I been a Spectrum customer for more than 20 years. I recently, cancelled my service because of many internet interruptions in my house and their prices. They advertise one can cancel anytime, but this is LIE. They do not prorated the rate. They actually charge you for the whole month even if you didn’t sign a contract. So for 4 days of house internet I have to pay 98 dollars. I feel robbed!

I spoke with a customer service agent around an hour ago. My bill for the Spectrum bundle, phone, cable, internet was increased $15 in one month, I'm now paying $230/month for this service. Although polite the Spectrum customer service rep's rationalization for the billing increase was vague, "that's the way it is, deal with it". Not impressed.

The absolute worst customer service ever! Tried to transfer our business phone and Internet to a new location and they cited at least 30 days to transfer, meanwhile allowing our phone lines and internet to go completely down. This is a doctor’s office, mind you! Called them and pretended we wanted a “new business account” at our new location address - they were all off a sudden out to our location SAME DAY! We cancelled all services with them. They DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!

The service is trash! My phone has a service ERROR almost two to four times a day! I have to turn the phone off two to four times as well In order for the service to reconnect to the internet. I’ve been out in the middle of nowhere & the GPS will do absolutely nothing. This is not good for someone alone. Very frightening as a matter of fact! I hate the customer service reps because no one can ever assist me & ALWAYS transfers the call without even putting notes on the account so that the next rep knows what’s going on! I hate this company! Metro by TMobile was never like this!!

When we first moved to Oregon, 3 years ago, Spectrum was great. Outstanding service, quick to respond to our inquiries and installation, and very fast for repairs (minor issue when we first signed up), but after our two year agreement, of course like other large communication companies, our rates doubled, not to mention we started having service connection issues later in the evenings. So we called, and asked about assistance with pricing and reviewing the connection. They adjusted the price $5 or $10 lower per month, checked everything, and indicated they couldn't find anything wrong, and based on the lower cost, it was minimal as increase was much larger.

I warned them that a new carrier is coming into our area in a few months, and Spectrum didn't seemed to worried about my thoughts of moving to the new carrier, and refused to lower my bill any further. I mentioned, "When I call to cancel, you will then offer me a better price." Well, it happened. When I called to cancel, they almost gave me a free year (at a very minimal cost), so I simply said no, they had a chance and blew it. Our new carrier is great, better pricing, faster service. Spectrum is just like the other big companies, they don't care until you actually cancel.

Was charged for service I did not even receive. Manager even said it was unfair. 1. Terminated service on December 27th. 2. New billing cycle was 12/24-1)24.

    3. Charged for full cycle. 4. Not willing to prorate or work with me on the final bill. Internet service matched up with the other ones. Customer service did not. At the end of my promotional rate I contacted them to discuss and they were not helpful so I terminated my service. I went to the store to drop off the equipment and the representative that are said I should have just came straight to them and it would have worked with me.

A word of warning. STAY AWAY FROM SPECTRUM AT ALL COSTS!!!! They are nothing but a bunch of crooks who take advantage of homeowners. Just to recap what they’ve done to me. I called them and requested Internet service, they set up an account for me, told me I was eligible, gave me a price quote AND set up an appointment to come and install it this week. This morning I got a call from their construction department that says they cannot connect to me and if I want to be connected they’ll have to install equipment at the pole.

Now bear in mind, I don’t own that pole and the people two doors down from me on the right have spectrum and the third house on the left from my house has spectrum. They chose to ignore this little small group of homes stuck in the middle and they want me to pay them $6000 to come out here and put their equipment on the street to supply me w/ Internet service. Am I the only one that thinks that is just ludicrous?? Why in god's name would I pay them to put equipment on poles at the street that everyone else is going to benefit from and they’re going to be getting money from every single month for God knows how long in return for the service. If you agree with me, please be sure to leave reviews regarding spectrum's unethical business practices. My goal is to flood the Internet with negative reviews about the way they treat people.

Following Spectrum's takeover of my Time Warner (cable) accounts, the only things they have given me are rate increases and excuses. I've been told many times, by their customer service agents, Spectrum does not reward customer loyalty. AT&T Fiber finally made it to my neighborhood; lower rates and faster internet speeds. Once again I called Spectrum to ask if they would match AT&T's lower rates. I was told Spectrum does not match competitor rates. OK .. today I called to cancel my Spectrum service. I told the agent I have already switched my service and had no interest in hearing any deals they can offer. No surprise; the agent put me on hold multiple times. Each time she returned with another "deal" to keep me as a customer. After 25 minutes of delays; she finally cancelled my Spectrum services.

Next problem is returning a (cable TV) converter box. I visited a Spectrum corporate store 3 hours after cancelling my service. I was told my account was in a "change pending" status. A "change pending" status LOCKS an account; the sales agent could not process my converter box return until after the nightly system update.

Spectrum charged me $85 for 100 Mbps. They did this for years until I learned AT&T offers 300 Mbps for $55. They will not look out for you. They will take your money and not mention you have better options with them. They claimed it was the old equipment they gave me such that the upgrade option "was not triggered" automatically. I tried to cancel my service and they kept me on a 30 minute call trying to hardshell me to keep me. I told them I couldn't trust them anymore. They ended up not cancelling my service and tried to charge me again a month after I cancelled and a month after I returned their equipment. Their own customer service said it made no sense they did not cancel and that they are still charging me. As usual they have to transfer you to customer retention who disrespect you and try to argue with you through hard sale tactics to try and keep you.

My last call, where I was very polite, the customer retention rep put me on a 20 minute silent hold without checking back. I had to hang up and reinitiate the call. Same hoops to jump through but I was so livid the last customer retention rep terminated my account and backdated so I was not incorrectly charged due to their mistake. I will never use Spectrum again, unprofessional, not concerned about their customers, and incompetent.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of having Spectrum Unified Communications install their Internet and Phone service at my business. From the outset, the installation process was poorly managed and took an unacceptable 4 months longer to complete than was necessary. One of the major issues I encountered was an inability to reach support when I had questions or issues. It seemed like every time I called, I was placed on hold for an unreasonable amount of time or transferred to someone who was unable to help me. This lack of responsive support was extremely frustrating and caused unnecessary delays in the installation process.

Another issue I encountered was a complete lack of communication from the project management team. I was often left in the dark about the status of the installation and had to constantly follow up to get any updates. This lack of transparency and communication caused additional stress and wasted time on my end. Overall, my experience with Spectrum Unified Communications has been extremely disappointing. The poorly managed installation process and lack of support and communication have been unacceptable and I would not recommend their services to others.

On Monday, December 26, 2022: 1 called to inquire about canceling my cable service. During the conversation, I asked the representative if my bill would be adjusted to which she replied, "yes, that I will have to pay for services from 12/21-12/26 only and that should see the adiustment in the next couple of days". That was two days ago and so I called Spectrum today as had not seen the bill be adjusted yet. I was advised today that there is fine print on the bill that says that it doesn't matter when you cancel your service you will have to pay until the end of the billing cycle.

At no point during my conversation when I was canceling service, did the agent tell me this, in fact, just the opposite as I already stated above, she said I would get an adjusted bill in the next couple of days. And she shipped me a box to return my equipment. When speaking to a representative/employee of a company, they are speaking FOR the company. Therefore, since the agent told me my bill would be adiusted to reflect the cancellation of cable, it's the same as Spectrum telling me my bill would be adjusted to reflect the cancellation of cable. I spoke to two supervisors today, 12/28/2022. Both of them told me that they would take this and use it as a coaching opportunity for their employee but would not HONOR what I was told.

When you sign up they promise there is no disconnection fee, but when you quit, even if you only go one day into the next billing cycle (like I did) they don't prorate their service and charge you for the whole month. After one day of service they left me a bill for $260. These guys are shameless criminals. And the reason I left is because Spectrum is ridiculously expensive and don't even have the fastest Internet. This is a warning all Spectrum customers that they should avoid financial and secure transactions on the Spectrum services because they are absolutely not secure and their DMCA reporting system is easily abused by anyone. The short: We work for a radio station and regularly replace digital files in the music library. As we pay royalties for use of any music we possess we in fact have full permission for use by the copyright holders.

Somewhere along the line a copyright troll company going by OpSecurity took it upon itself to file a DMCA complaint on a single file we accessed. Not just one complaint but 170 over the span of four minutes literally creating seventeen pages of complaints in our providers' file. My guess is they figure if they flood a system with complaints the users will be harassed because there is no other reason I can think of any legitimate organization would conduct themselves in such a manner but it does show a HUGE flaw in Spectrum's reporting system as a bot was clearly used to do this.

But.. this is not the reason for the bad review. While I was inside my US Bank app in the middle of making a secure financial transaction.. Spectrum injected code into the web page of the banking app to alert me of these 170 violations. Yes, somehow in the middle of what should be a highly secure financial transaction.. Spectrum injected code right into the website somehow causing no alert at all of the broken and redirected communications. To say this is highly dangerous is beyond words because all it would take is one employee slip and a bad actor could easily use this system to sit right in your bank transactions and insert code to obtain any information it wanted.

To say Spectrum is sitting right between every single transaction you make on the internet through their service and can modify any website it so chooses without impunity should scare anyone using their service. Spectrum is not secure. I wonder if anyone with Spectrum would like to explain why they are doing this and if they realize the security implications of an internet provider being able to modify any website it so chooses like this.

I have been a loyal Spectrum for 3+ years. My girlfriend has had Spectrum Mobile's pay-as-you go plan for 6 months and in this short period I have grown to completely distrust the company. For three months, her phone has been on airplane mode, as she's hoping to avoid exceeding her data limits. Nevertheless, despite her phone becoming essentially a wi-fi only device, Spectrum Mobile is reporting her data usage at over 14 gigs, and charging her over $100 a mo. for the privilege. We have called several times to rectify the issue, but because the original account holder was her grandmother, they won't talk to us (even though my girlfriend is paying the bills!).

So my girlfriend has accrued bills over $400 in a short 3 month period. All of this from a company that offers an unlimited $30/mo plan. After spending dozens of hours rectifying the issue with the account holder (we had to ultimately show a POA over her grandmother to their staff at a physical spectrum store), we tried to explain the situation to higher up personal on the phone. Anna, a member of their Spectrum Mobile "leadership team" in New York, flatly refused to reverse or reduce the charges, even though there is clearly some technical error with the way data is being reported. She said the data doesn't lie. I insisted she try to help us, and reiterated in many different ways how we were being overcharged for substandard service from the beginning. No use. Anna was cold. Heartless even.

So my girlfriend is leaving them as a customer. I will be leaving as a Wifi customer. My business will be leaving as a Spectrum Business customer, and if you do any business with Spectrum, I encourage you to leave too. Up until now, I found their customer service exemplary. It took one experience with their senior staff to decide the whole company is rotten. I think because they think they are dealing with poorer customers (vis-a-vis pay as you go plan) with fewer resources, they can afford to be uncompromising and cruel. In this case, they would be wrong, since they will lose hundreds of dollars every month instead of simply working with one customer to attenuate their bill. Goodbye, Spectrum, we're never coming back.

I was a Brighthouse, then Spectrum customer for over 15 years, with internet, tv, and phone service. When things were working it was OK, but when there were problems which seemed more often than not, the customer service was terrible. The representatives weren’t empowered to do anything, unless they were trying to sell you something new. Finally fed up with the spotty service, I found out I was paying waaay too much compared to some of the other competitor prices. So, I packed up all of my devices and took them to the Spectrum store to terminate my account and turn in the equipment.

Once in the store I was told that I could only disconnect my service over the phone and I would also have to take my equipment to a UPS store where they would ship it back to Spectrum free of charge. Calling Spectrum over the phone, I followed the prompts to terminate my service and when I finally got to a person she said I could drop off my equipment at a Spectrum store (are you kidding me??) but I would need to call Retention Serviced and gave me another number to dial. I find it interesting that if I was trying to get an upgrade to my service they would connect me automatically, but to terminate my service I was left on my own to dial it myself.

As anticipated, retention services was a terrible experience. The lady told me I could not get credit for terminating my service 3 and a half weeks before the end of the billing cycle. In addition she told me I could turn my equipment in at a Spectrum store, and when I explained that I couldn’t, she came up with a mealymouth excuse why taking it to a UPS was a better option. Overall, post-Hurricane Ian and Nicole, there have been at least 10 of my neighbors who have dropped Spectrum and have switched to AT&T fiber, now I’m another one. Spectrum is terrible.

When I called customer service they said the company was not required to prorate the final bill because California law did not require them to do so. In fact, she stated that only two states in the United States required a company to prorate the bill. So going from literally hundreds of channels and internet for $245 down to only 15 channels and internet only saves me $45?? Spectrum should be ashamed. They are unscrupulous, unethical and a complete rip off. After hurricane, Ian, we lost Spectrum service for more than a day (no biggie) but you have to call them for a credit. Why wouldn't they do this automatically as a courtesy and because it's the right thing to do? Sad.

When I walked into the store I had two working phones and walked out with no service on either phone. When I called customer service to ask why the store would not make sure the customer has a working phone before they leave the store and she said, "Oh the personnel in the stores are only salespeople". Are you kidding me! They set you up with service and do not make sure you have service! 3 stops at the Spectrum store and 6 customer service calls (todays was just under 3 hours actually talking to 3 different agents) and I still do not have service! They will tell you one thing to get you to “buy” (go with their mobile service) and then not deliver on promises. Do not be persuaded by their $29.99 per line offer. You really do get what you pay for and our experience has been that you get sub-standard (low quality) service. Everything from porting existing phone numbers, to activating new phones and to not getting promised trade-in offers on old phones was very problematic. It should not be this difficult to get quality mobile phone service!

Our Complaint with Spectrum is two items:

    1. Spectrum does not pro-rate fees when services are cancelled during the monthly service period, but also does not reduce the service fee for outage time periods. It appears unfair that they charge for the time period after cancellation and for times when service was not supplied due to outages due to their equipment or software.

    2. Spectrum does not accept responsibility for removal of their equipment attached to our house after service cancellation and repair all subsequent damage to the house.

Our Spectrum internet service was cancelled on 27 July 2022, and the TV service cancelled on 19 August 2022. I have been using Spectrum/Times Warner/and their predecessor organizations since early 1990’s. On 29 August 2022, we called Spectrum to determine why our cancelled service was not pro-rated, and why we were charged the full monthly fee. We were told that their Terms and Conditions “…does not provide credit for monthly services …cancelled prior to the end of the billing month. I asked why this information was not supplied when we called to cancel the service and did not get a satisfactory answer. On looking at the monthly bills this statement appears under the “Billing Information” heading – which I unfortunately never read.

During the conversation I asked why our bills never reflected a reduced price when the Spectrum service had an outage. The last outage occurred earlier this year with a 3 day outage – approximately 10% of the billing period and billing amount. I do not remember a single time over the past 30 plus years that our monthly bill was reduced to account for non service time. I also asked for a claim to remove Spectrum equipment that was attached to our house and repair all cable intrusions. The service Supervisor (Adrian) would not submit a claim request for the above.

They then refused to prorate for the week I overlapped and made me pay the $80! They then said, "We will give you a reduction in rate if you stay with us for the next year," but it was still higher than another provider was offering, so I said, "Fine I'll keep the service for the rest of the month since Spectrum forced me to pay for the service and disconnect at the end of the billing cycle."

They lied and disconnected it anyway!!! Now saying I am being billed for the equipment that wasn't returned when I am supposed to have it for another month!! So, another appointment was made now for July 19 and no one showed up nor had the courtesy to call. I made another appointment for the July 21 and no one showed up, again.

I made yet another appointment for today July 26, (ONE MONTH after the first request) and guess what “No One Showed Up”. Then 20 minutes on the phone with him and suddenly I hear “if you know the extension number dial it now” (something like that). I followed the prompts and I was able to talk to someone else (don’t even remember the name). None of the people I’ve spoke with could resolved the situation.

I don't know how much clearer I can be with them. Have none of their customers ever moved? Why are they promising me the 54.99 rate if they can't uphold that promise? If you are one of Spectrum's customer service agents reading this: QUIT. Why would you work for a company that preys on their customers and has monopolized the market to where you have no choice but to use them? SPECTRUM'S BUSINESS MODEL IS PREDATORY. I am currently on hold for the 7th person to assist me and so far it has been one hour and 25 minutes even after talking to a supervisor who put me on hold for another department. My family has had this number for 60 years. Sad to loose it all because of extreme poor customer service.

I have been a customer for over 8 years. I had recently moved 8 months ago to a new location. I had found that they had charged me extra $19.99 for a service called "Spectrum tv". So I had called last week to cancel that service and to get a refund for $19.99 for the past 8 months. They said, they filed a claim but then they promptly offered my a cellular service that would bring my phone bill down to $60. I even bought a new phone from them. To try and activate my services I had to "port out" my phone number from T-mobile to Spectrum. That whole ordeal took me two days!!!! Two Days!!! Long story, but I will be writing another complaint regarding T-mobile as well.

I finally ported my phone number over to spectrum but I got NO notice regarding cancelling "spectrum tv" nor any notice regarding a refund. So I called them again and they said they can't refund a service that is over 60 days old, and I asked them why they didn't mentioned that earlier? You could have told me that first but instead you gave me this false hope that I could get that refund so that you can sell me another service. The lady just repeated whatever she was told to repeat. Then I told her, "how was I supposed to know that you charged me for another service? You guys just snuck it in there." She said "we emailed you". So I said "you know what, I'm going to cancel the cellular service with spectrum, and just go with T-mobile's internet service as well".

It comes to no surprise that my call was dropped. It's not fair to the workers that everything is so compartmentalized So each person I was transferred to they got to hear my story until the last person who got me, I was so frustrated that she got all of my anger, and I do feel bad because she was only doing what she's told to do.

On top of rent, utilities, medical, gas, food, cellular, internet, and everything we have to keep track in life, Now I have to make sure each service I signed up for doesn't sneak in an added service and charge extra. I'm so angry with spectrum and their corporation mentality, I feel bad that she started to cry, but I'm so frustrated I could just cry too. If it's a big corporation, BEWARE, they don't really give a rip, once they have your money who gives a rip.

We pay for the highest quality of internet service they provide, there hasn't been a day yet where the internet has not ran smoothly. It's ridiculous. We went to cancel because we are moving and have to leave at the beginning of the month. My husband is in the military and needs it for his job, and I am in school and need internet for the time being. Since all bills are paperless... Not our choice. We never saw that they have a rule that you have to pay for the WHOLE MONTH. The representative said it does not matter if it is the 2nd or the 15, or the 29th. We have to pay for the whole month. I had Spectrum service in Texas. I cancelled and moved to North Carolina more than 6 month ago. We started new Spectrum service in our new home. I paid my last bill to zero balance before leaving and returned my equipment to a store in person. When the service agent received the equipment they dropped it on the ground and said ok you are good. I did not get a receipt nor did I get a final bill for money owed. I got a credit alert today from Experian that said I have a new collection account from Sunrise Credit Service for $417 dollars. I called them and they said that they could not help me other than to pay the debt or contact Spectrum.

I called Spectrum because this was a surprise to me since I have never received a bill, late notice, or notification for intention to report unpaid bill balance to collection agency. I spoke with a Spectrum service provider who 1st told me that the collection was because I hadn't returned my equipment. I told them I had and the agent said she would need to do a equipment return search and get back to me. I was not happy with that because I knew that I returned the equipment in person. She put me on hold after voicing my dissatisfaction and came back to tell me they found my returned equipment. She then said, "Oh the collection was from a unpaid bill."

I told her I have never received a bill or late notice and that I continue to have Spectrum service. I asked her shouldn't they have given me a final bill if I owed money at time of equipment return. The service agent replied "Yes they should have." I once again voiced my dissatisfaction with Spectrum's business practice. I paid them amount owed and told them that this should be removed from my credit report because I cancelled my service from prior address over 6 months ago and I was never made aware that I had a outstanding bill. She gave me a confirmation number for my payment and a ticket number for reporting back to the credit agency. She told me that it would take 4-6 weeks which is totally unacceptable for someone who takes pride in managing and maintaining their credit.

I have also disputed this on Experian credit website. If this is not removed then I will report to Better Business Bureau and seek legal remedy. I am very upset at these corporations who provide their loyal customers with poor service and communication. They just send you to a collection agency. I hope the credit bureau will see what this company is doing and provide protection for the consumer. I will be looking for another service provider when my new home that I am building is complete.

I've signed up for internet service over the phone, and Spectrum introduced a promotion of 3 months free and then $25/mo. By month 4, I've got my first bill of $99. I called them, and they've explained that it's coming from TV service, etc., which I've never had. I didn't get any TV equipment as well. They were able to fix that bill and remove that. They've also confirmed that it won't happen again, and I will keep paying $25/mo. Month 5, and I'm getting my $99 bill again. I call them, and they say, "it's because the promotion was removed by mistake, we'll bring it back, and you'll keep paying $25." Connection breaks, and I'm calling back. Now they say it's not a mistake, and my service is $99/mo. I argue with them over it and explain that to 2 different representatives, including seniors. 30 min later, they promised to get back to me in 4 days and let me know what they could do.

    Bottomline they:
    — Got me TV service added without my consent or equipment and didn't even tell me that.
    — Fix issues from the call 3 or 4; it never helps first try. You always need to waste time and apply gentle pressure to make them realize that they got into this argument with you cause they misled you. No one want's to argue over the phone and prove they didn't order anything.

    — Give promises they can't deliver on. ~50% of reps don't even know what they're doing and how people need to get the correct data over the phone.

HELLO! We don't read agreements. If the official rep says, "Your bill is gonna be $25/mo," it's what we take for reality. We rely on you the same way you rely on the plumber when they say "it's fixed" or the president when he says, "we'll do this and that." No one wants to spend time in court arguing over a $100 bill. But also, no one wants incompetent lying reps.

I opened a Spectrum Internet service 6 years ago. The first year's price was very low, I believe around $16.95 a month but the upload/download speeds were very slow but for the price it still fair. The second year starts and now without warning my bill is $59 monthly but same speeds when I’d randomly check. I would contact customer service and get the same response every time saying everything looked good on their end, speeds were in the correct parameter. Friends would come to visit and every single one would make a comment about how slow my internet was. Around year 4 I finally had heard enough about the slow service so called and the customer representative says, "Yes your speeds are way too slow" & after running tests discovered that there was damaged cable.

They scheduled and fixed the issue in less than a week which was great but never said a word about the last 4 years of service I’d been paying for but getting nowhere near the bandwidth I was supposed to be. Didn’t even receive a sorry. Year 5 & 6 is my real problem I have with this company. The pandemic hits. We’re promised service won’t be interrupted, I forgot to pay and the first day legally for the them to shut off they did. I make payment and continue now to the beginning of 2022. I come down with Corona virus which wasn’t that bad. I called. Told Spectrum I was sick and they said it was too late. They had to shut off.

I made payment, felt better then suddenly sick with symptoms much stronger than before. I now have been out of work for over 3 months. Called to let Spectrum know what the situation was and also to let them know I had applied for assistance to pay bill. The representative to says thanks for the info but they’re doing a soft disconnect. So what they do is throttle down your internet speeds to nearly zero. It’s been worse than disconnect. For a moment it might work then hours it’s back to zero. It’s disgusting that a company would treat customers this way in a time of need. I’ll be taking my business to AT&T as soon as I’m able. Even if you use a favorites channel guide, when using the channel up/down keys when viewing, it hits every channel. When fast forwarding, when you stop, the old system would back up a few seconds, so when you saw the end of a commercial and started again, you'd generally be at the restart of the program. Now the stop is exactly where you stop, so you constantly have to back up a few seconds and start again. Very poor engineering. It wasn't broke! Now it is after these "fixes."

For years I've had to deal with either Spectrum or AT&T. The both of them are scam artists in my books because I don't ever recall getting adequate service from either; not the multitude of times that my internet connection disappears with virtually no explanation from Spectrum currently, or even the explained ones like outages. Understand (and I'm not making this up), I have lost my Spectrum connection several hundred times at least for extended periods like one day up to two weeks (YES, 2 WEEKS). Only once have they compensated me for this nonsense, and if I were a greedy sob I would have bugged them to the ends of the earth for what I know they legally should have compensated me for based on their own guidelines and television promises.

But not being a squeaky wheel I guess Spectrum just decided they could rob me blind because 2 years ago when I was going to leave Spectrum one of their reps actually threatened to call the police. When I asked him why he said some garbage about this being a suspicious call. When I threatened to call the police on him he hung up. I called back for a supervisor. and a guy who claimed to be one went to bat for the previous rep. But when I told him to hang on while I call the police he danced a different tone. He gave me some sort of package deal (I don't remember the details), and I fell for it. That's on me. Since then I have lost connection at least 75-80 times and worse they wound up disconnecting my connection under the guise that I was downloading torrents even though 1) torrents aren't illegal and 2) they acknowledge that they couldn't prove as much, but still they cut my connection.

Now they are charging me a voice activation fee I never asked for and the automated phone response seems more like it's designed to frustrate the customer. But although some of the reps tend to be nice it doesn't change the nature of our one-sided relationship. This last rep I s/w had no interest in resolving the voice activation fee ($12.99) that I never asked for. Instead she kept trying to explain its purpose (which meant nothing to me, I wanted it gone). Magically a ton of static popped up and in the past I might have written this off as incidental, but my distrust of Spectrum is such that anything is possible. Whenever they screw me (Which seems to be on a monthly basis now) I don't get compensated. 2 months ago they actually had my cable in Spanish for 2 days and were completely blase about it.

While I am getting rid of Spectrum cable in a couple of weeks I'm still looking around for a good internet bargain but as of right now, as I suspected the call would go, this voice activation fee is still on my bill (Starting from last November mind you from a promo I never signed on for). I have to believe that Spectrum is playing the "I'm a big bank account and you're a nobody so don't test us legally" game. Who knows, America was birthed by prostitutes and thieves and maybe they just decided to stop faking it these day and point-blank rip off the little guy. I don't doubt out of millions of customers Spectrum could find you some glowing reviews. But I'll bet you a thin man's nickel to a fat man's dime that the majority won't, which says a lot about their quality. Mind you, allegedly last year I was put on a program that was supposed to reduce my bill considerably.

My bill was $198.00 + change. My current bill is $191.00 + change. Each time they have offered some sort of savings program they have maneuvered the bill back toward a higher amount. I don't know if they think that the elderly (I'm 65) are dumb and feeble, or they just figured I wouldn't fight back. I for one, know that Spectrum is breaking some laws (assuming that any penalty won't dent their pockets), but I'm going to do much more response for once.

I need to abbreviate this since I'm long-winded and don't have all the details of my relationship with Spectrum immediately on hand but I kept some notes on some of our misadventures and after I go over them will gladly forward the info to this site. But I'll say it one more time. SPECTRUM IS DISHONEST. And please don't let some lightweight apology from them dissuade you from the truth. Take it from a guy who has had his Spectrum services either partially or completely disconnected at least 10-15% of his time as a Spectrum client. Their own records will show as much. Thanks for letting me vent.

I’ve been scammed by many companies in my lifetime, but never as audaciously and for as much money as we have just been scammed with Spectrum. This company is criminal! Back in January, my wife noticed that we had two charges from Spectrum on our credit card, one for the usual amount we pay for the (awful) internet service we have with them, and another charge we didn’t recognize for $148. We called Spectrum and they insisted that they didn’t charge us the $148. This made no sense because the charge on our credit card statement said Spectrum and had their phone number on it, just like the legitimate charge. They refused to give me a credit and said to report it as fraud to my credit card, company, Chase.

We did so, they reversed the charge, at least temporarily while they were supposed to investigate. We forgot about it until last Saturday, when I got a call from my brother. He said that he just got an email from Spectrum informing him that his credit card was declined. He clicked into it and saw that somehow my wife’s credit card number was associated as his default auto bill pay card. He went back through his statements and saw that Spectrum had been charging this card since last April, for nearly a year, after he failed to update his default credit card after it expired. His bills, charged to my credit card, over an 11-month period, totaled $1,703.90!

I’m surprised that neither he, nor my wife, who does our bills, noticed this problem but still wasn’t too upset about it because I assumed Spectrum would correct the mistake once we alerted them to the problem. Oh, what a mistake on my part, assuming Spectrum would handle this problem! The first woman I spoke to immediately grasped the issue and seemed ready to refund me and move the charges onto my brother’s account. But then she said she had to involve her supervisor and that’s where everything went to hell.

The supervisor conferenced my brother into the call and started interrogating him as though he was stealing from me. Never mind that we are both longtime Spectrum customers and he’s the one who alerted me to the problem. He claimed our only recourse was to report the charges as fraudulent to Chase, my credit card company. This made no sense to me, because if anyone committed fraud, it was Spectrum. So did they want me to report their fraud?

I asked supervisor #1 to transfer me to his supervisor. A much more understanding supervisor then got on the line with us and, after a 1 hour and 44-minute call, finally agreed that they would send me a check for the $1,703.90. We were all going to live happily ever after, right? Well…not so much. A few days later, we got a vague email that I thought was fraudulent because, a) it was written in broken English with numerous misspellings and grammatical errors, b) it gave us an incorrect case reference number, and c) it was from an @charter.com email address and I didn’t know at the time Spectrum was owned by Charter Communications.

The vague email just said that our ticket couldn’t be completed, and we needed to contact our bank. It also gave a phone number, which was different from the phone number I have for Spectrum. I ignored it for a day or two but then when our check for $1,703 didn’t materialize, I called Spectrum only to find out that someone in their accounting department overturned the decision of Debbie D., the supervisor who promised us a speedy refund. They once again reverted to their “you have to dispute the charges with your bank” response.

So we disputed the charges with Chase, and they insisted on immediately canceling our credit cards, and they only will investigate charges within the last 118 days, so not the whole $1,703.90 I was overcharged. Who knows how long this investigation will take our what portion of my money I’ll potentially get back but this has been an incredibly stressful and concerning incident to say the least. Yes, I could simply demand that my brother pay me the money.

However, first of all, I can’t vouch for the accuracy of their bills over the last year, and we have no assurance whatsoever that they won’t turn around and move those $1,703 worth of charges back onto his account after he pays me. What happens if he pays me $1,703, then Spectrum straightens out the billing error and insists he still owes that money to them? They are so disorganized/and/or crooked, I really can’t rule this out. They still haven’t explained to us how ON EARTH they associated our credit card with my brother’s account. (No, we do not live in the same household.)

    Lessons learned.

    1. He and my wife should have been scrutinizing their bills more closely obviously.
    2. Never, never, never trust Spectrum with your credit card on auto bill pay!
    3. Never trust anything that anyone says at Spectrum.

    4. Spectrum’s internet service is abysmal anyway, so find another provider! I’m looking into T-Mobile’s internet service today!

Got internet and TV 3 week ago. Had to call them almost every day, multiple times a day. The entire package is complete garbage, from poorly trained customer service reps to equipment that appears to have been programmed by a child 10 years ago. They promised a price when I signed up and didn't honor it in the end, and on top of that they have the nerve to raise their already high prices even more. Their speeds offered are not what they say and was cut off two times because no one at that company knows what they are doing. STAY AWAY! Complete nightmare that I put an end to very promptly. There are other ways to watch TV and surf.

I made a reservation to pick up my equipment online and when I went to pick up the equipment, I signed in at some kiosk.... Within a minute, I got a text telling me I'm next, but when I go back into the store, the two guys there are clueless. No apologies. I was rudely told to go back and sign in and wait to be called. Other people who were coming in had difficulty using the kiosk and no one offered help. I and other people in the store had to help them sign in on the kiosk. Someone who signed in showed me a screen showing the list of customers and when I didn't see my name, I tried to sign in again and the kiosk told me it couldn't find my confirmation number and to go seek assistance as a "priority walk-in"... Well, that never happened. I walked up to the desk and again was told to wait.

I then just opted to sign in as a person without reservation - where I had to wait on 3 people ahead of me. Once I finally got called, the guy who attended to me also expressed no apologies and pretty much signed me up for service - as if I never signed up online. Shame on Spectrum....but they can get away with it because our government allows them and maybe one other company to control the market. Next complaint will be to the FCC.

Way to feed your greed by using unjust and illogical policies to hurt average people. People should pay for what they use and charging full price for 8 days is shameful. I recently got internet, TV and phone. The phone was most recently added. I was convinced to buy a phone from Spectrum. This phone was actually a downgrade and he made me think that it was an upgrade. I had a Samsung Galaxy 9 plus, he got me to buy an A12 Samsung. This A12 was a joke, after few days I wanted to return it and it was fine to return. I had on order an upgrade to the Samsung s22 Plus. After about a week or so went by and I thought why don't I just upgrade to the ultra since it's only a couple hundred dollars more. It makes sense.

I wish the initial sales rep would have been honest to me, but he was a joke just trying to make money obviously. They would not let me return the a12 because it was 14 or 16 days after the phone was ordered. One rep told me was 14 days the other said 16. The point is, the s22 plus and the s-22 Ultra neither are available for me to get for at least a month. They submitted a ticket to management, and management decline me returning the downgraded a12 phone. I'm going to look for all new service ASAP. What a joke the management is to split hairs on a policy when neither the s 22 + nor the Ultra would be able to be sent to me for about a month. I will soon cancel all my service with Spectrum. What a disgrace and a joke this company is. What a shame and waste of my time.

If you are lucky enough to get someone who actually knows what they’re doing, you deserve five stars. Every time I call, I have to talk to at least three people before I get one that knows anything. If there are any other viable options in my area, I would switch in a millisecond. I can say this about every single department including Internet Repair, sales, billing, retention, etc. etc. etc.

I dealt with someone very nice over a week ago who signed me up for a better plan but she made a mistake on the order. So today I had to spend two hours with four different people finally getting someone who knew what they were doing on the third person who had to transfer me to the fourth person. Every single person gave me a different monthly rate. The entire thing was a nightmare and a fiasco. I would not recommend Spectrum to anyone.

This company takes advantage of the elderly, so if you have an elderly relative, that is having health and memory problems, please watch out for them and be their advocate. My story is about my 76 year old father and his wife have been customers of Spectrum internet for years. They have ran into health problems and have not used their internet service for at least one year if not longer.

My father told us he canceled the internet because he was unable to get on his computer anymore. (Be advised this is the only devise in the house that uses internet). My brother stayed at his house about 4 months ago and verified there was no internet service after tracking down the modem and performing several checks…

Well this month dad needed help paying bills and we discovered he has been paying for Spectrum internet service. Dad said he believed the Spectrum bill was for his cell phone, but after further digging we discovered he has different cell phone provider. I called Spectrum today and now I can understand why dad may have thought the Spectrum bill was for something other than internet.

First the phone tree, which kind of difficult to negotiate, I’m positive it is super difficult and confusing for the elderly to negotiate. I finally spoke with a live person and got some run around and the call was disconnected. Back through the phone tree again, got some more run around with the first person, then transferred to the cancellation department. That’s where just about any elderly person would run into a huge problem.

The male tried to tell me my dad would lose his phone and tv service if the account was canceled. I tried to explain my dad does not have either of those services with their company but the male would not listen. I had to tell the male several times that I did not want to buy anything or compare prices and only wanted to cancel the internet that was not being used, as he tried to talk over me and deflect why I was calling….

I became very frustrated, where most elderly persons would have given up. I’m sure this is where my dad probably gave up or thought he would have canceled his cell phone if he cancelled the account. 15 minutes after the male refused to allow me to talk or cancel the service, I had to yell at him to stop talking because he could not hear what I was saying if he continued to talk over me. Several more minutes ensued as I kept demanding that he cancel the service while he continued to try and sell me other products. We finally reached an understanding and the service was canceled.

I asked to speak with his supervisor and was transferred again. The gal that answered attempted to start the run around again but I’m sure from the tone of my voice she did not want to ruin her day and agreed to transfer me to the supervisor. I spoke with the supervisor and she looked up my dad’s account. She said she did not see any notes in the account that my dad has ever tried to cancel so she could not do anything for my dad. Either my dad gave up, which I fully believe that most elderly would have after what I just experienced, and/or the employee that took the call did not document the call from my dad. Or my dad was unable to negotiate the phone tree.

If you have read this far and have an older parent or grandparent please watch out for them. My dad has paid this company at least $900 for services he did not use and would have continued to pay every month had it not been for us. I get it that their employees are trained to try and talk people out of canceling their service, but the extent of the behavior and practice that I experienced is unacceptable out of any company and borderline criminal.

If we don’t watch out for our parents or grandparents there are people and/or companies (like this one) in this world that will take full advantage of them. These companies are no better than the scam artists that only want to steal money from the vulnerable. By the way, after this was over, I spoke with several of my friends about this and discovered some of them have had similar experiences with Spectrum, so this was not just a one time ordeal. Shame on you Spectrum.

I had just internet service with Spectrum. The service was decent, and I felt that when the service worked, I got what I paid for most of the time. I guess that deserves 1 star. My biggest issue with this company is that they care more about the money they can make vs. having a satisfied customer. I moved 4 days after my billing cycle ended and cancelled my service. Spectrum DOES NOT prorate or let you pay based on what is left on the billing cycle. Instead I had to pay a full month’s worth of service for just 4 days. This was not explained to me when I started service, but it was sneakily added in the “terms and conditions” in the billing statement. It was my fault for not “knowing/reading” the terms and conditions. So I was legally bound by this.

When I contacted Spectrum to see what they could do to help me, they (Supervisor Quatellar and her supervisor Jimmy) did not try to help me out in any way. Quatellar even tried to talk me out of having her submit a request up to her supervisor. She said it would just get denied so I am not going to do it. I wish companies could focus on their customers more than the money they could make. Spectrum does not even compensate their customers for interruption of service…even when it was their error. I DO NOT recommend Spectrum nor will I ever use them again.

However, I almost daily receive robocalls from Spectrum wanting to sell me services I already have.

When I press one to speak with an offshore caller (usually very poor English language skills) they acknowledge I’m already a customer but want to either sell me phone service or upgrade the two services I already have. I have asked, emailed and call Spectrum direct to stop the calls. I’ve been told I’ll be added to their do not call list (at least 5 times) and yet the robocalls continue nearly daily. This is not the way to conduct customer service. While I’m satisfied with the services I do receive I would hesitate to recommend Spectrum to anyone because of the annoying, and never ending, robocalls.

Spectrum is not a Customer service oriented company. Their CEO is the highest paid (multiple millions per year) executive in the communications industry.

When Frontier installed fiber in my neighborhood this fall, most households canceled spectrum because of their poor service and fraudulent billing practices. Spectrum has billed for services after the service to my house has been disconnected. This is fraud. The Federal Government has laws against billing for "no services rendered". Spectrum ignores these laws. Only way to counter this is file a complaint with the FCC. It is easy to do online. I encourage all to do this. Spectrum is regulated by the FCC.

They didn't want to work with me, they kept passing me off and what spectrum does is that they will charge you the full month yet cancel on the day of request with no prorates. So if you cancel a week or 2 weeks as I did they stop service yet still charge you full price and not cancel when billing cycle ends. First time I had an issue and this is how they treat people. There are other streaming and now internet services so until they lose enough they will not care. Try streaming and other internet avenues before going to spectrum. The techs that were sent out have been great - the issue is that the signal coming into my house is at the bare minimum (which "passes" at their distribution box, however, after going through 1 splitter, the levels are too low to get a stable connection). Like many, I work from home now and after 4 techs in a month for the same issue that apparently only another department at Spectrum can solve (which we can't contact directly per a tech), I am at my wits end. The last straw was when they sent someone out to replace the yard line again (3rd line in 2 weeks) and to bury it. Great.... except I wasn't notified... and I have a dog behind a gate that the tech just entered (I assume they are told to do this). Luckily, my dog was in the house and I was able to grab her before she got out and ran off.

After calling Spectrum to stop the tech from going any further (again, the issue was/is not even on my property), they said they can't since they contract this service and have no way of notifying them. When they were Brighthouse, it was a much better company and my issue isn't with the product since, if it worked, it would be great... "would"... Here is the thing - something WILL go wrong and then that's where a company shines or fails. Spectrum has just grown to a point where I am just a number and "too bad since we know you can't do anything about it". We recently cancelled our Spectrum internet service as the upload speed was not as advertised (7-18 mbs on a 200 mbs plan) and I was unable to work from home with their service. I cancelled 4 days into the billing cycle and they charged a full month. When I called for a refund they advised "sorry, but we bill for the full month regardless if you didn't have service the full month." Last frustration, their site has two service centers listed within 30 minutes of my house, however they're both closed. So two wasted trips (the phone number online goes direct to their corp office). We now need to pay to mail back the equipment so they'll refund me the additional $120 they charged.

I had 2 days into the next month cycle when I switched the service. I was thinking spectrum would charge pro-rate for the no of days I had their service (3 days) but they charged me for the full month saying that is their policy.

With the paperless billing, we do see all these fine hidden terms and now they claim that I should have read that contract. With paperless billing, we don't get to see the full contract terms. What a shame, it is real cheating if you ask me. Basically they know people will switch when the promotion expires to avoid high cost for the same service and this is a trap to get even. Beware of these policies -- no prorate when you cancel, but give you a prorate when you sign in to a new contract with them. What a shame?

The first representative stated that their packages have changed and that promotions are for new customers only. Great, so existing customers don't get notified of changes and are not extended the same promotions as new clients. Doesn't good business sense dictate caring for existing customers instead of frustrating and pushing the anger buttons? Spectrum has a "retention" department. Do they admit their business relations are so horrible that after demoralizing a current customer to the point of getting them to the verge of cancelling everything to flee to a competitor, Spectrum as last resort, defers to the "retention" staff?

I spend over 58 minutes to get lied to. I was told I don't need cable boxes anymore. The Spectrum app on any smart TV can provide all the channels I want. WRONG!!! I cut the call with a vengeance only to call again after breathing deeply for about ten minutes. I called to see if they had something to offer me maybe another promotion or something I am a returning customer. The person I was talking with sent me over to the Retentions department. The lady I spoke to said there is nothing available for me so I told her I would be looking at the competition and she really didn't care. I searched for a new company and switched on the spot! So much better customer service!

I called Spectrum back to cancel and now all of a sudden they wanted to keep my business! I explained what the previous person did and he was very apologetic and offered me better speeds, lower price than what I was paying. Really Spectrum??? You didn't care when I asked for help now you do. The guy I was speaking with told me nothing about my last bill. As a matter of fact I asked him I all clear I don't owe anything and he told me that is correct because I had my own equipment.

A week latter I receive a bill from Spectrum for $130.00. What??? They charged me not only for a month of service I cancelled and my equipment! I call to get this matter cleared up and again the person I spoke to on the phone was friendly but the only thing she could take off the bill was the equipment cost. Really??? You can do that but not reduce the bill from $65 to $50 what I was paying? They would rather spend the money and time and effort to send this to collections! I have had Spectrum since they had bought out Brighthouse and Time warner before that. With Brighthouse I never had a problem with but when another company takes over, what do you do when they are the only ones that service your area? They were great years ago but now that they have been using more than one box to get you the service you need it becomes a string of cables and boxes that you never wished you had.

Spectrum talks about the "2 towers" (as I liked to name them) that make your internet and cable work faster & efficiently. Of course one is for your cable and one is for your internet. That's a whatever if I ever heard one! Like I have just one box, no cable (not needed), I think that it should be made where all you need is one box for all if that's going to be the case and if it comes with a landline for your phone, ok. We just have to deal with a phone cable right. Nope, not the case with most of these cable and internet companies. Our technology is so advanced, you would think they can do better; not just Spectrum.

I stick with just internet. I do understand that there are more people now that have only internet and no cable. Why with all the NETFLIX, HULU, even PLUTO that lets you see what you want at a lesser cost then cable a month. This also has to do a lot with the slowing down of access, but ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY PEOPLE!! I think we can do better. Thank you.

I switched to Spectrum 6 months from another communication company because of poor customer service. I have been very satisfied with their dependability, and speed of service and specifically their monthly rates

My Spectrum download time averages between 375 & 400 Mbps. My interface with their technical assistants and in home technicians has been outstanding. Spectrum has provided my telephone service for many years without any problems. Their prices are competitive.

Spectrum always works, there is no data slow down and if you have an issue they will correct it quickly. If you have had them for a while and you just want your equipment upgraded it is only one call or web contact away.

Internet/WI-FI goes out constantly. Our phones are without internet daily, many times a day and for long periods! My BF are constantly on Facebook's Marketplace and internet goes down while we are trying to use the app to browse. When this happens we cannot see comments by other people and we cannot text or messenger people. So frustrating.

They charge too much!! For internet and tv. Too many reruns of the same. Too many extra programs you have to pay Extra for. When you put it on vacation, should be a one time charge. They charge too much when you put your plan on vacation.

Spectrum prices go up randomly all the time. Additionally to get a good internet connection you have to buy the top tier service and also get an extender otherwise the internet is so slow and not worth it. In the end it all ends up costing so much!

In my neighborhood, there are not many service provider options for high speed internet. I live in a suburban area, but perhaps because of the hills, there are very few options. Spectrum offers the best available with promises of increasing the speed over the last decade, but it remains similar. It’s not as fast as it could be during peak usage, but for the most part, it is reliable. I am not a gamer. I just stream movies occasionally in a household of 3, and use the internet for business.

Although I bundle my services, Spectrum has high prices and is not worth the amount paid. As soon as Covid 19 settled down they recently decided to raise prices even higher without notifying the customers.

Spectrum is one of the main internet providers in my area with Xfinity being the alternative. Spectrum internet is by far faster than xfinity. My only complaint is that it’s expensive coming in at $80 a month. Xfinity was cheaper but with slower service.

I Love Spectrum. They are not expensive so I know what to expect on my bill every month. I have never had service issues at all. I stream on 4 different devices. Also, the customer service is great but I can see my bill and pay it online. I would definitely recommend Spectrum!

Spectrum is the best for the area that I live in. However, it still drops the signal frequently. Working on the computer, IPad, or phone only to have service stop for two minutes every third minute is frustrating and distracting, taking longer to accomplish tasks that need to be completed in a timely manner. I would and have recommended Spectrum but only because the other choices are worse in this area.

They changed guaranteed speeds to average speeds. They offered me a package discount, then raised my rates twice to erase the discount savings. When their equipment fails, I have to take it into the store and exchange it myself and there is always a long wait.

Great intro rates terrible but when it is time to renew, the rates are sky high and they are unwilling to provide any type of renewing customer discount. If you are looking for a better business system and are very tech savvy consider one of the internet phone companies.

I’ve been very unhappy with their service for years - frequent dropped internet or very slow internet. However, they have a monopoly in our neighborhood and I’m unable to get any other ISP. I’m most unhappy about the fact that they frequently raise their rates. They even raise their rate during the pandemic when people were experiencing unemployment. I was one of them. The people at Spectrum are truly a caricature of a greed and exploitation. They prey on the fact that the people need them and exploit all that they can.
