I received a preapproved credit app and thought it was Capital One. They charged a $75 fee, no problem I read that would happen. I'm angry, because I cannot make an online payment, or access my online account because they constantly suspend it. When I call to get it fixed, they hang up on me, you deal with India, lousy connection on the phone, full of static and very hard to hear what anyone is saying. I cannot wait to pay this off and not have to deal with them anymore. They started blowing up my phone the first month I had it because I was 8 days late on a payment. Being unable to access the online account, I had no way of even knowing when it was due at the time.

I have had emergency surgery recently and am waiting for my disability insurance to start paying me while I'm off. I contacted credit one to explain my situation and to see if they could help me out in some way as I am unable to make my monthly payment at this time as I do not have any income as of this time. They were unwilling to help me in any way other than telling me I needed to pay them a 25 dollar payment to keep me from being turned over to collections. I explained to them again about my financial situation and they told me to find someone and borrow the money to make the payment and then pay that person back. This company is totally not about helping their customers in a bad situation, only want their money or turn you into credit company and ruining your credit - very disappointed.

I received the credit one card today and when I called to activate it. This little foreigner tells me I have to mail them a copy of my driver's license and a utility bill. I told him nowhere on their website did I see that I would be required to send documents of any kind. He just repeated it over again. I told him this sounded like a scam. He simply stated that if they did not receive documents by February 7th the card would be canceled, I said good BYE!!! I pray to God above this does not mess my credit up.

I have had my COB card for close to a year now. When I first received my card, the annual fee had been added onto card, I had not gone the paperless option yet and had not received a statement for over a month and a half. By time I received the statement my payment was past due and a late fee was tacked on. I had contacted customer service explaining the situations and how I had not received a statement before first payment was due. Like so many other who have posted here, I got someone who could hardly speak English. I had asked to speak to a manager and was placed on hold for over 30 min. then hung up on. Frustrated, I just went ahead and paid late fee and set up paperless. Since then I have had no issues until here recently.

I am disabled due to upper back chronic pain and on several medications for pain. And in the last years I have developed nerve pain in my legs. The doctor last month started me on a medication that kinda messes with my memory to a point. I had made a extra payment on my card of $20 a few weeks back, meaning to make the min. payment of $25 on the 7th as usual. Last night (the 10th of the month) I woke up in a panic, I had forgotten, due to side effects of new medication, to make my min of $25 on the 7th. I got up in the middle of the night to get online to make payment praying that there wasn't a late fee. Well guess what? There was a $25 late fee added to my balance. I went ahead and made the $25 late fee but it is saying I still owe $5 min payment. When I got up this morning, decided to try and get a hold of someone to see if there is anyway to set up a auto pay, so that this doesn't happen again. I could not get a hold of anyone beyond the computer giving me several options then repeating. None of the options was to talk to a real person. I also had clicked the email notification option but did not receive an email reminding me that my payment would be due.

I have continually paid my credit card bills on time. The fees and the interest rates with Credit One are outrageous. I have have paid off the accounts (online) and do not get credit for money paid - they move it between accounts as they see fit. One account shows a $25.00 credit - the other shows I still owe $25.00 even though I paid each card individually, online, through Wells Fargo online banking. I have twice requested they close these accounts, they promised (by phone - only way to contact them) the accounts were closed. They are not closed. What do I do?

I just cancelled my credit card that I have had for less than 2 months because I believe their marketing to be deceptive, bordering on fraudulent. I responded to their "No Annual Fees" offer to later realize that they have an $8.00 per month fee instead after the 1st year (doubtless buried in the fine print). There is also a $75 initial fee charged (In lieu of the annual fee) for opening the account. The up to $1500 credit limit of course turned out to be $500 making the other fees in my mind usurious, particularly as a ratio to my $200 of actual purchases. I never received an initial statement so they charged me a $25 late fee which they did however waive. I asked them to at least pro-rate the initial fee for the less than 2 months that I had the card, I am not very hopeful though. I loath deceptive marketing and companies that employ it like Credit One Bank need to be called out for it.

I have had this card now for three months. Three weeks after having the card, I started to receive phone calls telling me my payment was due and I needed to express pay with a fee of $9.95 so my payment was not late. I explained I had initiated the payment through their website for $100. They said they did not get it and I need to pay right now, but according to the bill, I still had 10 days before payment was due. I reluctantly gave in and gave them my debit card information and made a payment of $100. It took 5 days for that payment to be processed and then three days later, lo and behold, another $100 came out of my account for the online payment I originally made. HUMMM??? So I just forgot about it and moved on.

The second month, I thought I would try the online payment again, this time for $75.00. Then the phone calls started again - 7-8 phone calls a day while I am at work, mind you. I have now had the card for just under two months, and the due date of the payment is at least 10 days away. They tell me again they did not get the payment and if I didn't pay right now for a fee of $9.95, my payment would be late! I refused. It was several long aggravating conversations to get this straightened out, but to no avail. They refused to send the payment through, which in turn took me over the credit limit and late FEES, FEES, FEES!

I believe this is a deliberate attempt to get whatever they can, so now two weeks later, I go again to initiate my payment for $168.00 and I cannot do it. The website says temporarily locked out of my account, so now I must pay $9.95 for express payment. I call and was told now that none of my payments were ever processed, they were all sent back. What??? My Chase bank account clearly shows that the money was taken out, so now I pay my $168.00 and want to close my account. I call back 2 1/2 weeks later and want the payoff amount of the card so that I can close the account. 4 different amounts are given to me in less than 1 minute's time and I have them process the payment and pay $9.95 to immediately process the final payment and keep getting the runaround and I ask several times to process it and close it. Well they ran the card as debit and guess what? They are holding the funds and refuse to process it.

Chase Bank was contacted and they told me the money is there for them to take but they are only holding the amount against the account and to immediately contact the state's attorney general. They believe they are doing this and refusing to close the account so that they can continue to collect interest and other fees. I hope this is resolved soon. They are breaking the fair lending laws by not processing payments, etc. BEWARE!!! This is the most fraudulent credit card company out there. This company needs a class action lawsuit filed against them for taking advantage of hardworking, good citizens. I will keep fighting on!

Credit One Bank offered me credit of $500, which I got to help with my credit score. I did not use the card at all, ever. I never once purchased anything with the card. When my second ANNUAL FEE was billed I cancelled my account and closed out the card. I got another bill with more fees and late charges for not paying my annual fee. This added up to $77.84 in total that I paid to stop the fees from increasing. My interactions with the company's representatives offered no consolation or offer for reducing any of the fees even though I called three separate times to settle the account. Never did anyone offer to work with me on the fees on top of fees on top of fees for a card that was never used. Do not do business with this so-called "bank." The first "c" of credit is "character." This company has no character.

I read these reviews before I signed up 4 months ago. So far I have had a good experience. There are some annoying things like the 4 day delay in making a payment without paying the fee. Other than that, the website has had a 100% up time and login worked for me every time. I just recently received a $200 automated increase in credit and was not charged a fee. Also I haven't had any problems with the card being rejected at any merchants. It's not a bad card at all. Trust me there are worse cards. I will probably end up keeping it for a long time or until my credit score gets around 650+.

So I called them saying that I never received the card and send me another card within 7 to 10 business days. Then I have finally received my new card and find out that there were charges from my first card, transfer to my new card and I never received it. So I called to see about the charges and they reported them fraudulent. I asked them if I can use my card but they said I have to make payment of $25 before I can use. Why should make a payment when someone else used my card? I cannot use the card now.

If there was a No-Star rating, it would be more fitting for a sham company like Credit One. I have been a cardholder for 6 months now and thought service would be similar to another credit company like Capital One (which I like), but when I saw some charges from an "Internet Service Provider" that I knew nothing about and NO CONTACT INFORMATION IS PROVIDED ON MY BILLING NOTICE TO KNOW HOW TO CONTACT WHOMEVER IS CHARGING ME. So, next I did what anyone would do and looked for the Cust. Serv. phone # to see if these were scam charges. But as it turns out, this is probably the only large company in the USA that has no telephone Customer Service and they direct customers TO WRITE ALL INQUIRIES TO THEIR VEGAS OFFICE!!! Laughable, so now I take all the time to get a letter ready for a simple $55 and $30 mischarge?

Well, this company must be a scamming operation that preys on low credit score clientele (which I am due to a few home foreclosures) while they fleece you for bits and pieces in the hopes the consumer will continue using this POS card. Well, it is time to pay the bill off and get rid of this C*R*A*P card. Use Capital One instead, they are professional at least.

Since my last review on Jan. 2014 Credit One has issued a card with a $500 limit. Yes, it's got some cons - little higher % and annual fee. But overall this has started a positive path to rebuilding my credit after a bankruptcy. If you make your payments on time, every negative thing I read about can be avoided. I since then have been approved for a capital one credit card and a Kohl's credit card. Thanks to Credit One giving me a chance!

Applied online Oct. 2014 was approved and told 7-10 days for card. Called many times spoke with 4-5 different people asking my social no, only way they could help me. Put on hold for supervisor each time 20-25 min and was then hung up on. Jan 2, 2015 went on their site, same info so I called and got same run around but last customer service told me I had a new application and needed to wait 2 days. I expressed how each time they run my social it affects my fico. She repeated "I cannot tell you info from last 2 applications." So I asked "why online says approved?" and she hung up on me.

I had a Credit One Bank credit card. The fees were crazy, but I paid them. When I closed the account I talked to a rep and paid what she told me I owed. I asked if this includes all fees and interest. She said yes so I paid the total off on the phone with them. I then received my next statement on a closed account stating that I overpaid and there was a credit. I called to ask about the letter stating the account was closed (which I still don't have) and the credit. They informed me that there is no longer a credit because they made an adjustment on my account and the credit has been removed. They said that there must be a delay in the processing from when I got the total till when I paid it. Two problems with that... first if I delayed I would owe more money as the interest would go up and not have a credit. Second I paid on the phone while talking to the rep.

I spoke with three different managers about this. All just said the same thing that they adjusted the credit and total due on the closed account. The last manager finally stopped talking. I had to ask three times if she was still on the phone. All she would say is "yes" and then not talk anymore. It concerns me that a company can give their clients a total dollar amount due, not be accurate with that dollar amount and over charge them, and then keep the overages. Not sure how that is even legal. I advise NO ONE to use this company. Customer service is horrible, and you can't get answers to questions.

What I had discovered was someone that I was not about to do business with after checking their practices with a hook & bill 1.99 for 14 days with them. About 11 days after I was to be billed 35.00 then 49.00 a month, it had been about 3 almost 4 weeks since the original contact that ended with my calling Credit one Bank!! That is when I was floored to hear that they expected me to stop the casting Company as I had just relayed to the person on the line with Credit One Bank. I had just tried to have stop my credit one account from being billed and then they would stop the billing. However instead of crediting my account, this company has harassed my wife and I to only collect the growing amount as we have told them call after Call, That we would be happy to pay the outstanding balance once we HAD THE ERRONEOUS amount be identified and removed. This is bs Big Time as my wife concurs with my assessment of this situation as she had looked this situation up and they {Credit One Bank} failed to stop the initial call from me to the so called them to be sure that the so called casting company didn't take more. These people are ridiculous and pushing. They will consistently call you for absolutely nothing when your bill is all paid up, they will call you and ask you to pay the full balance so that they may increase your credit limit. They lied about the fee and told me it was only going to be 60 dollars. When I received my bill I paid a hundred and seven dollars before I even used it. These people are terrible in the company every time you try to cancel your card trying to give you the runaround about the card. They do not help you with anything and sometimes when you try to call they do not even answer the phone.

I strongly urge no one to use them ever. This company should be shut down and honestly everyone should be refunded their money back even using them before. These people are shameful and they take advantage of anyone going through a tough situation by manipulating them and saying that they can give them a high rate of credit. When merely, they may give them $300.00 limit but they charge in the end is around 700.

I had a $500 limit and when I tried to cancel my card they said will just increase it, I did not agree. I hung up and call back in a bit to have my card the deactivated again. When I was trying to deactivate it, they asked me for my alternate phone number and I stated I did not have one and they said that I did so. When I began to say another number to contact me on, I realize they were just fishing for more information. Then they asked me about my email address, an alternate one than the one on file, stating I gave to gain this, was a lie. They also took the liberty of asking me where do I do my banking, not the bank itself but a particularly location. I honestly felt as if they were stealing my identification to sell it. They are rude and refuse to let you speak to a supervisor. I had a person call from there yesterday morning. She was very rude and yelling at me and hung up on me. When I tried to call back moments later it said the office was closed!!!!!! If the office was closed how was she calling???????? 10 attempts later miraculously the office had opened and I spoke to someone who sounded like they were from India.

She refused to answer any of my questions... refused to let me speak to a supervisor and hung up..... Numerous calls later I finally get through to someone after I use a different phone number to call from. They could not tell me why the money order had been returned but I was being charged a late fee because my payment was past due. I told them I would be paying my balance in full and I want this card cancelled and that I would be contacting my attorney about this matter. This is ridiculous how this bank does business and treats customers. She hung up on me. I am going to my attorney’s office this morning to bring this bank to his attention.

I've had this credit card for about 6 months with no issues. I pay on time, never been charged unaccounted for fees. Then I get a message that I qualify for $250 credit increase for a $19.99 fee, so I accepted the increase and was OK with the fee. A week later, my card was declined for a $16 transaction. I tried it again somewhere else just to make sure it wasn't a mistake and it was declined again for a $5 transaction. So I went online to try to figure out the issue since I KNEW I had available money on the account. The website said my account has been suspended.

I called customer service, they barely speak English so I'm assuming they are outsourced to India. Nobody can tell me ANYTHING about my account other than someone from accounting will call me in 4-6 hours. I called them back after 8 hours and they told me someone will call me back in 48 hours. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they would not transfer me to anyone. That Saturday a "Supervisor" called me to tell me someone will call me in 48 hours. I asked what was the purpose of his call if he couldn't assist me, he said, "Because you asked to speak to a supervisor." Monday I called customer service back to try to figure out what's going on. My payment is due on the 15th and I can't go online to pay it, so what am I supposed to do? The guy from customer service told me he could take my payment over the phone if I'd like. SO let me get this straight, my account is suspended for some unknown reason BUT you are willing to take my payment over the phone for a fee?! That makes no sense.

It has been a week since my 1st call to them. Nobody has called me to explain why my account has been suspended or what is going on. Customer Service barely speaks English and they act as if I'm annoying them! I wish I would have read the reviews on this company before accepting their pre-approved offer. I would have NEVER accepted the card. Now after reading the reviews, I'm afraid I will have a difficult time closing the account!

I told him my bank account information was on file and he didn't need to ask for it again (I smelled scam here). He then proceeded to tell me my account was closed and my online access was no longer available. This was surprising since the previous day I was able to log onto my account and view my account --- paid in full. Now my card is de-activated and they're treating me like a criminal. This credit card preys specifically on those with little to no credit, poor credit, or building credit. They offer a high APR (23.9% + monthly periodic rate 1.992%) in which you pay an annual fee of $100. However, if you enjoy being nickle and dimed, then this is certainly the card for you. If your card is lost, stolen, or you just need a replacement, you must pay for a replacement card ($25). If you want a credit line increase, you must pay a fee ($10). If you want to pay your bill by phone or on their website, you pay a fee ($10). If you are late by a couple of days, then you are subjected to multiple harassing phone calls, beginning in the early morning until late at night. And forget about customer service. Not happening. However, the most disturbing feature offered by this lovely bank from Las Vegas is that they begin charging the aforementioned ("reasonable") interest THE DAY a transaction is posted. Not 28 days, or 30 days... The very day. Which, I did not realize until I read the terms and conditions of an offer they sent for me to open a second line of credit.

I'm not sure if this has always been the case. The document outlining my APR agreement was updated in August of 2014, so this might be a new policy on their part. However, I opened a credit card with them years ago when I was first building credit. My credit is currently in the mid 700s and I've gotten significantly better offers. However, will not close this account because it is my oldest standing line of credit. So, I get to pay $100 a year to a company whose business model is exploiting people with little other credit options. My advice to anybody considering opening a card with this bank is DON'T. If your credit is poor or non-existent, then try credit unions. Credit One Bank is a predator.

Worst company to have to deal with! I had just barely opened an account with them when my card was stolen and dozens of charges were made. First thing is the horrible lack of fraud detection on this card. One place the card was used totaled 12 transactions in the matter of 15 minutes, all ranged from $1 and change (several at this amount) up to $30. A couple other stores had similar circumstance. Their response? "How are we supposed to know how you use your card?" Are you kidding me?! One of my other cards that were stolen was shut off after 3 transactions were made at the same store in a 2-hour period. Yet, this card didn't question several stores having numerous transactions in short periods of time? Ridiculous. I have had to call numerous times obviously to try to handle this, I'd say easily 12 times so far and every time I'm usually bounced to at least 2-3 people all asking the same questions. To add to this frustration, out of the dozens of people I have spoke with, all are foreigners, which is fine, however, what isn't okay is when you can barely understand any of them and they make you repeat half of what you say. For the most part, every phone call doesn't get me anywhere and I usually hang up lost and with my questions unanswered. This card is seriously not worth the hassle, no matter how bad you want a credit card.

Just like everyone below me, I decided to start building my credit. Got an offer in the mail for a pre-approved credit card with a credit limit of $300.00. I've been with credit one since August of 2013. It is now December of 2014 and I'm ready to close this account completely! I've been charged hidden monthly fees. I let it go after the first two months because they claimed there was a monthly fee just to have the account. Then I would make my payments ON TIME, and they'd return my payments. The last two months, they've returned my payments that I made on time, then charged me a late fee for both months, and then closed my account "temporarily". Who the hell closes an account temporarily.

So I spoke to a representative on the 25th of November, just five days after I made my payment. I told them I made a payment and they responded with "It hasn't been processed yet". I then call back on the 28th of November, and they tell me my account has been closed because my payments have been returned and I need a validation letter from my bank that I use to make the payments with in order to make the account active again. There was a late fee and a "returned payment fee" charged to my account.

Wait a minute, so I'm getting charged fees because your organization made a mistake? Anyone catching on to their game yet? I finally finalized it when I demanded to speak to a supervisor. At first I was told, "Ma'am the supervisor is going to tell you the same thing I did." "I don't give a ** , where is your service? When a customer demands to speak to a higher authority there should be no questions asked!" I spent 40 minutes on the phone with a supervisor to ultimately three way phone call with my banks (Wells fargo). When Wells Fargo confirmed my account that I have been using to make payments was active, the supervisor from Credit One played stupid claiming, "Oh I am so sorry ma'am, it was a system error on our end." So she waived my late fees, return payment fee, brought down my balance to what it originally was when I first attempted to make a payment. She kept apologizing for the inconvenience - I wouldn't buy it.

It shouldn't take a confirmation from another company in order to prove something that is legitimate. First telling me there is no way they can make any payments without a validation letter, yet a three-way phone call was good enough. I would never recommend this company to anyone. They will ruin your credit and drive you up a wall. Hope they get shut down eventually for scamming people!!!

I recently closed my account for several reasons. First nowhere do they tell you in writing of the yearly fee charged on your account. The first year is $75 and I don't know how much after that. Second, they charge you interest from the date of the purchase, unlike other companies where you can pay a few days before the due date and eliminate any interest at all. Third, the interest rate they charge is 20.65% PLUS the US prime rate. That is very high. Fourth, you can't choose the date you want to pay online. If that isn't enough to NOT have one of their cards, then you will be paying through the nose for it.

I asked to clarify what he was talking about because I never received any notice of this. Then I asked if I owed any money and he said it was a $0 balance that I had paid everything.... so how did a payment not go through if I had paid everything? So I just told him to keep it closed, I don't need the service and double checked that I had a $0 balance. He assured me that I owed nothing. I have a feeling that I am going to find out that there was their $7/month fee balance and that it will show up as unpaid on my credit report.... I think I may write a letter as well because that whole situation does not seem right. Be cautious. I held a $0 balance with them and paid the monthly fee every month on time and made a purchase every once in a while, but mostly had it while I built my credit back up. That being said, I am trying to save any other, naive consumer from getting this card or having to interact with this bank in any way. I've been paying my credit card bills on time and in full amounts every months. First of all, they don't even have a feature where you can schedule payments automatically in full every month. This is unheard of for me and makes me think they want you to miss a payment. So after having paid my credit card in full for the first time, and I am sure with right checking account (funny that it's processed successfully with every other credit account I own), it bounced back and I received a notice my account would be closed if it happened again.

This already left me puzzled- but I just went on and when time came around to pay the second time and I was trying to log on to pay the amount, my online account was closed. I called and the lady told me the account had been closed- no notice, nothing! She then said something about reopening it, so I could pay my bill. When I tried my account wasn't reopened- it was wiped entirely! I called again, only to hear that it wasn't possible to reopen the account, plus I missed a payment date!

This bank is the worst bank I've ever been a customer of and I'm glad the experience was brief! Instead of building my credit, I hope it did not produce too much damage I need to fix now. So, please save yourself from grief and don't be a naive as me to get this card. I've been with credit one bank for over three years now and I think it is my worst mistake ever. I was hoping to build up my credit by paying way more than the minimum amount due just for them to throw MORE additional FEES on top of that! You can NOT just pay the minimum balance for this card because they will constantly add fees to your account for them to eventually slam a late fee on you. I find that very weird and unusual. I get charged over $10/month for finance charges and I don't even use this card anymore! Your money won't ever get credited into your account until a week later. I've never heard of any other credit card companies that charges so much for fees that you don't even know about until it's already posted onto your account. This company does anything and everything to try to SCAM you for your money. Regardless, if you pay over the minimum balance or just the minimum balance, pay before or on time, you WILL ALWAYS RECEIVE ADDITIONAL ** FEES!!!!!!!! Please people, do not open an account with them!!!! I'm hoping for higher authorities to do an investigation on the company!!!!

Credit one uses all the usual methods to generate fees. Takes at least a week to post your payment, so you pay off your entire balance 2 weeks early to avoid late fees, but they wait until the last week of the month to post some transactions. Those come in after your payment so you really didn't pay the "total" monthly balance and they charge you the 30% interest on them. Also the website is often hard to access. (Not to mention the annoying credit card application page that always comes up when you sign in. Excuse me I already have a card.)

Several times I've made it through the payment process and hit submit only to get a "sorry, website is offline temporarily." Funny it only happens when I'm paying the full balance. I believe having this card has helped my credit score because I've just been approved for a major card with no annual fees, much lower interest rate, and cash back. The Credit One card is going in the trash and as soon as the next annual fee is due, I'd be canceling. I wonder how smooth that will go.

To be fair, the COB offers credit to people with less than perfect credit to give a chance to rebuild and improve their credit. This is why I applied and received the Credit One Bank card. I did not notice the Annual Fee charge when I applied, but paid the fee as I wasn't sure I might have missed the fine print. Now I see I'm being charged eight dollars and some odd cents every month and I no longer use the card as I now have several and have built my credit up. My issue was when I decided to cancel the card because I do not want to pay the monthly (Annual) fee. All their posted numbers except one, to add protection plan, is automated and there are no choices to cancel the card. Credit Protection could not help me. I finally found a number on my Experian Credit Report for Credit One Bank and was able to cancel after turning down their offer to waive the monthly fee for three months. The number for Credit One Bank to speak to an actual person is (702) 269-1000.

I signed up for this account, as I wanted to give my son (who is 18, and just building his credit) a card with a low limit. I was granted an account with a $300 limit, which I thought would be perfect. First, they charge a yearly fee, which is immediately billed to your account, upon opening. Fine - except that they didn't actually send me a card for over thirty days! So, by the time I even received my card in the mail, the account was past-due, and had late fees billed on a $99 balance.

Second, they charge fees for everything. Want to pay your balance today? $9 "Express Payment" fee (never mind the fact that your payment leaves your bank account immediately, either way - if you want it to actually credit today, there is an extra fee). There was also a $20 fee to add a second user (something unheard of with other banks and credit cards). I could go on and on. They also take more than 4 days to credit your payment - so if you pay on your actual due date, be warned - they may still count you as late.

Last - their "Paperless Billing" option means they don't send you a bill. EVER. Unlike other companies, whose paperless option means that you receive an emailed statement, Credit One's paperless option means you will not get a statement AT ALL. This is not stated anywhere on the site. I had to call customer service fives times, complaining about not receiving statements, before someone finally confirmed that "paperless" means they don't send you a statement. You are just expected to know when your payment is due, and visit the site to take care of it. They have recently added an option to their "Notifications" menu which allows you to have them email or text you when a statement is AVAILABLE, however you still need to go to the site and review it manually. (Which is ridiculous - they could just as easily send you the actual statement, so this is clearly engineered so that people miss it, and get charged extra late fees and interest.)

Also, if you would like to speak with a person in the US, forget it. That will never happen. Customer service is barely intelligible, and often borderline hostile. This entire business seems developed around screwing people who are trying to build their credit, by purposefully making it difficult to review and pay bills, so they can slap you with additional interest and fees. I would definitely avoid dealing with Credit One Bank entirely, if I had it to do over.

My now husband received an offer from CreditOne shortly after filing bankruptcy, and figured he would apply "just to see" and was approved for I believe a $300 limit, with a 29.9% interest rate, and I don't recall the annual fee, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't $75.00. I'm reading the reviews on this board and wondering if it's even the same company that we dealt with! We never had any of the issues mentioned with customer service or being declined, and when he called to cancel (Capital One had sent him an offer with a much interest rate, right at the same time we'd paid CreditOne off), he explained this as his reason, and they offered to decrease the rate. He simply explained that he didn't want to risk getting in over his head with credit cards, but would keep them in mind for down the road.

Fast forward about six months, and I'm now ready to get in the credit game, and figure I'd give them a shot since our last experience hadn't been bad. I got pre-approved, then applied and received the same balance that my husband did initially, with only a $35.00 annual fee, and 17.9% interest rate. While this is "high" this isn't unreasonable in comparison to some other cards I've seen. The only issue I'm seeing so far is the amount of time it takes for funds to become available after making a payment. As of now, it's been four days and my "Available balance" doesn't reflect the payment having been made - I did the free option. This is definitely a "fee" based card, but if handled properly it can help build you in the right direction. If I ever have any issues like others are describing, I will definitely come back and update.

Let me start off by saying I did not look up reviews on this credit card before activating it. I see that that was a HUGE mistake. I also should say that how this happened could possibly be part my own fault since I did not read everything in the disclosure as well as I should have. With that being said though, I just got this card about a month and a half ago. My bill was due 2 days ago, on the 10th. I only used the card twice, aside from being charged the ridiculous annual fee of $75, which I was not aware of, from lack of reading thoroughly I suppose. My credit limit is low, only $300, which I thought was a good start since this was my first credit card, aside from store cards.

Now that I have said all of that information, I will get into my problem. I always like to make payments early, at least by one week if not two or three weeks, ahead of time. Since this was my first bill, and I do everything paperless, I had to go through the process of adding my checking account information into the website's Pay Bill. Maybe I typed it in wrong by accident but I did get an email saying the payment posted. I did all of this on the 3rd of this month, and got the email saying my payment posted on the 5th. Still 5 days before it is due, mind you. It wasn't coming out of my actual bank's checking account but I figured it would be fine since I got the email saying it posted. WRONG! I guess maybe I should have checked my Credit One Bank account, because my payment did not go through and that was on the 8th.

I was not made aware of that through email though, so I had NO IDEA that that had happened. Of course they sent an email today, the 12th, telling me my payment was past due and I now have a late fee. How is it that a company can send an email telling you the payment posted, but can not send an email telling you that it messed up somehow and did not go through? But then can send an email telling you your payment is past due. I am beyond pissed! I have already decided to not charge anything more on this card and pay it off as soon as I can and cancel it! I tried to call the number on my card today, even though it is Sunday, you never know. And of course, there is no option to talk to an actual person.

By the sounds of it, it won't get me far anyhow. Like I said, this is my first credit card aside from store cards and I can already tell you that this is a bad card to go through. I feel like they are a scamming company with horrible customer service. Now that I have decided to let it go, not even try to resolve the late fee issue, and go ahead and pay it off and cancel, I am already nervous for when I cancel this card. What a joke of a credit card company!

They called my place of employment and tried to start wage garnishment for a balance of $300 when it was 2 days late. I called and had to pay a late fee of $30, plus the payment. Yesterday.. I paid a $1000 on my balance so I can rent a truck tomorrow to move out of state. I went to pay for the truck and there is a five day hold on my payment?!? The money is out of my checking account... where is my credit?!? I called to inquire about this and the lovely Indian woman told me that if I had made an express payment for $9 more it would have been available immediately. I told her she took my money immediately and it would only be fair if her company could give me the credit I just paid off. Nothing she could do.

I should have paid the extra fee. I explained that I needed to rent a truck to be in the new state to start work.. said it wasn't her issue. Told her capital one posted the same day the payment cleared.. she told me to use capital one then. I asked to speak to her supervisor, she said she was the only supervisor I needed. Really... so.. I called her a female copulating canine and this card had better work on Tuesday because I have to start my new job on Wednesday... after I pack my house into a truck, towing my car 670 miles. Thank you for to ruining my week and the possibility of jacking up my ability to make future payments to her ** company. She said.. and I quote. ** you very much for calling... and that was the end of the conversation.

I called back.. entered in all pertinent information I was on hold for three minutes and then disconnected. Four times. I called back as a new customer and was connected only to be hung up on when they realized who I was. I have NEVER had an issue like this with anybody in my life. I am pretty sure this company is a spawn of Satan, just my opinion. I was planning on paying them off and cancelling when my 401k comes in, but reading above, I'm afraid to send them anything ever again. I have a feeling that this company will be a cancer that I will never be able to get rid of. Maybe if I shred the card and mail it to them, that will translate to their native tongue what they can do with it. No offense to anyone.. just this one company and the lovely "lady" I talked to on the phone.

After reading the reviews I can't really add much more than my story as most sound similar. My Husband and I both have/had an account with COB. I recently closed mine because they refused to change my last name (we have been married for almost 2 yrs now), too high of an interest rate for my credit (I got it over 3 years ago to rebuild my credit - I have never missed a payment and my credit has gone up over 700 so I have better cards now), and because even though I paid the card off they still charge you the "monthly" "annual fee" of $8 and change. They gave me hell trying to close it but finally did it.

On to my husband’s card... He drives truck for a living and is not able to call during the day due to what he hauls and he is not home during the week. He has added me multiple times to the account. I pay the bills out of MY account each month online. I recently switched accounts and updated in info on the website and made a payment. I received a letter telling me they didn't get the payment because the account was closed (the old account). I called to explain what had happened and rectify the situation... First I call and get lost and stolen cards. I tell them that I need to be transferred to a different department because that is not why I was calling, and he insisted that he could help me so I went through the whole story, and in return he tells me that he is lost and stolen cards and cannot help me.

I ask to be transferred again and he says that the department wasn't open. It was 8:30am EST and the website says collections is open 5am PST which would be 8am EST. But ok... I call back at 9AM EST. Get someone in C/S. I explain the situation again where I am told that I am not authorized on the account and he cannot help me which is crazy... so I ask to speak to a supervisor and he puts me on hold for at least 10 mins then disconnects the call. I call back and immediately ask to speak to a supervisor because I don't want to go through the whole story again when the guy won’t transfer me until he gets the account info and such and proceeds to tell me the same thing... I again ask for a super like I asked in the beginning and he transfers me. I go through the whole thing with that person... He tells me the same thing again and again.

I ask him what I CAN do then because this all sounds crazy because I KNOW that he has authorized me numerous times. He tells me that my husband has to give me permission each time I call (he has to be right next to me to do this he says), or he has to sent in a Power of Attorney!! He tells me that is bank policy. It’s crazy because no other bank makes you go through all of that just to add an authorized person when that person is your husband who has added you before... Needless to say I will be paying off the balance and then having my husband close the acct.

I have been with credit one bank for a number of years and the customer service is horrible. One, everyone speaks very little English, you must ask to repeat and on and on. You can stay on the phone for over 1/2 an hour to say the least. As a senior citizen living on a fixed income, my bill has come to $1100... every time I sent a payment before due date, I am charged a late fee but how can that be? for example: payment not due until 10/1 but payment made and logged in 9/21? I am constantly charged late fees... I will never be able to pay this off but I am going to send only the regular payment due... then I will default the late fees and they will have to eat it as this is an illegal rip off. DO NOT USE CREDIT ONE BANK CREDIT CARD.

I only got my card a few days ago. I went online right away and registered for the online account. I was aware of the $75 yearly charge. It did state that on the application. I also took the standard card because it also did say the charge was $6.95 for a custom card. It did ask me if I wanted a second card? I declined. So setting up my online account there was as I thought, $225.00 available on my card. HUH! I tried to use it at Walmart. Sale was $55.05. It was declined twice.

I used my Capital One card I got the same day instead. It had a full $300 limit on it and gave me no declines when I used it. So I went across the street to the tobacco store. Sale was only $16 something - again it was declined. My minimum due is only $25 and it is not due until 10/25 so I can't figure why it is declining my card. But when I go into the site the first thing that pops up is (make a payment now). I can only assume they want a payment before they will permit me to use it, even though it has already been activated. So am I correct in thinking they want a payment before I can use it?

Signed up for the card, which I did read completely over the entire terms that were sent. I knew about the $75 fee being upfront and all that; however, I originally thought they were Capital One. I mean, look at their logo. Credit One/Capital One... Same exact logo design. How could I not be confused? Anyway, I went ahead and signed up anyways, figured, why not? Also noticed the terms on the mailing (and within the cardholder agreement) stated one would be waived the annual fees if they did not use the card AND did not make a payment. Not 'OR' but 'AND'. Very very very misleading.

    Anyways, I sent them a letter, and the cards, through UPS, to cancel the account and reimburse all fees as per the terms. Eleven days later, still not closed. I call them up and they argue with me and all of a sudden, the address THEY gave me is incorrect and they never got it (even though I have a signature through UPS). Charged me a $25 late fee even though I had sent it with plenty of time and requested a settlement amount. On top of all of this, I included some more information in the letter, for example, all of the Truth in Lending laws they are breaking. I will include them below;

All of the following pertain to the Truth In Lending Act (1968). Credit and Charge Card Application and Solicitation Disclosures Section §1026.60:

    1. §1026.60(f)(5): Grace Period: After reading over this section of the law, and re-reading the terms of service included with the pre-approval offer, I find no mention of any, nor a lack of, grace period. As per the TLA, all solicitations MUST include information pertaining to a grace period, regardless if there is one or not.

    2. §1026.60(f)(14): Available Credit: As per the TLA, the initial credit limit MUST include ALL initial fees. The initial credit limit does not include the Authorized User Annual Fee.

    • Periodic Statement Disclosures – Section §1026.7;

    1. §1026.7(b)(10): Closing date of billing cycle; new balance: After viewing the current statement online, I have noticed that the statement closing date is not listed anywhere, which, according to TLA §1026.7(b)(13)(a), is another requirement. Also, my current statement balance is reflected as $154.43. This amount is severely incorrect. If one was to look at the payment due date, 9/26, and take the days of the billing cycle, 30, one would reach 8/27. Based on this date, the only transactions to post on, or before, that date is the $19 authorized user annual fee and the $6.95 card design fee. This comes to a total of $25.95, not $154.43. You cannot include transactions BEFORE they post.

    2. §1026.7(b)(6)(b): Charges Imposed: According to this part of the TLA, certain charges are supposed to be included under the ‘Fees’ heading. One of these charges includes the credit limit increase fess that you charge, which, by the way, was also never listed on the pre-approved mailing (solicitation).

As you can see, not only do they employ highly deceptive practices (i.e. the 'miswording'), but they also blatantly disregard federal law. On top of all of this, after speaking with a supervisor and getting them to close the account, they have the nerve to say, "By the way, even though your account is now closed, as long as you owe a balance, we will continue to charge you the annual fee." Seriously? The annual fee is to cover the card and the features they give you... How can they still charge me when all of that is gone?

Unfortunately, due to circumstances, I have been a customer of Credit One Bank for just about a year now. Whenever I've had an issue I would, of course, call to attempt to get it resolved. What a crock! The only call centers available are either in India or the Philippines. Aside from being so very difficult to understand, they are not at all helpful. Whatever the issue may be, all they do is repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat again whatever it is they use to disparage your complaint.

When requested to transfer me to someone in the United States, they can never perform such a complicated task. They transfer you to a low-level manager who repeats the same drivel the first agent spewed, and then when one asks to speak with their supervisor it's another ten minutes or so before they get someone above them on the phone, who in turn spits out the exact same scripted garbage they've been tossing at you for about an hour. And, again, nobody available in the United States. But they will request a phone call to you within 24-48 business hours, which, on a Saturday, can be up to 4 days before - if you're lucky - you hear from anyone.

Now, I understand that there is an annual fee required for a credit card such as this, but they charged me at the beginning of October for a November fee. My contention is that the reason for this is so they can accrue additional interest on the account, which to me is tantamount to stealing from the consumer, as is the way they start charging interest the day of a transaction. This is an unacceptable practice that must be stopped.

My account with this company has never been late, and I attempt to pay off the balance every month possible, which has been most months. You would think that a good customer would not be treated like this. Even a bad customer should never be treated like an ignorant fool, just so they can get more money into their greedy pockets.

Everything they do, including outsourcing their call centers to other nations where they don't need to pay a living wage is antithetic to what any reasonable person would consider acceptable customer service. As soon as I am able, I will be canceling this account and moving towards a more friendly and responsible bank for my credit card needs. My recommendation is to stay far far away from Credit One if at all possible.

When you want to pay back your bill COB makes it difficult for the disabled and anyone else. They do not offer a way to pay with your account by phone or automation. They tell you to pay online not everyone has a computer or can they wait 7 day for it to be mailed and be charged late fee. Many people don't have a computer to pay without being charged. They don't want you to pay the money back because they get more money on late fees and express payment fee. If you can't find or lose your card even stole 25.00 replacement card. They need to be sued and I would stand 1st in line if any lawyer would like to take the case and others like it. They have no help for the blind or seeing impaired. So besides the high interests to straighten out your credit you get charged in my case 7.00 for interests 3.00 credit card fee for insurance, 10.00 to make express payment and another 25.00 to send me out a card because mine is lost. They make it difficult to pay your bill back and charge late fee to boot if not paid on time without lenience they really have high tariffs. Group lawsuit or so but they really do consumers bad, take advantage, they want to clean up their credit and take the customer literally to the bank.

I am very disappointed with credit one bank. I have had this account for a few years and have paid on time. Having this card has helped me to rebuild my credit, but at a cost. They charge you for a credit line increase, their interest rate is very high as well as even if you want to change the design on your card, they will charge you. My banking institution made a mistake with my payment this month and paid twice, even though I had authorized only one payment. When I informed them of this they rectified the problem and refunded the duplicate payment, but a few days later I found out the refund was from the payment I had made to credit one bank. Therefore, it looks like I had not made my monthly payment, when in fact I had.

I called credit one only to be told that my account had been closed and that a letter had been sent out informing me of this. They did not give me a chance to explain that it was an error on my banking institution's part (I have a letter from the bank stating it was their mistake). Most companies that I am aware of, they will give you a certain amount of time to rectify the problem - not Credit one Bank!! Their customer service is disgusting (to say the least). I guess their call center is based overseas because you never get anyone locally on the phone. They do not seem to have a corporate office either because all the mailing addresses they use are p.o. boxes. It also seems that they must read from a script because you never ever get anyone to go the extra mile to see what they can do to help, they just repeat what you have told them and say that there is nothing that they can do.

After calling about 4 times I got to speak to a supervisor who wasn't too much help, just told me to submit the letter I received from my bank to them and they will investigate (I do not have too much hope that this will be resolved to my satisfaction). Their customer service really needs to be overhauled. It is obvious they do not care about their customers and I really would not recommend them to anyone trying to get a credit card to rebuild their credit. A company like Capital One would be a much better option.

I received an offer in the mail, applied for the card and was approved for $1000.00 CL with a $45.00 annual fee. It took me two weeks to get the card. Once I received it I paid the annual fees and my account went back to $1000.00 CL within five days. However, I will only use this card for small purchases and pay in full ASAP. I have to say this has been an ok card so far, at least I was given $1000.00 CL from the very start. My CS wasn't that bad. I started out with a 669 and a month later I am at 700 with Transunion. My credit wasn't bad to start with - just had a lot of inquiries, but after two years the inquiries drops off. Hope this help. Excited about applying for another card in the months to come. FYI: With this card you have to pay your bill at least ten days in advance for it to be on time and not late.

To start, we applied for this card and were approved. We never received an actual working credit card, but I know that closing open accounts has a negative effect on your credit, so my husband and I paid the annual fee via check, and left the account open. A year later we receive a bill for $60. I call and they immediately demand $104. I told them that seemed completely ridiculous for an account that we never even used or had an actual card for. On August 4 while on the phone with them it was resolved that I only owed them $30. I agreed to pay this amount under the stipulation that this account would also be completely closed. I confirmed this with them 3 times, that this $30 payment would completely resolve any obligation to them, and they would close the account. Then received another bill from them.

I was pretty furious that they insisted I owed another $60 and the account was still open, after they assured me that it was closed. Now they say we owe $147 (again on an account WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A CARD FOR!!!!). There is never a manager on site that is capable of reviewing the account with us. This company is a JOKE, and frankly abusive to consumers. I am reporting them to every governing agency possible because this is fraud and abuse as far as I'm concerned.

I was trying to rebuild credit after nasty divorce. They deceptively use a logo much like Capital One. I WAS happy with the company, but as time went by they began to decline charges. They would not let me use it at Wal-Mart, and Home Depot, which is where I mainly shop. I kept mostly a zero balance and was never late with a payment. Customer support told me that both businesses has "suspicious activities" and would not allow me to use the card, but I was free try another store. When I asked what stores I was permitted to use the card they said they couldn't tell me that. I attempted to close my account 3 times before it worked. When I called the 4th time, they took my final payment with my debit card and then promptly hung up before I could get any kind of confirmation. I believe I should be able to use MY money where I choose, especially at big name merchants. I strongly recommend you avoid this card company.

I have had 3 different credit cards issued by Credit One Bank. All of them have had someone from another state change my address to theirs and taken my name and my ss#. I did file a theft report with local police and it happened again. Someone requested a second card and again changed my address so I did not receive any bills. Then they paid on card and because I filed police report, the money that they paid with was returned to them leaving me with account that was maxed and then when the third card came 2 months later, it was paid off. Then the check they used to pay was returned and the bank closed account so I called to see why and was asked my phone number and address which again was changed to another state and I had to almost beg the person from Credit One to put my card as stolen even though bank closed it and I asked why and was told I would receive letter. And I asked, "How will I receive when you do not have my correct address and have not been notified about any of this the problem?" If they use your ss# to ask for your info not card # so whoever this is has my ss# as well and keeps doing this.

I have alerted Equifax and now have an alert on all my accounts but when I call, how do they know it is me or other person. They do not ask my mom's maiden name or any other question to identify who is really calling so the other person could call and say I was the one who used their card. This is getting my dander up and am glad bank closed card and will not pay or use them again.

I had sent a payment (money order) in the mail on a Monday and the money order was dated way before my due date and the company called me the morning before due date (Friday) asking me if I could make a payment over the phone with a small charge that would apply. I told them no! The money order had to be in the mail office - make someone go down and check. I spoke to 6 different people for 2 days trying to get someone to check on my payment and they all kept saying my payment has not arrived and the system will apply a late fee & that if I made a payment then that day they would not charge me a fee to do it over the phone. I told them all I wasn't making a double payment. I have paid this account off 4 times in less than a 1 year & I'm in good standing with their company.

After keeping a 2nd supervisor on the line for 51 mins he decided to make a note on my account when my payment was processed, no late fee to be add. Why did it have to take so long??? This company is not the best to deal with its good paying customers. Plus it's hard to understand them. After following up the 3rd day on my account, I seen where my payment had been applied that Sunday. So they knew it was there that Saturday (which was my due date) cause we all know the mail don't run on Sunday yet!

I got this card from credit Karma like many others who have reviewed. The difference is I read the fine print and I knew what I was getting before I activated the card. You have about 21 days after you receive the card to decide whether or not to activate the card. You will receive a statement BUT if you have not activated the card, you DO NOT OWE the $ and you disregard the statement they will close your account as I almost did.

I already had 2 Capital One cards a secured card and a quicksilver that I have had for about 18 mos. rebuilding my credit so I was reluctant to use or activate a fee-based card when I have been building my credit successfully with the Capital One cards that do NOT charge fees. Like I said I almost chose not to activate BUT I decided to go ahead and activate and use the card. Yes it costs 75$ per year to keep the card open which they bill you for immediately.

After the first year that fee is billed in small monthly installments. Now with that being said I have always been sure to make my payment on time so I have not encountered any problems. Since this card is fee-based, you can very well expect if you do not pay on time you will be charged a late fee! So just pay on time like anyone sincerely trying to build credit would do and you will get exactly what you should expect from this company if you do that and read the fine print in regard to fees.

Is it the best card out there? NO but there are no hidden fees or deceptiveness. It is all there, you just have to read the agreement. When you have less than perfect credit the nature of the beast to rebuild is to pay higher fees for a couple years or LONGER IF YOU PAY LATE! My Suggestion is if you want the BEST card out there for rebuilding credit go with the Capital one secured card. This card does require you to send money upfront in my case 98.00$, sometimes it is up to 200$ and you will not get this $ back as long as you keep your card open. So look at it as an investment in to your credit and how bad you want to rebuild it?

Capital ONE does fully refund when you close your card out BUT closing your card doesn't help build your credit and if you wanna raise your limit on this card, you must deposit additional $. Now they will give you credit raises periodically for example in less than 2 years they have given me an additional 2 raises totaling 750.00. They also approved me for an unsecured card with a 300$ limit and after I paid on time for 6 months, they gave me a 200$ raise. So I am thinking of closing the secured card after another a year and getting my $ refunded but not until the new card has been open at least 2 years because closing your oldest card will drop your credit score as well.

So like I said rebuilding costs $. You have to decide how much your credit means to you and whether to make the investment and who to make it with? A company that you can pay a minimal amount each month such as Credit One Bank? Or Capital One you may have to send 200.00 upfront but will raise your score a LOT and pretty fast! You will see good results within 6 months and even better results in 1 year! You should raise your score with either card "if you pay on time!

I had to explain several times that I would make a payment on the 15th of the month when I got paid again. Today, they called again, wanting a payment. I opened this Credit Card because I use a vendor out of Canada for business. My personal debit card does not allow out of the country transactions. For the first year all was fine. Starting in June 2014 Credit One started to block the vendor. The vendor doesn't have this problem with any other VISA cards. I contacted Credit One and they used the excuse that it was to protect me from unauthorized use. I explained that I had been doing business with this company since 2011 and they should flag my account to always allow this vendor to apply charges to my card. After being on hold forever and speaking with a supervisor I was told they were sorry for the inconvenience and that there would not be a problem again. Well guess what? In July I again had to call and go through the drill again. Again being told by a supervisor that the account had been flagged and there would not be a problem again. Lied to again!!!!!

On Aug. 21, 2014 it happened again. Another call, another "I'm so sorry," the charge will go through in 24 hours. NOT!!!! I called again today (8/25/14) furious, explained that they were holding up an order that I needed to fill - an order for a customer and that I could understand if I was behind on a payment or something of that nature but my bill was always paid before due and most of the time paid I full each month. The supervisor again said sorry for the inconvenience. That the problem was that I made the request to allow the charge on the weekend and that would have to re-request to allow the charge. I told her that the request was made on Thursday not on the weekend and that I was told that the charge would be allowed within 24 hours and it had not.

After another long wait she came back on the line and told me that the charge would be allowed to go through immediately. But that’s because I had requested to allow this charge to be allowed twice in the past that as of Sept. 1, 2014 the vendor would no longer be allowed on my cc. I would have to make use of another CC. I told her that would not be a problem!!! I thanked her, hung up, waited about 20 minutes. Called my vendor and told them they could place the charge. THE CHARGE WAS BLOCKED!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. My cc is always paid on time and for more than the monthly amount or paid in full. The customer service is a joke and most of the time you cannot understand what they are saying as their English is joke. I think VISA should pull their line or credit cards from this bank all together. I will pay them off and cancel the card today!!!!

In addition to that, my husband was recently informed that Credit One has NOT MADE A SINGLE UPDATE ON MY CREDIT SINCE FEBRUARY 2014. The supervisor, Nancy, told me that she doesn't have an answer for me because another department handles credit information. I then asked to be transferred to that department and was told that department doesn't take customer calls - HMM, WONDER WHY. I was told a request has been submitted to this mysterious credit department and I would receive a call within 48 hours to discuss why not a single report has been made. THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!! I have almost ten credit cards, and three different bank accounts and I have never had such terrible customer service in my life. First, none of the representatives can clearly speak English. I have been yelled at, and even hung up on by a supervisor! I had scheduled a payment arrangement for a late payment. Mind you it was my first late payment since I had the card and it had been late because I had to close my bank accounts due to identity theft. After letting them know this, it took about 6 different phone calls until I was finally able to get a supervisor to waive the late fee and it was only because the previous supervisor had told me "that's not my problem and we cant help you," *click* and he hung up on me. After calling and hanging up on every representative that would not listen to me and was rude I finally got someone to listen to what I was saying instead of over talking me constantly and just demanding money.

Anyways the payment arrangement was scheduled for two days later as it was a weekend and I was not able to get into a bank to open a new account to pay from. They said in order to make the arrangement they had to have a checking account number and asked if they could use the one on file. I informed them that that account was closed and I would be opening a new one on Monday (two days from the time of the call). They said that was fine, to call Monday with the new information and to make the payment. I called today (Monday) and was told we're sorry we already processed the payment and I informed them that they wouldn't be receiving any payment that that account was no longer active as I stated to them earlier.

They said I could make the payment now but that I would be charged 9.95 for making the payment the day of (never heard of that in my life). Why make a due date if you’re going to be charged for paying it on the due date??!!! It would only be free if paid earlier...ya ok? After I argued that I wasn't going to make the payment then they agreed to not charge the $10 fee. I was then told however would be charged $25 for the payment they processed that was going to be returned. SO of course I then argued that was ridiculous because they were told not to use that account that it was no longer open and they did anyway...now I have to call back in two days after they get the payment returned and ask them to waive the $25 charge.

I have a feeling this will not go well.. I will never use this card again. I want it paid off and hopefully never have to contact them again. I was tempted to not even pay it today because everyone is so rude and not helpful. NEVER AGAIN.

Had their card for maybe 2 weeks and only charged $25 on it in total. Got a call one morning saying that I hadn't made a payment yet and that I was late by 3 days. Told the 4 different supervisors that I haven't even received a statement yet. All I got from them was that I had to have and that I was wrong. Went down to the bank after feeling pressured and put $50 in my acct and called them back and made a $45 payment over the phone and was told that by doing it this way would incur the $9 fee. I flat out told them that I wasn't going to pay that and they lowered it to $4.95. Then checked this bank online and was shocked to read all of us complaining about the way they treat people and the way they do business. Then the next day I got my first statement and was shocked to see a prior balance!! I had the card 2 weeks! Fed up, went back to bank put in balance of statement and called to close out the acct. They wouldn't let me and actually got hung up on.

Called the next day to close out again and was told me ok. Was then told that they would send me a new card and new acct # and told them no, that I didn't want new card, new acct over and over. Guess what? Got new card in the mail... People do everything you can to rid yourselves of them. Call the credit monitoring businesses, report them to your states attorney generals office and monitor yourself.... CYA. This bank won't do it for you. Get a confirmation letter from Credit One stating that your acct has been closed with zero balance. If you don't get it from them, call and call again till you do. Sorry this has been so long but I'm trying to help everyone that happens to deal with them. They are very rude and will send you from person to person on the phone without accomplishing anything. And yes, I have excellent credit AND pay all my bills on time. Good luck.

I only knew this 2 days after my due date and I checked my bank account and I saw the payment had not been extracted from my account. It's Saturday night and I tried calling them but of course no live customer service but the automated service states payment posted on the 12th then payment returned on 15th (my due date is the 15th) and yes, I have money in bank to cover payment.. No reason why payment was returned! No courtesy email or call - just returns payment on my due date and charges me late fee.

I have had a Credit One account for several years. Foolish me! I have paid it off several times only to use it again. They are the ONLY company that charges a fee at least of the 10 creditors that I deal with to pay your payment over the phone. (Free if you pay online.) I have always kept my account in good standing. Maybe the balance was high, however I paid it on time. I have been very ill and unable to make this payment and I tried to call them and let them know. I was on hold 25 minutes. Nurses running in and out of the room. Once I got home, I could not log into my account. I was 10 days late at this time and need to pay $60.00. So I called the company at the number on the website (24 hours a day), they were closed. The next morning a very RUDE man with an India thick accent told me my account balance was $$$ and I BETTER pay right NOW. I said "Excuse me, I do not know who you are, but you do not disrespect me. There is a reason my usual promptness has not been met this month and you will NOT talk to me like that."

He told me then I BETTER pay 60.00. I told him he better have someone with some customer service call me because he wasn't getting credit for collecting ANYTHING from me. So again I went to the computer to try to make the payment. My user name and password would not work. I went through the process and received a new one. The form said it was accepted and complete return to the login to make a payment. I did. Password and username did not work. I closed the window, went to my e-mail to see if there were any kind of e-mail stating a problem. No, there was not. So I called the automated number. Now this time (within minutes of the man calling) it stated I owe $87.00 payment, not $60.00 as HE stated and what my statement stated and the closing date has not occurred. I cannot talk to anyone to pay. I cannot access the website. The man added some sort of charge to my account. I do not want to cancel the account because it is an old account with a good history.

I AM calling the BBB and filing a lawsuit first thing on Monday if I cannot find someone willing to reverse this charge made in retaliation. Why are they having people who obviously cannot speak English, obviously have no respect for whom they are talking to, and it certainly is NOT customer service. I am to the point of saying to heck with it. Closing the account out and paying them the bare minimum till frogs grow hair!

I was approved for a $300 limit. When I received the card, all $300 was available so I used it. The next day, a $75 charge appeared. Granted that did upset me. But that wasn't my problem. When I made a regular FREE payment from my checking account, days passed & the payment was never debited. A week later, I logged on to the card website to see that the payment was reversed. I couldn't believe it. I called customer service (out of the country) to find out what happened. When I went over my bank account information, they claimed that I accidentally added an extra zero on the end of my checking account. Twice.

COME ON NOW! I knew at that moment that Credit One was a scam. I knew it because you're only given two electronic payment options. Free with your checking account or $9.95 fee to pay with your debit card. There's no way in this life I would enter my checking account number incorrectly twice in a row. They did this to frustrate and trap a customer into paying that $9.95 payment service fee. I reentered my checking account info again 3 days ago and the money still hasn't been debited. If they do the same thing, I'm filing a complaint with the consumer financial protection bureau. Don't do business with this company. It isn't worth it.

    Good:

I was approved for $400 even though I am in the middle of a Chapter 13 bankruptcy (meaning I am paying it off and haven't gotten it discharged yet). My credit score is 633. I was never asked for income information or any other documentation. My card worked the first time I tried to use it at a major grocery store chain gas station. When I called CO, the lady I spoke to spoke English well.

    Bad:

I never asked for a card for my wife, but I did want one. When my card arrived, they sent one for her, too! I accepted an online offer. It never mentioned her or asked me if I wanted an authorized user. I wanted one so I kept expecting it. I was never prompted. How did they even know my wife's name?! I called Credit One. The lady I spoke to said an automated machine (an automated phone call) requested it. Baloney! Today was the first day I have ever called Credit One. I asked the lady if she had my wife's SSN. She said no. Since when in this day and age does a bank issue a credit card without having the SSN of the cardholder on record, even if it is just an authorized user? I gave the lady my wife's SSN since I do want this reported to the credit bureaus. Let's see how this pans out. She said they report to the three credit bureaus every 30 days.

Available credit data: Which one is right? My account was opened and initial fees of $45 annual fee and $19 authorized user fee were posted. I bought gas for $49. I made a payment to CO of $113. I signed up for daily emails for my account balance and available credit. They reflect the numbers I expect of available credit $400 and balance of $0. The website snapshot and the automated phone system don't. They show available $287. Plus, the phone system says my payment won't be available for another 4 business days even though my payment did post to the account on Aug 8th. This appears to be because CO has not yet charged my bank account. Let's see how this pans out.

So as of 8/8/14, I activated my Credit One Bank card with a credit limit of $300. Not much but it’s been a long time since anyone has approved me for a credit card because my score is low. So I thought okay great, I got a foot in the door to start trying to rebuild my credit. I didn't know they charge a fee of $6.95 to pick a certain design for your card. Nowhere on their website did I remember reading that but okay, not big deal. When the first bill comes out I'll pay on time and start successful and on the right path with this card $.

Now I wake up this morning 8/9/14 to check my account in which I often do because I don't trust companies & I have a new balance of $81.95 =-0??? What happened. I only spent $10 plus the $6.95 I owe for the design. How did I get from $6.95 to $81.95 in under 24 hours of using the card for the first time ever of only spending $10? Do they charge you $50 to spend $10. This card is nothing what I thought it would be. Don't waste your time. If they offer you a letter in the mail telling you your pre-approved let the dog pee on it, light it on fire and flush it down the toilet because by the time you even begin to pay all the misc fees, it won't even be worth your time and money to try a raise your score.

I'm appalled with this card because when I talk to customer service just yesterday the lady told me my due date wouldn't be for a while, and I couldn't change my due date until a billing cycle of two months. I never seen a credit card that didn't even take a least 25 or 30 days to go through a normal billing cycle before you start owing them but the next day is completely ridiculous!!! My advice to anyone who reads this post is if you’re looking to rebuild your credit in which this day and age 92% are, do it the legit way with a company that is truly going to try and help you and not scam and lie and charge you a fee just because it’s another day of you being a cardholder with their company.

Apply with Capital One for a secured card. You'll have to make a deposit of $49, $99, or $200 or more if you want a higher credit limit but it’s worth it because they’re not charging you every day high fees just to touch the card. Or try Lexington Law, they may charge you a minimum of $100 to take your files and start you off, but I guarantee over time your score will increase & your debts will decrease and you'll be able to get the credit card you truly deserve. I took what I thought was the quick and easy way to lift my score over time but I was tricked with applying for this card. I'm going to pay off my balance, cancel my card, and run like hell!!

The person I talked to said that they would put a 48 hour hold on my account and if I found my card before the 48 hours was up, that they would not suspend and call it lost or stolen. I did find my card that very night so I then call to verify that I found it. At that time I thought it was settled but when I went online I was unable to sign on because it said account is temporary suspended.

When I call and talk to someone I know, on average I speak to 3 people including supervisors, managers and to this day still unable to get into my account. They want me to give all my info over the phone to someone in another country even after I had already given it. I even told them I no longer wanted the card at this point, all I wanted to do is pay it off but I just want to keep record of the transaction. So all I can say is don't misplace your card and do the right thing because you will never get back on. I feel this company is not doing the job they should. I feel as long as I can't pay online I should not be charged interest. I feel like they get bent because I call every day to get results and everyday I'm disappointed. After I closed it, I made sure to dispose of the card just so I do not get tempted to use. I was slowly paying off the remainder of the balance until my computer broke down and I lost my password for the online access to make payments. Now, in order to reset your password, you need to provide your account number, expiration date, and last 3 digits on the back of the card. Since I cut up the card months before, I no longer had it in my possession.

I called in and spoke with a representative who explained that they wouldn't release any information to me AFTER verifying my social security number and address... I asked for alternatives and they told me to pay over the phone which has a $15 fee.... are you kidding me??? So she offered me to report my card as "lost" so they can send me a new card which I can then create a new account on the website. Sounded reasonable, so I agreed until she said there would be a $25 charge for a replacement..... After arguing back and forth, they decided to waive it, but then offered me to extend my credit limit for $200 more BUT with a charge of $20 to increase...

I mean really.. these people have some nerve.. I understand they have to follow the policy but the service is terrible. It is the most inconvenient bank I have ever dealt with.
