Very happy with the savings for my wireless phone service, but very disappointed they don't offer roaming service. While traveling out of town could not use our iPhones to find services. Also could not use phone to find directions. Since these options are readily available by most other wireless providers we automatically assumed they would be provided by Puretalk. Very disappointed when we learned they did not provide roaming.

We are currently into our second month using PureTalk. After this month, we are sadly canceling our service. When considering PureTalk, we were told that the company uses AT&T towers to receive cell phone service. Since the beginning, we have experienced multiple dropped phone calls (never experiencing even one phone call that wasn't), texts being unsent and even some not received and our phones are constantly grappling/pausing for service out on the road. We are constantly frustrated and will be canceling at the end of this month.

Overall our experience with Pure Talk has not been a good one. It has nothing to do with customer service. It's the actual service that we get using the AT&T network in this part of northern Colorado. We have taken a step back in terms of clarity of phone calls, receiving and sending a text messages etc. I'm sure it's just that AT&T doesn't have good coverage in this area. Honestly we're looking to move to a new carrier that might have better coverage in northern Colorado. We love the idea Pure Talk and what it offers and the affordability but the AT&T network leaves something to be desired.

Even passing large cell towers still had no service. Remote areas I expected no service but this was ridiculous. Been through those areas before and never had that much outage with Verizon or AT&T. Was excited to try because of the price savings but the coverage is suspect. Will have to wait and see.

I am not a complainer by nature. But, I have never received such poor customer service. In late June my husband and I decided to switch to PureTalk based on an advertisement in AMAC. We confirmed that our phones were compatible and ordered two SIM chips that were shipped out on 6/23. Upon receiving them, we noted that this was not a quick process and were advised not to cancel our current plan until successful porting to PureTalk. Because of health concerns, we could not risk being without cell service.

Upon trying to activate my husband's line on 6/29, we were on hold for 3 hours and transferred to 4 different customer service representatives, none of which could help us. Meanwhile my husband's number was ported out of Metro PCS but could not activate his phone because the 4th representative told us his phone was not compatible. We were then transferred to another representative who left me in tears. I am visually impaired and had carefully transferred the SIM number to a medium I could access, but she demanded that I remove the Chip and read the lines separately to her.

I explained I was visually impaired and could not read directly from the chip. She refused to help because I refused to follow her instructions. I then requested that we stop activation so that we restore phone service with our original company. I do not recall the words but they were unpleasant and told me that we absolutely could not go back because we had asked to transfer our service to PureTalk. After this unpleasant call, I have made 4 requests in writing to cancel all PureTalk account. We had to obtain a new number for my husband. Unfortunately, we are still being charged for PureTalk cell service that we do not have.

I decided to switch to Puretalk to save some money so I checked my IMEI number to see if my phone was compatible with the service and the puretalk website said it was. I ordered a sim kit and it came quick. Once I got the sim I started the setup. It was Monday. I emailed on Tuesday morning asking when my phone would be on. I get an email Wednesday that the pin was wrong so I called and fixed it. I was told my service would be active "within minutes." Called back 5 hours later and was told that my phone was NOT COMPATIBLE! I was on the phone for 4 hours being transferred around from one person to the next because I needed my phone number sent back to the old carrier. The old carrier sent the request and puretalk was refusing to accept the transfer back. I missed hours of work from not having my phone (needed to work) and from being on hold for hours. There are three “no service” areas on several of the roads I most frequently drive, and dropped calls are inevitable. Don’t believe I’ve actually EVER gotten 4G since I gave up Verizon for your service.

Spent 2 full days on the phone with them and was finally told my phone was not compatible with their system due to the fact the phone was a 2G phone, I just got this phone 6 months before from VERIZON. I asked for a refund and was told it would go back on the card that I used when I purchased the plan, Still no refund and no phone service since Aug 12, 2020. I called customer service 3 times today, the 1st got hung up, the 2nd was on hold for 45 min., the third was told the supervisor would be with me in 5 to 10 min, after 25 mins hung up. Filed complaint with the FCC and contacted my lawyer. These people have no customer service skills and will put you on hold forever. Still no phone or refund. BIG RIPOFF COMPANY, BEWARE.

The $20 unlimited talk and text with 2GB data was actually less than my very ancient flip phone plan with very few weekday minutes and no data. We still have problems getting connected when away from home. Texts came in unreadable: Said Download Here, but didn't when I pressed button. MMS not receivable, nor sendable by text. When we made transitions in the past, a live person helped get it done and dealt with problems. Supposedly settings were all taken care of, but I learned on my own that they weren't. I guess these problems have to do with the difference in amount paid for the service. We're sticking with Pure Talk because it's affordable, although extremely frustrating.

We switched to PureTalk to get away from Verizon and save some money on the phone bill. One of the main reasons for going with PureTalk was that we were able to keep our old phones because we don't have the money to buy new phones. While in the process of talking to the rep and getting everything set up I had told the rep that we had to have wifi calling in order to make calls from our house because we have no service otherwise, no matter what carrier you have. We get our new cards and go to activate our phones and we have no working data and no wifi calling.

We call tech support and she walks us through putting in the codes to get everything working right, she then informs us that there is no guarantee for wifi calling with android phones because they have a contract with Apple and that I should have been told about the wifi calling when I was ordering the cards and getting my account set up, but I was not informed. She that there was a cheap iPhone around $150 that we could get, but to wait a couple days and see if the wifi calling would kick in. Waited and still no wifi calling.

So I call to see about getting the cheap iPhones and then I'm informed that it's only that price if you're not already a PureTalk customer, the actual price of the phones are $400. So needless to say I'm not too happy with the initial service, and really not happy with not being told everything beforehand. Service is ok in town, but I'm rarely in town. Still no wifi calling, which means our phones are useless at our house, and still no money for new phones.

If I pay you for time to call other countries what possible reason is there for that payment to just expire if I don't use it right away or don't use all of it? This is my biggest pet peeve with your company. I have friends in Canada and the Dominican Republic. This is my personal experience and opinion: A failed trial SIM card, utterly uncaring, inflexible big corporation-type customer service, made our experience with PureTalkUSA an exercise in time-wasting frustration. We called for and received the PureTalkUSA trial SIM card but when we tried it, it did not work. The problem, said PureTalkUSA, was Verizon's. Thus began extended discussions with Verizon who said, not surprisingly, the problem was with PureTalkUSA.

On the advice of PureTalkUSA's customer service, we tried their SIM card again. It did not work. We emailed PureTalkUSA'S customer service department but the response was completely unhelpful: buy a plan. We explained that we were in a semi-rural area and wanted to make sure we had coverage from their service but all we got over and over was "buy a plan." When we tried again to explain this, we were blocked by PureTalkUSAs customer service. The veteran-owned company has spoken! We have no time for your puny problems! Sadly, this company, that pitches itself as something different from the big corporate behemoths, behaved in exactly the same way as the big, corporate behemoths. Hopefully, your experience won't be as frustrating, unhelpful and time consuming as ours but then again, maybe it will be.

When three of my devices were not working properly I called customer service. After waiting on hold 50-minutes (no kidding), i got a CS person who seemed in a bad mood at first. After some friendly chat she became personable. In this, my first call, I asked why my Internet was not working. She said it won’t recharge until the 16th and there was nothing she could do about it. I had 9 or 10 days before the 16th when I would go without Internet service (It was so slow. It was inoperable). I called back the next day and was told to reset my network preferences. I said we would be disconnected. She said she would call me right back in 2-minutes. It didn’t happen.

On the third call I was told my SIM card was in the wrong phone. I followed the SIM card installation very carefully, so I doubted this analysis. Nevertheless, I went ahead and paid another $10 for an upgrade. The second person was curt, perfunctory, but she did a very good job. She finally laughed at the end when I asked her to order me a Domino's Pizza. Not really pleased with the service or customer service thus far. I hope training is ongoing and some happiness is allowed.

Getting the phone was a little difficult. One, the "helper" on the phone wasn't sure of all the ins and outs. Then it wasn't clear that I wouldn't get the significant discount unless I signed up for massive data. Third, it said on the package that the sim card was already loaded, when it wasn't. Fourth, there were no directions for loading the sim card. (It was fairly difficult to open the little "drawer"). All that said, everyone on the phone that I spoke with were kind, helpful, and respectful. Also, despite the misleading website, I still feel I got a good deal. I am amazed that the phone works in places that I didn't have reception before. However, it didn't work in the White Mountains (Alpine AZ) when my friends' Verizon phones did. (I wasn't too worried about keeping in touch, so it didn't matter, but it might to others.)

First, the service, My wife, and I sign up and then we find that Puretalk was offering a new phone. However, since we already signed up we could not get without canceling the new plan we already asked for. So we did that. The next day, we signed up again and got the new phone in another deal. 3 days later 2 new SIM cards arrived in the mail and 2 more days later a new phone and 2 more SIM cards arrive. Believing that the first set of SIM cards are no good, I proceed with the more recent SIM's I install them and the phones will not activate.

After a call to service, I find the SIM's from the first shipment is the active SIM's. Finally, after 5 days of no cell service, the phones are finally working. Fast forward a month, I notice that my data plan access is sporadic. I call service and they indicate that there are "grey" areas in the data plan coverage - even though none of these "grey" area show in the coverage map of northern Illinois. So I find out I am paying for a data plan that I cannot use. Puretalk solution - pay to unlock the new phone and switch carriers. Unfortunately, my cell reception is poorer than what I had with Verizon. My wife still maintains her cell on Verizon so it's very easy to compare PureTalk coverage to Verizon coverage. We have family in SW Virginia where cell tower coverage is negatively affected by the mountainous region. Nevertheless, her Verizon phone has active reception for 20 minutes longer than my PureTalk phone as we drive to her family's home. As above, that is unacceptable on every level. L you wouldn't stand it for a second. The excuse your people gave for this is laughable and not credible. And you can't do anything about it. Had I known that I would be expected to put up with this I would have gone with another carrier. Does the agreement say that I might have caller ID with someone else's name? If I can't return the phone I'm gonna make it a centerpiece of Youtube video.

    PureTalk
    Response from PureTalk
Greetings, Alan! We are familiar with the situation regarding your caller ID. We truly regret that this has been an ongoing issue for you. Unfortunately, the issue that you are experiencing isn’t quite as simple as it seems. We escalated the issue that you were experiencing to AT&T, and we'd like to share what AT&T had to say.

Per AT&T: "When an AT&T Reseller [Pure Talk] customer dials a landline phone, it will display as “Wireless Caller”, along with the calling party’s telephone number. This is not applicable to mobile-to-mobile calls. AT&T updates their [caller ID] database every night, which updates any activations/changes completed the previous day to ensure that accurate information is in the systems. If the values/caller ID is displaying incorrectly when calling a specific landline, the inquiry should be directed back to the landline service provider (by the landline customer) to request that the data be updated. If an incorrect value is displaying, it is because the landline customer is pulling the caller ID information from an old (cached or locally stored) database. AT&T is not responsible for correcting this, nor do they have any means to make this update."

We regret the frustrations you've experienced. We assure you that if we were able to correct the issue ourselves, it would have been resolved quickly. To recap briefly what AT&T stated, if the person you are calling is on a landline and your name is not showing up correctly, you would need your friend or family member to contact their landline service provider to request they update their caller ID system database. This will resolve the issue you've been experiencing.

I believe AT&T sets up their bills in a way to confuse you so you just give up trying to figure out what you're paying for. Now with Pure Talk the bill statement is easier to understand. The wait time on the phone is excruciating.... 30-40 minutes and then you are disconnected. Start all over again. You are advertised as just as good as the majors.... YOU ARE NOT. Can't find anyone to get answers and when you finally do, setting up the phone is way more involved than you advertise. I was an ATT customer. Very tempted to go back. No one tells you before you sign up that you can't call or text into Canada. This is a standard ATT service. It costs $10 more with you and is considered an add on service that you have to dial a bunch of numbers before you are able to dial the number that you need.

This is prehistoric service! I ran a phone like that in RUSSIA in the 1990s. This is 2020 and it is unacceptable. The best part of it is that your customer service rep told me to get Whatsapp and not sweat the problem. REALLY???? I use the phone for business.... Am I to tell my customer "Sorry can't call you directly, please get on Whatsapp"???? Hannity, Levin and the rest need to stop lying to the world about your product. I reported and it was even worse. That's when I started not having Mobile Data, which I only use when absolutely necessary. Just this week, I called again and the Tech. Had me set up the phone as a used phone. I can't remember exactly what it said, but that is what it meant. That told me Puretalk was punishing me because I didn't buy their phone. I almost changed companies. But after getting the correct setup, things improved, but I am, as yet, not a happy customer. Also, the Tech was not friendly at all. If this was done to me because I have an outsider phone or the cheap plan, shame on Puretalk. This is the best I can do with my income.

Although I am very happy with the price and cost of my service, the service itself is definitely subpar to Verizon. It is certainly adequate, which is why I have stayed. Calls drop more often, coverage is not as good, connections times lag, texts take longer, etc. These issues are not detrimentally bad, but definitely noticeable. The commercials saying it is "the same" service as the big guys, is very misleading. I like that it is US based. The representatives are certainly friendly, however were lacking in technical ability/knowledge. I was mislead on multiple occasions about the visual voicemail feature. I am very disappointed with the data rates I'm seeing. I switched from AT&T to PureTalk, so I'm using the same towers I had with AT&T. I see regular dropping of my regular streaming service (iHeartRADIO). I see dropping of the stream at least once or twice per hour and the drop lasts for 30 seconds to several minutes. My phone never shows that my connection is 4g, shows LTE+ instead. I'm actually considering trying another service to see if it gets better. I like the price of Puretalk, but I listen to iHeart every day and am sick of the data drops.

NO information is available online about setting up voicemail with PureTalk. I called two times because on my new iPhone 11, I cannot use the Voicemail option. The representative was less than helpful. I told her the call never connects if I use the voicemail icon. So I have to dial my whole freaking phone number, wait through all the crap information and THEN retrieve my voicemail. If this is the only option with PureTalk, it does NOT make me happy; as a business person, it's a huge waste of time. And what is the point of spending a fortune on an iPhone if you can't use a simple feature like the voicemail button?!

Finally talking to someone who says they are verifying account... and I get bounced back to the hold queue. Well, they called me back so yay... but still no way to get to tech support just one customer service person answering the phone every 20 minutes. I hated T-Mobile but at least you couldn't drive all the way around O`ahu while trying to finish up a simple tech support call.

I started with Pure Talk this year. I had heard of them from many different radio pundits. But I was hesitant to go with a 3rd party phone company. I had been with AT&T since cells phones came on the market. But I was paying 95.00 a month for one line, and a rate hike was coming. It took a few phone calls to get my phone working properly and I had downloaded the right programs but the call wait time was longer than I would have liked. But the coverage I am getting now is the same as I had with AT&T for 60.00 less a month.

Our experience was not good, My fault or yours, not sure. We heard your advertisement on the Dave Ramsey show and thought it would be good to make the switch and wished we could have done so. We moved my wife's number first to make sure this was going to be an easy move. Got your sim card and found it would not transfer to our flip phones. Phones were too old. Went to Target, bought a phone, supposedly compatible with the PURETALK Sim card. It was ruined by the Target tech who attempted to insert the card. We brought the phone home, purchased another sim card, and put the card in properly, but it would not or could not find the Pure Talk signal. I called your tech and he and I tried to manually insert all the correct info the phone needed to connect with Puretalk.

The phone would not allow me to insert one detail and after trying to insert that detail for about 30 mins your tech and I gave up and I returned the phone to Target. I purchased another phone via Amazon with all the details your techs had given me, unloaded, 3 g or better, and something else I don't remember. The phone came in and in her eagerness to get the phone up and running, my wife attempted to insert the sim card. In the process the card was made a nano card which was too small for the phone. It did not work. We tried everything. We ordered another sim card. Upon receiving the sim card I correctly inserted the sim card. It would not or could not receive a signal. I again called your tech and they graciously attempted to help me through the whole process once again.

It did not work. In the process of inserting and removing the sim card many times, not only did I ruin the sim card but also, the phone. Your tech was coaching me through this process. I returned the phone to the phone company. Obviously the phone was not compatible. Once again I called your tech. She gave me the specs for a phone that would be compatible to Puretalk. I looked one up on Amazon, called your tech and she assured me it would be compatible. It was a ANS F30. I ordered a fourth sim card. By the way, we did not want a smart phone and you did not have a flip phone available for us to buy. It was going to be great! We finally had the right phone, were getting a new sim card and everything was finally going to fall together as it should.

The card came. The phone came. The card was properly inserted into the phone and your tech was called. We were told to turn it off, wait for 5 to 10 mins and when turned back on we would be officially in the Puretalk family. It did not work. No signal could be reached. WE GAVE UP and went back to US Cellular. The phone obviously was not compatible to Puretalk. We purchased and paid for 4 sim cards, 3 phones each we were assured would be compatible, were charged two months of service and not once did we ever use your service. My wife was without a phone for 3 months.

If I didn't know better, I would say you have a good racket going and you don't really have to provide service to anyone. Just charge them monthly, tell them which phone to buy, sell them sim cards and provide some of the kindest customer service we've had and say your sorry when it doesn't work and move on. Mad, not at all, disappointed yes, but we are over it. Would I recommend? Only if you were equipped to sell them a phone they wanted and was guaranteed to work. It would have been nice to have been reimbursed the money for the service we never used.

    May God Bless,

    Leon and Jean **
