There have been issues with the American Auto Shield (claims company) contacting the repair facility and you and the repair facility having issues reaching the claims company and we apologize about that. They have had an influx of calls due to the pandemic which has slowed down our claims processing but they are working hard at getting everyone processed in a timely manner.

    On another note, being able to talk to a real person would be a rewarding experience, especially when trying to submit a claim as oppose to being subjected to an automated system that directs the customer to submit the claim via email (really?). I understand being technologically advanced and perhaps proficient, however, when a customer is trying to submit a claim they absolutely do not want to hear automated directives to an email! Claims require LIVE PERSONAL ACTION, not emails in an employee queue. Also, It would be nice to have an accurate or current list of providers that accept this warranty rather than the customer having to call around to find dealerships, mechanic shops that do. Convenience is everything to current (paying) and future customers!

They had issues with their phones a couple weeks ago and are working hard to get everything caught back up. They've also seen an influx of claims due to the pandemic so I think having the options to submit claims online helped cut down call wait times. Lastly, repair facilities can choose one day to work with vehicle service providers and the next day choose not to. The list would be nearly impossible to be accurate as repair shops come and go as they please. The best solution is to call around to your local ASE-Certified shops as ask.     If you say you would cover components and then you go to the repair shop and to your surprise you have to pay for all the repairs. Then when the repair shop calls the phones don’t work to get the repairs fixed. So what year does the vehicle need to be for everything to be covered because obviously old vehicles can be covered unless you replace everything before you get any type of warranties to actually be covered.

    First of all I want you to know these are all facts. I purchased the best plan that CarShield's have. After getting the run around for two weeks. They denied my claim which was clearly states in the policy. I ended up having to pay $1300 out of my pocket and my car still wasn't fixed. It's a scam and if you don't want to be upset and disappointed. PLEASE listen. STAY AWAY. If I could give it zero stars I would. This is just a piece of everything.

In terms of the claim, the repair facility said the engine was full of sludge and build up. As stated in your contract, that leads to a denial of claims.     My vehicle has been in the shop since July 22nd with transmission problems. My warranty covers that problem but trying to get a straight answer from them has been an adventure. Come to find out nothing was ever filed. Both my repair shop and I have tried to call them and not once have I gotten an answer on what was taking a while, after talking to someone on Wednesday Aug. 5th I was finally told no one ever started a claim.

    My problem is not that the phone system was down but the lack of knowledge that was given to either me or my repair shop. And when I spoke to someone yesterday he told me that I would be able to get a rental for the inconvenience of this whole situation. I called today Aug. 6th to speak to a supervisor and that was not at all respectful. She kept going on and on about well that's not in your contract but not once heard me when I tried to explain that my vehicle is in the air torn apart waiting for an answer for over 2 weeks. I have a toddler and if something happened to him what was I going to do. No vehicle. No rental. Disaster waiting to happen. Will not recommend this warranty.

    Updated on 08/28/2020: Carshield is not a good company! After waiting over a month to even get a claim going, our claim was denied.     Will try to make story short; researched through my coverage policy to find out if issue with truck I was experiencing was covered before I even took the first step toward having dealership take possession & replace malfunctioning parts. Took me a total of 4 phone calls over about 2-3 days just to find out if part(s) "SHOULD BE" covered. No definitive answers were obtained. I decided to move forward with 98% assurity rate that they were. The issue was not so much with Carshield as it was with A.A.S. For those of you who don't know what a.a.s. stands for, its American Auto Shield. This is who you get transferred to when you have an issue. I guess I missed that part when reading over my plan coverage. Anyways, this was where the nightmare really began!

    To be fair though, they did have a storm go through & they said it knocked out their phone lines & internet, so it was abysmal to try & get through for about 3-4 days. I had the dealership & myself trying to call to no avail. Finally after dealership relayed to me that they had been on hold for 2.5 hours, they finally picked up. To finish up, malfunctioning parts were covered & fixed but I had to eat the car rental for a week. I'm 1000 miles away from home in Fla seeking cancer treatments for 2 months. 3 of us here & 1 vehicle. Dealership kept truck whole week. I have radiation treatments every day. Had to have vehicle to get back & forth. A.A.S. wouldn't cover rental cost! So, this was not a great experience at all. Called carshield back & spoke with Stephen. He was great & the only reason I didn't cancel carshield!

    Carshield warranty ok if my vehicle was newer. I purchase a gold warranty. I had a cv axle leaking. I thought it was cover under my contract I purchase. Sales person told me all parts were cover. So I brought my vehicle at dealer. Told them what was going on with axle. They call Carshield and told them it wasn't cover. Well they have a contract call stand alone gasket leaks. Not cover. That what made me cancel my warranty.

    I understand the first week my car, at Firestone AutoCare. Due to the COVID-19 virus everything was flushed even personnel working from home.     I called to verify that you had received my mechanics claim form at 12 noon after he sent it in by 9:45 AM. After waiting on hold for 2 hours I was brushed aside by the rep and told that no claim had been received. Then she said that so had to speak to the mechanic and I tried to connect her but she hung up. I called back and your auto attendant says that if I give them my phone number my spot will be held in its place. I then tried calling back and could never get thru to anyone, so I called from a different number and I was on hold for 4 and a half hours. And while I was on hold I sent two emails and called customer service again and was told by Frank to pay for my car and submit a claim for reimbursement. I think you are a scam and you are ripping people off. You seem not to be concerned at all with helping people but only taking their money. And that's a shame!

    I have had CarShield since 2018 and finally had to use the service. I called and ensured it was covered. Got to dealer. They said carshield was a bad warranty company and I can file for reimbursement. Called carshield to verify reimbursement. They said yes. When car was complete. I tried filing claim online. System was down. So I called and received an email address to send receipt and was advised I'd hear something in 24 hrs. Didn't hear anything.     I purchased a warranty from Car Shield back on June 26th 2020. After my conversation with the rep went pretty good I felt after he answered all my questions on engine failure, Heads are part of the engine cooling system transmission timing belt ETC. On July 15th 2020 my car was not running right. The temp needle started to rise so I pulled over to cool it down for 20 min. I then went directly over to the Honda Dealer which was less than a mile away. They did a Diagnostic check. They told me my fans were not working correctly that it was.

    The electrical heat sensor connection which they denied to pay for also the radiator needed to be replaced as well. Which at first they denied. Then they approved but they would not cover the electric sensor connector which is an electrical part which is covered in my contract. Then they informed me the heads needed to be repaired which they denied and the heads are covered. They are saying that it was caused by the over heating which I disagree on. I spent a easy 15 hours playing phone tag. When I asked for the Adjuster's name and phone number they refused to give it to me. I one of the agents I spoke with insinuated that I was a liar and refused to give me any info. but I spoke with Kyle and the Ayhesia who were pleasant to talk to. All I want is my car repaired so I can move on. My acct **.

    Car Shield states that they cover older and higher mileage cars but there is a catch that the sales people do not tell you. I have a 2007 Ford Freestyle with the CVT trans and I purchased car shield. Now that being said the sales rep I spoke with stated that with the Silver package this would cover any lubricated parts in the engine or transmission. I had the car towed down to a shop that I personally used to work at as the head ASE Master Certified mechanic. I am certified and have been for almost 20 years. Well after bringing the car to the shop by tow truck they looked at it with me and after reviewing it on the lift we came to the conclusion that either the CVT belt of gears failed.

    Well the shop started the process of a claim. I figured this would be straightforward. I was so wrong. The shop was asked to fax over the tow receipt and several other things. They would call in and be on hold sometimes for over 45 minutes. The shop finally gave up and told me that I needed to come down and pay my bill and get the car because they did not have the time to go back and forth with car shield. So I paid the invoice of $200 out of my own pocket and had to pay again to have it towed to a different shop. This time I towed it to Ford.

    Ford wrote up the service order and got the car in to look at it after a few days. They have a trans tech there that has been working for them for over 30 years and he knows these cars inside and out when it comes to the trans. He came to the same conclusion as we did the first time. Either the chain on the CVT broke or the gears it rides on broke. Well we know that is a total failure and that the trans is now junk. After diag and shop time I have a bill of 450 bucks just sitting there with no repairs completed.

    Now Car Shield is stating that I have to approve a tear down of the trans so they can decide if they are willing to pay out on the repairs. That would cost $2000 for them to pull the trans and tear it down. Well according to the adjuster that I spoke with at Auto Shield that does the claims for car shield, he stated that until this is done there is nothing else that they can do. Well the problem is here that if they do not cover the repairs I will be out a total of $2200. The adjuster stated that there is about a 70% chance that he repairs would not be covered. So I was lied to over and over.

    The sales people just want to make that commission and not go into details with the customers about the coverage. It is a bait and switch! That is against Federal Laws according to my attorney. So all of this being said I am already out $700. I could have just brought this car over to a place that sells and installs used transmissions and had this back on the road for about $500 more. This has been going on for over a month and still it is just a back and forth with Auto Shield/Car Shield. If you have an older and higher millage car your better off either doing the work yourself or find a cheap shop to do the work for you. Do Not Buy Car Shield! They will just leave you with bills and laugh at you!!!! If you have a newer car and 150k or less get an extended warranty from a dealership!!! Works out to be cheaper and you do not have the hassles or deductible you have with car shield... We less stress and calls to make. Car Shield is a joke!!!!

    Worse company and a scam, don't do it. My car was overheating and I was told it the Head Gasket, they refused to fixed, but told me that they fixed Engine, but not head gasket, really. A engine replacement is way more expensive than fixing a head gasket, BTW 2,500 on a BMW X5. Rep was rude as hell, I feel duped into buying coverage. I would not recommend CarShield to anyone.

    Your commercials are misleading. Consumer expected to pay for engine to be disassembled to prove what caused the internal problem. Cylinders are a lubricated part which is suppose to be covered on the policy, however the consumer is responsible to pay an SAE to prove what and how such part is defective costing several hundreds of dollars the consumer is responsible to pay. Monthly premium is expensive and they try every way possible to avoid paying for claims. Waste of money.

    We have had a contract with Car Shield since April 2020. When the air unit went out (JULY 90 degree weather) my husband reminded me that we had Car Shield. I called Car Shield and they shared with us the initial procedures...I then called Firestone and arranged to have car taken to them by appointment. I had to make plans to bring the vehicle and eventually had to leave it...I had to pay out of pocket for the diagnostic eval as well. Firestone attempted to contact adjuster and my subsequently learning that Auto Shield handles things from that point.

    Back and forth calls by me to Car Shield and Firestone. Placed on a queue hold....We learned the next day (quite inconvenient having no vehicle all this time). That next day started by my calling to make arrangements for a rent a car...was told that had to wait until they received a code authorizing a warranty rental....(How disappointing).

    I then called Car Shield and was told to call Firestone to have them put request in online. I called Firestone (by this time it is late in the afternoon) and this is when I was told my claim was denied....I called back to Car Shield and wanted to cancel my contract. I felt that maybe the next time I needed help I would be denied and utterly inconvenienced. My husband and I are pastors and have tried to handle this situation diplomatically as you can probably determine from this experience response. Please call me to share further my intent.
