I've had AAA vehicle insurance for several years. They seem to have excellent rates but that's about it. At one time, when my truck stalled in frigid weather, I tried to get help from them and couldn't even get through. I finally ended up with the local police department having a tow truck come out to get me out of the middle of a parking lot I was blocking.

Having had the above experience, I wasn't even going to renew the roadside assistance but was told by them that to keep my insurance I had to. $80 later I never did receive an updated card with a new account number--which I didn't even know I needed until yesterday. Yesterday, I called to have my vehicle towed to a repair shop. I've needed a new clutch for quite some time and, while sitting in my driveway, the battery in the truck totally died.

In the meantime the tags have expired. Calling AAA this time I come to find out that they WON'T tow your vehicle if your plates are current. As such, in addition to the $80 I paid for their worthless coverage, I had to pay $69 to a towing company to have my truck towed so I could get it fixed to get it inspected to then be able to get the updated plate tags.

I've never been impressed by their road service in the past and, in present, it really sucks too. I'm looking for new insurance, at least comparable to what I'm paying them though, admittedly, I may not be able to find it so there may be no other choice but to put up with their crappy service. Still, I opted to write this so anyone considering AAA will at least know what they are in for.

There must be over 500 tow companies in NJ but AAA evidently contracts with just a handful. AAA does not care about wait times for its members. What would be so wrong to have an app like a Über app where tow companies bid for a tow job? This would lower prices and provide more efficient service. It would also allow members to monitor road progress made by the tow company. I rarely have breakdowns but when I do, AAA does very little to give me a good experience. And, might I add I have been a AAA member for over 25 years. A pathetic state of affairs!

Went to Auto Zone because my check engine light came on. After it was checked my engine went too hot very quickly. The men at Auto Zone, who were extremely helpful, found the source and I had a bad radiator leak. I called AAA. They told me I would have to wait over 480 minutes... It was about 4:00 pm when I called so I would be stuck at Auto Zone till about 12 am. Knowing AAA probably longer than that. Anyway, I couldn't afford risking ruining my motor and the guys at Auto Zone said I probably wouldn't make it to the garage I go to.

I called to double check to see if they were serious and yes they were. In fact they were so serious that they said that was a very reasonable time... 8 hours!!! That's a whole shift at work. Never mind the fact I had my 70 year old grandfather with me in the rain. I got the car to a garage, but what's the point of paying this huge fee if no one will come help you? It's a joke! I only keep it because I go to school 3 hours away from home and I'm planning a trip to Harry Potter World and need the discount. But seriously roadside is a joke and they have a good business method. Charge a huge fee for things that are needed, but never show up. Either way they get their money!

For all of you customers out there, here is one for the books. We have been AAA Premier members FOREVER and rarely need services. So the one time we do need services, guess what??? We had a bad cold weather week with subzero temperatures. My wife's car would not start so I said, "Call AAA." After my wife was placed on hold for 30 minutes, here it is: "Sorry, we cannot help you for the next 6 hours because we don't have anyone who can take the call.. we are inundated now."

No alternate services, NO recommendations for other services for which we could submit reimbursements. NOTHING!!! Sorry buddy! I guess what upsets me more than anything else is the lack of caring expressed by the AAA representative. Why not recommend other services for which we could pay, submit a receipt, and get reimbursed? It is this kind of thoughtlessness that has NO place in this kind of business. I really cannot understand how AAA has managed to stay in business as long as it has...

Two nights in a row you kept me waiting on towing service. I kept getting transferred or put on hold the first night for 2 hours until I had Uber come and get me. The next day when I tried again, the representatives kept pushing me back another 30-60 minutes and so another 2 hours have been lost. I'm definitely switching roadside coverage because you obviously don't know how to deliver. Thanks for nothing.

Extremely long wait times for emergency assistance. I was told, when I first called that the wait would be under an hour. Which would have been totally acceptable. Now it's been over 2 hours, in a freezing, non-running vehicle, on the side of the road. I'm going to have to go forage in the woods for materials to start a fire in a minute. But honestly, I live in the smallest state, corner to corner in 45 minutes..... I mean come on. Unacceptable.

Yesterday our car broke down, so we had it towed back to my house 3 miles from where I broke down so we could assess the situation and remove personal items like car seats and things to that nature. Well when I called AAA this morning to have it towed to a shop, they set it all up and I thought everything was fine. Until I get a call from a very disrespectful, disagreeable AAA rep. Who then proceeded to tell me that they would not honor their 100 free miles because I had it towed to my home. So I proceeded to have my mechanic husband try and get it running to get it to the shop. Well it died about 100 feet from my home in the middle of the road.

So I called AAA again and guess what? They still refused to tow it even though it was a "separate breakdown" because it was still in the vicinity of my home! Managers and reps, both we not understanding and not willing to help at all. So needless to say, we will not be renewing our gold membership ever. As of today I have road side assistance through my insurance company, it is cheaper and they honor their commitments! I will be telling everyone I know not to renew or sign up for AAA!

I called at 8:28 3/3/2015. I am a first time AAA caller. I have been a member before but never called for service - never had occasion to use. I recently got a membership because they kept shilling me via mail and sending special offers - so I signed up. Today was the first time call. A female called Molly answered and right from the get go I could tell that she was severely challenged in terms of listening to you or trying to be smart. She asked me my car model year twice. She asked me my car color twice. And I am talking from inside a room in my apartment as slow and clearly as possible. How do you categorize this?

Does AAA hire cut-rate human beings with listening problems and pay them less? Coming to the process of making contact with these people - First thing is they make you read out your 16 digit membership number. How stupid is this? Imagine being parked on the side of a freeway in a force 8 wind, driving rain and traffic whizzing by. You have take your card out and in the dim light of your cab read out this 16 digit number for these idiots to find your record? Why can't they use the number you are calling from? How about your name? How about your address? I tried to tell this Molly this feedback and she started arguing with me. She actually told me that reading out a 16 digit number was not a problem. I told her to tell her Manager to give me a call back at the earliest and hung up.

I requested a tow because my vehicle wouldn't start and I am leaving the country the next day. My mechanic don't have room to fix it while I'm away for 30 days so I arranged a place at a storage facility. I explained this to them and they sent a regular tow truck for my 4 wheel drive vehicle. We rolled the Jeep to a place the truck could hook on and when he lifted it, the front wheel locked up. He said it needed a dolly but then they called and stated it couldn't be towed to a storage facility because they don't repair there but it can to my house where it also isn't a repair facility. I have aaa plus rv and only used it a couple of times. Now my vehicle is half blocking a gate from their tow truck but won't return. How can they be in business with service like that.

My car battery had died due to the extreme cold temperatures, and so I called AAA to get a battery technician to come out to jump start and check it to make sure that the battery was still good. I called and placed my service request at 3:18 PM on Sunday February 22nd. The lady I spoke with informed me that the tech may be out by 6:18 PM but possibly sooner. When 7 pm rolled around, I called AAA and the lady I spoke with said that she couldn't guarantee what time anyone would be out. Around 9:30 pm I get a call saying that someone may not be out until midnight, but then around 1130 pm I get a call back saying that no one would be out that night and that they can come first thing in the morning.

Well, with how "reliable" AAA has been I made plans to get to work the next morning, and told the girl that I need someone to come after 5, and so we set it for 6 pm on the 23rd. Called back the next day to re-schedule for 5:30, and she said that she couldn't make any guarantees but she would mark it. When no one had come by 7 pm I just had another person jump it, they had a truck, and I drove to Advanced Auto Parts to check the battery. I then tried calling to cancel the battery tech, since my car was now operational, but after waiting on hold for over an hour I hung up.

Then they called on 2/24 around 10 am to say that a tech was there and to meet them. The one time I could actually answer the call, it was a voice automated call, so how was I supposed to tell them that I am fine now, and to send the tech on his/her way? Then one voicemail that I was able to listen to later, a girl from AAA said that the tech had waited 20 minutes and would need to leave. Just unbelievable service from them. Maybe if wait times to cancel an appointment didn't take over an hour, that tech could have gone to someone else for help. Maybe if your online system to check your road side service actually showed my incident this could have been resolved sooner. Thanks for making me feel like a valued member. Needless to say, I will not be with AAA next year.

I called AAA roadside service at 4:22 pm. After being on hold for about 15 minutes, a representative finally answered. I gave her the information and was told a truck would be by to the car between then and 7:10. I said "Wow, okay thank you." She said someone would call 5 minutes before arrival. Needless to say 7:10 came and went with no truck and no call. I called back about 7:15, waited on hold again to be told that basically because the car was in a driveway, it wasn't a priority. I understand taking care of emergency calls first, but 3 hours with not even a phone call is awful customer service! Anyway I was then told that a dispatcher would call with an estimated time of arrival. That was 45 minutes ago and still no call. I am so disappointed with AAA customer service. I am seriously considering canceling my membership as well as the gift memberships I have for my husband and son. :(

Unknown to me they mistakenly entered my initial yearly payment for my daughter and myself and CX my policy. Never called me nothing and it was all their error. HOW DID I FIND OUT - my daughter broke down on the side of the road 6 months into our contract and they wouldn't assist her. I was furious, spent the next 4 days figuring what was going on. Their reps were rude and kept you on hold for lengths of 20 mins several times a conversation. I also wrote a letter to NO avail. They don't correct their own mistakes. We were called around 2:00 pm and told approximate time would be 2:28, so went to vehicle location ten minutes prior to that time and 45 minutes later, no one had come. We called again at 3:00 and ended up speaking to a customer relations agent and they said they would expedite a service call and be there 1/2 hour, they also said that a message had been left (which would have to have been in the ten minute window). At about 4:00, we received help from a friend and returned home. Then around 6:15, we received a message saying they would be there at 6:40 pm. Received a call from a driver at approx. 6:30 and told him we would no longer need service.

All the calls that we made to AAA after the initial call, we were on hold for 10 minutes or longer. My wife even tried to call AAA to tell them we no longer needed a service call (through the main menu) and was told a 10 to 15 minute wait to speak with an agent. We are finished with AAA.

This incident happened Easter, 2012. I had signed up for AAA several months earlier after accidentally locking my keys in my car at a Target store. A friend had picked up my second set of keys at my house & brought them to me. She was annoyed and insisted I sign up for AAA so it would not happen again. Soooo - I signed up! I requested to be the primary, with NO secondary, as my husband was usually out of town on business & drove rental cars to get to & from the airport.

I had no reason to call for help until Easter 2012 when my 80+ year old mother thought she had locked both her keys & her wallet in her car, parked at my daughter's house (we were there for Easter dinner). I called AAA to send someone to come & unlock the car. I gave them my membership number, and was told 'Sorry, you are not the Primary, & we must speak to the primary." I explained that I WAS the primary and there was no secondary. They argued with me, saying my husband was the primary. We went round & round about this, with my explaining (again) why I did NOT put my husband's name on the policy (& yes, he was out of town, even on Easter).

My mother then said "Wait, I am also a triple A customer!" The only problem was she did not have her policy # because it was in her wallet (locked in the car)! I asked why they couldn't look up her number? They gave a lame excuse (I think they said they could not look up the number because my Mother lived in Indiana, whereas we were calling from a house in Illinois). WHAT??? AAA only helps you out if your car breaks down or you lose your keys while in your home state??!! We gave up & found someone on our own to unlock the car & retrieve the wallet & keys.

The following week, I tried to cancel my policy, explaining what had happened. They said they could not cancel the policy because it was paid up for the year. I requested that I be put on as the primary, but they said they could only add me as the secondary, but would correct the error when the policy was renewed. When I received the bill for renewal a few months later, guess what? The policy was still in my husband's name ONLY!! I cancelled and told them to stop sending me their promotions. Guess what I received in the mail yesterday - another AAA promotion!! It went straight to the garbage can. I apologize that I do not have an exact date or order number, as this occurred Easter Sunday, 2012.

After 90 min she called back they said your call was cancelled but we will be there in next 30 min and then after another hour they said another 30 min and so on, I called them myself and talked to supervisors after she said she is running out of gas and her phone was dying. They keep saying driver's on the way and after another hour the driver's showed up.

Bad service and most of all lying about the time and phone waiting took forever to get connected after calling 800 number they transferred me to 4 stated before they got me to MD. Mostly lies and I'm thinking to cancel my membership, if anything you can call another tow company rather than AAA.

First you call in and they have a 4 minute message about getting service on the web while I am on the "limited resources" of my cell phone. Then they ask me why I am calling. I asked to be towed to the Express Tire & Auto AAA sponsored repair facility 5 miles away from my home in Ladysmith, Va. Specifically I told them my Inspection sticker had expired. The CSR tell me to hold on & see if her supervisor will allow me to be towed. WTF? I Have Valid Tags; my tags expire in April 2016. Yet they say because I do not have a Valid Safety Inspection sticker on my car currently they will NOT authorize the tow... WTF am I paying for service like this?

Paying for your company to tow us 100 miles or more and this is first service call I have made in 3 years!!! Have 4 vehicles. Two of which are new Volvo's with their own Auto Service Tow Motor Company. That is less in Cost per year than AAA or AAA Plus. Why should I get bad service from a AAA operator + a 7 minute phone call wait while I wait to talk to a real PERSON... THIS SERVICE HAS absolutely GONE DOWN HILL.

It gave me an estimate of 120 minutes. 4 hours later, I am calling to the dispatcher's tow company affiliated with AAA (don't ask how I got their phone number). He said I have to wait another 1-2 hours and MAYBE EVENTUALLY SOMETIME TODAY SOMEONE WILL COME... and he said that if I call again - he will not send anyone. Time to open my own roadside assistance company... looks like there is lots of potential could be offered: a high quality customer service, at the minimum. AAA, fix your phones at least!

After keeping me on hold got they were never able to figure of where I was. Gave a four hour window. They never called me back to update. Ended up calling them several times for update. They auto routed me to other state based on my phone area code. Very painful navigation. After 2 hours I gave up and called local towing guy. Showed up in 10 mins and fixed it for me. AAA is useless. They never call you or update you. Even if they do expect several hours before someone shows up. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

I called to tow my car and requested a flat bed truck because my car is slightly low. They came with the truck I authorized and used blocks to pull truck on to flatbed. The destination was an hour away. 2 hours later my car was not there. Tow company said they were stuck in traffic. My mechanic called me to inform me that the tow truck driver dragged my car of "tow trailer" and didn't want to be responsible for the damage. He took pictures showing me all the damage. GETS WORSE!! It was not the tow truck that picked up my car! Driver said, "Look, I was told to pick it up from a lot and bring it here'. This is not what AAA informed me! They said he was stuck in traffic! GETS WORSE!! AAA told me to contact Airport tow who towed the car and ask them to deal with the damages, and of course they gave me the run around.

Less than two weeks later I get a cancellation notice stating I used my tow improperly! I'm sure this was retaliation by the tow company. I filed a dispute as AAA suggested and sent them the pictures of the damage and they still cancelled my policy after "so called" review. RIDICULOUS!! I have had drivers falling asleep while driving, drivers asking for tips, but to cancel my policy because I finally complained. SO WRONG!! In my dispute I asked them to send me proof of the statements made by the driver that showed I used the tow incorrectly. They gave no response or proof, and only provided a list of my past tows, which shows absolutely nothing.

Absolutely abysmal. AAA sent out a tow truck company called C&M Towing (located in Union, IL). The tech crossed the jumper cables, fried my battery and blew up my fuse box (550 in repairs + 113 in car rental). Driver shows up, hooks up cables, asks me to hold the box by the handle (I did) and starts the car. Car ‘horn’, not the alarm (because there is no alarm on the car) blares for 20-30 seconds straight. Driver of tow truck gets out, I ask him about it, he says "it wasn't supposed to happen." He says "the positive and negative are switched on the battery" which is not possible, seeing as how the battery came with the car (a 2009 Toyota Corolla bought directly from the dealer).

Sleazy driver claims to have no idea what happened. Drops my car and myself off at the dealership. Call AAA and tell them what happened. After getting two different estimates from two different shops, both saying the same thing, the final verdict is "well it's not up to us to pay because we're (AAA) not responsible, it's up to the tow company to decide if they want to pay, otherwise it goes to an insurance claim or small claims court". Point? Avoid AAA like the plague. Do not entrust these derelicts with the safety of you and yours or the well being of your vehicle.

I signed up for AAA because I have teenage drivers that I wanted protected through what I had always heard was a great program. I guess it's great in theory but in reality it's HORRIBLE!! My 17 year old son got the car stuck in a ditch 40 minutes from home at 9 pm on a Saturday night in the middle of a big city. Calling AAA they said it would be 3 hours before they could get him help. That would put my son alone until midnight. I decided to call another tow company but thinking I would be hard pressed to find anyone that could beat AAA's response time. Boy was I wrong.

The first towing company I called said they could be there in 30 minutes, but actually arrived in 20. If AAA cannot support its current membership they should reduce it or find additional contractors. A 3 hour wait is the poorest customer service imaginable and put my son in a potential dangerous situation. Sure, AAA will reimburse me for what I paid, but that isn't the issue. It's quite evident AAA has failed to secure sufficient help to cover their membership at least in Western Washington. By doing this, they have proven they are willing to put the safety of their members in jeopardy. If you are concerned only about money, AAA might be the way to go. But if you are concerned about the safety of your family members don't waste your money or time on AAA.

Spoke with many supervisors and I was told I wasn't priority since this was my 3rd call to AAA in the last year and my tow for today would cost the company, and they wouldn't make any money off of me today & they didn't care if I cancelled my membership. They told me it was okay to leave my car there with the key, that help was on the way because I was freezing and finally had a ride home. I was accused of abandoning my car and there was no guarantee they would come to tow it. Took 7 hours for AAA to finally put a call for roadside assistance. I called AAA for my car to be towed. Silver State Towing came out to tow my car last month. The person that came put a ding in my car. He was at my home for an hour. For the first 30 minutes he was standing back by my trunk above my tire. My son came in the kitchen and said "That guy has been standing in the same spot for 30 minutes, he's doing something to the car by the trunk". I looked out and saw him as well standing there. Well when I got my car back I noticed a ding that had been repaired with white finger nail polish. I had NO ding on my car previously. My vehicle is a classic and I take good care of it. I hardly ever drive it. After he painted the ding he took another 30 minutes to put my car on the flat bed.

I called AAA and was told they would take it from there and gave me a case number. I called AAA back because I did not get a call back. AAA told me to call them S.S Towing so I did. They told me they would be out that Friday & that someone would be coming out to look at my car. I spoke to the manager named Danny. On Friday I did not get a call. No one showed up after waiting all day. When I called them back on that Monday, They told me they had the wrong number. I wonder why they didn't call AAA for my phone number or just came out without calling me. I was expecting them.

They came out a week later. Two guys’ came out & took pictures. The short chubby guy was looking all over my car. I said the ding is on the right side. He was looking for more dings like I don't take care of my car. I told him I HAD NO DINGS ON MY CAR UNTIL YOUR WORKER PUT ONE ON MY CAR. I was told someone in their office would call me back. No one called me back. After a week I called them. I was told by a female "We can't talk to you".

My car still has not been repaired. We have witnesses and I would like my car repaired. They lied about the following. They said they called me several times. I can prove they did not by my cell phone bill. They said he was only at my house for 25 minutes when he was at my home for 1 hour. I have 5 witnesses. They said I did not let them take pictures. I had to keep calling to get them to come out. I have a witness for this also. They said my car has 5 chips. I have the only one that they did. Anyone can see for their self. I can't believe they would lie like this when I have proof available upon request. I take good care of my classic. AAA sent them. I was told I would have to deal with SST because they are contracted. (UNFAIR).

Had a dead battery in my SUV. AAA in Mt. Pleasant, SC drove out and replaced it. Within a year, it was dead again. I went to my regular mechanic thinking I had a bad alternator or electrical drain. They checked it and found that the battery provided by AAA was too small and did not meet the car manufacturer's spec. As I needed the car back, I had them put the spec battery in the car. I immediately called AAA and while not very helpful, they mailed me a claim reimbursement form a month later.

After another month, I received a form letter denying my claim because I had the battery replaced by someone else. A couple months later, when we did not renew membership, we get a call asking why. When we explain the situation, they say they'll try to help. The garage that contracts for AAA, asked if we had the old battery. When he found out that my mechanic disposed of the AAA battery after a couple months, he said they could not do anything. Do yourself a favour, buy a set of jumper cables, get roadside assistance from your insurance company for less money and NEVER let AAA touch your car as they will not back up their service or products.

I am building a new motor for the car (it was broke down and unable to run). In Florida if you do not have insurance on the car to prevent your license from being suspended you have to surrender your tag. I purchased AAA premium membership on 12-3-2014 for the purpose the roadside assistance and to tow my Jetta to my mechanic shop. I found out that I could not tow my car without a tag in (Per AAA policy), which is fine. I then call AAA and cancelled my membership immediately without using any of my services (my membership was 5 days old). I was told that I would get a "full refund since I did not use any of the services on my membership and since it was so new, and it would take 7-10 business days."

Two weeks went by and I called them wondering were my refund was. I then was told that "my membership was never cancelled" I voiced my concern about the situation since it was the holidays and I planned on using that money on my family for gifts. I then spoke to a manager that reassured me that he would take care of everything because he was the supervisor of the escalation office. He then told me that there was nothing he could do but send information to the claims department and that I should call back the following Monday to make sure everything was in motion. I called that following Monday as instructed and no one could reach the "manager that approved my refund". I then followed up later that week and talked to a gentleman that told me that "my refund was approved and that I should receive "a check for my full amount."

I asked him why I would receive a check when I paid with my card. He told me "because of the amount and that was AAA policy" Saturday came and left and no check came, this now being after the holidays I called on Monday (this now being over 5 weeks after the initial 7-10 business days for the refund) and spoke to a woman named Heather. She told me that the guy I spoke to was wrong and that they would never send out a check for the refunded amount. I then asked her "is it AAA's policy to continually lie to their customers?!!"

I refused to get off the phone until I spoke to a manager. She then told me that the manager in charge of my refund (Shelly **) can't be reached again. I still refused to get off the phone until I talked to someone in that department. A man got on the phone and finally told me that the "refund was sent to the wrong department and I asked him why no one noticed that something that didn't belong in your department via fax, email etc. I then asked the man "what would have happened if I didn't keep calling your company..." I waited and he came up with no response. I then told him that "your company would have ripped me off is what would have happened!!" He then told me that "he would personally take care of this since the manager that is in charge of my refund was still unavailable..."

I am still waiting on my refund almost 6 weeks later. I want to make something clear, I am not upset that AAA didn't help me tow my car. I'm upset that as a company, as a whole, LIED to me over and over again. DO NOT use this company. I ignored ALL the bad reviews and gave them the benefit of the doubt because there are so many people that complain, I was wrong. What a terrible company and I will never use them again.

She spoke with her supervisor by the name of Megan who also refused to issue a refund. This is unethical and I consider it a legalized robbery. Can someone please help? Despite a multitude of complaints against Sam's Towing and Recovery of Liberty, AAA New York continues to contract these scumbags as their towing contractor in Sullivan County. Not only did they rip me off, but they have ripped off many other motorists who had the misfortune to break down on Route 17. They are con-artists who prey on stranded motorists by either greatly inflating their repair bill, charging for services not rendered, or holding their car hostage for the payment of bogus "storage fees". If you would like to read the details of the many complaints filed against Sam's Towing and Recovery, Google their name in a search.

All these complaints are true. I work for a contractor for AAA for 4 yrs. I was always told to collect over mileage before dropping a car. If bill was not paid it went back to our lot until the bill was paid. I also did get calls that was 2 hours old. Then I had to deal with an irate member when in reality I only had the call at the most 30 mins. Then came the pay from AAA to the contractor. We used to get paid 19.00 base rate and 1.25 a mile after 5 miles to a call then 2.25 a mile after 10 miles in tow. So if you break that down as a company owner you make nothing after paying 35% commission to the driver "average pay to a driver" plus fuel plus insurance on the truck along with maintenance to the truck and any truck payments they may have. All I can say is consumers and business owners beware.

In Aug 2014 I had a lock out and requested service from AAA as I had a lock out. The service provider was 4 miles away from where I was. When I called the agent for AAA said it would be 45 minutes. When an hour and 10 mins went by I called again and they told me it would ONLY be another 45 minutes. Finally after another hour passed the owner of the place where I was offered me his keys to go home and get my spare key so I called and canceled the call. The next day I submitted a complaint to "member relations" and they said they would investigate it and get back to me, they never did. So today (Nov 29 2014) I was eating out at a restaurant and after eating my car wouldn't start so I call AAA not thinking that it would happen again. But sure enough after calling them 6 times I finally got the truck there waiting 2 hours and 10 minutes. I have had it with them after 28 years, I am looking for another service.

I live in Virginia but I am currently visiting family in Savannah. I am an honors member at AAA. I called requesting a tow truck at approximately 1:10 am and was told that a truck would be there by 2:15. Even though I am a middle aged woman and I was alone in a strange area I figured an hour would not be too long. At 2:40 am I called to see where the truck was and was put on hold for over 10 minutes. The rep came back saying The tow truck was in an accident and it will take another 45 minutes to get another truck there (A lie). Pretty upset at this point not only because if I didn't call I would have never gotten this information but also because it was freezing outside. I still kept my composure and said OK. At almost 4:30 am I called back to see what happened and was told Oh, I was just informed it will take another 45 minutes. Of course, once again THEY DID NOT CALL TO INFORM ME OF ANYTHING.

I CALLED THEM! Fortunately I was able to reach someone who came and fixed the car enough for me to drive back to the hotel. I finally got in a warm bed and was awoken by a call at 7:52 am saying, "You called for a tow truck?" I just said that I didn't need it anymore BUT then 10 minutes later AAA staff called because they wanted to confirm that I didn't need a tow anymore. I informed the young lady that I called for a tow at 1 o'clock in the morning and it was now 8 in the morning and they are now just calling. This was the most horrible experience with AAA ever, not the first but the worst. I will be cancelling my membership ASAP and believe me I will make sure that everyone who will listen will hear just how bad this company is.

Wife locked her keys in the car and I called AAA at 6:30 pm. Was rainy and cold. Gave wife my car so she and our child (2 yrs) could go home. Waited for 2 hrs. Called several times during this period to see what the issues was. Was told numerous times that the driver is a few minutes away or that he is outside and I should see him. Driver was clearly not there. Finally, several good Samaritans who had seen me waiting for so long offered to help me. One lady called her husband from home who came and he helped, the owner of the restaurant my wife was at was helping.

I called AAA one last time and reflected to them that I will fix this issue on my own. One lady (who is also a member of AAA) also called AAA in attempt to get assistance. Good Samaritans and I were working on getting the car open and a AAA driver then pulled up. He retrieved the keys in about 60 seconds. The driver overheard us talking regarding the wait and he pointed out that he received the dispatch 10 minutes earlier. The lady who was on the phone with AAA obtained the complaint line phone number and a reference number so I could address this issue with AAA.

The next morning, I contacted the complaint line and I walked the representative through the situation. I was essentially told "that's the way it is" and that she could note my complaint and have someone call me. I questioned how this resolves the issue for me and my concern with use of AAA services. She then reflected she will take the encounter off of my account as if it did not happen and won't count against my benefit. I again reflected this does not resolve my issue, especially considering I never use all of my AAA benefit each year anyway. The customer services rep and I became more and more agitated as our conversation progressed. She repeated herself over and over about noting the complaint.

I continued to point out this does not resolve my issue. She then asked how I would like the issues resolved. I reflected I am unsure of the options (other than note a complaint) and gave an example of maybe making membership half price or something like that. To my comment, I then heard a group of people laughing in the background. I then asked to speak to her supervisor. She pointed out that her supervisor is not available. I reflected that now there is someone that is her superior that should be available when she is unable to resolve an issue. She agreed that there was but supervisor is not available. I realized continuing was pointless, laughed, and said good bye.

I would give no stars if that option was available. I have had AAA for many years and was a AAA Plus member. My son wrecked his car in July and since we knew it would be a while before we could afford to get it fixed (and it was questionable whether it was repairable or not), we had the car towed to my residence. We have now realized that the car is not repairable so we called to get the car towed to a salvage yard. AAA refuses to tow to a salvage yard and states that their policy is to "only tow to a repair shop. " First, my home is not a "repair shop," but they towed the car there in July. Second, isn't a tow a tow, regardless of where the car is being taken? I called Customer Service and was treated in a rude manner.

If AAA really cared about their members, why would they refuse to tow a car to a salvage yard? Obviously they have a member who is already in a bad situation, and to make matters worse, instead of helping a member that they claim they care about, they refuse to tow the car to a location where their member might make a little money out of a bad situation. If they really cared about their members, they would change that policy and tow their member's cars that have been totaled to a salvage yard. Needless to say, I will not be renewing my membership, even though I have been a member for years.

I called AAA 3 days ago and the AAA worker took my credit card payment of $100.00 ($82.00 for Plus membership and $18.00 towards a $35.00 same-day service fee). AAA said that I should pay the remaining $17.00 of the same-day service fee to the tow truck driver. My car was to be towed 12 miles. Soon after towing began, the tow company owner called me and demanded $59.00. He said he wasn't making money on the tow and that he needed to make money on the tow. He asked if I understood that he needed to make money on the tow. I said yes, I understood, and that I made the agreement with AAA to pay his driver $17.00 cash, having already paid AAA $100.00

The tow company owner then asked if he could have AAA call me, and I said that yes, he could do that. When the tow truck driver's cell phone rang, he answered and indicated the caller was AAA before handing the phone to me. The person identified by the driver as a AAA worker demanded I pay more money. I denied that I had to pay more, as I had already paid $100.00 of the $117.00 total price of AAA Plus membership and same-day service fee, and that I would pay $17.00 to the tow truck driver, as directed by AAA.

The caller continued to demand more money, and I repeatedly refused to pay more than AAA told me was the price of Plus membership and same-day service. The caller then asked me to put the driver on the phone. I handed the phone to the driver, and as he talked with the caller, he drove the tow truck off the dark highway and onto the parking lot of a small shopping center where the stores were closed for the day.

A few moments later he hung up the phone and began driving the tow truck back onto the highway, and told me that the caller (identified as a AAA worker) told him to drop me off (end the towing) at that location (shopping center parking lot), instead of towing my car to the agreed upon destination, which at that time was about 2 miles away.

The tow truck driver then told me that he told the caller that he was "almost there" (the agreed upon destination of the 12-mile tow). Upon arrival at the destination, I paid $17.00 cash to the tow truck driver. The driver did not give me a receipt, and I did not ask for a receipt. As of today, the $17.00 cash that I paid to the driver has not been applied to my AAA account. All that shows is the $100.00 credit card payment that I made over the phone.

Today, AAA opened a complaint, and told me that the "numbers don't add up" and that it is not their policy to demand additional payment for towing when a tow is in process, and that any additional amounts due for towing are billed to a customer. The towing company owner and caller (identified as a AAA worker) demanded immediate payment of $59.00 more than AAA told me was the price of the membership and 12 mile tow, and the tow truck driver drove off a dark highway onto the parking lot of a small shopping center, because, according to the tow truck driver, the AAA worker told him to drop my car and leave me at that location, instead of driving to the destination. That was coercive. It felt like a threat. In effect, the message was - immediately pay $59.00 more, to the tow company's truck driver, or be dropped off along a dark highway 2 miles from your destination.

Wondering if the towing company AAA sent to tow my car routinely demands AAA customers immediately pay more money under threat of being dropped off/abandoned along a dark highway, I also wonder if the towing company routinely fails to give AAA customers receipts when cash is paid. I'm filing a complaint with the PA Bureau of Consumer Protection, and AAA has said that it will investigate my complaint, as well.

At that time a young woman assured me that she could help me only when I had given her an exact location, including cross streets. This is after dark, on a 2 lane highway where towns are sometimes 30 miles apart. She then told me I needed to walk to the closest mile marker so I could tell her which one was closest. I did inform her that I was exactly 4 miles south of the city of Hill City, Minnesota, and that the nearest towing company was most likely in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. At that time she became quite snippy as she informed me that they could "in no way" tow my car to Grand Rapids. She told me that I have "basic service that allows a 5 mile tow". I told her that my card says I have "plus coverage" and that I believed that I have 100 miles towing coverage. Then she went on to say that Michigan was over 100 miles. (Michigan????) When I set her straight about the state I was in, she proceeded to try to get me towed to a location that was over 4 hours away and in opposite direction as my home. When I asked for a supervisor she hung up on me.

They insisted that the battery was good and the Alternator had to be replaced. So I had to now tow my vehicle to a mechanic. The mechanic tested the battery and found that it was crappy. He gave me a print out with the reading and asked me to replace it. The Alternator was good.

I called AAA again and asked them to replace the faulty battery. The person who came told me that the battery looked bad and it seemed to have a leak, so he gave me a new one, but refused to accept the warranty as AAA in So Cal hadn’t entered the battery details into the system. I showed him the receipt from AAA, but he still refused to accept it. I called AAA, but they asked me to pay again as the information was not in their system. Convenient of them to sell a battery and not enter it into their system. After replacing the battery (paid twice in 2 weeks), I called them to register my complaint and ask for a refund. Apparently, they have a paper process. They will send me a letter, that I have to fill out and resend to them. So much for a faulty battery that they sold me resulting in multiple tows. Well my ignition started locking up with key in it and wouldn't release the key at times. And other times the car would not start or even click when key depressed and after several attempts it would suddenly start. Also my check engine light had come on so I put it in the shop...

Well they couldn't recreate the key locking into the ignition and not releasing so no fix there. But they did trace the starting problem to the starter and they found the check engine light was a cam sensor. They also said it had a broken motor mount... Now here is the breakdown: Diagnostic for the check engine light $110 - 10% member discount, Starting problem diagnostic $110 - 10% member discount, Install Cam sensor parts $102.98, Labor $110 - 10% member discount. Now when they called about the Motor mount I told them to do it but on final bill it was put in as a recommendation. Now the Starter replacement they wanted $380.74 but instead I bought a starter for $184 +tax and it took 15 minutes to install...

Overview of my bill for 2 diagnostics and install of a cam sensor that also is a 15 minute job and a $20 oil change $464.1... And I still need a motor mount... HOW CAN THEY JUSTIFY CHARGING DEALER LABOR FEES EVEN WITH MEMBER DISCOUNT AND TAKE A 15 MINUTE JOB AND CHARGE A FULL HOUR?

Cut to next morning. I called AAA again for a tow truck. I was given an initial window of 10 minutes. So, I went out and waited near to the car. When it was well past 30 minutes, I called again and at this point I was asked to wait another 30 minutes. This process continued for another 2 and half hours. Every time I had to call them and fight with them. Eventually, I spoke to one of supposed "supervisors" and he assured me that they will credit me for one towing. It's been one and half months since then and I haven't heard from AAA. So, I called up today and as usual they repeated the same boat-load of non-sense. Apparently, as per their records, they fulfilled all my towing requests. I always wanted to tow my car from SF to Mountainview, but I was trying to be accommodating and let me tow my car the next day. In return, they decided to screw me over by charging twice. This is the worst service in the history. Avoid them at any cost. They are thieves and hopefully one day they will go out of business.

Waited on tow for over 3 hours! First call somehow no one got dispatched, second call the tow truck passed right by us and proceeded to tell us his boss told him to take another call! When we pleaded for him to pick us up, he demanded payment upfront! (We were going through AAA which I pay $100 a year membership to cover service!) Then I was on hold with AAA for 30 minutes trying to find out what was going on and was told it would be another 30 minutes to get a truck to us! This was the scene of an accident and the 3rd attempt to dispatch a truck successfully!

After 3 hours, I called a different company and they only took only 15 minutes. This whole nightmare was so unacceptable and outrageous. Worst service experience of my life. Much of why I originally went with AAA was for "peace of mind" in case something ever does happen I am taken care of. If I cannot at least have that then there is no point of staying a member. I will never be a member again and will tell all my friends and family to never join AAA and do not renew membership.

Roadside assistance dispatched Wissinger towing in Mineral point Pa. to tow my car to a garage. It took two hours for them to arrive even though their shop is less than 20 miles away. The driver could not operate the roll back trucks controls and the winch would not function. He then damaged (gouged and broke) my front bumper by trying to drag it onto the rollback. The driver then calls the owner to come out and see damage he caused. Owner shows up and proceeds to curse and yell, and approach me in a threatening manner with a metal flashlight in hand.

Subsequent calls to AAA were a run around and they were not interested in hearing my complaint. One representative even went as far as saying she had spoken to the tow truck owner and has the information she needs without allowing me to submit pictures and a statement. Another representative called me days later and says he will have the owner or insurance co. contact me, never happened. This towing company has had other complaints documented and remains a contracted vendor of AAA. I, my family, friends and anyone who will listen, will NOT be renewing our AAA memberships. This company has outlived its usefulness and I will NEVER spend another dime supporting them. Isn't AAA supposed to be in the business of protecting their members?

For about the past year my car periodically would not start because the battery suddenly "died". At first I thought it was an electrical problem. Every time the AAA came out and the battery was checked it passed AAA's battery test. Last February I had my car in for a routine service and the battery conveniently died while there. Luxury Motor Works in Monrovia CA (a very reliable service center that I've used for many years) called to tell me the electrical system was good but the battery needed replacement. I then called AAA to come out and replace the battery. But when AAA arrived they once again deemed that the battery was okay and refused to replace it. It was under full warranty at that time. I told AAA that they should replace the battery because there obviously was something wrong with it and that I shouldn't have to accept an unreliable battery.

They refused to replaced the battery because "it was taking a charge". So I've been driving with this questionable battery which again failed this last month. This time it was pronounced dead by Wards Auto Service in Monrovia. They are an authorized AAA repair shop. But even with all the evidence from a credentialed repair shop, AAA refused to replace the battery because they once again said it was okay, i.e. "it was taking a charge". And now the battery is out of full warranty. That was the last straw. Jim Ward, owner of Wards Auto Service, indicated that the battery manufacturer that AAA uses has 4 grades of batteries. AAA purchase and installs the lowest grade. That's all I needed to hear. Between the cheap batteries and lousy battery service I'm never again going to use AAA batteries in any of my cars.

In March, 2014, my car broke down out in the middle of nowhere, near Death Valley, Calif. I am a 63 year old woman and I was alone. There was no cell phone service, as there are no cell phone towers nearby. I sat there for over 2 hours, alone, wondering what I was to do. I was afraid to stop stranger and afraid not to. I was across the street from the turn off to a lonely rest stop, about a 1/4 mile of the road. I saw one car pull in and could see a man get out of the car but I didn't walk down there because it was too deserted and I was afraid.

About a half an hour later another car pulled in and I saw a man and a woman get out. I figured that with three people and two different vehicles I was probably safe. I walked down there and asked to use a cell phone. They both said that there was no service there. The man and woman offered to give me a ride but I was not about to get in their car but they also said that they would take my info and call someone for me. I gave them my AAA member # and my 23 year old grandsons phone #. They kindly drove the 60 miles into Baker, Ca and called my grandson in Pahrrump, NV for me.

He called AAA and they would not send help because he did not have every number that was on my card. He had the entire member number but not the club code or the other misc numbers. I waited out there alone for 6 hours, not knowing if anyone was going to help me. I did not know if the next person coming by was going to help, ignore me or hurt me. If it had been August I could have died as the temps reach over 120 degrees. My grandson finally was able to come and get me. We had to leave my car there for 3 days before we got it towed to Pahrrump, 60 miles away. I was lucky that it was not vandalized. Then I had to leave it in Pahrrump for a month and a half before I could get it towed to my home in Lancaster, CA.

Mind you there was NO HELP from AAA. I have called them several times since and they just keep telling me that they will have someone look into it, but no one calls me back or gives me an explanation. They do not seem to care that they had an active member at risk and stranded without help or protection. It has been now over 6 months and I still as of this time had no one offer me any valid explanation or sincere apology. It doesn't seem to matter to them. They have no conscience or humanity.

I asked one supervisor how he would feel if it was his mother or wife and all he could say was that he would be frustrated. Are you serious? What good is Emergency Road service if when you are in a real emergency they will not help? I have had them come out when I have locked my purse in the car and did not have any of my number handy. They told me they would get the numbers when they open my car. The worst customer service I have ever experienced! I could have been raped, murdered or died of heat stroke. They do not seem to care.

Bought a AAA Battery Just 3 years ago. My vehicle would not start. After 4 hours of charging at home, the car still wouldn't start. AAA sends a road tech and also CAN'T start it. He then tests the battery and his meter reads 10.4 volts. Using a booster, he starts the vehicle. He then says he can't replace it because it's not under 10 volts. I tell him CLEARLY, the car still won't start. He still can't replace it. The name of the road service is Classic Auto Service. The warranty AAA is obviously flawed. If their battery won't start the car, that should be their first requirement for warranty. 10.4 volts did not turn on my 8 cylinder vehicle. If AAA/ Classic Club Service sold me a battery that did not meets my vehicle's requirements, they are responsible. Now all I have is a worthless battery.

AAA was called on 9-8-2014 when myself and my elderly mom were at a parking lot in the rain. I asked the AAA tow driver whether it was safe to drive the car and he said "yes." I asked for a battery check and the driver said it wasn't necessary. If he had done that test he would know that the problem was *not* the battery. AAA driver said he tows to his friend's (non-AAA) repair shop in Raleigh.

Five days later (on 9-13-2014), I find out that the problem was a broken (or five days earlier *breaking*) timing belt. Now instead of a repair for a breaking timing belt, there is nearly $4000 worth of damage and I am without a car for 2 weeks. So, I mention to AAA the fact that I need to trust AAA when I am driving my elderly mom in the car. And they are again indifferent to the safety of my family and myself and any other person on the Interstates and town roads on a rainy night.

Not only do I have tremendous damage to the car and no car for 2 weeks, but I now have less confidence in towing companies in NC. If AAA allows unsafe cars to be on the road when the driver inquires about a towing, then cars are driving on NC roads in an unsafe manner and that is an absolute life and safety issue.

Went into work, 4.5 hrs. later discovered my keys in ignition and complete absence of any engine function or sound when key moved to start position. Called AAA, service tech arrived, very polite, less than 10 min. wait. He tested battery with some measuring device and told me "you have a bad cell in your battery". I asked what that meant and he said "you need a new battery". I told him I found it hard to imagine that my battery would go from no problem to completely dead because I had a bad cell.

I told him I would leave the car and have my husband deal with it later. Then he said "oh, do you want me to jump the battery?" I told him that was the point of the whole thing. He jumped the battery and it has worked fine since. I called AAA and asked what the process was supposed to be and was informed that I was supposed to get a printout of the battery analysis showing the readings. I did not get a reading. I then asked the AAA rep to further explain the process and she said that the service technicians are supposed to suggest batteries that AAA sells. This seems like a conflict of interest.

I have a BMW that sat in the garage for 3 weeks due to my having surgery. It would not start so I called AAA roadside service. The man who came said I needed a new battery, even though the one in the car was only 1 1/2 years old. He said "if your car won't start after only 3 weeks in the garage, that means you need a new battery."

He then had a very young, obviously inexperienced man install a new battery.. It was installed wrong, not even secured, and due to some faulty installation or wiring, my lights and air conditioner stopped working the next day. The car also lost a lot of power. I took it to the BMW service and was told due to the faulty installation, the wiring in my car was close to being completely ruined. They felt the connections had been switched.

Subsequently, my car's electrical system had extensive work done to make it safe to drive. I called the AAA roadside service man and he was very rude, told me there was no way the car would start if the battery had been installed wrong, and told me I had a bad attitude and he was not going to talk to me anymore about it (My adult niece was present when all this was going on).

I asked for the regional supervisor's phone number. He gave it to me, and the supervisor in Kansas City, was also very rude, told me he would do nothing. I told him I had heard the company had given their roadside workers a quota to sell new batteries. He told me that was a lie, and that the batteries were quality ones, and AAA members were lucky to get them at a good price. I told him I was not satisfied with his treatment of me and asked for his supervisor's name and contact number. He told me "that won't do you any good, he will just send your complaint back to me."

I did not pursue the matter, but I continued to have trouble starting my car. The battery continued to die often and I finally was told by AAA they would no longer pay to have my car started by their service because I had to use their service "too many times". I took my car to BMW and was told that the battery was not strong enough to power all the needs of a BMW, so I had to purchase another battery. They said AAA "should have known this car takes another kind of battery, looks like you were 'taken'".

A letter was received later from AAA stating many of their batteries were defective and I could have mind checked as a local NAPA store. If it was found to be defective, they would let me return it and they would refund the money I had spent to purchase it.. I had saved the battery after replacing it at the BMW center, so I took that battery to NAPA, they tested it and found it had very low power and that my car needed to be jumpstarted every other day when it was in my car.. They certified this and informed AAA and I received a refund.

I wonder how many other people were a victim of the battery scam..and maybe if I had not just had surgery, being an elderly, single woman, maybe I would have been so easily fooled. I had told the service man I needed my car almost daily for medical appointments, so guess he saw an easy mark. The rude and threatening behaviors I received from both the local service man and the regional manager was very shocking and upsetting, calling me a liar and saying it would do me no good to complain further. I still grit my teeth when I see the car with "Pop-a-Lock" and AAA roadside service, on the doors, around town. I had been a member of AAA for over 10 years and did not receive a refund after AAA cancelled my membership for "too many service calls", due to THEIR defective battery.

The customer service dept informed us the tow truck was 15 minutes away. No one came after 1/2 hour. We continued to wait patiently. A police officer stopped as well as cars and residents. We decided to call back. They assured us they were only 1/4 mile away and will be there shortly. Another 1/2 hour later no one called us to inform us of the update. We called back. We are elderly people in our eighties waiting in a hot car. No one ever called us back to reassure us of the update.

Almost another 1/2 hour and the tow truck finally arrived. Lakeside towing who has a contract with AAA told AAA that it would be over an hour. Once again no one told us of the time difference. They had our information and our cell phone #. The priority should be first come first serve. Their customer service dept has computers and GPS so they know exactly the time it should take for arrival. AAA is a large corporation with many subsidies in over 50 states. AAA should learn to tell time because waiting is an important element in roadside assistance. 25 years of renewals. We used them twice and now we may never use them again.

I had to recommend alternate options I knew they had, to minimize service I really didn't need. I called after 72 hours due to being unable to locate battery options for my motorcycle type.

It seems the service rep didn't know anything about whether they had batteries or about the service. She then stated, "I know we have them but I don't know the different brands." She recommended I rephone in the morning and speak with service department. I was told by the representative he didn't know and to "hold". I waited 25 minutes on hold then had to return to work responsibilities. I phoned later after work and asked to speak w/ a supervisor. Again, placed on hold for 30 minutes. I was then disconnected.

I phoned when I returned home and spoke with a very sweet young lady, with whom I recapped the scenario and my dissatisfaction. She quite frankly stated, "No, we do not replace motorcycle batteries". She apologized for the inconvenience and attempted, several times, to transfer my call to a "supervisor," per my request. No resolve took place after 30 additional minutes on the phone and 5 attempts later. I requested cancellation of my membership. She politely stated I would need to call another number to do so. Beware if you are purchasing from the advertised "Deals" offered by the American Automobile Association (AAA). I am a Premier member of AAA that subscribes to AAA's "ClubDeals". I was solicited by AAA ClubDeals and subsequently purchased an expensive item on 6/25/2014, and I have never received said item, one month later, as today is 7/24/2014. The disturbing issue is that when I have tried to resolve this issue with AAA over the past 3 (three) days, I have gotten NO assistance whatsoever, despite my multiple emails and posts on their appropriate webpages, and phone calls with more than a half dozen AAA "customer service" reps.

These reps ALL claim that ClubDeals are a separate entity from AAA membership services and they can only refer me to an elusive department, that when I call the number (855-222-3245) I get a answering machine asking me to "leave your name and number and we will get back to you shortly". I left my name and number 72 hours ago, and still have not heard from anyone from AAA. I intend to dispute my credit card payment and personally write to AAA President & CEO. Shame on you AAA!

I did everything they said & the car wouldn't turn on later the same day. Called back & they came by again. Their agent stopped by and told me he can't replace my battery and put me on the phone with his manager (Norma **) and I expressed my frustration that I was stranded on the street because of the battery they did not fix. (Please note: I did not use profanity or anything else. I merely told her how disturbed I am by the bad service I've been receiving.) Norma had the audacity to yell at me. I asked her to lower her tone and asked for her last name. She refused to give me her last name, insulted me and hung up the phone on me! I've never been so disrespected in my life.

I quickly pulled out my temporary AAA card and called for assistance. I was told by account services that even though I was in their system, because they had not received my payment they could not provide the service. I was furious, but I offered to pay the AAA person upon arrival and that didn't workout. I am done with AAA. I'd rather pay for auto assistance through my insurance or call the local motor assistance. If AAA can't help me change my tire at 9pm, I don't need them.

Some lady has called here three times but never leaves a number where I can call her back. Logically she should leave a number where I can call her back because she will most likely not reach me. Still of course no card. I don't think I'll ever receive it. Things have changed at AAA, I was treated rudely when I was there; it was unbelievable and now not leaving a telephone number where I can call them back. If I ever talk to them I will ask them to just send my card to their office & I'll pick it up. Why must I suggest this? I don't believe for one minute they have ever sent out a card. I receive my bank statement, stock statements and very important mail, & never have had a problem in receiving anything else. Now each time a card is supposed to be made up and sent it can't be done. This morning, I needed a jump start for a 15-month old battery. I am not upset about the standard AAA service. That part was done with high satisfaction. I called for a jump start and and they showed up in less than 20 minutes. Phone service was good. Updates were good. The wait time was great. What I am pissed about is that the guy tried to get me to buy a battery I did not need. When he showed up he was already saying things like "probably a dud battery" before he even open the hood of the car. He attached some kind of diagnostic machine that made no sense and rambled on about voltages and what not. He said the battery was no good and would need to be replaced. I tried to ask about driving around to charge it or if I had enough life in it to take to the dealer to check my warranty.

He kept inferring that the battery was no good and it was at my own risk to try to drive it. He rambling about batteries needing certain amperages to turn over and I'd have to drive to Vegas just to charge it enough for it to crank up again. I was already skeptical but I was in a pinch and needed my car functional so I told him to just put in a new battery. In the meantime I got in the car which was running and shut the door. I noticed the dome light was left on. I got that sick feeling in my stomach and quickly pulled out my phone to do a Google search. I came up with a lot of hits about AAA battery scam complaints. Before the guy got the new battery in I told him to forget it. I'd take my chances with the "dud" battery.

Since the car was running I drove over to Pep Boys and they checked the battery for me. Their test only said the battery was low but not dead. The PB mech said I need to drive around to charge it some more and then retest it to be sure. He also noted that if it was a complete dud then it wouldn't hold any charge and shouldn't turn over by itself at all, which it had already done 4 times since my initial jump. I drove it around for a couple hours and checked the turn over a few times. Started up instantly. The next morning it started up again - no problem. I drove over to Pep Boys again and retested. All my voltages and amperages and whatever else a battery does was fine. The PB mech said it look slightly low but nothing indicated a problem with the battery. He didn't recommend that I get a new battery. So why did AAA?

I too have had a recent negative experience where a 2 yr old battery from AAA died 3 times over a weekend and they wouldn't replace it. They give me the typical canned response that others have documented. They also throw their 3rd party contractors under the bus claiming it is their decision and that AAA are not "battery experts". Last time I checked, the battery said "AAA" on it! The problem is that AAA will not reimburse their 3rd party even if the tests are +/- 1v within compliance. To the guys on the field, it's a bad battery but they will not swap it out because they know AAA will not back them.

After numerous escalations and spending inordinate amount of time with them on the phone - threatening, arguing, etc, they reluctantly replace my battery. What bothers me about my whole experience is instead of doing the right thing, they wait to see whether the customer will persist and "wait it out". To me, this is not right. What I encourage others to do is to file a complaint online with the Department of Consumer Affairs.

I needed 2 or 3 jumps from them on their battery and was repeatedly told the battery from them was still good. I waited on average about an hour and a half each time. One day I had car trouble and limped into a repair facility to see about getting it fixed. They gave me an estimate that was way too high and I could not afford to pay it at the time so I called AAA roadside assistance to have my car towed back to my home to try to fix it myself. I mean I paid for AAA service and felt confident AAA was going to be there for me. NOT!!!

They put me on hold and called the repair shop to check on my car then told me that "My car was worth more than the $700.00 that it would take to repair it" so they denied my tow request because it was at a repair facility that could do the work. Makes me wonder if it's some kind of scam between AAA and repair shops. If the auto shop said $7000.00 I still would not get a tow home. I said, "So next time I need a tow I should push my car out into traffic and create a emergency so I can get a tow" and they responded, "We can't tell you to do that".

AAA made a bad situation into an awful experience. I ended up paying $80.00 to have my car towed home and I fixed it myself for about $100.00. If they have problems with people abusing the service for tows I can see their point but I rarely used it in 15yrs. You think they could evaluate each case. Just look in the computer to see if you abuse the system. No chance, you become a quality customer of 15yrs and get lumped into the same category as the worst customer. Then they have the guts to keep sending junk mail for me to upgrade for being a valued Plus RV customer.

AAA roadside service has become a bad joke. AAA has gotten greedy and it will cost them customers. Shame on AAA and their AWFUL policies. If something works great for many years and then turns on you it's time to take my business someplace else. Too bad AAA that you decided you are so big that individual people mean nothing anymore.

Called multiple times for inspecting the battery and always they were specifying there is some issue with Car which is draining the battery overnight. I took to several service centers, dealership and spent more bucks for diagnosis but keep ending there was no issue with Car. Finally took to an auto electric shop. They diagnosed and concluded it was the battery issue.

After that as well AAA came, ran some test on the battery and said battery is good. My auto electric service person explained what was the issue, but the AAA person came said the battery can't be replaced. To prove the theory of diagnosis done by auto electric shop they gave a temporary battery. Next day there wasn't an issue with car, and Car started as usual. Then called AAA and explained what I did. AAA said first of all the battery installed by them shouldn't be removed and that voids the warranty. Warranty is always for the battery and not for the installation. I kept explaining member services team but AAA wasn't able to listen to me and said they can't do anything with this. I will not renew my membership this time and will never opt battery service from AAA. It is a waste of time and money. Warranty is just a piece of information on paper and they just try to find fault to see how they shouldn't replace the battery.

I have been a member for 15+ years and on 2/12 I requested a return tow of my disabled vehicle from a repair shop. AAA had originally towed the vehicle there when it broke down and when they couldn't repair I requested a return tow to my home. After being promised a driver who finally showed up after several hours, he refused to tow the car citing the vehicle had no windshield. When I told him to come view the car to show it was intact he refused and drove off. He was quite rude - tow service was Hamner. I called AAA and they assured me they would dispatch another tow with priority.

I waited and when 45 min had passed I called again to be told no tow had been dispatched. Again I was told one would be sent. Within 15 minutes I heard from a dispatcher who told me they would not send a tow (3 plus hours have now expired) because my car does not comply with the policy. I indicated it was brought here by AAA and said he would report that tow as outside policy guidelines as it does not qualify as roadside assistance as my car had no steering wheel, or doors. I told him that was not correct and I could send him a pic via phone of the car. He would not agree and told me that the only tow would be at a charge. I asked to talk to a supervisor. The supervisor was apologetic but reiterated the same and was going to send out the same towing company that had originally denied to tow me and drove off after being extremely rude.

I reread the AAA guidelines for towing (I have the premier membership) and a disabled vehicle qualifies so the only reason I can think they denied me is that they are attempting to reduce their costs and cheat members of what they pay for through their membership. To add to this violation of my membership terms I was treated rudely and virtually called a liar about the condition of my car. So after waiting over 3 hours and many calls to AAA with no result I had to secure a tow on my own - I was abandoned by them and left in a dark parking lot outside an auto repair shop only to end up having to call and get a towing company on my own. I requested to have a manager contact me but no one reached out to me. This level of customer service and treatment was disappointing and needs to be looked into but denying members services they have paid for is just wrong.

In July 2011 I had a dead battery and AAA came to my rescue with their mobile battery service. I purchased a battery from them and was told it had a 3-year replacement warranty. Fast forward to February 2014. On 2/4/14, my car didn't start, so I called AAA who came out and jump started it, and tested the battery, said it was going bad but tested fine for now and that I must have left something on that drained the battery, and if it didn't start again the next time I should either call AAA or take it to an AAA location for a replacement.

The following day, 2/5/14, again it wouldn't start so I called them again, confident that I would be given a replacement. Nope. The technician tested the battery and said it was 'marginal' but not bad enough to justify a replacement. Two days running doesn't warrant a replacement. They said, "If it happens again, you'll have to call us again. Or, take it to a mechanic and have them test it and if it's bad bring it to us and we'll replace it." In my personal opinion, that's an awful lot of running around and inconvenience, not to mention all the calls that are charged to my account. I don't fault the technician, he had to do what he was told and he was clearly uncomfortable. When I called the customer service line and spoke to a supervisor I got nowhere, and the supervisor was actually quite hostile about it.

This morning - day 3 - again my car did not start. I took it to my mechanic. Nothing wrong with anything but that battery which they said was leaking battery acid and appeared that it was much older than the 2 1/2 years I've had it. I do not recommend this service. They don't stand behind their warranty and are indifferent to customer service, and I believe they are selling substandard batteries. Yes it was convenient 2 1/2 years ago. But the warranty is a joke. After being a AAA member for most of my driving life - 30+ years - I am seriously considering looking for roadside service elsewhere for me and my family. I am DEFINITELY never going to buy a battery from them!

I have ended or they ended the relationship I would have after 20 years. In so many years there is no accountability, customer service or anything else. If you use your membership they do not want you. When you complain no one responds. I want to share with the public that avoiding this company is smart. They are a rip off, they have horrible rude service and you can spend hours on the the road when they screw up the call and when you keep calling since they forgot about you. You then can get charged for 2 calls.

I had a problem with my car probably about 50 or more miles from my home. I thought I had a good car insurance that has my back when I have problems like this with my car. I have not had to use their service in a long time, but when I did I had nothing but long waiting hours on phone and a long time to wait for a towing truck. Instead of the person from AAA telling me where to send the bill, I have to wait again on the phone and I'm not saying just 10 or 15 mins. I was on a very busy intersection with my car and needed roadside assistant and I'm having to wait. I wish it would be the same way when they collect money from me for my car insurance every month. You know I would be cancelled and without car insurance. When I first had AAA their service was excellent, now years down the road, their service stinks! It should go both ways for the service they gave me and give me a discount. I'm thinking seriously of looking into another insurance company and would not recommend anyone to get insurance through AAA!

January 19, 2014 about 12:30 p.m. our Cadillac SRX slid off the foot of the snow-covered driveway as we were turning into the driveway from the main road. In that it couldn't gain traction in the 6" of ground snow, I left it on there on level ground, where it rested about six feet (6') beside the driveway, and walked the 1/4 mile to the house to telephone our snow plough provider. He arrived in 20 minutes and plowed the 1/4 mile driveway in short order; but, the Cadillac was yet snowbound. I additionally, telephoned AAA, told them the situation. AAA dispatched a tow truck & driver.

After one follow-up call and about an hour-ten subsequent to the initial call, the responding, young driver (20-something) assessed the situation and asserted: "AAA won't cover it; but, I'll do it for cash." I objected, telephoned AAA and relayed that conversation, who subsequently called the driver's shop while placing our call on hold. AAA clerk returned to the line to inform me that the driver had decided that the patchy, 1-mm-thin, residual, 1"-3"-wide snow patches on the driveway would put his vehicle at risk and utlimately refused to pull the Cadillac onto the driveway in any event of AAA-or-cash unless the driveway was "sanded;" that is, spread sand onto the residual snow (scattered and intermittent mm-thin patches that were already melting). We sent him on his way with notice that I'd call our snow plough driver immediately to have that criterion met, then renew the AAA call for service.

I called our snow plough provider, who arrived in five minutes (he's a neighbor on our street). He told us that he was out of sand; but, that he can do it tomorrow morning about 7:00 a.m. I immediately thereafter telephoned and complained to AAA, here concerned, to which first the telephone-answering-agent, then her supervisor cavalierly asserted that the tow truck driver's assessment of the situation prevailed over my assessment (which was, in that we walked up to the house and drove the BMW Z3 (sports car) down that 1/4 mile driveway shortly prior to the tow truck driver's arrival, such that the evidence speaks for itself that sufficient traction existed that the tow truck driver's vehicle could gain purchase on the newly ploughed driveway such that he would not be placing his equipment in jeopardy). Each was surprisingly understanding, her saying,"I understand," after every statement I made.

I was approaching frustration with their patronizing, useless piffle comparative to that I'd have experienced in attempting to teach an oyster to play the violin. I admonished both the agent and AAA supervisor that I am the customer in this situation who pays for services advertised via membership; and, the tow truck driver is their means of providing the contractual service. Consequently, why does AAA inexorably accept the tow truck driver's situational assessment over mine, such that their contractor (tow company) decides whether or not AAA road service shall be situationally honored over customer service? Rather like the tail wagging the dog. After all, I've more than a nodding acquaintance with my home's driveway!

I requested that my grievance be transcribed and filed, to which the supervisor contumeliously dismissively denied any accountability for her reckless malfeasance and referred me to file any complaint I have with AAA Arizona (where I purchased and hold my membership). I observed to no avail, that Massachusetts AAA should receive complaints concerning Massachusetts AAA's abuses of discretion, not Arizona AAA. The AAA supervisor inexorably, contumeliously, cavalierly, recklessly, carelessly iterated that if I choose to complain about the foregoing situation, then I must complain to Arizona, where I hold my AAA membership (apparently, Massachusetts AAA believes it's autonomous from the AAA corporation... rather a curious perspective, I say).

I inquired of the AAA supervisor of what use AAA road service is to this "Premier" customer if it provides advertised services capriciously and is willing to unconscionably leave customers in the lurch at the whim of one of AAA's contractors (recall that the driver initially said he'd do it for cash, then defensively reneged as the situation became more political). She changed the subject to maintain control of our telephone conversation. I, finally, reached my limit of listening to her dissembling sophistry and disconnected the line. It's now about 3:30 p.m. and the Cadillac is yet stuck beside the commencement of the driveway.

So, I and mine did a bit of shopping in the Z3, came home; drove up the same 1/4-mile driveway that the tow truck driver had two-hours-previously considered too dangerous to use to move the Cadillac about six (6) feet onto the driveway proper; and, now sit comfortably while our SRX is yet at the base of the driveway because it can't acquire sufficient traction on the ice/snow to pull itself out. Consequent of AAA's unreliability and breach of contract via abuse of discretion, we made plans to extricate the Cadillac ourselves, tomorrow.

AAA's negligence cost us half-a-day (dawn-dusk during winter in Massachusetts) of the living of life, in addition to coping with the emotional distress generated from their abuses of policy and us. Massachusetts AAA's road service is reliable only if it so chooses. Massachusetts AAA, clearly, recognizes no duty under its contract-of-adhesion and appears cavalierly accepting of a potential lawsuit, there concerned, during its continuation of business-as-usual; cost of doing business, you know; small potatoes.

On December 18, 2013, I called AAA membership customer service to let them know I had a battery going bad in my diesel truck that I had purchased from them and was still under a pro rated warranty. I had to call back 3 times before I could find a customer service rep that could actually find where I had purchased my battery because it was under a previous membership number that was still under my name. When I finally got a hold of someone that knew what they were doing, I instructed them that my truck had died a week before but I had jumped it myself. I had just gotten home from taking my truck into O'Reilly Automotive and had the batteries checked and they had instructed me that the battery I had purchased from AAA was going bad and because I drive a diesel, I have two batteries...They stated if I didn't replace the one that was going bad immediately, it would end up causing my other battery to go bad as well.

So I told the rep at AAA that my truck was currently running but won't be for long and I needed to find out what I could do in order to exchange the battery under my warranty. She stated they would send out a service tech and I would not be charged the service. The service tech (a female from Jardine's) showed up to check my battery and although she confirmed the battery was going bad, she would not be able to replace it until my truck had died and left me stranded. While testing my battery she also put her battery charger directly on the paint of my fender and scratched it (which I informed her of while she stood there).

I filed a complaint with AAA, spoke with a manager who basically instructed me of the same thing and pretty much told me he didn't believe me my paint was scratched. On 1/5/14 my truck actually died due to the same bad battery so I called AAA again. I told the customer service rep at that time that the last time I called in December Jardine's tech told me they didn't have my battery in stock so make sure they have one in stock before they come to my home to replace it. She verified they had one in stock while on the phone with me and set up another service call (which I should not have been charged for due to the warranty). When the service tech from Jardine's showed up, he verified my battery was going dead but only jumped my vehicle and told me he could not replace my battery as they didn't have one in stock. He instructed me at that time that I should leave my truck running for at least an hour as he couldn't guarantee my battery would be able to restart my truck if I didn't. Two service calls in and I STILL don't have a battery that should have been covered under a prorated warranty with AAA.

I have since taken my truck in and had the scratches fixed at an auto body shop and have purchased another battery from another company when my truck died on me again. The warranty with AAA was a joke and I will not be purchasing from them again. However, they did charge me for two service calls on 12/18/13 (should not have been charged because the AAA rep on the phone KNEW my truck was running and should have been able to tell me they wouldn't cover the warranty anyway) and on 1/5/2014 (should not have been charged since they showed up with NO BATTERY TO A BATTERY WARRANTY SERVICE CALL).

Had to find ride for son, skip meeting and keep all doors to garage open and doors into house closed. Upon calling several times I concluded that they only contract with ONE of the several tow companies in my area. I should have just called and paid the fee myself. Why hasn't anyone filed a Class Action lawsuit against AAA Motor Club in Connecticut? I read another complaint about a member's expanded membership being cancelled for enrollment ("too many road service calls"). Multiply eighty seven dollars per year by millions of members: that is a lot of membership money with discriminatory underwriting. Why hasn't the State Attorney's office in Connecticut looked at this capricious way of managing membership?

Two hours later they call me back to tell me that they was very sorry but there where no tow truck available in all South East Florida to take care of my car. I decided to go to my parking place riding on the flat tire (close to midnight) because my flight was on 6:00 am. I'd begin a complaint with AAA reclaiming the expenses needed to replace the tire and the rim - I'd destroy it trying to get to my parking place in Miami. After three months of giving me the runaround and no answering phones, finally I received a letter saying that they are not responsible for the damage caused to my truck and I am not receiving any compensation because they utilize third party trucks and are not responsible when things go wrong. My question is, AAA is a company who supposedly is nationwide available to tow your vehicle when needed. If they are not responsible for not having tow trucks available, why do I have to pay $124 a year for having a service they can`t provide? The cost of replacing rim and tire were $224.00.

I have premier service with them. The first time I used my membership, I broke down on I-95 and they told me it would be about 45 minutes. After 2 hours of waiting, I was very concerned and angry but they finally showed up. The second time I called them, it took 2 hours and when the driver came, he said he didn't have time to take my vehicle 35 miles and it was a work truck so he couldn't take it and left. I called the 800 number and told them what the driver said and they said they would get someone out immediately. In the meantime, a resident on the street who had been drinking the whole time I had been stuck came out with a gun pointing it at me saying he thought I was just there to rob him.

Someone called the police. They came and acted like I was a criminal and made me call AAA and they told them and me I needed to move it, and they gave AAA a bit more time. Still nothing so they called their tow company and I had to pay $144 to tow it. I called and filed a complaint and they told me they were so sorry and would reimburse me if I would fax a copy of the tow bill. Well 2 months later and a lot of calls, I finally got a check. Then yesterday, I needed a simple jump and their guy came and said I needed a new battery. I said fine and then said I should change the terminal wires. I said go ahead. He said start it and I tried and it was totally dead, worse than the original battery. It just clicked.

He said it's the starter and I said, "It can't be, I just got it last year and it's been starting fine." He said he knows starters and said "you hear its just clicking not engaging". He started hitting it to prove to me it would start by moving the starter. Still nothing so he took the battery out and said it's not the battery that he originally said was dead. So I called my mechanic and he was mystified about the starter but I bought a new one and changed it. Still just clicked, then got a new battery and still clicked. My mechanic asked did the genius from AAA do anything else and told him he changed the terminal wires. We checked that and the guy never stripped the wire so it was rubber making the connection and that's why it just clicked. We peeled the rubber off and then we had a connection and started right up. It cost me a day's pay $300 plus $200 for the starter and labor I didn't need. If he had just jumped it, I would have been fine. This has been the worst experience with a company I've ever had.

To my surprise, my car was taken to a different mechanic, Gustafson Brothers in Huntington Beach. To my horror, they worked on my car and charged me nearly double what my long time mechanic promised.

Worse, I nearly died because I left the shop and my brakes still were not fixed. Gustafson Brothers wanted additional money - I called AAA but they told me Gustafson Brothers is an approved AAA shop, that they do great work and where I wanted to be towed was not a AAA approved shop...huh? I paid for a PLUS membership to be able to be towed to my mechanic. I called and asked to be towed to my mechanic. My car was taken to another shop, the repairs are faulty and AAA does not care.

On 8/28/2013, I went to AAA Care Center in Frederick, Maryland for a routine oil change. After the technician diagnosed my car, he came to tell me his recommendations for additional services that my car needs. I informed him that I could not have them done today. The technician seemed mad that I was not willing to have them perform the services. When I left the center, I noticed that my car was not breaking properly. I informed my sister and she took my car for a drive 2 days later. She said the car was driving fine and that I was paranoid because of the assessment I received from the technician. I commute to Baltimore every day for work and I am in traffic anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hour at minimum going to work and returning from work.

On 9/17/13 at approximately 7:30 pm, I was driving home from work and I was approximately 3 miles from home when my driver side back tire fell off in the middle of driving. I immediately pulled over because the tire went rolling up the hill and stopped on the medium. I called AAA road side service so that I could have them change my tire. When the driver arrived, he informed me that the vehicle had to be towed. I was frantic because all I could think about was I have to open at work at 7:45 am the next morning. My sister and I had to miss time from work the next morning and when I arrived at AAA car care, my service was awful. My car was left there overnight so the service advisor had my work order but chose to work on another vehicle first.

When the mechanic came to assist me, he apologized for the work performed by previous technician, informed me my rim had to be replaced and special ordered a new one from Chrysler. I was there for 2 and half hours and at that point, I was told that the job would be completed in 20 minutes so my sister then left and I reassured my job that I would be in the branch at 10:30. Well, it took them an additional 45 minutes. I got up, did not see my car and the cashier informed me that another technician is test driving my car. I was angry so when the service advisor came in with the District Manager Maria, they walked passed me laughing. I asked the service advisor for my key. She laughed and kept saying I am almost finished. I told her this situation is not funny. She said she wasn't laughing but continued to laugh.

I called AAA member relations and emailed them regarding this incident, informed them I was upset. I am a former employee and I would never recommend them to anyone. The roadside staff was great; however, today is 9/26/2013 and I still do not have the rim for my tire. I am still driving on my spare and no one can give me a date as to when this will be resolved. I have lost my patience and no one wants to take responsibility for this. The bottom line is that I could have killed myself or killed an innocent person out there on the road. Please advise. I really would like to contact an attorney.

I bought a battery from AAA two and a half years ago. If the unit failed within the first three years I was promised a new replacement. Well, my car was having difficulty starting and I took it my mechanic who tested it and determined the battery had a bad cell and needed to be replaced. I told the mechanic of my warranty and called from the garage. My mechanic and his manager both told me to expect trouble. The said AAA would deny the battery was bad, that it was just "severely undercharged." Sure enough the road technician, a very nice guy, told me exactly that. He put on his tester and after receiving a printout said he could not replace the battery. He had to go by what his equipment said.

I pointed out that a battery that is bad would most likely be "severely undercharged" but it's very nature. I also pointed out that if I have continue trouble starting the car I would be calling AAA again and again requesting service for the same problem. I was informed you only get four calls a year under my membership, but I countered that if it's for the same problem it shouldn't count as additional calls but a non-resolution of the first. At any rate, the road technician tested the battery again and this time he got the report that said it was indeed a bad battery.

I'm not sure, as my mechanic led me to believe, that AAA routinely denies battery replacements due to a company policy, but if it's true I think it's a bad business model. After all, if I hadn't gotten my battery replaced I certainly would not have purchased it from them since I was standing at my usual repair shop. Also, the cost of repeated assistance calls must exceed the cost of a replacement battery, let alone the cost of losing memberships. But my experience is that the technician was willing to retest the battery and I was eventually satisfied.

This conduct is detrimental to the best interest of the Club.

At the end of this 3 page log is a grand total cost of $1,596.06, dated June 14, 2013 by investigating agent Carla **. Also stated was the total number of service orders, which was 15. I don't think that is excessive for a 4-year period. This is an average of 4 times a year. We called AAA for a service that we paid for. We were never denied by the Auto Club's representative when each call was placed requesting their assistance. We even upgraded to being Plus members. And, since our 18-year old daughter now has a car, we purchased a membership for her as well. I don't think she even had a chance to use it yet, and if she has, it's only been once.

In the membership guide, it states that whether you are the driver, passenger, owner, or not, the service requested for the disabled vehicle is covered if the member was present when the disablement occurred. Also, having the cars towed to our residence was told to the AAA phone representative when the call was initially made. We don't have money to have our cars repaired at an auto repair facility. My husband is pretty good at car mechanics so he does most of the repairs at our residence. Now, as to where the vehicle is located at the time of pick up also seems to be an issue. Just because the pick up address is near an auction, car show or a similar location doesn't mean anything. People do go to these functions as a customer and not always a buyer or seller. Am I not allowed to attend these places of business?

How am I to know that I will have car trouble on the day I go to one of these so called incriminating events??? Am I to park down the street so it doesn't look like I bought or sold the vehicle there??? Last I heard, I am free to go anyplace, shop anyplace, and park anyplace without worrying what my member guidelines allows. I pay for membership not to feel like a criminal and feel guilty if I attend an event, or shop at a business. If I need the services that are included in my membership, I should be provided with such without receiving a letter from the company cancelling me, my husband and daughter even before our membership expires!

If there was ever a problem, such as a service not covered by Auto Club, I should have been informed at the time of the request. Isn't that why we speak to a real person when we call that number on the back of the AAA card? Why allow the service be performed, and then look into the last 4 years of how we utilized our benefits to find a non-specific reason to cancel us. And the most humiliating part of all is that they want us to return our cards to them (in the enclosed envelope for our convenience) and being told in writing “Do not attempt to open another membership with Automobile Club of Southern California!!!” When, just 4 to 6 weeks prior, a letter from AAA came in the mail to inform us that I had used my 4 annual tows, and then was thanked for being a Plus Member and how AAA looked forward to serving us for many years to come.

I hope you can understand how confusing and unsettling this whole situation is for us. We only utilized benefits we paid for. As to where we want the car to be towed to shouldn't be an issue. A tow is a tow, which means you're relocating the car, no matter where it is to be picked up and dropped off at. That is my car, my decision, and the guidelines do state, “It will be towed to a destination of your choice within 7 miles in any direction from the point of breakdown." I do want to appeal this decision, of course. I also want to know why, out of the blue, an investigation of our services was done for the past 4 years??? Why weren't we given a chance to meet with someone about the investigation's findings, explained in detail what exactly their letter, service log information and how and who came to the decision to terminate something we've paid for, used, added another member, and feel we deserve more than some investigator’s opinion on why we use a company’s product, rather than commend us for years of loyalty to something we felt was there when we needed it. We now have mixed feelings about loyalty and how gratitude is shown to their company’s members.

I would appreciate any feedback as to how we should correctly approach this matter. I feel we've been deceived by this well known company for simply getting what we paid for. I read the Member Guide over and over again, and can't find anything that fully explains the Club Bylaws regarding terms and conditions. I can't find it on their website either. Also, what was it that made them choose us to investigate??? Clearly, not our 4 calls a year, or the total cost of services rendered. There has got to be other members that use their benefits many more times a year than we do. Were they investigated as well? Was everyone who's a member? I am open to speaking with anyone with some insight on how to get an appropriate outcome for both us as members, and AAA as a provider of services. Thank You!

I called AAA which I have been a member since 2010 for them to pick up my car from my house and drop it off at my mechanic. I asked for a flatbed because every time they try to pick up my car with a regular tow truck, it damages my bumper because it is lowered. The flatbed truck finally arrived two hours later and stated that I would have to give him $20 because the car is okay to go on a regular tow truck. I explained to the driver that my car can’t go on a regular tow truck. I also need this flatbed because the ramp that it is going to is very steep, and I need the car to be taken up from the back so that it can be placed with the car facing the garage when it is placed at the mechanic’s house.

The driver of the tow truck stated that because he thinks that the car can be taken with a regular tow truck, that I must pay the $20. I asked the driver why is it then that the last time my car was towed, it was used by a flat bed with no extra fee. The driver eventually decided to tow the car only to come back to me and state that because my tag is out of date, then it is $75 to tow it. I refused to pay that fee and did not understand why a service is willing to charge for a free service that I have paid for.

On June 10th, 2013, I was making a right turn and I saw this car coming so I pulled as close to the curb as possible so this other car could drive past me. BUT he ended up crashing into my driver side. I turned off my car and took my son out from the back seat as he was my number 1 priority. The other driver re-parked and I took pictures of the accidents - the spot where he hit me, how much space I gave the other driver and somehow he still ended up hitting me. But anyway, we ended up exchanging information and I called my agent, AAA, to tell them my story and I told them I have pictures. I also got a call from the other driver's insurance and I told them I have pictures so I emailed it to them.

They told me that I re-parked my car after the accident, but I told them to look closely at the picture as possible. If I re-parked my car, wouldn't the accident from the tire to my fender and driver side be ALIGNED incorrectly? But the picture clearly shows that it's still aligned straight from the accident. So anyway, his insurance sided with his story and told me since I have no witness or a cop, they sided with his story because now it's my story against his.

My AAA agent, LISA **, didn't even bother to help me with my case. Isn't AAA supposed to be there and help you as much as possible? She basically said the same thing the other insurance driver told me. SHE didn't even ask to SEE the pictures. If you're an attorney, please email me. I need a lawyer. AAA has ruined their reputation because of this. What do I have insurance for if they won't bother to help me?

I was involved in a car accident on May 28 2013. I called AAA for the towing service. It was after 6 pm; the auto body shop was closed so the towing company took my car to their yard and delivered the next morning to the Auto shop which was approx. 15 miles (together distance from the accident scene to the towing overnight then to the Body shop). The towing company charged $480 to my Auto Insurance. I called AAA to try to verify why the fee has to come out of my pocket (which would be paid by my insurance).

AAA answered that if the car was involved with the accident and you DO have the "full" coverage from your auto insurance then, AAA won't pay for the towing, but if you DON'T have the full coverage, AAA will pay for the fee. NO ONE has verified my policy with me and no paper was signed at time of towing. AAA allowed their contracted towing company to claim the towing fee directly to their member's auto insurance without my authorization (not to mention the fee is unreasonably high). The fact is I do not have towing service added to my auto policy, that means I DO NOT have "full" coverage.

AAA membership should cover this expense, so I had to pay off the fee before picking up my car from the shop. When I talked to AAA office, they put me on the phone with the towing company. I had to deal with the towing company. By the end, AAA agent still didn't want to help me to solve the issue. Apparently, AAA does not have any idea what happened. I am very disappointed in AAA's service. AAA's negligence toward my case is very unsatisfactory!! Members, please be aware of your auto policy and always double check with AAA before using or calling for service.

Finally called the corporate office and spoke to a lady - can't remember her name, but she was very nice. She said they are happy that I called because they don't know until someone tells them Then later I received a call from their district supervisor who apologized for the mangers handling of the situation. Then about a month later I received another call from him and he informed me that they now have a new and more experienced manager. I'm Very happy with the outcome. Will definitely consider returning there again.

I and my husband have visited this location 5 times in the past month to get an oil change and an inspection - they keep sending us away!. Each and every single one of these times we were told, not today, come back again another day. Two times for our oil change and 3 times for our inspections. The same thing happened again today after visiting there 2 times before for our vehicle's due inspection. Again, we were told to come back another day!

Our inspection is due no later than tomorrow. My husband had to argue with the manager there (Melvin? - same guy every time), so then he allowed my husband to leave the car there and was told that he couldn't guarantee it would be done today, or even tomorrow, for that matter. So here we are without transportation because of their poor customer services.

Note: There was also an elderly lady there the 2nd time we visited, and she was telling a female employee who was working there that day that she was rude and nasty. The female employee just looked at her and responded with an 'I don't care' attitude and said "Oh Well!" I would never EVER recommend this company again to my friends and family! AAA Roadside service is great, but their car care centers are sorely lacking in business ethics and customer care. They really need to crack down on their employees before they drive all their business elsewhere!

My husband is 74 years old. I’m right behind him in age. My husband is very ill and has cancer. He has a catheter on his chest, right above his heart for dialysis, and two lines on his right arm for his chemo, for drawing blood, etc. We were on our way to MD Anderson Hospital in Houston when we got a flat tire. We thought of going outside and waving someone down, but we were happy to have membership with AAA Roadside Assistance. We called them at 1:50pm and explained the situation. They asked for directions, and they told us that someone should be here in 30 to 45 minutes because there is another call before us. An hour goes by. I called and told me that the person is on another call, and that he should be there in 45 minutes to an hour again.

Two hours go by and nothing. I called again, and they tell me that they are going to get a hold of that person, and that the person will be calling us. The man calls us and asks us where we are. We gave him directions again. He says he is in Victoria and that it will be an hour to an hour and a half before he gets there. I explained that it's very hot and that we can no longer have the AC on; and I also explain about my husband's health. He says that he will try to call someone closer, but he never does. I go outside, but no one stops. By now, it's over 2 and a half hrs. When we got a call from someone from AAA, they explained that there has been some misunderstanding, and that someone will go and help us in an hour or so. By now, I am very angry and start to cry in anger. I told him that it's alright, and that I am going to start walking and see if I can get some help ahead. I hung up and that was the end. I never got any more calls.

I walked about half a mile when a truck stopped and a couple and their adult son asked if I needed help. I had been crying, so they noticed and asked if anything was wrong. I told them what happened with AAA, etc. Afraid and all, I get in their truck. Thank God they were nice people. They took off the flat tire and put on the doughnut spare, but told us that the tire would not make it to Houston. They took us to the closest city behind us and left once we got to a garage. We asked for their names and phone number. We want to get them a gift when we make another trip next month.

That was not the end. The tire was torn on the side and couldn't be fixed. It was Sunday, May 19, 2013. The garage attendant told us not many of those places are open on Sunday's. We called Wal-mart, but they didn't have the tire. We went to a Firestone close by. It was open, but didn't have the tire for our car. They called Corpus, the next larger city, and they had one. We went to Corpus Christi, had the tire installed, and we’re on our way to Houston. By then, it was 7:00pm. We hate to drive at night. I can't see that well at night, and he doesn't drive anymore. We arrived at the hotel at 11:00pm, tired and disappointed at all that happened.

I bought the road side assistance insurance because of our situation. We saw a commercial and thought that was what we needed. The commercial is a lie. I will never recommend this company to anyone. At our age, we need to depend on a company that is reliable and no-nonsense. They prey on people like us and don't deliver. This is a true story! Check the video I took, not one person slowed down to help us. It scares me to think about this happening at night. We have traveled at night and some of these highways are scary. Sorry, had to mention that.

I have a membership with AAA roadside service. I have had it for a few years. This year they started limiting how many times they will assist you. I upgraded my membership for better services and can still only use them 4 times. They advertise "We'll be there to help you anytime you need assistance. If you need a jump start, gas, flat tire or towing or are locked out of your car or house." They are there anytime unless you need them 4 times in a 12-month period. So my husband was hit on the freeway. Our truck rolled 5 times. AAA refused to reimburse us for the towing because we had already used the service 3 times this year. The same rollover accident, our adjuster didn't represent us. We had to fight with our own insurance company and are now having to sue.

The truck was totaled over 3 months ago. We requested to have the truck removed from our policy. The truck is still on the policy and they are still charging us premium for the truck, which was totaled in a rollover accident, which their adjuster proclaimed as a total loss. We have repeatedly requested that the truck be removed from the policy. They keep saying they will remove it and refund our premium retroactively to February 14, the day after the accident. But it never happens.

This month, when we asked yet again to have it removed, they said they would and then promptly set up an auto pay draft for June 6 which includes premium for the truck they have yet to remove from our policy. They set up an auto draft payment that has neither been requested nor authorized by myself or my spouse. Their customer service reps and supervisors are rude and unprofessional. They talk over you, yell at you and don't listen. I canceled my roadside assistance membership today and will be canceling my insurance very shortly. They don't care that they've lost a longtime loyal customer. They are the worst company ever!

It was in late December when I called AAA because of a flat tire. I waited over 2 hours for a driver to come out. Once the driver came out, he quickly changed my tire. He took the flat tire and threw it in my truck. I heard a snap. I immediately confronted the driver on what I witnessed. I asked him if he broke the board in the back of my trunk. He proceeded to tell me the purpose of the piece. I explained that was not my question. He then told me no. After the New Years, and after I saved enough money to purchase a new spare, my mechanic brought to my attention what I had known that night. The contract driver broke the board in my car. Now, it is the beginning of May, five months after my initial complaint about the part destroyed by the driver.

I recently received a letter marked May 2, 2013, stating that my claim has been closed. After repeated calls and complaint to the company about my frustration regarding this unresolved issue, they closed my case? I am the one, not AAA, who initiated any time for the driver to come out to fix this issue. I conceded that because of my shift work, there is an obvious conflict scheduling a time for this issue to be resolved. Repeatedly, I asked for a set day. The answer I received was of the company repair driver would place a call out to me after 10:00am. Several times, this call never happened; and several times, I had to initiate a call asking about the driver's whereabouts. I took this matter over the claims adjusters head and spoke only once to her boss. I made repeated calls to him and left messages, but I never ever received calls back. Now, here I am, five months later, with an unresolved issue and filled with disgust and frustration due to this company. I called the national number in order to place a complaint with the company, about my local AAA office on May 2, 2013.

May 2, 2013 was the day the driver was supposed to come out to fix the broken board. Instead, I had to call the local office at 12:30 and inquire where he was. The driver finally called me after 2:00pm, while I went out to pick up lunch. I promptly returned his call and, yes, I received no call back. This day I wasn't due to work until 3:00pm. Perhaps, I didn't mention that in March, when I was doing a week long day shift, I was told the driver could fix the part while I was at work. Yes, I was told that the driver would come the following day (a Wednesday) to my job to take care of the matter. The driver never came, nor did he call to reschedule. Now, it's May and I have received a letter about my case being closed. Please advise.

There were 2 recent occasions where I was in need of the roadside assistance. Instead of a simple, straightforward experience (which I expected and paid for), I was greeted with rude customer service agents, back and forth phone conversations for 1-2 hours and, in the end, no service! Long story short, I was leaving the gym when my car would not start. Unfortunately, I didn't have my wallet containing my AAA card. For a reason still unknown to me, the woman at AAA could not find my information in the system and refused to send a tow truck. I begged her saying that I was 100% positive I had a current card (which I later found in my wallet). I let the AAA agent know that I had just received paperwork in the mail from AAA to the address I was providing her.

I was baffled as to why she could not locate me. Again, I begged for her to send someone out saying that I would guarantee payment via credit card if I didn't have an up-to-date card. She refused stating that policy would not allow her to send out a tow truck unless they found my information in their system. Well 2 hours later, I ended up getting my own tow truck. As soon as I got home, I checked my wallet and found my current AAA roadside assistance card. Unbelievable! From this point forward, I will never pay another dollar to AAA for roadside insurance or any other purpose. I would urge others to do the same. I have a membership with AAA. In general, I have had positive experiences, though this time was different. I was hiking over on a desert mountain and got back on my car, which was half a mile off the state route 160. I got stuck on the dirt road as I was trying to turn around to drive out. After doing all I could to get out, I decided to walk to the main highway nearby. I called AAA explaining the situation and that I need a 4x4 vehicle with a winch to pull me out of the soft dirt. They told me a truck was on its way and the driver would be phoning back. It was getting close to nightfall as I was waiting for a call back. Eventually, I got hold of the driver and talked to him about the situation.

He said, to my dismay, that his truck couldn't get me because I was on a dirt road (despite me explaining that to the call center operator) and that he would let them know, and someone should get back to me. Well I never got a call back and it was getting cold in the windy night air. I was getting a bad feeling about this. I called back AAA and there had not been any arrangement made by them to get someone else. After about 20 minutes waiting on hold while they tried to solve the problem, the operator told me that what the driver told me was wrong and they had nothing that could help me. She also suggested sending a bill to AAA, but the tow service wants money now. So now after hiking earlier that day, my friend and I had to hike 8 miles along a darkened highway to a gas station. Both exhausted by the time we got there around 11:30PM.

The station attendant was very nice to us. We found a stranger with a 4x4, who offered for all the money in my wallet to try and get us out. He happened to have a winch in which he was able to pretty easily pull us out. Thankfully we did not get struck on the highway shoulder on the way walking there to the gas station. What is disappointing is that AAA did not have a contracted 4x4 service truck in a big metropolitan area (which was not far away).

Do not get trapped on a dirt road if you are one of the many people that like to hike in the wilderness. What if the cell phone doesn't work? The person who pulled us out told me that about two years ago, he found a 60-year-old man who had died at his vehicle in summer on a dirt road within sight of a highway because he had a medical condition. Don't get trapped without backup communication. This situation of ours could have potentially been a lot worse. Thankfully, a stranger came to task when AAA couldn't.

For background, this vehicle has never once failed to start, ever since it was driven off the dealer's lot. It has sat for 2 or 3 weeks at a time, and always cranks right up. Since I frequently drive the car, my son took it back to the shop this morning (7:30 a.m.) and told the center about the first ever time the car would not start. They have now diagnosed insufficient pressure to the fuel pump, and are in the process of replacing the fuel pump at a cost of 500-600 dollars. The manager, Jonathon **, insists it was a coincidence. This is not a coincidence.

I have told him that I do not believe it to be a coincidence. Car owners, beware. Do not take your Honda to this car care center. They have caused a problem that did not exist before they had their hands on it. What is worse, they refuse to acknowledge any possibility that they had anything to do with it - even though they had to remove/replace seals, and disconnect many items in order to carry out the original repair.

My car needed a tow because my hood flew up when I was driving. I called a tow company that works with AAA and it's called Rick and Rich Towing, located in Cortland County. They are trying to charge me $2600 to fix a minor issue on my car, which is a 1995 Volvo. My car is not worth that much. Secondly, they towed my car and did not take down my AAA membership information which I had handed to them. So now, they are trying to charge me the tow, of which the only reason I even used them to tow was so that AAA would pay for it. Now as I was trying to fill out my AAA reimbursement form, Rick and Rich Towing, refused to give me any information needed so that I could get reimbursed the money that they want me to pay.

I know plenty of people who can fix my car for a much lower cost than $2600 that they are claiming is going to cost to fix. They are ripping me off, and they are so unprofessional. I would never suggest using them, or giving them any business! They are also trying to charge me $1400 if I take it off the lot without them fixing it for storage, but if they fix it and get the money, then they aren't charging storage fee. If someone is going to charge you for storage fee, I believe they have to tell you up front, and not once it has been there waiting on insurance claims and what not. Overall, I am very unhappy with their service, and I would not suggest going there unless you are willing to be ripped off and pay more than you need to.

I have been a member for a few years now and my card number is **. I have used AAA more times than I would have liked but every time I use your service, it has been great from the customer service to the tow truck driver. But I just recently used your service on Friday, March 8, 2013. I had the driver meet me at the mall. My brakes were locked up so I parked it at the mall and waited for your driver. He showed up faster than I expected which was great, but your AAA driver loaded my car on his truck and left to drop my car off at my house. I left 15 minutes later. I got home but there was no tow truck around. I waited for close to an hour. I was getting ready to contact AAA to find out where my car is but your driver showed up. FYI, it's a 15-minute travel. He was gone an hour.

So he dropped off my car in the driveway like I asked. I pulled it in my garage and fixed my brakes. Well yesterday, Thursday, March 14, 2013 was the first time I drove my car since it was towed. I opened up my truck to clean it out and discovered a surprise. Your AAA driver was gone for an hour because he pulled off and went through my car. I had an open bag of Craftsman toolbox that was just purchased a month ago at Home Depot full of tools and water lines and electric cords for dryers and ovens that I use for work and they're gone, bag and all. I had a new set of jumper cables and it's also gone. I had a new car jack that OMG is also gone and a cheap folding chair that is gone. I have a first aid box that had a zip tie to keep it locked. The zip tie was cut and the box was dumped upside in my truck.

I'm very pissed off about this. I would like to either see my belongings that your AAA driver took from me or the cash value of the items missing. The most important items are the tool bag that was full of good and expensive tools and my car jack. I am pissed about the other items, whatever. But if this does not get resolved, I will contact law enforcement and all local media including Channel 2 news. I will make sure everyone knows AAA is a thief and that they can't trust your drivers to pick up their vehicle and take it straight to their houses without stealing items out of their car.

I drove my jeep off my driveway to the street and slid into a snow bank sideways. Unable to dig myself out by snow, I shoveled & plowed, etc. I finally broke down to contact a local tow company I have used in the past, which informed me if I have AAA, they would call it in with AAA. I called AAA to find my membership expired and needed to renew so I did so by paying the $90.00 by phone to renew and called in the service for tow. 4 hours of **. They sent a local guy with a pickup truck who informed me he had no winch. But I called in a winch tow service with AAA. This was where it all began. I told the man I was very disappointed that he arrived without the proper equipment and vehicle and his response was he was going to contact AAA to inform them that he wasn’t touching my Jeep and that he wanted to let me know he was refusing to help. I advised him I was going to contact AAA to have another company come out that had the right service provided.

I realized later after my complaint to AAA about sending me someone not having the right equipment was not in my favor as I was told that they called 10 tow companies and nobody was available to come help me due to my situation that nobody wanted to put their drivers in any unsafe situation? I was shocked! What unsafe situation? Where did they get that information? As this was a side road to my friend’s driveway, nothing was unsafe about it.

The first driver that came out and I had conflict with told AAA this? Unbelievable! I told AAA that I didn’t feel that they wanted to service me as they told me that they could send someone to me as a cash tow. What cash tow? Are you kidding me? Why? I told AAA that I spoke with the same tow companies they stated that were refusing to service me as I had called them prior to my renewal and they were fine with coming out to help me. And why are they all of a sudden not able to? I just got off the phone with the driver telling me he was working on getting someone to me. And as soon as I hung up with the driver, the phone rang again and it was AAA telling me no one would be coming to assist me. I told them I just got off the phone with the driver and he said he was coming. The driver told me that AAA did not want to pay for the service. So I told AAA this and they dodged the question stating again the safety of a driver and tow trucks.

After 4 hours of waiting for service, I was being told cash tow or nobody. But now that I confronted AAA with their refusal to pay the tow company was the reason, as the tow company told me this and I was calling them back to confirm nobody was showing. So I hung up to call the tow company back with no answer. I tried calling back the phone number on my caller ID from the driver and got VM. A few minutes passed by and AAA called me back and said they spoke to the owner and nobody was coming and now not even for a cash tow. This is what I call out a conspiracy of scam. I told AAA to cancel my renewal from today as they couldn’t help me and I own a Jeep, which means if I ever get stuck, there will always be a reason why they can't help me. I was stuck and a girl btw. AAA told me, “Sorry, Customer Service is closed for the day to cancel membership but I can put a request in.” (Of course AAA is closed now.)

This whole ordeal wasted my entire day. This is a bunch of crap. AAA, I won’t be back ever again. Northern New England, AAA is a scam. They will send out a mom and pop shop and of they are not equipped to help you out of your **. I want to make sure I make it clear that there was nothing unsafe about winching out my jeep that was stuck that left my wheels spinning on ice. How did AAA come to that assumption? Nobody else came to help me so they just took a pissed off driver’s word? Unfair business practices! I plan to take pictures of my vehicle tomorrow of location etc. and post tomorrow night. I now am on my own to figure out how to get my jeep out. :(

After I drove to where the car was, I was notified by AAA that they would not tow it after all and the agent made a mistake. I am very upset that they wouldn't even tow it. They said that it's not a roadside emergency. Wow! After 21 years, to get treated like crap from these people is not acceptable. I hope everybody finds out that they are dirty liars.

I was thinking of getting AAA for the first time, but with the experience my parents have had with the Travel Disruption Reimbursement, I have definitely decided against AAA. Broke down in North Iowa on I35 at night. No one had a truck available to tow a van, plus 4 extra people, on to Minneapolis where my dad was scheduled to be at the hospital the next morning for his open heart surgery. Finally found a tow company that would at least tow our van back to Mason City and then drive us to Minneapolis 120 miles away. We were already 215 miles from home, so this seemed to be our best option. We had to rent a car the next day to use to get around Minneapolis. Oh did I mention my mom is also handicapped?

Unfortunately AAA considered us to have reached our destination, even though we no longer had a vehicle to help get us back and forth to the hospital with my handicapped mother. So they do not reimburse you for a rental car at all since they consider you to have reached your destination. Doesn't even bother me that they don't pay us for food or lodging, but come on, a rental car reimbursement for 3 days would have been a really big help. I guess they figure if you've reached a city but have no way to transport you around, you are OK. Parents are 80 years. I can't imagine what my mom would have done had I and my sister not have been with them. No thank you AAA!

I have a $150 AAA battery approximately 13 months old. It kept dying, so I brought it to my mechanic for a full charge. After trying to charge it for a full day, he examined my alternator and electrical system; both of which were great. He said I had a dead cell in the battery. I called AAA and explained the situation. They came, did their diagnostic on my battery and concluded the same thing, dead cell/bad battery. He did the same test several times and said they would install a new battery. After talking to his boss on the phone, the test now said suspect, which means possible draw. My mechanic, whose shop the car was at, emphasized again that everything was fine except the AAA battery.

I told AAA that every review I have read of their battery warranty came up with close to the same results, no new battery! He said he was embarrassed and felt bad but he would get in trouble honoring the warranty. AAA customer service called me and basically said have a nice day. He left while my mechanic jumped me and I went to Sam's Club for a new battery. They tested it, came up with no draw and bad cell! I bought one of theirs for $89 and peace of mind. Run, do not walk, if AAA tries to sell you one of their pieces of junk! In the first 30 minutes after this episode, I had told about 30 people my story.

I had AAA Roadside Assistance until last year. While I had it, they sold me 3 defective batteries. The last battery did not last a year and they replaced it and prorated me. Yesterday, my car wouldn't start and I called them and they sent RA and the young man tested and said the battery was fine and that it was an electrical problem. So I had my present Roadside Assistance (Liberty Mutual) tow my car to dealership. They called this morning to inform me that it was the battery and it was dead.

So I called AAA and after being put on hold several times, the woman stated that they would not replace the battery because I did not drive the car 10K in a year. No one ever told me this when they sold me the battery and she tried to claim it is on my receipt and it is not. So AAA cost me a tow (because of their negligence) and a new battery and labor charges to put it in. I am so disgusted and have been through 2 days of needless aggravation. I have 3 receipts for the 3 defective batteries. I take very good care of my vehicle and this is just not fair. I want them to pay for the battery because it was under warranty and their agent was not inept enough to know the battery was dead. I also have receipts for the new battery that I had to buy and labor to put it in. The woman on the phone (AAA) hung up on me when I asked for her supervisor.

I told them that a new starter at Auto Zone was $130-$140 after core credit. This was an AAA-approved service location. It's a total rip off. It should not be recommended by AAA or anyone else. Two months ago, I joined AAA and then needed a jump-start for my car so I called them. The mechanic who showed up must have been drunk, on drugs or just stupid. He proceeded to hook up the battery pack with the wrong terminals and then when the car would not start, he decided to open my locked doors by prying a door open enough to insert an air bag to open the door with. He put a crease in my Mercedes Benz's roof where he pried the door. When he realized he had the battery pack on backwards, he tried switching the connections but by then the pack had discharged and in the process messed up some of the vehicle's electronics because of the initial wrong connections.

To add the ultimate insult to injury, he said that I needed to put a battery charger on my car (which I borrowed from a neighbor) to get it running again. So in effect, he did nothing except damage my car. I contacted AAA Consumer Complaint Department and the representative told me to send her estimates for the roof dent and a copy of the bill for electrical repairs. After doing so, she informed me that all of their contractors are "independent" so AAA has no liability. This is a bunch of Cow ** as far as I am concerned, because I contacted AAA and not some "independent" for assistance. So it will cost me $447 to get my car repaired for having AAA "service" when all they did was damage my vehicle without ever starting it or furnishing any sort of service.

I had already waited long enough and didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for a tow truck (which I asked for initially) so I purchased a battery with a 3-year warranty. They left me stranded with my car and sent a driver out who did a vulgar gesture to me and a friend who witnessed this, and left for no apparent reason other than they did not want to tow it to the repair shop I had chosen. I called back; they said they would get someone out right away. I waited for about another hour and another tow truck came and towed my car.

The next day, I spoke to someone in the main headquarters. At least, this was what they told me. I told them what happened and told them I would not pay to renew my membership with them. I was told that next year's membership would be taken care of and they did not want to lose me as a customer since I was with them for so many years. I agreed that if they were to cover my next year's membership dues, that I would give them another chance ...

Well, now it's time and nobody cares at all. I have called so many times that I have lost count. I decided today to contact you, after an extremely rude person told me that there were notes in their system that there were no tags on my vehicle when this happened (which by the way is a complete lie). And then, she told me she was not going to help me(!), that a supervisor would call me. I had kept very calm and very patient until this point. And now I have been called, in not so many words a liar. I have been lied to.

I was left stranded by a company whose main job is to help stranded people with their vehicles as well as told that they would renew my membership for my family with no intentions to do it. I asked for a call from the manager of the Florida team and, again, no one by this title has called. I received one call and every time I call this person back, their voice mail is full and I cannot reach anyone at their office. Do with this what you want. This evening, my wife called our AAA roadside emergency number to have a battery that we purchased from them in 2010 replaced. I was on my way home and I figured that I would be home before the tow truck arrived. I am so glad that I was home because the driver was very rude and condescending. The impression that I got from this individual was that he did not want to be at work. He attempted to talk us out of having the battery replaced. He kept asking who told us that the battery was no good. The driver begrudgingly exited his truck and began barking orders at us. The driver told us that he had to run tests on the battery before the battery could be replaced.

After 20 minutes of testing the battery, he told us that it had to be the alternator or the starter that was preventing the battery from working. I felt that this was odd because my wife had just picked up the vehicle from our repairman, Accu Tech Unlimited, and he checked both the starter and the alternator as a part of the service we had just received. Our repairman at Accu Tech Unlimited would not have allowed my wife to have driven the vehicle home knowing that there was a problem with either the starter or alternator. When the driver told me that the battery could not be replaced, I said to him, "Let me be sure that I understand what you are saying. The warranty on the battery can't be honored because the alternator or the starter is not working?"

I then asked him which one was it, the starter or the alternator, and he said, "Well umm, the starter?" I then said, "So you are telling me that because my starter is going out, that keeps the battery from not charging and not starting?" He then began to stutter and say, "Well umm, let me call in and see." He never said who he was calling and who he was going to see. He did call someone and was on hold for 45 minutes. The drivers name was ** and the name of the company was Natomas Towing & Transport, 271 Opportunity Street Suite H Sacramento, CA 95838, 916-925-3366. Terrible service.
