I just put a down payment on a Nissan Sentra 07. People say it was the best car they had out there. I was in a wreck. I went up there as usual to pay my car note 195 every two weeks and they refused to take payment cause I missed a payment on my insurance. I didn't have the money for both right then. They threatening to take my car. Then after they refuse to take payments I put car in body shop so my insurance fixed the wreck for when it did happen and was active.
As soon as I get the car out the shop someone pulls up in a black truck & practically steals the car from in front of my house. All my belongings in the vehicle. I'm guessing that's how they repo their car instead of tow truck. They didn't even get the keys from me, just jumped in and drove off! I had just got out the car not even 5 mins and the car was gone. The doors was lock. They the only ones with the spare key! I just feel as that's very very unprofessional. I even called the police cause I thought someone stole my car!

My husband and I decided to go to J.D. Byrider for a car because we really needed one. We responded to a tv ad which advertised 199 down. I spoke with a salesperson and asked him repeatedly if this was true and he told me yes. I asked him if this applied to certain vehicles and he stated it was for ANY car on the lot. Now I know I'm not crazy because there is a difference between ANY and CERTAIN right? Apparently I was crazy because when we got there he said it was for certain cars. Like level one cars and needless to say they looked raggy. Lies and a waste of time. I'm glad we walked away and they still are calling, because after reading these reviews and our experience, I can tell you the phone will ring off the hook. I want nothing to do with these people. EVER.

I ended up getting a 2005 Grand Am from JD Byrider August of 2015. When I went to pick the car up, I noticed that the front passenger tire was low. I get home and fill it back up. Two days later I have to fill it up again. I contacted the dealership about the problem and was told they couldn't get me in for a whole week so I'd have to keep filling it with air every two days. Finally I get in and there is a huge nail in my tire that was picked up at the dealership... lovely. No charge for plugging the hole. Now I get to dick around with the insurance and the car payments.
Insurance... where to start - got the $78 through the dealership until I got my own through Progressive. Send the policy over right away and was told it would be taken care of. Yeah that didn't happen apparently. So the money on my card for my car payment was short because they pulling insurance that should have been canceled at the beginning of September when the policy was made... full coverage btw.
So now the car payment is short because of it, and now I'm being demanded to make my car payment right this second. Their problem for pulling it, now I have to wait until payday (Friday) to go to the dealership and make the payment they failed to fix. When they pull money off the card, get the mistake fixed... it's a given it will take a few days for that money to go back onto the card... duh!!! So phone calls everyday since the 2nd have been driving me insane. Had this been taken care of like I told it was going to be, there wouldn't be a problem. Damn ripoff.

Purchased for my daughter since she needed transportation. This vehicle broke down so many times that I finally gave up on the repairs which have cost almost as much as the vehicle. The car has now been broken down in her driveway for over a year now as I can't afford to keep fixing it and neither can she. She finally took out a loan for another vehicle somewhere else and has been very happy with it. In the meantime I am counting down the payments so I can scrap this pile of junk that I am paying over $300 a month for! RIPOFF. They take full advantage of people who are in financial difficulty and then using their services only makes the problems worse.

My husband and I went to JD Byrider in Mount Pleasant Wisconsin. We also told them that we had bad credit and was looking for a car and was hoping they could help us. They decided to help us with $1,000 down and also with bad credit. Which I thought was awesome at that time. So my husband and I had 500 and had to scrape up the other 500. The salesman told us if we come up with $1,000 down he would check into giving us a 2009 Suzuki XL 7. So we managed to scrape up the rest of the thousand dollars and called him the next day. We inform him we were on our way with the money so we can purchase the Suzuki XL 7. So he informed us the car was still there, to come on in and we can get the car.
We drove 45 minutes to the dealer got to the dealer and someone else was test driving the car. We walked in the dealer and sat at his desk and he informed us that one of the other dealers had sold the truck before we got there. I informed him it was just an hour ago that we called him and told him we were on our way. He apologized and said he was upset about it and offered the van, which I said I didn't want a van in the beginning. My husband and I walked out very disappointed and will never ever go back to JD Byrider. On top of it all the person that they sold the car to was a friend or relative of one of the workers. If they didn't want to help us with bad credit then they should have turned it down instead of leading us on. Horrible customer service and I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there!

C.N.A.C/J.D. Byrider tried to sell me a license plate after I already transferred my old plate. Then tried to refuse my on time car payment in order to repo my car. I then spoke to a person at the dealership that told me the people I'm dealing with at CNAC are people with little to no education on a second chance job opportunity given by the state to ex-cons.

I recently purchased a 2006 Kia Spectra two weeks ago 09/18/2015. I was very satisfied with purchase and the car, until I received a letter in mail stating I had to make a payment of $250.00 within a week of purchase. I called one of the Finance Managers that I have the car loan with (CNAC) and she stated that I had to make additional payments of 4 installments of $250.00 (which was not explained clearly during sale).
When I went there initially with my aunt the sales guy told me all I needed down was $300.00. Little did I know is what they do is add in $1000 to your contract/loan along with your down payment the customer being responsible to pay $1000 back. I was livid when finding this out and when I tried talking to Manager and other Finance manager they weren't so nice about the whole situation.
Its seems everyone was pleasant and nice when I was purchasing car but once they found out I wasn't happy as a customer it didn't matter. Not only did I have to pay by due date if I didn't they were going to repo my car that evening by 7 pm allowing NO grace period. And I told them I wanted to return car requesting a refund. The Finance Manager tells me in my contract that I'm not able to get my refund once I took car off the lot. So I now have to pay three more installments of $250 plus my first car note is due Nov. 20th. I really needed a car because I had NO transportation but if I knew what I know now I definitely would of have took my time and waited to purchase a car. I definitely will NOT be referring anyone of my family members like I intended on to this dealership.

JD Byrider has been a financial nightmare for almost two years now. I am a single parent with two college age children and went to JD Byrider looking for a starter car for my daughter who was entering her sophomore year of college to help her establish credit of her own. We got her a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser which we were told was in good condition for her college commuting. To say the least, two years later we have invested over $3000 in repairs and the car is still not working. JD Byrider does not accept calls but they get their money. At this point I am over them and trying to get rid of this piece of junk they sold me. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THEM. They are crooks!!!

I purchased my minivan back in DEC. of 2012. I have never been late with making a payment of $388.00. I have had nothing but bad experience with the repair shop. I purchased an extended warranty thinking I was protecting myself. Unfortunately my warranty does not cover any of the maintenance that needed repaired on my vehicle. So far in just the past 3 months my vehicle has been towed to their shop three times for an AC compressor. It's still now in the shop. It’s been there for a week and now they are replacing the AC compressor FOR THE FOURTH TIME!!! I've had to pay for all towing expenses and now they will not release my vehicle without charging me for more parts and labor. I've been without my van more than I've had it. This year alone it’s been in the shop 8 times - 4 in the past 2 months. The same part keeps on needing to be replaced - the AC compressor which is not covered under warranty.
Each time they have my vehicle for about a week, and I get charged for labor. My extended warranty expires in December of 2015 and my car payments loan will not be paid off until February of 2017. I know my vehicle is not going to last the life of the loan. I'm going to get stuck paying on a vehicle that does not even work. I have told the service department that I do not feel safe in the vehicle. I'm deathly afraid to drive my vehicle. I asked them to please put me into a different car with no success. I've also contacted the main office to file a complaint but still, no one has yet to contact me back. I am a single mother of three and disabled. I need a safe and reliable vehicle.

My check engine light is on. Now it's been on for a while. I have not had any major issues but I simply thought this was a company that helps not hurt. They only make matters worst. If you're a day late they're already calling for repossession. I hate that I ever signed this contract and I will be looking into trying to get out of it. It's like they try to get as much money out of you as possible before your contract is up. I just want out. They make their own rules and can change them at anytime. I purchased a 2003 Nissan Murano on 5/20/2015. 1 month later in the shop. 1 month later in the shop again. So basically I have had this vehicle for 3 1/2 months and have had nothing but problems. As I type this it is in the shop. Vehicle left my wife and daughter stranded on the side of the road. They offer a 2yr/24,000 mile warranty but it seems they will only honor it if it is a quick and inexpensive fix. My vehicle is having transmission issues and at best that's about $3000. They claim the vehicles are inspected and serviced before they hit the lot for sale. **.
I understand that this is second chance financing for people with credit issues and I do expect to pay more for the vehicle because of that. But us consumers deserve a working vehicle regardless, especially if you offer a warranty. I purchased a 2002 Dodge Durango in 2008 from a similar type dealership and I just sold it in 2014 because it really started giving me problems. That was 6 years of reliability and I drove it from Virginia to Texas with no problems and the truck was paid off in 2011. So in my opinion, J. D. Byrider have second rate mechanics on payroll that know basic repairs and nothing more.
They even had the nerve to tell my wife to take the vehicle somewhere and have someone look at it and then let them know what was found. WTF. But all your mechanics are supposed to be ASE certified whatever. I hope they can repair it but if not, and I am already upside down on this damn thing, so I might have to bite the bullet and trade it for something more reliable. WARNING. STAY AWAY FROM J.D. BYRIDER. If you don't, it will be the biggest mistake of your life.

I bought a car from this company because I needed a car. They asked for 300.00 down, ended up paying 1500.00 down through payments taken out of my account. My car is worth 2000.00 blue book value which I found out after I bought the car. I sucked it up and was still willing to pay since it was my own mistake not looking that up before buying the car. Had the car one week and the check engine light was on and the driver side window was stuck down. Took it in, said they fixed it. 5 days later, happened again. Back to the shop. 2 weeks later, back again. I think you get the picture.
Now though is the final straw. I'm at work, go to start the car and surprise, car will not even start. I called 5 times, no one would help and said manager would call me. Still hasn't 2 days later. I cannot afford to have it towed because they just took out another 240.00 for a bi-weekly payment. I will not continue to pay for something that doesn't even work. I have contacted a lawyer to get out of the contract and will not pay them another dime. I have already contacted another reputable dealership to get a better car. I think it is wrong for a company to do this to people. I'm sad, hurt and disappointed that this can go on legally.

Went to JD Byrider a year ago and got a Chevy Cobalt. The process was easy and my salesperson was very friendly. I forgot her name lol but the greatest part of my experience is Michael with CNAC. I've read plenty of reviews saying that they don't work with you when you're in a time of need but that is so untrue in my case. I should say I fell on hard times and my illness reoccurred and Michael and Ms. Kathy really is my saving grace! My car runs excellent and I haven't had any mechanical problems with it beside your normal oil change & brakes. I would recommend anybody go to JD Byrider if you have bad credit and not even bad credit good credit also. If you really want to work with people that's in the business of helping people and not get over on people.

I bought a 2007 Dodge Caliber from these people in March of 2014. And it’s the worst mistake I ever made. Every time I turn around I'm taking it back and forth for something or another to be fixed. In trying to trade the vehicle in I found out that the stuff that was supposed to be fixed never was. I figured all they do is piece it together to make you think it’s fixed until the warranty runs out - which isn't too much longer for me. This is without doubt the worst, misleading car dealer I have ever seen. First, to start, I was told that all you need is $500 dollars down. That is a lie. Once I picked out a car, then I was told that I needed $1000 dollars down for that car 2010 Ford Fusion with 108 thousand miles. Then they said that I had a $1100 more that I had to pay $270 every two weeks for five payments so that is $2100 dollars down. Then my payments of $199.00 every two weeks. They don't care one bit about making your payments affordable, all they are doing is seeing how much you make and how much they can jack you for every month.
Next their 24-month, 2400-mile warranty that every car comes with is **. It cost you $1700 dollars and does not cover all that much, and then pay $25.00 every time you need service. Lie #2. Now they videotaped paperwork then they try to get you to buy their insurance, which is twice as much as my own. Now it comes to do the registration paperwork, where the taxes come in. Who ever heard of paying $10.00 for a plate? It is included in the registration cost everywhere else in the world. All the taxes and reg cost are added to your loan, now you are paying interest at 23% on that for four years. I could not pay that upfront, was told they are not set up for that - more **.
Most of the cars they have there is something wrong with and they know there is but don't fix the problem because once you buy it it cost you $25.00 to bring it in so they can fix what they already know was broken. Pretty good scam, and that came from an ex-employee. So now my first payment came up, it was due on Thursday, and I did not remember to pay it so I was going down to pay it on Friday. I stopped at a store on my way there, came out of the store and my car was gone - not even 10 hours late.
They don't give two ** about helping people down on the luck or just have some bad credit. They will try to jack you for every dime they can get. It is two months and still have not gotten my registration tag and my windshield still needs to be fixed. The only thing I got, my car has not had any problems yet. So if you are smart, DO NOT do business with this company. Stay away from them.

I went in to JD Byrider on a Friday afternoon. The gentleman I spoke with was very kind, and very helpful. I have horrible credit, and I heard JD Byrider was a great place to go. So I told him my situation and how much money I had to put down on a car. I was in search of an SUV, but with my credit history and the amount of the down payment I had, they didn't have any SUV available, but they did have a cute little KIA Spectra. I took it for a test drive, drove wonderful. So I go in to do my paperwork, and I ask what is the total payment on the vehicle? I was told $11,000 give or take a few hundred. Ok, sounds good to me. So I finish all my paperwork, go to the financing area, they do a quick run thru with me again, sign more papers and I'm on my way with my new car.
Well, come Saturday my check engine light comes on. I freak out, call the dealership and ask what's the deal. They say go to Autozone have them check it out. Autozone says it's my transmission. By now I'm pretty upset. Have the car not even a total of 24 hours and my transmission is going out?? So I call the dealership again and they say I can't be seen until the next Monday, a total of 9 days away. I'm told I'm safe to drive the car.
So a couple days later I'm driving on the road and I hear a huge clonk and my car stops driving. Then it starts again but very sluggish. I took it to the dealership the same day and told them I wasn't driving that car until it's fixed. So the man tells me it's my Transmission, take my car home, and he'll call me to go back up there to make an appt. I said "No sir I left my car there and it's been there since." I finally had to call today to ask how my car was. Got a different technician who says it's not my transmission but a transmission control module. They are trying their best to find the exact same one, and then if it's still not fixed "we will go from there."
So I get upset and start looking thru my paperwork to see if I can get my deposit back, and I see the total price of the car is over $17,000. I don't have the money to go to a lawyer to try to get my money back, so it looks like I am stuck with a car that doesn't run properly, seriously overpriced, or I just forget about my deposit and let them keep the car. She had everything in order and overall she had a great personality. Every question I asked she answered and if she wasn't sure she went and she found out so she wouldn't give false information. I bought a car from JD Byrider in 2014. I have been paying on this 2006 Ford Taurus for over a year, have never missed a payment. I put down 1200, and currently have about 8,000 left to pay maybe even more. I pay 183.00 every two weeks. I was told this payment is based off of me and my ex-fiance’s income and bills. He and I just had a daughter and my car broke down. I bought a new car the same day my old one crapped out. I had no choice. But we were told monthly payments are based off of our other bills we pay which would help lower the payments, which 183.00 wasn't so bad every two weeks. But then he and I split. I have asked them to remove his name and so has he, from the title, as I am the one who now continues to make the payments on my own and I am the one that drives the vehicle.
They refuse to do this. They did not give us a reason. They just danced around the question to avoid giving an answer. As a single mother I have other bills now on my own that I am falling behind on. My rent, my car insurance, my own medical bills and daughters as well. I asked if they could take him off the car and lower the payments after re-evaluating MY bills alone. He has great credit. I on the other hand do not. So to have them repo my car and take it would be fine with me.
But I am not going to ** his credit. The way I see it is if they could just lower it down 20-30 bucks I would be completely happy. They are getting their money either way. But I thought if my ex and I went there and signed his name off together, then that would be alright. But then again I don't know much about cars or dealerships. I am a young mother, did what I had to do. 4 months ago my exhaust just completely fell off going down the road. My engines rev really high, over heats, and brake fluid has always had an issue. It leaks and I have to refill every week until we find the leak! I would not recommend them. But I just wish they would cooperate a little better with me on the payments seeing as I am the only one paying on it!!!

I recently went to J.D. Byrider to see about getting a car. I am 23 years old, I don't make the most money, and I didn't make some good choices when I was younger, so my credit isn't the best for a car loan. My last car broke down and repairing it wasn't an option, so I was told by a couple people that they would be able to work with me on a down payment. I went to the location in Burlington, Iowa, and when I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly and inviting employee. She sat me down and went through my information with me. She really helped me feel at ease and told me that because they have a bank they work with in-house, financing me should not be a problem and she would be my "representative" on getting me into a reliable vehicle.
The person from the bank came in a short time later and walked through my budget. I try to live pretty cheaply so I do not have a lot of expenses. He told me the down payment I had would not be a problem and that he was going to take my income, references, down payment, and budget and come back in a few minutes to start test driving cars. I felt relieved and my anxiety was completely gone and I started looking at potential cars I wanted... He returned about ten minutes later and told me that I have the budget, the income, and the job history to be approved, but I "lack stability" and because this is a high risk loan, I would be required to have my parent co-sign for me. (I brought my mom with me). We sat and talked with the guy forever about how it makes no sense on my lack of stability, when I was told numerous times that credit is not a factor and if I have the approved budget, there is no reason why I should need a cosigner.
The once friendly female employee piped up in a snappy tone that "It doesn't matter how much money you have left over at the end of the month. We are saying that your income isn't the issue here.." I basically concluded that if I needed a cosigner because I couldn't be trusted to make payments on a car, then I would go to an actual car dealership and get the car I wanted at a lower monthly payment. They told me if I change my mind, to come back anytime and they will work with me... Yeah right. Like you worked with me this time? I was completely mislead and told everything was fine and workable, and then treated like I wasn't trustworthy enough to make the payments on a car. I can see why they have a 46% approval rate. It seems like it's just a catch 22 with these people. I will gladly save up some more money and go to a credible car dealership that will work with me. I wouldn't use these guys as a first option.

So I went to J. D. Byrider this past weekend. After spending the day at a private owned finance lots w/ no success, I decided to try out at JD Byrider that I had passed on the way home. I had heard about them having a good financing team and being able to get basically anyone in a car, both of which is true. The application process although a little long, was nice and painless, the finance part was as well. After about 2 hours there, they approved me and told me about 3 cars that they thought would be a good fit for me. I drove 2 of the 3, a Chevy Impala and Ford Fusion. I decided to go with a Ford Fusion 08. Nice solid car, clean ride! I then had to wait a few minutes while they printed out the payment plan info. We then went in to close the deal and talk about payments. I had 1k down for the car, which they "worked with". As I received the payment info form, I READ $14,225!!! 14 THOUSAND DOLLARS, for an 08 FORD FUSION!
I liked this car, but there is NO FORD car from 7 years ago that is worth 14k! JD Byrider is really really great at putting people in overpriced cars and making you feel like they are doing you a favor. Not to mention they wanted me to pay $225 every WEEK for my first 8 weeks, since they wanted 2k for the down payment and I only had 1k!
So after realizing these ridiculous prices for their fairly decent (at best) car selection, I decided not to take the car. I know people are desperate for approval for a car but I am not. For 14k, there are fairly brand new cars that you can buy. I mean hell, you can find a 2014 Ford Fusion for around the same price, maybe less, and other 2013/2014 cars for less, so the idea that I would buy a 2008 fusion for 14k, and be stuck with it for 4 years is ridiculous.
I will say they have awesome finance team and salesmen. Also nice office building with clean and comfortable waiting area. It sucks that such a great "buy here pay here" finance dealership/car lot has to sell cars as such an unfair complete ripoff prices. Crazy thing is the cars on the lot that I liked the most (Newer fusion, a couple malibu's and an avenger), they said was in another "tier bracket". Now I can't imagine the price for those cars that were 2 years newer at the most than the 08 fusion they tried to put me in! If you are in need of a car, and absolutely does NOT care about pricing for cars, go here or continue saving until you have enough that any dealer will work with b/c money talks, and 14k said A LOT!

I took my car back several times because I was concerned about the brakes your service department installed. The pedal kept going way far down and the brakes made a nasty noise... Never felt secure. I was told I hadn't given them enough time to "break in", water got into the wheels from all the rain and that was the explanation for the horrible noise I heard. I didn't use my emergency brake enough so that was why I KEPT hearing that horrible noise. But maybe, just maybe it was the fact that my hardware for my brakes was MISSING? I got the news today after taking the car in to get the brakes replaced. My mechanic is baffled. Said he couldn't believe an actual service department type garage left the hardware off and didn't catch the mistake or at least FIX it... He'd seen a better job by weekend mechanics. You sent a mom with 3 kids off in a car that wasn't safe over and over again.
I'd already sworn your service department off after. The department had my car for over a week and I drove out of there with the service engine light still on... Repairs that were never made. I kept smelling a fuel smell and was told I had a dirty air filter or I had gotten gas on my clothes and maybe needed my interior steamed. No. I in fact had a fuel line leak... Thankfully it didn't catch fire before it was fixed. Then there was the time I went to pick up my car and someone had driven it through white paint. OK that was a little funny that no one but me noticed the car was COVERED in white paint. Oh and I almost forgot you installed new brake lights and the light FELL OFF while I was driving down the road. Again someone had forgot some hardware in putting it back on. I like the people working there and genuinely feel that they just have to meet your requirements of fix as many cars as fast as possible without any accuracy.
No re-fixes because that would mess up the quota etc. Lucky and Bella were always nice to me, and even apologized personally. So I hope they didn't knowingly send me off in a car that was missing parts required for brakes to safely work. Thankfully I was careful with my brakes and even more so thankful I could finally afford to have them replaced again. But I'm out $$$ to replace an entire hardware kit. I'm posting here because I was told once again that the manager would be in the next day and I could call back then. This was the go to for any problems. Same happened before "Betty's not in today. "The new manager that replaced Betty isn't in today" and on so... So I have some time while my mechanic is hunting that hardware kit down to post my experience and wonder if anyone there is willing to at least covered the parts that your mechanics LEFT OFF MY CAR???
I paid off my car with 26% interest from credit left in shambles after a divorce. Please rethink places like this. I know what it's like to be desperate for a car. I was without one for 6 months. But what you end up paying way more than you could ever really afford. Right now I have more in needed repairs to the engine than the car is worth. These are repairs they could've handled while it was still under warranty, but then again I was told I didn't have an oil leak or needed those repairs. They were partially right. I had way more than ONE oil leak. That shadiness I can believe, but to send me off in a car with brakes that weren't safe because of negligence, I'm disgusted.

I had traded in my Suburban and Dan ** said they would give me $1,500 for it. He applied $500 of it to the payments to make them lower, but didn't apply the $1000 for the down payment. So they were charging me $170.00 deferred down payment, bi-weekly till august. In august my payments would've been $1 less bi-weekly. Deferred also means postponed too. Well, my hours and days at my job got cut down and Dan didn't wanna work with me and redo the paperwork. At first he had asked me if $145 to $170 was ok and I had thought that he meant monthly so I said that was fine. This all happened at J.D. Byrider in Dover, Ohio. So they repoed the dodge caravan last night. I would've been paying over $16,000 for it altogether for the 2006 caravan when a new one cost $20,000. They don't go through a finance company. CNAC finance is J.D. Byrider and they charge 24% interest on their vehicles.

So I arrived and came inside the building. Went to sit down and when I say these chairs were nasty I truly mean that they were gross. All of them had stains and looked old and I didn't want to even sit on them but I did.
The place design wasn't inviting or cute at all. It was sloppy and just ragged to be frank. Every worker in the building was racing around in sort of a panic mode. I was starting to see too many flaws and wanted to leave but stayed because where else can I get a car leased at. It took these people two whole hours just to gather my information asking questions. By that point I was tired because I had just came from work before arriving there so I asked them if I could return the next day. This car dealership caters to low income families. They charge you triple the amount of the car. If you're one week late, they will repo the vehicle and you will still have that remaining balance. Please don't do it. Save and go to the auction. They also promise to repair your vehicle and won't. Most of your repairs will not be covered under the warranty. The first year they will keep the car running. By the second year it is falling apart and nothing will be covered. Your paying for junk . Don't do it!!!

I got an '08 Focus from them a few months ago. I had no issues with the car running. I have had massive issues with CNAC the last few days. When I got my car I was a temp and told them I'm being hired the next week or so. They said "that's fine" and gave me the car anyways. When I got hired I had to provide proof because my payment day needed to be changed. Because of this they ended up refinancing the car; whatever, didn't really care. Well I got laid off a week after being hired because I broke my ankle. My job was still there. It would just be a liability for me to be at work injured. Now, during this time I still made payment. I made a cash payment at the dealer for the first payment. My second payment during this time is where it gets annoying. I have my paycard and as soon as the money hits I take it off unless a bill is coming off.
Well, with me not getting a paycheck I completely forgot there was no money on the card for them to take their payment. My payment is due on a Friday. They did not contact me until Monday about this issue. They called my references but never me. I called them back Monday to see what was going on. They wouldn't even talk to me. They said the address I gave them when I got the car was invalid and they demanded my current address. I gave them a random address and said I was crashing at a friends. Then they hung up on me. I got annoyed and tried to make payment online. I was told my account was not in the standing to have a payment made (what does that even mean?). So I called them first thing Tuesday to try to make payment on the phone. After being transferred through 4 people, I finally got someone willing to take care of me.
He refused my payment as well because they needed income verification, which they had. But I agreed to go to the dealer with the paperwork but I had to be at work so he said that it'd be fine to go the next day. I asked him to take payment. He said "no" that they wouldn't accept it till they had the paperwork. I repeatedly asked him if my car would be repossessed when I went in to make the payment. He kept telling me "no". He hung up with me and another lady called confirming I would be at the dealer with the paperwork the next day with my payment. I woke up the next day, was about to walk out the door when I heard a pounding on my door. I look out and see my car on a tow truck. The two guy said he'd drop the car if he got the okay from the loan company, so I called them.
I had to reexplain the situation to this lady even though it was all in my notes. She ended up trying to connect me to a manager, which conveniently was not available and was on vacation or some crap. So she told me to make arrangements to get to the dealer and my car would be waiting. Well, I called back after the car was towed and asked what the process was. She told me they'd need documents stating I worked, insurance (even though I had their insurance she said that is only secondary insurance), and a copy of my lease.
Then the manager would need to approve me getting the car back after payment was made. I said okay and got off the phone to gather the documents and fax them. When I faxed them I called to verify they received them, and the lady demanded I repeat the whole situation to her and she got really nasty. She kept telling me that since they cannot have a paper trail of where the money came from to make this payment and the cash payment, they would not accept the payment. I kept telling her savings and she said that was not an acceptable answer.
Then she explained the reclaim process to me all over again and this time it would be two weeks for me to get my car back because it would need a service order placed on it to receive a tracker, and I would have a repo fee to pay as well. Then she told me that the odds are not in my favor because they do not understand where the funds come from (even though I have a job) and that I do not have a stable address. She asked me my current address and I told her to ask the recovery agent because he sure as hell knew where to find my car. By the end of the conversation she told me a repossession order had been placed on my car Friday at noon.
So on my payment due date they tried reclaiming my car. She also said it seemed I did not care if I got the care back or not. Spending the whole day on the phone with them and attempting to make payment several times equals me not wanting my car back? Okay. The next day I had a missed call from them asking if I planned on making payment and to follow up. I told this rep that they had my car and I was trying to reclaim it. She explained they didn't have the proper documentation that they yet to see where my income is coming from. She ended up hanging up on me, so I called back and got placed on hold for 15 minutes at which point I gave up and hung up. They have not made anymore contact with me. I'm still in the 48 hour manager approval period. So I guess this is a waiting game.
I have never been treated this way as a paying customer. To blatantly refuse payment several days then repossess my car? They are absolute crooks. I have several people telling me to get a lawyer seeing as I kept trying to give them payment and they just making me later and later and now I have all these extra hoops to jump through. I have another car so after fighting I really don't even care anymore if I get the car back. I would just like to not deal with them anymore.

Made my first deferred down payment on time but before the second one came due, I had a major emergency with one of my kids. Because they told me when I purchased the car to call ahead of time if I was was having trouble with paying on time so they could work with me, I did just that. They were so rude and wanted me to send copies of records to "verify" my emergency. I said I would see what I could do but that I still couldn't pay until my next paycheck, but that I would make two payments. I paid exactly when I said I would. When the next payment was due, I was still behind from having to take care of my child's problem.
The next thing I knew, my car was repo'd. And when I called to make arrangements to redeem the vehicle (by law in MS, they have to allow this unless you sign something that says you forfeit, and I signed no such thing), I was told no by a very rude employee, because, as she put it, her boss had already told me that if I was late again that, I would forfeit the car (I was never told this). She called me uncooperative, and told me there was nothing I could do about it. She claimed to have left me several messages (she left ONE message) on my cell. (I stated emphatically when I bought the car that if they had to call me for any reason, to call my office because we are not allowed to have cell phones in the office where I work.) She stated it was not their responsibility to ever call me. I took them their keys and retrieved personal items from the car. (A pair of my sunglasses were missing.) This happened today. So he didn't need my car anymore. So I call them and tell them I'm gonna bring it back and explain why. He gets all pissy with me and tells me that I can't bring it back and what not. So I brought up the grace period and he hung up on me. I told them I'd bring it back the next day before noon and they said it was fine.
Well my husband and I go out to dinner the same night and come back and the van is gone. I texted the guy who sold me the car and asked if they had come and got it or not. He said no. And continued to ask why I was returning it. I called the next day and they said they never came and got it. It took me 3 days to figure out where my car had gone. I bought a car from JD Byrider August 2013. Within 2 months I started having problems. Every 3 months my car starts to overheat. Each time I take to JD Byrider they replace the thermostat. I told them it's not thermostat. I have had my car for almost 2 years now. It's been in their shop 8-9 times just for overheating, that not to mention couple other times for other related things. So you mean to tell me after 8-9 times you still think it's the thermostat (I had 5 new thermostat), once they fixed heating coil. Now my head gasket is blown. You know they don't really care about you or helping your credit. That is just sales pitch to get your business. Of course they are going to be nice and seem like they care to get you to buy their car. However, once you're in the contract they don't have to be nice anymore.
I even spoke with Vice-President of JD Byrider last year. Even though he was upset that he was wasting his money replace my thermostat over and over. He still didn't keep his word that he'd make sure that his shop fixed the issue for me. He told me "I'll call them, you take your car in tomorrow. You'll be top priority." Yea right. He never called them. This company is a joke, and list other review stated the cars are overpriced the KBB (Kelly Blue Book) price for most the cars are around 3,000-4,000 and JD Byrider sales them for 11,000-12,000. They say it's to help you build credit, we give a warranty. It's a limited warranty that don't coverage everything it should, and guess what you are paying for the warranty. Because if you don't think that 11,000-12,000 you're paying for car don't include the so called warranty, you are a fool.
Then your car note is 350-450 a month but your car keep breaking down so you can't get to work to pay. I have never missed a payment or even been late, do you think they care? Nope. I still get same bad customer services as everyone else. Please do not buy from them, check the KBB on the cars. Read all the reviews!! Do your homework first. I know sometimes you have no option and you just really need a car, however in the long run you're getting to regret it. Because if you don't happen to have good job that you make good money at and your car always breaking down and you're missing work you're going to lose your car and then you're going have that reported to your credit for total amount of the car.
So with their high interest, high car price, most people are probably paying total of 18,000 to 20,000 for a car that KBB is 3,000 to 4,000. Even when your credit starts to go up for on-time payments your care value is so low you can't refinance with big dealership because you're upside down so much! So please be smart. Don't fall victim like I did!!

I know I have also paid for the insurance for over a year now, and they owe me the money to either fix my car or keep the money for other needs, as in a car payment if needed.
They are charging me over $12000 for a car that has a book value of less than $4000. If there is any way I can get rid of this debt and keep my car, please let me know. I'm not trying to get a free car, but I've paid over $4000 for it so far and it still says I owe over $9000 and I believe their insurance is also a fraud. I've sent them all the info for my damage and they are taking their time in paying me for it.

I purchased a 2007 Ford Focus from J.D. Byrider in October of 2013. I have made my payments on-time every time since then. I know I am paying way too much for this vehicle in the first place. My credit was not the best so I didn't have a lot of choices. The vehicle has always had an idling problem - when I stop at stop lights or stop signs, it revs up and down fast. It also has always made a noise when I turn, like the tire is rubbing against the tire wall. I've told them numerous times about these problems and they always say the same thing when I bring it in for them to look at. They can't find the problem and there's nothing they can do about it. I honestly feel taken advantage of. I feel like they have taken advantage of a lot of people. They don't fix anything and they are rude most of the time. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Well, to start off with when I got the car I came in with 1,500.00 down payment and was known I couldn't afford a car payment too much over 300$ a month. Somehow they deferred my down payment for 2 months then so I could make a weekly payment because I had to have a down payment of $2,500.00 but today may 28th I asked if there was a way to get a deferred payment for my payment coming up for personal reasons and they didn't have anything for hardships, the payment had to be made and they did not have any type of grace period of any kind. My loan has never been late except around the first of December.
I was making the deferred down payment on my lunch break (due every Friday, and I had to moneygram the payment). On the way to make the payment as always I realized I had left the cash for the payment in my child's diaper bag over 30 miles away at my grandmother's house . I was on my lunch break and there was no way I could drive all that way to get the money out her diaper bag and drive all the way back then moneygram the money in time. I didn't get off until 7:00 that night and they would be closed by then. I called and talked to my account manager whom may I add is very much a smart mouth person who always has something Rude to say and told her the situation and asked if I could moneygram it the next morning. She explained how that could not be and then said that my car would be out for repo.
Working in finance with cars knowing the laws of having to be behind 10days and then a letter called a right to cure as to be sent out and the right to cure has to be sent as a certified letter giving 20 days to make payment or vehicle then could be repo. Of Course I never would be behind on a payment on purpose. Also never would a thought that someone Could be so heartless. They must be the only people in the world that don't come across problems in their life, it is just not right. Back to JD BYrider knowing I couldn't afford much over a 300$ car payment, the payments where set up on bi-weekly payments of 176.00 and was set up as direct deposit.
Knowing the payments a month would be around 350.00 I agreed but not knowing that some months have 5 weeks in them and with 5 weeks In a month that has the payment of 176.00 coming out 3 times. That is 540.00 a month, that was not explained and I don't think that was right at all either. Why would anyone want to put someone on a payment that high after the person had said what they could afford much over 300$? The car was sold to me for 10,000.00 and after I purchased the vehicle I looked the value of the vehicle up and To my surprise JD Byrider of Columbia had charged me almost double what the vehicle was worth.
I have never meet people that honestly do not care about things that may happen in a normal life like setbacks. Things happen sometimes that are beyond people's control but that does not mean that we are bad people or even trying to get over on anyone. Personally I don't ever want to have to be late but sometimes things happen. I am trying to figure out a way to let future customer of theirs let them know how heartless and dirty these people are!!! I must say there is a new manager in the mechanic area and he happens to not fit in with the rest of JD Byriders of Columbia people because he is caring and does want to help people and treats people very well. As far as everyone else I have run into are just out to get people for everything we are worth. WATCH OUT and remember they are not the only buy here pay here place!!!

When I got there they took the keys from me leaving myself and my child stranded 2 hours from home in a monsoon. She told me, I just had to come make the payment in person knowing damn well what she was going to do. Also come to find out the salesperson ** had "lost" money he was suppose to give to the in house insurance company that they deal with. First let me say that it is laughable that this company is BBB affiliated. It is a subsidiary of Dan Nelson & should be shut down. All they do is take advantage of people in bad situations & have bad credit. I leased a 2003 Alero from J.D. Byrider in March of 2014. I had no real other option while I was waiting for my Gap insurance to pay off the remaining balance on my 2010 Caliber that was totaled (I was rear-ended). Upon completion of my installment payments used as a down payment for the vehicle poles occurred. The rubbers seal holding in my windshield was cracked & completely detached from the vehicle. Every time I hit a bump the glass raddled. When I complained, they simply glued the rubber seal back down. It came loose again 3 months later. There was and still is a short in the hazard connector so my headlights and turn signals do not work. Not to mention the paint chipping. This car made me nervous to have my children ride in.
If I was late on a payment they would call me at work 5-6 times a day and my references as well. My boss finally got so pissed he told them I no longer worked there. I tried to trade the car in for a more reliable vehicle but no dealership could help me as I still owed over $9000 on the car. Did I mention I was paying $18000 (24% interest rate) for a car that was worth maybe $2000 on a good day. My 2010 Caliber cost less. I never received any notice saying I was in jeopardy of having the car repoed but I eventually stopped making full payments and let J.D. Byrider rip off repo the car. It wasn't worth the shotty repairs, constant harassment or the $9000 they wanted me to pay on it. Also make sure to keep all your receipts for proof of your payments.

I took it to JD Byrider and a run around was given to me as it being a used car like really I didn't know that. I was told I had to call service dept. and make an appt which probably be at least two weeks down the like. So I was leaving but couldn't because keep dying so they agreed to look at it. I was told next day transmission bad, had ordered one so they would have it ready in a few days. So of course I am having to get rides to work. He never tried to pressure me into buying the most expensive car, he was thinking about me, not his commission. I test drove a few vehicles and chose a Chevrolet Venture 2004. He gave me a carfax type report showing that the vehicle had not been in any accidents or water damage. Went thru the maintenance that they offered like free oil changes for the length of my contract. Also, a 3-yr 36,000 mile warranty on all major parts, with just a 25.00 deductible. So I did what a friend had to me to do-- put an ad on Craigslist saying looking for a car and such and such. So I did. About 5 maybe 6 hours later I get a text from someone and her question was "are you looking good to finance a vehicle and help with your credit?" I text back "YES." Got a text back that she works for JD and was willing to help and I said "OK can you tell about the dealership and kind of cars that were available?" Lady send me a URL. I followed it, they didn't have much to show.
I was looking for an SUV. All they had was 1 showing and a bunch of other cars. Didn't show any prices like all the other dealership do or any information about them. Then she says "all you need is a 500 dollar down-payment." I was OK with that, told her I would come in next week when we had off. She text me back a few days later and tells me "we have these cars available" and only needed 30 dollars instead, that they wouldn't have a problem approving us.
I was all happy and was thanking God for this break. We have been without a car for months, walking everywhere, paying to cab fare and bus fare. But I had this funny feeling it's just too good to be true when I was laying in bed thinking and it sunk in. Before I do business with some place I look them up for their ratings and I haven't done that yet so kind got out of bed, looked them up and I find all this and I'm thinking to myself "oh my God, what did I get myself into."
I said nope not happening, look at my fiance and said "sorry but we can't go there." We read on and we both agreed it's not the best idea. They called in the morning to see if we were still coming in. We told them what we had read and how we are sorry but we will not do business with them. The lady was beyond nasty with us on the phone and gave us attitude. She tried to talk us into coming in and we asked if she would like to explain these accusations. She said everyone has bad and good reviews and I told her I have yet to find a good one. She asked us again if we would please come in and they will help us we said no. The lady practically slammed the phone as she hung up on us. I would like to thank everyone for the advice and all these warnings because if it wouldn't had been for all this I probably would of been another poor sucker fighting with them and I really can't afford to go through all that.

So I'm thinking like, "You mean to tell me I can't pick out my own car and I'm supposed to be paying 12,000 for it which is gonna take up to 3 years?!"
I haven't even had the car for a year yet and the motor went out on the side door so therefore I have to lock door on the driver's side from the outside with the key. Ridiculous! So I went to the service department and they said warranty doesn't cover that. So right, my door is still messed up. And one night I was stranded outside my friend house. Told them “my fiancé and I had a 2001 Cadillac together”, although I was under the impression by the company that all I needed was $200 or $300 for down payment. I was told they couldn't help me unless I traded in my Cadillac which I knew needed work but couldn't afford at the time. I told them “I didn't want to trade vehicle in because it wasn't only in my name and that I'd rather make down payment with cash.” They went up on down payment and requested $650 down and still insisted that I trade my Cadillac in or else they weren't going to help me. I have children and HAD a job at the time, lost the job due to the fact that the vehicle I signed paperwork for with JD byrider was always at their repair center from day 2 of signing.
Transmission wasn't properly changing gears, motor began knocking loudly on day 2 or three. I contacted BBB and the Attorney General's office because company claimed they saw nor heard nothing wrong with vehicle. I have video footage and photos, I showed this to CNAC and they pretended to be so upset by it, they told me they'd allow me out of the contract with no refund when I had not had vehicle for two weeks, not even one week. I went in and signed off on the junk. After they received notice from BBB, they contacted me in January apologizing and pretending they didn't know who told me they couldn't help me either get a better vehicle or refund. They told me their inventory was limited and that they would contact me once something came in.
They called me to test drive a vehicle which gears wouldn't change on highway and car was smoking badly. I returned vehicle and was called the next morning to test drive another. I test drove this one and felt like it was OK. Remind you, by now the date is January 23rd 2015, I was without transportation for 2-3 weeks because of their corrupt ways. I left with the vehicle on a Friday and called back Saturday morning with concerns with the vehicle. Transmission issues, engine light keeps coming on and they're only resetting it, wheel was dangling and about to come off - had to get it towed to JD byrider. Now the other wheel is still dangling, engine light is on for the fourth time in less than two months, and 3rd gear doesn't kick in on highway.
This company treats me so poorly as far as making a bad situation right, they've even made wise cracks about me in front of my children adding that they're sick of me bringing their tragedy vehicle back and forth. One of the repair guys went on test drive with me and stated he knows how I feel, he understands and he sees how this company treats their customers and that he doesn't even tell people who he works for because he's too ashamed. Currently BBB and Attorney General are involved in this matter and I'm just hoping to get a portion of my money back so that I can get any type of vehicle elsewhere that my children and I can depend on. I'm still looking for a new job but can't get around as much as I like simply because my vehicle resides on JD byrider's parking lot more than it does with me. HELP.
The owner even pushed his repair manager up to having a sit down meeting with me only to tell me that his boss said he wants to sever all ties with me because he's upset that I'd contacted BBB and Attorney General on his company. I told him “fine, just give me my money back”, repair guy says “oh he told me to tell you that you'll get nothing back because you drove his car but he'd let you out of the contract he just wants you to go on”. I told him “there's no way I'm walking away that easily after giving my down payment, my car and payments on this trash every two weeks - no way. I want justice.” The next day I needed to take vehicle back to JD byrider again and repair manager told me “the owner said from now on to start charging you for everything.”
I told him “these are issues that were going on prior to me even knowing of this vehicle and also that your company claimed to have repaired when I did bring it back that are still problematic, issues were never resolved and I believe owner is spending less as possible to make it right deliberately.” This company preys on the less fortunate and are getting away with it... She told me I had to make the payment or "they would come to get my car". I again explained the situation and reiterated my good payment history. She just didn't care and again threatened me by repossession. Also I don't know how it slipped by me but my $7,000 car is some how costing me $20k. I just noticed the interstate rate. Go elsewhere if you can. This place preys on people and is a rip off.

So I bought a 2004 Hyundai Elantra from JD on April 2014. One month later brakes are squeaking, tail lights are out. Took it to them. Warranty doesn't cover it.. Okay I paid out of pocket. Not too bad. About a month later whenever the car is in reverse it makes a really loud noise. Take it back they actually paid for the steering wheel pump. Two months later my car just cuts off while driving. Get it towed to JD. They can't find nothing wrong. Okay I feel better. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. Two days later it does it again. They had to send it to Hyundai dealership. Come to find out it's the PCM which of course is not under warranty. 1,300 I have to pay, get the car back starts smoking. Now the radiator is cracked and just found out the engine is no good. This is the worst mistake I ever made. Been better off catching the bus.

I will start by admitting there's a lot of underhanded things that were done to write about and we feel ashamed of our naivety. My husband's final signing of the finance papers should have included a better reading of paperwork itself & less trust that what he'd been told would be reflected in It. If he had done so, we would not have made our vehicle purchase. I believe my story mirrors many others. So here it is in detail from day 1-6. My ratings are based on current experience pre-during-post sale.. It may not pertain wholly to every location or JD as a brand but it seems the practices I list are universal. Should it improve I will note with consumer affairs. It's worth the long read & I detail the sales process to hopefully assist new buyers.
We went to the South Attleboro MA location looking for an SUV with not good credit but good income two yrs running. They would only outfit him in a car or they had an HHR but we'd have to drive to Sutton (50 min away) for the test drive. He said they include a two yr warranty that covers everything & the cost kills him on SUVs so too much risk for them w/ less than stellar credit. Note: we ended up being told that 2 yr warranty was going to cost US $2000 on the car which isn't what he was told during original pitch. The car had dents, had obviously swiped something & was scratched. He said no accidents and gave us the title search. Rust on hatch, bad rims, inside was terrible. Actual nail polish painted on headrest & seats and it hadn't been detailed.
We were taken aback as his last words the day prior were that the difference between them and other dealerships was a great warranty and cars reconditioned like New. New rims, brakes, full detail. He promised it was mid servicing & would be taken care of Monday. My car is now not expected back until Thursday. When we called our nice as pie sales rep (the sales Supervisor in both Sutton & South Attleboro MA) he treated my husband like a dirty band-aid. Said we could forget having it detailed. Luckily, we were smart & had that guarantee written in to our contract. They've now had it five of the 7 days you have pre inspection and to claim return based on lemon law. :( Awaiting return & fearing the quality of work. Their body shop (which is Maco btw) said they didn't write it up as priority.
Regardless, I was nervous for signing about the sudden addition of 2000 bucks for a warranty & the fact that originally the loan was two yrs but bumped to 4 and monthly didn't go down. He said it would be financed but in my eyes that's 19+% interest on top of the 2000. They also used that warranty quote to excuse and pad the excessive finance charge. Regardless, my fears made me sure I confirmed it was a simple interest loan at a flat rate of 19% & base price of car was 8600. Then I asked final cost once all was said and done. My numbers didn't match his number of over 14600 he said we'd pay for car (actually now almost 17,000 after warranty and my down payment added in) & he kept telling me I didn't understand interest on loans. I said it was simple interest yet he kept describing compound.
Since simple interest is on base price how did it double? He said I was doing it incorrectly. What he failed to mention was our final cost included over 5000 (yes, five thousand on a 8000 car Plus interest at top tier of over 19%) in Finance charges just to Finance & my down payment secured the 8600 car cost. Meaning the car was actually 9600. It gets worse though...
When I reviewed paperwork post my husband's signing (after 4 Hrs I needed to leave to pick up our daughter so wasn't present for signing) I noted their breakdown listed our VEHICLE COST at 10,600 with 0$ cost for warranty rather than the 8600 base price of the car. (This assists them in lemon law as well as upping an excessive finance charge we were told didn't exist at JD after questioning the surcharge at another dealer.) Also noted interest rate wasn't a flat 19%. It was 19.989 AND even though I confirmed our down payment came off principal it was on Top of all costs added at end & did not come right off base price of vehicle.
They offered my husband as incentive to purchase only $500 down but actually deferred the rest at 150 every other week. He'll still pay almost 1000 on down and it was only deferred for 5 weeks.. but monthly his payments went up 12$. Multiply that times 50 & it doesn't seem so small. You can typically only defer a loan 1-3 times. It ups your monthly but you still pay. Deferring day one rarely benefits the buyer. My husband thought they were trying to make the sale so what was 500 less on base price but a loss of principal down? :/ They were taking away a deferment opportunity.
A few questions I would recommend as a buyer you ask up front.. "May I record you during your sales pitch?" They will handle all proceedings out front in their office. When it is time to sign paperwork they will have you watch a short film explaining what you can expect to occur. They will also have you sign paperwork saying you will be recorded. Tell them you approve but would like to record the proceedings for yourself as well. They will bring you to a separate room where the video says the finance officer will assist you. If the sales person walks you to your seat then enters again on the opposite side and says "Hello" like he's not met you before... run. At least the finance guy will explain the loan better. The sales rep just continued with his shady pitch of lies. At minimum, be wary. This room is recorded.
This is the time before inking to ask all your questions & confirm verbally what you were told in front office about interest percentage, final vehicle cost, use & application of your down payment and what the finance charges will actually be. You can walk away at this point. Fatigue has set in. You've grown numb to the numbers & can sign the loan tomorrow if you change your mind. But once they have your Hancock you become an incidental & niceties go out the window. If you were misled outside then they will need to clear that up, on film if you ask these questions. Don't feel rushed.
They've likely just occupied four plus hrs of your day wearing you down. They can wait for you to go grab a coffee & read the paperwork. There's a reason this set up takes place. It protects them but does nothing for you. And there's a reason only the back room is recorded, darker than the rest, they find ways to keep you there presale for over 4 hrs so your exhausted & likely where you will sign away your soul.
My husband listened to what was said, but did not read well what was written. His sales rep WAS the finance rep that day. 19% interest became 19.98. (That's a big difference in Finance charge calculations & total additional owed.) That down payment we were told would come off principal was actually added to the base price we were given for the car. We were sold a 2009 HHR for approx list of 8600. But will actually pay almost 17000.
So questions to ask loudly during final signing & confirm is written as stated in it contract & after your question of can I record YOU.. Interest rate? Cost for 2 yr warranty? Total additional Finance charges? Listed base price of vehicle? How is down payment applied to that? Total actual loan request. If they charged you for warranty desperately. Confirm it is listed as such & not all under unit price of vehicle. Get your sales rep's name, card, title, yrs company & check all reviews. As I believe they have a way to alter their BBB review using employee feedback posing as clientele. Best wishes & good luck!! JD - Just Don't.

I bought a car from JD Byrider almost a month ago. The day after I bought the car, the belts started squealing. I made an appointment to get the belts changed. Their first open day was exactly three weeks away. Already dropping 10 grand on a car, I feel I should not have to fix any problems that occur right after buying the car. Three weeks I listened to squealing belts.... When the time came I finally brought the car in to get the belts fixed... Complaining that the car should have been inspected before it was sold to me. They apologized profusely and said “things happen with cars”, and that it was not their fault at all. After they took my car into the shop after a two hour wait, they came out and told me that I needed to come back into the shop and show them where the squealing noises were coming from.
I came back there and looked at the belts. Both were replaced, but they denied ever changing them. Physically two people saw all the cracks in the belts before I brought it into the shop. They denied fixing it, even though they had put a new belt on it. After sitting down and feeling pretty much like a fool and that I did not know anything. They charged me $25 to look under the hood to diagnose it.

I've had to do no mechanical work on this vehicle the entire time. It still fires up with a single turn of the key. I was late on a couple payments due to circumstances beyond my control but CNAC did NOT repo my truck nor did they threaten to. As long as I stayed in touch with them they worked with me and helped me work it out. I'm sorry, but from what I've read a lot of NOT ALL, but a lot of the bad experiences I've read about have been brought on by the customer themselves and seems like they could have been avoided. My radiator was cracked. J D couldn't cover it. Figures! Paid 1000 plus to get it fixed, hoses, etc because Firestone showed me HOW RUSTED IT WAS. Then, I returned my temporary plates to them, and months later I have 600$ of tickets coming to my mail box while I'm out of state. I called- complained, said “I never received temps, I brought my own.” But I showed them photos, still denied it. Now, I was arrested in 2-14 & I caught my payments up. I moved to another city and I got arrested in 8-14 due to a warrant. I got behind and I caught up in 2-15. So 2 representatives that was on my account said pay 300 and my account would be current. I paid it and two days later, my car is towed!!
The guy in car recovery or whatever it is was snobby. **, I told him I didn't understand how I'm 186 days behind when I had payment dates changed and in the state of WI, our first contract is voided if it was. Then all my interest was removed by a supervisor, they said “all the people who changed this, had lied.” So I told them “I’m removing my things out the car, they could keep it.” I wasn't paying 1300 dollars on that car. Then the front end was damaged more after towing it. So, I just said no. Auction it, do whatever because they towed it illegally. I had no right to cure papers or anything. I was told it would continue to come out of the original account unless I called otherwise and that the second account was not on file. I guess they LIED! Every other payment which is every other week, I guess they play eeny, meeny, miny, moe- with my bank accounts as to which one they are going to debt. Even though they supposedly only have the "one" on file.
I have called several time to straighten this out and each time they pass the buck to someone else. They have also taken out an insurance payment without my knowledge for no legitimate reason. I thought we had gotten that straightened out. They have since continued to do this several time, for absolutely no reason!. They said they could not put the money back in my account but would correct it on the next payment. One time they actually did that, other times I have had to call and remind them they actually ask me to do that. I thought that was their job. I totally regret ever doing business with them!!

HOWEVER, the rest of my experience after the deal was anything but satisfactory. I had bought a 2004 Chrysler Concorde because it had low miles and was big enough that I could fit in it easily. Looking over the paperwork, I discovered that they were making me pay nearly $20k for a car that doesn't even book for $4k. Not to mention they sold it to me with bad brakes and faulty electrical systems.
I discovered this when I was getting ready to leave for work and the car wouldn't move because one of the calipers locked up. I was going to have them tow it to their shop, but they were going to charge me an $800 towing fee, which enraged me. I limped it to a local garage and they fixed it, but now Byrider is refusing to reimburse me for the cost of repairs. Saturday night me and my father took the car back down to Byrider and left it there. They will either drop this whole deal and forget it or we will take them to court. Well I want to say 2 or so months later they tell my husband they made a mistake we still owed another payment. Over two months is ridiculous. We had been telling them we needed a bigger car because I am due April 1st and we will not all fit. This is when I first found out I was pregnant almost due and they kept giving us the run around. So finally my husband decided we cant wait - we have to get a bigger car so he called a Chevy car lot. They said "you have to have a cosigner". My husband asked why when we were already in a lease for the car we have she told him nothing is pulling up so there is nothing they can do.
We figured maybe that was a mistake and went to a Mazda dealership. Come to find out from the dealership J.D. Byrider has never reported anything. So the whole time we are thinking they are doing what was promised to us (building our credit). They absolutely were not. So needless to say we told them come pick it up and the man catches an attitude with my husband and says "Well what are you going to do about your balanced owed?" My husband tells him I am giving you the car back I am not paying for it anymore. The man says I will just keep calling you. So my husband said I will just block your number. I want to say if you see this before getting in to an agreement with them don't do it. The people after you get the car start being absolutely rude and they don't do what they promise. The man at Mazda said technically they shouldn't be allowed to put any bad on our credit because they were never reporting us having the car but we will see.

I understand it is used, but these repairs seem excessive, not to mention by the time I pay it off I would have paid over $24,000 for this piece of junk. I went to other mechanics and Ford, and they claim this problem would definitely be around $3000 to repair.
I want to return the vehicle and cancel the payments but they keep insisting on me having it repaired, and they would work with me, by allowing me to put down 1/2 of the money and pay the other half on payments. The payments already are $400 a month...so what 64 year old can handle that? I requested to return it and get another vehicle. Well that was totally ignored, and no response to my solution. In August of 2014 I purchased a car from JD Byrider. At the time I was employed and set up a purchase contract making bi-weekly payments on an overpriced car with them stating they can help to repair my credit. A few months later my financial situation changed and was being paid monthly. I went to JD Byrider and asked them if they would adjust the contract accordingly. They stated that they do not adjust the contracts and if I cannot make the payments on time that I have to bring the car back until I can make the payments to catch up.
For example, my payment date was Friday, January 23rd and my pay date is January 28th. So according to them, I would have had to return the car to them for 5 days and be without a car. That is absurd!! What dealership would not be willing to work with their client for that small period of time?! I am investing an awful lot of money for a car that is only worth about 1/3 of what I am paying and you think they would be willing to work with me and help their customer.
I feel that JD Byrider looks for the more desperate or people that have few options and they prey on these people to purchase older cars at newer prices, and that once this occurs they basically have you by the throat to adhere to their contract, or else. They are not willing to budge to help their patrons and that is just not good business. I am going there with the car to return it to them. Now that I found another dealership that is willing to work with their customers for newer cars at better prices in better condition.

I went to JD Byrider expecting to be treated with respect. Instead I was treated like a piece of meat in a slaughter house. The man that took my information said first off... "We are in the business of helping you re-establish good credit therefore we are going to charge you twice what the vehicle is worth." I thought to myself, okay so that's how they make their money and I understand that... I am considered high risk so since I was looking at a $7995 vehicle (no haggling allowed), they are making basically $4000 off my situation. So, I remained quiet and continued with the process.
Next I was escorted to the finance office where the girl informed me that not only do they charge double the car value, but that I would pay 21% interest and payments would be $330 per month or higher. I said no, I won't strap myself to that payment. She said it's based on your income. I said I know but, that means I will be working to pay that payment and not have anything left to bank for emergencies or for a monthly self reward. I then asked for how long, and she said 48 months... At that point I thanked her and left.
THIS IS GOUGING PEOPLE!!! Just because I have had issues does not give you the right to ** my pockets. No wonder you have so many repos on record. The best thing for anyone to do in this situation is shop around more... or..... if you can.... wait to buy a car with cash rather than get taken for financial devastation ride like the one from JD Byrider.

She pretty much told us to get ** even though we made our payments on time or even before our time was up and we always paid extra. They didn't care. All they wanna do is get their money for their junk cars and we broke down and got towed twice the week of Thanksgiving and they had it for 10 days and we got it back and then 2 days before Xmas it got towed again. They have done so much ** to this car.
I have all the paperwork of what they did and still a piece of ** car. We even made our car payment and it was still in the shop and we asked to put us in different car and they pretty much told us that they wouldn't put us in another car. Britney and Holly has called me so many times asking me where is the car payment so we got sick of the bs we drop the car off at their front door step then they are telling the people that they repoed it at my house when it was at truck stop because I am our driver and my wife don't drive so how can you repo a car from your home when we drop it off in the front door. They are trying to make me look bad. I always made my payments. J.D. Byrider is the crook. If you are looking for a car don't go there. I am taking them to court. They sold me a lemon...

Where do I start, well I drove past a jd byrider on shadeland located in Indiana in 2011. I stopped and went in to talk to a sales person- A HUGE MISTAKE!!!! Because I seen a 2006 dodge charger and I always wanted one. After talking to him I went home, slept on it, came back the next day and I did a trade in. I had a Sebring convertible 1996, they told me my down payment would be 4,000 and the total car was 14,000. They gave me 2,000 for my trade in, I paid 1,000 cash and they had me make payments for the other 1,000 before I started making car payments- I was fine with that. I started making my payments- my brakes went out and my gears was stuck, car had to get towed and everything.
After 2 years I was late making a payment, they called all my references, asked me why I can't make the payment. It was Christmas time so I was already stressed out trying to make sure I got gifts for people. Then I hear him say on the phone, “can you sell something out of your house to make the payment or ask all of your references for the money.” Right then and there I knew I will NEVER purchase a car from JD again, that is horrible customer service. My car has been worked on a handful of times and they all went smoothly except my engine light will never go off. They tried fixing it but later the light went off and came right back on.
About a year later I had to pay late again because of my job and they had me fax papers over from my job because I got paid late cause of a holiday. I have officially paid off my car 4 years later, I'm happy I'm done with JD but now I currently still have my engine light on. I hope after 18,000 dollars that my car is not about to go out. But this was definitely a experience I will never forget. Be aware.

It was a day before my payment - they couldn't get a hold of me so they call my brother saying if I didn't make my payment, they would sue me and make me pay for the car and all this other crap. I had a 2007 Eclipse which they were charging me $22,000 for which was never explained to me. I was told I was only paying $13,000 for it - I put $4000 down and was making $412 payments a month. The book value for the car is only $7000. My brother told them to not call him, he didn't want to hear from them again, it was my business. They called him 7 mores times leaving voicemails saying I better pay them or else, then called the rest of my family saying they were going to sue me if I gave the car back to them. Great customer service. I wasn't even going to give the car back and I was going to make my payment on time until this happen so I gave the car back.
They said I owed the remaining balance and I laughed I won't give them another dime. This company is the biggest rip off you will ever see. I told them multiply times the car needed fixed and they never fixed it and I was driving around my brother and his pregnant fiance, but they didn't care - they said it's not their problem even though it was covered under warranty. Horrible cars, bad APR, bad customer service. They will harass you, they will do whatever it takes to make you feel so low and worthless. No one should ever have to go through this. Ok, so here was my situation. Just came off a bad divorce where my credit was destroyed. I needed a car and I could not get financed. Sound familiar? I went to JD Byrider in Maumee OH and tried my luck. So, at first glance I realized these are either auction cars or rental, wholesale, etc. I ended up getting a 2006 Ford Taurus. I hated it but decided I needed to suck it up and just get some wheels. I needed a car bad and they knew it. So that is my back story, first impression was ok, sales staff was very upfront about "program", told me to refinance with someone else after a year.
I ended up paying every two weeks (when I got paid) for a total of about $15k total. So all in all not the best deal. I am on my last payment, so I decided to give them a fair review. I have never had an issue with CNAC, in fact I had it set up to autodraft and when I had my card lost and deactivated the payment returned to CNAC. They did call me, but they were very considerate and even let me pay a few days late (waited for new debit card). I also had an issue when they switched from local billing in Maumee to their corp office. The customer service rep was very helpful and called me back to verify.
I have never missed a payment. I opted not to use their service center for oil changes, but I can tell you that my Ford has been running strong. I have put about 75K miles on it and only changed the tires, and regular oil changes at Wally World. SO maybe I am just lucky, or maybe I went into it with all the facts, and also had my budget right. My credit score has improved thanks to on time payments. Communication and patience go a long way. I also think that if you are proactive and not wait for them to call you if there is a problem, also I knew I could make the payments.
It was my choice to do the "program" no one held a gun to my head, and they were upfront with the costs involved, no surprises. I gave them 4 out of 5 stars because the deal did suck, they finance high risk people so they can charge more. I will not use them again because it was way too expensive. I was lucky, my car was decent, I still hate Fords. The program is what it is, so if you are hard up and have no credit, I would recommend them to you. If you have fair or better credit, there are way better deals out there for you to consider over JD Byrider. Hope this helps.

So they came, got it, so I made them mad when I called and asked why pay for a car that they sold me and wont fix. They sued me and my wife. We didn't show up, so they got a judgment of 4,500. I got in trouble - ended up going away for several years. They wouldn't leave my wife alone so she filed bankruptcy. I got home and they found out, took me to court and with interest, I owe double the amount now - almost 8,000. They garnish my wages. I contacted the lawyer for them, asking for bygones to be bygones since I've almost paid the original debt. Nope, I'm still paying it.
So not only did they get the trade in - resold the car - I have paid the original amount. I have to pay another 4,000 due to interest, so who's being robbed now. They won't help anyone and preyed on me for getting in trouble. I bought a car from a different place. Paid on it, no problems for 3 years and own it. Oh and I've been out of trouble for 7 years. Have an ok job and doing all the right things. Why should I have to pay another 4,000? The original debt is paid...I'm being robbed at this point and nothing I can do.

Bought a 2004 dodge truck. Paid the 300.00 upfront. Was told this was our down payment. Within 2 days the tail lights went out as did the signal lights. We called and told them. They reply was "they were working when you drove off the lot", we opened the light covers and the light contacts was a pile of rust. There's signs that this truck has been flooded. Couple days after that we took it to get the oil changed. There was grease in the rear end. Then in less than 2 weeks we decided to get a small trailer and take approx. 15 light boxes to a storage unit. The truck will not even get to 59 miles an hour flooded.
Again I called them and they said, “It was fine when you test drove it, we are not responsible.” I told them we didn't try to pull a trailer when we test drove it. She laughed and said, “Maybe you should of.” After paying 400.00 a month for 3 months we had a family emergency and I called and asked for a few days to pay my payment and told her about the emergency with my daughter. She said "It doesn't matter if your daughter is sick, dead etc., you have a payment today and you'd better pay it now,” and hung up on me. Also I was told I'd never even paid the first payment on my loan. I asked what my 400.00 a month as well as my deposit went. She said the first payment wasn't a down payment it was a paper fee and the 400 is been paying each month was towards a deferred down payment. We were never told this when we bought this piece of crap.
I've told them to come get this truck, they are refusing to. My payments are due on the day my disability goes in. They tried to pull the money out before the deposit showed available today. By 8:10am they started calling my cell which was turned off due to I was in hospital with a MS flare. By 8:30 am they had called my sister, mother in-law, brother in-law and God only knows who else. It's a shame how these people take advantage of disabled (my husband is a disabled veteran, I'm disabled with MS, COPD and autoimmune diseases) people or people with not "perfect" credit. As of 5:25pm today they have now called my 11 times. I purchased a SUV from JD Byrider in Overland Park, Kansas November 2012. Up until today I was very pleased with their service. I have never been late or missed a payment. I know they have had problems with the city of Overland Park trying to expand their lot, and I assume because of that they completely closed that location and transferred their business to their North Kansas City location. This is the beginning of my displeasure with them. The North Kansas City location is NO comparison to the service I received in the Kansas location. They don't seem to be customer oriented at all and if you have a problem, they either (A) don't have a solution (B) never offer one.
I left work early as I always do when I need an oil change to go to the Overland Park location to find that they have completely shut it down and the lot is being used by another car company. I call to make my payment... 3 days early (as always) and question if I can bring my vehicle to their NKC location for an oil change. I was told by some female that I cannot bring it in without an appointment and the earliest appointment is 2 weeks away. So I said "so if I can't wait that long I have to pay out of pocket for my oil change." And she said without any remorse or concern that I could either pay out of pocket or schedule the appointment for January 13th, 2015. I was PISSED (A) that I would be treated that way being an excellent customer (B) that she would not even try to come up with a viable solution. When the Kansas location was open if they couldn't do your oil change when you came in for it they would give you a voucher to go to another location in the area for your oil change.
My thing is why couldn't they (JD Byrider) come up with an alternative for their loyal customers in Kansas to be able to use to take advantage of the service warranty that comes with the contract? I am very pissed that I took the time off work to get this done to find out the location is completely shut down without a heads up. I would not get away with treating my patients this way in my healthcare field, and in their field of expertise they need to be more compassionate and accommodating for loyal customers.

You call repeatedly and of course they all know they need to make a payment calling once or twice not 50 times. On top of that you're supposed to call before you just show up at the house since I still have your car keys. If you charge for that car keys, you can take it out of your own pocket because I called to tell you to come get them. Yet you don't want them and stating that you can just stop by and take the car but not the keys. Still has them in my possession since you guys don't know customer care more. Do you know how to go by your fake advertisement.
I wouldn't refer you to even the junkyard - is how bad you rape people that don't have the money in the first place. So if you want your keys, I better get a phone call and I'll be sure to have them ready. You should of done your job right not half **. So to anyone else I don't recommend going through them. They harass your phone all day long as I see friends deal with this matter - I'm not even one that is getting a car from them because of their lousy service and lousy mechanics. The car needed a tune up months ago. You told the owner no and that would be why your motor is ticking. There’s a warranty on it for a reason, not for you to kill the car. And oh, telling the pregnant owner and her kids they can walk is just the worst thing I have ever heard. You want my kids to walk, why don't you and your kids walk everywhere?
Well that about covers it. We brought the car for repair within a week twice. The mechanic or "Master Mechanic" found no problems... Without hooking it up to the diagnostic machine. The car broke down several times in traffic. We told the accounts receivable, a person in New York who answered the phone... and also Nick our salesman. They were not the quickest to fix the car yet still repoed for the lateness on payment for a car that kept breaking down. Now tell me how can they repo a car that continually broke down within 1 1/2 months? They saw it a verbal complaint, I see it as greed.

I went to J.D. on Hamilton in Columbus and had a AP for blue book and history on use cars. There was 3 different cars I ran Vin number on. OMG they were selling one car that was used as taxi and mileage didn't match and other one shows total and last one was in mutable accident. I didn't say anything till I got inside and ask for history on the 3 I ran Vin on. Omg they think everyone is that stupid, they brought me phony history reports and when I said I will get run the Vin to just to make sure. I got a call 20 min after I left that they sold the 3 I look at. I said I got the report on my AP and I know the truth. I was told not to come back or be arrested for trespassing. I filed report and still nothing. How are these people allowed to sell cars and even total one and sell them 10,000 to 13,000 over blue book?

I came into your office in Chamblee last week and was very disappointed. The loan officer, (black lady with horrible hairdo) was very nasty, and a bit intimidating as well. She was very rude and was not very friendly. And while I understand that not everyone will be able to get a car, the young lady that I brought to you was trying to purchase a car for the first time, and left your establishment in tears. She said the lady was drilling her about her past credit issues. While I understand that is her job, if she had perfect credit, she could have went to a new dealership to purchase a car. I promised her that you guys would help her, and I felt disappointed as well. Perhaps a little diverse training would be best for this employee. While I have sent at least 5 people who have successfully bought cars from you guys, I will not refer anyone else after that disappointment to my friend. We all have pasts, some good, some bad, this young had been laid off of her job and lost her apartment, and then someone stole her identity and put an apartment in her name. We all have a story to tell. While I was able to send her somewhere else and she was able to put $1000.00 down I felt it necessary to let you know that you have lost a good referring customer.

My husband needed a vehicle and unfortunately he went to JD Byrider. Not only did they double the price of the blue book but then charged a 24% APR with a $2000.00 fee to get started. I understand making a profit but that is taking advantage of him.

JD Byrider takes advantage of people with poor credit in need of a car. The cars are triple the actual cost because they are selling a "program". I was told that the loan was for three years but actually is for four years at 18%. So the car which is and was barely worth 4000 is now costing closer to 20,000. I have had every type of problem with the car and really feel unsafe driving it distances further than ten miles, should it break down on me again. Every time I bring it into the shop I end up waiting hours, last time was 5 hours for an inspection with nothing to fix.
I am not only angry with this company but with myself for buying the car. They said no money down but wanted the first six payments of 300 dollars each every two weeks. I should have just saved up and put a down payment on a car at a more reputable dealer. Not only does customer service lack, they then hound too with phone calls to give them a review so they can twist your words and put it on their website as a positive review.

I got a car from JD Byrider in April of 2014. It is now November of 2014 and we've had it in for service 6 times with air conditioning, timing belt, transmission and the cooling fans. None of which was fixed correctly. Still having problems and the car only has 70k miles. Needless to say I'm frustrated and I'm shopping for another car. I found other dealerships that will work with bad credit so there is no need to go to JD Byrider for a car no matter what your credit situation is. I've already invested about $6000 into this car that is only worth around 2500 dollars. And I still have two and a half years to pay for it so I'm done. It will be back in their parking lot this week! Junk!!! Customer service sucks, finance people are rude, and I've never paid late! I hate that I made this mistake, but I guess I'll take the hit.

October 10 2012, purchased 2003 Ford Taurus for mail transportation for my children and I. By November 8, 2012 it had shut down while driving 54 mph. Car got new battery. Then 10/3/13 it begun to run rough and the mechanics at JD put new coils and ball joint. What makes me angry with JD Byrider is that I have been paying since November 8th, 2013 on an unsafe vehicle that randomly shuts down and for the third time. The mechanics say battery or loose terminal. After the last shut down going 55 again, the radar detector fried. I almost was hit by another vehicle. I called for it to be towed to dealership (JD), again the mechanics said it was the battery cable. I informed them I believe electrical since the frying of radar detector. Mark, the service manager insisted car was fixed. That again it was battery. I refused to believe it was battery. Parked car at lot from 11/8/13 to end of July 14. When I picked up car it had new part that I wasn't informed of. A new power steering pump and hoses because they seen it "leaking". When got it ready to be picked up, oil change was supposed to be done. Mark said they didn't due to "it looked clean". I asked, "doesn't oil break down? It has sat for 9 months."
Floor boards rusted out someone's paper work in trunk. I tried moving car to parent's house to make room in drive and car shut down again! The car was towed back to JD on the 24th. Few days after I receive a phone call from mark. He has questions about car. "What am I suppose to be doing"? I say a safe road worthy car. Today November 1, 2104, the car is back to dealership. I paid my biweekly payment on the car I haven't drove in a year. I am informed I am being charged Collision insurance. I say no and inform them car is back on lot. The lady informs me they noted my account. As long as car is on lot they won't charge me. I inform her they could smash the car at a junk yard. I won't be back to get car. They refuse to allow me to trade car in for another and last tow was for safety inspection. I will not pick up car but will continue to pay since I was trying to rebuild credit and they will seek legal actions...Why can't I?

I went into here about the program and was hurried in to fill out paper work, sat for 3 hours then the financial person came out said 300 down was not good, I needed 500. Went back the next day and picked up the SUV and they have called 5 to 10 times a day. It only has been 5 days - ready to bring back SUV. Now they tell me I have to give them 200 more by 5 pm or they are taking truck.

I was in desperate need of a vehicle back in 2010. I had poor credit and was a single mother of two so I thought that they would be able to help me out on getting a car. I ended up spending all day in the office and signed papers for a 2002 Dodge Neon. The first week that I had the vehicle the computer went out and it was replaced two weeks later. A month later I had to replace the alternator, temperature gauge, and distributor with my own expenses. Then the vehicle locked up on me and it wouldn't start. When I called J.D. Byrider to fix it they refused to because I was behind on payment. I was $100 dollars behind on the payment because I had to pay for everything to be replaced. I had spoke to them about the issue and I was lectured about how my payments on the vehicle was more important than getting back and forth to work or taking my kids to school.
It became a headache and I returned the vehicle. A few days later it was out of my driveway. I had returned it!!! I owed 12,000 on the vehicle and they turned around and sold the vehicle at the auction for 3,000. I received a letter from CNAC stating that I still owed 8,000 on the car and they had sold it. YEAH RIGHT!!! They aren't getting a dime out of me. Why would I ever pay on something that I only owed for 3 months. It showed up on my credit report and I had disputed it. They still claimed that I owe them money. Still they will not/have not gotten a dime out of me. It just have to stay on my credit report. I DO NOT recommend JD BYRIDER to anybody not even my worst enemy, no matter if you are in desperate need of a vehicle!!! Worst car company I had ever went to... They are greedy and don't care about their clients just as long as they get paid.
