I left the key to my Mercedes in the ignition; that was my fault, I must admit. My husband and I brought the Duralast battery to be (re)charged to Auto Zone in Kentucky this past weekend. We were informed that they "could not (re) charge the battery and that there was no warranty; a new battery needed to be purchased", they stated and indicated that "the Duralast battery was not from Auto Zone." We chose not to purchase the battery from Auto Zone since I didn't have the record of my receipt to verify whether it was actually purchased from Auto Zone.
We went to a similar store a few days later and the salesman stated "that the battery is dead." Further stating that the Duralast battery is a Auto Zone part and he recommended that we get it replaced at a discount there to save money. We stated we attempted to do so, but, they stated it was not their product; a battery that is advertised on the front of their window... premium, etc. This is an expense that I should have been able to avoid or get discounted during our COVID 19 quarantine period, when you need your vehicle functioning, in the event of an emergency.

Too bad for Auto Zone. Never again. We know what side your on hummm. Politics or business.

I went in to AutoZone here on North Broadway Rochester MN to get a paint match for my car. I walked into the store and the associate was finishing up with a customer. I asked if he could help me with a paint match. He said no then he said I don’t know paint. Then he said if I could pull the paint code he would know. I asked him where that’s located cause he didn’t want to come outside with me to help. He told me to then google it I then said, "Well since you're busy leaning against a counter and don’t know nothing I am going to O'Reilly's and he said, "Cool O'Reilly's," came outside, helped me find the paint code and a lot of other stuff and got an 80 dollar sale out of me. I’ll never go to AutoZone again. I don’t recommend anyone go to AutoZone. They're very lazy and don’t care about money is the impression this associate gave me so I am just trying to spread the word.

I purchased a Transmission from Autozone worth of $2500, they sent me via their supplier. I thought it is big company and having local stores I can get easy help but it was worst. It started with shipping mismanagement between AutoZone and their supplier. I didn't know they are sending via 3rd party when I ordered. But any way after installing the transmission by mechanic it didn't work. So my mechanic and I was in touch with Autozone and their supplier for tech support. Mechanic performed all diagnostic actions as recommended by their tech support, it was always like my car is the problem and tech support asked to change parts and I did which is money and still same problem.
At the end with the help of store manager she helped me at least to get transmission replacement. But transmission supplier is still not ready to accept that transmission is bad. I am told to keep spending money even for installing the replacement. But I have to give back the faulty transmission. They will test the transmission and if it is faulty then they will pay labor which is half of market rate but as on today they are not ready to pay for all extra diagnostic, parts. I am responsible for everything. Point is if Autozone is selling such parts then they should take responsibility or highlight clearly all the boundaries on item so buyer know upfront. This is totally frustrating, mental and financial stress caused by poor service. Autozone should take this strongly and make sure their supplier satisfy their customer. If I am not supported properly on this matter, I am making sure I am ready to fight this battle further.

Today is 4/24/2020 and I had received a call from my husband to find him a water pump for the work truck. I looked up one at Autozone and one at Orylies auto parts. The one at Orylies was about $3 cheaper then the one at autozone, so I tried to call the cheaper one and got no answers. I attempted this twice and said heck with it and called autozone located on 2842 S BUCKNER BLVD, DALLAS, TX 75227 (214) 275-5922. I spoke with this very polite young man. Do not remember his name but he was very polite and he said that it would be no problem to get the hose we needed and match the price with Oriylies. I would like to say store was very well organized for our saftey during the COVID-19 epidemic and the customer service was great. Thanks.

AZ had a promo for 20% off ship to home orders $100 or more that ended April 6. April 1, I ordered a catalytic converter and applied the discount. I got the conf email. I called to confirm my order. A week later my order was cancelled, I called, they claimed it wasn't in stock. I said ok, let's reorder for the same or similar item. They said they wouldn't give me the same discount I had when I ordered it the first time. Note: the original item I ordered said it was still in stock. The item I ordered originally had a discount of $88. Now when I go online to order the item doesn't qualify for the promo. I have been a long time customer of AutoZone and spent thousands of dollars. The way they handled this experience will lose me as a customer.

Also vicky ** helped out by getting me the tools I needed to change it all out. And aron **, who is new to Autozone, was right there in the middle helping and trying to learn as much as he could. So per usual, I went into AutoZone on my lunch break only to be met with lazy and resistant staff (including the supervisor I requested to speak with) at the front desk refusing to change the bulb because it was "too difficult". No one even bothered at attempting and one guy went as far as to tell me he had my SAME car, explained to me the steps on how to do it (because he does it himself) but stated he "could not do it" for me.
Andrae came up to the front and I recognized him immediately and asked if he could help and he was happy to assist. He went out to my car and took 15 minutes of his day to change the bulb and help make my experience in this store that much better. No issues, no complaints, no attitude. Just great customer service and the only reason I wanted to leave this review. Thank you Andrae ** for being the only person in this location who is actually willing to help! Or maybe the only one who knows what he's doing. That's something to think about.

He called his manager out to try & she concurred it would have to be done at a mechanics shop. He apologized profusely for not being able to complete the job. I am happy though because I got my blades replaced & service with a smile. Wonderful experience.

For a company that takes such pride in their product and prices, it seems like they have little to no pride when it comes to shipping. I choose AutoZone over all other auto parts stores. I am a fan of Duralast parts. AutoZone always do their best to fix the problem of course and get new parts in as soon as possible. Why not fix the problem so this doesn't happen.. lots of money wasted in damaged high quality parts, not to mention the time and money wasted on replacing them. Duralast/AutoZone should not allow their product to be mistreated like they do!
I bought duralast gold CV axles that showed up damaged beyond use. Duralast shocks although still functional boxes they showed up in were destroyed and the shocks themselves were scratched badly. Although my local AutoZone employees are friendly and take care of the problem right away, it still reflects badly on them and their product!! For a guy that does a lot of his own mechanical work and maintenance I'm definitely reconsidering where I purchase my next online purchase.. Local pickup only from now on!!

2011 Mercedes Sprinter front brake calipers, rebuilt. Two different manufacturers and one of the sliders was very stiff. Disassembly of the sliders and boots showed a totally different sleeve one being a soft rubber washer on the slider shaft, the other being a hard composite grommet on the shaft. Relubrication was useless. Called AutoZone and was able to get to the company (sub-contactor) department that told me they rebox different manufacturers.. So the store then can not tell what manufacturer it is! They did order me a matching set of sliders and boots and I re-did the job with such parts.
Fast forward 18,000 miles to present, one side is at 80 %. The other side is wearing very uneven and one of the pads is at its limit, 20%. I am now out the $125 for the pads I bought elsewhere and have to replace the defective caliper and pads. Dangerous! A big waste of $$ and time. Autozone should be stopped from selling mismatched calipers! It should be illegal too.

On 11/03/2019 I parked on behind AutoZone at 824 Rockville Pike, at the large parking lot for the multiple stores there. As a personal preference, I like to use a steering wheel lock (which I ironically purchased from that same AutoZone) as I own a Honda Civic and they are often stolen. As I was at one of the stores there, I noticed my vehicle getting towed, I managed to flag down the tow truck driver (Because I had never left ) who was able to give me the vehicle back on the spot after paying $140. I asked him why my car was towed and he said that the AutoZone manager was on his smoke break and called to tow this car because it looks like someone left it there (which I think that he assumed it is because of the steering wheel lock). I said "I was next door, the parking lot signs says 'customer parking' doesn't say that the spots are for AutoZone".
There are about 8 spots right in front of AutoZone and about more than 20 others which I parked at along with other people who all did not go to AutoZone. Somehow, my vehicle was the only one to get towed. The tow truck driver was honest and empathetic with me in explaining the situation that he was just doing his job after receiving a call. What I can understand is based on what facts the manager of AutoZone looks at cars and decides which ones to tow? How old they are and if they have steering wheel locks? My car was parked as far from AutoZone as possible next to 4 vehicles that I saw their occupants not going to AutoZone, how is it that only mine got towed?
If the entire 30+ parking spaced there are all for AutoZone, shouldn't there be a sign saying "AutoZone parking only"?? I feel very unhappy after this experience given that I have been a frequent customer at that AutoZone ever since they opened and I have been parking my vehicle in that spot whenever I visit the shops there for the past 3 years without ever getting towed.

Today I went to the AutoZone store in Lehigh Acres, FL. where I encountered two of the rudest people that I have ever encountered. I carried a battery to their store to take advantage of their offer to charge a battery for free. The first associate had an attitude problem when I first approached him and ask for his assistance. The second one was a manager, and his attitude was equally as bad. They both told me that my battery had zero voltage. (Surprise, Surprise) that is why I took it to them to get it charged. They kept the battery for three hours and when I picked it up it was obvious that they had done nothing as far as charging it.
I took the battery and re-installed it in the vehicle; jump started it and then trickle charged it. The battery is now fully charged and functioning normally. Perhaps I should have told both clerks that I have over 50 years experience in virtually every phase of auto repairs, and I did not appreciate having my intelligence insulted. Perhaps good employees are hard to find because AutoZone usually hires a much higher caliber of individual than the two that I encountered. I have done business with AutoZone for many years, but this is one customer who will no longer enter any AutoZone Store.

Extremely bad experience. Bought a battery Duralast Gold for my Ford Escape 2008 that claimed to have 5 years warranty. Besides the battery size not being too small, and stating that CCA is of 590 (the same as the original) the ACC, when you measure it it lower than 500. Not healthy for my car. Then brought it to my local Autozone and told that the battery was dying and that I had to be calling my AAA Road assistance at once or twice a week for a charge, so they test the battery and told me the battery was still good and they could not process the "Free" replacement. I told them that my battery would eventually die, I asked them how much longer until my warranty expires?... They just told "you're still good, you can replace the battery whenever you want".
I told them want to replace it now, and they said they can't. Told him to stop telling that then because it's a total lie. They when I asked when was my warranty expiring, they told I should still be good for the rest of the year because Duralast Gold Batteries come with a 5 year warranty. 2 days later, my battery died and had call AAA again. And when I called Autozone and told them that my battery was finally dead. They said that the warranty had just expired and that I just missed the free replacement. WTF???? I told them I was there 2 days ago, and I asked for the person that helped me, and they couldn't find him to verify. All they could do was offer the "Pro-Rate" equivalent to $47 off.
I told them that's not a offer, I have right because I pay for it, and told him "you can offer me a discount." He said he can't but if some other store offered me a discount, that I was welcome to go to that store. That's a rude and very disappointing comment. Battery's Warranty Expired Sep 16, 2019, I visited the store and called many stores as well on Sep 14, 2019 and was told they couldn't replace the battery because it tested good. Battery died Sep 18, 2019. And not one could honored my purchase. I even told them I don't want a free replacement. I just give an extra discount. But on 12th day it did not arrive! So my mechanic called the store. Andrew ** answered and he said it has been taken care of and takes another 5-7 days. But not again! So my mechanic found out their store manager Cynthia did not place an order. So my mechanic tried again. And I think nothing happened. I called Jerry ** their Regional Store Manager, he did not pick up the phone and did not even returned the call (to my mechanic's number). I left him a good minutes of detailed message. No action done! What a great customer service AUTOZONE!
Then I went call Jonathan ** at his personal cellphone he said. Mr ** was quite believably promising and apologetic. I told him what an inconvenience not to have a car, I go to work every day and that being said, I obviously needed my car fixed ASAP! And again like what I've said he promised me to do or make something to meet my needs and satisfaction just to gain my business again. I had to rent a car alternating taking UBER and using METRO and walked 4.7 miles just to reach the metro stop. I had Doc appointments that I cancelled. I was skeptical because he kept reiterating that he will try to do something and promised and apologizing over again. So that was okay.
The next day I texted him, no reply until after few hours, he said the motor arrived, April 4th. Remember we ordered March 6. I texted him of what was their plan about my "inconvenience" and how are they going to extend their customer service? He did not reply. He called instead telling me that motor has arrived. And I asked him how come he did not answer my question above? He said, "What do you mean?" In an irate tone. I said I have a detailed text what do you mean "what do you mean"? And he yelled at me, "What do you really want huh? And you know what? I will not talk to you because I don't have any business with you, I have a business with your mechanic because they have the account!" And I said, "I am a customer, I buy some of parts at your business, tell me how aren't you having a business with me?" (Customer Service Rule: Customer is always right, and in this case I have the right obviously.)
He provoked me right there and yelled back at him and said, "You know what what? Please return that motor then and give me back my money ASAP!" He said "Okay!" And I said, "See you in the court". He said "Okay!". Indeed he returned the motor same day and did not waste his time. I wonder how he became a TSM? AutoZone President/CEO can you answer me? How in the world did you train your people? Are you guys so greedy to just sell your products and don't care about your customer's needs are being met? Not even a star will deserve your company. And if this is not being answered and my concern is not being addressed, I may be able to bring this case to a legal way. I will do anything to make this happen.
On top of these happening, this mechanic is slowly losing customers because the store manager is being rude and will not find their part's warranty. She is not approachable. Does not even greet nor smile. Instead of taking care of customer, she is busy flirting with her male staff. I have witnessed being there trying to look for our warranty and she wasn't even looking through. And we waited there for a good 30 min-45 minutes. She said she cannot find that parts. She does not deserve that position. Autozone you have the poorest quality service particularly in this location 1592. On March 27, 2019 I purchased items at the AutoZone in Fairburn, GA for a total of 74.53. When my card was swiped, it came back as DECLINED. So after the SECOND swipe, it was APPROVED. IMMEDIATELY, and I mean IMMEDIATELY while still at the counter, I puked up my bank account, and there for all to see were DOUBLE CHARGES from AUTOZONE even though their machine said DECLINE on first swipe. I showed this to the cashier, the double charge and called my bank also. As I spoke to my bank, I was relaying the conversation to the cashier. My bank did not have a DECLINE showing in their system anywhere. The cashier gave me some cockamamie story about the charges reversing after 24 hours and to call the number at the bottom of my receipt if it doesn't. Well it didn't so I call the number. Well what do you know... The number is an automated survey number.
So, I called the Fairburn AutoZone and now a "manager" is telling me that their system takes up to three days, up fro. 24 hours. According to "manager" if nothing happens in three days, I should bring my "bank Statement" and they will refund the 74.53. That is the dumbest statement from any manager since, they SAW the double charges the moment it went through. That it the wonders of modern technology. I can pull up my account in a minute. So now I have out in a claim against this merchant with my bank as an "untrustworthy" merchant. I contacted the warranty department and they told me to have a certified shop remove the head and send it to them for analysis. Surefire confirmed the head was defective and never should have been sent the first time. Surefire sent a new head but only paid for $347 of the $800 bill it cost to have the defective head replaced, leaving a balance of $453 for me to pay.
AutoZone takes no responsibility for selling a defective engine costing me the consumer an additional $453 to get the engine I ordered. This engine had zero miles on it when it was found to be defective. As a consumer, I should not have to pay an additional charge to get the engine I purchased. Ordered a transfer case chain through this AutoZone and paid for expedited shipping because I needed the vehicle repaired quickly. The transfer case itself is fine, the chain inside of the transfer case is stretched. Was assured that they were able to get the right part (at a relatively exorbitant price for said part,) but paid regardless because I had no other choice. Got a call that my part came in so I went into the store to pick it up, two of the employees struggled to find the ordered part for 10+ minutes with the name and phone number provided. When they found the part that I had ordered it was an entirely different part than what I had ordered.
The guy who handed me the part had no idea that a transfer case chain even existed. I pulled up the part online (with relative ease,) and showed him the difference. He spent another 10-20 minutes typing random things into his system without saying a word about what he was doing. Managed to get a full refund, but for the time being I’m out almost $90 while waiting for my refund to process and needing to go elsewhere for my part.
If you don’t know something that’s fine, but the arrogance of saying that you know exactly what I’m talking about, have found the correct part, charge me for it, and it turns out to be a part that goes into an entirely different part of the car is not only astounding, but also incredibly aggravating. I refuse to bring my business here and strongly advise that no one else does either. If you want to work at a car parts store at the very least have some basic knowledge of different car parts, and if you aren’t familiar with a specific part, acknowledge that and ask for help.

Let me tell you my story about problems with AutoZone. I bought 2 little tool sets from AutoZone Lawrence. One was a little ratchet set, 3/8 and a small wrench set SAE and metric. I was a plumber trying to get back to work after brain surgery. I somehow lost 2 pieces from each set. This and other developments convinced me my career as a plumber was over, finito! I emailed AutoZone, they told me to bring my tool sets to AutoZone Lawrence and they would be happy to help me find replacement parts so I could start selling all my tools. On top of losing my career, the wheel falls off my car. 2 days later I get on the bus to bring my tool sets back to AutoZone Lawrence, a 3.00 trip. I walk in the store carrying my 2 tool sets in a plastic bag. I walk in. Some nice ** woman tells me to put my bag down on the counter; she’ll help me in a minute. Just to allow other customers to be helped I go a couple of counters down.
After about 15 minutes the fun begins. The manager Bernard walks up to me and asks how he can help me. I start explaining my predicament - he’s looking behind me at other customers. He asks who told me to bring in my tools. I tell him AutoZone. He says why they told me to do that, he has real customers in line right behind me. I pick up my bag and head for the exit. On the way I’m going by a cart with tools on it that a store helper is putting on some shelves, restocking them I assume. I figure I’ll try one last time to get some service. The table he’s taking tools from to restock has an empty space on one end. I start to rest my bag on the empty space on his cart. I start to rest my heavy bag on the cart. He tells me what am I doing? I start to explain - he tells me he can’t help me, he’s too busy. Defeated I head for the exit once again.
On my way out I hear the stock person saying, "Hold on sir." I’m certain he will apologize and ask how he can help me. I’m walking out the door. I’m halfway out. There's 3 customers coming in. The stock person is right behind me. He catches up to me. He grabs my plastic bag and places it on the cement outside the door. He starts going through my bag. In a few seconds he’s done. He announces in a loud voice, "You can leave now. I just had to make sure you weren’t stealing anything!" Now it gets interesting. After I get home on the bus, another bus trip. I write a note to AutoZone to report on my awful day! They tell me just to make sure I get help they’ll have the district manager contact me. Within a few days the district manager calls me. Her name is Naomi. Now I come face to face with my trouble. I can tell by Naomi’s attitude she doesn’t like me or any customers. She is the cancer that is growing at AutoZone.
I call her back - she asks me what can she do to assuage my hurt feelings. I can tell she wants to hang up. So I say, "I’m not sure." She tells me if I think of anything to let her know. I release her from the call and my mind is flying - maybe I can get the parts replaced or a nice tool set. While this is going on AutoZone Lawrence calls me for a job interview. I go to AutoZone Lawrence and Bernard interviews me. He recognizes me and the interview goes on and ends. He tells me I’ll be contacted by the district manager. I go home, it’s now my 5th or 6th bus trip. I get a call from Naomi - she tells me to meet her at AutoZone Freeport at 1:00 PM. I take the bus trip to Freeport, a really long bus trip. I get to the store about 12:30 PM. I enter the store. I tell the 3 people at the counter, "I’m here for the job." They inform me that Naomi’s on the road and she’ll be there soon. They say just hang around the store till she arrives.
I’m walking around the store waiting for my interview. I buy a couple of sodas and some chips because I haven’t eaten yet. Time is moving slowly, I go outside for some air. I’m in and out buying sodas. It’s now 3:00 PM. Naomi finally enters. It’s now 3:30 PM. Just to show you their care for customers. Naomi asks what I’m doing walking around the store when all the other applicants are sitting in the back room. Why don’t I join them. After I’m finally sitting Naomi comes to the back room. She tells us she’s sorry she was late. She tells us she will interview each of us separately. She calls me to the back. She interviews me. She tells me I’ll hear from her by the end of the day. Then she tells me she wanted to see who would complain about her men.
She never called. When I called her she said I would not be hired. I said, "What about my problem with AutoZone Lawrence." She told me to go back to Lawrence. When I go there they offer me a 10.00 mini tool set. I tell them after all my trouble and humiliation that’s not good enough. They tell me Naomi says take it or leave it. 10/11/2018 around 2:00 pm, worst place. Offensive and racist. After 20 minutes of waiting for someone to check us out, still no one came. We bought shop equipment for mechanics. It came in a big box, I don’t know the part's name. I was just driving my brother. Nobody helped us in the store. Not after he paid. Again it was a big heavy box and no one offer to help carry it outside. When we got outside and were putting it in the car a guy ran after us asking if we paid and asking for a receipt and asked who we paid with. We were still carrying a heavy box as he demanded to see the receipt and again no offer for help. I got really upset and made my brother return everything. You will never see us going back there and I will tell everyone about my experience.

Why is it any of their business how much is in my account and if they can see that from their screen what stops them from check everyone's debit cards approved or not.

I was in the store for about ten minutes before anyone spoke. When the guy behind the register asked what I needed, he said he would be out in a minute. While I waited for him, another customer came and ordered something, which made me think I should order it as well. Trying to kill two birds with one stone by getting my battery charged during the 30 minutes I was already there, I got tired and returned the purchase of the headlights I purchased. I would have had to wait an hour for my battery to charge, but that hour couldn't start until the one person who was doing all the working got to a new task even though I was there before many of the other customers.

My husband and I went in to purchase a new battery. Our car wouldn't start once he put in the new battery. He took it back up to the AutoZone where the same woman who sold us the battery told him that wasn't the battery she sold us. Of course he explained that it was the battery she had just sold us less than an hour ago. She insisted that this particular battery had already been returned according to their system. He again explained to her that there had to be a mistake because this is without a doubt the same battery she had just sold us. She reluctantly refunded him the money.
After he returned home and told me what had happened, I called immediately and spoke to the same woman. I told her that we are honest people and that she had upset my husband very much by accusing him of being dishonest. She never apologized or offered to let us speak to someone in charge. I told her that she had lost our business and that I would be reporting to this to as many people as I could and would definitely write a bad review. I will be calling tomorrow to speak to a manager in charge.

AutoZone - 2808 Central Ave, Charlotte, NC 28205 - Policy first, customer second... Employee pulled the wrong part, when I tried to exchanged it I was told the re-credit had to go on my card, (which my bank could hold for 3-5 days). They refused responsibility at this point. Three different managers and not one of them knew that if it was a debit transaction (which it was) you could get cash back. An employee later revealed this to me, but by then their system blocked my exchange so I couldn't do anything and they wouldn't just switch it out.
One manager yelled at me to stop wasting my time trying to exchange the part, then ignored me when I tried to talk to him. Another manager snatched the replacement part out of my hands as I was attempting to explain how simple this exchange could be. The main manager said that was their policy, you can't do a return without the system, so it's not really their fault.
Really? You pulled the wrong part. You failed to explain the difference between debit and credit transactions. You refused to simply switch out the parts, and deal with the computer end of it later. This is what our society in the computer age has come to. A solution is right there, but because of a "policy" that needs a computer input at that very moment, they lost my business. So, the managers don't think for themselves, and the employees are in no position to help because they are outranked. None of this matters apparently because without their system, their hands are tied. In the end I paid for the same part twice, ($400+) then had to return next day to get my cash refund, met with the same don't want to help attitude from the same manager. Lost my business for good. I gladly drive the extra few miles to their competitors.

My battery died and wouldn't hold a charge after jumping it from another car. I couldn't remember if I got it from AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts but it was less than a year ago so I knew it was likely still under warranty. I went to AutoZone to get them to charge it, as is described as a free service on your website. The first guy, a middle-aged Asian man, I dealt with was great and loaned me the socket that I needed to remove the battery at home and bring it into the store. When I returned, I spoke with a younger ** gentleman with a very poor and unhelpful attitude. I explained that I was bringing in my battery to get it charged and his first response was, "So you gonna wait around for an HOUR?" To which I responded, "No. I'm going to go home and then come back and get it."
He then proceeded to tell me that it was a dead cell and that it's not going to hold a charge. He put his hands on it and said, "It's hot!" I said, "That's because it's been sitting next to an engine that's been running for 30 minutes in 90 degree weather, trying to get it to hold a charge." He kept assuring me that it wasn't going to hold a charge. I asked him to provide the service anyway so that I could see it for myself and I went home. When I returned, the battery was sitting on the counter and I asked, "Did it work", to which the same young gentleman replied, "Nope."
Turns out, the battery came from Advanced Auto Parts and there is a store right across the street. I then took the battery to them because they could handle my warranty if necessary. They ran a test on the battery and didn't seem to find anything wrong with it other than it didn't have a charge. As I no longer had an hour to wait for the battery to charge because the store would be closed, I allowed them to trickle charge it overnight and then pick it up the next day. They were very friendly and never once told me that my battery was dead and that I needed to replace it. I picked it up the next day, hooked it up to my car and started it without issue.
Upon connecting the battery, I noticed that the brake lights came on and wouldn't turn off. One YouTube video later and I determine the cause and find the plastic part that broke off of my brake pedal that triggers the lights to turn off. It was under my floor mat. It's less than a $5 fix and will keep my battery from draining because the brake lights will now shut off.
So, to summarize, the younger gentleman at the AutoZone Smyrna, Delaware who made the statement, “We're 'McDonald's, they're MacDowell's”, using a “Coming To America” reference to Advanced Auto Parts never once hooked my battery up to the charger and completely wasted my time. I know this to be a fact because it's about 36 hours later and my battery still has a perfectly full charge and my car starts up without issue.
I kept the positive cable disconnected overnight because I haven't replaced the sensor yet but, when I hook it up, it starts right away like a brand new battery. I will never spend a dime at that store and will now always attempt to find an Advanced, O'Reilly or Napa store before resorting to an AutoZone store. This guy literally went out of his way to do NOTHING to help me. Very shameful...

Thanks that I was always near home when they were failing so I could make it to the nearest Autozone. Last week I was driving and noticed that my lights on the dash started to flicker and looked at my OBD2 device and it said the battery was at 9 volts. I went directly to the Autozone I purchased the battery from last October and the employee checked the battery and said it was bad. I then noticed that the cap on top of the battery had blown off of the top of the battery and that caused it to lose power.
After they replaced the battery I noticed that the battery was still showing low voltage so I went to the auto repair shop and they said my alternator was bad (which I replaced 1.5 years ago but at least still under warranty). Bad thing was it was a holiday weekend so could not go anywhere for 4 days till the holiday was over and repair shop reopened. Now everything seems to be OK but am worried that this might happen again. Battery company says it probably was the alternator overcharging the battery and mechanic says battery dying cause the alternator to go bad. No one will admit anything. LOL. Below is a pic of the top of the battery that had the cap come off. Glad I wasn't on a sightseeing trip into the desert off road and this happened and couldn't get car going in this heat. We bought a durable battery from AutoZone (366 Eastern Ave, Malden, MA 02148) for our Honda CRV. After that, the first trip was to our dealer to change oil. The dealer happened to give us a regular test; based on the test results, the dealer told us the “brand-new” replaced battery has some problem and needs to be taken care. When we still wondered to change the battery or not, it came the next day that we cannot even ignite the car.
Then we came to the store with the battery. The manager offered us a terrible service: firstly, he pretended to check, and told us nothing was problem; and then he blamed that either we or our dealer was lying; and then he said if he replaced a new battery for us, our warranty (three years) will not work anymore and we cannot come back for any quality problem in the future; and at the same time, he just tried to charge some fee for the replacement or the refund requirement. Finally, he said the dealer could do some improper things like change the connection of our car and disfunction the battery(??!!)
Guess what, after we insisted to refund and replaced another brand battery from another store, everything goes back to perfect. What a terrible product and services AutoZone offered. Duralast battery had 5 years warranty and the store gave me only $42 discount which is only 18% of the total amount that cost for new battery. What's the point of having warranty if I have to pay $101 for new one? I'm really disappointed with AutoZone and I'm seriously thinking about making NAPA Auto my regular auto shop.

I went to AutoZone on 10/27/17. It seem that they didn't know what was going on. I buy lots of parts there but lately I been force to go to O'Reilly. On 10/27 about 10:30 am I bought an air filter. When I went to pay it seem that they didn't know what to do. It was 2 women and 3 men working at the time. They couldn't open the register. I was standing there for about 5 minute then I ask them what was going on. They told me they didn't know how to open the register but I can pay with a card. I wanted to pay cash not my card so they told me to go somewhere else so I went to O'Reilly which was right door. Lately that store seem to not know what they are doing. The store is in Fitchburg Mass on John Fitch Highway. They need to do better. I really don't like O'Reilly but I get better service there.

Auto Zone Gardner Kansas doesn't care!!! I bought a battery 6 months ago for a atv type machine and it is dead. They said they would try to recharge it but it wouldn't take a charge and they didn't care. I said I would never buy another one of their batteries and she said, "I don't blame you." So there you go, buying anything in that store is a waste of money!

Bought exhaust wrap and metal ties for exhaust job, did not need the material. 3 weeks went by, lost receipt, returned the items to store where bought, and was told, I had to put the money from the items 74 dollars on a reward card. I agreed, because I am always needing auto parts. Went back in the store 1 week later for some rubber hoses, and a replacement ratchet I had lost, was informed my total was 64 dollars. I give him my rewards card and he informed me I still owed 64 dollars. He then informed me that it's a point system. I should have just burnt that money, it is gone. Good scam AutoZone.

Had a Duralast U1-3 Gold battery I had bought for my riding mower about a year and a half ago. I took it to the local AutoZone store in Porter, TX to have it tested. Much to my amazement, the guy simply tests the voltage and declares the battery is good. I asked "how can you say the battery is good without having done a load test on it?" I was told that was their procedure, if the battery was below a certain voltage it was deemed to be bad, otherwise good. I know enough about lead acid batteries to know you absolutely cannot test one by simply checking its voltage.
The battery has to be put under a load for a specific period of time-based on the batteries Cold Cranking Amps known as CCA. With the battery under load, the amount of voltage drop across the load is measured and this voltage determines if the battery is good or bad. Many times, one can put a bad battery on a charge and get a reading of 13 volts but said battery still not be able to deliver the amperage demanded of it. I took the battery to O'Reilly Auto Parts and they had the proper equipment.
First they get the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) of the battery to be tested and input it into the test unit. The load test unit has two huge resistors inside and they get very hot. This puts the proper load on the battery for the test. Testing a lead acid battery in any other manner is a waste of time. Just because a battery can hold a charge at 13v doesn't mean it can deliver on its CCA rating. AutoZone's battery testing procedure, at least at the store I was at, is completely, utterly bogus. Have your batteries tested at O'Reilly.
AutoZone's battery testing procedures are a scam. I consider their testing methods to be completely fraudulent because batteries that really are bad will be tested as good. The only one that is helped by this is AutoZone, especially if it is a warranty battery, but on the other hand they also lose sales because batteries that really are bad are passed off as good. I have to conclude they must have a *lot* of warranty issues with their batteries and their testing methods will rule in their favor. There should be laws against this kind of gross behavior.

I had a very bad experience today. I went because my car starts cranking slow and I wanted to check my battery if that is the problem (it's a year and half battery). The guy said not enough power so he took off the battery for charging. He called me after 1 hour to tell me it's a bad battery and needs to be replaced. He sold me $140 battery, of course installation for free. He closed the hood and that's it. Then I asked him if he can check my alternator if the new battery is charging well. After the test he said: "Oh, it says charging failed. You should check your cables or alternator." So I was shocked and asked him how he knew that my old battery is bad when obviously there is a problem causing my battery to not working. I asked the guy twice, "Are you sure I need a new battery and my old one is bad?" Then I wanted to get the old one and he said, "I am so sorry but I can't give you your old battery because you didn't pay $18 for charging the old one." Whaaat!!!
So I offered to give him $18 for my old battery BUT I will check on two different places the battery and if it's good battery I will return everything because I don't want to spend $140 for no reason. He said, "Nope you can't. If it once installed, no returns. That's the policy." Whaaat!!! Even if I never needed your new battery. That's insane. So I came with an issue, then spend $140 and I am going back with the same issue? After wasting my 2 hours in this store finally I got my money back. So guys be careful. They just want to sell you new stuff no matter if you need it. Nobody tells you they got your old battery and probably they selling this batteries for recycle. Very bad service. Always check your stuff first before you go, just in case.

I've gone to AutoZone for years because it's right down the road from me. Convenient. 15 years of so-so service. However, a Duralast battery that fails after two years and two months is complete garbage. Two months after warranty expires and no pro-rated time. It's even the higher CCA than the vehicle required. Its pretty disgusting a store carries garbage like this. The counter guy's reply, "Maybe you should have bought the gold series". Maybe they shouldn't sell garbage. Batteries are such a scam now. Thanks Obama for making laws that drove up the costs of batteries.

The battery for my vehicle needed to be replaced in December of 2016 for my 2001 Nissan Altima. I purchased a 5 yr Duralast battery. The first one started having issues a few months after I purchased it. I thought it was something wrong with my car that was causing the battery to be weak, so I charged it a few times and lived with the weak charge for a couple more months. When I took it in they tested it, and the battery was bad. The replacement only lasted about 2 months before the failure of one of the cells caused my car to die on the freeway. I had to have my car towed to the shop and they tested my electrical system and the battery and once again the Duralast battery that I got from AutoZone was bad. I should have checked for complaints about these batteries before I put the same battery back in my car and it would have saved me a lot of money. Never again will I buy a Duralast battery.

I ordered a driveshaft from AutoZone.com a week ago Monday and I only went with them because they claimed they'd have it to me by Thursday since I paid an extra $63 to expedite shipping. Come Friday I still didn't have a shipping confirmation and my order status was the same as its been all along "Processing". I called and spoke with a lady that assured me she was going to move my order to their I.T. team to resolve the issue immediately and that I'll be hearing from them shortly. Monday afternoon comes around and still no word from anyone and no change on my order status. I called them back to ask for an update and this time I got a complete jackass that told me the order was fine. That the I.T. team was just finishing up correcting an issue on their end and that I'd have the driveshaft by Tuesday or at the absolute latest it would be Wednesday.
I explained to him that if they didn't have the part or if they had a problem just to let me know so that I could order one elsewhere as I'm in desperate need of getting my truck going again but he assured me everything was fine and I'd have it shortly. I quite wasn't comfortable with this guy as he came across like he just was telling me what I wanted to hear and was rushing to get me off the phone. I called back that night and asked for a manager to confirm what I was earlier told. The manager said they had a glitch on their end and my order was "froze". That it could be days before I.T. could fix the issue and that it would be best to cancel the order and reorder the item. She also assured me that she would personally put a rush my new order so that it will ship that next day.
I keep checking and nothing has changed. I'm week out and still haven't received a shipping confirmation. I'm no better off than I was a week ago as I'm still paying $40 a day for a rental car and have no end in sight. When she asked me to cancel the order I asked her several times if you're not sure of the shipping time or if you guys don't physically don't have the part let me know now and I'll order elsewhere but once again they screwed me. Everything I've heard from these people has been a lie. Lesson learned.

As a automotive technician it is frustrating to say the least. I'm very surprised AutoZone has not figured out this is a problem. I know they have lost business from me BC of it. No money left on the card. Threw it out. When we went back to return it they said that the money goes back to the card. But it was a gift card not a credit card. They said you have to go to the gift card company to get your refund. They didn't even offer a store credit that I could use later so as far as I'm concerned they stole the money. We're out 30 dollars that could of been fixed with a store credit.

I have always felt welcomed, valued, and respected at all Auto Zone locations, but this experience has definitely tainted my perception. My check engine lit up yesterday so I went to Auto Zone to get the code(s) and purchase whatever was needed to fix the problem(s). There were 2 associate workers and 1 store manager. When I walked in, an associate worker asked what I needed. I told him, and he proceeded to walk to my car. Just before he got to the door, the store manager (Michael **) said to the associate, "Don't go out there. We get to non-paying customers when we want." I waited, because they were a bit busy.
All customers had left and the other associate came to help. As the associate stepped out the door the store manager barked, "She is a non-paying customer. Don't go out there. There's some stuff to put up in the back." The associate rolled his eyes, but complied. I responded, "How do you know I'm not buying anything?" He ignored me and asked me to leave the store. I'm unsure how this man earned his position in a customer service role, but he needs additional training. I have never felt so disrespected and devalued by an employee, especially not one at manager level. I drove miles away to a farther location because a MANAGER lacks respect, customer service, and had an awful attitude.

Wow, I don't even know where to start, so I'll cut thru the chatter and state it as it is. If you are going to buy a battery from AutoZone the best thing to do is buy two extra batteries and the tools to install it. Their batteries will leave you stranded. So you'll have the extra ones with you, and if the replacement fails, and there's a good possibility it will you'll have the second spare to put in. Should you not have the mechanical ability to install it, then my advice is to be sure you have phone numbers of roadside assistance to help you because you're going to need it. I fell for their batteries 5 times, yes I'm a slow learner. I decided to once and for all move on to another automotive supplier. Life is too short to be changing out the batteries sold by AutoZone.
