    The first time my car broke down they refused to pay for what the mechanic said was the problem. They blamed me for the issue and made me pay out of pocket. They are not at all what they say they are. I never missed a payment, never was late and when.

    Updated on 06/01/2020: CarShield responded to my compliant with EXCUSES! And I could only reply PRIVATELY.... Here is my reply to their lies! There was no confusion! Your sales team are liars period!!!! And since you have a 20 days wait period and then another billing cycle, y'all refused to issue a refund. LIARS!!!! I had someone on the phone from American Auto Shield and Mercedes Benz and they witnessed the whole situation, we were on a 3 way call... hameful for you to respond with "excuses!!!" Excuses are well planned out lies!!!!

    Attention fellow Americans do not go to this company!!! They are liars and even lied in their response here.... Making nothing but excuses.... I will also be posting a video on social media & sending a press release to determine if there are other consumers with this same experience so that a class action lawsuit ensues!!!! Now it's not about the money, now because you lied again in your response, it's now about principle!!! And I can only reply to this "Privately" ---- Unbelievable!!!! I will submit another review that includes your response and my reply... Liars!!!! Btw: my attorney is Barry **, PA.... Expect a call... And a compliant to the attorney general and I'm filing a complaint for unfair insurance practices.... I believe lying qualifies!!!!

    Original: This company is a joke! The salesman who I spoke to initially lied to me outright! I even compared my old policy with their policy according to him and he agreed that they covered all of what my previous company covered. A couple months later when my Mercedes Benz was taken into the dealership, they denied my claim. So I requested an adjuster, they still denied my claim even though the salesman said it was covered. I called a supervisor who outright lied, telling me she heard a recording of my conversation and the salesman never told me any of what I had claimed. So I asked to hear the recording and she refused and said, "Take us to court and the recording will be revealed then" and the unprofessional female (not a woman or a professional) hung up in my face. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!!!! SAD AND PATHETIC.

    I've been paying for this service since January. I took it into my shop and once they called to get payment to Carshield, THEY WILL DENY ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. I have a BMW and all they were requesting was a transmission pan and they would not even cover that simple request. Save your money. It's a COMPLETE WASTE. Don't bother calling customer service either. The one time I had a tow request it took them 3 hours to get to me then another hour to put the newer BMW on the truck bed.

    I seen the commercial on tv and it sounded like a winner on top of the fact that my extended warranty had just expired. I called and spoke to Alec **, he was very helpful and patient with me. He answered every question without hesitation. He went over what was covered and what was not. I have not used my policy as of yet, so I can't say whether the claims area is just as easy as the call was. I will review at that time. I do like the fact that I have 60 days for a full refund if I do not like my purchase as long as I don't use it. :)

    However, I read the reviews on Google and I started second guessing myself whether I made a good decision with this purchase. I called back and spoke to Derrick, he was understanding and gave me all the answers I needed and assured me that I could indeed have a refund if I was not satisfied. He referred me to Consumer Affairs and the reviews are definitely different. My advice is to ask questions, understand what you are paying for. I will still be calling Nissan to see if the company is as reputable as it seems to be. Customer service tonight was A-1 though.

    I was with another warranty company and for some reason decided to switch to this company. The man I originally got the policy through was extremely nice! I decided to keep my other warranty because I didn't know that I only liked 1 payment and I would still be insured for 3 more years. I told the lady that I might consider coming back to them then. She was not at all co-operative! She kept lowering my bill and didn't want to give me a refund and it was the day after I purchased it.

    The other warranty company I had for 4 years on 1 vehicle and 1 year on the other vehicle was going to give me my money back with no hassle since I hadn't turned in any claims! Then today after a week when I was expecting a refund, the money was taken out of my bank account. I told her that she was being pushy and that my original company that was willing to fork out a lot more money than her was very nice about it and not pushy at all. I also told her that she was making me uncomfortable by being so pushy! She said that they didn't have any competition. I said yes ma'am you do.

    I was told to look on the Consumer Affairs website and I did. I told her that my company was ranked the same as hers! Could she just please give me my money back please? She acted like she processed the refund. Yet it came out of my bank today on Saturday and it was Tuesday of last week when I talked to her. So, this will be put on BBB! I don't trust a company when they keep lowering your bill to a ridiculously low rate that you know isn't right and then tries every stall tactic in the book to not give you your money back after a day when I know I had at least 30 days!

    I have CarShield on 2 vehicles and as of today has spent own money thinking my package would cover me only to read the fine print in contract to see I'm not covered. Very disappointing. My truck broke down they requested the mechanic to do all of these tests on the vehicle and whatever test done they would order more.     In the beginning, I thought this was one of the best experiences ever! The customer service rep was friendly, and seemed to know the product well. We gave her all the necessary information and paid for the warranty for six months in advance. That was in October 2019, (the warranty does not go into effect until 30 days after the policy has been paid for). We did not need to use the warranty until February 2020. This is when everything went downhill!

    When my mechanic called to obtain the necessary information, he was told we did not have an active policy due to non-payment!! Of course this was the furthest from the truth, and outright defamatory! Even if it had been true, this is not something you should share with my mechanic! To simply say it was inactive was enough! After wasting an entire day (whereas my vehicle should have been on its way to being repaired), but instead wasted going back and forth with these shenanigans!

    After my consistent digging along with the help of my mechanic they finally figured out that our policy had not yet even been activated!! The CSR didn't bother to give me a detailed explanation, even after I insisted; I was told it was more of an in-house situation that would be beyond my understating! That's when it happened; the classic bait-and-switch!! After being told I was eligible for the top rated warranty which is referred to as their Diamond package, after they found out the details of my repairs, suddenly I no longer had the Diamond package and was forcibly and unknowingly placed into the package beneath! However, the Diamond package had already been paid for! I was told that once the mileage was punched in, (after the policy was finally activated), my mileage was not conducive with the requirements to be eligible for the Diamond package! Therefore they literally only fixed HALF of the repair issues my vehicle required!

    I proceeded to try to get answers to the situation, but I was consistently met with non-cooperation! It has taken from February 2020 until now; May 2020, and the situation has yet to be resolved! We simply wanted them to complete the repairs, and honor the original Diamond package.. our requests were denied! Our attorney is currently involved. Which we feel was completely unnecessary, as our requests were very simple; say what you mean, and mean what you say-Stand on your product!

    As far as the commercial goes; whereas your engine light comes on-you call a tow truck, and get your car fixed.. lickety split!.. Is a complete falsity! You don't even get the rental until it is discussed and approved by an adjuster... And then THAT is ONLY contingent upon how long your car will be in the shop for said repairs! IN SUMMARY: DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!

    Updated on 05/07/2020: 05/06/2020 CarShield emphasizes it's no hassle policy of covering repairs as long as you don't wait till you have mechanical problems before you accept their contract and pay their premiums. Which is what sold me on their coverage, only to find out from multiple customers and from at least three different mechanics.

    That once you put in a claim there is fine print that their coverage can be denied if at any time since the vehicle was new off the lot, (not from when you became the owner) it was neglected, CarShield can walk away from their promise to repair it. Even if many of the same make and models have the same well known troubled repair problems nationwide. I.E. Hypothetically the timing chain guides wear and cause engine damage on an 05 Range Rovers you purchased in 2019, in 2020 you add CarShield. CarShield deducts that somewhere between 2005 new off the lot and 2018 the proper amount of oil changes weren't completed, CarShield can walk away from you. I didn't hear that emphasized when I bought their coverage.

    You buy a house and insurance in 2019, in 2015 a previous owner installed a incorrect washing machine hose it bursts in 2020. You've paid your premiums and your Insurance. The Company has accepted your money. Your insurance company walks away from you, it's in the fine print any previous neglect or improper installation and CarShield is not etc. etc etc. I believe they can do better than that.???

    Original review: On 05/01/2020 I was informed by my repair shop that a timing belt job was not being paid due to engine sludge present. When Carshield took my payment they knew they were covering a 2005 Range Rover which comes with some engine sludge. Since then I've spoken to several customers of carshield just to hear the same dissatisfaction upon presenting a claim.

    Updated on 05/02/2020: Could not find phone # for claims so talked to a Customer Service clerk. She was very nice & gave us the Claims # to call. We called the next day as it was getting late & they closed. The Representative gave us the instructions on how to make the claim. We only have one car so we had to take it to the Repair service, have the Mechanic inspect what was the matter & call the Rep. from CarShield & tell him how much they would pay. I was disturbed to learn that CarShield would pay very little for the repair, $348.19 out of the cost of $1228.25. This seemed unreasonable to me as our monthly payments for coverage were nearly this much!!

    My husband had no way to get home but the shop was nice enough to bring him home & pick him up after the repairs were made. My husband is diabetic and had to get home to take his medicine. He is 85 years old & thought we had Rental Car Coverage but were told this was not correct. We could get a rental car and send in the bill & they would determine if they would reimburse us. Well, after what I saw them paying so little for repairs, I'm sure they would turn down the car, or pay very little Reimb. This was our first claim and we were very disappointed!!

    Original Review: The Battery light is on and probably needs an alternater. Did not have the Service number so we called the Customer Service number instead. We talked to a very nice lady but she did not assign a claim order number. Our contract # is **.

    Purchasing CarShield was fine. However, the coverage sucks. I had a problem with my engine and on the TV, it says, to cover your engine, your different parts and things like that. Somewhere along the way, CarShield in the fine print says only damaged parts, and they even looked at internal parts of an engine. And so, if you have eight valves but only four are damaged, but you have to have an entire engine rebuild, they will only cover the four that are technically damaged, but yet you can't put four new ones into a used engine, so you have to put eight. Therefore, they don’t cover an engine that is a problem. They only cover little tiny bits and pieces inside the engine. I would not recommend CarShield to anybody because they did not do right by me. I'm really dissatisfied.

    I have a Cadillac and I knew things go wrong with it. I needed something to cover my rear end, so I got CarShield. I’ve had it for some years now. The first time I used them, there was no problem but recently, it seems like things have changed a little bit. There’s always a competition between the dealer or who I’m getting the car to and CarShield. At times, it’s not as good as the others. I got some work done from the Cadillac dealer, and they went back-and-forth for a while but it finally got straightened out. Cadillac charges so much an hour for the labor. A lot of times, the hassle between them is the labor cost and what CarShield thinks it should be. I got some work done from Midas the other day, and they had the same problem, but they got it worked out.

    I also had a bushing done and it was fixed automatically. There was no hassle. The dealer called it in and right there and then, CarShield gave them an okay. The last time I was at the dealer was for the wheel bearings. Some things cost a lot of money but CarShield took care of it. The experience with them has been good and there were a lot of stuff I didn’t have to pay for. It could be better but it could have been worse. It was okay money-wise. It’s just a point of them haggling.

    When I was sold this policy I was told everything was covered except routine maintenance but was I mislead. My car's oil sensor went out and when the repair shop called CarShield they was told it wasn’t covered so I had to pay out of pocket for the part and labor and the monthly cost of CarShield.
