Every year since I started my business back to 1997, I have to sign the contract to in order to bind our agreement, NO one ever told me about the cancel request needs to be make before a certain date or it will be renew automatically. I told David not to continue any advertisement, didn't sign any contract in 2016, this is a FORMAL request already, after I found out I was charged again. I called and talked to David and another rep, I got the cancel confirmation.
In May 22 2016, I confirmed with Eula again on the phone again, she confirmed to remove and cancel the contract and not to charge me anymore. David, every year I was very reluctant to keep the print Ad, you always tried to sell me the print again and again, eventually I gave everything up in 2016, please please speak out for me, you know everything from the very beginning, you should not try to avoid the responsibility.

Good evening, Jane -

The company refunded our business, which made us happy
Original Review: June 19, 2018
Very disappointed with the service advisor of this company, when he came and explained to us what Thryv was we were unsure if it was something we wanted to do, he told us that we should give it a trial run and if we didn't like the services we were free to cancel at anytime. Not one but two people heard this service advisor say this, as we are learning more features of programs we have to have in order to run our business we find that these programs have many features that we chose to possibly use Thryv for, when we send emails about canceling we are given the run around about who has to cancel the services.
Finally call to cancel after 2 weeks 'cause we are not getting anywhere with emails and am told that we are in a 12 month contract, never once were we told about a contract and again the service advisor told 2 people that the account could be canceled at any time. Very disappointed, with the service advisor and the company. We are a small family ran business who take pride in being honest with our customers and hoped for the same from those we do business with.

Hello Chesley -
I'm sorry to know of this matter and apologize for any confusion that may have been caused. We will be reaching out to you in an effort to address all concerns and try to resolve.

We contacted DexYP because we were doing an information launch to update our clients of our new contact information. We were very specific about what our needs and assured they could complete the task. After sending them our files, I was informed the files had been duplicated and the only way to correct it was manually. I had to correct that error at my expense in my office. The mailing didn’t happen. The Facebook account, was not as represented. I tried contacting the gentleman that I spoke to when I started this process and he is no longer with the company.
I spoke to another young man about my account and he apologized to me and very honestly told me that they were trying to work out the kinks. They were going faster than they had expected from the buyout and sometimes things happen. His honesty is why they got two stars. The rest can learn from him. My business is based in Hendersonville and I got a call that I am being charged for an ad being run 5 hours from our office that we never approved. In fact we specify we’re told we could not run ads no more than 20 miles from our office.
Things happen, when your employees tell your customers something that isn’t accurate. Use it as a teaching moment and move on. You lose more business not accepting responsibility and being accountable. You’d be surprised how far a genuine apology can go and an effort to make thing right as opposed to becoming defensive and deflecting. It doesn’t matter why it’s wrong, if it’s wrong it’s wrong and it needs to be fixed.

Hi Diana -
I'm sorry to hear of the outlined issues and apologize for any inconveniences encountered as a result. We'll promptly reach out to you regarding this matter with hopes of resolving.

The service DexYP has provided me and the people that I've dealt with had all been very good in the second half of my experience. The first half was disjointed, but they made some changes apparently and it all got very smooth. It was all professional and that's what I've been dealing with for the second half of my experience with them. The actual management of what they're doing for me is very good and they give me all the reporting I need.
The biggest issue I had is that I went into the service knowing that it might not be something that would work for my business, but I was willing to try it. And I have, so far, not realized any return from it. That's a little hard to swallow. But I would not be able to identify the specific problem other than my business might not just work this way and I might not be able to get customers this way. So, make sure your business actually fits into the whole digital marketing scheme. But if you're gonna do it, Dex is a fine company to work with.

Mark - Thank you for choosing DexYP!

Updated on 12/7/2018: To this date it has not been completely resolved. I negotiated with them to void my unpaid balance which was caused started by a sales representative that fraudulently pushed through an advertising campaign for 2016/17. Yes this has dragged out for this long. Provided is a letter from DEXYP that they would correct the issue by reversing outstanding bills that they claimed and put into collections with my account. They have also offered a refund credit that was suppose to be sent in a form of a check in amount of a $1000.00. To this date DexYP customer service care team has ignored my emails and has refused to make good on the $1000.00 refund check to me after several attempt to contact them. Provided is an email that promised me credits, refund, with an apology. Still waiting and the lies continue.
I am warning all customers with DexYP that if anything ever goes wrong you will spend hours and hours dealing with people to don't care about you. Apparently 25+ years of business, approximately $60,000.00 in business over the years means nothing. I settled on getting a $1000.00 credit rather than the full year paid in full $3660.00 for a ad campaign that was fraudulently pushed through by a representative that no longer works at DexYP. I fault myself for being ignorant and even agreeing to work with DexYP. I should have been refunded the full amount. Please keep in mind all of this was automatically withdrawn from my credit card on file with DexYP. I am hoping that a class action lawsuit will be file against them. Fraud and nothing but lies...
Original Review: Doing business with YP Marketing Solutions/DexYP is a big mistake. I have been doing business with Yellow Pages for over 25 years. Most of the time the advertising packages goes without any issues. Several times throughout the years there have been minor to major errors. I would just let them go as the issues were partially resolved. My 2016/17 advertising package was the final straw. The advertising contract was never authorized. I assume that I did not have a contract that because the sales representative never called me back; he claimed that he tried to contact me repeatedly. This could not be verified by YP. As a result of him not being able to get hold of me; I was told that this representative had a manager sign off and force the contract through without my permission.
I personally did call the representative number and left messages that I would like to speak with him before the deadline. He never did so I assumed that the advertisement for 2016/17 would not be placed. My concerns originally were the cost effectiveness of the packages they offered. I also wanted to also inquire about a change my web address and other information on my listing. Since the sales representative never call me back I assumed I would not have advertising package with YP/. In May of 2017 I discover I was being billed the unapproved YP advertising in additional to significant higher amount than previous years. I looked on the internet and print ad. I call to inquire about this billing and that I did not approve the contract.
I ask the billing department to provide me with a statement of the breakdown cost. The billing department said that there was a huge mistake so they claimed and that I was billed the standard nondiscounted rates. I asked if I could get the name of the sales representative responsible for the contract. They were unable to provide me with the Sales representative's name. I was told that he was no longer with the company. The billing agent told me that for now they can credit me all of the errors in the billing but would not be able to cancel the contract. I would have discuss this with YP sales division. Since then I have been in discussion with YP trying to resolve my dispute. I was never given the itemized list billing statement per my request.
During this time I decided that I would stop making payments until I get someone to discuss my contract. My account by the way was put into collections with some company. As of recent I was put in contact with a representative by the name of Todd. At the beginning Todd made it sound like they were really concerned about my account. I became concerned as Todd kept delaying his promise to call me back. I kindly accepted his reason for delays in responding to my dispute. This dragged out for about a week and half. Todd tried to make it sound like they gave me huge credits and adjustments to my account already. I told Todd that the adjustment were only the error in my contract; even the billing department sent me a letter of apology for the error in the billing. I stated that the error in billing should not be part of the contract dispute. These credits and adjustment are mistakes admitted by the billing department and YP Advertising.
I then requested for an itemized document of the billing period and the contract and what was credited to my account. Keep in mind these numbers were discussed over the phone. Todd kept insisting that we offer me a huge amount of credits to my account. I kindly ask for a printed document of the credits and adjustment because it was difficult for me to understand what I was being credited for. The conversation immediately became confrontational and defensive. I was told that I am going in circles and I have no idea of what I was talking about and/or doing. He kept telling me I did not listened to a single thing he said and that he has spend 30 minutes of his time trying to explain to me.
The representative told me that he is done with this conversation and that he would send me an email within the next day or two and would like a decision from me. There was never any discussion on what I needed to make a decision on. It has been several days now and no email as promised. He wanted me to text him my email so that he could send me an email. I simply asked, "Will you email me the breakdown of all the cost and credits." Again he insisted that I am not listening and that a email will be sent discussing the conversation and facts. I was then again told that he was done with anymore conversation.
If this is how YP Advertising/DexYP treats its customers; I highly caution to do business with a company that has this attitude. Rambling off numbers and circumventing the original premises of the dispute seem to be problematic with YP. Base on most of the reviews on Consumer Affairs; It is apparent that there is a major problem with how they do business and treat their long term customers. Their contract agreement is designed lock you into a contract even though I never agreed or signed off on the Ad contract. There is a clear breach of contract by the sales executive. There is no proof that he called repeatedly. I even ask for a copy receipt of the certified letter of contract. To this day none of this has been provided.

Our company is in the process of downsizing. And during this process increasing my cost of advertising is stupid. The salesman kept telling me what is best for my business by increasing my advertising cost. According to DexYP only got 50 something clicks last year. We are booked up a week in advance for the most part. So apparently my business doesn’t thrive by DexYP. I told the salesman to work this out with the secretary gave her name. And he never once asked for her when he called. People that were in my office when he called laughed at me repeating the same thing over and over. I have been in business for several years and have never dealt with a salesman like that. Not that I wouldn’t advertise but I have no intent on spending more. Then he talks about phone books. I haven’t received one in years. But only AT&T customers will receive a book.

DexYP did a presentation to us. They offered some rates that were special to us and that's why we went with them. They've been doing Google AdWords, display ads, phone monitoring, pretargeting for us. Things were really good for our first year. But then, we're about six months in our second year now and it's gone down and I've noticed that since they combined with Yellow Pages.
Our customer service used to be a lot better than it is now. They have updated their system and right now, there's no online portal so that we can go in whenever we want to and check our display ad performance and Google ad performance. So that's been a little bit disappointing. They also did away with their online portal for paying in their invoice system and so, that has caused a lot of confusion on our end that has yet to get worked out. Also, our old representative got promoted and we now have different people over our account and I just haven't been as satisfied with them as I was with who used to be it.
There's also been a really big confusion on our invoice. They took an invoice for $17,000 which is about $12,000 more than it normally is. When we got the bill, I notified the main account manager Dana. She checked our account and said that we only owed $8,000. And so, I asked if I could get that sent to me and maybe explain what the difference was and why it was higher. And they said that they would get something to me within a few days and I haven't gotten anything yet and this was about two weeks ago now. And then also, I had asked for my account statement once I had gotten that invoice and it took them about a week to get me a correct account statement.

DexYP reached out to us. We were looking for somebody to assist us with our social media, that’s our emphasis currently in terms of advertising. The idea was for them to facilitate that. We're a very small company. We're very lean and we have few employees. And essentially what DexYP does is they keep us upfront and very visible. For instance, if you were to do a Google search, gas fireplaces on Long Island, their job is to make sure that we come up on the very first page with a prominent presence and they seemed to have accomplished that. I police it from time to time and sometimes the exposure isn't what I'd like it to be and then I get on the phone to my account manager and I say “Listen, I've been entering these generic searches and we're not coming up. My competitors are, but we're not. Let's get this fixed.” And they do.
However, three years that we've been affiliated with them, they seemed to have a rather robust turnover to put it mildly. It seems like every time I reached out to them for one reason or another, there was the previous account manager was no longer there, that it was replaced by a new account manager, and I wasn’t too crazy about that. But currently, the account manager that we have now, he’s been very helpful. He does what I ask him to do. I'm old and when it comes to computers I'm an old dog that’s really hard with new tricks. So, I appreciate their expertise on various levels.

If all this isn't bad enough the actual product is completely useless. If we entered estimate or lead information it was crossed with others or completely lost. We had clients calling and wondering where we were because the program deleted appointments. We had clients responding to us by email or text about estimates we never received. This lost us business. We had estimates merge with others so that when a client was ready to accept our estimate they were accepting completely wrong details and information. The program is very messy and non functional. We were in need of a website to be redone and we were dealing with them DexYP on some level and we just expanded working with them. They originally were doing phonebooks a long time ago, and now they've gone into the internet. We limited the paper phonebook 'cause no one cares about it anymore, and they presented a package to us that was reasonable and we went with it.
It's great that I don't have to take care of our website every day anymore. They post things on social media and they prep them so that I can see them a month ahead of time. So if I think what they're posting is stupid, I can just delete it and not see it. It's been a net to the good for us. They're responsive if I have to get ahold of them. The girl that was our account manager who would often reach out to me left, and now I have someone that reaches out to me very less frequently. But that's just circumstantial.
There's a whole bunch of companies out there that are, for all intents and purposes, the same, and what they do for you on their online presence. I like DexYP, but shop around and talk to them and take my advice. I'd say yes to them, but what they do is not unique. They hit us at the right time with the right price and they do a good job for what they do.

We've been using DexYP for our yellow pages ad and upgraded over the years. However, our customer service experience with them has been terrible. I can't ever get a hold of anybody. I have questions and I call and I'm called back and told they don't work there. Someone tells me they'll be in touch and it just doesn't happen. I called a guy who was supposed to be our new account manager and I had to call somebody to figure out his name and get his phone number. He said he'd call me back after he got out of a meeting in an hour and now I've been waiting for about 8 days. Also, every time I try and call an account manager or whatever they call the person who's in charge of our account, it's somebody different. It started out as some Jonathan guy that I talked to one time. And then when I tried to call him, and it was some other lady. And then I never heard that lady. It was a complete mess.
Currently, we're using DexYP for Thryv. They do our website and I told them to transfer it. I sent them all the information they needed to do that. Still, they've been sending us emails about possible problems with our website, with the domain, because it didn't transfer to them when we first started. For some reason, they pointed it instead of transferred and now there's a problem. We hired them to deal with this stuff and they're bugging us about doing their job.
Still, we get pretty good feedback from our customers. They say that they saw our website and it's great. We also seem to be getting high search result from our customers who Google cabinets in our area. While we like DexYP's product, their customer service is an issue and they need to work on it. We're satisfied with the website but we can't get help when we need it. We're cabinet makers, not marketers. We paid money because we don't know how to do this crap.

Whenever I called, customer service at DexYP has been pretty good. I have my own account manager whom I deal with and he has been excellent. He calls back every month. We had some main keywords which we were using and Antonio really did his job to research words which would work better with our demographic and our area. He found what words were being looked up more often. However, I haven't gotten a follow up on Facebook and on the video. That's supposed to be from the technical team but I ended up not getting a call from them at all.
I wish they would give me a breakdown of what they're doing on our Facebook along with the month-end report that they give me stating how many people have looked up our keywords and how many people have been to the website. It would be nice to find out what's going on with our Facebook and what they're planning on posting in the future. Nevertheless, I think it's an excellent program to sign up for especially if the person or company signing up is really busy. It covers a lot of bases, especially for smaller or privately-owned businesses.

I had been with Dex for quite a long while and I looked at expanding my advertising into internet a little bit more than paper. They have very good customer service. They follow up all the time. They always call for all the dates that are set for follow ups, and they are very cordial. Dex has been handling my phone fine, and we're building up so that we can increase the amount of calls that we get. We're just continuing to work and tweak our advertising.

DexYP reached out to us about our website. The reps we spoke with were fine. They're always helpful and always there to answer questions we have. DexYP has streamlined the process on our website for us and made it a little more user-friendly. Any time I have any issues, I just give them a call and they're always willing to give us suggestions on any layouts that we need differently. Our rep, Dominic, checks in quarterly to make sure everything's going well and to see if we wanna change or add anything or do anything differently. Also, they helped us coordinate our Facebook page with our website. I suggest others to look at DexYP for a small business.

THIS IS A COMPLAINT I LEFT WITH THE BBB. I honestly would not know where to even begin. All I can say is read the reviews and do the math. I have had every and all of the problems and then some from all of the people's complaints. I too have spent thousands of dollars ($20,000.00-$25,000.00) per year and have been threatened to be sued for their incompetence on so many different levels. DON'T BE AN IDIOT! READ THE REVIEWS AND DO NOT HIRE THIS ADVERTISING COMPANY.
THIS WAS THE ANSWER THAT DEXYP GAVE TO BBB: "Thank you for the opportunity to address our client's concern. We have spoken with ** and have resolved the issues to his satisfaction." Here is what I responded back to them, "To whom it may concern, This is not true. Nothing has been resolved yet. When this company does what they told me that they would for my compensation then I will write/leave a comment and let everyone know it has been resolved. Thanks, **"
HERE IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE. After I complained to BBB about this someone got on the ball and the phones started ringing off the hook. Then a representative for the company wanted to show me that all the problems were fixed and that I should try them one more time. DUMMY ME I tried one last time only this time I told them that there was so much that had gone wrong in the past I will only do a 3 month contract with them. They agreed to do that. HERE WE GO AGAIN.
After signing the new contract the phones went dead again. I call my rep and he told me some story on how the site wasn't ready yet. So I waited another week like he told me to and still nothing. 2 months later still excuse after excuse and finally they figured out that their call tracking number (CTN) was the wrong number and that's why the phones went dead. They said to give them 3 more days to fix the problems with the site and I gave them that time. After that allowed time I was told they needed more time so I gave them 2 more days. I received a phone call from all 3 of the people working on the problem my Rep, his boss and the lady who does the actual work behind the scenes.
They said that they didn't want to deal with this problem and could not do anything for me. I am now going with another company and have already had positive results with the new company. However I still need DEXYP to take me completely out of their system. They told me they would have it out by Tuesday 5/22/18 and guess what WE STILL ARE NOT OUT. People please be wise and listen to all of the complaints that this company has against them. I can't count the amount of complaint websites that are out there about DEXYP. I also do not understand why the government does not shut this business/people down due to complete fraudulent actions.

We go back when it was Yellow Pages, then they became SuperMedia and they were doing online sites, and then they went to Dex Media and now, we were going to Thryv. We’ve been with them since 2009, from taking forever to get organically seen to finally getting to page 2 after almost 10 years, so it was slowly but surely. But every single time, there’s a downtime during that transition and it always seems to happen around March-April timeframe. I'm not very pleased with the Thryv. DexYP rolled out the Thryv at the beginning of May and my business basically stopped because I had not been getting any of the leads from my website anymore with the enhancements that were made to make the experience better.
I live in Virginia and our business does tree work. We depend on storm works as our cake income, so to miss one phone call could be a $50 to $2,000 job. So when the phone stopped ringing and no leads were coming to the email, I knew something’s wrong. I called Samantha, our campaign manager, and she told me everything was good, and then told me how great are organic listings are and that we might need to do these paid leads whenever there would be a sudden event. Then I said, "Yeah. We can talk about that. That's cool."
The next week came by and I started getting my persistent previous customers trying to get through on the system. When you land on our site, there was this horrible pop-up box and it would take you away from our site into Thryv to schedule an appointment. I didn’t ask for that and I hated it. The pop-up box force everyone to schedule an appointment to meet. But people weren’t asking us for tree work. If they wanted to meet, they would call and tell me that. These are inhibitors and barriers to keep my information to get through. Then, I tried and sent one and I went through the pop-up screen and picked the date. When I got a reply, it took me to the Thryv website and then it said that I needed to reset my password and I had to click a link and they would email a link to do it, but I got no email link. I have done it again and there has been no email link to reset my password, and I’m still waiting for it as of right now. So, I gave up on that.
I asked them about it and a nice lady told me upfront that the notification part of the emails was currently being worked on and it would be rolling out in the next five to seven days. When I called Samantha the second time, she said they had enhancements rolled out and Thryv 3.0 came out and asked if nothing was affected. But I told her that I was affected and asked her to get rid of it immediately. Not only can my people not get through because of this pop-up screen, and then once they are actually, successfully able to do that, it still doesn't come to me. It's still sitting there in notification land, waiting for it to roll out in five to seven days.
I pay $2,199 a month and this is what I'm paying to get? We don't have the money to wait for these unexpected, unforeseen non-income periods because of website enhancements that no one has told us it was coming, or have not done anything to enhance anything, but have made it worse and now I get no phone calls. Back in December, our AutoPay got all screwed up but I had it straightened out. And then, I got billed twice and got charged 5,300 bucks in April. But it was inadvertent and I got apologies in the end. And I only owed 500 bucks because of the mistakes in the accounting department, which I was okay with. But only to find out that three days later, they had rolled out enhancements that didn't do anything for me. So now, I just paid 5,300 for absolutely nothing.
They’re calling for storms again and here I sit waiting for whoever to feel like rolling out some primary way I receive my information to get my income. But on a general day prior to May of 2018, things were splendid. Samantha is a trooper. She stopped what she was doing the other day to help me at least get rid of some of that stuff. Unfortunately, she only could do so much and then her hands were tied and she could not do anything after that. And then to turn around and tell me that I need to buy leads and pay for clicks during an event is not the response I should be getting. Had I gotten what I paid for, to begin with, we wouldn't be needing those.
Samantha is great. But the turnover was incredible so every time I turned around, I would get a new campaign manager, then I got to sit down and call that campaign manager and the whole story again to get them up to speed. Also, Jay, the sales rep I had for a long time, was nice. There were a couple of reps before him, but Jay was fantastic. He was very receptive and on point, and he followed up. He called me back when I left three hysterical messages on his voicemail because at the height of when I really needed them, I was told it was just broken and we would get it in five to seven days.
DexYP hosts our website and we do the SEO campaign and all of our advertising with them. We are relying on them for everything, but there is not enough communication. But overall, they've done a great job. Their service is valuable and it works when the website works. So I’m frustrated on the part that they have rolled out something that isn’t complete. And in all fairness, this is the first time that it has been noticeable and the timing sucks because no one planned on a week of storms at the beginning of May either.

DexYP wanted to change the hosting, so we needed to make some changes to the name servers on the server on the webhosting. I called them about that and the I got the voicemail. Three days went by but they didn't call me back. And then I called my rep guy who was very attentive and he got a hold of the people. But unfortunately, their timing was crappy and I wasn’t able to do it when they called me back. We've been trying to get this done for two weeks now.
I signed up with DexYP because we would have a better value using them than the other companies. We recently added another social media function to our account. We're gonna have some pop-up ads. They're controlling our website right now. And it seemed to be keeping the phone ringing. We switched from a standard website to a website that people can look up on the phone. Nobody follows through even when I beg them to fix my sites while my new restaurants are struggling for growth.
One thing most won't find entertaining and I am personally tired of seeing it before you can put your email in the box you have to delete KKK. So if you accidentally don’t put in email your business listing will have KKK for your email. Someone's humor equals potentially damaging results in your business listing. I don’t get the KKK humor. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I own and manage a surf school and thought this would be great for us. Unfortunately that was not the case. I was very interested in their full package of website, video and marketing. I was told they could replace my current membership management system with most if not all the same features. As I was setting my account up I quickly realized that I would have to manually input each and every class I offer for every single day of the year. Highly inefficient. Upon realizing this I asked for a full refund and to cancel my contract. That process took more than two weeks and I still have not seen my refund.
I was told on two different occasions that the contract was cancelled and that I should see my refund in 2-3 business days. Each time, nothing happened and I had to follow up with the sales agent to see what was happening. I had no real issues with the sales agent, at the time, which I expressed to her directly but the second time I contacted her, she got very defensive via text, telling me that she had done everything she could and eventually stopped responding altogether. Other reviewers mentioned Thryv discontinuing communications as well.
I finally called their main business line and then was informed that I was not given a refund after all but a credit instead and that a check would be issued in 2-3 weeks. That is when I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor. They transferred me to customer care for dissatisfied customers. I could not get a clear answer of when my money would be returned to me. I asked the manager(?) if I could be notified of when I would be receiving my refund and he told me that the billings does not reach out to customers, so I asked if they could communicate with him, which he responded yes. With that, I asked him to follow up with me to notify me of when the money would be returned so I could personally better manage my expectations and know when to call back if they did not follow through, as was my experience over the last two weeks.
Well, it is no surprise the money still has not been returned and the manager still has not reached out to me. This has been a total headache and I am so glad I did not refer my friends business to them. Originally I told my friend how great this was going to be and it has been everything but. There are plenty of other companies out there... Go with someone else. Do not use DexYP, Thryv or whatever they call themselves unless you like feeling frustrated.

We were assigned someone at DexYP to contact as we were learning the system. It seemed to be that we were assigned a different person each week, but we only found that out when we called to talk to someone and they were no longer there. They told us that we would be able to make changes to the website ourselves, but there is no training, help menus or instructions. The videos we paid for were amateurish and not very useful. Just recently, they updated software and for a week I have not been able to do anything on the website or send e-mails to clients. They cannot tell me when they will resume those services. This isn't the first issue I've had with this organization, I'm trying to work with their team to rectify this but I really can't wait for weeks to have this issue fixed. It is my opinion that the platform shouldn't have been released in this state as I think I'm just starting to uncover the issues that are occurring, I don't have the time, patience, or desire to be a test subject for a beta release. I frustrated, annoyed customer.
Current Issues: Sales initially oversold capabilities, they are working to rectify this but still an issue. Customer Portal not ready, can't access the website, and new features are showing up like scheduling, file upload, auto pay, document upload, however these are not set up, nor did anyone say anything about the new platform specifics and what will and will not be available. All my contacts are in training, I'm assuming this is new platform training, which shouldn't be conducted during launch. Overall uncoordinated launch. Unfortunately, our company has attempted to cancel an advertising contract with DexYP and have fought them since February 2017. We spoke to a representative on the phone and followed exactly what they said to do. We were told that it was automatically renewing and the names of people who set it up. The names were not of any employees that have worked here in the past or now; which YP was informed of that fact. We were told by multiple YP associates all in different conversations that it was taken care of and our account will be zeroed out; that we shouldn't receive any more bills.
We are now getting threatening phone calls from a second collection company that we have forwarded a detailed communication log to that outlines dates, YP representative names, case numbers given and the information discussed but with no progress being made as they just keep threatening litigation. We have asked on multiple occasions for a copy of the contract with no success. We are very disappointed with this company and the way this situation has been handled.

However, the value of the service has been getting lesser every year. People don't go to the white pages or yellow pages anymore, so it's probably something that eventually will fade with time unless they do upgrades, I imagine. DexYP has a pleasant customer service though and the rep seemed to know what she was doing. She explained they could get my website to be more visible on Social Media, help me get new patients in the door (I am a Marriage and Family Therapist). I told her I did not have a big budget, since I am an independent practitioner. She said they had a very affordable plan that could do wonders for my business. She asked for my credit card and said I would be billed monthly, and she would be checking on me from time to time.
In February of 2017, I had not seen any increase in calls, and no one that didn't want to use insurance. (Insurance only pays a fixed small amount for each visit. Far below that which is reasonable and customary.) She said she understood and would talk to her manager about it. I had no idea I was on any kind of binding contract, I had never seen anything on paper about terms, etc.
A couple months later the charge reappear on my credit card. I called the agent again. She did not call back. (She left the company.) I called her manager, who was too busy to call me back. I asked my credit card company to please block the charges. A few months after that I started getting bills in the mail at my office for the Ongoing Charges. I talked to Customer Service, they were very nice, but didn't care about my story and there was nothing I could do but pay the charges. I am still getting bills, but from collection agencies, and they are adding interest every month. I feel like I am in some type of Hell! Help!! PS agent asked me to initial HER PHONE for my Credit Card charge, never mentioned an ongoing, not cancellable, contract!

After receiveing my complaints, DEX YP called to resolve the issue by cancelling the contracts as well as waiving all the fees.
Original Review: April 23, 2018
I took over a business, and almost a year AFTER the business was sold to me the previous owner's WIDOW received a bill from DEXYP stating she owed 2 payments and one was past due. The previous owner had agreed to publish ONE ad with DexYP but then passed away. No one was aware of the ad. DEXYP renewed an ad, without verifying if the information was correct, and began sending bills to a deceased person at a wrong address. They refuse to cancel the contract, and not bill for the ad that should have never been. Whole thing is a mess and their 20 departments can't communicate to each other on what the heck is going on to get it all straight. Needless to say, since the WIDOW has enough to handle, I am now paying for an ad that has nothing correctly listed except for a phone number. Because, the only way to cancel an ad, even though it is completely wrong, is if the phone number is changed. What a crock. HORRIBLE!!!

We have yet to hear a solution from Dex Media. On 11/6/17 all we received was a letter stating that they checked their records and find everything is order and that they would be closing our file. Which is completely fine but we have yet to receive any refunds and we keep receiving bills. The following are letters that we sent to them and the response we got was the above letter from 11/16/17. We have also kept asking customers who call in if they have the phone book from Dex Media and still not one customer has said yes in the North Port area.
1st letter send to Dex Media: April 14, 2017. Re: Distribution of Phone Book - This letter is to inform you that you are in breach of our agreement and are no longer to charge our credit card. We will not be paying for a service that is not being provided as described by Wanda **. We will expect a credit back for the first 2 months of the year. This is due to misleading distribution. Distribution was cut down and eliminated in multiple areas that were all previously covered. We called your Atlanta office and they admitted that they had not distributed to all areas. We have spoken to multiple customers throughout the North Port Area and not one of them has received the phone book. These customers are all in our main area of business, and we were told they would receive the phone book by Wanda **.
I have a list of multiple address that I can send to you where the phone book was not distributed. When we spoke with Wanda about this issue she told my secretary that I needed to calm down, that it has only been 2 months and that she could take the address and distribute to them. We have spoke with people from all the different areas of North Port and they have all stated that they did not receive the phone book. So this is not just a couple of houses but all of North Port. As per the contract Dex Media is to distribute to North Port and Venice area and that was not done. We at the office also did not receive a copy of the phone book. When we looked at the phone book online we also noticed that our phone number was incorrect, the phone number should be **-**-8299 not 8229. These are issues that affect our business directly, since you did not provide the services we had contracted for. Thank you.
Second letter sent to Dex Media via certified mail to office in Texas and Tennessee: October 24, 2017 Re: Breach of Contract - To Whom it may concern,As we have stated in our previous letter, we do not intend to pay for any goods and services that we did not receive and we furthermore would like the money that has been paid out to your company for the first couple of months before we noticed your breach of contract. We at no point, were told about any distribution changes and when we called, we were told that they distributed to the area of Venice and no mention of North Port. When we spoke with the sales rep Wanda ** she told me to tell the owner “to calm down” as she laughed stating that f we gave her the addresses to the house not distributed too in North Port she would go ahead and take care of it. That would be all of North Port.
This is part of an email that was sent to us in regards to the distribution issues: Distribution is targeted to those consumers who use the directory the most, based on market research. Consumers also have the option to use our online directory, Dexpages.com. Those who choose the online version of the printed directory are viewing the advertising you and your colleagues have placed in the printed book.
When Dex the distributor of the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda and Super Media the distributor of Venice/North Port book merged I specifically asked about Distribution changes when they merged. I spoke with Wanda ** and was assured distribution would not change in the North Port area by dropping the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda phone book. So we went ahead and did that. We have been very specific about location and distribution and were assured they would not change.
We were also told that the phone books were not distributed in the North Port area because they did not want phone books to be laying in peoples front door.On 10/20/17 we received a call from Wanda ** stating that she had no idea that we were upset about being lied too. Yes lied too would be correct. We paid for a goods and services that were not delivered. When we first spoke to Wanda about the issue of distribution and also finding out that distribution has been late by 2 months, she said that it had only been 2 months and that is when the statement of telling the owner “to calm down” came in. 2 months which account to about $4000.00 that we paid expecting goods and services, that were not delivered. We have asked North Port residents about the phone books that were delivered to their homes and not one has mentioned your phone book.
Your company has negatively affected our business due to the lack of advertising. Due to the lack of advertising this has resulted in a lack of income that we had budgeted for. We have email multiple times to get explanations and all we get are vague answers. Goods and services were not delivered that is called stealing and we would like a refund of what we paid. We have requested answers in writing, explaining distribution changes and reason why we were not made aware of changes and have receive nothing. Furthermore we here at the office have also never received a copy of the phone book and were told to go to the web site to find our ad. We also told your company of the phone number being incorrect and no one has brought that up to us. Thank you.

I signed up for DexYP services and wasn't given proper disclosure as to the exact services that would be provided. My experience with Dexyp was a very disappointing one, to say the least. The organization has horrible customer service and refuse to address any of the issues that I brought up as a client. The website that I was given was supposed to be dynamic with a personalized search engine, which never worked. I was supposed to get $50 a month of boosted facebook ads which I never received. I was supposed to have a videographer come out to shoot a video for the website, never happened. My rep. Jeff ** misrepresented the company and himself completely. Dexyp also tried to say there was no way out of the contract. No, buy out, no other option but to stay on a contract I'm not happy with. I recommend that anyone considering doing business with them, to not do business with them.

We’ve always been with DexYP for our advertising. Their service has been valuable to our company. They do the advertising for our yellow page ads and that’s important. However, it had a lot more impact years ago than it does today because a lot of people do the internet. It’s the computer age, but we still do have people that look in a phone book. I’d tell others that we never had any bad experience with them and it was something that would be worth looking into.

My company needed to show up in the yellow pages book, so we reached out to DexYP. One time, we were going to cancel our agreement with them but their guy convinced me not to because he was a great salesman. Furthermore, my experiences with their customer service have been really good. I've never had to call them for anything except one time when we had lost an employee when she retired and we had another one who passed away. That time, we were trying to make budget cuts and reformat our business. My boss and I were wondering what our agreement with DexYP was for so we were going to cancel it.
But, DexYP's salesman helped me understand what their company does and did a new graphic design for our ads in our yellow pages while bringing our cost down a little bit. Now, I find DexYP's services rather valuable. A lot of our customers still use the yellow pages as we have an older demographic of clients who don't go straight to the computer. So, working with DexYP has been successful for us. The company is making sure that the job is being done.

I have called at least 10 times and have spoken to 4 different people who keep telling me that they are going to "reach out" to the sales department and have someone call me back (immediately, before the end of the day, we have a trouble ticket, etc.). I finally called the corporate office this morning and left a voicemail with the Customer Care Manager. You guessed it - I am still waiting for a return call. To add insult to injury they auto bill my account. I getting -0- results from the advertising and -0- customer service.

Then their billing department is screwed up and doubles bills months screwing up your banking. They refunded 1 charge. However when I asked to cancel this contract because I wasn't receiving what was promised I got a huge run around from first Customer Service for DEXYP who bills you and drafts the money. Then the original guy who called me my so called "Business Advisor" says he can't cancel my contract early only his supervisor can who is out to lunch.
He comes back conference calls me says he wants to fix with customer service lets 3 way call and get on the same page. The 3 ways Customer Service and by coincidence gets disconnected so I explain once again to the man on the line the story. He says they are lying. I'm not computer savvy, and they are very patient with me to help me through getting the webpage up, and I'm very happy with that. I had to speak to someone last week about my website and not getting emails forwarded to my regular email, and they fixed the problem. The only time we didn't have great service was when we had somebody that took care of our account make appointments to come see us for advertising and they didn't show up or call. And we took care of that ourselves by speaking to their boss and telling him how unprofessional we thought it was. But we're happy with our ad and it's working for us. We ask people, "How did you hear about us?" It's either through the phonebook or our webpage. I would recommend DexYP 'cause they seem to be working hard for us.

The policy is if you discontinue with this company you will lose your website and all the time and energy you put into giving them the information for the site. All the language and time spent up loading video and content to help build the site gone! They will not let you know this either. I was not given a warning that if you don't continue with the company your site will be taken down and never able to retrieve it. I was told that I can start another contract with them and they will rebuild that site. What kind of fool would I be to do that again?! This is their solution?
The reason why I did not renew my contract was because this company fell short on their promises as far as marketing. They didn't put up content until I kept after them. They were supposed to 'boost' posts which they did maybe a few times. It was supposed to be done monthly, The text app they promised never worked. I can't tell you how many campaign managers I had and they were supposed to give me updates and assist in my social media development. So 5000$ and one year later I have nothing to show for it. Even now after I called and complained they fell short of even calling me back as I was promised. Zero stars for this company. Look elsewhere to do business. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS ORGANIZATION.

The last time I renewed with the YP book I was very close to giving up, as I feel the book is used less and less each year and is expensive compared to the alternatives. A DexYP case manager came over to discuss account. She was very rude and could not explain "ALL the errors in their advertising". Company does not pull up no matter where I search! Plus he was listed as a basement remodeler, and is actually a basement waterproofer. Discussed this with case manager to no avail. I asked for phone number of her supervisor and she gave a toll free number. When I called that number from the business line, it said, "Sorry do not recognize this business!" Yet the business number is listed on the statement. The case manager said and I quote "You can call that number but chances are they will send you back to me".
I tried logging in as the business owner and asked to have a link sent to reset the password. It would not let me because it said it doesn't recognize the business??? I told her we want to cancel immediately and she said,"You can't. You are under contract." I asked her to fax a copy of the contract as soon as possible. It has been well over two weeks and still haven't received it. It is costing $502.00 a month for nothing. Requesting a complete refund and canceled contract. Also they had my business as taking all kinds of credit cards and PayPal. Which in all my years have never taken credit of any type!
Updated on 05/01/2018: This is the second complaint I am turning in on this company. Consumer affairs says it is waiting for my response. Well I have submitted it twice now to no avail! They have falsely represented my company from the beginning. Had me listed as a basement remodeler, which my company has never done, also that we accept all credit cards, which we never have! She said it could be corrected, however when I asked her how that false information got there, she could not explain. Meanwhile I have paid $500.00 a month for nothing! $160.00 of it was listed as Racine internet, another thing she could not explain. So for all the money spent falsely, I want a cancellation! A representative came here over two months ago, also didn't help at all! ENOUGH!

There was a local representative that I worked with and she said that I have a website and a web presence and then I have a listing in the phone book. She was supposed to hit all those other medias for me and I signed the contract to stay with Dex Media. The lady that I met with for two years now, at least is a good. She's a sharp little gal and she told me I was getting my money’s worth. Other than the name change I’ve been satisfied. I’m getting what I’m supposed to be getting on that contract.

Good afternoon,
I'm sorry if there was some confusion surrounding our acquisition of YP and the name change to, DexYP. That definitely was not our intention. Thank you so much for choosing to be a valued client. If you need any assistance at all, please let us know as we're eager to help you.

I have been advertising in the Coeur d' Alene, ID Frontier phone book through Dex YP for several years. A sales rep has always contacted me to check that we were happy with our advertising and give me the opportunity to receive a discount by paying for a full year in advance. This year, I did not get a call nor any communication that my ad would auto renew. The contract that everyone signs says that it can do that but that is not how communication has happened with my account. I do not want to renew as so few people have home phones that this particular phone book is becoming obsolete. Very few people use it. I have contacted Dex with no satisfaction. Totally no help. All they want is our money with nothing to show for it for us. We have had almost no response to our ad in their book. We advertise in another book and get very good results. I am very unhappy with Dex and would not recommend them to anyone.

Thank you Ed, for escalating this matter and the YP Rep that you sent to us was wonderful. YP responded very quickly to our review and we were able to resolve the issue together in a very short time. The YP rep was very professional, kind and listened to us. We went from feeling stuck to "let's work together", and get this done. Thank you R for all your help. We are very pleased with the outcome and appreciate having this forum to ask for help. Thank you Consumer Affairs.

We started our new company in June 2017 and the owner began seeking the best marketing strategies for our business. The owner spoke multiple times to a YP Marketing Solutions Salesperson and was very impressed with what was proposed for rapid growth for our company. We couldn't start right away, but we had a budget and called the salesperson as soon as we felt we could handle the monthly costs of $640. We were very excited to embark on this new endeavor and set up automatic payments and was told that someone would contact us in 3 days to discuss our listing, web page and starting the marketing process.
We did not hear from our salesperson or any other contact at YP for over 3 weeks. We called and our phone calls were not returned. On August 9th, we received an email saying "Congratulations, your advertising solutions program is now live and it came complete with a contract." We were happy to see that it had actually been worked on, but we were told that nothing would go "live" until we approved the information. After reviewing the listing and web page, we found that there were multiple mistakes and issues.
They had advertised our competitor's name and contact information, not ours, the hours and several other things were incorrect. The next day, we received another email from another contact at YP about our Landing page and we were to review it and let them know if we approved. This page had the wrong company name (different from the go live listing), the wrong information as well and the links went to a company in another state with their contact information. It looked like they had cut and pasted the information from another account onto our page. We wrote an email expressing our displeasure with these results and our sales rep contacted us and assured us it hadn't gone live and gave reasons why we should not be upset with these turn of events.
We had friends and family do searches and look for our listing (not using link provided by YP) and they found all of the same incorrect information online, as well. We called and discussed with our rep who told us that we were wrong, that it was not live and no one else could see the information. We argued this point, because we had multiple witnesses, but it was not addressed at all by YP.
I have been a buyer for several large corporations for over 18 years and have had many conversations with suppliers that did not provide the product or services that they had promised. I always look for a solution/compromise that works for both parties. This was the first time that I have dealt with a salesperson that insisted that we were wrong and everything we claimed to have happened, was incorrect and ignored. They even denied the fact that we were dropped after the auto payments were set up and no one contacted us until this incomplete and inaccurate information was sent by email.
The salesperson was very rude and condescending in our conversations and would say my name over and over interrupting me while I was speaking. We talked almost an hour with no compromise or even an agreement on the events that took place. It's hard to move forward and get the product you were promised, when you are told you already have it and that you are under contract and have to pay for it, even though it is not what you agreed to in the first place.
We spoke to the salesperson's manager after this unproductive conversation and they canceled our marketing/website piece and said that we'd have to pay $198 for the listing (the go live piece) that was already in place. We were pleased that they did reduced the payment, but again we weren't sure if just this listing was going to benefit our company.
We continued several months until the $640 that we had prepaid was used up and during this time, we were never contacted by YP to discuss our progress or results or set up our dashboard. We do not mind paying for a product that proves itself, but there were no benefits coming from this $198 listing each month. We have gotten 3 customer calls (no bookings) from the YP listing since it started in August 2017 (We called them in December to discuss).
In October we were approached by another Marketing Solutions Company and they claimed the same thing as YP had from the beginning. The difference was, we got to try it on for a month for free and if we liked it, we could sign up with no binding contract. We could adjust the payments whenever we wanted and even stop the advertising for a time or cancel altogether, if needed. The salesperson walked us through setting up our dashboard (which YP never did, the SP just sent the link) and we can see all the activity and make any changes as needed. This was refreshing after our unfortunate experience with YP.
In December, I called YP customer service to cancel our listing and was told that our salesperson or manager would contact us immediately. I let them know that I did not want to speak to our salesperson, because they did not have our best interest in mind and preferred to speak to a new manager with a fresh perspective. They said our manager would call me, because their guidelines were set up so that we had to work directly with our existing SP and manager. I agreed to speaking with the manager, but made it very clear I did not want to speak to our salesperson.
I hung up the phone and 5 minutes later, our same salesperson called me and said his manager was out of the office. I explained that I wanted to talk to someone else and was told that it was impossible, that they handled our account and there was no one else that could help us. I explained why I wanted to cancel (told them about the reasons above and that we were getting no results from our listing) and was told the reason why we weren't getting results, was because we pulled our marketing strategy out and went with the $200 listing.
In my original conversation with our salesperson about our webpage and how it was totally unacceptable because of the incorrect information, we communicated that we did not want YP to do our webpage and we that would do our own. I asked if we could link our own webpage to the YP listing and he apologized saying that it had to be a YP generated webpage to be on our ad.
I thought this was strange (and the other company lets us use our own) but didn't feel that we had any recourse. So when the SP called to address us canceling our account and we expressed our displeasure with the results from the $200 listing, they immediately asked if we had a web page. We do, and the SP wanted to know the link, so they could list it on our page. When I replied that I had asked about using our own page in August and how he said it was not possible, the SP disputed ever saying that to me, over and over (basically saying I was lying) and was very rude. He also kept saying my name over and over, interrupting my thoughts and concerns just like before. Our webpage was never requested again or added to our listing.
I asked why we were paying $198 for something that isn't producing results. It's less than the $600, but it's still a waste of money, if it doesn't work. I was told it didn't matter, that it was what we agreed upon after we canceled our original $640 marketing plan in our contract and there was no way to cancel it and they offered no other options or compromise.
I've never been in this situation, where we can't talk to someone else in the company and there are no options available for needed changes. We feel stuck and very displeased that we are paying good money for nothing. We are not even close to getting any of the results or benefits that were promised in our original marketing contract with YP.
I sent another email to the salesperson after the call and told him I wanted to speak to someone else other than them or their manager. I received an email back saying that he was my salesperson and there was no one else to speak with and we had a contract and that I needed to pay the past due amount ($499).We set up a new business account with another bank in October and transferred all funds. We have not given the new account information to YP, because we are not satisfied with what the first $640 paid for and wish to cancel our account.
We would appreciate it if we could speak to someone else other than our current account team, so that we can figure out how to proceed. We would like to cancel, due to the breach of contract on YP's part and lack of communication. I saw this ConsumerAffairs site and it looked like there was a YP rep helping other dissatisfied customer so I am hoping to hear from someone other than my account rep soon. Thank you for this service.

Although I called several times, I was unable to reach the person whose name and number were on the letter. The backup person she gave me in her voicemail had a disconnected number and the email bounced. I tried to call the corporate number, and no matter what option I chose other than sales, I got directed to a busy signal. The sales person said they couldn't talk to me about my 'account'. If you look on the BBB site, they have hundreds of complaints like mine, and ONE nice comment, so whoever is associated with this scam has at least one friend. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.

We’ve had DexYP for a while and we decided to stick with them. We like their personal touch and our experience with their customer service has been excellent. They’re very personal and attentive. They follow-up and they continued to stay with us when we dropped the ball. We have the search engine marketing and just an all-around larger digital or social media footprint than we have. They just have a lot of value-added programs that enable to go out and capture some extra clients for us through getting us out there and getting some reviews, and just kind of driving some business through our website.
We’ve had two separate reps in the past five years. And they’ve changed because they’ve advanced in the company. And it’s a new rep every three months and they're just taking over an old list, and there’s just no consistency there. So, I’d rather have somebody who’s been in the position doing the job and been successful enough to stay with the company long enough to have a relationship with me. But other than that, it’s an affordable solution to get some much-needed business driven to your doorstep.

I've been in contact with my "representative" and the three supervisors above him for 2 months now regarding a bill we received with an incorrect charge. We recently signed a new contract and have been charged above and beyond the contract rate each month since then. I've called numerous times each week for the past 8 weeks and not a single one of them will answer a phone or return a phone call and nothing has been done to remedy the issue. They skirt around the problem and the handful of times I have heard from someone, they tell me it is being "worked on" and that I should hear from them soon.
They continue to provide excuse after excuse to explain why this process is taking so long and blame anyone and everyone they can so as not to admit fault themselves. "I'm sorry, but that is handled by a different department." OR "I'm sorry but someone else set this up, not me." Regardless of WHO is doing the work, the customer should be regularly updated. It should not take 2 months to correct a bill and it should not take over 25 phone calls and voicemails to reach someone. I've seen similar reviews about this company online and am very, very disappointed. Their customer service, if you can call it that, is deplorable. I highly recommend you find another company to work with as this one is TERRIBLE.

DexYP calls me to renew my ad and they have always been very nice. If I have changes in my ad, I put them in. For years and years, the yellow pages has been successful for our business since people can find us. Their price is right and the quality is great. The print is large and looks good. Our company maintained an account with Dex for many years. We had a good rep. He left. Since then it was a revolving door. We were never contacted about our account, never contacted on time regarding renewals, etc. I requested a cancellation of our advertising in Sept., 2017. I was told I had an "automatic renewal" for Digital advertising (news to me!!!) and that the credit card charges could not be challenged or canceled by me, that only Dex could cancel the account. Six months and more phone calls than I can count, the contract is finally canceled. Interesting, they could charge the account automatically, but they had to manually request a refund. I would NEVER recommend advertising with this company. We kept the ad in the directory for company identification. We never received one inquiry, and there was zero benefit to any online digital advertising.
If you want to throw your money away, and then not have the right to stop throwing it away, by all means, these are the folks for you. I asked repeatedly who their regulatory agency is. NO ONE KNOWS. I intend to look into it. In my view, they have charged our company without authorization, have been negligent in canceling the account in a timely manner, and they are inept and incompetent. In my view, their policies should be illegal and I intend to look into a formal complaint, if I can find out who has oversight capability.

I will say that if you have a legit issue and you kept track of who and when you talked with your sales rep. I recommend you stay consistent and demand the lower managers escalate your issue to be investigated and reviewed. There are higher level managers that do care about you as a customer and will look into what or where the misunderstanding was if a floor level sales rep made a mistake or maybe the rep just plain didn't know about a company procedure when you talked them. The higher level management will professionally handle the situation appropriately, though you do have to stay persistent with insist that your issue be reviewed.

A DexYP guy came in here and explained to me what they do. I signed up and they told me, "You won't have any more phone calls from Google Listing and those places that call." And then he showed me the website that they recreated and it was beautiful. However, we still get those calls three times a day among all the other calls that tell us our computer's broken. And, I don't like their customer service. For what I could afford in my budget, they just put little things in there every so many days. There was a girl that went on maternity leave but before she did, she showed me how to download textures but she didn't let me do it. She did it herself and she did it so fast. I'm not that savvy so the most I got was to add contacts from a contact list.
In the fall, she downloaded really pretty pictures of a girl with long hair. And we were saying, fall in love with your color again. It was really nice and she did that for me. They would also run a certain "Did you know?" and put it on our web page, on Facebook. I love what they did on the website. They did what they said they would do and they worked with me. They were really thorough before they launch anything. She's like, "If you want that, it's $100 more a month." But I just can't do it right now. We have a lot of elderly women that come here and we do have some young people too. The shop's been here for 25 years and the website draws people in. For a while, we were getting messages on our facebook, people would ask questions and stuff and they would come right to buy a phone. We'd answer them but lately, I don't know what the problem is.
I don't know if I'm going to renew. I wish I could keep up the web. I might consider just doing the website but I still don't know and I don't even know how to get in to it if I wanted to add up anything or change prices. I don't know how to do any of that stuff. The service is at $200 a month and that's a lot of money to me. I suggest that when you're showing somebody how to do stuff, don't do it for them, talk them through it. Hands-on is how I learn.

And then finally, I talked to the right person and since then, it’s been great and they’ve done a really good job. That was when they were first starting to do the website for us. I would give them the changes or what was needed to be changed on what they had come up with. And I wouldn’t hear back for a couple few months. Been trying to cancel our account for over a month only to be told I am in a contract. I have asked a few people at the company for proof, including management, and have received nothing showing or proving what they are saying. I feel they don't care about me or my business. I want nothing more than to be done with this company so I can work with someone who values my business.

Hi Jeff -
I'm sorry to hear of the dissatisfaction surrounding your account performance. That's definitely a cause for concern. Follow up shouldn't be difficult and for that I apologize. Expect a call from our Client Care Team regarding this matter.

I've known Dan for years and he was a salesman from another company who went to Dex. We talked about the possible options and it worked out. Prior to that, everybody else who had handled our website never followed through. They didn't live up to what they told me they were supposed to do. Now, Dex does our website and social media posting. But there's a problem with the latter. It has a very high cost when you're looking at customer acquisitions. But I'm dealing with my contact on that. We have a phone meeting every month and we talk about changing and removing stuff or concentrating in different zip codes. Everything is like throwing a dart at the dartboard and you hope you can make a connection. It's not my forte though, and with Dex, I don't have to do it myself. It's a work in progress and I'm pretty pleased overall.

When we first started with DexYP, Martin had contacted us about the Yellow Pages and he explained the difference. We were paying multiple accounts so we consolidated everything with DexYP. We were doing fine with Martin but then there was some confusion as to the billing when Justin took on board. We are also having some difficulties right in our financials and we thought we were caught up. All of a sudden we’re shut down so I’m not very happy. We had wonderful experience with DexYP and it did exactly what I needed to do when we’re getting ready to do some really neat things. It’s unfortunate and I’m very disappointed that our relationship has ended because it really has affected me in my job.

We do our advertising with DexYP and they handle our website. Their services have been pretty valuable. They're able to track customers that go to the digital media to get to us or that go through print. So, we can differentiate between where our customers are coming from. And once a year, we have a meeting with them to go over any questions or concerns to see how they can help make it better. It's normally over the phone and lasts about over an hour. It's a conference call with one of their designers or a Dex rep and us. We sit down and each person is on their computer looking at our website seeing what designs can be changed to make things a little bit more desirable. We have control of changing our website if we want or we can call them and have them arrange it for us. We've done this for a few years now and they handle our questions or concerns in a pretty timely fashion.

Hi Cheryl,
Thank you kindly for the great star rating and review! It makes us feel good to know that we're getting it right!

We got DexYP to have assistance in marketing, and it has been really good. We'd rather pay someone to do that role as opposed to us doing on our own to get more patients. There was a lot of change over for about a year with my representative, which was frustrating because then they have to keep calling to introduce themselves and it was annoying as it took up time that way. But the actual monthly reviews have been great and I’ve had the same representative for a while now, so that’s been easier. Having DexYP's service has been valuable and our overall experience has been positive.

The saleswoman came to my office to make her sales pitch and fed me loads of false information resulting in a 2 year dispute and me surrendering $1320 for nothing. She said she needed my credit card to secure my spot on their website because there were very few left, "But don’t worry. You can cancel anytime." Long story short, I called her to cancel, she said ok and that was the last of it, I didn’t get charged anymore and that was it, right... WRONG!!!! For 23 months now I have been fighting with this company and they have THE WORST customer service on the planet.
It took me 3 days... 3DAYS, to just get a phone number for the manager of billing. Essentially they were charging me in their own magical land that doesn’t show on my card statements but shows on their end. Also once I “cancelled” I checked their website and my listing wasn’t on there... but of course they say it was on there for 6 months. Well joke's on them because if it was up there for 6 months, I didn’t get one call or inquiry from their website, proving it doesn’t work but they don’t want to hear it. Hands down, the worst company from sales to customer service. Save your money and go advertise literally anywhere else.

I have been going round and round with several different people at DexYP. First they "update" our website for whatever reason and SPELL OUR NAME INCORRECTLY making us look like complete idiots. Our business has "therapy" in it they spelled it THERAPHY. Several patients have commented on how our business name is spelled wrong. Not to mention documents went missing for our patient's to fill out and incorrect contact information is listed.
Dealing with them for going on well over 8 months. We want nothing to do with DexYP - stay clear or YOU WILL REGRET IT. They have affected our business in a very bad way. I pleaded to get the domain surrendered to us at NO CHARGE and to NO avail we sit with no website and no domain. A website WE paid a separate company to design. And going on 8 months of incorrect information out on the internet. They have us locked into a contract that provides us absolutely NOTHING but payments to them from us until July 2018. I can hardly wait for then when we can actually get out, oh but what a fight I am sure that will be to terminate. We just want our domain at no cost to us so that we can move on from DexYP. Do the right thing DexYP. How on earth can they legally bill you for something they are not providing is beyond me? They are an incompetent company that have incompetent employees.

Always have advertised with YP. Never any problem, just that phonebooks are getting smaller and smaller and were not getting a lot of hits off our internet listing with them. So when they called to re-sign up for the next year (no thanks) told the rep Matthew ** that I was thinking about canceling them and just making a web page. He suggest that they could do that for us and take us out of the printed page and just keep us online ad. Had to pay them with a debit card to sign up for this one time fee and then we would be billed monthly.
We talked about web page, sent them pictures. They sent me a viewing of what the web page would look like. They were going to tweak it and then launch it next week. No one has launched it, but Ive been billed $199.00 for the month of March 2018 (automatically) on credit card that they used "Auto Pay" which I did not sign for and we don't have a web page yet and no one will return our calls. THRYV has ruined Dex YP advertising relationship with us. I have nothing good to say about them, when I call DexYP they say Thryv is a separate entity and that they have no connection to see what they're doing for us or in this case not doing, so I believe they are selling their client list to these chumps and letting them take advantage of their customers and I am PISSED!

DexYP is great. I use their service for my website and they've made a good setup for me. The rep that comes by is also great. I finally got a guy that knows what he’s doing. Between him and my son, they know more about setting up my website, which is coming out shortly, than I do to stimulate the new business. I’ve been with Yellow Pages for over 25 years and they always bring in business. They reach millions of people. Now that DexYP bought their advertising part, they're very important to me. I found out that Yellow Pages doesn’t deliver books anymore for the most part and what they do is they advertise on the internet. Everything’s going in the net now. I've also recommended DexYP to a couple of people. Their service is terribly expensive, like Yellow Pages, but at the end of the year, you're doing good.

She loads things on our webpage or the Facebook link. Right now, the only thing we use it for, because of the time constraint, is just having the webpage and being able to put pictures on it. We use the drive connection a little bit but not as much as we should because we haven’t loaded a lot of e-mails on it where messages can be sent. We’re a small business. We only have four employees and it takes time to do all of that. Also, DexYP's service is expensive and we had a problem with the name of the website. There was some lack of communication between our rep and the people that did the webpage.

I learned the software, the platform and we just stick to what we know and try not to switch up too often unless it has problems. But we haven't had any complaints that's why we still have it. We use the website a lot because it helps me do the marketing. It's a good tool to have in my back pocket, which makes my job easier. I don't have to think about it too hard. I just play around with it and do some notes and then go out and make things happen.
DexYP has helped our revenue because we get more patients. It makes things easier for our staff because time management is everything. So it helps us definitely save time. The customer service was great. When we had a technical issue a couple of weeks back, they had a tech call and helped us get through that. I was satisfied. It didn't slow us down because they were attentive and didn't take a long time to call back. I would recommend DexYP to a friend of mine who would need any other services.

I've never advertised with YP, outside business they had with AT&T, supposedly. Yet, AT&T checked back to 2007. No billings from YP. In Oct 2017 I received a call from YP that my advertising account was delinquent. I called immediately thinking we'd straighten it out. No. Despite my many attempts I am now in collections for a $22.00 monthly fee I never agreed to. AT ALL, $120 total but it's the principle. They have actually been separated from AT&T for 2 years, not 3 months. Just paying has occurred to me but YP could just bill again. Anyone with this experience please feel free to reach out to me. I will revisit this site. Together we can fight this nonsense billing. I have asked for YP legal department phone number, that's where this is headed... could not get it! Unscrupulous in every sense.

They will destroy your business, if that's the only way they have to get you to fulfill the contract they refuse to let you out of. STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!! We were originally contacted over a year ago to sign up for a trial period of 10 days and if we were not satisfied within those 10 days we could cancel at any time, with no strings attached.
We contacted them within the respected trial period that we wanted to cancel because the website they built was a joke, so as far as we knew we were free from doing any business with them. We have continued to get bills every month from them. We call, email, leave messages and nobody answers back. They have people who have no authority call and hound us and we explain we canceled within the trial time so we are not in contract. They refuse to listen. They have now sent lawyers after us and are trying to sue and have also threatened to go after any shareholders connected with our business, if we don't pay. These people are money hungry frauds and I'm committed to share the truth of how they do business on as many sites as I can. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM DEXYP AS YOU CAN!!! At one time, three years ago, I had three different websites and I was paying a lot of money for them, but they weren't doing anything for me. We had their services for website, videos and then by the years the packages got different -- Facebook, Google and some more and more was added to their package which was great, and the price was very reasonable. More people checked the website and they had comments made. “Oh, yeah. We saw your website. We saw your menu.” I really enjoyed working with Stacy, the rep that I used, and the guy that comes over to talk to me, Scott. He always answered all my questions and returned every phone call. He guided me, looked over the website and changed it. I'm just happy.
But for a period of time that I didn't have Scott I wasn’t pleased. What happened was a while back Dex Media put the wrong time and said that I was closed and I was just reimbursed for two months. We need free two months saying when the thing had been closed more. It was a bad situation because it put me down as closed. The restaurant has been closed for two months. I’ve always been resentful of that and it had nothing to do with my reps. He immediately jumped on it. He had gone through everything thoroughly with me. He came to my business. This is from way two years ago so I cannot blame him.
And at that time I was assigned to somebody else, which I did over the phone. I said, “I’m not signing a contract with all these over the phone. I need a one on one, face to face.” So that’s when they reassigned Scott back to me and everything went smooth. But during that period of time I had some other guy who would reach for my phone calls. Little did I know that somebody else took over Scott's place. I would like somebody to call me because I’ve always been unhappy because of that incident. I never really got reimbursed properly.
It wasn’t till I got Scott back where I could sit on a one on one. He stops by here and there even when he isn't supposed to just to say, “Look, I’m looking at your website. Looks really good. Did you take time to look at this good comments people have written?” That personal interaction makes me want to not leave Dex Media. Their attentiveness is important. Stuff like when I'm in the restaurant, all text keeps going through. "You’re all right this time?" Every time that I have dealt with Scott I would recommend him to the whole town. He took time to show me the details and the benefits of everything and that got me.
So that meant a lot, because of that one person doing everything. The fact that he returns back to show me the proof that, “See. This is what we said that we were going to do and this is part of that package.” It really established the trust in the communication. And on top of that Stacy is excellent. She did not mind repeating things, checking up on me. Even when I forget to check up she calls me. She calls according to my business schedule. Like I leave my house at 10:00 AM. “Can you call me at 8:30 our time?” “Absolutely.” Sometimes she never said no. They took the time to point things out like, “You see, we made this change. Are you happy with this?” All that makes the person feel comfortable.

On our first year with DexYP, Myra, the outside rep who gets paid a commission on getting me, did us up a little print and asked me what I thought of it. I told her the changes I wanted, which I also did in the proof that they sent me. I had to mail it back which made no sense in today's day and age when we have email and everything. But, I mailed it back and it never got done, so my print was in the three books and it was in within that for a year, and correct or not, I still wanted it to be done. So then the next year, we came up to renew and I told Myra that every part of it was a pretty awful experience. She then said that she would personally come by every five to six weeks to help me through. She gave me the print and asked me and my father to review it, and she would come by in the second week of January. I also told her that doing this mail by paper was silly because it must've gotten lost in the mail because she didn't get it last time
Then on February 20th, she reached out to me and said that the last time she was in, we talked about the bill and she never heard nothing, and that the Dex representative was going to email and take care of all the stuff, but they were saying that they were going to cut my service off because I hadn't paid. I said, "You're right. When you were in here last time, I told you that I was two months behind because you told me they were doing the billing incorrectly. You told me that!" I also told her that I sent her an email, but it still hasn't got resolved. She apologized and promised to get this resolved and credited within the day and I would hear from her within the hour but, big shocker, it was not within the hour.
I sent her four emails and my last email was to the DexYP rep, but I CC'd Myra in every one of these emails. So if she was that concerned, why didn't she respond to anything? So, I stopped from paying. I didn't owe them money and I didn't want to give them a single cent, but in the same breath, I was getting charged a late fee and a service charge and all I wanted to do was to go back and get the bills straight. I tried to get it resolved since October and I also reached out to them in December because I really wanted to get it paid before the end of the year. Then I had to reach out on January 30th about the bill again. But everybody always said that they didn't know every time. They finally got that straight after one year and they said, "Oh, my god. We're so sorry we did this, we did this, we did it." They gave us credit and said that they wanted our business and wanted to make sure that we were good.
The only one who did their job was the representative from Dex and she was taken away from me. Now the service has gone done. I wanted to do about $980 on the first year and when it comes out, the cost comes down after a while. But, I was not using any of the services. They sent me a Thryv report that said how much we had done, but I had zero email. Then I reached out to a Dex rep and she said that they changed my email on my website. Then, it just changed one day and my father was getting all the emails on his personal email, but that was the email where he wanted the bill sent to.
Also, since I've had Dex, I never had a Saturday and Sunday hours, but everything has gotten changed and it had us have hours on weekends. When I called to change these couple of times, this last rep from Dex was really nice. But she got a conference call so she gave me her contact information and said that he was going to send what I would and would not get out of Thryve. She sent my thing to have my password and all my stuff on it, and that was it. I still haven't heard from her.
DexYP looked good on paper but our customer service experience was absolutely awful. We're a small family operated company. I signed up for digital and print two years ago and I was told it was going to be acted out in my allowance a month, but it never came to that. I've had print wrong since I've started with them. Now, the prints are getting ready to go out and into the books. If it doesn't get resolved, I'll have prints at all the yellow page books that are not what I wanted for two years in a row.

YP's advertising DexYP is excessively charging us, we were promised we can cancel but they don't return phone calls after months of trying to reach them. They auto renewed our account without permission and will not allow us to stop services for advertising that does not work. We need to cancel and obtain a refund on the $3000 they are charging us! They are crooks! Promise you the world but you get the runaround when trying to contact them. They sound sympathetic when you call but they just make you repeat your story 100 times with 100 different people and nothing ever gets resolved. I have been trying to cancel services for 4 months now without a solution!
We need some answers now and are not the only ones who have had this issue. On BBB.com there are over a thousand reviews of the same exact problem. They make you sign a 1 year contract for $3000, then charge you up to $600 a month when your contract says it's only $300 per month. They charge different amounts each month with no leads or phone calls for your business, advertising does not work but you are still charged for each "click". You are promised, in writing, that you can cancel only to find out that this is impossible and then you are locked in to auto-renew which you didn't agree to. They continue to bill you for years! It's a scam and doesn't work!

DexYP has been the representative for our local yellow pages. Since they come with the yellow page ad, we could not get rid of them unless somebody else tried representing the yellow pages. We've had DexYP for about 12 years and we've followed them, even with the different name changes that they've had. They’ve changed names two or three times, but this has been seamless and hasn’t impacted us at all. I run the same ad with them year after year. The rates have gone up a little bit every year, but these have been reasonable and we've been happy with the results that we got.
The phone book ad is all we need right now. We just do a low key, minimum cost website and we're not interested in anything special in the internet department. The customer service at DexYP has been fine. They tell me to renew once a year and whenever they change reps, the new rep calls to let me know of the change. We're happy with DexYP and we're not going anywhere else.

We have advertisements for the Ocean County yellowbook with DexYP. There's a lot of older people in retirement communities that are not big with the web or computers, so they benefit most from it, which is why we keep it. They're used to their phonebook for information. Everyone at DexYP is very helpful and knowledgeable. They follow up when things are going to renew or something opens up. They always call, so they have their things together and they're very organized. We're very satisfied.

DexYP had a good program for us, and it's been a couple of years since we've been with them. Last year, we did the phone book as well as the web page and the whole thing. The customer service team was great whenever I needed something. I had a good talk last week with the gentleman. I got his email, and alI I have to do is send him some pictures and he can change things for me. The easier, the better for me. It would be great if prices could come down, but everything is done good. With DexYP, we seem to get a few more phone calls, which is basically what we're looking for. I just need to figure out how to see who's been getting several emails and make sure they're seeing it on the website or exactly where are they seeing us.

We've been with DexYP since day one of our business. We did yellow pages ad with them and now they're doing our website, which is part of our advertising. Generally, our experience has been good. They have always been good even though it's a little expensive. DexYP is very valuable to us since they're our main source of advertising. However, it's hard to get a callback from the young lady that handles our online stuff and I don't get a response until I send another email.

After many attempts at resolving unsatisfactory service and unaware of a contract between DexYP and my business. Finally all has been handled in detail, a full refund has been debited to my account and a confirmation of stopped future services. I have to say it was very stressful and overwhelming to get the situation handled. I am pleased with the outcome and overall conclusion.

As a small family business owner since 2007 I have been old school in the way I ran our business to avoid problems and keep things simple. I was called by DexYP several times and asked to allow them to help bring me more business to update my way of advertising, promised to bring more clients at no hassle or contracts. After meeting with Hannah and her manager and offered more promises I decided to try out their services. What could be the harm I could cancel if not happy with services right? This company is a fraud!!!! After several weeks of not hearing from anyone, profile page with email I have no access to, one ad on Superpages for wrong service, incorrect address listed, website made for entirely wrong type of business I do and no call back after money was taken from my account.
Finally contacting head office and sent to Hannah a campaign manager. I was told I had a contract no way out and blamed for not giving correct information. Not able to cancel. After many attempts I got an email of 21-day opt-out option from head office and was supposed to be able to qualify. Now I have a letter stating different. I have contacted 9 news and being a small business with no knowledge of new forms of advertisement, single mom willing to try new help to make money. I have been scammed and taken advantage of. Run from this company.

I was looking at having display ads, business ads, and Internet presence through DexYP, and we just expanded from their provider from the local print phonebook. Their customer service has been good. Anytime I want to change or had a question, they've always answered. DexYP's service has been good. It has helped us a little and some people had seen it. Their ads have been better than other things they had in the last couple of years. Overall, DexYP is a good company to deal with and I'm happy with them. But like anything else, people should do some research with anything before they pick on who they're going to go with.

DexYP has handled all our phonephone ads for years and then we continued using them. They run our website, too. When we first got the website, it was great. I was able to log in and update myself and whatever. And then for the past two years, we got busy. They changed formats and companies and everything. And now that it's winter time, we're sort of slow, so I was trying to add stuff to it and I couldn't get in touch with anybody. But the website is valuable. I'm happy with it. Customers get our number, and they call us.

I signed up with them in mid August 2017 and they launched the services on 9/22/2017 and at the time of contract I was given the option of 90 days opt-out with no penalty. A week or so before the expiration of my 90 days I emailed and called the customer relation to cancel, they kept charging my credit card and wouldn't honor their own salesman's opt out option. I had to stop the payment with credit card and I'm still going back and forth with them. My advice: STAY AWAY from DEXYP.

Our DexYP representative informs and gives us all the information and he's extremely knowledgeable, so we continued to stay with the company. Also, the customer service team has been very good and they're always around when I need to ask questions. DexYP is extremely useful and I'd tell my friends that they need to look into it.

I've been contacting DexYP through email about our website because I made a price for my business that we put on the page and everything hasn't lined up quite right. I had to email them a few revisions and they are working well with me to get them straightened out. My experience with DexYP has been good for the most part. It's good having them because it brings up quite a bit more business advertising through them. I'm mostly satisfied with their service and I'd recommend them.

I dealt with Craig, my DexYP representative, and he’s awesome. Anytime I have a problem, I’m able to call him and he comes and walks me through what I need to know. And, he sets out my strategies too. He’s amazing and I love him. It's very valuable having DexYP. They set all my keywords. We set up a target for my local area where I really want to push all my advertising. They helped me set up my Facebook and my webpage, and they assisted me with doing a video too. They’re also helping us expand our business into Jersey. I’ve been in the position to work with DexYP for about three years but our company has been working with them for six years now. I’d recommend them because of their team on the ground. Craig was so diligent about making sure that we’re satisfied with our service. He’s really one of the main reasons I stay with DexYP. He doesn’t make you feel like you’re a burden in any sense.

We've used DexYP for 20 plus years, through six or eight of their name changes, because they've had the paper phonebook, which we used since it gave just our general phone number and company name. We've always had the ad and DexYP was one of the companies that has owned the advertising media format. I've dealt with the reps once or twice, such as when the sales rep was looking if we wanted extra coverage. The reps were fine and answered questions.
We're set in using the advertising for a certain format and we're willing to pay only a certain amount, and we haven't made any changes for a decade. It's the format that we buy, so that the ad is in the white pages and in written form. We've been getting two to three decent calls a year for leads, so we've kept the service. It has been a steady form of leads annually, so we'll still use whoever ends up owning it next.
