I've been having issues with Spectrum internet. While in the process of solving these issues it was discovered that I was on a "legacy twc" account. All legacy account means is they charge you the same amount as their higher speed internet but keep you on a plan that is less than 1/6th of what you are paying for. They act like it was a benefit to you to keep you on this plan. How do slower internet speeds benefit me?! I've been overpaying for the service they've been providing.

Terrible service. Pay for gig internet using their equipment and the service can’t even deliver their own TV service. Buffering is terrible and all the time. No support at all. I’m downtown central Dallas not in the middle of the countryside. Spectrum should be embarrassed in offering its customers reduced rates. Pls don’t waste your time or money.

We had Spectrum in Florida. Never had a problem. But in North Carolina there's nothing else but problems. Channels change from 2 rooms away or just by themselves, constantly searching for signal internet might as well be non-existent. They do have good customer service but that's where it ends.

Started with them 4 years ago. My internet cost $45 a month, stream TV was $15 for the channels and 15 for the movies channels which included HBO Showtime Flix and Encore, with fees and taxes was around $85 a month. A year later they removed some sports channels and made them an extra add on for 12 a month. Now the bill was around 105 a month. 2019 they increased the internet cost from 45 to 65 and now to 75. Then I noticed it kept going up more on the stream TV side. Now instead of paying 15 for the stream channels 15 for the movie channels and 12 for the ESPN and Bloomberg I am paying 20 for the stream 40 for the movies and 12 for espn and bloomberg. Oh and they added a TV surcharge for 18 a month. Now it is 92 and the total bill is over 180 a month. Time to start shopping for a different TV provider.

After having repeated difficulties with the app, the internet service and unpleasant customer service experiences, I cancelled my service. I was charged a full month of service for only 2 days of service. I cancelled on Sept 24th and they said since I did not cancel before the billing cycle began on the 22nd, they had to charge me for the full month as they do not prorate their services. No one made me aware of this policy at the time I cancelled and only discovered this after receiving a final bill. I called Customer Service and was told repeatedly that nothing could be done and I would have to pay the full billing amount even though I only had service for 2 days. I would advise anyone to use a different cable/internet provider.

I called Spectrum because they screwed up and turned off two of my cable boxes in my apartment. The customer service people I spoke to were the rudest representatives I have ever had the misfortune of speaking to. They would not send a tech out for over 3 days and when they finally did they could not get the issue resolved.
I called the customer service line and had the rudest conversation of my life with the lady on the phone refusing to listen to me and constantly interrupting me to tell me to let her finish. If this was not a service agreement with my leasing company I would have jumped ship long ago and as I soon as I move out of this apartment I will not use them again. These people are the most horrible people I have ever met. Their technical staff do not have a clue what they are doing and they suck really bad at giving customers service. Please do not use them.

We recently cancelled our Spectrum internet service as the upload speed was not as advertised (7-18 mbs on a 200 mbs plan) and I was unable to work from home with their service. I cancelled 4 days into the billing cycle and they charged a full month. When I called for a refund they advised "sorry, but we bill for the full month regardless if you didn't have service the full month." Last frustration, their site has two service centers listed within 30 minutes of my house, however they're both closed. So two wasted trips (the phone number online goes direct to their corp office). We now need to pay to mail back the equipment so they'll refund me the additional $120 they charged.

We just cancelled our service through Spectrum. The price is too high, and we went with another company that is $45 cheaper a month for the same or better service than what we had with Spectrum. I had already paid the monthly bill, but Spectrum is refusing to refund for half of the month that we did not use. Unfair practices.

As a high school teacher, I manage a club called CyberPatriots, a virtual competition that allows students to compete worldwide to demonstrate their skills and abilities. Due to the nature of virtual competitions, we need high speed internet, which Spectrum has proved to be difficult in providing. They turned down a request for a donated line and have actually been charging double the current rate for 200mb internet. Due to the local monopolization, they don't seem to care about anything but $$$ and we can't do anything about it...

I had recently cancelled my Spectrum service and switched to another provider since the 2 years promotion expired and the cost went up. I had 2 days into the next month cycle when I switched the service. I was thinking spectrum would charge pro-rate for the no of days I had their service (3 days) but they charged me for the full month saying that is their policy.
With the paperless billing, we do see all these fine hidden terms and now they claim that I should have read that contract. With paperless billing, we don't get to see the full contract terms. What a shame, it is real cheating if you ask me. Basically they know people will switch when the promotion expires to avoid high cost for the same service and this is a trap to get even. Beware of these policies -- no prorate when you cancel, but give you a prorate when you sign in to a new contract with them. What a shame?

Except there is, and that is to report them to my local AG, FTC and BBB. Additionally, I am filing complaints for their clear violations of a number of privacy laws. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but these clowns are as unprofessional and shady as they come.

Instead of spending quality family time, I wasted over an hour with four idiots, worthless phone representatives, each contradicting themselves, fabricating claims, incompetently saying they are unable to make the changes to my cable service. The first representative stated that their packages have changed and that promotions are for new customers only. Great, so existing customers don't get notified of changes and are not extended the same promotions as new clients. Doesn't good business sense dictate caring for existing customers instead of frustrating and pushing the anger buttons? Spectrum has a "retention" department. Do they admit their business relations are so horrible that after demoralizing a current customer to the point of getting them to the verge of cancelling everything to flee to a competitor, Spectrum as last resort, defers to the "retention" staff?
I spend over 58 minutes to get lied to. I was told I don't need cable boxes anymore. The Spectrum app on any smart TV can provide all the channels I want. WRONG!!! I cut the call with a vengeance only to call again after breathing deeply for about ten minutes. On the second attempt, I spoke to only one representative - Greg - who resolved my issue in 13 minutes. Now wouldn't it be better for business to have done this on the first call? It would have prevented this deplorable review.

I used Spectrum Internet for the past year with many problems with it going out quite a bit. It's technology and doesn't always work the way we want it to! The end of my promotion came and all of a sudden my bill jumped up $15 a month. Yes I know that may not seem like much however that's $180 increase over last year. I called to see if they had something to offer me maybe another promotion or something I am a returning customer. The person I was talking with sent me over to the Retentions department. The lady I spoke to said there is nothing available for me so I told her I would be looking at the competition and she really didn't care. I searched for a new company and switched on the spot! So much better customer service!
I called Spectrum back to cancel and now all of a sudden they wanted to keep my business! I explained what the previous person did and he was very apologetic and offered me better speeds, lower price than what I was paying. Really Spectrum??? You didn't care when I asked for help now you do. The guy I was speaking with told me nothing about my last bill. As a matter of fact I asked him I all clear I don't owe anything and he told me that is correct because I had my own equipment.
A week latter I receive a bill from Spectrum for $130.00. What??? They charged me not only for a month of service I cancelled and my equipment! I call to get this matter cleared up and again the person I spoke to on the phone was friendly but the only thing she could take off the bill was the equipment cost. Really??? You can do that but not reduce the bill from $65 to $50 what I was paying? They would rather spend the money and time and effort to send this to collections! I will never use or refer business to Spectrum!!!! Worst company I have dealt with in years. They only want to help when you cancel. Ridiculous!

Promised that Defective Phone would be replaced and 3 weeks later still no new phone. And still promises being made.
I can not stress enough there is a reason why you receive better service from actual cellphone companies and not cable companies. Do Not Do It. Then I have to request a credit on my account for the missed service. They seem to have a monopoly in my area, as there is no direct competitor that I can find with the same speeds. I would try a competitor in a heartbeat if I could get the same speed with a similar price. Spectrum sells you on about the fastest internet ever and with sweet deals, but to be honest, all service providers sell you the same gimmick. I have had Spectrum since they had bought out Brighthouse and Time warner before that. With Brighthouse I never had a problem with but when another company takes over, what do you do when they are the only ones that service your area? They were great years ago but now that they have been using more than one box to get you the service you need it becomes a string of cables and boxes that you never wished you had.
Spectrum talks about the "2 towers" (as I liked to name them) that make your internet and cable work faster & efficiently. Of course one is for your cable and one is for your internet. That's a whatever if I ever heard one! Like I have just one box, no cable (not needed), I think that it should be made where all you need is one box for all if that's going to be the case and if it comes with a landline for your phone, ok. We just have to deal with a phone cable right. Nope, not the case with most of these cable and internet companies. Our technology is so advanced, you would think they can do better; not just Spectrum.
I stick with just internet. I do understand that there are more people now that have only internet and no cable. Why with all the NETFLIX, HULU, even PLUTO that lets you see what you want at a lesser cost then cable a month. This also has to do a lot with the slowing down of access, but ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY PEOPLE!! I think we can do better. Thank you.

In my neighborhood, there are not many service provider options for high speed internet. I live in a suburban area, but perhaps because of the hills, there are very few options. Spectrum offers the best available with promises of increasing the speed over the last decade, but it remains similar. It’s not as fast as it could be during peak usage, but for the most part, it is reliable. I am not a gamer. I just stream movies occasionally in a household of 3, and use the internet for business.

I’ve been very unhappy with their service for years - frequent dropped internet or very slow internet. However, they have a monopoly in our neighborhood and I’m unable to get any other ISP. I’m most unhappy about the fact that they frequently raise their rates. They even raise their rate during the pandemic when people were experiencing unemployment. I was one of them. The people at Spectrum are truly a caricature of a greed and exploitation. They prey on the fact that the people need them and exploit all that they can.

Spectrum's customer service is absolutely dismal despite their decent internet in my area. Year after year I have been forced to take their internet service because they have been the only game in town. Without competition, the rates rise every year and each year I am forced to reevaluate how much I am willing to pay for a basic service that allows me to do my job and stream some television. I am happy to shed their terrible service now that T-Mobile offers home internet through a hotspot gateway in my area. It is a much lower rate, has better speed, and the customer service has been amazing.
Upon canceling my service, Spectrum told me I was liable for the bill for the month and they would not pro-rate my service, despite the fact that I would not be receiving the service for two of the four weeks I would be paying for. They pointed out that the billing cycle (which was in much smaller print) had begun and I was obliged to pay for the full time. It is this sort of disingenuous and deceitful behavior that leads to people jump ship to a company with better customer service and a better experience at the first chance they get. I am glad to be rid of their service.

This has been completely the worst service I have ever experienced. I was with them for 3 years and to say the least they do not reward you for customer loyalty. Within that time the Internet was very unstable and nobody could ever help. When we moved we requested our services to be canceled at the end of the month just like every other service you have and they told us to send back the equipment and we thought that would be it. We then get a bill charging us for the equipment as well as another month's worth of Internet. I called and told them we sent the equipment back and that I gave my cancelation for the end of the month so I shouldn't be charged for another 30 days of Internet. The supervisor or manager Caren blatantly told me, "We are a subscription based service and that we will not be refunding you as you had the service until the 31st and billing end on the 28th." So in short I am paying $79.99 for 3 days of internet.
Of course they state these details somewhere but nobody told me when I called in for cancelation to make sure I end my services at the end of billing month otherwise I would have ended it then to not pay for the next month. After 3 years of being with them they have no customer satisfaction and only want your money. Completely unhappy with them and the so called service they provided. I will be leaving more reviews on as many platforms as possible to warn people of them.

One positive = The initial monthly charges for cable TV, internet and Wi-Fi include a perk of HBO/Showtime for 1 year. (No one advised me of this, I found it out by mistake!?) Multiple Negatives =
(1) When accepting the option of getting a call-back, I was informed it would not lose my place in line. Not only did I lose my place in line, I didn't get a call back at all. This happened three times before I opted to stay on the line and hold for the next available operator.
(2) The voice verification the phone system reminds you of on every call, more than once, means absolutely nothing. Out of the 5 calls I've made over the past 24 hours and 15 people I've had to explain my problems, NO ONE has verified my account by solely using voice. I've had to repeat name, address, PIN, and issue to each and every one.
(3) Policies vary depending who answers the call:
(A) One person tells me I cannot place an advanced cancellation notice for cable TV while keeping internet and Wi-Fi. Another person states I can.
(B) One person tells me the cancellation will take place on my requested date, but erroneously disconnects cable TV as soon as the call ended. When I immediately called to reinstate TV, the rep did so, but did not tell me there was a fee attached to reinstate TV along with a price increase at the going rate (not my original rate which was valid for another 8 months!) Also, the rep that reinstated service, did NOT reschedule the cancellation originally requested.
(C) When I called to talk to billing about eliminating the reconnection fees (due to Spectrum's error), they could not handle the issue because nothing was showing up yet on the actual bill. Nothing can be done until I receive a bill.
(D) One person states I do not need a return box sent to me for the DVR and remote. Another person states that I do and will be sending me one to my home.
Sure, I have names, confirmation numbers, dates and times related to the 15 calls mentioned above. However, this does not always mean I will be believed. No one seems to read the notes prior to grilling me over what I want done and when. Spectrum charges a hefty monthly fee. Therefore, customer service should be optimal, straight-forward and accurate each time with each person. ALL details need to be shared with the consumer for each matter. Lastly, they should really use the voice verification they advertise at every chance.

I am honestly surprised that their current rating is so high on here (as opposed to their appalling BBB reviews, which should be read carefully before you think about going with them). I am also surprised ConsumerAffairs says that they give you a "free modem" - no they do not. They "lease" it to you, will not remind you to return it when you disconnect (even if you got it from a preceding company over seven years prior and no longer remember if you leased it or bought it) and then will charge you some rate it's no longer worth if you don't return it immediately (said bill will not explain what the charge is for so you'll have to call). They do not pro-rate if you cancel, and I have heard them deliberately cancel a day after a billing cycle starts just so you have to pay for the next one. In general, they charge an exorbitant rate for internet that is often slow and prone to frequent outages (their technician boasted he had fixed our problem - he did nothing at all).
After several years of jacking up the prices, they ended up double the rate I paid for three years for basically the same service from the previous company they had absorbed. They always tell you that they notify you of these increases. I have never actually seen such a notification - although that could be because they barrage you with garbage mail to get you to buy more services so after a while you stop looking at all the notifications. I think I've had maybe one pleasant encounter with their service representatives, and some of them have been among the rudest people I've ever talked to. I'd only go with them again if I had basically no other option - which will probably happen given this country's weak enforcement of monopoly legislation.

I had Spectrum for a long time, about 8 years. I have 2 issues with them: 1. The service was very bad. You pay about $80 for basically not being able to even use basic websites like Google and social media on most days. 2. Their customer service is less than honest and clear about their policies. The reason I endured its unreliable internet service was because my neighborhood had no other provider up until a few months ago. Still, I kept it, because I was dealing with a lot to deal with a provider change.
Now that I moved, I was able to disconnect the service and go with a better provider. I called Spectrum’s customer service a week before they were supposed to charge my bank (I had auto pay the whole time we had service, so 8 years) and the representative lied all the way through our call about the cycle of my billing and made me believe I would not be charged the following month. I even asked him a couple of times to make sure, and he confirmed it I always prepaid. Well, 1. They disconnected my service two days earlier than I asked, causing me serious issues for my work, and 2. I did get charged. I called their customer service about the charge and their answer: “You should have read the fine print of our contract”.
Never mind I was a customer for 8 years and that their representative misled me into thinking I had no payments due after the disconnection (which they performed days before the date I asked for). So, in summary, they are not a trustworthy company, and they could not care less for their service quality or customer service.

It has now dropped to the point where we are not able to get a tractor underneath it, and if a horse were to rear under the wire it could potentially touch it. I called the issue in 2.5 months ago, their construction crew said it was not low. But never did get back in contact with me. I called last week to have this issue addressed AGAIN, so AGAIN they sent out a tech that is not able to tighten this wire, their Construction crew has to do this job due to the equipment that is needed. So here I go again escalating to their customer service team that some member are beyond rude or even care about the risk at hand.
The worst part is when you ask to speak to a manager/supervisor - it is like pulling teeth. Our new date to "supposedly" get this issue fixed in 9/1/2021, I am not holding my breath...since their support team seems to be unreliable. I once said there could be nothing worse than Xfinity. Then, I was introduced to Spectrum and boy has my opinion changed! From the start, Spectrum was late for the installation appointment. A tech was supposed to arrive between 1pm and 2pm. I receive a phone call from a 3rd party technician that the original appointment had been canceled (no phone call from Spectrum regarding this, by the way) and then he would get to me as soon as he was able. This technician eventually showed up around 3, which put me far behind schedule for handling other aspects of my move that day.
This tech took his sweet time, then topped off the experience by connecting the cable modem and the wireless router with a telephone cord. Yes, you read that right - a TELEPHONE CORD. I'm not sure where these vendors get their training, but there is a distinct difference between RJ-11 and RJ-45, and this guy should have known that. So, when I get home expecting my service to work, it did not. Easy fix, as I had several ethernet cables available to use.
Then came the abysmal upload speed issue, where my upstream speed capped out at roughly .75 mbps. Took a few days for this to resolve. Now, I'm paying over $100 per month for their fastest speeds and greater bandwidth just to have a connection rife with jitter and high latency. As a gamer, this is not acceptable and causes numerous issues. As a professional, it makes call quality and remote troubleshooting a pain. As a customer, it pisses me off. Just to think I paid $200 installation for janky service and half-** installation. Then their sales guy had the hubris to call and ask about adding cable tv to the plan. I didn't know whether to laugh or curse his name. I simply hung up.
I really hate the fact that this is the ONLY ISP I can get in my complex when there are better options out there to be had. The only upside is they don't do data caps. Uncapped data is useless, though, if your connection is garbage. If you have the choice, I would STRONGLY recommend you avoid Charter/Spectrum. AT&T, Google Fiber, even Comcast (gasp!) are better options.

The guy upgraded my service and said that my router was sufficient for the speeds so no needing new equipment. He said to reset my router in 30 minutes and the speeds would be upgraded. So I did and they were, I was excited seeing the high 800s. Fast forward to now my internet has been slow this week so I reached out. I was told that my plan was ultra 400 and I said, "No. I upgraded back in March." She said, "No. The upgrade was cancelled for not picking up new equipment. I said, "I was never told about this. I want to speak to a supervisor." So the supervisor Halli comes and tells me that it was unsuccessful but not cancelled.
I’m so confused at this point and asking why did this happen as I was told it was done, my bills increased and speeds increased same day. She said it was never upgraded. They didn’t take any responsibility for the sales rep, instead the supervisor Halli said quote “Spectrum doesn’t contact customers for issues you contact us”. I said, "I didn’t know I had an issue, my service was upgraded. Why didn’t anyone call me to say I needed equipment or that it was cancelled or that problems arised? Nope, not a call, email or mail piece came for me." Instead she proceeded to deflect and blame me. I then asked to speak with a manager, they transferred me to a guy named Oak. He didn’t help, he just said he was submitting my feedback for coaching opportunities.
Moral of the story - Spectrum is a unprofessional company, who condones lies by the sales reps and management backs it up. They didn’t offer me any sort of resolution, no compensation for my bills, nothing at all but to pay 199 to upgrade to gig and to piss off essentially. I’m in Shelbyville Tennessee so not many internet providers around but don’t trust anything these people say, check your bills, double check everything. I have screenshots of all my interactions, including the March interaction about my upgrade and an email saying it was successful.
This company is disgusting. They don’t take accountability for their actions and lies, they deflect blame onto the customer. I’ve been a customer for over 2 years now, my next door neighbor is a spectrum worker as well. I then called again the day we moved to confirm I was told everything was set and the internet worked so I assumed we were good to go, a few days passed and my internet stopped working, so I called and they told me that they had my account in as ending service not transfer, and they would have to set me up with a brand new account, annoyed but I said okay, they had me “pay the balance” from my previous account prior to opening the new account I paid it and then we opened a new account. They insisted on me getting a new box so I went several days with no internet awaiting the new box.
Today several months later I received a letter from collections in the mail saying I had a balance from the old account of $122.45 so I called the company and was told it was for the new bill on the old account, and the person who set up my new account didn’t mention it because it wasn’t yet due upon closing said account, I would have paid whatever was due but I had no idea it was due. Originally with Time Warner Cable, they sold the cable service to Spectrum (their parent company is Charter). TWC kept my monthly bill the same (low) for Computer cable only. Don't have TV - don't want. When Spectrum (Charter) took over, they immediately raised my mo. bill by $10 month. Following year up $20 (same service haven't changed-Network only). While they continue to hound for TV service - don't want. I watch DVD's movies without interruptions and Youtube on my computers) Even though I have repeatedly told them not interested in their TV etc - they continue to increase yearly by $10-20 more for the same internet service. I have always had highest amt of cable. I do have Phone thru Google (free). But in all the network (for computers only) is still cheaper than being with a phone company like AT&T or other, where they add tons of extra services to it - very similar to Edison and other utilities. Add fees here and there.

We decided to give Charter/Spectrum another try after their salesperson offered us a few perks to do so. It has been almost a year now since we signed on, and I truly believe this company has gotten worse. We have had issue after issue with set top boxes, internet not living up to their big claims, and the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. Of course the salesperson is nowhere to be found and we have a 3 day wait time for our service call regarding the intermittent signal that we are experiencing again; and are just fed up with Spectrum. They are supposedly owned by Directv now and are making all of these improvements, but we have seen no sight of them? Shame on US for being fooled again. We are going to cancel our service (again) and will not make this hassle, time off work, overpriced mistake again.

However, when one e was unable to solve the connection problem, the other took the time to retrace what may have been missed during the repair. Yes, the second Technician found what the issue was. At times, there was no Internet connection. The cancellation of their service is a nightmare. They need you to call them, then you will be put on hold for an hour. Then they will try to upsell their service, simply put - "pay more if you need a better Internet connection."
Then they will almost immediately charge you for unreturned equipment. You will spend hours proving that you have returned it. There is only one phone number on their website www.spectrum.net/contact-us/, which you do not want to call again anyway. The other option is to "chat." When you do so, guess what? You will spend another hour waiting. Another hour reading their responses, and only at the end, will they tell you that you need to open a dispute with their customer care team and call some other number. You get the picture. I called Spectrum because they raised the price on my one year agreement prior to the agreement period ending. The rep talked me into buying 2 Apple TV's saying it would save me a lot of money. She lied and said that they came with Hulu Live and Netfix free. I asked her about my box with the DVR. She said this came with cloud which held more space and would save me $12.99/month, lied and never told me it's $10/monthly. Never informed me that 2 boxes aren't necessary. You can have 1 box and watch on the APP on the other TV. I asked her what if I did not like it and she NEVER informed me that once you opened the box you are stuck paying it in full. How do you know if you like something without trying it?
I spoke to 3 different supervisors who all lied as well. I was told that you cannot return opened Apple products. I called Apple and they said you can return within 14 days but I can't return it to them since I did not buy it there, but Spectrum can! The 1st 2 supervisors said that they could not listen back to the call which was a lie. They also mentioned about me signing electronically which is a lie because I did not. The 3rd listened and twisted my words and said that even if the rep misrepresented what it did and came with that I agreed to it because they sent an email and because inside the box it had a note that said if wanting to return, which I did not read since I did not know I wanted to return until I tried it and disliked it after seeing everything I was told was a lie. The email has a spot to sign the agreement, which I NEVER did sign. The way this entire thing was sold was unethical and based on lies and fraud.
I would like my money returned for both of these boxes so I can be done with this completely unethical, deceitful company. I could just refuse to pay my bills but I do not want to ruin my exceptional credit rating due to a horrible company that practices unethical tactics to rip off their customers. When I went to cancel this service I could not do it except by waiting on the phone for over an hour or driving to a Spectrum store (1 hour RT plus waiting in line).
When I asked why Spectrum made it so easy to add services but so hard to cancel them the associate had the nerve to claim that no changes to my account could be made without a representative talking directly to me. I pointed out that changes had been made to ADD service without my input and I got some kind of gibberish that was nonsensical. Obviously they want it to be very easy to agree to pay them more and as difficult as possible to cut your payment. I was also forced to sit through a sales pitch to try to sell me added services no matter how many times I asked her to stop and just process the cancellation. There were multiple diagnostic issues, since the extent of the damage to wiring, boxes, modems, splitters, amp was initially unknown. Jon S from Farmers Branch, TX Spectrum spent the time needed to discover the problems and resolve them. Additionally, he provided a way for me to make contact in case there were follow up issues. Saturday June 19th 2021....I go to Spectrum to pick up 2 cable boxes and add a phone line for my 90 year old Aunt. They said I can hook it up myself in her 100 year old house. Spent hours on the phone with tech support. Eventually they tell me I need a technician to come out to install a modem. They were suppose to make this an emergency work order because my Aunt doesn't know how to work her cell phone and her life alert is connected through the phone line. Set an appointment up for Sunday June 20th 2021. Customer Service transfers me to another department to order the modem. At this time, they give away the Sunday morning Appointment. Now the tech cannot come until Monday June 21 in the afternoon.
Tech comes Monday afternoon, and doesn't hook up the phone line but good news...she has cable. :(. I call CS (Customer Service) Monday, and he assures me I'm in good hands and he is switching things over from AT&T. CS told me he would call me Tuesday June 22nd because he works from 10am-7pm. I am still waiting on that helping phone call because he "cares" so much for the elderly! Tuesday Morning STILL no phone for my Aunt. Tuesday afternoon I call CS AGAIN...they said they are sending a tech out for an emergency work out...yep you guessed it, no Tech in sight. Wednesday June 23rd my mom calls this time! CS assured my mom that my 90 year old Aunt's phone would be on at 6am Thursday June 24th (today). Today...STILL no phone for my Aunt. My mom calls CS yet again (by this time we have talked to numerous "Supervisors" and numerous tech supports reps as well as numerous CS agents).
They are all horrible with different info. CS informs my mom that a technician will now be out tomorrow Friday June 25th between 3 and 4. My advice....IF YOU ARE ELDERLY OR LOOKING FOR GUIDANCE FROM SPECTRUM, DON'T GET THEIR SERVICE!!! IT WILL BE A TRAGEDY. DO NOT. USE. SPECTRUM. Are you one of those people who loves paying way too much to get about 10% of what you thought you were buying? Do you adore the customer service runaround of "Oh, that's going to be xyz department, I can't help you with that but I can transfer you"? And does it just tickle you to learn that after a month of NOT USING A SERVICE BUT STILL BEING CHARGED, a company "simply doesn't do refunds, we do credits but since you are discontinuing our service there's nothing I can do"??? Then, I guess maybe go with Spectrum.
I've paid $75/mo for speeds "up to 400mbps" for over a year now. Don't miss that sneaky "up to" - Spectrum sure won't. Over the past year, my speeds have been an average of about 20mbps. On a good day, off peak hours, maybe I'd score 46. More often than not though, I'd be working with a pathetic 7.99mbps or even 1.55mbps! This is with a modem reset, sitting on the couch literally three feet away from the modem/router.
Anyway, I finally got a new internet provider. Service was hooked up, and my Spectrum equipment disconnected, on May 24th. I noticed an autopay charge on my account for June, and it turns out my roommate hadn't called in to cancel the service. I figured I'll call and explain, since I'm barely a day past the bill cycle date and you can see on my account that there has been no usage or activity since before the end of the billing period.
I end up spending a couple hours trying to navigate all the customer service nonsense just to be told that Spectrum does not give refunds and would not give me the money back for the unused month of service. I tried everything, even pointing out that for well over a year I'd been getting less than 10% of the service I was paying for while they'd been getting 100% of my money (!!), and explained that I wasn't even trying to get into any of that, I just wanted my money back for the month of service I NEVER EVEN USED. Customer service rep told me that the billing cycle was from 5/28-6/27. My equipment and everything had been completely disconnected since 5/24. Are you serious, Spectrum? Worst service from a company I have ever experienced. Summary: Don't get Spectrum. If there's literally any other internet provider in your area, including dial-up, go with that. And if Spectrum is the only one in your area, move. You'll thank me later.
