I have been a customer since 2010. I hadn't really experienced a ton of issues until the last 6 months. I purchase the most expensive option for service every month, as I needed the unlimited data. Now my data has been shut down after 1 week. I called customer service and spent almost 4 hours on the phone with them, and the call being disconnected 5 times, just to get literally no help. Was told that I had exceeded the amount of data I could use, all in one week.

I questioned how that would even be possible considering I was in the hospital part of that week, and had been very ill and not using my phone. They refuse to look into the matter, and left me with no data for the remainder of the month. The customer service has always been horrific to deal with. There is no reason to even try to call them about anything, you can't hear them, they speak very poor English, and it's almost guaranteed they will hang up on you. I'm leaving Straight Talk, and definitely do not recommend them.

I ended up purchasing a new phone that was locked to straight talk. I figured this would be an easy problem to solve but Straight Talk made it so complicated. Every time I spoke with customer service, they either didn’t understand or just didn’t care. A lot of the time the “help” they gave me didn’t work. Ex: customer service told me to take it to Walmart to get it unlocked, and when I did, the Walmart employees said that’s impossible for them to do. When I finally got the information and help I needed (after just over two weeks of constant calls to customer service and about 12 calls in total to them) I paid the unlocking fee ($150 btw) and they said wait for an email for instructions to unlock. I waited 5 days and no email - so I checked my phone and sure enough - unlocked and they didn’t tell me. Straight talk customer service is an absolute nightmare and I pray that I never have to deal with them again.

I have been using Straight Talk for many years and they have really good service in my opinion but my reason for giving only 3 stars and not 4 is I think they sell your phone numbers. I've had the same home phone number for many years and when I switched my service to Straight Talk I started receiving unsolicited calls every day all day, sometimes back to back calls starting at 8:00 a.m. And don't even bother to put your number on the do-not-call list. It gets even worse then.

For the last number of months every time I renew service for the $35 phone, text and internet, internet does not activate. I typically have to go through CS to get it activated which takes 2-3 days to find someone who has a clue. This time I have tried and waited 5 days now without a service that I paid for. Continued run around with their CS telling me they've sent the signal and refreshed and what not. I know it's not on my end because I have been through this countless times with them and have never had to change my settings which they always insist I do. All I can say is find a different option for service. My first year and a half with them wasn't bad at all. The last 6-7 months, forget it. With all the aggravation I have gone through they are not worth it.

I have been hung up on and ignored countless times. Any company that thinks it's acceptable to allow customers to pay for a service then not provide that service does not deserve my business. If it happened on occasion and they restored it in a timely manner, I may be more forgiving. But this happens every single time I renew and they never have the service back up in a timely fashion. Like I said 2-3 days at the very least, this time being 5 and it's still not up. Very unreliable, no CS whatsoever and their tech support is unreliable to say the least.

Straight Talk Wireless is a horrible cell phone company. I purchased a iphone from them almost a year ago for my 12 year old grandson. He had their service almost a year but it got to expensive for me to pay for it so I found a cheaper cell phone company for him. I called straight talk to get my grandson's unlock code so the new SIM card from our new cell phone company would work. Straight talk proceeded to tell me that in order for them to give me the unlock code I had to pay $90 dollars for it!! That is insane!! I'm on a fixed income and can't afford to pay for a unlock code that already belonged to my grandson anyway! I paid $130 for the phone from straight talk and was paying $43 a month for their service..and then they say I had to pay $90 dollars for the unlock code!!! Wow really?!?! I would not recommend straight talk wireless to anyone at all! Beware. They are a money hungry cell phone company and their service isn't worth nothing either.

Bought and paid in full for a NO CONTRACT phone and bought a NO CONTRACT card to fill the phone. Told the person where I lived and that I was moving in 3 months and where I was moving to and he said, "Straight Talk pings off of other towers so it should work as well as any other service." It worked in my old home for 3 months,, but I moved 17 miles away and it doesn't work in my new home. I have to drive 14 miles before it connects. My previous tenants had Verizon and it worked. My roommate has US Cellular, it works.

Straight has tried for 3 months to make it work but each tech ends saying they can't make it work. But today, one of their techs connected me to WIFI calling and it worked for 2 phone calls then stopped. When I called back the new tech said, "Wifi was not an option, we cannot provide you service." They can't or will not, provide me service, and will not release my NO CONTRACT phone until I have paid for service for 12 uninterrupted months, even though they know it won't work. I cannot afford to pay for phone service that doesn't work and buy another phone and pay for a second phone service. What does NO CONTRACT mean? They won't let me return the phone because the phone works fine. Just not where I live NOW. They suggested since I can't afford to purchase another phone and pay for 2 phone services, I should get on the free phone program, because they are not going to unlock the phone, they don't care if it works or not.

So they say you have no contract but really you do if you buy one of their Trac Fones. Even when they don't work properly.

On Friday at 5:05 PM I got an email saying the phone had shipped and would arrive on Monday. That's 5 days. I'm not okay with that. Had I had accurate shipping information I would have purchased my phone through someone else. Now I'm trying to contact the company. They have phone numbers I can call if my phone worked but no email or chat options, even though they were quick to chat when I was shopping for a phone. This really bothers me.

This is the first time I've ever had an issue and now I can't get any support. The website says to contact them click below.... There's a spot, way below, that says contact, when you click on it it only has generic links to account balance, order tracking, etc, but no real help. I tried. The chat is a robot. I'm probably going to change service providers after this.

A day after I place my order for a new phone, I received an email telling me the order was cancelled. I called back and after being transferred three times, I explained that from the verification email I received, they had mixed up the information that I had given them. They finally got the information correct and order the phone again. A day later, I received another email telling me that the order had been cancelled. What is going on with them? Is it poor staff training? Is it inadequate policies or procedures? The answer to the questions is to simply find another cellphone service.

After explaining to Straight Talk the Note 9 would be coming from Verizon, and getting it released, we were not pleased when after our new account would not send any attachment in an email or text. We were told it was a Note 9 issue. Funny there was never a problem on Verizon and why wouldn't you tell a possible new customer this info. Now we have a SIM card and month of service that is worthless. When we called back for the problem to be fixed we were just told it was a glitch because it was a Verizon phone. Worst. Service. Ever.

I've had to file 2 BBB complaints in the last three months over their complete lack of customer service. I've had their employees hang up on me, put me on hold and never return, yell at me, refuse to transfer me to someone else. One guy let me listen to his dog bark for 20 minutes while he couldn't figure out how to transfer me to the correct department. They lied to both me and the BBB in my first complaint in November. They do not back up their products, service, or any other programs.

If you have a problem you will be shunted through a series of low level employees who read a script of what they're suppose to say and do not know anything beyond that script. Getting an answer or a solution is next to impossible. If you wish to leave, you cannot take your phone with you as they will not unlock it unless that phone, not your number, the phone has been in service with them for over a year. I've had to buy 4 phones in the last 4 years with them, their phones don't last a year.

For 5 consecutive months Straight Talk has changed my plan mid-cycle and taken away all of my data. Every time I have contacted their tech support which is no help whatsoever! They tell me that there is nothing they can do for me. The options given to me are: 1) pay for extra add on data at $10 per GB (or maybe 2GB), 2) wait until the end of my billing cycle and go without data, or 3) upgrade back to the plan I was strangely kicked off of mid-cycle and pay extra since I'd be giving up my current service and restarting a new service! Twice I have even paid extra to immediately reinstate my (supposed unlimited 60GB) data in order to do my job. Because of this happening so many times I'm going back to postpaid through another provider. Sure it costs more but there's much less nonsense to deal with.

For the record I feel that straight talk has ripped me off. For example, in the end of December I had to pay an extra $60 to get my data back by starting a new cycle early. In the process I lost 10 days of prepaid service. After 10 days of "unlimited" data they kicked me off of my plan into a lower data plan (5th month in a row) thus causing me to lose ALL of my data yet again!! Tech support offered ZERO help as usual. Again, they gave me the three above options. I consider these actions stealing from their customers! Keep in mind that I'm using nowhere near the 60GB per month. As far as I'm concerned they owe me data that was taken from me 5 times and at the end of this cycle I will never give them another cent!

Straight Talk is great for prepaid cellular service... Just make sure you don’t have ANY problems that come up to where you have to call and speak to someone. The CS employees/agents/associates are some of the most condescending, down-right rude people I have ever had to speak with. I work for a company that activates prepaid and postpaid phones with different carriers. I dread having to call Straight Talk every time. The agents get irritated at me when I can’t hear them because of background noise or feedback... on their end.

When guiding me through whatever issue I called about, they speak to me like they think I am stupid. They literally use a tone that’s so condescending, it makes the entire conversation frustrating... Nobody likes to be made to feel stupid, especially when dealing with electronics and technical phone issues with service. The last phone call I had to make was due to the customer I had not being able to access their account. Every time we tried to enter a password, we got an error no matter what account or password we used.

I tried everything I could to help out... reinstalling the StraightTalk app, changing passwords through email links, creating a new account, and even creating an entirely new email account to create a new Straight Talk account! I finally called StraightTalk. The person I spoke to was nice in the first couple minutes, but became increasingly rude when I explained to her that I had already done everything she was instructing me to do. She ended up HANGING UP ON ME while I was trying to change the customers Straight Talk password for the 4th time!

My boss has had the same issues with StraightTalk as well. We have had to speak to manager after manager, and they’re usually worse than the associates! Working in Customer Service myself, it’s absolutely awful to have someone in the same position treat me like I am beneath them, like I’m too stupid for them to deal with. These CS representatives need better training when it comes to how to speak to people on the phone. It’s very frustrating having to call in the first place, but to have a person (whose job it is to help with issues) speak to people like they’re idiots is even MORE infuriating. Do better, Straight Talk.

I've been with ST on & off for about 6 yrs. For a US customer who speaks English, explaining issues to service reps whose primary language isn't English is very frustrating. I often just hang up & call again hoping to connect with someone who comprehends what I'm saying. They recently changed the terms of my plan without any notification or warning of any kind. Cut me from 120GB data down to 25GB high speed data. I had no notice of this & when I went over the 25 GB, they cut off internet service!

My questions to first service rep were answered with standard "canned" responses & filler about assuring me she had the tools to solve issues. She solved nothing & had no understanding of why I was questioning having internet disconnected. Finally got a supervisor who explained everything in agonizingly technical detail, but could not explain why terms of my plan changed without notice or why I had received no warning that data limit was about to expire! He also said the data usage info shown on phone isn't accurate; said I have to text inquiry to one of their help numbers to get that info. (Why put data usage info on the phone if it isnt accurate?) Bottom line, they also determined my sim card might be faulty & to their credit, sent a new one at no charge. Straight Talk's biggest problem is their customer service language barrier & inability to directly pinpoint issue & solve it for the customer.

In 2013 my family was done with ATT so at that time I researched and for only one line and buying the brand new (at that time) iPhone 5 I would pay at the least amount but most likely more than $100 more over 2 years if I went with Verizon than if I 1st bought the phone then prepaid each month. This was not counting Verizon's extra fees (like if I was late paying a bill). I don't like to be wasteful nor over-consumptive so I went from original iPhone 3 (had used for at least 4 years at that time and it still turns on!) to the iPhone 5 which I'm STILL currently using so I can't even comprehend the amount I've actually saved beyond the original 2 years seeing how I'm on 7.75 years now.

I vaguely remember the initial set up was easy. I'm sure if I called Straight Talk I could continue to use this phone but they have been sending out notifications on how the towers/service is being updated and I need to get a new phone (even tho I made sure I got the iPhone 5 with LTE but just never had them turn it on because I live in a rural area) but I do need a new phone because I've run out of memory years ago so I am planning/researching the newest iPhone 12 and various carriers/plans/etc and came across this and decided I needed to chime in since I've used straight talk for so many years.

Living in rural northwestern Pa we only got better than spotty 1 or 2 bars of service In 1 upstairs bedroom about a year or 2 ago so I've really almost never been able to use a cell at my house except on wifi. Don't have to travel far tho to get signal and I would say I average at least several hours daily using cell service instead of wifi. There have only been 3 times I've had a problem with the service, which was the data all of a sudden wouldn't work, everything else still worked good but just wouldn't connect to internet or had no cell data.

The 1st time it happened (probably after about 2 years in) customer service gave me the run around trying to blame my phone so I had to drive 2 hours to Apple store to have them verify nothing was broke/wrong with the phone itself. In the end(after several calls over a few days) what they had to do was have me on the phone while they called Verizon to have Verizon reset my number with the towers, which I can only imagine the Verizon people giving them a terribly difficult time since yes they are terrible to try to understand because of their accents. I think what the problem was is that periodically Verizon updates their towers and my phone was turned off at my house since I didn't get service so it didn't automatically update.

Anyway the next time it happened I knew what the problem was so when I called in I "slowly" explained (making sure I didn't talk too fast so they could also understand me) that this had happened before (I had written down the dates/names/etc the 1st time it happened so idk if that helped) and how it was fixed and they still wanted me to like factory reset my phone but I just said ya I already had done that because I knew that's what I had to the 1st time even tho I hadn't and it only took 1 call this time and 1 the final time it happened so I actually had excellent experience with customer service the 2nd & 3rd times.

I think part of the problem is that when something isn't working with our phones we're already extremely frustrated but to add on this communication barrier really worsens the situation for ourselves because it's not that we just have a difficult time understanding them but they can't understand us either, so when I called the last 2 times I made sure I sounded extra friendly, not frustrated, made sure I was speaking very clearly and kinda slow so they had a much easier time understanding what I was saying. I never have experienced dropped calls or slowed data but I don't rely on it for constant internet access either so a few years back they came out with more plans around the number of Gb of data and pricing so I think I went from paying $45 to $35 now for the same thing.

From researching a little online I think there might be other prepaid companies like straight talk in my area that might be even cheaper but even tho there are several recent bad reviews for straight talk (many seem to be about trying to buy a phone thru their site which I wan't going to do anyway) I think I'm just going to stick with them seeing how over the years I can't even imagine how much money I've saved and I've hardly had any problems only had to contact them 3 times and the last 2 times were quite pleasant and helpful.

They also have a points program so every time you add a service plan you get so many points but you can also write reviews on social media/their site or watch commercials or play games for points which can be used to get a service plan or towards a new phone. I've seen no mention of their rewards program. It's too difficult for me because of this rewards program and also not knowing anyone else in my area who has some other company to inquire about the reliability, to try to calculate how much or if I'd even save by switching to another prepaid carrier.

If in the future I learn that I'd save a lot by switching then I would consider and I would switch if it would save me at least $50/year I figure every penny counts and at least in the area I live in if I can pay less for virtually the same exact thing then it's a win for me! I figure since there's no contract I can leave straight talk ANY time so if something better/cheaper comes my way then I'll choose that or if straight talks service starts to slow or drop calls then I'd switch but I would definitely recommend straight talk and think that if it's a cheaper option in your area then you should try it and see for yourself if your internet is slower or not you can always switch since there's no contract!

We have Straight Talk users since at least 2015. It was before then because that’s when I have on record for signing up for rewards. We really gravitated towards the bring your own phone plan because we all love our iPhones. At first it went well, but recently, as we tried to add our last two family members to the plans, it has been horribly difficult to find SIM card that work. The service is average. Sometimes it’s very good, sometimes it horrible. But we like the unlimited plan and with 6 of us on. It’s more affordable than any other service available in our area. Both of my oldest have bought expensive nice iPhones on the straight talk website and they are happy with their plans so far. They did NOT use the SIM card sent with their new phone. They used their old SIM cards and it works fine for them.

The new cards we have purchased and the new iPhones we haven’t bought from straight talk do not work with straight talk Sims even when the website says they will. We have spent hours in the phone with very strange people. Sometimes we can hear wind and chickens outside in the background, or who knows maybe the chickens are inside? Anyway, if you're looking for affordable average service this is an ok deal for you. Just don’t expect to bring an unlocked iPhone from another company and be prepared to spend lots of hours on the phone every time you want upgrade or add a phone for your daughter's bday. Best of luck to you.

They sold me an unlimited service plan for text, talk and data with no indication of it actually being a LIMITED service plan. Apparently somewhere there is small writing that isn't discussed when you're purchasing your service that limits all of the above "unlimited services".... This is not only misleading but a flat out lie that they sold me! 13 days into my plan my phone was disconnected in the middle of my work day. I spent 3 hrs trying to get the customer service to help me, but they kept transferring me to another company who kept hanging up due to technical difficulty and telling me to call back at a different time. THIS IS THEFT IF YOU ASK ME AND I WILL BE FILING AGAINST THIS COMPANY. DO NOT BE TRICKED BY THEM.

This hanging up is the norm with this company. It can take an hour with having to call back constantly. I am going to change to ** tomorrow as they have an A rating with consumer reports. After chatting with several agents and calling and speaking with at least 4 more agents, I was unable to resolve either issue. It is very difficult to communicate with the agents. Lying company. Not only is their customer service awful and time-consuming to navigate. The company claims to be a no-contract company yet if you buy one of their phones they will not unlock it unless the phone has been active with them for 12 months. I have had this service for 5 years and I was finally fed up with their awful customer service and tried to switch companies. They were happy to port my number but didn't tell me while they were porting my number that they would not unlock my $800 phone that I bought outright. So then my phone was inactive but could not be reactivated by my company of choice because Straight Talk is holding it captive because the phone isn't a year old.

I paid $800 for this phone. It is my phone. They have no right to dictate where I service it! If I had bought a phone outright by AT&T and decided 6 months later I wanted to switch they would respect the phone is mine. I've been with the service for 5 years!!! They hid this policy on a third party website which is linked in tiny print on a small piece of paper in the phone's box. The worse company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I cannot wait for May when they have to unlock my phone and I can stop wasting my money with Straight Talk.

If we had know this little FACT that iPhone would not have been purchased.

I found a better carrier price at 1/2 the price I paid for Straight talk but could not get the new iPhone unlocked (due to the sim card not matching device). It took us over 24 hours to find this out after playing phone tad between Straightalk and Walmart. Walmart electronics associates should be trained and told not to exchange old sim cards and that phones sold by Straightalk will be locked for 12 months from activation (sort of a Contract for a No Contract Carrier). Even though I and my husband had been with Straight talk for over 12 months, we were stuck with a $377.00 phone we could not take with us. As for Walmart I finally got a refund for the iPhone and plan to purchase a phone from our NEW carrier. NO MORE STRAIGHT TALK for us and NO I WILL NOT recommend.

If I could rate them less than one star, I would. I purchased my son a phone and prepaid plan with Straightalk in December of 2019. It is now September of 2020. In these nine months, we've had to get his number changed THREE TIMES because his number kept being given to someone else, even though we were set up on auto refill each month. So when I would try to reach my 13 year old son, I got someone else.

My debit card was being charged to refill someone else's account. After the 3rd time of this happening, I called them and told them I wanted to totally cancel service with them and that I needed the phone unlocked so I could switch carriers. The lady I spoke with told me the phone was unlocked. We went to another carrier and got everything set up. When we put the new SIM card in the phone, it said it was still locked. I called them back and explained the situation only to be told, "You have to keep service for a year before you can unlock the phone." So either the first lady lied or doesn't know what she's doing.

I told them I was never told this. I asked them how am I supposed to keep service with a company who continuously gives my service to someone else?!?! I paid for the phone, I OWN THE PHONE, but now I am unable to use it. I spent over 3 hours on the phone with them and got nowhere. I was placed on hold and no one ever picked up. I kept calling back. I eventually had to just buy my son another phone with our new carrier, even though I have a phone that is paid for and that I own, but I can't use it. I asked for a refund on the phone if I am not able to use it because our account kept being given to someone else and I had no other choice but to cancel service. I was told they would not refund it. It's nothing short of theft. They take your money but you don't get the service you pay for. Then you're stuck with equipment you can't use but you paid for. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. The way they treat their customers is HORRIBLE!!!

I get an email that was sent out by Smartlease that my payment was past due!

The email was sent out September 4 at 11:30pm and the phone was off at 7:00am the next morning. This is the worst cell phone company I've ever had the displeasure of using and they have horrible customer service. First, my phone stopped getting coverage in a well-covered area. Straight Talk's (ST) Customer support agreed that this area has great coverage and there is no reason why the phone wouldn't get good reception. I dealt with it for another couple weeks until I could no longer put up with constantly having calls dropped no matter where I was.

While talking with customer service again, the rep told me that I needed to buy a new phone that is VoLTE capable because they are switching to VoLTE exclusively in the next year. In case you are wondering what that means, it essentially is using voice calls as part of the data so I only assume that by next year they will be counting all voice usage towards data consumption which will inevitably make sure you purchase the higher data plan in order to have a usable phone. I was not keen on that idea at all since we are on a strict budget because of Covid.

Then the very next month, for no reason at all, the auto-refill feature did not go through (it had always worked and there was plenty of available funds to cover the refill, there was not even an attempt at refilling) which rendered my service inactive. This was the last straw that made me consider switching mobile carriers.

When attempting to switch to the new company, I had major difficulty getting the new carrier's phone activated with the same number (since I have had this number for over 15 years). The new company's customer service rep told me that everything was fine on their end and to contact ST's customer service. When I contacted ST, their rep told me that since the phone is not active I cannot transfer the number - I had to buy a plan in order to have the number released. I reluctantly agreed to pay for a new plan but not without first offering my opinion that this is basically an extortion fee.

After telling the rep my thought she replied, "I just checked the status of the phone number and it is not available anymore. You cannot get it back." Strange, the number was available just a few seconds before that. This was a very spiteful act and I feel that there should be repercussions to an action such as that from a customer service representative for a national company. In short, stay far away from Straight Talk, their coverage is horrible, their practices are unethical, and their customer service is not only rude but spiteful. I have filed a formal complaint to their Customer Relations Department and am eagerly awaiting their reply.

T-Mobile has dropped calls/poor range, awful customer service, lose your balance if you transfer out, and then they highjack your unlocked phone! T-Mobile cell towers are lacking in most areas unless you live in a "big" city. Forget metropolitan areas. I live just outside Orlando...17 miles from downtown. My service is fine until about the 15-16 mile going home. Inside my house it's intermittent connection. I have to leave my neighborhood to not have a dropped call - that is - if I can make or receive one.

T-Mobile has awful customer service both inside the store and on the phone. Do NOT make the mistake and call the wrong customer service number. Yes, T-Mobile and T-Mobile Prepaid are two different entities. Only the right one can help you. When you do call it's always a long wait times and multiple transfers (repeating the same issue over again and again) to get a problem resolved.

T-Mobile will keep any balance you have left in your account when you port out. No refunds. What's worse, after you port out they highjack your phone! I straight-up OWN my UNLOCKED phone. I purchased it directly from the manufacturer and I brought the darn thing to T-Mobile. When I finally ported out to Straight Talk my phone kept telling me it was locked and I had to contact T-Mobile. Seriously?! Another customer service call. They made me download their "T-Mobile Device Unlock" App. I am soooo happy to be done with T-Mobile.

Straight Talk uses either Verizon or AT&T towers (your choice based on the some card) and I chose AT&T, which has been perfect! No more dropped calls and their customer service has been good. I buy month to month auto-refill and save a dollar. No more choosing my dollar amount to load. They also have a rewards program. Plus, I asked them... Straight Talk does not lock your phone if you port out! Bonus points Straight Talk for doing things right.

I checked my account after I made the payment and I could see it pending. I checked my account again yesterday and there where now two payments pending. One for 37.86 and the other for 37.83, why are the amounts different? Nonetheless I called customer service, got transferred around until I spoke with Sarah in the Philippines (who couldn't give me a reference number for the refund she processed).

Sarah told me the system processed my payment and still auto drafted another amount again after I stored my card on file. I have been a Straight Talk customer for years. However when it was time to purchase a new phone things went bad. I made my purchase on the 4th of July 2020. The special said I phone SE 349.00 or 14.00 a month for 2 years. It stated that they would not run a credit check but that approval would be based on payment history. I have always used direct payment that comes out automatically so there should be no problem. So I ordered the phone. Immediately 35.00 came out of my account. I guess I was not approved for 24 month financing. I got an email from straight talk that provided my order number and stated I would receive an email when my order shipped. Today 8 July I called straight talk And listened to all the menus...waited 10 min for a person to answer.

This was done after online chat not 611 could answer my question which was Where is my phone! Talking to customer service was a struggle because he was having difficulty understanding me and was was having the same. I was passed to 3 different service reps...Each of who I had to explain my situation and provide the same information. The last one said that my order number did not exist. That number came from the straight talk web site in my account when I log in. When I ask why they had charged me 35.00 he said..."Oh you have to call the Smart Pay company. That’s why we have no record of your order."

At no time during the purchase was I informed that I would be dealing with a third party. All confirmation emails came from straight talk. So I called smart pay...phone menus and music until a person answered. Again not a short phone call. She ask a lot of questions and told me it takes 3 business days to process the order not counting weekends. She explained that today was day 3 and if the confirmation email didn’t come I could call back tommorrow and cancel the order.

I ask her to just cancel the order if it didn’t ship today so I didn’t have to waste 20 min listening to music waiting for help. She put me on hold for 10 min...then came back and said she would cancel it if it didn’t ship and I would be credited 35.00 in 2-4 buisness days. I ask why I didn’t get the 14.00 a month plan and all she could say was I wasn’t approved. My guess is that NO ONE is approved. If you add up 35 x 12 you will see why no one is approved as the price of the phone is 349.00. SHADY IS PUTTING THIS NICELY.

I had a phone on my Verizon plan break and being unable to afford a brand new verizon phone we decided to go with purchasing a Straight Talk device and using it. Unfortunately this is when the real troubles started as everyone from Verizon was saying that we just needed a new sim card that was activated to be inserted in the device. Well after doing that we were told the device had to be activated which we did that as well. Then we get to the same spot we've been stuck at only to find out that straight talk's ToS states that you have to have continual service on a device for a year before they will unlock it for you.

I spoke to someone in their unlocking department then I spoke to their supervisor neither had any intention of helping me. This company has their fine print down. Don't bother going through them even as a prepaid service one of the other companies are by far way better than this one. Worst customer service, worse overall service. Devices are cheap but expected to be worth and I quote "$600" as referenced by the supervisor I spoke to who explained that since we buy the devices for cheap we have to pay for a year to equal out to the $600 device that we technically own, but can't use anywhere but their crappy service.

Three customer service agents hung up on me "Matthew" "Romell" and another man who's name was unintelligible. When I asked to speak to a supervisor "Emily" told me "our supervisors don't take calls". I advised "Emily" that I would be contacting the Missouri Attorney General's Office and filing a complaint with the Honorable Eric Schmitt. "Emily" quickly connected me to "Romano" who repeatedly tried to convince me to purchase more equipment.... Very low quality service and rude. I'd stay away from Straight Talk.

Someone else used my name to get the phone service. I'm used to this company, as they're partnered with Fingerhut. I use QLink. About a month ago qlink quit servicing to me, and I called and asked. They said it's because I'm servicing with another company and only 1 service at a time. I did not switch, a family member/friend/other signed up using my information, and stole the phone. Anyways... Long story, but I tried explaining this to the rep, and they said I was a thief.

I hung up on them. They called 3 to 4 times in a row. I hung up on them.... I'm not the thief... It's someone else in my family, or a soon to be ex friend. Needless to say, they're partnered with fingerhut... They tried the same thing with me... I refused to pay the bill because someone robbed me, and they said it's my problem... I am switching somewhere else. I was petrified. The guy kept calling me a thief, and bagged on me for like 10 minutes. He should get a mark for insulting the customer. I didn't make the account, but later on found out who did.

I purchased a Bring Your Own Device SIM card to pair with a brand new unlocked iPad with the sole purpose of setting it up so my elderly grandmother can Facetime. She is in assisted living and, as I am a nurse, I cannot in good conscience visit her during an epidemic. I easily installed the SIM card and was able to get the data connection set up and working. Facetime would only work on WIFI. No amount of trouble shooting resolved this issue. So I called customer service and spent the next three hours on the phone. I was transferred multiple times. I was told by multiple people that I had to have a phone number for the device for them to access my account. Tablets don't have phone numbers. I was also told more than once that the company doesn't offer service for tablets. Which doesn't make sense since I purchased a SIM that says on the package "Bring Your Own Tablet."

One employee told me I did not have an active account on my SIM which was surprising since I could turn off WIFI and use data to access the internet. At one point, an employee transferred me to the Apple Customer Service line where I spent more time on hold. When I called Straight Talk back, the person I reached had poor phone service (I was on a landline- it wasn't me) and the call dropped. By the time I finally reached someone again and demanded a refund, it was over a half hour long process. The gentleman I spoke with said his phone service was poor because he was working from home. No one I spoke with seemed to understand what an iPad or Facetime even was and even when I requested to speak to someone who could help troubleshoot this specific issue, I got nowhere.

I did finally get my refund after some poor gentleman literally listened to me sob inconsolably on the line while he worked through whatever very lengthy process was required of him to get me a refund. I just wanted to be able to see my 94 year old grandmother without giving her COVID! I was also fine with a refund if it hadn't taken hours to get! I'll be going to our local wireless company tomorrow to get the tablet set up. If it is 10 times the price, it will be worth it. Straightalk is that awful. I can't even remember the last time I bothered to leave a review, but this particular experience was worth sharing.

I’ve been using their service for approximately four years, and had been quite satisfied, until I attempted to purchase a phone from their website. That’s when I discovered how awful of a company they are. I ordered an iPhone through them, using their SmartPay credit program. After a few days, the phone still hadn’t shipped, so I decided to call and was informed that they had a systemwide malfunction and they had to reset everyone’s line of credit and that I could reapply after 7 days. Annoying, but I understand that things happen. I decided at that point to just pay for the phone in total, without using SmartPay, and this was a huge mistake. I ordered the phone, which was in stock according to their site. After five business days, the phone still hadn’t shipped, so I contacted them using their online chat service, and was told that the phone would ship out that day. The next day, still no shipping notification.

I called them, and was informed that my order had been cancelled, due to the phone not being in stock. The whole time this is taking place, there had been a 750 dollar hold on my bank account for the phone. Immediately after being told that the order was cancelled, the transaction finalized in my account and the money was taken out. I called them again, and spent an hour and a half on the phone trying to figure out why they took the money out, only to be told that they have no record of the transaction, so they can’t refund me. I called my bank, and was told that Straight Talk had definitely charged my card and that the transaction was completed, so the only thing I could do at this point is to file a dispute. Straight talk couldn’t be more of a dishonest nightmare. Quite literally the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Avoid at all costs.

They proceeded to tell me that I had been connecting multiple devices to my phone yet I hadn't used my mobile hot spot data at all and mobile hotspot is the only way to connect multiple devices. They kept telling me it is unlimited and referred me to the terms and service agreement section 6 & 7 and saying I reached my data LIMIT. There shouldn't be a limit on an UNLIMITED plan. I took screenshots and recorded our call so I can tell everyone it's not unlimited like they advertise!! And their customer service reps hung up on me twice and the chat with an agent online service was a joke. They kept telling me I had 1 minute to respond or they would disconnect the chat session so I didn't even have time to type a response and then they tried to disconnect me after 30 seconds and I said it hasn't been a minute.

They then said "please be reminded that 60 seconds is equivalent to one minute." Very rude. And they refused to answer my questions about it being unlimited and claimed I violated their terms and conditions when I hadn't violated anything. And they proceeded to say they wanted to call me instead of chat. POINT OF THIS REVIEW this phone service IS NOT unlimited. They choose when you've used too much data!!! An agent helped me step by step verifying the phone I wanted in the color I wanted all the way to the very end of the purchase. A few hours and nearly $700 later I receive an email stating my order had been successfully canceled. I contact the company and they tell me it's because the phone was out of stock when I made the purchase. Well, okay but now what I ask. Their reply was to reorder the phone because now suddenly it was back in stock. Are you confused? I know I was.

So I if I reordered again when would my first order be refunded, I asked. I was told it's policy that it takes 30 DAYS for returns (in this case a cancel) to be refunded! 30 days to be refunded for something I did not cancel and was walked step by step through the online purchase process by one of their agents. And their only other response was that they're sorry for the inconvenience. Out $700 for at least 30 days and nothing to show for it yet they want me to reorder the exact phone because suddenly it's available again. What a joke. They lost a loyal customer who has been with them for many years.

Well I'm the type who goes from phone company to phone company, device to device and so on. This by far was the most disappointing for me, Verizon was quite working in my area and the phone constantly glitches so I tried transferring my Verizon number to a new Straight Talk phone. We messed up by not buying an activation card first since we figured you can buy it online. I first tried their website and failed at getting to the payment part every time. I then called 8 times within 2 days to which only 3 times were answered, one of those answered moments involved loud yelling in the beginning then the phone was placed on a desk near what I assume was the computer, while a muffled video played in the background for almost 20 mins 'til I hung up. The other call transferred me over to only be hung up on and the final they kept transferring me back in forth cause my debit card "wasn't in the system".

I really gave them my card info so many times and they kept saying it wouldn't work, we then drove to 3 different stores looking for the straight talk phone card from all the manuals and what the customer service said to find. I entered the $55 card number only to be told hours later that I still need to get a card to activate it. I got the app and they still say I have no device active, even though it has my old number now. I'm fed up and annoyed, never has activating or transferring number been so hard or take so long. The customer service was rude. I don't recommend this.

Straight Talk Wireless is a cheap way to have cellphone service, but Mint Mobile is even cheaper and does more for people affected by COVID. I was a Straight Talk Wireless customer from 2018 through April 2020. When I went to switch to Mint I had a nightmare experience with customer service, despite trying to be proactive and get started on the process several days early in case of hiccups. Despite having pay-as-you-go service, the phone was locked and when I called to get it unlocked, they only partially unlocked it. So when it comes to calling (the main function of a phone) I basically have a brick for a phone. When I tried to get it resolved (via chat, since I had no calling capability) the representative kept telling me to call a number.

When I asked for a Supervisor they kept me waiting indefinitely. They offered no solutions. I proposed ideas for solutions but they shot them down with a no every time. I even offered to switch back as a customer in order to get the phone working again! Literally, the customer service representative didn't take me up on the offer to return as a customer to get my phone working (maybe they were so used to telling people "no" that they didn't realize they were losing the customer base that keeps them employed?). It was then that I realized this was 1 star service. I worked 8+ years in a customer service center in the telecommunications industry and so I'm very happy to give leeway and be patient with people who may be new or in training. This wasn't the case here. This was horrible customer service and I will never be returning. Buyer beware.

You need a SIM specific to whatever carrier you have, and they're automated system never works. So you have to call, wait to talk (or chat rather), they work their magic to convert it to a straight talk phone, and the entire process just seems sloppy. Often there are data issues and you must constantly configure your data, especially with their new "25 GB unlimited data" plan, which I believe should be investigated. Not one time did I feel that my data was high speed. I believe those are false claims, and they really only give you medium speed, a lot of times low speed data. All and all they're better than Verizon, because Verizon has practiced some incredibly shady business practices at my local Verizon in Crossville TN.

So I finally got ahold of the Straight Talk refund department. They said they’re not going to refund my 300 dollars for the iPhone 7s plus I purchased until I find the confirmation number for the original purchase in my email (They said it was in my email.) ????‍♂️ or the tracking number for FedEx because I sent it two day delivery and they had to sign for it. I don’t understand if they make every single customer provide this information before they refund their money for the purchase that they made? If they do, it seems as though it would be time consuming. Lol.

They told me they have no record that I ever purchased or returned an iPhone. I know I did though because they had to sign for it. I never thought that they were going to demand those numbers to refund the money for my purchase upon return of the item. They now have both the 300 dollars and my iPhone and there’s nothing I can do about it.

All the power I have left is to tell my story and hope that no one else buys a Straight Talk phone from their online store. Oh yeah, I also have a bank statement online, showing where I made the purchase and the date of purchase. I would go so far as to say that Tracfone aka Straight Talk should be boycotted and that no one should ever make a purchase from them in the foreseeable future. The reason for this radical declaration is very simple.

When I was googling the customer service number for Straight Talk. I came upon an article, stating that Straight Talk is currently in a lawsuit or lost a lawsuit where they have been ordered to refund 40 million dollars for fraudulent charges, in regards to their 45 dollar monthly phone plan. (I have been a loyal customer with this 45 dollar a month plan and had no idea they were skimping people on their minutes. I would have liked to have been a part of that lawsuit, especially since they just stole 300 dollars from me and I’m on a fixed income. (SSI Disability)

I have no way of buying a new iPhone now or transferring my service to another iPhone and I have a locked iPhone 5s that they keep telling me; it’s going to stop working any day now and yet with all their scary stressful emails, they have no problems pressuring me to buy a new iPhone! However, when I attempted to buy a new iPhone, they sent me a “pink iPhone” (wrong color obviously) and when I called they told me to send it back within 30 days for a refund. I cannot purchase another phone until they refund the money for the purchase I already made! They say they have no record that I ever purchased an iPhone 7s plus in January when I was transferred to the refund department and yet their other departments have said they can see where I made the 300 dollar purchase.

My hope in writing this email is that anyone that reads this email will share this post and/or tell my story to as many people as you know, so that you and everyone else can avoid the horrific stressful situation that they have put me through. (No matter how much cheaper Straight Talk aka Tracfone might be, it’s just not worth the hassle and aggravation they put you through.) I went through the whole verification process and gave my full address/name/full credit card number and even then when I thought they would refund my money for this iPhone, they said I needed to find the confirmation number from my email. Well, my email deletes everything after 30 days. I tried to explain this to them and they just kept repeating that they had to have the confirmation number from my email over and over. Then they started to hang up on me and I cussed them out and hung up first.

This is not how a professional business treats their loyal customers. They’re suppose to automatically refund your money and if you don’t have the confirmation number they’re suppose to verify you are who you say you are and then refund your money. They’re not suppose to do this. When I told them I didn’t have the confirmation number they changed their tune and said they had no record that I purchased the iPhone to begin with but, I still have a bank statement that proves that I made a purchase of 300 dollars from their website on a date in January. That’s proof enough or should be proof enough that I bought an iPhone 7s plus from them! I feel a horrible pain in my stomach and I haven’t been able to eat all day. Laters and remember: “Just say NO to Straight Talk aka Tracfone.” They ruin lives.??? I will now check myself into a psychiatric hospital and slowly start shredding newspapers after they dope me up to the gills! Haha???

My spouse and I switched to Straight Talk about five years ago to save money on our mobile phone bills. We can honestly say that the money savings was the only positive thing about ST. Given the many other providers that now offer similar or less expensive plans, we are finally rid of ST and are breathing a huge sigh of relief. Here are a few of the issues we encountered:

    1. When we signed up, one of us was assigned to run on the Verizon network, and the other on the TracFone Wireless network. There were almost no problems with the service on the Verizon network. The TFW network often had little to no coverage, even in large metro areas where everyone else had coverage. Also, visual voicemail (the ability to click on a message to listen, rather than having to dial in and enter a password) worked for ONE MONTH on the TFW network - out of almost five years of having the account with ST. Multiple calls to techs only resulted in frustration. Chat techs took forever to respond to the simplest questions, and often ended the chat by saying, "Call the support number as we cannot assist you through chat." The techs on the support number were no better. Many of them were absolutely not understandable due to thick accents and very poor English language skills. All of them blamed the specific phone, or TFW, for the lack of visual voicemail. None offered solutions. The visual voicemail on this phone works just fine now that we have switched carriers.

    2. Over time, we built up over 13,000 rewards points for having our accounts on auto-pay and auto-renewal. Other than one $10 mobile hotspot card - which NEVER WORKED - we could not redeem our points for anything, including the three months' worth of free service that we should have been able to redeem. The rewards system was always experiencing "technical issues" that even the chat techs and phone techs could not explain. "Please check back later." Well, it is now almost five years later, and we have gladly forfeited those points to go with a carrier that doesn't offer scam rewards that are worth nothing.

    3. Logging in to our online accounts was always a huge hassle. Often in the middle of checking something, or updating our address, for instance, the system would take us to an unrelated page, and then require us to log back in and start over. And any time we tried to use the Rewards points, it would go through that redirect routine repeatedly until we could finally get through to the checkout page to let us finish the order. Of course, all of those attempted redemptions never went anywhere anyway, as noted above.

    4. At the time of service transfer, one of our accounts ported immediately. The other port request was repeatedly rejected due to an alleged "wrong account number." Our new company went above and beyond to submit the request using the IMEI instead of ST's account number. ST still dragged their feet in responding to that request, taking days instead of the typical few hours needed. In the meantime, they sent a survey asking why we switched, and how they could improve. Having told them all of these problems before, I still filled out the survey in hopes that maybe this time, someone would actually pay attention to the serious problems with this company.

Do yourself a favor - do some research and find one of the several other companies that offer equal or better rates, and far better customer services.

It is still an hour behind even shutting down the system and the specific app. Nothing works. My neighbor has the same phone same plan. His phone is also still an hour behind. Come on. The plan itself wasn't too bad. The customer service, however was terrible. We had issues switching our phone number to a new plan, and we attempted to get it sorted out promptly. Unfortunately, they charged our account right before we switched plans, and then they closed our account and refused to get a refund, even though they charged us for the upcoming billing cycle prematurely. Whenever we called, they would always say whatever to get us off the phone and always had conflicting answers, and even completely lied at times over the phone. If I could give less than one star I would. Please save yourself the headache... Never use this company for your phone service, it is not worth it at all.

Straight Talk had a promotion back in Dec to "Add A Line" and get 10,000 points. For this you had to buy a phone and keep the service for at least 2 months. I didn't need it, but I thought it would be a good idea in case one of the 2 phones my wife and I have gets damaged, which has happened in the passed. I fell for it and ordered a new and activated it for the required two months. Instead of getting 10,000 points they gave me 7,000. I thought, ok maybe it was because I bought one of their cheaper smart phones, but I could deal with the 7000 points. The odd thing is that they kept the 7,000 points in pending for the first 2 months and I figured after the 2nd month was up that it would activate the 7000 points. This is a track phone so you pay as you go and since I met the requirement of 2 months active, I did not pay for the 3rd month.

Well guess what happened, They took the 7000 pending points away. I tried calling in today and was hung up on 3 different times. Then when I called back the last time, I was transferred to Ralph, an HR manager at Home Office supposedly and only after a few short sentences with him, he hung up on me. I was upset and told them so, but I didn't yell, wasn't disrespectful and didn't use foul language. WHAT IS WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THIS COMPANY? I have been with Straight Talk for probably 8 years and talked highly of them this whole time, but this has definitely changed my mind. DO NOT USE STRAIGHT TALK, THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!

After calling to release the phone number to the new provider they locked the phone and claim it's a brand new phone in their system and refuse to release the phone unless I pay them $360 or renew the plan for 12 consecutive months. I paid $100 for the phone and they're holding it ransom for almost quadruple what I even paid for it so now I have to purchase a brand new phone to begin the new service I've already paid for. These guys are a joke and absolutely refuse to help anyone and just want to extort money from customers.

First off to even get through to an actual person you have to go through an automated system that is so beyond flawed! After saying customer service it asks you if the automated system can help repeating the same menu 3 times. Half of those times it doesn't understand you and drops the call making you call back and start the whole process over. We have been trying to activate a phone for 2 days now and have spent over 3 hours on the phone either speaking with someone you can barely, or not even, understand as their English is beyond terrible or getting calls dropped and call backs that never come. I have never encountered such a tech support system that is so infuriating and frustrating in my life. Their phone plan prices and coverage are decent but ow, if you ever have to call the Straight Talk Wireless support line beware, it is enough to make you want to jump into a volcano rather than suffer the stress of their support.

At this time I have still not got through with a successful call to activate my phone. The last manager I spoke with seemed to know what she was doing but here I am 4 hours later without a phone number or working service and have tried calling, unsuccessfully, 8 times now. Each time being transferred only to have the call end because their automated system said it could not understand the response! Which the response was pushing the number 3 on my keypad! So not real sure how it could not understand that but I am done. After 2 years with straight talk I am going back to Verizon, I would rather pay twice as much for quality than sacrifice my sanity dealing with such an awful system that has used far too much of my time. Straight Talk wireless... I sure hope you improve your system if you value your customers at all!

The only thing worse than Straight Talk's Customer Care is the bricked, garbage equipment they sell you (ie, Samsung's J7 Crown, among the many). I'm quite experienced with cell phones & am very tolerant of incompetent/poorly designed Customer Service as that has just become the way of things anymore with all the out-sourcing and ridiculous phone trees/bots. As a Business Mgmt Consultant myself, I see many absurdities. Nothing and no-one surpasses the mind blowing hot mess this shady (by design) Company is. I strongly encourage you to avoid these annoying Clowns by all means necessary.

Straight Talk is so hyper focused on avoiding providing proper Customer Service while they mine all your data that they've created a web of hoops & tangles to sift through... that still yield zero resolve to anything you attempt to accomplish with them - even if you're simply trying to throw more money at them. It's your data, bank accounts, Contacts, Privacy, etc. that they're most interested in. Locking you in, then reusing to let go. Worse still, is their bricked "phones." Yes, Samsung & Google are the Executioners, Straight Talk their Hangmen. Their "Phones" (aka... LoJack/Spyware) is nothing short of being similar to paying good money to buy yourself a car and then finding out that, not only are you the passenger strapped to the back seat, but you can't even tell it where you want to go.

Straight Talk can go right back to the place they came from... (begins with H.) You're far better off with corrupt Politically posturing Globe @ ATT, whose Prepaid service is at least far more usable - and where you can actually go in and speak with a Human Being. Run Straight away from Crooked Talk. Run anywhere else but to them. Utterly Disgusted with Straight Talk, Mrs. **, CEO. Minnesota.

So technically you are not buying the ultimate unlimited plan as advertised on the cards. So be aware if you are thinking you're getting a deal by buying the $90 plan with hotspot.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I ordered a phone to be delivered to my home. The company requires a signature in person. I left them a note but that wasn't good enough and I knew I wouldn't be home to sign for it when they attempted to redeliver. So I called Fedex to reroute the package to a different address. Fedex informed me that Straight Talk does not allow reroute and does not allow to hold the phone at a fedex office.

So I call straight talk. The call center is in the Philippines. I talked to 8 different people. 8!!! 8 people off and on over the course of 4 hours. Each person told me something totally different. The supervisor told me to cancel my order then transferred me (again). Once transferred I was told canceling is never an option and I am not allowed to cancel. Long story short= I have to wait for 3 delivery attempts before the package is sent back, then they refund my debit card. Of course no one can tell me how long that will take. Absolute Nightmare!!!!

After being a customer of Straight Talk for three years, I was told by their Customer Service Rep that, if I upgraded my phone and stayed with the provider, I would receive 7,000 Rewards Points. To their credit, I was initially credited the points. That was November 25, 2019. Then, when I went to redeem the points for service in early January 2020, I was told they would not be available until January 25 - that I had to wait 60 days.

Today I checked my Rewards Balance and saw that I still had the 7,000 points, but only 710 were available. I contacted them via chat and was told that there was an issue with my account - that someone would call me in 15 minutes to verify and discuss my account. I waited the 15 minutes. No call. I waited another two hours. Still no call. Finally, I called them - only to be put on hold and hung up on twice.

When I persisted, I finally got a hold of an account rep "Jay" who seemingly took his time to investigate my account. Jay eventually informed me that there had been a "glitch" in their system, and the points were not actually available. I have screen captures and transcripts of the chat conversations. Well, as of February 24, 2020 I will be looking for a new cellular provider. Nice to be appreciated by Straight Talk! I’ve been a Straight Talk customer a couple of times and have multiple family members that use their service currently. In my family, I’m the tech-guy that fixes all technological problems and sets phones/computers up and sits on helplines all day with straighttalk speaking to foreigners for hours trying to activate a phone.

Typically the activation process is fairly simple and smooth, but my younger brother got an iPhone 8 for Christmas and I’m the lucky fella who got to set it up. Upon attempting to activate the phone, I was informed by Straight Talk’s help desk representative that the phone couldn’t be activated (with the SIM card that CAME WITH THE PHONE). After arguing and speaking to a couple of other representatives, one informed me that the best thing to do would be to order another straight talk SIM card and instructed me which one to get. I wasn’t happy but they’re fairly cheap and I wanted to get off the phone. So I ordered it and waited a week and a half.

Once the SIM card came in, I went through the activation and transfer process again. A representative name Rafael who spoke very quietly and asked me to repeat things multiple times gave me the run-around for about 45 minutes and wouldn’t listen to a word I told him. Finally he informed me that my new SIM card “wasn’t compatible” with straight talk. I explained slowly and carefully the situation with the last representative to which he got an attitude. He continued repeating “sir it’s not compatible.” I got an attitude back and demanded he put me on the line with his direct supervisor or manager. He made some snide remark and said he’d transfer me to them, only to put me on an endless hold out of spite, he didn’t transfer me to anyone.

To sum up, in the past myself and family have had a mediocre experience with Straight Talk over the years, but if you’re thinking of using them, heed my words. Straight Talk is less expensive than most other service providers, but you’re paying for what you get. Less expensive means cheap. If you ever have an issue, you have to speak to representatives from the Philippines and they usually have little to no idea what they’re doing, or basic English for that matter, outside the realm of what they’re told to say. If you have a more “complex” issue outside of their basic itinerary, they will give you a very blunt, usually incorrect, “solution” and take it no further to assist and please you. While they piggyback off of larger carriers’ networks, they do not provide the same service and statistics that I get from Verizon. Moral to the story, spend less—get cheaper service.

I've used Straight Talk for about 5-6 years now and had no serious problems. Yesterday, I see my Manager called me for work and had missed their call. I check my voicemail and get a robot prompting me to use my "AT&T Service Account Number" instead of the usual password robot. I've only ever used Verizon and Straight Talk. So I can't access my voicemails after trying my phone number and regular PIN - the one I've used for 12 years (switched over from Verizon).

I called the service phone number and talked to "Jan" or "Jen". I explained the situation and he told me my pin is wrong and needs to be reset. I explained my situation again, but this time explained the sudden change is my primary concern - access to voicemail has now become secondary. I want to know why, after a decade of use, I was suddenly locked out of my voicemail and associated with AT&T. He explained that Straight Talk uses other towers, there must've been a carrier outage, and some other stuff that didn't seem relevant, but what do I know?

I told him I didn't understand what that has to do with access to voicemail and impressed my concern it could happen again, but he just wanted to reset my pin. I told him I didn't want to reset anything, I want to understand what exactly happened, why was there no warning, why after some 5 years, etc. He put me on hold and said he fixed the issue and all I had to do was hit *73, turn off/on my phone, and my old pin would work so I can access my voicemails. Ok.

So I comply and find myself being prompted to reset my entire voicemail, not the pin - losing my messages, the whole shebang. Good news is I'm not locked out anymore, just with no voicemails, saved or new, no explanation, no idea what caused this or if it will happen again. I called back, calmly asking for a supervisor for a complaint about Jan or Jen. Talked to Susan, Zana, and Kimchi who transferred me to a supervisor only to have the phone either picked up and left on a call center desk where I could hear everyone talking or they hung up on me. Three times this happened.

The fourth time I talked to Janel who claimed to be a manager. She followed Jan/Jen's playbook and just wanted to talk about resetting my pin. I explained I wanted to file a complaint about the rep who I felt tricked me into resetting my junk - losing all my voicemails. She said she'd correct the problem, but I never gave the name. I asked how she'd fix the problem if she didn't know who it was. She said she'd see who reset my pin in the record to which I countered - he had ME do it. It's like she wasn't listening to a thing I said! I lost my patience at that point, grilled her about the fact I think she's no manager and just happened to be working there five years longer than everyone else, why isn't a "manager" concerned about how her reps are handling problems, etc. Not sure why, it's not like she was listening, I was just upset at that point and hung up.

In conclusion, it's very possible I already lost my voicemails when whatever happened had occurred. A little quirk of getting cheap service, I guess. Being tricked into doing an action when I explicitly stated I wanted no action until I understood what happened and had access to my unheard messages, there's just no excuse for that, but worse, no recourse whatsoever. It's typical call center methodology. Distract and refocus the customer on a very generalized menu - like the robot menus that don't even offer customer service reps as an option. I'm just going to shell out the extra 40 bucks for a carrier. At least they have their own towers so I don't have to worry about suddenly and inexplicably losing my voicemails. Straight Talk is great... until you have a problem. My advice is don't have problems if you're going to use Straight Talk.

If you called about data and you had some left, they would set it to zero. Their goal seemed to be to make sure you did not have too much data. They started cheating on service end dates. I'm not sure why, but everything defaulted to Minnesota on searches and GPS. If you did a Data add on, it seemed to upset them. And the worst was when they would just accelerate the data usage and eat up all the data - then they said I had to use a local number and could not keep my old one!

This caused me the loss of contacts and all sorts of problems. After a while it seemed like the company was simply against me. Complaints did no good. I could go on and on and on. Go back and buy another one at forty dollars off? SMH.

This is an extremely frustrating company to deal with. My phone's internet stopped, and texts weren't working. I dealt with them for 5 days, and they would all have me try the Exact Same Things. Finally I got a guy who told me my phone wasn't working. Well, DUH! He said they would send me a new phone. He said they would send me a box, and to send my old phone in, and when they got it, they'd send me a new one. Two lies right there! I waited for the box, and by accident, I found they'd sent me a shipping label by email. I found my own box, and sent it in. They sent me a Refurbished phone with a 90 warranty. Also, they ask if you'll do a survey after each call, but if the call doesn't go well, they don't call/text you back with it. If you have Enormous patience, go ahead and use Straight Talk. You've been warned.

I have had Straight Talk for about five years now and have mostly been satisfied. I can use my phone in most areas, most of the time. I recently travelled to Alaska to visit family. When I arrived, I attempted to call my husband to let him know I got there safely. Right away, I knew there was a problem. I was unable to make ANY calls or receive any calls while I was in Alaska. I discovered I could, however, send and receive text messages. I was away for 10 days and not having use of my phone was a problem to say the least. I did some research online to see what the problem might be and read several reviews describing the same problem I had in Alaska. I was lucky to be travelling with my daughter, who had a phone that worked in Alaska, but if you are planning on travelling with your Straight Talk phone, you may want to check coverage before you go!

Contact customer support chat. I am asked if someone can help me. Soon as I type a message and send it I am put on a queue to wait 30 minutes. I got no help from them with the matter on my phone. I had trouble with the phone I had, I sent it back yesterday to the returns dept. and without an RMA number. Let me know ahead of time instead of waiting for my message then say oh I have to wait 30 minutes. No help. They used to be helpful when I first signed up in 2011. Apparently not anymore do they seem to care much if at all!!! I am terribly 100% disappointed they could not even return a message about an RMA number when I reached out to them since I don't have a phone right now. I hate cellphone service!!!!

I allowed my son to do a one time charge to my bank card. Straighttalk started billing me every month. I did not authorize this to draft every month and when I tried to call the number on my bank statement it wouldn't go through so after a couple of months of trying the number I went to my bank and they told me the only way to stop this was to cancel the card and get a new card number. I did with a lot of work and grief updating for the companies I did allow automatic drafts. After all that Staighttalk still is taking money from me even though I stopped that card. I finally get a number to work for straighttalk and they tell me that I can't be reimbursed for auto pay even with knowing I did not authorize the continuing transaction. I ask them to check usage on the phone and they just changed the subject back to they have stopped it now. Not good enough!!!

I asked for them to provide proof that I had authorized more than a one time charge and they don't acknowledge the question. They just say this is the first notice they have received, as I explained a good number on my bank statement would have helped an earlier response. Then I said just send me to the survey Only to have straighttalk tell me it will be sent in a text to the number they are billing me for that I don't have...AHHHH a nightmare that I will share.

In short I didn't authorize an auto draft. They had a non functioning number to respond to. I cancelled the card the were billing and they managed to bill my new card. They say they can't refund auto draft. But they have stopped it now. And when I asked to do the survey...They said it was in text form sent to the non functioning number that they are billing me for. They didn't acknowledge the fact there had been no usage on that number in months. Total scam.

BEWARE!!! If you enroll in AutoPay and go online to cancel it, Straight Talk NEVER actually unenrolls anyone that way. It's a total scam-- next month bam they charge your account again and then claim you never unenrolled. You have to go through customer service AND MAKE SURE YOU GET THEM TO SEND YOU A CONFIRMATION EMAIL or guess what? THEY SCREW YOU AGAIN!! Absolute underhanded thievery. Straight Talk will scam you any way they can think of. Truly awful company.

This company does NOT value your business!!! Been with them for 10 years and gone thru 7 phones. I’m having financial difficulties and needed to cancel service temporarily. This phone I have now is new and they will not unlock it nor do they care. They will put you on hold for a supervisor and never return. Guess AT&T wasn’t so bad after all. I hope Straight Talk goes down and I’m going to let Walmart electronic department to warn their customers away from this company. City of 50,000 people and only one Walmart. Plenty of other companies to choose from now.

My 63 year old aunt got the $30.00 Straight Talk phone card. She lives alone and needs a phone because she is in bad health. I was very sad for her because she needed the $35.00 card. She didn't know, and now she lost $30.00. Plus tax and fees. That's so much money for someone on a fixed income. Sorry way to make money, Stealing from helpless people.

This carrier is a waste of your money because they don't give any deals on phones + if you cancel the service, they won't give the prorated refunds. The coverage is not that great. I would recommend T-mobile instead as they have cheaper plans and great deals on phones too!. Once the service is de-activated in Straight Talk, they won't activate again.

We pay for the unlimited plans. That said, "unlimited" must be a reference to how much frustration they cause. There are endless system errors, dropped calls, unavailable data and an inability of the "customer service" staff to ACTUALLY HELP. I have had to call them about every 4 days for two weeks. And, something has changed in the last 4 or 5 months, because service is horrible. When I texted their 611611 the responses I got back weren't in English. Good grief. Really? Beware!

As far as phone service I've never had a problem. So I referred my wife and my grandmother and activated and followed all protocols they have to receive the refer-a-friend. Got a email confirming that I was going to receive 5,000 points. Never received it, called customer service and all they could say is, "I'm sorry sir we cannot find it on our system," and continue repeating "I'm sorry sir we cannot find it in our system" when I clearly have a confirmation email saying I referred. And they will do nothing for you as far as getting your free service. I'm very angry about it because it came at a time when I needed a free service and I couldn't afford to pay to refill for that month. They did nothing for me. They wouldn't accept the confirmation email I had or even work with me with anything after being a loyal customer for at least 3 years.

What makes it worse... DO NOT BUY A PHONE FROM THEM! After years and years of multiple cells, the one I purchased from Straight Talk is the only one that has been persistently faulty from the start. Just terrible from start to finish. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Have used Straight Talk over 2 years. Just a few months ago, started having poor phone reception. Then a couple months ago, the web site started having errors. Last month, web site errored while refilling my service. It was able to charge my credit card, but not provide the PIN to add the service. Lengthy conversation with customer service (who had a lot of trouble understanding what I was saying and just kept repeating wrong information) - stopped counting after an hour. Unable to get resolved-had to call back the following day for another marathon conversation. Today tried to renew service on line--error-web site suggested a call to customer service. Rep tried to redeem reward points but account showed the wrong plan was added. He had trouble understanding the problem. Transferred to Tech support-they couldn't understand the problem. Kept saying the phone had a plan on it, so they couldn't add the right plan.

Couldn't understand that the rep had put the wrong plan on the phone and it just needed corrected. Sent to 2 "supervisors" who had little knowledge of Straight Talk or what their web site says or what programs they offer. I was told that even though the error was made by Straight Talk, it could not be fixed. She complained about the quality of the phone call--I explained that I was on Straight Talk service. Then was told I would be transferred to the "Supervisor Dept". I asked the name of the department and she said "Supervisor Dept". There I was told the plan was just added even though their website said otherwise; I was told that they don't have a complaint department. I was told an email would be sent with the PIN (not received).

Recently I have had an Unexplained surge in data usage over past 2 moths. Are use my phone no differently than I have since I’ve had service with Straight Talk. And suddenly I have gone from an average of 6 to 12 gigs of data per month to within two weeks I suppose leaves over 25 gigs of data. Last month I had to Purchase a plan early because of my data running out. Since it was not more than a week I gave them the benefit of the doubt. After purchasing my new plan less than two weeks ago, I supposedly ran out of 25 gigs of data yesterday. I do not understand. This is not explainable and if anything my data usage should have been down because I use my phone for work and I have not worked as much recently as I have over the past few months. I need explanations and answers and quit getting ripped off!

I was supposed to get my phone delivered today, but unfortunately due to someone's mistake at Straight Talk they printed out the shipping label with the wrong address, they forgot to add the suite number. I called to have it corrected and they told me they couldn't do anything. How you mess up on your part, don't take responsibility, and just tell the customer "oh well, we can't call FedEx because we messed up" like seriously?! All they had to do was call up FedEx and give the give them suite number. I even provided the number they needed to call and they still wouldn't do it! Their customer service is TRASH! They were not helpful at all. Their cell service also sucks! Every time I'm on the phone with my husband, the call drops.
