    I couldn't get a clear answer as to why I was encouraged to sign up with Carshield when I had an original manufacturer's warranty. I think I paid too much?     The customer service agent was very knowledgeable about cylinder misfires. He knew exactly was I was talking about. My vehicle had a misfire in cylinder 6. Sparks and ignition coils were replaced. The misfire persisted. Further analysis revealed low compression in cyclinder 6 and poor vacuum indication a bad valve.

    On Thanksgiving while traveling from church my check engine light came on. Friday 11/26/21 I took my vehicle to a Firestone located in Columbia SC to get a diagnostic test done. The problem was the cooling system. Thermostat need to be replaced. The estimate for my vehicle (2018 Cadillac XT5) came to $1034.09. While standing at the register I immediately called CARSHIELD feeling somewhat optimistic, until the guy on the phone told me “I’m Not Covered!” Needless to say… I was embarrassed and felt cheated.

    I’ve been a customer since 7/29/20 and signed up for the Diamond Elite package. My husband and I are on a fixed income and cannot afford unexpected expense such as this one; and therefore we maintain insurances. Ironically, a year ago I was at an auto detail shop and was sitting next to this obnoxious guy who complained about everything! Your CARSHIELD commercial came on and he said “That’s a rip off”. At the time I ignored him because I didn’t want to hear that being a client of your company. I called back and your customer care manager, April (Operator ID **) took care of my service needs, with compassion and care. She also provided me with the needed information to get my claim started and deducted $100.00 off my yearly premium.

    The lady who helped was terrific. However, I continue to have an issue with adjuster handling my claim. The claim # is **. Before I brought my BMW in for repair, I confirmed with customer service that my instrument cluster was covered. I was given contact info to share with Germain BMW. However when BMW called the number they were informed that the claim was rejected. I called customer service who confirmed it was covered but apparently when the BMW rep used the phrase "faded" it was rejected. In fact my instrument panel has been a solid black. I have no speedometer, mileage indicator, amount of miles left in my tank etcetera. The 650 is dangerous to drive like this.

    I asked BMW to call back and explain. Then the response was, "We need to determine if there are alternate parts for this fix". That's unacceptable. This component directly affects the safety of the vehicle and driver so want the original part used. I authorized BMW to make the repairs. I needed my car back and could not wait any longer with an agent at CarShield to find a suitable replacement. I hope that CarShield will reimburse me for the cost of the repair. I look forward to hearing back from someone.

Some shops refuse to take any outside coverage because they want to be in charge of their own prices. There is a nationally recognized labor guide that tells repair facilities what to charge for what services and things like that.     That is correct. The goal of any sort of coverage company is to get your vehicle back into the same condition it was in before the breakdown occurred. Sometimes putting a brand new part into an older vehicle will cause other parts of the vehicle to work harder and breakdown shortly after replacing that original part. So we make sure to put the best, most cost effective part in your vehicle, to prevent further breakdowns. We also guarantee our parts for the life of the contract, so if for whatever reason it were to breakdown again, we would replace it again, no cost to you.     After spending 45 min - 1 hr on the phone with a Carshield agent who assured me that all repairs would be covered under the policy he felt was right or me I purchased a policy. I left the call feeling like I made the right choice. Well 5 months later-and $579.95 later, I learned this is not the case. If your marketing campaigns are any indication, I am your target customer, an older woman who is allowed to explore her town on her own and use her car for travel and recreational rides. More importantly, I am NOT a mechanic nor do I have knowledge about car repairs. I put my trust in a sales rep with your company and got ripped off! My car is in the shop and car shield will not cover any portion of the repair.

    I didn't read the warranty when I received it in the mail (even if I did I wouldn't understand how each lubricated part works with the other) and how would I know what to look for in a warranty to ensure that every part of my vehicle would be covered. I called customer service- they are horrible! You can't speak with a manager until they call you back (that's a joke). Buyers beware: please read your warranty immediately so that you can cancel your policy in a timely manner before wasting hundreds of dollars like I did!

    I had Car Shield. THEY ARE THE BIGGEST RIP OFF, LYING CON ARTIST IN THE AUTO INDUSTRY. They Promote You going to the dealership to get your car fixed & please understand I was in the Auto Industry for over 15 years, 5 of them as a service advisor. (1st) LIE #1 THE PROMOTION States It's CAR SHIELD but The REAL COMPANY Is American Auto. #2 LIE #2 When you file a claim for a repair with the dealership for which they say that Car Shield will pay they don't because the dealership will use original auto parts to fix your vehicle. Car Shield will not pay for that. They Car Shield wants to use inferior parts to repair you car.

    #3 Lie #3 Their promotion states they will provide & pay for a car rental while your car get repaired. Don't believe it. What they do is provide payment for total labor time on repair but what happens if the repair shop can't get to your car for a week then you have to eat that payment. They won't pay for that. You can file a rebuttal for the claim but you won't get it back.. We had to pay for 2 weeks of car rental fees or go without transportation. At the end of the transaction we ended up paying 3 thousand dollars out of pocket. We might as well paid for the repair ourselves.

    We had paid 100 dollars per month for little over a year before having to replace the transmission in our Pathfinder. Anybody in the industry knows in the Asian auto market the most of them use the same type of transmission. It's not designed for repairs. You can do it but you'll pay more for labor time to rebuild it than to do what the industry wants and does & that's just replace it. (Note beware because coming up in 2025 Ford is changing to this same transmission in its vehicles. It's less overall cost to the company. Just a heads up.) But the transmissions are a ** so be warned but back to this car **. Oh my bad Car Shield. After paying 14 hundred dollars in monthly payments & another 3 thousand in repair cost you might as well paid for the damn thing. Out right I terminated their ** quick. The warranty industry is a dangerous legalized gangster enterprise so be careful & do the re-search. Pick their ** apart with a fine tooth comb.

    Someone at American Auto told me and the repair shop that the part an alternator was covered and 2.8 hours of labor was covered and I the customer would be responsible for the other labor.
