Spectrum sells you on about the fastest internet ever and with sweet deals, but to be honest, all service providers sell you the same gimmick. I have had Spectrum since they had bought out Brighthouse and Time warner before that. With Brighthouse I never had a problem with but when another company takes over, what do you do when they are the only ones that service your area? They were great years ago but now that they have been using more than one box to get you the service you need it becomes a string of cables and boxes that you never wished you had.
Spectrum talks about the "2 towers" (as I liked to name them) that make your internet and cable work faster & efficiently. Of course one is for your cable and one is for your internet. That's a whatever if I ever heard one! Like I have just one box, no cable (not needed), I think that it should be made where all you need is one box for all if that's going to be the case and if it comes with a landline for your phone, ok. We just have to deal with a phone cable right. Nope, not the case with most of these cable and internet companies. Our technology is so advanced, you would think they can do better; not just Spectrum.
I stick with just internet. I do understand that there are more people now that have only internet and no cable. Why with all the NETFLIX, HULU, even PLUTO that lets you see what you want at a lesser cost then cable a month. This also has to do a lot with the slowing down of access, but ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY PEOPLE!! I think we can do better. Thank you.

In rainy weather, we lose connection several times or stops altogether. When using our fire stick, there are lags between the router and the fire stick that cause program interruptions. While this might be the cheapest way to go, there will be many disappointments with the service.

Spectrum is one of the very few providers for internet service in our area. Very expensive for what you get. When you first sign-up it's a pretty good deal at $50. After 1 years it goes up to $64. After 2nd year you pay their full price at $75 per month. That's just basic internet. Service is spotty and unreliable, especially at $75 per month. Unfortunately, that and AT&T are our only options.

I found a better price with a competitor for a the highest speed to upgrade. Had 300 speed but only ran at 35 and 45 all the time. When calling to see if anything could be done to provide faster internet service, somewhat comparable to the other providers' price, I was told, "NO, our prices are different, if you decide to cancel, call us back." After I switched during my call to cancel, the rep told me she could offer me the highest speed, waive the 200$ fee, and I could apply for a program that would save me 50$/month!! If she could do that immediately, why didn't the other rep at least attempt to offer anything? Disappointed after being a loyal customer for so long.

My experience so far has been generally very good. However, Internet speeds can vary from great to just okay. I also stream content and it is generally great, but sometimes the lag in sound and visual is annoying. Our area uses co-axial and our home theater sound system does not - so that's a big disappointment we are currently working through. The cost is much less than our previous service provider... I'd say about $75 / month less for similar services.

I’ve been very unhappy with their service for years - frequent dropped internet or very slow internet. However, they have a monopoly in our neighborhood and I’m unable to get any other ISP. I’m most unhappy about the fact that they frequently raise their rates. They even raise their rate during the pandemic when people were experiencing unemployment. I was one of them. The people at Spectrum are truly a caricature of a greed and exploitation. They prey on the fact that the people need them and exploit all that they can.

Spectrum's customer service is absolutely dismal despite their decent internet in my area. Year after year I have been forced to take their internet service because they have been the only game in town. Without competition, the rates rise every year and each year I am forced to reevaluate how much I am willing to pay for a basic service that allows me to do my job and stream some television. I am happy to shed their terrible service now that T-Mobile offers home internet through a hotspot gateway in my area. It is a much lower rate, has better speed, and the customer service has been amazing.
Upon canceling my service, Spectrum told me I was liable for the bill for the month and they would not pro-rate my service, despite the fact that I would not be receiving the service for two of the four weeks I would be paying for. They pointed out that the billing cycle (which was in much smaller print) had begun and I was obliged to pay for the full time. It is this sort of disingenuous and deceitful behavior that leads to people jump ship to a company with better customer service and a better experience at the first chance they get. I am glad to be rid of their service.

This has been completely the worst service I have ever experienced. I was with them for 3 years and to say the least they do not reward you for customer loyalty. Within that time the Internet was very unstable and nobody could ever help. When we moved we requested our services to be canceled at the end of the month just like every other service you have and they told us to send back the equipment and we thought that would be it. We then get a bill charging us for the equipment as well as another month's worth of Internet. I called and told them we sent the equipment back and that I gave my cancelation for the end of the month so I shouldn't be charged for another 30 days of Internet. The supervisor or manager Caren blatantly told me, "We are a subscription based service and that we will not be refunding you as you had the service until the 31st and billing end on the 28th." So in short I am paying $79.99 for 3 days of internet.
Of course they state these details somewhere but nobody told me when I called in for cancelation to make sure I end my services at the end of billing month otherwise I would have ended it then to not pay for the next month. After 3 years of being with them they have no customer satisfaction and only want your money. Completely unhappy with them and the so called service they provided. I will be leaving more reviews on as many platforms as possible to warn people of them.

One positive = The initial monthly charges for cable TV, internet and Wi-Fi include a perk of HBO/Showtime for 1 year. (No one advised me of this, I found it out by mistake!?) Multiple Negatives =
(1) When accepting the option of getting a call-back, I was informed it would not lose my place in line. Not only did I lose my place in line, I didn't get a call back at all. This happened three times before I opted to stay on the line and hold for the next available operator.
(2) The voice verification the phone system reminds you of on every call, more than once, means absolutely nothing. Out of the 5 calls I've made over the past 24 hours and 15 people I've had to explain my problems, NO ONE has verified my account by solely using voice. I've had to repeat name, address, PIN, and issue to each and every one.
(3) Policies vary depending who answers the call:
(A) One person tells me I cannot place an advanced cancellation notice for cable TV while keeping internet and Wi-Fi. Another person states I can.
(B) One person tells me the cancellation will take place on my requested date, but erroneously disconnects cable TV as soon as the call ended. When I immediately called to reinstate TV, the rep did so, but did not tell me there was a fee attached to reinstate TV along with a price increase at the going rate (not my original rate which was valid for another 8 months!) Also, the rep that reinstated service, did NOT reschedule the cancellation originally requested.
(C) When I called to talk to billing about eliminating the reconnection fees (due to Spectrum's error), they could not handle the issue because nothing was showing up yet on the actual bill. Nothing can be done until I receive a bill.
(D) One person states I do not need a return box sent to me for the DVR and remote. Another person states that I do and will be sending me one to my home.
Sure, I have names, confirmation numbers, dates and times related to the 15 calls mentioned above. However, this does not always mean I will be believed. No one seems to read the notes prior to grilling me over what I want done and when. Spectrum charges a hefty monthly fee. Therefore, customer service should be optimal, straight-forward and accurate each time with each person. ALL details need to be shared with the consumer for each matter. Lastly, they should really use the voice verification they advertise at every chance.

I am honestly surprised that their current rating is so high on here (as opposed to their appalling BBB reviews, which should be read carefully before you think about going with them). I am also surprised ConsumerAffairs says that they give you a "free modem" - no they do not. They "lease" it to you, will not remind you to return it when you disconnect (even if you got it from a preceding company over seven years prior and no longer remember if you leased it or bought it) and then will charge you some rate it's no longer worth if you don't return it immediately (said bill will not explain what the charge is for so you'll have to call). They do not pro-rate if you cancel, and I have heard them deliberately cancel a day after a billing cycle starts just so you have to pay for the next one. In general, they charge an exorbitant rate for internet that is often slow and prone to frequent outages (their technician boasted he had fixed our problem - he did nothing at all).
After several years of jacking up the prices, they ended up double the rate I paid for three years for basically the same service from the previous company they had absorbed. They always tell you that they notify you of these increases. I have never actually seen such a notification - although that could be because they barrage you with garbage mail to get you to buy more services so after a while you stop looking at all the notifications. I think I've had maybe one pleasant encounter with their service representatives, and some of them have been among the rudest people I've ever talked to. I'd only go with them again if I had basically no other option - which will probably happen given this country's weak enforcement of monopoly legislation.

I had Spectrum for a long time, about 8 years. I have 2 issues with them: 1. The service was very bad. You pay about $80 for basically not being able to even use basic websites like Google and social media on most days. 2. Their customer service is less than honest and clear about their policies. The reason I endured its unreliable internet service was because my neighborhood had no other provider up until a few months ago. Still, I kept it, because I was dealing with a lot to deal with a provider change.
Now that I moved, I was able to disconnect the service and go with a better provider. I called Spectrum’s customer service a week before they were supposed to charge my bank (I had auto pay the whole time we had service, so 8 years) and the representative lied all the way through our call about the cycle of my billing and made me believe I would not be charged the following month. I even asked him a couple of times to make sure, and he confirmed it I always prepaid. Well, 1. They disconnected my service two days earlier than I asked, causing me serious issues for my work, and 2. I did get charged. I called their customer service about the charge and their answer: “You should have read the fine print of our contract”.
Never mind I was a customer for 8 years and that their representative misled me into thinking I had no payments due after the disconnection (which they performed days before the date I asked for). So, in summary, they are not a trustworthy company, and they could not care less for their service quality or customer service.

We have a Spectrum line that runs over one of our pastures, this line has been dropping over the last couple of years. It has now dropped to the point where we are not able to get a tractor underneath it, and if a horse were to rear under the wire it could potentially touch it. I called the issue in 2.5 months ago, their construction crew said it was not low. But never did get back in contact with me. I called last week to have this issue addressed AGAIN, so AGAIN they sent out a tech that is not able to tighten this wire, their Construction crew has to do this job due to the equipment that is needed. So here I go again escalating to their customer service team that some member are beyond rude or even care about the risk at hand.
The worst part is when you ask to speak to a manager/supervisor - it is like pulling teeth. Our new date to "supposedly" get this issue fixed in 9/1/2021, I am not holding my breath...since their support team seems to be unreliable. While we have not had issues with our internet, their support services have a lot of room for growth. I once said there could be nothing worse than Xfinity. Then, I was introduced to Spectrum and boy has my opinion changed! From the start, Spectrum was late for the installation appointment. A tech was supposed to arrive between 1pm and 2pm. I receive a phone call from a 3rd party technician that the original appointment had been canceled (no phone call from Spectrum regarding this, by the way) and then he would get to me as soon as he was able. This technician eventually showed up around 3, which put me far behind schedule for handling other aspects of my move that day.
This tech took his sweet time, then topped off the experience by connecting the cable modem and the wireless router with a telephone cord. Yes, you read that right - a TELEPHONE CORD. I'm not sure where these vendors get their training, but there is a distinct difference between RJ-11 and RJ-45, and this guy should have known that. So, when I get home expecting my service to work, it did not. Easy fix, as I had several ethernet cables available to use.
Then came the abysmal upload speed issue, where my upstream speed capped out at roughly .75 mbps. Took a few days for this to resolve. Now, I'm paying over $100 per month for their fastest speeds and greater bandwidth just to have a connection rife with jitter and high latency. As a gamer, this is not acceptable and causes numerous issues. As a professional, it makes call quality and remote troubleshooting a pain. As a customer, it pisses me off. Just to think I paid $200 installation for janky service and half-** installation. Then their sales guy had the hubris to call and ask about adding cable tv to the plan. I didn't know whether to laugh or curse his name. I simply hung up.
I really hate the fact that this is the ONLY ISP I can get in my complex when there are better options out there to be had. The only upside is they don't do data caps. Uncapped data is useless, though, if your connection is garbage. If you have the choice, I would STRONGLY recommend you avoid Charter/Spectrum. Spectrum loves having you try their stuff out. Then the service goes downhill fast while the prices go up proportionally. When you call to complain, the reps are always apologetic, before launching a sales pitch trying to get you to spend more money with them. I called to cancel our cable service, and they were trying to get me to switch our cell phones over to Spectrum! The service isn’t horrible when it’s working. But I’ve noticed as soon as the gigabit internet service came out, the slower plan seemed to suffer a lot. The excuse I got was that I had too many things connected without knowing. Then they suggested I get their upgraded internet which is faster… I don’t need more speed. I need it to just work.

Then Fernando became offended and condensing in his conversation when I shared with him that I was well versed in the English language!!! Finally I get a supervisor who explains the month to month and says there is NOTHING she can do! Wow, what a way to treat a long time costumer that pays their bills and just wanted to stop their services. THEN THEY wanted to sell me other products.... In the days of COVID, there are a lot of people who have been out of work at time and struggling for every penny. I have worked and do not take government benefits so my money is tight! So, when I received notice that my SPECTRUM service was increasing in price, I decided that I could no longer afford to keep it. I called to cancel the service which they did immediately. Then I kept getting bills in the mail so I called and they said that when I cancelled the service, I was one-week in to the monthly billing cycle so therefore, I had to pay for the whole month. I advised them they should have told me that when I called them and they should have offered to keep the service activated for the rest of the time I had. They quickly advised me that it was not their job to inform me of that information and that I did not ask that question. How would I have known to ask that question.
They were of no help. So I am not one to shirk my responsibilities and not pay my bills and they kept hounding me so I finally paid the bill. I did advise them that they were very inconsiderate to their customers and that I would do everything I could to keep other potential customers from taking their service. Thanks to Netflix and other online type services and cell-phone hot spots, I no longer rely on their services and never will.

Don’t waste your time with this company. They are all dishonest and unprofessional. I upgraded my service in March of 2021 to the gig plan, I was using the ultra 400. The guy upgraded my service and said that my router was sufficient for the speeds so no needing new equipment. He said to reset my router in 30 minutes and the speeds would be upgraded. So I did and they were, I was excited seeing the high 800s. Fast forward to now my internet has been slow this week so I reached out. I was told that my plan was ultra 400 and I said, "No. I upgraded back in March." She said, "No. The upgrade was cancelled for not picking up new equipment. I said, "I was never told about this. I want to speak to a supervisor." So the supervisor Halli comes and tells me that it was unsuccessful but not cancelled.
I’m so confused at this point and asking why did this happen as I was told it was done, my bills increased and speeds increased same day. She said it was never upgraded. They didn’t take any responsibility for the sales rep, instead the supervisor Halli said quote “Spectrum doesn’t contact customers for issues you contact us”. I said, "I didn’t know I had an issue, my service was upgraded. Why didn’t anyone call me to say I needed equipment or that it was cancelled or that problems arised? Nope, not a call, email or mail piece came for me." Instead she proceeded to deflect and blame me. I then asked to speak with a manager, they transferred me to a guy named Oak. He didn’t help, he just said he was submitting my feedback for coaching opportunities.
Moral of the story - Spectrum is a unprofessional company, who condones lies by the sales reps and management backs it up. They didn’t offer me any sort of resolution, no compensation for my bills, nothing at all but to pay 199 to upgrade to gig and to piss off essentially. I’m in Shelbyville Tennessee so not many internet providers around but don’t trust anything these people say, check your bills, double check everything. I have screenshots of all my interactions, including the March interaction about my upgrade and an email saying it was successful.
This company is disgusting. They don’t take accountability for their actions and lies, they deflect blame onto the customer. I’ve been a customer for over 2 years now, my next door neighbor is a spectrum worker as well. Sad, when I told him about my experience he was not shocked and said he was paid decent enough and ignored the ** he encountered. I will be placing this review in every spot I can find, so that people can choose another honest provider.

I started my journey with Spectrum in December 2020 in Tampa Florida, we moved in April to Saint Petersburg. I called two weeks prior to our move to let them know we would need a transfer of service. Gave them the date and confirmed all details. I then called again the day we moved to confirm I was told everything was set and the internet worked so I assumed we were good to go, a few days passed and my internet stopped working, so I called and they told me that they had my account in as ending service not transfer, and they would have to set me up with a brand new account, annoyed but I said okay, they had me “pay the balance” from my previous account prior to opening the new account I paid it and then we opened a new account. They insisted on me getting a new box so I went several days with no internet awaiting the new box.
Today several months later I received a letter from collections in the mail saying I had a balance from the old account of $122.45 so I called the company and was told it was for the new bill on the old account, and the person who set up my new account didn’t mention it because it wasn’t yet due upon closing said account, I would have paid whatever was due but I had no idea it was due. So now I have a collection on my credit that could have easily been fixed but I was not given the chance prior to it being too late. Also I would like to add the internet is terrible. I have to reset my box constantly and we have the fastest speed available in our area. I don’t recommend going with this company. While they continue to hound for TV service - don't want. The 1st 2 supervisors said that they could not listen back to the call which was a lie. They also mentioned about me signing electronically which is a lie because I did not. DO NOT. USE. SPECTRUM. Are you one of those people who loves paying way too much to get about 10% of what you thought you were buying? Do you adore the customer service runaround of "Oh, that's going to be xyz department, I can't help you with that but I can transfer you"? And does it just tickle you to learn that after a month of NOT USING A SERVICE BUT STILL BEING CHARGED, a company "simply doesn't do refunds, we do credits but since you are discontinuing our service there's nothing I can do"??? Then, I guess maybe go with Spectrum.
I've paid $75/mo for speeds "up to 400mbps" for over a year now. Don't miss that sneaky "up to" - Spectrum sure won't. Over the past year, my speeds have been an average of about 20mbps. On a good day, off peak hours, maybe I'd score 46. More often than not though, I'd be working with a pathetic 7.99mbps or even 1.55mbps! This is with a modem reset, sitting on the couch literally three feet away from the modem/router.
Anyway, I finally got a new internet provider. Service was hooked up, and my Spectrum equipment disconnected, on May 24th. I noticed an autopay charge on my account for June, and it turns out my roommate hadn't called in to cancel the service. I figured I'll call and explain, since I'm barely a day past the bill cycle date and you can see on my account that there has been no usage or activity since before the end of the billing period.
I end up spending a couple hours trying to navigate all the customer service nonsense just to be told that Spectrum does not give refunds and would not give me the money back for the unused month of service. I tried everything, even pointing out that for well over a year I'd been getting less than 10% of the service I was paying for while they'd been getting 100% of my money (!!), and explained that I wasn't even trying to get into any of that, I just wanted my money back for the month of service I NEVER EVEN USED. Customer service rep told me that the billing cycle was from 5/28-6/27. My equipment and everything had been completely disconnected since 5/24. Are you serious, Spectrum? Worst service from a company I have ever experienced. Summary: Don't get Spectrum. If there's literally any other internet provider in your area, including dial-up, go with that. WOW notified Spectrum of the changes in order to port my landline over in March, which Spectrum acknowledged, and my WOW services came online effective 4/1/2021. On 4/2/2021 I returned my Spectrum equipment yet they are billing me for the full month of April because they say they don't prorate. I had been decent about everything paying them through 4/2 yet they insist on getting a full month. It is not worth my time fighting this however I wanted to warn others of this really poor practice.
Like I said, I was with this company for decades but I will never go back. I had been complaining of inconsistent internet speeds many times to Spectrum and had all the equipment replaced to no avail. Now with WOW I have 5x the speed and I am NEVER down. Streaming tv and getting online is so much smoother without the stupid delays. Also, even when WOW deals expire I am still cheaper off than with Spectrum with consistent service and higher speeds to boot. If you want a reliable internet provider and consistent better speed use WOW.

I cancelled my service with them. I was not informed that they don't prorate. After cancelling the service, I called to inquire about my bill and was informed this. I asked to have my service reinstated through the end of the billing cycle, since I had already paid for it. They informed me there would be a $10 starting fee. They also told me I needed to pay my first month upfront. I reiterated that I wasn't paying for more time, I just wanted to utilize the service time I already paid for. They informed me there was no way to do that, I had to restart an account for them. So after shutting off my service (I don't have internet currently), they are now insisting I pay twice for the same month plus a $10 fee in order to get service for the next 3 weeks (which again, I've already paid for). I've never particularly liked Spectrum but I will now be proactive to ensure I never give money to them again.

Spectrum's customer service is horrible most of the time, and the higher those employees positions, the worse treatment is expected. They are also very discriminatory in general. In the FCC's national verifier, I applied for EBB and got approved in less than a minute. But when it comes to Spectrum, they hired a team to do their "dirty work," which never gets done. After waiting three weeks, they emailed (don't reply one) stating FCC didn't approve my application and provided the FCC's phone number. However, FCC said that it was approved, and I saw the word "qualified" was under status on their website.
Moreover, FCC said they received many complaints regarding two internet providers (Spectrum and another) because they had too many problems. There is nobody to talk about at Spectrum because from representatives to the managers, they say the same thing, "team is off-site, and we can't contact them." So they ironically keep saying things like "disregard the emails," wait for 1-2 billing cycles. How can I disregard this type of email? They think I am unintelligent, but that comes with their discrimination.

When my phone was stolen is when this nightmare started. My phone was suspended and I was then told someone would call me to inform me of how much it would cost to replace phone. At this point Spectrum Mobile was aware I had relocated to West Coast almost two years ago and updated address. So when Sunday came for someone to call me after borrowing someone's phone to receive call. NO ONE CALLED. I had to send a message through Twitter for someone to call and confirm the cost of the replacement phone.
SO 2 hours later someone finally called to relay the same cost that had been relayed 2 days prior wasting time, affecting my health and ability to make money, or finish school. They were aware of all this and never offered a temporary phone or expedition of replacement. Then the worst slap in the face after suspending my service and sending me a DEFECTIVE REPLACEMENT they charge me full monthly price. I then called on Sunday and spoke with Romario to escalate and get credit for missing days of service.
Also due to Spectrum error of not updating my address over 2 years ago when I came into the store, I was racially profiled through Assurant Claim approval process because of it. As soon as I uploaded my ID was then flagged and an additional 5 days were added to my replacement processing. I missed school and had to apply for extension once I got my phone back because I go online. My health was affected because I missed doctor's appointment. The worst experience EVER!

Spectrum has a weird policy where they cannot schedule your actual disconnect in advance and there is no prorating for the monthly service charge. So ATT disconnected the cable Internet but Spectrum then said I missed the next month's cutoff date so they billed me an additional $90. The overall system performance is reliable and if I had the service that was advertised I would be happy with the price/service. At present I feel that I am paying 100 per cent of the cost for about 25 percent of the advertised service speed. One of their reps. told me they were a month to month service like Netflix.
The difference between a monthly subscription service like Netflix, and Spectrum is when you cancel service with Netflix on the 15th of the month you still get to watch their programs until the end of the month. They don't refund or prorate but you still get what you paid for until your subscription ends. With Spectrum you get nothing but a bill. So I hate to say that before today I loved Spectrum until I received a bill for a whole other month of service after I cancelled a day and a half into their service. I know a lot of people in and around the Tampa and Sarasota area. Before today I would have gladly recommended this company to anyone.
My company does a lot of business in both of those areas. Going forward from today I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone due to the simple fact that they do not respect their customers and clearly only care about taking money from people who are not even using their service. Also, no, it's not about the money. I could pay for 12 months and not bat an eye, it's the concept of customer service and respecting and treating your customer correctly.
I will actually be recommending everyone to stay away. When companies actually care about their customers and go above and beyond in solving problems and not just blaming things on the company policies, like the supervisor did on the phone with me at the end of the day that company has a customer base that will stay forever. Tell your executives to pick up a book from Kevin Blanchard - Raving Fans. Maybe they can learn how customer service actually works.
I was moving homes and was going to sign back up after a couple of months once we got into the new house being built. I will be moving to Frontier since they have been very responsive in scheduling a installation today. I will be updating this further depending on the response I get from spectrum. I've been a customer of their internet service for several years. Initially I had both cable TV and Internet. They charge 10 dollars for the cable TV box, I turned the box off for several months, so it's not used by their service, however, if you choose to return the box to rid yourself of the charge, then your cable TV is discontinued. This I did, which resulted in my internet service cost immediately being adjusted at that moment to a cost equal to the amount I paid for both services.
Shortly thereafter, they again raised the rate to higher than the amount than the competition (ie ATT) for service that is inferior. When I called to say, you need to set the rate back, I was told "no can do". After replacing them with ATT, I dropped the their equipment off and told them to discontinue my service. They failed to do this and continued to charge me for the service. I then called them, reached billing and they actually shouted "you will not receive a refund" over the top of me asking them why I they can increase their rates only a few months before in mid-month, but now that I am owed money, they can't.
I spoke to the billing manager after realizing this person had no interest in helping. He was even worse. I did finally make my way to the disconnect department, who said they could drop my cost to 54 a month and increase my speed to the top amount. Too bad I didn't call disconnect from the start. I spoke to another customer service rep who told me that the first rep told me wrong and it would take 5 business days and someone should be contacting me within the next day. Still did not receive a phone call. So I called back again, this time a customer service rep told me I should be able to take the death certificate to my nearest Spectrum and they could cancel my mom's service. I drove 16 miles only to be told that the Spectrum reps in San Antonio only deal with accounts in that area and not Kentucky where my mom lived.
I called Spectrum back again, this time the customer service rep said she was putting a note in the system to her supervisor and that I would get a call back within a couple hours. Never received a call again. I called again and the customer service rep told me that the authorized user on the account would have to call to get the service cancelled. She proceeded to tell me who the authorized user was, which she was not suppose to do. I contacted that person and they called to have my mother's account cancelled only to be given a ticket number and told it would be resolved in 3-5 business days. At this point I was furious because I had spoken to like 7 people already and was given the run around while my dead mother's account was still accumulating charges.
I called again and was finally able to speak to a supervisor, scan the death certificate and get my mother's account cancelled. I called Spectrum and an agent told me that I have to paid for the whole month even though they cancelled my service on 1/11/21. She will not credit the $24.99. This is not what the earlier agent told me. She cancelled the service right at the moment and confirmed me that the billing was $79.99 that was why I wrote a check of $79.99 to pay for the service. What should happen was the earlier agent should tell me the following key information:
1. Service can be cancelled now but it will continue to work until the end of this cycle. She cancelled right at that moment and service was disabled.2. I have to pay for a full month service until the current cycle ends and service will continue to operate normally.
3. She should not confirm me that the total billing was $79.99.
4. I should receive a notification letter or clearly notify me in the billing that the next billing amount will increase starting next cycle.
So, this agent and the previous agent approach this issue differently. Who is right? I asked this agent "is this customer cheating, scam, deception your business operating model? Yes or no". She answered differently as a sign of yes.

Even though the salesman told us the rate we would pay would not go up at all for the 3 year period. We were then totally informed that if any of the package items went up, we would just keep the promised discount on said items, but our rate would go up by whatever the new rate was. So you never get a flat rate because they raise the base rate at any time. So if it sounds confusing, it is. If it sounds misleading, it is.
Example, we were told it would be 127.59 for Tv, internet, and phone service and that bill would never go up for 3 years. I have been with Charter for so many years and then it changed to Spectrum. I have been with Spectrum for a long time, I do not recall when it changed from Charter to Spectrum. Both me and my husband have been very Happy with Spectrum and we get everything we want to watch.

Spectrum cable service is semi reliable. About every two weeks we are calling tech services to resolve an issue. Sometimes they are able to fix the problem. Other times you are just told "we understand" and sent over to another division to fix the problem. Compared to dish services it is less expensive and they do not require a contract like dish satellite services.

Constant fee changes and rebooting needs--elapsed time required to reboot televisions and constant rebooting needs to get system working. Long elapsed time trying to get in phone contact with company to get technical service or advice to resolve operational problems.

In case you consider using Spectrum, beware of one item on the contract that most people are not likely to read. Spectrum bills itself as a "monthly billing" company. This means, and I can document this fact, that when you decide to discontinue service, you will be charged a FULL month service fee for no service unless you happen to discontinue the service on the last day of your billing cycle. So, if you decide to use Spectrum (and I just switched away) bear in mind this unfortunate fact since you may end up paying for zero service.
Reviewed Jan. 8, 2021
They advertise they are "contract free" but when your special deal runs out, they provide you with another special deal that is slightly higher and they keep doing this until you are paying way more than when you began. After 3 years I was paying almost triple for less services (they removed channels when I "switched" deals). They are very shady. They have a monopoly in my area though so I'm just waiting for other providers to become available.

Internet is generally slow or stops and cost of services is extremely high IMO. It seems like every month the cost goes up. Internet intermittently go in and out throughout the day and I lose whatever I was in the middle of. Seems like it's too much to pay for the aggravation of it.

Spectrum is fine but the sales agent who set me up for the service did a lot of misrepresentations and it took a lot of time and long hold times and a trip to the store to resolve. Buyer please understand the products and write them down so you can refer back to what you were told and what you received. The service is good, but be sure to know what you signed up for. The person at the store was awesome.

They are the only company in my area of residence in an apartment complex. This is frustrating because the prices charged are not competitive. You are at their mercy. The constant problems with Wi-Fi reception and speed are troublesome. I've reduced and removed the extra $20 for higher speed Mbps internet. It wasn't worth it, they didn't deliver as advertised. It was just a ploy to make money. Also, there are problems with DVR not recording programs or static or disruptions in DVR recordings and slow downs when loading up DVR programs supposedly recorded. Even after complaining and exchanging DVR box for another, problems still remain.

I've been a customer for approximately a year now and have never asked for payment arrangements of any kind until today. Their website states how they will work with you during this time due to Covid yet when I tried to make arrangements it was a whole different story. They say they are unable to make any arrangements so I can catch up on my bill. I paid the past due so it is only the one month I needed to break up into payments so I won't be behind. Apparently, they forgot to take down the ever so helpful seeming article. I then tried to remove tv service which I was told would not lower my bill because it was bundled. They should not post false information about helping their customers if, in fact, they have no intention of doing so. Very poor company relations.
I will say the representative did try to be as helpful as he could be and apologized for being unable to help. I understand his hands are tied and he can only do his job as defined by management. Maybe they should take a course from him in customer relations. I'm still in the same position as when I started. The fact that we have had multiple service interruptions for hours at a time over the past several months without any deductions made to our account does not seem to matter to them. If I am paying for a service, I am entitled to the service being available for that time period without interruptions (I am talking 3 to 4 hours with no service for at least 5-7 days a month). Not a happy customer in Bakersfield, California.

After his death I kept his Spectrum account as we began the process of clearing his house. (Driving four times 2100 miles each way because of COVID to do so). On 12/03/20 I paid what I assumed to be his last Spectrum bill. His house was vacated 12/12. On 12/17 I called to terminate his cable. The next day I received a final bill for “service from 12/18/20 through 01/17/21”. Multiple calls to Spectrum did no good. Including talking to a rude corporate representative who called at dinner time Christmas Eve. I was told if I did not pay they would go after his estate. This company is galling and heartless.
