    Claims HandlingCoverage

    Reviewed Nov. 4, 2016

My regular warranty from the dealership was expiring and I figured ProtectMyCar calling me was an opportunity. It was there and I didn't have to dig around so I gave them a shot. But they were not being honest as far as what they're going to protect. We submitted a claim which was difficult to do based on what my mechanic told me. Usually, with a claim I can take it to any mechanic. Then the mechanic will tell me what the cost is and I would tell that to the insurance provider who will come and take a look. But in this case, ProtectMyCar wanted me to have the mechanic call them to let them know what the cost is gonna be so ProtectMyCar can visit them. They didn’t want to deal with me as the insurer. They wanted to deal directly with whoever was fixing the car.

Then my mechanic was having a hard time getting ProtectMyCar to compensate him for certain things that should’ve belonged in the extended warranty. It didn’t work based on what they said they were going to do. I paid them more money than they forked out on this warranty that they should’ve covered. I was not assured that they were going to do what they said they were gonna do in writing. So I was a little disappointed. They sold the insurance to another company and it wasn't ProtectMyCar that I dealt with, it was the other company before that. I can see how they took advantage of me by changing their name and not doing what they said they were gonna do.

We were with one of those auto warranties and they changed their name over to ProtectMyCar. So we just stayed with them. Their claims rep was friendly and helpful. There was no trouble getting a claim through them. If they're same as they did last time, it'd be okay with ProtectMyCar.

I called Protectmycar claims office recently when I had a claim and they told me what information I needed to give to the dealership. I did all that stuff and then it was fairly simple after that. Then the dealership had to contact them a couple of times and had a hard time getting through but I'm thinking it wasn't so bad.

However, I had a question at one point because the dealership told me the cost of the repairs and after I paid half of that to Protectmycar, their reps later asked me if I still wanted to pay a fee of $125. I said no. I’ve already paid half of my bill and then they told me the bill was a different amount, so I thought, “Okay. What is the deal here?” But when we went to the dealership to sign all the papers, I had to pay some $38 fee because they said insurance things don’t cover that, which I paid. It sounded reasonable. And the total amount was what I was told in the very beginning.

The price of the auto warranty was within reason and I'm pleased they helped me to pay for various expensive parts. However, they were supposed to reimburse me for the rental car and they haven't yet. Enterprise already faxed them all the information and I was there where they faxed it but the ProtectMyCar rep said they haven't gotten anything.

I’m very happy with ProtectMyCar and the setup was a little bit more reasonable over other auto warranty providers. I submitted claims several times and it was very easy, even for the mechanic himself and the company. The claims representative and I have a nice relationship. Everybody was so very kind and nice and customer service was excellent. Everything was wonderful. The money went through very well and the mechanic was very pleased with it. It's just 5 minutes and that was it. He was paid.

When I called ProtectMyCar, they told me about their service and then I signed up for it. Making payments is really easy. They just take money out of my account every month, and I don't have to worry about it. The only time I got to worry is if I don't see it come out. When I submitted a claim, it went very well and I'm truly satisfied.

Their claims rep is very nice. He took care of business. He was on top of it, and I was really happy about that. I'd really like to commend the young man who took care of me personally, and recommend that ProtectMyCar gives him some award and recognition. Because I have been involved with companies wherein, when I call them, they'd be saying, "Okay I'll call to have somebody to call you back". But I don't hear from them for a week, so I have gotten to call them back and then they say, "Well, that's why we still didn't call you. I'll have him call you within the next day or two."

Plus, ProtectMyCar contacted the person that I had been dealing in the car body shop and he prepared everything. Once I got the part of my deductible ready, everything fell into place within a couple of days and then they turned it over. He gave good service to me that make me want to say, "Okay I feel safe around that" because I've had other people calling me, "You know your warranty?" I say, "I already got a warranty I don't need y'all. Thank you, goodbye."

When we were looking for an extended warranty for one of our vehicles, my husband found ProtectMyCar online. We also looked at a couple of warranty companies, even the one we originally had with the vehicle, but ProtectMyCar was the best one so we went with them. They were able to give us the quote that we liked at the time.

We recently had to submit a claim with them for the vehicle that we have. It started off easy and they were very cooperative. But it got pretty difficult and at the very end, it didn't turn out as smooth as we'd hoped it would be. There was a lot of delay and we can't quite figure out where the delay came from. We haven't been able to get some answers as quickly as we would've liked. And right now, I'm still waiting to hear back from them on something that I submitted maybe three weeks ago.

Unfortunately, my vehicle sat at the car dealership for several weeks before the work was started on it because we were waiting to hear back from ProtectMyCar. But then they said they were waiting to hear back from the gentleman at the car dealership. There's a lot of back and forth and there seemed to be a miscommunication. At one time there was a hurricane in Florida where they were located in so the system was down for a few days. We understood that. But then the estimator also couldn't get there. Then after he finally got there, for whatever reason, it took a week and a half to get his information input.

ProtectMyCar was supposed to pay for the work and that was initially done. But the car wasn't able to get worked on because the dealership was waiting to hear back from ProtectMyCar. They eventually did the work and then ProtectMyCar paid whatever they said they were gonna pay. But now, we're still waiting for them to pay for a portion of a rental car. I've submitted that form through fax a few weeks ago but we never did hear anything. I finally called back about a week and a half later and the guy there said to email him something, but then we haven't heard anything back afterwards. We've also had some issues on our call getting through. I was on hold for 20 minutes before I can get to a real person then I would get disconnected. That was a little disheartening so I spoke with them then. That happened like three times during a time when we were travelling. After the third call, we finally got through so we got past that hump.

ProtectMyCar needs to work more on their customer service. To me, a phone should never ring for 20 minutes. First of all, it should never be put on hold for 20 minutes and then get hung up on. Also, that should definitely not happen three times straight in the same day. They also have to make sure that communication is kept up between the client and whoever's doing the work. I understand that sometimes delays come up and it's always a different thing that one can't control. But the client would always want to be at least kept in the loop. I don't think the customer should have to be the one to constantly call back, be kept on hold then get disconnected. Also, their vehicle shouldn't have to sit at the shop for two weeks without any work being done on it because then their rental cost becomes extremely high.

I want to protect my family because both my wife and daughter are handicapped. I needed some reassurance. I searched the web for car insurance and was checking out a few different ones, and ProtectMyCar sounded pretty good. However, when I submitted a claim it was terrible. My car was acting funny that day. I started the car and it was like running on a couple of cylinders, like if I got water in the gas tank. I called ProtectMyCar and they referred me to AAMCO Transmission. They highly recommended it and they were affiliated with it. I said it's not a transmission problem but they said AAMCO does a lot of other extents of work. So I had a tow truck take it over there.

My car sat there for over three weeks before anything happened to it. I was bounced from one person to another. AAMCO did their estimation in the third week, and they found out it wasn’t in their area. And then they had put it off another week and they said it will be $150. I said, "I’ll pay it, just get somebody out there to do their estimate." They finally got out there.

AAMCO did an inspection on it and they said our transmission was going out. I had no idea that it had a transmission problem. To me it seemed fine. So I said it was missing. I told the tow truck driver that they had sent out to do this and get it over there. The guy at AAMCO said “We’ll do this first and then we’ll go back and reinstate another claim". I said, “No. This is the problem. I need my car back. My wife has to go every Monday to do dressing change with the PICC line.”

AAMCO submitted the estimate. I was playing phone tag between the two of them because neither parties were getting along. It was after three weeks they finally offered me a rental car for $30. Also, ProtectMyCar sent their own transmission. It’s a used warranty transmission, which looked pretty good and I’m happy with it. But that wasn’t the issue at hand.

They took advantage of me at AAMCO ‘cause I found out there was an air hose that had come off. And when that comes off, it works the fuel injectors. It does that spit and sputter sound and is missing. After I got the car back and all this went on, that hose came off and it did the same exact thing that it was doing. I could barely make it back to the driveway and it cost me $2000 for a hose. It slipped off and I don’t think there were any other problems.

I also kept telling AAMCO not to leave the windows down. When I got the car back, it was all dusty inside. It was really a nightmare on both parties. I'm just happy I got the car back. They did get it fixed but I’m very dissatisfied. I’m still with ProtectMyCar. I might look down the road at other companies but right now I have so much on my plate.

ProtectMyCar saved me a little bit when I was in a bind but I'm not satisfied with them. I ended up paying what little bit I saved on a rental car because they were under the impression that I paid for the wrong car from the time it was in the shop to the time it was picked up and they lagged around. On my end, I had to call them several times. Anyway, we got everything taken care of and they were fairly nice about it. However, they said they were only going to pay three days for the rental car, but they took more than three days’ worth, having to go back and forth. So I ended up paying for the rest of the rental car.

I hated my experience with ProtectMyCar. I didn't feel that I was taken seriously and don't want to continue. I found out there was something wrong with the engine and then that was where the problem with the company started. I went back and forth with them when I submitted a claim. Ron, the guy who was doing the policy, was very obnoxious, rude and made me feel as if I was less than a consumer. I felt like I was bothering him. I didn't like it at all.

My car was in the shop for almost a month before they had gotten the funding to go ahead and approve it. I've been with the company for two years and still had to go through that rigmarole. They gave me the runaround and I felt like I was imposing. My business wasn't appreciated at all. Then I was supposed to get a rent-a-car but didn't even know. Somebody at the dealership told me that my car has been there for two months so I should just go ahead and ask for a rental. ProtectMyCar approved it for five days.

Making payments was great at first because they used to take the money directly from my account every month. But then they stopped and now, they're calling me saying I need to mail in a payment or put a credit card on file. And I don't want to do that. I felt like I was with a secondary type of warranty company. They gave me that impression because I didn't feel as if they were the real deal. I didn't think that they follow through on making it easy for me to be able to get my car done at a timely fashion and all of that good stuff.

I needed an auto warranty right away. I took a chance on ProtectMyCar and didn't get a chance to go in-depth on finding a warranty company. They gave me a good deal but I'm getting no feedback. I feel like I'm getting ripped off in a way. For me to be paying every month this kind of money, it's like I'm paying to a ghost. They don't have a business card or an email. They said they're gonna mail me a card, book or pamphlet to keep in my car all the time but I got nothing in the mail. Someone like AAA will have something in the mail within less than three days and I'm gonna have all kinds of extra deal package. Then if I refer the company to a friend, I get a 15% discount or $15 off.

I spent almost $3000 with them almost a month ago for work done on my car. I thought I'll just be going down there to the shop and pay the amount that was required for me to pay. But I had to pay ProtectMyCar first which I didn't know. I thought they had all that taken care of at the dealer I'm going to. I'm about to use them again this week to fix something else on my car so I have to search them back out and find out where they're at. ProtectMyCar's type of business is not gonna work. Customer service is terrible. I'm iffy about making another payment because I ain't hearing from them.

ProtectMyCar has a better deal, so I went with them. I submitted my very first claim a month ago, and the representative walked me through everything that I needed to do. The process was absolutely easy. I was so afraid, but they made it so stress-free. Everything was taken care of just the way that it was stated, and I barely came out of pocket for anything. I've used the roadside assistance one time when my car had a flat. I didn't like the wait time but it was due to the location of where I was, but other than that, it was a really great experience and they got me taken care of.

ProtectMyCar is a wonderful company and I feel like I made a really great decision, almost like an investment as a matter of fact. Overall, my experience has been wonderful. Everybody is helpful anytime I call in, and it's really great that it's personal. When I call in, I feel like they already know who I am and they acknowledge me by my name. I don't feel like a customer. It almost feels like a family experience.

The policy pays on covered repairs. No policy, no matter who issues it, will cover 100% of a vehicle. As your vehicle ages it will be likely that future repairs will be required. As comprehensive as the policy is, it is far more likely that future repairs will be covered. When we help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage. Again, thank you for your comments.

This way, they can deal with that person over the phone. Just like what I did the last time. ProtectMyCar gave me a reimbursement for the work that I had to pay for out of my pocket. I was shocked that even happened. The only issue was with the dealership we had to deal with. They did sort of a poor job. But ProtectMyCar is good. I told ProtectMyCar about my custom rims. I didn't know their exact size but I told their guy what the dealer had given me. He accepted it, but there was a commotion as I had to be switched to another program that cost over $1,000. They were only willing to cover a 5A because it was an empty rim. They needed to honor their word and I had to get a lawyer involved. I’m more convinced of switching over. I paid more and on top of that, all of it wasn’t credible.

I chose Protect My Car because the warranty they offered was reasonable. At first they gave me a deal with just $100 deductible, but they took it back from me because they said I didn't have the original rims on the car. They gave me half off, though. I usually file claims over the phone. The claim process happens quickly, in less than an hour, with them calling me and me calling them back over the phone. The claim reps were pretty good and easy to get a hold of. One of them who's out of Clearwater was real nice. It was good with Protect My Car. I had something fixed on my car last month and I'm using them right now because I had to have something fixed on my car again. The only thing that I didn't like is that they wanted me to fax the signature over to them when I have access to a fax machine, so I had to do a voice authorization.

The first time I’ve seen ProtectMyCar, I thought it was real cool. Submitting claims wasn't hard and we did it over the phone. The only thing that wasn’t good about it is I had talked to a lot of different representatives and they didn’t know what was going on, even though each rep I had talked to would put it in my notes. Talking to different people and then them wanting to keep giving different prices was a whole big fiasco. But, paying for the warranty was the easiest part.

My car was smoking real bad and I was advised by Stephanie from ProtectMyCar to not drive my car at all. I was an emotional wreck back then because ProtectMyCar took forever. I went over to them to get the car towed at 9 in the morning, and the shop had everything already ready to go. And then there were waiting and waiting and waiting. And it was almost closing time when ProtectMyCar approved it. So I went and fixed it. It was $600 and they covered half of it. I paid ProtectMyCar and then they paid the mechanic with their corporate credit card and everything was fixed. And I got to know that my 16-year old car has a super remarkable engine because whoever owned the car before me, was keeping it up with the oil change. So the 16-year old engine looked practically brand new.

I got a rental car on that day and paid out of pocket for it. It was $45 and some odd cents. But ProtectMyCar made adjustment, and actually paid me more than what I paid for the car. They gave me two days of car rental when I only had the car for one day. And was equals up to be $60 instead of $45. I even called and was asking if they were aware and they said yes.

So far, ProtectMyCar have done exactly what they are supposed to and I'm very thankful because if I didn't have them, I would've paid almost $700 when I did not have that money. Also, I like that I had signed up my payment to get automatic drafted out of my account. It allows me to call them one day ahead of time and pay them myself. So that works out all so well.

I had to wait for them to fix my truck because I would've really been in trouble if I would've gone out of town. My truck stayed in the shop about five days. I had to pay for half of the repair cost, and some guy there told me that I had to send ProtectMyCar a payment before they would pay for my truck. My truck is working now, but I wouldn't recommend them.

Thanks for your comments. We are happy to respond. Your policy guarantees 50% reduction in repair costs. The reason the last repair took longer was additional repairs discovered during the repair. That is not uncommon but does add to the repair time. The policy saved you over $1,130. Not bad for an investment of less than $100 in premiums. We are sure that on reflection, you will see how much help the policy has already been to you on just your first repair.

ProtectMyCar is the worst insurance in this world. The people that you talk to are uneducated and they have no business background, no idea what you’re calling for. As soon as I sell my truck, I’m dumping the insurance and I will never use it again. I had the truck fixed a month ago and had to come up with my share. They said they would just send a corporate credit card and will get it paid right away. Two weeks later, I went in the shop to see if they got paid and they said that ProtectMyCar won’t answer the phone. Then when you call, you don’t even get the same person. You get somebody that has no idea what’s going on so you would have to explain the whole situation again.

It’s a nightmare insurance. They have screwed us out of so much money. It’s ridiculous. When we were traveling in North Carolina, we had to get our air conditioning fixed and they said that I can just go somewhere and have it fixed. But when the shop called them, Brian, the rudest individual I've ever talked to on the phone, blew us off. They refused to pay for it. We had to shoulder the $960 so we could continue traveling because we were on a schedule and we had animals.

I once had a conversation with a lady about the money that we lost. She said she would talk to people and see if she can get our money back. But that has been two months ago and I haven’t heard from anybody. I will not call them because if I do, I have to start from square one and again explain to somebody that has no clue about anything. I hate ProtectMyCar. I have told all my friends and they have told their friends to not take these people. Save your money, go somewhere else.

Protect My Car was the first company that popped up and I appreciated the stuff that they were doing and the good rates so I went with it. The only thing I had an issue with was the dealership where I did my claim doesn’t provide any rental car services. I was stuck there until I had to call in for a ride, and that alone cost me $100. I had to go all the way to Killeen to rent a car. It also would be nice if the rental car could be extended for certain situations. Other than that, I’m pretty satisfied.

The beginning was kind of rough because for the first 30 minutes, I was the middle man between the service advisor and making phone calls, explaining what the situation was. So I was stressed out already because of the fact that my issue was going on. The process worked out just fine. At the end with the final bill and everything, it was great and I had no issues. I still have to send in my reimbursement to the car rental. I would definitely refer Protect My Car to someone else. In fact, I’ve talked to my mom, my sister and my girlfriend about it, and we’ll see when we can get the ball rolling.

ProtectMyCar called me about buying a policy for $1000 and they kept coming down on the price until it reached $25. They gave me a 30-day trial. I told them how old my car was because they have a no pre-existing condition. I said, “Well, if something breaks, the car has 162,000 miles on it.” It’s been wearing out for the last 10 years.

I had a problem and asked them whether the shop would have to use their parts because it says that they try to get the price down to half the price and save half the money. None of the shops would do any work if they had to use somebody else’s part. It was $850 which didn’t even include one of the parts. It would’ve been over $900 at Sears but the shop that I took it to was $600. They thought that that was a really good deal to begin with. The shop was saying "Once you use it, you’re stuck into paying that $3000. You can’t cancel it." I talked to the company that they’re selling and they said. “No, absolutely. It says right there you cancel at any time.” I believed them and so I went for it. But they had to call ProtectMyCar to get an approval before they start to work.

The other thing was that I have half the money since I paid ProtectMyCar, and then they pay the shop. They said, “Well, if you pay them and they never pay us, you’ll never get your car back.” Anyway, I paid them, they paid the shop and I got it for half-price. Since they’re tax exempt, we didn’t have to pay tax so that saved us another $40. When it’s done, they pay the other half. It’s a little weird but it worked out really good and it was well worth it.

ProtectMyCar has been a great help on the two repairs I've had done on the car. I liked it but I thought it offered more coverage than it did. The sales rep didn't explain how my vehicle was covered. When I was getting my oil changed, they said they will pay the oil change completely no matter what it was. But when the attendant put the number in to call the place, the warranty only covers for a regular one. I have so many extra miles on my Jeep so I get high-grade for it and it isn't covered. Then I had the radiator fan on my car done, but again the warranty only covers 25% and I have to pay the rest. It blindsided me, but still, any help at that time was better than none ‘cause I didn’t have $500.

Ambassador policies were created for vehicles that do not qualify for standard breakdown coverage, because of excessive age or miles, or pre-existing conditions. Ambassador policies are less expensive than standard extended warranties and appeal to those on a limited budget.

Ambassador policies provide free oil changes, free tire rotations and a significant reduction in repair costs, They also come with towing, 24 /7 roadside assistance and rental car benefits.

So we went through all the processes and I got their 50/50 plan, which is saving me a lot of money. I have put it in my car and we'll add it to the one my husband and I will get in the future. I'm getting what ProtectMyCar said they were gonna do and I like their service. When I called to submit a claim, they worked on it right away. Remember, policies are intended to help with unexpected breakdowns of the most costly components. Maintenance and wear and tear items, like batteries, cables, tires are not covered. That keeps the policy cost low and available to you for those unexpected repairs. You can see the need to replace these items and plan for that. You never see a breakdown coming.

Some components are not covered and for a very good reason. If we covered every single component of your vehicle, the cost of the policy could easily be three or four times what you are paying for it. Most people would be unable to afford such coverage. We cover the components that are most likely to break down and for the most part are the costliest to repair, as your experience proves.

They wouldn't use the part the dealer had because it was too expensive. But when the part finally arrived after two days, it was broken. So, they had to send another part which came after another two days. It took a long time, about a week, to get our car fixed. It would've taken the dealer just two days to fix the car since they had the part on hand. Anyway, after the repair, everything's working with the car. I've had two repairs and they both cost over $1000, so I had to fill out a form to give them permission to charge my credit card, and then fax it to them. That was a bit of a hassle because I had to be near a printer, fill out the form, and print it out. I only saved the minimum in both cases.

Protect My Car was the only company that sent me something in the mail when I purchased my vehicle, and I got an auto warranty from them. I've filed a claim with them over the phone. The claims reps were all right. But I didn't appreciate one thing. According to my policy and our agreement when I signed up for the program, the repair cost was supposed to be paid for half-half or 50/50, but I ended up paying more than they did.

We were originally given one quote and told that the repair cost was going to be $2000. But when they had finished doing everything, the repair cost ended up being $1600, lower than the initial quote they gave. Since they wanted me to pay my half upfront, I had already paid $1000. So, something did not come out right. It was not half-half. I ended up paying $1000 and they only paid $600. I didn't appreciate that. I felt like I didn't get what I was supposed to get.

I did try to fight to have my extra $400 or $300 reimbursed. But I was told some crap like "We negotiated with the auto mechanic to lower the price," so basically I'm paying for them to negotiate for lower prices. But other than that, they did honor and pay for my three day car rental. I did get reimbursed for that. But I didn't benefit from the oil changes and the tire rotation. Nevertheless, I'd recommend Protect My Car because they did help me.

I had a previous extended warranty, but when I tried to use it, they tried to tell me that the issues that my car had were pre-existing so they wouldn't cover my car. The whole reason why I purchased from them was to cover anything I didn’t know my car had. I lost about $600, but I got ProtectMyCar shortly after that. I've had good experiences with them so far. I used them recently to do the motor mount in my car, and they covered it. All I paid was the deductible, which was amazing, but they should cover a little bit more. They don’t cover as much as the other coverage I had. I was a little disappointed because the information that they send doesn’t tell me what components are covered. I find out when I go to the dealer. I'm not super happy, but I'm satisfied with what I have because they saved me a big chunk of change that I would've had to pay out of pocket up front versus the payment I make with them monthly.

I personally haven’t had a bad experience with ProtectMyCar and they paid every time I had some repair work. However, I used their rental car benefit and I had a two-day loan that was $60. I’m still waiting to receive my $60 refund since it’s been about six weeks and I don’t know why that’s taking so long. Before, I did receive a $90 refund for three days but it took a month or so to get it. Still, I’d recommend them and I'm happy with them. They did a good job. Actually, they gave me an extended warranty when the dealers wouldn't give me one. They helped me out when nobody else would.

They answered when I called them for their 24/7 roadside assistance but nobody called back to follow up. It was bad. I had to call in and got somebody the next day but they still didn’t do what they were supposed to do. I just did my own thing and called a tow truck company, and they got the car out.

Claim submission was an easy process. The workshop where I take my car submits the claim for me. I dropped my car, transferred the money to Solace and everything was settled. I had transmission repair service for two times in the last two years. Then one time when I forgot my key in the car and the car was locked, Solace was able to assist me and sent a key company. The guy was here within a few minutes. My overall experience was very good and when I need Solace, they're always there to help me. The payment for the service is low and I was given a good deal to start with. Everything is okay with them.

Once I heard the benefits and offerings from ProtectMyCar, it seemed like a decent value. There’s been a couple of times where submitting a claim took a while since they have to fax in the estimate and sometimes it’s taken two or three follow-up faxes to get information back. But usually it’s been a reasonable turnaround time. Overall, it’s worked out okay even though there’s been a couple of times when not everything that I had hoped would be covered was covered, but I understand there’s limitations in the contract. I’ve saved some money, but I’m also paying a monthly fee to keep the service. I don’t know in the long run if it’s gonna make a difference.

I was doing some research online looking for a company to do an extended warranty on. I was speaking to a gentleman over the phone and he gave me some details about the extended warranty that I felt comfortable with. Filing a claim has been fairly easy. ProtectMyCar told me to take the vehicle to the dealership and give the dealership their contact information.

My only experience is them not willing to pay for certain things that I had the understanding that they would pay for. On top of that, the rental car fee is somewhere around $36 a day, and most rental, I can't even get an economy car for that much in New York State, or a subcompact. Being a family person, the vehicle that I have insured with them is my 2005 Tahoe, which is a large vehicle. I've carried my family around in it all the time and if I need something that's comparable to 2005 Tahoe, I can't get it, I'll have to pay an astronomical amount of money for something to be at least somewhat close to my 2005 Tahoe.

We understand that you would have preferred higher coverage on the rental and we regret that the policy limits were less than what you may have preferred. The maximum rental benefit of $210 is usually sufficient. We believe people prefer a lower policy cost and providing a higher rental car benefit would result in a higher premiums.

These guys lie a lot because when they offered me their insurance, they said they're gonna pay for everything. No matter what happened to my car, I will just pay a $100 deductible. But when I submitted a claim, they made too many excuses and they refused to pay, then eventually paid just half of my claim. They said, "No. You were supposed to do this. You were supposed to do that." I won't take any car insurance again because all the time they say one thing and when I have the problems, it's another story again.

I bought their insurance because the car doesn't have too many miles and the car was okay. When I submitted a claim, it had 55,000 miles on it. They told me "Oh, we're gonna take care of it. Oh, call tomorrow. Oh, call later today or let me see what I can do." Things like that. They find excuses. The week before I filed the claim, I took the car to the dealer and they said everything was fine. But after a while, I started having problems with the electronic sensor. When I took it to the dealer again, they said the transmission sensor costs $1,500 and it needs to be replaced. I said, "Okay. No problem. I have insurance."

So, I send it to the dealer and tell them to it. Then when I put the claim, ProtectMyCar started making big arguments, like "Because you don't change the oil at 39,000 miles." The days went on and I said, "I did the oil change. I took the car for an inspection before I bought it and everything was fine. And when you called me, I tell you everything and you say "Yeah, that's fine. No problem. We'll take care of it." I sent them all of the information they needed yet they still refused to pay me. I gave the dealer the go signal to fix the car even though ProtectMyCar doesn't want any of it because I have to fix it anyway.

I told them "You know what? If you don't wanna pay, it's fine. I don't wanna fight anymore." One guy said, "No, let me see what can I do for you and I'll call you back." I don't know what he did but finally, after a month of fighting with them, they said they were gonna give me money. However, they sent me a little more than $900, which was half of the cost. It was better than nothing, but I told them I'm going to cancel the insurance because if I have another problem it's gonna be the same. If I pay every month, it's about what they're gonna spend if I have a claim because I pay for the oil change, brakes, tune-ups, everything that I expect I'm gonna take care of. I don't recommend ProtectMyCar to anybody.

I was searching online, made a few phone calls, and ProtectMyCar offered me a better deal as far as making payments. I had an actuator go bad, which wouldn't open the tailgate, so I called about it and I said that it probably should be covered. Just need to know for sure if it's the problem. I had to take the car to Mercedes and have them look it over, and they said it was the problem. But they also found another issue in the engine area with a leaking power steering pump. So they said they would call ProtectMyCar and deal with it.

Mercedes came back and said ProtectMyCar will cover the power steering pump but not the hoses, and they're not going to cover the solenoid or the actuator for the rear hatch. I got a little upset, so I called ProtectMyCar and explained to them all the actuators are covered on the car. I got a different person who said "That was a new guy. He didn't understand the terminology of what the dealership was telling him. Yes, that is covered." So the problem ended up being covered so the only thing that wasn't covered were the hoses for the power steering pump. Everything is fixed and I had to pay the $100 deductible and then the difference as far as them not covering hoses, which they should have covered because that's part of changing the power steering pump.

I actually started with ProtectMyCar when they were still known as Precision, then they changed to Solace, and now they are known as ProtectMyCar. It has been a pretty smooth experience from them for the most part. The only issue that I seem to run into is they insist on sending their own parts to the dealer, which is a delay for the customer.

When I took my car to the Nissan dealership, they did not provide a rental car. ProtectMyCar covered it and it ate up my warranty pretty fast that way. I think I had a $10,000 limit. I burned through that between the actual work done and the rental car time at $30 a day. Because then I had to wait like three more days or whatever for the part to get there. They sent the part, but it was damaged when it got there. Then they went to backorder, so it took quite a while. That part is kind of inconvenient for the customer.

Well, I worked it out with them anyway and I've reached out for the new policy. Their customer service seems to be pretty decent. The dealership didn't have a lot of issues with the communication with them. But their price could always be better. It's not super, super cheap. You don't have it like your loan that you can normally borrow like you would when you bought your car.

When I asked the agent over the phone what was covered and what wasn’t, he was pretty vague. But I still purchased the plan and I’m hoping that none of those not covered would end up going wrong with my car because I’m going to have to pay out of pocket, which if I had known, I wouldn’t have purchased the warranty. I’m satisfied with the plan because it’s covered my car for the two repairs that I’ve needed but if I end up having one or two more repairs before I sell the car, the plan would probably break even. Now, it’s cost me more to have bought the plan than the repairs to my car but if I have a problem again, then it will probably be worth it.

Policies are intended to cover the components most likely to fail and are, for the most part, the most expensive to repair. When you consider the price of the coverage compared to the cost of repairs, it is easy to see how cost effective this coverage really is.

I've had ProtectMyCar auto warranty for five years. I drive a 2005 BMW X3 and the myriad of BMW dealers have always worked very well together with them to resolve all of the car repair issues. They've replaced the air conditioning, the crankcase, and the ball bearings when I submitted claims for these. BMWs are notorious for windows going out, and every window on the sunroof has gone out, and they fixed that, too. They've fixed a whole bunch of hoses and fans. My car is 11 years old and, for me, this warranty has been worth the money that I pay for it. Every time that I've taken my car in, the repairs would cost from $3,000 to $4,000, and I've only paid my $100 deductible.

However, there are only a couple of things that they wouldn't cover and these weren't that big of a deal. They wouldn't fix my side mirror and the radio. The CD works, but it's just that the CD gets really hot. They also wouldn't fix my side window. The window was kind of foggy. But they say that's just a defect with the car because of the car's age, and that's not anything that they can fix.

Whenever I have claims, the BMW dealership files these for me with ProtectMyCar. I haven't ever had to use the 24/7 road assistance or rental car benefits because BMW always just gives me a car. Sometimes, ProtectMyCar has my car for a really long time because it's low on their priority to fix. But I'm driving around in a brand new BMW, so I don't care. I would hesitate to take my car to a different BMW dealer, so it's as much the dealer as it is the car protection services. But I really liked the way that ProtectMyCar worked with the dealer. Find yourself a reputable dealer, a dealer who will work with ProtectMyCar, and then you'll have a good pairing.

The first claim I submitted to ProtectMyCar got very difficult. Firstly, the gentleman I spoke with was very rude. He said he was gonna throw me out of the insurance because I asked him a truthful question and he didn't want to explain much to me back. Then when the test on the car was done, I was told that something was already broken before so only half of the job was done. The mechanic that did the work didn't change something that needed to be changed. It is causing problems right now and I'm just fed up.

I was supposed to take it to another mechanic guy but then, I took it to another repair place that specializes in Mercedes-Benz as I was having some problem with electrical overall, and did some work on it. From there, I'm gonna have to pay for it and as soon as I get some money, I'm gonna take it back to the other mechanic guy and he worked with the insurance. ProtectMyCar did the job the last time, but right now, I'm gonna take back the car to the shop, and take the booklet, and ask someone to look at it and see what they're responsible for to fix the car for me.

It had my account and I just have to make sure the funds are there.

In the beginning, I didn't really know how to make my ProtectMyCar policy work since when my car had broken down, there was a misunderstanding on who pays who first. I was at the Honda dealer where I always took the car. My car had an overheating and the guys at Honda told me it was my thermostat, so they ended up changing it. However, the car kept on overheating. They said they can't fix it so they have to send it to a Land Rover dealer. The bill was almost $2,000. ProtectMyCar made a deal with the Land Rover dealer in which the Honda dealer was supposed to take care of for me. Then ProtectMyCar started calling me, saying they need $1,500 from me since it's the deal they made with Land Rover. I told them I don't have that cash or check with me then and I thought that Honda was gonna take care of the bill since they made a mistake about what the car's issue was.

I called Honda and they told us that they'll write a check for the bill. Next thing I know, Land Rover was calling me saying that they still have not received a check. They were kinda mad since the car has been sitting there for a week and I had one of their loaners. They thought upon calling ProtectMyCar that I was going to pay ProtectMyCar the $1,500 then they will, in turn, pay the Land Rover dealer. I thought it really sucks if it will happen to me all the time. I ended up paying Land Rover directly using a credit card and within a couple of hours, Land Rover called us to say that ProtectMyCar paid them and my car is ready. Hence it was a big misunderstanding but it got taken care of. When I've done oil changes however, I email one of the guys from ProtectMyCar with all my receipts and within a week or two, I get a check back. It's working out. It was just a little hiccup in the beginning, but I've recommended this warranty to some buddies of mine.

I've been having issues with ProtectMyCar. I had my transmission go out and they replaced it. Then I had the same issue after two months, so I took my car back to the auto shop. They went through it and found that it was the same problem that I had with the other transmission, and they said it can either be replaced or repaired. The auto shop guys told me that the transmission that ProtectMyCar gave us had a 12 month manufacturer's warranty. I said, "Okay. So it shouldn't be any problem then." But they said that ProtectMyCar don't want to honor replacing the transmission again.

My car was at the shop for several days. They said that they'll get my car apart and if ProtectMyCar denies my claim, it's going to be on me. So, I said, "No. I'm not gonna leave my car up here in pieces." They said, "Yeah, we can't have it on our list in pieces. You're gonna have to get it repaired or put it back together. We'll charge for the evaluation, the diagnostics. We'll put it in the parking lot." I had my car towed back to my house. The auto warranty service says they're going to send an inspector out to inspect the car.

So, right now, the car's been sitting in my house. I'm trying to save a bit of money, just in case, when I take my car back to the auto shop, because once they get that car in that lift and get it torn apart, and the inspector says that they're not going to honor the warranty on my transmission, then I'm going to have to come up with money to pay for my transmission and be able to at least get my car fixed somehow.

This shouldn't have been an issue if the auto shop said that the transmission that ProtectMyCar gave was bad because it only lasted about six months and it had a 12 month manufacturer's warranty. I don't understand why it's such a hard process of going to get the warranty honored from where they bought it from and get me another transmission in my car so I can have it up and running. They're making it a big deal now. I was going to buy warranty from them for another car that I have, until this happened. Now, I'm not going to do that because of the issue I'm having with them. I got a transmission with a warranty that they won't honor, and it's not even their warranty, but that of the manufacturer of the transmission. So, I don't see why that's an issue or why it's even a concern to them.

ProtectMyCar offered me a flexible payment plan so I went with them. On a small claim, it was no problem. But then I had a bigger claim and they tried to deny my claim for kinda of a bogus reason. It started with one representative and once they put it in for approval, they claim that a separate company takes the claim and another one approves and pays the claim. When it was put in to the other company, they denied it. The claim was about $3,000 and I had a feeling that was gonna happen so I researched with them, fought them on it, provided them evidence of exactly what went wrong, and after I had to pay more than my deductible, they then agreed to pay the claim. I’m not too happy about it, but it was better than paying the full amount.

It took almost two weeks for ProtectMyCar to repair the vehicle after I filed the claim. Initially, I contacted them and told them what I've got. The vehicle went to the dealer and the dealer diagnosed it. I knew what was wrong before the vehicle got to the dealer but we've got to wait three days for a claim guy to come down and confirm it. Then ProtectMyCar has to find the component, ship it to the dealer, and in the meantime I'm without a vehicle.

The vehicle had a transmission problem and it had to be replaced. The mechanic at the dealership said the oil coolant had metal filings in it and it need to be replaced and the extended warranty didn't cover that. It was a bad deal because if they didn't replace the oil coolant, then it will ruin the brand new transmission. It cost me $300 for the oil coolant out of my own pocket and I thought ProtectMyCar should take care of that because I'm paying them $100 a month. Also, two weeks was way, way too long. I run a vanpool with my vehicle, so every day it doesn't run, it cost me money.

I talked to ProtectMyCar and liked what they were saying so I went with them. The people that I worked with were nice and the original technician who started off the process was very helpful. However, I didn't like that there were so many days to go through the process that I ended up having to pay quite a bit out-of-pocket for a rental car. I also didn't get a full understanding of that when the insurance was sold to me. They only reimbursed part of it.

The dealer where I took my car to was slow in contacting ProtectMyCar. It seemed like nothing was really being done to expedite it for me. It was down there a week before I even got any word on whether something was gonna be done with my car. It took them three weeks to put a transmission in my vehicle. But then, the dealer was saying ProtectMyCar wasn't gonna do one thing. Then I had to call the technicians myself before I was able to get a resolution.

Another issue is that the original technician was saying one thing and then another technician that wasn't him or a supervisor was saying something else. I'm gonna try to follow up with the Bureau of Automotive Repair on the dealer. I feel like I did all the legwork on trying to get my car repaired. I did not think that I was buying into an insurance where I had to keep calling ProtectMyCar to make sure the dealer called and to make sure my insurance company got in contact with the dealer.

The original technician from the dealership said that in my contract, the issue is covered and the most I have to pay out-of-pocket is the $100 deductible but the guy from ProtectMyCar said it was not covered. The original technician had to call and tell ProtectMyCar that everything is supposed to be done. Had it not been for the dealership and one of the technicians, I would've paid $600 or more to get my car. One would get screwed around by ProtectMyCar if he/she doesn't have a warranty through them.

The dealership told them that it was bad, and they refused to pay for it. I can't understand why they didn't and I'm still upset about that. Covered repairs are approved based on the estimate supplied by the shop. With respect to your repair, the shop repaired the engine mounts that had failed. The policy paid over $1,830 on that repair. Although the shop did notice that a rear motor mount may need replacement at some point, it was not part of the work the shop performed. ProtectMyCar sells this really expensive plan but it doesn't cover anything that goes wrong with the car. I already bought an extended warranty for my car when I first got it which covers the drivetrain. ProtectMyCar said their warranty will cover so much more but it really doesn't. The ignition coils of my car went bad so my convertible top got stuck in my trunk. At first, ProtectMyCar said it was covered since it's an electrical issue. But since it was a sensor that went bad, they said it's not covered but rather consumable. They did replace the water pump, which was cool, but that's it.

I was looking for extended warranty plans and researched online, and the companies seemed almost the same to me, however, I saw that ProtectMyCar had a listing of the dealerships in my area that would take it, so I went with them. I’m very happy with ProtectMyCar. They’ve been great. I was having a problem with the car, and the people at Firestone found another problem with the rack and pinion steering, and ProtectMyCar paid to have that fixed along with the other problem. They covered everything I’ve taken the car in for.

The El Paso BMW dealership had shown me a lot of different warranty providers and I looked for the ones that I wanted. ProtectMyCar seemed to cover more so I picked them. When filing a claim, I call in and tell them what the problem is. They check and see if it's covered by my warranty and they'll tell me if I can get a rental car and they'll drop it off at the nearest BMW dealer or where I wanted to get my car fixed. All in all, my experience with them has been great.

And since their price was good, I signed up with them. When my Ford Explorer's transmission went, and considering the book value of my truck and what the transmission cost, they still paid $2,500 of a $3,400 bill. I used their rental cars when my truck was in the shop and that went really great. They’re easy to deal with and my payment comes directly out of my checking so I don’t have to worry about it.I like that when something goes wrong with my car, they’re there.

Everybody at ProtectMyCar was very cordial. Nobody had an attitude and they were very much helpful. I didn’t always like the answers to my questions, but everybody’s very much polite about it. In the end, it worked out. I have all my payments set up automatically with them. At first, submitting a claim with them was smooth, but there were a few bumps on the road. They said the value of the car was less than what the repairs were. They would only cover the repair up to the value of the car, and the value they put on the car was a lot lower than what the car was valued at. I didn’t appreciate that.

Also, I had to keep calling the repair people back to get the guys to come out to approve the work. I was happy that everything got done, but it took a lot of effort and prodding to get it done. It was not so much on my part because the repair people did all the work, which I was grateful for. When the repairmen need an approval in doing a certain thing, they would have to call ProtectMyCar who will then say that they would call them back, but they would never get back to them. They had to call ProtectMyCar five times before they could get somebody to come out and approve the next step of the repair. Other than that, my stuff got done, so I’m satisfied.

ProtectMyCar is not the best policy and I am not very happy with it. It seems like every time I need them, something is not covered. There are some things that aren't covered that I thought should be covered. There have been three times that they turned me down for things that really needed to be repaired. Right now, I'm riding around with windows that cannot go up and down and they will not cover it, because they don't cover electrical. I usually go directly to the dealer, and the dealer told me I should have never gotten a warranty from them. So for that reason, I stopped with them.

I also wasn't thrilled with the payment arrangements. I wanted to pay twice a month and bi-weekly with my pay, but ProtectMyCar was not capable of doing that. For some reason, they took double payments randomly, so I had to go off of automated payments and I told them to send me an invoice which I don't pay. But they are not gonna take automatic payments anymore because they can't seem to handle that.

But I had one major expense that ProtectMyCar was able to cover, which saved me a bundle. I didn't use the rental car coverage, but it's been very good. They were only gonna cover it for X amount of days and I called them back and I said they were gonna have my car for this long. They increased the days for the amount of time that they have my car, and I was pleased with that.

I'm not impressed with ProtectMyCar. We got some things taken care of but I'm very, very dissatisfied. I had my warranty for about a year and a half and my first claim was for my gas tank and at that time I didn’t know if it was covered but they covered that. Fast forward about three months later, my transmission went out on my way home from work. I knew that that should be covered. With the holidays, weekend etc., I had my car towed to the dealership on January 3rd the next week. They told me it would be a couple of days before they could get to it because they were bombarded with cars during holiday weekend.

On January 5th, two days after I had the car towed there, the dealership rep called me and said that he called ProtectMyCar and had trouble getting the car fixed. And I went from January 5th until January 12th before there was any type of correspondence back from the warranty company and that was just for first contact. I've already been in a rental car for eight days, and the warranty company only paid for a maximum of seven days. So I'm already out of money. There was a lot of miscommunication between the dealership and ProtectMyCar to the point where I actually had to call them myself to find out exactly what it was that they want. We went another five to six days before the warranty company got the information.

And then ProtectMyCar finally sent a representative out to check my car to verify everything that the dealership said happened. I got my car back on January 26th and when I picked up my car, one of the other repairs that they did on my car put my car back in the shop for another covered repair by the warranty. They messed up my throttle body when they installed a new one because I paid out of pocket for that. So I ended up taking my car back two days later. I got my car back on February 23rd. There were long communications between ProtectMyCar and the dealership to the point where I ended up paying for a rental car with the combined repairs which meant I was out of about $600. I am very unsatisfied.

I was in the market for an extended warranty so I looked into a couple of people here. It appealed to me that the CEO of ProtectMyCar is a veteran just like I am. We talked about some other things because I had so many questions and he said most of the right things so I went with them. But filing a claim to them was not as smooth as I would have liked it to be. I had the warranty on two cars and have since sold one. But I still have the warranty on the one I kept.

I serviced my vehicle and gave the service advisor ProtectMyCar's number and the policy number. I was told to contact ProtectMyCar for a pre-approval, was informed of what was covered and what's not, and I would decide whether or not I was going to go with it. However, there were some things that I thought were covered that were not. Although I did quite a bit of work for my Murano and a lot of it was covered. There was still some factory warranty on some things so it wasn't exorbitant. I did get my money's worth over time.

The last thing I had done was the radiator when it had a leak. Out of nowhere, my fluid drained 'cause there was a crack in the seal of the radiator. I took it to the dealership and they contacted ProtectMyCar and they said it was covered but they were not going to pay for the radiator and were going to send one instead. That was worth a few extra days and they had to provide me a rental for that. I didn't have too much of a problem with it because I was hoping that since they were still covering the part, they were going to send me something that was comparable to what the dealership provided. One thing I didn't expect is that if it's covered and the dealer is gonna put it in, then ProtectMyCar will reimburse them. But my service rep let me know that they came to an agreement and ProtectMyCar called me to follow up with something.

If ProtectMyCar decides not to cover a claim, they call me and try to explain why. So I'm 100% satisfied. In fact, on my previous claim, I got the car to the dealership and I didn't have to think about anything. It was covered and I got a rental. I went about by my business, they fixed it and nobody was calling to verify and all this other stuff.

When the gentleman from ProtectMyCar first called me, he told me that the warranty covers breakdown, routine maintenance, oil changes, and rental cars. They are good at paying for oil changes and tire rotations, and I appreciate that it's easy, so it helps me out. However, they came up with a lot of rules that weren't there when I originally bought the warranty. I really don't feel that it's worth the money I pay. There are a lot of stuff that wasn't covered, and they come up with reasons. I ended up needing a transmission, and they covered nothing on it. They keep saying they are waiting for the old mechanic to send that stuff and they never get it. Also, I'm not getting my car rentals paid for most of the time. ProtectMyCar doesn't send the money back and they are not paying enough of it anyway. When we have hail damage here, car rentals are about $86 to $101. Normally, it is at $60 to $70. And then, they only go for three days.

In addition, they have a couple of plans and what they do is drop a customer down to the lower plan and say they don't do any of that when the person bought the higher level plan. According to what I was told, any maintenance that might cause a breakdown will be paid for. I have to find someone to fix it, and then, it would pay for it because it was a breakdown. For instance, when my car was stalling and we got it running again after three hours and got it in for repairs, all they can think of is I needed my spark plugs changed. They paid a very small portion so I ended up paying something, and I had lifetime spark plugs, which should have been fine. In that sense, I'm really paying most of it.

They need to make some changes because they aren't paying out very well. My car was in the shop all the time, so it is in good shape and I wasn't expecting the transmission to go out. Then, I had a brand new radiator and somebody bust it up, so I had to pay for that. All in all, the car was in really good shape when I purchased it, so they should have made a fair amount of money on it. I just talked to the mechanic again who said my car is in a very good shape and to just drive it. They rotated the tires and found something wrong, which I got fixed. There's no point buying a new car when I have to spend money like this.

In the long run, at a four-year contract, ProtectMyCar will make money for oil changes and rotation only and I'm not minding that, but the warranty didn't work the way I was told it would work. The amount they paid was so small that it almost isn't worth it because of the time consumed going back and forth with them to try to get the mechanic paid, and it usually takes a long time for them to get paid. Also, I expect it to pay more to help me out because that's what I paid for. I wished it would have been a little better than the rental cars. They aren't even bothered to pay for an item, and they don't bother calling or telling me. It's really ridiculous.

It is not worth $30 a month. They are nitpicking me too much and I would appreciate less nitpicking. Another complaint I have is that they pay all of the charges, and I have to give them my credit card for them to charge it. They should just pay their part, and then, I would just pay the rest with my credit card at the shop. I asked the mechanic if I should cancel it, and so far, he said I should keep it. I'm not sure if I can even cancel it. It isn't the way it was represented when I purchased it. There is nothing that is the same.

I heard about ProtectMyCar.com from the dealer I got my truck from. I started off with Tricor, who wasn't doing what they’re supposed to, and the truck dealer said he had another warranty for me. However, ProtectMyCar went outside their word. They explained that once the mechanic did diagnosis, they will fix my truck. It didn’t happen like that. My truck slept almost a whole month. I was without a vehicle and they did not care. When I got the diagnosis from one of their guys, I told them, "What am I supposed to do, just walk to work and there’s snow on the ground?" Since the service department knew that I was getting frustrated, they said they know I have to get to work, and they have an old pick-up truck that I can drive. But there wasn't any rental they're supposed to have. Instead, I took my truck to a truck rental place that fixed it and let me use one of their vehicles.

I also called them about for an issue with oil leak. They told me to take it back over the different shop where work was done and maybe it was leaking from there. But what that other shop fixed is not the problem why there’s an oil leak. Basically, ProtectMyCar doesn’t want to fix anything. They just want to collect my money every month.

A couple parts of my experience with Protect My Car is good and a couple is bad. I have some things on my car that were supposed to be covered in the program, like the clock, and they said that they didn't cover it and that I misread it, when it was clearly on my template. They covered some other stuff, but I ended up having to pay a few thousand dollars out of my pocket for stuff that I felt should've been taken care of. That's probably one of my bigger concerns because if it's going to be covered and it says it's going to be covered, then it should be. If I'm going to be paying for all this out of my pocket, then I don't need to be paying Protect My Car.

Another one is that they were charging me for an invoice, and I was surprised about that. One the managers said, "Well, maybe in the future we'll do you a favor by staying with us." I thought that was a weird statement. The warranty isn't exactly what they say when they sell it to you over the phone. Some of the things were covered, but it was such a battle. And you shouldn't want to battle when you’re by a situation. You have to look up stuff on the internet and show it to the rep who's supposed to be knowledgeable. Then finally they approve it after they've told me that it was declined. That's not cool.

I was inquiring about extended coverage for car insurance. I didn't really shop around as I was pressed for time since my car is getting older and I needed to get something. I had to submit a claim back in May and I had a little bit of difficulty with getting Protect My Car to cover some things. The claim was for a transmission issue and I had to show proof that I had prior maintenance on the car before they would even approve a claim to get it fixed. Then I ran into an issue with getting rental reimbursement. So it's not the best coverage because I know that if I had more time, I probably could've found something better. Even the car dealership person said he has dealt with others and they weren't this bad. But the representatives I interacted with took their time and were pretty compassionate about my issue. They also gave me feedback on what else I needed to do.

I was totally disappointed in the claim that I submitted because I thought I had warranty protection against damage or wear or tear. But when I filed a claim with ProtectMyCar, they told me I didn’t have warranty protection. What I was paying for was discounted parts. My discussion with the claims representatives didn't go well because they told me, “Read your contract.” Well, "read your contract" and what they said on the phone are two different things. I’m not gonna read 10 pages of contract when the rep explained to me on the phone that ProtectMyCar does not pick up my warranty from where it left off. I'm expecting a warranty discount, but it turned out to be just a discount on some parts. I’m still paying the same labor cost that the dealership is charging. ProtectMyCar just saved me some money on the parts that they put in my car, which may or may not be manufacturer parts. They could be rebuilt parts.

I used their road service once because my truck broke down. So I called them and the tow truck came. Thank God I was within the 20-mile distance radius that they had. I didn’t have to pay extra for the towing. They towed me to a dealership and then they discounted me on the parts. But I had an issue when they refused to pay simply because I didn’t contact them prior to towing. I had towing through my insurance and also had one through them. I forgot that I had their protection. So I called my regular insurance towing, had my vehicle towed, and then once I got to the shop and they told me how much it was gonna cost, my wife reminded me that I had signed up for some type of warranty. And when I called ProtectMyCar, they said, “Oh, no. we can’t pay for it because you should have told us before.”

I filed a claim once and I was a little angry because when I put the paperwork in with the Volkswagen place and Protect My Car's estimator went down there and checked out the work they were gonna do, they refused to do some of it. The Volkswagen dealership called them and let them know what exactly needed to be done. Volkswagen said Protect My Car was okaying for a certain portion of the maintenance work they had to do, instead of doing the whole job at one time.

When I got the car back, it wasn't fixed right. I had to pay $100 deductible for that and another $100 when Protect My Car had to bring the car back in and have the rest of the work done, which I shouldn't have to pay if they would have let Volkswagen do the job that was recommended. At the time, I was having problems since I just had surgery so I didn't want to get on a phone and get into an argument.

It was also a hassle in the beginning to pay the warranty because Protect My Car wanted to deduct it off my credit card and I had a bad experience with that. So for over a month, I was trying to get these people to send me a bill in the mail so I could mail my payment on time. Finally, after about three or four months, they started sending me and now it's a regular thing. I immediately just write out the check and send it off to them. I haven't had a problem since. They were at least pretty good when it came to covering the work on the car.

ProtectMyCar was the only one I saw at the time that I was looking for an auto warranty provider. Whenever I submit a claim, they've been okay and their process was not difficult at all. All I do is have the paperwork in, step right in and the mechanic will submit his paperwork in and it’s a done deal. I do my claims over the phone and whatever their reps say they'd do, they just go and do it and get back with me, and I get back with them. There’s been some difficulty sometimes in making payments but I was able to do it. So far, everything’s been okay.

I got my car without any extended warranty. ProtectMyCar had called before and their guy was a good salesman and he made some sense. So, I decided I'd go ahead and get their warranty. I've been with them since two years ago. I've used the warranty two or three times and every time that I have a claim, they would always relate to the handbook. At one time, I thought my claim was covered but they told me it wasn't. The other two or three times were good though. I did have to watch the mechanics to make sure they are legit on what they say is the problem. They told me I needed some pretty expensive magnifying system for the engine. What I did instead was to swap and paid $400 for it myself. Other than that, I really had no major setback with them so far.

I've had them for a couple of years and I didn't find that they paid out very much. I had a pretty expensive part that had to be replaced that's why I bought the program because I knew that the catalytic converter is going to be coming up at some point in time and I could only get it from the dealer. I put Protect My Car on the phone with the Mazda dealership and they were the ones that haggled it out. But in the final analysis, when Protect My Car called me, they told me that the warranty could only cover a certain portion, which was not very much. They only gave a little bit of a discount. So, my experience was not great.

The dealership was always waiting for information from ProtectMyCar, which, in turn, made me spend twice as much as what they allow for the rental. I got reimbursed for $210 but I’m still out $300 and that irritated me because I was hurting for that money. I paid ProtectMyCar for two years, and then my shock got broken. When I took my car to the dealer, they said my shocks is not good and that ProtectMyCar should cover it because it says "everything" in the book. So, I paid for the shocks, and now ProtectMyCar is saying that it's not covered and they won't pay me. So, I tried to cancel, and the lady advised me to stay because I would need it later and that she'd give me a one-year oil change free, so I said okay.

Later, when my air-condition was not good, they paid me for it, so was very happy. But when there was another issue wherein they're supposed to pay me, they didn't. And then, one day, I called them for tow service because it is free, and they sent a guy with a broken truck. My car was down, so I needed a tow with a bed to put my car up, but these guys didn't bring a bed. They just pulled it up and scratched my car. I called ProtectMyCar but they never responded to me. The guy with the truck told me that I have to pay $100 for the tow otherwise, they'll take my car back. My car is a Mercedes and it’s still scratched now and ProtectMyCar did nothing. My husband said to cancel it but I needed something because the Mercedes is very expensive and that’s why I have the ProtectMyCar. However, they have a lot of problems, and I don't like it.

My mechanic wasn’t always very happy. He took care of everything but the last time I had some work done, ProtectMyCar was blaming him that he had done something to the car. They weren't going to cover the gasket on the electronic part that he had pulled out of the transmission, and it cost me $2,000. It was a Cadillac and I knew things were expensive to fix. It only had less than 100,000 miles on it. I sold the car and I told the person that bought the car about the warranty and she said "No" straight up. She's in the car business and she said ProtectMyCar doesn't cover anything and it's not worth it. I broke even on the warranty, but it didn’t save me anything from that big transmission gasket that needed to be replaced. So far I'm pleased with ProtectMyCar. My co-worker said it was pretty reputable. I've had three claims in since I've had it. The first time, I called and the claims person that handled the claim knew what to do from there. They walked me through the process on how it works. They were really nice and gave me a lot of information. Also, making payments isn't hard. If I don't have the money in my account, I call them up and they'll work with me and pull the money out the date I say I have it available. I've had a good experience with that.

It took a while to get the claim taken care of the last time I had a claim. It was hard to detect what the problem was from the dealership. It took a while for them to get the part in and then dealership wanted them to pay the higher price but they caught it. There was a battle that they had with the dealership. But it worked in their favor because they said it's too high of a price versus the market price. So I love that. I had a rental car and got reimbursed because my car was in the shop for repair.

My motor went but they didn't want to agree to any shop hours that was more than $60 an hr but they tell you that you can take your car anywhere you like.

Almost all dealers shop quotes are $130 minimum labor rate per hr. Then they say they can save you up to 25% on your bill but that's only for jobs that's under $300 so what's the point of have a $2500 extended warranty? They are crooks so I beg you to save your $. They have changed their name 2 times since I have been with them and if you break down or need a tow you will have to pay the company upfront and they will reimburse you but you will never get your $ back because their fax machines never work or receive faxes unless it's to confirm a payment.

My experience submitting a claim to ProtectMyCar was unsatisfactory. I had a sensor that has gone bad and it was one of those that needed taking in for because it was messing up my anti-lock brake system. For some reason, the system would cause the wheels to skid like it was sliding on ice and all I was doing was slowing down at a stop sign in like 70-degree heat on a sunny day. So, it was actually pretty bad, unsafe driving conditions and it was all just this one sensor. I was told it was the anti-lock sensor.

So, I get into the Chevy garage and told them I had the extended warranty. They contacted ProtectMyCar and they told them they couldn't do that claim on that warranty because it was electrical which I didn't see anywhere. It didn't say sensors weren't covered. The guy tried to explain to me on the phone. And while they were in there, they said my upper ball joints were getting a little play in them and something else up in the front end. And the guy from the warranty company called me back and said that they would do the work. And I said it wasn't necessary, that it was just a maintenance thing. They said in a year or two, they might need to replace those upper ball joints. But the problem is that the brakes are locking up in the middle of highways, and the sensor needs replacement. But he said they wouldn't do it.

So, I talked to the mechanic and he said, "If you can afford to pay for it then they'll do that work while we're in here. We'll do that work and have the warranty company pay for that. You could at least get it all done at one time." I said, "Yeah. But I had to pay out-of-pocket for a sensor that went bad not because of me. It just was a bad sensor that I thought the warranty company would cover." They covered their work that they talked about doing but the parts that they wanted to cover in that claim required a front-end alignment because they were taking basically the whole front wheel assemblies off the truck and put new upper A-arms and upper ball joints and all that up on the front end.

And there's a law that once that was done on a vehicle, it has to be aligned when it's put back together. But the warranty company wouldn't pay for an alignment, yet, they were forcing work or they were paying for work that will require an alignment. So, they had to add the alignment fee on top of my fee that I had to pay out-of-pocket.

This is why I have been meaning to cancel ProtectMyCar. I've just been so busy with family things and travel. I was gonna cancel my warranty as soon as possible because I could just save the $64 and some odd cents that I'm putting into that extended warranty payment and put it in a savings account, and when I needed to use it, I would've had the money to use it instead of giving over $1,000 to a warranty company that didn't do the work. So, I just didn't really see it pay off, even though the auto-payment makes the payment process pretty easy.

To have them not pitch that line that they do on the first phone call was borderline harassing. I got calls every week by eight different warranty companies and that name that the guy repeated was one I'd heard before. So, I went ahead and listened to his spiel and it was bumper-to-bumper coverage is what he called it. I had asked him explain it and he said it was bumper-to-bumper coverage. And I talked to them on the phone for a half hour to 45 minutes, giving them my information and I told them I still wasn't sure because $65 seemed like an awful lot for an extended warranty. But he assured me for bumper-to-bumper coverage and that it'd be worth it when my truck gets higher mileage.

I wasn't trying to use it but when my truck sensors blew out and was causing me to wheel walk in the middle of a hi-way doing 55, I just wanted that problem fixed but they wouldn't. So, I have no clue what they meant by bumper-to-bumper coverage because it was literally like a maintenance issue with a sensor. So, I felt really misled on the phone call on buying the warranty. That's why I'm not recommending them to anyone. I've done the opposite. I work for an engineering firm and pretty much 90% of the people have full-size pick-ups and I couldn't in good conscience recommend ProtectMyCar 'cause I say it's not bumper-to-bumper.

However, I didn't like the information about what's covered and what's not. Sometimes, the wait is a little too long in submitting a claim, but overall it's okay. The last time I filed a claim was around six months ago, and it was good. The only problem was, I had to get a manager involved because they didn't want to submit the payment right away, so there was a little bit of calling back and forth, but not too bad. I called to know how long it would take, but they started giving me the runaround. So then, the manager at the dealership talked to the manager at the claims center for me.

ProtectMyCar took care of the part of my Mercedes wherein I got a discount and I didn't have to pay a lot out of my pocket. They dealt with the person at the Mercedes dealership, the dealership gave the claim information, ProtectMyCar told them how much it will cost, and then the dealership took it from there. I had a little problem with my Jag before that did not work out too good and they didn't take care of that situation the way they did with my Mercedes. They told me one thing but turned out it was something else with the policy for my Jag and that's where the problem came in. Nevertheless, I was satisfied with what they did with my Mercedes.

ProtectMyCar was convenient price-wise and I really like the attitude when I talk to their reps. It was also easy to submit claims for my wheel sensor and fuel rail. They were very friendly and quick. They were also very knowledgeable about what was going on. I like everything about my experience with them.

ProtectMyCar has been all right so far. They pretty much stick to what they say. However, when I submitted the first claim, I had to jump thru a bunch of hoops. I thought that they'll cover the bearings for the wheel but then they said they don't cover those which didn't make sense to me even though it's in writing. Also, if I wasn't internet savvy, it would have been very challenging. I had to have people fax them my last place that I got an oil change from and they also wanted my vehicle history. It was a little annoying but I got it taken care of and I was fortunate to get it done the first time. But after I got through those hoops, I was pretty much okay.

ProtectMyCar happened to call right before my warranty expired. The payments were very reasonable, and making it was very simple. The first time for claim submission was very good, but the second time was denied but it was due to wear and tear of parts. But, the explanation provided after the fact was fairly decent. When the car went in for the first issue where my starter was repaired, it was seamless - a very positive experience on that. My extended warranty from ProtectMyCar served its purpose.
