I'm a customer. I do know they're a predatory lender now. However in an attempt to build credit, I took their offer after my Chapter 13 was fully paid and discharged. After a few months before payment's due date, the calls would start. From 8:00 am-9:00 pm EST. The calls come to my home and then cell phone about 2 minutes apart. This happens every 50 minutes or so non-stop for 13 hrs. In the spring and 8/2013 it was so bad, I threatened police action as I sat there with a bill not due.
Early today on line via debit, I paid my monthly bill $50.00 a little more than due on 9/3/13.Then no sooner the calls started, I finally answered saying that bill's paid. I'm good until 10/2/13 on web it's there too. Then, they started asking me would I like to take care of my entire remaining balance of $286.00? How can we take care of that today? What's your card number? Could I have your debit card now? Repeat call after call every 50 minutes or so by individuals whose English is questionable at best.
One foreign woman went as far as to suggest I could pay and use their card as my debit card. I replied, “Why would I want to do that?”I can't wait to pay this off and never have to deal with these global extortionists again. I heard “Ma’am, Ma’am” as I hung up on her. Her name was Linda. They’re probably going to call any minute again. I hope not. I'm disabled; my children are young and my husband works the night shift and a second job. If you contact me please do so over the internet. Thank you!

I opened a card with Credit One Bank years ago when I was 19 years old. I paid them on time everyone. 4 years later, I couldn't pay it no more so I asked them that if I paid them in full, if I could cancel my card since I couldn't pay them any more and they said I wasn't allowed to cancel with them. My balance went up to $1100. Since I couldn't pay, they decided to sue me this summer. Now I am in the process of paying their lawyers and for some reason, they are stating that I had a job. I never worked before and never reported that I worked to Credit One. I've been disabled since the age of 15 and been on disability ever since I was 18. Like everyone else, everyone who I talk to from Credit One was foreign.

There are 3 reasons that I know that this Credit One Bank is not the card for me: fees, fees, and more fees that my other cards do not charge. I've maintained a zero balance with Credit One Bank over the past year. (1) Each month they charge me an $8.95 charge on my 0 balance for reasons I'm not completely sure; (2) They automatically charge my card a $30 late fee at the start of my payment due date and reverse it off my account if a payment is made by close of business; (3) They have been offering me a limit increase over the past year, but in very small print they notify me of a fee if I accept--who does that! I just paid my last $8.95 today (on a zero balance) and will be closing my account as soon as it posts.

I have had my card for six months plus and since the first payment inquiry, I have not been happy. None of the credit card customer service reps are English-speaking which makes it very hard to understand when the phone number you call them on sounds like it is under water. I have been late for the first time this month and I've gotten a call every hour on the hour seven days a week. The first 5 days of which I was in the hospital. The guy was so rude the first day. He would not let me even explain my situation. He just kept demanding my checking account information and I told him it was overdrawn and that is why my payment was late due to my stay. I would not take any calls from them after that issue.
I got a prepaid Visa and tried to pay them with that. They told me it would not process and again demanded my checking account information. After about 40 minutes on the phone, I also called back to cancel the card. The lady heard my complaint and said to me, "Is that the only reason, because of customer service?" I told her, "Yes it was." She also told me it would be reported to the Credit Bureau. I told her the company was unacceptable and decided to take this approach to see what help or advice I can get to help me. I also think the company is doing business as an overseas company with an address of CA and NV. Please help?

Credit One is reporting a fraudulent card to collections. In July of 2012, I received a Credit One credit card in the mail, claiming I had applied for it. I immediately called the company and told them that I had not applied for the card. I was told no police report would be necessary, and it could be canceled before activated, eliminating the $94 annual fee. In the months following, I heard nothing from them, and assumed it was closed, until it showed on my credit report. I called several more times over the next year, until last month (7/2013), each time being advised that as of 10/3/2012, the "investigation was completed" and I was not found responsible for any card activity.
Still, it remained on my report, and so finally, this month (August 2013), I opened I dispute with the credit bureaus. Now, it is being reported that in 10/2012, rather than being closed without and recognized as a fraudulent account, my account was charged off to a collection agency. We are currently closing on our first home, and this will keep us from doing so as it has severely impacted my credit (I have an otherwise perfect payment history). When I called Credit One today, they told me that their notes indicated what I had been told previously, that it was closed and no fault of mine, but I cannot seem to get any help in proving this! I cannot get a letter, or have them report again. How can I get this corrected??

I too had the same thing happen to me. My boss got a voice mail telling me I needed to call a 866# and give them a claim #. The guy was pretty rude and threatening, telling me that they didn't leave a message, their "locator" must have. Said that I was accused of "breach of fraud" because I didn't pay my bill, and that I was in pre-litigation. They scared me pretty good, I called Credit One and was told that they sold my account to this place, so I needed to deal with them. When I called back, they said as long as I hadn't had any papers served to me, I was ok, and they would be able to work with me. I gave them my debit card #, but at the last minute, changed my mind and when they asked for the security code on the back of the card, I gave them a different one.
I have done some research and discovered that these guys are complete scam artists. They have to send you a debt validation letter, and they can't threaten you with legal action or tell you that you have been accused of a crime over the phone. It doesn't matter what kind of collection agency they are, they still have to follow the law. I am filing a complaint and canceling my card.

I was recently in San Diego on vacation. I had used my card at a duty free store on the US side of the border. When we got home, I called to verify my balance and found 3 fraudulent charges from Mexico on my card. I got a rep on the line and asked first of all for someone in the US and not India or wherever their call center is and was told they were it. A sterling example of where this country is heading and what is wrong with it. Why aren't their call centers in the good old USA where you can get someone named Jose or Fred to help you? Anyway, the charges had yet to post but were pending. I explained that I work for one of the largest banks in the world and we handle fraud claims daily. The service rep said they could do nothing about launching the fraud investigation until they had hard posted. I said that's insane as THEY ARE FRAUDULENT, READ MY LIPS!!!
They then gave me to a supervisor named Sean (interesting) who was kind enough to launch it but couldn't put a hold on the charges. He also said they might be withdrawn before posting. WRONG AGAIN!!! I called yesterday, 13 days after the fact, they had not only posted but were still under investigation and the girl, JILL (seriously) said that it could take 2 billing cycles before the investigation was complete. At my bank, not only are the charges placed on hold but a decision is usually made within 7-10 business days. Apparently, there is one man named Judy who is in Siberia (lol) who is conducting said investigations. If you get an offer from these clowns, shred it, burn it, remove its life and don't move forward with it. This is hands down the worst experience I've ever had with a bank. Turn and run, people. It's not worth the headaches!!!

I only had this card for 4 months and after being only a few days late, decided I would pay this card off and close the account. Their customer service reps (3 of them) refused to listen. I told all three of them that I would be paying this card off on a certain day. They kept asking for my banking information over the phone. I told them repeatedly that I WILL NOT give my information over the phone. They continued to harass me for it. So that day finally came that I could pay them off. I used their online system. The payment went through. They got their money. When I went to look at my account online they had temporary suspended it. I called them, they said they account had been suspended because I paid more than the amounts I usually pay. So I had to get them information from my bank validating that my bank paid my credit card. What the HELL!!! What company freezes your account due to being paid off?
Again they were harassing me for my bank information. I spoke to 5 different reps (all foreign) all of them stating I need to provide them my bank information so they can validate my payment. They have already received the money for the account. I told them the reason I was paying off the account was due to their customer service and them always asking for my bank information. I told them to close my account. They then said even if I close this account and not give them my banking information they will report my account to the bureaus as being closed by the Credit Grantor. How is that!!!? I the consumer is the one requesting the close not the grantor. I have since reported them to the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau for fraud. Who has ever heard of an account being suspended due to paying an amount more than what you usually pay?..... Just filed a complaint today so we will see what happen.

I have been trying to pay off Credit One Bank for several years. I finally began to work with a credit counseling company that is consolidating my payments into one easy account while they paid off my creditors. However, the one and only company that would not work with them was Credit One Bank. They wanted them to be a member of another accrediting group that this counseling company had never heard of. Or they wanted you to use THEIR group.
Well, I refused, and my company sent them payments in my name. I would send any amount over their payment to keep from getting the phone calls and eventually the payments they made for me were enough. They called a few months ago to get the payoff information and were told it was $14.00. Well, it wasn't, and since then they have added two $35.00 payments for late payments (which we thought there were none) and the total amount owed quickly rose to over $90.00.
So today I decided to pay that off and as soon as I set up that payment I called them and had them cancel the account. Then they started talking about any other charges that might come through and I told them that if they tried to make me pay even 2 more cents on that account after it was closed that I would take them to court for harassment (they continued to call me AT WORK even after I told them time and again to stop calling me there).
The funniest thing was when they asked me what it would take to open my account back up. Unfortunately the answer I gave the poor customer service rep was not funny and she was rushing through her spiel by the end, I'm sure to get me off the line, which was fine with me. I would have just hung up but I wanted to hear the words "the account is closed."
Stay away from this company. I actually was not paying much attention and thought it was a card from Capital One (another sneaky thing - they have made their logo look as close to Capital One as they can - and I'm sure it's a way to scam you into thinking they are something they are not). It's tempting to go for a credit card, but most reputable companies do not charge you a start-up fee - that's a major red flag right there. In reading the other complaints on this page I can tell you that they are all true, and that I experienced many of the same things they did.
DO NOT use this company. Report them to any agency you can that might make this company comply with the fair credit act laws (like not harassing you with phone calls). They also need to expand working with other credit counseling agencies that help you pay off your debts with them, not just the ones they deem worthy (and which I suspect are smack dab in the middle of Credit One's pocket - making sure you get the shaft even as you try to pay off everything).

When account was first opened, I was charged without having even activated my card. Fees were reversed and a new card reissued...I should have known then not to do business with this company. About a year later I lost my job and had initiated their CREDIT PROTECTION...Again problems...they had no clue regarding their own credit protection plans and services...harassment began. Finally Credit Protection payments kicked in...
Calls stopped for a while. I was ill and hospitalized emergency style, and missed the Credit Protection Re-Validation form...I managed to call them, they said they would email Credit One to stop late fees...never happened. Credit One calls at least 10 times per day...they do not cease calling, and will not even communicate with their own Credit Protection department bearing their name.

I have been with this co for over 3 years and never have been late. When I tried to log in to make a payment, it stated it was temporarily suspended. I called the number and after an hour of giving me the runaround, they decided to transfer me to an acct specialist. The call got disconnected. I called again and went through the same thing: when they transferred me, I got a voice mail.
I call the next day and get the runaround. This time, they tell me that someone will call me. Nobody ever did. I call the next day, very upset. I ask to speak to a supervisor. As I am being transfer, they hang up on me. I call again. This time, they tell me that the account specialist dept is close, to call the next day before 5 pm. I call the following day at 3 pm. They transfer me to the "acct specialist dept". I get no answer, no voice mail, just endless ringing. I call back again. This time, they tell me that dept is close, that I have to call back before 4 pm this time. It's been 2 weeks and I still get no answer.

I have had an account with Credit One for over 3 years. I have had no problems even when I missed a payment. No strange phone calls. Just paid the late fee. As far as using the website to make a payment they give you an option to pay at no fee but, your funds will not be available for use for 4 days. If you want your funds to be available sooner then you will be charged $9.95 your funds will be available next day. This is spelled out on the site. I have never had problems making a payment on the website. Sometimes I make a payment at Wal-Mart it cost $1.88 and the funds post in 2 days.

If they say there are fraud charges against you or that you are in legal trouble that is illegal, talk to an attorney and sue them. A creditor can sue you for breach of contract and only accuse you of fraud if you lied on your application, say about income, your age, address, etc. So, if they accuse you of fraud try to tape the calls, go to a lawyer and sue them. I have this card and it sucks, $8.25 a month is charged for the "membership" fee which is $99 a year. If membership has its privileges I cannot see what they are with this company. A $400 credit limit @ 23.90% interest and $8.50 a month fee is crazy. Cancelling the card.
I say again, if they threaten you or tell relatives you are "in trouble" they are violating the FCRA and you can sue them easily and win, not much, only $1000 per violation and attorneys fees, but add it up, they tell 3 or 4 friends or relatives you "are in trouble legally" that is $1000 per violation. Stop putting up with this crap, stop paying high fees on credit cards, get a secure card with Capital One or a credit union locally, pre-paid cards are a rip off too. You all can find boards to complain on after the fact, how about you use the internet to do due diligence before you sign up. I admit my mistake with this card, my fault.

I applied for a Credit One Bank credit card, based on my poor credit, and I think it's just scam and poor business. I missed a payment, they said, and I got charged all these crazy fees, but I made the payment. But they denied it and did not process it and so I accumulated all these charges, and was unable to make payments because of it. I tried contacting them several times. They put you on hold forever and nobody ever comes to phone. I believe my credit limit was 400 dollars. Well now they want me to pay 800 to 10000 dollars because of problems with payments and not able to contact them on the phone. Never sent me a bill via mail or anything or collections notice.
Now I have a company calling me which I believe is a scam saying they bought the debt and are going to send court documents, but thing is I never received collection notice, or any bill or anything about trying to arrange payment plan. The company that bought them, they call themselves pre-litigation firm, that their name, they won't even give me an address to where they are located or anything which is odd and no real legitimate name. I just want to make aware that Credit One Bank is a scam and this other company that say they bought my debt. so consumers should beware. I have read a lot of other people had the same problem with the credit card company and feel it's a shame and a scam.

I called Credit One to let them know several times and they were to send the proper papers for the investigation and never did. Since then my husband has had a heart attack and I have suffered loss of work because of my health. I told the Credit One I was going to file bankruptcy and they still called me, my family, my friends and told them that I was in severe trouble with the law and I was going to be charged with fraud.
This company is dangerous to your credit and has caused me severe anxiety and I have spoke to an attorney about a lawsuit of harassment. I am not sure about the fraud charge. I have tried so many times to offer a settlement with them and to no need they keep calling and will not settle with any amount but the full amount. Please stay away from this company.

It said my payment never went through, And being that I get paid every two weeks, I had money again. So I placed another 30 dollar payment on the 29th.. That said 3 to 4 days transaction, hoping it would be 3 to 4 days. and they would catch their mistake......... Then the very next day on the 30th both payments came out the same day. Even tho it was for 2 separate months..
So a month goes by... I receive another 20 plus calls.. I finally call them back only to be told that I missed a month and that I'm late.. and my minimum is upped to 50 a month, even tho It was their mistake they took one payment a week and a half after I placed it, on the same day as a payment that was suppose to take 3 to 4 days.. and all he told me I was wrong that I apparently placed two payments on the same day and didn't realize it.. even tho my girl friend was sitting right next to me the 2 weeks before when I made the payment and she was there when I was wondering why they didn't take the money yet... Then after going around and around with a guy that can hardly speak English, he says he is going to connect me to somebody that can help me.. then he hangs up... I've never been treated as such by any other business, And the fact he was Indian has nothing to do with it.. Just very very bad business practices.

I had a account with Credit One Bank. I only had the minimum credit line of $500.00. I had a balance of $200. Some odd change. Well to beat all, they cannot call and threaten anyone with going to jail or being arrested. That is a violation of a fair credit act. As well if you send them a letter in writing that they can no longer contact you. You have the right to document their harassing calls.. If they contact you further you can have them fined up to $1000.00 each time you are contacted. Use your phone records. I just recently went through a debt consolidation company. It may vary from state to state. I am living proof that they cannot harass you or call your job or send you any mailings I'd you have asked them in writing to stop. You know you owe the company. All they want is their money. They are not going to take you to court or cost themselves any more expense. Make payments as you can of what you can. Always make sure you have a receipt.
I know they can put it in your credit score. You can always make that better by not getting in any more in debt. If they refuse any payment you send to them, then that means the account is paid in full. You are no longer required to pay anything more. If they contact you again then it is a violation of both the contract. Call Progressive Debt Relief and join the debt relief program based on your monthly income and be debt free in about 15 months. Good luck. It feels so good to be debt free after all this time. Also they cannot collect or speak to you without having a agent here in the United States. You can ask for a representative for the USA - they have to get you one. They cannot collect any debt from outside the USA. They don't have any attorney that can represent them here and won't be budged. Yes they can be found very convincing, just know your rights...

I've been with Credit One for several years and in that time, I've had several credit limit increases, some of which came with a fee and some that didn't. There are a number of fees associated with this card and the interest rate is high, but all of that was spelled out in the initial paperwork. I never saw any attempt to hide their fee structure in the terms and conditions and believe me, I examine this stuff carefully. I do carry a balance sometimes, but I also try to keep the card paid off as much as possible (and always pay at least twice a month and well over the minimum payment if I can't pay the balance) and for what it is the card has worked well for me.
I've never had a problem using the website and I always use the standard payment feature (I'm not going to pay anyone nearly 10 bucks to access my money no matter how much I like them). The "express payment" fee is rather aggravating in principle, but then again they don't hide the fact they do it. It is spelled out in their fee structure. If I consistently had to pay the money to get the card right back into use, then there is probably something going on with my financial situation that makes this card a bad idea anyway. There are a handful of other cards out there that don't charge this fee, but they are expensive as well in their own right (anyone out here ever applied for the 59.9 percent APR First Premier card?).
I can't speak for their customer service reps as I've never needed to talk to them. Their website has always functioned just fine for all of my needs to this point. When I saw the comments about the logo being like Capital One, I pulled both cards out of my wallet and sure enough the logo is very close, if not identical. I really never noticed, but I never had any confusion as to what card I was applying for as I read all the materials very closely. One of the reasons I am currently relying on subprime credit sources to rebuild my credit is that I haven't always scoured the fine print for any nasty little gotchas.
Would I recommend this card to a friend or a family member? That would depend on several factors - not the least of which being if the card is even still available (at this time I don't think they are taking on new accounts. Not sure why). Additionally, this card is specifically aimed at people who have bad credit but can still manage to qualify for an unsecured card and as such it can be a very useful tool for that purpose, but if proper care isn't taken it will bite. If someone I know who is struggling with bad credit asks me, I don't mind telling them to check into this card (among others aimed at this market as well), but to read all of the terms and conditions carefully, use the card wisely, and don't even consider applying if they are not well able to pay the bills they currently have. After accepting the offer, I was advised of a time frame for delivery of my card - approx. 3 weeks. After 1 month, I called to ask about the status of my offer and was told the card had been sent on June 19, 2013. On or about June 27, 2013, I received a statement in the mail with the charges applied. I called again and asked about the status of the card and that I've never received a statement ahead of the card. I was told the card had been sent on the 19th of June and to expect 7-10 days for delivery - and that the billing statement always comes first. Today is the 10th business day for the expected delivery of the card. I did not receive it. I contacted Credit One again and they advised a new card would be sent with a new account number - again allowing 7-10 bus. days for delivery. I promptly asked to cancel my acceptance to their offer based on the poor service and high fees. They acknowledged my cancellation and gave me a reference number without asking... as if they are accustomed to this often.

I understand they are a hard lender type of credit card. However, they should have personnel able to handle something as sensitive and crucial as a credit card. I had a dispute with a vendor and every time I called, I got different and, as it turns out, incorrect information. The level of ineptness and incompetence was staggering. It is obviously outsourced overseas which if they are trained properly would be okay but this is not the case and it shows. I suggest strongly trying another credit card company. They could actually hurt your credit rather than help. My guess is this company will not be around long.

I was out of work for several months and got behind on my card. They added so many additional late fees and monthly charges that the balance soared. I was finally able to start making payments again, which I did to the tune of several hundred dollars, finally bringing my balance back under the credit limit. Looking at my account online, I saw available credit and decided to use it at the store to make sure. Sure enough, it was declined. When I called CreditOne to ask what was going on, I was informed that the account had been closed.
I should have just paid the remaining balance right then, but I was angry. I asked them why nobody had informed me the account was closed and got no satisfactory response. I told them to cancel the card immediately and stop charging additional fees on a closed account. Apparently, that fell on deaf ears (I should have sent certified mail). They have continued to accrue additional charges every month to the point that the balance due is staggering. I've been praying that they will finally turn it over to a collection agency because that freezes the debt, although from some of these posts, I'm beginning to have my doubts.
They began calling me multiple times a day to the point of harassment, furthering my disgust and anger. Finally, at one point, I told the rep to "do what he had to do" and that they would never see a penny of this fraudulent debt. Then I blocked their number(s). So they started calling me from "Number Unavailable" which I cannot block. We're talking all day every day, including weekends. I don't answer calls like that, which I guess they eventually figured out. I started getting calls from "Private," which are also impossible to block and which I would also never answer. Finally, they left a voice mail and it was from a woman named Amy. She said something about a case against me and informed me that I "had been notified" as if it she were a claim server and now I had to respond.
Today I got a local call from my area code and, thinking it could be any number of people I needed to talk to, I answered. It was a woman named Lisa ** who said she had papers to serve on me. I asked her what they were about and she couldn't tell me, but did imply that they might be criminal. I called Amy at her 866 number and found out this all involved - you guessed it - our great friends at CreditOne. She works for "Global," a "pre-litigation firm." When I asked her for the legal name of the corporation, for instance, Global Enterprises, Global, LLC or what have you, she insisted it's just "Global." - Very convenient. She told me I was facing charges of breach of contract and fraud. I asked her if she was saying criminal charges were being filed, but she wouldn't respond. When I asked her again, she responded, "Have you ever heard of anyone being charged with fraud and it's not criminal?"
Tell you what, if I was mad before and annoyed by the constant harassment, I am absolutely livid now, especially after reading the long and frightening litany of complaints which precede mine in this space. I want to shut these people down and see someone go to prison. This is unconscionable and has to stop. I've created a unique email address for anyone who would like to discuss forming a class action and possible criminal complaint. Working together, we can turn the screws on these thugs!

I received a call from Credit One today about a recently opened credit card account. The first payment that I made online had several charges that were in question, but I paid them anyway because I truly wanted to make sure that the account was always paid and posted on time. While it appears that they are charging you for "paying your bill" and charging to make sure that it is posted as well, I paid the extra charges. So that meant that I was being charged for paying, and charged for posting. I tried to pay my second payment online. It would have been 4 days late because I simply forgot to pay it. When I attempted to pay it online the second time, the Credit One online payment process it was full of glitches. I tried to find out who I could call and where I could go to talk to someone about this, but I could not find any information.
When I got the call about the account today and tried to get some answers about the glitches first, all went downhill. By the time that the conversation was rudely ended by a manager, I felt that I had been verbally attacked and demanded and insulted. Mind you this was just in the course of trying to have a conversation about the glitches on the online payment process and to acknowledge a payment date. There was never a dispute on my part. I was just attempting to get answers to the payment process and to get the bill paid.
I cannot believe how this was handled and how insulting that the manager became near the end of the conversation. This is definitely a company that borders on harassment and insulting tactics as a part of the "Customer Services" techniques. I would not advise anyone to get a credit card with these folk. They are very rude, insulting, evasive and seem not to care how they treat their customers. After reading the complaints about them, I wished that I had investigated them thoroughly before I agreed to get a credit card through them.

I have no problem paying this off, after all, I do own it. But what I do have a problem with is when they call me and I ask to speak to a supervisor, I am hung up on. And 10 minutes later, they call again. If it's the same person who I asked to speak to a supervisor, I am promptly hung up on again. This goes on all day long. This is not what I call good service. I received a credit card offer at the end of May. I made the mistake of applying for the card online without checking the legitimacy of the bank. Big mistake! I have never received a card and I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now. I called them when 10 days had passed and the card should have arrived. I gave them my new address because I had moved and asked that they send a new card. The rep said he would change the address and ship a new card. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the rep put me on hold for a very long time, only to eventually say a supervisor was not available.
10 days later, I called because I had not received a card and I found out the address had never been changed. The rep again said that he would change my address and send a new card. I complained that I already received a bill and was being asked to make a payment on the $75 annual fee but did not think it was fair to have to pay when I had not even received the card and was not sure that I was going to. He said he could close the account but not reverse the charges, for that I would need to speak to a supervisor. As had happened the last time, he put me on hold for a very long time then came back on the line and said a supervisor was unavailable.
I informed the rep that I did not believe I could trust the company and that I wanted him to cancel the card and remove all charges because I had not received the card and did not want to do business with the company. He said he could only send a new card and rush it so that I would receive it in 3-5 business days. I was so frustrated that I said fine, send the card. I thought by receiving the card, I might get access to another person who had customer service skills and did what I asked. After over 10 days of waiting, I called back to say that I still had never received the card but I did receive a new bill stating that I was charged a rush fee for the card being rushed (the card I never received) and a late fee (although I specifically asked for the payment date to be changed because I had not received a card yet).
Again I asked to speak to a supervisor, and again I was left on hold just to be told that the supervisor was unavailable. This bank does not practice customer service and from what all the other comments say, they also charge very high fees. Sadly, the funniest part of this whole story is that I did the next day receive a letter from them stating that I updated my address with them. However, still I received no credit card!

It said that I had an annual fee of $8 which I didn't pay on time, which resulted in a late fee of $35, which brought the total to $43. Then, 2 months of interest was also charged on top of the $43 to bring the total to $102.95!! I called to complain. Of course they don't budge at all, and I'm forced to pay. I have had a credit card from Credit One Bank for three years that I have always kept in good standing. I have not used it for a few months, as I was trying to not use credit to pay for everything. Recently, I have had occasion to need to use my Credit One Bank card. When I went to use it, the charge declined. I then spoke with their customer service department, and was told that I had asked them to cancel the card in March 2013. I NEVER authorized this to happen. I got this card when I was rebuilding my credit, and had to pay a $75 fee to get the card, a $25 fee to get a $100 credit-line increase, AND a renewal fee every year in addition. With all of these fees I pay, I certainly would not cancel this card! That would be like losing all that money from the fees I paid just to GET the card.
I was told by the representative's manager that there was nothing they could do and that I did, indeed, cancel the card. Again, I explained to her that I did NOT cancel the card. I was then told that my only recourse was to apply for a brand-new Credit One Bank Card. If I do that, I will have to pay $75 AGAIN to open a new account. Why would I ever agree to do that? I want to file a formal complaint against them for fraudulent business practices. I want proof that I authorized this card to be canceled, which they cannot provide, because I DID NOT cancel the card. I was also told that they would not waive the $75 fee if I re-applied for a new card. I think this would have been a reasonable compromise, but the manager disagreed with me and was extremely arbitrary and not receptive to my input. What legal recourse do I have at this point? I feel like I lost at least $100 in fees for a card that I now cannot even use.

I wanted to pay this credit card off because it is so bad that I started making automatic payments through my bank at $10 a week which exceeds my minimum payment. They charged me late fees at $35 each time. I called to speak with someone about it and they were very rude to me and told me, "You will never pay off your balance and we will keep charging you a late fee." In other words, they told me that they did not want me to make 4 payments a month so the $10 just before the due date was not the minimum payment that justified the late fee. Then they started applying my payments as much as 9 days later, sometimes 7 or 5 but it was always to delay it so they could charge me a late fee which in one case held me over the limit for 2 months which included more fees.
I am paying this off and not using it again. I would suggest an Orchard Bank MasterCard. I have one and they are nice, no phone calls, no unjustified fees, no lies and harassment. I will be making any credit card purchases with them from now on. Do not go to Credit One Bank!

In my book, this bank is conducting usurious and predatory practices. I was given a card by them with a limit of $500. Right off the bat, they charged $75 annual fee. If you believe in the saying, "What is good for the goose is good for the gander," they charge almost 24% interest on balances which will cost you and me almost $93 the first year. Then somewhere in their umpteen pages of agreements, it is said that the fee will go up to $99 a year, but to be understanding of the customer's financial situation, they will split this into monthly payments of $8.25 a month.
Now if you are like me and always pay your balance in full, once the $8.25 charges kick in, they never notify you of such. I just checked my account and found out that I owed them $26 in late fees of $8.25 a month on top of the monthly charges as well as almost 24% interest on the balance. On top of that, I got charged another late fee of $25 increasing my minimum payment fee up to $50. I was waiting on my first paycheck from my new job to go through. That week alone, I received about 8 calls a day during work. I made the mistake of answering one of the calls which you could tell they outsource to other countries. I cancelled this account back in October of 2012 and am in the process of paying it off. I am still being charged annual fees even though the card is not being used. I feel this is very unjust as in as much as I want to pay this off, I still incur annual fees so it is almost like a purchase every month and takes away from my payment. Is this really legal? I can't seem to believe that they can get away with this on a card that is cancelled. Please let me know.

I was approximately one week past due. Payment due was on the 6th and I did pay out of my month end check so I was going to pay on the 15th. I could not log in so I called back on the number displayed on my cell phone since they call at least 6-7 times a day. I was going to pay slightly over my minimum. Then the guy got me to pay a little more. Then the supervisor tried for more. Initially, the phone agent assumed that I was going to pay my complete balance? Someone indicated that they spoke to a Sean? I've never heard an American/English name used for anyone at Credit One. They're all Indian or Pakistan names.

After getting behind on my payments for two months, I was getting no less than 20 calls a day from Credit One Bank and it was on at least 20 different local and short distance phone numbers ... let that sink in for a minute ... for two months. I was in a position to handle my account with them. I called in and made an agreement on the phone to pay the account in full if they remove the BS $35/late fees. She agreed and then I paid it all in full in one payment. I immediately asked to confirm I am paid in full and this would stop the ridiculous daily calls, and the representative said, "The account is paid in full, and this will stop any phone calls!" I lost my job and got behind in my payments. In December 2012, they offered me an arrangement that if I paid $125, they would waive the late fees and my account would remain open and report to the credit bureaus as being paid on time as long as I continued to make my monthly payments. I pulled my credit reports in February 2013 and found out my Credit One account had been closed. When I called the bank, I was told it had been closed in November 2012, a full month before the arrangement. After speaking to a supervisor, I gave up and decided to just keep paying the monthly payments on the closed account.
Today, 5 days before my payment is even due, I had 3 calls from them. When I finally spoke to them, they were calling to get me to make the payment that is not even due yet and they suggested that they were going to go ahead and withdraw it from my bank account anyway. I specifically said that I did not authorize them to withdraw anything from my bank account and supposedly he put a note on my account not to call me to obtain payments that aren't due yet after I informed him that was considered harassment. We'll see how it turns out, but I am writing a letter to the BBB as well.

The mistake of allowing COB to take funds on a monthly basis from my account proved to be a wrong idea. Due to a date change, COB tried to withdraw funds from my checking account and was blocked by my bank. My bank told me that they tried this on two different occasions with different amounts. After all was said and done, I tried to go onto my "online account" and found it was suspended. I called and talked to three (3), yes three, customer service agents. I was told if I pay the month missed (the present month and next month's payments), my account would be back on. Not the case at all!
They took three months' payments. I was only one behind because of the problem and claim that there's nothing they can do. This company took me and now could screw up my credit report, so I'm pissed off! I'm writing a letter to the company, bank, BBB and the federal agency on credit reporting. So I've only had this credit card for six months but I've paid the balance in full or close to it almost every month. This month, I made three payments, all before the due date. For some strange reason, the last two payments bounced back, but I still paid $350 on a $400 cc with a $25 minimum payment fifteen days before the due date. No one contacted me regarding the returned payments and I have no idea why they were returned. Instead, they just closed my card, negatively affecting my credit. I just spent the last hour trying to communicate with their customer service department, which is so bad it verges on fraudulent, only to be told there was nothing they could do to reopen my account.

Well, 30 days went by and charges were still on my new account and no paperwork yet. I called again and they said they'll send another one. Well, two months later, still no paperwork and they only give you 90 days to report it and send back paperwork. Now, they temporarily removed the charges. I received an application in the mail for the Credit One Bank card. I thought that they were associated with Capital One, so I filled out the application and mailed it in. I needed to pay off my child's braces, and I wanted to make smaller monthly payments rather than the $250 monthly payments that I was making to the orthodontist. When I got the card in the mail, I immediately realized that this was a mistake to have applied for this card, after reading their terms. I cut the card up and threw it away. The following month, I was billed from Credit One Bank for $25, then billed again last month for $25, even though I had not activated the card, and cut it up and threw it away! I sent in the payments, thinking that I was paying my Capital One bill (a big mistake, but Credit One Bank looks very much like Capital One, which is another one of their clever deceptions).
I started thinking that this bill was odd, so I called their 1-800 number, and I got an automated voice prompt telling me to activate my card. I tried to get around it because I did not want to activate the card, but I was not able to navigate around the activation prompt. You literally cannot talk to an agent until you activate the card, so this was coercion. I had to call back in order to talk to an agent. I told the agent that I was billed for an annual fee even though I had not wanted the card, and had cut it up and disposed of it, and had not activated it until forced to do so by their system setup. The agent acted unconcerned and said, "Well, you sent in the application, didn't you?" I said yes, but simply sending in an application should not mean that you accept their terms. So even though I decided not to accept their terms and conditions, they immediately billed me $75 even though I did not activate their card.
I have now read all of the online complaints about this company and have learned that they also do many other unscrupulous things, the worse being that you can't seem to cancel this card. So you are more or less stuck with paying these extortionists their excessive fees. I am going to attempt to cancel the card, but I have read other complaints from others who tried to cancel the card, and upon cancelling, find additional charges added to their accounts, so they can keep you or, should I say, force you to stay enslaved to their scam. I hope that legal action will be taken against them, and I will support any such legal action. What they are doing has to be illegal, and they need to be shut down.

I called and asked again if they could change the date and complained about the late fee. The lady told me she could not change the date, but could waive the late fee this one time. I paid the balance off except the $25 and went on my way. I was just not going to use it anymore. This month rolls around and how much do i owe? $50.00 freaking dollars. I did not even look at that statement because I knew I had paid it off and was about to cancel it anyway. I had just needed it while I was in the process of buying a house.
Now they say they can't do anything. Well he did say he would take one charge off. I said no freaking way. He said it was not notated that it was supposed to be removed. I said, "How in the heck am I supposed to control that?" She did not do her job. I told him to listen to the recorded phone conversation. He said he would get back to me in 6 days. Well Mack, don't worry, I will be contacting you in 6 days and there better not be any extra charges on my card!

They were very rude and ignorant. I informed them that if I got another bill, we would go to court. They don't seem to care. So, anyone out there up for a class action lawsuit? Unfortunately, that is about the only way to shut these crooks down. I have already tried the credit reporting company route and they are just as bad in trying to set things right. Stay away from these scammers. They hurt your credit rather than help you repair it.

This company is an extortionist-run operation. I applied for this card through Credit Karma. I was notified that they sent the card via email. I received the card and after reading the Visa/MC Cardholder Agreement Disclosure Statement and Arbitration Agreement, I called the number. Unbeknownst to me, it is the same number that you use to activate the card. I called an hour later to cancel the card. I voided the card and sent it back with a cancellation letter certified mail. I called them back after receiving a credit card statement for $25 due of the $75 annual membership fee. The statement is dated 6/21/2012. I called and recorded the conversation with an Asian customer service rep that indeed the card was cancelled. However, upon checking my Credit Karma account, I found out that this credit card is a new entry on 7/01/2012. Do not apply for this card no matter how credit challenged you may be. On 6/28/2012, I asked and was told that my telephone cancellation was sufficient.

Okay, I was approved, good so far. I received the bill prior to the card. This happens and is normal. I called the same night to pay the total balance, used my debit card to expedite payment so when I receive my card, there will be a zero balance.
I received the card a week later (2 weeks after the card is associated w/ my file). I sat down last night and reviewed my online banking statement as I do twice a month. There, in black and white is my authorized payment to Credit One, but, just after that is an unauthorized deduction of $100 even! Okay, so I assume it's human error or something and I called Credit One for my first communication. Not good. They say they did not take 2 drafts. Um, yes you did, and here's the proof. The proof is not acceptable via phone, Okay, where can I fax it, because I should have a $100 credit now and I want this resolved asap. There is nothing they can do. They want the paper statement from my bank faxed to a standard customer service fax # in which they will start an investigation in 10-14 business days.
Um, no. This is unacceptable, to tell me that you made an error, and you will not look into it within 48 hours. I will not wait a month before seeing my money, and if this is how they treat their customers, let's cancel the card immediately and I will contact my bank (USAA) and advise them the $100 was unauthorized. Credit One then tried telling me maybe someone in my house that I have authorized on the card called to authorize that. Now you're just reaching. You are in my file, and can see there is no one authorized. And no, there is no one else in my home, so let's move this up to a manager.
The manager says the same thing, points the finger at me for the 2nd debit, but says there is no debit. I asked to speak with the manager's manager because this is insane, and I do not have the tolerance to deal with stupidity. I'm not asking for anything unreasonable, I don't want a check cut back, I want them to acknowledge the extra debit from my account and credit my card an extra $100 (which would mean no payments for a long time seeing my balance is 0). And I want resolution within 48 hours, not a lot to ask. The manager tried to get his mgr. on the horn, but was not able to, so he said he would speak to his boss about it and call me back within 30 mins. to 1 hr. They did, and they are investigating the issue and will have a resolution within 48 hours.
I'm not happy that I had to go so deep into the Customer Service chain. I'm not that person, but, I am relatively satisfied that they are investigating. I will, of course, do my part in making sure they have all the PPW needed to see the extra debit from my bank acct. All in all - very bad experience. Oh, that first bill wasn't due till July, the one that I paid early.

On a $300 balance, over $100 of it was fees. They offer low interest because they make their money in fees. When I called customer service, I get either an Asian or usually an Indian woman who are polite, but can barely speak English. I would not recommend to anyone. Horrible card. I am unsure of why everyone has a problem with Credit One. I received a pre-approval letter in the mail in Sept 2011. I read about the card having a fee. No offense, I am not sure why people did not read about fees before actually signing up. I always look for an annual fee. Anyways, I got my card, paid the fee and pay my payment through the website with my banking information, always have. I don't wait till my payment is almost due to pay it. I pay as soon as it tells me my due date. I have never had to call because I have had 0 problems with them, so I cannot say much to their customer service, never been told I am late or been called.
One minor complaint I may say I have is they do give you a free credit score every month. It does not seem to be a true one because it never matches the numbers on the 3 credit reporting companies. Overall, they are a good company. I would recommend them to someone who had bad credit and needs a second chance.

I paid ten days earlier than my due date which was 5/28/12 and for some reason they returned my money.
How is this my problem? And if there was a problem, why address it a month later? Let me know about the issue as it happened or in a reasonable time frame. No, I get harassed at my job for 20 minutes on the phone with these people when it is not my fault why they returned or cancelled my early payment for May. However, I kept telling them my current bill says I owe $75 on June 28, 2012, which I intend to pay then.
I am not in collections, so I don't see the point of this harassment. This will be forwarded to their human resources department. I feel they were out of line and out of place to harass me while I'm at work. I kept telling them I am at work and my bill says my payment is not due until June 28th.

I ran into this site and wanted to give my two cents about Credit One. This will be a fair review by a real card user. To date, I have used this card for 3 months. What people are saying about the customer support is very true. They are very mean and rude. If you make it to a senior supervisor, you will get someone a bit more professional. The problem with me having to do this is the questions I posed were not about a balance or anything. Just average questions about the account in general. It should have been a couple of smooth calls. This was not the case. For this, they lose one star.
Another thing of concern to me is the fact that payments are held for 10 days. This is the free, pay-from-your-checking account method. I do appreciate that opportunity, but for $9.99, they will expedite the payment and process the funds within 48 hours. So for them to say that they need to protect themselves by waiting for the payment to clear from my checking account is a lie because for an extra 10 bucks, they don't care if it clears first? There is no way for the money to travel faster because of 10 more dollars. So I got a hold of a supervisor and she did mention something about payments under $100 will clear quicker. We will see if this is the case.
She did contact my bank by three-way phone call to confirm the payment cleared, which the bank said it cleared the bank 3 days before (this was day 5). So it is evident that they are using the funds for a week or so before posting it to accounts. This was something that was not disclosed before getting the card. I asked a ton of questions and was told paying by checking account was free, but never told a 10-day wait. I have a Capital One cc and an Orchard (now owned by Capital One) cc. I pay the same way and if the payment was made by 5PM central, the funds show on my card the next business day. For this, they lose a star.
So now the up side of their card. I have yet to receive any bogus charges or harassing phone calls. No misconduct with my checking account. No online issues so far. I get free cash advances from them and my bank processes them for free. So I give them 3 stars for this.

I have both a Capital One-secured MasterCard and an unsecured Credit One bank Visa. Both started with a small limit of $400.00 each. I ruined my credit a few years back (Don't ask; it's a long story). Anyway, I have had the Capital One card for about 3 years now; and the Credit One, for 16 months. I started with a SC of 522, and as of today, April 26, 20012, my SC stands at 652 solely because of those 2 cards. I still have all that other bad stuff on my credit report, but over time, creditors don't look at it as bad as when I first ruined my credit.
I now have an unsecured MasterCard from Capital One (They converted my secured account to unsecured.) with a $1,600 credit line, and my Credit One Visa has a $1000 limit. Plus, I just was approved for a Wal-Mart credit card with a $1,100 limit. If you are trying to rebuild your credit, here is some advice.
It takes time to undo what you did to your credit and nothing you do can make it faster. So, get a sub-prime card and don't use it, unless you can pay off the balance on your next statement and only use it every other month. Don't carry it with you; leave it at home. And so, you're not tempted to buy something you can't afford. If you can afford it, pay cash or don't get it! It will take 3 to 6 months to see a positive change in your credit score. Don't carry a balance on your card, because if you have a $300 limit and carry a $112 balance on it, that's a 35%+ usage of you available credit and that doesn't look good on a credit report. So keep your card below 5% (less than $15 if you have a $300 limit). If you have to use your $300 credit limit card to get by between paychecks, then you don't need a credit card.
I am living proof that sub-prime cards help people with credit problems, and it was easy too. I improved my SC 130 points in about 3 years and went from a secured card to $3,600 unsecured credit limits in the same time just by doing the thing I have listed below. Good luck.
You have a sub-prime card, because you don't qualify for a prime card. Sub-prime cards almost always start with a low credit limit, so you can build you credit score over time. You can't live off a $300.00 credit card, and you're not supposed to. You use a low credit limit card to build credit history. If you are late on your payment, you will be charged a late fee (even if it's only 1 day). Just because you paid your bill before the due date or more than the minimum, it doesn't mean you will have those funds available the next day, especially if you paid by check. Debit cards work like that; most credit cards don't, until you have made a few payments using that same checking account and have build a history of your checks clearing.
All credit card companies give you a website to manage your account for a reason. It is your responsibility to monitor your account for payment dues date, available credit, current charges, membership fees that are due or coming up, last payment applied to your account, etc. If you have $26 available credit and your annual membership fee or another charge is $27, they will still charge the whole amount. And now, you are $1 over the limit and owe an over-the-limit fee. That's your fault, not the credit card company's. Don't try to live off your new credit card; you will fail. Pay the account in full every month before the due date.

I opened my Credit One Bank account in 2006. I paid on it faithfully every month. I lost my mortgage career in August of 2007 and had to live on credit until I found work. My limit on my Credit One Bank card was $1,050. As I approached the spending limit, the constant fees and interest charges pushed me over my $1,050 limit. The Interest rate was 23.9% APR. Credit One Bank was charging an annual fee which occurred monthly on my statement for $6.50 as well as a $23 interest charge. Once I was pushed over my spending limit by Credit One Bank's fees, more fees began to incur. There was a $29 over the limit fee. Because my payments were not bringing me under the spending limit, they charged a $29 late fee for every month the account was not brought under the spending limit. My minimum payment began to grow every month.
Once I was over the limit, Credit One Bank revoked my ability to pay them online. I was forced to call my payment in monthly. For making a payment over the phone, Credit One Bank would charge a payment fee of $7.95. My account was incurring the listed fees monthly: $29 over the limit fee; $29 late fee; $23 interest charge, being called a cash advance; $7.95 credit card fee to pay the bill; $6.50 annual fee deducted monthly; $95.45 total (monthly incurring fees and charges). I tried desperately to work with Credit One Bank and regularly paid at least $50-$90 per month but the debt wouldn't reduce unless I brought the balance below the spending limit which was now requiring a $400 payment.
My debt kept growing because of the constantly recurring fees. Several failed attempts to get resolved over the phone were unsuccessful. They wouldn't allow me to speak to upper management and would often hang up on me or put me on hold for up to an hour. I finally stopped paying Credit One Bank and am now facing a judgement from Razor Capital, LLC for $2,133.12. I do not dispute that I owe Capital One Bank $1,050 and I would like to settle for the amount that I owe. The fees incurred, I feel, were predatory. I have several other credit cards in good standing or paid off. Those banks are fair in their lending practices as opposed to Credit One Bank's outlandish fees and poor customer service. Thank you.

So, I receive a Credit One application in the mail and called the 800 number. The rep ask for the pre-authorization code and I gave it to him. Rep asked for my name, Social Security card number and address (nothing more). Rep says, "You are approved and will receive your card in approximately three weeks." Something about what I described above did not sit well with me so since I work at a TV station where I live and we have a fabulous consumer reporter, I ran the conversation. I explained above by our consumer reporter. Here is what our consumer reported asked and told me: My consumer reporter asked if Credit One asked for any income information/verification (answer no). My consumer reporter asked if Credit One asked for employment information (answer no). My consumer reporter asked if Credit One asked about out stand debts such as alimony, child support some that is not a usual expense such as a mortgage or car payment as example.
Half way through the questions, my co-worker asked and he said it is a scam. Companies like Credit One do a person's credit more harm than good unless you give in to their bully tactics so cancel the card. My co-worker further advised that under Federal law they have to cancel the card upon my request. So here is what happened: Knowing the weekend people are not as seasoned as regular weekday staff, I called about an hour ago with my phones recorder rolling to record everything syllable said.
Gosh, ** call number one, the rep hung up on me but call number two using an internal number I pulled from the system at work put me right through to a rep asap and he was as kind as could be. The rep asked me for the information they originally asked for to process the card. I said please cancel the card I do not want it, do not need it. He asked why. I said that is my business, just please cancel the card. I was disappointed I thought I was going to be in for some fireworks so I could blog the audio on my work blog page and make consumers aware but that did not happen. He canceled the card, end of conversation.
There are two reasons I am writing this post in this thread: 1. What they did not ask me did not make sense so I checked it with one of my reporters; 2. Had they not flip flopped and not asked certain questions, I never would have had a reason to Google them which is what lead me to this thread. Thanks for the heads up guys. The caller (eventually) gave me a toll-free number. I (eventually) worked my way up to someone identified as a supervisor, but all I was able to get was that he would stop the calls. I believe that if these "Credit One" people are not complicit in the apparent fraud, they would want to cooperate in tracking down the perpetrator. This is not the case. In fact, when I asked for an address, all I was given was a P.O. Box. I think most banks have actual physical locations.
The only way that Chester's name is legitimately associated with my phone number is through his veterinarian. The vet knows that he was a cat and that he's dead. I want to pursue this, since I feel that I am vulnerable to other fraud and don't want my credit ruined. This is very frightening to me, and I want to be able to protect myself.

They (AG) will look into this. If enough people do this, Credit One will clean up their act. Credit One could be forced to clean up the negative marks on your credit report. Report them to the BBB too. I'm just three weeks away from applying for a house and Credit One has placed a late payment on my account which will make it impossible to get an FHA loan. I couldn't get into my account online and couldn't get a live person to help me for days. They said their computer was down. They promised no late fee would show up on my account. Well, it's not on the statement part but it's there hidden on another page.

I have had charges on my account. I called to inform them about the charges. Some of the charges include Facebook account, website account, and other changes that I did not charge. The first person I spoke with was very rude and she kept stating that I cannot do anything about it. I called again and I spoke with a different person. I told him that I would like to close my account. He suggested that I change my account number and he will have a new card sent to me and will hold all charges and dispute them. Problem solved, right? Sounds too good to be true, though—and it was! I just received a letter informing me that after all the investigation, they found that I have authorized all the charges; therefore, I am responsible for the charges. This is about $400.00 worth of unauthorized charges. I went online and read all the complaints and found out I am not the only one who is being taken for a ride by this company. Questions: What are we going to do about this? And what can we do about this? This is very sad!

I applied for a credit card as my husband had been getting preapproval notices from Credit One Bank and was approved for a credit card. Originally, I was told that I was preapproved. However, I get a letter stating that they need a copy of my social security card in order to process my application.
I called and spoke to a woman who told me that they did need a copy of my social security card. I told her that I was not going to provide this as I didn't want it to end up in the wrong hands, I didn't want it to be used for the wrong reasons and I've never ever had to provide a copy of my social security card to any company that I got a credit card from. I also told her that it seemed strange that I would have to provide this information to them. I asked to speak to a supervisor or to their fraud department. She would not do this and they would go ahead and cancel my application since I was unwilling to provide a copy of my social security card.
I don't understand why a copy of my social security card would be needed. My husband didn't have to provide this information to them. I'm 50 years old, I own a house with my husband, I have several loans out, I have had credit cards since I was aged 18 and I've been working since I was 12 years old. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this type of situation occur.

I opened a line of credit with Credit One Bank in November. My first payment was paid on their website on time. They never posted my payment and hit me with a late fee. On January, I mailed my payment eight days before the due date. They conveniently posted my payment the day after it was due and again, late fee. On February, I mailed my payment 12 days in advance, including late fees and again, it was posted the day after my due date!
Now, it is March and the check for full payment including late fees was mailed the day I received their bill on March 9. It is now March 25th and the check has not been cashed! So, as you can imagine, another late fee was charged to me! When you call on the phone, there are no other options to pay! The outsourced Indian representatives must be trained to hang up when they don't know how to respond. I will be filing complaints to those who will listen! Credit One is a complete scam! At first, I thought these were sales calls or robo-calls or something. But after looking it up, it would appear this is a collections thing, which is odd considering I have never had an account with them! I cannot understand how they even would have obtained my phone number. I can understand collections calls or the like for those who are customers of their company. My check not posted yet. I get that Credit One is a repairing company but this is completely ridiculous. That payment should not be late. And who knows how many fee's I will be assessed now that my payment is late. Calling this company to find out why they requested a check from my bank, they state they wouldn't do that. **! I spent over 2 hours on the phone with them.
First person hangs up on me. So I then request to speak to a manager who tells me the corporate office will contact me the next day. And of course, no call from the corporate office. My check still is not cashed and all they kept saying over and over to me is I can make a payment now. I already made a payment, why would I make another? This is the worst company I have ever dealt with but I continued to deal with them because I was trying to repair my credit. Now they probably have destroyed it. I would cancel out and go with another credit card company but I am not sure I could get the same amount I have with another card. At least not yet. So I am utterly displeased. They used to sucker me with fees for making online payments prior to my using my online banking. They raise prices/rates with no notification whatsoever and all they say when you ask about it is they are a repairing credit card company and are entitled to. I hope you can help me figure out what is really going on with my account. I made a payment in December from my Chase saving account for $25. I've made payments from this account before and I made my January payment for $75 using my US Bank checking account. I went online to see balance only to find out a block has been placed on my account because they can't "verify" my payments. I have no idea what that means. I faxed (twice) and mailed both of my bank statements and letter from the manager from US Bank stating this was my account and the payment came from my account. Now, I'm getting the run around on why they won't remove this block. They keep saying call back next week, call back in 5-7 days. I told them that it would have been a better procedure to notify the customer before you place a hold especially since I've done nothing wrong. Suppose I was checking into a hotel or needed a rental car thinking everything was ok.
This verification of payments should have been removed the first time I faxed my bank statements showing where the monies were debited from. Could you please find out what the hell is going on? Once you do I want to close this account and pay it off as I do not trust this company with this shady practice. Also, I keep getting different stories and I even spoke to a manager last Saturday, January 28 and he said the block will be removed on February 4th. I called to check and not only is it not removed, now no one has my information. I finally received a letter stating if I don't comply with sending the documentation (which I have 3 times) they will close my account and report me to the credit bureaus. For what? Making a payment from different accounts and the money has been debited? Can someone please help me find out what "verify" payments mean? Any help would be appreciated.
I paid my other credit card same way, no problem. I work two jobs and my part time pay is deposited in one account and my main income is deposited in another, so it all depends which account I would like to pay from which I thought I had that right. I'm just upset that no prior notification was given. They should have sent a letter saying if we don't receive the documentation by such and such a date, then we will suspend card and not the other way around especially since I did nothing wrong and I'm being made to feel like a criminal.
Desired resolution: no settlement required but this is a shady practice of not informing a customer before an account is suspended. All of the call center reps are reading from a script. I mean no deviation from reading from their piece of paper with trying to help you. If this was on the up and up, they would have seen my two faxes in addition to what I mailed which should all have been uploaded to an image server for viewing by a call center rep and that rep would have been able to see that my accounts are in my name and the payments came from my account.

I knew this would charge me a late fee, which I was OK with and then scheduled a payment for 3 times my normal due for the next payment in my BillPay.
Well, they called me and I explained to them that I could not afford the full payment for the previous bill, but the next payment was for x amount of dollars and it would get to them before the next due date. This was completely unacceptable. He literally demanded payment over the phone by debit card and asked me, and I quote, "How much money do you make? What date do you get paid? Do you get paid weekly or bi-weekly? Why can't you pay it right now? Why didn't you pay the full amount last month? Do you have any friends or relatives that can loan you the money? How much money is in your bank account?".
It was completely ridiculous that I was treated that way. I explained to him over and over that I was sending in a payment on x day from my BillPay of x dollars and that he wasn't getting it today as it affects my budget system and that he would get it before the due date, but he continued to say he needed payment right then. My financial situation had improved dramatically in 2011, so I decided to start trying to rebuild my credit. I got a credit card with Credit One Bank, paid for monthly "credit protection insurance" to cover costs, should I be laid off from my job. A few months after I was approved for a credit card, I was subsequently laid off from my job. They denied my credit protection insurance, and refused to work with me, regarding a payment arrangement. Before I was laid off from my job, I was making all the payments on time. When I say they denied the credit protection insurance, I mean exactly that I signed up for it, was charged for it monthly, and when the time came that I actually needed it, they denied it out of hand.
I tried to make a payment arrangement, but because I was laid, off they denied that out of hand. After denying my "credit protection" insurance, and refusing to work with me on a payment arrangement, I was still unemployed, so there was not much I could do. They began calling me more than 10 times a day (including 2-3 calls before 9 AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings). I have finally found new employment, and I am in a situation again to begin making payments, however in the meantime, $255.00 of penalty fees have accrued on my account (which I see as ridiculous and excessive). Actually, the $255.00 is outdated. The penalties, as of now, exceed the original debt. I am ending up owing more in fees and penalties, than the original debt!
Being laid off from my job was out of my hands. I reacted as responsibly as could be expected, and Credit One Bank refused every attempt I made to rectify the situation. Credit One Bank has effectively manipulated my bad fortune, to double their profit (in the process violating consumer protection laws regarding harassment)! I feel as though the public should be warned about this company, and ask that your organization make their practices known, so others do not go through what I've gone through. I believe there can be no question that the amount and frequency of the calls they made, constitute a violation to both the Federal and State respective Fair Debt Collection Practices Law.

At this point I decided I wasn't going to activate the Credit One Bank credit card anymore and was just going to let the account close. Well, low and behold, I checked the mail last night and received my first bill from Credit One Bank stating I owed $75 for the annual fee due 2/1/2012 on a card I never activated. Needless to say, I was pissed. Can banks do this by law?
Anyways, I called them this morning. Every number I kept calling kept directing me to activate my card and I wasn't about to do that. I finally called the number under Collections on their Contact Us page online. I was able to bypass them trying to activate my card and also was able to speak to a representative named John. Over about a 3-4 minute conversation, I had stated I applied for this card, decided I no longer wanted it, didn't activate it, so now I would like to cancel it.
The rep on the phone asked me if I was sure I wanted to cancel and I said yes and he said my balance would be credited and the account would be closed. Also stated it would take up to 21 days for this to take affect. I received another notice of a balance and was told there was a remaining $11.00. I was also told if I wanted to pay my bill immediately, there was a $10.00 express payment fee. Even though I thought this was wrong, I paid $21.00 on July 20 to finalize and pay off this account. This account has never been closed, and I am at wit's end on what to do to get it closed.

I called on September 6 at 10:00am and was told the same story that my account would be closed and a letter would be sent. On September 27, I talked to a Matthew who said he was a supervisor but could not give me a last name according to policy, and he would personally get a letter out to me. No letters ever arrived. I did ignore my e-mail for a time, thinking it hadn't caught up yet with the resolution. More e-mails came, and I called at 10:04am on January 12, demanding that I talk to a supervisor. I was disconnected after waiting on the line until 10:25am.
At 3:30 pm, I called back when I finished work and talked to Stanley, again no last name allowed, a supervisor who assured me he would personally close this account and send me a letter saying as much.
Today, it is January 17, 2012, and my balance is $0.01. I expect more fees and charges to be added on as they have, since I closed this account on and on and on.
What does a person need to do to close an account with you? I don't know what else to do. As of today, I am writing TV stations, the Better Business Bureau, and a lawyer. If this hurts my credit in any way I will take legal action. Saying I want prompt attention to this matter is long past. This is so incredibly ridiculous that I shudder to think how you hold down the people with bad credit (this is who your target audience is) and make them prisoner to your card and fees. Ten dollar fee for making a prompt payment? No balance transfers? No closing of accounts no matter what is done?

Credit One Bank, a real joke, the actual bank does not exist, only a small office in Las Vegas. The call centers are in India and in the Philippines. No US call center. They are considered a predatory lender. This is not the company to deal with. File complaints with the BBB in southern Nevada and at the Federal Trade Commission.
They prey intentionally on those consumers with low credit scores. If you're looking to improve your credit with a legit card and a real bank consider these options: A Orchard Bank Card at Orchardbank.com or Household Bank at househodbank.com both of these can pre-qualify you without hurting your credit score. Also try Capitalone at Capitalone.com, they also will let you pre-quailfy without hurting your score. If you cant get qualified with one of those cards, try a secured card through one of the big banks. They all offer them and the fees are comparable to any real card. Bank of America, US Bank, Citibank, USAA, Capitalone, and HSBC all offer secured cards at really good fees that can help you establish better credit.
If you have problems, which most of you will with Credit One, close your account both by phone and in writing. Closing your account will not hurt your credit score unless you don't pay them. If you're late or have unsettled disputes, your probably going to end up with damaged credit. However, there are ways as described earlier to protect yourself. Also, if damaged credit occurs, you can also dispute information through the three leading credit agencies, transunion, eqifax, and experian. You're entitled to one free credit report with each agency once a year. You can file disputes for free. Hope this info helps everyone.

Since I filed bankruptcy 3 years ago, I thought it would be a great way to build my credit! If I would have read this website before, I would not have done it. So if you are thinking of getting a credit card, don't do it! I applied and was approved for $400. 4 weeks later I received my card and proceeded to activate it. I then got a bill for $88 for fees. I didn’t know until I made some charges on the account, which made me liable for the fee charge! You call the customer service line in Las Vegas and get some idiot in India that has no idea what is going on because they don't speak English!
They call all hours of the day, leave no messages and they even called me on Christmas. I paid my bill and they still call and still no English! I am paying off this card and telling then to go ** themselves. Complete waste of money and not worth the credit rebuilding! This resulted to fees. Horrible customer service that do not speak English! They call 18-25 times a day or night. Rip off! Is this an Obama credit card?

The Credit One logo is similar to the Capital One logo. I applied for a credit card thinking it was Capital One (my error). I received an e-mail saying the card is on it's way at which time I realized it was Credit One. The card arrived and it says you have to call the number within 14 days to activate or the account will close. Then I received notification from ScoreSense that they were reporting to the credit report companies. Next I received a bill for $81. Remember, I applied but never opened an account with them. Yesterday I received an e-mail reminder telling me to call and activate, which I am not going to do. I have reported them to the BBB of Southern Nevada. The BBB closed the complaint within 24 hours (I suspect that is because Credit One is a member).
So I filed another complaint telling the BBB to do their job and mediate. I have written 2 letters to Credit One telling them I did not open an account and to reverse all the damage they are potentially doing. I have written the Attorney General of Nevada to look into Credit One's practice. And now I am suggesting to all others who run into this company to be careful and if they do anything fishy be sure to jump onto them, don't let them ruin your credit or open an account without your consent.
The situation is still in the works. I am waiting for the second BBB response to see if they are going to mediate. I am waiting on a response from the Attorney General. I will be writing up the disputes with the credit reporting companies today. I suspect Credit One will reverse all the actions they have taken in order to prevent further action, but we still have 25 days to find that out.

These people have been ripping me off and everyone else for too long. What can I do? I’m making payments on time and it doesn't matter.

A week later, I got a letter in the mail from them telling me that my payment couldn't go through and threatened me that if that happened again, they would cancel my account. So I went back online and paid again, this time using my bank account debit card. A week later, that came back bad too. I called them and they told me that when they tried to take the money out of my account, it told them that my bank account did not exist. They said they would need a bank validation letter from my bank in order to validate my account.
So I called my bank and went to the local office and asked them to send a validation letter to them and they did. My bank confirmed at that time that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my bank account and even confirmed that Credit One never even attempted to take the money from my account. This place is nothing more than a scam. They try everything possible to make your payments late or tag on fees for this or that. Credit One Bank has pulled another one of their trick scams from their pockets. I entered the banking information in their website by having my wife read me the account info (Route/Acct. #'s). Then we verified the information after we entered it twice for verification. Well, my payment submitted and one week later it was returned. I was getting called Sunday morning at 7:30am by automated notification of the returned payment. I called their foreign customer service and they immediately asked to verify my bank account number for the returned payment. I began reading the number to them when suddenly the representative cut me off and said my that I entered my account number incorrectly and that was the reason for the returned payment. I told them that was incorrect because my wife and I both verified the number and we entered it twice for verification.
They said that's what I typed on the computer. I asked them to waive one of the two fees for both returned payments of $25 fees and they told me yes, at first. Then they put me on hold to speak to the supervisor, Peggy most likely, and returned saying they couldn't do that because it had not posted on my account. I said it shows a posting date already and it's already charged and I have a reference # for it. The studdering representative then told me to call back and hung up. Scam. Scam. Scam.
