AT&T DirecTV is running a scam and getting away with it. My wife decided to rearrange our living room. So we moved everything around, then when we went to turn the television on there was no signal. I called DirecTV to troubleshoot the issue. They said the box has to stay in the same spot in order to get signal but for $50 they can change the spot! So every time you go to rearrange your living room they want you to pay them $50! Now that is a scam if there ever was one!

10.15.2017 Originally I tried to sign up online w/ internet. Then I seen a promotion they were having with a DIRECTV/internet bundle. When I scrolled to the scheduling a technician to come out to install DIRECTV & internet. The only options were Monday through Friday 9 am - 11 am. I thought this was weird. I then called DIRECTV/AT&T. I first explained to them that I work these hours. Is it feasible that a technician can come out on Saturday to install DIRECTV & Internet. Rep Jessica said yes. Took 2 hours to go through the process on the phone to set up DIRECTV & internet. I got through the DIRECTV portion. Disconnected once with the transfer to the manager Mike from Rep Jessica to go over terms and conditions for the DIRECTV portion. He called back.

Then he transferred me back to Jessica after going through DIRECTV terms and conditions, as well as answered all my questions. Got disconnected again. Jessica called back. The rep Jessica transferred me to a outsourced department for the internet portion. It was loud in the background & I'm pretty sure this department was not located within the United States. Not prejudice. Just made an observation. I was under the impression that 1 technician would come out to install both internet & DIRECTV portion.

The guy from the internet department "Jon" assisted me with getting the best high quality internet bundle for my buck. At the very end. He told me that there was only 2 options. Wednesday or Friday a technician can come out between the hours 9 am through 11 am or 1 pm and 3 pm. Got disconnected a 3rd time. Rep called back. Told "Jon" Those options did not work. When I realized I had already set up a technician to come out on Saturday to install what I thought was both cable and internet. I realized it would be a separate tech on a separate day. Frustrated I ended up cancelling both and going with Comcast.

To sum it all up. I was disconnected 3 times from a rep. I was under the impression that the internet/ DIRECTV would be installed by the same technician. I was misinformed that they outsource their contract technicians who have inconvenient hours to set up internet. Two separate entities would send a tech from each department to install the internet and DIRECTV portion on 2 different days. Now I'm 32, single a RN, no kids and no one could actually come to my apartment over the age of 18 to wait on these days.

If I had to make any choice. I would go with DIRECTV as the cable $50 and go with Comcast for internet $25 but I choose out of frustration to go with just Comcast... I got HBO, STARZ, CINEMAX, TMC SHOWTIMES and 100 channels w/ internet 75 mbps unlimited a month for $101.25 with no contract and 1 technician will come out on Saturday 10 am -12 pm to set up BOTH cable and Internet service. It took 12 minutes... online... so definitely well worth it. Btw I'm not advertising for Comcast. I have a RN job and I think people should know their options before wasting time with crappy companies.

We had a new roof installed and of course the DirecTV dish was moved. A call on Thursday said the earliest service would be on Saturday between noon and 4 PM. At four I called and said no one had showed up. Excuses and When I called and was told that the schedule time was noon to 7 PM. I replied no and further checking saw that it was to be by 4 PM. At 7:30 pm, my first call was disconnected. The next call agent indicated that they didn’t know what was happening and I could reschedule for Sunday morning. As we attend church, I said that was not acceptable. It is now 9:15 PM and no calls and no service. We have discovered that rabbit ear antenna allows us to watch local channels and the internet provides a lot of shows. So we don’t need Directv - there are other options that are less expensive. Since ATT bought Directv, the service has declined, the frustrations have increased and we be looking for other options.

I received a call from directv representative and offered some incentives and promotional offers to return as a customer for Directv. I was told that I would get a credit on my account that would enable me to not have a payment for up to 3 to 4 months without having to pay. This was including installation and everything. We did schedule an installation date but I did have to cancel, but scheduled another installation on Oct. 3rd 2017. My account showed a credit of 371.88 on my Sept. Statement but after installation they took the credit back and told me that if I cancel because of not owning up to the bargain that I would be charge a 350.00 cancelation fee because I was under contract now.

We have had DirecTV for several years now. After our first contract expired we did go back to cable but after 6 weeks we left cable and have been with DirecTV ever since, it has been over 7 years now. The only negative about them is when it storms heavy we lose our satellite for sometimes a few minutes up to several minutes. We had to lower our package since the prices went up, we had to give up a few channels we liked, considering getting the larger package again... Otherwise very happy with DirecTV, no more cable for me.

Why is the programming so bad? There are thousands of films to choose from but consistently 20 year old movies are shown 20 times a week or more. Film shouldn't be allowed to be shown more than 20 times in 6 months. A trained monkey could do better programming than what is available on DirecTV.

We've had bad boxes, bad cards for the boxes, missing channels, and simply just no connection to our channels! I've seriously just gotten to the point where I have stopped trying to get it to work. It isn't worth the fight anymore, because if it's not one thing it's another. I would NEVER recommend DirecTV to a friend! I wouldn't even recommend it to someone I didn't like!

Would give less if that was an option, saw this website and had to make an account just to make people aware of my experience with DirecTV. Promised the same low rate across the 2 year contract and was told all sorts of things I can do like add just one channel from a higher package, only to find out they will lie and say whatever to get you to sign then all human civility and decencies are out the window.

After the intro period and the HBO and specials dropped off, you find out through an outrageous new bill amount that after these promotions go away the cost goes up for not bundling unless you keep them and start paying the extra for that. Multiple times having to find random new bill amounts for new reasons that I had to spend hours on the phone to resolve. Was so fed up with the outsourcing for customer service as well as any complaint gets "escalated" to the customer service manager but that's as far as you can go, no option to speak to anyone higher up or even the CEO.

I had to write complaints to the better business bureau and it was the only way to get a useful response from anyone and it was just a discount from just over $500 dollars for early termination to over 300 that I was more than willing to spend to never have to talk to the scum that is DirecTV. The fact they are allowed to advertise #1 customer service is laughable and they should be shut down and fined for false advertisement. On this site alone they can't even get 2 stars. I have been a DirecTV customer for about 4 years now and the service hasn't been utterly amazing. However, it was far worse service through cable. DirecTV has high prices unfortunately though and the prices for expenses of unknown charges seem to become more frequent as well as more expensive. At times, I am charged for specific items on my bill I didn't even purchase. The customer service and support has (more often than not) shown to be decent and fairly helpful so I can't complain I suppose. I may eventually end up trying Dish or something more affordable. For now though, DirecTV is alright and I'll probably be continuing service with them for at least another year or two.

I have been an AT&T customer since at least 2006, bundling television, internet, and phone services. My television package was U300. U300 includes several premium movie channels. Around June 7 of this year, an AT&T sales representative came to my door and offered me a bundling package if I switched my television provider to DirecTV and kept internet and telephone with AT&T. He said "You will keep every channel you have now plus a couple of sports channels." The cost would be $73 for television and $30 for internet. Telephone would stay the same. I agreed and the changeover was made the next day. The deal included an agreement to stay in the contract for two years with a heavy penalty for early withdrawal.

I came to find out later that the television "Choice" television package he signed me up for did not include any premium movie channels as well as several other channels that I was getting with U300. There was no misunderstanding. He lied to me. As part of the deal, I was to receive the HBO and Cinemax movie channels in addition to the premium movie channels I was already getting with U300 free for three months with the understanding that I would have to call and cancel these services at the end of the three month promotion or be charged for them after that time. On September 7, I called DirecTV to cancel HBO and Cinemax and was informed by recorded message that I was not signed up for either.

Since that time, they have been charging me for the "Premier" television package, the most expensive, which I never agreed to. Today, October 9, I called DirecTV to try to settle the matter. They refused to abide by the product and cost promised by their sales representative or to waive the early withdrawal penalty. Instead, I was offered their "Xtra" television package at a promotional rate for six months, after which the price would go up to the standard rate. I accepted only because that was the best alternative they would offer me. I am extremely dissatisfied with the whole experience. When the contract period is over, AT&T will almost certainly lose me as a customer.

DirecTV was our first satellite experience. It was so good (to begin with) that I referred my mom, and anyone who asked. When I changed to Dish (mainly because I could get internet and satellite in one statement - instead of 2 separate bills) they were still very understanding. My mom had hers disconnected for a while because she was displaced from her mobile home for several months. When I decided to help (because of financial/health issues of hers) I had it reconnected for her... and she was able to be independent again - in her own home. She lives in a tiny 2 bedroom mobile home, that she takes pride in because it's "hers". So - she wanted her bill to be in her name, and to be taken out of her own account. I finally agreed--and it has been "horrible" Ever Since!

They began deducting money from her banking account, in addition to my credit card. I have talked to at least 3 people regarding this issue, being assured it would be elevated to the supervisors, and taken care of, immediately. I have even printed off "chats" and e-mails regarding these conversations. I do not know what else to do. I was put on hold one time until my phone went dead, about 45 minutes--because I had every intention of getting this resolved. To No Avail. I will never recommend DirecTV again. I am getting a statement now for over 500.00, and it's going to collections--for an account that does Not exist--now. Wouldn't we have a receiver to return--if this was an actual account? HELP! I am considering an attorney, which would cost even more, and my credit is being ruined at the same time! How can they get away with this?!

DirecTV chooses to not be upfront with their clients and rather hides information from them including choosing to ignore specific questions and requests while on the phone. I had a satellite dish in my backyard from them the size of a car, that was my duty to discharge. If I had known that I had to remove that large piece that was hammered into the ground I would've never allowed its monstrous construction. I'm more than disappointed in them for putting that on the consumer. I returned my in-home rental equipment the very next day and I had a balance of $59, today three weeks later I received a bill for $248 stating that it's the fees for my unreturned equipment. After calling and speaking to an associate over the phone she told me she could remove the charges but then put me on hold three times to check to see what she could do.

Each time she placed me on hold and returned to the phone it was not to confirm she fixed my account but rather to sell me something else. I blankly told her I was not interested and that I was leaving the country. I did not need cable service. She was not listening to me and continued this another 3 Times. It was odd and I felt as though it was a joke because I'd say one thing such as I'd like to speak to a manager and she'd come back with another program that I could stream while overseas. It was bizarre. I eventually told her she was not helping me so I was hanging up. Maybe she didn't understand my words, who knows. But it was bizarre and a time waster.

After all that I was not allowed to speak to a manager, I was not credited the unlawful fees that they inflicted on my card. And I was not given the original credit that was on my account. DirecTV took everything from me, and I'm the one that had to do all the work! What a disgusting company. I can't believe they're still in business. They don't even have a real and true customer service dept. Each call to them is unfulfilling. And there's no other way to reach them. Disgusting.

Here it is a year in, halfway through the contract period, and my bill goes up over 40%... Because I didn't bundle my DirecTV service with another AT&T service. Something that the call center said was new... Incredibly shady that they just up the price a halfway through. My grandmother just moved and I had it installed at the new place since I'm still under contract for a year and had to pay $200 for that and now the bill is up and I can't drop service unless I pay a discontinuation fee. Utterly ridiculous. I'll be dropping service once the contract is up.

I had to call 5 times over the next couple months to finally get them to correct the bill. Then they charged me a late fee for part of the bill I should never have been charged for. Now they claim they can only cancel part of the late fee so I'm stuck with having to pay the rest.

I was assured that if I called and canceled by a certain date there would be no change, which I did. After the three months I started getting billed. I called them again. They said they would remove charges from my bill. Also I asked if there were any promotions. She told me that I was such loyal customer that I was eligible to receive a discount of twenty dollars off my bill. She did not speak very clear English. I was delighted to get discount. I received an e-mail a few days later that by accepting this discount I had extended my contract with them for two years. I felt it was a very underhanded way to do business and I called and canceled. Until this time I have been pleased with their service. Also been an ATT customer for several years. On or about 9/13/2017 I had the unfortunate pleasure of inviting a AT&T, DirecTV solicitor into my home at a senior mobile home park I live in Southern California. He can give me DirecTV for $49.99 for two years guaranteed with HBO and all the other movie channels free for one year.

I agree, initial a few things and sign his paperwork, he tells me they charge a month ahead of time so I give him a debit card number. Next day a very nice guy comes to install everything. After he does the install and explains the remote and DVR to us he asked to see the paperwork the other guy left. The next day I ask my wife where the paperwork was and she tells me the installer took it with him. Saturday the 16th I look up DirecTVs number on the web and give them a call. I tell the rep. Ron, they took my paperwork. I have no account number or anything. Ron tells me my account number and that its $65.23 with tax and everything for first year with a $30 discount credited to the account and after that it would jump to $90 something a month.

From the about the 16th of September through the 28th. I have gone back and forth with DirecTV and AT&T via the phone about canceling the service because their rep's mislead and lied to me. They have continued to charge my bank account after telling me they wouldn't and have not given me a refund of $49.99 with. Buyer beware: The AT&T contract means nothing. I have never had such poor service in my life. I am shaking angry and I don’t get angry. I have cried on the phone, I’ve been so angry. We received our 2nd bill (yes we've only been customers for 8 weeks) and it was wrong. Long story short, I was told that the quote I was given when I signed up ($99.99 for 24 mos. for the Entertainment pkg) in August was incorrect because they stopped running that special in May and therefore it couldn't be honored. Even though the person I spoke with on the phone for an hour this morning assured me that it would be fixed and she was sending me an email to confirm everything. I called tonight because I haven't received the emails. The person that I spoke with said that it the prices couldn’t be fixed because they’re not running that special anymore.

Let’s back up: Last month I contacted DirecTV because we didn’t have ESPN, even though it was part of the Entertainment (99.99/mos.) package. “Anthony” who I spoke with assured me that it was a mistake on their end and that although we were being charged the $99.00 a month, we were only getting the “Select” channels (the $79.99 pkg). So he “turned” the additional channels on. He assured me that my bill was still $99.99/mos. through the remaining 23 mos. of our contract. When I contacted DirecTV about not receiving CBS due to contract negotiations, she assured me that she would take money off of our bill each month until it was resolved. (This was after she was adamant about checking our cable box to make sure it was working. She wanted to send a tech repair-person out. I had to explain to her that all of the other channels worked, but CBS was a contract situation.)

When we got our bill this week, not only was it not cheaper, it was $25 more than it should be. That’s when I called this morning to fix things. Each person that I have spoken to, has LITERALLY told me that the person before them gave me the wrong information. Here is some of the misinformation that I’ve been told: 1.) We were told that we couldn’t get U-Verse because it being phased into DirecTV. 2.) When the first person came out to install our dish, he said that he wouldn’t be able to do it without drilling through the ceiling of our finished basement. He didn’t have the right tools. But that the guy who would come out to install the phone lines, would have the tools. The phone line guy told us that the other man was lazy and just didn’t want to do the work. 3.) The phone lineman made us change the base of our phones to the basement because that’s the only place that he could get it to work. (Even though it worked fine before.)

4.) The phone lineman left his tools and equipment at our house. I’ve called his number numerous times asking him to pick it up. I called his supervisor’s number and I’ve talked with customer service. I was told that someone would pick it up. Then I would need to return it to an AT&T store, and then that they would be sending prepaid boxes for me to send it back in. I still have the equipment. 5.) We were told that we would NEVER have any issues with the Dish and weather “unless there was a tornado on top of our house” because DirecTV “made a new military-grade spray that deflects the rain from the dish.” It wasn’t until my 3rd phone call that I was told that it wasn’t a rain issue that it was a “line of sight” issue. 6.) We were told that we would have Caller ID on our television. After numerous calls we were told that our main cable box actually does not allow for caller ID.

7.) Today when I was asked about the compensation for not having CBS, she told me that no one is getting compensation right now because it is only taken care of after the negotiations are complete. I told her that I had numerous friends that were already receiving $8.99 off their bill for it. Some were also being given free channels. She told me that that was wrong — and that at the end of the negotiations we would be credited at the rate of $5 per day that we didn’t have CBS. She (Kristen) assured me that she would put it all in writing and email it to me. She also told me that if I have had any questions, not to call customer service, but to call the Customer Loyalty department. When I called tonight, they wouldn’t put me through to that department. Finally when I said that I wanted to cancel my service, they put me there.

Imagine my surprise when “Michael” couldn’t give me the price that I was promised (without taking away channels) and although he said that he read all of the notations from my call this morning with Nina and then Kristen promising to fix everything, nothing that I was told was documented and he “couldn’t speak for the other agents” as to way I never received the emails. 8.) We are canceling our service effective 10/8. I was told that we will not have to pay out the remaining 22 months of our contract because DirecTV is the one in breech. I am typically the cheeriest, most kind person you will meet. I am trustworthy. I have friends who own businesses and thank me for the numerous clients that go to their business base on my word -- I can’t think of ever talking negatively about a company. But I will tell every person and every outlet I know what horrible and distrust-worthy a company AT&T is and to stay far away.

DTV is continually a deceptive company that makes offers they cannot fulfill by using misleading phrasing and false advertising. Any device anytime, with NFL Sunday Ticket Streaming is such a lie. It is one device at a time per account, so even a family cannot watch from multiple device. Someone should sue you for false advertising.

On Friday Sept. 29th at about 2:00 pm my DirecTV service went down. Nothing on both TV’s in my home. I waited 30 minutes and nothing so I called the DirecTV service number, after being on hold for 33 minutes a person came on the line who I could barely understand. I explained my problem, and after another half an hour of explaining on my behalf and going through numerous gyrations as requested by the telephone rep. nothing worked. The rep then said they would send a service person out on Tuesday. As explained by the rep the service person in my area only covers my area on Tues. and Thurs.

So, I guess I wait with no TV service until Tues. the 3rd. On Sunday Oct. 1st I again called the DirecTV service number to check that I am on the schedule for Tues. Guess what? I was not on the schedule, so again I was told I would be added to the schedule for Tues. the 3rd. DirecTV/AT&T has got to have the worst service of any provider. I have been a customer of DirecTV for 20 years, but after this fiasco I am canceling both my DirecTV service and AT&T internet service.

Today (9/30/2017) we paid for a rental movie and the movie would not play. Instead, we received the error "There was a problem connecting to DirecTV". In short, DirecTV is charged us for a service they (and their network) are unable to deliver. We are contacting DirecTV for a refund of the charge to our account.

I attempted to get new DirecTV service installed at my house from Sept 1-Sept 30. FIVE different installers came to my home! Here is what happened: 1st Installer said he had only worked at the job for 3 weeks and didn't know how to do it. 2nd Installer showed up 3 hours late, made a plan of action to do the job, then said he couldn't do it because his department was closed. 3rd Installer told me he had to leave because his daughter was sick. Told me his supervisor would call me. No call came. 4th Installer said he could only do the job if someone ran cables. Claimed he was not allowed. Conflicting report with that of 2nd Installer. This installer arranged for a 'buddy' to run the cables that weekend for a fee. His 'buddy' was a no call, no show. I had to call DirecTV again and schedule another installer.

5th Installer is supposed to come today. Waiting to see what new drama unfolds! If they don't get the job done, I am through! All of this because of the NFL Sunday Ticket Monopoly with DirecTV! I have literally been on the phone with DirecTV/AT&T AT LEAST 20-25 HOURS!!! I have been transferred to the wrong department AT LEAST 15-25 times. Sheer incompetence and poor service. The private installation companies that DirecTV uses are not monitored for customer satisfaction. Absolutely ridiculous!

I felt disappointed that they didn't offer alternatives. That's why I feel they don't deserve more than three stars. As soon as my two years are up I am going with a company who will provide me with what I need and don't have to sign any contracts to be forced into remaining their customer. If a company excels in service and product, the customers are happy and loyal, no need to force them to remain buying their service.

DirecTV worked well before AT&T took over. Since then it's a lot less reliable and the signal quality has diminished significantly. There are more outages and many new problems that never happened before at all. For example, sometimes recorded shows cannot be scrubbed. Which is hard to understand unless AT&T has made a deal with advertisers to prohibit fast forwarding through ads despite charging customers for the feature.

I have called 3 times now, and each time they claim they cannot find my order number and either put me on infinite hold or hung up altogether. The people who answered the phone claimed they couldn't hear me and that I should "slow down" when talking to them. They say in the email that they will cancel my order if they don't hear from me. If you want to buy a Veggie Bullet, do an Organic Juice Cleanse or a Tummy Tuck Miracle, buy an Amazing 3 in 1 tool, or Grow Thicker Hair, then this may be for you.

I have had Cox and Comcast in the past. I can't say they were much better. They are all pretty much the same. I am in a rural area and don't have many options. They advertise a $25.00 deal on TV now including up to 4 boxes. I'm paying monthly for box rentals. If you are a existing customer, even if you are out of contract, you can not get that kind of deal. You would think Cable/Satellite Companies would offer better deals to their customers that have have been with them a number of years to keep their business, but they don't. My bills have not been under $315 for service for each month. Beware of a gift card of $100 for signing up, they find a way to collect the money back. This company is about deceptive trade practices and prides themselves on cutting your services off and changing the rates (that are supposedly locked in for consumers) at their conveniences. I've been a loyal customer for very long time. Today I called to inquire about reducing my plan as I have a lot of channels that I do not watch. I was not in front of my TV or a computer at the time of calling. The person I was speaking to was named, Brian. Brian made me feel pretty dumb to be quite honest. He asked what channels I watched often so I told him I watched ESPN but was uncertain of the other channels at this time as I haven't put much thought into it. He then stated "Ok, I'll move you to the Entertainment package" and proceeded to make the change.

When I asked what that was and what was included in it, he made me feel stupid as If I should know what was included in this package. I asked if it had Fox or FX and he grew frustrated stating "Well I just asked you what you watched and you told me nothing". So instead of brainstorming with me as to what is the best fit, you just change it to some random plan. I don't appreciate people or services like this. If you want to be treated with respect and speak to someone knowledgeable and takes the time to actually CARE about your needs, PLEASE sign up with a different company.

DirecTV is horrible, from the TV losing cable service every time there is a drop of rain up to the worst customer service I have ever received in my entire life. I am a victim of Hurricane Irma and due to the hurricane I am moving out of state. The first lady I talked to wanted to charge me $420 for my cancellation of service and I had to fight with her to receive a waive of that fee due to being a hurricane victim. She then explained to me that she would have pre-paid shipping boxes out to me the day before I move. The day before my move comes along, and I didn't receive any boxes. I called DirecTV once again and another representative let me know that the lady I talked to gave me false information and that the boxes wouldn't be shipped to me until the day my service stopped.

I am unable to travel with the modems during my move and I asked kindly for an address so that I could come out of pocket and pay to have the modems shipped back to them. He explained that it wasn't possible and gave me a rude, condescending attitude. I asked to speak with his supervisor and he had me on hold for 20 minutes so I hung up and called back. I spoke with another representative and asked for a supervisor. She transferred me to another representative who told me that a supervisor wasn't available and that she could help me with my problem.

She said all I would have to do is go into a UPS store and that they would know what to do. I figured something was suspicious so I called the UPS store and asked if I were to bring the modems in to them if they would know what to do. UPS explained that they had no idea what I was talking about and that they don't have an account with UPS. I called DirecTV back and asked to speak with a supervisor. No one has yet transferred me to anyone that can help me with this issue. Their service SUCKS and their representatives are liars. And it's a shame that no one higher up has the ability to attend to their customer's needs on an urgent matter. I will never in my life pay for DirecTV again.

They ended up honoring the remainder of the contract, said there was a clause, that was never told to me, that I had to purchase one other ATT item to remain at that price. I have a 24 month contract for $62 for tv service that was purchased at Costco. After 12 months my rates went up to over $100 and they claimed it was because of the AT&T merger. They threw my contact in the trash, but I'm still required to stay and pay the higher price or they will charge me a cancellation fee. After 4 phone calls they won't budge.
