I purchased an international plan. I told them that it was to be able to make calls from Mexico to the U.S. They gladly charged me but when it came time to, calls weren’t going through. I called and ask and they told me the reason was cause they don’t have towers in Mex. I asked for a full refund and they wouldn’t. I told them that they should’ve informed me about that instead of just taking my money.

I received a $15 eGift card offer through email, the link in which did not work properly. I called the customer service twice, both times getting to customer service representatives in Philippines. They spoke poor English, were not able to adequately understand me, were not able to find the offer I was referencing, and were overall useless. Ended up getting the plan at full price.

I enrolled for Auto pay before purchasing air time for my son’s phone a little while ago. I was quoted the discount price on the ‘preview’ screen where I was to list my credit card information for payment. Thinking I would be paying the amount quoted, I completed the payment transaction as was reflected ‘Auto Pay Enrolled’. However, I noticed shortly after the transaction was made, I was charged regular price. I first chatted with customer service who saw the error and referred me to call 1-867-6470 along with a PIN number to reference my account.

Upon calling this number, the customer service representative was very rude to me, and said I enrolled in auto pay after my payment, which is why I did not receive a discount. Ok, so how I would I know the discount price after taxes are applied? It’s only $5 I know, but he would not budge even after I told him the previous representative saw the error on THEIR end! Leaving a review is the only way I’m able to make it public for other potential and/or current Straight Talk customers to be aware of this matter. I have no complaints with the service itself, but customer service goes a long way!

I am a very well educated person that pays most of my bills online & makes purchases online frequently, so I do have some common sense. Obviously, I wouldn’t have made a stink if I would have even remotely thought I enrolled after making my payment! I feel insulted to be treated as if I don’t know what I’m talking about. I immediately unenrolled with auto pay, because after my son’s prepaid plan is over this month, I will be switching to a different prepaid phone provider. I would rather pay a little more each month to have quality customer service than to deal with this type of behavior!

My past few phones were purchased from this company. I’ve used them for several years & not had an issue until my phone died due to no reason (I use an Otterbox Defender case for extra protection on my phone & it is less than a year old). I tried to reactivate an old phone, which was also on my account from previous use with Straight Talk. The website wouldn’t allow me to reactivate my old phone, but instead said they could give me a deal on a new one. I’m struggling financially & can’t afford to buy a new phone. I purposely keep old phones as a backup for this reason. I have lost all respect & loyalty to this company. They are trying to force me to spend more money by claiming incompatibility. This is planned obsolescence and dishonest business practice.

DON'T PURCHASE ANY PHONES OR SERVICE FROM STRAIGHT TALK, you'll be sorry. It might be good in the beginning, but being a customer for 10 yrs they changed.. Poor customer service, poor service period!! They also took most of their service cards out of Walmart. The only cards that are available are the $30 and $55, left. You have to use a debit card to purchase time.. There are other plans and service providers. Also I can't even purchase time for my phone until I upgrade a new phone (purchase a new phone). Then they'll accept my payment. So take my advice, if you don't want interruptions or bad service, then don't go with Straight Talk.. Or find out for your self. GOODLUCK.

I have had Straight Talk for a few years now and have recently traveled out of state (Maine to Bridgeport, Pennsylvania). Somewhere along NY I have lost service. When I contacted customer service all they said was my phone was using a Verizon tower and I just simply won't have service. So I spend 7 days in PA with no way to use my phone unless I find Wi-Fi... This is ridiculous. Correct your map so people know what they are really getting. I'm considering using a different company.

I’ve had Straight Talk for several years. I have myself and my three kids on their service. Lately I’ve noticed my phone calls are dropped or unclear. What really upset me was paying auto pay and finding out my sons phone service was dropped. I called. Only transfer many times to different people who couldn’t communicate clearly. Then I was told his sim card didn’t match the phone and I would have to purchase a new one. It’s the same one that came with the phone almost two years ago and no matter what I said they treated me like I was lying.

Two days later I noticed I wasn't receiving any calls or texts. I called my sister and she said, "Oh hey I didn't know you changed your number!" What? These people changed my number without my permission or consent! When I called the lady said, "Oh I'm sorry. Let me change your number back!" I stayed calm. She said it will change back in 24 hours! The new day no changes!

I called back and same thing same process! 24 hours no changes. I get connected to a manager and I asked him why was my number even changed! He says, "Oh I can't give you your old number so I'm going to give you back the new number!" With an attitude and with no cares! Literally like take this number and be happy! I read a lot of the reviews and what I can see is it just like me there are other people out there being scammed by Straight Talk wireless. I’m actually thinking we should all file in a class action lawsuit. Like seriously. The first time I got the phone how about the card for the first 30 days at work beautifully! Next time I go to refill my service what's 3 days later than my actual payday causing me without a phone for 3 days. So, I bought another card and reactivated on the actual day date of my pay day. The next month again no service except for this time 5 days. Plus I haven't been able to send a single text message since buying his last refill card. And also it says unlimited talk text and data but when you run out of your gigabytes you run out of all of your bare necessities of this piece of crap phone.

No they won't help you yes they will tell you that they false advertise. Yes they will tell you that they lied to you and that no it isn't really unlimited. They actually make a guesstimation of how many gigabytes did they think you'll use a month and if you accidentally go over what they think is appropriate I'll just tell you that you've ran over data even if you can prove you haven't through the phones storage managing. So let's do a class action lawsuit. We all have proof they have scammed tons of people and I don't deserve to keep getting away with it. Email me **. #SurvivingStraightTalk

Contacted Straight Talk and was informed that I had to place the order again, but they needed an additional $30 for the phone even though they cancelled the order. What a way to make money - stop an order then increase the price by $30. It was so easy to fix. They could see the order and the amount - just replace the order. But no. There was a price increase and even though Straight Talk cancelled - I am responsible and must pay additional $30. Is this an unfair business practice?

On the 3rd this month, I updated my service from the $35 plan to the $45 through auto enrollment. Imagine my surprise when 3 days later, I am charged for the $35 plan anyway. The $35 overrode my $45 plan and reset it. I called in immediately to get some help with the situation, and was told that they would reimburse me for the plan, and reset it to my $45 plan. A week later, I had seen no reimbursements to my bank, so I called in. I was told that they would fix it, and I should be seeing the fix and reimbursement within the next two days. I called yet again when, lo and behold, nothing happened. This time, I was told it would be added to my reserve. Okay, I can handle that.

Until today, 5/29, I received a message telling me that my service end date was coming up. I called for the FOURTH time, only to be told that 'No, they were not going to reimburse me or add anything to my reserve, and my service ends in a week.' Had this been my own doing, I would understand. However, this was a mistake on THEIR part. Their system charged me again, and they refuse to fix their mess up. Do NOT go with them if you have the chance. The second my service is up, I am finding a new phone provider. As someone who works with people on a daily basis in the customer service industry, I know how important it is to keep your word. It is even more important to make things right if your system or business is in the wrong. This is ridiculous, and quite frankly one of the worst business models. We initially had great service from Straight Talk, I believe we have been 2 lines for myself and my wife for 8 years. This week I have received a post card that my iPhone 5 is extinct and I must purchase a new phone. This phone for me is “new” as I switched to a “smartphone“ only 2 years ago and I have just figured out how to turn OFF all the stuff I don’t need and accumulate the apps I do. The turning point is when I have tried for 3 days now to purchase one of their phones: the coupon they gave they would not honor with the advertised price: the online check-out absolutely refuses to work. Repeatedly stating “generic error“.

Chat will not help but wants private information to “escalate“ to another location. On the check-out page? NO: Don’t Think So. Call Center repeatedly puts me on long holds: “to look up my account“, once maybe 4 times? Does anyone remember the DNC hack of 2016? There is something very fishy about a company that will not complete a simple sale THEY initiated. Just my 2cts.

The phone costed 100$. You can't activate the phone at all unless you use another phone or have a wifi signal at all. Once activated 60gb unlimited service you only get literally 1 bar of service LTE 4g signal. It's complete false advertising to say you have unlimited access to 1 bar of service on a 4g network when the other plans are exactly the same. Trying to load a webpage with a picture on it from the non wifi phone signal is ridiculous! It's a sham.

On top of that after the 60gb depending if you actually can use the falsely advertising of unlimited 1 bar (basically call only service for a touch phone is appalling) you can't even play a simple game app on the phone 'cause the signal is so poor. Best part is the other phones are exactly the same brand on the shelves with no other options. Don't bother buying this phone at all. I bet the price of this phone if I returned it they would put it back on the shelf. Best not to return it at all just more technology trash for landfills... I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT NOR EVER USE THIS BRAND AGAIN.

Cell phone tower is not even 2 miles away from my current location. Service will not be renewed. Don't pay for a phone that's basically calls only. Good luck using the internet without wifi. This is written from a wifi signal take like 30 mins to load the page with the plan. 100% junk and overpriced. Shame to I expected a actual good phone service I was incredibly disappointed. Specifically says 4g LTE speed you actually get 2g. Or just a little over so they can say 3g.

I have been with Straight Talk for 1 year and 1 month and on Fri May 10th 2019 received a text stating "IMPORTANT: Act today to keep your service running smoothly. Learn more: with a link from them (http://st-w.co/LoRRp01)." This led to a website from Straight Talk with a video saying I had to buy a new phone in the next 6 months as they are migrating to VoLTE service that my phone is not compatible with that VoLTE network upgrade so I must buy a new phone. So after way too much research I discovered that the service I paid to Straight Talk is really Tracfone and they use Verizon as their carrier, and it is Verizon that is making this network upgrade.

I started to look at the so called discounted phones that they say will work on the system after this network upgrade and much to my surprise the very same phone I now have is still being sold on the site with not a single word that it will not work in 6 months just as when I bought my phone a year ago. Not one word of warning. I did even more research and found that Verizon notified all of its subprime network resellers of this system change over 2 years ago. It seems that Tracfone is pulling a scam and Straight Talk is just going right along with it.

It is time we all stand up and say no more. This action by Straight Talk and Tracfone is illegal at worst and immoral at least. So I am contacting FTC and FCC and the BBB to file formal complaints as well as looking into a possible Class action litigation to make sure that Tracfone is not making a huge profit at the expense of the customer. By making them pay for new phones because they sold phones they knew would not work well prior to the average and standard usage rotation by the average wireless customer. Stand up people and take Straight Talk and Walmart to task as well to put pressure on Tracfone to act in good faith as any business is required to do by law here the USA. If we all stand up and flood Walmart the main seller of Straight Talk prepaid with complaints and file complaints with Fed. Trade Commission and Fed Communication Commission.

Don't buy a new phone. Take a stand and make Tracfone provide the good faith business we are paying for. After all they sold and continue to sell phones that they know will no longer work in 6 months without even one word of notice to the consumer. If you wish to join in any future class action for damages to be paid to the consumer. Thank you for reading.

I got a Straight Talk phone in 2017. Brand new. Advertised 8gb of storage, only had 1 gb usable. I was annoyed about the lack of storage, but I lived with it. Data service became spotty, going from 3G to 1X or even nothing at all while I wasn't moving, but that probably happens with every provider. Sometimes I would have to turn my phone onto Airplane Mode and then back off again just to get it to use data again. And it was completely useless if I went out of state, literally crossing a state border would turn off my service (I live in Iowa and this was observed with both Illinois, in CHICAGO of all places, and Missouri) presumably because it was out of my "home area" which may be common with other service providers, I don't know. But whatever. It operated.

Except, now they're saying that my phone, which is only two years old, isn't LTE compatible, and so service will be ending at the end of this year. They're spamming me constantly to buy a new phone, NOW. LTE came out in 2009. They were fully capable of putting LTE in my phone, and chose not to in order to force me to buy a more expensive one down the line after I was already a customer. The joke is on them, I guess; I can't afford a LTE phone, so I'll be transferring to a shared contract with some friends soon. Trying to bully me into buying a new phone has convinced me to take my service elsewhere. Pros: You can end your service at any time with no fees, which is great when you want to leave. The 2gb data plan also isn't very expensive, but it looks like Verizon has the exact same thing for the exact same price, so it's not THAT good.

Cons: Intentionally misleading advertising about storage, they take the cheaper road to screw you over later. Ultimately, not actually a very good option for people on a budget because of this. If I bought a new phone through them now because of the LTE issue, I'd have to pay it off monthly just like any other service provider, and their service is nowhere near good enough to warrant that. The only real benefit over other companies is a lack of contract. You get what you pay for, and Straight Talk is cheap.

The end result does fix the problem and the customer that keeps them with a job still have a unresolved issue.

I'm a long time customer of Straight Talk. Last week I purchased a Galaxy S9+ phone from them for a total of $854. It was so hard for me to use (is very heavy and too big for my hand) and several features either didn't work or were beyond my understanding. I decided to return the phone and have my service switched back to my previous phone through Straight Talk -- a Galaxy S4. I thought I'd at least have phone service while I shopped again for a newer model. That's when the trouble began. Try as I might through literally hours on the phone with customer service, the "port" department, etc. the phone would not work. I worked on and off with Straight Talk from 9am until 10:10pm that night.

The next morning I drove to my brother's house to use his phone so I could work with Straight Talk having the S4 available. 1 hour and 10 minutes later I was told all was fixed and to turn the phone off then on and it would work -- but if it didn't to wait a few minutes and try again. I did....and it didn't. It is now two days later and multiple times through this process I was assured the phone was ready to go just turn it off and back on again.... and I still have "No Service". I was forced to go and buy another phone (this time I opted for the S8 for another $536.00), change my phone number, set up a new account and activate the phone. To sum up: it is very easy to activate phones but don't try to do anything other than activate or buy air time. The rest is a total nightmare. I cannot stress it more emphatically.

This company is by far the absolute worst corporation I have ever dealt with in my life. I have been a customer for 2 years with three phones. Multiply the cost of a phone plan by 3, now times that by 24. That is roughly 2,520 dollars spent on this service. Not including the phone cost themselves that were purchased from Straight Talk. About 3 days ago, my phone with Straight Talk service stopped working. I called Straight Talk and they gave me THE WORST customer service I have ever experienced.

They violated many policies, and implied to me that it is my fault my service isn't working because "I must have switched my original SIM card with someone else's 3 days ago or put it in a different phone." They then gave me a SIM card number that exactly matched the one in my phone but couldn't explain why it wasn't working. Instead they accused me of changing it, meanwhile I have every bill for the past 2 years registered with my phone, number, and SIM card. They refuse to refund me or send me a new SIM card and were very rude. I will be pursuing a lawsuit against "Straight Talk Wireless" which should be name Straight Scam Wireless and I advise everyone to never give money to this company.

Although you pay full retail price for a phone you don’t actually own the phone. Straight Talk requires you to stay with their services for 12 months (consecutive). That’s right pay a bill for a 1-year before they will unlock your phone you paid for. Sounds a lot like a contract doesn’t it? Right! Then Customer service agents are extremely rude and disrespectful. They can’t help you and transfer you multiple times before you speak with someone that tells you they are sending you an email with instructions on how to fix it. So again, no help. If you’re looking for a true no contract don’t buy a phone with them and get it turned on.

I haven't proven this yet, but I'm almost positive that Straight Talk and all the other cheap cell phone services are actually using a VOIP connection which is phone service over the internet and not via cell phone lines. The sound is terrible and it's exactly like the VOIP service. I think these companies are not disclosing it. The only major lines are owned by the big companies, Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T. And by "lines" I'm referring to satellite/air lines. I think these companies are scamming everyone by using technicalities to get around what they are actually providing. I have been with Straight Talk for many years and just recently the service has gotten much worse, most likely due to the amount of users accessing their internet phone servers. This needs to be uncovered and exposed to the media and they need to disclose what they are actually selling.

If you want a clear signal you have to go with actual cell service-and that is provided by the major companies. In order to keep appearances away from Verizon, AT&T and Sprint from appearing to have a monopoly they probably help in keeping the cheap company’s true nature hidden-that way it looks like people have a choice. People paying for any of the cheap cell services are actually talking over the internet. I'm moving to Verizon as of today. I'm not paying one cent to to talk over the internet via an expensive mobile phone. They will be exposed sooner or later. Hopefully people will read my post and spread the word...don't pay money to them, maybe they will go out of business.

I started using Straight Talk back in May since it was one of the cheaper options with Verizon. I never had too much of an issue with it until recently, the only big downside I noticed compared to Verizon was that data was a lot slower. About a month ago I lost my phone so I bought another one, and when I bought the other phone the data was not working with it so I was told to buy another SIM card for it, which I did. I went to Walmart & spent $50-$60 on a SIM card kit & a renewal code. Now, I called customer service about 4-5 times to get it set up since about half of them knew English... one of the calls I supposedly spoke to a "supervisor" who kept asking me over & over again "Do you have data?" when I kept telling him "My data is not working," and he put me on hold then hung up.

When I finally got a hold of someone they told me I needed to buy another SIM card kit... I JUST BOUGHT ONE! They told me that the SIM card was registered under another device which wasn't possible considering I had just bought it. I asked them to send me a SIM card & they said I would have to go to Walmart & buy another kit, or spend $2 on a SIM card over the phone. Keep in mind, I've had a lot of fraud from over the phone, so I prefer not to give my card number through it. I asked the lady why they couldn't send me a less than $2 SIM card for free when I pay them almost $60 every month. They screwed up somewhere in their system with the SIM cards & because of that, they're telling me to pay more money.

I told them I wasn't paying them any more money considering that I had bought a SIM card that didn't work which was on their fault. At this point I was getting frustrated & straight up told the lady "I'm not buying anything from you" & hung up. The same lady (said her name was Jessa or something, claimed she was a manager) calls me back trying to sell me the damn SIM card I told her I didn't want to purchase...

At this point I'm fuming & have already made the decision to switch carriers. The next day I go to the Verizon store to switch with them & it took 2 HOURS to switch over. Why? Because Straight Talk was somehow holding my phone number and would not give me my account number. This poor guy was making phone calls back & forth for me making sure I get to keep my phone number (since I've had it for about 10 yrs now). He spoke to about 3-4 reps before we were able to figure out how to transfer my phone number over. It was a NIGHTMARE!

Overall, NEVER USE STRAIGHT TALK! It's $55 a month for unlimited everything... I'd rather pay an extra $15 a month with Verizon so I can have good customer service & faster data. I've never experienced such bad customer service before. I'm not sure who trains these people or how this company is organized but they have no idea what they're doing.

First, let me say that I have been in retail biz most of my working career and sometimes you have to step out of the box to take care of your customer to keep them as your customer. What I have experienced with Straight Talk is horrible. What has transpired is within 1/3/2019 to now 2/27/2019. Straight Talk Mess: To start with, my Mother is 80 years old and is basically homebound. She has some health issues too. Because of this we want to make sure that she can call 911 if needed and be able to call her family and that we can call her.

My Mother’s house burned down last year. Unfortunately she lost her phone. So, we decided to set up an account with Straight Talk to get her a phone. I purchased a phone and sent it to her in November. By the in of December her phone did not work anymore. Now I live in GA. and she lives in FL. So I called ST and tried to find out what might be going on. They said that I didn’t pay the bill which is wrong because it’s set up on autopay. So, a friend went over to Mom’s place and let her use their phone to call and diagnose what might be happening. After two hours on the phone ST said that it was a bad SIM card and that they would ship her one and she would get it in 3-5 days. This is a standard script for them. Everything is 3-5 days.

Well after two weeks and nothing delivered, I called and found out that they shipped it to the wrong address. I talked to six different people “foreigners” to correct the address. They said they would ship another to her, 3-5 days. After 10 days I found out that they sent it to the wrong address again. So they shipped another and she finally got it. After putting in the card, it still did not work so they said that it was a defective phone. I talked to Juan at ST and he said that because of the situation, he would have a new replacement phone sent to her and when she got it, she was to put the defective phone back in the box and put the return label on and send it back. Then she could reactivate the new phone. Of course he said that she will get it in 3-5 days.

After a week I called ST again to find out what was going on. They said that they sent it and that it was delivered. I go in touch with Mom again and she went to check and there was a FedEx box on the front porch. After opening it, they found that it was an empty box. So she put the bad phone in, put the label on and sent it back. Now after about a week, I called ST again to find out what the process was going to be. They said that they had not received it yet. Put me on hold and checked again. Got back on the phone with me and said that they actually had received it and that Mom would get her replacement in 3-5 days.

OK, after a week I called ST again and they said that they never got the bad phone so they did not ship the new one. They put me on hold to check again because I repeated what I was told that they did get it. They came back and told me that there was a misunderstanding and no update on the case number, but they did get it and she would get the new phone in 3-5 days. After a week with no phone delivered, I called ST again and went through the exact same thing again. I was told that they would ship it out and that she would again get it in 3-5 days. At this time I wanted them to ship it to me and that I would personally take it down to her to ensure all was good. So they now said that they would ship it to me and that I would get it within 3-5 days.

After a little more than a week, I got a package. After opening it up and finding that it was empty. It was a box to ship back the defective phone. I called ST again only to find that they said that I needed to ship the defective phone back to them first, then when they get it they would ship the new phone and should get it in 3-5 days. OMG! So I told them that they already had the phone. So they checked again and found that they had it and apologized for the inconvenience. They then said AGAIN that they would ship it out and I should get it in 3-5 days.

Well here we are over a week later and I called them today to find out what is going on. They are now telling me that they could not ship it because they don’t have any and that it’s on backorder. So, I asked them to just credit me back for the phone and the service month of Jan. that we paid for but could not use because we had no phone. They are now telling me that this is not possible. How can a multi-million dollar company not be able to issue a CC credit to take care of a customer that they have screwed. After almost two months, as of today I still have no replacement phone.

Here is a little more info. Any time I called them, I got someone in a foreign country. Their corporate office is in Miami, FL. So I asked for a phone number of corporate to actually speak to someone that spoke good English and could help me. The number I got takes you out to another country too. I found out that you can not speak to anyone in Miami corporate office and that anyone you call does not have any power to help. As I write this, I’m waiting for another supervisor to call me back to try again to get a refund. I would never recommend anyone use Straight Talk. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. As of today 2/27/19 I have not heard back to settle this situation.

My husband and I have been with Straight Talk for a very long time as well as adding our kids. We have had a lot of problems over the years, but now they're charging us an extra $7.21 PER LINE. Here is the reasoning: "A fee, charge or surcharge to fund state and/or local E911 related programs imposed by law on prepaid wireless users or assessed by us to recover the cost of complying." "This amount is to help recover our contribution requirement to federal universal service." "This amount is to help recover our costs related to complying with government regulations and programs."

These are all costs that WE are paying into that Straight Talk is responsible for. Notice the wording 'us and our'? This is not our responsible to be paying, it's Straight Talk for not complying with laws in the first place and getting in trouble. So now the users are being held responsible for paying their fines. They are now more expensive than Charter, Verizon & AT&T. Why in the world would anyone pay extra for the crap customer service they provide? Switch, it's the best thing I've done. If you're looking for something cheaper give Republic Wireless or Mint Mobile a try. They have caps on data, but that's what you deal with when looking for a cheaper plan. Don't forget, even the big name companies are now cheaper than ST and they do offer unlimited data packages. THESE ARE NOT YOUR FEES AND FINES TO BE PAYING.

I don't want to go over this story yet again and again (I have emailed them and BBB and Attorney General and several reviews) but basically when I purchase the phone I was given conflicting info on the phone and website -so I chose to do a live chat throughout before actually purchasing - confirmed price and payments etc. I saved the transcripts and have everything in writing - what I was buying and what I was paying for- the Straight talk employees on both the live chat and phone call both guaranteed the price and confirmed everything was good. ALL lies. I cannot send back the phone because there is an early payout fee and or a return fee- I have been robbed. Also another HUGE problem is ever since buying the new phone I now receive about 10-15 phone soliciting calls a day - ironic or did they sell my contact information to these solicitors.

After 3 days I actually spoke with someone who resolved my issue and they cut it off AGAIN the next day. They proceeded to tell me I have to buy another refill card or show receipt of the last refill card. Once again I purchased through the app. Last rep used order id and my bank card number. Why Do I have to send a receipt of something you already have. They tried to talk to me like I was slow. One guy hung up on me when I told him I'm a call center rep myself and far from stupid. Now I have to spend more money so my Diabetic son can have his phone for emergencies. Looking for a new service provider. Sad... I have 3 phones through this service.

They refuse to fix to it, they did say they cancelled the charges this time (again) however they refuse to refund any of the money they have been taking. They told me I have to contact my bank. So I'm filing fraudulent charges against Straight Talk for the second time in as many years. I have been using Straight Talk for almost 9 years. Since their phones were lacking, I continually have made use of the "Bring Your Own Phone" plan and usually haven't had too big of a problem with the phones working other than them being time-consuming to set up. I've always elected to be on auto refill. For many months, I've been magically booted out of auto refill wondering why my phone isn't working, but hey, you get what you pay for, right? I thought, well, Straight Talk is cheap enough for me to put up with these headaches. I've finally decided I've had enough.

With my current phone brought to the plan that is "compatible," after it was first set up, the GPS wouldn't work. After several phone calls (and hours), the GPS finally started working after I was told "That should have been switched when you were first set up." Fast forward, GPS works, but now, I am unable to see or send picture messages or use the bluetooth in my car--these are all things that worked while the GPS did not work. I called Straight Talk today (1 month later) to find out that they cannot check these things because I don't have any more high speed data to use. They told me to check my wifi connection.

I explained that there is no trouble with my wifi connection. However, unless I buy more data, they will not look into it because they don't see it as their problem (even though I had plenty of data when the issue started happening). I spoke with a customer service rep and a supervisor. Neither of them were the least bit helpful. After years of struggles, this is the last straw. I can no longer stick with a company that randomly disconnects my phone AND is entirely unhelpful. Even though I love to save money, I will look elsewhere.

The customer service is not helpful at all. They refuse to refund money despite that it was obvious that I did not know it was a reoccurring since I did a month plan after the 3 months. After several years with Straight Talk, I upgraded my phone. New Straight Talk brand phone kept disconnecting from service. No error message showed up. I just realized the hard way when texts wouldn’t go through, or someone who tried to contact me via cell emailed me and I got the message on my laptop. None of the customer service people would advise me to get a new phone until the fourth time this disconnection occurred. Walmart discontinued the phone, but didn’t tell users. Still in the process of returning that phone.

When I tried to order a different phone, the website glitched and placed two orders. Even though I never got a confirmation screen at all, only a screen that said my request couldn’t be processed. They refused to cancel one of the orders, even though this was entirely the fault of their shoddily run website. I now have one defunct phone, and I’m waiting on one hopefully functional phone, along with an additional phone I did not want, that I’ll have 60 bucks tied up in for over a week. Straight Talk is an inexpensive carrier, but that cheap cell service comes at the cost of poor customer service.

As a general rule, I will only post positive or informative reviews - my experience with ST was so bad, I am obliged to go negative and hopefully save a few poor souls the fate I incurred. We've been ST customers (with two accounts) for almost four years, and have no complaints with their BYOD/auto refill service. However, we recently found a new/less expensive carrier and set forth to transfer one of our two accounts at the conclusion of its end date (the second we will move in a few months).

Over a three day period and approximately 14 hours of calls between ST porting dept and the new carrier, we finally got service established with our new carrier. A LOT happened in those 14 hours - with the notes I took, I could write pages of what I am not convinced were deliberate attempts to lie and obfuscate the porting process to our new provider. When our new provider was prepared to complete the transfer process there was always a last minute roadblock. A port was magically locked, or the some detail with the information that was provided to ST from the new carrier became miraculously 'inaccurate.'

My personal favorite was (at about hour 6 of phone calls with ST) I was asked to provide a ticket #, when the previous half dozen customer reps/tech support people, not once, mentioned the need for a ticket number - THOUGH I had asked several times how my issue was being tracked on their end. (I was told the phone # was the tracking method.) It became what I perceived as a never ending circle of lies, ostensibly so that ST wouldn't lose our business. Finally (stupid me) I got the idea to conference in the ST and new carrier rep, and voila...a Festivus miracle! The problems on ST's end seemed to evaporate, go figure?! Hence my warning (borrowed from Hotel California) to all who opt for ST service!!

Reps need better training for upgrade activations. When calling to get a sim card, I ended up buying both CDMA and GSM cards because they weren't sure which one I needed. When I called to activate, she had me try the GSM one first and then she said it wasn't the correct one and to open and insert the CDMA card instead. It didn't work so I was transferred 3 times and was on the phone over 70 minutes. Finally they gave me a case number and a phone number that was good for 2 weeks, in case it took that long to get it fixed. I was assured my old phone would continue to work, which it did not.

The next morning I got up and was extremely angry because I needed my phone to call back but neither worked. I decided to remove the CDMA card and try the GSM card again. I powered the phone back on and sent myself a text which was successful. I got online and LO and BEHOLD the account was reflecting the GSM sim card. I attempted to call the number and it went through. When I told them I changed cards back to the first one tried, he tried to tell me that the problem was with Straight Talk and I needed to put the other one back in. I told them to close out the case because it was working and I was not waiting for two weeks to have them fix "their" system. He thought about it and finally agreed. I wouldn't have even bothered to call them back but the rep insisted that I had to let them know if it was working. Well, it was working but no thanks to Straight Talk.

I attempted to submit this review on the Straight Talk website and received the following response: "Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!" They filter out all negative complaints to their site. Censorship!

They said I had violated the terms of service by just using the data. Literally just using it "too much". I had not used it past 20 gigabites of data 5 more than the $45 plan. I felt robbed. If using data the way it was meant to be used as mobile WiFi is against their terms of service then I feel that they should stop marketing it as mobile wifi. Now each month the refill date moves up a day each month till it is now debiting out my acct twice some months because not every month has 30 days. I think this is a rip off to us customers. Fix the service plans to match the calendar dates! I just had to cancel my auto refill because I am on a fixed income which does not come till the 1st (which some months it comes earlier due to weekends or holidays), Straight Talk's only solution to the issue is for me to sit here without service till I figure out a convenient date to refill that will work with my check monthly.

Seriously? That's the best they can do... I think we the customers needs take their ** back to court, like we done over the unlimited data they cheated us out of. So for those wanting to enroll in auto refill program... Make sure you're not on a monthly income or week to week check, because you won't be able to cover the refill. Eventually the dates will move up till they move up past the date you get paid, especially if your service expires anywhere near 1st week of the month.

After 55 minutes, I asked to speak to a manager, so I was put in limbo for an ungodly amount of time and even though they ignore you, they continue to send warnings that they will end the call if you are not interacting with them every two minutes. She finally told me "that's just our spiel."

After waiting for over 40 minutes for a manager, she told me they would have to call me back. My appointment was for 10:45 PM. I tried to explain that I work early in the morning. She stated that if I wanted the information I would need to take the call... So I did at 10:45 PM. I followed the auto prompts to reach a manager when they called only to get a recording that their office was closed and I would need to call during business hours. Verizon got on the phone with me today and the matter was resolved after 5 minutes. Do NOT go with Straight Talk. Verizon now has a prepaid plan that is less than 1/2 the cost of Straight Talk. I got the callback at exactly 8:00 am this morning which is how we found out they shut down during the time my husband was on hold with them last night. After all of this, we were told this morning that they refuse to unlock his iPhone 6 because he never purchased a SIM card directly for that phone. This is misleading because if you are required to have service for 12 months, that is a contracted!

Their customer service is the worse we have ever had to deal with and so rude and disrespectful. It might have something to do with them outsourcing to a foreign country? They are not forthcoming with the requirements to unlock a phone until you have already purchased it. They are not forthcoming with the details (like purchasing a separate SIM card) needed to meet those requirements. Post on their Facebook and they want you to contact them to “work it out” even though they have no intentions of working anything out, they just don’t want the negative comments on their FB page. Straight Talk phones - where do I start? My 20-year-old son lost his Straight Talk phone in December while out on a horseback ride. We tried to find it, but it quickly became apparent that we were not going to find it and that it was mostly likely under three inches of fresh snow. His friend had an extra AT&T iPhone and offered it to him. He then took the time to travel to Wal-Mart to purchase a new SIM card AND a $45.00 Service pin for the iPhone. When he tried to install it, it wouldn't work.

This is where I come in - I called Straight Talk and spoke to a very nice lady in customer service who said the SIM card had been activated a day earlier and that she would send me a replacement SIM card. I received this card in the mail about five days later. This SIM card install was a success and the phone was up and operating on his previous paid plan. He had a text issuing him a new phone number, but he already had his existing number that he was using. When his phone notified him that his time was about to expire, he tried to add the $45.00 that came with the original SIM card. They declined the service pin.

Being a 20-year-old boy and all, he decided that he didn't have the patience to recoup his $45.00 and bought another $45.00 service pin and added it to his phone without incident. Since my son works for a wage, I thought it would be reasonable to see if I could get the $45.00 service pin that he didn't get to use rolled over to his borrowed phone.

I had the original SIM card number, I had the replacement SIM card number, I had the first $45.00 SIM pin, the second $45.00 SIM pin. I had an original ticket number, I had a reference number, I had the first SIM's underlined UPC (did not have the second SIM's underlined UPC), I had the number they assigned him before they knew he wanted his old number assigned to the new phone - I had everything. Yes, I had everything to prove the chain of events. At this juncture, I have spoken to numerous customer service representatives. Some of these representatives spoke such poor English that I could barely make out anything but "one moment while we review some information." I spoke to Charles, Aubrey, Christian, Albert and Peter and those are the names I could understand. I have spent in excess of three hours on the phone with these customer service representatives.

I was passed from person to person, describing each time the events leading to my call. Each time being told they were looking at the information. During my time spent waiting, I became so frustrated, I thought I couldn't be the only one encountering these issues, so I looked at the Better Business Bureau. I could see that they tallied numerous complaints and they had it broken down into different categories, but you could not view the complaints. I assume that Straight Talk must be one of their accredited businesses. So I continued to look on-line and found Consumer Affairs - WOW, what a list of nothing but negative comments concerning Straight Talk AND, they were citing the same complaints I was experiencing.

As I was on hold with Peter, reading the complaints, it became very clear that I would never recoup my son's $45.00 in any way, shape or form. I couldn't help myself at this point and I told Peter that I see all the complaints logged about Straight Talk in Consumer Affairs. I also told him that I had actually thought about buying four phones for our family to use, but considering the delays and lack of effort to resolve such a simple issue, I would never be buying or supporting Straight Talk again AND, that when my son's service expires. I would rather pay for him to be with a different provider than for him to continue with such a scamming company.

One thing during this entire ordeal that I now realize, is that not once did they ask me for the number I was calling from. In retrospect, I should have taken my husband's offer of $45.00 not to pursue our son's $45.00, I would have been further ahead, less angry and not so disappointed that there are actually companies out there that will do anything in their power to not make things right. What I experienced was not customer service, it was a calculated effort of greed.

The Live chat did mention about trying another phone, but when I said, "No. Thank you", they were gentle about it, compared to previous experiences I've had with others who are in the dept for sales. And so we then said our goodbyes. But Come On!!!

So this cheap phone they advertise in my very honest opinion is just to reel you in like bait on a hook, and then get you to buy a different phone that of course charges more. NO THANKS! The entire idea of getting the cheap phone is because it is cheap in price! If I have to pay for a higher price phone I can certainly AND NOW I WILL, take it to a different company with better applications to offer and such. Thanks, but no thanks! Do NOT waste your time with these people!!! I should have took heed of warning from others that posted reviews! Lesson learned.

Was recently inquired to purchase the 55 dollar plan whereas I always stuck with the 45 dollar plan, I read the fine print. It states that data is restricted at or around 60 gb. Which is beyond reasonable. However I have 3g speeds masked as 4g LTE. I haven't even reached 3 gigs yet and they already killed my high speed. I paid 10 dollars more for the same plan. Try streaming YouTube with data cut. Not fun. Thinking about launching a lawsuit for misleading information and false advertising. I've already gotten two phones. One with the 45 dollar plan, 1 with the 55 dollar plan and literally the buffer rates past high speed are the exact same. You get 4 gigs high speed on both plans and after that, that's it.

They will waste HOURS of your time "checking their system", but will not resolve your problem nor will they credit you for service you pay for but don't receive. I've been with them about 4 yrs. They haven't fixed the issue or made it right. Have had issues since November, They refuse to refund the plan added 2 days ago when service was working. Spent another 3.5 hours with them today with 9 different people repeating same steps only to Supposedly make it to corporate supervisor on for him to say "I can't change policy," and hung up on me. I still have no mobile data and drop calls regularly. Do not be deceived by their cheap plans, they deliberately waste your time by keeping you on line for hours and accomplish nothing in that time.

I went to Walmart in Savannah GA last Monday, and the man in electronics sold me a lesser cost phone by Straight Talk which it is now cutting me off while talking and also won't allow me to answer calls.

Today a lady at Straight Talk told me that since the warranty is out on the defective phone that I was using before Christmas is out of warranty that Straight Talk won't send me a replacement phone, but yet they want me to continue paying for something that isn't usable. Straight Talk is ripping people off. I will be returning the Straight Talk phone that I purchased last Monday December 31, 2018 back to Walmart for a refund. This was my original review to Straight Talk: "I bought this to use while traveling to areas I knew I would not have WiFi. And it worked just fine, UNTIL I needed to get more data. I purchased more data, leaving on the hotspot as instructed, but the new data didn't appear. I finally called, and they did something on their end, told me to turn it off, turn it on. Then it worked again -- for about 10 minutes. Another 1.5 HOURS on the phone with their support and being passed around to 3 or 4 different people, the final solution was the SIM needed to be replaced. I don't have time for that, as I won't be in current location by the time the new SIM would arrive, so I want to return it. Ok, I can do that. BUT, I will NOT be refunded for the 5G that I purchased that morning, because in that brief period of time when it worked, we used 61M. Will never purchase Straight Talk again. The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because when it did work, it was good".

I am now giving them 1 star after receiving the following from them about my review: "Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time! Submit something new. Thanks again, Straight Talk". There was nothing in the review form about any website guidelines. I had no profanity included in my review, so the only conclusion I can come to, is they didn't post it because it was negative, particularly of their service. Maybe others will find it useful here.

Had been dead for days and I had no charger to charge it so no minutes had been used since 12/25/18. On 1/3/19, his plan auto renewed. We both spoke to customer service on 1/3/19 and were both transferred to the "refund" department (in quotes because I am quite sure that no one will ever receive a refund after talking to this department). Anyway, even though no minutes had been used they were not going to issue him a refund. Buyer Beware, read all of the terms and conditions before purchasing a plan. Everything on there is aimed at protecting Straight Talk and not us, the consumer. They cover themselves well. On anything that I have ever had, if you cancel the auto renew/plan/service, I always get at least a prorated amount of money back.

I ordered it from Walmart and paid for it in full. After I received it, I was unable to use it correctly so I switched back to my Galaxy phone. My granddaughter had her iPhone broken recently so I gave her my iPhone 6 since it was not being used. However, the ISP is AT&T so I called and explained the problem, "Could I please get the iPhone unlocked." I was transferred to 4 different people, had a series of 8 phone calls (4 mine outgoing, 4 theirs incoming) and was actually on hold for 3 1/2 hours over the 7 hour period I was trying to get help. The man in the unlocking dept. would only say "Cannot unlock the phone (about 50 times)" and when I finally asked to speak with a supervisor I was told there was not one available. That all happened on 12/26/2018.

Today (12/27/2018) I spoke with Customer Care and was told needed to speak to the unlocking dept at least 15 time and was even hung up on while I was explaining what I had already been through. I was only given reference to the web page for Straight Talk and told to go to the very bottom of the web page and in very small print was the unlocking policy. The first ST employee told me that MEID on that phone didn't exist. I had to call them again then I found an employee that would manually type in my MEID to find it (important step if they can't find your MEID). The Straight Talk employee set up my phone and it was working. I had texting, phone and Internet. I woke up the next day and my phone service stopped working.

I called back and was told I had called to "cut off my service". I was told they gave away my phone number, put it on the $55 plan and cut off my auto refill which I had for years. You have no idea how upset I was!!! I stayed calm and I sat on the phone for at least 30 minutes while he tried to set my phone back up with my number. He finally got it working and I was told they restarted my service and my auto refill would begin again next month from the day I called. They said they would not recharge me but I haven't checked yet. I do not trust anything they say now. BYOP at your own risk because their employees might cut off your phone instead.

So I researched the different service providers in Alaska and found the best one is GCI (still some areas have no reception but no dropped calls). When I switched I had the service for about 40 days and thought well I have a phone that is paid for so I will pay to get it unlocked. I paid 70 dollars just to get it unlocked and found that the company marked as blocked, reported stolen, or lost.

When I called the company all the agent could say is that I need to pay for service for one year before they remove it. So you pay for a phone completely which is costly 150 was what I paid for the iPhone which is now lower. Then you pay for service just to be put into a contract? When the service is no contract, then it should mean the phone is also no contract. I have a spouse who is visually impaired which is why I bought some iPhones. Normally I would not worry about it but I don't have the money to keep paying for iPhone after iPhone especially when I paid these two off outright. I recently have been trying to give my son my Samsung Galaxy S7 that was used with AT&T for his Straight Talk account. The first call with customer service was ok; I was told that I needed to purchase a SIM card for the phone. So, we go to Walmart, but they only have the sets for new customers which include the first month fee. I don't want this seeing how we aren't new customers and I have it set up for auto withdrawal for the monthly payments. So, I call from Walmart and see how I can get just the SIM card. The girl this time (and they are all foreign! lot of trouble with language barrier) tells me the Samsung isn't eligible for Straight Talk. I have to tell her the last person told me that it was and just needed SIM card, so after an hour long conversation in Walmart on my cell, she finally figured out how to order the SIM card for me and mail it.

So about 1 1/2 week later the card comes in and we call to see how to set it up, and again I am told by the foreign customer service rep that my phone is ineligible to be used on Straight Talk. After arguing with her, she finally figures out that she is wrong. So, we start with the SIM card they sent me and guess what! They sent me the wrong SIM card! So, they want to send me another and make me pay AGAIN! I am livid by now, so ask for a manager. This person finally knows something; and is able to connect this card for me. This whole transaction takes 1-2 hours. The phone appears to be working, but then suddenly it reverts back to the old phone and the old SIM about an hour later.

I call, and they say they cannot fix it because the SIM card we just installed on the new phone is now "expired". So, we are awaiting SIM card #2 to come in the mail now. We will see how it goes when it comes in. If there are any more problems, I am going to go to another carrier that can switch my Samsung Galaxy S7 to their service without a problem. I would not recommend Straight Talk because of the horrid customer service.

I hope someone at Consumer Affairs will contact me with urgent help. I am from South Africa. I arrived in Orlando USA on Friday 7 Dec 2018. As I will be traveling through various areas, I went to Walmart and purchased a Straight Talk Wireless Kit for 45USD. This is a costly purchase for me. I mainly require mobile data for my travels. I activated this service on my mobile phone on Saturday morning. The pack contains 3 SIM cards. I first used the AT&T sim card. This gave me instant data, text and calls service. I could not activate the HotSpot so I called the Straight Talk Customer Support. The agent told me that the AT&T card is not compatible with my iPhone from South Africa so he deactivated that sim and activated the Verizon sim. Once disconnected, and after switching the phone on, I had no data access.

I then called the company several times (6 to 7 times) from about 10 am until about 2 pm on Saturday, speaking to various agents, who were troubleshooting the problem, then transferring me to higher departments and corporate office and every time they troubleshoot, we have to end the call, reboot the phone, then call them back, speak to a new agent and start all over. I am now also told that I cannot reactivate the AT&T sim as once deactivated, it cannot be activated again. I cannot get a refund even though this was not my fault that the product does not work for me. I spent over 4 hours chatting to various agents whilst I am suppose to be enjoying my vacation here. Different agents give me different information. It’s now Mon 10 Dec. I am out of pocket with 45USD and no access to data. I have now been reading up on this company and find only bad reviews.

I always thought of the USA to stand high for customer protection. Why is this company allowed to operate with such products and no recourse for customers and why does Walmart support such companies? I cannot spend further time on this, so I will have to spend more money later and go to AT&T directly. All I want is my 45USD back or for them to offer me a quick solution to resolve my problem. They are not offering me any such solution and merely transferring me to higher departments for more and more troubleshooting with no solutions.

The refund dept did offer me a new AT&T card to be mailed to my resort but only in 5 working days, which does not assist me as I urgently require data and cannot wait. When I called on Sunday to take up the offer of another AT&T card, they are now asking me to purchase a new card. Please can someone out there help me urgently.

I truly hope this review will save at least one person from the hardships I encountered by using Straight Talk Wireless. Straight Talk Wireless may be "cheap" but you get what you pay for. Cell Service drops quite often, once you use about 2 GB of your data it slows down to extremely slow. You are unable to stream music, videos, let alone send text messages in a timely manner. Unbeknownst to me, once you purchase a phone through Straight Talk, that phone is locked into ONLY Straight Talk service for a whole year. Regardless of your happiness with your current plan or your desires to change services. I purchased a $500 iPhone through Straight Talk and not once did the sales representative inform me of this absolutely obscene "rule."

My due date to renew service changed every month. It started out on the 13th of every month. Two months go by and it changed to the 12th. Another month goes by it changes to the 11th. And so on until this month it was due the 9th. When I inquired about the change and that it did not include a full 30 days of service, I was told to "look at a calendar and count the days," that I was receiving 30 days of service. Which I was not. One month was only 27 days of service. Another only 29 days. I inquired 3 times about this issue and again was told it was because "some months have 30 days and others have 31," as I am just a complete idiot. They slowly rip you off of days of service.

Getting ahold of a human representative is literally impossible. You must go on their website to "chat" with a deplorable human who clearly dislikes their job. They were rude and unhelpful every time I reached out about my service. After 11 months of service through Straight Talk I decided to switch back to Verizon. After starting the Port process and putting in the Verizon SIM card, I realized a problem afoot. I had to take my BRAND NEW phone into Verizon for them to tell me it was "locked to Straight Talk only" and there was nothing anyone could do about it because that is Straight Talk's "rule." I was forced to buy an entire new phone, case, and screen protector, otherwise I would be phone-less until who knows when. So, now I am stuck with a brand new, unusable phone and out over $900 because Straight Talk is Straight **. PLEASE DO NOT USE STRAIGHT TALK.

Well It didn't work so I asked to talk to someone and they explain I can't use a gift card. No problem that's fine. I get my debit card and pay for his plan and think nothing of it.

Here we are 2 weeks later I remember I have that gift card. I go to use it to buy something online. It says, "Decline". So I look up the balance and it shows that Straight Talk took $56.52 off but I already paid for this with my debit card because I was told gift cards wouldn't work so I figured my husband's phone would have a reserve card since I paid for 2. Nope no reserve. I call Straight Talk. They transfer me 2 times each time explaining what happened again... The guy tells me he WON'T give me a refund but he will give me a reserve refill. Ok cool. Well no he didn't do anything. I call back and get transferred twice again every time having to explain myself.

The last guy I talked to asked me my phone number and what he could help me with. I tell him and hear nothing. Just silence. So I say hello, he takes me off mute, and says, "Yes searching." Something puts me on mute again for 15 minutes and never comes back. I get sent to some recording that says I need to give them a sworn affidavit saying that I am not lying and a bunch of other garbage. I will NEVER use Straight Talk again. They are a horrible company.

Previous Verizon customer Galaxy S6 locked to Verizon. Changed the SIM to what Straight Talk provided. Phone immediately started having problems. Random restarts at least twice a day. Refuses to accept incoming messages, but gives no indication of such. Leading to continuously pissed off co-workers and friends, when they sent messages I never receive. Continuously dropped calls in the exact same location that I've NEVER dropped calls on with Verizon. Slow as ** data it's completely unusable. And I'm convinced and suspect the SIM card has somehow broken my phone with the random resets, extreme battery drain, and broken apps. Straight Talk isn't worth $5 a month...let alone $55.

Switched in April 2018. First sim card lost in shipping. I received a smashed and torn box with no sim card. Was treated as if I was trying to get an extra sim card. Finally got card in May. First month ok. Second month started to receive notifications that my service had expired, then would shut off data. Phone would work briefly if rebooted, but within three minutes I would receive notification that my service had expired. Made dozens of calls to customer DIS-service and was hung up on, transferred until call dropped, or tried to explain my problem to someone who barely understood the English language.

My phone has been useless at least 75% of the time I have had this "service". DO NOT switch to Straight Talk or any other service offered by Walmart, as they are all owned and operated by the same useless company. Spend the extra money for Verizon or another major phone carrier. Straight Talk Wireless is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. Bought an iPhone 6 at Walmart because a friend of mine just bought one as well. She was able to install her SIM card from Verizon and the phone worked just fine. When I installed my SIM card from T-Mobile, the message stated I needed to have my phone unlocked. When I called customer service she took my IMEI and transferred me to tech support to have my phone unlocked. While waiting for a callback, I loaded all of my information into the phone. When someone finally called me back, they immediately told me that my phone is not eligible to be unlocked. I'm thinking that this company is allowing some service provider's access - such as Verizon, but clearly not T-Mobile. I feel discriminated against. Also, their customer service reps should have known better and told me up front without wasting my time. Spoke with supervisor Jose who was not helpful and said "I just work here." Not nice.

I have been with Straight Talk for quite some time now since 2013. As of now my relationship with ST has been tolerable, honestly, they offer cheap service and you get what you pay for. I brought in my own phone and phone number to save money. I did ($570 as of Nov 2018), but if it wasn't for my company giving me a phone I probably would have left a long time ago.

Don't expect good customer service, because they will send you from one department to another and give you the run around if you ask to speak to management. They will make sure to double charge you in a billing cycle and end up having to pay 13 billing statements in a year instead of 12 the way good business should be. They will not offer you refunds, so good luck with that. Their phone reps all sound the same and are extremely rude. Be prepared to be hung up on, ignored, and also put on hold for a very long time (1h:15m:31s) was the amount of time spent for a requested refund and they just hung up on me).

Phone service is very low, below standard..calls drop off and I can't get service in about 80% of the places that I go. Now that I'm doing a little better financially, I'm cutting ties with them in January of 2019. In my opinion, do what you can within your means, but just keep in mind that this should be a stepping stone for a wireless provider. Eventually, you should graduate to something better.

I rarely go over 2gb of data so I've always paid $35 a month. I've recently been using IHeartRadio at work for about 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, so I upgraded to $45 a month for the extra data. Two weeks into my service the data is COMPLETELY shut off, no apps work, only calls and text. The only thing I could find is Straight Talk does this on purpose with their clogged 4g LTE network.

The only way it worked for me is to switch my network mode back to CDMA which is 3g SPEEDS! Apps suddenly started working again, but at a slower pace of course, and as soon as I switched back to LTE everything stopped working again. 12 hours later my temporary ban from LTE has been lifted by Straight Talk's automated system. WARNING don't use your phone's data at a limit greater than what they allow or they will shut you off like they own you. Long-time coming, switch out of this company because they are no longer a good deal like they were 8 years ago, just a regular scamming company, based overseas so they can ** you.

This was only two days after my plan renewed. Thanks to Verizon I was able to get a new phone, plan, and better service beforehand but I’m still out of $60. Had I known that this company doesn’t do refunds, I would not have joined.

They offered to cancel my service and sell me another phone as if I wanted to stay with them. Why are you able and willing to cancel my service but not refund my money on to my debit card? It’s a scam, they only wanted me to buy a new plan altogether or a new phone. T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint are higher but better. Service goes in and out, as well as the “4G” data. Two weeks later I called them and they said it had been unlocked; still no confirmation email received.

I proceed to go get service from another provider and the agent there said I couldn't get their cell phone service because my phone was still locked with Straight Talk. I have been sitting on hold for over an hour with Straight Talk trying to get my phone unlocked again. This has been nothing but a huge consumption of my time and limited patience. It is on the Verizon side of the cellular spectrum so I get a great signal at my house. So I can't complain about that part of the service.

Knowing it would be better to sign up for autopay, that's what I did so I wouldn't have to buy phone cards at Walmart. I get a monthly email telling me it is time to be renewed, then another once they deduct the fees. So far, no issues with autopay at all. When you sign up for autopay, Straight Talk gives you loyalty or rewards points. You can use those points to buy plans for your cellular service. Here's the hitch; you CANNOT use those points for their home phone service. They are only good on their monthly mobile phone plans. I have around 6,000 rewards points for being with them for years... and they are worthless.

When I asked Straight Talk to explain why I couldn't use my points for service on my home phone, no one could provide me with an answer other than to say no, it doesn't work that way. Nowhere on their website does it say you cannot use your rewards points for home phone service. I had to call and I finally got an answer. And while I have family members who use Straight Talk mobile phone service, they (the company) will not allow me to transfer my points to them to use. I contacted Straight Talk on the 17th and talked to a supervisor and a supervisor above him and they told me that they could give me 7 days which is what I lost after I told them that Verizon was given their customers three months. I called back today which is the 29th and talked to a supervisor and asked why I was not extended my 7 days like I was told. They had proof that I had called. They saw where I was transferred to a another manager but evidently the manager chose not to input my information into my account so I was declined getting my 7 days and told by this supervisor I was speaking to, that she was unable to do what the other Supervisor was going to do.

I've been with Straight Talk since 2009 when they had really crappy phones and I've grown with them since they've got really good phones. I like their service plan but I am completely blown away by their horrible customer service especially after this huge Devastation that we've had in our area and being unable to contact family members without having to drive 30 miles. The supervisor that I spoke to tonight was basically calling me a liar saying that, "Well if they would have said they were giving you the seven days it should be in their history but it's not there." Bottom line is I will be leaving Straight Talk after my current month is up and I'm hopefully able to find a better or another service prior to having to refill my family’s phones.
