GTL seriously is the most frustrating company I have ever dealt with. My LO literally has to call me several times and still is not connected to me, they have said this is an issue with my carrier T-Mobile, but I honestly think its GTL's poor service. I agree with others when they say GTL continuously tells you the incorrect balance left on your account, I check mine daily to ensure I have enough funds. Their video visit software/app is also garbage, I am not allowed to schedule anything and when I call customer service it is a joke. They have instructions that are BOGUS and their sense of urgency is non existent. They know we have no other service to use so they are likely not going to fix anything, making this process frustrating to say the least.

Please be aware!!!! GTL has a scam going on where they are telling you the wrong amount for your balance. They will say your balance is $12.00 when the actual balance might only be $2.00 so that when you accept the call it will allow you to talk the entire 30 minutes then put your account in the negative balance leaving you owing money to GTL. The next time you add funds it will automatically take the negative balance. Always check your balance before and after a call because they will trick you. They got me once but never again.

This service is the worst. Half the calls don't even go through despite hitting the prompt (#5) to pick up the call. My loved one spends majority of his rec time trying to get through to no avail & when it does go through we only have a few minutes to talk as if our time isn't already limited. We pay for this service and expect it to work. Customer service pasted the blame onto the prison. When I contacted the prison the officer explained to me that it's on GTL because other inmates are having the same issue. All they do is turn the phones on/off. I called customer service 3x to resolve this matter and nothing is working. Perhaps since they are a monopoly they can blow off their customers while taking the money. Perhaps a class lawsuit should happen..

Took my money and gave me a hard time to refund. I have to file a dispute. I would not recommend this company to no one. I will file a formal complaint as well. I suggest you do your research. You don’t need this service.

Global Tel is a scam. Do not use this company. I'm battling them now for a refund due to horrible service. After your incarcerated individual call and it's offered to put money on do it that way because this company is horrible.

After loading my account several times today the system still didn’t allow me my 30 minute call. I called customer service which was a joke. First representative says it’s because my boyfriend attempted the called more than 15 before it was connected which was a lie. I asked for my call to be escalated then the so called supervisor on duty was worst. He could not tell me why my money was being held.
He also said he released it but my account still doesn’t reflect the true balance. I asked why I could not add my number to the app, he had no answer for that either. So I asked where he was located because you can always tell when a company is using offshore help. They’re like robots they just keep repeating a script and never answer your question. So I ask to shoe speak to a US agent which he first replied one is not available and when I asked what are their hours. He stated he couldn’t tell me. I just needed to call back. This is poor customer service and ridiculous.

You can pay for a visit and not get it because your phone isn’t compatible!!!! Then when you ask for a refund for services you didn't use they tell you it's your fault because your phone isn’t compatible!!!! For real? So you keep people's money because your phone isn’t compatible which in email it didn't say that or I could of cancelled by the way they charge you a service fee for that too!!!! They are scammers!!! Somebody investigate this company.... Switch to a new service for the people!!!! Not the company!

It’s a shame that my loved one has been waiting entirely too long for a tablet! Why not allow them to purchase one of their own?. The prison does not care but the family and friends do and it’s not right to have to wait on something that can be purchased! My loved one has been waiting for a tablet well over 4 months and still doesn’t know when he’ll receive one! DO BETTER!!!

There is no customer service support! They don’t answer their phone, tell you, "Leave message, someone will call back." All they do is send emails. One representative said they will not help me if I use profanity. I told them to look up the definition cause nowhere in my email ever had profanity. I used the word stupid!! A couple of time. Shame on this company!!

This place is a scam! When I realized I was in the wrong site they took my money. When I tried calling they didn't answer. I called back the next day. They answered. The lady said, "You have to pay 14.99 for service fees." "Service fees for what? I didn't use your service!" She said, "I will forward this to someone else and see if you can get a refund for the remaining balance." I said, "I will report you to the bbb." She said, "Okay. Go ahead." So I did. Next I got a email saying they don't have any association with the bbb. Well we will see! This is a scam. Don't use this site! Who would argue with a consumer telling you I made a mistake. I didn't mean to use your site. Please just give me back my money. This lady was downright rude! And the emails to follow were also!

I wish that zero stars was an option. These people are absolute thieves. NEVER use them. They guise themselves as another company they have no affiliation with and then steal your money. I contacted them only moments after the purchase, left a voicemail and now they're going back and forth with me via email instead of refunding my money. I hope they go out of business.

Scam practices and fraudulent company, never give them your credit card, you see any circumstances, they attach to a legitimate website and before you know it you have paid a company you never wanted to pay. They then tell you they cannot only $31 of the $46. NEVER USE THEM.

Terrible company. They do not refund unused funds. They will not remove phone numbers from my account. On their website they claim you can email them for a refund, so I did. They responded that I could call them. I don't have the time to sit through their hold times, so I told them, fine, keep the money, but please remove 3 numbers off of my account. They will not respond. They won't remove the numbers either. I literally have no control over my own account, and they are impossible to deal with. I pray a new company will come in as an alternative.

GTL Getting Out app is garbage. The app will not let me deposit money to family and friend account. When I go through the process it only show the previous tab, there is no next tab. Called but no help.

The calls are always being dropped, the audio constantly cuts in and out resulting in long silences and never the audio never recovers, and in the few instances when I can hear my loved one he sounds like he is underwater. This service offers "free phone calls" but they NEVER work. We spend $.05 per message and half of those don't go through either. When we try to use the video calls, the audio and video are always cutting out and it's impossible to use. This has to be the worst service ever offered and there is absolutely no accountability. There is no customer service support to help with these issues. They are happy to take your money though.

This company charges you 49.99 to create an account. It does not state that before you sign up for an account! I called and they hung up on me when I demanded a refund. This company needs to be taken to court and everyone refunded!!! Misleading company!!!

I was overcharged. I was charged 2 times instead of once. I called and they said there was nothing they could do so I disputed only one charge with my bank since I couldn’t work it out with them. They (GTL) in return took both transactions so I still ended up eating $80. I did everything they asked which was getting a printout from my bank and showing the charges and I proved just that and what did they do they put a permanent block on my account. And the person I talked to last told me I needed to get another letter from the bank stating I made a mistake and did not mean to dispute the charges. I said that would be a lie and Joe (from gtl) told me that would be the only way they (gtl) can fix it!
GTL is the worst! They DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL!! And their customer service is even worse! I have never came across a company like this! Inhumane employees and they treat the customers poorly! Like we inmates! And I have never been to jail a day in my life! Add empathy to your training!!! I wish there was one person there I could talk to that knows how to talk to people!

They want to verify you about your money. Bad company and poor customer service. They wanted a copy of my phone bill to verify my phone number for what. Crazy. Stay away. Called to only be told call back in 3 days. Already been 5 days.

Someone has to stop these crooks. They took $46 out of my account with no authorization whatsoever. They check the box stating terms and conditions. And even still the terms have nothing stating that charge. Any attorneys out there you have an easy class action. Unfortunately I am not the only one. Many many more. They deserve jail time. Paypal blocked payment. I had to get a new card. They stated this isn't the first time as I they are familiar with this corruption. Look online. They CHECKED the box. Then refused a refund. They still didn't get my money.

They blame it on the FireCamp, that my son does not have a pin # in calling out. The FireCamp Ishi says it GTL. And they put me on hold up to 30 minutes, to tell me to call another #. They are rude and it’s the only Company you can go threw. My son went threw the same thing, before he got transferred from Jamestown. Everyone got a tablet, but he didn’t. The prison said they had nothing do with it. I had to call GTL. Same thing, the lady from GTL was Evony, and she was very rude. When I would go online, for video calls, it says he is released. Never had a problem while he was at Wasco prison waiting to get transferred to Jamestown. When everyone else gets tablets, and he doesn’t, and now he can’t get a PIN number to call out. Sounds like they are prejudice. Hope something can be done about this.

I had a family that was incarcerated for a short period and when I tried to add money to my account they kept suspending my card making it impossible to use for anything afterwards. I needed up having to upload money via Western Union in order to speak to my loved on. Once my loved on was released I requested a refund for the remaining balance of my account. First of all everyone you speak with over the phone has such a thick accent, you can’t understand them then they cut you off while you are talking. They stated that my refund was approved and that it would be debited to the card that was on file. That was December 22, 2022. They said it would be 90 days which I was not happy with.
I waited 2 weeks before calling again. Once I got someone on the phone they told me that they didn’t have my information in the computer so I gave it to them again. This time them telling me it would be mailed out. A 2 months went by still no refund so I call back and they explain that it was approved on January 30, 2023 and that it would be 39 days for it to reach me! Now here it is March 10, 2023 and I call because I still haven’t received my refund and they say, "Oh we have 2 more days before the 30 is up and that’s not including weekends." SMH. I’m so frustrated with the run around a I’ve been getting. I will never use this company again. If my loved one goes to jail they just gone have to write me cause this service sucks!!!

Hey all these people are bogus as hell. They boasting about how they are the cheapest for jail / prison calls. They ain't **. I tried setting up an account with them, they gave me a jail telephone number, charge me $50 before I even completed setting up an account, now I can't complete setting up the account and they have the nerve to tell me they won't give me my $50 back. They'll only give me $25. I haven't even used any of the money. Couldn't even finish setting up the account. And then for you to tell me you won't give me my full refund it's **. I don't give a ** your terms and conditions that you tell me that I can't have a full refund because it's not their fault that I couldn't complete my account set up when it is.
How is it my fault that your site is experiencing technical difficulties so refund me my full amount. And stop boasting about how you are so cheap. You're not. Somebody really needs to report these guys to the Better Business Bureau. The more people the better get them shut down. How are you going to lie to your consumers when they have loved ones in jail or prison and need to talk to him and you guys are charging the same amount if not more than everyone else. So in short do not use them. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE TO TALK TO YOUR LOVED ONES.

The incompetence level and unprofessionalism of this company is staggering. It is nearly impossible to tell which account is which so if someone accidentally deposits money into the tablet account when it was intended to go into their commissary account then you are out that money. Customer Service is anything but Customer Service. They are nothing more than a bunch of thieves and all under the guise of law enforcement.

UPDATED 10/31/2022: Tried signing up to create an account to see if I could add money to an inmate, didn't see nowhere in the site I would be charged over 45.00, I received an email from the site while still in sign up letting me to register this number. (That's when I put the brakes on and checked my bank account and noticed the charge) after a few hours requested a refund of something I didn't agree to purchase. Just trying to sign up. NOT EVEN GETTING A FULL REFUND never even used the service of this website.

I used GTL's Getting Out app to send a message to an inmate in jail. I used the inmate's first name and a nickname in the contents of the message. I had to register with my phone number to use the service. About 2 weeks later I received a call from a company "Jefferson **" asking to speak with (First Name)(Nickname) I used in my message. I have never used those names before. How interesting! BEWARE USING GTL GETTING OUT!

Somehow I got from "PayTel" (an inmate telecommunications service) onto the "InmatesTalk" website. I guess I clicked an "advertisement button" by mistake. I filled out my personal information and even gave my credit card. Immediately, my card was debited $44.99 without my consent. This account cannot not be connected to the detention center my son is at. The company refuses to refund my money.

I was trying to put money on a loved one's acct and in order to do so I put all my info in and they charged me $45, Without so much as a review of charges. I had NO IDEA I was being charged. VERY MISLEADING! I tried to get a refund immediately. They said I would hear from them in 2 days, after 4 I emailed them. They said they could give me $31, that they keep 14.99. I said, "No. I want all my money" and they were nothing more than scam artists and thieves. I needed my money so 2 weeks of back and forth and and I said, "Screw it" and took the $31. Because of this my insurance payment was returned by my bank and I was charged a return fee and a late charge. Ended up costing me almost $50 PLUS the 14.99 that Global tel stole from me!! BEWARE: SCAM ARTISTS, All around crappy dishonest people! Do not use this site.

In the last 11 months of using Global Tel*Link's services, I have repeatedly encountered problems. Their staff are trained to feign incompetence, pretend to forward the concern to the appropriate department or ignore it altogether. In the latest incident, some system-wide issue resulted in GTL resetting inmate's tablets - used for communication and entertainment - and balances dropping to $0.00. As yet, there has been no acknowledgement of the problem, demonstration of effort to fix it, or offer to restore the balance. From what other industry do we tolerate such atrocious service? Global Tel*Link is the exoskeleton on the cockroach of the "criminal justice" system.

This company is definitely scamming people. I signed up for their service in error and immediately emailed them to cancel, it was actually 5 minutes Later. First of all, they don’t display how much you are being charged till after you put your Credit card info in, they charge you a flat rate of 49.99 without your consent to that price.
Agree To pay the 14.99. Stay away from this company, there are other companies that have the same service as them. Just look on the internet.

I thought that I was just creating an account for this company. I entered all my info and was automatically charged $45.99 for something that I didn't and don't want. When I call this company, no one ever answers the phone. I was able to cancel the service immediately but they still took my money. I've been trying to get a refund for almost a week. GTL or Global Tel*Link is THE ONLY company where you may get a phone call from your loved one in jail. This goes to explain all the other comments about "NOT RECOMMENDING THIS COMPANY;" well, there is NO OTHER company to choose from if you want your son, wife, or simply, your loved one to call you, or, to get in touch with. Therefore, these people are CROOKS with a badge to cheat and rob individuals in need to get in touch with any inmate.
Moreover, due to this situation; the calls are cranked, mess with, phone calls have most of the time interference, meaning: out of 5 calls, one is lucky to get ONE clear call from the inmate, if there is a free call (like in the case of the MCJ-Men Central Jail, Los Angeles County, every Monday inmates have one free call) GTL makes sure the phone call gets hang up, over, and over, until the inmate uses the paid system and get a call with interference where one may not understand a thing the inmate is speaking to.
Thereafter, when you call to complain, there is NO ONE available for more than 40' of wasted time and, then, they are rude, don't fix the problem, they don't give any credit, and in addition: they hang up on you! Why? Because they can, because there is NO ELSE one may use to hear the voice of your love one. MONOPOLY!!! To the max! Disgusting! They play with people's feelings and emotions with no regard for human kindness. I wish this gets to the TV NETWORKS to unveil the madness and all the people making money off the need of others.

Trying to reach inmate packages this screen pops up. I thought I was enrolling into care packages for inmates, instead it was for phone service for them. It automatically charged my card 45.99. I tried to cancel immediately and here 6 days later, still trying. I have never used the services, have no need for them. I have a house phone, why would I pay for a service? Beware, huge rip off company. (I had to rate it a 1, because there is nothing lower.)

I was looking for connect network but unfortunately clicked on the first related company (Global TEL) because it's a paid ad. I went thru sign up process and immediately was charged $49 and have caught heck getting a refund. They continue to try and get me to remain with them saying they have a nonrefundable fee per terms and cond. But let's be honest, who reads the fine print. Irregardless, that's a sincerely crappy way to conduct business by defrauding people upon sign up to review products and charging immediately for plans you never saw info on. So even if I could use this company... NO WAY IN HELL!!

They pull up when you are trying to pull up another site. You create an account thinking that it's something different and then as soon as you put your information in before you can look at plans or anything they take your money. Then when you call they only want to give you some back.. They're very rude. They hang. When you ask for transfer they stop speaking. You are waiting to see if you can be transferred thinking that has happened then after a min or two you speak they just on the line saying nothing then they say, "We don't do that." Then if you ask for the billing department they online do email.. It is a scam. I will be posting on all sites I know to be aware.

I was trying to sign up for email, only. I signed up with this company in error. I've never had anyone in jail and I wasn't aware this was a different Company. I realized the error right away and attempted to get a refund. They emailed right back trying to get me to keep this. When I finally told them I don't want to receive phone calls, just email! They emailed again for me to keep it. They are charging me 14.99! What a SCAM. I never saw a price either, until I looked up my bank account to see if email Co. took out right amount, that's when I saw their charge. I am very upset about this. They are taking people's hard earned money!!! Totally not fair! *SCAMMERS*.

Googled Global Tel*Link. This consumer pops up. Not everyone is used to love ones going to jail. This company knows that no one is paying 45.99 for collect calls. They ask for all your info all the while I am thinking once I place my info in they will ask the amount I wish to put on my phone for collect calls. They never answer the phone once you submit. They take your money then will not answer when you call and when they do. It's a charge of $15 to cancel. Never used anything. This business needs to be shut down completely. They are taking advantage of people. Taking people money. I guarantee they only get $15 each person because everyone cancels once realized this was not the correct global tel link although it's what pops up on Google as well. I hope the BBB takes heed to all these reviews and shut this place down.

They use Google Ads to place their scam of a company on the top front page of Google and make it seem like they are another company. Charge you almost $50 for something you can get for free with an app, and even if you don’t use it and you call right away they keep your money.

GTL have been taking my money when I do the transactions then when it’s done pending they take it again but keep telling me to send in my statements now? When I’m using a prepaid card and on top of that the only way for them to be able to see what I’m talking about is to screenshot my balance. SMH. This is beyond sad. I’m looking for an attorney so that they can get into my banking account, see me set up the visits and see how they’ve been double charging me. I’m beyond sick of them. If y'all balances are getting low and you use GTL THIS IS WHY. They are charging you twice and your bank can’t even see it unless they are watching every transaction in your account and waiting until it’s done pending.

The service did not work in Lake Co, FL. I have been trying for over a month to get a refund. There is no way to talk to customer service or if they have such. In less than a few seconds they can take your money then want $15 to refund you if they get around to it. I am still waiting after a month. These companies should not be allowed to run scams in government facilities.

I signed up for this service, thinking this was the only way to contact a family member that was incarcerated. I did not use the service and canceled it within 24 hours. The service is $45.99. However they only refunded $31. From a service that was never used. I would advise anyone that is trying to set up a Phone account to talk to someone that is incarcerated, to use GTL connect. It is much simpler and you are much less likely to get ripped off.

I made account, added money. I missed first initial call Jan. 2021. Since then I only get robo calls when daughter adds my number. It doesn't ring, no missed call. Goes straight to voicemail. After 48 hr she gets message that "the number she trying to reach has not been approved in given time frame." It hasn't been approved because I'M NOT GETTING THE CALLS! NOT EVEN A MISSED CALL SO I HAVE A NUMBER! I have called GTL every week since Jan, sometimes 2x a day. I have talked to so many ppl. They started changing their name. Talked to Kari and at end of call she said "this is MISTY thanks for calling gtl." REALLY! They say it's the facility, my phone, block. They have supposedly removed block18x since I started keeping notes. Haven't had any trouble with any other phone service in any jail till gtl. So thankful we have jpay to email.

I was setting up an account to have contact with my son. After I set the account up they immediately charged my account $45.99 instead of letting me decide if I wanted to fund the account. When I attempted to contact them on 5 different days all I could get was an automated system that takes a message and says someone will call you back. No calls were received. However, I did receive an email from the company from someone who called herself Princess saying if I wanted a refund there is a 14.99 processing fee. I have been trying to get a refund for over a week and still have not been able to speak to anyone in the company. This company is a scam. I would not recommend using this service. I have given up all hope of a refund and now have to cancel debit card. Have another card issued to guarantee they will not charge my account again.

This is a scam. You set up a account thinking it's to be able to accept phones calls..but you're not. They charge you 45.99 right when you set up your account. I never agreed to any payment at that time. Then they said they can only refund 31.99 because they charge 14.99 as a fee... fraud company!!! They got my friend's mom too. Same charge.. I told her what happened to me and I looked at her email and she got the same thing. She thought she was setting up for phone calls not some postcards deal. DON'T CREATE A ACCOUNT WITH THIS COMPANY. Needed to set up phone service to receive calls from a grandson in jail.. I tried their plan, 45.00 fee processed in seconds. Then I found how complex setting it up was and tried to cancel within 1 hr. I was charged 15 bucks for set up which was never done. CROOKS.

As others have stated you are taken to the website by an offer of a 50 cent postcard and you have to make an account then boom your bank is charged a $49.99 fee for phone service that you didn’t agree to. After many calls and emails customer service arguing the facts and threatening a $250 dispute fee! This company is terrible based out of the rehab scamming capital of the world (West Palm Beach). I will never recommend this company or use their services! The charge will be disputed! Despite the threat, false claims and deceit of the vulnerable families!

Like many others on here, unfortunately I thought they were the legit GTL only to find out that they are "postcard" scammers! You will be quickly billed $45.99 and within 5 mins you will realize that it is not the correct system. So then you panic. Then you try to call them, they don't answer (because scammers are cowards), so you call them again, and again, and again until your only option is to leave a voicemail. Then 5 mins later you'll get an email begging you to keep their stupid postcards. They will then continue to hide behind their emails and bicker with you back and forth until they finally drop the "well we are scammers so we are entitled to keep $15.00 of your hard earned money" and you'll only get a $31 refund if that!! TRASH TRASH TRASH! Will be reporting to the BBB! HE should be shut down ASAP!!!!!

This inmate phone services at times receive your payment, and do not provide or make difficult for service. I mailed a money order payment on Dec 22, 2020. The money order was Cashed on Jan 11, made out to GTL. I have spoken to Raq on 1/8, 1/14 Raul then an escalations supervisor Evelyn (she was the most considerate as well as explained the 1st person entered 1 digit incorrectly) which she fixed, on 1/20/21, I spoke to Richard, then a supervisor Max, could not track, but asked me to email any copies that I had. I sent an email with 4 pic attachments to customerservice@gtl.net, Attn. Backofficeteam!
Yes, today my little $30 that they cashed is still not on my account. Today, 1/22/21 spoke to Stephanie, then the supervisor JOANNE, both unhelpful, with Joanne even saying it's No one else to talk to, I have to hang up and call back to get a different supervisor. Well, I took the time to write this review first.. Do not know what was done incorrectly, but my money order made to gtl was cashed. Bad business, but they have been allowed to get away with this for so long. I may see if the news channel is interested in how these businesses are allowed to rip off consumers, who are family and friends of offenders. Because, the state allow as well for these select companies to have control, where we have no choice.. Anyone reading, report to BBB.... We recently changed from GTL AdvancePay phone service to another company specified by the institution. When asking for your money to be returned, they are short and unhelpful on the phone, trying to come up with a question you can’t answer and then telling you to call back. I ended up successful, after giving them the original info they asked for (date of last deposit, deposit amount, last four of the card funds were paid from, after validating the account), then they threw in extras to the info they had asked me to prepare. "So what’s the first six numbers on the card, do you own the phone, what’s the expiration date, etc." Luckily I had all that, but they tried to tell me to call back 3-4 times with the extra questions. As a reminder, it’s OUR money. We already paid their service charges.

Once I added my card information, I was charged $45.99 on my card without my consent. This appears to be a SCAM. It is not clearly stated anywhere on this website "you are being charged". I MADE THE SAME MISTAKE. I GOT SCAMMED TOO. I signed up with Global Tel Link - GTL.NET - and paid $10 worth of phone time for your loved one to call you (you know what is you are being charged for). I never received refund. I messaged them the day my ticket is under review. It’s a shame they scamming people. As soon as you think you adding your income to find out if they work with the jail. I wish I could give this service a zero rating! I wanted to put funds on a trust fund account. I made the mistake of selecting a calling account. Literally, within minutes I contacted the company to request a refund due to the error. They kept trying to convince me how beneficial the calling plan would be. I explained that I wouldn't use the service and wanted a full refund. I was told that I could only be refunded $31 of $50. There was no legitimate reason why the plan could not be refunded, because I notified them of the issue minutes after selecting the purchase. The customer service is horrible! They threatened to take legal action if I disputed the charge through my bank. This company is a scam. Do not use them. Tell your friends and family not to use them! But either way, save your money or find another way to send funds.

This company charged me twice then declined the payment. Had my money all caught up in the system and had the nerve to ask me for another card number. The representatives are nasty.. agitating and don't resolve the issue and don't care bout taking people money or them taking to there family members. They're Spanish speaking and rude.. and sarcastic.. and smart alecs. I spoke to about 7 representatives... They're disgusting how they talk to people and taking advantage of people cause of people situation... Damn foreign people and the supervisors are worst... The jail systems should not be using this company. Disrespectful to people and taking advantage of people.

I have been trying to get an international phone account through GTL for over 3 months. When I call, I get a different answer from each and every Customer Service Assistant. When I message, no one replies back. I've written a complaint letter to the Alabama address I was given. As yet, no reply from them either. As there's no other phone system at the facility of my buddy, I will have to continue to engage with GTL in the hope I get lucky one day. 1 star is too generous...

I’ve unfortunately had to deal with this company for the past three years. The billing is inconsistent and doesn’t match their posted rates. Every time I’ve had dropped calls or poor sound quality and tried to report using their online contact form, I haven’t received a response. I’ve tried this many times and have never had a response. Even when I have received automatically generated acknowledgement of my submission saying I will receive a response within a few days, I still haven’t heard back from them. You should be able to go online and see a transaction report of payments and how each call has been billed. There is no accountability. The company should not be allowed to operate.

A charge was made to my credit card for $45.99. I still was not able to accept a call. At the end of the automated recording when the call came through again, I still had to place phone call purchase for minimum of $25.00. Then finally, the call went through. I logged into my bank account and found two charges. One from GTL Inmate Phones for $25.00 & the second charge from GLOBAL-TEL.NET. I emailed within minutes to cancel and requested refund. The support team emailed me twice to give them a chance to offer their services. I kept requesting the refund. Third email they said they would only give me $31.00 of my money and to click this link to agree to their terms. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I called my bank! Call your bank!! You can dispute it!
This started at 6am 06/17/20. It's 3:34am, and can you believe these people are still emailing me, arguing with me!?!? HORRIBLE!! BBB has so many complaints filed against them too. I hope they get sued and all of us gets a postcard in the mail about how we will get a portion of winnings! The jail doesn't support their company then it should not have been listed. This is the absolute worst phone service I have ever encountered. They take your money and give crap service. Most calls you cannot even communicate with your loved one in prison because it's not working half the time or one cannot hear the other, during which each minute that passes they are sucking up all your money. I wish there were other options for phone service with inmates. This company should be ashamed of themselves for charging so much for crap service. I would have more luck getting a message through by using a pigeon. Half the time the phones aren't even working. I have been doubled charged on my debit card and they refused to make it right. They are laughing all the way to the bank.

I can’t see why I’m going to be penalized $15 when this account has never been used. I wrote immediately when I found out that this service wasn’t for where my family member is at. It said The State Prison, but there’s not way to use the account. I deserve a full refund! Your company advertising is a hassle. Now you say how to use it & it’s a big hassle. This company is awful! I’m not sure how they are even in business. They rob you of your money and their products don’t work! The videos never work. It is so sad that my husband and I can’t even see each other the 3 days we are allowed to have videos. The videos freeze, no audio or go to black screens. They never answer their phones on support and refuse to refund my money for all the videos that never work. This company is crap!

It is extremely frustrating that the family of incarcerated people have to pay a premium for lackluster services just to stay connected. Being charged for calls that haven’t gone through as in neither party can hear anything so seconds later we hang up to try again. Poor customer service. The inability to easily remove/add phone numbers that are new or no longer valid is ridiculous.

I cannot get GTL to stop calling me about a prisoner contact, leaving GTL voice mails and trying to set up an account by getting my credit card information. I have sent messages to get them to stop. I called their customer service, but they wanted to set up passwords and an account just to get me to stop them from trying to set up an account! Their customer service was an associate whose English was SO BAD I could not understand ANYTHING, except that he wanted more personal information to STOP them. They have the number I want blocked in their records, but they wanted even more. I threatened to report them for robocalls and contacting a number on the Federal "Do Not Call List" and suddenly they said "Oh, We'll take care of that" and hung up on me.

This company is the absolute worst! They have a corner on the market, so there are no other choices. I work in a law firm and it is impossible to get the account set up properly so that our clients call us. I have spent the last 90 minutes trying to get our account updated so that we can get calls on more than one phone line from more than one facility. Apparently they cannot grasp that concept. After all that time, including speaking to someone in customer service, we are STILL only set up with one facility able to call one line, and 2 facilities able to call our second line. There is no way to get all the facilities set up on both lines. ALSO, be aware that if you don't happen to get any calls for three months, they eat away your deposit in "fees". You have to constantly check in to make sure you are in "active" status. I could go on and on about how awful they are, but I'm sure no one wants to keep reading my complaints.

I cannot believe this company is in business. I accidentally mixed up the website to purchase minutes to talk to an inmate (loved one). The website I was supposed to be on was ITI GTL. This is for the state and county in Pennsylvania. I looked up GTL (this website) and created my login info. I entered in all my info including my card info thinking it was taking me to a new page where I could select the amount of minutes I wanted as well as finding the inmate and jail I wanted. This was not the case.
Within minutes of creating this I was sent an email stating I was billed $45.99. When I sent an email to the company asking why I was charged without being told I was going to be charged this specific amount I was told that their website is very clear and it’s my fault for not knowing better. I asked what the $45.99 was for and was told it was for a “special phone number”. When I told them I didn’t need to pay for a special number that my cell number works just fine and that I want a refund they responded by telling me according to their terms and conditions I would only be refunded $31 and that they keep $14.99. They keep $14.99 for doing nothing. I never used their services and I contacted them within minutes of them drafting the $45.99 from my account. This company is deceiving. Their website is not clear. And I by the reviews there are others who have had similar issues with this company.
Their customer service reps are rude. I spent 5 days in constant contact via email trying to get my partial refund of $31 back. Every time I would get an email they would try to talk me into using the services and telling me to think about it before making a final decision of a refund. And each time I had to tell them I did not want their services and had no need for them and that a refund is my FINAL decision. I truly feel scammed by this company. I’ve set up many logins and added my card to many accounts online but never have I ever been charged without being told what I was being charged for. I order everything online. I recommend to anyone who is thinking of using this company that you do your research before you set any account info up because the second you hit save you will be billed $45.99 and will not be given a full refund. If I could give zero stars I would. Terrible company and even worse customer service.

I screwed every time I use this company but I keep doing because I have to I think I talk to the same guy that don't listen or speak English well. He hangs up on me every time so I have to wait the long hold time again. He never helps with my questions. Right now I can't log in. It says my password is wrong so I go to trouble signing in and it says I'm logged in. I change my password. Still won't work but I can go to help and on that press sign in and get on my account. The man on the other end says I'm wrong but I still can't do my retail money order. He won't help with that either. I give this company lots of money. I have a problem every time. It won't take my my debit card anymore either so I have to do retail walk in. My card should not be rejected. It has worked in the beginning.

Do not do business with this company. Ever since the penal system has been privatized companies like this rape the families that have loved ones that are incarcerated by charging extremely exorbitant prices making their website confusing and very difficult to use therefore causing many people to purchase without realizing they have purchased! Which is exactly what happened to me and when I immediately and I am talking seconds contacted them by email and phone and contacted my bank to express that I had made a mistake they charged me $45 And claims they can only refund 31 of it because of a service fee.

I guess I made a mistake and made 2 payments to my phone instead of 1 to mine and 1 to my wife's. Call customer NO service and they told me that it would take 72 hours to correct and all I Could do is move the entire account balance in 72 hours. That does not help when your family is try to call today. Don't make a mistake or put too much money on your account or you may not be able to use it.

Gtl is a horrible company. First of all they have people that barely speak English then they took my money and didn't deposit it on my account for me to talk to my husband and I keep calling and getting different answers from different people regarding my account. Now they're saying 3-10 business days I have to wait before depositing money and maybe it go thru. They can't guarantee anything. I have not spoken to my husband in 3 days and lost 35 dollars. I have to wait 3 weeks before my bank gives it back. They truly are bad but have no choice. This is the phone company my husband prison uses.

This is a truly horrible company. If there is a period of 90 days without use, they simply take - or steal - your prepaid balance and set it to zero. They do not notify me (the payer) or the inmate - they just STEAL the money. It happens that inmates lose privileges for 90 days and can't call; this company is well aware of that fact, takes advantage of it and STEALS the money. I have had to make multiple phone calls to have the money put back on my account and it is not there yet. This is the second time I've been through this with them. Horrible. Sadly, most of us don't have an option to use them.

Before my fiance can reach me, he has to call 3x. The first 2 calls appears as missed call and does not go through. I have called GTL numerous times but no answer. I have emailed GTL but no reply. While on ConnectNetwork website I clicked on Transaction History. Each call be being taxes anywhere from .28, .39, .63 and 98 cents. It is bad enough you pay a service fee. Half the he time you either cannot get through or gets cut off.

Like a few others in here I set up the $45.99 for 3 months family plan. Well that's a joke. You pay for a "SPECIAL" # only to find out that you still have to put fund in the inmate acct. Next joke, you call only connect with them via EMAIL because their systems are always down and no agent available. Wait, What? You're a TELEPHONE service provider but YOUR system doesn't work? After 1 day I emailed them and cancelled. I was told about the $14.99 PROVISION FEE. What is that supposed to be. Do not use them!!!

I never write negative reviews, but these people are so bad that I feel like I have to. I normally have zero interaction with the jail system, but an inmate in the Pinellas County, Florida Jail today tried to call me collect in regards to a business dealing with his family. After the automated system stated that there would be an $8+ collect call charge if I accepted the call, I declined. The system did provide the alternative of setting up a prepaid account with a credit card. I listened to the entire recording and every prompt and then loaded $10 onto a prepaid account. At no time did the automated system warn me or disclose to me that there was a $3.33 service fee that would be subtracted from my account balance; yet that is exactly what happened.
When I called the company, a customer service representative named Anna told me that there was nothing she could do based on the company's policy. I then escalated the call and spoke with a supervisor named Candace (spelling?). After a long conversation, she stated that there was nothing that could be done. She even went so far to state that even if the service charge was for $10 (i.e., wiped out my $10 balance), there was nothing wrong with this practice. At no time did they disclose this up front, and so this is a fraudulent practice. I will be continuing to fight. This is a matter of principle. I already have contacted the Sheriff and will be filing a small claims action if necessary. They need to disclose these fees up front. Beware!

I did get my refund back in full. Start off by keeping copies of all correspondence with the company when trying to get a refund. Then if you paid for services from this company by credit card or bank card. Take all the information that you have to the bank. Ask for a dispute on your card. With all the information I had it took less then 24 hours for the company to email me and say I would receive a full $45.99 refund. This $250.00 fine is just a attempt to make you go no further in your quest to get your money back. I am more than willing to help anyone that needs help in getting the money back.

I emailed with 4 CS agents to get a refund of $45.99 – since we were unable to connect with our family member who was in jail for 12 hours. After numerous emails, ALL CS agents were rude and kept saying we could not get a full refund - only $31, since there was a $14.99 non refundable portion. The rest of my review will not stay viewable. What a fraud this company is. I told them I had lost my job one month prior but they still would not refund all of my money. I told them I hoped the $14.99 they let from me would be used for employee training in compassion, kindness & empathy. What a fraud.

So I normally set up an advance paid account for $15-$20 to talk to my family member. This time (today) I decided to only pay for just one call and was charged $39.54 to talk for one time. I was told by the automated system that "the rate for this call would be $3.xx", they ended up charging me $39.54 and then told me that there was nothing that they could do about it. When I asked the rep if that made sense to her she says she doesn’t know because she wouldn’t pay to speak with an inmate. Mind you this is the Supervisor’s assistant. So now I’m waiting for a person in charge to follow up on telling me why I was charged $40 for a $4 call.

After getting disconnected on a call from my brother I immediately looked up the phone provider for his facility. This company came up. I filled out the required info and paid the minimum $45. When he tried to call back the jail phone said my balance was $0. When I contacted the # for the phone provider at his facility they said that this happens all the time. Global Tel*link advertises as if they are Globel Tel Link or GTL. When I immediately called to get a refund they said they would only refund $31 dollars. Even though no services were used and no phone calls were made! And then had the nerve to ask if I wanted to give their services a chance! Who would want to use the services of a company that steals $15 from someone that didn’t see the * in the name! So shady! You should be ashamed of yourself!

It takes up to a month for us to get each other’s messages. I sent a message three times with reply stamps each time because it kept saying the message didn’t send. Later they sent the same message 3 times with reply stamps. My loved one got the same message THREE times and GTL said they would refund me 4 credits, then I spoke to two other customer service people who said NO, they don’t refund credits. I’ve been told a supervisor would call me within 24-48 hours, I’m still waiting a month later....The calls are horrible: robotic sounding, scratchy....I usually tell him to call from the regular phone and not the GTL provided tablet. JPAY WAS MUCH BETTER!

I got a call from an inmate and when I tried to put in my credit card info it did not work (the card was good). I was directed to their website in which the lowest amount you can spend is $45. Upon completing my purchase I learned that I would email the inmate a postcard via their website to the inmate with a pin code/access number. The number provided never worked. Customer service was not able to resolve this. When I asked for a refund they charged a $15 fee. I feel this is unfair as the service I wanted never worked. They decline credit card via phone to upsell the more expensive service that does not work. The customer service reps were very rude. I feel as if the customer service does not have regards to their customers because we have little to no options on phone services for inmates.

There's just no end to the frustration you'll have with GTL. They charge me 25 cents a minute plus a deposit fee and their taxes and surcharges. If you try to load money into an account to use to talk to the one in jail/prison there's a really good chance they'll decline your card every time. On the of chance you make it through, you'll see they charge you about 4 dollars in total fees for the first 10 dollars. And the more you add the more they take. With how much they charge, you would think they would have a great service. But that couldn't be further from the truth.
Going back to the card payments, I don't know why they have such a hard time with their system. My banks say the charges are being accepted and they are releasing the money each time I attempt to add to the balance. Yet when I called the GTL/advance pay customer service they refuse to acknowledge it's on their end where it's failing. And constantly push that they can't see why it's failing. I don't know the story with this company, but either they were the lowest bidder and got the contract that way and then proceed to rape their customers every way they can, or they were made by the government and that's no better. But again I haven't done research on the company. They're an unavoidable evil unless the incarcerated one is willing to risk another way of communication or you want to go through snail mail to talk.

This company is absolutely horrible. They charge a ridiculous fee to add money to an account. I know that 2 facilities in PA only use GTL for inmate calls so if you want to have calls from an inmate you have no other option and a forced to use these scamming thieves! An example of their ridiculous fee... You add $11 to your account. $3.36 is their ridiculous fee. And this ridiculous fee changes according to how much you add. THEN they charge a varying fee labeled as 3rd party financial transaction fee. WHAT AND WHO IS THE 3RD PARTY AND WHY AM I BEING CHARGED A DIFFERENT FEE FROM THAT FOR EVERY PAYMENT I MAKE? This is something they can't or won't answer. It's a TOTAL con to get more money in their pockets! They are stealing MILLIONS from people yet nothing is being done to investigate their shady business practices OR having their fees regulated.

They allow you to add more than one phone number to your account without any questions like who owns the number, what carrier it is linked to, when you last made a payment to the phone bill. If you want any balance refunded, they will ask you for all this personal info and refuse a refund if you don't have it. They end up stealing your money if you don't answer their questions correctly.

GTL IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF. They are liars and they steal money. I’ve made payments with my CC and the money has been taken out of my accounts but GTL denied the payments after the fact. I’ve called and waited on hold for an hour to just to speak with a rude agent and get no help! I had to scream at the agent just to get me over to a supervisor or manager, instead he transferred me to escalation department, who might I add couldn’t help me either. They just kept trying to throw it off on my bank, which my bank had already made me aware that it was on GTL’s side. I have been waiting on the hold they placed on my funds for well over a month now. It’s really horrible that the Indiana Department of Correction is using this business. It further proves that the system doesn’t give a care about those prisoners or their loved ones. I will never use this GTL crap again. Communication with my loved ones has now dwindled to just US mail.

REF: Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) Offender Telephone System and Global Tel Link, Corp, (GTL) DBA ConnectNetwork. Please help stop GTL from ripping off consumers with their dishonest and unjust business practices! Unknowing consumers are having their money stolen by GTL daily, they are not being notified that if an inmate does not place a call every 90 days; they will lose their money.
If a consumer wants to receive phone calls from an inmate, they are required by the VADOC and GTL to prepay, which I did and for what I thought to be about six (6) years worth of phone calls that I would expect to receive. I had not worried about overpaying, because GTL states that requests for refunds are processed within 30-60 days, and your account will not be closed. Nowhere or at any time are consumers informed that GTL will take all of their money if they do not receive a phone call every 90 days.
There are multiple reasons as to why an inmate would not be able to make a phone call every 90 days. In my case the VADOC and/or GTL changed the way inmate calls are charged, and without my knowledge, my GTL account was not being debited for calls for 90 days. My account was last debited on February 27, 2016, and on May 27, 2016, exactly 90 days later, GTL stole the remaining $121.48 for what they call “Expired Funds.”
I believe this seizure of money without notice to be unjust and in violation of the Virginia Unclaimed Property Act, §§55-210.1-55.210.30 of the Code of Virginia, and if not, there should be a law against this. For the sake of all consumers, I would like to know and hope that the dishonest business practices of GTL is being stopped, or at least that both the VADOC and GTL make it very clear that you will lose all of your money if you do not receive a phone call from an inmate through the GTL phone system at least once every 90 days.

You'd think it was a refund of a million dollars. For Pete's sake. It is $20.04. Also, the wait time any time of day that I have called is ridiculous. Signed up for this service by mistake. They immediately took 45.99 from my bank account. I did not approve this and nowhere did they state signing up would cost this amount. I called shortly after signing up to cancel the account and was told they had no record of my account. Call for 3 days waiting on hold 6 min before being prompted to leave message. Never returned my call. When I finally got thru they said they would only refund $31 and 14.99 was for the cost of a code they sent me. It's bad enough to have to need inmate phone services. To then have a company scam you is disgusting. They should be reported to the Attorney General. Scamming consumers is a crime.

I was released on 4-3-19. The prison gave me a post card to send off to get my money back from my inmate phone account. It was suppose to be 2 weeks and now it's been almost 2 months. I still haven't received my money. Every time I contact this company they say they aren't the right company and they do not have me in their records. It sounds to me that ripping people off is a common theme with this company and hopefully something happens soon to put an end to this.

This is the WORST company I've ever dealt with. Every week it's something different. First of all, when I first had to use this company's services, I would try to make payments with my debit card. GTL would decline my payments and still take the funds off of my bank card. I've spent hours on the phone with them and Netspend trying to get my funds back into my account. And Netspend did inform me that the problem is on GTL's side and not theirs. I can't even tell you how many times this happened. So now I refuse to pay with my card anymore. So instead of driving a half hour to the jail, I saw that I could make payments at Weis through check free pay slip.
Yesterday I went and deposited the only money I have at Weis. I didn't see my funds appear on my account so I called and they said it will go on in 24 hours. Now it has been well over 24 hours and still nothing. I just called and now they are saying I have to wait 3-5 business days. Now I have no way of talking to my loved one. I wish I never had to deal with them again but I have to if I want to talk to my boyfriend. Very irritated and upset right now with this company!!

This company is horrible! This is the 2nd time they've screwed me out of the money that I deposited for the inmate. After calling and getting put on hold for over an hour, they resolve NOTHING and tell me to call back in 10 days. I've been dealing with this for months. I AM FURIOUS.

They offered me to make a payment via card or PayPal and I selected PayPal instead direct payment. They offered me 1000 minutes talk time but when I made them payment they send me 952 minutes. I spoke to the person who offered me this. He agreed to add 40 minutes to compensate me on first week of May but it never happened. They took money and after that they do not want to listen to you. In my experience they are in India and running business from there. They have very rude staff and they do not want to listen you. If you want to say something they will start abusing you. Be careful while making them payment. Make sure use PayPal or any other secure method to deal with them.

I’ve read most of the bad reviews and I was on the same boat last week. My prison pen pal wanted to speak to me and he told me to add minutes on my phone through Global Tel*Link, he didn’t specify and I assumed it would be .COM. Without notice they charged my card $46 for 3 months and I wasn’t really sure what I had paid for. I called them and they never picked up so I emailed them and they never responded. I did my research and found out it’s Global Tel .NET. I put minutes on my phone and was able to get calls. I get about 12 fifteen minute calls for $23 and our calls haven’t gotten dropped yet. As for Global Tel .COM I had my bank dispute the charge and I got a refund. Goodluck and make sure you only pay GLOBALTEL.NET. or connect network.

This company states on their website they help you stay connected to your inmate, not so, they will take your money and run. 30 emails, kept asking why the number doesn't work, They keep sending back the same canned "We are a legal company, yada, yada, yada", can't tell me why the phone number doesn't work and the only advice is I can use the $29.99 to send 50 cent post cards. If I don't like this then I should have read the website and the terms. There is nothing in the terms stating they would take your money and offer nothing in return. You would think the amount of money people spend on this app that they would make it usable for people. I thought I was just creating an account in order to get more information. But without any warning they billed me for three months of... of what? I'm still not certain what I was even billed for. I immediately asked them to refund the money, but they tell me they have to keep a big chunk of it for their 'processing fees.' As far as I can see, this is a scam. I signed up for this service so I could receive calls from my son. I followed the directions in the email to activate the service and register my phone number and I missed two calls after I set it up. I contacted customer service to ask for a refund and they offered me the option to use their postcards. I declined. I needed to be able to speak with my son at the time I set it up. I advised them that their service didn't work, and I was never able to use it, therefore they should process a complete refund. They offered a partial refund of $31.99 which is not acceptable. I NEVER USED IT! I'm contacting my credit card company to dispute the charge. Shame on this company for taking advantage of people at a time when communication is crucial. Do not pay for this service. You will be disappointed.

So my son in Calif state wants to talk to me, his mom. I followed the directions to set up the account so he could have phone minutes. When he calls the robo voice hangs up on me. I called a number to ask for help. I was told I didn't make a payment... Oh Yes I did and it's been processed thru my bank. Then I was told it won't recognize my number I submitted. It's our home phone. Same number for 30 years. Then I was told I have to have proof it's me and submit my phone billing records. Is this normal?? I entered my credit card information on a site. Later found out I was on the wrong site. I was charged $45.99, but never got my full refund for the mistake I made. The site is very misleading, cause it ask for your information and never tell you it is gonna charge you for this site. I just wanted a refund. I was on the wrong site. This could happen to anyone. Correctional facilities need to seriously review this company because they make it near on impossible for families to maintain contact with their loved ones. I have been going around in circles with GTL trying to add money to my account and it bounces back stating it is the wrong account number which it ISN'T! The account number was provided by this company and on several emails I have received from them. My bank even verified it, so really, what is going here?
It says something though when the company will only deal with international calls via email only AND it is impossible to reach them via social media also. I am sending a letter to the Governing bodies because correctional facilities state on many of their websites that they encourage inmates to maintain ties with family and friends. I set up an account assuming I would be able to add money for a phone account. I was charged 45.99 without agreeing to being charged. I tried to call the number on the website but they said they were too busy to take my call. I left a voicemail which was never returned. I emailed them and they responded with I agreed to their terms which I did not. They said they would only refund 31.00. When I told them they were a scam and that I would be disputing charge with my bank they blocked me from being able to access their website. This company is a scam. Be very careful. Today I made a phone call to the customer service in regards to a refund. As I was trying to explain to the customer service representative what my problem was he was very rude and not understating. He didn't really try to hear what the problem was and as I asked him if there was anyone I could speak to other than him he told me to hang up and call again. I already was on hold for 20 minutes and didn't see a point in waiting another 20 minutes just for someone to cancel the account I created. I then asked him what was his name and he said it was Clark but then again who knows.
I was not satisfied today even though it was my money to begin with. It's his job to listen to the customers and then assist, he did neither one. On top of that he didn't even close me out of the account which was his job. Clark was talking over me and trying to rush me off the phone. I hope no one has any encounters with this man because he doesn't understand what "Customer Service" really is or is about. I had spoken to another representative which was a young woman and she was very helpful and explained everything to me in a very welled manner but I didn't get her name.

Cannot add money to my account to send messages to my inmate. Used over 10 credits over 50 times on several different devices and browsers, and even over phone call and app. 100% declined. There is NOTHING wrong with my credit and debit cards, this site's payment processors are just garbage. I was trying to add money to my phone for a family member to call me. I made the mistake and created an account with this fraud of a company. I did not need this service. I thought I was creating an account with a different global company, the direct company that the jail uses. I tried to delete the account right away but they do not give you that choice. They charged me almost 50 bucks and would not give me my money back. It was a God honest mistake. Now I am out almost 50 bucks for crap that I never wanted or used.
This is a joke and anyone willing to work for a company that is ok with taking money from a single mom that made a mistake is low life, lower than dirt. I have never and will never use this service and I tell everyone I know not to. And how are they saving you money when they charge 50 bucks just to set up an account? They are charging you more than you would have to pay. You have to all that to set up an account then you have to pay for the calls as well? How are you saving any money at all? You're not. To ConnectNetwork GTL is a joke. They not only take more than a ridiculous amount of money for calls but they do not give refunds. They do not transfer funds to other numbers on your account and they do not do any kind of resolutions for any thing they've done wrong. They give you a runaround and tell you 7 to 10 business days. 30 business days later they open another ticket 'cause they accidentally closed your previous complaint. I call customer service and they said it was my provider, I call my provider they say it is nothing on their end so I call GTL back and they do nothing but give me the runaround. I ask for a refund and they tell me it will take 30 days for them to refund my money. This place is absolutely horrible. There needs to be legal actions taking against this company and what they are doing. Class action suit should be made for all those that are having similar issues.

One star too many to be honest! My husband is incarcerated at the Men’s Complex in Santa Ana Ca, a month and a half and never once an issue with calls. Christmas Eve comes and now they decide to take my payment yet NOT give the minutes for ya to talk?! It’s Christmas and I can’t even take my husband's calls. I thought I was crazy so I kept trying to put money just for the same thing to happen! $100 later I STILL CAN'T SPEAK TO HIM! Do they have any idea that they are causing severe depression for my husband, myself and our children? Talking to each other is the only thing that keeps all of us going. AND ON CHRISTMAS??? I am sickened by all of this. A lawsuit is definitely underway. Too many people having the same issue I see.

Global Tel has been wonderful. Prices are way lower than they were in the past. I enjoy conversations with my boyfriend because I do not have to worry about the cost of them. Sometimes we talk up to 8 or 9 times a day on my days off. However, the phone will hang up by mistake If it believes you are making a 3 way call. Which I do not do. But overall it has improved!

On December 11 2018 I deposited money on my son phone account. The money has not posted yet. A ticket has been filed to research my transaction. It is the holiday season. Really want to hear my son's voice. I've attempted to call 5 times to resolve my issue. All the representatives were very rude except 1. It's a coincidence they are removing the kiosk and now my money is missing. They said it could take several business days before they research my issue. I have a brother doing life in Michigan-City Ind. state prison. And was forced to start using JPay, for the past several years now. Charged $6.95 for every time I put money on his commissary, per their mandatory service. Video calls were horrible! I use to be able to send a Postal Money Order, with the cost of a stamp. They'll charge you for messages that weren't sent/posted (their AI message censor won't approve your message, but your account will be debited 25 cents anyway). They'll charge you for photos that weren't approved/posted. They'll charge you for changing your profile picture. $0.25 for a 500 character message. I paid for over 500 messages between myself and the inmate but after she was sentenced and transferred (GettingOut lists her as "RELEASED") I have only 3 messages from her that I can view/save and mine are nowhere to be found.
I didn't know her new "FREE" tablet was 5 cents a minute and based on info from GTL's website thought it was a monthly subscription service. If she had watched Lord of the Rings it would have cost around $12 at $3 an hour (I'm not against profit or recouping the cost of providing free tablets, installing kiosks etc... but this is ridiculous. I could have bought her a Microsoft Surface Tablet with what it cost me in 2 months and Telmate would still have made a profit providing a music, movie, game subscription service.). She was stuck in a nightmare jail so to ease her boredom I went against my gut feeling and paid the price. Didn't know why she was calling me so often asking for money.
Do yourself a favor and communicate through regular USPS letters with your jailed loved one and save yourself from a very bad experience. They won't even delete or cancel my account when I asked them to, because I paid for everything - gave them my money - followed the rules - so that I could have the privilege of serving them instead of the other way around which is the normal service industry business model.

The only reason I gave this company one star is because I had no option to leave zero stars. This company has the monopoly on inmate calling and we, the families are forced to subject ourselves to gouging in order to keep communication open with our family members. One phone call costs 8.00 in the same state. When I put 5.00 on my account so I can receive another call, this criminal enterprise charged me over 3.50 just for the transaction fee so actually I was left with 1.40 to add to my account.

These people are horrible. First, I made a deposit into my boyfriend's trust fund after he moved to a new jail in NY. After GTL took the payment, I called them to tell them the money wasn't there and they said "Oh, we don't service NY." So why did you take my money? Why didn't you update your system? Why was the jail available in the drop-down menu? Now they claim that the money went to the old jail and it was "gifted" to my boyfriend so I cannot be refunded and he has to physically go to the jail and get the money back himself. But my boyfriend IS IN JAIL. How can he go get the money? That is a scam alone, taking money and sending it to a jail that an inmate isn't even in anymore!
I told the lady that their system hasn't updated in 3 weeks, and she said "Oh, it takes a month." "No it doesn't, that's a straight up lie," and after I told her that I hung up the phone. The next day I log into my account and notice someone CHANGED MY NAME ON MY ACCOUNT from "Kelly" to "KELLY **, WE HAVE YOUR INFORMATION". Like what?? So this lady is threatening me? So I call them back and they claim 'No one on our end did that you must have been hacked." So I told them, "Listen, it says right on your website that no one on my end can change my name, I have to call customer service to change it. So I know it was you guys." The guy tried to hang up! I told him to let me talk to a supervisor who finally said she would have tech support find out who changed it.
Besides all that, now for the past week I've been trying to add money to my account for the phone and it declines my payment every time, but takes the money out of my account. I called my bank and they said the money was taken, but when I call GTL they claim the funds were not taken and to call my bank. The man was extremely rude and short with me. I tried it with a new card today through PayPal (both card I've used before) and it declined it AGAIN and took the money again! I haven't spoken to my boyfriend in a week because it keeps declining my payments and taking my money, and now I'm waiting for $60 in declined charges to be returned to me with no phone calls. These people are rude, no one knows what they're doing, they THREATENED ME. I mean I have a screenshot of my name changed, and they take your money and refuse to give it back. But they have us by the throats because we want to talk to our loved ones. Horrible people.

I signed up for this service so I could accept calls from my girlfriend. I paid 45 dollars and some change and was provided a special phone number. After being on hold for 18 minutes I finally spoke to a customer care person that I had a very hard time understanding... By far much more difficult than someone from India. Well anyway, I checked the reviews after I paid them. Hopefully you have checked these before you pay... Save yourself the hassle and money; dont use this company, find another.

I havent been able to receive calls from my man in jail for two weeks because every time he tries to call it says my line is busy. I contacted Global Tel*Link to look into the issue and they say they have fixed the issue and they have not! I've called at least 5 times and almost 3 weeks later I'm having the same issue. I wanted to add funds so an incarcerated loved one may call his uncle. Was told in order to add his number I must set up separate account. I did so using my credit card and email and name to do so. The uncle's phone was stolen and he can't be reached. I called to have the funds put into my main account, and rep was so rude. Got his supervisor who was worse. He was like a gestapo, not employee. (none of this behavior will be shocking to all users of this system) This is standard. He told me only the person to whom the phone is registered can call to have this done. I stressed that it is my name, my credit card, I have full access to this account online, but told NO. OPPORTUNITY TO STEAL !!!!
Next day the account has zero. I know with certainty it is in GTL's bank account. They will pay thousands to keep my $6 +. I will file every possible charge and complaint. Civil and hopefully criminal. This is being sent to CFP, AG Sessions and FTC. I WANT MY MONEY. HOW COME IT WENT TO ZERO OVERNIGHT.??? This is fraud and theft. I am so disgusted with this company and why this government allows this. The fight has just begun.

I put money on my love one account and GTL took my money and did not put it on the account and when I called them about the issue THEY said they didn't take it so I had to call my bank and my bank stated that GTL did take the money. I called GTL back and they stated they did not get the money however it is gone out of my bank account to GTL and they will not refund me my money back or put it on my account so I did call my bank back again. Had to get papers to show to send to GTL showing them that the money was taken out and not credited to my GTL account. I spoke to a representative and the representative at GTL was very rude and me. I am now in the process of going for a civil suit against GTL for this matter and this matter happened just this past Thursday September 13th 2018. My son is in a Calif facility. Haven't spoke to him in months. 1st: GTL froze my acct because it wasn't being utilized. My son couldn't use phone because of getting transferred and no privileges for 3 months. When he finally called, GTL stated no monies on my acct. I was furious. I knew I had over $25.00 on my acct. I called GTL and was informed of their policy if phone calls not utilized they freeze your acct (never was informed or received a call) on this. I had to get reinstated. I let them know how pissed off I was.
2nd: On 9/3/2018 my son tried calling me again (3 times) my phone never rang on 2 of the calls and on the 3rd try I answered so excited and my happy was destroyed again (phone call got disconnected) after I heard his voice. I'm crying frustrated and angry. Called them again with another complaint to someone with broken English. Couldn't find their corporate office to put my grievance on the table so I'm doing it thru this service. GTL is crooked. Don't think there is another service to go thru other than GTL but I'm going to try. So FURIOUS.

I made a payment of $50 online and I found out that this was the wrong company, I sent email messages and calling requesting my money back and knowing that they are going to keep $14 for nothing. But it's ok. Until now, nobody has returned my calls, my email messages and every time I call I keep getting a very unpleasant message. I was able to get online one time and they said that I was going to received an email with in 48 hrs. It's being like a week and I still has not received anything. I will be writing a complaint to the FCC in Boca Raton, FL about this company.

Unfortunately my son has broken laws, and is paying his debt to society, but unfortunately there are those who scam you while in despair. Meaning when you Google what services to use for inmate calling, you are redirected to this site, assuming that it would be authentic because it's thru the prison look up. So you eagerly apply, for services to enable a word from those you love whom are locked away. They thrive on your ambitious need to be in touch with those you love. Costing 45.99 for a service that isn't even compatible with the prison phone services. So lucky you, "So you thought," it's held for five days. Giving you that time to cancel, again so you thought.
They do in fact cancel your services but will hold on to 14.99 for services of swindling your money from your account, for all that work to scam you, again unfortunately it's in the very very small out of the way print, "you had", a win win for them, and if you catch on? A little less taken from you. I'm on disability, and have a very meager income, not even enough to properly survive. So please be careful when being redirected from the NH state prison for men, relating to inmate calling and phone services. The correct service is Global Tek, so you see how close this scamming entity named their site, being Global Tel, to easily scam you. Look out, beware they are there.

Called the company to obtain a refund from this company for payment. I spoke with Sergio, who hung up on me, Debbie who was rude, and locked my phone number from being able to call and inquire on other opinions, now I had to obtain new number info and spoke with **, Danish’s who said she was noting a supervisor call back. Finally called back talked to Barbara who clearly knows customer service. It’s unfortunate that our Family members are incarcerated and have to deal with rude unprofessional people that have your money. How many customers have they took $20 or more away from? I work hard for my money just like everyone else. Giving this company free money is not acceptable, please beware of this company. BEWARE!!!

Today was my first day using GTL phone service, my son is incarcerated and I was charged $3.54 each call. Why so much and it was even 15 min. I'm not doing this anymore after this money is gone off my card. RIPOFF!!

While trying to add funds to my son's inmate phone account with a service called Global Tel*Link a website came up called Global Tel Inmate Calling. I thought it was the correct service so I started to create an account. It asked for my credit card information before it even asked his name or what facility he was in. My younger son said, "Look they let you take a picture of your card and they autofill it in for you". Within seconds I got a confirmation email saying I just bought 30.00 worth of postcards. I never pressed purchase and didn't even finish setting up the account. I tried calling the number on the website it said it was to busy to take my calls.
I tried texting back to the number that had text me and it doesn't accept texts. I called back and was able to leave an email address for them to contact me. I guess they say by taking a picture of my card I agreed to all their terms. I was on their website in the first place because they set it up that way. They chose a name that was almost exactly like Global Tel*Link to get people who are trying to stay in touch with their incarceration loved ones. They will refund your money except for the 14.99 restocking fee. Which is half the money they had no right to take in the first place and dozens of people are doing this a day. The website should be shut down.

Did not sign up for their service, got an email that I had, called their number and they refused to give me money they took and had to process a $14.99 (per their policy) to cancel. I repeatedly explained I did not sign up for them, but did no avail. HORRIBLE company & outsource to people who have strong accents and bad phone connections. Yuck!

GTL loves your money and will reassure you that their rates are affordable. Unfortunately, my incarcerated loved one only has this telephone service to go through for his outbound calls. There is no other option, unless you choose not to talk at all - which for many of us not an option. I am billed for the collect call and having a long distance telephone number as well as tax when funds are put onto advanced pay account. I have put a total of 60.00 dollars in a three week period, equaling 4 (2 days if used one 15 minute in morning and at night), 15 minute phone calls.
The price of this service is so expensive for anyone’s situation and unreliable when asked repeatedly about what they charge for local calls compared to long distant ones and for taxes! It’s hard to stay connected with your loved one in a reasonable amount of time, and "You have one minute remaining" comes quickly! If you have an option to choose another service and have a local telephone number I would suggest this option over GTL.

This company is a rip off! They ask you to sign up, but don't tell you that they will charge you $45.99 without showing you prices or asking for you to submit the charges! There is a box to the right, showing services but it asks you to sign in. So you think you have to sign in to get charged etc. No they charge you $45.99 without showing you any numbers. Then they want to refund you, everything but $14.99. I looked for cancellation places, there are none. A very confusing website, purposely to confuse you and get your money.

Phone rates are 3.00 per 20 minute call in Oklahoma plus .80 tax. Most of the phones are damaged and inmates can't call to use those funds, however if they don't use them GTL will steal them from your account for inactivity, as they did my 30.00 in MARCH 2018. Several of the inmate phones at the William Key unit in Ft Supply OK, do not work, making it too hard for an inmate to call because of long lines. I'd like to see a class action lawsuit on GTL for stealing funds from accounts as they did mine.

This is the worst company ever to start off. You have to pay 25$ to 100$. Damn I put 25$ for what - I got 2 calls. 1 was for the full 20 mins, the other one was like 3 mins and during that call it claimed I only had 2$ and some change. I was like, wait 25$ and only got to talk to him 2 times. ** babe needs to get back to the town or Collin county where I put 23$ with another phone company and talked 3 time and still have 9$ left before he got moved to Wichita Falls TX. I won't buy no more phone mins with this damn. Cheat you out of every dollar you have. Phone company (GTL is a straight up scam) plus can’t even view your account like with others.

This is my 1st experience with this whole thing so I signed up for Global Tel services yesterday & tried to get refunded today due to them not being straight up about how their services work so they took $14.99 for a nonrefundable fee! You're paying $45 to establish a # that's suppose to give you a discounted rate but funds still have to be added in order to gain phone calls from an inmate (they don't explain that). So basically you're paying for & phone # & still adding funds for the calls!!! This company don't explain everything on the video or site.

I just began using GTL (Global Tel*Link) in Dec 2017. First I had issues signing into my acct. right off the bat. Apparently I had "an invisible character" aka a space, after my log in name. The customer service rep was nice enough and explained when I sign in I need to make sure I add that space after my log in name. Slightly annoying, but whatever. But recently when my boyfriend calls and I press "0" to connect the call it doesn't register. This is happening more and more, and today I missed the call entirely! I think I hit 0 like 6 times and then the recording said my call couldn't be connected and hung up on me. On previous occasions I would press 0 maybe 3 times at the most. Now I'm concerned I will keep missing calls because of this.
I am glad others have written reviews about this issue and now I know it's not on my end. Sounds like GTL needs to get their act together. Their services directly affect people's lives and for those of us who have a loved one incarcerated it is hard enough without adding the aggravation of missed calls when they could've been prevented. I will attempt to call customer service if it happens again, but from reading other posts it sounds like that will get me nowhere. What a shame this is the only company available for phone communication in my area.

Global Tel*Link/ConnectNetwork is probably one of the worst providers of a service I have ever had to deal with. The employees are inept at best and the website is always broken. Anytime you send an email you receive an auto reply saying "Thank you for contacting ConnectNetwork! We will be in touch with you shortly." Don't bet on it. I called to see if I could have them put some money on an inmate's pin for me and they told me that they could not and that I had to either use the website, or the automated system to do that, but that he could put money on my phone if I wanted. I figured why not and had him put $50 on my phone. I thanked him for this time and hung up.
I made my way to the website (which I had used in the past without issue) to add money to an inmate's account which consists of a four step process. I selected to make a deposit of $100 and pressed enter. The screen loaded for a moment and then sent me back to the previous step stating that either my card information was incorrect or I had inefficient funds etc. I checked the information and everything checked out and I had plenty of money in my account. I added the amount again and pressed next. Again it sent me back. I repeated the same steps and (surprise!) got the same result. I call customer service and was told there was an issue with my card, but I could try the automated system if I thought that the website was the issue. I tried to add $50 via the automated service and again my card was declined.
I called my bank and asked them if there was something wrong with my card. They said everything was fine and that my payments had cleared and that I was just waiting on GTL to accept the payments. At this point I was livid. I add $350 dollars floating in limbo. I never even reached the step payment confirmation. This goes on for days and eventually I'm told by the stellar customer service that my card was blocked because I attempted to exceed the amount of money allowed for deposit on an inmate's pin-debit. Come to find out there is a $200 limit that can be added to an inmate's pin per month, due to security reasons (which is not posted) and I had tried to add money two day too soon.
So I put more money on my phone, with added fees of course and wait the two days. I call and have them verify that I can add more money the guy says yes. I keep him on the phone since I knew something would go wrong and guess what, my username and email don't exist anymore. The guy tells me that they are in the system and he has me verify everything. Still nothing works. He directs me to a location on the website and has me send an email reporting the problem. I type in what he tells me to and repeat the information. He then directs me to submit it and I do. I immediately receive an email saying, "Thank you for contacting ConnectNetwork! We will be in touch with you shortly." I wait, checking my email throughout the night and in the morning when I woke up, but I still had not received a followup email. I sent a followup email of my own and received the same, we'll be in touch message.
I eventually received this: "Thank you for contacting the Connect Network team. For payment information, funds transfers, refunds, account ownership, missing payments and all other account inquiries please contact customer service over the phone at 18776504249. Please manually perform this procedure by pressing the "Forgot your Password?" link on the "Sign In" page of ConnectNetwork.com if you can remember your userID. If you cannot remember this information, please select " Forgot your username " and follow the prompts. For security purposes we are not able to reset the account on your behalf."
So basically their solution is to call customer service, which has done a bang up job so far, or use the website which is broken seeing is that it doesn't even recognize that my account even exists. So I try the automated system today (website is still ** at the moment) and it works. I make two separate payments of $50 with a $3 fee each as opposed to the one payment with one fee I could've made online. Still can't access the website and I was told that a ticket has been submitted and that it would take 3 to 5 business days for a response. This has already been going on for a week. I don't know if my account has been locked (no one tells you anything) because of the pin limit, or if the website is messed up. From all the other customer complaints pertaining to website issues I'm more inclined to assume the latter.
The level of incompetence with company is astounding. No one knows what they are doing and they keep vital information (deposit limitations etc.) from their consumers, which leaves them confused and in the dark. I don't know why they allow a business that cannot function properly to have a monopoly on communications with correctional facilities. The consumers are at the whims of a company that is infamous for poor customer service, high level of incompetence and a website that's functionality is so sporadic, it might as well be broken and yet no one does anything. I actually thought to myself while writing this if I'm wasting my time. There have been numerous complaints on this website and others dating back for years and but this company still has dominance over the consumers. We are still forced to tolerate an epic level of fail if we want our love ones to have funds on their pin for phone calls.
Could I restrict my love one to only calling me? Yes, but the cost of calls to my phone vs ones made with an inmate pin is considerable and not cost efficient. They restrict inmate pins to $200 because they want you to put money on your phone because it costs more due to fees and per minute/call. Don't believe? Put $50 on your phone and see how long it lasts vs an inmate pin debit account.

Global Tel advertised a jail telephone service and misrepresented their capabilities. They provide a list of jails they service but don't describe the limitations. I paid $50 for phone service to a specific jail only to find out that they only provide postcard service and that another company is the only one allowed to service the jail I was trying to use. When I called to get my money back they said that I read the terms of service and that it was my fault.

I called the automated system to put money on my phone. I added 10 dollars and used my saved debit card and the system said it couldn’t process and transferred me to a representative. When the representative answered she was talking so fast. I couldn’t understand half of what she was saying. I eventually got that my bank supposedly declined the transaction but I checked my account while I was waiting for a representative to come in the line and saw that the transaction was processing. If it had been declined by my bank there would be no charge on my card at all, but anyway I called my bank and they told the charge had went through as I expected so I called back and I spoke to another representative who also told me again my bank declined it.
So I asked to speak to a manager because my bank said they didn’t not decline anything. When I finally talked to the manager before she even got to my problem she went on to explain that If I was going to use multiple cards to fund my account within 30 days I would need to call in. My loved one has been incarcerated for 2 years. I have always used multiple cards and never had a problem. She also told me about a 500 dollar a month limit and at this point I’m trying to figure out what any of this has to do with why my bank would supposedly decline the transaction.
She says to me,"Your bank didn’t decline the transaction. GTL did". So why didn’t the other two representative know GTL’s system declined because of a system failure. Why did they give me incorrect information?? So now the only solution I was given was try again and send in my statement showing the completed transaction. SMH. So now I’m skeptical about making another transaction with my card for fear of their system kicking it back again but charging my card anyways. GTL needs to train their representatives better and make sure they don’t give incorrect information and make sure you don’t make sure you don’t make assumptions about customers!

We have been using this service for over 2 years, always used high amounts of money for 2 relatives. Whenever we have an issue it's always told it's our fault when clearly it's their fault and their system, our last reasoning was blaming our end by saying it was too much chargeback and we can use Western Union when they were taking the money without authorization over 80 and we're credited 20 back and that didn't cover our 19 dollar charge. I feel they have no respect and no compassion for families, and a business like this where you're talking to your family in the system should not be ran like this. We will stand with anyone who wants to take further action.

I had gone to Global Tel*Link to set up an account. It never notified me or asked permission to charge my account 45 dollars. It is near impossible to email these people due to the fact it comes back as email not sent. After I was told I would receive a refund of only 30 dollars because the “fee” of 14.99 was non refundable I still haven't seen a refund from these people! They have poor customer service. It should not take over a week and numerous failed attempts and ignored messages to get a response. Please save yourself the trouble and frustration and just go somewhere else!

My experience with this company is that they are charging families too much for local calls within the county to take advantage of families of the incarcerated. If the prisoner is nearby why is the call cost so much. Unfair!

I confirm what William **, KS said he experienced. There is a pre-planned intentional setup to debit your credit card and THEN they create problems logging in. As soon as you do access the site (finally as a logged in member) it automatically swipes your card that you were prompted to enter before the sign-in trouble starts. Everything happens so fast. You are charged before you have even glanced at prices, plans, and terms. Immediately, my card was charged $ 45.99. Upon objecting, I was told that it boldly stated it was a "special" that was clearly obvious and that I agreed to the terms. Finally, they say they are going to issue a refund minus a "non-refundable $14.99. How generous of these crooks!!

In December I had set up my IC Solutions account so that my brother could call me, it is now nearly March and I've yet to speak with him on the phone account that I still have the $25 on that I set it up with. Every time he tries to call I get a recording asking me if I want to accept a collect call press 5 so when I press 5 it then says that I am being transferred to a IC Solutions specialist so that I can set up a account! When I explain to the specialist the situation they pull up the account and see the $25 on it but have absolutely NO IDEA why it's not connecting and ask me if it's possible that I might have a block on my phone?? Umm... NO!
So then they say that they will but I'm a request for "whomever" to look into it and that it may take up to three days! I just don't understand what is so hard. I paid for a service from your company so just connect me! There was no issues at all when you took the money from me... Not one! So now you got paid and I can't even speak to my brother still after three months! Just move on to the next person and take their money! It's hard enough for families to have to miss and be without their loved ones so now you made it that we can't speak with them as well! Thank you IC Solutions! Karma's a **! Then I get a phone call with a recording saying my phone is blocked. My brother has been in the Monmouth County jail in NJ for two weeks and we still can’t get calls from him. On top of that, you can only make a couple calls for $50? This place is ripping people off.

I'm a reasonable person. I understand there are issues occurring which you have to call to correct occasionally. I've tried to resolve issues with this company repeatedly. A month is too long to resolve an issue. They have a "sister" company which every issue it's the other company's issue. Value Added Communication is the sister company which is as bad as ConnectNetwork Services. The entire time inmate transferred to the Atlanta facility I have not been able to get calls from him. He is transferred again and still issues. They are "sister" companies but share one website which has one number. They don't answer their emails and wait time for calls is too long. Today they said they corrected the issue. We will see.
Why have one website with a phone number that can't help you? Why share a website?? I do not know what government department contracted with this ridiculously bad customer service oriented company but they need to CHANGE providers! During this interesting judicial process inmate has been relocated within the local counties several times and I've had one non family person I felt sorry for so I allowed calls from that person, NEVER once had an issue with those providers. A bit aggravating due to each facility having a different provider but even with the changes I received every call from inmates.
As a note: The inmate is incarcerated due to their wrongdoing. WE outside nice enough to "support" those people SHOULD NOT be made to waste our valuable time trying to work out RIDICULOUS issues just to get a phone call. Trying to correct stupidity take one away from their paying employment! The department responsible for signing on to this company should be made aware of such extremely horrible service!!! They have no issue taking your money by phone, but then you have to "find" it later because since it was paid over the phone it's not linked to your account!!! What is up with that???

My husband is incarcerated and for months now he is unable to get through... My number has no block on it nor does the prison have it blocked. Even after as many as 20 times trying to get through only for call to say I didn't accept it, after on a regular basis endless attempts to get through we maybe get one phoned call every few days. With things already emotionally tough him being away, the stress and the fact it's almost impossible to talk to him is ridiculous and totally unjust and totally wrong. I've called my phone company also and they told me it's not them. It's the company GTL.
This just seems there should be accountability held for what it causes us to go through emotionally. Mostly because no money can account for or make up for the added stress to a loved one already locked up and the fact that there could be any kinda of emergency going on and as I sit every morning at 7 am and after 5 pm praying he gets through the feeling of not hearing from them after phone times are off is without words, I don't know what or how they can conduct a business like this and still be operating. My child was hit by a car and totaled out.
Thank God she is ok but when I know he's trying his hardest it's like added punishment to ones already being so and as I'm also on my end making sure my phone is clear. Not online. Making sure I do everything I can do on my end is good and even giving up meals or canteen or standing in lines for hours trying countless times to get through and doesn't... I can't put into words what it puts us both through. They deserve to and at least while being locked up which doesn't make them nobody or be treated as this is not a serious issue because they're incarcerated so they must be bad people or something because these phone calls to the outside to family and friends is not only a right but on a bad day in there can play a big part in situations they deal with daily.
I'm sure as I feel I'm sure most would feel the same.The last thing they need is stress from not getting that simple phone call to a loved one that could actually make or break their day. It's very beneficial to these guys to be able to hear positive things outside prison or for a loved one to be able help keep them focused on their toughest days and not let other inmates get to them causing more punishments. Sorry this is so long and may seem I'm overdoing it but me personally I just know it is absolutely 1 the most important things for these guys to simply call home without this company making it harder and more stressful on any of us. I thought it was just me for a long time doing something wrong until I came across this page.
I'm sorry for all your situations and definitely know what you're going through and after reading this something must be done. I can't believe all these stories and plus what I've gone through and it's just continuing. When is someone going to do something and if there's any suggestions how to move the process faster Id like to know and do whatever I can.

It's a bunch of **!!!They are frauds!!! They advertise like it was the best thing going and once you pay for it, here comes all this crap you didn't know applied. Like... a new local number. Didn't want one nor did I need one. Now the facility has my real # blocked until this issue is settled but how do I notify my husband of a new # when he can't even call? This company is deceiving they are on the Global Tel*Link website posing as them. They took $45 that I can't account for and won't be able to get back. The numbers on the website do not work and they took my money immediately but my bank is telling me I can't get it back until it's done pending. Something told me to look them up because the customer service rep at the real Global Tel*Link said this is an often occurrence. So I asked how is it that they can be on their website if they are not affiliated with them... no answer. I feel like it's a big Ponzi scheme for people who already don't have trying to get in touch with their loved ones in already bad situations which is sad. If there's a lawsuit I wish to participate because the actions are unjust.

GTL/Telemate is charging outrageous fees for adding money to inmate account. I'm sorry, I can understand collecting a fee to add money to an inmate's account, but, paying over $11 to add $60 to an account is what I would call money gouging. They are making millions and of course they have to give the jails their kickback. This is almost criminal to charge that much. I wouldn't complain if it was a $5.00 flat fee, but not only they charge fee for that, you have to do communication and commissary on different accounts so they are double screwing you on fees. They are making money off of criminals, yet what they are charging is what I call criminal actions.

While setting up the 90 service plan, I was kicked off with them saying the username was already taken. Next thing I know, the credit card was charged. It took 4 days and numerous emails (no one answered the phone number given) with the customer service reps sending my information that lead to a dead end every time. Finally I just asked the inmate to call the number I was given and it went right through. Then I received an email from them remarking that I was finally able to figure it out. I wrote back and stated I wish they would have just told me everything was working and fine now and it is sad no one knows what to do or how to check on the problem.
NOW when a call comes in from the prison, I am receiving a voice message that my funds are low and it has only been 14 days with about 4 to 6 calls. Again, I am going back and forth with Customer Service and again, they keep telling me I am doing it wrong. Yesterday I sent an email showing that I am using the number they issued to me and asked again to tell me why the voicemail is saying I am low on funds. Today I received an email message that they looked and I am using the number so they don't know what the problem is. It is hopeless to get anything done with this Customer Service.

I deposited money to the inmate trust fund using GTL for an inmate in Ventura County Jail. He never received the money. I called customer service and emailed them and they have yet to do anything. Does not even deserve 1 star!!! Most forms that you fill out on the internet will require you to check the box that you have read their terms and conditions before they accept your application. I never even saw a box to check. When I went back, I noticed that there was indeed a box, but it was automatically checked. I was just trying to inquire about the service and was not warned that my credit card would be charged immediately. When I called to have it credited, I was told that it would be credited minus $9.99, as per their policy. So I lost $10 for nothing! And I called within less than 5 minutes after it was charged. And it was not even the company I wanted to use! They are very deceiving with how they advertise and how they operate. They stole $10 from me! Do not use this company! They are a fraud!

I use to think Verizon had the world’s worst customer service until I called here to try and give them money actually. Wow, yeah actually pay them to treat me like an idiot. The person on the phone rumbled their name so bad you couldn't even make it out first off. When asking to speak to his supervisor because he had zero clue what was going on, he blew me off. All around worst service I've come across, if you can find another way to pre-pay your phone do it by all means because giving this company even 1¢ is way too much. They don't deserve it at all.

Global Tel Link or Gtl has been telling me that my refund was issued. I have not got my refund in over 3 months. This is the second time that I requested a refund. The first time they told me it would take 30 (yes 30 business days) not regular days. After waiting 30 business days I called them back. I was told that the refund has been issued over a week ago. After calling them back, they told me that I would have to send them my bank statement to assure them that I didn't get the money yet. I told them I would have to be an idiot to send them a copy of my personal banking information. They said that is the only way to make sure I didn't have the money yet. I kindly told them to keep the money and that I would not be doing any business with them again. I don't know if there is any other way to make calls but if you can, make small deposits or avoid this company by any means.

When I try to add money to my account they tell me that my card isn't accepted only to still take the money from my card. When I call to tell them that the money was taken they say give it 2-3 business days and they'll put the money back on my card. But they never do. They are complete frauds that steal your money with horrible customer service. If I could give no stars I would. Global Tel Link is a disgusting company. BEWARE!!!

I have a loved one in Manassas VA jail. I received first 3 free calls they normally give inmates. NOT ONE CALL GAVE ME THE OPTION TO ANSWER. The inmate lost all 3 free calls. But during the calls the automated systems stated to select an option to setup an account. So is this a sales maneuver? Why not just let us have an option to answer one of the free calls? So after 3 unanswerable calls... you must call Global Tel*Link to pay for minutes for inmate... service fee of 4.**,... and on top of that each call the inmate makes is taxed. By the time you put 10.00 on the account... the inmate will maybe have 3.00 to make calls with.
IMPORTANT! When you pay on the account the automated system takes your card info but never discloses to you THE TOTAL AMOUNT you're about to pay. So you don't know how much the inmate will be able to have access to until after transaction. When you see how much was charged and request a refund due to their nondisclosure... Global Tel*Link will take 30 days to refund you your money. Why? It's 2017. Electronically you can put the money back. It will take 30 days for the company greed to subside.

So, my brother is in jail at the moment. He told me to make an account so he can call me and my parents faster, and so I did. 2 days ago I made a GTL account, I added $30 on my account for advance pay phone service. My brother tried to call me several time starting from yesterday, every time that happened an Automated Advance payment phone number will call me stating that someone from a facility tried to call me but couldn't get through due to "Billing problems". I am confused because on my account, there is $30. I do feel like I am being ripped off. I sent an email form yesterday to GTL, they said they will get back to me shortly.
Now it's tomorrow, I CALLED AND WAITED FOR A SOLID 30 MINUTES TO SPEAK TO A REPRESENTATIVE, AND NO ONE BOTHERED TO ANSWER! I am beyond pissed because there is no way I will be able to get my $30 back. This is so urgent, and customer service wouldn't pick up the phone! I wish I could leave it at NO STARS, GTL does not deserve any stars at all!

I've been using their services for 4 months now and calls would drop after 4-5 mins of talking and they would charge for the whole 20 mins. When I call customer service they have horrible customer service skills, they speak like they didn't graduate the 4th grade and they LIE. They say the same scripted thing every time and tell you there is no way they can help. I asked them to mail me my call log and they said they will... haven't received one yet. Now, going on 5 months, my payment for GTL calls is $325!!! I've been making the same amount of calls a month for the past 4 months and my account has always been under $150. Not it's $325!!! They are crooks!! I'm joining the FB group mentioned for a class action suite as well. I've been keeping track of minutes and recording phones calls for the past few months. Thieves!!!! These guys are about to go down.

I paid $50.00 to have funds put on my husband's inmate phone account ($47.00 for phone service and $3.00 for service fee). GTL assured me that they received payment, yet my husband DID NOT receive this money. GTL further informed me that if I filed a dispute with VISA they would forever ban me from using phone services from GTL to any inmate. I will be forwarding all information and resolution to the Governor of the State of South Dakota and the Warden at Mike Durfee State Prison. There are other people who have lost money with GTL and were told they were out of luck, that if they disputed their loss that they would also be banned from ever purchasing funds for their loved ones phone access.
I paid GTL in good faith for services they didn't provide. GTL admitted they received the funds, and I verified that they were indeed taken from my bank account, yet GTL did not forward the money to my husband's inmate phone account so he could make calls to family and friends. GTL advised me that this wasn't their problem. Although, I can afford to "lose" the $50.00, I know several other people who have loved ones serving time that can't afford this loss. One woman lost $30.00 the same day I lost my $50.00. She struggles to come up with money to speak to her husband, and this was a major blow to their family emotionally.

I signed up for an account. I paid for calls. When the calls came in there was no way to answer. I was given an option to buy 15 minutes of time for 10 dollars. I even tried paying this extra fee but it didn't work. This happened several times before I finally gave up and called the customer service where I prepaid. They told me there was a block placed on my account because someone had called them. They were very vague about who. They told me the date this occurred. It was the same day I paid for service. The agent began raising his voice as I asked to clarify how to prevent this from happening again. I don't believe there's an alternative company to be able to call my brother but I think this company has made a mistake placing a block rather than starting my service. They will not take responsibility, attempted to blame me for this. If anyone can read this and can do something I would appreciate it. Thank you!

My son is in prison and when it was time to set up phone calls I went to reviews about GTL and what I read was terrible. Honestly, I don't think I read one good review. Consequently, I did not set up phone contact for several years. Resulting in shoe boxes full of letters. I opened a prepay account with GTL and to my surprise it was easy, affordable, and I can deposit from $1 to $100 and there is no charge to do so.
I'm not sure what it amounts to per minute or per call. I pay $50 a month and Johnny calls several times a week. Some days he calls several times a day. GTL has been great for me. Never a hassle. Never a delay in funds being added to my account. The one thing anyone considering using GTL, don't pay any offers of paying less by signing up with someone else and paying $30 extra for a service you don't need. Call GTL. The call handlers are very nice and so helpful. Please don't do what I did and not set up contact to your loved one. GTL IS GREAT.

Too expensive compared to other companies, then sometimes get charged for not even completing a call or if you don't get to answer money still gets took away. Overall it's just horrible and a waste of money sadly.

So I have spent 100 of dollars with these people only to talk to my loved one who's incarcerated. Only for these people to take my money then be told there's nothing they can do. They are not fair listed. They took money from my account and didn't apply my phone credit.

Ok so on my account that I have to log in with a USERNAME and PASSWORD. I had 2 different numbers on there that had money on them that I wanted transferred to my present number. The first number was my boyfriend's dad's number in which I had deposited money on there so they could talk. And the other number was a previous number of mine. His dad's number had $7.07 on it that I wanted to transfer to my present number. So I went on the website and transferred it on March 9th... It's been weeks and still hasn't shown up on my new number. So I call customer service to ask about this. They say to me, "since you don't own that number, you don't have the permission to transfer that money." The person who owns that number (my boyfriend's father) has to call and say he wants it transferred.
This angered me because why does it matter if it's his number? It's on my ConnectNetwork account that I have to log in to? I deposited the money, not his dad!!! Okay so then I move on from that and I ask the guy if I could please transfer the $10.00 that was on the other number to my present number. He makes me confirm my address and the last 4 digits of the card I used to make the deposit... I confirm with him. He says okay the amount of 10.00 will be transferred and then I tell him, "Ok and then can you please just close that account as that number is no longer in service." Well this was last Thursday and I still don't see that the $10.00 has been transferred but I do see that they closed the account for that number. Just very frustrating. Where is my money!!!

I have a friend who is incarcerated in an US correction facility and since they have changed their service provider from JPay to GTL there hasn't been nothing but issues. I live in Europe and GTL will NOT accept foreign credit cards like visa and master card so I have to communicate with advanced pay on email and this woman is so rude to me!!! Their homepage is so old fashioned and don't take foreign credit cards. So I ask this woman how to trust fund my friend and this I can't do. I am only allowed to put money on my phone so GTL can make money on me!!! It's so frustrating. I sure hope no one from Europe are friends with incarcerated people in the states who changed from JPay (very good btw) to GTL!!! It's the most rude company I have ever experienced!!!

Canceled this account over a year ago. I've had to file multiple complaints with my bank. Now they have had to issue me a new card as I keep getting billed. They also use the name GLOBALTELL LLC and SECURUSTECH LLC to charge the same amount. Sometimes twice in the same day. Always the same amount, $34.18, but sometimes different names. Check your credit card account closely for these charges.

I recently tried to add funds to my account so that I could speak with my loved one in the local jail. Their website was not working for a few days so I finally downloaded their app and tried to add funds that way. I initiated the payment and TWICE received a "request timed out" message. On the third attempt, the payment went through. I checked my bank account and sure enough GTL had charged me three times!!
I called the company where the customer service representative admitted they were having network issues. When I asked for a refund on two of the three payments, they informed me that I could not do that without closing the account entirely, which means my loved one would not be able to call me at all. I stated that for me... it was okay to have been charged, it didn't overdraft my account and it isn't going to cause me to not be able to afford bills but for so many people, I know their reality is different.
This company is criminal through and through. Stealing people's money while trying to say they offer services. YOU MAKE MONEY OFF OF PEOPLE'S WORST AND LOWEST MOMENTS! I told the representative that I hoped they paid him well because he works for a criminal enterprise where he then referred to me using a curse word and hung up. THANKFULLY I contacted my bank who reached out to this company themselves, filed a complaint with the BBB and have started the refund process on their own. Shame on you GTL... shame shame shame. I don't know how your leaders sleep at night knowing the harm your company causes. Lower than cockroaches.

I paid $74 on 11/16 to be able to speak to my son in jail. He has yet to get through on my phone. I disputed the charge and they had the nerve to contest my dispute stating I received services! Never! Nothing! I will get my money back. And a class action suit is in order for this group. I have noticed several are interested in joining. It is not the amount of money. don't care if you paid $5. It is the corruption and dishonesty that is running amok. My ultimate goal is dissolve the company so they can no longer commit fraud.

They charge an arm and a leg for phone calls only to have their cheap and malfunctioning automated system kill the call saying it wasn't accepted but yet I wasn't the one who called! I have documented evidence that I am not the only one this is happening to. Every time I call in, I have to wait on hold just to get a very rude so called "customer service rep" on the phone to reset my account. They point the finger at a cell phone company and tell me to get a land line. Well, I got news for them. Land lines do the same crap and why should I have to go through the expense of installing a land line AND pay the asinine prices they charge for calls.
No other company I do business with that has an automated system has any issues with my phone or service. These include my bank, my mortgage company, my electric company, my cable company. These people prey on the families of loved ones who are incarcerated and put these stupid little disclaimers about how they can't guarantee call quality, and cell phones are at own risk. **! It's another excuse to not fix their malfunctioning system! I am going to every media outlet I can find with this and am consulting an attorney. This is ridiculous.

Today while talking to my friend in a local jail we were disconnected not once but twice. The system stated that the call was being terminated due to three way calling. I do not use three way calling period. Then I proceed to call to complain and the automated services tells me to press the 1 if I am a family member or friend. I do so and it tells me that I made the wrong selection over and over again. I feel that this is really ridiculous. This is the only way we can stay connected to our loved ones, family and friends. Something needs to be do and these issues resolve!

I registered with GTL. The first call I got cost me $16 for ten minute call 35 miles away same area code. Completely dishonest and thievery. I deposited $20 dollars on account, have received two calls and account is empty, tell me that isn't a thief, and when you try to contact someone all you get is recorded answers and says "you are in a queue" to talk to someone then a message comes on and says ring back as there is too big a wait time then you are terminated. This is a dishonest and disgusting thieving company. Only hope you have a friend inside and are trying to contact.

This company steals money from inmates families but charging 3.00 to add money to the account and then charge anywhere from 0.22-0.32 in tax per call along with the 0.05 cents per minute. After adding all of that up from my last deposit I still was $6.66 short from the calls that was received. Instead of customer service trying to fix the situation one guy named Sergio told me that I'm not right and that I used all of my minutes. He also threatened to hang up, so I asked to speak to a supervisor whom never came to the phone. So I called back and spoke with a different representative whom did not want to go through the calls and hung up on me after he asked me do I have a calculator. It's horrible how they steal from you and refuse to give the consumer their money back.

So I put money on my phone account December 8 so I could receive prepaid calls from the correctional facility. GTL put the funds on wrong account Called GTL on December 10th because I could not receive calls from the facility due to NO funds. Said they would have my account correct in 24-72 hours. Called again December 14, they still haven't fixed problem. Today December 18th still can't receive calls. They told me to call back tomorrow. They charge a service fee when you put funds on. Asked for fee back due to the kind of service I haven't received, can't receive calls and won't compensate in any way. Very poor service from GTL.

I have never used Global-Tel services. I used Global-Tel link services and put $25 on to receive collect calls from jail. I only used it to receive one collect call and was done. I didn't accept any other collect calls. I should still have a balance owed to me from Global-Tel link. Now, if you noticed there is Global-Tel and Global-Tel link. They say they are separate companies. Although, somehow, unbeknownst to me Global-Tel started taking $29.99 out of my account using my bank debit card! If Global-Tel link claims they are separate from Global-Tel, then how in the world did Global-Tel get my bank card info? Either way I Never authorized anyone to take monthly charges out of my account!
In total Global-Tel took out 89.97 from my account. Because of that I incurred NSF fees with my Bank! I find this debacle Completely Unethical!! I simply put $25 on my phone with Global-Tel link not even expecting to use it all, so why would I say it was ok to take out $29.99 a month? I believe the whole thing was a scam to begin with! Shame on these 2 companies working together to take money from Good People who are pretty much clueless to this Collect phone call industry!! I truly hope someone looks into this problem so it doesn't happen to anyone else!!

I have been a user of Global Tel*Link for approximately 7 months now. Believe me if there were another company that could be used I would jump all over it. Global Tel*Link has the lousiest customer service I have ever encountered. I recently deposited money onto the wrong phone number, since both numbers are on my account I assumed that the funds could be transferred internally to my other telephone account. I was told that they only provide that service one time, in the same breath the representative said that they could not transfer the funds that they could only be refunded which takes 30 business days. In all my life of doing business with thousands of companies I have never heard of a company holding your money for a period of 30 business days. This is totally unethical and I am seriously considering trying to band a few Global Tel*Link customers together to see if we have grounds for a class action lawsuit.

I have been using GTL for five years. One day they charged my card and twice and never funded my account, in order for me to received calls. I called into GTL, hoping they can fix the problem. They didn't, so I had to call my bank for a dispute. When I tried to add funds, it wasn't taking my payment. To make a long story short, the teller explained, I am no longer able to use their company due to my dispute. I have to use Western Union. Tried using Western Union, that wasn't going through for some odd reason of GLT. Call back into GTL, for 8 time in one night. The last representative directed me to another site.
I have been using Inmate Connect Network for 3 months. No issues. Now months late, I tried to add my funds the website rejected it, but yet I was fully charged, but my funds still said 94 cents. I called into the Inmate Connect Network, which in UNDER GTL SERVICES, he stated the dispute that I had 3 months ago kicked me out of the system. I explained, I have been using this service for months without a issue, now today they stopped me from using it, for a situation that was their system's fault. Now I am unable to get calls from my love ones.
