I've been a customer for 7 years, and their customer service is absolutely the worst. If you call to get support, you get a person who can barely speak English and is unintelligible to understand in return.

I called to port my number as I am unhappy with Straight Talk's service. The representative Carlos ID ** said he needed the IMEI then a few moments later said no he needed the sim card number. When I asked him why that changed he gave me attitude. He obviously was not knowledgeable about how to assist me from the beginning. Then he puts me on a 45 minute hold while I can hear him asking other people in the back how to help me. He is speaking in Spanish and I am bilingual so I can hear him. He never apologizes for the long wait. When I finally complete the port, I ask for a refund. He then tells me I can receive a refund because I ported the number. I ask why when I ported the number to them from At&t so that number doesn't even belong to them plus I haven't used the service. He keeps repeating the same thing with less confidence.

Then I ask where it says that in the terms and conditions. It takes him another extended hold and when he returns what the policy reads is not even close to the reason he gave. Finally, I ask for how to submit a complaint. He transfers me over to the supposed supervisor who asks me if I want a refund. I was like sure but that's not what I asked but what can I expect. She then transfers me over to the supposed refund department. Maria employee ID ** then says the same thing. I ask where does it say that in the terms and conditions and she says it's only on their side and I can not see it and she can not send the refund policy to me through email or any other means. I ask her if this call is recorded and she responds with every call is recorded. I ask her for a ticket number for this call and she is like, "I can generate one for you." So one is not even already generated?

The lack of organization and consistency is ridiculous. She gives me the following incident number: **. Throughout my year with Straighttalk's I have spent hours trying to set up my phone. It's never been accurate. I am not able to receive a text without clicking to download it first and when I try to reach the technical department they provide no way to resolve it and act like they don't know what I am talking about. They act annoyed when you call on the phone that's having issues. From time to time, I just stopped receiving larger text messages with no heads up or reason as to why.

Leaving them has been a 4 hour ordeal that has me highly upset. I don't recommend this provider to anyone. I'd go without a cellphone before returning to them. I will be submitting a written complaint of my experiences from set up to the service to the customer service to corporate, the Better Business Bureau, and the FCC. Lastly, while on hold for long stretches, I started an online chat with a straighttalk rep if I could get a solid answer with decency and was helped efficiently and with kindness by Omair Employee ID: ** Call Ticket # **.

I have been with Straight Talk for over four years. If I could give this company a "zero" I would. As a student, these prices are amazing for the product! But, the service is horrific. There has been times when I have been driving and the phone would say "no service", my calls would drop randomly, I would receive random text messages from months prior, my phone wouldn't allow me to make calls or receive them most of the time, the data hardly ever worked. The phone is in great quality. I have contacted straight talk over six times. I have also contacted Straight TALK corporate (spoke with someone named Yusef). There has only been one customer service rep that was kind and not rude. All others were extremely rude and very disrespectful. They were not concerned about fixing the problem and they all suggested to "turn my phone off and back on", "get a new sim card" and "call *72*. All of these did not fix my phone.

I asked all of them "what can I do moving forward" and they could not tell me anything besides "giving me six days of free service for my inconvenience"-- I am forced to switch companies and buy a whole new phone. I also work from my phone so it is highly inconvenient for me. Do not waste your time especially if you expect good customer service. I have given them four years of my time and always paid on time. I will never go back to straight talk.

I am an existing customer on and off for over 10 years! Off because I feel like I constantly have to fight with your employees because of false information.. My husband, myself, my daughter as well as my son and my mother in law have phones through Straight Talk!! We have had pending reward points for 14,612 since September. I was told on three different occasions I would get them in 30 days, 60 days and then today on the 18th just to be told by a representative that I wouldn't get them until the 21st, the 27th and two other dates and then now they say the 20th. I talked to quite a few customer service representative and most of them were very rude to me and my husband, over your poorly trained or just rude employees including two "managers" I'm to the point where I literally was so frustrated I wanted to cry. It is ridiculous.

I joined the rewards program so I would have a backup plan to have a way to buy air time in case our funds were low like they have been for two months now. My bill and I was sure I have the reward points strictly for when I can't afford air time. Those points I can't have because I was told on several occasions that I was going to get them. I never did. I am very dissatisfied and I will never ever recommend you guys. If straight talk strives to help the customers then the ceo should really evaluate its employees especially a few of the managers.

We were told so many different stories today. We were badgered by the managers, made fun of, yelled at and hung up on over something we didnt do. We were upset over promises we were told by straight talk. We were told they would help us get some of our reward points to at least get our phone reactivated so we won't lose our numbers and were told they could help and then told they couldn't. Not one person we talked to today honored our requests to speak to a higher power. Two ladies that claimed to be managers claimed they were too busy doing paperwork to talk to loyal customers that have several family members including my husband and myself that use straight talk. I was made to I was a tourist visiting the Philippines and I didn't belong. Not one person showed any compassion, one even laughed and got an attitude because we were upset.. They said we didn't have straight talk that we had Actel.

We bought the phones at Walmart. They are j7 crowns and also came with a straight talk sim. They also claimed that we activated one phone on Sep. 21 and the other on the 22nd when we have proof on our app that we activated them the same day. Then we were told they could give us 7000 points then bumped it back down to 600. My son had to sit at school all day with a migraine because he couldn't get ahold of me because of all this nonsense because I don't have air time, because I am getting 50 different dates from some rude ** employees your corporate hired!

If I was the CEO or whoever runs straight talk I would be weeding out some of these oh so nasty and rude individuals. Besides one guy named Jacob I don't know his last name. I wish I did. He should be a manager. My feelings are actually hurt at this point. Now I may lose my number because of false info. And there is nobody in that company trying to make it right. We didn't make any mistakes and we were beat down and embarrassed by these people. I wouldn't be proud of your employees. Or yourselves to hire such rude and misinformed people. Look how many dates I was given just today!!! W they are so lost they just start making up **. I was promised 14,000 points today and for the 3rd month in a row dates changed. And here 8 am almost 3 months without a phone. And not one person in that company cares or will take responsibility for this.

Been w/ Straight Talk for 15 yrs. I always purchase the $45.00 card and w tax the total comes to 50.77. I purchase the card over the phone through Straight Talk. Starting in Sept the price for a $45.00 card went up to $54.62. That’s almost 10.00 for tax. They never notified customers of the huge tax increase and when I called they told me to call the government if I didn’t like it. Is it legal to charge that much tax? I’m not sure how much the card is if you purchase the card in a Walmart store but I’m sure they don’t charge that amount of tax. Can I do anything about this. Thank you so much for your time. I bought a Straight Talk wireless cell phone a few months ago and found that it was a waste of money. It worked the first month but it stopped working two months later. No calls would go through even though I had just added $35.00 worth of phone card minutes. I called customer service and they kept me on the phone for over two hours checking various things. Finally, I was connected to a supervisor who asked for the pin number and other information I had given when I set up the phone. I gave them the exact information that they asked for but they claimed it wasn't correct and therefore they couldn't help me. It Was Correct. They just didn't want to be bothered any further to resolve the problem. Never buy this worthless product. It is a waste of money and customer service is a joke!

I've been a Straight Talk user for over 5 years. In the last few years I started having major technical issues. My pictures wouldn't send or receive, I couldn't make phone calls. I've spent hours upon hours on the phone with support I can barely understand who barely understand me. I just called because I was promised a credit. I specifically asked for it to be noted.

I COULDN'T send pictures, messages almost the whole month. She told me I HAD to wait until I got a new card. Fine. I did that. Now I'm being told it wasn't noted on my account. So while they see my MULTIPLE CALLS and understand the pointless hours I spent with technical support trying to fix an issue that wasn't mine because it fixed itself. They won't even issue a credit that was promised because it isn't noted on the account. Nor would the manager correct this fault and issue a credit. Looks like I'm stuck with them for another month because I was told to add more time and call back when I had my new phone card. Scam artists!!!!

Ok so I paid my pre paid amount by debit for 1 payment. Sat pending in my bank account. Next day there was another payment pending so now there was 2 payments pending for Straight Talk. I called straight talk and told them they said they are showing 1 payment. I said, "Well there is 2 payments coming out." So I called the bank which every time I call I get the Philippines so of course I can’t understand straight talk people or the bank people. So ok 1 payment drops off the bank and the bank gave me the credit for the payment that needs to be applied to my phone.

Now almost 2 weeks later straight talk shuts down my phone and locks it so I can’t even go to another provider because they told me I have to purchase a new SIM card, have the bank pay them or pay money order. And even then will it be a week till my phone is on again. Since this has happened I have no access to my work schedule. Can’t even stay in touch with my daughter if something should happen. Stay away. They both screwed up and I GET PUNISHED FOR THEIR MISTAKES!!!! Not only that they are charging me the full amount and only being able to Partly use all of the services for the month!!! BIG RIP OFF!!! STAY AWAY. IT'S CHEAP AND THAT'S THE SERVICE YOU GET FOR GOING. CHEAP. It’s also the bank's fault for crediting me instead of paying the bill!!!! When you call straight talk you will always get people you can't understand!!! And vise versa they don’t understand us either!!!

So my story is just nothing short of awful. Every time I talked to a representative I couldn't understand what they were saying. That's just the beginning. They would talk and I would just say ah huh. Yep. Ah huh. Knowing good and well I had no idea what they just said. If that wasn't bad enough I literally had to say "what was that" at least a dozen times per call. I found it strange that they don't speak good English, they mumble and they don't talk loud enough. Can you imagine how bad?

The first time I called I got a women that intentionally put in all my setup contact information incorrectly on purpose. I figured that out after the call was over. Yeah real helpful.. What a joke. She was very sly about being rude and seemed to hate her job/life. I spent a good 30 to 45 minutes waiting on her to do all this stuff to set up my phone. When it came time for her to wait on me to setup my phone initially, it took like 10 minutes. She proceeded to get antsy and kept telling me to just skip this and skip that and, "Are you still there?" I'm trying my best to be quick Knowing that she was waiting. At the end she was mumbling on and talking about how to do things that were not even close to helping anymore. I'd say ah huh. She did everything wrong on purpose just because she was having a bad day. That was the first call.

I called again 1 day later and got some Arab names Nichols. He was worse than the first representative. Can you imagine what I'm about to tell you next? It's nothing less than ignorant. First off I spent 50 minutes on the phone with this guy and none of those seconds or minutes were productive or helpful. I started to become irritated with their lack of knowledge they had about my problem. It seemed like they were acting dumb on purpose. I could not stand and it anymore. He told me to call them three days later with my ticket number. Three days? I told all my friends about this one.

I was nervous to leave T-Mobile after 15 years of service with them, but I was pleasantly surprised to find Straight Talk much more cost effective and just as reliable. My only complaint is their customer service. I was on the phone for an hour, speaking with 3 different people, before someone REALLY listened and tried to resolve my concerns. The first representative was nice enough, acted like he was reviewing my account, never asked for any information that he would've needed to resolve my concerns, kept me on the phone for 15 minutes, and told me he resolved my problem...in reality, he did NOTHING.

The second representative was abrupt, even rude, and told me it was not possible to do what I was asking (there was a second phone number listed on my account that has NEVER been my phone number, and she told me I'd been paying to use the second number, even though I only have ONE device...but she refused to remove the number, even though she informed me that payments were being made on the number from my credit card). I finally spoke to customer service, and she was thankfully able to remove the number from my account. She told me that any charges made on that number would have to be disputed through my bank, because Straight Talk doesn't issue refunds or even credit accounts. If you don't mind spending an hour of your time trying to resolve concerns, and don't mind talking to representatives who are clearly outsourced, the service and price are GREAT!

I tried explaining that I couldn't afford for a random fifty to go missing and they just kept telling me that my transaction was declined and to call my bank. My bank told me that the transaction did go through and that if I wanted to to have Straight Talk call and talk about what happened or I could dispute my charge. It wasn't until this morning that I finally had cell coverage with CC. People, think twice about getting a ST phone. I know there are people who love it and have never had problems but there are an equal number with the opposite feeling. I spoke to a cell phone industry person who told me that ST is fine when it works, But when it doesn't it's terrible.

Original review: I was with another carrier and decided to port my number over to Straight Talk. I ordered a SIM card and went through the process. I should have known better. Their call center is obviously in India and I had a very difficult time understanding the person. After being on the phone with them for quite a while I was cut off. I called back and got another person who was able to finish the setup. But I have no cell service in my house. I have to go outside to make a call. This is unacceptable. I stood outside yesterday trying to get through to them but after three attempts I gave up. I was on hold for a long time and then the call gets dropped. I never had these problems with the previous service. Lesson learned. I'm going back to where I was and be thankful!

My Snapchat won't load, Hulu, Netflix, Instagram, NOTHING! But if I switch to a cheaper plan I'll run out of data right away. I'm so upset that I paid so much for a service that doesn't even let me do anything!

They were decidedly unhelpful and ignorant. They kept telling me to call them when I went to another state. Folks what part of the phone doesn't work do you not understand. My story starts about 45 days ago when my wife's data service just stopped dead in its tracks. I did what anyone would do and opened a support request, to which I was told first to wait for reactivation to be sent out, no go... Second time I was told it was being escalated and it would be fixed, well they closed the ticket out as resolved with no actual fix, still no data. So I go to change services, no love lost, enough time wasted. I waited a bit too long and one day after my contract ended the port went through from Comcast and they claimed I had to pay $39 to reactivate service to get my number which they "own".

Supervisor Jean ** wasn't much better, she had the nerve to say that my contract didn't include guaranteed data working. Even though I paid the $39 a month for 3GB of data, it's not guaranteed to work per the contract, they'll simply make their best effort. So I had 45+ days with no data service and according to them, that's acceptable and by the way if you want your number per Jean **, pay up sucker for another month. Good luck dealing with my credit card company when I send over the chat transcripts and my lack of service that I'm going to go back and claim for three months.

Why can't they do this on a monthly basis instead of daily basis of 30 days. The plan for auto also stated that "no other charges would be made/taxes are included for your area". Been paying the same amount monthly (on 3 phones) since 2018. Now I am getting different amounts deducted every month. When I called "it is because your state is now charging a tax and it will change monthly." Might as well join another carrier, they all charge whatever they want to, only their bills come "monthly". Update on 11/7/2019: Today 7 November 2019, changed phone service from sprint back to Straight Talk. On the landline for 1½ hours with Ivy. She had the patience of...she just had the patience to put up with me. We did have a good time. I tried to change service by myself and that did not work. So I called customer service and was put through to Ivy. For the next 1½ hours she worked with me to get the service changed to Straight Talk. She worked with the Sprint SIM card and got me all set up and I kept my same phone. I believe using with SIM card did have to reboot the phone and start all over. Understand, because I don't live on the phone. I can reload all my data and phone numbers and I'm okay with that and I'm still using the Sprint SIM card, so I'm returning the "Keep your own phone, SIM activation kit" to Walmart...never had to open. Paid up online, good to go.

Sometimes customer service is really amazing. So if you are going to change service to Straight Talk and talk to a live person, in customer service, be very patient, understanding and nice and ask to have them say something over, they will and be nice about it. Please understand I know to be patient and understand getting something done can take time, but the end result is what counts and I'M BACK TO STRAIGHT TALK. So have a nice day.

Original Review: I have been reading reviews of Sprint and Cricket and Straight Talk. I agree with everybody about your services, good or bad. But I will say had Straight Talk from March 2015 and for me the service was great. Just saying. Service, phone no problem. Never had a drop call. Signal was always strong. Phone worked in my basement. Changed phones 2 times, fast and easy and kept my number. Okay called one time and that was when I was making my first phone change. I don't what to say, but the customer service was cooperative, friendly and fixed my screw up trying to change phone. You don't have to believe a word I'm saying, but I'm sitting at my computer and really can't bad mouth Straight Talk for anything. So if you try Straight Talk, may the force be with you.

Because my wife pays for my phone service, I don't question her judgment. Now the bad news, she switch us to, wait for it, Sprint. Sprint no signal, very poor signal, hard to understand people if the call gets through. No or low bars. Put on the wrong plan and did not figure that out until later. Wife and I agree now, Sprint is, bad for us, may be great for other people. My wife wants to try Cricket, I'm going to see if I can get her to go back to Straight Talk. Oh well, have a nice day and I hope everybody finds the best and right phone service.

Straight talk stole $46 dollars from me and refuses to give me back my money. Unless you want to be scammed, be on the phone for hours, and bounced around from one incompetent rude person to another, please avoid this thieving company who loves to steal from Americans. I ordered an iPhone 6, made a payment of $46 to their partner Smartpay for leasing. Straightalk never shipped the phone. FedEx order only said pending. I called Straight talk customer service several times to find out where the phone was. They were rude and refused to help me, and then canceled my order and refused to give me a refund. Smartpay also refused, so Straighttalk stole my $46 and I received nothing. Smartpay said I sent the phone back, which was a lie because it was never shipped!

I will file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Not only did these thieves steal my money, they were disrespectful, accusing me of lying, belligerent on the phone - 7 reps on different days, apathetic and nasty over the phone. I have an 800+ credit score and work a professional job and have never experienced this level of deplorable service. On top of this, one of their Indian or Pakistani reps (they are all foreigners) asked me for my debit card number so he could verify who I was. It was totally unnecessary for him to ask me for this, so he was trying to further take advantage of me by stealing my information. The company should be investigated and not be allowed to do business in America!

We had two new phones and when my wife’s phone data stopped working I called customer service, ha ha what a joke. After four technicians and four hours and a new SIM card, It was determined that the phone is defective.

The phone still under warranty I was told to send it into their warehouse and they would replace it with a refurbished phone. I asked if they could send me the refurbished phone using my credit card and then credited back when I return the defective phone. I was informed that is not their policy and they could not do that. After speaking to a supervisor a manager and corporate, this is their policy and there’s nothing they can do about it. My wife would have to do without a phone for a week to 10 days and that’s the way it is! Well hell no this is not the way it is, I dumped them and we went back to Verizon. WHAT A HORRIBLE MISTAKE! The first thing I noticed was that they ADDED FEES on my bill! So, I paid more for everything including my monthly bill than what they told me it would be. That's two bad things there... Third bad thing I uncovered is that if you want to add an additional service, or lower a service, YOU CANNOT WITHOUT canceling out your current plan and buying a whole new plan! I was completely baffled by this when I wanted to add international calling to my phone but they told me I had to cancel out the plan I just bought that day and lose all that money I paid and buy a whole new plan!

WTF??? 4th bad thing is when I found out that with their service, YOU CANNOT TETHER! At this point, I completely hated the company and WAS WILLING TO PAY THEM TO LEAVE! So, I called them and told them they could keep all the money I gave them but I need to take my phone to a new service provider. Guess what! NOPE! They keep a network lock on your phone FOR A FULL YEAR!!!! I couldn't even pay them to unlock it--which I offered! Apparently, even though that phone had the Straight Talk SIM card in it (transferred from ANOTHER Straight Talk phone,) IT DOES NOT QUALIFY TO BE UNLOCKED. It was active and used for TWO almost THREE years with a STRAIGHT TALK SIM CARD. I have spoken to not one or two but SEVEN representatives today alone. Each one equally as rude as the next. I was put on hold twice for a total of two hours to speak to a "manager" that never answered.

Although they could see in their system that AT&T called Sunday, the 8th of September, to de-activate/cancel my service from this phone (by giving not only my phone number but the IMEI number as well) they still stand by saying the phone was never activated or used. Only the SIM card was. One, tell me how that makes any logical sense. Secondly, if you can see all of this and I've been a loyal customer for six or seven years now, why wouldn't you just unlock the darn phone... 100% will NEVER recommend Straight Talk to anyone ever again. Went to Walmart and purchase a "bring your own phone" plan for $55 so I could get a new SIM card and use my new AT&T phone. Called to get my service activated and my phone number transferred. They informed me that I was all set and I could use my phone without issues. Well, 5 days later, I go to make a call and have absolutely no service. I called Straight Talk and they said they had no recollection of me adding a new plan and all they had done was transfer the remaining cycle from my old phone (Verizon) to the new one (AT&T). They asked for proof of purchase or if I had kept the bring your own phone PIN which I did not have since I thought this was already taken care of 5 days prior.

They apologized and said that they did not show any record of me buying a pin and that my service had expired from my previous (Verizon) plan. I told them I had purchased a AT&T sim card in order to be able to use my phone and that was on Sep 5. I lost service on Sep 9th. Needless to say, they informed me that because I had no proof of purchase besides my AT&T SIM card and they didn't show any records of adding the $55 plan, that there was nothing they could do. So I guess the $55 I spent on the 5th of Sep. were lost and thrown in the garbage because they didn't do the phone transfer as they should have. Now I'm having to pay another $55 today on Sep. 10th just to reactivate my phone.

Their lack of service has me extremely upset and after this experience I will NOT be using Straight talk wireless again. Agent's name was Marc and he did show willingness to help but when I asked to speak with the manager, the guy that came on the line (can't remember his name) but he basically told me that there was nothing he could do or get some sort of credit to make this right since it was their company that messed up. My phone has been in use for over a year, so it is eligible to be unlocked according to the Straight Talk policies. I have spent about 5 hours on the phone in the last 10 days, calling 1-2 times every single day only to work with incompetent customer service representatives after another. Each day someone said to “call back in an hour, our unlocking person isn’t here.” Then when I called back “the person who can unlock the phone has left for the day.” I was also told:

“We have to get in touch with Apple.” “Our unlocking system is down.” “Call back tomorrow.” I can verify that at least one of these excuses is a complete lie, since I called Apple to ask how they were involved with the unlocking process. They informed me that it is entirely up to the phone carrier and they aren’t involved in the unlocking process in any way. Avoid Straight Talk at all cost: a company that lies to their customers, gives them conflicting information, and is filled with incompetent workers who do not care about the customer. I was told my order was going to be cancelled, but then it wasn't and I got a notification that the phone and service was shipping. I called back very angry but got no help and was told that because the agent said the order was "going to be" cancelled and not that it "was" cancelled, that I didn't have a leg to stand on. So, I returned the phone and service plan. I was told I'd receive a refund for the lease from SmartPay and the service from Straight Talk.

I spoke with someone via Straight Talk's website and was told I'd receive the refund for the service within 30 days. Although I was pissed it would take so long, I waited. And waited. I contacted them again and was given the runaround trying to contact the refunds department. Then I was told that I would not be receiving a refund for the service even though I didn't use it and was told from both SmartPay and Straight Talk that I'd be receiving a refund. Their customer service is horrible and was no help at all in resolving this issue. Now I am out $50. I would've kept the damn card had I known I wouldn't receive a refund, but I was told that I would be...by several different people. I am cancelling my service and will never use these companies again. They both have TERRIBLE and foreign customer service. I was lied to and then treated like crap by both companies. This is after being a customer of Straight Talk for several years.

They keep messaging me and telling to thanks for contacting Straight Talk and I haven't even contacted them since our last problem I had with them about my phone. So here is my problem with the Straight Talk company. When it sends them these thanks for contacting Straight Talk my phone service is gone. I can't make a call or anything. I have been dealing with this a few times now and after I called and complained about it it was fine for a while now. Tonight I get an email that says, "Thank you for contacting Straight Talk. Please turn your phone off and back on again and make a call. If you can't make a call please repeat the steps." Well I did what it asked and I still have no phone service. Mind you I car on a phone call when my drives was cut off and my service plan isn't up yet. I hope no one else is having this problem like I am. It is very irritating.

I feel with all the problems that they have caused me and my job cause I use my phone for work they are messing with my work life. I can't make phone calls or receive any if I'm needed on a job site. This is very upsetting that us customers. If my service isn't working by morning they will be getting a call and it won't be a nice one this time. I'm thinking of changing companies. I don't want to cause I have been with Straight Talk for a long time but I can't keep going like this with them interrupting my service for no reason when the plan isn't up yet or sending me a email like they did. After being told by customer service this morning it would be, I received an email the same afternoon that the phone was in high demand and would not be delivered and CC wouldn't be charged. I checked my CC and it had been charged. I was leaving for vacation on Friday and really just wanted a phone and plan before we left.

I talked to 4 people before getting to a manager and still nothing of getting a phone could be done, any phone. It was going to take 3-5 days to get my $ back ( which is typical) but NOTHING was done for any inconvenience. I understand things happen, but I was told by CC wasn't charged when it actually was AND on the same day first was told the phone would be shipped that day or maybe tomorrow and then told it was cancelled due to high demand later. Nothing was done except a "sorry we'll refund your money"...it will take 3-5 days. In any circumstance that would of been fine, but I research and ordered the phone last week so it would arrive this week before vacation. Highly disappointed.

Just want everyone to be aware of the poor business practice of Straight Talk online. I bought one of their phones online. The phone did not work. Their customer service thought maybe either the phone or the sim card was bad. Straight Talk shipped me a new sim card but sent it to the wrong address in town. The address they used was so far off, the package got delivered to the other side of town.

Also, I noticed today, Straight Talk has 4 inactive phones now listed on my account when there should only be 3; however, only 2 of the phones listed are mine. So I do not know where or why the other two phones are listed. I spoke with Straight Talk customer service this morning about my returning the inoperative phone. I am told that if I want a refund, I have to pay for the return shipping in full!!! The agent also did not answer my question as to if they require a particular method for returning the phone. The agent disconnected! So now I have to call their refund department to get full details as to requirements for returning the piece of crap phone.

The promotion came with specific instructions on how to benefit from it. So my wife and my son (Straight Talk customers) bought a new Straight Talk smart phone (1st step in the instructions) for me and I activated the new phone (2nd step in the instructions). I then tried to claim the promotional free service plan and gift card (3rd step in the instructions) by logging in to the provided website but it did not work. So I called Straight Talk for help with this using my home landline.

After several calls and being passed around to different agents, I was finally told that the reason my promotional items were denied was because I called them from a landline and not an existing Straight Talk phone, that is my wife's phone or my son's phone, and that I didn't call before the promotion ended even though I activated the new phone well before the expiration of the promotion as stated in the promotional instructions. This is a good example of misleading and deceptive marketing tactics on the part of Straight Talk to bait potential new customers and then refuse to deliver on their promise due to a contrived technicality. I am very disappointed in Straight Talk and will look for another provider that is more honest and will honor promotional commitments.

I ordered a new Samsung Galaxy S8 via their website and of course you have to purchase a plan with it. My total was about $412. It took me 5 days to get the initial phone and when I received it, it was defective. I couldn't open emails, couldn't text because the messaging app just kept "force closing", nor could I make a call and hear the person on the other line. I immediately contacted Straight Talk and asked for a refund. The lady I spoke to encouraged a replacement phone and that would fix the problem. Against my better judgement, I waited another 5-7 days for the replacement. I received that and it was doing the same exact things the previous phone did. I think they just received the defective phone back, slapped a piece of plastic on the front as if it was new and mailed me the same phone back. They claim they have different IEM numbers but that is not true. So now I am almost 3 weeks without a cell phone.

When I received the replacement with the same issues, I called Straight Talk to initiate my refund. They don't know their right hand from their left and they must not make notes on people's accounts because they seem to not have a clue what is going on. The guy I spoke to said I couldn't get a refund because it has been 30 days. I asked him to research and he would see that I purchased it 6/18/2019 and it had been less than 30 days and that I want my money back. At this point, I don't want a phone, service or anything from them. They asked me to mail the phone back to their refund center and of course I had to pay $16 for shipping via FedEx. (Great customer service for a phone they sent me TWICE that was defective on their part.) They got the phone back now last Wednesday because I tracked it and called them right away to give me my money back.

Every time I have called, there is a different response and they aren't too keen on giving refunds for their defective devices. Now we are almost 5 weeks later and still without a cell phone because I have to wait on their reimbursement in order to get another one, through another carrier. They are liars, tell you anything to get you off the phone and their so called managers don't have a clue either. They are in the business of keeping people's hard earned money just like they would be if they called and scammed you out of it. I have disputed with my bank because they stated initially it would take 3-5 business days for a refund and now it is 1-30 business days. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone and NEVER go back with their "service." By the way, when you call them and get upset about what THEY are causing, they will hang up on you and you will have to call back.

US MILITARY SERVICE MEMBER REVIEW. After having their service for 18 months they decide that they no longer can use my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 on their service. This is a $1500 phone and her response was, "Go buy a Straight Talk Galaxy." So now I will have to go buy another phone exactly the same but on their plan. I'm not gonna do that period, you've had my phone for 18 months on your service and now of a sudden it's not eligible for connectivity? What a bunch of Scams these people run. When I did have their phones I would have to replace them every 6 to 12 months because they would just quit working (13 PHONES IN 5 YEARS). And every time I would call they would explain to me they no longer carry those phones.

They don't make those phones ANYMORE & I'd have to go purchase an upgrade. After leaving Verizon and having amazing experience with them I came to Straight Talk with my phone because it was cheaper and they advertised the same service if not better. It is a lie. Constant dropped calls and most of the time it's while you're in the middle of a conversation, a lot of dead zone with their service and mostly around my area, Fayetteville North Carolina. I've had my phone hijacked twice and both times were on their service and both times I had different phones. Once I signed up using Straight Talk on the Bring Your Own phone plan and immediately I started getting telemarketing calls & calls for continuing education. They will sell your information.

I pay for unlimited 30 day plan. My data start slowing down after a certain amount of time, but yet they advertise unlimited data with no caps. And when you wanna use the Internet to play video games or cruise the Web, you got A 50/50 shot that it's even gonna come on. Unless you have your phone connected to Wi-Fi you will not be able to use your phone and your Internet at the same time. Example, driving down the road in Georgia. No clue whatsoever where I'm at and it's 2 o'clock in the morning, my maps are no longer available because my Internet that I pay the phone company for is no longer working. So I was stuck on the side of the road out in the country for over 5 hours before someone actually came riding through to tell me how I could get out of that stretch of the woods.

Also I notice that my map is wrong more than it used to be as far as directions go. When you tried to get help for any reason through Straight Talk, do not expect to speak to an American. Their phones are forwarded to places in Afghanistan and Turkistan. Just check it out for yourself and be wary. I thought I was getting a great deal going from Verizon who was charging me over $200 a month to Straight Talk who charged me less than 60 for unlimited everything. What a mistake I made, I promise you I will not be going back to this company. Purchase the phone and the service through Straight Talk at your own risk. But once you see all the money you spend to replace or upgrade, in the end, you could have bought 5 or more of the most popular phones.

I wanted to keep the phone number I've had with Straight Talk for around 10 years. I called Straight Talk and talked with a representative. She told me to change my number over to the new carrier and then call Straight Talk back and they could process the refund.

I did that and then called Straight Talk back. Ended up being told that not only would they not refund my money, but I lost any time left on the account when I deactivated my phone. In that case, I told her to activate my phone and just give me another number. She said that I could not because my remaining time is now gone since I deactivated my phone when I gave my phone number to the new carrier. It's July 10th and I'm paid up with Straight Talk until August 18th of this year. I get that they may not want to issue refunds, but to just flat out steal money, by not allowing me to activate my old phone, and giving me a new number is complete theft.

This company would do so much better if they gave people the option to upgrade their phones without having to purchase another service plan on top of the one that they already have. I want to pay for my plan with one card and my phone with the other but they have it set up where you have to have them both bundled or you can't get the phone you want. This is very poor business if you ask me. If I can split the two payments then I can afford it otherwise, it is too expensive to do when trying to upgrade 2 phones. That's $200 a month on one account rather than $100 per account on 2 accounts. This company needs to put their customer first rather than the bottom dollar. Maybe then they wouldn't lose so many people.

I hear all the time about how bad their customer service is and have even experienced it first hand. They employ people overseas that are very rude on the phone. I even had one guy hang up on me after repeatedly asking to speak to a supervisor. If I could afford to go to a company that was here in the states I would. I've had my new Straight Talk mobile phone and new cell phone number since June 11, 2019. I have no complaints about the cell phone. It works perfectly and is in perfect condition. My problem is with my 'new' cell phone number. Ever since I got this 'new' number*service, I've had nothing but issues. From day two, I've been harassed by bill collectors and companies trying to get ahold of 'Bernard **.' I've had calls from individuals seeking out 'Bernard **', and when I try to explain that this is a new cell phone account and 'Bernard **' is not attached to it, the person/s on the other end become quite irate and accuse me of lying. I've also received calls from outside of the United States, all ringing in the wee hours of the morning.

It seems 'Bernard **' has quite the reputation and unfortunately, I'm having to deal with the ripple effects of his decision making. This has been incredibly inconvenient for me. Either my sleeping hours are disturbed or I have to turn my phone off to escape these disruptions -- which I'm not going to do, because I have children.

One of which is in Marines and stationed overseas. Then during the day, I'm afraid to answer the phone, because bill collectors are after 'Bernard **' -- if I answer the phone, then I have to take away from my time to explain that I'm not 'Bernard **' and have no association with him. So, I miss calls that are meant for me -- beyond inconvenient. Another reason I cannot answer the phone, individuals seeking out 'Bernard **', that refuse to believe me when I tell them that I have no association with 'Bernard **' and promise them that I'm not hiding him.

It hasn't just been the calls and texts to 'Bernard **' that have caused me distress, frustration, and inconvenience. I've been unable to associate the 'new' cell phone number to any of my own accounts, because the number is associated with 'Bernard **' and his accounts. So, when I've called about my accounts, I'm met with, "Well, this isn't your phone number and we aren't able to help you with this account." When I've tried to explain that this is my 'new' two week old phone number, they've told that there's nothing they can do. When I've tried resolving this issue, I've been locked out of my own accounts.

I understand phone numbers are recycled and this is a possible risk. What I have a problem with is, for two weeks MY use of MY unlimited service plan that I paid for with MY money has been inconveniently hindered and taken over by playing an unknowing, unwitting assistant or secretary to 'Bernard **' and his obvious irresponsibilities and bad choices.

I want Straight Talk to give me back the two weeks worth of service and personal time spent and lost having to deal with a very bad, recycled number. I didn't choose this number. It was given to me. And I've been the one paying for it ever since, with MY money and MY time. I don't want to push buttons on a phone. I want to deal with a human. This isn't a mere 'button pushing' situation. This goes way beyond recorded prompts, messages, and button pushing.

I needed a phone to do my ride sharing. I bought a Pre-Paid Straight Talk Phone Card for Unlimited Data at $55 at Walmart. When I got home it said my phone was no longer compatible. No reason why, just a window that pops up and says “We are improving our services for you." But unfortunately this phone is no longer compatible. I asked Customer Service (in futility) and they just regurgitated the same thing. I looked it up and the iPhone 5s is most certainly compatible with 4G LTE. But it still refused to let me use the phone.

So I had to buy a NEW phone. I was contemplating upgrading my iPhone but THANK GOD I decided against it. I bought a much cheaper phone instead. After I put the whole thing together and was close to having it set up, a window popped up at the bottom saying, “Your request is taking longer than expected. Please try again later.” We tried getting this to work for 3 hours at Walmart. I then took it home and continued to talk to “customer support” where they proceeded to pretend they were actually doing things. Finally I was transferred to a “manager”. He kept saying, “Okay now press star 7 and your phone will be activated”. I thought, "okay, star 7 on my keypad." But then he said, “No, star 7 on your phone you are activating”. I said, where do I press this? “Yes, please press it.” Okay, WHERE?” “Yes please press it now.” This went on for sometime, I could go into the details deeper but it only gets worse.

VERY long story short, I lost a lot of time and money yesterday, that’s including over $100 for the phone and card, and money for my business. I have to complete a certain number of rides by Monday. Today is Saturday, and I haven’t been able to do a single one. If I don’t do the minimum rides I have to return my vehicle, then it’s back to being without a job. This experience with Straight Talk was an absolute nightmare, and I’m still going through it. I will never use Straight Talk again, and I urge everyone to stay away from them. The extra $10 or $20 you pay for the real cell phone providers (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, even T-Mobile) is worth it. I’m not going to say Walmart should be ashamed that they sell this service. I’m going to say that they should be sued. You CANNOT be selling something that does not work, especially when someone’s livelihood is on the line. Absolutely terrible. Horrendous.

As a side note: I don’t want to be THAT guy, but this has really opened my eyes to our selling of American jobs to overseas for cheap labor. The people these companies “hire” can barely speak English. In fact I’ve had more fluent conversations with a rock. But this cheap outsourcing is promoted by lazy people like Tim Ferris. These are jobs taken away from Americans so big business can save a dollar. It’s absolutely disgusting. Take a look at Apple’s customer service. It’s FLAWLESS. Perfect. Everyone speaks English crystal clear and they’re on top of their **. But most people are tiny and would rather be greedy. That’s why these money mongrels will never be Steve Jobs. Because they’re only in it for themselves and their life-style. I do not blame the people who work for Straight Talk but I do blame us Americans for letting scum companies like this exist while we all sit back and let them rake in their money.

It'd be great if SOMEONE knew what was going on. Apple help has spent over 2 hours on hold with me with this company. There is no structure or actual supervisors that can tell them what to do to make our new product work. Every technician says that they're leaving notes on your account (which takes over 5 minutes) but you have to explain yourself every time, even though you're being 'elevated to a higher rep'. Absolutely awful as soon as you need real assistance.

When leaving the service they didn't refund 1 of my prepaid cards because it had been keyed in already. But I couldn't use it because I switched to another company due to their service not working. We had purchased an Apple phone from them at the same time but couldn't move that phone until it completed a year with them.

It's been a year and we are trying to move the phone to Verizon. It's been 2 days and the phone is still locked to Straight Talk. Phone calls to tech support they continue to repeat that it's been requested and when asked what is taking so long or what can be done to fix the problem they hung up on me. Meanwhile my wife has no use of her phone. Also same as with my phone her phone renewed 2 days ago but they will not refund the balance of the prepaid card.

She didn't get it the next day and I actually had to drive her to the FedEx shipment center in Tyler, TX to get her package. She wanted her $14 back, and got nowhere with Straight Talk. They did nothing to try and help her. One girl, Lisa, was being EXTREMELY discriminatory, and beyond rude. It got to the point where my sister got a hold of corporate, and after still getting nowhere with them, the "manager" at the corporate office hung up on her, and then proceeded to disconnect her service.

I took it upon myself to call corporate for Tracfone Wireless to complain about this, and they actually helped me. They got her phone back on. I would leave 0 stars for Straight Talk if I could! They are the absolute worst, and the customer service is the exact reason I quit using Straight Talk! Do not go through them unless you just wanna be treated like a dumb child. My service loses the connection often, and even though I pay for the unlimited plan, I usually get slow. I dropped and broke the glass on my old phone, so purchased a new one. When setting up my account, I got a warning saying my phone wouldn't work with the updated 5g system. It was already past the ten day time period for returns Walmart allows, so I'm stuck with the phone. The manager at the Walmart where phone was purchased even told me she thought Straight Talk was not reliable. If you like frustration and lots of coverage interruptions, go with Straight Talk. I was quoted the discount price on the ‘preview’ screen where I was to list my credit card information for payment. Thinking I would be paying the amount quoted, I completed the payment transaction as was reflected ‘Auto Pay Enrolled’. However, I noticed shortly after the transaction was made, I was charged regular price. I first chatted with customer service who saw the error and referred me to call 1-867-6470 along with a PIN number to reference my account.

Upon calling this number, the customer service representative was very rude to me, and said I enrolled in auto pay after my payment, which is why I did not receive a discount. Ok, so how I would I know the discount price after taxes are applied? It’s only $5 I know, but he would not budge even after I told him the previous representative saw the error on THEIR end! Leaving a review is the only way I’m able to make it public for other potential and/or current Straight Talk customers to be aware of this matter. I have no complaints with the service itself, but customer service goes a long way!

I am a very well educated person that pays most of my bills online & makes purchases online frequently, so I do have some common sense. Obviously, I wouldn’t have made a stink if I would have even remotely thought I enrolled after making my payment! I feel insulted to be treated as if I don’t know what I’m talking about. I immediately unenrolled with auto pay, because after my son’s prepaid plan is over this month, I will be switching to a different prepaid phone provider. I would rather pay a little more each month to have quality customer service than to deal with this type of behavior!

The phone costed 100$. You can't activate the phone at all unless you use another phone or have a wifi signal at all. Once activated 60gb unlimited service you only get literally 1 bar of service LTE 4g signal. It's complete false advertising to say you have unlimited access to 1 bar of service on a 4g network when the other plans are exactly the same. Trying to load a webpage with a picture on it from the non wifi phone signal is ridiculous! It's a sham.

On top of that after the 60gb depending if you actually can use the falsely advertising of unlimited 1 bar (basically call only service for a touch phone is appalling) you can't even play a simple game app on the phone 'cause the signal is so poor. Best part is the other phones are exactly the same brand on the shelves with no other options. Don't bother buying this phone at all. I bet the price of this phone if I returned it they would put it back on the shelf. Best not to return it at all just more technology trash for landfills... I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT NOR EVER USE THIS BRAND AGAIN.

Cell phone tower is not even 2 miles away from my current location. Service will not be renewed. Don't pay for a phone that's basically calls only. Good luck using the internet without wifi. This is written from a wifi signal take like 30 mins to load the page with the plan. 100% junk and overpriced. Shame to I expected a actual good phone service I was incredibly disappointed. Learn more: with a link from them (http://st-w.co/LoRRp01)." This led to a website from Straight Talk with a video saying I had to buy a new phone in the next 6 months as they are migrating to VoLTE service that my phone is not compatible with that VoLTE network upgrade so I must buy a new phone. So after way too much research I discovered that the service I paid to Straight Talk is really Tracfone and they use Verizon as their carrier, and it is Verizon that is making this network upgrade.

I started to look at the so called discounted phones that they say will work on the system after this network upgrade and much to my surprise the very same phone I now have is still being sold on the site with not a single word that it will not work in 6 months just as when I bought my phone a year ago. Not one word of warning. I did even more research and found that Verizon notified all of its subprime network resellers of this system change over 2 years ago. It seems that Tracfone is pulling a scam and Straight Talk is just going right along with it.

It is time we all stand up and say no more. This action by Straight Talk and Tracfone is illegal at worst and immoral at least. So I am contacting FTC and FCC and the BBB to file formal complaints as well as looking into a possible Class action litigation to make sure that Tracfone is not making a huge profit at the expense of the customer. By making them pay for new phones because they sold phones they knew would not work well prior to the average and standard usage rotation by the average wireless customer. Stand up people and take Straight Talk and Walmart to task as well to put pressure on Tracfone to act in good faith as any business is required to do by law here the USA. If we all stand up and flood Walmart the main seller of Straight Talk prepaid with complaints and file complaints with Fed. Trade Commission and Fed Communication Commission.

Don't buy a new phone. Take a stand and make Tracfone provide the good faith business we are paying for. After all they sold and continue to sell phones that they know will no longer work in 6 months without even one word of notice to the consumer. If you wish to join in any future class action for damages to be paid to the consumer. Thank you for reading.

I got a Straight Talk phone in 2017. Brand new. Advertised 8gb of storage, only had 1 gb usable. I was annoyed about the lack of storage, but I lived with it. Data service became spotty, going from 3G to 1X or even nothing at all while I wasn't moving, but that probably happens with every provider. Sometimes I would have to turn my phone onto Airplane Mode and then back off again just to get it to use data again. And it was completely useless if I went out of state, literally crossing a state border would turn off my service (I live in Iowa and this was observed with both Illinois, in CHICAGO of all places, and Missouri) presumably because it was out of my "home area" which may be common with other service providers, I don't know. But whatever. It operated.

Except, now they're saying that my phone, which is only two years old, isn't LTE compatible, and so service will be ending at the end of this year. They're spamming me constantly to buy a new phone, NOW. LTE came out in 2009. They were fully capable of putting LTE in my phone, and chose not to in order to force me to buy a more expensive one down the line after I was already a customer. The joke is on them, I guess; I can't afford a LTE phone, so I'll be transferring to a shared contract with some friends soon. Trying to bully me into buying a new phone has convinced me to take my service elsewhere. Pros: You can end your service at any time with no fees, which is great when you want to leave. The 2gb data plan also isn't very expensive, but it looks like Verizon has the exact same thing for the exact same price, so it's not THAT good.

Cons: Intentionally misleading advertising about storage, they take the cheaper road to screw you over later. Ultimately, not actually a very good option for people on a budget because of this. If I bought a new phone through them now because of the LTE issue, I'd have to pay it off monthly just like any other service provider, and their service is nowhere near good enough to warrant that. The only real benefit over other companies is a lack of contract. You get what you pay for, and Straight Talk is cheap.

I have been a Straight Talk customer for 10yrs. Two months ago I upgraded my Galaxy Note 4 to a Galaxy Note 8 (bought offline). Needless to say after countless hours on the phone, many phone calls, rudeness, they hanging up on me, poor English and not understanding (both parties), my new phone still does not multitask (talk & internet at the same time) like my old phone did.

I use to love my Service and had no problems. Now I don't. I have a new phone and it doesn't not perform to its full potential and customer is no help. They told me it was because I didn't purchase from them and it was a Verizon phone. It was their issue. I called Verizon and Verizon called Straight Talk with me on the phone telling them it's a Straight Talk problem, the manager at Straight Talk hung up on me. I hope they get better customer service and realize the script they have to follow is not every callers issue. The end result does fix the problem and the customer that keeps them with a job still have a unresolved issue.

I'm a long time customer of Straight Talk. Last week I purchased a Galaxy S9+ phone from them for a total of $854. It was so hard for me to use (is very heavy and too big for my hand) and several features either didn't work or were beyond my understanding. I decided to return the phone and have my service switched back to my previous phone through Straight Talk -- a Galaxy S4. I thought I'd at least have phone service while I shopped again for a newer model. That's when the trouble began. Try as I might through literally hours on the phone with customer service, the "port" department, etc. the phone would not work. I worked on and off with Straight Talk from 9am until 10:10pm that night.

The next morning I drove to my brother's house to use his phone so I could work with Straight Talk having the S4 available. 1 hour and 10 minutes later I was told all was fixed and to turn the phone off then on and it would work -- but if it didn't to wait a few minutes and try again. I did....and it didn't. It is now two days later and multiple times through this process I was assured the phone was ready to go just turn it off and back on again.... and I still have "No Service". I was forced to go and buy another phone (this time I opted for the S8 for another $536.00), change my phone number, set up a new account and activate the phone. To sum up: it is very easy to activate phones but don't try to do anything other than activate or buy air time. The rest is a total nightmare. I cannot stress it more emphatically.

Multiply the cost of a phone plan by 3, now times that by 24. That is roughly 2,520 dollars spent on this service. Not including the phone cost themselves that were purchased from Straight Talk. About 3 days ago, my phone with Straight Talk service stopped working. I called Straight Talk and they gave me THE WORST customer service I have ever experienced.

They violated many policies, and implied to me that it is my fault my service isn't working because "I must have switched my original SIM card with someone else's 3 days ago or put it in a different phone." They then gave me a SIM card number that exactly matched the one in my phone but couldn't explain why it wasn't working. Instead they accused me of changing it, meanwhile I have every bill for the past 2 years registered with my phone, number, and SIM card. They refuse to refund me or send me a new SIM card and were very rude. I will be pursuing a lawsuit against "Straight Talk Wireless" which should be name Straight Scam Wireless and I advise everyone to never give money to this company.

That’s right pay a bill for a 1-year before they will unlock your phone you paid for. Sounds a lot like a contract doesn’t it? Right! Then Customer service agents are extremely rude and disrespectful. They can’t help you and transfer you multiple times before you speak with someone that tells you they are sending you an email with instructions on how to fix it. So again, no help. I haven't proven this yet, but I'm almost positive that Straight Talk and all the other cheap cell phone services are actually using a VOIP connection which is phone service over the internet and not via cell phone lines. The sound is terrible and it's exactly like the VOIP service. I think these companies are not disclosing it. The only major lines are owned by the big companies, Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T. And by "lines" I'm referring to satellite/air lines. I think these companies are scamming everyone by using technicalities to get around what they are actually providing. I have been with Straight Talk for many years and just recently the service has gotten much worse, most likely due to the amount of users accessing their internet phone servers. This needs to be uncovered and exposed to the media and they need to disclose what they are actually selling.

If you want a clear signal you have to go with actual cell service-and that is provided by the major companies. In order to keep appearances away from Verizon, AT&T and Sprint from appearing to have a monopoly they probably help in keeping the cheap company’s true nature hidden-that way it looks like people have a choice. People paying for any of the cheap cell services are actually talking over the internet. I'm moving to Verizon as of today. I'm not paying one cent to to talk over the internet via an expensive mobile phone. They will be exposed sooner or later. Hopefully people will read my post and spread the word...don't pay money to them, maybe they will go out of business.

I went to Walmart & spent $50-$60 on a SIM card kit & a renewal code. Now, I called customer service about 4-5 times to get it set up since about half of them knew English... one of the calls I supposedly spoke to a "supervisor" who kept asking me over & over again "Do you have data?" when I kept telling him "My data is not working," and he put me on hold then hung up.

When I finally got a hold of someone they told me I needed to buy another SIM card kit... I JUST BOUGHT ONE! They told me that the SIM card was registered under another device which wasn't possible considering I had just bought it. I asked them to send me a SIM card & they said I would have to go to Walmart & buy another kit, or spend $2 on a SIM card over the phone. Keep in mind, I've had a lot of fraud from over the phone, so I prefer not to give my card number through it. I asked the lady why they couldn't send me a less than $2 SIM card for free when I pay them almost $60 every month. They screwed up somewhere in their system with the SIM cards & because of that, they're telling me to pay more money.

I told them I wasn't paying them any more money considering that I had bought a SIM card that didn't work which was on their fault. At this point I was getting frustrated & straight up told the lady "I'm not buying anything from you" & hung up. The same lady (said her name was Jessa or something, claimed she was a manager) calls me back trying to sell me the damn SIM card I told her I didn't want to purchase...

At this point I'm fuming & have already made the decision to switch carriers. The next day I go to the Verizon store to switch with them & it took 2 HOURS to switch over. Why? Because Straight Talk was somehow holding my phone number and would not give me my account number. This poor guy was making phone calls back & forth for me making sure I get to keep my phone number (since I've had it for about 10 yrs now). He spoke to about 3-4 reps before we were able to figure out how to transfer my phone number over. It was a NIGHTMARE!

Overall, NEVER USE STRAIGHT TALK! It's $55 a month for unlimited everything... I'd rather pay an extra $15 a month with Verizon so I can have good customer service & faster data. I've never experienced such bad customer service before. I'm not sure who trains these people or how this company is organized but they have no idea what they're doing.

They false advertise they're truly unlimited. When you hit a certain amount they shut your service off. Also if you spend more on a phone that comes with a hot spot you're not allowed to use it. You can use it but again they will shut you off for using it so why sell it. Much better companies out there.

First, let me say that I have been in retail biz most of my working career and sometimes you have to step out of the box to take care of your customer to keep them as your customer. What I have experienced with Straight Talk is horrible. What has transpired is within 1/3/2019 to now 2/27/2019. Straight Talk Mess: To start with, my Mother is 80 years old and is basically homebound. She has some health issues too. Because of this we want to make sure that she can call 911 if needed and be able to call her family and that we can call her.

My Mother’s house burned down last year. Unfortunately she lost her phone. So, we decided to set up an account with Straight Talk to get her a phone. I purchased a phone and sent it to her in November. By the in of December her phone did not work anymore. Now I live in GA. and she lives in FL. So I called ST and tried to find out what might be going on. They said that I didn’t pay the bill which is wrong because it’s set up on autopay. So, a friend went over to Mom’s place and let her use their phone to call and diagnose what might be happening. After two hours on the phone ST said that it was a bad SIM card and that they would ship her one and she would get it in 3-5 days. This is a standard script for them. Everything is 3-5 days.

Well after two weeks and nothing delivered, I called and found out that they shipped it to the wrong address. I talked to six different people “foreigners” to correct the address. They said they would ship another to her, 3-5 days. After 10 days I found out that they sent it to the wrong address again. So they shipped another and she finally got it. After putting in the card, it still did not work so they said that it was a defective phone. I talked to Juan at ST and he said that because of the situation, he would have a new replacement phone sent to her and when she got it, she was to put the defective phone back in the box and put the return label on and send it back. Then she could reactivate the new phone. Of course he said that she will get it in 3-5 days.

After a week I called ST again to find out what was going on. They said that they sent it and that it was delivered. I go in touch with Mom again and she went to check and there was a FedEx box on the front porch. After opening it, they found that it was an empty box. So she put the bad phone in, put the label on and sent it back. Now after about a week, I called ST again to find out what the process was going to be. They said that they had not received it yet. Put me on hold and checked again. Got back on the phone with me and said that they actually had received it and that Mom would get her replacement in 3-5 days.

OK, after a week I called ST again and they said that they never got the bad phone so they did not ship the new one. They put me on hold to check again because I repeated what I was told that they did get it. They came back and told me that there was a misunderstanding and no update on the case number, but they did get it and she would get the new phone in 3-5 days. After a week with no phone delivered, I called ST again and went through the exact same thing again. I was told that they would ship it out and that she would again get it in 3-5 days. At this time I wanted them to ship it to me and that I would personally take it down to her to ensure all was good. So they now said that they would ship it to me and that I would get it within 3-5 days.

After a little more than a week, I got a package. After opening it up and finding that it was empty. It was a box to ship back the defective phone. I called ST again only to find that they said that I needed to ship the defective phone back to them first, then when they get it they would ship the new phone and should get it in 3-5 days. OMG! So I told them that they already had the phone. So they checked again and found that they had it and apologized for the inconvenience. They then said AGAIN that they would ship it out and I should get it in 3-5 days.

Well here we are over a week later and I called them today to find out what is going on. They are now telling me that they could not ship it because they don’t have any and that it’s on backorder. So, I asked them to just credit me back for the phone and the service month of Jan. that we paid for but could not use because we had no phone. They are now telling me that this is not possible. How can a multi-million dollar company not be able to issue a CC credit to take care of a customer that they have screwed. After almost two months, as of today I still have no replacement phone.

Here is a little more info. Any time I called them, I got someone in a foreign country. Their corporate office is in Miami, FL. So I asked for a phone number of corporate to actually speak to someone that spoke good English and could help me. The number I got takes you out to another country too. I found out that you can not speak to anyone in Miami corporate office and that anyone you call does not have any power to help. As I write this, I’m waiting for another supervisor to call me back to try again to get a refund. I would never recommend anyone use Straight Talk. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. As of today 2/27/19 I have not heard back to settle this situation.

My husband and I have been with Straight Talk for a very long time as well as adding our kids. We have had a lot of problems over the years, but now they're charging us an extra $7.21 PER LINE. Here is the reasoning: "A fee, charge or surcharge to fund state and/or local E911 related programs imposed by law on prepaid wireless users or assessed by us to recover the cost of complying." "This amount is to help recover our contribution requirement to federal universal service." "This amount is to help recover our costs related to complying with government regulations and programs."

These are all costs that WE are paying into that Straight Talk is responsible for. Notice the wording 'us and our'? This is not our responsible to be paying, it's Straight Talk for not complying with laws in the first place and getting in trouble. So now the users are being held responsible for paying their fines. They are now more expensive than Charter, Verizon & AT&T. Why in the world would anyone pay extra for the crap customer service they provide? Switch, it's the best thing I've done. If you're looking for something cheaper give Republic Wireless or Mint Mobile a try. They have caps on data, but that's what you deal with when looking for a cheaper plan. Don't forget, even the big name companies are now cheaper than ST and they do offer unlimited data packages. THESE ARE NOT YOUR FEES AND FINES TO BE PAYING.

ALL lies. I cannot send back the phone because there is an early payout fee and or a return fee- I have been robbed. Also another HUGE problem is ever since buying the new phone I now receive about 10-15 phone soliciting calls a day - ironic or did they sell my contact information to these solicitors.

I have been using Straight Talk for almost 9 years. Since their phones were lacking, I continually have made use of the "Bring Your Own Phone" plan and usually haven't had too big of a problem with the phones working other than them being time-consuming to set up. I've always elected to be on auto refill. For many months, I've been magically booted out of auto refill wondering why my phone isn't working, but hey, you get what you pay for, right? I thought, well, Straight Talk is cheap enough for me to put up with these headaches. I've finally decided I've had enough.

With my current phone brought to the plan that is "compatible," after it was first set up, the GPS wouldn't work. After several phone calls (and hours), the GPS finally started working after I was told "That should have been switched when you were first set up." Fast forward, GPS works, but now, I am unable to see or send picture messages or use the bluetooth in my car--these are all things that worked while the GPS did not work. I called Straight Talk today (1 month later) to find out that they cannot check these things because I don't have any more high speed data to use. They told me to check my wifi connection.

I explained that there is no trouble with my wifi connection. However, unless I buy more data, they will not look into it because they don't see it as their problem (even though I had plenty of data when the issue started happening). I spoke with a customer service rep and a supervisor. Neither of them were the least bit helpful. After years of struggles, this is the last straw. I can no longer stick with a company that randomly disconnects my phone AND is entirely unhelpful. Even though I love to save money, I will look elsewhere.

After several years with Straight Talk, I upgraded my phone. New Straight Talk brand phone kept disconnecting from service. No error message showed up. I just realized the hard way when texts wouldn’t go through, or someone who tried to contact me via cell emailed me and I got the message on my laptop. None of the customer service people would advise me to get a new phone until the fourth time this disconnection occurred. Walmart discontinued the phone, but didn’t tell users. Still in the process of returning that phone.

When I tried to order a different phone, the website glitched and placed two orders. Even though I never got a confirmation screen at all, only a screen that said my request couldn’t be processed. They refused to cancel one of the orders, even though this was entirely the fault of their shoddily run website. I now have one defunct phone, and I’m waiting on one hopefully functional phone, along with an additional phone I did not want, that I’ll have 60 bucks tied up in for over a week. Straight Talk is an inexpensive carrier, but that cheap cell service comes at the cost of poor customer service.

As a general rule, I will only post positive or informative reviews - my experience with ST was so bad, I am obliged to go negative and hopefully save a few poor souls the fate I incurred. We've been ST customers (with two accounts) for almost four years, and have no complaints with their BYOD/auto refill service. However, we recently found a new/less expensive carrier and set forth to transfer one of our two accounts at the conclusion of its end date (the second we will move in a few months).

Over a three day period and approximately 14 hours of calls between ST porting dept and the new carrier, we finally got service established with our new carrier. A LOT happened in those 14 hours - with the notes I took, I could write pages of what I am not convinced were deliberate attempts to lie and obfuscate the porting process to our new provider. When our new provider was prepared to complete the transfer process there was always a last minute roadblock. A port was magically locked, or the some detail with the information that was provided to ST from the new carrier became miraculously 'inaccurate.'

My personal favorite was (at about hour 6 of phone calls with ST) I was asked to provide a ticket #, when the previous half dozen customer reps/tech support people, not once, mentioned the need for a ticket number - THOUGH I had asked several times how my issue was being tracked on their end. (I was told the phone # was the tracking method.) It became what I perceived as a never ending circle of lies, ostensibly so that ST wouldn't lose our business. Finally (stupid me) I got the idea to conference in the ST and new carrier rep, and voila...a Festivus miracle! The problems on ST's end seemed to evaporate, go figure?! Hence my warning (borrowed from Hotel California) to all who opt for ST service!!

Reps need better training for upgrade activations. When calling to get a sim card, I ended up buying both CDMA and GSM cards because they weren't sure which one I needed. When I called to activate, she had me try the GSM one first and then she said it wasn't the correct one and to open and insert the CDMA card instead. It didn't work so I was transferred 3 times and was on the phone over 70 minutes. Finally they gave me a case number and a phone number that was good for 2 weeks, in case it took that long to get it fixed. I was assured my old phone would continue to work, which it did not.

The next morning I got up and was extremely angry because I needed my phone to call back but neither worked. I decided to remove the CDMA card and try the GSM card again. I powered the phone back on and sent myself a text which was successful. I got online and LO and BEHOLD the account was reflecting the GSM sim card. I attempted to call the number and it went through. When I told them I changed cards back to the first one tried, he tried to tell me that the problem was with Straight Talk and I needed to put the other one back in. I told them to close out the case because it was working and I was not waiting for two weeks to have them fix "their" system. He thought about it and finally agreed. I wouldn't have even bothered to call them back but the rep insisted that I had to let them know if it was working. Well, it was working but no thanks to Straight Talk.

I attempted to submit this review on the Straight Talk website and received the following response: "Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!" They filter out all negative complaints to their site. Censorship!

Fix the service plans to match the calendar dates! I just had to cancel my auto refill because I am on a fixed income which does not come till the 1st (which some months it comes earlier due to weekends or holidays), Straight Talk's only solution to the issue is for me to sit here without service till I figure out a convenient date to refill that will work with my check monthly.

Seriously? That's the best they can do... I think we the customers needs take their ** back to court, like we done over the unlimited data they cheated us out of. So for those wanting to enroll in auto refill program... Make sure you're not on a monthly income or week to week check, because you won't be able to cover the refill. She stated that if I wanted the information I would need to take the call... So I did at 10:45 PM. I followed the auto prompts to reach a manager when they called only to get a recording that their office was closed and I would need to call during business hours. Verizon got on the phone with me today and the matter was resolved after 5 minutes. Do NOT go with Straight Talk. Verizon now has a prepaid plan that is less than 1/2 the cost of Straight Talk. They are not forthcoming with the details (like purchasing a separate SIM card) needed to meet those requirements. Post on their Facebook and they want you to contact them to “work it out” even though they have no intentions of working anything out, they just don’t want the negative comments on their FB page. Stay away Straight Talk! They are nothing but scammers! Period!

Straight Talk phones - where do I start? My 20-year-old son lost his Straight Talk phone in December while out on a horseback ride. We tried to find it, but it quickly became apparent that we were not going to find it and that it was mostly likely under three inches of fresh snow. His friend had an extra AT&T iPhone and offered it to him. He then took the time to travel to Wal-Mart to purchase a new SIM card AND a $45.00 Service pin for the iPhone. When he tried to install it, it wouldn't work.

This is where I come in - I called Straight Talk and spoke to a very nice lady in customer service who said the SIM card had been activated a day earlier and that she would send me a replacement SIM card. I received this card in the mail about five days later. This SIM card install was a success and the phone was up and operating on his previous paid plan. He had a text issuing him a new phone number, but he already had his existing number that he was using. When his phone notified him that his time was about to expire, he tried to add the $45.00 that came with the original SIM card. They declined the service pin.

Being a 20-year-old boy and all, he decided that he didn't have the patience to recoup his $45.00 and bought another $45.00 service pin and added it to his phone without incident. Since my son works for a wage, I thought it would be reasonable to see if I could get the $45.00 service pin that he didn't get to use rolled over to his borrowed phone.

I had the original SIM card number, I had the replacement SIM card number, I had the first $45.00 SIM pin, the second $45.00 SIM pin. I had an original ticket number, I had a reference number, I had the first SIM's underlined UPC (did not have the second SIM's underlined UPC), I had the number they assigned him before they knew he wanted his old number assigned to the new phone - I had everything. Yes, I had everything to prove the chain of events. At this juncture, I have spoken to numerous customer service representatives. Some of these representatives spoke such poor English that I could barely make out anything but "one moment while we review some information." I spoke to Charles, Aubrey, Christian, Albert and Peter and those are the names I could understand. I have spent in excess of three hours on the phone with these customer service representatives.

I was passed from person to person, describing each time the events leading to my call. Each time being told they were looking at the information. During my time spent waiting, I became so frustrated, I thought I couldn't be the only one encountering these issues, so I looked at the Better Business Bureau. I could see that they tallied numerous complaints and they had it broken down into different categories, but you could not view the complaints. I assume that Straight Talk must be one of their accredited businesses. So I continued to look on-line and found Consumer Affairs - WOW, what a list of nothing but negative comments concerning Straight Talk AND, they were citing the same complaints I was experiencing.

As I was on hold with Peter, reading the complaints, it became very clear that I would never recoup my son's $45.00 in any way, shape or form. I couldn't help myself at this point and I told Peter that I see all the complaints logged about Straight Talk in Consumer Affairs. I also told him that I had actually thought about buying four phones for our family to use, but considering the delays and lack of effort to resolve such a simple issue, I would never be buying or supporting Straight Talk again AND, that when my son's service expires. I would rather pay for him to be with a different provider than for him to continue with such a scamming company.

One thing during this entire ordeal that I now realize, is that not once did they ask me for the number I was calling from. In retrospect, I should have taken my husband's offer of $45.00 not to pursue our son's $45.00, I would have been further ahead, less angry and not so disappointed that there are actually companies out there that will do anything in their power to not make things right. What I experienced was not customer service, it was a calculated effort of greed.

SO I waited several months for the cheapest phone on this site to be available for online purchase. Once available, nearly done submitting my credit card info online on their site, a live cast person comes to ask if I need help. Not that I needed any help but person asks for me to wait patiently while they check to see if that phone is available at the moment. I had to wait for several minutes... Now I had read elsewhere in someone else's comment to be warned. That they will tell you they don't have and try to get you to buy a different phone. Sure enough that is EXACTLY what happened!

So they would have been happy to take my info & money but had no phone (the 1 had been waiting for)??? Does that not sound screwy people?? Honestly, I was a bit taking back. This all seems very shady to me. I can truly say that it may have just been a blessing in disguise cause I almost paid for... I don't know what would have come in the mail or happened. The Live chat did mention about trying another phone, but when I said, "No. Thank you", they were gentle about it, compared to previous experiences I've had with others who are in the dept for sales. And so we then said our goodbyes. But Come On!!!

So this cheap phone they advertise in my very honest opinion is just to reel you in like bait on a hook, and then get you to buy a different phone that of course charges more. NO THANKS! The entire idea of getting the cheap phone is because it is cheap in price! If I have to pay for a higher price phone I can certainly AND NOW I WILL, take it to a different company with better applications to offer and such. Thanks, but no thanks! Do NOT waste your time with these people!!! I should have took heed of warning from others that posted reviews! Lesson learned.

I got a text just now saying that my data was almost up so I called them just now and spoke to a very rude girl who pretty much told me that I would have to wait till my service end date which is the 25th!!! I just got charged $50 to receive the wrong plan and they can’t do anything about it?...when it’s THEIR fault! Literally beyond mad??? These people!!! Customer service sucks and will frustrate you to the max! I ordered a new cell SIM card because the current one I had was not compatible with the new phone I purchased! Straight Talk decided to require a signature for a $.99 SIM card! No one is home at the time of delivery in the middle of the day well because you know people do have jobs!!! They basically told me, "Order a new one and wait for a refund when FedEx sends it back"! No I couldn’t go pick it up from FedEx cause they are over an hour away from where I live! I seriously will make this my last month with them. I can’t deal any longer! The company needs to go out of business if they aren’t going to serve their customers correctly!

Was recently inquired to purchase the 55 dollar plan whereas I always stuck with the 45 dollar plan, I read the fine print. It states that data is restricted at or around 60 gb. Which is beyond reasonable. However I have 3g speeds masked as 4g LTE. I haven't even reached 3 gigs yet and they already killed my high speed. I paid 10 dollars more for the same plan. Try streaming YouTube with data cut. Not fun. Thinking about launching a lawsuit for misleading information and false advertising. I've already gotten two phones. One with the 45 dollar plan, 1 with the 55 dollar plan and literally the buffer rates past high speed are the exact same. You get 4 gigs high speed on both plans and after that, that's it.

The service is great, until you need customer service or tech support. They will waste HOURS of your time "checking their system", but will not resolve your problem nor will they credit you for service you pay for but don't receive. I've been with them about 4 yrs. They haven't fixed the issue or made it right. Have had issues since November, They refuse to refund the plan added 2 days ago when service was working. Spent another 3.5 hours with them today with 9 different people repeating same steps only to Supposedly make it to corporate supervisor on for him to say "I can't change policy," and hung up on me. I still have no mobile data and drop calls regularly. Do not be deceived by their cheap plans, they deliberately waste your time by keeping you on line for hours and accomplish nothing in that time.

They declined my review of 3 stars on the website because I was honest: My review on website: Product great! Customer service not so much. I had ran into a problem and had to call customer service. Instead of helping fix the problem, I came close to wanting to return the product because their customer service was the worst. They were rude, it took 14 minutes to find my information and then I was transferred to another person and he found it quickly but was very rude. My response from StraightTalk: "Brittany **, Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. I purchased one Straight Talk phone that worked for about 6 months; I contacted Straight Talk and had to send my new phone back to them, they sent me back a reconditioned phone; I was using it before Christmas 2018, and it shut off, saying that I didn't have no SIM Card; I have written to Straight Talk three times regarding my defective phone; no respond back from them. I went to Walmart in Savannah GA last Monday, and the man in electronics sold me a lesser cost phone by Straight Talk which it is now cutting me off while talking and also won't allow me to answer calls.

Today a lady at Straight Talk told me that since the warranty is out on the defective phone that I was using before Christmas is out of warranty that Straight Talk won't send me a replacement phone, but yet they want me to continue paying for something that isn't usable. Straight Talk is ripping people off. I will be returning the Straight Talk phone that I purchased last Monday December 31, 2018 back to Walmart for a refund. Buyers beware of Straight Talk phones; you'd be better off investing in a better company.

This was my original review to Straight Talk: "I bought this to use while traveling to areas I knew I would not have WiFi. And it worked just fine, UNTIL I needed to get more data. I purchased more data, leaving on the hotspot as instructed, but the new data didn't appear. I finally called, and they did something on their end, told me to turn it off, turn it on. Then it worked again -- for about 10 minutes. Another 1.5 HOURS on the phone with their support and being passed around to 3 or 4 different people, the final solution was the SIM needed to be replaced. I don't have time for that, as I won't be in current location by the time the new SIM would arrive, so I want to return it. Ok, I can do that. BUT, I will NOT be refunded for the 5G that I purchased that morning, because in that brief period of time when it worked, we used 61M. Will never purchase Straight Talk again. The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because when it did work, it was good".

I am now giving them 1 star after receiving the following from them about my review: "Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time! Submit something new. Thanks again, Straight Talk". There was nothing in the review form about any website guidelines. I had no profanity included in my review, so the only conclusion I can come to, is they didn't post it because it was negative, particularly of their service. Maybe others will find it useful here.

I bought my son a new phone for Christmas. His previous phone was on Straight Talk with an auto renew. He left his old Straight Talk phone with me. Had been dead for days and I had no charger to charge it so no minutes had been used since 12/25/18. On 1/3/19, his plan auto renewed. We both spoke to customer service on 1/3/19 and were both transferred to the "refund" department (in quotes because I am quite sure that no one will ever receive a refund after talking to this department). Anyway, even though no minutes had been used they were not going to issue him a refund. Buyer Beware, read all of the terms and conditions before purchasing a plan. Everything on there is aimed at protecting Straight Talk and not us, the consumer. They cover themselves well. On anything that I have ever had, if you cancel the auto renew/plan/service, I always get at least a prorated amount of money back.

I purchased two new Straight Talk phones and two plans for my Grands. One worked out fine. The second line had a number that was previously owned by someone else and was receiving text messages and phone calls that was inappropiate. I had phone number changed. Two days later, the phone service was disconnected. I talked to several people at straight talk and sent verification of phone purchase, minutes purchased. Still would not re-activate the phone. Asked to talk to supervisor and the Supervisor was rude and hung up on me three times after he told me that the only way I can get the service reinstated was to repurchase the minutes. This company is a ripoff. I wish I could give a less than one star rating. If someone is pleased with thier service, trust me, it won't last. This is the worse customer service I have ever dealt with in my life time.

Bad service, slow speeds, false advertising. Unlimited data is not unlimited data. They cut you off at 60 gb and worse customer service, first you get an automated line which does not have an option to talk to a live person and you have to repeat yourself over and over. Now the topics that I've ever need it were mentioned. On top of that when I finally got through to a live person after try and options 20 minutes later your call is routed to India where they only speak broken English and do not try to solve your problem but simply read from a script and just keep repeating it. Very annoyed. Do not recommend for anyone. Verizon and Sprint are the best.
