    I was under the impression that the Platinum Plan covers everything but unfortunately it does not. I have to get my Catalytic Converter changed on my car but it was not covered because CarShield does not cover the emissions system. I am dissatisfied with the coverage offered and also Tracy C. from the call center needs Professional Development.

    We do apologize that you feel this way, however the Catalytic Converter specifically is not a part that can be covered by any extended coverage company because it is an emissions related component that is regulated by each individual state and county. It is also not technically required for the vehicle to function. Because of this, we could not cover it even if we wanted to. Emissions coverage for other emissions related components is available in some cases for an additional surcharge each month. Give us a call to see if it is available for your particular plan and vehicle.

    I've had CarShield for several months now. The transmission went out in my 2013, Chevy Traverse in January 2022 and it has been at the repair shop ever since [Claim #: **]. My rep (Chris **) forced the garage doing the repairs on my vehicle to jump through all kinds of hoops (i.e. give a number of computer readings to prove when the transmission failed, have a CarShield tech go to shop for an additional assessment, etc.) before ultimately deciding to send a "used, low mileage" transmission; which wouldn't have been a problem, however, this "low mileage" transmission has 113,000 miles on it. Seeing as how the transmission on my vehicle went out at 118,000 miles, I believe anyone could understand my cause for concern, here. Then to add insult to injury, CarShield is only covering said used transmission for 12 months OR 12,000 miles; whichever comes first.

    I've reached out to my rep Chris ** multiple times via telephone and email for over 1 week and he has yet to call me back. Chris, however, has spoken with the garage doing the repairs on multiple occasions, but never with me. All the correspondence I've received regarding my vehicle has come from the garage doing the work. I've gotten NO response from anyone at CarShield. Chris also stated that I approved said repairs to the garage using the used transmission, and I have done no such thing. CarShield [or maybe just my rep] has done more to find ways NOT to cover repairs than they have to cover the repairs on my vehicle. That being said, if you're considering CarShield as a warranty company, I HIGHLY suggest you look somewhere beyond CarShield.

    We just need to Upgrade the Language used to explain Covered and Non Covered Parts in our Packages. Especially the Silver Package. As I explained a Case Scenario that clarifies how a Water Pump failure should include a Thermostat and Radiator Conjoined Repair. As the Water Pump is Covered under the Silver Package. Yet the Thermostat and the Radiator failure is not covered Under the Silver Package as Stand Alone repairs even though they are Conjoined and may have caused the Water Pump to Fail. Due to the Semi Mid-grade Package. And that Door/Window motors, Air Conditioning Fans and Units Should be Covered under this package as the car under my Policy is an upgraded version of the make and model car I own and is a necessity to provide Sports Luxury Sedan Comfort to both the Driver and all Passengers.

You don't get out of your vehicle on I95 that time of day, so I went to the service station where they repaired the vehicle.     We are sorry that you feel this way. We do show that your claim was authorized and paid in the amount of $1319.51 for all of the components were eligible for coverage. That is correct, your contract lists an exclusion stating we can not cover breakdowns that occur due to continued operation of a vehicle with a known mechanical breakdown, as this is failure to protect the vehicle from further damage. That doesn't mean pull over in the middle of heavy traffic, but you should have immediately pulled over as soon as it was safe to do so and called us for Roadside Assistance that comes included in your coverage so that we could tow you to the shop and prevent further breakdowns on the vehicle.     I took my car to a large well-known dealership to get serviced and they noticed a problem with my lower control arm, which is in the contract with Car Shield as covered. Car Shield has another company that holds the warranty, American Auto Shield. Dealer stated that American auto shield wants to send an inspector for the claim and they have to hold my car and wait 24 to 48 hours so the inspector from American Auto Shield can approve work to be done. After waiting 24 to 48 hours for the inspector to approve, then they can start working on fixing my car. My car can be held for 3-5 days.

    In addition, Car Shield states they will cover a rental car, but they only cover 1 day per 4 hours of labor approved. They will not cover time waiting for the inspector. Also, they only cover $40 a day for a rental car. A rental car is currently, for what is available, $150 a day. I was told by American Auto shield that they require an inspection on most claims. Be prepared to have your car at a shop for 3-5 days for a 3.5-hour job. I have the highest coverage Car Shield offers. It is also not clear whether the inspector will approve or not, but the contract states it is covered...

    I bought a 2012 Mazda. It had 100, 500 miles. Sad to say but right after I notice a steering problem. The Gold Plan didn't cover it (nothing over 100). I'm not fixing it so had to drop the coverage. Next time, I would recommend to anyone who has a car with more than 100k that some things are not covered.     It seems more problematic getting a claim when mechanics say they can fix a vehicle but when you get it to those mechanics they then say they can’t because they don’t have the tools to do so. Some of these shops need to be taken off the Shield network if they are not gonna honor their word..! I have had to get my car towed 3 times by CarShield because when we reached out about the issue the mechanics say “Bring it in. We can fix it.” (Lee’s Automotive) held my vehicle overnight to then tell me the next day that they don’t have the tools, so, "We gonna recommend you take it to our other shop that can fix it." I called the shop (Broadway Automotive) before towing it, they said they could fix it. Got it towed from Lee’s Automotive to Broadway Automotive for them to then say they can’t fix the timing issue.

    So a CarShield representative found a shop that was out of the network called (Stretch Precision Automotive) and explained the issue that the check engine light is on and the vehicle has a timing issue. They said bring to them. They can fix it, however they have had my vehicle for 3 days and they said that my check engine light wasn’t on when the car was then towed to them from Broadway and Lee’s Automotive. So now I’m sitting 1000 miles away from home and can’t get my car fixed because one of these three mechanic shops reset the check engine light on my car!!! I am scared to break down trying to get back home, so I’m stuck with a bill that if they whomever it was didn’t reset the check engine light I could be getting my timing issue fix before traveling back 1000 miles… I’m disappointed and frustrated!

    Sorry you’re having trouble finding a local repair shop that accepts our coverage. Some shops refuse to take our coverage, however it is not for the reasons you may think. Some shops refuse to take any outside coverage because they want to be in charge of their own prices. There is a nationally recognized labor guide that tells repair facilities what to charge for what services and things like that.     The first time I needed to use for heater motor burn up you paid all but 100 dollars which was great. The second time the air cond compressor froze up breaking serpentine belt Car Shield would not pay for belt or install and would not cover all cost of New compressor which left me a bill of over 500 dollars. Car shield did not even pay half of bill. Dealer says that car shield wanted them to use rebuilt compressor which they would not. Bad experience this time. Will I stay with them????

We suggest speaking with the shop and asking why they did not report the belt to us to see if it would be eligible for coverage.     Carshield has the worst customer service of any company I've ever worked with. Took forever to hear back from anybody, and then got no answers. Took three and a half months get my car worked on with substandard parts put on my car. I never had any idea what was going on. Call them several times daily. Got no answers. Felt like I was talking to a politician. Nothing but double talk that meant nothing. The substandard part that was ordered in by Car Shield had my mechanic put it on. I ended up having to replace anyway 6 months later. Which took three and a half months to get here and put on the vehicle, like I said earlier customer service the worst in the industry carshield. They work on coming up with reasons not to do anything. Borderline fraud or at least very poor ethics.

    What they're advertising implies and what reality is are so different. Where their commercials say Carshield takes care of everything they barely took care of anything in three and a half months. Waiting for my car to get fixed or actually trying to find out whether or not it's going to be fixed. Talk to somebody twice two times in three and a half months. What a joke. Three and a half months it carshield to make up their mind. They did end up paying for less than a quarter of what the bill was, and they brought in a substandard part. The substandard part they brought in that broke six months later that had to put replace myself. Anyway it's what they pay for so out of a $6,000 bill they pay for $1,400.

    Car Shield is a waste of money a waste of time and you will feel used and abused after you're done dealing with him. At least that is my experience. The money I paid carshield I should have put in the bank and savings account so I had the money, to pay for my car. It would have been cheaper in the long run. My experience carshield is the worst company out, I'll say it's in the number one and two for me worst companies just in case I forgot one over the years I have ever worked with or dealt with a joke!!!

    I had my Chevy Tahoe covered with Carshield. I took the truck to the dealer to have a diagnostic done after I had an issue with the transmission. They opened a claim which was denied by Carshield. Carshield argued that the vehicle was fixed before the inspector arrived which was false according to the dealer. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! I PAID $6000 OUT OF POCKET.

    I'm very disappointed with CarShield. Not only with the customer service but also with the management and execution of the contract and covered service. My daughter contacted Carshield to enter a claim for repair on her 2014 Mazda and from the outset she had problems with our policy. First the reps could not find our account/policy and suggested we didn't have one but yet they find a way to withdraw the payment each month. Then after the dealership assess the car and determined that the radiator fluid overflow/expansion tank caused the problem and needed to be replaced.

    Carshield determined that it was not covered and denied the claim. I disagree, our contract clearly shows that our cooling system components are covered and last I check the overflow/expansion tank is an important component of the car's cooling system. Carshield let my family down on our first claim and when we needed them most. I have totally lost confidence in CarShield and frankly would not recommend them to anyone going forward.

    A claim was filed on 12/20/2021 after the vehicle started smoking and no longer would crank. American Auto Shield/Car Shield asked the dealership to use a scope to take pics of inside of the engine. I asked had this ever been requested before and I was told "no" and I ask why my case was different. After Mac Haik honored the request and sent pics for claim, my claim was denied on 2/8/22 for the following reason: Engine sludge. There is NO POSSIBLE way that this was caused by me in this short time span. This was years of build up from previous owners and CAR SHIELD/American Auto Shield was looking to deny the claim for any reason with on these sub clauses (which is not mentioned as you're buying it) in the contact as a consumer there is no winning in this situation.

    Car Shield is a money pit that you pay in and get no help when you need it. The engine is completely gone in this vehicle and they won't help me. I cannot afford to lose money like this and not get any help. They are not remorseful at all nor sympathetic to my situation. All, they want is to take your money and not render any service or help when you need. Now, I have this vehicle not drivable and I still have to pay a car note on this. This is not fair to me to purchase this warranty thinking that I am covering myself in the event of something like this happening.

    This company is a rip off and innocent consumer like me have fallen victim them and feeling helpless. This has affected me mentally, and emotionally where I cannot rest. I purchased this warranty for protection/coverage and they have failed me. I asked them to cancel my claim and I was offered a discount on my policy instead of a cancellation and you want to talk about adding insult to injury they've done that. What good is a discount on a vehicle that I cannot operate because the engine is gone and all they can think about is MONEY in my destress, pain and anguish. I was furious when this option was given to me instead of them canceling my claim like I asked them to. Once I snapped because I had enough of their foolishness then my claim was canceled. I have reported this issue to BBB as well. I am sure I am not the only one who has a bad experience with CAR SHIELD!! I will not recommend them to any human being period.

    My service was quick and painless. I wanted to re-establish my old gold plan but my vehicle mileage was over 150000. So I was informed that I qualify for the Silver plan which was better than having no warranty at all.

    My car is in the shop for a week so far and you said I couldn’t get a rental car, and paying $348. I been paying for this for over two years and when I need it, it don’t work. I had to pay for part of the wrecker pay and still now have to pay for repairs. I don’t need to waste my money and time with false advertising. You all are a joke and will let everyone know that I talk to. Thanks for nothing and taking my money.

It looks like any overage you would have had to pay would be because the shop is overcharging for both parts and labor, as we do verify everything per a nationally recognized labor guide. As far as rental, you contract does explain that the repair has to be at least 4 hours worth of labor or more to qualify for rental assistance and it looks like this repair is not 4 hours or more.
