So after waiting for over a week for an email with shipping information I finally called Straight Talk back. Even though I knew for sure it would be a ** show... So here goes. I bought a phone about a year ago and had zero problems, until one day it just quit for NO reason. My initial issue was resolved and they sent a refurbished phone within a week. Well, the refurbished phone didn't work properly and I couldn't hear people through the speaker on my phone. So I called back and tried to get the issue resolved and here's where the fun starts.

Even though all over the box they sent the refurbished phone in it said "90 day warranty" after 2 hours with their customer service I was told that didn't matter and they couldn't do anything because their system wouldn't let them. Asked to be switched to a supervisor and was "conveniently" disconnected. Called back and asked for a supervisor after explaining my entire situation again, and was connected to a "supervisor" who gave me a FAKE ticket number!!! Seriously?!?

So after waiting a week for the email they were supposed to send I called today and was told that the ticket number was no good, basically called a liar and no resolve to my issue at all! So now I'm out a phone and I will NOT be using this company again!!! I also have 3 other phones on Straight Talk plans for my family, but once their month is up I will NOT be buying any more phone cards for their phones either! I am appalled they went to the lengths to give out a fake ticket number and to conveniently keep disconnecting phone calls in hopes to aggravate me so bad I wouldn't call back! Worst company ever, stay far, far away!!

You go to the store and see this great deal in prepaid phone service. You talk to the sales rep and they sell you the phone. They set it all up for you. You have issues and blame the phone so a year or so later you buy a new phone again. It’s set up at the store. You get home and still have tons of issues that are never resolved so you get on a regular phone plan. Then you find out that Straight Talk refuses to unlock your phone that you bought because you haven’t carried service on it for a year!!! It’s yours it’s paid for but they refuse to unlock it. You explain it’s your only phone and you can’t so much as call 911 on it and they refuse to unlock it. If my infant son gets sick I can’t call the dr. If he gets hurt I can’t call an ambulance.

I am stranded with no contact to the world. I was told by customer service that the clause is in the terms and conditions but you can’t read those without purchasing the phone and setting it up but once opened the phone is unreturnable. How is that fair!!! If I am not told something till after I own the phone but I can’t return it then, I feel like I am a victim of fraud and yes theft because prepaid is not what is meant when you use Straight Talk service. It is a 12 month contract. Or you’re wasting your time and money. All I want is my phone unlocked. I bought it. It is completely paid for but Straight Talk won’t unlock it as if they own it in some form or fashion. I didn’t rent my phone from you. I bought it!!!

It's throttled down. After a very short time then go from A video speed of not 420 or 380. Nope! Cannot even get it to play at 240! How about 144!!! Yep. At this video speed/bad audio you get all of it YOU WANT.

Between the 4 times I called over a replacement phone they already had my one I had to begin with. I was told IF I WAS TO SHUT UP THEY COULD TRY TO HELP. I had several CSR that didn't know anything and would just transfer me or lie to me. Corporate offices were the worst. I was hung up on 3 times for no reason. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. They DO NOT want to issue a refund either.

Straight Talk will say they are a no contract company but when you buy their phones they have them locked so you have no choice but to do cell service with them for 12 months. SCAM!!! I purchased two phones at Christmas for gifts and my son can't get his phone activated with his carrier. Straight Talk will not return money.

Worst 'customer service' ever. I was lied to on 2 major issues when purchasing the phone and they absolutely will not help. First the salesman showed me that the 'hotspot' on his Straight Talk phone worked well. The $459 Galaxy S7 phone I bought will not allow it. I called, wrote, texted Straight Talk and they said if I used hotspot they would terminate my number and service!!! What?? I would not have bought an ST phone if they told me it could not have a hotspot. Instead they want me to purchase another device and pay ANOTHER monthly fee!! Second, the salespeople (plural) said the first month was part of the purchase price and when I went to activate it, Straight Talk said they would not unless I paid a second time for the first month!! Liars, liars liars.

These people have the nerve to sell me a Alcatel Nova LTE phone that has 1.2 Gigabytes of storage space and the phone comes with 1 gigabyte of preinstalled factory apps, which leaves .2 gigabyte remaining! Yes not even a quarter of a gigabyte left. I paid only $10 for the phone, and it was for my 12 year old daughter for Christmas. She could download only 2 apps and the phone would not even update after this due to low storage space! I called Straight Talk because any phone you buy from them is suppose to have a 30 day warranty with them and I was told if I used the original box the phone came in delivered by Federal Express, I could take the phone to any FedEx location and this sticker on the box is suppose to be recognized by FedEx, and they would ship the phone back to Straight Talk at no charge to me.

So I called Straight Talk back 2 days later and asked them instead of me shipping the phone back, was there any way they could just send me a 4 gigabyte memory card for extra storage because my daughter like this phone and the only issue we have with the phone is the storage space. So I was redirected to a different department where I was not only denied the gigabyte memory card. I was also told that the first Straight talk agent I spoke to 2 days prior when I called, did not know what she was talking about, because I was now being told that, despite the fact that straight talk is selling phones with no extra storage space to download any extra apps other than what is preinstalled on the phone. But now I would have to pay for the shipping fee to ship the phone back! Are you kidding me?

I have never heard of anything like this in my life, and I honestly don't think that a company can legally sell a phone with at least a memory card installed to allow extra storage space. How can they get away with this? If anyone knows anything about this that would be helpful, I would really appreciate it. It's bad enough that they are the only carrier. I've ever seen that in order to use their smartphones you must buy their $45 plan at the very minimum, and anything less than that will not work. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts

I purchased a Straight Talk iPhone for my son for his birthday. The first month which is now, Straight Talk help activate the phone as well as helping adding the service plan on the phone. The plan is about to expired. I went to Walmart and purchase a new monthly refill card. scratched the service pin number and use the web to load it to my son's phone. It did not work. I tried loading using 611611, got error. I call 611 number and got to customer service. She asked for the service PIN number. I provided it to her. She then told me the is PIN# has not been activate. She will submit the order to her management and to call back in 24 hours.

I called back today, get to customer service person by the name of Michael. He told me the same thing as the other customer rep. He went further to tell me that to take the plan card back to Walmart and buy a new one. I told him before I do that, I wanted to make sure that it is the Service PIN that is not activate and not my son phone itself. I told him that I would try to load the same Service PIN that was not working on my son's phone and load it to my mom's phone. The service PIN worked. It refilled my mom's phone with the same Service PIN that was not working for my son's phone. So I told him, it is not the Service PIN, it is my son's phone. He said he did some adjustment on his phone.

Next to back to Walmart and get a new service plan and try again. I asked him if there is any ticket number for the call that I just made so that if it still does not work again, I don't want to back and explain the whole thing over again. He started get mad and get curt with me and then hang up. I like Straight Talk and have been on it for 2 years now. I have my mom, my husband, my son as well as myself on Straight Talk. It is a lot of money that they made from just my family and this is the customer service they provide me? Unbelievable! They need to retrain their customer service employees.

I have been a long time customer of Straight Talk wireless and the customer service has always been average but, after this experience with them I see now the company could care less about the service they provide to their customers. I did a number change a week ago but my old number was still showing when sending text messages to other people. Of course, I called. The first representative I spoke with was not very much help but, she did explain to me that she would set up a call back for me so someone else would be better to assist me. When I received the callback it was from a “supervisor” by the name of Nicki. After I explained the issue to her and she asked me a few questions for verification purposes she asked me for the IMEI number. I gave it to her she asked for additional information that I gave to her and she told me that what she had in the system did not match what I was giving her.

I explained to her that the phone that I have was purchased through them and this is the only phone I have. She then got loud with me and told me that I was wrong. When I started to explain to her that the phone that I have now is a replacement from the insurance company from the previous one that had gotten damaged and that she just may still have the information from the old phone. I was cut off mid sentence and yelled at and once again told that I was wrong. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she told me angrily that she was a supervisor. I told her that I do not appreciate the way I was being talked to and the customer service that was being given was subpar, disconnected the call. This company deserves zero stars. Not only for this last experience but for the lack of knowledge and customer care that their very inadequate representatives have for the customers. I will not be continuing my services with this company.

I've been with Straight Talk since the beginning. I have no complaints on the actual services they provide and offer. They offer the best pricing, plans, and carrier service than any other in my area. Bottom line they continue to grow and expand on what is offered and what you can do. The complaints about a certain phone that is using the Straight Talk wireless network should be directed at the phone manufacturers. I've owned Nokias (best one was the E71), Sony, Huawei, Motorola, and my current phone a LG Stylo 2. (Worst phone for storage and ability to move downloaded apps to a SD card. Keeps logging me off and freezing up because of the limited space it has internal. The phone itself is only a 2 out of 5 stars, this rating doesn't reflect on Straight Talk as they did not make the phone, LG did).

My next phone is ordered and will be a Google Pixel 2 XL. With the new $45 plan bringing the data service back up to 10GB or the all new $55 everything unlimited plan will give the new phone I'm getting or any phone you have the ability to stretch its legs and do what they are designed to do. I've never had an issue with Straight Talk or even its parent company; Tracfone who've I've had service with when they began coverage in my area. Only issue I've ever had was the loss of cell service after a bad storm and it taking an extremely long time to get service restored. Tracfone & Straight Talk have continually learned and grown with the challenges and changes of technology over the years and have stayed within a budget to maintain and offer a quality of wireless network & internet service that other providers continue to raise pricing for and lowering standards of what's being offered.

No company should ever be rated 5 stars, as it keeps them from thinking they are at the top and don't need to improve upon what they offer. So remember that call quality, your data limits, and call reception signals are more what you want from a cell phone provider than the color of your phone or how well you can sling a bird in angry birds. As those details are a part of who makes the phone you are holding in your hand, not the strength of you signal that Straight Talk offers in its services. If you want a no contract, use any phone you want, have a limited income and want enough data to get online and to play games. Then Straight Talk is the service you need and should be using.

2 times I have had issues with service in the last 2 months. Both times I was told that there was nothing they would do. Today I was having issues with making and receiving calls and no internet usage. The call issue resolved about noon the internet issue finally at about 3 pm CST. I called them just after my calls started working. The robo voice that walks you through your options said "most issues can be resolved by turning your phone off and then back on. Please try this while we connect your call".

I am calling with issue that I am having with the phone I am calling you about. I was told by a person that I should make sure my phone is updated, I am on the phone with no internet no wifi how is this helping. I finally asked if they could check if there are outages in the area. She acted like this never occurred to her at all. After she told me no issues with the area I told her, "Thanks for no real help" and hung up. After I got internet back I did find where they had cut a line to a tower near me and it had caused several issues with service. Use this service if you must but know you are on your own if anything goes wrong.

I have been talking to headquarters in Miami Florida about a situation I have been having with non working phones, and thought it was funny that when I emailed Steven Ritter (Executive Vice President) he called with a blocked number, and then called again without being blocked, so when I attempted to call back he hung up, so I called again, and he answers, and I say, "Did someone call?" His reply I think I had the wrong number. Ummm... Caller if says Tracfone Wireless, and it was your direct line, and then after I call him out on that he decides to let me know it was him. This is by far the worst company I must deal with. The agents are very unprofessional, and I think the media needs to get involved with the mockery of what you guys deem as a company! I have been transferred to several departments and the third to last one which was the refunds department, the agent said hello, put the phone down, I could hear everything on the other end... The person then decided to push the buttons on the phone numerous times to annoy me to have the call disconnected then realizing that I was determined to remain, the agent disconnected the call. I have been dealing with this issue from December to which I have been very nice and if I haven't made mention of having the law involved just a moment ago on a call I had, the matter would not have been halfway in the process of getting resolved. You guys will be hearing from me very soon. Preposterous!

When I called to find out what happened it took seven calls because the customer service reps kept acting as if they could not hear me which I turn found out that they didn't know how to explain what data pending meant. I also spoke with a supervisor that also would not respond to me saying hello about we talked for several minutes on this issue. I called back yet again. Spoke with a lady and told her to just shut my service off and she did so without asking me any questions or having any concerns of losing a paying customer. I found them all to be very rude and none of them knew how to do their job! I paid $50 for 3 hrs of their service. What a rip off. I purchased a Straight Talk mobile data device in November of 2017 and a 1gb 30 day plan to try it out. It worked very well and I bought a 2 gb plan in late December. That same day I hooked it up and was online for less than an hour reading my email and checking some offroad websites. Today I used it for the second time and after less than 5 minutes it kicked me offline.

After trying to reboot it and spending hours on the phone with customer service I was told I had used all my data which is impossible. The first plan I bought was half the data and I didn't use all of that in an entire month. Less than an hours use and I used 2 gb of data and there is no argument. Straight Talk says that's what it is and there is nothing I can do about it. It's only $25 but being ripped off is being ripped off. When I logged on my account with them you are supposed to be able to see what your account balance is but that feature was not working today. I was with Straight Talk for 5 years without any problems. I paid for the next month when due like normal on 11/26/2017, on Friday 12/8/2017 my internet service was turned off by Straight Talk. I called them and was of course transferred to several people who said I had already used my 10GB and I told each of them that I didn't. I finally was put in touch with someone that the checked my actual usage outside of the system and my actual usage was 841.9 MB so they "fixed" it? Sunday the same thing happened and it was "fixed" again and that I used 30MB. I asked why this was happening and please fix it. The lady told me it was a glitch on my account and it couldn't be fixed, but if I had any additional issues to call back and they would be happy to help me. Then the internet stopped working late Monday night, they were closed when I called so I called the next morning at 11:30am.

They were not happy to help, they told me that I had used 30GB of data from Friday to Monday, I told them I didn't and gave them the exact usage I used per the other employees on Friday and Monday and total it was less than a GB. I was on the phone with Straight Talk Tuesday from 11:40 am until 9:11 pm. I was hung up on twice, transferred and disconnected 3 times. I spoke to over 10 people, I lost count. They would only tell me to buy more cards to refill the data. I told them no, that I had only used 1GB give or take a few MB from the card I purchased so I was not making another purchase until 12/26/3017. I also received a hotspot device from them on Friday 12/8 and had to purchase a separate card of data for that since they have the Hot Spot on their customers’ phones blocked so it cannot be used.

I called about that on Tuesday also, spoke to several people and then a person in the refunds department checked the actual usage outside the system and "fixed" it and he told me I didn't use the 1GB I purchased with it, my actual usage was 600 and some MB. I knew that number was more than I used. He did reset the data on the Hot Spot and had told me he would check actual usage on my phone data at the beginning of our conversation, then after he fixed the Hot Spot he refused to and transferred me on to someone else.

A very long story short, I switched to Verizon post-pay on Wednesday with a really good unlimited plan, they have 3 of them, no contract on my plan and it is Not Pre-Pay, I also received a free ASUS phone and a free SIM card to replace the one I had used for Straight Talk for my iPhone so I can use either or phone or I can add another line if I choose to and use the iPhone on it. I am pretty upset with Straight Talk, I am on a limited income and like many have to count every penny and do not appreciate being ripped off especially after being a customer for at least 5 years. Also, Straight Talk now has an “Unlimited” plan for $10 more but it isn't unlimited, read the fine print. It says you get the same 10GB as the $45 plan.

However, with a ping test returning 1321 ms, download speed of .05 Mbps (YES, THAT'S POINT ZERO FIVE Megabits) and .02 (POINT ZERO TWO) Mb up speed. Straight Talk hotspot is MUCH slower than dialup and there's no way on earth a person can work with that poor quality. Now I'm out all that cash for the hotspot and plan and have no way to use it to help generate revenue. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.

Well I finally got it to work but now I can't get my number transferred. I am very aggravated by them, ** customer service. The person I talked to to try and get this all figured out with couldn't get my address right even after telling him one letter at a time. Now I get a phone call saying that the account number I gave them is wrong for my number!!! Their number one problem is they need to get fluent English people to work the phones so that we can understand them and they can understand us, that is the number one problem. As soon as my one year is up I’m going straight back to AT&T, if I even get my phone activated.

It is the worst service you can have for a phone company. Most of the people working for this company has no damn clue of what they are doing. Most speak very bad English or can't understand English. It's cheap labor I get it, but get someone that knows what to do. Straight Talk needs to be banned until they can get it together. I am going back to paying the high cell bills. My cell worked 24/7 365 days a year. With Straight Talk you are lucky to get a working phone or network for your phone to connect up to so you can talk to people. The worst you can get when it comes to cell service. I have just recently moved over to Straight Talk and I am already regretting it. I have had the service for two weeks and only been able to use it for a week. I went to Wal-Mart and got a BYOP sim because I had an unlocked phone and things and everything switched over just fine. I went to Wal-Mart a week later and bought a Straight Talk S7 and went to put my already active sim into it, would not work. So contacted the company and was told that I had to use the sim that came with phone and transfer my number yet again.

Well unfortunately I misplaced the nano sim card that came with the phone so I contacted them again and was told that they will send me a new sim. I ordered it on Tuesday November 27th and was told it would be here by Friday Dec 1st. So two days later I get an email saying it has been shipped with a tracking number. The email said it was sent through FedEx, but when you entered the tracking number they had no such number. I contact Straight Talk yet again. I was then told they sent it through USPS and tell me it would be here on Saturday December 2nd and still not here. Call back again and told it would be here on Monday December 4th.

Next I bring up the factor that this now puts me at week with no service I have paid for, one time I am told when I receive the new sim they would add an extra week onto it and the next person I talk to tells me they can’t do that. This is so irritating that I get a different answer each time I talk to someone and all I get is an "I am sorry". That does not cut it when you have taken my money, but I can't use what I paid for. This was a huge mistake and I would give it zero stars if I could.

I have been a loyal Straight Talk customer with auto payment on my multiple lines for years. Recently, Straight Talk allowed my ex husband, who has never been on my account, to have a SIM card sent to his address to activate another phone, which deactivated one of my numbers and removed the auto payment from that line. I spent more than four hours on multiple occasions, with five different Straight Talk representatives in order to get the issue resolved and get my old number back. During that process, my daughter was without her number for a week while they sent us a new SIM card.

Needless to say, I was irate about the experience. I sent a letter to corporate expressing my concern about their lack of security measures that allowed this to happen. I was told that as long as someone can answer my questions correctly, they can make changes. I explained that after being in a relationship for twenty years, there is not much personal information that an ex-spouse does not know, that perhaps they should come up with some better security questions, that their representatives should consider the fact that a male is requesting changes on a female's account, asking for something to be sent to a different address than is listed on the account, and discontinuing auto payment which has been on the account for years. This should all be a red flag!

At that point, they should take additional measures to verify that this is acceptable with me by calling, emailing, or texting like credit card and other companies do. Instead of acknowledging that this was unacceptable, that new security measures need to be taken on their part, and offering me compensation for all of my valuable time that I had to waste to deal with the results of their lack of security, I was told that I should change my security questions. Be aware that Straight Talk does not have proper security, is not interested in making positive improvements, will not take responsibility for their own failings, does not care about customer satisfaction, and because of language barriers with their representatives, issues will not be resolved easily. I plan to continue to spread the word of my experience and to look at other possible options to move my three phone numbers too.

I have had mostly good experiences with these companies but there is at least two major points I dislike about them and I feel these could be rectified. They make it nearly impossible to find a hotspot in stores (older model issue)... which forces you to have to order it and wait 7 to 14 days... UNACCEPTABLE! If you only contract via WALMART then make sure they have your hotspots in-stock on the floor. I searched for 5 days within 38 miles of my home and could not find a single store who had a UMX U240C in-stock... and yet this is the only hotspot choice I have for the plan I am on via your companies.

And please do not blame Walmart. They will sell out of this as soon as it is in-stock... so do not blame the POS sellers. I feel this is a way to control who buys the devices -- if they can only be purchased via your company online and you require all this personal information to even order/ship them... that is CRAP... just offer them in store. Do not make it hard on the consumer and never require them to order from you online and expect them to wait 7 plus days.

Yes, it is an older hotspot but it is the only one you allow to be used with some prepay plans so they should be available in store somewhere if they are the ONLY option allowed for use with specific plans. The stores involved cited you do not send them these units -- they have to special order them which is a bad thing for me as a customer who needs it today. When I asked the store if it was due to limited space in the stores or the fact that it is an older model -- I was told no, it has to due with how you limit the supply to them. I was told they sell out of these units as fast as they do get them into the stores. But yes it is a practice to hawk the latest newer model hotspots.

So those facts make me reconsider why that is a practice that your companies engages in. I do not like the most logical reasons that I have come up with for this behavior. Cut the crap and just do the customer right. Obviously privacy is a major concern if a person prefers prepay plans so stop trying to cull their personal information via forced sales orders.

I had been using ST for nearly 10 years and I always kept paid up. While I was in the West Texas and East NM Oilfields as a truck driver; I found it necessary to buy a ST Hotspot so that I could have expensive Internet since no low cost service was provided by anyone. I very quickly discovered that ST was shorting me 500 MB of data which was shown on their very own site. My choices were to wait a few days or a week for my auto-pay to make another payment to them, or to pay promptly for more service. Naturally: I complained. Customer Service had the gall to tell me that I was out of data even though their own site said otherwise! I was forced to pay for more data even though I had 500 MB remaining because they lacked any competition in that area of this country unless you chose to get further financially raped by AT&T or Verizon. I have since then moved out of that area and I got a new job.

WARNING!!! I also had a few upper mid-ranged Walmart/Straight Talk cell phones throughout this entire 10 year period. A year and a half ago, I had to buy a new smartphone which cost me nearly $200. This phone was unlocked. Very recently; I discovered a company called Ting which would charge me only for the data and talking time I actually used. I have always been a light user of my phones, so I accepted their offer. Literally minutes later my phone completely lost the ability to even find a cell phone signal, and even doing a factory reset using either Straight Talk or Ting's SIM card accomplished nothing! I will be damned if I was going to go to Walmart to buy another one; so I went to Best Buy instead and bought an unlocked Sony!

YOU might save your present phone during a provider switch if you immediately turn off your phone, remove the battery, the SIM card, and wait for one full business day before installing everything including the new SIM card. My transformation happened late Friday, and I had to speak to my employer about the possibility of my being phoneless until late Monday. Straight Talk remotely trashed MY phone! I would love to join a class action lawsuit against them for that and for fraud, but I do not know if these things can be proven!

Easy to refill. Customer service is the best between Virgin, AT&T, Verizon, and Boost. The worst customer service I have ever had was T-Mobile, they sucked royal. I never before used Wal-Mart phone service and I am very impressed with their help on issues I was having. I would recommend Straight Talk to anyone as the best provider that I have ever had. I'm going out of state, Florida, and I will hopefully have the same experience as I have presently. Go Straight Talk.

Only giving one star because there is no option for zero! I have been a customer of Straight Talk for years and trusted them, HUGE mistake! I purchased an iPhone 6s on August 9th and purchased 3 month data plan as well. The phone stopped working on September 20th, after many calls I was told to send the phone back for a replacement and this should take approximately 2 weeks to receive the replacement, fast forward a month and a half numerous calls to customer service I receive a refurbished iPhone 4 as the replacement!

Numerous more calls into customer service, transfers and even had a customer service representative hang up on me I was finally promised a refund for the iPhone 6s ($399.00) and the balance of the remaining data plans that was not used but first I had to send the iPhone 4 back and could take up to 30 business days to get refund. Send iPhone 4 back only to have it returned with a note denying refund! They have stolen over $600 from me! Wish I had read some of these reviews BEFORE my purchase!

Straight Talk no longer gives you a warning before your service expires. I had no other phone access to use but on their automated renewal phone line, they would only give me 3 options to choose from. All of them were national plans. I needed an international plan. You can't call their customer service number if your plan expires, only their renewal number. There's no way to talk to an agent on their renewal number. I had no choice but to purchase an national plan for $45 just so I could talk to an agent.

Once I called customer service and told them I needed an international plan they refused to credit me the $45 that I had just paid. They wanted me to pay another $65 on top of the $45 to get my international plan. They also refused to refund me the $45. Now I'm stuck buying an extra phone plan from a different company and possibly needing a new phone and new phone number a week before I'm taking a trip out of the country. Good thing it happened now. A week from now I would've out of the country and suddenly stuck with no phone service. Pretty reckless on Straight Talk's end. I'll never go through them again.

Maybe mine is working great because I bought a new Straight Talk iPhone SE at Walmart. It may work best when you buy one of their phones. I did the $35 a month plan.

Got a year's service with unlimited everything. Paid $420 for the year. They have a lot of different options. I'm on my phone a lot but usually connected to my home WiFi so I don't use a lot of data but works great when I'm out, anywhere really. I do understand some of others' problems. We have had Straight Talk for 5 years and have used it all over the country with as good a results as we ever had with Sprint, Verizon or AT&T. I dropped a phone in the pool and had a replacement in the mail in a couple days. We were near the Canadian border and their cell tower blew up my husband's sim card. Since we were traveling, he bought a new identical phone and got everything ported over with no problem. When we got home I called them about the bad sim card and they sent a new one that arrived the next day. We never used it, but when my 3G phone went bad about a year later, I decided to use his old phone since it was 4G, put in the sim card, activated it for free, ported all my info from my old phone and switched SD cards. No fuss. I have found them to be accommodating and timely. Don't remember ever sitting on hold for long. Sometime the foreign accents are hard to understand, but I get that with any tech situation these days.

My only gripe is service here at home. We have to stand in certain areas in the house to get a good signal or go outside, but amazingly we had the same problem with the major carriers no matter what part of town we lived in. So we are paying less than half what we did before and have the same caliber service. We're retired now and we've been looking at other companies to try to save money, but nothing has sounded good enough to make us change so far.

I have been a very loyal customer, my latest experience with the Straight Talk Wireless service is very displeasing. I have owned a iPhone 6 for over a year and a half now and have had service on it for its entire life straight out of the box. I recently have upgraded to an iPhone 7plus with my wife through Sprint, all I was looking for was to have the iPhone 6 unlocked so that I could sell it a little easier, I used to have a iPhone 5c that has been out of life since I bought the iPhone 6, I simply took the SIM card out of the i5c and inserted it into the i6.

I did this so I didn't have to buy a new SIM card, Straight Talk SIM card Straight Talk phone. Now that I want it unlocked straight talk has no idea that the i6 is running that SIM card from the i5. Thus now not allowing me to unlock the phone. In my eyes, if I was supposed to register the sim to the new phone it should have not worked, I should have been prompted to register the new IMEI to the SIM card.

This is outrageous. They shouldn't let you reuse the SIM card if it isn't going to update what phone it's in. Never have I ever had a problem with Straight Talk until now. Legally if they say you have to have the phone in service for one year then they should better enforce the registration of IMEI numbers and or not let you reuse the SIM card. I will continue fighting this company until they correct their issue and or unlock my phone.

I've been a Straight Talk customer since 2012, and I realize you get what you pay for, but after paying for the same thing for so long, you start to expect that certain thing to remain constant. I have the unlimited plan, for "$45" a month. We won't get into how it's not unlimited, that'll take too long. At the end of August of this year, my data was slowed down due to going just over my data usage, again, not really unlimited. But that happens, I expect it, no biggie. I paid my bill at the end of August, and as usual I expected my data to speed back up like normal.

However, Straight Talk decided to update their APN and not tell me, so my data speed remained slow/non-existent. I was traveling that weekend, and working when I wasn't in the car, so calling someone to ask why the hell my data wasn't connecting wasn't in the cards for me, and a little over a week went by before I finally got a chance. It took me three phone calls, three different APN changes, and someone else's cell phone for me to finally get the correct APN, after 6 hours of trying. Why wouldn't you tell me, or text me the updates as they happened, instead of waiting for me to complain?

Not only did you not fix it until I called, three different times, after almost 2 weeks, but you refused to make it right by reimbursing me for the payment I made for data I never received. You told me that I still had credit for the data I didn't use for that time period, which was not a consolation considering I paid for it, and the month hadn't ended at the time. I knew I still had the data, but what I didn't have was the money I paid for the data during the time of which Straight Talk screwed me out of my data and time. If you want Straight Talk, read this and other reviews, see what you're getting into. You get what you pay for, and sometimes, not even that. Good luck, and maybe try **, which is what I'll be switching to. Customer service would have gone a long way to preventing that, however, it doesn't appear that this Walmart brand cares about that, which isn't surprising at all. I hate Walmart, and Straight Talk.

I called them to ask if they could waive my high speed data for one week while a category 5 hurricane wrecks my hometown and they told me I would have to buy more. Verizon & ATT waive data usage while natural disasters strike. 5. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT HELPFUL.

They wouldn't even help me because I didn't have an alternative line... Who has a house phone anymore? I just really HATE the service, they could charge a little more and up their customer service and people would still buy the service. The problem with prepay phone service is in the day of end of service, you get disconnected and they say you are inactive. I tried to port my number to another carrier a day after my service was "cut off", only to be told I couldn't because my account was inactive! ONE DAY! In order to change I had to pay for service again with Straight Talk then have my number ported (I didn't want to change numbers). Customer service was not very courteous either. I will never go back to them, or any more prepay. This is just the beginning. I've called about various issues and got a different answer depending on which Rep answered the phone. Stay as far away from them as possible! Don't be fooled by their pricing and data packages. When you don't have options they will take advantage of you.

When I went back to Straight Talk which was in May they've been charging my card and also they've been messing with my phone meaning when I try to send picture message to my mother it won't go through so I have to call them and it takes 2.5 seconds for them get it together. When you're on the phone with them they get frustrated because they claim you is my fault.

They claim it's my problem because my phone won't let me send pictures so when they finally get the problem solved after I cussed them out everything is okay. So every week I always have to go to Walmart purchase a $45 plan which is $48.64 because Straight Talk makes your data go within 3 days and that is not how it's supposed to go. When I was with Page Plus my day the last day me a whole month. Straight Talk is a joke a scam. Someone you don't want to go to.

After 2 weeks and some apps not working, I found it had a very old operating system. After several calls to ST and then Samsung, I found it was a model only sold by ST and the OS could not be updated. It took 3 calls and 2 hours to finally get approval for a refund, even though well within the 30 days full return. Their customer service deserves the poor reviews, reps are poorly informed or rude, sometimes both. Checking their phone sales on website, there is no indication of the OS, even on new phones. When the agent at Costco, where I had purchased the plan tried to port the number over, the ST site said the number did not exist in their system. We ported my girlfriend's number over anyway and I left to talk to a Walmart ST rep. She had the same problem finding my account. After several phone calls she was able to locate the information I needed to port the number.

Called T-Mobile to port the number over, they had the same issue and called ST. It took over an hour before they admitted the following: My card for some reason had not been charged with the monthly renewal and even though my phone was still working, the number was no longer valid and was gone. Could not port the number. But wait, there's more. They did say, there was a CHANCE that if I purchased a $45 air card and called their department to reactivate my account that they say doesn't exist, that they could reinstate the number (that they said didn't exist) and then I could port my number. This is insane.

August 2 her phone shut off due to lack of payment. 2 days later she pays her bill and has her phone active for 5 days. In the middle of the day and in the middle of phone call, Straight Talk shut her phone down and gave her number to someone else. After 2 hours of being on the phone with customer service and the person they gave her number, they got it switched back over and had her number reattached to her phone. 30 minutes later her phone service shuts off again. 4 more hours later she still has yet to get her phone number and account back. This phone number is all over the side of her car, on the side of her building on a sign, and on about 3000 business cards, 5000 flyers.

By law if an individual can't pay their bill by the due date, the number goes into limbo for 30 days minimum to allow the customer to pay the bill and not lose their number. So how did Straight Talk give away an ACTIVE phone number? They stole her payment and active phone number and just gave it away to another customer. Then no one at Straight Talk can fix the problem. Straight Talk are thieves. Do not trust a single one of them, this is what happens when a Mexican cartel member owns a wireless phone company such as TracFone and Straight Talk!!!

Claims to have first 12g of data at high speed the 2g speed anything after. I'm not receiving high speed for any of my service. For the past three months my service has been slowed down to nothing but a crawl. Beginning in May of 2017 my data starting been used up more than it has in almost three years of having Straight Talk, then in June of this year, the speed of the service started slowing to nothing more than a crawl without me being anywhere close to over the first provided gigs at high speed service...

July was even worse, as my husband had tried to call me up to ten times on two different days and was unable to get through. On the first day he left work to drive an hour home to check to see if I was ok as I have breathing problems and he was afraid something had happen to me. On three or four different days I could not even place a call out. There have also been times where I have tried call the *22890 and not even able to get through, my phone just hangs up.

Now here we are in August and I just renewed my service yesterday using a credit card, like I have for the past three years and as soon as I renewed my service, I was able to use my phone for about an hour before it slowed to a crawl once again. Service is still the same today, it took 15 mins this morning to even load the Facebook page to where you can get tech support, which hasn't fixed the problem anyway. As I have contacted the tech support a total of 5 times already and all tell me the same thing. Call *22890 to reprogram my phone, wait 10min and turn phone off then back on. One told me they had reset the interest signal in their computers and for me to wait 10mins then call the *22890 turn off the phone and back on, either of which fixed the problem.

Like I said I have contacted tech support several time by phone and online. I keep getting the same answers from all of them and their answers do not fix my problem. I have suggested to their tech support team, more than once, that I should not have to pay for service that I'm not able to use as advertised by their company and at the very least that could credit my account, for the amount I have paid them for the past three months of service, have not received. Only response I have got is that they are not authorized to issue a refund. At this point all I want is a refund for my three months of unusable services and I will change carriers. Note: I’ve also filed a BBB complaint on this company.

Turns out rolling phone number over rolls remaining service over but cancels out any current service. Next you get a lot of data but you can't use it because you're either throttled or not allowed. Bought the phone 5 weeks ago, first doing a lot of homework on which plan/provider has most coverage in the United States, most affordable, unlimited plan. I was told by friends, associates, and also according to their advertisement, great coverage. I typed in my address and was assured I was in a great area, so I turned off my home services, spent the $98.18, and got onto Straight Talk. Ever since, it has been a NIGHTMARE! I didn't complain much the first couple of weeks, quite often being "offline, no internet connection". Then it became difficult to get my work done, I would Google a few things, then get same notice "offline". After several times this occurred, and the "tech" would check my address stating "oh, you're in a great area, no problem" and "oh, we'll reset your phone... turn off then on..."

And even after reported while talking to one person, the phone would switch to airplane mode, and cut my call off, and dial another one of my contacts. I took it back into Walmart, where the cell phone store associate knows me well by now. Even he called their "tech", did a total reboot, the tech told us for me to take back home, turn off & on, and I WILL have service. Guess what... of course still went offline, still working with one bar of service (and by the way, while in Walmart I only got 2 bars, would go to 4 when the associate holding the phone would make a slight move, then right back to 2). He informed me it was strange, "Everyone gets 4-5 bars on our wifi..." Anyway, after reporting problems, all they want to do is turn off & on, always saying problem fixed.

After trying to report again offline, no internet, I had 2 of their "techs" hang up on me. I think it was my 10th??? call reporting issues, repeating myself every call as to what has happened with this phone. One tech told me that the phone I bought was defective. She told me to call from another phone so I can get numbers from the phone inside. She is noting my phone defective for a replacement, she said when I call back, any tech will see this in my account. So, when I did, first tech wanted to do the reset again (?? time now)?? I had to explain to him several times we were past all that, the phone had already been deemed defective, he just wouldn't listen, or didn't understand much English. I asked to speak to the supervisor, which when I did get to him, he asked me "what's the problem with the phone?" and I had to go through everything over again (??th time)?? Then he put me on hold 11-12 minutes, then disconnected me.

I called back, of course asked again to speak to a supervisor, and he did the same, left me on hold over 10 minutes, then also hung up on me. I called back again, spoke to another "supervisor", for almost one hour, same spiel, finally he (Baltajar **) said "okay, phone defective. We will send you a package for you to send that one to us, and then we will send a replacement." I explained “that would make me without any communication at all, can I just take it back to the store and get a new one so I don't have to do without, then we can send this one to you?” He said "Check with store policy, call back, let them know." So, here I go, back to town again, find out no, I will have to send this one first wait for replacement.

So I get to my car, call Straight Talk, ask to speak to a supervisor, and now having Claim #, the latest "supervisor" would not connect me with Mr. **, but instead made me go through the whole ordeal again!!! Even with a claim #, and I know all the calls and complaints I had made were already in their system, he played dumb and said “no, there were no comments, what seems to be the problem...” I about lost it!! Couldn't believe I had to repeat ALL OVER AGAIN. But I did, and now he says, we cannot send you a replacement until you talk to a "tech" to troubleshoot... even after telling him we did that what, 14 times!!! He kept insisting I call from someone else’s phone.

I did explain I used a friend's phone the day before, and after 2 supervisors left me on hold then hung up on me, and after speaking with Mr. ** over an hour, I had used up all my friends' minutes (She was fortunate NOT to have chosen Straight Talk). I explained AGAIN, I had cut off my home services and had no other phone to call from, and already ran my friends phone dry with their shenanigans, I just hung up. When I got home, made one call, sent two texts, then was "offline" AGAIN, called their Not So Helpful Helpline, and again had to repeat everything (don't they keep a record of calls, issues with accounts, they SAY they record the Helpline). I asked this LATEST, BUT NOT GREATEST, tech to please give me service... which of course, she couldn't.

Pretty much, the moral of this NIGHTMARE, I spent $98.18, plus $45 30-day phone cards, for most of the time having no service, EVEN in the middle of Walmart, where everyone gets service. I have a friend been with Straight Talk quite a few years, he never has a problem with his service in my home, in my basement, anywhere (unfortunately he has been out of state for several months) or else I would call from HIS phone demanding the same service/connection he has... I even had one of those CHEAP phones here that never gave me a problem (Tracfone, BTW, same company) but I spent A LOT more money for a defective phone, with no service half the time... If I could SUE, I would. If I could get MY MONEY BACK, I would... Straight Talk, and their customer service, is hands-down, the WORST EVER... does anyone have any suggestions?

When I tried to purchase it with my debit card, it came back as a technical problem and the purchase didn't go through. It prompted me to try again. So I did. The online application wouldn't accept my payment, or so I thought. I checked my account balance and Straight Talk had double charged my account for a service plan that won't work on my phone. I tried for almost 2 hours to get through to customer service for them to tell me my phone was not compatible with their system. So I inquired about a refund of my money. This was on Wednesday, July 26th 2017. After another 20 minutes of waiting, a representative told me it was refunded back to my account the same day that I tried to purchase the plan. That was on Sunday July 23rd. Here it is Friday and still no money in my checking account.

Called again, they wanted a "ticket number". I told them that I don't have one because they never sent me an Email with a "ticket number". They wanted my IMEI number for my phone they said that phone is not in the system. By now I was so mad I could have chewed up nails and spit out bullets. I told them to check on the order with my debit card. They tried that and said there was never a transaction with that card to them. After that I was calling them all kinds of choice words that you wouldn't want your kids hearing. So I guess I am out $126. After that I canceled my debit card and had my bank issue me another one. Oh and by the way, cost me $12.50 on top of the $126. I'm not a happy camper to say the least. In a rating from 1 to 10, I rate this company a -20. I strongly urge anyone ever remotely thinking of doing any business with these people to steer clear. Definitely don't do any online transactions with them. They are thieves.

Well, my first problem started on June 23, 2017 when my phone was deactivated for nonpayment and my renewal date wasn't till July 3. I called customer service to see what the problem was. The rep reactivated my phone but then I started having trouble with my data. I had keep calling every other day to get my data added back to my account. Although, they added some data back to my account it wasn't what I should have left.

Ok... I thought maybe it was just a one time thing and mistakes happened, so I renewed my plan for the $55 monthly plan which is unlimited talk and text 12GB of data on JULY 3, 2017. Well lo and behold on the 14th of JULY my data was very slow. I called see what the problem was and was told that I had used all my high speed data up. 12 GB of data!?!?!!? Are you kidding me? After calling every day trying to get the reps to understand that something had to be wrong on their end because there's no way I should be out of data.. Still no luck. I got the same response from the previous techs. "Ma'am you have exhausted all of your high speed data". I give it one more try. I call and spoke with another rep and was told that there was an error with my sim card and all of my lost data would be added back to my account and updated soon as I receive the sim card they were sending.

I was told that it would take 3 days to receive the sim card. Turns out I had to wait 7 days to get the sim card. After waiting an entire week for the sim card to arrive only to find out that it was the wrong sim card. I warned the rep that they had sent the wrong sim card but she insist that I give her the number on the new sim card. She tried to activate the wrong sim card so now I'm not only out of data but I have no service at all, and was told that they were sending the sim card and it would take 3-5 days to receive. We used to have an extra line on our Verizon plan, but it was $15 a month, so I cancelled it.

According to the Straight Talk website, the old Verizon flip phone we had been using was compatible with Straight Talk, so I attempted to activate it. But $45 for 1 month for a flip phone? The heck with that, they have a 1500 minute plan sold by Walmart. So I purchase one online, have the PIN delivered via email, and I’m off to the races, right? Wrong. Upon entering the PIN, I get the message “This Service PIN is not compatible with your phone.” It’s non-returnable. Crap, I just threw $30 away. Thanks, Straight Talk. Next step, call customer service. Baljeet in Bangledesh answers, and I can’t understand a word beyond Hello. I’m sure he said his name was Frank or Billy, or something like that. At that point, I had another call coming in, so I hung up. It’s just as well, I would have needed a translator. If only they had Closed Captioning for cell phones.

A few minutes later, I call again. This time it’s Baljeet’s sister. She speaks slightly better English than Baljeet. After about 20 minutes of asking her to repeat everything so I can make sure I heard her right, she assures me that I can’t use that $30 plan I just purchased with this particular phone, that I will need the $45 plan. Great, thanks a lot. But she assured me that the phone was compatible and needed a SIM card to be activated. Next step: drive 31 miles away to Walmart to buy a $50 kit that includes the SIM card and the $45 plan. After I get home, I try to activate it. No luck. I let the phone sit all night long. When I get up, the message “Programming SIM Card in Progress” is still on the screen. Great.

So I call back, and end up speaking to Mike, who speaks very good English. After Mike does a little research on why the phone isn’t activating, he assures me that the phone is not compatible with Straight Talk. ARE YOU ** KIDDING ME?!? Of course I didn’t say that on the phone, but I sure as shootin’ wanted to. So by this time I’m into it for $80+tax, and have nothing. Abso-friggin-lutely nothing. Well, I do have a $30 PIN that I can’t use and an old, beat up Verizon flip phone, so there’s that.

Next step: I’m in too far to back out now. If I don’t end up with something to show for it, I’ll be doubly ticked off. So it’s off to Walmart to shell out another $30+tax for a cheap Straight Talk smart phone. I try to activate it, but no luck. Guess what? It needs a $45 service PIN. Great. But I remember that Mike assured me that the service PIN could be transferred to the new phone. So I call back. This time it’s Baljeet’s sister again, and she is in a rather unpleasant mood. After about 20 minutes of trying to make sense of what she’s saying, she says “would you give me 2 minutes to look in to this?” Sure, what the heck, I’ve got nothing better to do. 20 minutes later, and 5 minutes of saying “Hello, is there anybody there,” and each time followed by weird sounds, I get fed up and hang up.

I’m into it for $110+ tax by this point, so I call back. This time the call is answered by Mike’s sister Sarah, who speaks great English. 5 minutes later she has the service PIN transferred for me, and says that it can take as long as 24 hours to activate. Great. Now she’s going to transfer me to the department that handles service transfers so I can get an estimate on how long it’s going to take. But there’s an error. Rather than the supervisor of the service transfer department, I get the main system. Isn’t that just perfect. So I can either call back, or wait and see. After waiting 24 hours, and still no activation, I decided to cut my losses, return the stupid phone, and hopefully sell the unused $30 service PIN on eBay. If I ever had the choice again between a root canal and Straight Talk, I’d prefer the root canal.

They have given me nothing but problems from the beginning! I used to work from home, so I would use my phone and laptop all the time. This meant my data usage would usually be pretty high. As soon as I went over 2 gigs of data, they slowed down my data speed drastically, which caused a lot of problems for me. Recently, I attempted to renew my service and was charged twice for the amount of $49.37. I contacted them about the double charge, and was told I'd have my refund in 3 business days.

Here it is 4 business days later and I still don't have my refund. I called them again, the refund was reprocessed, and now I have to wait an ADDITIONAL 3-5 business days (possibly 30, according to the tech I talked to) for my refund. When I expressed my discontent, I was given a short "We're done here" and then hung up on! Congrats, Straight Talk! You've just lost a three and a half year customer! I do not recommend them and will be switching services as soon as this plan runs out.

I just paid 150 dollars for my phone and then I ended up with a phone they are selling on the website for 55 bucks. As I'm writing this I was sitting on hold for 20 minutes after telling the woman something was wrong with my phone again, and guess what, she just hung up on me. That's 4 times in a row. I've called them and immediately got put on hold for at least 20 minutes. While they are "getting information". My mom called them also and got the same thing happen to her. Apparently policy is more important to them than the well being of customer retention. Bought a new phone that was delivered by USPS from the company. 2 weeks later it crashed. Called to get corrected and replaced. Was told 15 days. Drive for a living across the states and won't be home to receive the replacement phone. Asked if we could expedite the process as overnight (willing to pay the cost) and was immediately told no. I now am terribly inconvenienced by the "policy."

Was told that we broke the phone. I had to explain to them that we are not irresponsible adults and it was through no fault of our own that the device was electronically defective. Spent about 4 hours and 3 people later with not one result in any favor of a customer. Only excuses that it is "policy."

I come from an extensive customer service background and this type of treatment would NOT be tolerated. I was always taught to do what was best for our customer within reason of the company's policies and expectations. I'm still beside myself with the way our situation was handled. One lady even was sassy on the phone with me from the call center. I asked for a supervisor and she stated in a sarcastic tone that she was the manager. I do not believe that due to the unprofessional way that she handled our situation. The third person that I encountered was dialed on a different number. He was fairly decent until that word "policy" came up and what they "can't" do. I thought the process was, what is it we CAN do to helps customer have a great, good, experience with the company.

I then proceeded to ask for one billing month's worth of credit for the time, frustration, defective phone, lack of compromise and poor service. He kept telling me the bill will be due In August, not July (when the next one was/is due). So I asked that he please notate this on the account. He said no, it was against policy??? REALLY! He literally JUST said something, that I repeated back for clarification and now it's against company policy. Well, we danced around in that circle for a few rounds until I just stopped. My blood pressure has risen, head is aching and chest hurting after this experience. I totally do not get their so called "policy."

Someone mentioned the Better Business Bureau and I am thinking that is a great idea after this.

Now today when I went to message a friend back my keyboard would pop up then drop back down. When I would try to get it back up it continued to do this over and over again. Then later on in the day when I swiped the screen to unlock it just froze and would not unlock.

I called customer service to help and they had me do a hard reset to factory, which did nothing because it would not let me get past the sign in screen for my Gmail account. Going on a deployment? Need to hold your phone number? Need to transfer your phone number to a more friendly service? Forget about it!!! They will hold your phone number, force you to buy unneeded services, and delay a phone port to the point it not worth keeping your old phone. They are unable or incompetent to execute very simple and basic requests.

Below is my story. In summary here is my complaints: Inability to hold phone number and place current account hold account status for military personnel deployed oversea IAW Service Member Relief Act (customer service reps said they can only hold accounts inactive for one month no matter the circumstance). Inability to transfer phone unlock code despite meeting the customer longevity requirements to own the rights to my straight talk phone. Forcing me to purchase an unneeded cell plan to release my phone number for porting to another provider. (Note: Direct FCC violation - customers have the rights to their phone numbers not the cell providers - This was essentially an illegal porting fee).

Once purchasing the above service plan, the Straight Talk rejected two requests to transfer to another carrier stating that the phone was not active when it was (Another 3 days of service lost). Ultimately, I was forced to buy an unneeded service plan to get access to my phone number. Have since made a request to port my number to another service provider.

I have experienced several month's worth of aggravation of not being able to log into my account online using a computer. They have tried to force me to use their worthless app and I will not use it, ever. Today, I was successful in logging in a couple of times, changed some information and now it doesn't work again. I was even supposedly transferred to some person at "Corporate Headquarters" in Florida. I doubt that one but anyway, that person would not help me either. And I have had multiple people just stop talking to me and act like they can't hear me, I guess. Which really just rips into me.

As far as I'm concerned, the whole group of so called technicians or whatever they're called, just need to give up their little job because they can't do it anyway. Pretty sad that these people piggy back off of other companies' cell towers just so that they can save a few bucks but yet they are not even capable of solving a simple login problem that most computer technicians are taught how to resolve in the first few months of either training or on the job use. This I say because I was a computer technician for over 15 years and possess multiple certifications for several big name IT companies. But I guess they don't want to talk to or deal with anyone that is smarter than they are.

Also, I am rather over polite with these people when talking to them on the phone, however, I can remember losing my temper once and then ended up apologizing to them, by my own choice because I felt that I may have been too strong on that one individual. So, chock this ill experience up along the thousands of others that are on this site as well as others around the internet.

I really don't know where to begin. It would take all day to write about it. I got my friends & family on Straight Talk. It was great way back. Great phones, great access. I've been a customer and referring everyone I could find, with no interest on getting anything in exchange from anyone. BUT, starting about end of 2015 to beginning 2016, it went from back to intolerable. My unlimited service stopped at 5m, then text & picture receiving & sending got so slow, It was useless. After many, countless hrs with tech support & service, it would work for a few hours and then cell started malfunctioning. Constant, self shutdowns, constant self resetting, cell would get extremely hot & battery would drain in minutes and even in seconds. Customer service would send me another phone, but failed to tell me that even though the re-up card I was buying said "Unlimited Data", they had changed their services.

Then the whole 4g for the first 5Gs, and then 2g access for the rest of the month. It was useless. The internet speed was NOT even dial-up speed. I WOULD SOMETIMES WAIT MAYBE AN HOUR OR MORE JUST TO CHECK MY E-MAIL. Then it would take 30 to 45 minutes to appear on the screen. Most of the time, cell would power off and back on, and I had to start all over again. Hack protection on the LG Androids; nonexistent. LG 15, would lock up. They sent me 2 or 3 empty boxes so I would return the old one and they could send me the new/refurbished one. FedEx would not ship without charging me because they used the wrong label, even though I was clear in telling them what FedEx had said and required. I got so tired of it all, no cell, time running on plan for the month without service, SO I agreed to pay shipping via USPS, BECAUSE FEDEX would charge me tons more $.

They said they would reimburse me for the cost of mailing the cell to them, NEVER GOT REIMBURSED THE $30+ DOLLARS IT COST ME TO SEND IT TO THEM. Then nobody knew anything about it. Got the refurbished cell in the mail, was literally heck to get them to activate it, after more than an hour (as if I didn't have anything better to do), headache, nauseous, frustration and dealing with 3 or I don't even remember how many that sounded like they were in some country far away and were using tin cans and a string, with some form of English that was barely understandable, finally got it activated, but no reimbursement for shipping, time spent and the phone was "FREE", yeah right, free.

Nowadays, still being "THROTTLED" cell malfunctions. I have not changed company because I can't find a plan with another company to fit my budget or my situation. Besides, many of the competition is own by the same company as this one. Amercell, Americacel or call or whatever, by the Billionaire guy from Mexico. Get this, now he's setting Mexico's cellular service probably better than our service.

Honestly, I don't get it: I see see everyday people transmitting on their refurbished cell phones from poor countries that people are so poor, and I can't get half decent service at a reasonable price in U.S. & Puerto Rico. I don't get this... Really I don't. If they don't get you one way, they'll get you another. 4g? What, if I had a choice on what network I was getting better service with LTE data consumption and still got everything done, I would pick 3g network, constant back and forth 2-3-4-lte-other. It wastes date on the consumer side. Hope you have better luck than me on cell phone services. I am tired of changing numbers. It's time to say goodbye to Straight Talk and their other companies. It's all the same, look it up on www, who owns Straight Talk and you'll find out what other companies they are mixed up in. Do your research.

I am a national chaplain joining millions of Americans using conference call lines. The line we use is simply to pray for our nation. Part of my responsibility is to lead certain hours each week. This is in addition to working for an Appalachian charity serving the needs of some of our nation's poorest residents. On May 31st, my service quit. Upon trying to contact someone to troubleshoot, I was told my service was permanently terminated and my telephone and 20 year old number were permanently disabled. They said I had violated their contract. There was no notice, no indication prior to this anything was wrong.

I am nearing 70, have hearing impairment and am technically challenged. Over the next two weeks, in a small rural community, sales representatives were on the phone a total of 21 hours getting Supervisors from Verizon to talk with Supervisors from Straight Talk to first release my phone, then finally my number. I still don't know what I did. Straight Talk said I violated my contract by making 800 number calls or 3rd party calls. The service we use along with millions of Americans is FreeConferencing.com. The Straight Talk service advertises it is unlimited. The FreeConferencing.com number is ** which is no different than any personal or business number.

To get my 20 year old number reactivated, I was instructed to purchase a new Straight Talk phone and they had to send a SIMs Card. Upon arrival of the SIMs Card then the local Straight Talk sales representative talked a Supervisor into activating the number. But before Verizon could get it transferred, Straight Talk deactivated it again. It took several visits to both stores, to learn what happened. I had to purchase a 2nd new Straight Talk phone and service, the following Wednesday (2 weeks) and again get it activated. This time a Verizon Supervisor was standing by to quickly transfer the number.

Conclusion: I would rate Straight Talk as 1 star. No one could explain what was done wrong. We were not able to talk to Straight Talk representatives that could speak English well enough to understand them. One department would transfer you to another department, then want to transfer you back all with 30+ minute wait times. I would rate both the Walmart who took a special interest in helping, as 5 star. She listened to this story and repeated it several times.

There are so many things I would like to say about this company but the same issue will always be the same. The 4G SPEED is a joke. They steal your data that I pay money for and FCC lets them get away with it. My service end date is 28th and supposedly I am out of data. I can't even get on to speak to customer service which I might add is a waste of time. Last week I used my 10 GB and still have 3 weeks of service. Also I had AT&T unlimited plan and never used but 8 GB a month. I play one game and daughter watches kids YouTube but the game I play is on top of list. Yahtzee uses 10GB A MONTH? Seriously? That game was always in bottom of list with any other phone carrier I had. I'm so disappointed with STRAIGHT TALK.

I even screenshot everyday to show there was never even 4G LTE. I always have 3G. They are a joke and a insult. They steal data, steal money and should go ahead and change their name to CROOKED TALK. They don't fix the issues and instead of reimbursements they want you to call them and say 100 times during the conversation that they are so sorry for that! Ok so what are you going to do? You're going to tell me I used all that data. Well now I have proof I don't use that much data. Fix your issues STRAIGHT TALK before you have other issues and LAWSUITS on your hands. Oh and I turned off data last month several times when I didn't need phone and still used 10 GB IN 2 WEEKS!

The money was taken from my card however I had requested next day delivery to be here in time for him. When it did not arrive I called since tracking link still said "order processing".

2 hours and 7 representatives later NO ONE can find my order or conveniently my payment info to refund my money. FLAT OUT THEY STOLE MY MONEY. My first month using the Straight Talk mobile hotspot was wonderful. Good speed, consistent internet access and never losing connection like I frequently had with T-Mobile. But when it came time to top up, the nightmare began. For 5 days I have spent countless hours on the phone waiting on hold sometime over half an hour and trying to find someone who's could fix the "system error" so that it stayed fixed. Each rep gave different reasons, one I caught in a lie about how much data I had, and one who hung up on me when I asked to speak to his supervisor.

The reps don't seem to know what they are doing, are often hard to understand, avoid direct answers to questions, and lack professionalism to deal with problems. At this point I would warn people to not do business with Straight Talk until they can fix their customer service issues of qualified reps to give tech support and having more techs available to decrease wait time from 30-40 minutes to 5-10 minutes.

He said I had to take my phone into a store for help because then THEY could read it properly. I asked for a supervisor or anyone else, he wasted time, stayed silent then said he was a supervisor. After over an hour on the phone with him being rude and not helping (or speaking proper English) he started pressing buttons so I couldn't talk. I lasted 5 minutes then hung up. I do not know what has changed with the company's access to the network. I can put my phone down and not have any service so that being said I am not getting phone calls or texts. If I pick the phone up and walk about 3 feet I will have service. Verizon is in debt up to their nose and have pulled something on us consumers. We all should have been notified of this change. I have no choice but to switch companies. FYI. I have been a customer with Straight Talk for over 10 years and it was a great service until now.

Straight Talk is great with the cost but in all other areas it is extremely lacking. You can only talk to a rep on the phone when you have a problem and they are very hard to understand. If there is a problem with the phone or new sim card, they cannot overnight; instead you have to wait two business days. I had two phones on the account and cancelled one. They refused to transfer over my six months ($300) of prepaid service to my other phone (my son's phone) on the same account. Once my son's prepaid minutes are used, we will cancel service and NEVER use Straight Talk again.

I have had a great experience with this company. I am a BYOP customer, I checked my phone to make sure it was compatible and it worked well. I have always used Verizon phones on the BYOP plan. By using Verizon phones I have never had problems with service anywhere. That includes outside of my state. In my experience they have been lenient on their data cap. I have often exceeded my cap by over 1gb before throttling kicks in. Recently they upgraded their plans and it kicked in even though I was currently in the middle of a service plan.

Now to mention the few negatives... Out of the box the BYOP plan didn't include the sim card I needed. It took 2 days to receive by mail. It was free of charge. I have used the same kit over multiple phones, which they say you are supposed to buy a new one each time. The other negative would be that it's hard to understand customer service. Customer service is based out of country I believe. They do try to resolve issues, but it can take time. I would recommend this service if you have a compatible Verizon phone to use.

Then to replace the phone they screwed up we had to jump through their hoops... calling Google, then calling LG, then calling them back 30 or more times. Most of the time they would put us on hold and just not come back at all.

Then I was told 2 days for a replacement phone. After I had to pay FEDEX for their packaging because mine wasn't good enough. Yes, they will send you a package but then you are waiting days for that to come, then you need to wait until they receive the phone back before they process your replacement. 2 days my **. Now it's up to 3 to 5 business days... and that's not waiting for the package! Once this phone dies for good, I will be buying another phone with a different company. They told me to proceed with the order. Afterwards, I received an email and was charged $109.99 and was told I would be charged that every month. I put up the phone and has disputed from day one. I refused the phone that FedEx brought to my door. They have taken another $55.00 this month, I'm a pulmonary hypertension disease patient. I told them this and that I just got out of the hospital after almost 3 months. I'm on a disability of $660 per month. Now, Straight Talk is getting ready to take another $56.00 on the 9th. I'm being charged double.

When I speak to Smartpay, they say I need to talk to Straight Talk/Tracfone and have them send them a confirmation email stating that they got the phone back. I have an order number and tracking number and they know they have gotten the phone back. Yet, they refuse to send that email confirmation letting Smartpay know they have the phone. I have spent hours on the phone trying to get this corrected. But all they do is tell me that they can't send an email. They have the worse customer service I have ever dealt with. Long hold patterns, yet you can her them actually talking to people in the background about someone's birthday. Then after an hour transfer you to another department and have to go over everything again, then another department, so on and so forth.

I was on the phone from 7 to 9:30 last night. I was told I would get a call back this morning at 9. It's almost 11 and still not a word from them. They sure can send out an email to say they are taking your money, but can't confirm or send an email to another department telling them they received the cell phone back. So much for helping your customer. At this point they have taken over $200.00 And I have received nothing in return. I guess I'll go to my local media and contact a lawyer and see what they can do at this point.

I would like to see their customer service moved back domestically.

I also have found that the phones one purchases through Straight Talk are very susceptible to viruses and the battery tends to get hot after about a year's use. It gets very slow and frustrating to use and there is no other choice but to purchase a new phone. I also find the phones to be very expensive and would like to see more reasonable prices offered. Most likely, I will remain a loyal customer because I do not like contract services.

When it never showed up they then told me it could take as long as 30 days and that the refund had been released and that now it is up to my bank to make sure it showed up in my account... I purchased a new StraightTalk Samsung Galaxy S6 for $399 from my local Walmart on March 23, 2017 with the intention of upgrading from my existing Samsung S3 when I got home. I had been using StraightTalk's $45 a month service for over 4 years and had upgraded phones before without problems so I expected the same again. Wrong assumption!

After hours of phone time with customer support (horrible) trying to get the phone to activate without success, they finally decided to send me a new SIM card which took a week to get to me. After receiving the card and again calling customer support to get the new SIM card activated, I was finally able to get service on the phone. All was well until May 8th when I lost service on the phone.

After talking with numerous support reps who gave me various reasons for why my phone wouldn't work, I finally talked with a supervisor who told me my phone had been deactivated because it had been returned to Walmart on March 30th. I told her that was quite impossible because I had the phone in my hand at the time and the matching sales receipt to prove it. My ticket was escalated to "Corporate/TracFone" where I was told they had 24-48 hours to work my problem. I was asked to email or fax them pictures of the activation and store bar codes on the box and my store receipt as well as my contact info. Thankfully, I had kept all the packaging and my sales receipt.

After waiting 3 days without hearing from them (they don't work on the weekends, by the way), I called to get a status update. They said they needed additional info from me and that I had to wait another 24-48 hours once they received that info. When I finally got an email back from TracFone, they told me that my sales receipt didn't match my phone and that it was Walmart's problem and to take it back to the store. They couldn't explain to me why I had had service for 6 weeks though.

When I took it back to Walmart, they told me they couldn't refund my money because they had a 14-day return policy on electronics. They did however agree to call StraightTalk for me after I explained what I been going through trying to resolve the issue myself. After their call, StraightTalk agreed to send another SIM card to me. When the new SIM card arrived, I again called StraightTalk to complete the activation. You guessed it. Still wouldn't activate. This time, they started talking about the phone being defective.

I hung up and took it back to Walmart again. This time, a different clerk spotted the problem. The serial number on my phone didn't match the bar code and activation card in the packaging. Since I had purchased only one phone, there was no way I could have mistakenly mixed up phones. In talking with StraightTalk, they determined that there must have been an error in packaging at the warehouse or distribution point and that the phone that should have been in my box was actually sold and returned on March 30th to a Walmart Store in Cedar Rapids, IA, over 350 miles away from my Walmart Store.

My ticket was then escalated to TracFone's refund department where it sits in limbo for 30 days while they decide if they are going to refund my money for the phone and the 3 weeks of prepaid phone service I was unable to use while my phone was deactivated. Oh, by the way, they won't unlock my phone so I can take it to another service provider so I now sit with $400 paperweight on my desk. StraightTalk will never get my service again!

Yesterday morning, I began to notice my 4G LTE speeds getting really slow. I checked my data usage on my phone and it showed 3.40 GB of data for this month so far, which is a bit more than I usually use but I just sort of assumed I left something running in the background at some point. I thought nothing of it, since I rarely even get close to my 5 GB monthly limit. It was eventually brought to my attention that the Verizon LTE network was acting up this weekend, so I thought I'd just wait it out. However, other people still had access to their data, so I figured I should contact customer support.

I spoke with their rep via live chat and she immediately, without any hesitation, said that I exceeded my data cap. I told her I clearly didn't, but she said I actually had used 5.09 GB, not the 3.48 that was now showing on my phone. She then said the data usage function on Galaxy phones is inaccurate and that they have accurate data. Already this is sounding kind of fishy. She then immediately tries to get off the line.

Over the course of the next 5 minutes, she asked me "Is there anything else I can assist you with?" three times, so I told her I needed a few moments to type out my questions. I then asked her if she could verify that I was doing everything correctly to renew my plan early so I actually have access to service, and she simply refused to walk me through the process or confirm I was doing it right. Let's face it. I wanted confirmation because I was already feeling like I was getting defrauded, and the way she was treating me made me feel even more helpless and confused.

I asked her if there was any way to confirm last month's data usage and she said no -- another red flag. I told her about the random spike and asked her if she could tell me how much of a jump it was showing on her end and she said no. I asked her if she could give me any more information about my data usage pattern other than that number, 5.09, and she said no yet again. I asked her repeatedly if there was any way to prove her claims, because, as a consumer, I believe I am entitled to transparency about what it is I'm paying for. I asked her again, "Then how do I know the numbers your company is sending me are correct?"

Her final response came in a few seconds after I finished renewing my plan early, because I need to be able to access my services, and was as follows: "We have made all efforts to communicate with you, but to no avail. We will now forward this matter to our legal team for review. Due to the inappropriate nature of your inquiry, we will no longer respond through this channel." Once the payment had been sent, she disconnected from the chat and made up an intentionally intimidating excuse. Maybe I did go over the data, and Android's data usage graphic really is off by over 30% (doubtful). However, why exactly is it that the company can't prove I did? I've never had a single issue with this company and would have given them 5 stars. However, I think fraud qualifies as an immediate score of 0, don't you?
