    I bought a liquid screensaver for my phone with insurance on it and was told if I went to an Asurion place to get it replaced it wouldn't cost me anything to have it replaced or I could go to Verizon and pay $42.00 and Asurion would reimburse me the money it took to fix. (The screen cracked and only got 19.95 for fixing it.) I will not tell anyone to ever get a liquid screen. Even with insurance. It is a rip-off.

    The first replacement phone I received from Asurion was a blacklisted phone. It took me 3 hours, during 2 separate phone calls to find this out from Verizon’s fraud department. It would have been nice for an Asurion staff member to find this out for me, especially since this was Asurion’s fault for sending me a blacklisted phone. By attempting to register my phone number with this phone, my phone number became suspended which took another 2 hours to clear up when the 2nd replacement phone came in the mail (after printing, signing, scanning an affidavit). I asked Asurion if they could refund my deductible in exchange for the 5 hours I spent trying to resolve the issues Asurion caused, but they denied my request. This was a very bad experience.

    My experience with Asurion was great! I have never been one to buy that added extra insurance for my phones. I purchased my iPhone over two years ago and decided to go with a protection plan this time just because I know how expensive the iPhones are. It was less than $7 a month.     I was told that my claim had been accepted and I should be receiving a UPS return label; however, they failed to send a box for me to return my vacuum in. Since I've had my Dyson for 2 years you could guess that my original box was long gone. When I contacted Asurion to let them know that I had no way to package it up and send it back they replied, "We do not offer boxes for returns". SERIOUSLY? So it's going to cost me money to send a defective product, for which I've purchased insurance for? STAY AWAY from this company, do not purchase the insurance when offered to you at Wal-Mart.

    I needed my Sprint phone that is insured with Asurion replaced, I paid the $225 deductible, and I request the phone be activated on arrival. Received the phone on Monday. First problem - the phone wasn't activated. 2nd - I attempt to activate and error message stated phone is already activated on another account. I had to call Sprint, they confirmed that Asurion sent me a device that is activated to another person's account. 12 hours later and multiple tries to speak with an actual person I finally get through to a customer service rep that says because they have to ship another device, I have to now do the following; Wait for an email to be sent to me with directions to fax a copy of photo ID, Fill out a affidavit and send that back, wait at least 3 hours for a licensed adjuster to review the information and complete the claim.

    Wait for another confirmation email. Then a replacement device will be sent to replace THEIR FAULTY ALREADY ACTIVATED TO ANOTHER ACCOUNT will be sent the following day. I asked to speak to a customer service satisfaction personnel or manager. 3 people 45 mins later the only service recovery option that was offered was waiver on the forms that needed to be sent. Do NOT use this company, if you have a choice. I did not have that option and hope to never have to use them again.

    My iPhone 6S suddenly went into Headphone mode and after trying some of the possible fixes to no avail I brought it to Apple where they announced it was not able to be fixed and I would need a new phone. It is a hardware issue. I went to Sprint and we realized I had insurance after they agreed I would need a new phone. They suggested I call, make a claim and pay the deductible which is a hefty @250 charge. I contacted them and they insisted I take the phone to the Sprint repair shop in the city and pay for parking to be told the same thing that Apple had already told me.

    Nothing mattered but me going there or they will pay nothing. So $250 deductible and 13.50/mo for the last 20 months equaling $270 and they think I wouldn't just get my phone fixed it that were possible? I am told you have to get this insurance if you lease a phone and Asurion is the only game in town, but after reading the fine print, too late, I see you can cancel it after you buy the phone. Take heed and do that. This is a rip off money making proposition for this company who do not at all care to replace a phone for a customer. I am disgusted by them.

    After 18 attempts online and 8 by phone Asurion denied my claim for no apparent reason that Cricket Mobile or we could determine. They took payment with clearly no intent to cover my device. Clearly this is a case of fraud. I have 2 other items that are currently "covered" by their lack of insurance. I will be demanding refunds in all cases. They apparently commit slander and fraud as a regular business practice. Corporate greed in all its glory.

    I pay for ASURION insurance on 5 cell phones. The one and only time I need to use their insurance to replace a cracked screen on a single phone, they tell me they don't have the "equipment" available in my area to replace the screen and that my only option is to spend $199.00 for a full phone replacement!! I live in Orlando, there's over 3 million people in the eastern Central Florida area here and they are telling me that they don't have anyone set up to replace a cell phone screen? What kind of insurance is this, anyway?

    I know I can easily get the screen replaced for $75.00-$100.00 without the insurance, but I wanted to use it since I pay for it. I realize that if I did need a phone replaced, 200 bucks is a decent price, however, I'm not so sure that it wouldn't be a refurbished phone for that price. I can't believe that Verizon thinks that it's OK to treat their customers like this. As far as I'm concerned, ASURION cell phone insurance is nothing but a scam out to get every penny they can from as many of their customers as they can.     I have been paying for Asurion insurance for over a year. I shattered my phone 6 months ago and immediately tried to begin the repair process. They seemed to only have 2 repair locations in Manhattan, so I made an appointment. I left work to drop my phone off at the (very inconvenient) location and was asked to return 2 hours later. I then left work early to pick it up and was informed that the location didn't have the correct part. I'm not sure why they didn't contact me at all to tell me this, but I then made an appointment for a repair tech to meet me and repair the phone. No one ever showed up.

    For the next two weeks, I proceeded to call every location in Manhattan every day to see if they had the correct part, and none did. They all told me to call back the next day, since they get part shipments every day (theoretically). Nothing. I made several more appointments for a repair tech to meet me, and again no one ever showed up (even when I changed the location for people to meet me). I have spent hours online and on the phone with Asurion, on top of lots of $$ paying for phone insurance - all for nothing. This seems extremely unethical, and I would suggest paying for AppleCare or some other phone insurance over this ridiculous, money-grabbing, deceitful company.

    When my daughter’s iPhone broke, I called AT&T and they connected me to their insurance provider, Asurion. At first, the process seemed easy enough: We paid the deductible and they would send us an identical phone (I assumed it would be refurbished). The deductible was $122. Reasonable I thought. We got the replacement in 2 days. About a week later, she called saying that her phone was not getting *any* cell service and no WiFi on networks she was new to. I made an appointment with the Genius Bar at Apple. When I took it in, the Apple technician looked at the phone immediately asked: "Is this a replacement phone from Asurion?"

    Asurion is the 3rd party insurer that all mobile phone companies use. The tech told us they use Apple logic boards, but then piece together the rest of the iPhone with 3rd party parts. He put her SIM card in their ATT phone to test it and it worked perfectly. The technician called Asurion’s phone a “Frankenphone” because it was made up of mostly non-Apple parts. When I got home I immediately called AT&T and spoke to their retention department. I was courteous but upset. I couldn’t believe a company could operate by giving customers pieced-together phones. I expected a refurbished phone, but one made entirely from Apple parts. After discussing this with the AT&T rep, we decided that we would first talk with Asurion together and if I wasn't satisfied, she would connect me with ATT's warranty department to fix this. I really didn't want to speak with Asurion. If they have practices like this, why bother? But, I did.

    The woman I spoke with said they could send a replacement phone. I had already told her I knew exactly how they pieced together their phones. And, I didn't want another one of those. She told me she couldn't guarantee that I would get a new phone. I said I would accept a refurbished phone with ALL Apple parts. She still couldn't guarantee that. I told her I wouldn't accept that. She immediately connected me to Care Solutions department, Asurion’s tier 2 reps. Again, I conveyed my story. The woman said that if I went out and bought a new iPhone (a 6s 32 GB) at any retailer (she mentioned Apple, AT&T, and Best Buy) and faxed them the receipt, they would send us a check for the full amount. I kept repeating the offer just to make sure I heard everything correctly. So, I found the phone at Best Buy and bought it.

    When I tried to fax the receipt to Asurion, their fax number never worked. I tried three different fax machines. I called their Care Solutions and spoke with another representative. I asked her if I could email the receipt as an attachment. She said no; faxing was the only way I could submit the receipt. She asked me to try one more time. I replied, “And, what if it doesn’t work then?” Her answer: “Then there is nothing I can do.” What kind of customer service is that?! And, who faxes in 2018? I asked her to connect me to a higher up. She connected me to their corporate office. There I spoke with another representative.

    This rep said I could email the receipt to her and she gave me her email address. I promptly did and asked her to send me an email when she received it. She never did. I wrote her two more times, but she never responded. I called Asurion’s corporate offices once again. This time I spoke with another representative. She said I could email her my receipt and she would stay on the line until she received my email. She got it, but after looking at it, she said that the receipt had to have the new iPhone’s IMEI number imprinted on the receipt. This was the only receipt I had gotten from Best Buy. But, she refused to send it in for reimbursement. I asked her if I could tell her the IMEI and she said no. It had to be printed on the receipt. This was the first time I had heard of this requirement.

    I called the Best Buy store I bought it at to see if they could supply me with a receipt with the IMEI number. After looking into it, they couldn’t. Then I called Best Buy’s corporate office. The representative there said the phone I bought was a “universal” iPhone (one that could be activated by any cellphone provider) and that they didn’t track the IMEI numbers on those. On the advice of the initial Asurion Care Solutions representative I initially spoke with, I bought the iPhone for $529.99 at Best Buy. But, she never mentioned that I had to have an IMEI number on the receipt (and even if she did, that, as I found out, was impossible to do at Best Buy).

    I called AT&T retention department once again. She was going to try to get me my refund from AT&T, but, she said, there was no guarantee. Never heard back from her. Finally, I tweeted to Asurion my problem. They put me in touch with yet another rep. I told her the problems I was having and she said she’d take care of it. At the same time, I emailed the rep who said I needed to have the IMEI number printed on the receipt and sent her a photo of the IMEI number taken directly off the iPhone and a photo of the iPhone box with the IMEI number on it. I said that that would have to do. A couple days later she wrote me to say that they would make “an exception” and accept my documentation. I received a check in the mail a few days later.

    The problem is: why did I have to go through all of this? I must have spent at least 20 hours trying to sort this out. And, almost every step along the way, Asurion representatives failed to help me in a “customer-friendly” and timely manner. There were consistent roadblocks, from getting a working phone, to a non-working fax, to having to supply an IMEI number when I was never told that. It was upsetting.

    I also blame AT&T and all the other telecoms who use Asurion. Asurion is not providing even close to quality replacement phones. This is fraudulent. I’m sure AT&T knows this because I asked one of their reps whether they had gotten other complaints about them. And, she replied, yes. I read a couple weeks ago in the New York Times that Asurion had been selling extended guitar warranties to people living in Puerto Rico, even though they knew the warranties were not valid there. So, there are a number of questionable business practices Asurion uses.

    Asurion is a scam insurance company. My family of 4 recently joined Verizon where we were talked into joining Asurion and told it would be $33 to cover all 4 phones. Within a couple months they upped the rate to $39. I wanted to cancel 3 of our lines but keep just one insured. I was told we could not do that. We had to keep paying the $39 for all 4 lines or we had to cancel all 4. My daughter has a small crack in her phone at the top edge. We decided to have it fixed before canceling. We were given nothing but the run around. First she was told by Verizon she needed me to call and have her added as an authorized user to get her screen fixed. So I did that. She went back and now they told her she had to file a claim online. Even though twice we were told they could fix it right there at Verizon.

    So I had to file the claim online and now they want to give me a cheap screen. She has an iPhone 8 and so her phone should be replaced with an iPhone 8 waterproof screen. Now the $29 we were quoted to replace her screen we are being told will be $149. So I have paid them roughly $300 in insurance premiums. Then was given the run around about replacing the screen. Now being told it will be $149. The Apple store told us $99. So why does it cost 50% more to have it replaced through insurance? They told me at Apple not to ever trust the technicians with Asurion because most of them aren’t even certified and they probably would damage her phone and deny it. That is how they make their money.

    I lost my phone on 20th June and I claimed the same day and they told me to submit documents but I could not upload it because I see errors all the time so I called them and asked, “What should I do now?” They said, “Send us via fax” so I went to UPS to fax them my docs. I paid 8$ for fax and sent them and they said call us after 5 hours so we can review it. I called them after 6 hours. They said, “We never got your docs”. That was the first lie. Then I sent them again on 21st night and they were supposed to call me after 24 hours but they did not so I called them after 26 hours and asked what’s going on? They said, “We got your docs” and they asked me some security questions for verification... everything was done. That guy said, “We are approving your claim and you can go online and pay”.

    I went online and again they didn’t let me pay cause of error. So I called them again. They said, “You have to again wait for 24 hours 'cause your account is under advanced review” but the same thing they told me on 21st... so I said, "Lemme talk to your supervisor” and she put me on hold like 30 mins and finally said, “We are declining your claim because we contacted your account holder and he denied for this claim." I said, "That's not possible. I will talk to him and will tell him to call you”... when I call my account holder and asked about this he said he never got a call in 5 days 'cause his phone is still not working and it still in repair. That was the 2nd lie. It's been 5 days now. I bought a second phone from my friend until I get replacement phone so that I can talk to my parents who lives in different country and I don't remember their phone number.

    But they said again, "We can't do anything 'cause your phone is not compatible with the iPhone 6." So I wasted my money by buying that phone. And again the guy who was doing my sim activation he asked me about claim and I told him everything. He said, "I will talk to supervisor and will help you for sure." So supervisor talked to me asked some questions and she said give me account holder's alternative number so I can talk to him and verify and I gave them and they talked to him and verified everything and then she said, "Lemme talk to Asurion about this" and then after putting me on hold about 1 hour she came with very disturbance voice and when I said, "I can't hear you ma'am" she hung up at that moment. I did not get any help from them. It's been my 6th day without my phone and without using Sprint service. Do not go with Sprint. They always wants you to put more money but when we ask for help they never do it all.

    I have been paying the monthly premium for a couple years on my Sprint phone and on the advice of Sprint started to file a claim. I called in to the "helpdesk" and they informed me that I have to pay a deductible of over $240.00. AND there is no guarantee that I will get a new phone it will probably be a refurbished phone. After learning this I canceled the claim and will be eliminating the insurance policy. You pay that much a month and then get hit with a deductible for what is almost half the cost of a new phone with the chances better that you get a refurbished phone than a new one is terrible! Imagine having to pay half the cost of a new car as your insurance deductible after an accident and find out you are getting an older used car value instead of the value of your car... same thing here.

    My daughter had dropped her phone in the toilet. When drying it out didn't work, I looked into our insurance through Verizon. I was happy to find that this company allows everything to be done online. Even more surprising then everything being done online was their extremely reasonable deductible rates. The new phone was supposed to reach us within 2 business days, but it arrived the next day! Sending back the old phone was easy as well... All we had to do was put it in the envelope and drop it in the mailbox. We have had no issues with the new phone and a very happy with the insurance protection through Asurion.
