I have had this Credit One card for a year and sent a late payment. They received their $25 payment and cashed the check but have tortured me with 30 calls a day. Trying to reach their customer service dept is a joke. Mailboxes are full. There is no manager to speak with. I couldn't even find out why they were continuing to call. For the late fee? Very unprofessional. This is a hodge-podge organization. They should not be in business. I am really sorry I ever took the chance with this card. I am sending a complaint to the Better Business Bureau about them in addition to this review. I would hope that people thinking about getting this credit card will think again. You will be sorry!

I had a Credit One Bank card since 2007. In 2008, I called the 1-800 number to ask for the paperwork for my insurance since I would be off work all of 2009 for cancer treatment. But they said I could not use my insurance nor could I file bankruptcy which I never have. I could not get anywhere with them so I filed a complaint with the AG office in Las Vegas, and they refused to help. I contacted the Fed Reserve number for complaints (they sent me to help with my bank) who in turn sent me to the OCC. They got my account closed and the $250 credit/debit closed and paid off with my insurance, or so I thought.
About six months later, Credit One Bank sold my closed account to a collection company. So, I sent them the letter I got from OCC showing it's closed. Then Credit One sold it again so I keep sending off letters after letters. So far, it's been sold to seven collections agency since 2010. I've been fighting this since 2009 and it has cost me a home loan. I have copies of all letters from collections, AG office, OCC and complaint to FTC. I'm trying to file a lawsuit but can't find an attorney I can afford since I'm handicapped and can't work. I don't make a lot on SSDI. I need some help.

What a scam! When I called to cancel the card, I was informed that I would still be charged the monthly fee till the balance was paid off, even though the account has been cancelled, plus when I paid off the card, I got a statement for $2.95 interest charged on a zero balance. How is that possible? Well, I sent them a check for $2.99. I'll see what happens with that.

Credit One Bank - I got this card after paying a $75 annual fee and $7 to put a lab on the front of the card. I used the card 2 times for small purchases. When I got my bill, there were charges of interest on the bill. I phoned the company and was told that interest was charged from the time of purchase; there is no grace period of 25 days like other credit cards. I immediately tore the card up and canceled the card.
I pay all my cards off each and every month and wanted another card in case of emergencies. I had the emergency but had no idea that interest was going to be charged on the card from the date of purchase or I would have used another card. I paid $12.01 on charges of $376.58. This company is totally whacked charging 24% interest on charges and then charging interest on purchases from the time of purchase. I paid my account online and haven't missed this bank or used their card! What a rip-off and I didn't even know this was their way of doing business.

I have experienced credit card fraud since July 22, 2012 and called numerous times with no follow up. I have called the fraud department and left my account number, phone number and email address. Still no response. They actually sent a physical credit card to an unauthorized user two times after mentioning I had credit card fraud. I would be so delighted to clear up the remaining $305 on my account but after spending 20 minutes on the phone today with customer service, I was given the same number to call. I absolutely feel the BBB or FTC should address this so other consumers don't experience this.

As a victim of Hurricane Sandy, who was evacuated from their home and was without power for several weeks, I am furious with Credit One Visa. I had a payment due during the week of Sandy and for obvious reasons, could not complete the transaction. I've lost my home, my job and to be penalized for an act of God, I've lost my faith in this company. I'll be transferring my balance to a different card and completing the payments there. In addition, I will inform other victims of Sandy, who are my friends and family, of the treatment I received from this company.

Credit One Bank is trying to appear as the respectable bank, Capital One. They then run a scam and add unwarranted charges to your account in the hopes that you would not notice, or that you would wait on hold with a center in the Pacific, then hang up and just pay the fees. It chewed up more in phone minutes than the fee in question. Then, they refused to answer my questions or allow me to elevate my complaint. Steer clear of these guys.

Two weeks ago, I got the Credit One credit preapproved mail. In the mail, it says that the credit line is up to $1500 and with no annual fee, but when I got the card, its credit line is only $300, which is completely useless, and with a $75 annual fee. So, I called in to cancel my card and asked them why what I got was totally different from the preapproved mail. They didn't answer and what they keep telling me is that this card can help to build up your credit, etc. I don't want to hear that; all I want to know is why what I got is totally different from the preapproved mail. So, I turned my voice up to let her hear me and stop saying those ** things. And what she did to me was talk over me and hang up the phone after that. Then I called back again. It was the other guy. She was okay and I canceled my card.

I should have been more thorough upon signing up for this card. The logo looks exactly like Capital One's. I signed up trusting it was Capital One since I have 2 of their cards. Well, it isn't. They charged me with a $75 annual fee, $20 authorized user fee and a $7 premium design fee; in which they just sent me a black card that is not premium. Now I am starting off with a $100 balance for my mistake of trusting it was a Capital One card and not a Credit One card. Even their reverse Nike swoosh mark is exactly like Capital One's. It's a tough lesson on reading the fine print.

I told her that it is not my ISP and I am a computer programmer, that it is more likely something with Credit One Bank's website possibly not being compatible with Windows 8. She started to become rude trying to over talk me and then the ** hung up on me. I don't take that ** lightly, especially being a customer. You need to reprimand that **. FYI, I received a pre-approved application for the Visa Credit Card. On September 25, 2012, I went on line and was approved pending final verification of my information. I received a confirmation number. On October 4, 2012, I received another letter stating, "In order for us to continue processing your application, the following documentation is required: copy of your driver’s license or state identification card (no!), copy of your Social Security Card (My response is absolutely not! Who does that?), current W-2 form, current wage statement or a copy of your current utility bill." With identify theft running rampant, who in their right mind will send a copy of their driver's license and Social Security card in the mail to recipients unknown? My additional response to Credit One was to cancel the application and remove my name from any future mailings.

I have had the card two months. I made two charges, one for gas and one for a political contribution for a total less than $50. Yet, the first charges were made by Ali-Baba, an international wholesale house, for about $200. I saw it on the first statement, along with a charge to a sex line number (they credited that immediately). They cancelled the card and charged me $25 for a new one, in addition to $75 for opening the account. They received two timely payments, over the minimum required, and on time. They sent a letter saying they were investigating the fraudulent claims.
Today they used ACH to deduct over $400 from my bank account, which information they could only have gotten by looking at the checks, since bank and account numbers are not on the application form. So, so far they have charged me nearly $800 incorrectly for a card with a maximum limit of $500, and they received no authorization to charge via ACH. I have sent them only checks and never authorized any ACH transfer. I am on SS. This is worse than scandalous. It borders on deceit.

I asked that my $7.61 payment be taken out of my checking account. To my surprise, they took out $761. I called Credit One immediately, good luck in getting someone to understand you. They told me they would have to send me a refund for the difference and it could take up to two weeks to receive. I said, "Can't you just let me withdraw it from my bank?" They said, "Yes at $200 per day, but 25% finance fee." I have bills to pay that cannot be put on a credit card. I have been with them for over 7 years. I cannot wait until I receive my check in the mail. It's time to say goodbye to Credit One Bank forever.

They charge you an undisclosed $1.00 fee every month, whether or not you use the card. This is on top of the $75 first year annual fee and the $99 annual fee for each of the following years. This $1.00 may seem insignificant; after all it's only $1.00, right? Wrong. If you forget to pay the $1.00, they will charge you a late fee of $25. This company is a total scam. Also, if anyone is interested in putting together a class action lawsuit, please contact me. My email is **. I think we should sue them for infringing on Capital One's brand. The only reason why I even signed up for this card was because I thought it was Capital One. They basically copied their logo. I want my $75 back and I think we all deserve even more for the headaches we endured.

The reason we have a Credit One card in the first place is because we're broke.

I posted a payment on August 1 and it won't post until August 8. That is unacceptable. I saw nothing indicating this when I applied for the card. My wife had an emergency and I was sure she could use the card considering I made a payment 6 days prior, but the card was declined because the payment had not posted. 5-7 days to post is unheard of. If you want it posted any sooner, there is a $9.95 fee. Go with another company. After this experience, I will cancel this card immediately.

I received a "pre-approved" application in the mail as a preferred customer. Under the "*" space for phone numbers was the statement: "I authorize Credit One bank or its agents to contact me at any phone number I provide at any time (including cellular/wireless telephone services), via a live operator, auto-dialer or prerecorded message." That got my attention. I then clicked on the URL to accept your card. It was a bogus address. Then I read the consumer reviews. If you don't have this card yet, don't apply for it. Don't take my word. Read the reviews. They are all basically the same going back to 2009.

I was issued a credit card by Credit One Bank a few years ago with the limit of $300. Last year I made a payment using a business checking account for a minimum payment and the check was returned for "unable to locate account". Now this was not the first time using that account; however, that was the second time it came back from them "unable to locate account". By doing that, I was slapped with late fees and a returned check fee. Meanwhile, there was absolutely no activity on the bank account. I contacted the Credit One bank regarding this, because it's only suddenly that they were unable to locate the account. Then I learned that they had closed my account. That caught me off guard. I asked why, the representative says, "because we can." I then asked that a final bill be sent by mail. Months later, in July of 2012, I received a bill from a bill collector for $733 that I must pay by August 13th. I am not denying that I owe Credit One Bank money but $733? I have no idea where this amount is coming from, especially the fact that my account was closed. I requested a final bill and they never sent me anything.

There are entries in my statement that do not coincide with the mistake in their monetary favor. I went to their website for a direct customer service number. None is listed, and each number that was listed was tried and I just got the same old message. I'm 79 years old and probably just won't pay until they contact me. At my age, who cares about credit score/rating. I would not recommend this outfit in as much as there is no listed number for direct customer contact.

Mind you, it's freaking 8:27AM. How can I cancel the credit? The funny thing was when I called them and answered the question on the phone, they were talking about I already used $7. I don't even know how. So if anybody out knows how can I cancel the application or card, please tell me. Thank you and have a nice day.

I called them back promptly to cancel my account after seeing the annual fee. I called back no longer than 5 minutes after accepting the account. They said ok and for me to call back after 36 hours to make sure it had been closed. It hadn't. I told the gentleman on the phone what my problem was and that it was supposed to be closed. He gave me the runaround. I asked to speak to his supervisor. First, he said the supervisor was busy. I told him I didn't care. I wanted to speak to his supervisor or his supervisor's supervisor. He finally agreed. He put me on hold for about 5 minutes. Then, he came back on and told me he had told his supervisor about my problem. He said my account was now closed. He told me to call back again, this time, in three weeks to make sure my account had been closed. I yelled at him. And promptly, I told him if I got anything at all from Credit One Bank.
I was going to report them. I haven't received a credit card. But I have received a bill yesterday with a $75.00 annual fee charged on it. Whom do I report them to and get the $75.00 fee removed? I'm on medication for panic attacks. I have ran out of my medication due to the stress from this crap. And I have to wait until August to get a refill. I don't appreciate this stunt of theirs at all.

I just wanted a statement from this company stating the date that I paid them off. Unfortunately, I contacted them on a Saturday and was told that the information would be sent to me on a Monday. Monday, I received nothing from Credit One Bank and called them back. They informed me that it would take 2 business days from my initial call and that I should have the information on a Tuesday. I called back on Tuesday and was then told that I would not have the information that I requested until Wednesday. I then requested to speak to a supervisor and was told that a supervisor would contact me in about 5 to 6 business days. Anyone out there who wants a credit card, do not get one with Credit One Bank. They will harass you over a very small payment and the customers service sucks. How can the Better Business Bureau rate them so high? Perhaps a payoff.

I received an application in the mail for the Credit One Bank card. I thought that they were associated with Capital One, so I filled out the application and mailed it in. I needed to pay off my child's braces, and I wanted to make smaller monthly payments rather than the $250 monthly payments that I was making to the orthodontist. When I got the card in the mail, I immediately realized that this was a mistake to have applied for this card, after reading their terms. I cut the card up and threw it away. The following month, I was billed from Credit One Bank for $25, then billed again last month for $25, even though I had not activated the card, and cut it up and threw it away! I sent in the payments, thinking that I was paying my Capital One bill (a big mistake, but Credit One Bank looks very much like Capital One, which is another one of their clever deceptions).
I started thinking that this bill was odd, so I called their 1-800 number, and I got an automated voice prompt telling me to activate my card. I tried to get around it because I did not want to activate the card, but I was not able to navigate around the activation prompt. You literally cannot talk to an agent until you activate the card, so this was coercion. I had to call back in order to talk to an agent. I told the agent that I was billed for an annual fee even though I had not wanted the card, and had cut it up and disposed of it, and had not activated it until forced to do so by their system setup. The agent acted unconcerned and said, "Well, you sent in the application, didn't you?" I said yes, but simply sending in an application should not mean that you accept their terms. So even though I decided not to accept their terms and conditions, they immediately billed me $75 even though I did not activate their card.
I have now read all of the online complaints about this company and have learned that they also do many other unscrupulous things, the worse being that you can't seem to cancel this card. So you are more or less stuck with paying these extortionists their excessive fees. I am going to attempt to cancel the card, but I have read other complaints from others who tried to cancel the card, and upon cancelling, find additional charges added to their accounts, so they can keep you or, should I say, force you to stay enslaved to their scam. I hope that legal action will be taken against them, and I will support any such legal action. What they are doing has to be illegal, and they need to be shut down.

I get paid on the 1st of every month. My payment is due on the 28th. I called the first bill I ever got and asked to have the date changed. They said they could not. Last month, I totally forgot and instead of paying on the 28th, I paid on the 29th. They charged me $25.00 for a late fee. I was aggravated, but realized it was my fault. I called and asked again if they could change the date and complained about the late fee. The lady told me she could not change the date, but could waive the late fee this one time. I paid the balance off except the $25 and went on my way. I was just not going to use it anymore. This month rolls around and how much do i owe? $50.00 freaking dollars. I did not even look at that statement because I knew I had paid it off and was about to cancel it anyway. I had just needed it while I was in the process of buying a house.
Now they say they can't do anything. Well he did say he would take one charge off. I said no freaking way. He said it was not notated that it was supposed to be removed. I said, "How in the heck am I supposed to control that?" She did not do her job. I told him to listen to the recorded phone conversation. He said he would get back to me in 6 days. Unbeknownst to me, it is the same number that you use to activate the card. I called an hour later to cancel the card. I voided the card and sent it back with a cancellation letter certified mail. I called them back after receiving a credit card statement for $25 due of the $75 annual membership fee. The statement is dated 6/21/2012. Okay, I was approved, good so far. I received the bill prior to the card. This happens and is normal. I called the same night to pay the total balance, used my debit card to expedite payment so when I receive my card, there will be a zero balance.
I received the card a week later (2 weeks after the card is associated w/ my file). I sat down last night and reviewed my online banking statement as I do twice a month. There, in black and white is my authorized payment to Credit One, but, just after that is an unauthorized deduction of $100 even! Okay, so I assume it's human error or something and I called Credit One for my first communication. Not good. They say they did not take 2 drafts. Um, yes you did, and here's the proof. The proof is not acceptable via phone, Okay, where can I fax it, because I should have a $100 credit now and I want this resolved asap. There is nothing they can do. They want the paper statement from my bank faxed to a standard customer service fax # in which they will start an investigation in 10-14 business days.
Um, no. This is unacceptable, to tell me that you made an error, and you will not look into it within 48 hours. I will not wait a month before seeing my money, and if this is how they treat their customers, let's cancel the card immediately and I will contact my bank (USAA) and advise them the $100 was unauthorized. Credit One then tried telling me maybe someone in my house that I have authorized on the card called to authorize that. Now you're just reaching. You are in my file, and can see there is no one authorized. And no, there is no one else in my home, so let's move this up to a manager.
The manager says the same thing, points the finger at me for the 2nd debit, but says there is no debit. I asked to speak with the manager's manager because this is insane, and I do not have the tolerance to deal with stupidity. I'm not asking for anything unreasonable, I don't want a check cut back, I want them to acknowledge the extra debit from my account and credit my card an extra $100 (which would mean no payments for a long time seeing my balance is 0). And I want resolution within 48 hours, not a lot to ask. The manager tried to get his mgr. on the horn, but was not able to, so he said he would speak to his boss about it and call me back within 30 mins. to 1 hr. They did, and they are investigating the issue and will have a resolution within 48 hours.
I'm not happy that I had to go so deep into the Customer Service chain. I'm not that person, but, I am relatively satisfied that they are investigating. I will, of course, do my part in making sure they have all the PPW needed to see the extra debit from my bank acct. All in all - very bad experience. Oh, that first bill wasn't due till July, the one that I paid early.

Anyways, I got my card, paid the fee and pay my payment through the website with my banking information, always have. I don't wait till my payment is almost due to pay it. I pay as soon as it tells me my due date. I have never had to call because I have had 0 problems with them, so I cannot say much to their customer service, never been told I am late or been called.
One minor complaint I may say I have is they do give you a free credit score every month. It does not seem to be a true one because it never matches the numbers on the 3 credit reporting companies. Overall, they are a good company. I would recommend them to someone who had bad credit and needs a second chance.

Well, I don't have a debit CC at the moment; it's on order at the current time and she kept harassing me to pay when I did pay on 5/18/12. I paid ten days earlier than my due date which was 5/28/12 and for some reason they returned my money.
How is this my problem? And if there was a problem, why address it a month later? Let me know about the issue as it happened or in a reasonable time frame. No, I get harassed at my job for 20 minutes on the phone with these people when it is not my fault why they returned or cancelled my early payment for May. However, I kept telling them my current bill says I owe $75 on June 28, 2012, which I intend to pay then.
I am not in collections, so I don't see the point of this harassment. This will be forwarded to their human resources department. I feel they were out of line and out of place to harass me while I'm at work. I kept telling them I am at work and my bill says my payment is not due until June 28th.

I ran into this site and wanted to give my two cents about Credit One. This will be a fair review by a real card user. To date, I have used this card for 3 months. What people are saying about the customer support is very true. They are very mean and rude. If you make it to a senior supervisor, you will get someone a bit more professional. The problem with me having to do this is the questions I posed were not about a balance or anything. Just average questions about the account in general. It should have been a couple of smooth calls. This was not the case. For this, they lose one star.
Another thing of concern to me is the fact that payments are held for 10 days. This is the free, pay-from-your-checking account method. I do appreciate that opportunity, but for $9.99, they will expedite the payment and process the funds within 48 hours. So for them to say that they need to protect themselves by waiting for the payment to clear from my checking account is a lie because for an extra 10 bucks, they don't care if it clears first? There is no way for the money to travel faster because of 10 more dollars. So I got a hold of a supervisor and she did mention something about payments under $100 will clear quicker. We will see if this is the case.
She did contact my bank by three-way phone call to confirm the payment cleared, which the bank said it cleared the bank 3 days before (this was day 5). So it is evident that they are using the funds for a week or so before posting it to accounts. This was something that was not disclosed before getting the card. I asked a ton of questions and was told paying by checking account was free, but never told a 10-day wait. I have a Capital One cc and an Orchard (now owned by Capital One) cc. I pay the same way and if the payment was made by 5PM central, the funds show on my card the next business day. For this, they lose a star.
So now the up side of their card. I have yet to receive any bogus charges or harassing phone calls. No misconduct with my checking account. No online issues so far. I get free cash advances from them and my bank processes them for free. So I give them 3 stars for this.

I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to post here about Credit One Bank. Today, I received a pre-approved offer from them. It seemed somewhat off to me in some way, so I went to their so-called website and went to see what their so-called offer was. Well before I got there, the first two things they asked me was for the confirmation code and my social security number. I have a bachelors in cyber security, so I am extremely cautious about giving my SS number online. Luckily for me, I did my research and saw what everyone else wrote before I gave them any information. After doing a little more digging, I was able to find out that Credit One Bank is most definitely a scam. I fully intend to contact the Better Business Bureau and let them know of the situation. If anyone is reading this, I strongly recommend that you either don't sign up or if you already have, cancel ASAP. Good luck!

The first person who I spoke with did not know what to tell me. So, I proceeded to tell him to cancel the transaction and that I was going to use other card. The agent called then and someone in Spanish by the name of Martin ** told him not to worry, he would cancel the transaction but he refused to give him a reference number.
He told my travel agent that I would have to call in order to get the reference. Then, I called them again and spoke with a woman that did not understand what I was trying to tell her. I asked for a supervisor after going in circles for about 5 minutes with this woman. She finally got someone by the name of Karen, ID **, who also refused to cancel the transaction claiming again the agent had to be present really!
Please tell me why the banking commission allows this scam artist to do business in such way. I just hope this Credit One bank credit card doesn’t charge me for something that I requested time after time for them to cancel. What are we the tax payers paying enough taxes and fees on these so call credit cards run their scams freely and protected by the government. If nothing is being done to protect the consumer, it feels like the ones that are being protected are the scam artists.
Please, please someone do an investigation on these people from Credit One Bank. It is like they are almost trying to force the public to take their abuse. After a foreclosure, I was trying to rebuild my credit. I received this Credit One credit card offer. I was charged a high amount to open it, around $75 or close to that. After I received the card, I called to check the balance/amount available. I used the card and left about $20 on it. The limit was not very high. I received an email stating that I was over my limit. There was a $25 charge for that. This is what this company does constantly, they tell you have a certain amount available, but they don't tell you that out of that amount, they will be charging you all kinds of fees.
I am in the process of paying this off, but this is the worst credit card I have ever had. They also actually charge you to raise your credit limit. I have both a Capital One-secured MasterCard and an unsecured Credit One bank Visa. Both started with a small limit of $400.00 each. I ruined my credit a few years back (Don't ask; it's a long story). Anyway, I have had the Capital One card for about 3 years now; and the Credit One, for 16 months. I started with a SC of 522, and as of today, April 26, 20012, my SC stands at 652 solely because of those 2 cards. I still have all that other bad stuff on my credit report, but over time, creditors don't look at it as bad as when I first ruined my credit.
I now have an unsecured MasterCard from Capital One (They converted my secured account to unsecured.) with a $1,600 credit line, and my Credit One Visa has a $1000 limit. Plus, I just was approved for a Wal-Mart credit card with a $1,100 limit. If you are trying to rebuild your credit, here is some advice.
It takes time to undo what you did to your credit and nothing you do can make it faster. So, get a sub-prime card and don't use it, unless you can pay off the balance on your next statement and only use it every other month. Don't carry it with you; leave it at home. And so, you're not tempted to buy something you can't afford. If you can afford it, pay cash or don't get it! It will take 3 to 6 months to see a positive change in your credit score. Don't carry a balance on your card, because if you have a $300 limit and carry a $112 balance on it, that's a 35%+ usage of you available credit and that doesn't look good on a credit report. So keep your card below 5% (less than $15 if you have a $300 limit). If you have to use your $300 credit limit card to get by between paychecks, then you don't need a credit card.
I am living proof that sub-prime cards help people with credit problems, and it was easy too. I improved my SC 130 points in about 3 years and went from a secured card to $3,600 unsecured credit limits in the same time just by doing the thing I have listed below. Good luck.
You have a sub-prime card, because you don't qualify for a prime card. Sub-prime cards almost always start with a low credit limit, so you can build you credit score over time. You can't live off a $300.00 credit card, and you're not supposed to. You use a low credit limit card to build credit history. If you are late on your payment, you will be charged a late fee (even if it's only 1 day). Just because you paid your bill before the due date or more than the minimum, it doesn't mean you will have those funds available the next day, especially if you paid by check. Debit cards work like that; most credit cards don't, until you have made a few payments using that same checking account and have build a history of your checks clearing.
All credit card companies give you a website to manage your account for a reason. It is your responsibility to monitor your account for payment dues date, available credit, current charges, membership fees that are due or coming up, last payment applied to your account, etc. If you have $26 available credit and your annual membership fee or another charge is $27, they will still charge the whole amount. And now, you are $1 over the limit and owe an over-the-limit fee. That's your fault, not the credit card company's. Don't try to live off your new credit card; you will fail. Pay the account in full every month before the due date.

I opened my Credit One Bank account in 2006. I paid on it faithfully every month. I lost my mortgage career in August of 2007 and had to live on credit until I found work. My limit on my Credit One Bank card was $1,050. As I approached the spending limit, the constant fees and interest charges pushed me over my $1,050 limit. The Interest rate was 23.9% APR. Credit One Bank was charging an annual fee which occurred monthly on my statement for $6.50 as well as a $23 interest charge. Once I was pushed over my spending limit by Credit One Bank's fees, more fees began to incur. There was a $29 over the limit fee. Because my payments were not bringing me under the spending limit, they charged a $29 late fee for every month the account was not brought under the spending limit. My minimum payment began to grow every month.
Once I was over the limit, Credit One Bank revoked my ability to pay them online. I was forced to call my payment in monthly. For making a payment over the phone, Credit One Bank would charge a payment fee of $7.95. My account was incurring the listed fees monthly: $29 over the limit fee; $29 late fee; $23 interest charge, being called a cash advance; $7.95 credit card fee to pay the bill; $6.50 annual fee deducted monthly; $95.45 total (monthly incurring fees and charges). I tried desperately to work with Credit One Bank and regularly paid at least $50-$90 per month but the debt wouldn't reduce unless I brought the balance below the spending limit which was now requiring a $400 payment.
My debt kept growing because of the constantly recurring fees. Several failed attempts to get resolved over the phone were unsuccessful. They wouldn't allow me to speak to upper management and would often hang up on me or put me on hold for up to an hour. I finally stopped paying Credit One Bank and am now facing a judgement from Razor Capital, LLC for $2,133.12. I do not dispute that I owe Capital One Bank $1,050 and I would like to settle for the amount that I owe. The fees incurred, I feel, were predatory. I have several other credit cards in good standing or paid off. Those banks are fair in their lending practices as opposed to Credit One Bank's outlandish fees and poor customer service. Thank you.

I would like to share with you what happened to me maybe what I did will help to give people a clue and help assist in not falling victim to Credit One.
So, I receive a Credit One application in the mail and called the 800 number. The rep ask for the pre-authorization code and I gave it to him. Rep asked for my name, Social Security card number and address (nothing more). Rep says, "You are approved and will receive your card in approximately three weeks." Something about what I described above did not sit well with me so since I work at a TV station where I live and we have a fabulous consumer reporter, I ran the conversation. I explained above by our consumer reporter. Here is what our consumer reported asked and told me: My consumer reporter asked if Credit One asked for any income information/verification (answer no). My consumer reporter asked if Credit One asked for employment information (answer no). My consumer reporter asked if Credit One asked about out stand debts such as alimony, child support some that is not a usual expense such as a mortgage or car payment as example.
Half way through the questions, my co-worker asked and he said it is a scam. Companies like Credit One do a person's credit more harm than good unless you give in to their bully tactics so cancel the card. My co-worker further advised that under Federal law they have to cancel the card upon my request. So here is what happened: Knowing the weekend people are not as seasoned as regular weekday staff, I called about an hour ago with my phones recorder rolling to record everything syllable said.
Gosh, ** call number one, the rep hung up on me but call number two using an internal number I pulled from the system at work put me right through to a rep asap and he was as kind as could be. The rep asked me for the information they originally asked for to process the card. I said please cancel the card I do not want it, do not need it. He asked why. I said that is my business, just please cancel the card. I was disappointed I thought I was going to be in for some fireworks so I could blog the audio on my work blog page and make consumers aware but that did not happen. He canceled the card, end of conversation.
There are two reasons I am writing this post in this thread: 1. What they did not ask me did not make sense so I checked it with one of my reporters; 2. Had they not flip flopped and not asked certain questions, I never would have had a reason to Google them which is what lead me to this thread. Thanks for the heads up guys. Hopefully, what I have written will help someone else. I hope the red flags I listed will give anyone the heads up. These guys are not a legit card business in terms of serving its customers' best interest. They will hurt your credit score. When I got a call tonight, I picked up the phone and (eventually) was told that the call was from something called "Credit One Bank" and had to do with collection. The caller (eventually) gave me a toll-free number. I (eventually) worked my way up to someone identified as a supervisor, but all I was able to get was that he would stop the calls. I believe that if these "Credit One" people are not complicit in the apparent fraud, they would want to cooperate in tracking down the perpetrator. This is not the case. In fact, when I asked for an address, all I was given was a P.O. Box. I think most banks have actual physical locations.
The only way that Chester's name is legitimately associated with my phone number is through his veterinarian. The vet knows that he was a cat and that he's dead. I want to pursue this, since I feel that I am vulnerable to other fraud and don't want my credit ruined. This is very frightening to me, and I want to be able to protect myself.

They raise prices/rates with no notification whatsoever and all they say when you ask about it is they are a repairing credit card company and are entitled to. How is anyone entitled to raise rates without notifying the consumer first? I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy and they will be writing off these charges because they have decided to sit on a check and not post it.

Bogus charges added to account, payments not being applied to account in a timely manner which causes the account payment to become late and incur a late fee charge along with a 7 dollar monthly interest rate. Bogus charge meaning they actually charged me a late fee the day before my bill was due. Even with Moneygram express payments which they are supposed to receive in a matter of minutes takes a few days before it will post to the account according to Credit One bank.

I talked to the guy and I told several times that I wanted $150 and he repeated it sounding like $150 plus for $9.95 express payment. I go and check my bank account often and it stated that $459 was taken out by Credit One Bank. The individuals in eastern countries need to learn how to enunciate their words. I was over my credit limit for a few days. I received over 40 calls within 3 days from Credit One, but they don't leave a voice mail message. They simply call, and if they get my voice mail, they hang up. They will later call back within the hour, sometimes within 30 minutes. This goes on all day, and into the evening, until 9:30PM. I have never been harassed so much. I finally answered when they called me, however, there was no response. I hang up only for them to call me back again. I did speak with a man who did not speak clear English, therefore, it was very difficult to understand. He informed me that I was over my credit limit. I told him that I paid online and made the past due amount, and would pay the rest of the bill, before the due date. He accepted that, and there was no further harassment. There should be a limit of calls they are allowed to make to one person. I cannot wait to pay off this card, and never use it again! I would not recommend this bank!

I hope you can help me figure out what is really going on with my account. I made a payment in December from my Chase saving account for $25. I've made payments from this account before and I made my January payment for $75 using my US Bank checking account. I went online to see balance only to find out a block has been placed on my account because they can't "verify" my payments. I have no idea what that means. I faxed (twice) and mailed both of my bank statements and letter from the manager from US Bank stating this was my account and the payment came from my account. Now, I'm getting the run around on why they won't remove this block. They keep saying call back next week, call back in 5-7 days. I told them that it would have been a better procedure to notify the customer before you place a hold especially since I've done nothing wrong. Suppose I was checking into a hotel or needed a rental car thinking everything was ok.
This verification of payments should have been removed the first time I faxed my bank statements showing where the monies were debited from. Could you please find out what the hell is going on? Once you do I want to close this account and pay it off as I do not trust this company with this shady practice. Also, I keep getting different stories and I even spoke to a manager last Saturday, January 28 and he said the block will be removed on February 4th. I called to check and not only is it not removed, now no one has my information. I finally received a letter stating if I don't comply with sending the documentation (which I have 3 times) they will close my account and report me to the credit bureaus. For what? Making a payment from different accounts and the money has been debited? Can someone please help me find out what "verify" payments mean? Any help would be appreciated.
I paid my other credit card same way, no problem. I work two jobs and my part time pay is deposited in one account and my main income is deposited in another, so it all depends which account I would like to pay from which I thought I had that right. I'm just upset that no prior notification was given. They should have sent a letter saying if we don't receive the documentation by such and such a date, then we will suspend card and not the other way around especially since I did nothing wrong and I'm being made to feel like a criminal.
Desired resolution: no settlement required but this is a shady practice of not informing a customer before an account is suspended. All of the call center reps are reading from a script. I mean no deviation from reading from their piece of paper with trying to help you. If this was on the up and up, they would have seen my two faxes in addition to what I mailed which should all have been uploaded to an image server for viewing by a call center rep and that rep would have been able to see that my accounts are in my name and the payments came from my account.

Also, it would not post until the next day - which would then make it a late payment and cost another $34.00. This is the biggest ripoff I've been subjected to! I told them under no circumstances would I be paying by debit card because I would be making my payment by check on the next due date.
Each time they insisted that I needed to pay by debit card immediately and basically asked me why I wouldn't, when I get paid, and they wanted to set up the payment now! Needless to say, every time I talked to them, I had to hang up on them. They just would not stop talking and basically harassing me for something they wanted their way and I told them no. In no way am I giving this company additional bank information. Granted I missed last months payment but so what! I was charged a late fee and I'm paying them by the time the next payment is due. I have had my Credit One Card for almost a year now and "was" satisfied. During Christmas, I ran into some financial problems and sent them a payment for less than the amount due. I knew this would charge me a late fee, which I was OK with and then scheduled a payment for 3 times my normal due for the next payment in my BillPay.
Well, they called me and I explained to them that I could not afford the full payment for the previous bill, but the next payment was for x amount of dollars and it would get to them before the next due date. This was completely unacceptable. He literally demanded payment over the phone by debit card and asked me, and I quote, "How much money do you make? What date do you get paid? Do you get paid weekly or bi-weekly? Why can't you pay it right now? Why didn't you pay the full amount last month? Do you have any friends or relatives that can loan you the money? How much money is in your bank account?".
It was completely ridiculous that I was treated that way. I explained to him over and over that I was sending in a payment on x day from my BillPay of x dollars and that he wasn't getting it today as it affects my budget system and that he would get it before the due date, but he continued to say he needed payment right then. I eventually hung up after this 15-minute conversation and then added the number to my block list. I'm thinking about calling them back tomorrow so I can record the conversation to post on the internet just to show how absurd they are.

My financial situation had improved dramatically in 2011, so I decided to start trying to rebuild my credit. I got a credit card with Credit One Bank, paid for monthly "credit protection insurance" to cover costs, should I be laid off from my job. A few months after I was approved for a credit card, I was subsequently laid off from my job. They denied my credit protection insurance, and refused to work with me, regarding a payment arrangement. Before I was laid off from my job, I was making all the payments on time. When I say they denied the credit protection insurance, I mean exactly that I signed up for it, was charged for it monthly, and when the time came that I actually needed it, they denied it out of hand.
I tried to make a payment arrangement, but because I was laid, off they denied that out of hand. After denying my "credit protection" insurance, and refusing to work with me on a payment arrangement, I was still unemployed, so there was not much I could do. They began calling me more than 10 times a day (including 2-3 calls before 9 AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings). I have finally found new employment, and I am in a situation again to begin making payments, however in the meantime, $255.00 of penalty fees have accrued on my account (which I see as ridiculous and excessive). Actually, the $255.00 is outdated. The penalties, as of now, exceed the original debt. I am ending up owing more in fees and penalties, than the original debt!
Being laid off from my job was out of my hands. I reacted as responsibly as could be expected, and Credit One Bank refused every attempt I made to rectify the situation. Credit One Bank has effectively manipulated my bad fortune, to double their profit (in the process violating consumer protection laws regarding harassment)! I feel as though the public should be warned about this company, and ask that your organization make their practices known, so others do not go through what I've gone through. I believe there can be no question that the amount and frequency of the calls they made, constitute a violation to both the Federal and State respective Fair Debt Collection Practices Law.

I applied for the Credit One credit card as I decided it was now time to work on my credit. After being approved and notified my card was on the way, I ran across another bank that had way better reviews, Orchard Bank. Applied for that card and also got approved. At this point I decided I wasn't going to activate the Credit One Bank credit card anymore and was just going to let the account close. Well, low and behold, I checked the mail last night and received my first bill from Credit One Bank stating I owed $75 for the annual fee due 2/1/2012 on a card I never activated. Needless to say, I was pissed. Can banks do this by law?
Anyways, I called them this morning. Every number I kept calling kept directing me to activate my card and I wasn't about to do that. I finally called the number under Collections on their Contact Us page online. I was able to bypass them trying to activate my card and also was able to speak to a representative named John. Over about a 3-4 minute conversation, I had stated I applied for this card, decided I no longer wanted it, didn't activate it, so now I would like to cancel it.
The rep on the phone asked me if I was sure I wanted to cancel and I said yes and he said my balance would be credited and the account would be closed. Also stated it would take up to 21 days for this to take affect. I'm nervous that if I don't make the payment of $75 that I will get dinged for a late bill and then this company will send this to collections, etc based on all of the negative reviews I have been reading. I received another notice of a balance and was told there was a remaining $11.00. I was also told if I wanted to pay my bill immediately, there was a $10.00 express payment fee. Even though I thought this was wrong, I paid $21.00 on July 20 to finalize and pay off this account. This account has never been closed, and I am at wit's end on what to do to get it closed.
On July 20, I talked to a Tracy ** at 12:30 pm who assured me she would get it closed. After more e-mail notices, I called on August 9 at 11:40 am and was given assurance it would be closed and was even given a confirmation number. I was also told a letter would be sent to confirm this. More e-mails came saying I was past due.
I called on September 6 at 10:00am and was told the same story that my account would be closed and a letter would be sent. On September 27, I talked to a Matthew who said he was a supervisor but could not give me a last name according to policy, and he would personally get a letter out to me. No letters ever arrived. I did ignore my e-mail for a time, thinking it hadn't caught up yet with the resolution. More e-mails came, and I called at 10:04am on January 12, demanding that I talk to a supervisor. I was disconnected after waiting on the line until 10:25am.
At 3:30 pm, I called back when I finished work and talked to Stanley, again no last name allowed, a supervisor who assured me he would personally close this account and send me a letter saying as much.
Today, it is January 17, 2012, and my balance is $0.01. I expect more fees and charges to be added on as they have, since I closed this account on and on and on.
What does a person need to do to close an account with you? I don't know what else to do. As of today, I am writing TV stations, the Better Business Bureau, and a lawyer. If this hurts my credit in any way I will take legal action. Saying I want prompt attention to this matter is long past. This is so incredibly ridiculous that I shudder to think how you hold down the people with bad credit (this is who your target audience is) and make them prisoner to your card and fees. Ten dollar fee for making a prompt payment? No balance transfers? No closing of accounts no matter what is done?

Credit One Bank, a real joke, the actual bank does not exist, only a small office in Las Vegas. The call centers are in India and in the Philippines. No US call center. They are considered a predatory lender. This is not the company to deal with. File complaints with the BBB in southern Nevada and at the Federal Trade Commission.
They prey intentionally on those consumers with low credit scores. If you're looking to improve your credit with a legit card and a real bank consider these options: A Orchard Bank Card at Orchardbank.com or Household Bank at househodbank.com both of these can pre-qualify you without hurting your credit score. Also try Capitalone at Capitalone.com, they also will let you pre-quailfy without hurting your score. If you cant get qualified with one of those cards, try a secured card through one of the big banks. They all offer them and the fees are comparable to any real card. Bank of America, US Bank, Citibank, USAA, Capitalone, and HSBC all offer secured cards at really good fees that can help you establish better credit.
If you have problems, which most of you will with Credit One, close your account both by phone and in writing. Closing your account will not hurt your credit score unless you don't pay them. If you're late or have unsettled disputes, your probably going to end up with damaged credit. However, there are ways as described earlier to protect yourself. Also, if damaged credit occurs, you can also dispute information through the three leading credit agencies, transunion, eqifax, and experian. You're entitled to one free credit report with each agency once a year. You can file disputes for free. Hope this info helps everyone.

It's (per them what President Obama suggests) a finance charge on the average daily balance. My complaints include all the previous remarks made by consumers: not being able to access credit for 5 days after payment, rude CS personnel (if you can get anyone on the phone), inability to contact CS via email (very strange) and unheard of in this day and age, increased high interest rates (whether you pay your bill on time or not, and lying about waiving late fees). I would highly recommend that anyone dealing with these crooks to do as I am finally doing, bite the bullet and pay the **** bill off no matter how much it hurts! Good riddance!

I got through the mail a Credit One Bank Visa card around October 5th this year and decided to activate and use this to help on my credit.
Today Friday, 11/12/2010 I didn't receive a bill from Credit One yet so I decided to see if I could find on the internet a website to check my account status. I found their website and activated myself into it and found out on 10/5 I was charged an annual fee of $75 with a minimum fee of $25 due to them by 11/1 (I never received a bill for this). Then I found another statement that the billing period ended on 11/5 (I never received a bill for this) that I was overdrawn on my $300 credit limit for $320.63.
I then called their billing office today just to see what the heck is going on with my bill and try to get some explanation as to why I never have received a bill from them. The person who answered on their end was from a different country that I could not understand. I told them that the only way I found out that I was overdrawn was that I went and found out myself through their website and that I never received a bill from them. The customer service rep. said they sent us a bill and that I must pay today $75. I explained to them on the website, it shows that I have until 12/1 a minimum due bill of $50 and nowhere does it say I must pay $75. today.
I then asked for a supervisor who also spoke a different language and was even harder to understand. I had to give them my credit card number and last 4 digits of my social security number which as of this time was my 3rd time giving this out to them. The supervisor insisted that they sent us the bills and that we must pay the $75 today.
I told them to close my account immediately and the supervisor switched me to another customer service person who was hard to understand and had no idea as to why they transferred me to them so I had to give them again my credit card number and last 4 digits of my social security. Supposedly my credit card was closed. After this entire ordeal today, I received my first bill that says I owe $75?

In 1995, I was approved for a secured credit card in 1995 and we kept through 1996 and it ended up getting charged off. Now, I see that First Nation Bank of Marin has changed its name to Credit One and LVNV Lending and are double dinging my credit for $693. This is a time barred account and by federal law according to the FDCPA, this is an illegal action on the part of the creditor. When I tried to access the website with mine and my ex-husband's information, the account was locked by the administrator. This company really needs to be shut down by the federal government and all of us who have been victimized should be compensated for our stress and mental anguish and removed from our credit.

My husband spoke with them also in regards to a 29.9 interest rate they say cannot be lowered. I sent them another payment 2 days later and another payment after that. I got a call from a very rude man from the company today asking for the whole amount due. I explained that I have already sent out three payments and I was not going to make a payment over the phone again. And when you ask them as to the cause, they never have a reason or they hang up on you when you start to get angry due to the fact that they wont answer you. Just yesterday, my wife received a call from a different collection agency telling her that Credit One had sold my account to them. My wife told the collector that this debt was already paid in full. Exactly how is it legal for a company to sell the same debt to several different collection companies and then not let them know once the debt is paid? My wife is now having to prove that the debt was paid in full. The only damage is emotional and the stress on my wife as she's the one having to deal with this while I'm overseas.

I do not, nor have I ever had a Credit One card. However, somehow my home telephone number got into their automated dialing system for collections and I received over 100 calls last month asking for people I never heard of. After I got my land-line provider (Horizon of NJ) through their harassment hotline to contact them, I discovered there were 47 names with my number attached to them alone in collections. The person from Credit One realized there had been a computer glitch on their part since the names and addresses of the people they were trying to collect from were in different parts of the country and therefore couldn't be in my area code. They removed those 47 names, but another billing cycle has started and now calls for other people are coming in. In one day in Sept., I received 77 calls from this stupid company that I don't even have a card with.
There was no one looking for Jane, all the calls were for people I never heard of and when I would say that, the collector would demand that I was the name of the person they were looking for. One man was so demanding that he kept referring me by the name of Thomas, until I got so angry I started calling him Joanne. I have since filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I hope this helps, since I can't get through to their phone number listed on their website for collections, this too is automated and I can't supply a 16 digit card number.
I don't have a card with them. The I am stressed of dealing with these people, who most of the time I can't understand because it is outsourced and they don't speak clear English. Once every so often isn't a bother, but 77 times in one day alone is harassment, especially when they call me a liar if I say I'm not one of the many people they are looking for. Not one of them has ever asked for Jane (that's me), and they can't since I don't have an account with them.

I am unsure how to handle this as my payment due dates are never the same so I cannot even set up any type of direct payment to avoid anywhere from 29-35 dollars per month in late fees. My current balance would be in the negatives and they would owe me money if the late fees were based upon actually being late or if the due dates would remain the same from month to month without fluctuation.

They were so bat that it caused us to take a good look at the institution we were doing business with. We found there are thousands of complaints filed online about them. After a 2-hour fight with them I finally got them to cancel the card, but had to tell them I was a long haul truck driver and that traveling to their location to do business in person was no problem for me. Two months later, February 2010, we missed a payment. We don't know what happened, I just missed sending them a payment somehow on bill paying day. It was no problem for us. We called them expecting to have a 35.00 fee as missing the payment was our fault. When I called them I got a real shock.
I called prepared to just send them the 339.00 we owed and pay off the card completely. It was then that I found out over 100.00 had been charged to our account for a one month late fee. I expected the 35.00, the one stated on their monthly statement. I was told that the extra money, nearly 75.00 extra, was interest on the late payment, which was only 30.00. I blew my stack, so to speak. They finally got me a "supervisor" who agreed to drop the amount down to the original 339.00 without the late fee if I wanted to pay the account in full.
I agreed to pay 339.00 and asked when they could have a statement to me guaranteeing my payoff. I was promptly told they could not do that and that payment had to be made right there over the phone. I told them there was no way on God's green earth I would give any more money to a company with a reputation like theirs without a written guarantee. By this time I had read several hundred complaints online about them, and told them so. They informed me they had millions of satisfied customers and were unaware of any complaints against them, so I promptly told them where to look.
To make a long story short, I finally had to hang up the phone after dealing for almost 2 hours, again, with the most rude service reps. I will not pay them until I am guaranteed on paper that they will accept the amount they stated as payment in full, and they refuse to to put it in writing. They still call my home offering to settle for 339.00, but still refuse to send me a statement in writing. I told them on the last call that my wife and I are having to file bankruptcy after our last college class is done, and that I will file on them as well.
All they have to do is guarantee the amount in writing. Still, again, they refuse. I have the cash to pay them off. It is saved and set aside. I pay my bills. But the economy has created some problems for us. If they don't want my money, then they can suffer with the rest of us. They have proven themselves over and over to be a scam artist company. I will not be scammed. There are thousands of complaints of people trying to pay off their accounts with this company, and the money never getting credited to the account. Beware when you send them money.

I have an account with Credit One Bank and have been making my payments on time and all of a sudden, they have started showing me a past due payment and charging me a late fee. I printed my statements from my account online, sent them a copy and showed them where I had made my payments on or before the payment was due. They send me a letter back, saying my account was open and current, but when I went to pay them for this month due on April 26, 2010, it was still showing me past due of $35 and they charged me another $29 late fee. How can I be past due and get charged a late charge when they say I am current. If you pay them before the due date, they don't credit it for that payment so when they don't get the payment on the due date, you are past due and you get charged a late fee. It is hurting my credit report, putting a physical and financial strain on me. I try to make all my payments before or on the due date and they do this to me.

I had a Credit One credit card, and I was never sorrier. They charge you for making payments online using their website - $9.95 per payment. They don't have agreements in place with major banks to facilitate electronic payments through your own bank's free bill payment service. If you make a payment via check, they'll hold your check in limbo until after the due date, and then charge you a late fee--even if you've sent you check early.
If you ever have to deal with their collection department (due to the aforementioned late fees and late payments), prepare to be abused as their collections agents are not by any means professional. If you do have to deal with their collections department, record the conversation; you can use this as evidence of harassment. They will raise your interest rates to 39%. Credit One bank is registered in Nevada, which has very lax usury laws. Clearly Credit One prides its business model on predatory lending. Steer clear.

Every time you call for a credit increase because they don't automatically do it, they charge you a fee of $100 - for $100 increase - no more than that. When I signed up for this card, the fee was $69 back in 2007. Now, I have to pay $99. I didn't sign up for this, why should I have to pay $30 more a year for this? When you call and ask for a corporate number, there is no number. The customer service reps are rude. The corporate address is a PO Box that no one ever answers. Correspondence, I've written more than 10 times in the last year and no reply. The economy is bad enough as it is for us to be faced by companies like this that do whatever they want. I don't know if the Federal Government is at fault for this or not, but something needs to be done.

Credit One has been calling my phone at least 15 to 20 times a day regarding a late payment. I have not used this card in over a year and though I was late with one payment, this past month, and there is no need for it. I can no longer answer my phone. I had to put it on vibrate and it is causing emotional distress.

I recently opened an account The first statement I received had two payments due and a late fee attached. I called customer service, I was told nothing could be done. I asked to speak with a manager, I was told that if I made payment by phone then I could speak with a manager. I replied that what they had done was illegal. I was then forwarded to a person who claimed to be a manager. He said that if I made payment by phone he would remove the fee.
This being the first statement I should have to pay one month minimum due plus the $5.75 annual fee. I did not have two months' payment plus two annual fees plus late fee and the charge to pay by phone. Also the statement said payment due 02/26/10 this conversation was taking place on 02/11/10. When I told him I could not do that today he said, "Then I can't help you." Frustrated, I said that I wanted to make a complaint about not being able to speak with a manager the reply I got was if you don't want to pay your bill I'm not going to talk to you.

On October 09, I received a letter containing a PIN number from Credit One. I call them to see what was going on with this. I told them to cancel the card as I had not ordered one from them. About 2 weeks later I received a second notice from them that had a PIN number to activate the card. So I call them again and was to the account had been canceled and to ignore further mailings from them, but that it might take a month or so for mailings to stop.
This morning, 1-19-2010 at 8:01 am, they called me to collect $154 and would cut a deal for $55. They were rude and I was passed from the first agent to two different supervisors that said their names so softly I could not hear them. I explained that to the best of my knowledge I had never applied for a card and that I had called in October to cancel the card that I had received a PIN number for and I had called back in November again for the same reason. They said they cannot even attempt to do anything for me until I pay the card down. They can not forward me to customer service to check the record of my calls and that they could not correct their error.
The only way I can figure they got my information was that my youngest daughter had used my business laptop and it has an auto fill for forms I use for taxes. This would include my SSN for doing business as tax ID. Or it is from identity theft, but as this is the only issue I can find that seems unlikely. They would not even give me the account number. I had to pay $55.33 to get access to account services to request they close the account for the 3rd time for an account I didn't even apply for and get the needed information to file a fraud charge.

Please disregard my first complaint. I made a mistake and entered Capital One instead of Credit One Bank. I am so sorry. Through correspondence, I received in the mail, I went online to apply for the pre-approved credit card they spoke of. I was approved for a credit line of $250.00. When I received the card in the mail, I called to activate it that day.
A few days later I went to use it, but the card was declined. I then called the number on back of the card and I found out that I was already charged with a $69.00 annual fee plus a $5.95 fee (do not know what that is for). Anyway, I can not even use this card and yet they are already charging me? I do not want this card nor the hassles that go along with it. Please advise. Thank you.

I have had some of the same trouble that others have had with this Credit One Bank. I have had an account with them since April of 2008. A MasterCard to be exact. They started me out with a $200 line of credit with a $69 annual fee charged at once to the account and $5.75 billed in monthly installments. I realized this when I applied and reluctantly accepted to help my credit. Back in July of 2009, I reported my card as lost and got a new one. Much to my surprise, the fee that was $5.75 per month has now become $6.50 per month from 7/09 to 12/09 and then all of a sudden, $8.25 a month since Jan 2010. My mouth about dropped, I wasn't notified about any fee increase that I can remember. I didn't receive anything in the mail from them, I have for my other creditors but not Credit One. They have some nerve.
So today, I called to find out why the fee increased. I told them I thought there was an error on my account. I was told no, that it was new term and I should have received notice in the mail. I told the lady that I didn't and ask if she could send me this notice. So then, I am already on a DMP (debt management plan) with CareOne. So I called the Credit Protect number on my Credit One statement and told the rep that I am going to put my account in consolidation. I need to cancel Credit Protect. The rep went on and on about how good the service is. I told him I never authorized it to begin with. He said, "well, we wouldn't activate if you didn't". Yeah, right. I remember avoiding it. Anyways, long story short, Credit One is nothing but fees. Capital One is better.

Credit One Bank approved me back in August. Now some secrets, they do charge a lot of fees but to save yourself some extra money open a Bank Of America account online. It's free, okay, don't utilize this account for nothing more than their bill pay service which right now they're offering $35 to use. Anyway Bank Of America is the only bank I know that has the bill pay for Credit One Bank electronically and it's free. Trust me, I have been using it and haven't paid a stupid $7.95 fee debit card or $9.95 ACH. The payment clears the next day!
I will send you pics if you like. It's awesome. Now for some reason Credit One Bank has a credit score feature which shocks me because as I pay on time my score goes down. Credit One bank shows my December credit score plummet but yet I have an account with all three credit bureaus and Credit One Bank is running two months behind. So how do they figure my credit score is 560 and all credit bureaus have it at between 625-640? They don't have an account with Transunion because I checked it and I get an alert each month.
And it's been going up, not down and another thing, if you can get a secured card, get it. These credit card companies want your score low on purpose to charge you these ridiculous interest rates and fees because they know you will pay them. Stand up and show them. Yes, I had hardship in my life. Things happen. We're human. Why, if you went through hard times, instead of helping, they give bigger fees bigger interest rates?

Our hours at work were cut severely and our business is struggling, so we called credit one to ask if they have a plan that would put us on hold and just let us pay the principle down[we have done this with our sears master cards]. They were very rude and told us they would not tell us of any plans until we had lost the use of our card. We have always paid on time and would not ask if we knew we would be able to come up with the money. Then we asked to speak with collections. They said no because we were not in collections, then we asked to speak with a supervisor which we were told no.
After a hour of fighting with customer service they finally put us thru to a manager, who would do nothing. After arguing with him for half an hour, he finally put us through to a supervisor, who also said no because we were not in collections. All together, we were on the phone for over three hours just to get information. They were rude, have the time I do not believe one or more of the agents understood English. How are we suppose to make an informed decision if credit one will not give out information?
We are now late and have received late fees and penalties which we were tring to avoid. Our credit score will suffer, and it is not so good now. What we thought would help toward helping to clean up our credit is turning into a nightmare.

I have had a Credit One Bank card for one year. I always pay on time and have never ever been late. I have had perfect payment history. Their card started out with a $69 annual fee (billed at $5.75 a month) and a $200 credit limit. They generally charge fees to pay online and do not allow banks to use free electronic transfer, so I mail it in or have the bank automail to their address.
Credit One is extremely slow in processing payments, even if mailed 3 or 4 weeks in advance of the due date. They receive the payments and then hold them without crediting the account, hoping that you'll get a late fee or use their online payment service to get extra fees. They've done this several times to me. I end up paying more fees to avoid the late fees. They are very sneaky.
After about 9 months, they allowed me to get a credit increase to $300 from $200, after a $30 charge to increase it (ugh). They even charge extra to have a design on the card (picture, etc. ). Okay, jump to January 2010. Again, perfect, absolutely perfect payment history with them. Now they change the annual fee from $69 to $99 a year ($5.75 a month to $8.25 a month). I called and asked them why and they said it had nothing to do with my credit, which they say is perfect.
They just "re-evaluated" all cards and some cards got an increase, and some did not (but they could not tell me why?!). Now if I close the account after I pay it off, my credit score could take a dive, even though I have paid on time every month. If you can, avoid Credit One if possible. Even Capital One is much better than this. Be careful of Credit One Bank. They like to hold on to payments, change charges, and play games!
