I have had to deal with ProtectMyCar once and it wasn't the best. We got the paperwork but there was no communication from the representative from Precision who we were dealing with at that time. We took the vehicle to the dealership for them to do a diagnostic test because we didn't know what was wrong with it. The dealership was like our lawyer defending us against the representative. He won't talk to us if we had any questions and never returns our call. Another gentleman who answered the phone was more helpful than him. We were only able to communicate with him through the dealership personnel. It was tough and it was extremely inconvenient, we weren't comfortable with the whole situation.

The issue was resolved and we got our vehicle back a week later. Majority of that timeframe was waiting for Precision to make a decision if they were going to cover our claim, which is what we got the warranty for. I understand if we beat the car up but we didn't. It's for family driving back and forth, from A to B. I wasn't happy at all with the whole representation from them and I would not recommend them.

Thank you for providing your comments on your policy. We appreciate that very much. We are disappointed that you feel the claims process was an inconvenience to you. The fact is that within three months of taking the policy out we paid over $3,100 to get your vehicle repaired. That was after you had only paid in a little over $300 in premiums. Not a bad deal by any means and we were glad to have assisted you that much.
We hope that on reflection you will see how important the coverage has already been to you and that a small delay in getting the repair done was well worth the savings.

Thanks again for your comments. Please let us know if you have any questions.

I want to cancel my warranty with ProtectMyCar. When they sold it to me, they explained that I would be able to do a free oil change and free alignment with my car. I needed an alignment so I took my car to the shop. Service rep said something has to be wrong with my car, it has to have a certain amount of damage for me to get an alignment. When I bought the warranty, sales rep didn't explain it like that. I don't know what else he might've said that might not have been true. I have to wait to find out if he told me the wrong things.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments. It is unfortunate that you feel the policy was of limited benefit to you. A review of the policy shows that you took out the Ambassador Premium policy in March 2015 and that we processed your claim for an oil change for over $100. We are sorry that you feel the benefits were not as much as you expected. The policy does include three free oil changes and two tire rotations per year, but does not include front end alignment, nor does it cover repairs from damage to your vehicle that would otherwise be covered by your automobile insurance. We regret that you did not fully understand the benefits described in the policy you received in March. We will be in touch with you directly to assist you.

Thank you again for providing your comments.

ProtectMyCar was more affordable compared to others and they covered everything except oil change. The car dealership submitted a claim on our behalf. They were pretty quick so, it wasn't a bad experience. They needed the description of work that needs to be done. The only thing that I don't like is they want it itemized. If I needed all things in bulk changed or two things done at the same time, they don't like that. They want to see to it it's different invoices for everything.

Thank you very much for your comments. We appreciate that very much.
We also appreciate the fact that you have been a policy holder since August of last year.
We do ask for itemized invoices for work performed on our customer's vehicles. We have been providing this service for customers for a long time and we know from experience that an itemized invoice makes sure that all required parts are accounted for and that the repair was done right the first time. There would be nothing worse than having to make a trip back to the shop after a few days or a week to get the repair re-done correctly. We take pride in exercising good judgment by doing the right thing, not just doing things right.
We hope this helps you understand how we protect your best interests when you need repair work done. We look forward to helping you again when you need us.

I maintain my car but it had about a hundred and forty seven to forty eight thousand miles on it. The chance of something needing to be replaced is possible in the next seventy five thousand miles, so I decided to give ProtectMyCar a try. One time, the dealership submitted a claim to them. I understand that they kind of have to be a little hard nosed and I'm sure they get a lot of people that try to have pre-existing issues taken care of. But after the dealership dealt with them and told them that they see my car every three thousand miles because I do a lot of driving, the company was rather surprised that the auto had been that maintained. So after they received that it wasn't a problem.

Initially, ProtectMyCar wanted a significant amount of money upfront, and then I started monthly payments. But after talking to them, I only had to put a hundred dollars down and my payments are around seventy eight dollars a month, which I thought was reasonable. Adding to that, their staff was really friendly on the phone, which is always a plus. They weren't pushy, and I don't like people that try to push me into something because that really makes me crazy. They've been good to me.

In our opinion, being professional means giving each policy holder the respect and attention they deserve and working through difficult repairs until they are completed correctly.

I have had this extended warranty for two years and the name's changed. It wasn't ProtectMyCar then, it was Solace. In fact, it might have been something before that. I chose them because they had the best going rate out there where I'm paying forty five dollars a month. I was gonna go with Ford extended warranty but they wanted sixty or seventy. Payments have always been done over the phone so it's pretty easy. I'm retired so I get paid on the last of the month, so all I do at the beginning of the month is I call up ProtectMyCar and just make the payment using a credit card.

I remember the first time I used the extended warranty, my mechanic dealt with them and I wasn't even involved. He told me that everything is covered. All the work had to be done and all I had to do is pay a hundred dollars to the mechanic and he collected off the company. That was about thirteen hundred dollars worth of work, so that's a good experience.

Also, I almost had to use their road services. I was stuck in a cemetery around 11 o'clock on a Sunday night because I was walking my dog, and the car just blinked twice, shut off and died. I needed a tow truck but when I called in, I don't think the person knew what she was doing. I ended up getting a friend to come out and we were able to get the car jump and I was able to get it home. It was a tough night, so that wasn't a good experience. I haven't used their road services after that.

When you get a warranty, you like to feel at ease that if anything happens to the car, you'll be able to pay for it. The bad part about not just ProtectMyCar but a lot of extended warranties, is that there's a lot of things that they don't cover. I don't mind paying ten dollars more a month if they would cover a few more things. They cover the trans, the engine stuff, the big things but there's a lot of stuff that they don't cover that are really expensive. That's when it hits you because you think you're bringing it in and everything's gonna be fine. The mechanic tells you, "You need to get this or get that." And then you tell him "Okay", you get in the car and then he comes back like a day later after and tells you that it's not covered and that it will be fifteen hundred dollars.

Thank you for providing your comments on the policy with Protect My Car. Com. Thank you, too, for being a policy holder since April, 2014. We appreciate that very much.
We regret the problem you had with the 24 hour emergency service. Had you chosen to use the service you would have found it a lot more convenient that you would believe. We really are here to help you when you need it.

You have no doubt reviewed the policy and have seen that the policy lists each and every covered component. We make it very clear what components are covered and which are not. The reason for this is simple. We want you to know right up front and in writing exactly what is covered with no hidden or confusing terms. Some components are not covered and for a very good reason. If we covered every single component of your vehicle, the cost of the policy could easily be three or four times what you are paying for it. Most people would be unable to afford such coverage. We cover the components that are most likely to break down and for the most part are the most costly to repair. As comprehensive as the policy is, it is far more likely that future repairs will be required. When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage. Again, thank you for your comments.

I received a call from someone from ProtectMyCar. I chose them because from what the person explained to me is it sounded like a good deal. I paid about three times the amount higher than what they all worked out on repairs with my truck. I guess it's the comfort of knowing that if it's something bad that I need done is covered, it's there.

The only thing I've ever done that was really claim was my shifter linkage went bad. The dealer said that they couldn't get Precision to make a decision on it. And so, I ended up without a truck for a week. And then the same problem recurred within two or three months of the first time and it was the identical problem. So I put the truck back to the dealer and I told them, "My warranty company's not paying for this and I'm not paying for this." I said, "This is the exact same thing y'all fixed the last time." I said, "Y'all need to figure out what or who did something wrong, correct it." And then they kept the truck for another week. But the second claim was there and nothing was claimed on but I told them, "I'm not paying for this." I said, "Because this, the truck is 10 years old and this only occurred one time in ten years. And then all of a sudden it occurs twice within three months.

I said, "Somebody did something wrong." So, they agreed and they said that, "Yeah, either the technician didn't put the part on that he was supposed to or he put it on and it came off and it caused the second problem." I said, "I'm not asking my warranty company to cover it twice. They aren't gonna pay for it." So, they ate the cost of it. I looked in my little book and the linkage is covered under my extended warranty. I told them, "According to my information it should be covered." I don't know what's going on but it got fixed and it didn't cost me but my hundred dollar deductible. I'm happy with ProtectMyCar.

ProtectMyCar called me to try to get me to get a warranty on the car that I purchased a couple of years ago, and it all sounded good on the phone. But it has been nothing. I've never had them actually cover a claim that I've ever tried to submit to them. They've never covered anything. My dealership makes the claims. When I take my car in to get worked on, the dealership calls them and they try to get the authorization. Every time they call me back, they say it's not covered. So usually, I end up paying a lot more than what I should because I was told when I got this that it was a hundred percent bumper-to-bumper warranty. I'm probably gonna be dropping the coverage.

Thank you for providing your comments. We were very disappointed that your feel the policy has not been of help to you.
A review of your claims shows that you had filed a claim in January for a repair to intake door actuator which is a non-covered component under your policy. The next repair in April to your U-joints was covered and we paid out on that repair $185.00. You had only your deductible of $100.
Remember, James, this policy will help you out for 5 years or an additional 100,000 miles. That's a lot of time and miles.

The purpose of the policy is to pay the cost of covered repairs less the deductible. No policy, no matter who issues it, will cover 100% of a vehicle. As your vehicle ages and more miles are added it will be more and more likely that future repairs will be required. As comprehensive as the policy is, it is far more likely that future repairs will also be to covered components. When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage. Again, thank you for your comments.

The repair you referred to that was not covered was not actually to your muffler but to the catalytic converter. That is one of the few components not covered by the policy. That is true no mater who issues the policy.
The purpose of the policy is to pay the cost of covered repairs less the deductible. No policy, no matter who issues it, will cover 100% of a vehicle. My service guy calls me back and let me know what’s covered, what’s not, and those type of things. But so far, so good. The service has been good.

Every time I call the company, everyone has been absolutely knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, kind, and informative. Making payments wasn't difficult at all. It made it very convenient for them to debit the account. I don't know what other options there were available in reference to doing it but that was one way that they presented it to me. Thank you for your comments on the policy with Protect My Car,Com. We appreciate your comments. We were surprised that you feel the claims process was inconvenient for you.
You took out the policy in March and two months later filed a claim for transmission work on May 20. The work was completed within a week and we paid almost $1,160 of the total repair cost of $1,300. That was almost three times what you had invested in the policy at that time. Not a bad deal by any means. We were glad to have been able to help you with that repair.
It would seem from your comments that you were not happy with the questions claims asked of you and your mechanic about the prior maintenance done on your vehicle. We hope you do not feel you were in any way singled out in asking about the maintenance on your vehicle. Your transmission had been rebuilt by that shop in 2011. It is both responsible and professional to make these inquiries and is as much for your protection as it is to determine the complete scope of the repair and claim. There have been times when customers have paid mechanics and repair shops for maintenance services that were not performed completely or not at all. This is in no way a comment on the repairs shop you use but is standard practice to insure that our customer’s best interests are looked after. Now that the complete record is in our file, we will not have to ask about those records again.
As your vehicle ages and more miles are added it will be more likely that future repairs will be required. When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage.

My experience with ProtectMyCar has been good and I chose them because the deal that they’re presenting is good. It was pretty easy to submit a claim and usually, the auto trade does it so it's an easy process. I've had positive interactions with the representative and they've been very helpful. Making payments for the extended auto warranty was also easy, but I have yet to use ProtectMyCar's road assistance, rent-a-car benefits or maintenance perks.

I've been having problems trying to pay ProtectMyCar because I haven't worked since the first of July. So, I called my extended warranty people and they worked out some help for me to be able to get it reduced somewhat. And my bill won't be so high because all I'm drawn is social security. But so far, I like my company and what they've done. They also helped me when I had some problems with my car a few months ago in the early part of the summer and had to get a transmission put in it. I went to the Ford dealership because I have a Ford. I told them I had extended warranty and they had to call and verify it. Then, they approved everything and there's no deductible. So it was very worth the money to have the extra help.

I've had two instances where I've had claims and one wasn't covered. And I don't understand why it wasn't as well as I don't think they really explained it to me well. The first experience was not a very pleasant one because it was sort of cold and basically saying, "Oh, we're not gonna cover it." I think when you sell me something it should always be about customer services as I'm calling in and I really don't think this one was. And then for the second, I wasn't sure if it would be covered but they covered it. I called and got the initial and then the Ford motor company Lakeview Ford dealer took care of it. So I had no issues with the second one as we're given a reference number to pass on to the dealer. Anyway, making payments for purchasing the auto warranty was easy because I have it coming out automatically.

Thank you for the comments you posted on the coverage with Protect my Car.Com. We appreciate that very much. We understand from your comments that you had some questions about why the one repair was not covered.
The purpose of the policy is to pay the cost of covered repairs less the deductible. No policy, no matter who issues it, will cover 100% of a vehicle. As your vehicle ages and more miles are added it will be more likely that future repairs will be required. As you have seen, we did cover the second repair to your vehicle and we are glad we were able to help you with that repair. As comprehensive as the policy is, it is far more likely that future repairs will be to covered components. When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage.

Again, thank you for your comments.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments. We appreciate that very much. We are very pleased to have helped you with the recent repair. We know it took a while to get the repair completed. For that delay we apologize. The reason it took a while is the extensive nature of the repair. We wanted to take the extra steps to make sure the repair was diagnosed and completed correctly. We did pay out almost $4,000 in repair costs, which is more than five times your policy cost to date. Not a bad deal by any means.
The claim you filed was based on problems with the cylinder heads, cam shaft and head gasket, to name a few. We have been helping customers for over a decade and we know from experience that vehicle repairs are often misdiagnosed or not diagnosed completely. In order to get a proper diagnosis of the problems we hired at our expense a specialist to take a look at the automobile and give us an independent diagnosis. As we are sure you will agree, fixing only a part of the problem, or the wrong problem, could cost you a lot of lost time and trouble. It was well worth spending this time to make sure the repair was done right the first time. Nothing would be worse than having to go back to the shop in a day or two to have repairs done all over again.
Some of your repairs had to do with gaskets and seals. These are wear and tear items and not covered under the policy. We are sure you have reviewed the policy and know that we make it very clear which components are covered and which are not. Our policies are intended to help customer with mechanical breakdowns, which are almost always unexpected and very costly. Maintenance of a vehicle is something you can schedule and plan for financially. To keep the policy cost down and provided help for the unexpected breakdowns, vehicle breakdown policies do not cover the cost of maintenance and wear and tear items. Adding these services to a policy would make the monthly cost of the policy too expensive for most people, especially for those on a budget.

I've had two claims with ProtectMyCar that didn't get covered because of whatever reason. First was a problem with sparkplugs because they blew up, which I'm told doesn’t normally happen. Other claim was for the ignition lock. They would not cover it so I had to come out of pocket over $3000 for motor dues. They only cover certain things. I need my door fixed and all the electrical in the car but they are saying they are not covering it. I pay $60 a month and it’d definitely be better if they could expand some of the coverage that they're offering. I've never used the road side assistance or rental car benefits because they don't cover any of that unless they actually are with parts. I have road side assistance and free towing with my insurance company but no benefits like these for this extended warranty company. It's very limited.

A review of the repairs to your vehicle shows that we paid out over $1,460 for repairs and other benefits. And I bring my car to the mechanic and they told me, "Okay, we got to pay 25%." And I said, "Okay." Then I said, "I fixed it." They said, "Oh, no. We're not gonna pay anything because you already fixed it." I said, "Okay."

But when I called it before they said, "Okay, pay them and we pay you." Every time when I talk with represent, everyone tell me different stories. They're not paying anything. Everything they promise is not true. Everything is lie. Whenever I try to call them they're not answering the phone. Sometimes they answer. Sometimes they told me, "Okay, hold on one second." And they told me, "Somebody's take the lead on in few minutes." And they never answer the phone. I want to make sure to cancel because I don't want to hear anything about that no more.

Thank you for the comments you wrote concerning your policy. Comments such as yours help us know the areas we can improve upon. We regret that you do not feel the policy has done enough for you.
First of all, thank you for being a policy holder since February of this year. A review of the repairs to your vehicle shows that you had an oil change done on June 18 that we were happy to pay for. Then on June 23 you had repairs done to your power steering and cv axels that we paid out for. All together we paid out more than $320 and we are very glad the policy helped you out with those costs. That was more than twice the policy premiums you had paid in to that time. That is a great deal and that is what the policy is all about, getting you help with costly repairs when you need the help.
The repair you put in a claim for in October was for your water pump and broken lug nuts. We could not, unfortunately, help you with that repair since you not only authorized the work but completed the repair and paid for it before you filed a claim. As we told you at the time you got the policy and as the policy says, you need to make sure you call us and make sure you get the repair estimate to us before you authorize the shop to do the work. The claim process did very well for you in June and could have helped just as much for this latest repair if you had let us help you before you got the repair done and paid the shop for it directly.
Our Ambassador series of policies was created specifically for vehicle owners whose vehicles do not qualify for standard extended breakdown coverage, either because of excessive age or miles, or because of pre-existing conditions, such as yours. The Ambassador family of policies is less expensive than a standard extended warranty and therefore appeals to those on a limited budget.
Ambassador policies provide a wide variety of important benefits including free oil changes and free tire rotations. The policy also provides a significant reduction in repair costs, a guaranteed minimum of 25%, and often up to 45% of the original estimate of repair costs. The policies come with towing, 24/7 roadside assistance and rental car reimbursement benefits. All of this is provided at a monthly cost of less than half what most extended warranty policies cost.

We hope this has helped your understanding of how much this policy helps you. If you have any questions, though, please call us.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments. Thank you as well for being a policy holder since May of last year. We very much appreciate that. We are very glad to have helped you on the repairs to your vehicle and regret that requesting maintenance records became an issue.
It would seem from your comments that you were not happy with the questions claims asked of you about the prior maintenance done on your vehicle. We hope you do not feel you were in any way singled out in asking about the maintenance on your vehicle. Submitting a claim was awful. Jim didn’t want to deal with their company any more because they sent new parts to them and had to wait. I didn’t like it because I had to get a car rental and on the car rental, they didn’t do what they were supposed to do. They told me to get a rental car and each time I called, it was good but then at the end of the day, they only reimbursed me $200 out of a $400 ticket for the rental period. They tell you one thing and then they never sent the money. I never got the rental reimbursement and I called and spoke with the manager. I waited and waited, and then he said that my file was closed and they no longer cover my vehicle even though it's supposed to be covered up to 204 miles and my vehicle isn't even at 204 miles.”

They won't cover it because I used the insurance. I've been paying for it but my door lock stopped working and my transmission was plastic so it split. And I didn’t know what was going on with that and they only sent two for the actuator for my vehicle. Jim said there was three of them. When I called and asked them for my money, they said they don't cover it anymore. I never got a letter or anything. It was an awful experience.

There was no problem in paying the warranty itself but the process of making the payments wasn’t made easy because they received the payment and they'd call me and tell me they haven't received it. When I call they would say they'd check and then hang up. They never come back to tell me anything and they were telling me it's due to the transition from moving from Precision so Solace and now they're moving Solace to something else called ProtectMyCar now. We appreciate your providing your comments on the experience you had with the coverage. We hope this response will help you understand how much the policy actually helped you.
A careful review of the repairs you had done shows that we approved the claims for the repairs timely, ordered the parts and were eventually able to deliver them to get installed.
The problem that you experienced was due to the original shop that you took the car to. They did not provide very good service for you and were never available to us, even after multiple phone calls. We quite agree with your decision to have the car towed to another shop to have the work done.
Contrary to what you wrote, we did not close your policy. We let you know that the claim was closed because you had towed the car from the original shop. We asked that you have the second shop open a new claim. They did that and we issued payments timely for the repairs. In all, we spent over $1,700 in giving you the help you need.
Had you let us know that you were renting a car we would have made that process easier for you as well. We reimbursed you the full amount of rental benefits, sending you a check and then wiring the funds to you when you let us know you had not received the check.
We hope this helps you understand how much the policy has helped you. If you have any questions, though, please call us.

Thank you very much for your comments. we appreciate that very much. You are right to point out that we try very hard to make sure the coverage is affordable. Most people on a budget do not have the luxury to save money for car repairs and need a lot of help when their vehicle breaks down. With the cost of repairs, let alone towing and car rentals, it just makes sense to get some protection before a break down occurs.
In addition, we provide towing, 24/7 roadside assistance and car rental benefits on all policies.
As your vehicle ages and more miles are added it will be more likely that future repairs will be required. As comprehensive as the policy is, it is far more likely that future repairs will be to covered components. When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage.

I've had a couple claims since we've been with ProtectMyCar about a little over two years now. They take care of what they do cover. But they're a little misleading on selling you the product. For instance, my wife's got a 05 Excursion which had super low miles and we wanted the best warranty possible. The gentleman that sold me the package told me that it covered basically everything about cosmetics, every component in the vehicle and I had a couple things in the overhead display that went out.

When I took it in for some mechanical repair, I told them to fix everything but they called me back and said that the not-needed components such as the trip display, fuel economy display and compass, were not covered, but if it was a window regulator or wiring harness, ProtectMyCar would cover it. I was a little upset because I could have went down and save $20 with the lower package, but being what it was, we had about $2,000 worth of repair work which ProtectMyCar paid.

I was getting a lot of calls from companies regarding an extended auto warranty so I decided to do some online research and find one on my own. I got an extended auto warranty from ProtectMyCar because of the salesperson whom I initially talked to. He was a very pleasant person, seemed very knowledgeable, and sold me on the services that they offered. It was seemingly easy to make payments for purchasing my extended auto warranty. I've never used ProtectMyCar's 24/7 road assistance and rental car benefits because these are still covered in my car's manufacturer's warranty.

However, it's very challenging to file claims with them. Extended warranties are a tricky business, but I pay. My extended warranty costs $8,000 or $9,000 because of the kind of car I have, which is a $90,000 top-of-the-line BMW. But they don't want to pay for anything. So why do I still do business with them? It's only that I haven't gotten around to canceling my warranty with them. To summarize, my experience with them is false advertisement. They're definitely kidding me. I have to get downright in business to get my claims processed and it's not a pleasant experience. I should've gone through my dealer. They had an extended warranty program directly through BMW, and if I could do it all over again, I will go through them. It was only about $1500 more.

My car still has problems right now because they won't fulfill the last claim that I tried to file with them, so I had to come out and pay for it myself. They're telling me they don't cover terrible boosters but when I go on their website, it says they cover terrible boosters for their platinum plan. They tell me,. "Well, you don't have the platinum plan. You have the top-of-the-line plan that we had last year when you purchased it." Now, they have a new top-of-the-line plan, which is a little cheaper, and for some reason it covers more than my plan.

They also wanted to put used parts in my $90,000 car to save money. So for instance, I have a BMW and it has a mechanism to make the axles turn, called the transfer care. This is a $5,000 part because it's a BMW. They wanted to put a used part in my car that had 80,000 miles on it already that they got from a junkyard. And I was like, "Are you serious? I'm paying for this sort of service?" They've got too many games and they're very crafty. They're in this business, not for proper business, but to find ways to make money. It's been a bad experience and I would never recommend them. Although the sales people, the people that I initially talked to when I set up my account, were very pleasant, the people who actually do the claims and repairs were not pleasant at all.

The transfer case you mentioned was priced at $3050 with the mark up by the dealer. The transfer case we would have ordered from a very reputable supplier had 7,000 miles (not 80k miles) on it and was priced at $ 1,250. As always we allowed you to decide which transfer case to use. you chose the dealers transfer case and agreed to pay the difference in the price.
We have paid out over $3,500 in repairs on your vehicle. rather than trying to be "crafty" as you put it, we do everything we can to help you even with non-covered components. We hope that on reflection you will agree the policy has helped you out a great deal.

I learned about ProtectMyCar through a phone call. They kind of worn me down. It got to the point where the salesperson made a deal that I thought was acceptable. Submitting a claim was pretty seamless. It was actually a lot better than I thought it would be. I figured it would be difficult but it went well. I had to go to the dealer because of the nature of the problem. Nobody else could ever diagnose it, not even the dealer. I spent my career doing diagnostics for equipment so I was familiar with the problem. I understood what they were dealing with and I could describe the symptoms when they occur probably better than most people. I gave them a detailed description of what was going on, and it had something to do with hot days and when I brake so hard. It was something I had to get fixed.

So I finally brought it to the dealer that was closest to my business. I left the truck until they could figure it out, and they did and they dealt with ProtectMyCar. The concern that they had with me since the Toyota dealer installed the manufacturer’s extended warranty was that they wouldn’t pay their labor rate, which is exorbitant. They pushed back on not wanting to pay it and that was the only thing they had to deliberate. I paid the deductible and the car was fixed. I was happy. All in all, they did everything that I hoped they would.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments. Thank you first and foremost for being a policy holder since February of this year. We appreciate that very much. We are sorry that you feel the policy did not benefit you as much as you expected.
Since February we have paid out over $2,200 in claims on your vehicle and we are very glad to have given you this help. We do regret that the repair took so long to complete.
The claim you filed was based on extensive damage to the engine, including cylinders, valves and pistons. . We have been helping customers for over a decade and we know from experience that vehicle repairs are often misdiagnosed. In order to get a proper diagnosis of the problems we hired at our expense a specialist to take a look at the automobile and give us an independent diagnosis. That is what took the majority of the time. As we are sure you will agree, fixing only a part of the problem, or the wrong problem, could cost you a lot of lost time and trouble. It was well worth spending this time to make sure the repair was done right the first time. Now that those issues are resolved we are sure you will find future repairs will go much more smoothly.
Although it does not compensate you entirely for the problems you had with the repairs, we were glad to extend two years free oil changes on you vehicle as well as a substantial discount on the cost of coverage.

Again, thank you for your comments. We hope that this explanation has been of benefit to you.

I’m not too happy with ProtectMyCar because there were some things that needed to be done and they didn’t handle them. Like, I had a transmission problem and they quit because the hose broke. They didn’t cover hoses because according to them, they’re supposed to be checked on a regular basis and I never heard of that. They said that was part of the regular maintenance. So I ended up paying out of my pocket the whole time the transmission was being rebuilt. That was one. Apart from that, because I was told that it was my transmission and I believed that I was being covered, I rented a car that they were supposed to pay for, but I ended up paying for it too. They covered one thing that was small, they said out of courtesy, because they weren’t able to do anything about what went wrong with my car. I don’t like it but I stay with it because I have the option to get my money back if I come for it before it’s over.

But at this rate, I would not recommend it to anybody. I don’t have any reason to. I had to pay for the tow, the work, the rental car, all these things promised to me, and that bothered me. Also, it took them so long to come back with an answer. I ended up having the rental car for a week, which was not even necessary if they had a better communication with the mechanic. I was not even informed of this communication. The mechanic told me that ProtectMyCar hasn’t gotten back to him yet but I thought that it was going to be okay once they have a conversation, but when they had one, it didn’t go very well. It was a total nightmare. The whole thing ended up costing about $2,000. But like I said, I’m just hanging in there because I know I could get my money back before it’s over. Though they might not make a go on that one, too.

Thank you for the comments you posted. We appreciate your doing so. We also appreciate the fact that you have been a policy holder since January of last year. We strive very hard to make sure our policy holders get great service and great peace of mind. We are sorry that you feel the policy has not helped you as much as you would have liked.
We have carefully reviewed the history of your claims and the benefits provided by the policy. The portion of the repairs that we were unable to pay related to repairs to components that are not covered by the policy and claims for repairs that were caused by failure to do proper maintenance on the transmission.
You have no doubt reviewed the policy and have seen that the policy lists each and every covered component. We make it very clear which of the components are covered and which are not. The reason for this is simple. We want you to know right up front and in writing exactly what is covered with no hidden or confusing terms. Some components are not covered and for a very good reason. If we covered every single component of your vehicle, the cost of the policy could easily be three or four times what you are paying for it.
Regular maintenance, such as oil changes, transmission fluid replacement, replacement of gaskets and similar items is required of all policy holders and is simply a good idea. Every manufacturer lists the minimum maintenance requirements for their automobiles and dealers and mechanics will almost certainly recommend proper maintenance practices for their customers.
Nevertheless, our claims department, recognizing that you have been a policy holder for a long period of time, still approved payment for repairs to some of the components not covered under the policy. We also discounted the cost of the policy over $700 to help you with your budget.

The purpose of the policy is to pay the cost of covered repairs less the deductible. No policy, no matter who issues it, will cover 100% of a vehicle. As your vehicle ages and more miles are added it will be more and more likely that future repairs will be required. As comprehensive as the policy is, it is far more likely that future repairs will be to covered components. I decided to go with ProtectMyCar.com because it works with my financial status. I’ve only used it once and I couldn’t be happier. The dealership did all the talking on the phone. I gave the number and they did what they had to do. I personally like how all the negotiating is being taken care of by somebody else. I don’t like having much time wasted. I shouldn't have to be chasing around for a claim to be taken care of.

Since I retired from the military, my income stream has dropped. I told them that I would have to cancel but ProtectMyCar worked it out where I could keep it and make sure it stayed within my budget. They’re very flexible at working with someone who is on a fixed budget. It’s a major plus for this type of business. I’ve recommended them to my friends. I told them what gets covered and that it’s not as bad as one would think of. An aftermarket extended warranty is always one of those things one has to really think about because, as a consumer, we don’t know what’s written in the fine print. But I’ve had nothing but good experience. I’ve told people if their car’s still in great condition and they want the warranty, it doesn’t hurt to keep it. It’s another form of insurance and it works well.

We had a good experience with the Camry but not with the Ford which lasted for at least two to three weeks until the dealer got the call back of the approval. At the end, they never got it covered. They fixed the air conditioning but the car was left in the same condition. My boyfriend had to wait weeks to have the car back. We've used the plan's rental car assistance for his car to go to the dealer.

We do regret that the repair to the truck's A/C took longer than anyone anticipated. The fault in the system was more extensive than the initial diagnosis disclosed. We hired, at our expense, a specialist to examine the system to make sure the right repair was done right. That is all part of not just doing the right thing, but doing things right. We purchased over a five-year period extended auto warranty with ProtectMyCar because we weren't able to connect with our previous warranty provider when the extended warranty we had was running out. We put down several hundred dollars and pay it monthly. Submitting a claim was much more challenging than the one that we had earlier through the dealership. Our mechanic has the dealership. The manager really does not like the new company because he says it's much more difficult to file a claim. He's got to fax in an estimate. They're just much more picky rather than the auto dealer/body shop/repair shop being able to just share with them the breakdown or clipping. And if I need to do something, I have to send in a lot more information. I think because it's not connected with GM.

Thank you for the comments you wrote concerning your policy. Comments such as yours help us know the areas we can improve upon. First and foremost, thank you for being such a loyal customer since September last year. We are glad to have helped you o the last two repairs to your vehicle. We do apologize if the repair time was longer than you thought it should be. There are very good reasons for getting the best information we can to assist you and while that can take longer it can be time well spent.
Most companies simply issue a payment without making sure through inspection and review that the customer’s vehicle was repaired properly and for the right repair. We have been helping customers for over a decade and we know from experience that vehicle repairs are often misdiagnosed.. As we are sure you will agree, fixing only a part of the problem, or the wrong problem, could cost you a lot of lost time and trouble. It was well worth spending this time to make sure the repair was done right the first time. No one wants to have to go back to the repair shop the same week to do it all over again.
It would seem from your comments that you were not happy with the questions claims asked of you and your mechanic about vehicle. We hope you do not feel you were in any way singled out in asking about the maintenance on your vehicle.

Thank you once again for your comments. We look forward to hearing from you if you have any questions or if we can be of any help.

Precision called me about ProtectMyCar. Submitting a claim is a difficult process. Last year the air condition went out. What they say and tell you is one thing, but when it comes down to paying the bill, it becomes another. They said all I had to do is pay the deductible which was $100. Then supposedly, they can put it under warranty, but I checked in the book and it showed that it wasn't under warranty. This year, I have another problem with the air condition. Then they went to the receiver dryer and the whole condenser itself froze up, so they couldn't open it up to change the receiver dryer. The receiver dryer was under warranty, it says in the book. The condenser was under warranty in the book. All of a sudden, that's not part of the coverage. The part about them taking the air condition Freon now and putting it back in, that's not under warranty or coverage, but its not in writing neither.

I had an extended warranty and it still cost me $600 to get the air condition fixed. What they tell you in the book, what it covers and what it doesn't, they have what they call their own process. If it breaks down, you're pretty much going to be on your own. They choose to pay or they don't or deny it. Its not what they say and if I had known that when I first signed up with them, I never would have because they tell you when they call you how great their plans are. After you get into them, there's a whole different story. Will I do business with them again after I experience it all? No. I am very dissatisfied.

Thank you for the comments you wrote concerning your policy. We regret that you do not feel the policy has done enough for you. First of all, thank you for being a policy holder for the last two years. We appreciate that very much.
A review of the repairs to your vehicle shows that you had a repair to your air conditioning in April, 2014 and again in June, 2015. In total we paid out over $2,000 for those repairs, including the compressor and dryer. We were happy to pay for those repairs to the full extent of the policy. You are correct that the fluids and Freon are not covered components.
The purpose of the policy is to pay the cost of covered repairs less the deductible. No policy, no matter who issues it, will cover 100% of a vehicle. As your vehicle ages and more miles are added it will be more likely that future repairs will be required. As comprehensive as the policy is, it is far more likely that future repairs will be to covered components. When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage.

Again, thank you for your comments.

The policy does give you great protection when an unexpected breakdown occurs. You really never see that coming and that is when you need help right away. Regular maintenance services or flat fee items (brake pads, tire replacement, fuel injector cleaning, ect…) are not covered since you can see those costs coming and can plan for them. This helps keep the cost of the policy affordable for folks on a budget and provides needed protection to policy holders when an unexpected break down occurs. After all, that is when you will need help the most.

Protect My Car called me on the telephone and told me, "You know, your warranty is out. You have no guarantee." Then they sent me some literature and told me that it would be $66 a month. Payment was difficult but I took a chance and went on. Sometimes they talk so fast. They don't give you time to ask questions about how this is going to work. I guess they figured that if you reach your insurance, then you'll find out. And I feel they're supposed to say, "Go through this thing before you purchase the insurance," which wasn't done for me. It might have been done for other people. So I said, "Well, I'll just continue to keep it."

The only fault that I find about this protection is that it only protects certain things. I can read all the stuff and still do not understand if my car gets out of line or have it rotated or have the antifreeze protection, clean out my brakes and things. I first have to call them then I go to the place that I would like to get it fixed. Then they have to get an okay from me all before they say, "We will do the job, and then you will pay that amount of money". There are things that I don't understand about the policy. When I find a place, I always go back to that same place to have anything else done. I only have used it once. I had to wait a day until they called and said, "Come back. It's okay for your car to be fixed". And then I had to pay a hundred dollar deductible.

I haven't tried the other benefits because I didn't know that I can use this for that. because I know I got to go up there and have them check my antifreeze, see if my car is out of line, if I need new rotors and so forth. When I call them and make an appointment for them to go over my car and see if everything is working, they give me a printout and say, "These are the things that need to be replaced. Then after that, they will call my warranty that I have and say, "These are the things that is wrong with the car. Now, are you going to pay for these to be done, plus he'd give us $100 deductible?" That's as much as I know about the warranty.

When you have warranty or guarantee and anything goes wrong, they will tell me, "Now, your insurance don't pay for this. You have to pay for it yourself." They stand behind until you bring it in to them to take care of. But this insurance that I have to me is okay. However it makes me want to go and buy a brand new car, then I know they'd go through it and there's warranty for so many years.

First of all, thank you for being a policy holder since September of last year. That really means a lot to us.
From your comments, it appears that you are uncertain what is covered and what is not. The policy protects you from the cost of breakdowns to covered components. You have no doubt reviewed the policy and have seen that the policy lists each and every covered component. We make it very clear what components are covered and which are not. The reason for this is simple. We want you to know right up front and in writing exactly what is covered with no hidden or confusing terms.

We cover the components that are most likely to break down and for the most part are the most costly to repair.
A breakdown is different from maintenance you do on your vehicle to keep it in good repair and operating. You know when maintenance is needed. Tires, batteries, oil changes, anti-freeze, brake pads and rotors and other such maintenance are things you can plan for and are not covered under the policy
Breakdowns, however, are almost always unexpected. Most people on a budget do not have the luxury to save for a big repair. That is why the policy makes such good sense. Whether the breakdown is to your engine, transmission, electronic components or even something as simple as your window not going up and down, a one call to us gets you towed in, and covered repairs are paid for right away with a corporate credit card so there is no delay in getting the shop paid. You can use any dealer or certified shop you choose. In short, in gives you good peace of mind knowing that you will have the help you need when your vehicle breaks down.

The purpose of the policy is to pay the cost of covered repairs less the deductible. No policy, no matter who issues it, will cover 100% of a vehicle. I submitted the bill to them shortly after, and they cut down what they offered me. In the beginning, Protect My Car didn't tell me that. They told me I'd have a warranty from front to back and if I have a problem, I can take a picture and send them the bill which I did. But when they got the bill, it took them about ten weeks before they sent me my money and they didn't give me all my money back. They cut me short with my taxes saying they don't pay taxes and took them out. I had to pay it and that came up to about $75 short of what I paid for the vehicle. Now they changed their name to something else which is different from when I started with them.

Thank you for the comments you wrote concerning your policy. First of all, thank you for being a policy holder since May, 2013. We appreciate that very much. The reason that it took a while to get the reimbursement to you on the repair you paid for yourself is simply that the fuel tank pressure sensor is not a covered component under the policy. The policy does list each and every covered component so you can see right up front what the policy covers.
However, we undertook a review of the claim because you have been a preferred customer for such a long time and this was your first claim. The final result was that we would extend coverage for you for this non-covered component and pay the claim any way. We are glad we were able to do that for you.
In the future, please have the shop call us right away to start a claim. That way you do not have to go out of pocket for the covered repair. The benefit of having the shop call in the claim is that we would have saved taxes (except in limited circumstances) and usually the shop fees of $29.95. In total, it would have saved you $56.91 on this repair.
We were very happy to get this result for you and we hope in the future you will not hesitate to call us first so we can make the process simpler and less expensive for you.

There was a lack of communication with the personnel who was taking the claim and you'd have to keep going back and forth with them. Instead of them calling you, you have to continue to call them to stay on top of it. There was a time where I was out of a vehicle for three weeks but they give you up to seven days on a rental. It is unfortunate that you feel the claims process was difficult. The claim you filed was based both on engine sensor problems and transmission problems. As you said in your comments and as we let customers know every day, you may take the vehicle to any certified shop you choose to have repairs done. And you are right to point out that most companies simply issue a payment without making sure through inspection and review that the customer’s vehicle was repaired properly and for the right repair. We, however, have been helping customer for over a decade and we know from experience that engine and transmission troubles are often misdiagnosed. In order to get a proper diagnosis of the problems the O2 sensor problem had to be corrected. It took the shop 7-8 days to get this much done. During this time we made multiple calls to you and the shop but we received little cooperation from the shop. The combination of problems you were having required this repair to determine exactly what was going on with your vehicle to make sure the right repair was done the first time.
We asked for a thorough diagnosis of the problem after the sensor problem was looked at but for some reason the shop you took it to was reluctant to take the steps to properly diagnose the transmission problem. They did not want to cooperate with the inspector and that is why we advised you to take the car to a shop a few miles away. It had nothing to do with the cost of the repair and everything to do with making sure the right repair was done.
After the car was towed to the second shop a proper diagnosis found no problem with the transmission but still found sensor problems that needed repair. It was at this point that you decided not to continue with the repairs to the car.
As a preferred customer, however, we do want to do what we can to help you with the cost of non-covered components. We have discounted your policy over $400. There will be no reduction in the coverage. Your next billing will show a substantial reduction in the monthly cost of your coverage. We want the policy to give you good peace of mind and for you know that we are willing to do what we can to help you.
We hope you understand that we take a great interest in making sure that the right repair is done to our customer’s vehicles. We are required to treat all policies the same for the protection of all policyholders. With your vehicles age and mileage repairs are going to be required, probably sooner than later, and we stand ready to protect you with this coverage.

Again, thank you for your comments and for being a valued long term policy holder. We hope that this explanation has been of benefit to you.

    Response from Protect My Car
Thank you for your comments and concerns. We hope this response will help you with those concerns.
First and foremost, thank you for being a policy holder since February of this year. We appreciate that fact very much. We strive very hard to make sure our policy holders get great service and great peace of mind. We are sorry that you feel the policy has not helped you as much as you would have liked. We have carefully reviewed the history of your policy over the last ten months. Over that period of time you had five claims, mostly to your transmission and suspension. We have saved you almost $1,900 that we paid out on the claims. That is far more than the total policy premiums you have paid in. We are very glad that the policy has worked so well for you.
The last claims you files were for repairs to the seals and fluid lines. Unfortunately, these components are not covered under the policy. Maintenance items, like seals, lines, tires, batteries and brake pads are not covered. You can see those repairs coming and can plan for them. You can not see a breakdown coming and that is why you need protection.
Having said that, we want to help you with the cost of those repairs in another way. You are very much a preferred customer and have been with us quite a while. We have credited your account with a $450 discount that will lower your monthly payments substantially. We appreciate you as a customer and feel it is only right to help you all we can. You will see that reduction on your next monthly billing.
When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage. Again, thank you for your comments.

Please call us if you have any questions or if we can help in any way.

The claim process is extremely difficult. I’ve, more or less, given up on it. Last winter, my heat failed. I went to the dealership to take care of the problem because local auto mechanics couldn’t figure it out. I had to dig through the documentation that they sent me to find the actual number I was supposed to give to the auto repair shop. I found the right number after I already paid for an initial repair. They had to work on this car four different times trying to track down the issue. In one of them, I flat out paid out of my pocket. I told ProtectmyCar about this and they asked me to send them a letter outlining what I went through including the copy of the invoice. I did that and I never heard back.

The next time I had to get the car looked at for the same problem, I gave them the number that I had tracked down and things worked pretty smoothly. The car company billed them directly and I don’t have to pay the deductible. Since then, they’ve had to look at the car two more times which they did at their expense because it was old same problem. They finally fixed it. To be fair, we’re back in about 500. I’ve tried twice to make a claim, and I got through once. I would definitely not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate your providing them and we are happy to respond.
First of all, thank you for being a policy holder since February of last year. We appreciate that very much.
Your first repair, in February, 2015, was to the right front hub bearing. we paid out $329 and you had to pay only the deductible of $100. We are very glad we were able to help you with that.
The second repair to your heater, that you referred to in your comments. was the following month, March, 2015. We received a request to reimburse you for repairs you had already approved, had completed and paid for of $1,384. Since you had previously filed a claim and knew the proper procedure to do so, it was very surprising that you would pay for the repair and then files a claim after the fact. As explained to you and as required in the policy, you have to file a claim before you authorize any work to be done. The reason is simple. In the case of this repair, it was clear that the cost of repairs was at least $260 higher than it should have been. They replaced your heater core when it appeared that the problem all along was only to the A/C control head. We do check to make sure that repairs are not mis-diagnosed, that repairs are being done and done right the first time. We can not do that if you agree to allow the unnecessary repair to be done and pay for it without first filing a claim.
We are sorry that you had a negative experience with this one repair.
Since these are the only two repairs you have made us aware of we do not know what other repairs you are referring to in your comments. Once again, we can not help you if you do not contact us and file a claim. We urge you to get help first and save yourself future aggravation.
As your vehicle ages and more miles are added it will be more likely that future repairs will be required. When that occurs and we help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage.

Again, thank you for your comments.

Submitting a claim with ProtectMyCar has been very difficult. Whenever I found out about the other companies being lower, I called them so I could cancel because I hadn't used the service at all at that point; but the gentleman said he was including three oil changes a year and two tire rotations. So the first time I used it was in May or June. I had a recall for my car and I took it to the Toyota shop so I called ProtectMyCar and they told me that all I had to do is pay and so they did my recall and the alternator. There might have been something else I had done that was called for regular maintenance that I paid myself. After that, I went to Jiffy Lube to get the first-rate oil change and tire rotation and I was told I was covered for three oil changes, but nothing about tire rotation. So I ended up paying the tire rotation because they were already doing it.

This week, I went to do another oil change and I did it at the Toyota Place and they said I was not covered. I spoke to three different people that same day. The last person I talked to told me that they would reimburse me if I had already paid for them then he informed me that back in May, they did not pay Jiffy Lube at all for that oil change. I don't know why they haven't contacted me to let me know they never got paid. So I'm not happy at all.

Thank you for the comments you wrote concerning your policy. Comments such as yours help us know the areas we can improve upon. We regret the confusion on the oil change benefits that were added to your coverage. That issue has been addressed and will not happen again.

Thank you as well for being a policy holder since January of last year. We appreciate that vey much. We apologize for the initial trouble you had with the oil change. Our policies have different levels of coverage that customers may choose from, depending on coverage desired and their own budget concerns. Your agent did provide you with three oil changes and two tire rotations. Those are additional benefits are not normally part of the coverage you have on your vehicle. Due to an error it was not properly reflected in your coverage. That was entirely our fault and for that we apologize. That error has been corrected and you will not have that issue come up again. Your policy does include the three oil changes and two tire rotations as well as the other benefits specified in the policy. Of course, you will still enjoy the lower premium rate for the coverage. We do help all we can to provide the best coverage at the lowest possible cost. Once again, though we apologize for the initial confusion we caused. If you have any questions, though, please call us.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments. Your comments were very surprising. You claim that you entered your credit card information on line and were billed $49.00 without your knowledge or approval. We do not know which company may have done that but it certainly was not PROTECT MY CAR. We do not accept any payments over the internet. All policies, including yours, are billed by credit or debit card only after each customer, including you, have provided permission to do so on three separate occasions during the sales call. All calls are recorded for the customer’s protection and ours.
We also note that you took advantage of the policy to file a claim the week you took out the policy. We were able to save you $175 on a $700 repair, which meets our guarantee of 25% savings of the estimated repair cost. We also spoke to you on multiple occasions about the repair. However, you did not have the money to pay the balance of the repair and chose instead not to proceed with the repair. That was certainly your choice and nothing obligates you to do otherwise.
Our Ambassador series of policies was created specifically for vehicle owners whose vehicles do not qualify for standard extended breakdown coverage, either because of excessive age or miles, or because of pre-existing conditions. The Ambassador family of policies is less expensive than a standard extended warranty and therefore appeal to those on a limited budget.
Ambassador policies provide a wide variety of important benefits including free oil changes, free tire rotations and a significant reduction in repair costs, minimum guaranteed 25% of the original estimate of repair costs. They also come with towing, 24/7 roadside assistance and rental car benefits.
If, In fact, some other company took advantage of you in an on line transaction, we urge you to get help right away from your financial institution.

I thought having ProtectMyCar.com as an auto warranty provider was awesome. When I had the claim, I told Mark, "Oh, this is easy. I'm just happy that I did this.". So I took it in, and it was easy except when they changed the water pump. When they changed it, the thermostat was part of the water pump. So now I have to pay for the thermostat. These guys didn't pick up the thermostat. That was an extra $100 something that I had to pay out of my pocket which bummed me out.

There was a belt on the water pump that needed to be changed because it was cracked. So I was fine with that. Everything was good but I had to pay for the coolant and the thermostat. So I was bummed about that because there was nothing I could do about the water pump. The water pump had to be changed. Because they changed the design of it, and the thermostat is part of it, I had to pay for something that really wasn't my fault.

Mark made it easy. They were really good about it. He said, "Man, I tried to get into the thermostat and the tool and everybody must not pay for that.". But they wouldn't do it. So I was gonna call these guys back and ask him about it because it seemed the right thing to do. He said, "No. Just the water pump. That's all. Period.". It was confusing for me because I have to pay for the coolant which is supposed to be free. Other than that, it was easy and I have a pleasant experience.

The claims process was a little bit easy but also difficult. There're one or two people that I had to go over their heads to speak to a supervisor about the claim. But overall I'm happy with ProtectMyCar.com.

    Original Review: Nov. 7, 2015

ProtectMyCar called and told me they had a good deal going on and asked if I’m interested. It sounded good but the funny thing is I’ve been with them for 8 months already. They first told me, “We protect your motor, we protect your transmission, we protect your fuel. As long as all your stuff is up to date, we protect all that. Anything electric we protect that, too.” So I said, “Okay, cool.” They also told me, “You maintain your car” and I said, “My car has always been well maintained.” Another thing is that I have 147k miles on my car and they said they'd cover 200k and something miles which is better than the car dealership that would only cover 175,000 miles. So I said, “Okay, I’ll go with you all” and added another car with them.

When I go to get my oil change and the gasoline, everything is okay. Then my alternator went. So I called. It was a Sunday and they’re not open. They said, “As long as you got the receipt and everything, we reimburse you.” Okay, cool. So I took it to Cadillac and had it diagnosed. They found out it was something with the fuel. I said, “Okay, I’m covered because it says anything with the fuel.” Cadillac called and told them about it. Then they called and told me, “We only cover certain components." That’s false advertisement. They should never tell that they cover the engine and transmission if it’s only certain components of it. That’s why I'm really pissed off at them.

They made the payments affordable for me, they pay for the oil change of the car and keeps the track record of my two vehicles in which I got a good policy with them. But I'm upset with them. Things sound good for a minute but then when they get down to the nitty gritty, they say “Oh, we just cover certain parts.” “How’d you cover certain parts? You didn’t tell me that.” “Oh, you should have read your warranty.” They need to tell the people the truth about their coverage. They take payments straight out of my bank account every time, no late payments. So if they could take my money every time, they should be able to simply tell me the truth that they don't cover this or that part.

Your file shows that you had an alternator repair that we covered and that you only had to pay the deductible. We were unable to cover the repairs to the vent valve, air level ride compressor and airbag sensor since these components are not covered under the policy. The other claim we were able to cover with no problems.
We do take responsibility for any miscommunication. Giving our policy holders good peace of mind is not just a saying with us. Toward that end we have discounted the cost of both policies $200 each, a total of $400 in discounts. You will see the discounted amount on the next billing statement. We hope this will help your disappointment over the non-covered repair.
We so feel the policy is quite clear on the coverage.
When that occurs and we are able to help you will be very glad you had the foresight to get this coverage.

Thank you once again for your comments. Please let us know if you have any questions or if there is any thing else we can do for you.

ProtectMyCar is great. I have got a few calls from a lot of different companies offering an extended warranty but I love it that I went with them. At first I thought it was a scam but I wanna try it. This summer my air conditioning went out in my car. I called them and it was a thousand dollars to get it fixed. So, it was wonderful that I only had to pay a hundred dollar deductible and they got it right over to them. It didn't even take a week. It was really, really fast. It was great. It was very easy submitting a claim through phone. I'm satisfied.

I don't remember who exactly who I spoke to. But he or she told me "That's okay. There are not so serious things are needed to do.", which we have the car dealer that I took the car and they fixed it, fax them over some papers. And I have to sign something, they fax them over and they cut them the check and I got my air conditioner fixed. It was like a real easy process. I was also able to take advantage of their 24/7 roadside assistance. Someone hit the back of my car and I used my regular car insurance. I didn't have to call them because I have rental coverage through my insurance, I didn't bother them again. But I'm pretty sure it would have been just as easy as before.

They wanted a tie rod and I didn't even have 20,000 miles on it. My bill went up to $800. Then a Solace man came and helped me. He said, "We'll pay this. And we'll go over and look at that." All too often we find repairs being quoted by repair shops that just are not necessary or completely wrong. We will not simply pay a claim without making sure that the right repair is being done and done correctly. That saves every one time and avoids repeat trips to the repair shop.

ProtectMyCar was in Florida, so I chose them. However, when I submitted a claim, I was on a personal level a little offended when I was accused that the problem existed prior to me placing the claim. They said I had cracked the valve cover. I've never heard of such. They said, "Oh, you must have had this issue prior and you just got the warranty to get this fixed." So I said, "No. This just happened. But this is what I purchased the warranty for." Other than that, they handled the claim promptly. The overall process was easy. The guy got into the dealer that handles everything for me. I didn't have any complaints. The work is good. However, I cancelled it. I'm selling my car, so I'm not driving anymore. Overall, I'd recommend ProtectMyCar.

I knew about ProtectMyCar online when it was still Solace and they cover what I wanted them to compared to other warranty providers. But the claim process was extremely difficult. I got one price from ProtectMyCar and a different price from the mechanic, and it was all mixed up. I ended up paying ProtectMyCar but when it was time to pay the mechanic shop, I got a call back saying my bill was a few thousand dollars higher than what the mechanic shop quoted. The only good thing was that Joe, who takes care of the billing, was pretty nice. ProtectMyCar is a good company if there are a few major problems with the vehicle's engine and transmission but for the little stuff, I would rather go to a regular mechanic.

Thank you for your comments, Mr. Walden. We truly appreciate your feedback. It is very important to us to know how well our policies work to help our customers
A review of the repair on which you filed your claim shows that we paid out over $2,860 to get your car repaired. That amount is quite a bit more than you have paid into the policy and this was only one repair. We are very glad we were able to help you out with that repair. Considering the potential for future repairs the policy will more than pay for itself and give you good peace of mind.
We let customers know that they may take their vehicle to any certified shop to have repairs done. Most companies simply issue a payment without making sure through inspection and review that the customer’s vehicle was repaired properly and for the right repair. We, however, have been helping customers for over a decade and we know from experience that vehicle repairs are often misdiagnosed. In order to get a proper diagnosis of the problems we hired at our expense a specialist to take a look at the automobile and give us an independent diagnosis. As we are sure you will agree, fixing only a part of the problem, or the wrong problem, could cost you a lot of lost time and trouble. It was well worth taking these steps at our expense to make sure the repair was done right the first time. This was especially important since you let us know that although the truck was running rough, there were no “check engine lights” lighting up as there should have been.
Having said that, we do understand that it was an inconvenience to you.. We want all policy holders to have good peace of mind knowing we will help them get their repairs done right the first time. To make that right, we are providing you with One Year Free Oil Changes on you vehicle. We will pay for the next three oil changes over the next year. Just show the service manager your policy ID card and we will take care of the rest. We are happy to provide this additional benefit to you. We want your experience with the policy to be a positive one.
With your vehicles age and mileage repairs are going to be required, probably sooner than later, and we stand ready to protect you with this coverage when that occurs.

Again, thank you for your comments and for being a valued long term policy holder. We hope that this explanation has been of benefit to you

Warranty was going out on my extended warranty I had from the factory, and it was a call from ProtectMyCar that I got at the right place at the right time. I had a poor experience when submitting the claim. When we went through it, I had a motor go out on my truck, and it was one delay after another delay. Expectations were not made on what was expected. Communication breakdowns telling me they were following protocol yet when they did their order, the sequence of things that they did, they didn’t even follow their own protocol. I was pretty miserable with it. It took me almost two months to get my vehicle back, and everything was about technicality.

“Give me patches of your tire size.” “Give me patches of your motor.” “What size of rims have you got?” They were looking for a way to not cover the issue. And then, all of my maintenance has always been done at a Ford dealership, every bit of it, so I would have a record of it. Plus, it’s a certified ASE-qualified mechanic doing everything and it was when we need records, we don’t have a problem. The four years of records on my truck, they got them.

It was “We can’t tell you whether we cover it or not until it’s broken down.” It ended up being the motor. So instead of getting a rebuilt motor, they sent me a motor out of a junkyard out of Mississippi or Alabama. Ford recommended a Ford built motor to be put back in it. So, I got a junkyard motor and it had 52,000 miles on it. The motor didn’t work. It was running hot and had issue with it. Then, I got a phone call. “We’ll send you another motor.” The next motor they sent me was another motor from the salvage yard, and it had 98,000 miles on it. When it came, it looked pretty pathetic.

When buying a warranty, one expects a rebuilt motor that’s been tested to make sure it’s okay, and none of that was done. When the first one went out, I asked to have a Ford-manufactured rebuilt motor put back in it. It’s basically a cost-cutting effort to get by the cheapest way they can. Because the first one didn’t work, they blamed that on their vendors. Now, it’s the vendors’ responsibility to give another motor. It was just back-and-forth, real bad communications. I was very argumentative as well as the person covering it, and I said I wasn’t real happy with it.

They have bad customer service. What they sell is a product to cover something. There’s misrepresentation to get the product. The only good thing about this is that, at the end of the day, they did the cover motor because they couldn’t find a technicality to get out of it so that forced them. But the whole experience was bad. The whole process that I had to go through they’ve taken too much and one excuse after another was not acceptable.

Thank you for the comments you wrote concerning your policy. First of all, thank you for being a policy holder since February, 2014. We appreciate that very much.
A review of the repairs to your vehicle shows that we paid out over $9,500 for repairs on your vehicle over the last year. That is almost five times what you have paid in on the policy premiums. Not a bad deal by any means. We were very glad to have helped you so much with those repairs. We regret that you do not feel the policy has done enough for you. The only repairs we were not able to help you with were to the complex sensors. Your policy does not cover the electrical failures to your sensors or computer module.
We cover the components that are most likely to break down and for the most part are the most costly to repair.
It would seem from your comments that you were not happy with the questions we asked of you and your mechanic about the prior maintenance done on your vehicle. We hope you do not feel you were in any way singled out in asking about the maintenance on your vehicle.
We did replace the defective engine when it was determined to have a fault. We purchase parts and components from reliable suppliers and warrant those components, as well as stand behind that warranty when a part, or n engine, becomes defective.

I had ProtectMyCar on just about all my cars and when the other company went out of business, they let the other companies know the number. One day I answered the phone and there was somebody on talking about the same thing and I just had picked up another car then. However, they have a problem right now with submitting a claim. I've been without a car for a whole month. They didn't want to go with the dealer part, they wanted to find their own parts. Then, they didn't get in touch with the shipper and the shipper didn't get in touch with them. I'm not a happy camper. I worked for a dealership so I know how things can go but for what the work they're doing I could've fixed it myself. I tried to talk to somebody about it - nobody never did call me back. The only person who called me were the people that said, "We're sorry about that."

They said, "We're going to save you some money." But here it is a whole month, I haven't saved any money; I spent some. But the payment's not a problem because it comes directly out of my account. There's no way I'm going to recommend them somebody else since my experience with them is not good. I hope they fix the car, that's all I want done.

Thank you for your comments on the policy you have with us. We appreciate your doing so very much. Thank you, too, for being a policy holder since September 2013. We appreciate that fact very much, as well. We strive very hard to make sure our policyholders get great service and great peace of mind. We are sorry that you feel the policy has not helped you as much as you would have liked.
From a review of your coverage it appears we have paid out almost $5,250 in claims for repairs over the last two years. That is almost four times what the policy cost over that period of time. We are very happy to have helped you with theses costs.
We do apologize if this last repair has taken more time than expected. A review of the claims file shows that our claims representative did make every effort to keep in touch with the repair shop and did not delay in ordering parts. There were delays in both parts delivery and getting the required records, as well as changes that were made to the repair costs by the shop in the middle of the process. All of these factors delayed the repair. While not all of the delay was our fault, we do take responsibility for getting you repair done right the first time. In hindsight there were certainly things we could have done better in this case and we again apologize for not recognizing that at the time. We will make sure that does not occur in the future.
As your vehicle ages and more miles are added it will be more likely that future repairs will be required. When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage.

My warranty had went out of my car and a young man from ProtectMyCar talked me into their program so I got them. I’ve been with them for about 2.5 years now and my experience with them has been really good. The transmission on my car went out and they put a new one. I was shocked to know how expensive the repair could have been to me. I’m really satisfied with ProtectMyCar and I have been recommending them to people. I’m still driving my car and I want my warranty with them to keep going.

A lady had spoken to me. She called me back another time and gave me a quote. I said I couldn't afford it, but she asked if I could afford $16 a month. I told her I probably could, but that I needed a warranty guarantee of what I'm protected for on my car. My experience in submitting a claim was not difficult at all. They gave me a pretty good explanation about what's going on because they saw how many oil and filter change I can get per year. I have used it twice so far and it came up pretty good. However my card has Solace on it so how would I be protected when it's coming into another name?

The company used my debit for making the payment when I purchased my extended auto warranty. I told them it's okay to do that because I changed to another bank. They said whenever I want to change that they'd be fine, so the worked with me so far. I would recommend them because they were very courteous and explained everything that I have asked them of. They didn't beat around the bush and the representative spoke to me and they transferred me over to someone when I said I can't afford that amount. I had an excellent experience with them.

It was a really expensive repair but all I had to do was pay a hundred dollars and they paid the rest. The whole process was easy, quick, and very thorough. I took the truck to the car dealer, told them what was going and and that I was with ProtectMyCar, and they set the whole thing up. I have also taken advantage of the rental car benefits since I had to leave the truck overnight. It's a wonderful company and I couldn't ask for a better one.

First and foremost, thank you for being a policy holder since March of last year. We appreciate that fact very much. We strive very hard to make sure our policyholders get great service and great peace of mind. We are sorry that you feel the policy has not helped you as much as you would have liked.
You had, of course, filed a claim in February 2015 for repairs on the diesel heating element on your Volkswagen Passat. The policy paid out almost $830 toward that repair. Then, in October, you had a problem with the charge pipe rubber hose that was denied for coverage as a non-covered component. The cost that you were charged by the shop for replacing that one hose was incredible. As we tell people every day, the cost of even a small repair can be hundreds of dollars. That is why having protection is so important.
We do help in other ways when a policy holder has a non-covered repair. To help you we have added One Year of Free oil changes to your policy. We will pay for the next three oil changes over the next year. Just show the service manager your policy ID card and we will take care of the rest. We are happy to provide this additional benefit to you. We want your experience with the policy to be a positive one. We look for ways to help our policy holders. If we did not do the right thing every time we would not have been in business for over ten years.
When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage. Again, thank you for your comments.

Please call us if you have any questions or if we can help in any way.

Thank you for the comments you wrote concerning your policy. Comments such as yours help us know the areas we can improve upon. First and foremost, thank you for being such a loyal customer for so long. It really means a lot to us. We are glad to have helped you at least 5 repairs to your two vehicles in the last 2 years, paying out almost $2,700. We are sorry you had to pay for the rental yourself on your last repair. Rental car benefits are built in to this policy and we will be happy to reimburse you as provided in your policy. We deal with literally hundreds of incidents weekly and only very rarely do we have a problem with rental car benefits. When that happens we take responsibility for making it right.

Please also remember that we provided you with free oil changes and tire rotations on both vehicles and have also discounted the cost of each policy over $700. As a preferred customer we also eliminated your deductible on repairs. We know this will help you not just with the policy cost but with any future repairs. We will be in touch with you so we can get you reimbursed for the car rental. Thank you again for your comments.

We strive very hard to make sure our policy holders get great service and great peace of mind. We are sorry that you feel the policy has not helped you as much as you would have liked. We have carefully reviewed the history of your policy over the last fifteen months. Over that period of time you had three repairs done on your vehicle. We paid more than $1800 towards those repairs, which is considerably more than the cost of the policy premiums you have paid in. The portion of the repairs that we were unable to pay related to repairs to components that are not covered by the policy. You have no doubt reviewed the policy and have seen that the policy lists each and every covered component. We make it very clear what components are covered and which are not. Thank you for taking time to provide your comments, Mr. Ogwin. We are very glad to have helped you so much on the repairs to your vehicle and regret that you feel the policy benefits should have been more help.
A review of the policy shows that in just the first three months of policy coverage we paid out over $300 in costs for your oil change and repairs. Not a bad return on the small monthly premiums and we are very glad to have been able to help with these costs. We do not cover the costs of bulbs or speakers or microphones that you were also having trouble with. On the repair to your mechanical components, we did meet our guarantee of saving you 25% of the repair cost by paying that portion directly to the repair shop.
Our Ambassador series of policies was created specifically for vehicle owners whose vehicles do not qualify for standard extended breakdown coverage, either because of excessive age or miles, or because of pre-existing conditions. The Ambassador family of policies is far less expensive than a standard extended warranty and therefore appeal to those on a limited budget.
Ambassador policies provide a wide variety of important benefits including free oil changes, free tire rotations and a significant reduction in repair costs, from a minimum guaranteed 25% up to 45% of the original estimate of repair costs. They also come with towing, 24/7 roadside assistance and rental car benefits.
As your vehicle ages and more miles are added it will be more and more likely that future repairs will be required. When that occurs and we help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments, Mr. Badru. We are very glad to have helped you so much on the repairs to your vehicle and regret that you feel the policy benefits should have covered more than they did.
A review of the claims shows that we paid out over $1,700 on the repair but did exclude only the battery and gaskets which are not covered components under the policy. These are maintenance items. That means that they must be maintained and replaced at regular intervals. The purpose of the policy is to pay for covered component failure, not items that must be replaced at regular intervals as they wear out. In short, you can plan ahead for regular maintenance. You can not see a component failure coming. That is where the coverage really helps.
I have had some good and not so good experiences with ProtectMyCar. They have a monthly payment plan that was very affordable and it's a decent thing. I had trouble one time when they have a towing benefit but they have to find someone who'd take a credit card. Also on one occasion, I was stuck and I called them at 11 o'clock and they got me a tow truck for about 5 hours. I had to stay in the hotel. They kept sending tow trucks to the wrong location. And some of their people have different perceptions of how things work. There seems to be a lack of consistency, on what the rules are. They say there's no towing benefit but others say there is. One told me that the hotel was covered but I was told soon that it has to be 150 miles from home before they'd pay the hotel.

Moreover, I didn't know that they cover oil change. It might be in the little book that they send out and no one has told me in any of my interactions with them. The problem with them is that they're all not the same. In order words, they've got a marketing department and a claims department and then they got a roadside assistance department and they all know each other but they don't talk to each other. They don't even know anything about the other. But they paid without any trouble the two claims I had with them. They paid for a starter, alternator and towing. There was a $100 deductible which I had to pay. So it could have come to between 800 to 1000 that I did not have to pay, which was good.

Thank you for your comments, Mr. Drew. It is very important to us to know how well our policies work to help our customers. Comments such as yours help us know where we can improve. First of all, though, thank you for being a preferred policy holder since March, 2013. That really means a lot to us.
We do apologize for the time it took to get a tow out to you. Since we operate nationwide, as well as Canada, we depend heavily on third party towing companies to handle tows for our customers on a priority basis. We do literally hundreds of tows per week. Sometimes, as in your case, the towing company did not handle the call properly. We take full responsibility for that problem and will make sure it is not repeated in the future. To help make that situation right we gave you a years free oil changes on us. We will pay for the next three oil changes over the next year. Just show the service manager your policy ID card and we will take care of the rest. We are happy to provide this additional benefit to you. We want your experience with the policy to be a positive one.
The policy does provide a reimbursement of lodging when you break down and are 150 miles or more from home. We also provide rental car benefits if the repair will take more than 4 hours to complete.

Again, thank you for your comments. We hope you will not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.

Shirley after receiving this review from you I have checked your file to see what the status of your reimbursement was and if there was any reason why you may not have received it already. I am looking the notes in your file now and it says we mailed the mailed you a check on 10/9/2015. I see that you contacted our customer service department on 10/12/2015 to see if the check had been sent out yet and our customer service representative explained that it was mailed out on the 9th of October and you should have it in a few days. Then when you did receive the check on 10/22/2015 you called our bank to verify what the check was for, our branch manager contacted us to make sure that this was not a fraudulent check, we explained it was in fact a reimbursement for a claim that Shirley paid out of her pocket and our branch manager said he he would explain that to you and he would let you know that you could go ahead and deposit the check. To ensure that this was handled correctly I just finished speaking to our payables department and they have confirmed that the check cleared our bank account on 10/23/2015. So the check that you are speaking about has been paid out, the funds cleared our checking account a week ago. If you have any questions please feel free to call us again. Thank you for your business and we hope that this clarification helps.

Thank you very much for your comments. We do apologize once again for the miscommunication on the oil change inclusion. It was entirely our fault. The coverage that you have does not normally provide for the cost of oil changes. That benefit can be added as an upgrade to the policy.
In your case, the policy was both discounted and upgraded to include the 2 years of free oil changes (3 per year). However, the upgrade was not added at the time of policy issue as it should have been. Our fault, entirely. Now that the policy has been amended you will have no problem with that next time you need an oil change. And, as always, you have great protection in the event of a breakdown.
Although we try to be perfect, we sometimes are not. When we find out we could have done better, we fix it right away. Again, our apologies for the error.

Thank you for your comments and concerns. We hope this response will help you with those concerns.
Our Ambassador policies are intended to help customer with mechanical breakdowns, which are almost always unexpected and very costly, as well as paying for oil changes and tire rotations. Neither our sales agent nor the policy terms suggest to any customer that we can negotiate a lower rate for regular maintenance services or flat fee items (tune-ups, tire replacement, fuel injector cleaning, ect…) This helps keep the cost of the policy down while still providing needed protection to policy holders when an unexpected break down occurs. After all, people are most vulnerable at the time there vehicle breaks down, and that is when they need help the most.
We apologize for any miscommunication. To make that right, we are discounting the cost of your policy $100, effective immediately. We want you to have good peace of mind with this policy and hope that this will help provide that. I have tried calling you to let you know but have not reached you. You will see the reduction in the price on your next billing.
Please remember, the policy pays for your oil changes, towing, 24 road side assistance and reimbursement for a rental car, as well as lowering repair costs from 25% to 45%. All of this help is provided for a very nominal monthly premium.

Thank you for the comments you wrote concerning your policy.
We very much understand that as a policy holder you appreciate fast, competent service. We go to great effort to streamline the claims process as much as possible to get you back on the road without delay. However, some information is essential to make sure you get competent professional service for your repairs. All too often, repairs are mis-diagnosed. Sometimes more than one component needs attention but does not get it, causing a return to the repair shop in a few days or weeks. It is simply prudent to make sure that the proper diagnosis and repair is accomplished the first time. It saves everyone, including you, needless expense and time.
We strive to be professional as well as efficient in completing the claims process. A little extra time to be sure that repairs are being completed correctly just makes good sense.

We hope this explanation helps you see how well the policy can help you on future repairs. As always, of course, if you have any questions, please let us know.

I chose ProtectMyCar because I liked what they were offering and the coverage. When I bought my vehicle I took it to an ASE certified master mechanic and he told me it still has 100% of the original parts and advised that when I start putting some miles on it, I just might have some problems here and there. That's when I started thinking about extended warranties and got ProtectMyCar. My experience with them was pretty good until when I had to use the service. I do a lot of maintenance by myself such as oil changes, transmission flushes and engine flushes. According to the warranty, if anything were to happen, I would have to have a record or an account of my service or servicing dates and/or have a copy of my receipts to serve as proof but I wasn't able to present any. And because of that, they said they are not going to cover my vehicle. Due to my ignorance, I'm learning everything about extended warranties the hard way. Overall, I'm satisfied but I still wish they could've done more in my situation.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments, Mr. Davis. We can appreciate the fact that you do much of your own maintenance and therefore are concerned you do not have maintenance records to support that fact. All policies require that regular maintenance be performed. When up to date maintenance records are required it is usually because the mechanic who preforms the diagnosis finds evidence that little or no maintenance was performed. The mechanic you employed reported the low pressure oil light at idle and engine chatter. It is for that reason that we required the maintenance records on your vehicle. We were not singling you out. All policies exclude breakdowns caused by the lack of customary maintenance. We did, however, still help you with the costs of parts and a portion of the repairs. We were glad to have provided these benefits to you.
We hope this letter helps explain how the claims process works and how we can and will help you in the future.

We can even help you with establishing good maintenance over the next year at little or no cost to you. Please do not hesitate to let us know if we can help and if you have any questions. Thank you again, Mr. Davis.

I was a prior serviceman and the gentleman from ProtectMyCar was a prior marine. I was happy that he gave me a discount and made my payment affordable so I went with them. I've used the maintenance deal at a dealership in Lumberton to have the oil changed, but when I submitted a claim, it was denied at first. I did not understand why so I called back and asked what was going on. I got the luxury package. I was told it’s covered bumper-to-bumper, and if something goes wrong, it’s going to be taken care of. I asked why would the part of the ignition module system and fuel not be covered. They said it’s not listed as one of the parts. I said the policy stated it covers all of ignition and fuel modules. The representative put me on hold, called somebody, and called back to say it is covered. It wasn’t much of an argument at all. The man handled it the way it needs to be handled, so I was satisfied with it.

Then they called the dealer and asked them to cut the labor because my part was about $100. The technician didn’t want to cut the labor, so I paid that myself. They’ve been giving me a hard time about covering it so paid it. It ended costing me about $260. I didn't think I should’ve paid it but instead of arguing back and forth, it was easier to do that and get my vehicle back. I hope that something else happens that I don’t have to go through this going forward. Overall, I would recommend ProtectMyCar to anybody, the people I’ve talked to have been really friendly and helpful.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments. It is unfortunate that you feel the policy was of no benefit to you. A review of the policy shows that you took out the policy in February, 2015 and filed one claim during that time, on September 30 of this year. We are sorry that you feel the policy did not benefit you as much as you expected.
Your claim was filed on September 30. You indicated that the that the car was losing compression. We offered to pay the maximum amount to get the vehicle towed in but you refused that assistance. You asked the repair facility to estimate the cost of repairs. We requested the shop to provide a repair estimate, which they did on 10-5. In order to protect you, our policy holder, and our company, we hired at our expense an inspector to review the vehicle to determine the cause of the problem you were experiencing. The inspector submitted his report within 2 days on Oct 7. It appeared that the problem with the engine was simple wear and tear of the valves and/or bearings that this condition existed before you got the policy and that no breakdown of the parts had occurred.
The policy clearly states that coverage does not extend to normal wear and tear or when no breakdown of the components has occurred. We reported the findings to you the same day we received the report. Rather than let us assist you any further, you chose to cancel the policy at that time.
We regret that we were unable to assist you with this problem. We are required and do treat all policies the same for the protection of all policy holders. With your vehicles age and mileage repairs are going to be required, probably sooner than later, and we would urge you to get some protection against those costs.

Again, thank you for your comments. We hope that this explanation has been of benefit to you.

I'm pleased with ProtectMyCar. Making the payments for the auto extended warranty was easy and solid as it was payroll deducted. I went and got my oil and tires rotated but it took them several times to get through faxing the claim over to get it paid so I could leave. Prior to that, it took me a while to get through too and it was inconvenient. Even though it took a while, it was okay.

Thank you for the comments you wrote concerning your policy. Comments such as yours help us know the areas we can improve upon. Thank you, too, Mr. Taylor, for being a policy holder since March of this year.
We very much understand that as a policy holder you appreciate fast, competent service. We go to great effort to streamline the claims process as much as possible to get you back on the road without delay. However, some steps simply have to be done without any shortcuts. A case in point is the written authorization for the repair charge. We do this for your protection for a couple of important reasons. First, we want you to know that the charge represents payment if full for the repair. We do not want you to go pick up your car and find that the mechanic has found “other” charges they want you to pay in order to release the car. Second, it makes good sense to have a written record of the charges for you, you bank and credit card company. If there were other options that still protected you as much, we would use them. Your security and financial safety is far too important, however, for us to do less than the best we can.
In some cases, such as in the claim we handled for you, the repair shop may not be able to provide a final invoice timely. It took them 5 days to get it to us. This is not a failing on their part. They just needed to spend the time to get the repair done correctly. As we said, we need a final invoice before issuing payment in order to protect you against any other charges the shop may charge when you pick up the car. Some shops will try to charge storage charges, handling charges, administrative charges. The list goes on and on. Making sure that does not happen is one of the protections we provide for all policy holders.

Thank you again for your comments. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or if we can be of any help.

ProtectMyCar gave me a good deal so I signed up with them. The payment for the extended warranty goes right out of my checking account each month so it's been easy. I had no problem every time I’ve done an oil change, and ProtectMyCar pays for it. And the last time I put my car in the shop, they paid for it. Although when I first filed a claim, it took them forever to approve anything, and in the end they didn't approve it. But after that, the claims process has been fine. Overall, I'd recommend ProtectMyCar.

Purchasing this extended auto warranty was easy, they take it out my bank. I chose ProtectMyCar because of their price, but submitting a claim was not good. Not too many people want to take that ProtectMyCar claims card. Not too many people want to deal with it. They are all like, "What's this?" They ask me what it was about, and when I told them, they said, "No no no. we'd rather not use that." It's not very good because I've taken my car to two different shops and nobody wants to pick it up, nobody wants to deal with it. Overall, I'm dissatisfied with ProtectMyCar.

I am sorry that they are telling you that they do not want to work with your extended warranty company. Something is not right here, we will be making the payment for the repair using a corporate credit card. If you need a list of licensed repair centers that would be very happy to take your coverage plan please call the claims department telephone number that is listed on your card. Our claims advisors will give you 3 or 4 different repair centers that would be happy to help with your vehicle.

I've used them for oil changes which they paid through the extended warranty. I've also used their 24/7 roadside assistance (I locked myself out of the car and lived to talk about it.) I want to cancel my extended warranty with ProtectMyCar. They told me a different story than when I purchased the warranty. At the time I was buying the insurance, they said they will cover everything, such as unlimited towing, and they guaranteed to save me at least 25-45% in car repairs. When my car was broken however, it took me about two days to tow it. Last night they were supposed to have a tow truck for the car, with the towing people call me within a number of minutes. Two to three hours after that, nobody called or showed up. I then go home and called them the next day. The car is finally towed to a garage and ProtectMyCar said they are going to negotiate with the garage.

They didn't even tell me how much it's going to be so I thought it was going to be fine. When I went down to the garage to sign the paperwork and pick up the car however, the garage asked me to pay an additional $265 so I was frustrated. I already paid $800 for the extended warranty and with the additional fee I had to make for the repair, I paid a total of $1,000 something overall. In the end, ProtectMyCar doesn't save me anything at all.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments. It is unfortunate that you feel the policy was of no benefit to you. A review of the policy shows that you took out the policy on June 12, 2015 and paid in a total of $114.60 in premiums, including your down payment.
The shop estimated the total repair cost to your car to be $1071.75. Our policy guarantee to you is to pay 25% of that repair cost, which came to $267.93. Your portion of the repair cost was the difference, 803.82.
You paid that amount to us and we in turn paid the shop the total of $1071.75. In short, we paid more than twice what you paid in as premium on the policy. Not a bad deal by any means.
What seems to be the problem was that you also requested tires for the vehicle. That cost was not disclosed on the estimate we received and would not have been covered under the terms of the policy. The policy is meant to help with the cost of repairs, not replacing tires. Had you let us know you had ordered tires for the vehicle before doing so we would have been happy to explain that to you.
The shop rightly expected you to pay for the tires.

We are sorry that the experience was not a positive one for you.

A review of your policy records shows that you got the policy on October 2 of this year and that at that time you had some repair work that needed to be done. Most policies exclude from coverage any pre-existing conditions. Our Ambassador policies, however, gives you the help you need immediately, even on pre-existing conditions.
The repair shop estimate for the repair was more than $7,560. Our claims department got to work immediately and was able to get the cost of the repair reduced by over $2,070. That is real money you did not have to spend. We also paid $100 to get the car towed in. We are very happy to have been able to provide these services to you. We understand that you were hoping that the policy would do more for you. Some help, of course, is always better than none at all. To further help you out, we have discounted the cost of this coverage by an additional $100. You will see the reduced monthly premium on your next billing. We are glad we can help you in this way.
It is not, however, an extended warranty, and that is clearly explained at the time the policy is purchased as well as in the policy itself.

Thank you, Ms. Benjamin

A review of your policy records shows that you got the policy in September of this year. Since that time we have paid almost $700 in tow costs, repair costs and other costs. Since you have only paid a down payment and one months premium, around $60 total, the policy has really helped save you a great deal of money. We are proud and pleased to have been able to help you as much as we have.
We are happy to help with repairs but, obviously, the policy has to be paid up to date in order to get the benefits of the policy. Likewise, while we met our guarantee of saving a minimum of 25% of the repair costs, the balance of the repair cost has to be paid. We realize that it may have taken you some time to get these funds together. That does add time to the repair of your vehicle. Also, we do provide reimbursement for car rentals. It does not appear that you ever filed a claim for reimbursement. You are more than welcome to do so. Again, your policy payments have to be up to date to receive the benefits of the policy.

I've done my quotes with different companies. I was like, "Nah, I'm not interested." But with ProtectMyCar the price was reasonable so I thought let me give it a try. Then I was a little disappointed since there was a lot of back and forth with the payment. I was getting a little bit aggravated at times. They feel like the dealer was charging too much and the dealer was saying that, "You can't come into my shop and tell me how long it's going to take me to do something because you're not the one who's doing it. My guy’s the one who’s doing it. And if I’m telling he’s going to take a whole week, you can’t tell me it’ll only take a half an hour. We work different."

I can understand where the dealer is coming from and where ProtectMyCar are coming from because they said that they do a survey and it only take this amount of time and it should only cost this amount. So I got caught in the middle because the dealer keep calling me, "When are you coming to get your car?" And then I keep calling them, "Listen, they need to get paid so I could get my car. I need to get going."

I didn't even take a rental car from them. I was going to rent a car in my own because I was told that they have to approve the job before I can get a rental car. I work, I got my wife and my kids, I need a car. I can't just wait until they looked at it. My insurance wouldn't give me a car in the insurance because it's not an insurance claim but I understand and it worked out in the end. The service besides the back and forth was good. ProtectMyCar provided the parts. They call me and let me know what's going on and when they ship out the particular parts to the dealer and the parts were genuine because the dealer looked at it. They did the installation then I got my car and everything was good. I am much satisfied.

I am concerned about your 1 Star review that was posted because I am going through your claims history in our system which is showing that our claims adviser did pay $1,267.50 of the total repair cost of $1,886.98 filed on 10/6/2015. Your review is very important to us, we use it to gauge your satisfaction level with the product we offer and the service you received. While addressing our customer reviews we are able to make adjustments to our procedures as needed. This policy was written for your vehicle when it had 115,530 miles on it and because of the high mileage on your vehicle you qualified for our Driveline policy. This policy was designed for vehicles with more than 90,000 miles but still providing real coverage for major components like your engine, transmission, air conditioner and many other major components. In addition to paying $1,267.50 we also paid an addition $120 for your rental car. I understand that you may be frustrated because the contract did not cover the entire $1,886.98 that your repair required, but I want to be very clear that the parts that were not covered are clearly listed in your contract booklet, we do give every new customer a full 30-day money back guarantee so each consumer has the time to carefully review the policy once it’s received to decide if it’s the coverage they were expecting.

Thank you very much for your comments. We very much appreciate your allowing us to protect you on all three vehicles for so long and that we have been able to help you with needed repairs.
We do understand that it can be frustrating to have to make repairs to components not covered by the policy. We regret that some repairs were no covered by the policy for this reason.
To help you with those costs we want to extend an oil change to you on each vehicle free of charge. We will pay for the next oil change on each vehicle. Just show the service manager your policy ID card and we will take care of the rest. We are happy to provide this additional benefit to you. We want your experience with the policy to be a positive one.
You have no doubt reviewed the policies and have seen the list of each and every covered component. It is a balance between the potential for break down and the cost of coverage giving all policy holders the best protection possible at the lowest possible cost.

As your vehicles age and more miles are added will be more likely that future repairs will be required. As comprehensive as the policy is, it is far more likely that future repairs will be to covered components. When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage. Again, thank you for your comments.

Making payments for purchasing my extended auto warranty was easy. The guy that contacted me made sure that I was comfortable with the prices that he gave me and the time period to pay it off. What I'm paying for right now is like paying for one oil change, so I can see the difference. And if I have any other problems in the long run as far as mechanical problems, they will help me with the price instead of paying the full price for the parts and the labor.

The warranty did not serve me as its purpose, but I decided to see it fit because of some of the problems that I was having when I owned my car. As far as the oil changes and the tire rotation, its been okay. I might get the warranty for some of the other cars that I have in the long run. I've submitted a claim but the claim the Honda place wouldn't pay for parts and labor. And it was because the expenses are a little too much. I don't know what it was. It was my hybrid battery, and they said it wasn't covered. I let Honda take care of the claim. I had already called and talked to someone, and they told me how to do it, and they told me to fill out the claim form and submit it. When I contacted Honda back, they already had my car out because they did an oil change on it. I was just looking at some of the other issues.

So far, my experience has been pretty good. It wasn't all that I expected, but I see the difference in the work they are saying. With the experience that I had, its with the miles that I have on my car, which are thousands. And I see the difference in how they treat a person with lower mileage and the difference with the maintenance and the parts and labor prices.

When ProtectMyCar.com called me a year or so ago, I was getting a lot of offers for warranty or insurance for my 2008 Maxima. I really didn't have any intention of getting it. The salesman was just unusually good and unusually persistent and I couldn't get off the phone. That was the only reason I bought it and I fully intended to cancel it. But about the time that I bought it, my neighbors had a $4000 transmission bill and I thought, well I can afford $50 a month better than I can afford a $4000 surprise. I didn't cancel it but I didn't use it. They'd mail me stuff and I'd forgotten about it. It really wasn't a priority.

Finally a couple of weeks ago, I had a noise in my car that I didn't know what it was. I took it to a couple of different places and finally NTB, where I get my tires, worked on it. They replaced a bunch of stuff, had it for a couple of days. Without me asking them about the warranty company they volunteered this information, "Your warranty company is excellent to work with. They answered the phone, there was a claims advisor on the phone, we didn't have any trouble. We normally hate warranty companies but yours is good." So I thanked them, I said "okay". They didn't get the problem fixed. There was still a noise so I took it to the Nissan dealership yesterday and when they took me home, they said, "Wow, working with your warranty company was a pleasure. We called them, they took down what we needed, they got us our payment and we normally hate working with warranty companies but not yours."

ProtectMyCar.com must be awful good if two big companies have told me that without me even asking. I called yesterday and I thought this is very fortunate for me because I didn't do any research. I was lucky to choose the right one. I thanked them for selling me the warranty policy because it’s saved me a lot of money already. It’s been good.

ProtectMyCar have great service and people, so it was very helpful. I felt like everybody was honest. I went with them because of the price and the stuff they provided were what I was looking for. I used the warranty once to get an oil change, so that's great. Submitting the claim was easy too. It was almost in and out - nothing that caused a headache. The shop did it via phone. Also, it was easy to make payment because it comes out every month automatically. My experience with them is perfect.

I’m on a fixed income, and tempted to cancel and pay what I already had done. The man told me that I could get my oil change for free, so I went and had a little trouble. I thought I could do it at Walmart but they wouldn’t take that. I had to go to one of the oil change places, and after he got through doing what he had to do, I had to take the bill and go down to the business center and fax them a copy of it to show what I had done. It ended up great, and I’ve nothing bad to say, just that I should’ve waited a little better.

The best thing that happened with Solace is when my vehicle broke down after hours they got me a tow truck and paid for it immediately. I'm very grateful that they handled the towing very professionally. Even though the guy was states away and was talking to me from Wisconsin at 11 o'clock at night. That guy was great and I've got the best things ever to say about him. But every other aspect of Solace just fell apart.

As far as on any other aspect, the free oil changes, they literally wouldn't authorize it. The Meineke that I went to on September 30th kept faxing the documentation over and over again. They kept me there three hours to get my oil change done because Solace wouldn't pay for it. It finally got to the point where I jumped on the phone and said, "Listen, I've got a dentist appointment to go to. I cannot sit here any longer. I'm just paying for it out of my pocket and leaving." That's when the guy said, "Put the guy on the phone right now. I'll pay for it right now."

Another issue is nobody isn't there over the weekend but my vehicle broke down on a Friday night. I am grateful that they did get me a tow truck to come right away. I told them where to go. Apparently, the STS Tire kept calling and there's no way to settle a claim over the weekend which I thought sucked. I couldn't afford rental cars and to get my vehicle fixed at a $700 repair bill. I just had to pay for it. I had enough of Solace.

Also, I blocked my card when I got an email alert stating that ProtectMyCar was trying to debit one of my credit cards. I didn't realize that it was Solace. I was contacted by somebody that works for Solace. I got three things saying ProtectMyCar.com and I thought somebody stole my information. I didn't go on any website to order anything.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments. We sincerely apologize for the problem you experienced with the oil change. We pay for literally hundreds of oil changes for our policy holders all over the United States and Canada every week. It is extremely rare that we have any problem with the shops that we deal with. We do require, for both your protection and ours, that we receive a final invoice before making a payment to the shop. Most of the time this is no problem at all. We have no idea why the shop you went to had such difficulty in providing this simple final invoice. I have to credit the claims adjuster for breaking protocol to make the payment to help you with your schedule
Having said that, we do understand that in this instance the claims process did inconvenience you. Our fault or not we take responsibility for the delay you experienced. We feel it is only right to waive your monthly payment for November. We want your experience with the policy to be a positive one.
Thank you to for the nice comments on the towing services. The system we have been using for years works very well with only rare exceptions. We do apologize for any inconvenience you experienced and take full responsibility for the delays.
As you may have read in an earlier letter and e-mail we sent to you, Solace has now become “Protect My Car” in order to better identify the services we provide to our policy holders. The company, the policies, coverage and benefits all remain the same.

Again, than k you for letting us know that we have helped you. Thank you also for letting us know those areas where service can be approved. We take those comments to heart to make our customer’s experience easier and give all policy holders better peace of mind.

ProtectMyCar is the worst company I've ever dealt with in my life. They've outright lied to me. My car went in the shop two weeks ago this Monday for an hour and a half job and they insist on supplying the parts. The parts have not arrived yet. I'm going to have to rent a car so my girlfriend can keep her job. They promised it would be here again today, but it's not here yet. They told me they've ordered them and shipped the parts yesterday, but the parts still haven't been shipped. I've dealt with a lot of companies in my life, and this company should not be in business.

I paid them upfront on the 14th but they never paid the shop. They're supposed to cover 25% of the deal, so I had to give them $450 for them to order the parts. Then I can get part of my money back. I finally got a guy that said the parts are on a nationwide back order. So I called him and said, "Where did you order them from?" He said, Hyundai. I called Hyundai and learned that wasn't true. They weren't on a nationwide back order. They've done everything they can to procrastinate. I wish there was a way I could get my money back from my warranty. I am very dissatisfied with the experience.

Thank you for your comments and concerns. We hope this response will help you with those concerns.
First and foremost, thank you for being a policy holder since June of this year. We appreciate that fact very much. We strive very hard to make sure our policy holders get great service and great peace of mind. We are sorry that you feel the policy has not helped you as much as you would have liked. We have carefully reviewed the history of your policy over the last six months. Over that period of time you had eight claims, including repairs, towing services, rental car reimbursement and oil changes. We paid out $1,135, which is considerably more than the cost of the policy premiums you have paid in. We are proud to have been able to help you in this way.
On your last repair, according to the written orders, parts that were specified on the repair estimate were ordered on 10/19. The parts were to be delivered directly to the repair shop. We were advised by the supplier that the parts were back ordered and after numerous calls to the supplier and the shop to stay in communication, the parts were delivered on 10-26. On this repair alone we were able to save you over $150, meeting our guarantee. We do apologize that the supplier was unable to get the parts to the repair shop as soon as was promised by them. Although out of our control, we did work diligently to make sure the parts arrived at the shop.
Having said that, we also understand that you feel the frustration caused by the time delay. We want to make that right. We are waiving your November payment on the policy. We want your experience with the policy to be a positive one
We regret that you had this one bad experience in the last eight claims and assure you that we will work even harder to help you in the future with any other claims. Please remember the policy will not just pay the cost of oil changes and tire rotations, but help with the cost of repairs, towing, rental cars and 24/7 road side assistance. Thank you again for your thoughts.

Please call us if you have any questions or if we can help in any way.

ProtectMyCar covered more parts compared to my previous extended warranty which covers hardly anything. The first time I submitted a claim, I was put through the ringer and they denied the claim and they questioned the mechanic shop. It was just so much that I just decided to drop it. The second time was with a different repair shop, it seemed okay. The concierge was the one that dealt with it instead of me. Payments are easy, they take it out of my account. I haven't used any of their benefits yet because Mercedes dealership gave me a free car, so I didn't need it. There are a few things that needed to be tweaked but I think they're much better now than before. So I would still recommend them because of the first experience I've had.

Thank you for the comments you wrote concerning your policy. Thank you also for being a policy holder since May of this year.
You filed your first claim on the alternator within the first 30 days of the policy. As we explain to all new policy holders, the first 30 days after a policy is issued is a review period for you to review the policy, ask questions and determine if the policy meets your needs. All policies exclude pre-existing conditions and claims filed within 30 days of policy issuance or 1000 miles, whichever comes first.
It would have been easier to simply deny the claim on that basis. However, we did not just take the easy way out. We did ask questions of you and your mechanic to determine whether there was a way to help you with that repair. We are sorry that you felt this was an imposition on you. We really were trying to help you. As you said in your comments, though, you just decided to drop it at that point.
The second claim on the vehicle was in October of this year and there were no such issues. We were happy to assist you with the claim and paid out $1,250 on the transfer case. That was a great deal more that the premiums you had paid in as of that date. Significantly reducing the cost of repairs is precisely what the policy is meant to do. We are glad that we were able to help you do so.

The purpose of the policy is to pay the cost of covered repairs less the deductible. As your vehicle ages and more miles are added it will be more likely that future repairs will be required. When that occurs and we are able to help you with those repairs, you will be very glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage. Again, thank you for your comments.

ProtectMyCar refused to pay for it until it actually stopped again because they only cover mechanical breakdown. When I took it from the shop, it stopped at the middle of a bridge in midday traffic. I attempted to use their road assistance but they took over an hour and a half to get there. The police actually came and they had to have it towed. They do make the payments, but this last experience was really horrible for me.

Thank you for the comments you provided. We appreciate your taking time to let us know about your experience. We strive very hard to make the process as easy as possible and give our policy holders good peace of mind. We are very sorry that in this instance the policy did not provide that.
One reason that we ask that your vehicle be diagnosed by an ASE certified mechanic is that we depend on their expertise in diagnosing problems. The noise you were hearing from your automobile could have been caused by any number of factors. While it is true that no policy will cover noise issues, only break downs, a noise like that Is a good indication that a diagnosis should be done.
The major problem that you had was the time delay in getting the tow. We understand that the police department got you towed before the tow truck we hired got there. They had, in fact, promised to be on the scene within fifteen minutes. Obviously, they did not. Since we do literally hundreds of tows in a weeks time all across the country we do depend on third party towing companies to give our customers priority service. That was not done in your case and for that we apologize and take full responsibility. Although we have already reimbursed you the cost of the tow, we want to do more.
We are providing you with One Year Free Oil Changes on you vehicle. We will pay for the next three oil changes over the next year. Just show the service manager your policy ID card and we will take care of the rest. We are happy to provide this additional benefit to you. We want your experience with the policy to be a positive one.

We do stand ready to assist you, Ms. Howard, with future repairs and benefits. We hope that you will not hesitate to let us know if we can be of any help, and please so not hesitate to call us if you have any questions. Thank you once again.

When I first tried to get my car towed from my work, the woman I talked to took the information down but I never heard from anybody afterwards. Four or five days passed and things stayed the same. I had to call her back, but I got to talk to a man instead who set everything up. He was great. He got everything done. The tow truck people came within the next two hours and it was for $165. But only $65 came out of my pocket so that was a blessing. Unfortunately, I'm on the process of getting rid of the car that's under ProtectMyCar because the worth of work that needs to be done to it is close to $5,000. Eventually, I'll have to cancel it out because I was told I can't switch to another vehicle. But I do know that ProtectMyCar is only going to pay up to $375 for the mechanical work and I don't have close to $5,000. So I don't have any choice but to sell the van.
