Chaz Dean/Guthy Renker harassed me for several years to pay for merchandise I didn't receive. I only accepted 3 shipments of Wen and returned all other shipments unopened. So I just paid $100 for merchandise I never received just to get them to stop harassing me. I explained everything to them but they didn't care. So I am never going to buy anything from Chaz Dean or Guthy Renker again!

My complaint is much the same as the others. I bought their starter kit for my daughter as a Christmas present. She told me she tried it for a couple of weeks before throwing it out. She said it made her hair feel greasy and unclean. Anyway a couple of months later I received a late payment notice. I assumed it was some poor bookkeeping seeing how I already paid in advance. I returned the notice with a note that I had already paid. A few more notices came before a collection agency sent me a threatening notice.

When I called the customer service they told me they had sent out a second order and had not received my payment. I informed her that I never received the second order and never asked for one. She then told me that by purchasing the trial kit, it automatically set me up to receive quarterly shipments. I told her to cancel my enrollment and I paid the outstanding amount to the collection company to avoid a negative report to the credit rating bureau.

A month later another box shows up at my door. I called customer service to find out why they sent me another order. This time for $92.00. She said it was automatic once the outstanding balance was paid. I informed her I had canceled my account several months earlier. She said there was no record of that but would make that entry and give me credit back once I mailed the box back. I asked for a confirmation number for the cancellation. She responded to me they don't have that policy. So I mailed it back registered mail and lo and behold I get another late notice 7 weeks later.

I called customer non-service just to hear them tell me they never received the box. They told me to wait for a couple of weeks and they were sending me an affidavit to sign and send back. I am sending them their affidavit along with the receipt for the return plus the tracking info that shows it was delivered to them. We'll see what slimy way they try to get around this now.

On January 7th, 2014, I ordered the deluxe kit from WEN. I waited a month for them to ship this to me, only to be told it was on back order. I never received any email or any phone call to let me know it was on back order. So I call them to ask what the hell was going on with my order. They finally tell me it was on back order. They tell me to wait a little more as it was apparently shipping in the next few days. Apparently to them that was what was really going on. It didn't ship. So I call back and cancel my order.

I finally receive an email confirming my order being cancelled. Throughout all of this crap, I still manage to email them through their website and complain. A few days later I get an email from them stating that because it was on backorder that I was never charged on my account. I use a visa debit so everything I buy online comes out of my checking account. Anyway they tell me after multiple emails, they tell me that my account was credited for 45.15$ and that it would show on my next credit card statement even after I told them I paid for these stupid hair products through my bank account.

Then we get to today where I’m told that my account is closed that they don’t see a charge on my card and that they were not at fault. That if I want my money back that I have to call my bank. So I call my bank after speaking with a rude supervisor from WEN. My bank tells me that WEN never released my funds after they had assured me that they did. WEN Hair is not a company that does honest business. Heed my warnings people... You will get scammed. Fortunately, if this happens to you, call your bank and have them investigate so you can get your credit back to where it belongs.

Pretty much bought this stuff for my mom's birthday and so far it was alright for her I suppose but what got to me was having my paycheck today and then immediately charged $38 by this Dean guy and I called my bank immediately to check who this is because it's been at least a month. I forgot totally that he owned the hair product Wen so to my surprise I was charged twice for no reason. Immediately called Wen and they said its because of another auto shipment and boy was I furious but I told her to cancel and she said that she doesn't see any charge for $38?... After reading everybody else's reviews I'm not gonna tolerate this. As soon as I get off work I'm calling back to demand my money back and gonna get the manager's name and make sure my membership is canceled because this product is a big fat scam. Absolutely ridiculous.

Ordered a starter kit which included several "free" products for $29.99. I thought that was a decent deal for all the products. When I opened the packing slip I found that I was enrolled in an "auto ship" program. I don't recall signing up for that. The auto ship is $29.99 PER MONTH (and only includes 1 product), but the product only ships every 3 months! That equates to $360 a year for 4 bottles of "cleansing conditioner" or $90.00 a bottle! I've only used the product a few times and kind of like it, but not enough to pay $90.00 a bottle. I called to cancel and hope it really is cancelled! The next day I got the "free" bottle of vitamins only to find that that was also an auto-ship trap. Called and cancelled that also. After reading other reviews, I will be scrupulously checking my bank charges to see if I am still being charged.

The product is ok (not that I would re-order) but the customer service is awful. I received an auto shipment that I never signed up for or approved. I refused delivery stating I didn't order it, return to sender. I called customer service explained what happened, told them I never approved automatic shipments or signed up for any membership. The first call was greeted with a not so nice woman who eventually hung up on me. I called back and was assured they would cancel my so-called membership.

My next credit card statement has another charge from them. I called again and was told they haven't received the returned package (after 4 weeks) and they are sending me an affidavit to fill out and sign, then they will credit me back the 2 months of charges. Run around doesn't seem to fully explain how difficult they make it to get them to stop charging you. The product does not do what it claims and the company is even worse. If you are considering please don't do it or make payment in a way that they can't auto charge your credit card.

I purchased a $43 starter kit of Wen products as a Christmas gift for my granddaughter. Much to my surprise, in January I received a $111 box of Wen products that I did not order which Wen Customer Service described to me as a replacement kit that was part of my "membership" in Wen products. I talked to two customer service representatives and neither of them could tell me how I became a "member" of this group. Wen will take back the products, but I must pay the shipping and handling both to and from their company. I believe this is a very questionable marketing practice targeted at unsuspecting customers and I think it should be discontinued.

I had a package that I did not receive. I called customer service and was told a replacement shipment was going to be sent. Instead, I got an affidavit that I needed to sign stating that I had not received my shipment. At the time I was happy to sign the form because I had not, in fact, received my package. I called customer service once again to check to see if a shipment was coming and had another battle with a rude agent. I finally got my replacement shipment and then realized I was actually charged for both. I tried to rectify the situation only to find that the company had cancelled my membership. I thought it was extremely funny. They had a sucker in me and instead of keeping me happy allowing me to spend $40 every month on their product, they just cancelled my subscription. Ordered promotional ad $29.99 like the product. Also had offer for free vitamins. At no time did they say it was an auto ship item that I needed to cancel.... I am referring to the vitamins so I got another bottle, I haven't used the first one. So I called and told them, "Please cancel my order, I will pay this thirty dollars but no more." This month, I get another $30 plus charge. I call and she tells me yes, you have cancelled it but the pills were 90 dollars. What... Vitamins, they were broken down by month, you still owe on them. So I decided I no longer want dealings with Wen or Guthy-Renker whatever her name is. Now I did over phone payment for remainder. Today they sent an additional bill for Wen apparently the auto ship for it as well is on some three month breakdown. So the three-month supply is over 100 dollars. So disappointed plus shipping high price at that. Disappointed in all of the extra fine print.

After completing my order, I receive an email confirming they had received it and then an email stating it had been shipped. Then I received an email thanking me for ordering Vitamins through Guthy-Renker. I thought it was a mistake and ignored it. I received the WEN and was appalled at the amount of shampoo required and method to use and decided I didn't like it because it would be way too expensive to use.

The next day I received a package of vitamins which I returned. I called and told them to cancel the vitamin order because I never ordered them. Less than a month later, my account was charged over $38 for another shipment of WEN. I called to tell them I don't want any more and that I did not set up auto ship. They told me it was automatic if you order any of their products and that they could not cancel it. So, I stopped the payment on my account, cancelled my debit card and ordered a new one so that no more charges could be put through and then I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). I am a very busy businesswoman, but I will file complaints with every resource I can and hope to find a lawyer willing to start a class action suit against Guthy-Renker and WEN.

Now they tell me I have to wait four to six weeks for them for a refund. When they charged me for the final payment my bank account was charged another $30 overdraft fee. They now owe me $98.55 of products I did not order and another $30. They tell me I have to wait four to six weeks for my money to be returned to me. It did not take them four to six weeks to charge my account! I sent their products back to them via priority mail and according to the USPS tracking system, they have received the products. I find this four to six week wait unfair. And why do they not require a signature from the customers before taking it upon themselves to send and charge for products. This seems unlawful to me. I saw a really good deal one day that was the regular 30 month supply package plus an extra cleansing conditioner for the same $29.95 price. I called and asked customer service if I could sub in anything for the products I don’t use (deep conditioner, the gel, the pomade stuff) and they said sure. I asked how this would affect my price and he promised it would not affect the price at all. I confirmed this several times, because I knew it was probably not true. Of course, I have nothing in writing. Not surprisingly you can't make changes to the contents of your subscription on your online account, probably for this reason.

So now I’m somehow paying $100 a month, and I called and told them I wanted to go back to how it was and they said this deal I described never even existed! I looked at my order history online and it’s not there either. I know it existed because I still have the two bottles and all the crap sitting in my bathroom and I know what my credit card was charged. It was all very unscrupulous and the customer service guy was rude and made me feel like I was lying or crazy. Just buy it on Amazon if you must have it because at least those people are nice.

It was no larger (and smaller than some) than store bought shampoo. So, I thought they had made a mistake and sent me the original size. Then, I looked at the invoice on the box and saw that they were charging me over $104.00!

When I talked to the company, they told me that I had agreed to the "upcharge" over the phone. That is an outright lie. That is 2 weeks of groceries for me and I would never have agreed to pay such amount and would have cancelled my order right then and there! Granted there were other items with the shampoo, but according to WEN, they were gifts for ordering. They also said that they would cancel any future deliveries and all I would have to pay is the final payment of the $104.00.

Do not be fooled! It is a scam. The shampoo is no better than store bought and I don't see where this guy Chaz (or whatever) gets off saying it is so wonderful. The only thing wonderful about it is the money he is collecting. I doubt that he even cares about these bad reviews regarding his company and products. I explained I had not yet canceled the order trial and if they could honor that scheduled shipment (30 days recurrent) to come out next at that price since the offer was still going on. They said no. So I asked them to cancel the order because I could not afford regular price. Later I received a package with their name on it and a transaction debited from my account. So I called them and explained, the rep was nice and said, “No problem, our apologies. It was never canceled last time but we will do so now. Please return the package.”, and a return receipt number was given.

I have an illness that limited me from functioning for months. I never opened the package. Once I returned the package, it was several months later and I was assigned to their collection company NSA in Columbus, OH. When I made sure they had received the product back (via certified mail), I called them (WEN) to clarify my account was closed and cleared and to request they notify the credit agency due to their request for payment. They told me that even though I had returned the product, because it was not during their return policy time frame, they could not clear my account and I still had to pay the collection agency $179.70. That once that was paid they would mail me the product again.

I told them, “No, thank you”, I didn't want the product and they didn't owe me any money so no refund was expected (they kept using the term refund). I didn't want to see the account on my credit report and didn't feel it was ethical for them to say there was nothing they could do but have me pay it anyway. I spoke to Sandra (Rep) then Susan (Manager), then Ryan (Account Specialist) who all told me the same thing. I was very firm and made it a point I would take legal action due to the unfairness of the matter and finally Ryan said he would dismiss the charge and clear me with the collection agency.

If he was able to do that for me in the end why did they all lie, and worst of all how many people have been scammed into paying for their account balance even when the product was returned. I never signed to an agreement on their return policy. I don't know much about laws but it's alarming to find this may be possible.

WEN hair care system. It is advertised on TV for $29.95, and when you call, they are spewing product size increases, longer supplies and prices to sound like you are getting so much more so little less! Wrong. This product made no difference in my hair and I was going to just let it go as a bad decision until I realized I was charged a total of $112.19 for one extra bottle!

WEN is sending out false advertisement. When I spoke to the representative to order the WEN product, I specifically asked her if there was automatic billing involved, and she advised that there was not. I explained to her that I would like to try the product out first to see if I like it. She advised me that I would only be charged the $29.95. However, I received an invoice of $104.95 and was totally outraged because this is not fair to myself or the consumers. This is totally false advertising. This situation needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

In December 2009, I purchased hair care products from Chez Dean. The product did not work for me. On January 30, 2010, I received a shipment of product; and my credit card was billed $97.84. I called the customer service center on February 4, 2010 and spoke with Scott. I asked that customer number ** be cancelled, as the product did not work for me. I stated that since I knew someone who did like the product, I would keep this shipment and requested that no other charges be billed to my credit card.

On March 31, 2010, I received another shipment; and my credit card was billed $97.80. I again called the customer service center on April 8, 2010 and spoke with Karen. I made a second request to cancel the account and stated that I would like to return the product. Karen stated that the account was cancelled and that she would like to send a sample of a different product free of charge.

On April 25, 2010, I called customer service center to confirm that a credit had been issued to my credit card. I spoke to Marcella and was told that the credit was issued on April 2, 2010. I explained to her that I did not return the product until April 10, 2010. At that point, the telephone line was disconnected. I called back and spoke with Alexis to confirm that the account was closed and that a credit be issued and that my concerns be escalated to a supervisor. I was told that since it was Sunday (4-25-10), it would take three to five days before I could get a call back.

I don't expect to get a call from anyone at Chez Dean. It is obvious that Chez Dean's company motto is "Promise the customer everything, but give them nothing." I am requesting that Chez Dean issue a refund to my credit card account in the amount of $97.84.
