AutoZone can be a scam during warranty exchanges. I started writing this review and started venting about my experiences and realized that it had gotten way too long so I'm going to cut it short. I had a similar experience today that reminded me of why I made AutoZone my last option when purchasing parts. They will claim (at least my local store) that they don't see older purchases in system knowing it's a good chance that you won't still have receipts to prove. The last time it was for an exchange on a battery. It was their own battery with purchase dates on it to show it was still under warranty.

I finally got it exchanged after several weeks of contacting regional managers and them contacting local store. Today same experience exchanging alternator. Said they couldn't find purchase in system from just a few months ago and I didn't have receipt. Well, I went home determined to find receipt because I felt like I should be able to find if I spent enough time looking. Bam.. Found it and made trip back to store. As I looked at receipt, I noticed that they had not completed entire phone number so It would not be able to be searched by number. I wondered how many times they purposefully accidentally put in wrong, incomplete or no phone number in order to not honor exchanges. This may not only be an AutoZone thing, but it happened during my last two exchanges at the same store. I will be sure to double check my receipt during future purchases at any store purchase for warranty purposes.

I just had one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful experiences with this AutoZone location. I called with a simple question about my car battery, and the employee immediately refused to give me his name, even though the call began politely. When I asked if he had a supervisor I could speak with, he said, “I’m the only one in here,” and still refused to provide any identifying information. On top of that, he wouldn’t even confirm whether they had the battery I was asking about — he was deliberately unhelpful and dismissive.

His tone was condescending, rude, and completely unnecessary. The way he spoke to me made it clear he didn’t take my questions seriously and didn’t care about offering even basic customer service. I ended the call feeling demeaned and shocked that this is how customers are treated. No one should be talked down to, stonewalled, or made to feel stupid for asking for help. If this is the behavior being allowed at this location, management needs to take a serious look at who they have representing their store.

I am very disappointed. I bought an air compressor from AutoZone on 3/24/24! Which cost me $180. I have followed the instructions by the tee, went to use it today. I was able to put air in two of my tires and then the air compressor stopped working! I did not pay this price for it for it not to even last two years. It was the Duralast-1200 DL! Waste of money!

There was this super helpful rep, number 77, who made our trip so seamless. We were picking up two headlight bulbs for our Kia and planned to install them ourselves, but he offered to take care of it for us! He was incredibly nice and got the job done way faster than we ever could. I'm genuinely grateful for his help and appreciate the care he put into his work. I'm definitely a customer for life now!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Service at AutoZone Oceanside! I don’t often write reviews, but the exceptional service I received from Kyle, one of the managers at the Oceanside AutoZone, deserves recognition. Kyle went above and beyond to help me get the correct part for my car and even installed it for me on the spot. I wasn’t getting the support I needed from the dealership — despite my car still being under warranty — but Kyle took the time to listen, explain my options, and make sure I got exactly what I needed without trying to upsell me. Thanks to him providing the right bulbs, I was able to return to the dealership and finally get my warranty service completed.

I returned the next day to purchase air filters and thank him again because his help saved me from being charged $350 by the dealership for something that should have been covered under warranty. Kyle’s customer service, honesty, and willingness to help are truly rare. Highly recommend Kyle and this AutoZone location!

Very disappointed. I've purchased from Autozone for years and never such an issue. I recently purchased Duralast Tire pressure sensors. The issue is, NO ONE CAN PROGRAM THEM. I've contacted numerous shops within 50 miles and no one can program them. I don't understand how they can sell a product that apparently can't be programmed. I did a Google search and there's a programmer, but I can't find a new one anywhere. Used on eBay for $125-$200+. I asked at Autozone and they had no idea either. Product sucks and I'll shop at Advanced going forward.

Unprofessional Service and Poor Customer Support! I wish I was a mystery shopper… It was that bad! SKIP THIS STORE (904 E Sample Rd Pompano Beach, FL 33064). Visited this location today seeking help with an evaporative emission system part for my 2019 BMW X2. I provided the year, make, model, and fault code (P0446), along with the part name, but did not have the exact part number. The employee at the counter (young black American female) struggled with the spelling of “evaporative,” repeatedly entering it incorrectly despite my attempts to clarify. When I politely pointed out the error, she became defensive and blamed me for not showing her my phone clearly enough (which I had already done). Her tone shifted from dismissive to confrontational. What made this worse:

    • No greeting when I entered the store
    • No acknowledgment or offer of assistance until I approached the counter myself
    • Became visibly irritated when I corrected her spelling mistake

    • Accused me of being unclear after I had already shown her the correct spelling multiple times.

I left without the part. If you’re going to work in customer service, basic courtesy and patience should be the baseline. AutoZone’s competition will gladly earn my business if this is the standard here. What’s even worse is customer service like this is one of the reasons companies would rather incorporate AI agents than hire people to interact with customers. This could have been an easy sale. I don’t think it could get any easier, but to get an attitude, become frustrated, and then slick with me all because your computer can’t find a part due to your spelling errors is insane. She needs training or find someone else. Highly recommend you skip this store.

Worst experience ever. I bought a battery and one of their employees installed it. I knew something was wrong when he took the battery out and turned it around. After almost 2 hours of waiting on him to finish when I started my truck I got a alert that said "battery not charging stop vehicle". The guy tested the battery, starter and alternator. It said the alternator was bad. I explained he killed my alternator when he turned the battery the wrong way.

I spoke to store manager who told me that 2 of the employees was saying they did not know which side was positive and which was negative and they were googling tying to figure it out. He also said they never should have changed it with fuses on the battery. The district manager said to take it to shop and if it's their fault they will cover. I took it to the dealership who said they killed my computer system and could be more damage once the system is fixed to run more test. Price is 2200.00. I advised the DM of this and said they need to pay to repair my Volkswagen truck. They want me to pay for the repairs and say they will reimburse me. Will not give me anything in writing, will not pay for a rental as my truck is not drivable. This has stressed me out so bad. I have missed work over this.

I do not like how they are handling their mistake. I am thinking of filing a lawsuit. This is not acceptable to treat people this way. I have filed a complaint with corporate and they had a regional manager reach out who has not even returned my calls or text today. This has been a horrible experience. I can not believe how they have turned my life upside down. I don't know how or how long I will going through this. Autozone needs to make it right. I am so depressed behind this. If I could give a 0 star I would.

This is specific to their online site and not any individual store. This is specifically focused on oil brands for sale on their website. Without entering any car info all brands of oil will be visible. But once you enter your vehicles info those oil brands will become limited. I don't mean just the oil for diesel engines. I used to own a Lexus 300h that took 0W-20 full synthetic and now I own a Mazda CX-5 non-turbo that takes 0W-20 full synthetic. I enter my current vehicle info (Mazda) and Pennzoil along with Mobil 1 both disappear. To make sure I'm not just crazy, I enter my old '16 Lexus ES 300h as my vehicle and Pennzoil along with Mobil 1 reappear.

The only difference between AutoZone's "Your vehicle's oil" for the Lexus and the Mazda is 0.1qts used. Which is correct. But the exact same oil type is recommended for both vehicles 0W-20 full synthetic. I don't know why AutoZone decided what brands of oil to show for what brand of car but now I'm questioning all of their search results and won't enter my vehicle info into their website any longer.

I added 3 pictures to prove my point. The first is of Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 being shown as "not-fitting" a 2024 CX-5 non-turbo. The second picture shows the limited oils offered for a Mazda vehicle that uses 0W-20 full synthetic oil. The third picture shows the oils offered for a Lexus vehicle that uses 0W-20 full synthetic oil. The two last pictures should have the exact same results since they both use 0W-20 oil.

So, my son-in-law was fixing my vehicle, and I went to get the parts the first few times. However, this time, I couldn’t make it, and you think they wouldn’t care how he showed up? Well, my son-in-law was a bit dirty from working on the car. What mechanic stays clean? 🤭 Anyway, the ignorant sales team was being very disrespectful and kicked my son-in-law and my daughter out. They refused to provide them with services because my son-in-law was all in his mechanic era. 🤭 I used to love going to this place to get parts for my cars or whatever I needed. But since this happened, I’m not going to give them any of my hard-earned money or my business. Who denies someone services just because they’re in their mechanic clothes? This happened at the smelter location. I think it was very unprofessional and rude.

I was going to post the video, on Facebook, but I don’t need to provide evidence of it the people that did this know exactly who they are 🤦🏼‍♀️ but in the video, not once was my daughter or her boyfriend being rude. They just asked for the parts they needed and asked a question about a certain part he needed to get, as well as some tools. We would have spent a little over $500 there if they had accepted his appearance. But no, so they went to O’Reilly’s, where they treated them with so much respect and not judgment at all. So Smelter AutoZone, I hope you teach your team how to show respect and not show judgment and again I do believe it was the BOSS/MANAGER that was part of this issue, not sure if it was cause of are skin color or what but yes when I gone there by myself I would see people giving in a vehicle go in there twice as messy as my son in law was and they was very nice to them. This just blows my mind, it really does.

I ordered about $500 worth of brake pads, rotors, spark plugs, an oil filter, and some other consumables for next day delivery through the app. I received an email the next day that my order was cancelled. For some reason, I was charged only for one of the items (front pads) and all the other items were canceled. I called customer service and both the original rep and then his supervisor were telling me it was my bank’s fault. My bank said it couldn’t be their fault since AutoZone successfully charged me for the one item they singled out on my order and that AutoZone would’ve had to split the transaction that way (one transaction for the one item, and another transaction for the remaining items that was cancelled on their end).

I asked the supervisor if I could just reorder the remaining items through him over the phone and just pickup the parts at a local AutoZone store since the cancelled items wouldn’t get to me in time if they were shipped as originally intended. So the supervisor made a cart of my remaining items and had it set to pickup from a local AutoZone and it was going to be over $100 more than what it should’ve been. The supervisor told me it was because the cheaper price I was expecting was for coupons/deals for online delivery orders only (as my original order was). So I asked him if he could just charge me the original price I was going to pay since I’m being inconvenienced by not receiving the parts when they were supposed to be delivered. He told me he could not do that.

So either AutoZone supervisors are not given the authority to make custom transactions which would be a terrible business policy of AutoZone’s (because what’s the point of the supervisor then if they have no authority other than babysitting subordinates) or the supervisor just didn’t want to work with me and make things right. After all, all the rep and supervisor did was redirect blame at my bank rather than take responsibility and genuinely apologize.

So ultimately, my time was wasted trying to order from AutoZone and I’ve learned to either use Walmart, Advance Auto, RockAuto, and Amazon instead since I’ve never had a single issue like this from any of them and for orders much more expensive even and through the same bank (for which I ended up ordering all $500 worth of equivalent parts that were on this order from Advance Auto instead, and for in-store pickup, for only $6 more than what this order was from AutoZone for delivery only, and there were no bank issues and everything went smoothly through them).

I’m going to speculate that the reason my original order was split into two transactions for one item I was charged for and the remaining items that were cancelled (for which two duplicate pending transactions are showing on my bank account for those remaining cancelled items of $436 which better go away because I’ll be even more upset if I have to call my bank to cancel them) was since some or all of those items weren’t really in-stock for next day delivery and rather than owning up to it an apologizing, they just cancelled the transaction and blamed my bank. Very shady business practices. They are now blacklisted by me. Not worth dumping time and money into them when I may spend slightly more money for a smooth and pleasurable buying experience elsewhere.

I discourage anyone from trying the AutoZone online shopping until they change consumer policy. They advertise a 20% discount on products if you purchase over $100 if sent to your home. However they give little discounts of $8 instead of the $20+ to keep you from getting your total above that amount for the greater discount. If you don't catch it at the point of sale... They don't honor the greater discount and you can't refuse the arbitrary little discounts they attached. If you call within a couple hours to change your sale or cancel then too late... They say they already shipped it... In California if a discount is offered and your subtotal is over the amount to trigger that discount... Then you better give that discount... Otherwise it is a bait and switch.

They have nothing which explains that the discount won't be granted based upon your subtotal. It is also false advertising to list one price then charge another. I will use my credit card to challenge since they won't help to change the cost or to cancel the sale. Customer service was always right and never the customer. Their shipping must be absolutely fantastic and far better than Amazon's to not be able to cancel the sale in less than 2 hours of clicking. I would hope that is true... Because online they originally said the product would come in two days and suddenly it's arriving the very next day preventing my canceling??

When I placed the order I was asked delivery questions. I sent it to my address. The products were sent to the old address. I went to the old property to see if the owners were home and they were not, but I did see my products on the front porch. The owners had installed Ring doorbell. They were not home but left a message. I called the store that I frequently use and explained the situation. The employee told me to just take the items since my name was on the packages. She was advising me to commit a crime.

I called another store to report the incident and was advised to call the 1-800 number for the Rewards program for getting my address changed which I did two years ago and to resolve the issue of getting the products I ordered. I called a Rewards representative and explained the situation. I was told that I have to call the bank to stop payment. This was not my fault but I am expected to pay for a stop payment process and still not have the parts that I requested that should have been delivered where I requested on time as stated. I will never use home delivery again and may not use AutoZone again or suggest others to be a patron of the company. Wish I would have recorded the store call.

She not nice and I haven't had a nice experience with her ever. I've commented on people at this Auto Zone with exemplary optimistic criticism. 5 stars for the store, now, but for this ** woman, if I could give her 0 stars I would but she gets 1 star for showing up for work and having on a decent uniform. I served in the Navy for 4 years and when you were unsat you were unsatisfactory. She is a unsatisfactory employee, manager of Auto Zone on Melrose Avenue.

I don't know if her personal life is bad or just being a woman in a male dominated field as her on edge everyday but this won't be my first or last comment on her. She really took me off guard this day because it was receipt. If you pay with a card or have a receipt on file she can put could've looked it up got my driver's license and sent me on my way. Instead drama. Her drama!! With her is drama. With her it's about her. Not the customer and as long as I've been alive whether at target Walmart the mall or bojangles the customer is right. I just want my item. That's it for me, JUST WANTED MY ITEM. I WILL BE COPYING THIS AND PUTTING IT ON FB AND OTHER SITES TILL SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT HER. Thank you, and have a blessed day.

AutoZone is the worst parts store. Usually gotta buy three or four parts before you get the right one that works. Thought I only needed three coil packs. Bought them charge full price then ended up buying five more. Ask them to credit the three and charge for all eight. Would not do that. Fine. Paid full price that was fine. Ended up being something else the problem so decided to trade the truck in and buy new. Had one part that said it was no good so try to take that one part back. Lifetime warranty would not take it back. Only $67 but is very upsetting store on 35th Ave. and Southern workers very rude. Do not use AutoZone. Spent over $500 on just those parts. Been using them for years. Never use them again. Use Parts Authority. Don’t have to take their parts back.

I’d like to share my recent experience at the AutoZone located at 6240 Oxon Hill Rd, Oxon Hill, MD. I was assisted by a sales associate named **, and I have to say—he was outstanding. His professionalism, knowledge, and exceptional customer service truly made a difference. I came in with a frustrating issue involving the wrong battery for my car, and ** went above and beyond to help resolve it. What began as a stressful situation quickly turned into a positive experience, thanks to his patience and expertise. I visit this AutoZone frequently, and ** is by far one of the best team members I’ve encountered. I truly appreciate his dedication to excellent service and wanted to make sure he gets the recognition he deserves.

I went to Auto Zone in Kings mtn. Got the best customer service ever! He helped me put on my wheel covers on my grandson's car! He was amazing, can remember his name but he was very helpful to me! I will definitely be back at auto zone for my future vehicle needs!

I place an online order, because they offered 20% discount and free next day delivery on orders over 100.00. The local store had the part in stock, but it was going to be next day delivery and I could live with that. It is now 5 days later, and I still do not have my part. If their customer service was worth anything, they would have had something like door dash pick the parts up, from the local store, and had them delivered to me. Or better yet, tell me that since they were not able to uphold their end of the transaction, allow me to pick it up and give me the online price. I will NEVER do business with them again.

I've always gotten great service at AutoZone but a couple nights ago it was exceptional by the assistant manager, a young man who was very eager to help with all my concerns. The young lady Brittney ended my exceptional service by actually repairing it for me fixing my problem which could have proved fatal if not addressed. I would like to say thank you both for such a great experience, I will recommend to friends.

Ordered parts Friday to be shipped to house. They offered overnight shipping and never arrived. With all the company trucks you would think it wouldn't be shipped by FedEx. Well after contacting customer service they were no help other than telling me to go buy the parts from store and then return up there a 2nd time to return my order. Very unhappy! Unacceptable.

My windshield wiper was broken and I needed to have it replaced. Colton at the Hanford store # 05822 was very helpful finding the correct blades (I purchased 2 at his suggestion) for my vehicle. He offered to put them on for me and did a wonderful job. His customer service skills are excellent and he actually cared about the service he gave me. He thanked me for my business and invited me back. EXCELLENT young man. He really is a great asset for your company!!

The store located in Barton St. in Pawtucket RI is the worst store to go to. Is run by kids that they have no knowledge about cars. They relied on computer down to sell you the wrong stuff. AutoZone needs to step out.
