I have had Avast For years. Almost every time I called for Customer Service, I was given a pitch for another service at a great low low price. I was told I would be contacted days before any automatic renewals - NOT that that happened. I called this am to cancel any and all automatic renewals I have for Avast Security. Almost every time I call I am connected with someone who does not share English as a first language. And that's ok when the agent is willing to discuss the issue with me to insure we both understand the issue & solution. When I called AVAST Security today, I gave the agent all my contact information but did not have the credit card number I used to charged this separate service. (Which because of the number of services I was sold when I called for help over a period of time-I wasn't sure which card I used.)

I asked the agent if there wasn't another method that could be used confirm my ID on the account. I was told the only other way to confirm my account was to give them MY PERSONAL BANKING account numbers. I have never used these, and NOW I assure you I never will. When I refused and asked if this was the only two ways for me to verified this was my account could be verified, the AVAST customer rep. HUNG UP on me. I called for the agent's supervisor, which he told me he didn't have one. When I insisted he must have someone over him, he told me he was connecting me to his manager. When connected with his 'manager' (who sounded like the same person) & questioned what procedures Avast Security had for identifying their customers, I was again asked for my personal bank account numbers-as that was the only way he could verify.

He made no pretense of hiding his resentment. He refused to listen to my queries much less to answer them. He just snapped that he was just going to cancel all my services (Seems HE had no problem securely linking me with my AVAST ACCOUNT). He talked over me when I tried to explain that was not the purpose of my call. He just angrily stated again he was cancelling all my services and refused to discuss the matter further. The call ended there.

In my opinion, beware of this company. It starts off as supposedly free, and then you are bombarded by constant ads request to upgrade, etc. et having made the mistake of purchasing several of their products I continued to be bombarded. I decided to cancel my subscription. Good luck with that. Their website is virtually impossible to use to try to unsubscribe and of course they leave no phone number. I finally was able to speak to a live person and was on the phone for over a half an hour simply trying to cancel my subscription. Very very unsatisfied.

I was using Avast FREE version for a couple of years. It seem to be working fine but I always got spam popups which is understandable when using a "free" version. I got tired of the constant spamming so I took a "special offer" for a year. Big mistake, it is far worse than the free version. Now I get spammed about 4x as much. I guess they know that I'll be willing to pay for their products now, so they keep bugging me to upgrade. I did upgrade and then they continued to spam me daily. Contently telling me that my computer is at risk, but I'm paying for antivirus protection already, right? No. I apparently bought the two first "watered down" versions. I don't have full protection unless I pay more money. This is extortion. Terrible product and terrible business practices. Also all those "Best or Top 5 or 10 antivirus" sites are all bogus and paid for by Avast and the other antivirus companies. Not real reviews.

⭐☆☆☆☆ — Avast: Great at Taking Your Money, Not So Great at Helping You Use What You Paid For. I’ve been a loyal Avast user for years, but my recent experience has made one thing very clear: once they have your money, good luck ever getting help again. I tried linking my paid subscription to my Avast account, but their system can’t seem to handle the radical concept of two email addresses. You’d think this would be a basic feature in 2025. Instead, I got error after error, all while literally logged in to the accounts in question.

Their solution? A chatbot that would struggle to hold a conversation with a toaster. No live person, no support ticket, just a spinning wheel of “try again later.” I ended up getting better support from ChatGPT—yes, an AI from a completely different company helped me more with Avast than Avast’s own support bot. That should tell you everything.

And frankly, in 2025, that’s a bare minimum expectation, especially from a tech company in the cybersecurity space. If your company is responsible for protecting people’s digital lives, maybe start by making your own systems functional—and your support channels human. It’s sad to see such a great product ruined by a lack of customer care and/or support. Avast had my trust for years, but now it just feels like another cash-grab wrapped in a sleek interface. If you value your time, patience, or sanity, spend your money elsewhere. There are better antivirus options out there that won’t make you feel like you need protection from the support process itself.

I bought Avast software for a laptop and it worked great. However, when the laptop came to the end of its life and I canceled the subscription, billing has continued. Even though the subscription was canceled in 2023, Avast continued to bill me annually in both 2024 and 2025. Each time, when I call, they acknowledge the error, and eventually, through repeated customer service calls and dispute processes, the charge is refunded. However, it just reappears the next year. They clearly do not have a way to turn off billing/auto renewals. This is a vendor you have to block with your credit card company if you ever want to stop the billing. While the virus protection is good, their billing practices are flawed at best, shady at worst.

Run away my friends. I paid a promotional price for Avast Cleanup Premium. After loading the program, I ran a couple of recommended scans and now my wifi internet will not connect. Five technical support phone calls later I still can't connect to the internet. On call number 5, the support person said it was my computer that was to blame. At least the first four calls acknowledged that Avast likely changed something that stopped the internet connection. I am sitting and waiting on a third promised phone call (the first two promised calls never came). I've had some differing experiences with customer service in the past but, at age 68, this is the worst by far. Again, run away.

I have had Avast for a couple of years. After receiving multiple pop ups, encouraging me to upgrade and not being tech savvy, I contacted them on March 05, 2025 and was talked into upgrading to the Avast Ultimate VIP for the remainder of my current contract which expires on August 31st, 2025. It seems that on March 05, 2025, I also paid for another one year contract which will not start for more than another month and a half from now on Sept 01, 2025. They offer a one month guarantee. I foolishly gave them prepayment. So they have had my money for the last 4 months for a program that will not start for another month and a half. I tried to cancel it and was told that because I paid them 4 months ago, they will not give me a refund.

If I had not trustingly and generously paid them 4 months in advance and instead paid them only on Sept 01, 2025, I would have had 30 days to cancel! I was expedited to a senior department level and after calling on two separate days it was like a recording playing out the exact words of the previous senior level Be VERY VERY careful with AVAST! I feel played!!! I had trouble uploading my Avast receipt. My order number was #** on March 05, 2025.

I subscribed to the Ultimate plan for three years, but shortly afterward discovered that Avast is interfering with my access to cryptocurrency exchanges such as Kraken and others. I'm unable to log in or complete transactions while Avast is active. I had to uninstall the software in order to regain access to Kraken. When I contacted customer support, I was told there was nothing they could do. Kraken has confirmed that I’m not the only user experiencing this issue. Since I paid for a three-year subscription in advance, I’m asking that you resolve this problem so I can continue using Avast without compromising access to essential platforms.

I have had experience that they've been doing this for years and continue to do these deceptive business practices. We will be disputing with the bank as we sent an email that said we want a refund and it came back and told us to use a different address and we use that address and it came back again as they are making it difficult so that you can't get a refund. This is definitely deceptive business practices and if you have a problem I suggest just disputing with your bank.

I initially downloaded the "free Avast" edition - after my 3 year agreement with McAfee ended. And, I had read several, what I considered "logical", internet articles - as to using a computer's provided protective services first, along with a free anti-virus product. The Free Avast service was rated highly by several groups so I downloaded the free Avast. But then the bombardment of advertisements for every sort of paid extra protection services by Avast began. Avast Premium, Cleaner, Anti-Tracker and finally Secure Identity and SecureLine VPN.

Me being a "low technical" person who knows just enough to be dangerous on the computer...stupidly caved to my anxieties and started ordering the paid services. 1) And now wondering why "Avast Premium" doesn't include all the rest. Basically, the pop-ups kept coming and I kept ordering. My Bad. 2) The clincher for me is that the VPN "SecureLine" service asks for one's full social security numbers. At my age I'm quite guarded about giving the numbers out to anyone or group. So I have been trying to stop the subscription of the 30 day "trial". Which would enable me to receive a refund. I have several days left of the 30 day...but have not been able to talk with any support person via their telephone number or "chat support". NO ONE ANSWERS! On either venu. "Heavy call volume" is the episodic recording.

Now 35 minutes. I'm going to hang up and try early tomorrow morning. A question: why the "heavy call volume"? That many people with problems? Or, even with the high prices for services AVAST can't afford enough people in the support department. Not good either way. I consider starting with AVAST a bad choice on my part. Now I'm dealing with the consequences.

Avast constantly bombards users with upgrade icons. I grew tired of their pressure and decided to discontinue my subscription. However, and despite the fact that they state you can cancel you subscription, you can't. IT'S AN ABSOLUTE LIE. When I followed the cancelation procedure a pop-up appeared telling me that I must first talk to an agent via the phone. When I called the number on two separate occasions, no one answered the phone. Finally, when I tried deleting their program off my laptop, it wouldn't as the software was still open. Even the forced app deletion procedure on my MacBook failed. When I turn on the computer to get online it takes me about 15 minutes to have Avast stop blocking my internet and run its processes-this is too slow and intrusive. Also, the biggest problem is that they have stopped allowing you to manage your subscriptions in your account profile and blocked all payment information. I could not cancel the subscriptions. I tried. I had to finally get on an hour long chat with two people in India and push through all the sales efforts to cancel my automatic renewals. I don't like being held hostage by a company for my business. If your product is good then people will want to stay with you and keep using it. Big on the sales end and low on the service end.
