I disconnected my service today on the 11th and they won’t prorate it and refund me the amount that I have already paid for so I don’t have service with them, but I have to pay through the 28th. Worst cable company ever.!

Service is not reliable. Up and down like a dolphin! Literally outages every day. Call customer service and they say “I will credit your account $2.66”. That doesn’t help me do my job remotely. When asked what is being done to improve resiliency of the service, "I’m sorry I don’t know" is the answer.

Spectrum is a lousy, uncaring company run like a nuthouse by the inmates themselves. There are so many outages, problems with international calls and no one ever knows anything. I wish I could give them zero stars.

Few instances in life have made me put priorities on hold and resort to writing to inform the general public what a travesty Spectrum truly is. I have nothing to really gain out of writing this review but would rest easier knowing that other folks and prospective customers truly know what they're getting themselves into by signing up.
Their customer service is the worst I have personally encountered in any business I have ever dealt with. The staff is woefully under-trained, uninformed, rude, short, and quite frankly...trash. Am I painting with a broad brush? Perhaps but each and every one of my experiences has been nightmarish. Our family has been a "valued member" since 1978, or so my monthly statement reminds me and I cannot believe the service this company now provides. 'Service' being the oxymoron in the previous sentence.
With just about each and every bill, your overall rate will increase. It's almost like a test really, pushing it and seeing how far they can raise their rates until you threaten them with disconnection. Sort of reminds me of dealing with the Mafia in a way...you'll pay us each and every month for the service you get AND LIKE IT. Have a complaint? Call one of our tough guys for some bullying and any other insult (as long as there is no cursing/foul language) being used. TOTAL debt collector, deadbeat mentality and zero training. Expect to be passed on and on and on, repeating the same account numbers, secret codes, and other nonsense until the genius your speaking with like Bob from Minnesota passed you along until you reach the ultimate big leagues, James from "upper management" who simply fails to solve any problems and just gets mouthy and more abusive. This is how they operate, or, at least, in my experience.
They wait until you've been passed around a bit and time wasted before they get the big guys out, again, hiding behind their keyboards, talking tough, attempting to sass you into submission. Sometimes you are simply re-routed to their 'retention department' where they attempt to "sweeten" the deal and offer a myriad of classic ploys like temporary rate reductions, addition of premium channels to your package...anything to inquire not only WHY you want to scrap their service(s) but even have the gall to up-sale an already irate customer into signing on for internet service and/or a cellular plan. I realize that retention departments within companies like this are nothing new and many, including DirecTV utilize the same strategies. I guess you can't blame them for trying, right? My beef is the quality, training, and education (or lack thereof) that your left to deal with.
After putting a LOT of thinking of writing such a scathing review of this company, I was faced with a two-pronged problem. Sure their service sucks and I can imagine everyone there would much rather be somewhere else than being inconsiderate or rude to griping customers. For this reason, I feel quite sad for these individuals. It's a call center. Very, very little education these folks seem hold and possibly have to take these types of jobs to support a family, an addiction, etc. It's all they're qualified to get.
On the other hand, I also believe some folks are just sociopaths and revel in arguing with already upset customers and just make matters worse. You know the types, the "big guys and gals" hiding in their cubicles, adorning their headsets, playing the bully role behind their keyboards and monitors. Think of a really, really nasty debt collector and you get the idea. Everyone has encountered this personality type/disorder and these folks seem to love creating chaos.
Sadly, I'm sure they don't leave this behavior at work at the end of the day and take it home to their family, relatives, drivers, and other members of the public where they continue to bully and demean.t It was at this juncture I began to think should I really just realize this and feel sorry for these broken, bitter individuals that chose or were forced into this line of work or should I really be furious for the treatment I receive by their customer service reps when I call to question a billing statement or report an issue?
For legal reasons, I have to disclose that this review is my opinion of Spectrum and my sole experience with the telecommunications company as it is of this writing (6/2025). That being said, there appears to so many problems that need addressed that they simply cannot do it or pathetically given up trying due to corporate greed.
Personally, I feel the need to attempt to explain to those considering Spectrum to perhaps give it a second thought. Sure, you can please all people all the time and I realize that. But as an ex-overpaying customer, please consider what you're stepping into, do your due diligence, and if nothing else, just Google the complaints and business tactics they stoop to, even to me, a valued customer since 1978.
It truly appears, at least to me, that they've hit rock bottom. And sadly, this is the politest and best way I know how to appeal to the general public to forgo plans on signing up with this horrific company. All I can do is warn you in earnest. I have no stake either way. Save yourself the disappointment and frustration. If you've made it this far, thank you for reading.

I have Spectrum for 6 years now. Their service has deteriorated by 90%. Every other day I have connectivity issues. You speak to about 10 spectrum folks before you can get something resolved and sometimes not. They came to my home and put in al land line. Totally screwed up my lighting system in my room. Now I have to keep the light on to make my Modem work. I call Spectrum the next day and they informed me that there is nothing they can do. As Soon as AT&T comes into my neighborhood, I am done with Spectrum. Signing off. NOT HAPPY CUSTOMER!

The last 6 or 7 months had been miserable. The internet goes down all the time. For people that depend on the internet for work deadlines, they suck. They lie and tell you it was under 2 hrs so you can't get a credit on the bill for all the days you had no service for half a day. They also started adding extra charges. We need more options to pick from in the 32714 area. They think because we have no options, they can rip everyone off, and oh course all the state office here allow all the companies to scan when ever they want. This whole county has gone to crap.

I wish I could give them a negative… I wish I could give them a negative number! I had their internet and TV/DVR service since 2018 as they were the only game in my area. Their DVR service OFTEN failed to record programed shows. I must have called them 10-15 times during those years and the problem was NEVER fixed. Often the programs that recorded were blurry and/or the sound was out of sync. The month that I let the service run out they failed to record 6 or 7 races I had programed so I cancelled on the last of the month. They sent me a bill for two months service because they said my billing cycle ended a few days before I cancelled. They want to charge me a full month for 4 days of service! Service which failed to record 6-7 programs!
They should have told me about this charge and I would have at least waited until the end of the next billing cycle. What about paying me for all the programs I paid to have recorded and didn't get to watch? I asked them for a phone number or address for my attorney to contact and they said they couldn't give me that information. WTH!?!? DON't use these POS's for ANYTHING!!!! They don't give a damn about their customers! There are many thousands of negative reviews on this site as well as YELP, Site Jabber, Best Comp and others. I will NEVER use any of their services again and my daughter and a neighbor have canceled theirs as well. That list will grow for sure. Spectrum doesn't know that every customer has at least 10 good friends and each of those friends have 10 good friends and so on. So because of their business practices they are losing much more than they are robbing me of.

I have been with them for over 10 years. The first 6 years I had constant disconnections. I called constantly to report no service, they would come out and give me new modems. Never did they check the wiring. Finally an employee rewired and I was able to get more consistent internet service. Then the rates more than doubled. I questioned the bill, they encouraged me to try the TV box, stating that if I didn't like it they would decrease my billing rate. I returned it, they kept my rate the same! Apparently there are 2 different rates: the box and the service.
Here's the catch: I called in the month after I returned it, the man explained the 2 different charges and he'd get it taken care of. A month later it was still on the bill. They won't credit me back even though it was obvious their employee didn't do the job. I'm happy to report there are other internet companies in my area, whereas it was a monopoly when I moved here. I will be leaving Spectrum this month.

I was Promised service several times, but no one showed up and no explanation. Expansion work not to be completed until October, but in may, they were promising service and setting up installation dates....why?? For one month, I wasted time dealing with trying to get service only to be continually lied to.... NOT HAPPY. Around September 28, 2022 my husband went into a local Spectrum office to bring back a router that was not working and he picked up a new one. The guy at the counter was advised to try to upsell and offered us TV free for 30 days. My husband told him no we weren’t interested because we use the sling app. All we use for spectrum is your Internet. After my husband told me about the conversation I called on 9/28/2025 to make sure it was not added and I said I do not want it. Please remove it because they told me yes he added it and I told him we did not want it. I already live in a HOA that has forced us to hook up with Bluestream so I already have to pay for that, but I kept Spectrum because I thought you had the better product.
Now after two times of saying no I don’t want TV and it is document except for the first guy at the office which falsified what my husband said, but my follow up call was done immediately. I have been overcharged for TV that I do not use to the tune of $992. I’ve been on the phone over 14 hours on Saturday and now Tuesday trying to get this resolved. I had one of your supervisors call me back and left a message saying she saw the er. She said it’s all documented, and they will credit me the amount. Now it’s still showing up on my bill. I see no credit and I can’t keep paying for service that I never want in the first place nor never used. I have a recorded call telling me you overcharged me. And I have her voicemail saying they were going to credit me and correct my bill.

Our son had internet service for five years with Spectrum. Due to a move, we called to have service disconnected and to return the equipment. First issue is they said we did not return all the equipment which we had including every cord we bought and the remote. Took pictures of the equipment and dropped if off with a return receipt from the UPS store. Finally got that resolved then get a bill for 110.00 for service today for service from May 13-June 12. When we called to have service disconnected, I even asked about the bill and was told it would be prorated for the dates used. We disconnected everything for May 23 and returned it all. Today I contact them and get an "sorry we don't prorate the service". Had I known that I would have left the service on until the final move on June 3. I feel like they tell you what they think you want to hear. Would not use this provider again.

THEY LIE! T-Mobile rightfully warned me they were lying to me when they told me my mobile rate was forever. I haven't even been with them for two full weeks before I get an email saying "my discount is being discontinued" after I was told it was forever. I called and they said it was in the agreement I signed, I said you mean the small print no one reads? It contradicted what I was explicitly told as a direct answer to a direct question. Not only that but the thieves stole half of a month of service I did not receive because I canceled them, they said, "No, they keep it all, no prorating back to customer." In my book that is stealing. Taking money for a service not provided. I hope they go out of business. BTW I had 300mbs and it was constantly buffering with only two TVs on. They are liars and thieves. I wouldn't go back to them unless they paid me.

Although I've been a Spectrum customer for many years, I feel that this company does not know how to respect the wishes of their customers. Warning about Spectrum's cancellation dept. After my rate went up, I called to see if they had any specials I could take advantage of. The CS rep said "NO", that's the price. So I did my due diligence and found Frontier to be a better fit for my needs. I got 400mb more and cost $20 less. Then I got a letter from Spectrum after I returned the equipment and they said my account was still active and open even after I spoke to a CS rep again in the "Customer Solution Dept." Today, I've had to waste another 30 minutes to go over the same info and hear the same script before they will cancel my subscription. I'm frustrated and not happy with this service.

An upgrade to Spectrum equipment was a huge downturn for the customer. Spectrums new guide with the new top box is not user friendly. Unless you have all the channel numbers/networks/show times memorized. There basically is no search feature available unless you go up or down in numerical order, one channel at a time, page up or down not available. No time/date feature available any longer, and no previews of shows available. No setting watch reminders available, and I've yet to find how to restart to the beginning of a show. It will rewind to the last commercial and no further.
So, if you know your networks along with the corresponding channel number and what time shows are available you'll be in the know. The rest of us are searching for the old fashioned TV guide printed each week with the carrier schedule or the old guide back. I'm going to be missing so many shows that I'm so use to watching. Very unhappy customer. This review only received a one star because a 0 is not available.

I’ve had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with Spectrum. Back in September 2022, I clearly told the agent over the phone that I only wanted mobile and internet service. Instead, they added Spectrum Voice (a home phone service I never asked for or used) and pressured me into signing up for a TV package, falsely claiming I needed it to receive a promotional deal. I don’t even own a home phone, and no one ever asked if I use one. Later, I found out I was being billed for these services I never used — Voice, TV, and even a WiFi fee that was added without explanation and kept increasing. Despite never using TV at all (especially after moving), I was still charged for it.
Every time I called to fix these issues, I was passed from agent to agent, with long hold times and no real help. The supervisors even suggested I pay extra for better internet, ignoring my concerns. They could clearly see I had never made a single call using the phone service — the virtual phonebook and call history were completely empty — yet no one offered to remove the service or issue a refund. One supervisor rudely told me it doesn’t matter whether I use the service — if it’s on the bill, I have to pay for it. That’s completely unacceptable.
After I got a small partial refund from my bank, Spectrum began calling and messaging me constantly, saying I owed them over $300. This level of harassment after all the stress and financial loss is shocking. I’ve now canceled Spectrum’s internet service and filed a formal dispute. I’m sharing this to warn others: check your bills closely and do not assume you’re getting only what you requested. What was sold to me as a “promotion” ended up being an expensive, deceptive trap.Besides all above internet & especially mobile services extremely poor, as you can see on the one pic.

Date 5/4 ordered called Spectrum/Charter 866-782-2681 inquire about transferring from Cox Mobile to Spectrum/Charter Mobile. After being on the phone with an agent for an hour he said he will have a new phone with all the equipment included shipped to me because he couldn't use the phone I purchased from Cox. I was guaranteed the delivery by 5/6/25. The delivery was late. Arrived on 5/7/25, refurbished and missing a charger & a device operator manual which I had received with my current phone with Cox.
After calming down a few days. I called Spectrum/Charter spoke with manager Jeffrey who emailed me a QR code to return the cell phone that was still in the box. He said he was going to waive a stock charge. I went to the nearest FedEx to return the item on 5/10/25. They told me to call Spectrum/Charter back to get a regular return label and not a QR code label. Spectrum/Charter said they can't that I had to drive 25 miles away to a FedEx print N pack store. Before I shipped the cell phone I took pictures because I didn't trust Spectrum/Charter since they lied about the cell phone having all the equipment with it & being new.
On 5/19/25 I received a notification from Spectrum/Charter that they received the return. Then on 5/21/25 I received an email that the device was damaged with a scratch on the screen. I replied with the photos of the phone when it was delivered at the FedEx store still in it's packaging. I called Spectrum/Charter to dispute the claim with manager named Justin. I asked several times for and email to forward the photos too and they claimed they didn't have any. They didn't have a contact to the warehouse, billing dispute department to speak to anyone or email the photos to. So I emailed all Spectrum/Charter corporation contacts and attached the photos and terminated the call because I was going round and round. Something told me to check my bank account since I only ordered WiFi with Spectrum/Charter and not mobile. They illegally withdrew $134.95 and another charge of $24 +.
My debit card isn't on autopay for WiFi and I don't have a phone mobile service with Spectrum/Charter. My phone and phone number belongs to Cox cable and hasn't been transferred. I called Spectrum/Charter Billing to dispute the charge and let them know they illegally withdrew funds from my account for mobile service or device I don't have activated and that was cancelled on 5/10/25. They couldn't even explain the charges. They refused to except the pictures of the phone in its package at the FedEx store they sent me too. Now I must go to the bank to get another card. Cancel out the card they illegally withdrew from. This company is cold hearted. See BBB review for all the similar scams, charges, poor treatment of new customers. What world does a company illegally take money for product keep the product and the service and think a consumer wouldn't dispute it.

I let my son set up the phone for his use. He tried several times to import his number from Tracfone. He was not successful. So he gave the phone back to me and said never mind. A few weeks past I tried to set up the phone to give it to my grandson. When I went on the spectrum app, the phone did not show up, but my bill was a lot more. I called Spectrum. They said the phone had been deactivated. They said my son had deactivated the phone. Not true. The phone had never been activated.
Spectrum says they cannot fix the problem. I have to pay the total amount due for the purchase of the phone. I never activated it, it’s never been used. So now I can’t afford to pay the bill because I am disabled. I tried to explain to them that they did not listen. Either pay the total amount due or my service would be disconnected. After calling we were told that that channel has been moved into a package that we did not subscribe to. For an additional $15 a month we could get that channel again along with some other channels we did not care about. The problem is why did they take something away that a long standing customer has been getting and then try to price gouge them to get something they have had all along. Where is the customer loyality? Why should we stay with Spectrum when they can take away channels without notice and hold you hostage to pay more money.
We are currently paying in excess of $200 per month for internet and cable TV and now they want $15 more to give us back one channel that we already had. We get far better loyalty from our cell phone provider Tmobile who recognizes the value of retaining customers. When we call them for help they try to give us what we need and they appreciate our loyalty as a long standing customer. Spectrum is no longer a monopoly. You do have lots of competition and young people are totally rejecting traditional cable in favor of streaming services and free TV. You guys don't get it. Additionally, your old stand by customer base of Boomers will be leaving too due to high cost, lack of service and lack of customer loyalty. This is a big economic area for Spectrum, not small town. Had to leave at least one star - would prefer to use zero. We opted for the phone buyout option to switch to Spectrum and have been fighting for months to actually get the buyout money - then they just stopped even responding to our complaints. Our patience is at an end with this. T-Mobile (our "old" carrier) does not show the phone numbers, just the IMEI number on the close out bills. Spectrum will not recognize them - they say they can only recognize phone numbers. They just give you the runaround and avoid actually coming through with the buyout money they promised. Never did see the money.
The thing is they transferred our phones over to Spectrum before telling us that we had to pay them off at TMobile first. So we were stuck without phones until we paid them off. We even showed them a screen capture of our phones showing them the IMEI number and phone number. Nothing could be done at the local store - it all had to be done over the phone. So they made themselves inaccessible, and made the conditions impossible to meet, so no buyout money. Spectrum put a return filter on my service line without me knowing. This means that it will interrupt the service line that it's on BECAUSE something in THAT line is causing issues for other users (this is a condo building). I had no internet, called it in and it turns out that the LINES were so old (running from the outside box to our unit), that "maintenance" put a "return filter" on my line and never called us.
I called customer service for a credit and they said that they can only offer a "courtesy credit" for being such a dedicated customer. This comes from DREW on the "leadership team". When I had asked for the full credit from the dated tag, he said that he "can't work on hypotheticals" (return filter was not in the service call notes). I was given two options: 1- the courtesy credit of $25.80 or a 1-day credit for the service call. When I said "that it didn't make sense not to credit our account for the time that it was down", DREW said that "it sounds like you're declining the courtesy credit and that I [Drew] would be happy to apply the $5 one-day credit. Drew is not good at his job if the goal is actual customer support and problem solving without being a wise-guy/patronizing. 1- Terrible service 2- Terrible leadership 3- Awful customer appreciation
I've been with them for 15-years, has gone from $42+-/mo to 88/mo and they gave me $25.80 on an $88/mo bill. The return filter was dated 04/12 (tagged). It wasn't in Williams notes though (the guy at the service call), so they wouldn't offer a credit for the actual downtime. SPECTRUM is hands down among the absolute, most horrible, terrible, worst internet providers out there on every level. We have NO other options with where we are located so they've got us cornered. There has never been a time that their service has been better than fair. If you have options, the "other option" has GOT to be better, so use ANY other option.

We bought a home in Indian Wells and did a "takeover" of the existing customers account...at least we thought we did. Women from New York spoke to the existing customer at the same time she was on the phone with me and supposedly made all of the arrangements. Turns out she created a new account and sent a new modem for us. We had to cancel our first trip to this new winter home and called to have the account put on "seasonal". Spoke to two different people and they supposedly arranged for this. Two hours later we got an email saying the account was cancelled.
When I called back to get it straightened out, the supervisor I spoke with said there was nothing they could do to reactivate the takeover and I would have to sign up for a new account. This was after 70 minutes on the phone with them. I was out of state and would have had to hire a third party cabling contractor to set up all new equipment even though the house is already fully equipped. The supervisor, "Kim" from St Louis just defended all of the mistakes they made as staff being "misinformed" and offered no apology. We will be looking elsewhere for our internet and TV coverage and cannot ever recommend Spectrum.

Constant service area outages, needing to reset the router at least 3 times per week, and just flat out not working. When I finally switched, they charged me for an extra month of service (I ended service March 28th, and they charged me for month of April on 4/4). I called to speak with a representative and she told me that I should not have been charged but they couldn’t do anything until the payment posted. When I called back after the payment posted, the next woman told me that I was incorrect and they would be keeping my $80 (mind you I signed up for a deal that was $55/month with no price changes for two years). In not so many words, they told me to go kick rocks and they would be keeping my money. Absolute scam artists all the way through, with a terrible product. There’s a reason it’s so much cheaper than the rest of the options.

They made it extremely difficult to make this simple change that included having the call transferred to an account specialist whose job it is to convince you to keep the service. After that, they place you on hold for quite awhile. We had to go through this process twice - Is Spectrum really that desperate for our $25/month??

Got yelled at from the Newburgh NY , was told they don't offer that deal....and was evasive when asked about contacting the district manager. Got the district managers info from another store. Was reassured from district manager, then regional manager (after settling for less than promised to at least make us whole), still waiting. We paid off old phones to get "the deal". Over 6 months and nothing but excuses. COST WAS MORE TO GET THE BETTER DEAL. NOT TRUE FOR US. OH! Also had to go to another store 20 minutes away for service to avoid this store...which was a temporary glitch in the cellphone (don't think the glitch was spectrum). Was also sold pods to boost wifi signal in the house which didn't seem to help.
The original sales person was contacted by the store to confirm what he offered and confirmed what we were offered. (Salesman was told the offers he gave us were not accurate)...yet still absolutely no resolution and stuck again in a contract. Finally....didn't wanted new cell phones but had to get new cell phones for the offer. Only thing we wanted was to make sure we could transfer the cellphones to other companies after our contract is over...I'm sure that was a lie also to get us to purchase a more expensive cell phone. The online response received was "sorry we didn't live up tp YOUR expectations"...the issue really is they don't live up to their own promises...NOT MINE. I don't make the promises and services. I had Spectrum for one year at my new home. I planned to switch to a different carrier after my introductory period was up due to the significant increase in price. I called Spectrum and a representative stated he could keep me on the introductory rate for another two years and decrease my cost by switching me to Xumo Stream Box. One week later I was receiving an error code on the TV and had to call. I was told by this representative that the person I spoke with a month prior had failed to add all of the correct equipment needed for the Xumo box. There was nothing I had to do. They corrected it at their end but my bill would go up. It did. The next month my rate increased again, the introductory price changed. My bill ended up right back where it would have been after my initial introductory period.
With Spectrum I had frequent outages due to weather, service updates and other unknown reasons. Spectrum wants you to bundle everything. you may not need or want a home phone but to get a cheaper bundle you end up with a home phone line. They are really into bundling everything. I canceled my service at Spectrum 1 1/2 days into my new billing cycle and had to pay for service I wasn't receiving. That's Spectrums policy. I returned my equipment to the Spectrum Store and now suddenly they can't find the Xumo Box. The Store doesn't give you a receipt! That comes from the warehouse! The Store was able to put in a request to search for the box at the warehouse. If it's not found of course I will be charged.
I have never seen such poor customer service anywhere. I would never recommend Spectrum to anyone. It seems they tell the customer what they want to hear and do something totally different. I have had no glitches, no outages, no problems at all with my new service. We have had severe weather in our area thunder storms and high winds my new service stayed on without problems. Spectrum on the other hand has outages as I write this review due to the same severe weather.

My dad has been paying Spectrum $288 for services for years. After hours on the phone with Spectrum I finally got authorized to speak on his behalf. This involved stressing my dad out with several calls. After I was authorized I learned that Spectrum recently convinced him to get a mobile phone added to his account. He already has a mobile phone on my acct and he had no idea what they were asking him to do. After a one minute conversation with him it is apparent to anyone that he has dementia so there is no reason for anyone to think it is okay to push him into buying more services.
In addition, after I was added to the account each person I was transferred to asked for a pin code, this process involved calling my dad on his home phone and he had to read a number to them each time. (4 times!) This was a long painful process and really stressed my dad out. My dad thinks the home phone is the remote so it was very stressful for him to find it and answer it. I’ve been stuck with the monopoly of Spectrum internet and home phone service for 6 years now and every year, without fail, there’s been one inconvenience after another, from slow-to-no service and some of the densest “Customer Support” imaginable. And every year, a price increase, without any advance notice or tangible justification. As a matter of fact, every time the price increases, the service level decreases.
Internet/WiFi slows, in spite of claims of improvement. I’m seeing the old “buffer” notice like in the “dial-up” days. Home phone service is a sometimes service. I’ve missed calls because of no incoming, I have my own answering machine so that I can hear when a message is being left by the caller where with Spectrum, I have to check my e-mail for notification, then log into my account on the sub-par internet service to check for messages.
All will work well with the phone service for a while and then, suddenly, for no apparent reason, Spectrum’s “answering” will cancel my home machine so that there’s NO out-going message letting callers know that there IS an answering device. What they hear is absolutely nothing AND my machine won’t record for some reason.
I’m constantly “re-setting the equipment”, but it’s an effort in futility. Recently I was told that I needed an “up-grade” which would be provided “at no cost”. Spectrum sent me a new modem and router, all was installed, worked well and on the very next bill came an increase. “Service improvements” was the reason I received when I contacted Spectrum directly.
The spectrum.net web-site is, essentially, non-functional in that “settings” for service most often result in notice: “We are unable to up-date records, set preferences, modify service”. “Call block” of annoyance calls is non-functional. Trying to stop Spectrum “voice-mail” is impossible and on a recent “chat” I was told “Your answering device is competing with Spectrum voice-mail.” It never “competed” before recently. I’ve had the same “device” for 5 years with no trouble. “You have to disconnect your device and change your telephone.” was the “solution” offered by Spectrum “customer service”.
The increases are, on average, 6 dollars monthly, compounded over the course of 6 months to a year, and as I say, no “advance notice”, no reason, no customer consideration. Contacting Spectrum is a complete waste of time because “options” offered are “pay the rate or drop the service” and again, they’re a monopoly in rural areas. It’s blatant abuse and if not actually so, “borderline theft”. Equally, it’s utter disregard for customers/individuals.
A thorough investigation and audit of the company and practises by local, state and federal authorities is WELL PAST DUE! I’ve scoured the internet for “reviews” on the company and have found the VAST MAJORITY of other Spectrum customers are suffering the same or similar abuses. I’ve spoken with neighbours who are also trapped by the monopoly of Spectrum and have yet to hear a positive comment. I will be pursuing actions with our local, state and the federal authorities with the hope that Spectrum’s monopoly will be legally ended and reparations issued to customers in view of the absolute disrespect and abuse suffered, for many, over years.

Spectrum is the worst internet provider in New York City. This company arbitrarily increases internet service fees without reason or notification. I had to physically go into a store to return my old router and pick up a new one, which was actually two separate units and significantly bigger than my original one that was conveniently concealed behind my sofa. When picking up the new equipment, the in-store rep also told me I was overpaying for my service, and he told me I needed to call in and request a lower rate whenever it is increased.
Given that every phone call with a customer service agent is 45-60 minutes, I dread these calls. I ultimately, canceled my service with this provider after not using the new equipment, and they refused to refund me for the unused service. Despite paying for 500 mbps, I rarely receive speeds above 200 mbps. Recent outages have been attributed to the onsite technician's improper installation of wiring. Although another technician was dispatched to rectify the issue, the problems persisted within a month.
Furthermore, I am charged hundreds of dollars for a service that I am unable to utilize consistently. When I request a credit on my bill, I am informed that I must experience an outage lasting at least four hours to be eligible for compensation. The service's unreliability is compounded by subpar customer service. In comparison, the service provided by Bright House Networks, the company's predecessor, was far superior. Never mind the cost of Charter is so outrageous. We had a hurricane. It destroyed our county. Power and cable was out a month. Water 2 months, for some 4 or longer. Water and electricity helped and gave us a month for free. Not Charter. Duke Energy gave us credit but not Charter. I called to ask, was told it wasn’t their fault we didn’t have power so it wasn’t their problem. Great company. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. Thankfully I have gotten my family to drop them. Now for the rest of the world. Get rid of Charter Spectrum. There are so many cheaper better options.

Pleasant and personable from the start, she listened and spoke clear English, also made me feel good that they are here in US!! She let me know my introductory price expired and I was and all customers are eligible every year for new promo. It is a slight inconvenience to remember to call in but after the agent I got it is was awesome experience start to end! She raise my speed from 400 to 500 mbps and bill went down by $31!!!! Also provided me a direct number to call in 11 1\2 months to get new promo before this one expires. **.

We moved into an apartment for six months, and unfortunately, the only internet provider available was Spectrum. Initially, we signed up for the 300 Mbps plan but consistently received around 100 Mbps at best. After calling support twice, they said there was "nothing they could do." While the service wasn’t great, it was manageable—until it got worse.
Over time, speeds dropped to 50 Mbps or less. Since we work from home, this made joining Teams meetings nearly impossible. I called again, and they sent a technician who replaced the modem, but it didn’t improve anything. Once again, I was told there was nothing they could do. Eventually, I had to start going to the office because the connection was so unreliable.
When our lease was almost up, I called to cancel. As soon as I mentioned canceling, I was hung up on by multiple agents. Finally, someone stayed on the line and processed the cancellation, but the service somehow got worse—a week before we moved, we had no internet at all. When I called again, they claimed I needed another new modem, even though the technician had just replaced it.
I ended up speaking with a supervisor named Noul (he said his name was "kinda like Noel"). After I explained everything, his response was, "I see you're canceling your service next week... is there anything else I can help you with?" I couldn’t help but laugh. He then closed the conversation with, "Thank you for being the best part of Spectrum."
This experience was beyond frustrating. Not only did I waste money on subpar service, but the lack of accountability and dismissive attitude from support was infuriating. The least they could have done was apologize or offer a refund. I will never live in a place that only offers Spectrum and will actively warn friends and family to avoid doing business with them. This was an absolutely horrible experience that I won’t forget.

We agreed on $56.99/month for 2 years. 1 year through the contract they went up $3 and said that the Wifi equipment charge went up and that was a separate fee. I consider that unfair and unprofessional. I myself have a business and when I agree on a price to charge a customer I honor that price even if my expenses go up. That's just part of having a business.

Spectrum bandits! They really need to look at their cable TV lineup and see that people don't need to pay for 23 HBO channels, 20 something Showtime channels, etc! All of the channels broadcast are in HD clarity anyway with HD ready TVs on the market, so why does Spectrum need to put the same channels in the 400 and 800 numbers when the same channels are already HD ready from 2-200. What's the point of a Xumo box when Roku has the same streaming apps including Spectrum TV on them? Or TV being sold on the market has the streaming apps built in? Paying wayyyy too much for unwanted channels my family and I don't even need.
If they want to keep customers happy, they should just dump the TV packages and let customers pick out channels they want and make ALL of them eligible for an a la carte. Seriously, Spectrum doesn't need to create channels in the 2000s that show the news in New York, or news in Dallas, or news in Kentucky, etc. There are streaming apps for that like Tubi (which is free) where if I wanted to know the news in a different city bad enough, I could flip on them. Frequent outages are becoming more and more. I'm paying 88 a month for internet service that goes out more frequently than ever.
Overall, I'm paying 362 a month for this service for things I really don't need and for less than reliable internet connections. How could they take a good user interface and make it so so bad I will never understand and some features on the old cable box are no longer available like slow motion. And information is missing like movies used to have a 4 star rating system which was displayed with the movie and info about the movie but none of that is there anymore. I paid 143 and Change this included 20.00 activation, 39.99 for service on two phones and repair plan 5.00 taxes. My husband wanted a phone so I paid device 33.$$ activation and taxes came to 205.$$ My one daughter was only15 dollars because of the promotion. The rep said I was paying my first month in advance. I asked him did that mean June was covered and he said yes. My bill cycle was may 23rd to June 22. And my due date the 12th of every month and I'd receive my first official bill for July. Here is where this all started. So June 233d to July 22 due july 12th was 178$$. I paid July 3rd. That was JULY bill. So I go on the website to look at my next bill July 23 to August 22nd. This is August bill! I look at it and it says I have a previous balance remaining balance if 178.$$ I they said I owed 224.$$.
I did make changes one kiddo wanted an up grade so on I ordered her a phone. 23.05 device payment plus the taxes came to 91.$$ my other kiddo wanted a phone Too. They said the payment didn't go through. So on July 20th I ordered her a phone, she received the device and activated it on July 24th. My billing cycle runs July 22 to August 23. Due August 12. But they added her phone and device payment to the June 23rd to July 22 bill. I disputed this. Even though they we able to go into the previous cycle and add the charge I was told I couldn't get credit for the device payment until the next bill.
I was advised to pay the 224.$$ and I would get credit next bill. I was still mad and didn't pay my August bill was due August so until August 26th and they applied the payment August 29th. By now my sept bill statement is out for August 23 to Sept 22 due Sept 12th. I look at my bill it says 449.$$ is due. They haven't applied the 224. Then I log on again and it says I owe 398! My August 23 to Sept 22 bill was 199.95.$$. Every time I would go online it was something different Iit was different so I paid sept 25th the 199.$$$$ so my next bill's bill Sept 23 to Oct 22 was 197.99 I paid it on and it processed it was due Sept 26th and I have a text meat to confirm it.
Next billing cycle would be Oct 23 to Nov 22. Due Nov 12th. But if I I to the website and again said I owed paid it Oct 13th and it processed. Then I look online and it said I owed 198.20 due Oct 13th…HOW. My cycle is the 23 to the 22. I paid Sept 23 to Oct 22 already! So Oct 23 I paid 198.20. This covers my Oct 23rd to Nov22. Now the website says I owe 199.99 due November 12. And that this payment is for my Oct billing cycle. That's lie. If I pay on nov12 I would be paying for November to dec. When I call the reps keep saying that the payments I made were for previous months. Lie July to August is one month.
Remember I paid for June already. August to September is two months sept to Oct is three months Oct is not over. I asked why have I made 5 payment in three months and not one single rep tells the t truth. They all say the payment are for the months before. But it still doesn't answer why I have made 5 payment in 3 months. One rep had nerves and balls to say for me to think that wen it says hue 23 to July 22 I'm paying June. That makes no sense they bill in advance not behind. So if she wanted me to think on June 23 to July22!ns as my June bill. I paid June already when I started service May 23 to June 22. I find it odd I can't get a paper bill. Someone keeps turning on international roaming and I have charges. They always dismiss it. NONO.
My billing charges don't add up. They lumped me and my two daughters' lines together and list my husband separate. They list 39.99 +39.99 plus my other daughter with the discount as 10.0 and 89.99 then my husband 30. So in August changed me and one on my daughters to 30$ plan so 30 + 30 + 10 is 70 bit they say it's 89.99 still then my husband 30 and when I brought this up within two hours it we changed to reflex me 30 my kiddo30 and my husband 30 at 89.99 and list my other kiddo separately as 10.00. I have NEVER resented and felt so hateful towards the way I have been treated by my Spectrum carrier in all the decades I have had a mobile service. I joined spectrum when I moved into their territory about a year ago. I had been happy with the internet service and TV plan for the primary reason if you call them, someone actually answers the phone. So, after a while I switched to their mobile plan.
In either June of July ('24) I purchased a new Samsung Flip Z 6, in the store located oh HWY 64 in Sarasota. There was a trade in deal going on for $700 on this specific phone. Since they did not have it in stock, the salesman placed the order for me. I never realized that would place me as some third-class citizen for helpful service. But besides that, the salesman screwed up the input and I never got credit for the $700 trade in. Apparently, since it was now considered ordered online, the ONLY way this could be fixed (three levels up to supervisor on the phone) is to credit my account for time to work off my credit. OK, I will live with it.
Fast forward four months and the phone dies. completely dies. I call spectrum, and after another very long call with representative who tells me they can order me a replacement BUT if I go into a UBreak,IFix store, they could help me and repair, since it is under warranty. I hung up and called the local Fix store and turns out they could not help me. Now, I must start ALL over on the phone with Spectrum. The next rep tells me I’m out of luck and there is no warranty, I’ll need to purchase a new phone. OMG! I then go back into the store I purchased from and the representative agrees the phone is dead and he will take care of ordering me a new one, since it is under warranty. It will take two business days. OK, I can live with that. He then reactivates a previously owned phone so i can have phone service. That was this past Sunday.
Yesterday, (Friday), I called Spectrum to see where the heck is my phone. The rep is very nice, says the phone was never ordered (!!). She will take care of this and order, since it is under warranty. BUT in order for her to do this, she will have to deactivate the existing phone, reactivate the bad phone to place this order and then in about five minutes, the de-activated phone will re-activate. OK.... Of course, the phone never re-activates.
Today is Saturday. I JUST left the exact same retail spectrum store, and they tell me now I have to deal with Samsung because it is only under warranty with Samsung. And there is only a 14-day return/replacement with Spectrum. I do not recall ever having an insurance conversation with the original salesman and since it turned into such an ordeal, I didn't think of it on my own, I was focused on getting through the order, and did not ask. Again, I have had a mobile phone for many decades and always carried insurance with my previous carrier. Now, I'm told it's not their place to help me anymore. I also want to add there is a particular female employee in that store and every time I have come there talks to me as if I am LYING about all the conversations I have gone through. Seriously? This Company is too big for their britches. I have been into their office to pay my bill 5 times and turned away every time because they say they can't take cash. It is federal currency. They have to take it. I had the same problem a couple months before while trying to return my equipment because they would not take my payment. Ran into the manager that time and she apologized and took my payment. She also told me If they refused again, I was to contact her. Didn't get a number.
The last time I went in I was put on their waiting list. My name came up and they deleted it and took the next person in line. I asked for the manager's information and they gave me her name and a phone number that went to Texas. I am NOT in Texas and when I called them they could do nothing. I told them to come and get their equipment because I have been out of my way to go there 5 times and they do not want to take my money. I am not going there again. They can look on their waiting list to see I TRIED to pay. This is NOT the way to run a company. The way you can find miserable large companies is to try to contact anyone to help. Spectrum is absolutely horrid and I am so glad we ditched them for Fastwyre Fiber in May of this year. Our internet when we had Spectrum would either become unbearably slow or cut out constantly, it depended on the day. We rarely ever got even a quarter of Spectrum's promised speeds, and sometimes we got less than a single megabyte, both download and upload. Customer Service was never of any help to us and talked to us like they were reading a script and told us the same "pin in the router" method we have heard from the other tens of dozens of reps we already spoke to. Nothing Spectrum ever did regarding our internet made it better. In fact, sometimes it made it even worse.
One time, one of the tech guys they sent out replaced one of the routers they rented us with yet another router they rented us with, and within the first 5 minutes of the new router being installed and connected we were immediately hit offline and from that point on, for a good while, our internet cut out twice as frequently. There are times I couldn't even browse the internet at all and about 99% of websites refused to load. If they didn't refuse to load at all, they would take an eternity to fully load with Spectrum's slow as a snail speeds. But, guess what? We were still expected to pay over $100 a month for their service, especially when it was either out or insanely slow most of the time.
Even streaming TV became a total nightmare at one point. Watching live streams became impossible, even turning down the quality did not stop the constantly amount of buffering. I was, at on pion, getting buffering even 10 or so seconds and I had to leave the stream entirely, as it became borderline unwatchable. I could not even use a single streaming service, either. Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus. Not even their own Spectrum Originals they were boasting about and promoting like wildfire. I couldn't even watch their original programming, either.
The terrible speeds made it, quite frankly, a fruitless endeavor to continue to try to. The only one I was even able to watch at one point, all the way through, was Curfew. Y'know, the one 'race for your freedom' Spectrum original that was basically Death Race meets The Purge? Yeah, that one. Quite frankly the only original show from Spectrum I actually cared about anyway, so I didn't miss out on much. And oh boy, their cable subscription was total dogwater. Three tiers - Silver, Gold, and TV Select. All of them are garbage cable plans. No TV channels you want, but a thousand channels you don't even care for.
Our local Spectrum got rid of INSP at one point and replaced it with GRIT TV. No, they didn't move INSP to another channel, they straight up got rid of it and took it off of their cable lineup entirely. They no longer offered the channel on our service, only this stupid GRIT channel with nothing but random Western shows that we didn't care about. Meanwhile, INSP actually had shows we cared about and actually liked. The only other channel that had retro shows that we liked was MeTV, which they thankfully never took off. In fact, I am pretty sure they are still offering MeTV on their service, too, unlike INSP. And on top of removing channels and replacing them with useless filler channels no one cares about, contract disputes can take entire networks of channels offline.
We had two of them while we were with Spectrum. Two contract disputes, with two different companies. We had one with Viacom (now Paramount Global) that was going to take all Viacom-relating channels offline such as Nick, Nick Jr., and TeenNick. This one never came into fruition and Spectrum reached a long-term agreement with Viacom before the blackout date arrived. I cannot say the same for Tribune Broadcasting. Their channels actually went offline, which included our local Fox 4 news channel. And let me tell you, Chiefs fans were furious because they wanted to see them in the Playoffs. While we as Chiefs fans were also undeniably upset, we were also upset we could no longer get traditional news on TV. It took a long time before Charter and Tribune came to an agreement. And most importantly, there was one time that we did not have any service for an extended period of time.
On one random day in October 2020, all of our Spectrum service went down without warning. We did not have access to any part of our service. Our phone was out, our internet was out, and our cable was out. It was a total blackout of our service. We could not use the phone to make calls, we could not go online and browse the internet, and we could not even simply watch TV. It was a total service blackout, everything went offline. This extended outage lasted for a total of over 3 whole hours.
In that time, we could not do anything. It would have been nice if we were given a heads up first if it was just simple maintenance for our area. Nope, we couldn't even call Spectrum's customer support to find out what was going on since our phone service was down. We just had to sit there and wait for Spectrum to get up off of their butts and actually do something. Our service was thankfully restored over 3 hours later, but I know some other people might not be as lucky as I was. Some of you Spectrum customers have outages that have or are lasting for a week, or even a month, and I feel really bad for you. And despite that, we were still expected to pay over $100 a month. One time, our bull exceeded $300 on the day it was due because of course it did, and that was when we had Spectrum Cable.
We had to cut cord on their cable subscription at one point since it was eating away at our savings. But even with cable out of the picture, we were still paying over $120 a month just for basic internet and phone service. But, the good news is that I am no longer a Spectrum customer. On the very first day of May this year, we were finally able to disconnect our Spectrum internet and welcome Fastwyre Broadband’s fiber internet into our home. And let me tell you, switching was the best decision we have ever made.
Our bill has never been increased as far as I am aware, and the internet has constantly and consistently been up every single day with no outages, that is, until the middle of the night when most of us are all sleeping. But, it usually takes them less than 10 minutes to get it back up, and then it’s working again. And our speeds? Absolutely incredible. We have always hit over 800 megabits per second both download and upload. Every single time. Almost a gigabyte in speeds every time.
We have only had our Fastwyre fiber for a little over 4 months at this point and they have truly been a breath of fresh air. A thousand times better than what Spectrum could ever muster. And as soon as we dumped Spectrum for Fastwyre, they have constantly sent us junk mail in a desperate attempt to get us back by offering huge price discounts and promotions for being a long-time customer. And every time, we just laugh and throw their envelopes into the bin. It’s laughable they ever think that will get us back. In short, they're awful and if you don't already have them, definitely avoid them at all costs.

Just moved to Kentucky from the Chicagoland area. Needed internet service so I called Spectrum. Worst decision I ever made and I think the general public needs to know what kind of nonsense they are getting into before calling this place. First, just to sign up and order internet they had me on the phone for over an hour. I’m still scratching my head as to why I lost that entire hour just to sign up. There were a lot of “ums” and “let me see here’s” and intermittent silence. I was asked my name and address a half a dozen times and then… finally… I’m a new customer. Great so tomorrow when the website populates I can activate my modem and router I bought and I’m good to go. Yep, it’s all self directed in the app she says.
Next day I’m hooking up my modem and router and it won’t connect. So I call the service dept and she tells me you can’t use your own modem and router. Um seriously? The previous owners of the house I just purchased used this exact same modem and router with your service. In fact, I bought it because they recommended it for the square footage and layout of the house. Well it’s not compatible she says. Ok again, in case you missed what I just said.
The woman I bought the house from used this exact model of modem and router and recommended it for the square footage and layout of this house using your service. Then she tells me “new customers can’t use their own modems and routers”. I thought it was a joke at first, or that maybe she was new and didn’t fully understand her job. So I asked to just cancel my account. Well, I’ll make this already long story short, after talking to three other people, including the retention dept. and the repair dept (who flat out lied to me and said they just recently changed their bandwidth in the last two days and now this model isn't compatible anymore) -more on that at the end- I found out that yes, spectrum discriminates against new customers and forces them to order their supplied modem and router for the promotion period of two years.
My roommate who already has spectrum decided to call and see if they’d move her service and use this same model of modem and router and they said sure no problem. Better Business Bureau and Consumer Reports needs this info. Because that’s just poor business practice. Coercion to purchase something you don’t want. Ridiculousness.

However, I woke up the next day to find that my card was charged $33 plus $99 upon shipping, totaling $132. These charges were not disclosed to me when I directly asked about the costs. This practice constitutes a violation of my consumer rights under the principles of the law of deception. According to consumer protection regulations:
Fine Print: Important terms, including any charges, must not be hidden in fine print. They should be presented in a clear and conspicuous manner.
Consent: Consumers should be fully informed and give explicit consent before being charged. Implying consent through hidden terms is generally not acceptable.
To make matters worse the phone was sent to an incorrect address. Even though the agent was given my address three times, they still spelled it incorrectly. I'm paying $85 a month just for wifi and they increase their rates an extra $5 a year with no explanation for it, other than just plain greed. Both Empire Access and Greenlight Networks are coming to my area, with their fiber internet, in the near future with Empire Access being $50 a month and Greenlight Networks being $55 a month and they both provide higher speeds than Spectrum. As soon as they are available in my area, I'm canceling Spectrum and going to which either one comes to my area first. If Spectrum wasn't so greedy and jacked up their prices every year, I wouldn't be so eager to cancel their service, since they do have great wifi service and excellent customer service.
They are no longer the monopoly they think they are. Other new wifi companies, like Empire Access and Greenlight Networks, are forming and available as other options. It seemed after my disconnection request was entered, during the busiest part of the day, my home was deprioritized and no service provided. The real kicker was that they expect me to pay for 2 weeks of service after I moved.
The reason I was given from customer service is they do not pro-rate. They have a monthly billing policy. I believe it is unethical for a company to receive duplicate revenue for the same service. That is what they are doing for the overlap when someone moves. I am expected to pay for the second half of the month, even though my service is turned off, plus they receive revenue from the new homeowners. Spectrum Internet service is a joke! Internet goes out FREQUENTLY. It's not because of the equipment in our house. Something in the field. It just goes out! It has for the four years I've been with them. Sometimes it comes back within minutes. Sometimes hours. Now it's been 2 days. CS will give me an approximate time of rectifying the issue via texts... 1 PM. 2 PM. It's rarely accurate. It's been 2 days this time, and still no Internet. So for us, that means no TV as well, since we stream everything. No more time estimates, and CS won't tell me anything new, other than "We apologize and have technicians in the field." No rebates for loss of time, job loss, etc.
As I mentioned, we stream our cable through them, therefore we rent a CLOUD DVR to record programs. 3 years I've used this THING they offer for the low price of $9.99 a month. It is horrible. I will Click on a recorded program (sports game I've previously recorded for instance), try to FAST FORWARD through a commercial, and it takes me all the way back to the beginning of the recorded program/game. THEN it will not allow Fast Forward AT ALL after kicking me back to the beginning. IF.
If the FF does somehow work, the playback from that point on is completely blurry. Spectrum finally, after 3 years of me complaining about this, has just now acknowledged it's a company-wide problem. Not enough bandwidth or some such. Upshot is, I get my $9.99 / month DVR fee reinstated, but it still doesn't work correctly. So it's relatively useless. To appease me, they told me they no longer offer the CLOUD DVR to its new customers, yet they have no alternative. This company wants to incentivize new customers, but cares so little about them once they have signed on. I realize Internet will go out every now and then... But these guys, it's at least twice a month. Sometimes for days, with no care for the customer. "We apologize for the inconvenience." Might as well send me "thoughts and prayers." I'm going to change Internet providers. Just not sure which one. Oh, and they raise fees arbitrarily also.

When you call customer service most of the time they are not aware that the service is out and they don’t provide an estimated time of when it will be back up. Let’s get into pricing for television, WiFi and internet. There’s never a set option. The prices vary depending upon the services. There’s always an introductory price and the list goes on. I terminated my services with Spectrum. I now have Verizon WiFi and internet for a monthly payment of $55. The price never changes. There’s no cable box and cable wires. Just plug the device into an electric outlet anywhere in your home then sync your devices. I will never return to Spectrum with their poor customer service, unknowledgeable reps, rude in store staff and paying for internet service that’s routinely out. Terrible and poorly run company.

Now the phone I exchange I put it back in its original box, wrap and all I even left the paperwork that came with the box in there. Made sure that phone was clean and boom I get an email and an alert where they tried taking $533.00 from my account good thing I keep it locked. I called them to what’s going on and explained to them there’s no way that phone had scratches. I sent it back the way you sent it to me that was my main worry and they said “we have proof”, sent me some pictures that look like a SETUP just to say it had damages.
Never got to use the phone. I activated the phone just because I had it plus 1 of the newer phones but used the old phone I had so I would not damage the new phone. The exchange phone came a couple of days later and I activated and cased it down per usual and started using it the other phone I cleared out and packaged up and I was waiting on a return kit for my other phone so I could return together and did.
Anyway please take pictures of anything you’re sending back. I didn’t. I was too happy about getting these new devices and never thought Spectrum would do that. Nope. I don’t recommend them to anyone when it comes to buying from them!!! I’ll finish paying for my phones. It’s no way $500 for a setup. They should see I got 3 of the same phones from them back to back, paid a unnecessary restocking fee so you know I wasn’t trying to pay damage fee!!! Come on now 3 iPhones, 1 was different and I just wanted an exchange to have 3 of the same. Understood no damages my main concern but somehow damages appear.

I explained that I would call back on Friday if I would be interested in going forward with a cell phone plan with them. I am currently an internet and cable TV subscriber with Spectrum. I started receiving emails that the phone was shipped. I checked my checking account and discovered that Spectrum had withdrawn the 82.77 from my account after I had clearly told them NO and that I would contact them on Friday if I was interested. They used the debit card they had on file for my internet and cable service.
When I called Spectrum, I was told that if I had not responded to the email and uploaded my ID (driver's license), the phone would not have shipped! I NEVER uploaded anything and did not respond to the emails. Spectrum fraudulently removed money from my account, causing me to have funds unavailable for my car insurance payment and receive overdraft fees. After over an hour on the phone with Spectrum, I was informed that I would have to wait to receive the phone, refuse delivery, wait for Spectrum to receive the phone and only then would I be refunded the 82.77 within 7 to 10 days!!!! We called Spectrum last week after being a customer for 10 years. Our internet and TV service had crept up to over $270./month, and our service was very unreliable. Internet and TV reception getting worse all the time. Husband spent 1 1/2 hours on phone with a Rep. who was able to lower our bill almost $100, but we had to choose a lower grade of TV service & cancel phone landline. When husband said he wanted to discuss w/his wife, Rep. said all notes were in his account and anyone he got on next call would give him the same deal. Not only did they never have any notes to refer to when he called 3 more times, but they could never ever "figure out" how that first Rep. got that number down.
Every call brought our rate higher. They seemed to make up names when my husband asked for their names, and his calls got "cut off" every single time he called them. They never tried to call him back. He had to start all over every time. Probably spent 10 hours on phone with them, and was told lies over and over again. When he finally demanded to speak to a supervisor, he was put on hold for ever, then some guy came on saying he was a supervisor, saying he would lower internet price by $20, then cut off the call and sent our new bill where he took off $20, and then put it right back on. My husband and I have had the service since August of 2017. For most of the time we've had no issues with our service. The internet was reliable. The service was consistent. No complaints. In the last two years our bills have been fluctuating almost consistently. 2 years ago they offered us a service for for spectrum to be utilized basically like a streaming service. Unfortunately you either have to have a Wi-Fi capable TV or Roku in order to utilize this service you can use it on your cell phones but we don't really use our cell phones to watch TV. So when they offered it to us we asked if they worked with fire Stick in which they do not. So we denied the service we did not authorize it. A few months later the bill starts to increase and my husband does handle the bill and all of a sudden I noticed it was going up to like 80 bucks so I went to him and I said, "Hey what's going on with this bill" and he says, "Well it keeps increasing."
I said, "Okay I'll call them." Upon calling Spectrum I was notified that the spectrum TV app was added to our service even though we never authorized it because they don't work with fire Stick. So I explained to them that we never authorized this service. They credited our account. Everything was fine. I was pleased by the results. We again continued using their service and then over the last year and a half slowly the bill has been increasing. It went from 60 to 80 then up to 128. During this time I was taking care of my dying grandmother and was unable to pay as close attention to the bills as I typically do. She passed away in October. I started getting more involved in the finances as I was previous to this. By December I noticed that our bill was up to 128 so I again go to my husband and say, "Hey what's the deal here?" He says, "I don't know. Again it just is progressively going up." It started from 60 to 80 to that 128.
So I did the same thing. I contacted the company and they said, "Oh you know you've got this spectrum TV app service on your account." To which I replied, "I told you a while ago that we do not have things that can use the service in our home. We do not want this service and I've told you before. Why is this on our account again?" He said, "I'm not sure but we'll go ahead and credit you the last 90 days of the service." And explain that that was the best that he could do. "But I will credit you this. Just wait a couple days. It'll clear and then go ahead and pay the bill, because you don't know what your bill is going to be like until that clears." So I agreed and I said I'll do it in a couple days. Well the credit was never applied.
So then I contacted them in January realizing that something must have happened to where they never credited us our account. To which an agent that I spoke with said that they do not credit accounts in situations like this, that it doesn't matter if the service was put on there or not that there was nothing more that she could do for me and I would just have to pay the bill. So my husband and I discussed it. She told us we had to cancel by February 16th in order to not have another bill so we agreed to pay January and February which was 128 and we would figure out what to do between then and by March. We made our decision. We went with a different company and we were told that we we're just responsible for $128 which would bring our account to zero. Then could proceed to cancel.
So I said no problem, and I paid the $128 on March 8th and then canceled the account a few days later why that process and then I received a bill today March 29th 2024 for $85. Upon contacting spectrum and relaying all of this conversation to them that I've had over the last 6 months they are refusing to do anything to minimize the bill. They were unwilling to work with me. I went up through a supervisor who in addition refused to work with me. He said that there was a $20 credit applied which isn't even one month of service to the account and that was all that would be done so now they're threatening to send the bill to collections that I should have never owed and they are not standing behind what their employee formed me on the 8th of March and in order to keep it from going to collections I now have to pay the $85 that I never should have owed.
So if you're looking for providers for internet and or TV services be very careful who you go with. Read your reviews. Follow through with everything. If you have any questions if your bill looks any scary stay on top of them as much as you can. Because otherwise they will be playing games with your account and in the end you're just subject to pay them. And I would even recommend recording the conversations that you have with them to hold them accountable for what they say.

Why is Spectrum TV so high. Unable to get other cable services in my area, other than Satellite TV. Cable bill for basic service, and no wifi almost $200. Elderly minority couple, is this normal? When initially signed up 2020, cable was close to $100 a month. Signed up with incentives. When incentive expired a year later, monthly costs have increased steadily from $125 to $184. Why the increase. Decreased services to basic. Paying just for basic TV. No HBO, NO Showtime, just basic cable. Why does it cost so much.

I am not going to waste my time with details. Just know that if you sign up with Spectrum your customer service experience, if you ever have a problem, will be horrible. Don't get trapped...Find another company.

I joined Spectrum about eight months ago because of the great rates, but what I realize is their service and customer service is poor. I’m a home inspector and I do a lot of work in my vehicle mobile. My cellular service signal was poor. My Wi-Fi service signal was poor. They told me that I needed to upgrade my phone, I did that. Once I did that the signal wasn’t any better and what I mean by that is that I could connect my hotspot to my laptop. What would normally take me a few minutes would take me hours to do so I decided to leave and go back to Verizon Which Verizon is more expensive but their service and connection is outstanding.
I called spectrum and they can see all the issues I’ve had and ask them if I turn my phones in can I get some type of credit so I won’t have to pay over $1800 for phones. They told me there’s nothing they can do. So my advice to anyone that decides you wanna go to Spectrum if you want cheap rates they’re good. If you want great service they’re poor. I do not recommend them if you’re doing mobile business and you need to stay connected to the Internet or Wi-Fi. Why you’re not at your home station. They will tell you that they can do this and do that but their service is poor.

Have the ACP benefit and struggled a little bit for a few months, but wasn’t worried about it because the ACP benefit prevents Spectrum from disconnecting your service. I had a promotional offer $30 a month which with the ACP would make it a wash. spectrum took their time, applying it to my account, and instead of shutting their service off what they do is completely slow down your Internet to where it’s not even usable anymore, but they’re still in their guidelines because they technically don’t disconnect.
Absolutely scum of a company that you could do this to people with inflation over less than $100 because scumbag sales person ** man got upset when I didn’t want to upgrade or phone service so he on purpose took the plan off my account. I was just calling to transfer my service. I am reporting them To ACP because I’m pretty sure this is illegal. Will only continue to have the service because it is a wash. Until they take the ACP completely away. I hope they go out of business.
