I had to call to give my new debit card number before my next payment comes out, I did talk to customer service and everything worked out. All of my information is now updated and on file. I am very happy to say that I am a Carshield member.

Update-2 Today's experience on the phone with a customer service rep was a lot more positive than last week's. I actually got to learn which garages are approved by Car Shield in Canada. If you are contemplating this coverage for your Canadian registered car, remember that they only accept SAE Approved garages that are far and few in between in Canada because SAE is a US based certifying body, however they do approve OEM Repair shops which means all you have to do is to take your vehicle to one of its dealerships near you. I wish the rep had told me that last week.

My husband's work van has been sitting at a shop since Wednesday, today is Friday and we’re still waiting for an approval/authorization. He is the sole provider and hasn’t been able to work due to this long delay in simply giving the shop the go ahead. CarShield claims you get that approval within 24 hours-not 3 days and counting. When his alternator went Wednesday, he called them to be sure it’s covered. He was told yes it’s covered and to go ahead and take it to the shop. There it sits waiting for such a simple thing as an ok (which he basically had already been told).
My husband has been working 7 days and now will be out these 3 days (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) as well as Saturday, Sunday, Monday.…until someone at CarShield decides to do what we pay for each month and get it going. We have had to use them in the past and that experience was great, this time around-we are absolutely disgusted. Not only are they taking their sweet time (and bringing home a paycheck) but the customer service reps he’s talked with have been outright rude. Maybe we (and others) should consider another company who cares about their customers.

Cynthia spoke with me and said some things that made sense and offered a discount. So I cancelled the discount! I barely use my car and it's garaged, so I really don't expect to have any problems. A decade ago I paid into a similar contact and they ran off to the Caribbean and took all the money.

Fixed A/C on my 2018 Honda Civic. Was done quickly and no hassles with payment from you people and everything working perfect. South Texas has some of the worst heat waves in the United States, so you see we need A/C's like we need food and water.

I have the gold plan and have been denied having components being covered that are clearly on the contract but they made a way to take out the most important parts out of each component covered, still leaving you with paying a high bill!
That is unfortunate and we are very sorry we couldn't help. We can only cover the parts listed on your policy, and unfortunately the mode door actuator is not listed in the contract for coverage. Car was ultimately repaired but it took longer than anticipated, maybe 10 days. Mechanic reported that the people they dealt with were kind of difficult in asking repetitive questions etc. From my perspective, some parts were apparently not covered and cost me $400 out of pocket.
We are sorry to hear there may have been some confusion about your claim. The parts were all verified and covered for you, however the shop was not willing to allow us to ship in a part, nor will they willing to negotiate with us on the cost that they are charging for labor. They are charging more than what could be verified per the nationally recognized labor guide, so that is the only differences that you would have been responsible for. We are , however, happy to see that we were able to assist you with the repair in the amount of $1722.13. We paid $400 a month to CarShield for an extended warranty on 2 vehicles. When it came time to file a claim for our air conditioning in a high mileage Ford 2019 pickup, it was a complete hassle. They required the car dealer to run multiple diagnostic tests running up our bill at the dealer and then when a cause was determined they would not authorize the repair. Instead on a Thursday, they insisted on delaying any repair until at least Monday to send their inspector to the dealer to do an independent evaluation of the parts to see if they would cover any or all of the repair. I suggest foregoing a warranty and just saving that money in a repair fund because this is nothing more than a con in my opinion intended to either not cover claims or frustrate those with legitimate claims into not pursuing them by purposely delaying repairs.

Asking about a service as my vehicle needed a fuel filter, and it is not covered by Car Shield, and the tow to the dealer was not covered and had to pay for the tow to the dealer and have the vehicle serviced.

Newly arrived they were all warped. Did not bother to send the back. Thought they were suppose to be fitted. I first decided on CarShield, then Toco have me a cheaper rate so I moved to Toco. Then CarShield upped that one and gave me an even lower rate so I switched back to CarShield after comparing the two down to the last contract item. Mailing address for a few months is **. I am in NY to have surgery. Any communication can be emailed please. I was very disappointed because I was under the impression all I had to pay was the $100 deductible. I was not aware Car Shield has cheaper prices than the dealers so I have to find a place that will accept your prices to get my vehicle repaired.

Needed to cancel because we sold the car, customer service was efficient. However, since we had just paid for a month's coverage the day before, we needed to get a supervisor involved to get that money refunded. She was also efficient and caring. All in all a good experience.

They made me pay 2800 dollars to a repair shop. When all I had to do was add 25.00 to my plan. The broken part had nothing to do with the lift kit. But they approved the first repair and the lift kit was on it at that time also.

Since joining CarShield I have had to drive many miles in the past 11 months (due to multiple family member deaths in various states). During one trip to South Carolina the engine light came on and I brought my truck to Dereck's Auto Repair at 9968 Choctaw Dr., Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70815 (225-218-0283). Dereck called CarShield and established that I had a contract with Carshield; however, after calling and waiting for call backs for someone to tell him how his shop would be paid, he returned my vehicle without making repairs.
My next move was to go to Hollingsworth Richards Ford (Dealership - 7787 Florida, Blvd. Baton Rouge, La. 70806 - 225-228-6436) for repairs. The service person at HollingsWorth informed me that they did not have a working relationship with CarShield. In the meantime the condition of my vehicle deteriorated. After a trip to Dallas + Houston Texas I contacted CarShield and reported the problems I have had while trying to get my vehicle repaired. The Customer Service person apologized and assured that my vehicle would be repaired.
I was given the names of several vendors in Baton Rouge and I chose Precision Tune Auto Care (225-293-2886), 2528 Sherwood Forest Blvd. Baton Rouge, La. for repairs. Contact was made and CarShield authorized the checkup for repairs. It was determined that my vehicle had several fuel system breakdown issues; however, CarShield did not authorize the repairs due to the fact that the vehicle condition worsened because it was not repaired in a timely manner. In my discussion with a repairman at Precision Tune I learned that my vehicle's fuel system problems could have been repaired before they worsened if it had been checked when the vehicle was brought to Dereck's. I submit that my efforts to get repairs at Dereck's and HollingsWorth were timely efforts and CarShield did not properly respond. Not only did CarShield fail to repair my vehicle, but I had to pay $142.50 for the examination.

I called to add a 2006 Jeep Commander to my existing account. The gentleman that helped me with this was very pleasant. And I would recommend CarShield to my family and friends. It was well worth the money. Because it had paid for the first time that I used it. My thermostat in my 2012 Chevy Equinox had went out on July 3rd of 2019. And with Car Shield I was able to get it fixed.

Why not, I was tired of spending money on $4,000 warranties just to go get a repair and hear the warranty don't cover that. Well I have been a member for a little over a year. I guess what I will say is I’m pretty disappointed. I was told my repair for the motor of my window was covered, but when diagnostics were completed they found that the motor had just fell off and because the motor wasn’t broken I had to pay for the motor to be replaced and assembled out of my pocket. I have the highest plan and I feel that I was taken by a technically. Staff at customer service very nice. Claims staff Not helpful and rude. Not pleased at all. Considering cancellation.

Guide me through the process very detail. Even though the shop (Firestone) did not know how to handle or understand how CarShield work. They refuse to get more clarification or information in CarShield. The shop assume CarShield should pay for whatever they quote your vehicle at. I thank car CarShield for making my process easier & hopefully I can’t refund back on the part I paid for since Firestone didn’t do their part on that. Thanks CarShield. You guys did an awesome job.

Good morning. I'm highly unhappy with how Car Shield has handle my claim. I have two vehicles and both need an alternator. I was able to be my dodge journey truck back within days. However, my Hyundai sonata has been with Hyundai for almost a week now. Car shield said on Saturday they ordered the part and sent it as a one day shipping. Come to find out they never sent the part out! Now car shield says it's gonna take an estimated 2 days for Hyundai to receive the part (which will be Thursday or friday). Although I have a rental that Hyundai say will cover a day or two, who's gonna cover the rest of it? Greenhouse! I'm very unhappy now.

Overall, I've been happy with CarShield, although they were not able to cover my last big expenditure which kind of sucks. It was for the DEF pump on my truck. Something kind of critical that I felt should have been covered.

My Mercedes warranty ran out and I could not get extended warranty through Mercedes and the cost was too much. I reached out to CarShield and they got my vehicle covered with an amazing coverage and monthly payments. CarShield agent Jennifer ** was so helpful answering all my questions. Adjustors do not respond in a timely manner to contract holders, their representatives, or the service technicians. The 24-48 hour turnaround time has turned into two long money draining months. I was hesitant to write this review but reviews are important to improve customer skills at the least.

Our AARP Credit card was transferred to the Master Card. Evidently the payment was posted on the AARP card and was declined. I gave the new Master Card information to your staff. The lady who answered my call in billing was very nice and helpful.

My experience with the CarShield representative was a great one! She explained how the warranty program works and she answered all of my questions that I had. I am glad that I finally became a CarShield member, I always watch the commercial and their people seems to be genuine. I will find out when that time comes for me - I hope that it doesn't come to that but if it does I will be protected.

CarShield agreed to order the part for the repair to be shipped to the auto dealership where my car was towed to. The part was suppose to be shipped in 2 days. It was not. My car was at the dealership for 2 weeks. I called to see if my car was fixed. the dealer said they had not received the parts. Carshield should have contact the parts company and made sure it was received. I called after two weeks to check on my car and the dealer said they did not received the part. I had to call carshield to tell them the part never came. Then they contact AutoZone about the part and they said they will call me back with an update and they never did.
After carshield contact AutoZone the same day I called around 2:00pm. I the dealer the next day after not hearing from carshield after they said they will call me back. The dealer said they received the part around 5:00 pm the same day I call carshield to let them know the part had not been ship. I got my car back today. I asked carshield to pay for a rental after my car was at the dealer over 8 days and they said no because the repair time was only and hour. But the dealer never received the part. It was not my fault the part was not shipped. The dealer had no loaner cars, and I was without transportation for two weeks and they should have paid for me a rental to go to work.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT GET CARSHIELD!!! IF I COULD LEAVE A -0 RATING, I WOULD! My car has been at the original dealer since Sept. 20, 2021. They explained to me after the first two days of my car being there that my transmission was failing. Like most dealers, Cadillac rather replace the entire transmission versus taking more time and money to pull the transmission apart and find the problem. Cadillac explained that to Carshield the same day I received the information. Immediately, Carshield went GHOST! NO ONE reached back to my dealership in regards to the repair. I hadn't heard anything either so I called my dealership. They said they had not heard back from Carshield and have left several messages for the adjuster. I then called out and left a message with a rep at Carshield because they refuse to transfer you directly to the adjuster about YOUR CAR.
Whatever information they withhold seems to be "top secret" and you'll never speak directly to the adjuster about what's happening with the claim. The following day, my dealership sent an email to Carshield, copying myself and the Service Dept. Manager about the issue of no contact. Still receiving no answer that day or the next, I took it upon myself to call Carshield myself AGAIN. They explained this was way too long that the claim has been going on and the matter would be escalated to Stephen **'s (my adjuster) supervisor. Just this Tuesday 10/5/21 Cadillac reached out to me and explained exactly what the adjust explained to them. Please see the exact email sent below:
*******BEGINNING OF EMAIL******* The situation with your vehicle is the transmission is as follows.-Delayed shift or no shift conditions /check engine light on. Codes found to be P0989- transmission fluid pressure switch 5 circuit low. This condition can be caused by a few situations. The valve body internal of the transmission could be electronically shorted which looks to have burned/ seized up 4th and 5th gears . Further tear down would be required (at your expense) to isolate specific failure point.
Yesterday American Auto Shield called us back from last week. After speaking with powertrain team at American Auto Shield I found out that once the specific point of failure is located they will need to inspect/verify for coverage. If it winds up being the electrical valve body it will not be covered according to Stephen at American Auto Shield as you do not have electrical coverage. If after the transmission is removed and taken apart (again at your expense) and we find that a clutch is burned out and that is the main point of failure they may cover the component that failed and some associated labor however the additional parts required for subsequent damage and associated labor will be your responsibility.
So for example if the failed part was a clutch and the overhaul of the transmission costs $5000.00 and the clutch replacement is covered by them they would pay lets say $1000.00. The balance of repair is yours. Again these are sample prices. Not actual. We here at Cadillac are recommending a transmission replacement from Cadillac. It comes with a 3 year /100000 mile warranty from GM. The replacement costs would be $5865.00 + tax. We would not want to attempt a repair/overhaul of your current transmission due to its mileage and likely cost of repairs of $6300.00+ tax. We could only warranty the parts installed for 1 year and not the whole transmission. Again this is not a option for us to rebuild the transmission.
If you would like us to look for a used transmission from a salvage supplier we can do so and let you know the results of what and if we find and prices. American Auto Shield will be looking for your records of the vehicle maintenance as well as a towing invoice for this vehicle on this visit. If you want to move forward with a replacement unit new or salvage please let us know.
If you want to attempt a overhaul of the unit you may want to look to AAMCO for transmission overhaul and dealing with American Auto Shield directly as again we will not attempt a overhaul on this transmission. Your current charges to us for Diagnostics to date is $315.00 + tax. We stopped looking at that point to not further expense you. We ask that you review this information and please make a decision so we can move forward or you can pay your diagnostics and remove your vehicle to a transmission only facility as we do not have room to sit on vehicles that are not in for repair. ******END OF EMAIL*******
With all of this in mind, this means that Carshield rather take up the extra time and MORE money to pull apart my transmission and "find the problem" rather than replace the transmission in full for less month all together (A SERVICE THAT THE RAPPER ICE TEA BRAGS ABOUT ON TV). Keep in mind, that if they find the issue not be "covered" or "under warranty" then I'll have to pay EVERY SINGLE PENNY OF THIS MORE EXPENSIVE CHARGE OUT OF POCKET. 9 times out of 10 if I take the time to have my dealer pull apart the transmission, find the problem, their adjuster comes out to "inspect" and miraculously find out that the issue isn't "covered." Which is absolute insane!
As you can read from above my dealer rather not deal with my car or Carshield at this point. It's taken WAAYYYY too long to communicate about a vehicle that should have been squared away. They referenced another shop to break down the transmission in order to find the problem, IF that's what I decided to do and go the way Carshield would like. I've been paying Carshield for almost 2 years and this is the 2nd issue with my vehicle that they have weaseled their way out of paying for and I'm done with it! I CANCELLED TODAY AND I WANT ALL OF MY PAYMENTS BACK!! There's no true coverage for your vehicle through Carshield and it's a SCAM to get monthly payments out of folks that just want to do right by their vehicles. This is WRONG on every level and I've never been so disappointed behind a company like this. I demand to speak to someone in corporate. Especially in regards to a refund.
The day you're late with a payment the nonstop calls start and a payment is NEEDED right away. Funny because since my car has been at the dealer I haven't received that same sense of urgency. My car has been in the shop since September 10, 2021. It is now October 1, 2021. I see that no one cares enough to make sure, I as a Diamond of 2 years with 2 cars paying $100 a month for both, was treated better. No one has called me EVER for an update from Carshield nor American auto shield and I have called both of them repeatedly. I have called almost every day after 2 weeks passed and to the date there has been 5 escalations.
Yet, I was told again today (10/01/21) that the adjuster has till tonight. The repair technician called me to see if I can get someone to have the adjuster respond to him. He states that no one will call him back or respond to his emails. I can't get a rental until they approve it. This is so wrong on so many levels. I want corporate involved immediately please. HELP ME SOMEONE. I have no car! NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. I am out of hundreds of dollars on a car rental because my car has been gone for 4 Fridays straight!! I feel Ostracized by this Company. Do not get Car Shield/American Auto Shield!.

I was fortunate enough to buy a low mileage car and got the best coverage. I've had two claims that went very smoothly. No hassles. They covered a bad lock solenoid and a timing belt tensioner. Coverage is not cheap, but it's a good investment for the $45,000 car that I got for $10,000.

I have had 2 warrantees with Carshield, 1 on each of my vehicles for several years, which I have never used until recently. I first call CarShield to make sure they would covered the repairs on this vehicle in question and was told they did, (AC & Power Window Moter). I put my vehicles in for a passenger side power window and AC repair, both of which had stopped working. First I found out from my service center that CarShield would only cover after market parts for repairs, which I was not made aware of when they sold me the policies. Considering one of my vehicles is a Mercedes, this is unacceptable. But, 3 weeks later with my other vehicle still in the shop, I called my service center again to find out the status. I was told that they we still waiting on approval to replace the AC compressor due to compressor leaks.
Finally today, I received a call from their service center saying that CarShield would not cover the compressor because the compressor was still functioning, but would not hold a charge due to a leak or leaks, so basically, no AC. I called CarShield about this and they said that they did not cover leaks due to failed gaskets on the compressor. They only cover the compressor if it fails to function. It is my opinion that this company is the worst in and will use any technicality to not have to cover any repair work. I have since cancelled both of my warrantees and would advise people to stay clear of this company.

I had an awesome experience with Carshield over three months ago maybe Four but they paid for my engine to be completely replace. Car shield receives such a bad reputation from Mechanics who are just in the business to make money. I would advised anybody to get Carshield, however my claim would not have been covered if I wouldn't have read the contract. When buying these policies Customers need to realize and read what they bought into. If they don't like it from the beginning don't be in. My Malibu is a 2012 with 128k miles when I got the coverage and not everything is covered but my engine was covered because it covers timing chains and at the end of the day the parts that are covered will outweigh the parts that are not covered because they are either more little or easier to afford. Carshield is amazing and I would have them any other way.

I received a rental car for three days when my car was being repaired. It took more than three days for the repairs. I called to request more time on the rental car and was told I was only locked in for three days. The contract states up to seven days for a rental car. When I returned the car I was told that Car Shield would not cover the taxes on the rental car. It states on my rental agreement that you cover the cost 100 percent.

Carshield sucks and false advertisements. My transmission is slipping on my truck. They want me to pay out of pocket for it. I've went past the 500 miles that was required. I have the $200 deductible. I can't afford to pay for transmission. I've found new warranty.

Their warranty is a joke and they will not honor it. I will be going to the Better Business Bureau as well as posting on every social media possible. Multiple reasons for an engine light to come on, mine on due to the bolts on the manifold. The 3rd cylinder on my truck misfired but a certified Dodge mechanic from out of state said he believed it could need a tune up and my plugs were bad possibly. Like anyone, would know and believe, this does not constitute a tow. I made an appointment to the Dodge dealer where I near where I reside in another state so that I would not be stranded and traveling two states out to deal with a possible spark plug issue which anyone with basic knowledge of a spark plug would do.
Upon thorough inspection and covers removed it was determined that the issue was greater. My truck is in the shop for a crush lifter that cause shavings from the cam throughout the engine. This company Carshield/Autoshield is now saying because I didn't have my vehicle towed from out of state or while out of state, to a local mechanic who I don't know or I stay several hours from, I basically caused more damage to my engine and they will only give me a tenth of what the actual engine cost is to repair. That tenth is to only fix the 3rd cylinder while shavings continue to circulate in the engine to do what? Break down again and I'll be back to doing another post. STUPIDITY!!
This is after the Dodge dealership showed the adjuster the regulations that if oil was located in certain spots regardless, the engine needed to be replaced. Initially after talking to claims, they wanted to just pay for the cylinder repair only and leave everything else as is. Make it make sense!! The escalation claims rep was very unprofessional which really amped me up. And because he's a mechanic and can distinguish a misfire from a spark plug needing replaced or a tune up due, this is the validation that he is using for me to have my truck towed because he would have known. I guess everyone in America is a mechanic now, so why would we need diagnosis or certified mechanics to tell us what's wrong with our vehicles?
By the way, the rental in the policy is a joke as it only covers the labor of the repairs. I would love to see a diagnosis and repair done within 4 hours which is what they are trying to say the rental covers. Sincerely disgruntled and I will definitely be sharing this throughout the rest of the months. These are all facts that just happened today. Every Soldier for the next year will hear about this prior to me speaking at a graduation. I promise you flyers will go up on every base I pass by on the walls in the Soldier Support Centers as well as Army Community Services offices, as well as to some of the hundreds of Officers I've trained through Virginia to brief their formations to stay away from this organization. RLTW!!!

I phoned Car Shield to find out if and when I would be receiving membership cards and information. I was told that an email could be sent immediately. I opted for the info to be sent via U.S. Mail. I was told it would be about 15-20 days before I would receive the requested info in the mail.

Was told when ordering that cost would be $89/month as in flyer. Ordered 8/27/21. Was billed $138.60 at that time and since on was charged $138.60 on 9/27/21. Called 9/27 spoke to Zemetra. She worked with me so the payment for October will be $89.99 plus tax.

I am a new customer. I haven't had any car troubles yet. So far I've had good experiences when speaking with customer support service providers. I was happy to see it did not take me a long time to get in touch with a live representative. I feel the representatives I've spoken to genuinely cared and strived to help me. However, my most recent call was to upgrade my coverage from Gold to Diamond. I was told a supervisor will review my request and the representative will get back to me within 3 to 5 days. It has been an entire week and unfortunately they have still not called back. Hope to receive a call soon.

I received an email about difficulty in getting payment so I called immediately. The transition with your representative and smooth and Uneventful. Axle replacement not covered due to being ripped. I don't understand how one is supposed to know prior to ripping unless there is an issue. I only took my vehicle in for an inspection to keep up on things and found out I needed a new axle. I've only had the car for about a year. I am on a fixed income still the monthly payment for the gold package is really a hardship for me not to mention the $350 I now owe the mechanic. I am not pleased and probably will look at other options for warranty.

When I called today, I paid my monthly payment, and then transferred to Customer Service. I intended to end my contract. The representative politely asked me the reason, I explained that a couple of months ago my car needed service. CarShield declined the problem saying that it was for a moving part. I think almost all things are moving on a car. She then explained the situation in a way that I understood, she offered me a lower monthly payment. I asked what does it cover, I had not received a contract, she explained many things that are important, I then decided to keep my contract, she proceeded to get authorization, I am staying with CarShield. My car is a 2002 S80 Volvo, so you know it is an older model. I believe that I will be able to use this policy after all. I have received the Confirmation of Coverage and am satisfied with the arrangement that has been made. Contract #**. Thank you. Joyce **.

It took 3 weeks from day submitted to car return. Over 2 weeks until approval and it still cost us out of pocket $1526 which was crazy. And only 3 day car rental at end. Very disappointed in the service. Not at all what I expected.
