I needed to advertise in the paper book so I reached out to DexYP. So far, we've gotten some work that way.

I opened account after a persistent salesperson sold me on the S.E.O. and leads it would bring. I thought it might be a good fit. I had an emergency and could not set up my website right away, so Dex took upon themselves to put up a website and did not send me a link to authorize the content and went ahead and published it with my HOME address on it! They did not care what was published. Just wanted to give me service so they could justify charging my credit card to the tune of $600.00. Not worth the $ and very upset that my home address was published. This company: Pressure, pressure, pressure. They didn't even take the time to research where my company was based out of. Just get the money! I would use Yelp or Google.

DexYP salesperson Joan ** sold me a BAD online ad campaign 12 month contract. For 6 months, I paid with no results. I then called and asked to cancel. The sales people freaked when I did this. They offered me one free month, and begged me to resign up with a new 12 month program called a CLICKS program. The new program required a new 12 month Contract, which extended my time paying DexYP to a total of 18 months. Which wasn't what I wanted. She promised I could OPT OUT after 6 months. But now, months after resigning, their billing is insisting I need to pay all the way to the END. Joan ** isn't returning my calls now. And Billing says only she can give the approval to OPT OUT. At the same time, I've been in the slow season, and can't afford this anymore. DexYP has completely ignored me for months now.
I've repeatedly asked them to cancel, pay less per month until the busy season returns, or allow me to buy my way out of the contract. BILLING tells me, if I don't pay them, I will be sent to their own collections agency for the full contract amount. I feel manipulated and exploited by DexYP. Also, there is a new issue: FAKE INQUIRiES to my business and lots of them. Since working with DexYP, I've received many random client inquiries, often with similar verbiage, none responding back after I write them. DexYP really hurt me. I've been thinking about closing my business just to get them off my domain. Which is really sad. They don't tell me at all what my ad campaigns look like or where the money is being allocated. I don't want to hear from them ever ever again! Suing them is the ONLY WAY out!!!

Good afternoon, Michael -

When we started out, DexYP was the one that was tied in with the telephone company. Right now, we got several web page and we have some ads in the book. We got about five phone books with DexYP. So, more people use them than the other ones. However, DexYP is getting less and less valuable for us because of these mobile phones. Nevertheless, my experience with them has been all right.

This company is robbing me and will not resolve my issue! I signed up 1/12/2018 for services, I opted for a service package $199.00 a month. It was to be for 12 months. I also opted to pay additional $5 to avoid automatic debits. The advertising for my business was to be on 70 websites, and 5000 text message/emails, 8 posts on Facebook & assistance on my website. I was to get a set-up phone call and that never happened, I called three times with no solution and most of the phone calls their employees couldn't even find my account. Then 2/1/2018 they charge my account 199.00 (an automatic debit that was not supposed to happen). I called in, spent 53 minutes trying to resolve the issue & the outcome was $199 credit & they will have my account properly & formerly set up on Monday 2/5/2018.
It is now Wednesday 2/7/2018 and no one there has answers for me, but this SCAMMING company will not cancel my contract. I 100% believe this business DEXYP THRYV is a SCAM!! Do Not sign up with them. They do not provide the services they sell you on! Please dont make the same mistake I have made. No One there will help me.

We've been with DexYP even when they were still DexMedia. We only do a print ad so DexYP calls or comes in once a year to make adjustments and then we don’t hear from them until the next year. Their sales reps have been pleasant, informative and efficient. Moreover, they are usually all business. They come in and they get straight to the point. Print is still great to have so we don’t have any other advertising concerns. They get it done right the first time so we don’t have to have any issues. However, if we did have an issue, I know I could call and immediately get it resolved.

We all got together and said, “We could do a better website.” DexYP kept bugging us and they were the old-fashioned advertising company which I grew up on. Yellow Pages was slowly fading away and people weren't reading the yellow pages like they used to. But we've been keeping a small presence that goes along with what we're doing. We reached out to DexYP because there were some other companies that had tried to get involved in this service and I didn’t think they had the reliability that Dex had. Our dealings with the customer service reps at DexYP have all been fine. Whenever we had a problem, they were right on it and took care of it.
Dex built us. They showed us what they could do and we filled in the in-between. They've been a great support for additional business. New accounts come across my desk, then we try to position who brought them in and how they got here. About a third of our new accounts come from that arena. The service is a little expensive but it's paying off. So far, they're doing a good job. We've been very happy because we get several calls a week looking for products that we have up there on the website.

I run a small business and received a sales call from YP about advertising. Being I have a couple of business locations I thought it would be a good idea. On the phone Abagail ** promised the moon (I should have known). So, I committed to advertising with the Thryv service as well as the basic ads. Soon thereafter I realized that Thyrv was not made for my business, I could not use it at all. So, I first contacted Thryv, they said to call YP. So I did... over and over and over, zero response. I tried to contact Abagail **, left messages, email... nothing. Then I called Jacob ** her boss... nothing. I made 4-5-6 requests to open a case online... nothing. They would just mysteriously be closed in a couple of days.
Ironically, I was originally was calling to increase the standard advertising, because I was adding a location. NOW I would never advertise with them again. I stopped all payments, but they keep sending me invoices. At this point I am going to spend my advertising dollar with a company who provides results and cares about my business as much as I do. You know it is hard to make it as a business owner, support a family. YP... DEX whoever they are today, has done nothing but make my business more difficult. Thanks, when I have 100 locations I will remember it.

We've used DexYP for years. We just transitioned into a website and all the electronic world that's out there now, and DexYP has been helpful. My rep, Jonathan, is very nice. He is the one I deal with on a monthly basis and anytime I need something. He immediately responds to me and he's worked with me throughout this process of creating and getting my website up and running to suit me and our needs. We're an OB-GYN medical office, and we talk a lot during our monthly calls about keywords to draw people in. So that's been a real big help. We have DexYP in place for our advertising in Phonebooks, for our email, and for our website. Our sales rep, Joe, is great and I like him a lot. He's a really good guy. However, having any contact with customer relations has been a major struggle for me. After getting signed up for all the things that they talked about, it was very hard to get a hold of anybody. We've been switched over to this new program now for a year. I have talked to somebody one time, and only because I reached out to Joe first. I asked him why their people aren't calling me back. I even emailed them this morning, and everybody that I emailed is on vacation.
Their service hasn't been that great. I've had issues with the email and with getting the pictures on the website updated. Also, I can't open our invoices because I don't have my login information. They said they were going to send it to me several times. We're looking into a new company to take over our email services because no matter what they do, I don't have enough space in my inbox to hold everything that I need it to hold. Nobody here is very satisfied.

We've always had a one-liner ad in the yellow pages for years. It had our company name, as well as our phone number. Then, a rep from DexYP contacted us to renew it. We went over it, and since we can get a two and a half inch of ad that will also be on several different search engines that people will have more access to, we agreed to put it together. After all, it's just for a couple of dollars more a month. And while we're not expecting to do any business out of having our name on their phone book, we still have it in case somebody wants to look up and see if our name is in there. DexYP... or Dex Media... or Thryv is all the same thing. They are just trying to hide under different names because reputation is so bad already and they will put up a show to get you in. Promises of new clients! Promises of this amazing booking/payment system! Promises of amazing marketing tools! NO! Lies lies lies and lies. They wont tell you about their 30 days free trial... they wont tell you about their smaller packages. So you get this illusion and expectation only to be shattered because it takes 5 business days to get paid through their "amazing" system.
Booking system is horrible. You have to type the client's info ALL the time... EVERY appt. It's so annoying and clients get annoyed. So when I signed this contract I sold my soul to the devil because there is no going back, no cancellation, no downgrading, there is no communication, they DO NOT call back... ever! Do not sign with this company. They do not deliver what is promised and you are stuck paying for something you don't even like or use. They will say, "Oh but this is a contract and you signed it..." meaning get ready for 12 months of paying for unhappiness. READ REVIEWS FIRST. This company is out to get you money, they only care about their commission.

The service is really good and their rep, Cherry, has always been helping me and she makes sure I don't get cancelled on payments and I don't fall behind on anything that's coming up so, all my payments are on time. I also make sure with her that nothing gets changed without my consent and make sure everything keeps growing. I like that she keeps calling me all the time to touch base and see how my business is doing. But I'd like to have someone come back and talk about making sure everything is still rolling like it should be with the advertising on Google and what more they could do for me so I could have a bigger area to spread for advertising.

I operate a small barber shop and was approached several times by John of Dex Media. He explained that for $80 a month his company would claim my business on multiple platforms (Google, Yelp etc.) and maintain all content to be uniform and current. Not being internet savvy I decided to try Dex. After three weeks of nothing happening, I did a Google search of my business and saw nothing had changed. I claimed my business's Google listing myself and several others and learned they cost nothing to claim.
It was clear that Dex Media is charging for a service that can be performed easily and for no cost. I wrote and emailed Dex's headquarters and emailed the original sales rep. requesting to cancel my subscription and cease billing my credit card. I was informed I had signed a 12 month agreement and could not be let out of it. I do not recall being told the receipt I signed was binding for 12 months. This company is not one to trust or do business with.

It was only a problem when sometimes we call and it takes a few days to call us back. They answered the questions but they were not getting back to us on time. We put an ad on the Yellow Pages and that's how we are connected with them. Most people now are on the internet and looking for the church service so older generation probably still have Yellow Pages and they look up the information. We have display ads and it's okay. In the past, they wanted to do more but we don't want to go too much on the social media. We're good with what we have. The fact that somebody is looking for the church and they can go online or they can look up on the Yellow Page is good for us. However, they should at least keep communication.

They also do weekly calls with us, as well as a presentation which shows how we're doing, if we're getting calls from certain advertisements. The only bad thing about them is trying to get a hold of them regarding our billing issue, which is them constantly telling us that we were late with our payment. Then this year went through all the proofs for my print ad and then I am not listed anywhere in the book!!! Nothing, not the white pages either. I also work for another company and handle their advertising and they linked their billing to my account and still have not unlinked it after several calls and contacts. I have advertised with Dex for over 30 years! They will damage your business.

We took over a business that has been advertising with the Yellow Pages and we carried on with whoever was carrying that book until it turned into DexYP. Their customer service team has been helpful and for years, we’ve never had any problems with them. We have the service for people to be able to look up our bike and ski shop, and get a hold of us. At one point in time, we had a webpage through them but it was just a basic presence and it wasn't something that they maintained. People these days probably aren’t using the phonebook as much as they use their smartphones, but there are also some rural areas around here that don’t get internet. So, being in the phonebook helps those people.

So, Ryan ** suckered me in for another 12 months with YP. I've been trying to cancel for years, but they keep lowering my rate and offering me something new to justify advertising via an obsolete method. I'm willing to keep trying since the price is right and because I liked the idea of trying something new. He said, in addition to the same services I was already being provided he would also throw in some Direct Mail marketing. Great!
So, come October, I was supposed to begin that process. I had already sent over our logo and artwork... but nothing happened. Come November I called for an update via the YP call center. They said they would have my rep call me back. Never happened. Come December I called for an update via the YP call center. They said they would have my rep call me back. Never happened. Come January I called for an update via the YP call center. They said they would have my rep call me back. Never happened.
This process is getting quite tedious... because every time the call center takes about 5 minutes to verify my identity/account... and then puts me on hold for 5 to 10 minutes to contact my sales rep... only to come back on the line and say they cannot reach my rep and they will have my rep call me back. Which doesn't happen. I have also tried calling my rep directly... that doesn't work either. FRUSTRATING! So, YP, good job! You'e finally done it... you've driven the nail in your own coffin. Your advertising model is done with my business.

I signed up with YP.com after listening to their presentation hosted by SCORE. I believed that they would help me grow my new small business. It has been a total waste of money. My sales rep, Crystaldawn **, SOLD me on the leads that would be generated from my relationship with YP.com. What a joke! The calls... the few that I have received have been worthless. I wish that I had read the reviews on FB before signing the contract because I'm being told that there is NO CANCELLATION ALLOWED. Unbelievable! So, YP.com doesn't deliver as promised and small businesses are left to pay a monthly fee for worthless advertising.
I will advise SCORE not tarnish their reputation by aligning themselves with YP.com again and report my issue to the BBB. I'm locked into this contract until May 2018 and my request for a hardship consideration for cancellation was denied by YP.com. My repeated calls to them have fallen on deaf ears. Crystaldawn, who was always available when she was reeling in me, has not responded to my numerous messages. I can't say this loudly enough to any small fledgling business owner, like myself, STAY AWAY, from YP.com!

We have their phonebook service. They do a good job on advertising and they do a good number of placements but I just don’t know if it’s viable anymore. But they see that and they’re also moving into different media source like for websites and stuff like that. They said. “Well, don’t worry about it. We have computer people that will help you get on online and do this and do that and do this.” They’re pushing the computer stuff more and more everyday. So that keeps them a little ahead of the game. I would not have a problem recommending them.

I worked with DexYP this fall. We're really busy in the summer because we're in the boating industry. We sat down and I just texted their rep, Abby, what I needed then and she got it done. For the most part, she was able to answer my questions. What she couldn't answer, she sent off and got it taken care of. As far as I know, everything is up to date.
We do our own in-house marketing stuff. DexYP's services has been great because they've made the changes that needed to be made. We had some name recognition issues, where they had to change everything, but there was a whole bunch of mess across the board and on all the webpages. As far as I know, everything has been switched over. They took care of all the stuff that was mismarked and misnamed on all the service they can get changes made to. We took the basic tier and it took some time to get everything fixed, but there's no way I could have done it myself. Depending on the business and how many name changes they have in there, I would definitely recommend DexYP because of the cost. We got a lot of stuff taken care of for the cost of doing business.

Let me say that we have been customers of Dex for quite a long time. Our problems began when we signed up for the display brand awareness, the fee was 500.00 a month for a year of which we paid on time. It was not money well spent, when it came time for renewal I told our rep that we wanted it cancelled. He was not happy about it but I did renew our phone book listing which came up for renewal at the same time, the contract I signed had a start date and a end date for the phone book listing but not the online ad so figured it was correct. The following month they billed us for the online listing and my wife paid it thinking it was a phone book ad the next month.
I realized the mistake and informed them that this ad was cancelled. The only response we got was a past due bill, for 6 months we wrote letters and notes on the bill that the service was not renewed, now a year later we are getting collections companies calling us. The last letter we got from the collections stated they were now charging us a 884.00 collection fee and 400.00 interest and the bill was only 3500.00. I have tried to tell these people that this service was not renewed but to no avail. I still have two other accounts that are up to date for phone book listings. It just drives me crazy that this company will not step up and fix this, I have been using phone book ads for over 30 years now, I am not trying to get something for nothing. I just refuse to pay for something I did not order, please be aware if you cancel a ad with this company write cancel across it and sign your name across it, thanks.

In the beginning month or two, it was good. We have the results, but then it just went downhill after that. We got a little more presence than last year, but not what we were hoping for. We understand that and perhaps we needed to invest more. But, it needed to be more than what we were investing. Maybe they could have communicated with me better. Their explanation for the numbers going down is that we were open 24/7. Then she explained to me that if five days a week to just business hours were actually in the office, that would make our budget wouldn't run out as quickly. When we first started in business, we needed somebody that could do a webpage for us and DexYP seemed like the ideal match. They’re very conscientious and they were calling monthly. They were getting me on click-throughs and I gave them a $750 monthly budget but they were consistently getting me $250 a month more. They weren't maintaining my budget and I couldn’t afford to keep doing that so, I went with another company to handle that. Also, they seem to change hands a lot with the different people that handle the account which I understand happens in any big business.
Another part of the problem was that I wasn’t able to give them the feedback that they needed to make the webpage into everything that it could be. I’m sure they could have done it and I can’t blame them completely for the webpage not changing and getting bigger and better. If people need to have something done, DexYP is good but they’re going to have to watch the billing procedures.

The service they are trying to provide is really just a client management (CRM) system and pair it with their own version of Mail Chimp/Constant Contact and calendar system and want to slap a sizable monthly charge to it for the convenience of using one system. I realized I could find all these systems with leading or better technology platforms for a fraction of the price. Though what got me to try their system was the social media aspect which I thought could add value for the monthly cost. But after signing up, it took a few weeks for a relationship manager to contact me to get me set up on the system and it took the company close to 2 months before a single social media post was posted. It took a few calls but they decided to provide us a month free of charge for their delay.
Not sold on the system and serving 4 months of the 3 month contract, I cancelled the service in writing and verbally with account manager. (Had 3 different account managers in a 4 month period). I noticed shortly after cancelling another renewal charge for a new month. I called to have them confirm my cancellation again, and to reverse the charge.
They said the cancellation is confirmed but came up with some excuse that it takes some time to process the cancellation. Fast forward to the next month and again another full charge. Now it seems I cannot get a hold of anyone to help process the return. So let's cut them off from the source. Call the bank and cancel the card and report fraudulent charge. Fast forward another month or so and notice for collection shows up in the mail. This is a service where if I don't pay you cut me off. Oh no. This company has very shady business practices.

However, I am still getting robocalls about my Google page and that is frustrating to me. In this day and age of cellphones and looking up things, the DexYP side of things is a little less valuable than what it used to be in the past when everybody and their grandma only use the phone book to find people. I’ve been with them for as long as they’ve been in the Fort Wayne market, which is over 10 years. They’ve bought Superpages and they’ve changed to Dex, so they’re still one and the same. The gal that came and serviced my account was not doing a very good job for me. She wasn’t returning my calls so I contacted the district manager, got a new rep, and we’ve been good.
Also, in some of my Facebook advertising, they put stuff that’s out of season. They put one on there a couple weeks ago about mosquitoes and I’m in Indiana where there are no damn mosquitoes around in December. After starting a Google Adwords Campaign with DexYP that would proceed for 1 year, the campaign was "paused" in March 2017 due to lack of inquiries or sales. Instead of providing any alternative proposal, DexYP (Dex Media) chose not to communicate with us, but still sent payment notices. In short, DexYP/Dex Media billed for services not rendered. This situation was sent to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in an attempt to receive the services required in the contract. After 3 communications through the BBB, no mention was made of providing any services, but DexYP/DexMedia continued to bill for services, which they have not provided.
The conclusion of the BBB and their review was to “determine that the company (DexYP / DexMeda) did not do all that it could have been reasonably expected or been responsible to do to resolve the issue”. It would appear that DexYP / Dex Media has a serious problem with resolving complaints of which 1,648 have been posted with the BBB alone. It would also account for DexYP / Dex Media not being accredited by the BBB and its rating of D+. After sending a letter of complaint to Mr. Joe Walsh, the CEO of DexYP / Dex Media, he simply past it on to a so-called “Executive Care-Team” and did not deem it important to communicate with the customer at all or to express his apologies for the deplorable service of his company.
My company takes pride and responsibility in providing our clients with the highest quality service we can in return for being paid for these services. It is obvious that DexYP / Dex Media has no moral or ethical responsibility to provide its customers with quality services they are being asked or demanded to pay for. This is a company that should be avoided at all cost. The moral behind this story: no services, no money.

Our company has been with DexYP for 30 years now and at one time their service has been really good, but the whole industry has changed. We're just in the phone book now and it's expensive. We were doing some online stuff but the corporate office offered something where we get better pricing on and they fund some of it, so we went that way. Also, The salespeople have been good but they messed up the billing a while ago.

We had a one year contract with Dex Media; when that contract came to an end we decided the cost was not worth the service, we emailed our rep to request cancellation. The renewal went through despite written consent. We again requested cancellation. This has been ongoing since July 2017. I have spoken to several people all of whom say they will look into it but never get back to me. Each month I receive an invoice and have most recently been sent to collections as a result. When I have searched other reviews for Dex Media I have read numerous other accounts of those having difficulty cancelling contracts. Buyer beware, unless you plan a lifelong commitment to this company, they are not easy to divorce!

After I received a letter from my representative I telephoned him within the time frame indicated to cancel my contract. He stated he would take care of it. I asked him should I send a written notice. He said it would not be necessary. Subsequently I began to receive bills for the next year. When I contacted DexYP by phone they claimed to have no record of my call and that I cancelled too late and would be billed for the next year. I am contacting the Bristol, Tenn. Anything that I ask of her, she knows what I'm talking about because I don’t have the same lingo as they do but they get what I’m saying through the keywords that I’m saying. She knows her product well. DexYP does a lot of my social media anytime I ask for a Facebook website. We are now looking into online product selling and videos.
There’s a lot of tools with this product which I’m impressed by. They’ve been very valuable to my advertising for what I do. I've only had a few hiccups here and there with them and they’ve worked those things through. The only thing I don’t like is they keep switching campaign managers. I’ve been with them for 10 years so I like the consistency of having the same campaign manager that knows more about the business, a personal rapport in a sense. I'm in the business of services. That’s relational and that makes a lot of difference. Other than that, I would recommend DexYP.

I cannot begin to EXPLAIN how frustrated this company makes me! I would give NO stars if I could. I've been going back and forth Since March 2017 and it is now October and I'm still battling to get across to them after speaking to: ** and after contacting the BBB, I also received an email from ** -- Let me tell you - UNORGANIZED doesn't even begin to describe this company.
We brought in a REAL marketing agency who brought to light the already suspected fraudulent activities of DexMedia/DexYP. I've had many phone conferences regarding our accounts with Dex and it was told that the Proxy's (for the SEM & SEO campaigns - the very pricey pay per click ads) were never active when we started hosting on Wix - HOWEVER, we hosted with Wix back in 2013, no one ever notified us or even took the initiative to call us about it, but they would still bill us and we would pay UNKNOWINGLY. With that being said - ** claims to have reached out and sent reports every month - which we have tracks of the emails and that is a lie.
It was back in 2015 that I started having my suspicions about Dex and spoke to **. ** then came and gave spoke out his ** and somehow or another we signed up for another dreadful year. With much investigation and the help of another marketing team (from people who actually have experience in marketing and GREAT customer service) it was PROVEN that our CLICKS we were paying for were never going to an actual site - I've attached an image of 2 links - I have a TON more.
Since March I've been stressing and back and forth between DexMedia/DexYP -- I even sent them a portion of their OWN Contact: "NOTICES/HOW TO CONTACT US: All notices, including termination notices to us, must be in writing and mailed by US mail or overnight courier to: DexMedia, 1615 Bluff City Hwy, Briston, TN 37620 or sent by going to www.dexmedia.com/contact-us, and completing the requested information in the "Send us a Message" section. Cancellation notices must include your business name, telephone number and address. for questions about this agreement or your advertising, please call Client Care at 844-DEXMEDIA (339-6334)."
We have done JUST That!!! I've sent in 2 cancellation letters which have been received and STILL struggling to get any HELP from anyone. We finally received a cancellation letter which doesn't state the account it actually cancels or it doesn't specify the date in which it will be canceled. DexMedia/DexYP are so unspecific and keep any details to a minimum to where you have nothing to stand on. This company can cause you to go into Cardiac-Arrest, the amount of stress and hub-la they put people through and ripping them off.

I've had a handful of customers who I've reached out to through the website, but in this type of business, people are not looking online. Most of our business will be with contractors and other large companies so they know who they're going to talk to about putting bids in for jobs way before they even get started. The only people that we're going to be getting with Dex's services are consumers and those in the residential area which is the smaller part of our business. DexYP is doing exactly what they need to do but it's not going to work for us quite as well as it would a different business.

If I don't have a contract then we are done. But apparently I had a contract and now I still have a contract without ever doing anything. What kind of bogus deal is this? I will definitely be contacting the Atty. Gen. of my state. Per a telephone conversation with Dex, they seem to be of the attitude that it is just tough luck. After every call I would get an email case closed then by email and every time another email case closed. It wasn't fixed. Only after I stopped auto pay did they actually fixed. Now all the while my digital presence is being slammed by YP. They're having negative effects on my SEO efforts that was over 6 months into my ad with them. Now my summer is over. My website goes to first page like it should have from first complaints to many reps. Nobody takes the customer service as long as you're in auto pay. I offered to pay for 6 months. They screwed it up for 8 months. All they want is your money.
Results don't matter between deceptive postcards and all the runaround with how they don't deliver on what they advertise. 7 18 17 is when they finally fixed my address. Once errors with Google went into effect website went right to first page. It's all verifiable yet they insist I pay for 6 months. They screwed up. A good company would accept their mistakes and agree with customer not YP. First put my marketing efforts down, hamper them as much as you could. I begged you to release my dashboard. You weren't getting it done. You killed my summer profits down over 50%. You would fix or release. Now we're at a standstill not paying a non performing and detrimental company to my company. This is a small company. I spend countless hours trying to get this cleared up not asking for time back that I spent that if dashboard worked would have fixed right away so I'm going to spend my time telling the truth about YP Dex Media and thrive.

Having DexYP’s services is very valuable to my company. They monitor my website and I get a lot of compliments about it. People like it and say it’s easy to get around and look at it. DexYP reached out to me many years ago. They were interested if I wanted to put a phone book ad at the time, and I was. Because I was first-time customer, they gave me a good deal. And then, I renewed the service and I had to go bigger every year. When they added services on the internet, everything started to become a package deal type of thing. Their customer service is also great. I’ve had the same contact person every year which has been awesome, unlike before where I got a different person yearly.
However, when DexYP started to do online payments, it was tricky for me. When I put in the information before, the system didn’t accept it. There’s a little green triangle up on the right-hand corner which didn’t say what it was. I told my rep about this because this kept on happening and the system kept on asking for a four-number code. My rep had the research team and they said, “We don’t know what you’re talking about.” So, I showed her and she said, “I don’t know what that’s for.” No one knew what it’s for until I pushed that green triangle accidentally and then it turned upside down and everything went through. It was all good and I didn’t need the four-digit code. It took a long time for it to be figured out. If I didn’t hit it by accident, I would’ve probably still been pulling my hair out thinking, “How am I going to make this payment?” Still, I have been recommending DexYP.

I stupidly decided to try DexYP Media's services hoping to drive more traffic to my website. When I spoke with Clint, the Business Automation Specialist, he assured me that the only subscription I would be subscribing to was a month to month contract. I made it perfectly clear that I did not want to be involved with anything that wasn't month to month. Clint said, "You could try it for a month or even 3 months and if you didn't like it, you could cancel." I thought, okay, I'll do it. He put me on the phone with a verifier and at NO time did I agree to a 1-year subscription, nor did they tell me anything about cancelling within 21 days. Well, in less than 30 days of my first month, I noticed that my bank account had been debited for the month to month fee of $59.00. So I called Dex Media to complain about them taking money from my bank account 4 days prior to my first 30 days expiring.
I complained because today (10.5.17), my 92-year-old parent's assisted living rent was due and this deduction left me short. By my calculations, Oct 9, 2017, is when my account should have been debited, provided I wanted to keep the service. To my surprise, I was told the same thing many of you here were told, that I had committed to a 1-year subscription and that I had 21 days to cancel, instead of 30 days. When I asked for my money back and said that I want to cancel my subscription, I was told, the internal credit card team would be the ones to make the decision to refund my money and cancel my supposed 1-year subscription.
If anyone wants to join in my submitting a request for the California Attorney General to investigate these practices by Dex Media, please let me know. I believe the phone verification was altered, I would NEVER have committed to a 1-year subscription. There's something not right about this company and I intend to get to the bottom of it!

Good luck if you enter into a contractual agreement with this company, you will find it extremely difficult to get out of it, worse yet the services they provide you can not even be quantified as services. They claim to be a Google partner, and offer you a very expensive platinum advertising package, but will not deliver results. When we finally realized what was happening with our Dex SEM campaign that cost us over $1500/month, we filed a complaint with them asking for termination of our contract. After a knock down drag out they finally conceded and sent us a formal cancellation letter in the mail. The cancellation notice stated our SEM contract was cancelled as of 9/16/16 and nothing more was due.
We paid the last bill which cleared on 10/13/17. We never ceased receiving invoices, even though there were no services being rendered and Dex has sent us to collections 3 times since, I received the 3rd call today. I was also visited by 2 salespeople who tried to sell me a new contract and told that Google is very expensive to advertise on. Every time I tell the debt collectors the whole story and that we will not be paying. If you have a contract with Dex, do your research and make sure they are delivering on their promises.
If you don't have a contract with Dex or another SEM company, stay away! Try doing your own SEM through Google AdWords, it is easy. You can control your budget and territory, and you will definitely receive results, something you will not receive from DexYP. I decided to take matters into my own hands because I was tired of throwing money away on SEM campaigns that were not delivering results for our small company. Money is precious and these so called advertising companies are feeding on customers who don't educate themselves.

Janet,
I apologize for this situation and any inconvenience it has caused you. I was made aware that this matter has been addressed and resolved to your satisfaction.

I purchased a business in 2014 and wanted to make sure I had a digital presence and was in the phone book. After a year my business changed and I decided to cancel my services in 2015, my domain was released to me and Dex had been contacted that I was not renewing my services. For all of 2016 I continued to receive bills from Dex and be contacted that my package had been renewed. After numerous letters, calls and emails in September 2017 I finally received an email confirming everything had been cancelled and I would receive no more invoice with a zero balance. Then in October I received ANOTHER billing statement stating that I still owe money on services that still had not been cancelled.
I have now been on hold with Dex for 30 min, been transferred from two different departments and have lost yet another hour of work sorting through why they cannot get my cancellation processed. If you want to work with a company that will literally NEVER let you go, this is the company for you!!! Even after they have confirmed that everything is cancelled and taken care of you will get to look forward to lengthy phone calls and mass confusion to eat up your time during the day!

Katherine,
We are sorry for the obstacles you have faced in cancelling your account. I have made an escalation for this situation and a client care representative will be reaching out to you shortly.

I saw this business when I was trying to start up my business. I decided after receiving a few phone calls that I would see what this business has to offer. After seeing what all they would do for me for $199.00/month I thought sure this will be good! I was under the impression that I could cancel my website whenever I need to if I had a change of plans or something. So I decide to move forward with paying the $199 and getting set up. After spending the next few weeks in contact with the website manager I got really excited because I felt like he was doing all the right things to make my business really get up and running with advertisement. Just a few weeks later I ended up getting a new job. This job was great and was perfect for gaining experience in the field where I received my degree. The only problem was I just didn't get paid a lot of money.
No problem though. I thought "that's ok I'll just cancel my website since I don't need it anymore and save myself $199/month" so I contact my account people. They respond with "you're on a 12 month contract" so I talk to the person who set me up and told her I never agreed to a 12 month contract and I simply cannot afford it due to my new job. She was understanding and said she would have her supervisor contact me. Well a day later $199 was taken out of my account. A week later I STILL had not received a phone call from her supervisor. So I email them on a Friday letting them know that it has been a week without contact. They never responded. So I emailed again today and they send me their supervisor's contact information. The supervisor says "you'll have to get in contact with this person" so I get in contact with them and tell them I'm out of business and I want a refund.
Well he said the only way I could do that was by discontinuing the phone line associated with the business. Well that's a problem because the phone line is my personal cell number. So then he goes to say I'm in the 12 month contract and that's all he can do. So I had him play the recording of my phone conversation where "I agreed to a 12 month contract". Never once did the recording prove that I agreed to this contract. So now he's saying I gotta get back in contact with the person I originally went to to get my account taken care of. This is a rip off of a company and I am EXTREMELY disappointed and frustrated with them. My next step is to just close my bank account so they can't steal my money.

Paige,
I am so sorry that this has been a hard process for you. I understand your situation and have created an escalation for it. Client care will be in contact with you as soon as possible.

Have had nothing but nightmares with this company since day one. I took over a business from my father and was contacted by Dex to continue running phone ads and online information. I explain to them that we had moved, have a different address, changed phone number, info on # of years in business and to change person of contact. They assured me this would all take place. I tried to reach my customer contact for a few months and was unable to due to the fact she was out on family leave. I finally get a call from another person stating that she got my voice messages off of the other person's phone that was out and understood they needed to make the correct changes. Still assured me again this would be taken care of.
A month later I get a letter stating what the ad was going to be and of course all the information was incorrect still. I sent back the noticed within the 10 days required and they received it. They acknowledged on time but yet still failed to correct the digital and phonebook ads. They still want to charge me for eight months of these ads being incorrect. They then told me they would get it correct by this time. We were closed for the season so the advertisement was useless. Then they called the next year wanting to renew it and I explain to them I probably wasn't going to advertise with them any longer she asked me to review some information and she would give me a discount.
She wanted me to do a verbal agreement of contract over the phone which I refused so she said she would mail me a copy for me to review if I would consider advertising with them further. I did not send in the contract and told them I no longer wanted to advertise with them. Now it has been another few months. They are still sending me bills saying I now have to pay for another year because I didn't cancel the previous contract in writing with them... As of July this year they still had the phonebook information incorrect after 1 year and a couple months. Every time you call in to try to talk to someone they hand you off to a senior account executive who then tries to belittle you and speak over you the entire time saying if you would just shut up and listen to them we would be able to get through this but their answer every time is, "Sorry you still have to pay it." Horrible customer service. Horrible company. Horrible follow through.
I will be sure to tell everyone I know to never use this company. Very disappointed for something you would think would be customer-oriented as we are the ones that pay the bill to keep you in business you would think you would want 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Not the case at all. I couldn't personally charge a customer if I didn't do the job correct the first time. I wouldn't expect them to pay anything and I sure wouldn't try to trap them into a continuous contract after they told me they didn't want to advertise with me anymore... Next step Better Business Bureau then I will be contacting the owner of this company personally through different channels...

DexYP was the phone book in the town when we started advertising in 1988. Their customer service was pleasant, kind and people have always treated us well. They were great in the beginning but they dropped back a little bit over the years since we didn’t get the phone calls from their phone book as much as we did from Yellowbook or Yelp. We want customers to look for our information up and call us so we can sell them pest control. We keep track of all of our advertising and if someone calls anytime, we ask how they found us. We’re still using whatever listing is in there and we’ll keep the smaller ads but we’ve drifted over to Hibu and Yelp. The book just got too big and people like the smaller books.

We had been using Dex Media for more than a few years now. I came on board in October trying to figure out their marketing situation. They are one of our go-to guys and we just continue using them. They also have very good customer service and we have frequent conversations and meetings with our account manager who has really been top notch. The manager has been very courteous and knowledgeable. DexYP is extremely easy to use and connect to. They are very helpful, informative, extremely professional and overall we've been having a very good experience.
We have their SEO and pay-per-click in the radius services. They have been extremely valuable. Anything marketing-related, it goes a really a long way for us here. Marketing-wise, they have more people come to your business. There are more views on your page and more people clicking on your advertisements. I'm an IT guy and not a marketing guy. I've kind of tried to wear several hats here recently. But New York City, specifically, is very difficult to advertise in and market to because there are so many people. It screws with the budget and with your radius. We've been working very closely trying to fix all of those little issues and fine-tune and tweak here and there as we go.
Over the course of the past couple of months, we've really gotten into a place where we need to be and the results are showing it. We've seen good results, especially recently while using DexYP's services. With them, what you see is what you get. There are no workarounds. It's convenient and straightforward. We're going to be allocating more of our budget towards DexYP in the near future.

Hi Brandon,

But more recently, we switched over to some of the online marketing and advertising options to keep up with the times. We've switched to Google searches and we have Facebook through them as well, which has definitely freed up some of the things that I had to do so that's nice. Although they’ve switched up the SEM person periodically, they've always let us know who the new one is, and anytime we need anything or have a question, we're always able to reach out and get a response back. All in all, we've always had a good experience with them.

However, whenever we have some of the conversations regarding how I can more effectively use what I am spending, it would be good for them to look at my point of view on the cost of advertising a little bit more.

I signed up for Dex Media packages. First was free listings and to drive traffic to my site, then Dex hub with social marketing and social media management and was promised a better e-commerce website other than the one I already had all for a price of $199.99. But the price was prorated because of previously purchase packages. Getting the site would have made the package complete. All in all the prorated price was $125.00 but $299.99 was taken from my account.
All the phone calls I received were consumers looking for other businesses. The Dex hub never worked. I was told to give it some time and then refresh but still never worked. I was told they would post to my social sites on my behalf, No post were ever made to my social media sites. The local listings somewhere never claimed and if so it had the wrong business information up. When spoke to the website developer I was then informed they don't do social sites. So now it's time to just cancel and when I did so I find out she had me locked in a 12 month agreement. I never received my money back that they took and my account is still active with them and I am still getting billed.
I have called and spoke with a number of people trying to get this resolved and it's never been resolved and Dex Media still has control of my listings. This company is a liar and a rip off. I have since seen 100's of bad reviews about them and see what they have did to me has been done to other people. There is over 48 complaints on www.rippoffreport.com for this company and also bbb.org as well as social media and Google. They refuse to cancel my account. I have taken pictures of all the listings. My next step is to hire a lawyer. Save yourself a headache and never do business with them. I wish I would have seen the reviews before agreeing to do business because I never signed anything. It was a verbal agreement over the phone. Everyone I have spoken to say they can't help me resolve this issue.

After several weeks of phone conversations with a web designer in March, I was up and running. My Salesman promised 1st page exposure and if I did not receive one Customer phone call, he would cancel my contract.

After many weeks of waiting for them to set up my account, after paying them of course, they made the excuse of some technical glitches on their end. When I finally gave up and asked for my money back, they ignored my requests and kept telling me they were working on the issue. I then made it very clear that I was no longer interested but they still have not refunded my money. As a small business, I can refund a customer's money in minutes so I'm frustrated by this delay. I'd like to get back to business and not worry about this issue any longer.
Updated on 09/05/2017: First, I just checked DexYPs Better Business Bureau's rating. Their accreditation has been REVOKED. Should have checked this before I got involved with them. This is really saying something because there are similar companies on the BBB site that have stats like 68 complaints, 11% positive reviews, 89% negative reviews and still have an A+ rating (Yext, Inc.) Here's another one: Yelp.com. With a government injunction against them for endangering children's information, which is posted on the BBB site, and with 4 positive reviews, 10 neutral reviews and 329 negative reviews (96%), not to mention over 1400 complaints, they still maintain a B+ rating. So then, how bad is DexYP if their accreditation is revoked by the same watchdog agency?
Now the update: After posting a complaint on this site, I was FINALLY contacted by DexYP and my money has been refunded after two months of fighting for it. I believe this is thanks to the Consumer Affairs website. I was getting nowhere with my contacts at DexYP. A comment was made by one contact at DexYP that makes me think the issue lies with their internal commission structure - that no one in the sales channel will give up a customer no matter what - at least until some report is out - whatever that means.
Anyway, even though my issue is now resolved, I would still recommend you stay clear of DexYP, and similar services like Yext, Yelp, etc. They all misrepresent their effectiveness in order to gain a sale. Also, they only can help with a small piece of the marketing. If you just want to manage what they claim to help with, hire a bright high school kid who needs a job. They can be trained in minutes and do the work for much less money/ Plus, you're helping your community.
My personal solution to our marketing needs was to hire a reputable marketing/advertising firm that handles everything Dex, Yext, Yelp, Hubspot and similar companies do for the same price as just ONE of these services. They can even handle website, print and mail if I need it. I can't recommend them yet, I just started with them, but I think this is a much better alternative than one of these self-promoting groups that highly inflate their own value. Finally, the best news is that when I get calls from marketing salespeople I tell them that I have hired a marketing agent who makes all the marketing suggestions. They leave me alone FAST.

Hello Patrick -
I hate to hear of obstacles encountered with your account and follow up, and greatly apologize for this experience. Your case has been escalated and you will promptly be contacted by our Client Care team.

We’ve been working with DexYP for a while and their customer service has been outstanding but we had one representative that was not as good as the others. She wasn’t effective in scheduling and didn’t have a good idea of the business. She has general-apply business principles across different areas rather than being specifically made into our business. She was bringing up data and different things which didn’t apply even if it’s an example. It was way off from how we practice medicine and it was reiterated. Told her that I skipped so many emails a day and if she wants me to take action on something, she needs to give me a call so I can make sure to find it and I’ll get back right away. The communication wasn’t there because most of the representatives are very accommodating when I get them faster answers so they can work on it. They immediately took action and switched us to another representative who was effective.
We have a website, banner ads, SEO, SEM and an email through DexYP. The SEM and SEO products are very interesting to deal with. The people we had doing SEM had been helpful. The SEO part is very challenging for our work environment and they’ve stayed on top of things. The people that worked with us have been outstanding and I’m happy with their product and service.

Hi Asher,

The new contract is going to be different than what we used before.
I've used their service briefly and their customer service has been good. They’ve been very helpful, knowledgeable and valuable in keeping the website established and re-establishing a new one. But they crashed our gallery when they upgraded our website from an older text website to a newer one. It was originally transferred and when they deleted the old one out of the system, we lost the gallery all the way around and we haven't gotten it rebuilt yet. They just linked the gallery and didn't copy it. But most of the time, DexYP has been effective and easy to work with.

I requested an account cancellation in November 2016 to switch to another source for web service. Thought everything was completed then I received a bill in March. Contacted a source to correct the error and received another bill in May. After contacting another agent, (now granted, I could never get the same contact more than once after I emailed them) I get a collections email from a third party to pay a bill in excess of $500.
I find out today that they have an advertising contract that continued to bill for 12 months when there is no website to advertise on. My favorite part is 'Unfortunately you still have to pay the balance'? Who does that? Why on Earth would I need to advertise if I don't have a website with your company and why would you not disclose this back in 2016 or any of the other times I inquired about this mystery bill? Absolutely the worst company ever and I regret the day I opened my account with this service!

I made the mistake of donating my hard earned money to DexYP around 1 month ago. After receiving several calls from a sales person harassing me while at work, I finally gave one of these parasite salesman a chance. Of course he made every lie that spilled out of his mouth sound good. I made a huge mistake listening to him, because I threw away $160 off my money, with nothing to show. That's right, absolutely zero. Dex took my money with all of their promises, and did nothing. It was admitted by several of their employees, that they "dropped the ball."
Now that I want nothing to do with this company, they refuse to give my money back and say I'm locked in for a year, even though I clearly told the sales person I didn't want a commitment when signing up. Basically what happened here is I paid for a job to be done. Dex did not do what their salesperson promised, at all. Nothing. When I caught on to it, they refuse to refund me for doing nothing. In my opinion and experience, Dex media is a company taking donations to pay their employees to do nothing. That's exactly nothing. Do not trust Dex. Keep your money, unless you want to support Dex's scamming thieving way of doing business. This company is fraudulent, and will do what they can to screw you out of your money. I've been with the company for a very long time. I first started off with Verizon and then it went to SuperMedia. And then it became Dex Media. Before then, I had all these other reps and I was paying a thousand some dollars a month and they were robbing me blind with unnecessary things. Then Tom came on and he saved me. He started the website and got me into that. Then Scott took over his territory and the whole experience with him was top of the line. But then, they changed his area and they expected us to do everything over the phone and I can't do that. I would need to work with somebody who'll explain. I was given somebody else and that's when it went downhill again.
For a while there, DexYP made mistakes. They put the wrong times and they said that we were closed seven days a week. I lost business because of it and they only reimbursed me for a couple of months when that had been like that for longer. I wasn't really happy with that and it was a horrible experience, and then I was notified that the rep quit. I specifically asked for Scott again and when they reassigned him to me, everything went really good. He's a very detailed person and he made me feel very comfortable. I felt like everything was going in the right direction and they specifically showed me how my questions and the errors were all corrected.
Scott and I connected with Taylor and Stacey and it has been awesome working with the three of them. I'm one guy doing everything and I work so much that I don't have time to be on top of everything. I would write down the questions that I need to ask so I don't forget, then I would give them the questions and they would have their answers. They helped me out a lot. Plus, I can always reach out to Stacey or Scott and they return my calls immediately. Once I had emailed Stacey to say I don't check my email all the time and to ask if she could just give me a call, and I got my call within that day. I would definitely recommend them, especially to somebody who works a lot and doesn't have time to do Facebook. One of their team members can handle all of it and that really takes a load off of you. At the same time, you know it's being done right so that's a really good feeling.

Denny,
We are so glad that we could help take the load off of you. We understand how overwhelming this can be. We will always be here to help. Thanks for your continued loyalty to DexYP.

There's a law that we have to publicize our contact information in the Vermont directory and working with DexYP has allowed us to be compliant. They provide us with white and yellow page posts and when we've had a correction or two in the past, they've been responsive and easy to deal with. The sales rep sends me my renewals whenever they're needed. We've been pretty hands-off and the experience has been seamless. I'd recommend them highly.

DexYP knocked on my door and I thought of using them since they're the main directory out there. Their customer service has been okay. They've been responsive any time I've needed assistance or something in terms of the advertising. They advertise on the internet for me and they do the hard page directory advertising on the yellow pages. But they have a hard time reaching out to the advertisers. DexYP is also the kind of company that makes the contact in the beginning then disappear. They do not have a follow-up. And the only time I see them again is at renewal time. Other than those, DexYP services have a major value and their online marketing is the main success story with them.

Djerassi,
Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to know we have been of service to your business.

Bad experience. Attempted to stop revolving contract and thought sending a letter and final check marked final payment/no longer require services to the only address on the bill was enough. Received new bill and upon calling the company (Several attempts and long periods of holding) was told that they do not respond to any mail sent to that address and we would be forced to pay the entire year. Part of the problem also is that the information published is incorrect. We would like to notify the public of the unscrupulous practices of this company. Beware!!! They will take advantage of you and no attempts to stop them will avail.

As executor of my sister's estate who used Dex Media I have tried multiple times to close her account and still have been unsuccessful. I have now been transferred to the disputes department and have been sent termination of business materials to fill out and also to provide documentation in order to close. This in itself is not a problem, I am fine with filling out forms but what they require borders on the extreme and makes it impossible to close in a timely fashion, while they simply continue to bill on a monthly basis. I must show proof that all phone lines (home, business, cell, etc) and URL's have been discontinued which has taken 5 months just for her office phone because it has taken that long to liquidate her business, but the required proof of final statement will take another month after the disconnect for the statement to arrive. And this is just her office phone.
Then the Dex forms require a notary and a sworn statement that one has not perjured themselves? Requirements for certificates of dissolution? As executor, I have managed and closed all of her accounts save Dex. It's informative that they don't even have an Estate department like every other organization I have dealt with. My only option is disputes? I personally will never use Dex media for my own advertising. I will write back with a status update on how long, if at all, it took to simply close her account because she passed away last February and Dex wants to milk her estate for all it can.

The first rep that had picked up said it was because I'm a locksmith and I can't list myself on SuperPages unless I pay which I thought was off. But it turned out that the rep just didn't communicate well. When I spoke to a supervisor, they had resolved it and got me listed. Everything was sorted from there. They gave me some kind of portion that would typically be paid because of the hardships and the difficulty of getting myself listed. That was awesome. Overall, bad reps happen but I would still recommend DexYP to a friend.

We really enjoyed working with Dex Media and the relationship and the assistance they give us. I've personally worked with them going on four years and I've worked with Eric and Melissa who did a great job revamping our website. Eric calls at least once a month and sees if I need anything. If I have a customer issue or customer service problem, one of those two have already called me or they already took care of it. Also, the designers were wonderful and they did a lot of good work for us.
With a lot of the advertisements that they've helped vamp and refresh, it's brought in some more business for us. I’m not a big tech when it comes to trying to keep up with some of the stuff on the website that’s technically under my domain to watch but they do an excellent job checking on it. Melissa calls me all the time to tell me there were a couple of things she'd done and shows me what’s going on. She’ll also send things to me to give me a heads up if something's going on, something's dropped or we've some extra impressions that have come across. It’s a great access for me in helping me keep up with my advertisement with those different things that’s come in that I may not have noticed and she stays on top of that really well. It’s really a good group of people to work with. I know the techs and a lot of the service people. I have recommended it to other customers and to some of my networking.

From the get go, Dex Media and its representatives and management has done nothing but lie to me about the products and services I would be provided. However, never once did they mention I was going to be under contract. Their Facebook post are very elementary and do not gain traction. The website they created isn't mobile friendly and mediocre at best. The marketing they promised is nothing even close to what I got.
Asked for a business phone number that they created for me and placed on all of multiple marketing and advertising information just to have them tell me that I don't own the phone number and they disconnected it. A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, & EFFORT. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY NOT recommend Dex Media to anyone, even if DexMedia offered $10,000 for the referral. Do not use this company! The pricing is great for me and I can pay monthly, and so that’s what I look for and I’d recommend it. The white pages with the highlighter, bold, is my better route as far as my name. The yellow pages is not important to me at all because I don’t feel that it's a source that people use in this area because we’re small. We know who we want to call. And I’m not looking for the ad in the yellow pages because it’s worthless to me. In my industry if you check the yellow pages all local people have one little liner ad there because the 1800 companies buy the full and half page ads. We can’t touch that and they’re not even local people. They ended up sending me orders because they don’t have a flower shop. They have big ads and make lots of money as they charge people around $20 every time they order something. It’s a bad deal. That’s why I spend as little as I can.

We are a seasonal business, so we go south for the winter months, November through March, and come back to the midwest a few days each month to pay bills, etc. We use Dex for 3 different areas; resulting in 3 different billings. In May of 2017, we received a past due letter stating we were 6 months delinquent on one of our bills (I'll call this #1 for future reference). I called and inquired and was told one of our billings were returned to them, so they thought our address had changed. (They were still sending the other two billings)
I spoke with Wayne on 5/22/17, and told him we would like to cancel all the contracts (which he said we had to pay them until the end of the contract) and so I asked him the dates for each contract that we had to cancel by. #1 before 1/29/18, #2 before 1/11/18 and #3 before 9/27/17. He also said he would make sure the #1 billing would come to our original address like it used to.
On 6/26/17 I received 2 Dex Media bills, and once again did not get #1 bill. I called (6/26/17) and spoke with Norman, who said we were past due on bill #1 again. I told him we did not receive a bill and he said it was changed to electronic. I asked him how it was sent, (email, website, etc) and he said via email. I asked him to what email address, and he said he was unable to verify the email address. (How did they send it by email if they didn't have our email on file?) I asked him what our totals were to pay these off through the end of our contracts, and cancel the service, and he said #1 was June 2018, #2 was April 2018 and #3 was Oct 2017. SO THE DATES FOR #1 and #2 had been extended in just one month's time!!!!!!
ALSO, he said billing #3 had a digital contract on it that had been okayed in December (when we were in Florida) that was from May 2017 to May 2018. I asked Norman for a voice recording showing where we had approved it (because we didn't, we weren't even in the state), and he sent me to the resolution department, and they could not find the voice recording. I told Norman to cancel ALL contracts - case # **. Also I was told our account manager Brett ** would call and it's been two days with no call. I was told the resolution dept "Nikki" would open a case # ** to investigate all of our issues.
Updated on 07/27/2017: They said they had followed up. Yes, they called, but said they'd call me back after they had checked into my problem and didn't. I called them and no response, until I called the supervisor. My problem is still "being looked into" and NOT resolved.

The customer service at Dex has been really helpful about making changes or making sure that we know what our advertising is for the yellow pages and if we need anything changed for the white pages. They also keep us updated a couple of times a year. They call us in the spring to make sure it’s ready before the phonebook comes, which is usually in October. They call and check if we’re happy with the way the bold type is, if we need to add more advertising or if we want to make more listings. After using Dex Media (and their predecessor) for over 10 years, our small company finally decided to stop taking their horrible customer service and failure to timely credit billing issues for our print and internet advertising. Our Dex Media sales representative acknowledged the significant service inconsistencies and egregious billing issues.
During December 2016 we finally terminated services. Our Dex representative provided written proof of the credit adjustments issued to our account and acknowledged our account has been paid in full (after another sales representative lost a check for $18,000). Yet, Dex Media continues to treat our account as if we are currently delinquent (again, we terminated services and paid in full with receipt). Moreover, Dex submitted the reversed adjustment amount to a collection agency. The account representative that originally settled our account will not return our calls and the collections department claims it has no record of the adjustments. We are extremely frustrated and concerned that Dex Media refuses to respond. The company engages in deceptive and unfair trading practices that continue long after you terminate services.

Hi Karen - I'm sorry to hear of this situation and any frustration surrounding the matter. We'll review your account and a Client Care Associate will be reaching out to you to discuss. Thank you, Ed!

We are a small local company and have received several phone calls from a man by the name of Billy. We do not give out my husband's personal cellphone to just anyone as he is a very busy man and does not handle the advertising (our office handles that). This Billy, called today posing as a customer from Spokane, WA saying we needed to change our Google Adwords as we don't service that area and he could help. After telling him we don't need his help three different times, my husband had to hang up on him due to a conference call appt. This "Billy" then called our office and lectures our secretary about how rude her boss is and claimed to be a customer and how it's getting around Spokane what a rude business owner he is. My secretary had to listen to him for 10 minutes apologizing profusely and explaining to him how many solicitor calls we get in a day. He then told her he wasn't a salesman just a customer.
After they hung up, I asked the secretary for his number. It was a Nevada phone #. When I called it, I could hear several solicitors in the background. He said his name was Billy and I asked him what company he was with. He said he was with Dex Media. We will never do business with Dex Media. Their tactics are low and manipulative. I would like to see this guy terminated for harassment. We would never ever condone to our employees treating potential customers this way. It's FRAUDULENT. No means no, quit tying up our phones that we use for business!

Hello Kerri - I hate to know that you're receiving unwanted calls from a Dex representative and apologize for any frustration surrounding this matter. If the caller is indeed a Dex Media employee, we will go out of our way to address this matter at length and ensure no further calls are made.

Dex Media was previously on contract with us to be handling our print media like phone books. Then, they expanded their services and they had the option for online web presence package which is what we have them contracted for. Primarily, they're handling our web presence campaign now including internet advertising, marketing and search engine optimization.
What they do is they partner us up with one individual like a campaign manager and mine is Jonathan. They run the campaign, I give them parameters and they fit it into Google terms so that what I'm looking to accomplish works with Google. Our advertising campaign works within a five-mile demographic and they know what Google's looking for in terms of things. They were able to manipulate that and see what search cues within our geographical radius already pop up. That way, we don't start advertising to people that are maybe advertising a similar service but a different product.
Working with them, there's definitely been a noticeable increase in traffic, both through the phones and through the website. It's not critical but it is nice to have. They brought us funerals. 100%. Funeral homes are very specific breed and most families know where they're going before a death occurs. But, they've definitely given us a better web presence. It's obvious that people are looking for us on the internet and that's evident by both the traffic that I see coming through their web server proxy to our emails to our website. We also have call whispers so if a call comes through one of their ads on Google, when we pick up the phone it says this is a call from Dex Media before the person is able to start speaking. I've been very happy with them.

Hi Mike - thank you so much for the great feedback! As a valued client of ours, we're so happy to read it's been a great experience. Thank you for trusting us with your business, Mike!
