read from a script because you never ever get anyone to go the extra mile to see what they can do to help, they just repeat what you have told them and say that there is nothing that they can do.
After calling about 4 times I got to speak to a supervisor who wasn't too much help, just told me to submit the letter I received from my bank to them and they will investigate (I do not have too much hope that this will be resolved to my satisfaction). Their customer service really needs to be overhauled. It is obvious they do not care about their customers and I really would not recommend them to anyone trying to get a credit card to rebuild their credit. A company like Capital One would be a much better option.

I always have positive experiences with customer service dept. and 800 numbers so I was not worried. The stories are all true! I wanted to call the police. I felt like a hostage with this company. After a year with a fine experience building credit. I stopped using the card had a 0 balance. Then I was being charged monthly fees even though I was not using the card, I wanted to cancel it. They truly hung up on me dozens of times when I asked to terminate my account. I had countless names of people I had spoken to through this process. On one number my call was blocked! I had to use a different 800 number to get to someone. I was in tears by the end of it. It cannot be legal to cancel a person’s account when asked. I finally got a termination # in June 2014. I just checked my account online (Sept. 2014) - it is still OPEN! This company will hold you hostage. Seriously it is not worth this gripe I am going through. To start, we applied for this card and were approved. We never received an actual working credit card, but I know that closing open accounts has a negative effect on your credit, so my husband and I paid the annual fee via check, and left the account open. A year later we receive a bill for $60. I call and they immediately demand $104. I told them that seemed completely ridiculous for an account that we never even used or had an actual card for. On August 4 while on the phone with them it was resolved that I only owed them $30. I agreed to pay this amount under the stipulation that this account would also be completely closed. I confirmed this with them 3 times, that this $30 payment would completely resolve any obligation to them, and they would close the account. Then received another bill from them.
I was pretty furious that they insisted I owed another $60 and the account was still open, after they assured me that it was closed. Now they say we owe $147 (again on an account WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A CARD FOR!!!!). There is never a manager on site that is capable of reviewing the account with us. This company is a JOKE, and frankly abusive to consumers. I am reporting them to every governing agency possible because this is fraud and abuse as far as I'm concerned.

Then they paid on card and because I filed police report, the money that they paid with was returned to them leaving me with account that was maxed and then when the third card came 2 months later, it was paid off. Then the check they used to pay was returned and the bank closed account so I called to see why and was asked my phone number and address which again was changed to another state and I had to almost beg the person from Credit One to put my card as stolen even though bank closed it and I asked why and was told I would receive letter. And I asked, "How will I receive when you do not have my correct address and have not been notified about any of this the problem?" If they use your ss# to ask for your info not card # so whoever this is has my ss# as well and keeps doing this.
I have alerted Equifax and now have an alert on all my accounts but when I call, how do they know it is me or other person. I told them no! The money order had to be in the mail office - make someone go down and check. I spoke to 6 different people for 2 days trying to get someone to check on my payment and they all kept saying my payment has not arrived and the system will apply a late fee & that if I made a payment then that day they would not charge me a fee to do it over the phone. I got this card from credit Karma like many others who have reviewed. The difference is I read the fine print and I knew what I was getting before I activated the card. You have about 21 days after you receive the card to decide whether or not to activate the card. You will receive a statement BUT if you have not activated the card, you DO NOT OWE the $ and you disregard the statement they will close your account as I almost did.
I already had 2 Capital One cards a secured card and a quicksilver that I have had for about 18 mos. rebuilding my credit so I was reluctant to use or activate a fee-based card when I have been building my credit successfully with the Capital One cards that do NOT charge fees. Like I said I almost chose not to activate BUT I decided to go ahead and activate and use the card. Yes it costs 75$ per year to keep the card open which they bill you for immediately.
After the first year that fee is billed in small monthly installments. Now with that being said I have always been sure to make my payment on time so I have not encountered any problems. Since this card is fee-based, you can very well expect if you do not pay on time you will be charged a late fee! So just pay on time like anyone sincerely trying to build credit would do and you will get exactly what you should expect from this company if you do that and read the fine print in regard to fees.
Is it the best card out there? NO but there are no hidden fees or deceptiveness. It is all there, you just have to read the agreement. When you have less than perfect credit the nature of the beast to rebuild is to pay higher fees for a couple years or LONGER IF YOU PAY LATE! My Suggestion is if you want the BEST card out there for rebuilding credit go with the Capital one secured card. This card does require you to send money upfront in my case 98.00$, sometimes it is up to 200$ and you will not get this $ back as long as you keep your card open. So look at it as an investment in to your credit and how bad you want to rebuild it?
Capital ONE does fully refund when you close your card out BUT closing your card doesn't help build your credit and if you wanna raise your limit on this card, you must deposit additional $. Now they will give you credit raises periodically for example in less than 2 years they have given me an additional 2 raises totaling 750.00. They also approved me for an unsecured card with a 300$ limit and after I paid on time for 6 months, they gave me a 200$ raise. So I am thinking of closing the secured card after another a year and getting my $ refunded but not until the new card has been open at least 2 years because closing your oldest card will drop your credit score as well.
So like I said rebuilding costs $. You have to decide how much your credit means to you and whether to make the investment and who to make it with? A company that you can pay a minimal amount each month such as Credit One Bank? Or Capital One you may have to send 200.00 upfront but will raise your score a LOT and pretty fast! You will see good results within 6 months and even better results in 1 year! You should raise your score with either card "if you pay on time!

Starting in June 2014 Credit One started to block the vendor. The vendor doesn't have this problem with any other VISA cards. I contacted Credit One and they used the excuse that it was to protect me from unauthorized use. I explained that I had been doing business with this company since 2011 and they should flag my account to always allow this vendor to apply charges to my card. After being on hold forever and speaking with a supervisor I was told they were sorry for the inconvenience and that there would not be a problem again. Well guess what? In July I again had to call and go through the drill again. Again being told by a supervisor that the account had been flagged and there would not be a problem again. Lied to again!!!!!
On Aug. 21, 2014 it happened again. Another call, another "I'm so sorry," the charge will go through in 24 hours. NOT!!!! I called again today (8/25/14) furious, explained that they were holding up an order that I needed to fill - an order for a customer and that I could understand if I was behind on a payment or something of that nature but my bill was always paid before due and most of the time paid I full each month. The supervisor again said sorry for the inconvenience. That the problem was that I made the request to allow the charge on the weekend and that would have to re-request to allow the charge. I told her that the request was made on Thursday not on the weekend and that I was told that the charge would be allowed within 24 hours and it had not.
After another long wait she came back on the line and told me that the charge would be allowed to go through immediately. But that’s because I had requested to allow this charge to be allowed twice in the past that as of Sept. 1, 2014 the vendor would no longer be allowed on my cc. I would have to make use of another CC. I told her that would not be a problem!!! I thanked her, hung up, waited about 20 minutes. Called my vendor and told them they could place the charge. In addition to that, my husband was recently informed that Credit One has NOT MADE A SINGLE UPDATE ON MY CREDIT SINCE FEBRUARY 2014. When I called to close the account, I questioned why no reports or updates have been made. The supervisor, Nancy, told me that she doesn't have an answer for me because another department handles credit information. I then asked to be transferred to that department and was told that department doesn't take customer calls - HMM, WONDER WHY. I was told a request has been submitted to this mysterious credit department and I would receive a call within 48 hours to discuss why not a single report has been made. I'm so relieved to have finally closed this account. Hands down the worst bank EVER and I would advise anyone thinking about opening an account with them to reconsider.

THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!! I have almost ten credit cards, and three different bank accounts and I have never had such terrible customer service in my life. First, none of the representatives can clearly speak English. I have been yelled at, and even hung up on by a supervisor! I had scheduled a payment arrangement for a late payment. Mind you it was my first late payment since I had the card and it had been late because I had to close my bank accounts due to identity theft. After letting them know this, it took about 6 different phone calls until I was finally able to get a supervisor to waive the late fee and it was only because the previous supervisor had told me "that's not my problem and we cant help you," *click* and he hung up on me. After calling and hanging up on every representative that would not listen to me and was rude I finally got someone to listen to what I was saying instead of over talking me constantly and just demanding money.
Anyways the payment arrangement was scheduled for two days later as it was a weekend and I was not able to get into a bank to open a new account to pay from. They said in order to make the arrangement they had to have a checking account number and asked if they could use the one on file. I informed them that that account was closed and I would be opening a new one on Monday (two days from the time of the call). They said that was fine, to call Monday with the new information and to make the payment. I called today (Monday) and was told we're sorry we already processed the payment and I informed them that they wouldn't be receiving any payment that that account was no longer active as I stated to them earlier.
They said I could make the payment now but that I would be charged 9.95 for making the payment the day of (never heard of that in my life). Why make a due date if you’re going to be charged for paying it on the due date??!!! It would only be free if paid earlier...ya ok? After I argued that I wasn't going to make the payment then they agreed to not charge the $10 fee. I was then told however would be charged $25 for the payment they processed that was going to be returned. SO of course I then argued that was ridiculous because they were told not to use that account that it was no longer open and they did anyway...now I have to call back in two days after they get the payment returned and ask them to waive the $25 charge.
I have a feeling this will not go well.. I will never use this card again. I want it paid off and hopefully never have to contact them again. I was tempted to not even pay it today because everyone is so rude and not helpful. NEVER AGAIN.

Like many others, I also got taken by this scheme. Was pre-approved with a $1500 limit but when I got the card it had a $1000 limit. Thought ok, that's cool. Had their card for maybe 2 weeks and only charged $25 on it in total. Got a call one morning saying that I hadn't made a payment yet and that I was late by 3 days. Told the 4 different supervisors that I haven't even received a statement yet. All I got from them was that I had to have and that I was wrong. Went down to the bank after feeling pressured and put $50 in my acct and called them back and made a $45 payment over the phone and was told that by doing it this way would incur the $9 fee. I flat out told them that I wasn't going to pay that and they lowered it to $4.95. Then checked this bank online and was shocked to read all of us complaining about the way they treat people and the way they do business. Then the next day I got my first statement and was shocked to see a prior balance!! I had the card 2 weeks! Fed up, went back to bank put in balance of statement and called to close out the acct. They wouldn't let me and actually got hung up on.
Called the next day to close out again and was told me ok. Was then told that they would send me a new card and new acct # and told them no, that I didn't want new card, new acct over and over. Guess what? Got new card in the mail... People do everything you can to rid yourselves of them. Call the credit monitoring businesses, report them to your states attorney generals office and monitor yourself.... CYA. This bank won't do it for you. Get a confirmation letter from Credit One stating that your acct has been closed with zero balance. If you don't get it from them, call and call again till you do. Sorry this has been so long but I'm trying to help everyone that happens to deal with them. They are very rude and will send you from person to person on the phone without accomplishing anything. And yes, I have excellent credit AND pay all my bills on time. Good luck.

I only knew this 2 days after my due date and I checked my bank account and I saw the payment had not been extracted from my account. It's Saturday night and I tried calling them but of course no live customer service but the automated service states payment posted on the 12th then payment returned on 15th (my due date is the 15th) and yes, I have money in bank to cover payment.. I have had a Credit One account for several years. Foolish me! I have paid it off several times only to use it again. They are the ONLY company that charges a fee at least of the 10 creditors that I deal with to pay your payment over the phone. (Free if you pay online.) I have always kept my account in good standing. Maybe the balance was high, however I paid it on time. I have been very ill and unable to make this payment and I tried to call them and let them know. I was on hold 25 minutes. Nurses running in and out of the room. Once I got home, I could not log into my account. I was 10 days late at this time and need to pay $60.00. So I called the company at the number on the website (24 hours a day), they were closed. The next morning a very RUDE man with an India thick accent told me my account balance was $$$ and I BETTER pay right NOW. I said "Excuse me, I do not know who you are, but you do not disrespect me. There is a reason my usual promptness has not been met this month and you will NOT talk to me like that."
He told me then I BETTER pay 60.00. I told him he better have someone with some customer service call me because he wasn't getting credit for collecting ANYTHING from me. So again I went to the computer to try to make the payment. My user name and password would not work. I went through the process and received a new one. The form said it was accepted and complete return to the login to make a payment. I did. Password and username did not work. I closed the window, went to my e-mail to see if there were any kind of e-mail stating a problem. No, there was not. So I called the automated number. Now this time (within minutes of the man calling) it stated I owe $87.00 payment, not $60.00 as HE stated and what my statement stated and the closing date has not occurred. I cannot talk to anyone to pay. I cannot access the website. The man added some sort of charge to my account. I do not want to cancel the account because it is an old account with a good history.
I AM calling the BBB and filing a lawsuit first thing on Monday if I cannot find someone willing to reverse this charge made in retaliation. Why are they having people who obviously cannot speak English, obviously have no respect for whom they are talking to, and it certainly is NOT customer service. I am to the point of saying to heck with it. Closing the account out and paying them the bare minimum till frogs grow hair!

I was approved for a $300 limit. When I received the card, all $300 was available so I used it. The next day, a $75 charge appeared. Granted that did upset me. But that wasn't my problem. When I made a regular FREE payment from my checking account, days passed & the payment was never debited. A week later, I logged on to the card website to see that the payment was reversed. I couldn't believe it. I called customer service (out of the country) to find out what happened. When I went over my bank account information, they claimed that I accidentally added an extra zero on the end of my checking account. Twice.
COME ON NOW! I knew at that moment that Credit One was a scam. I knew it because you're only given two electronic payment options. Free with your checking account or $9.95 fee to pay with your debit card. There's no way in this life I would enter my checking account number incorrectly twice in a row. They did this to frustrate and trap a customer into paying that $9.95 payment service fee. I reentered my checking account info again 3 days ago and the money still hasn't been debited. If they do the same thing, I'm filing a complaint with the consumer financial protection bureau. Don't do business with this company. It isn't worth it.

Good:
I was approved for $400 even though I am in the middle of a Chapter 13 bankruptcy (meaning I am paying it off and haven't gotten it discharged yet). My credit score is 633. I was never asked for income information or any other documentation. My card worked the first time I tried to use it at a major grocery store chain gas station. When I called CO, the lady I spoke to spoke English well.
Bad:
I never asked for a card for my wife, but I did want one. When my card arrived, they sent one for her, too! I accepted an online offer. It never mentioned her or asked me if I wanted an authorized user. I wanted one so I kept expecting it. I was never prompted. How did they even know my wife's name?! I called Credit One. The lady I spoke to said an automated machine (an automated phone call) requested it. Baloney! Today was the first day I have ever called Credit One. I asked the lady if she had my wife's SSN. She said no. Since when in this day and age does a bank issue a credit card without having the SSN of the cardholder on record, even if it is just an authorized user? I gave the lady my wife's SSN since I do want this reported to the credit bureaus. Let's see how this pans out. She said they report to the three credit bureaus every 30 days.
Available credit data: Which one is right? My account was opened and initial fees of $45 annual fee and $19 authorized user fee were posted. I bought gas for $49. I made a payment to CO of $113. I signed up for daily emails for my account balance and available credit. They reflect the numbers I expect of available credit $400 and balance of $0. The website snapshot and the automated phone system don't. They show available $287. Plus, the phone system says my payment won't be available for another 4 business days even though my payment did post to the account on Aug 8th. This appears to be because CO has not yet charged my bank account. Let's see how this pans out.

So as of 8/8/14, I activated my Credit One Bank card with a credit limit of $300. Not much but it’s been a long time since anyone has approved me for a credit card because my score is low. So I thought okay great, I got a foot in the door to start trying to rebuild my credit. I didn't know they charge a fee of $6.95 to pick a certain design for your card. Nowhere on their website did I remember reading that but okay, not big deal. When the first bill comes out I'll pay on time and start successful and on the right path with this card $.
Now I wake up this morning 8/9/14 to check my account in which I often do because I don't trust companies & I have a new balance of $81.95 =-0??? What happened. I only spent $10 plus the $6.95 I owe for the design. How did I get from $6.95 to $81.95 in under 24 hours of using the card for the first time ever of only spending $10? Do they charge you $50 to spend $10. This card is nothing what I thought it would be. Don't waste your time. If they offer you a letter in the mail telling you your pre-approved let the dog pee on it, light it on fire and flush it down the toilet because by the time you even begin to pay all the misc fees, it won't even be worth your time and money to try a raise your score.
I'm appalled with this card because when I talk to customer service just yesterday the lady told me my due date wouldn't be for a while, and I couldn't change my due date until a billing cycle of two months. I never seen a credit card that didn't even take a least 25 or 30 days to go through a normal billing cycle before you start owing them but the next day is completely ridiculous!!! My advice to anyone who reads this post is if you’re looking to rebuild your credit in which this day and age 92% are, do it the legit way with a company that is truly going to try and help you and not scam and lie and charge you a fee just because it’s another day of you being a cardholder with their company.
Apply with Capital One for a secured card. You'll have to make a deposit of $49, $99, or $200 or more if you want a higher credit limit but it’s worth it because they’re not charging you every day high fees just to touch the card. Or try Lexington Law, they may charge you a minimum of $100 to take your files and start you off, but I guarantee over time your score will increase & your debts will decrease and you'll be able to get the credit card you truly deserve. I took what I thought was the quick and easy way to lift my score over time but I was tricked with applying for this card. I'm going to pay off my balance, cancel my card, and run like hell!!

I did find my card that very night so I then call to verify that I found it. At that time I thought it was settled but when I went online I was unable to sign on because it said account is temporary suspended.
When I call and talk to someone I know, on average I speak to 3 people including supervisors, managers and to this day still unable to get into my account. My credit score has come up and they have given me regular credit increases. The only way this company will not work for you is if you are irresponsible. Plain and simple!! I have never had an issue with payments not going through or getting lost. I have never had their website crash. I have never had my card denied anywhere. If you are using this in moderation to rebuild your credit, you can't go wrong.

I have bad credit due to collection accounts. Only Credit One and First Premier will issue me a credit card which is necessary in order to re-build my credit. I decided to apply for a Credit One card because First Premier sets borrowers up to default on their credit cards with multiple fees and a 36.99% interest rate. Credit One has a first year fee of $75 which after the first year becomes a $6.25 monthly service charge and 23.90% interest rate.
I understand that I'm a poor credit risk to credit card companies and that I must make at least the minimum monthly payment on time to keep my account in good standing. It is also a bad idea to max out the credit limit. This card is a chance to show credit worthiness and should be treated as such. I am grateful for a chance to rebuild credit and to not have to do business with First Premier.

Since I have called over and over again and cancelled the card I still get a bill every month. Then my husband and I had just let our cards expire then not renew them. Well that does not work either. This is the ONLY company that you do not renew your cards, they do!!!!! I need help how do I get rid of these people without ruining my credit????
Does anybody know what course of action that we need to take from here? They are charging us a fee for two cards, a yearly service fee monthly and an insurance fee that we never asked for so with a zero balance our bill is $29.81 a month and nobody that speaks that I can understand or doesn't get angry and hangs up that is with the company.

My credit limit isn't high enough to really worry about that. I keep trying to use my card and having it declined consistently makes me lose face in the community. Is anyone else having that issue? I called them and tried to work with them on getting these charges taken care of. During this I discovered they had sent an additional card to the thief that was using my account. When I called to inform them and to cancel that card, they acted as if I was the criminal. After months of fighting with the credit card company, I am still attempting to get the account closed and be done with this company.
EVERY month when I receive my statement, I have more charges on it. I have cut up the card, told them to cancel every card they have in my name (that they sent out to the wrong people) and to not authorize ANY transactions. I call every month and every month I get nowhere with these people. IF YOU WANT A CREDIT CARD TO REBUILD YOUR CREDIT OR FOR ANY OTHER REASON, DO NOT PICK CREDIT ONE. I don't even think credit one bank will give credit to anybody with average to good credit, its ONLY FOR BAD CREDIT PEOPLE. The fact that you have a card (like me) means your credit was screwed up. Whether it was your fault or not, does not matter. I personally could not be happier with the card. It has served its purpose for me, and at the 1 year mark I will be asking them for a couple things:
2) Waive all card fees
3) Lower rate
If I do not get at least #1 and #2, I will cancel on the spot. Regarding the card, I still could not be happier, but now that I have other higher limit credit cards it's time to fire Credit One Bank. My husband and I opened a Credit One account this year to help improve his line of credit. We had a foreclosure in the past. Last week, we had gone away for our anniversary and put a $75 hold on our card for room charges, TV, bar tab, etc, on June 9. The day after checking out of the hotel, Wednesday, we called Credit One and were told the hold would be released in 24 to 48 hours from checkout. On Friday, we again called as it had not been credited and were told that ALL holds are kept for 7 days and our card would be credited June 17, which was 8 days from the initial hold. Today, June 17, still no credit. I called and was told that holds are kept 7-10 days. At which point I confront about the other two times being told. The woman states that it was a misunderstanding on our part. Actually I know online it stated the 17th. So I say "So you are guaranteeing that the credit will be there Thursday, the 19th, which is ten days". Her answer "It SHOULD be. Sorry for any inconvenience". We don't want to take a hit to our credit, but if this is how they lie, then as soon as the card is paid off we will be cancelling it, and they were informed of such.

About three years ago I started rebuilding my credit. I started out with 2 secured credit cards and made on time payments for over a year. I wanted to add an unsecured credit card to my portfolio so I went with Credit One. My credit was still shaky at the time and I felt this was the best route for me. It took a while to receive the card. That is my only complaint. I have read some of these posts and it really sounds like a nightmare for some people. My advice.... read the fine print. It's not a very wise move to apply for credit with a bank and not know the terms. Very unwise.
I received my card and of course on the first statement was the annual fee. It was $75 which is exactly what they told me. I made sure I made on time payments and every payment I submitted posted when they promised and was available when they promised. Knowing there is a difference between posting and availability, everything went as expected. I used this card strictly for recurring monthly accounts like my gym, Netflix and Pandora and I used it responsibly because IT IS a rebuilding card for people who have BAD CREDIT and those cards can carry fees and penalties.
I am now closing my account but again because I read their terms and conditions, I understand that after I make my last payment there may be a possibility of a balance BECAUSE they charge interest the day after you make a purchase. There is no 30 day grace period and they state that. This was a great card to help me get my credit straight, and because there are severe penalties and fees for late payments, I learned to take care of business properly and use it responsibly. This was not a bad card.

He then told me to hold while he checked my account and then he responded by saying that they do not send out letters or notices of closed accounts.

I overdrafted by a couple hundred dollars, had an issue with Sprint bill of about $200 and then lost my job in my early 20's causing my car to be repossessed. Add a deferred student loan and no other credit and you can't get a credit card from anyone... EXCEPT Credit One Bank. I had to pre-load the card with $300.00. Every month without fail I attempt to log into the website to make a payment and receive an error message that my account has been 'suspended'. This started to happen on my second month! I have made multiple requests for them to fix their website since then and at this point it appears they are purposefully locking the site when payments are due so that a late fee can be charged.
Interest is high and I do NOT recommend getting a credit card with this company. The only thing this company has done for me is get me offers from better reputable companies. If you absolutely cannot get a card from anyone else I suggest only using a VERY small amount of credit in order to lure in the GOOD companies, then do everything you can to pay off your balance and cancel the card immediately. But honestly, even that is not recommended as I see the charges for just $10.00 in gas rack up and aren't worth the fees you pay.
Customer service hasn't been rude but they don't help resolve issues. IMPORTANT TIP FOR CURRENT CUSTOMERS: if you see the site is 'down' or 'suspending/locking' your account, create a new id and password every single month before your payment is due to get into the account. It's the only workaround that has helped me to make payments as customer service is of no help. I'm cancelling this card in the next few months. Good Riddance!

They told me this two days ago and I checked CreditKarma.com today and lo and behold they have closed my account? What a scam! My payments are all up to date and the ONLY issue I ever had was the wrong routing number on two payments I made IN THE SAME MONTH to try and bring down my balance in good faith. I received a credit card and used it. I paid it off and was advised that I was being charged an additional fee. I refused to pay the fee. After one year I checked my credit report and found it shows an outstanding balance of $430 owed to LVNV Funding in Houston. I called to discover Credit One had sent an account to collection under my name for an unpaid balance on the credit card. When I asked what the balance was for the collection agency said they did not have that information, only an amount that will continue to grow at a 20% interest rate. I guess Credit One has the authority to send to collection any amount they dream up under a person's name and it never goes away? Where does one go to complain about this scam?

I received a bill from them on 4/25/14 in the mail that says I have a previous balance of $81.95, and again I've never used this card. I've been charged $25.00 late and I've never even received a bill. This is the first one. They're saying my balance on the bill is $109.48, and I have never used the card. I come home from work about 9:00 pm on the 25th of April and had this in the mail. Tried to call and could not reach anyone about this, and I'm furious about it. I will be calling them first thing Monday morning and hope to get this resolved. The card will be cut up and never even think about ever using it. But if that is the only problem, plan accordingly. On a positive note, my credit score has gone up over one hundred points. You need to STOP complaining and pay your bill and make this card work for you, not you work for it. Use the card like a debit card not a credit card. That said, pay the bill in full and use the card to pay your bills. If your limit is $400.00 pay the $400.00. Then pay your phone, cable, gas, groceries, then pay it again on the next pay and repeat. Again make the card work for you... STOP complaining...

I have read numerous reviews about Credit One bank credit card. I find it quite hilarious that people are complaining about paying their bills on time on only a 300 dollar credit limit... The card was designed to provide credit for those who do not qualify for a higher credit limit with lower APR rates. The card charges a fee because those who apply usually have bad credit. The Bank protects itself from default by charging you fees that it can recoup in the likelihood that one defaults on their credit. They also call you if you are late because the majority of Credit One card holder have a history of defaulting or not paying their bills on time.
There is no scam whatsoever. It is a financial product that provides credit and emergency money for individuals who need it. It is a tool that if used responsibly can help rebuild one's credit. Responsibility is key to effectively getting the most out of any credit card product including Credit One Bank. Once an individual pays their bills on time and keeps a low balance, Credit one will reward you buy raising the limit on the card. This should only be used to build one's credit back up. Once your credit score is an acceptable range 670+ this card should be cancelled as you will qualify for much better Credit cards that will provide a higher credit limit with low APR. Responsibility and spending within one's means is key.

You incur annual fees charged to your account before you even receive the card in the mail and before you activate it. Also a selection of design of the card is charged. This total is about $109 out of maximum amount of $300 credit line in which only $75 can be taken out for cash. The interest is 23%+ which is ridicules. When you call an obvious American number you will find that you are talking to some scammers in India who are rude and are trying to get more personal information from you.

They then said sorry to hear and hung up. A few days later a letter showed up from them asking for a copy of my DEATH CERTIFICATE. They obviously have freaking morons working for them as they cannot understand "OUT OF THE COUNTRY" and take that as you have died.
There is not 1 single email address to contact them, only 800, 866, and 877 numbers. I wasted $50 on cell phone charges to contact them so I could tell them they messed up and I was alive and trying to make a payment. Since they closed my account immediately, I was not able to make a payment. They did want me to return to the USA get an affidavit signed by a notary. Now since I was out of the country and not to return for quite some time, I had no way of doing this whatsoever. The account went to collections, and was eventually paid off after I came back home.
At this time, and the account has been paid off for about 6 months now, they have marked the account as charged off, even though I have paid this account off in full to them. They should be shut down and forced out of the country as they do not even have people that speak English working for them, at best they TRY to speak English. I said that's weird I just made a $75.00 payment not more than 3 weeks ago and they would waive the late fee. My problem with this credit card company is that THEY SOLD ME A RATE INCREASE... I BOUGHT A $150.00 CREDIT INCREASE AND THEN 2 WEEKS LATER, THEY CANCELLED MY CARD. THEY CLOSED MY ACCOUNT. They said I had a return check in May, and supposedly one in August and part of their Credit Card agreement is that if you have a return check they cancel your credit card.
I checked my bank in May – None. In August, I paid a day too soon - of which I did have a return check and they canceled my credit card! It's funny, when I see that it was returned I made an ACH Payment $169.00 and there was no problem. They NEVER TOLD ME MY CARD WAS CANCELLED. I found out when I went use it and when I checked my account. They blocked the website so I couldn't make a payment. I called them, they unblocked my account and I asked them if there was any more problems with this account and was told no. I went to make a payment again and they had blocked the website again. I called them again and they let me know that they suspended my account until I provide to them the last 6 months of my bank statements of which I DO NOT FEEL 6 MONTHS OF MY STATEMENTS THEY NEED!
So I am talking to this woman (Very nice), she suggest that I talk to the Supervisor and this guy Dale gets on the phone of which claims to be a Manager. And he begins just talking over me and down to me… telling I don't pay my bills, trying to talk over me. I cursed at him, telling him to shut up and I asked to speak to his manager or someone in his legal department so I can get this resolved, because of all this BS, it has dinged me 46 points on my credit report.
The Idiot tells me I am not going to talk to anyone. I will deal with him, that all I have to do is pay my bill. I DO NOT RECEIVE STATEMENTS ANY LONGER, AND I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE DUE DATE is. He tells me I am full of excuses, nothing but excuses as I am telling him to get someone in his legal department. All I want to do is take care of this and move on. Again yelling over me. He tells me NO, that I will do with him.
I told him what Credit One did was ILLEGAL. You can't sell a Credit line increase and then close account a few days later for something that happened the following month or 4 months prior. He REFUSED TO ALLOW ME TO TALK TO ANYONE BUT HIM REGARDING THIS CARD. AND HE REFUSED TO ALLOW ME TO TALK AND ALL HE DID WAS TALK OVER ME SAYING DEMEANING THINGS. I DO NOT AND WILL NOT BE HARASSED BY THE COMPANY IDIOT. I can assure you their Legal Department would have something to say in regards to this idiot. After being approved, I was mailed the card. I was extended the minimum credit limit, although I have other cards. Initially, I thought it was a Capital One invitation. THIS WAS MY OVERSIGHT, I take full responsibility. I have since been approved and accepted a Capital One card, and I am happy with their service to date. CreditOne has their logo branded that way for a reason. Had I realized it was not Capital One, I would have further researched this company and passed.
I did not receive a statement. Called the number and was told I would be charged an additional $9.95 to make payment. I did not approve that. I would wait and mail a check... They were going to cut the PAYMENT FEE in half...again, NO thank you. They waived the fee. In a very difficult to understand dialect, the rep insisted to me that we were GOING TO UP my payment by $25.00. Um, NO. I'm making more than your minimum, I've NEVER been harassed by any company to UP my payment amount...
The first representative then handed me off to a Customer Service Specialist... WHY? I don't know... AFTER another few minutes, he passed me off to Customer Service Specialist two, and person number THREE, who ONCE AGAIN INSISTED I UP my payment by $25.00. Perhaps if I would have received a statement, I would have paid the entire balance, but what I pay is MY choice. As I was on the phone, I began searching reviews, because I was appalled at the phone conversation. My BIGGEST CONCERN was reading reviews of customers that had JUST paid off their balances and to their surprise, the card was used fraudulently.
CreditOne DID NOT remove the fraudulent charges, the customers were held liable. Of course this was in the reviews, and I have no documentation, but multiple users explained the same situation, raising a red flag to me. I was on the phone and wasted more than 25 minutes just to make a simple payment. No thank you. There are PLENTY OF GOOD companies that will assist you in rebuilding your credit, Victoria's Secret is one, and they are great to deal with. They offered me my first card following my divorce...! And it looks pretty good on me, and I would say give it a go!
In my personal opinion, I would say... Think twice about this company. If you can afford all their FEES, put your money away and get a prepaid credit card from your bank. It's YOUR money AND you can rebuild your credit, with NO OUTRAGEOUS FEES!! Their fees are VERY HIGH... There are other cards with more moderate fees, better customer service and reputation. Customer service is contracted in India (not a bad thing, but come on, if your an American Company, Outsourcing customer service is pretty low). Even DirecTV discontinued outsourcing after years of problems and complaints. Reps are hard to understand, and that's just a fact, not an opinion.
I'm not calling this out as a bias, I had to ask a few times to have something repeated. There was never once in MY conversation a "Thank you, excuse me, or how can I help you...?" That goes a long way with ME. Unpleasant to deal with, and take A LOT of your time...(how much are YOU WORTH an hour), and a hard sell to increase your payment... For me, NO THANKS. I will not use this card any longer. Thanks, but no thanks. - Feb 09, 2014

I then rec'd calls asking for the $75 annual usage fee and a late fee of $35 plus they said I used the card making a purchase of $1.29 on iTunes, Never happened. I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was called over and over asking to pay my balance with a debit card and refused. I have not heard from them recently, however I will be monitoring my credit report for their derogatory claims. Do not sign up for this card.

I deposited $200 for an increase in credit limit. Was charged $27.00 for the privilege. Instead of a credit to my account I have been billed as if I used the $200 which was added to my balance and I was reported to the credit bureau for going over my limit together with being late which I was not since they applied my deposit incorrectly and my credit score dropped They are frauds! I now have to fight this!!

I've had CreditOne Visa card for almost seven years and was NEVER late to the point they kept increasing my limit (for a fee, of course). I started with $300 and gradually went up to $1425. This past December was the first time I made the payment on the due date and it successfully went through, just like the previous 69 or so months. Days later I went online to check on the posting of the payment, I found out that it did in fact post on time, however, there was a $25 late fee.
I called the number on the back of card and an Indian woman answered the phone who told me that even though my payment was made on the due date, however, it was received 2 HOURS and 50 MINUTES late and that she couldn't remove the $25 late fee. I told her that I had been a customer in an exceptional standing for almost seven years but she still refused to waive the late fee at which point I asked her to cancel my account effective immediately.

Unfortunately, I can't get a rep who speaks or understands English therefore cannot understand my issue. I pay an annual fee, I no longer use this account, it served its purpose and helped me re-establish credit. I called to have the account closed, and will continue to pay off balance, I double and triple the minimum payment, they agreed but they still want to charge me a monthly fee of close to $9.00, an annual fee for using the card. I asked if the account is closed and I am NOT using it, how can you charge that fee? They could not answer. So they are continuing to charge that amount monthly, again a fee for "using" the card. What can I do?!

Without going into detail, 2013 was the worst year of my life. I was considering bankruptcy but decided to call my creditors and try to work out my finances. ALL of them with the exception of Credit One was willing to work out payment plans and defer late fees to allow me to pay my bills off without filing bankruptcy. I was asked to borrow money from friends and family members and if I had something to take to the pawn shop. Capital One on the other hand deferred late fees and accepted payments of $25.00 a month to allow me to catch my bills up. I have worked and earned my own money and paid my own way since I was 13. It is killing me to think I may have to default on this loan or file bankruptcy. It does me no good to pay what I can if they are adding a 35-dollar late fee every month.

I received my statement from Credit One Bank with the due date of the 1st of the month. My bank takes 2 days to send a payment. Credit One processed the payment on the 2nd of the month and charged me $25.00 late fee. I asked them to close out the account and they charged me another late fee to close the account even though I made the payment on the 16th of the current month. I would never use this Institution for any reason, not only that but I called them 7 times and asked to speak to an agent in the USA.
They hung up on me all seven times promising to transfer me to an agent. They were rude and uncaring as I tried to review my payment history with them. These were the supposed Supervisors. After all of this, I'm finding that there is no one for a customer to speak to so they can have their issues resolved... NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU NEED A CARD, DO NOT USE THIS BANK...

This Credit One Bank is such a rip off! I made my payments on time and they are telling me that I was late on one of the months I made my payment. I have everything on record. My payments are submitted before the due date but they posted my payment on my account late. Me, as the cardholder should not get penalized of their late payment posting. They are such a big rip off to the credit industry!!!!

I received a promotional letter and respond. I was given $1500.00 credit line and about 2 weeks later, I received a bill for $75.00. The bill was for the annual use cost of the credit card. My first payment is due 01/14/2014 and I have not even used the credit card. On the application there was no mention of a $75.00 annual fee. This is almost like the old "Bait and Switch" scam.

I received a letter indicating they wanted verification from my bank of $1,000+ plus payment that I had made... Well the only payment I made was $60.00. I called and when the woman (who barely spoke English) asked me my email address... that's not the address in her records, nor is it my DOB, my home address, my telephone #. She informs me that someone changed all of these things online, paid the bill with an obvious bogus bank account and then tried to charge $900+ at NewEgg.com. Well from a $1,048.00 balance, my balance is $3186.88. They are crazy scam artists. And what people were saying about being late with a payment... my son was away and I paid his credit card bill, except I paid the wrong one on the wrong date... They called him and called him a liar, and said they were bringing him to collections and all sorts of BS like that... Then they call and hang up and repeat and repeat.
This is not a bank in my opinion... this is MOB tactics. When you question fraudulent activity on a credit card from a legitimate bank... they put those charges aside until everything is straightened out. Not these people. Trust me, as soon as they figure out that I am not the one who is fraudulent, I am paying them off in full and they can Kiss my Sicilian **.

My husband and I both have bad credit. We apply for the Credit One card because we need a credit card to improve our credit. Well, the first week we got charges only for card activation, like 80 dollars. We pay off the balance every time we use the card. But there is always an excuse to charge a little extra money. This month is an annual fee for 8 dollars plus 5 dollars fee for something else they posted in my transactions and even when we are not using the card anymore they're still posting transaction fees every month. I would like to recommend Capital One for those who need a credit card, to improve their credit. They are very honest company and they charge only what is fair. Credit One is the worst bank ever! The are offering me a credit line increase and I have to pay them for that. Isn't that crazy!

My experience with this company was that if you are even 2 days late, they will call you and rudely harass you for payment. They don't want to hear you get paid tomorrow or that you will pay it online. They will demand payment while they have you on the phone. Oh, and don't bother misplacing your card because they will try and charge you $50 for a new one. A late fee was wrongly assessed to my account and after being on the phone for over a half hour with someone I could barely understand, they waived the fee. I finally got tired of the nonsense and requested they close my account. They did NOT and have so far added $300 in fees and interest to an account that should have been closed a year ago. They also harassed and called my wife upwards of 20+ times a day, with calls beginning before 8 am and well after 6 pm. If you can, AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. It is NOT worth it.

I put in an application with this company over six weeks ago. I checked on line and the website told me that the application is still pending. I call the customer service department on 12/20/13. I would told that the application takes three weeks to process. This includes the time that it takes to send the card to my address. Well now it is 01/02/13 (I need the card for Christmas travels). I called the customer service department. I got this rude customer service representative by the name of Rebecca. Not only way this representative very rude but she kept trying to talk over me. I informed her that it has been over a month and I have not received this so called preapproved credit card (which like many others on this site I thought it was capital one). She informed me that a letter has been sent to me because they need a copy of my social security card and/or a copy of my license. I told her that I want to cancel the process and to remove my information from the system. She proceeded to try to talk over me telling me trying to explain that this card is to issue to improve my credit.
After I got done tell her to not talk over me I proceed to tell her that my credit is fair and is not bad and that I wanted her to stop the process of the card and to remove my information from the system. I also asked that she opt me out of receiving anymore offers from this bank. She told me that it would take 72 hour to cancel the processing of the application. I informed her that she only has 72 hours to remove my information and that I am going to check again if my information is still in the system she will be hearing from me and the better business bureau. I told her that I feel like this is a scam and why would you need a copy of my license and SS# to approve a preapproved credit card. I will keep everyone updated on the outcome of this mess.. I really hoping at this point that I do not get identity thief.

Once I decided to call and activate the call, I was informed that I had a balance of $80 something dollars and had never used the card. So before I had even activated the card I owed them money?!?! THAT'S CRAZY!!! I will be paying off this credit card and closing immediately... There are too many credit card companies... Capital One being that don't charge these kind of fees! Totally uncomfortable doing business with a company that would charge such a large fee before I even had the chance to activate the card. A few months ago, my card was hijacked and used for purchases at Best Buy (like the others on this page), the equivalent of "Seamless" in Great Britain, other charges for cash advances in Las Vegas (where they say their corporate headquarters is, but it isn't, according to another poster - I have yet to confirm this), other charges in India, and several other charges. I live in Brooklyn and was nowhere near these places when the charges were made. I called right away, when they told me I had something like an $800 balance on the card, when I had not even used it. I expected to use it to build credit, so I always paid it off right away after small purchases. When I called, like all of the other posters here, I was sent on a long chain of speaking to many "supervisors", none of whom were passable English speakers. None of them could help me and seemed angry at me for not paying the bill. I told them there were fraudulent charges, and they told me, like the other posters here, that I would have to wait 90 days until their "fraud dept" could look into it.
I suspect that their entire company is the "fraud dept", so they should be experts at this - all. They would not allow me to speak with anyone about this problem and hung up on me. I didn't pay the bill, of course, as it was not mine to pay. In addition, and take note everyone - the same card I used to pay off the balance at Credit One was also compromised at the same time. My identity was stolen and I had to change my cards at my own bank. It was a huge pain, with other fraud charges at my own bank from the same locations as the ones from Credit One (just like other posters here). Naturally, I don't want to pay them a dime. This is seemingly a scam company. I waited the 90 days and they miraculously removed the $800 charges, but now they tell me I owe them interest and late fees!! They also claim that they can't produce records of these charges so I can see what they are. They explain they were charges from before my card was stolen, in addition to the late fees ($35 per month and interest!) because I should have been paying them all along(?)
Any decent company would have put a hold on the account and gotten to figuring out the fraud right away. In addition to this, after my fraud report, I asked them to close my account (Chase would do this automatically) but they kept it open, and more fraudulent charges accrued! I had to ask them three times to close the card, on three separate calls. Apparently, it is now closed. Also I had a credit limit of $300 on the card, yet, they allowed it to go over the limit to more than $1000 to accommodate these illegal and fraudulent charges. Of course, I am not going to use my newly reissued card or any check from my bank account to reveal anything else about myself to them to pay them any "Late fees" or "interest" - especially on fraudulent charges, and I am certainly not going to pay them anything without an itemized bill.
This is like someone sending you a bill in the mail for no reason! They kept telling me they were recording me "for quality purposes". I informed them that I, too, was recording them. They didn't like that, yet oddly kept talking to me even though they said "I could not do that". I asked under which law, and they said it was against their company policy. Well, it is against my policy to be treated this way. I recorded them because they consented to be recorded in recording me. At least I have some evidence now. I plan to pursue this legally and would love to start class action proceedings with anyone here. They need to be stopped. I also reported them to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Please google this and report your stories about Credit One. They allow you to upload recordings, images and text pertaining to your case, and then forward these to the company for an official "response". I'm awaiting the response.

When I told the 2nd that I was unhappy and felt it was poor customer service, she told me "we are not the ones who made an error".
