This website/company should be shut down by the Government for provided falsified reports and information to consumers in the US. They provide zero customer support with no way to call them for assistance. The only way to reach them is by email to which no one responds too. They post incorrect information with no proof and then put the burden of proof on the owner of the vehicle. How is this legal?! And they make people pay for the false reports!!

This company are a scam rip off beware, because they lie in many things and they put on your website anything that big dealers and insurance companies told them without investigating if is true. From 0 to 5 stars I honestly give them -20 FUPOS.

I went into a dealership last week to try and get a new car. Apparently, a negative Carfax came back from a false report that had to be transcribed inaccurately. My truck has never had damage to it, since I'm the only one who has owned it...I should know. CarFax reported that my truck was damaged and had to be towed. I sent in an email as requested to the website and no one has check it, responded or even called. I've called them numerous times, and no one is even there. If you're going to screw with people's lives at least have the cajones to receive calls because of your inability to fix false reports, when they are reported.
This company should not be in business if they aren't going to fix problems as soon as they are noticed....and if it takes them 20, 30 or even 40 days to fix something then they need to add more employees who can read a police report correctly, so they can fix problems as soon as notified. How many negative customer reviews do they need before they are forced to fix problems.

DO NOT base your next used car purchase on Carfax reports. They are inaccurate, not verified, and should not be used to purchase a car. Get your car to a good mechanic or use Firestone ($30-40) or other national shops to complete a multipoint inspection and drive it before you buy. If the dealer won’t let you take the vehicle then walk away. Could be hiding something. They also may not have completed work listed on a Carfax report so verify before you buy. Not worth the money for an inaccurate report. Carfax has not made an effort to correct the inaccuracies. My report stated “new front shock(s) replaced” by dealer. See pics of old Ford OEM shocks in place, not new ones.

I have made several attempts and provided ample proof that they have. My odometer, wrong, they will not correct it. I keep getting the runaround. The information that is shown on this report is off by thousands of miles. My odometer is only three thousand five hundred. They have it listed as over twelve.

I got a trade in appraisal on my truck only to find out that my Carfax said I had roof damage. I previously had a tree fall while I was driving and it struck the car next to me. I got out to see if they were ok. When the police came it was raining and he wrote a report and said in case I had damage on my truck to give the report to my insurance company. Turns out I did not have damage but somehow still shows up as damage on my Carfax. I submitted a claim and of course it can’t be removed.

Carfax very disappointing! Really believed in carfax but they truly have been a disappointment! You have a lot of people using your service and now you will be losing a lot of American's personal business and dealers business.

Carfax missed a prior accident on a truck I bought. Needed some minor paint repairs and the body shop showed me extensive prior repair work. Waste of money and time. Now I’m not surprised as they are a scam in general. They sell people’s information without consent and are in a lawsuit because of that. I will never trust this company. Don’t use them. If a car dealership tries to sell Carfax as a verification RUN.

Carfax report (From a certified dealership) was incorrect on a major issue and Carfax did NOTHING for me. All they did was fix the report on their end. Carfax read that the vehicle had replaced the transmission and torque converter. After driving the car for a week I noticed it shaking, brought it to my auto tech and they said it need a new transmission and torque converter. I told them that the carfax said it was replaced, auto tech said "it was never touched." So I called the certified dealership that noted the work and their response was "we only suggested it". Email Carfax on my findings and their response was we will take the work done off the Carfax report!! NO HELP TO THE CONSUMER!! Its that their business?? To report accurate information to the consumer??? Carfax is a joke!
Out $8,000 for a car that I thought was worth it

I always believed CARFAX reports were reliable and accurate—until I had to deal with them firsthand. My vehicle's report is full of errors, including a completely false accident in a province it was never in, incorrect ownership history, and inaccurate service records. When I contacted CARFAX, they told me to track down the police, service centers, and other sources to fix their mistakes—despite charging people for these reports as if they’re verified facts.
If you’re buying a car, don’t assume a CARFAX report tells the full truth. And if you’re selling, be prepared to fight for corrections if errors appear. CARFAX takes zero responsibility for the accuracy of the information they profit from, leaving sellers to deal with the consequences. I highly recommend verifying vehicle history through multiple sources before making a decision. Don’t rely solely on CARFAX—it could cost you.

Salma was great. She showed us the car and made the process really quick and easy. The best part was they were willing to negotiate the price. Thanks for the fast service. I was really happy with my experience and service.

Be careful. Some of their reports are false to lower the value of a vehicle for others, they put in damage on vehicles and will not reveal the source that put report in. Leaving the owner of vehicle stuck with less value of their vehicle.

Sign up for Carfax for 4 months and every single lead was a scam. Never once did anyone answer a call or email back that Carfax provided. Billed me an extra month, also billed me for a carlot that hadn't even opened yet. Been in business for over 20 years and never ever dealt with a worse company. Save your money 💰 or just flush it down the toilet.

Bought new tires, Carfax says I'm overdue for a rotation. They have this lengthy form to fill out to fix their mess. Maybe upper management should buy less beach houses and fix their software or hire people to do it. Not the 1st time, I know of other people who maintain their vehicles that see wrong info online. Don't believe their reports.

According to CARFAX, the brakes in a 2020 red Chevy Equinox being sold at Northside Ford in San Antonio, were replaced on 1/17/23. That is the absolute furthest thing from the truth!!! I know because l was the original owner of that vehicle! NEVER were those brakes ever serviced in any way, shape or form. In all fairness, all other services seemed to be correct. However, if they are wrong on such as an important issue as brakes, what else are they wrong on? Really makes you wonder. No, as a result of this terrible error l would NEVER trust this outfit.

Carfax, check the credentials of the used car dealer Best Import Auto Sales in Raleigh. Do not continue to give credit or promote cars for sale from this deceptive dealer. Carfax, I purchased a car advertised by you from the Best Import Auto Sales dealer and it turns out they used bad practices by selling cars with corrosion, rust and other faults. Do not sign the paper as is; because they take advantage of hiding potential dangerous defects in cars. Don't waste your money buying a car from Best Import Auto Sales in Raleigh. Cars that supposedly look good, but have a lot of hidden defects and corrosion underneath. They are a fake smile and quite dishonest.

Purchased a car from DarCars Lexus of Greenwich. Nice cars. Shady dealership. If I could give them zero stars I would. Numbers got transposed for purchase. If we didn't catch mistake, I would have paid more dollars for the vehicle. Think management is also not tuned for customer satisfaction. Seems like they are not customer centric and just want to sell cars not taking into consideration customer's needs. If I had to do it all over again more reputable dealers out there. Remember, if you do business over there make sure they sell you what you want not what they want to add to a contract.

I purchased a vehicle that was advertised on Carfax, and it turned out to be a complete lemon. Carfax promotes their Buyback Program, claiming to protect buyers if the condition of a car is misrepresented, provided certain stipulations are met. I followed their process and reached out to them regarding my situation, only to be met with absolute silence. Despite repeated attempts to contact them, I have yet to hear back from anyone at Carfax.
Their lack of response is unacceptable and shows a blatant disregard for customers who rely on their service to make informed buying decisions. Carfax markets itself as a trustworthy tool for car buyers, but my experience has proven otherwise. They are quick to advertise their programs but fail to stand behind them when it matters most. This is the last vehicle I will ever purchase that has any ties to Carfax. Their failure to uphold their promises and address legitimate concerns is shameful, and I strongly urge others to think twice before trusting this company. If this is how they treat customers, they don’t deserve your business.

I bought a used 2014 VW Sportwagen TDI from a VW dealer, Colonial VW, in May 2021. The dealer touted a no collision history and cited Carfax as proof. Well, two and a half years later I got a Carfax from another dealer indicating my vehicle had had a collision reported 5 years prior to my purchase. The dealer, Colonial, blamed Carfax, indicated the poor reputation of Carfax and said it was not their problem. Carfax recently responded to me "We do not have any additional information to provide regarding the source or damage." That's it. In other words, we don't care. Me, the customer and consumer are stuck with a vehicle having much lower value as a result of this misrepresentation. Ps: we bought a Subaru Ascent Limited, not another VW from Colonial.

At the bottom of the CARFAX report, I made the mistake of pushing "Sell Your Car in 3 Easy Steps!". I thought it would give me a sell value, but instead it just gave a stupid lowball number then sent my email and phone to NINE used car dealers who have been texting and calling me all day. I see in the fine print "I agree to receive autodialed and/or prerecorded promotional calls and/or text messages from or on behalf of CARFAX". Well, shame on me for agreeing.

I got a Carfax on a car to look at when the timing belt was replaced and if the transmission fluid had been changed. It said nothing about the belt and the transmission fluid (along with most of the information). Didn't have the mileage. Most of the information was very limited and broad such as "recommended maintenance". I wish there was a way to preview what kind of information that have. Such a waste of money.

Carfax is absolutely garbage. This is the 2nd report in 2 month where I find out something major about a car and they do not respond and the resolution managers are incompetent taking 2 weeks to reply only to tell me to complete the form I had to complete in the beginning. The car I bought turned out to be salvaged that was reported 2 years prior after Carfax having clean title. They will not respond much less honor the buyback guarantee.

Surprised they have a review average above "3." Customer service is unknown; took me 4 hours and 15 minutes sitting in their office to just pick up an all cash deal. RUN, do not use this horrible firm. No need to write a review, my one star review is because I can't do zero, and if you use CarFax, you get what you get. I was there for my Friday pickup, but when I got there the car was so dirty, couldn't even figure out if exterior was damaged. I left, called on way home, and robot told me car was still in the getting it ready place. So, told them I would be back Tuesday to test drive. Was nice, but the 4 hour and 15 minutes the next day to just pay for it, was something I would never want anyone to have to suffer thru.

Carfax is a joke, be careful they only report what is reported to them. We bought a certified pre-owned with a clean Carfax. 2 years later, yes 2 years an accident shows up on the report and after talking to the dealer and Carfax their answer. We only report what is reported to us. Sorry, don’t trust Carfax, it’s a joke.
